I went to the Bardmoor location in Clearwater Florida and was lied to from the minute I walked in until I left, they wouldn't tell me things up front. It took over four and a half hours to do one tax return. I had three of them and then she told me they're $100 a piece to file my taxes. I went in there to do all three to get rapid refund and then they finally told me they can only do the last year and it wasn't enough to do a rapid refund after we finished filing so I got stuck paying $142 total for something I could have done at home in under 5 minutes. There's a $42 bank loan and I never got any kind of loan. Total rip off, very unhappy.

Hello, my mom is 90 years old and we had her taxes done at the johnston ri office. They messed up the tax return real bad and overcharged her. I had to step in and it is a year now and the claim has been fixed by my own intervention and they took $400.00 out of her account without her ok. Fraud. Stay away, and go to professionals.

I have been supporting my boyfriend and his children 100% financially all year. No income other than from myself. I had permission from him and the mother to claim them as dependents, because again, I’ve supported them all year. My boyfriend is also disabled and was told I couldn’t claim him either. I was told I could not claim anyone as dependents because we were not married… I know that the definition of a dependent is not that black and white… That being said I proceeded to speak with a tax lawyer (family member), checking with other tax experts, as well as researching IRS tax filing policies and procedures, I was able to get the information I needed.
This is not my only poor experience with H&R Block. I also filed my 2023 taxes with them, with proof of filing. I never received my refund. When I went to check on it with the IRS, I was made aware that I had no 2023 taxes transcript because The IRS never received my return. I’m going to have to pay to redo those taxes myself to make sure they get done properly. I put 100% trust in this company to handle my taxes… I was left disappointed. I will never recommend trusting this company to do anyone’s taxes.

I have been a H&R Block online customer for over 10 years. I have always been satisfied with the program. Every year I have been sent an email with a discount for my filings. This year (2025), the discount I received in the email stated the discount expires at 11:59 pm on 2/2/2025. It also stated I would have to file & pay before the expiration date. Since the government only requires that 1099 forms are sent out no later than 1/31, I am still waiting to receive a 1099. After speaking with H&R Block customer service, I was told that there was nothing they could do, I could not get another discount code! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! Will be using another online service from now on.

I have used H and R Block for 16 years now. I will never again let them do my taxes ever again. I have always owned my own small business so the price to get my taxes done has always been high. I'm talking no less than 450 every year to get them done BTW. Anyways I like most people these days always do the refund advance due to needing the extra money after the holidays have drained my family and myself and have always been granted the max which used to be 3500. However I've never been approved for the refund advance before Christmas even though I have never had a return that totaled less than 4500 in any year I have filed.
Now come this year, I paid their outrageous fees again of close to 549 dollars, brought them in 4 new customers, didn't get the referral bonuses they promise, and was only given an advance of 500 dollars. Which BTW was the same amount every person I had brought there this year and all gotten approved for and they all varied in backgrounds, job titles, w2s in hand, and small business owners.
I believe that they raised the refund advance amount to 4000 to draw more people in but still only give everyone a 500 dollar advance after having to go in person to even get an advance, pay the crazy amounts they want, and then pay the 42 dollars they make you pay to put your return on and emerald card to even be allowed to apply for the advance, and then the 55 dollars they charge for the peace of mind and tax identity shield bundle. Which I also opt into getting every year faithfully and have been audited 4 times now and have had to handle the IRS all by myself each time. Rip off!! Go anywhere else to get your taxes done please 🙏

By far, I have found over the last seven years that HRB offers the best around service. If you need help with an online return, their toll-free # picks up pretty fast and I've used it on a few occasions and was never asked to pay. I actually tried their top competitor and HRB definitely is the superior product. I think you might know who I'm talking about. HRB's price is much better also. I mean, way better. I highly recommend the online version. No CD required. I also went to an HRB office to drop off some paperwork a couple of times and it was convenient and they were very nice people. Ok, enough said. I give HRB 5 stars compared to its closest competitor at maybe 3 stars.

Horrible. I had to keep going back until the Agent got it right. Also, the agent made an error and I was expected to pay for that. When I complained, he said he got permission to make the correction without an extra cost to me. They claim their work is guaranteed. If there is a problem, even if it is their mistake, the first question is, did you BUY insurance with us so the cost of refiling could be covered. Never Again.

I haven't really had too many issues with the H&R Block online program. However, this is the second year they have had a glitch. My complaint is I sent a message and no one replies, and I am not about to pay to speak to a tax person when it's their error. The program glitch is in the state portion. None of the deductions are moving over to figure the state taxes. The program is taxing our entire income without deductions. The state says I owe them a ridiculous number which knowing what it has been in the past that number is not even close. I went and created an account with Turbo Tax and the federal number matched with the H&R Block number, and showed a much different number for the state. Everything transferred over and the number is definitely more in keeping with last years return. So I figure if I post this someone will look into it. Hopefully other people haven't filed willynilly because it may not be correct.

If you use the free version you will not get to speak to a live rep until you upgrade even then they leave you on the chat for almost an hour and have no clue what they are talking about. TurboTax is better in my opinion.

My tax expert was very unresponsive. I could not speak with him personally. They would not answer emails and they could not explain what I called, why it cost that much to do my taxes when I claimed nothing at all except for my W-2 and unemployment

Do NOT file your taxes with H&R Block. They took the money that I owed on my taxes and did not give it to the IRS, this is proven through my bank account records. Then, they won't look into it without scheduling and charging for an appointment. There is no number to call for H&R Block Online. The 1 800 number makes you pay for a recurring membership to speak to a representative. This is crazy! So now my options are to pay for an appointment to maybe resolve it or repay the IRS.

Kim ** from Burnsville Marketplace did my family's returns. She filed two simple one W-2 tax returns, but completely gave us the wrong information on the third return. This return had 529 funds that were used in 2023 for paying off a school loan under 10k. Kim initially told us that the IRS tax form was incorrect and to call the financial institution to correct it. Kim was wrong and did not understand that 529 funds are not taxable. After 7 months of emails to her that she never responded to she never once admitted that she did not know how to complete this return. The office manager and district manager were absolutely no help. The district manager said he conducted an "investigation" and found that Kim did nothing wrong.
There is no way that he even reviewed all the emails to Kim where I explained the education funds rules to her and sent her the IRS Publication highlighting the same. We had attorney's fees because of the misinformation she had given us. Be cautious of this preparer. She's arrogant and the first thing she'll tell you is that your documents are wrong if she doesn't know what she's doing. We took our documents to a CPA firm where they asked us for more information where to find it and filed our return no problem and way less than H&R Block would have. We will never have H&R Block do another tax return.

23 years with H&R Block. I will never use their services again. Most single parents pay their astronomical prices to get our taxes back early this year. They screwed me royally for 23 years. I have gotten the Emerald Advance max amount this year. I got $250. Not only that their tax calculator is off by over 2,000 something dollars so you think you're getting more than what you're actually getting. I'm not sure what H&R Block has changed but I'm sure there's going to be a lot of single parents never doing business with them again. Shame on you H&R Block. There's a lot of other places to go do taxes. Somebody else will be getting my business. Not only that. They charge $50 or more for the loan. Rip you off left and right. Not a good place to get your taxes done. I do not recommend.

H&R Block does NOT refund any taxes and penalties incurred from IRS even when it is 100 percent their "TAX PRO's" error. Their tax pro Tammy ** in Long Beach MS sent to IRS a filing I never saw. I was given and signed for a different tax return in Feb. 2024. I immediately sent a check with the amount on my tax return as well as the IRS Voucher I was given by their "TAX PRO". In June 2024 I received a letter with penalties and interest from IRS stating I underpaid. I called and spoke to many H&R people who claimed it was no one at H&R's error.
After many more calls I spoke to IRS. As we compared my tax return from H&R to the one IRS received the figures were different on many lines. I went into H&R during their very limited hours of operation in JULY and after dealing with another 3 or 4 employees they finally realized their "TAX PRO'S' Error. An Amended tax form(the ONE I originally signed and received was sent to IRS) sometime in July by Edmond **. The ERROR was corrected. In the meantime, I sent monthly payments to IRS to avoid further penalties and interest.
I find out yesterday that I will not be reimbursed for my penalties and interest through no fault of my own. Reason H&R gave 1) I filed too late. They apparently did not read the notes, I filed in Feb. 2) I did not buy their insurance, I was given a quote of $150 to file my taxes when I made the appointment It cost $355.00 for an incorrect filing that I am still trying to get H&R to make right and why should I buy insurance to take care of THEIR errors? That's not what they advertise 3) This reason said because I still owe IRS, Again I fixed their mistake with IRS and owe nothing.
I will continue to tell everyone I know to stay clear of this shady outfit until I am reimbursed for the cost they have caused me. Even their Tax analyst Edmond ** agrees with me that I have been wronged by his company. He stated "YOU SHOULD SUE H&R Block." I have been given two case numbers over the last year #** and #**. Come on H&R, make this right. Taxes and penalties are $94.47. I have no intention of wasting any court's time over this amount and taking your employer's advice but I will continue posting this. Thanking you in advance for looking into this

A quarter of my taxes were not included in the filing process for 2022. The preparer did not request adequate documentation in her filing, did not follow up with me to verify all documents were provided, and then proceeded to blame me for failure to provide them as though the only reason their service was utilized was for any other reason than to assist in that process. I ended up owing a staggering amount in back-taxes (plus interest). After paying the additional amount, I filed for the reimbursement for the interest from H&R Block and after more than six months of watching them fumble around like idiots and going through six different individuals, I officially give up.
Even the employees expressed frustration with their inability to do nearly anything beyond nothing. There isn't a supervisor or manager on site at three different locations I visited. There isn't a corporate phone number to call. They basically give you the following options: 1) Let us do your taxes; and 2) That's it. The number of poor reviews I've left could be counted on one hand, but I can't stress enough that this is the least competent company I've ever worked with from every, potential angle. Avoid at all costs.

I entrusted H&R Block to handle my 2023 taxes, and it turned into a nightmare. During a virtual appointment with my assigned tax preparer, Miko, I provided all my information, including entering my banking details in their online form. I assumed this would transfer automatically to my tax forms—unfortunately, I was wrong. Miko entered someone else’s banking information on my return, resulting in over $6,000 in refunds being sent to the wrong account.
While Miko initially sent letters to the IRS and assured me I’d get the refund, she left the company shortly after and handed my account over to Morgan. That’s where the communication breakdown began. I called H&R Block repeatedly to speak with Morgan, only to be told he was unavailable. I left messages on his personal number and in the app, but aside from one response in May confirming they were “looking into it,” I never heard back. H&R Block’s customer service was no better. Every representative promised a follow-up that never came. Meanwhile, I spent hours on the phone with the IRS, hearing conflicting information ranging from “you’ll get your return eventually” to “we may not be able to recover your money.”
This ordeal has had a devastating impact on my family. We needed that refund to cover expenses and ended up going into debt. While H&R Block refunded the cost of the tax preparation, it hardly compensates for the financial and emotional toll of their mistake. If H&R Block had been upfront about the limits of what they could do after sending those letters, I might have prepared differently. Instead, I was left to chase answers and face the possibility that I may never get my refund. I will not be using H&R Block again and strongly caution others to think twice before entrusting them with something as important as their taxes.

I would highly recommend NEVER using their on-line service. My husband and I prepared our own taxes on-line and paid extra for a pro-review before filing. I should have realized after my first secure message with this “pro”, that paying for this service was a mistake. I had to pull regulation for them as they wanted to change my return quite significantly. I was left with feeling that all had been done. However, today I received a message from the IRS providing that I had not submitted my taxes. I went back on-line and there was nothing in there to show that I had completed anything for 2023. This is a mistake as I have history of the conversations.
I attempted to call ALL lines for someone to help and I was taken back when I was told that before I could speak with anyone, I had to update to their Pro Plan. Oh and no live chat without the plan either. I ended up having to call a local office, she was helpful but could offer me no more than “It is in there” and “it is marked as complete”. She couldn’t send me anything she was showing. NEVER AGAIN! To add, I tried contacting the customer support line seen in other reviews. This sent me back to where I couldn’t get an answer in the first place.

After that, we got misled about the ITIN request process with the IRS and ended up delaying the whole process by 6 months. Now that we finally got the ITIN, our tax specialist has moved to a different company, and nobody seems to take responsibility for the state taxes we already paid and still need to be filed. We have missed the state tax deadline because of these people's incompetence and lack of professionalism. Definitely not recommended.

(There is nowhere to write feedback on the corporate call center) I’ve been an H&R Block customer for years, both in the U.S. and Canada, but after this recent experience, I will never use their services again. I called their customer service to get help with a simple question about my Canadian tax return and encountered what can only be described as a total nightmare.
Not only were the representatives absolutely unhelpful, they were rude. They constantly overtalked me and refused to listen to my concerns. To top it off, one of them had the audacity to give me a fake phone number—an obvious marketing scam (800-561-2154) instead of directing me to the proper department. But the issues don’t stop there. After tax season, if you have any follow-up questions or issues, H&R Block’s secure messaging system is completely broken. Your tax representative doesn’t even receive a notification that they have a message, leaving you in limbo with no response or resolution. How does such a massive company fail at basic customer service and communication?
I’m beyond disappointed—I’m livid. This company clearly doesn't value its customers and seems to care even less about providing proper support. I strongly advise anyone reading this to avoid H&R Block at all costs. I would appreciate someone from corporate actually taking responsibility for this horrendous experience and contacting me directly.

I came to H&R because my previous accountant had retired. After seeing HIGHER PAYMENT than previous years that I had to pay I started questioning the process. I realized he is not familiar with S Corp and blamed me for not having told him. Then he misguided me that I have to work with two different agents WHICH IS NOT TRUE, ANY ONE PROF CAN DO BOTH BUSINESS (WHICH MAY USES S CORP AND PERSONAL) and that it was my responsibility to provide him with Sch. K or S corp. This all became evident because I had worked with a professional and took the time to bring him my earlier year taxes to show my payment was so high. Even after seeing my S corp on those he did not recognize the distinction in his work until I probed and started to compare and asked if he did use S corp. WHICH HE HAD NOT. And then I asked why would he not advise me of that option even if I had not brought my previous years.
It was embarrassing to have to question him in the cubic setting of their office and I should have asked for a manager but did not want to embarrass him. No reasonable answer was given and further bad info was given. I should have never had to bring in past evidence, and his answers and lack of knowledge/competency would have cost me lots of money if I had just trusted H&R. In addition H&R broken system of access to a real supervisor/manager or any real contact besides bogus 800 numbers and phone service co. is so disappointing and harmful in actual help for an already overwhelming tax filing system. After multiple calls I kept getting the same response from them, "We will escalate your claim and call you in 3-5 business days". Still no call, so at this point I am deleting my account. I am writing this because I wonder who else this happened to. Was I an isolated issue or has their whole system been hacked? This is very irresponsible in my opinion and should be addressed.

I call IRS and they confirmed that my return had been sent to H&R Block's bank and gave me the routing information. I tried to use the info to get my return, but customer service would not look into it. I called and called, I couldn't get anywhere with them, international service answers the customer service calls. If you decide to use H&R Block, think twice.

I’m responsible for a month but the other 10 months, is their fault. Customer service on phone and office is horrible. I can never get connected to a manager. They refuse to transfer my call or give me a number to call. I’ve never heard of a business doing this. They took my money and waited 10 months to get the job done right!! Refusing to connect or give me a number to a higher up is ridiculous!! No one ever calls me back, like they tell me. Will be reporting them to the BBB.

I would not recommend anyone use H&R Block for small business formation. They are notable for lack of professionalism in handling my case. I initially used H&R Block to expedite the process, but they have done nothing but make error after error. The grievous mistake is asking me to send in an original copy of a Certificate by Regulatory Board, which I spent time and an application fee to ascertain, only to lose it in their office, making no effort to contact me to relay such news. I only found out when the state itself contacted me. It has been more costly for me in terms of time and expenses to go through H&R Block Business formation than to directly apply to the state myself (in which I would have undoubtedly sent in the correct documentation as requested). Since my small business is a medical entity, this has caused unacceptable delays in patient care. Avoid at all costs.

If I could put negative stars, I would. In my opinion, the company should absolutely be dissolved. I'll start from the beginning: I filed my taxes myself this most recent tax season. However, a few weeks after this, I realized I had totally forgotten to include my income from a rental property that I have. Panicked and not wanting to screw up my taxes more, I went to an HR Tax Pro online to file an amendment. I explained my situation, sent the currently filed information, and answered his questions around what was missing (i.e. rental income). I had to explain about ten times what was missing. However, he told me he understood and that was that. I was charged $582 dollars for this amendment service. I had never filed an amendment before and was so panicked I did not look up how much it should cost. I was upset that it was so expensive, but paid it anyway.
After the amendment was done, I was told I owed thousands of dollars with my new state and federal combined. I was so confused as to how that was possible and the person doing my taxes essentially ignored me and/or provided incomplete answers to my questions. Again, I was confused and upset at how expensive it ended up being (I am in the middle of wedding planning) but I paid it because what else could I do. About a month after that, I received a letter from the IRS telling me I owed another $400 dollars. I contacted my tax pro via the portal to ask what was happening. At this point I noticed it was a different tax pro helping me. No communication about why that change was made. She also gave me incomplete/unhelpful information until I pushed for a call.
She evidently transferred me to someone else as I received a call from a man I hadn't seen on the online portal. I gave him a run down of the situation and he was stunned. I was not only completely (i.e. illegally) overcharged for the service, but I did not actually receive any service at all. Turns out, my taxes were done completely incorrectly. I'm talking wrong numbers, filed in the least optimal way, and the kicker, that I overpaid by one thousand at least. While on the phone, the man I spoke with promised a refund of my payment to HR as well as a re-amendment to determine the correct amount that I owed to the government. He called me the same week after he had fixed the amendment to let me know he was submitting it to the IRS, and to let me know that I'd be receiving a link to get my refund from HR. Great! Or so I thought.
I get the link from their client services team, which is really an oxymoron. I clicked to get my funds via Zelle. Nothing happened so I waited a couple days. When there was still nothing, I reached back out via the tax pro online portal. She promised another would be sent soon. Nothing was sent. Instead of her doing it herself, she told me to call client services. Before I could do that, a new link was sent. This time I selected Venmo and again, nothing happened. I again reached out and was again told to just call client services. Annoying, but fine.
I call the number given to me. I explain the situation, the person on the other side asks me a couple questions and then eventually tells me that she needs to transfer me to a different department. I get transferred. I again explain the same thing. The man on the other line doesn't ask me any questions but instead just tells me that he can't help and that he needs to transfer me to another department. I continue to be tossed around until, while waiting to be transferred, the line dropped. No one attempted to call me back.
I call the office number closest to me, the number from which the only person who has been helpful in this process called me from. A man answers, I give him a run down. He creates an official complaint for me and tells me folks will reach out 3-5 days later. He also tells me that the person who did help me is gone on holiday and gives me no indication on when he will be back. I asked about the status of my re-amendment and was told that it can take up to 12 weeks. No one had told me that thus far.
Since that last call, I have received another email from client services letting me know that payment failed and that they'd try to send another link. So, clearly no one was told that I just wanted a paper check. And no one has reached out to me about the official complaint that I filed. This has been without a doubt the WORST experience I've ever had with a company or client services team.

So I just wanted to put this out there that H&R Block is horrible to work with if you have any issues. We did our taxes this year with them because we had a bunch of different life events happen and we didn't want to mess anything up. Our biggest mistake was using this business. Payments and refunds aside, we got a letter from our local tax agency and was told we were missing information that was on a W-2. I called them and was told to call a different branch. I called again and was told they would handle it. I messaged the H&R Facebook for support and was told they would handle it. They closed my ticket without informing me or handling the situation. I had the ticket reopened and was told they would look into it. Still nothing. We ended up handling the situation ourselves. But for the money spent the customer service is horrible and we will not be using them again.

The second time we showed up a preparer in the back of the store said he’d do our taxes, we took him up on it, unfortunately the preparer made a mistake. We realized a mistake the next day as I went over the return, so we went back to the store as another preparer agreed it was a mistake, he sent in an addendum to the return. PROBLEM SOLVED? NO!! We’ve now been waiting approximately two months with the IRS In review of the returns (our tax money on hold)…
The sad part is that we’ve been paying extra for the “Peace of mind policy“ H&R Block offers at an extra cost. I called customer support and have had a big run around case # **, and a new case # **…. I worked at a call center once and we had to tell them that the call is being recorded. There was an issue with a phone call near the end of the season, and my manager said don't worry about it because the general manager Tom can pull the call himself and listen to it. I was shocked. I have used H&R Block a few times. I've had no problems. But this tax year 2023, they really made things difficult. So if they mess up on your return, don't expect them to do anything! So, I filed my taxes, and the IRS rejected them - due to an on-line programming error - they didn't remove my 20 year old child. So I fixed that and sent it back in. The first time it was filed, in CO, my claim to the TABOR refund was on the State Tax form. When I sent the corrected form, it was not.
I call H&R Block three times. The first time I was told that the online processing of the TABOR was not working and that I would have to call the Department of Revenue myself. The second time I called, I got a little more help. The third time they confirmed that I would have to file an amended return. So I'm trying to file an amended return and all H&R Block does is send you to the Colorado website to fill out multiple forms to file an amended return. Then you have to print all of them and then mail them. So, tell me this! I paid them $104 for my on-line tax returns. They made two mistakes and I'M the one that has to fix them. I'm so frustrated and pissed. I will never use them again!!!!

Also, when bringing software errors to the attention of the company, the response is: someone will look at this within five business days. After years of using Turbotax, I decided I am now too old and would give H&R Block a try for 2023. I regret not checking reviews more thoroughly. I went to the appointment with all information carefully detailed so it was only necessary to plug it into the system. It should have taken no longer than 30-45 minutes at most. When it came to my qualified charitable distribution, Gene had no idea where to put that. He persisted in saying it could just be used as a deduction and I had to argue with him repeatedly until he finally consulted another employee and together they figured it out. In total, I was there for 2 hours.
At that point I had no confidence that the returns were correct but just wanted to leave. I refused the $39 refund transfer and just wanted to escape. I was shocked at the $380 I was charged and after complaining, a "$25 coupon" was used to reduce the fee to $355. Considering the fact that I was teaching the preparer about QCD, I thought it should have been seriously reduced. After being told the Fed and State returns had been accepted I was concerned about the Fed refund. After a couple of weeks, I received a letter from the IRS asking if I had filed a return. I went online as instructed and provided the requested information.
When the return check arrived in the mail, I noticed there were errors in the address and felt thankful that it arrived at all. I then checked the H&R Block records and discovered Gene had misspelled the street name, had omitted the Apt. number and the +4 zip was wrong. No wonder the IRS was questioning who I was! Now I need to send a correction to the IRS. I will never again depend on a "professional" and will check and correct every line which should not be necessary considering the fees. Next year it's Turbotax again, stressful but a great deal less money.

Their website is almost as bad as Freetaxusa, and their AI is so primitive it doesn't even read key documents properly. The AI failures are jaw dropping-along with reps claiming to be "tax pros" when they know almost nothing about taxes.
Their AI chat box is a total joke, worse than most and that says a lot since we all tend to agree chat boxes suck. So they botched both of my returns and then on 4/16 & 4/17 they essentially blamed me (after following all their prompts and doc uploads) after their "pro-review" said my taxes were flawless and ready to file. I did everything exactly right, but their cheap software was a total fail. One of their reps even got so frustrated with his inability to fix my returns, he recommended a "workaround" that was illegal and totally fraudulent. And he actually defended it! Incompetent and criminally shameless, this describes the 2024 H & R Block Tax Prep very accurately. If you want help, that middle tier is useless. The online help could barely do anything. It also seemed like this might be sourced out. Every single thing to A LOT of explanation. The person attempted to help, and seemed to know the basics of the system, but then got stuck, and said we would have to reset and start from scratch after they attempted to "fix" something on their end (it was basically just trying to remove something that he advised I enter, but we should NOT have entered it). After being unable to fix unless they reset I just said forget it, and thought I would go with the upgraded service...

When "working" with the "tax pro" she was not very professional. Using very casual language. If that was thinly thing, no big deal. However, I had to handhold her through the entire process. It is normal to go through and see if itemized or standard deductions are better. So we walked slowly through that. I advised that I should be partially exempt from the additional tax penalty on the early withdraw from IRA. Should could not understand the difference between EXEMPTION and Itemized deduction. After several attempts to define/differentiate. she seemed to understand. I was wrong. When telling her I qualify for EXEMPTION, because I see the criteria for medical expenses of over 7.5% of AGI, she again got stuck/confused, reverting to thinking about itemized deductions in terms of itemized DEDUCTIONS, versus the CRITERIA requirement to be EXEMPT from Penalties (the same expenses are used for both)
I sent the links to the IRA page, which outlines the exemptions from tax penalties. I sent her other resources. I even outline the math. I ALSO DISCOVERED the Tax form necessary to apply the exemption (after I had incorrectly questioned if it is applied in a different manner. Still. while I was wrong the first time, it was a question. You would think a "PRO" would 1) Know the difference between an Exemption and a Deduction. 2) Know what tax form is necessary, or at least know that one is necessary, even if she didn't know the exact one. She was clueless about ALL of it.
Throughout the process, I had to be the one to follow up. She never contacted on her own. Even after she requested I email her documents, and I did, there was zero response to my emails. I had to call to follow up. Here too, the office lady, didn't know how to transfer calls. The "Tax Pro" never responded to messages I left. I only was able to speak with her when she happened to be available. This took several attempts. Eventually, she said she couldn't do what I asked of her (apply my exemption). AND it took me calling her, for her to tell me this.
I ended up going with TurboTax. The sign up process was much cleaner and seamless, unlike HR Block. We had connection issues, but nothing like HR Black which had problems with their systems which severely impacted each type of service level they offered. Turbotax options, and execution of those options were seamless, and I was able to do it all from home, online with the Tax Pro.
I immediately stated I had the IRA early withdraw, but should be exempt from additional tax penalty AND wanted to also see if it's better to do Itemized deductions versus standard. This Tax Pro knew exactly what "exemption" meant, with no confusion, and I started exactly the same way I did with HR Block. I also had no need to advise of the tax form needed. This Tax Pro was on it. I ended up having to owe $1000 less than HR Block quoted (multiple times), WITHOUT HANDHOLDING like I had to with HRBLOCK. I was also able to go through the process in under an hour, and it only took that long due to connection issues. HR Block took days of back and forth with me doing all the follow up.
Every aspect of this HR Block experience was atrocious from online help to office "service". It was made even more clear when working with TurboTax, how miserable the HR Block experience was. What is more sad is that I have been satisfied with them in previous years, with Tax Advisors who knew their stuff, and could also communicate well.

Review for the H&R Block in Holly Springs, GA. I never write a review, but I want other people to know the treatment I received from H&R Block. I had Sophia ** file my taxes for the year 2020. I had no issues filing my taxes with her until I got an audit from the IRS in 2023. Sophia ** told me to bring the paperwork to the office stating that “we would get this all sorted out”. I brought the papers to her and asked her how she put me in a tax bracket I was not qualified for? Why did she not tell me the eligibility here for this tax break, and why was I not told she did this? She never responded to any of my questions.
While I was in Sophia’s office she told me she filed everything correctly, and I GAVE HER WRONG information. The requirements for the tax break was that I had to be 24 years old (I was only 20 and I am still not 24), another requirement being that I had a child (I never had a child and still do not). How was she able to do this then try to blame it on me? Not only did she make a mistake she also told me “I was ignorant to the law”. Is that not why you pay $500 for someone at H&R Block to do your taxes? The reason someone would go to a tax professional is to have professional help. That statement was absurd to say to a client and the fact my taxes audit shows that she is ignorant to the law. She used my age against me, trying to manipulate me for her wrongdoings. I could not believe I was treated this way.
Eventually she wrote a letter in response to the IRS audit, stating that I did qualify for the tax break. She reassured me that she did not file my taxes wrong, and the IRS WILL drop the issue. I left the office feeling many doubts about the way Sophia ** had treated me and the way she handle my taxes. A few months later I received another letter from the IRS stating that they were not going to drop the issue, because I did not meet the requirements. I reached out to Sophia again because she said “if they sent another letter to let her know, as they may need more information.” I sent her the documents and she called me a few days later to inform me that “I have to pay back the IRS, they are not going to drop the issue because they hired more people to do audits.” Then she continued to say “This usually works and the IRS does not audit for this but I did not know they were going to hire more people.”
She stated that she had spoken with two of her colleagues about the issue and they said the IRS was not going to drop the issue. She apologized multiple times on the phone and told me she would try to get my money back for filing my taxes through H&R Block. I never heard back from Sophia about resolving the issue. Therefore, I reached out to corporate to file a claim and everyone I spoke with on the phone told me the way she treated me in her office was unacceptable and taking a “chance” on my taxes was unlawful. I never heard ANYTHING back until I called again, and the representative told me that Sophia closed the case stating “She filed the taxes correctly”. How did she file my taxes correctly if the IRS’s Audit found a huge mistake? How do you allow a tax preparer to state they filed something correctly without a supervisor to look over it?
I was on the phone with multiple people from H&R Block stating she did make a mistake and this issue needed further action. I have called H&R Block Corporate NUMEROUS times and have multiple different cases against this women. After being on the phone for 2 weeks about this case, the manager from this H&R Block told me she did not believe me. She thought Sophia telling me I was “ignorant to the law” was not calling me dumb. I would never recommend friends, family, or my worst enemy to H&R Block. She takes people for granted. Using people’s ignorance to the law to manipulate them and make them feel horrible. I am unable to comprehend how she is able to potentially ruin people’s finances and lives and gets out of it scot free. H&R Block is clearly liable for this error, yet they are not taking any responsibility for their mistake. They should at minimum refund my money they charged me to do my taxes.

I have had a great deal of respect for the professionalism of my tax preparer, who my wife and I have used for several years, and appreciation for H&R Block’s affordable rates and accessibility. After our last meeting with our tax preparer, I happily gave her an excellent review when H&R Block asked for feedback. However, what I subsequently learned was disturbing. At the end of our last session, she gave me the amount of my estimated quarterly payment but told me that since the State now only accepts online payments, she would not be giving me the vouchers and envelopes to send in to the State as she routinely does for the Federal estimated quarterly taxes.
So, I went on the NY State site but had trouble opening up an account and called the State’s customer service line. The representative couldn’t help me open an account but suggested that it was perfectly OK to send it in by mail using the State’s IT-2105 form, which I subsequently did. I am writing this review because it doesn’t feel good to be given such wrong information, and I cannot understand why it was done. Sadly, it has eroded some of my trust in H&R Block and, even more unfortunately, in the tax preparer.

I wanted to take a moment to share some feedback regarding my recent experience with H&R Block in preparing my tax filings. While I appreciate the convenience and efficiency of your services, I was taken aback by the unexpectedly high cost associated with preparing my relatively straightforward tax return. It would have been beneficial to have a clearer understanding of the pricing structure upfront. The pricing seems somewhat arbitrary and dependent on the amount of return one expects. This lack of transparency can be quite disconcerting for clients like myself who value honesty and clarity in financial matters.
Moving forward, I believe providing customers with more transparent pricing information upfront would significantly enhance the overall experience and foster trust and satisfaction among clients. I understand the importance of running a profitable business, but as a customer, it's equally important for me to feel that I'm getting fair value for the services rendered. I hope you consider this feedback as you continue to serve your clients. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I will not be using this service again because of the vague information around pricing. Sincerely, Neko.

Spent 2 hours last month at a local H & R Block getting taxes done. The person doing our taxes was professional but did not seem to know what he was doing with their software. He had to ask coworkers how to input thing. We spent 2 hours there for a simple return. Come to find out weeks later our taxes were never e-filed when I went to check on our refund status. They could not give a reason as to why they were not filled. After looking over my taxes at this point....I was suspect that something was wrong seeing we owed $2100 more then what we paid last year but did not want to go back and complain seeing we had spent 2 hours their prior.
Anyway there were multiple mistakes found after I just reviewed them. My business mileage was never inputted...we expressed when we checked out for $480.00 that we were paying $2100 more then we did last year when I did them...but were assured everything was correct. We had a busy few months but were just happy to have them done and I would not have looked into it further if things had been e-filed properly. Admittedly I was wholly unfamiliar with the relatives taxes and went to H&R Block because the relative had used them the prior 3 years. They filed information incorrectly using an email as back up rather than confirming the information that was available on 1099. There was the penalty and interest assessed. I did go to an office (my original office was closed) within 60’days of the notice (as required for their offering of ‘peace of mind’ - I was unaware of the time restraint) the representative did not note this in the file nor did she explain the time restraint. When I went to get it sorted with the original office the worker admitted the error but said I was outside the time line so they would not honor the ‘peace of mind’ agreement which I also paid extra for because as I stated these were not my taxes. We used H&R Block in person tax preparation service for many years. It was not the cheapest option but was very convenient and we trusted them. We intended to use them for life. But this year (2024) they sent a personalized email (under the term 'fileversary') to us with an obvious misstatement. This was a personalized message, not a generic email with typical marketing hyperbole. I called their help line to determine whether the email was fake or real - it was real, so I had the issue escalated, and confirmed that their records had the correct information about this personal topic, so the personalized email was an outright LIE.
The help line people were very pleasant, but even after many calls and multiple escalations over 5 weeks they were totally unable to reach anyone in the corporate office who cares that they lied to a 'customer for life'. Multiple emails and snail mail letters to the marketing department and CMO Jill Cress also generated no response. Stay away if you don't want to be lied to. We are going to a competitor this year.

I had a very unsettling conversation today with an unsympathetic H&R Block manager by the name of Amber **. She called me because I filed a complaint against the Palm Harbor, Boot Ranch branch because I had left them 6 different messages over a period of one month to come in and go over my taxes. What's worse is I referred my niece to them who also made two (2) calls, ALL calls were never returned to either of us.
I have been with H&R Block for over 15 years. I also stopped into the office and left three (3) different messages with staff, asking to have Josh (tax representative) or Joe (office manager) to return my calls, NONE were ever returned. There was no empathy whatsoever from Amber. She was uncaring, condescending and rude. Entire call was documented. She had no desire to diffuse the situation, no apology was made, no empathy whatsoever, Amber could care less. What she did though was make up one excuse after another for not being able to return my calls. First excuse being that someone broke their leg, second excuse there was a serious car accident and the list goes on and on. She was rambling and rambling, trying to justify why my calls could not be returned.
Amber NEVER took into account that I had been trying to reach this branch for OVER a month AFTER I had dropped off all my tax forms a month ago. She NEVER took into account that I've been a long-standing customer who has paid over $20,000 in fees to H&R Block. She never took into account the amount of trust customers place with H&R Block in handling very personal information. She never listened to me when I told her that I received a call from H&R Block's call center asking me to pay what I owed for doing my taxes. When the call center rep called, I informed them that I've been trying to reach someone at that office for over a month so I could come in and sit down to go over my taxes. This is customary for customers to do at H&R Block before making payment.
I was stunned as were the business people in the room that heard the entire conversation, because Amber was on speaker phone. Two of these people have been long standing customers like myself with H&R Block along with my niece. I am stunned at the lack of concern Amber showed me and blatant disrespect. She offered no apology whatsoever, just numerous excuses and talking down to me. I would expect this coming from a man, but never a woman. I would've hoped for more respect and sympathy from a woman, I received anything but that‼️ After she hung up, I felt like I had just been scolded! Needless to say, she ruined my day.
I just don't understand the lack of respect and unethical behavior this woman showed. Needless to say this will be the last year I ever deal with H&R Block and they also lost three customers as well. Shame on H&R Block for allowing this type of behavior to go on. They are terrible at this office. Josh also never responded to us after several messages were left for him as well. The only person that I spoke to today that showed any type of sympathy and professionalism, was Joe the branch manager. I ended up calling to speak to him after I had not heard from anyone after a month of trying. To add insult to injury, Josh who did not return any my calls is supposedly going to be the new office manager, and Joe will be retiring. A very scary thought‼️

On 2.22.2024, I returned to Sandra ** to complete a 2023 Fed 1040x because I found another W2 form. During the processing of the 1040x she was unable to allocate the $2002 that I had already paid therefore the 1040x indicated, erroneously, that I owed $2187 when in fact it should have been only $185. At that moment, I told her to remove the automatic payment option so that I wouldn’t be over charged. She assured me that she did just that.
On 2.26.2024, there was another automatic withdrawal from my bank by the IRS for the amount of $2187. I immediately contacted HR Block & Sandra to inform them that I did not authorize this transaction. Sandra informed me that the 1040x was rejected so she had her manager, Kimberly **, fix the issue including the appropriate amount due which should have been $185. I learned this was not true.
I requested that Sandra contact the IRS to explain my issue and was informed by the IRS agent that HR Block pushed through the same exact (wrong) 2023 Fed1040x a total of 3 times. Additionally, Kimberly ** was the one who pushed all 3 amendments through. This was done without my knowledge, consent or signature. I’m very concerned that these duplicate erroneous 1040x forms will be reprocessed by the IRS and I will not have funds in my account to support those withdrawals if they occur. To try to remedy the situation, they scheduled us for an appointment 30 minutes later, at a different location. When we arrived they told us that the lady we were scheduled with wasn't there (again), but that someone else would help us.
We sat down with this other lady and went over our situation, providing her with a bunch of documents. She seemed sincerely eager to assist us. At the end of the meeting, she told us that she wanted to go over everything with her manager, and that she would contact us no later than Wednesday. On Thursday, after not hearing from her, we called the office. They told us that she was not there, but scheduled a phone meeting for us for Friday at 6pm. They also told us that we could message her through their online system. I sent her a message, along with some more backup documents. Oddly I noticed that none of our original documents were in our online folder anymore.
By 6:30 Friday evening we had not heard from her, so we called the office. They said that she wasn't there and wouldn't be in until Sunday. Today I went online to send her a message to remind her that we need to have a resolution, or at least contact the IRS, by March 4th. I decided to come forward as they might be hurting others who don’t persist in defending their interests. I went in person the H&R office as I was filing Form 8938 and was worried I’d make a mistake if I did it myself. Unfortunately my Tax Expert had no idea about that form. So she started to research it with me sitting next to her (still fine). But the way she understood the IRS website was to advise me against filing the form.
I persisted. She called a colleague from another cubicle and the colleague agreed with me that the form was needed indeed. Then we moved to a regular filing. The number she arrived as to be my return was way lower than what I arrived at on the H&R Block website on my own. So I pushed… Turned out, she believed that HSA account is subject to taxation. She said “I’ve been telling people the last 7 years that HSA is not as good of a deal as everyone thinks”. She has been filing taxes for people this way for 7 years… I requested her colleague to consult again and that person agreed with me.
If I didn’t say anything, if I didn’t do my own research, if I didn’t have my laptop with me and access to internet, it all wouldn’t turn out well. But then again, I was charged almost $300 for this service. I asked if I could get a discount since I did a lot of teaching them that night and they agreed but said that without the manager present, they couldn’t give it to me. I really hope they learned since last year and give better advice to others.

It gets worse, the Emerald card has insane charges to use your own money. Going to a bank to withdraw your money from the card is 35 dollars alone.

I approached H&R Block on October 17, 2023, for an amendment of my tax return, expecting a straightforward service. Unfortunately, an error made by their tax preparer was overlooked, causing a delay in my $13.7k refund. My efforts to resolve this commenced on January 5, 2024, when I visited their Las Vegas office, but the lack of the IRS’s notice hindered the process. District Manager in Training Jamie ** intervention only complicated matters, leading to unnecessary delays.
By January 21, I was told an enrolled agent was handling my case, but on January 23, Ms. ** reported they couldn’t reach the IRS and proposed to follow up on January 25. Dissatisfied, I insisted on immediate action, resulting in Ms. ** referring me to their legal department. After a futile hour-long call and denied access to her superior’s information, I sought assistance elsewhere.
Despite setting up an appointment with the original tax preparer for the next day, it was canceled by Ms. **, who scheduled another meeting with herself on January 24, where she was uncooperative and dismissive. I left feeling criminalized for highlighting their error. I never received the promised follow-up, and my attempts to communicate were met with resistance.
By January 29, after finally correcting the amendment with a competent CPA, I called H&R Block corporate for an update, only to be informed of a 'cease and desist' note on my account. This experience has been exceptionally stressful, compounded by H&R Block's failure to refund the service fee or honor their service guarantee. Their handling of the situation, particularly Ms. ** actions, was not only professionally embarrassing but also personally disconcerting. The situation was made worse by the vague trespass notice and termination of our business relationship. I am left with no choice but to report this to the IRS and the attorney general.

A week ago, Jan 2024, I received a letter from IRS indicating I didn’t file my 2020 taxes. I call H&R Block 800 number & given an appointment for the following day at 4:30 pm. Never received a call. I called at 5:15 pm and was told Charlotte was double booked and she already had a customer in the office. We discussed the issue. I was told she needed to get with her manager/supervisor (unsure of title) the next day but would email me the following day with an answer. I haven’t heard back for 3 days. IRS & taxes are not things to mess with. The only reason for 2 stars is because the online person and Charlotte were very kind and reassuring. There is just no follow through and obviously no care for customers.

I always thought HR Block would be reliable so any outside entity that they affiliate with would be truthful. I applied for a refund advance and was denied after receiving an expected return of almost 10k. Not one penny I didn’t get approved for. So upon doing my own research a little deeper Pathward whatever this place runs a credit check. If knew this I would have never applied there. I had another place offering me a loan without a credit check that stated it clearly NO CREDIT CHECK but the fine prints said they run a credit check so I paid almost 600 dollars for a return without any advance when I could have got it done for 138 dollars with a loan off my expected return. It's a scam to get you to pay for those services because you need money fast. I’m out of money. Really needed the loan and I’m paying 500 more for absolutely nothing. I will never deal with HR Block again ever. What happened to the satisfaction guarantee?

Having filed my taxes with HR Block's downloaded software (federal and state e-file) for many years, I was disheartened to have had an experience this past year that will prevent me from ever using their products again. I completed the data input and received verification that there were no errors or omissions. Unfortunately, while all of the forms were completed and the calculations correct, the software's e-filing did not include one critical form required by the state. Failure to include that form in the e-file - which had been included in my past e-filings - resulted in a misclassification for property tax purposes (those tax bills are not sent out until late October and are due in November). We have had to pay nearly $1,000 in property taxes that we would not have had to pay if the software had functioned properly and included the form that had been generated in the state e-file.
I filed a complaint with HR Block and struggled to get their claims investigators to even read the details of the complaint or to review any of the documents I submitted. When they did finally review all of the materials, they denied our claim, stating that they are only responsible for arithmetic errors and NOT failure to file forms. This policy seems to attempt to protect HR Block from liability associated with any number of software defects and, therefore, can be assumed to affect their quality control protocols.
If you do use HR Block (not sure why anyone would given that there are other options!) you might want to avoid the e-filing option as they will not stand behind the product if it fails to include required forms in the filing.

I initially submitted my taxes through H&R Block on March 2nd, 2023. H&R Block failed to submit my taxes correctly, causing it to be rejected by the state on March 21st. I asked them on March 22nd to investigate why it had been rejected even after submitting multiple times. On March 23rd, H&R Block's tax service representative told me that it was "pending by the state." On that same day, I asked them what I could do to make sure the return went through correctly. They messaged me back on the 29th (claiming my message had not come through until six days later), telling me that as far as they knew, the return had been accepted.
However, by April 3rd, I was still getting automated notices from H&R Block that I needed to approve the return. On April 4th, the tax service representative still claimed that the returns had been approved. April 25th, I received a canned response, and I replied back on the 27th asking how I could get the returns approved. On May 16th, they responded with more canned messages. It turns out that H&R Block had not sent off my tax return at all until 6/26/2023. I had to call the Department of Revenue on June 14th, June 16th, June 30th, July 10th, and July 25th in order to find out what had gone wrong with filing. I finally simply filed the tax return by myself on August 18th. H&R Block sent me one more message on August 25th to admit that they had *not* been working on my return, but also to discourage me from fixing the problem on my own.
In summary, the tax service representatives at H&R Block deceived me into thinking that the returns had been taken care of, and refused to admit that there was an issue, even after I went through a months-long process to contact them multiple times over multiple platforms. I did everything in my power to help them perform the promised service I paid them for, but the due date had passed by the time I was able to circumvent their obstruction. As soon as I was able to figure out that H&R Block had not--and would not--file my return correctly, I had to do it myself, and deal with late fees on top of everything else.

Not only did they sit on my taxes, holding my return hostage, refusing to file them due to an IT "glitch" that nobody can resolve (up until the week they were due), they are charging me money to hold my return hostage. Run far away from HR Block's online service, especially wasting money for a "tax pro". Unresponsive, tax pro says to contact CS, CS says tax pro has to do it, and they go back and forth with nobody offering to do anything. So here I am, in April, waiting multiple weeks for someone to fix the issue and simply send my taxes to the state. There is no "it department" or "tech support", just a bunch of customer service reps that can't do anything, except tell you to contact another department. I was fully ripped off out of my money (multiple hundred dollars) to have nothing but a headache, they couldn't even answer a question the time I used that service, and I had to figure it out myself.
If you want someone to hold your taxes hostage over a simple technical support issue with their website, and rip you off, they are your people. They will make meetings with you which they will ignore, they will ignore your messages and emails and pinky swear they will return your call and will never return your call. I went through an unbelievable amount of stress due to their pathetic software and even more pathetic customer service that just didn't care about anything. They ended up making me print out a paper copy and making me mail it to the state. Now, my payment to the state, that went through their software, wasn't sent. I filed a BBB complaint and they said everything is A-okay and they consider it resolved. It is not resolved and I will not stop until I am issued a full refund for the hundreds of dollars I paid for the worst tax experience in decades. Get your crap together.

Summary at the end. I booked the full package which includes a tax advisor that looks over all the data to make sure it is correct. In the beginning, for some reason the assigned tax advisor switched 2-3 times, but ok, as long as they get their job done it's fine with me. I sent in all my documents and the tax advisor wasn’t sure with what to do with one of them. Basically telling me, that I should file the taxes as she prepared them and IRS will make a decision. Then, when it was time to approve and sign the documents that the tax advisor finished, it only went downhill. There was no button or page that would get me to the approval process. I did all the standard stuff like clearing my cache, deleting cookies, trying another browser, another device, but nothing helped. So, I called the support line that my tax advisor pointed me to. Turns out, this was the support line for the internal H&R technical network support which couldn't help me at all.
They forwarded me to the H&R customer support. After talking to them for a while they said that they couldn't help me and then I got transferred to another support. Here they walked me through all the standard steps again (cookies, cache, etc.) but of course that didn't help since I already did that. I urged them to push this to the next escalation level since I've already been on the phone for about 2 hours. So, they then opened a ticket for me (**) and told me that the tech guys will reach out to me in about 3-5 business days. Of course, a week later, I still didn't hear from anyone. Two weeks later, still no response. So I wrote them on Twitter and they gave me another phone number. I called that one and the guy working there knew immediately what was going on. They had a major update and the update basically had a huge bug where it would not redirect some customers to the correct URL for the approval process.
He gave me the correct URL and then it finally worked. Then, when I thought everything was finished, two weeks later I received another email that my tax files are ready for approval and signature. I reached out to my tax advisor and she told me that they had another major technical error and basically I had to do the whole approval process again.
So, to summarize: I paid over 200$ for the full service to not have to bother with anything and have an easy tax filing season. The tax advisor did not have the knowledge needed to do my taxes. Additionally, H&R Block managed it, that I spent WEEKS with trying to figure out THEIR technical issues. In the end I spent more time with technical issues than the time I would have needed doing everything on my own!
They never ever got back to me on the open case for the technical issue I had with them (although a response was promised within 3-5 days). And on top of it, when I complained about their whole service, they opened up a case for that, customer service reached out to me to see how they could make it right, they told me that they’d get back to me on the same day and of course a week has passed and no one bothered to get back to me. Never in my life did I receive so little compared to what was promised during the sale.

I was told this was due to a "system error". I immediately digitally resigned and resubmitted the documentation. No action was taken by H&R Block. Six days have elapsed after the tax deadline. H&R Block has yet to take any action nor have they contacted me. When trying to communicate with their staff via telephone they offer no resolution.

I promised myself I was not going to pay a dollar to H&R block this year and I haven’t. I have however still had to spend hours of my time on the phone and online with them, and the IRS trying to sort out the mess that was made back in 2020 when I made the original mistake of engaging H&R Block’s services to complete my taxes.
Back story: COVID was in full force, I had found myself in a very abusive relationship, it was the first time in my life I was filing joint taxes and I had made been put in the situation where I had to withdraw my retirement to continue to survive. I chose to enlist the professional services of H&R Block to ensure I was not making mistakes in my calculations. I selected a package with the peace of mind guarantee, I was sure that if I had a company like H&R Block behind me then I should be set.. Boy was I wrong!
First the agent calculated things incorrectly because she was not familiar with the current laws. I went back through the taxes, recalculated everything myself, then went back over it with her step by step, at which point we resubmitted together. At this point the only service I was getting from H&R Block was the peace of mind guarantee, as I had done the tax calculations myself. This was the most important part, and the only thing that mattered (as far as H&R Block was concerned) I wanted to make sure I had that protection since the return was unusual at best for me, and I am not a "tax pro".
Unfortunately to add to things, my then husband held out on a W2 until after the taxes had been submitted to the IRS. That brings me to us doing an amend. I contacted H&R Block to let them know I needed to Amend the taxes due to the missing W2. I provided the missing information. The H&R Block Tax Pro made her calculations, sent me forms to be signed and at this point I took her calculations as being good and I did not redo them myself. Turns out I should have, there was a large return due to the retirement withdraw and if there had been a tax owed because of the W2 that was withheld not being handled correctly it would have been massively easy to have taken care of it at that time.
The first year that I learned there were funds due to IRS because of miscalculated taxes I called H&R block, the agents gave me the runaround about getting me back to the same woman who did my taxes the year before. This went on the entire tax season, I would be transferred to the location that she supposedly worked at (in a different state) to make an appointment, she would never call for these appointments, I would call to speak to her manager, I would leave message after message. What got me a response is leaving a review online of my experience.. I got an email from someone in an office asking what they could do for me, they said they would look into things.
Here I am 2 years later, still dealing with the same problem. The peace of mind guarantee says you must contact H&R Block within 60days... I can't help but laugh when I read that. The first time I called and spoke to a rep and told them I had bought the product that said that H&R block would help me if something went wrong, they acted like they didn’t even know what I was talking about. I did not use the right words... I work in healthcare - definitely a form of customer service. I see people when they are not in their best form. If I wanted to play word games and act like I can’t help when my patients don’t say exactly the right thing, I would do a real disservice to all of my patients, and the industry I work for.
I’m not asking H&R Block to do anything I didn’t first pay them to do. I’m not asking them to do anything they haven’t stated in black and white that they would do. I’m asking them to do what they claim to be in business to do. Help with taxes and stand behind their tax professionals. I have had my state, federal and tabor refunds intercepted ever since I started doing business with H&R Block. Something that has never happened to me before, and the IRS claims I still owe them money. Why? Hell if I know. I am doing everything I can to figure it out, I keep calling H&R Block but every time I call the only thing that happens is the agent wants to get me back in contact with the agent that screwed up my taxes originally back in 2020. She is the last person I want to speak to, on top of the fact I wouldn’t be in the situation I’m in if the woman responded to messages… But please keep trying to put me back in contact..

I have used H&R Block online before and these interruptions seem to be increasing and becoming more confusing overtime. 2) At the very end of my state return the program told me I needed to talk with a tax pro, I accepted the charge, and was told a tax pro would get back to me. No one did for several days and then when I went back to the program it told me I needed to file an extension.
3) I canceled the tax pro and was refunded for that charge but when I went to e-file - my federal return was rejected but the program did not allow me to address the problem - so I was stuck in a loop with no way out except to print my returns and mail them it. In my opinion that defeats the purpose and the problem seemed to be with the program. 3) When I printed my return I was surprised to see a state return I never initiated and for a state I never lived or worked in. I was told to delete it from the program but I could not because it was never entered into the program. 4) For all this hassle I still had to pay for "deluxe" services that were anything but.

The cause is that the software double adds my husband's and I social security taxes and then claims it as an overpayment. But we didn't overpay.
The workaround for the glitch is to claim that both W2 are under one of us, that is the only way the system doesn't double add our social security tax. The rep kind of brushed me off, and told me to just wait for the update to the software which was coming out on March 3rd, and everything would be fixed if it was broken. So I waited, and then e-filed my taxes on March 4th. The calculations did not change, but since they are suppose to be tax experts, I had to assume they know more than I do. A couple of weeks later, the IRS sent me a letter wanting more information since something did not look right to them. My return had me getting $500 back from the IRS. I immediately replied to the letter, and gave them the info they asked for. I have not received a response back yet, but since that time, H&R Block has had 2 more software updates.
The latest one was on March 30th...only 2 weeks before the tax filing deadline. When I updated my software, my filed return went from me getting a $500 refund to now owing the IRS $28,000! How is a company allowed to be in business when they change their product with constant updates that changes the results of your tax return in such a drastic manner? And it now says there will be another update on April 14th! How is that even legal? For all of those people that bought the H&R Block software and filed their taxes early, there could be many mistakes on their returns. This is totally unacceptable! The tax laws for the previous year are in place on January 1st, so there should be no updates allowed after January 31st. Buyers beware!!!

So the helpdesk said she can try for refund which I agreed to and so I inquired about the process and what she said was so unacceptable. She said to write a letter and include the address, name, photoid and my SSN along with purchase receipt and mail (not email) to some address, I said I am not comfortable sharing my SSN like that to which she said "I can't help you if you are not comfortable", and all in all I am stuck with a software that doesn't work and wasted time and money on that. I would like to get my refund but not at risk of identity theft.

Second, this is the second year in a row that I've run into weird technical issues. It's weird because I used it for 3 or 4 years in a row before that without any glitches. I'm not sure what they've done behind the scenes but clearly, their technical team is dropping the ball. I WILL NOT use H&R Block for this reason when I file my 2023 taxes.

I've tried to submit our taxes on several devices (computers & phones), and several internet connections. Each time, it's the same error. When we tried to download our files from the site and we get a notification that the file is "corrupted" and unable to be downloaded.
I've contacted several of their "agents" with no resolve. I was told that someone would contact me 7-10 business days from when they finally escalated my case. I'm on day 14, and having to go through the entire process of contacting "agent" after agent who is "escalating" my case. This evening I was finally told "We have had a few issues with updates due to the changes from the IRS but our team has been working diligently on resolving them." I asked if the issues would be resolved before the IRS filing deadline and received no response. I'm going to look into a different tax service. They had no problem taking their fees out of my state refund while my federal was being withheld.. Not to mention they don't give any discounts or incentives to long term clients. Being a single self employed mother I find it absolutely ridiculous that their fees jump around so much. Paying 553.00 to have them done in 2020, And last year 520.00. So this year I decided to go with a program of those of low income to see my refund.
They make a big deal to advertise maximizing your refund. When in reality they can give you the same amount you can get from free programs. This is not to mention the people working on your taxes are those who are retired or needing extra money. Needless to say I've gone through so many who have worked there, And most of them don't look like they have the mind to be doing taxes. They constantly ask others for help. Definitely not somebody that I would be paying so much money for with little professionalism. I make sure everything is organized and written all out. All They're doing is putting it in the computer. H&R Block is a collection of nice tax accountants who have zero competence to write and maintain software. I e-filed my taxes in mid-February with downloaded H&R Block software after it repeatedly indicated there were no errors or problems with the return. From my end, the submission froze in IRS servers and has stayed that way for over three weeks. At the H&R end, the IRS informed them that their software created an error in my filing (a fake report of rental income, when none existed) and told them within five minutes of my submission that it had been rejected. Since that moment, my return has been listed as pending in their software and the software will not allow resubmission.
The worst part of this company is that they only pretend to offer customer support. At least half the time, the staff that answers the phone almost immediately hangs up on a customer (in fairness, the staff seem to have to create a new case number for each call and that step seems to trigger disconnection). The basic staff seems nice, but innocent of any technical expertise or basic support practices (like looking up the case record before having a caller repeat every detail with every call, all while denying this problem could exist when the record clearly indicates that it does).
The frontline staff must consult two different systems to respond to customers (one accessed with email, the other accessed by social security number), and some staff members seem unaware the second system exists. And most ridiculously, the technically competent staff can be accessed by the basic staff only by sending short text messages. In my last call, the staff member sent some 9 short messages over the course of an hour, with the technical staff reading only minor details of my case and giving nonsensical responses that frustrated the person trying to help me even more than they did me.
A firm with this structure and these systems is designed to fail. The front line staff answering the phone is unable to do anything other than spew lies fed them by the technical staff. Examples:
• a March 2nd update for federal forms would fix the problem – no it did not.• my case was escalated to the mysterious technical staff and they would respond directly to me in two days – never received any response at all
• actually, it would take the technical staff five days to respond, not two – again, no response ever received
• the IRS would automatically clear my tax return after three weeks and reject my return so I could fix the H&R Block created error – nothing of the sort occurred.
The one detail where the support staff was consistent and clear is that no refund would be provided for my purchase of the software. H&R Block takes zero responsibility for its product and is nothing but a monstrous waste of time and money. The only worse outcome here would have been for me to wait until early April to file my taxes with their software. As it is, I can purchase TurboTax and start over from scratch.

I paid over $200 for the preparation of my 2022 taxes because the online software required me to add a “tax professional” in order to report a total of three losses on Section 1256 Contracts it did not allow me to enter on my own. Long story short, I prepared 98% of my return myself, paid, uploaded every tax document immediately for the tax pro’s review, and waited. And waited some more. After a week had elapsed and there was no progress, I sent a message to my assigned tax pro and she never responded. Another day went by, I sent another message urging her to please respond because she was holding up my filing and refund, and still no response. I placed a total of six calls to H&R Block, having to re-explain my situation each and every time, and after being promised multiple times to be reassigned a new tax pro I still hadn’t been.
I finally requested a refund and sat on hold while a very nasty representative said she needed to ensure that a refund was warranted. The moment I confirmed I’d been refunded and hung up that call, I immediately filed with Turbo Tax which let me enter all of my information myself and only charged me $130. I will never go back to H&R Block after using them for years. Because I was so dissatisfied with my experience, I decided to look up my “tax pro” on LinkedIn and she’s not even an accountant and has no accounting-related work experience or education. They charge over $200 for that? Shameful.

I have used H&R Block for the last 5-6 years and never had an issue. However this year after completing my taxes I filed using e-file. In less than a minute it came back rejected. The rejection letter indicated that the issue was with form 8962 (a calculation error). I inspected the form and found no issues with it. I then called H&R Block's help desk and the gentleman that took my call was just as confused as I was. He could give no explanation as to why it was rejected but advised me to e-file again. So I e-filed a second time and it was rejected within minutes.
I finally used TurboTax, and inspected each form to make sure they were correct. Form 8962 was exactly the same as H&R Block's. I e-filed the return from TurboTax and within 3 hours it was accepted by the IRS. I can only surmise that the file sent by the H&R Block software was somehow skewed. The only reason I am giving H&R Block 3 stars is because they gave me a refund for their product with no hassles.
Error 1 of 1Rejection Code: **
Form 8962 Calculation
Problem: If Form 8962, Line 1 Total Family Size has a non-zero value, then Line 5 must be equal to Line 3 divided by Line 4.
Solution: Review Form 8962 for any errors. If you find errors, correct them and try e-filing again. If you don't find any errors, you can use the HR

I thought it was tax season maybe she was busy, but that was ok, filed with no problem. After a few months received a letter from FTB saying that I owe taxes. As far as I remembered I paid them through the portal. The portal has no info on transactions, etc. It just has a banner saying something like "Congratulations, your taxes have been filed!". First time I see a portal where you pay for stuff but cannot see your transactions.
Messaged tax pro and no reply after a few weeks. Called customer support and was told an appointment was set. Turned out it was not set. Called again and set another online appointment. On the day and time of the online appointment I log in for the video chat with the professional who wasn't there. I waited, nobody showed. Called the office myself on the phone, the professional was there and sounded like she had no idea about the appointment. Not able to answer my questions and I was told I just have to pay. Question is - why did I pay all that money for tax pro's "guarantee"? I always filed taxes myself and never had this issue. So much for their claim of 100% accuracy for taxes, especially with the pro.
To add on top of all that you can really feel that all the online services are an afterthought, every time you speak to somebody they sound so shocked when you say you filed online and not at one of their offices. Terrible experience, never going through the antiquated H&R Block again, back to TurboTax.

Then when it looked done, I had no access to my complete tax filings for my records. I had copied pages when working with the CPA but those were prior to final. Your federal refund will be maximized by applying deductions which are not eligible for nonresident aliens, and you might not be able to even notice these things, unless you compare tax documents prepared by other companies, line by line. If you have tax record issues, you would have some issues, when you apply for green card.
I used its online tax refund program, and I talked to one of tax professionals who reviewed my documents that I just wanted to follow tax laws of the U.S. and requested her to fix my tax documents prepared by H&R by removing deductions which are not eligible for a nonresident so that I can get appropriate tax refund. After that, I don’t know why, but my application was just cancelled without any notice from the professional or the company, but my payment was not cancelled. So I spend 4 more hours to cancel the payment. When I called the H&R customer service, I was just transferred a lot, and I should have repeated my personal information so they can identify me and explained my situation again and again. If you do not have a lot of time to waste working with this company, you might want to pick other company. Now I can have peaceful days because I don’t work with it anymore. :)

I'm purchased and downloaded H&R Block Premium Software to do my 2021 taxes. I have already encountered 2 issues with the software and it's taken me multiple calls to be able to finally reach someone who has a clue on the issues I'm seeking assistance with. It's taking 30 mnutes or more to finally reach support when attempting to use both chat and phone call support. H&R Block software may be good to use for simple returns but not when it comes to rental properties or a lot of stock trading. I sold my rental property in 2021 and it has been a nightmare trying to file the sale of this property using H&R Block software. Bottom line is that the software is not very intuitive and I have encountered multiple issues with the software.

The IRS form for SSA worksheet was not approved by the IRS. This is to be fixed in an update, but H&R Block does not know when. So as of 2/6/2022 I cannot efile because of this problem. This prevents me from me getting my refund ASAP.

The charge to prepare my super easy return $115, is ridiculous. I planned on filing it myself but desperately needed the $ from the refund so I wouldn't be evicted from my home. Really **, you shouldn't charge people to be humiliated, seems a rather cruel way to run a business. This past year has been difficult for many people & devastating for many others, losing loved ones, jobs, homes, all sense of safety & security wiped out. H&R Block should care about the communities it's servicing & not be so goddamn greedy. Your shareholders should survive without GREED & GROWTH.

I have used the HR Block self-service online tax site for over a decade (paid version) and have always file Married - Jointly. I am experienced with taxes and did not have a tax question. There were tech issues with the site when doing my 2020 and 2021 taxes. The only available help was an online chat, which is no good when trying to resolve site issues (in case the browser has to be closed, cleared, reopened, etc.). HR Block needs to have tech support ability to screen share in another browser. Their tech support in India tries to help on the chat, but it is woefully time-consuming and frustrating to try and fix an HR Block website problem with these folks.
The chat folks decided the problem (it was saying I was filing Single instead of Married - Jointly) needed to be escalated. I was able to repeat the problem three times. Was sent to another team while I waited online for an hour. I actually saw my place in line for them INCREASE from 6 to 7 to 8 while waiting. That is just, plain BROKEN CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

I purchased Block deluxe + state tax software to do my taxes. It is a download to my computer. One of the forms that I need, 8915 F, is not available/supported by the software. I called Block's help center and was told that the form is not available in the software that I purchased but I should call an office and they can help me. I called a local Columbus office. The Representative that they had the form available in their software. I would need to have them do my taxes. It will cost a minimum of $190. It could be more depending on the complexity of my taxes. This is not a best business practice.
There should be a more customer-friendly option since my purchased Block software cannot do what the in office product does. I was not offered a discount or any type of consideration for having purchased a product from H&R Block that cannot handle the forms needed. If the professional software can accommodate this form, the software sold to the public should also be able to accommodate this form/information.

I spent a whole day preparing my tax on H&R Block website. Needed expert review which was "not available at the moment". They downgraded me automatically to Online Assist which didn't work. So I decided to remove it. The phone robot said it would delete all my filings. I called customer representative to remove the non working online assist from my bill without deleting my input but the lady deleted everything then apologized saying that her screen didn't give her the option to keep my inputs. I believe this is way to coerce people into paying for options they don't want.

First off, the system will not allow me to give a less than one star review. H&R Block is horrible when it comes to issues. I have been stuck in a nightmare situation for three weeks trying to get a mistake they made resolved. I have documentation and proof that it was their mistake. I've called their helpline, sent messages to the Tax Pro, and scheduled in office visits. The Tax Pro never responded to any of the messages, one office visit they didn't even show up for and never followed up, and every time I try to call the helplines, it says that all their agents are busy and drops the call.

I had to cancel one account because nobody knew who owned it, nobody could access it and my tax information had been waiting for 5 weeks and nobody would return calls or messages. Now, I opened a new account, uploaded my tax information and no response to messages for a week. They are absolutely horrible and forget about calling their toll-free number, they can't do anything but send messages to people who never respond.

First.. I have used H&RBlock for over 5yrs. Every time I call it is a 30+min wait. When I call no one can ever help. They give you another number to a group that can't help and they send you back to the first group. Documents? Never expect them to give you a receipt of your payment to the IRS. They say you have to call their payment processor. Really? I filled out my personal banking info on the H&RBlock web app and they say they don't have a confirmation of that? PATHETIC. Don't use them. They continue to get worse year by year.

Extremely poor website and phone support ... can’t find much on the website and have waited over an hour at least 10 times in the past 6 months on the phone with no one ever answering. Phone wait has loud annoying music then so very low volume women groveling about something - alternating. Says call will be answered in (then drops silent). I can only assume H&R Block is falling into the pit of bankruptcy ... with such poor and never updated services. Always the high call volume excuse --- this just means you are no good at managing your call system which translates to a negative impact on the perceived quality of your products. After 2.5 hour wait on June 7th (tax filing was 5/17) go someone from India who could not answer my question and gave me cookie cutter 6th grade answers. Software is ok 3/5 if you really know what you are doing.

On 2/16/2021, my account was charged $157.98 from H&R Block. This was an amount that I was quoted that I would be billed if I filed my 2020 taxes successfully through their company. The problem is that I did not end up filing taxes with their company and used another company to process my 2020 taxes. Despite this, I did not receive my money back and was wrongfully charged the $157.98 for services I did not end up using. It took a couple of months before I saw this charge, but when I did, I immediately contacted H&R Block on 5-9-2021. I was relieved after speaking with “Margareth I.” who apologized and assured me that I would be refunded within 3-10 business days. She provided me with case# 05479482 as a reference.
Once time had passed and I still had not received the refund, I was promised, I filed a complaint with the BBB on 5-17-2021 hoping this may speed up the process as it was getting close to the 10 day period I was quoted. I waited a couple of days and on 5-19-2021, I contacted H&R Block, yet again. This time was quite possibly the worst experience I have ever had, in my life, dealing with customer service. I spent almost FOUR HOURS being dropped, without warning, from one person, to the next, attempting to resolve this issue.
One agent, Julissa S., told me that my refund shows as processed, the case has been closed and to contact my bank. When I asked for any information that I could share with my bank, she repeated herself saying the refund had been issued. I again, asked for more information and was cold transferred back into the queue, AGAIN, but after she sent a quick sorry for the inconvenience message, rather than providing me with the information I kept requesting to give to my bank.
Eventually, I got someone named Brian who informed me that everything I had been told thus far was all false. He informed me that there was never even a case opened for my refund in the first place and it was not processed/sent to my bank because it was never initiated. He was the only helpful person I have found to date. Unfortunately, he was not able to file the refund request for me due to being in the sales department. The prior rep just dropped me to him, but I needed the product support team in order to get the request filed. He did provide me with some additional contact information (phone numbers) try to get assistance through, but I just couldn't do it any more. Mentally I just could not handle it. I am not only a single Mom, who runs a self employed business, I have bipolar disorder and anxiety, etc. and these situations are very difficult for me to handle at times.
I spent 4 hours that day getting now here, it took my entire evening and the worst part is it was for no reason because I wasn't even anywhere near where I thought I was in progress... Instead, I had not even began the process at all!! It is so discouraging considering all of the time I have invested in this and waiting for my refund that has not even been started, despite me expecting it to come in any day now. These are all things I should not have to be dealing with and going through in the first place because they should not ever have charged me for services they did not provide!
To date, almost 2 weeks now, they have yet to even acknowledge my BBB complaint, nor have I had any luck with them contacting me about my owed money. I did send an e-mail to them days ago and mailed out a letter today, to their corporate headquarters. Even though, I am not confident that this will change anything or that I will have my issue resolved by these various attempted methods. That is why I wanted to file a complaint with you as well because I would hope they would at least take this complaint serious, since the BBB they have not. I have been scammed, lied to and invalidly charged for services H&R Block did not fulfill and that I am owed and was promised to be refunded for, yet never received this and had a case # that was not even a case to begin with.
All of my communication I made sure to do through the live chat and saved all of the correspondence and will be happy to share, so you can see all of the lies I have been told and time/effort on my end to get this fixed, getting nowhere. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM, THEY STEAL MONEY AND DO NOT EVEN ACKOWLEDEGE YOU WHEN YOU REALZE IT!

WOW. They take on more customers than they can handle and then just...without telling you...don't bother to do your taxes and leave you in the lurch. We wasted 2 hours with Gail and left all of our paperwork with her. She assured us she would call us shortly once our taxes were done to review them with us and get them filed. 2 weeks later and they were still not done. I left 3 messages and sent an email, with no reply. Nobody in their office picked up the phone either. Called corporate who assured me someone would call me at 6:30 that evening. No call.
Finally, I just drove to the location in the middle of a workday to see what was going on. Gail came out and said "I'm so sorry, I kept getting more and more clients and have no time to do all of the tax returns." She admitted that she had read my email and heard my voicemails and had not bothered to call back. They have so many clients they have taken on that they can't even return phone calls to their current clients, much less actually do their tax returns. Now I only have 4 days to file taxes and have to do it on my own. Take this as a warning before choosing H&R Block...

Last tax year we had a death in the family and had to use the deluxe version for our taxes. This year when we selected the free software, they waited until we were done inputting our taxes, several hours invested, and then charged us again for deluxe. Apparently, once you use the deluxe, you are automatically charged each year until you asked them to delete your account completely from their files. How many people do you think they'll RIP OFF with this this year! By the time you get to the end you are so tired of dealing with taxes, I bet most people just pay. I'm sure they're counting on that.

I am currently on hold after a woman, named Cynthia, gave me extremely poor service. I have been on hold to speak to her manager for quite a while, and she put me on the Spanish speaking hold line, so I have no idea what they are even saying. She was patronizing me before putting me on hold, on the phone she would not let me finish my sentences. If I tried to say something she would talk over me saying the same information over and over (and that all these other customers are experiencing the same thing - even though I was never ever able to tell her what the website issue I had was). I did try to ask her to not interrupt me for a second so I could get my question out - but she took that as me needing to talk to her manager - now I have been on hold for over an hour (with spanish only information being repeated in my ear).
I was calling because I had filed my taxes in February, had some issues with the website, wanted to double check that my return was okay, or if I could get a refund for the $80 I paid to file the taxes through HR Block - as I have yet to receive a tax return, or an email, or any form of communication as to what happened to my return. I was told that they have 21 Business days to process - it's been about 45 (I filed 2/25/21, today is 4/12/21). I have been a loyal HR Block customer for the last 7 years, but I will be using a different tax service next year. This has been a really terrible experience. If you must hire people who are rude, please be sure that you are willing to lose customers.
I would have given HR Block a chance to make this right - even just by treating me respectfully, and hearing me out! It's an unfortunate situation, and I sincerely hope that you do not go out of business if everyone that has used your service this year is experiencing similar issues. No one I know uses HR Block, and no one else has had a single issue. Thank you, Krystal.

This is the WORST case of bait and switch I have ever seen. And it's not like you don't know at the beginning which one you want to use...Premium was if you had a schedule C or rented out property...I knew I had neither so I chose the lower one...although they will question you about choosing the incorrect one. I made a virtual appointment with a tax pro. I uploaded all of my tax documents. Now H&R Block is unresponsive about how much they are planning to charge me, I'm getting conflicting information about whether anyone is actually working on my taxes. I’ve spent hours this week waiting on hold, scouring the website and messaging my tax pro. No one answers. I understand it’s tax season and people are busy — but this complete lack of communication and transparency is unacceptable.
The H&R Block website directs people to Twitter with questions. I did get someone to respond there, but that person said social media employees cannot actually help with most questions. Then he or she also said that no one is assigned to my case and “I'm not sure why this error is occurring.” So now I'm even MORE confused about the status of our account. H&R Block has caused me to lose a week of valuable tax prep time, plus wasted hours of my personal time spent on hold, on the website, on Twitter and messaging my tax pro. I still have no idea if or how much H&R Block will try to charge me, or if anyone is actually working on my account or not.

When filing 2019 taxes in a local H&R Block office, I didn't have my routing and account number handy, so I agreed to take an Emerald Card. The tax professional, Mary **, told me that it was just like a debit card, and that I'd be able to transfer all of the money from the card into my bank account at my convenience. This is factually incorrect. Not only was the Emerald Card declined at multiple places where I tried to use it, the largest amount that can be transferred at any single time is $500. Eventually I got all the money off this card, then tore it up, happy that I would never use this card again.
Next year, I did my taxes with H&R Block again, but this time did them online (much cheaper) and had my routing and account numbers handy so that all of my money went directly to my bank account...where I can use it as freely as I would like. However, H&R Block sent me a new Emerald Card - despite not wanting or requesting one. When the latest round of stimulus payments were issued, these payments went to the Emerald Card. This transaction was never authorized. When I called H&R Block to find out why they deposited MY money onto THEIR card, I was hung up on three times, and then got into a screaming match with someone on the phone when I finally got to speak to a human.
The tax professional, Mary **, has failed to respond to 4 different messages from me indicating my dissatisfaction with the Emerald Card. This is not how you treat valued customers. I am on hold again with H&R Block - despite trying to get ahold of someone for more than an hour. This business model does not respect the customers, and when someone's money is moved without their authorization or consent, there are legal consequences.
I would strongly recommend that no one ever use the Emerald Card - and at this point - I would recommend never using H&R Block. No company that cares about its customers would make it such a labyrinthine endeavor to simply recover their own money. If nothing else, THEY NEED TO MAKE THE CARD MORE USER FRIENDLY and less embezzly through their controls that decide when and how someone can spend his/her own money.

This company does a fine job and I've used it the past three years and have never been audited or anything like that. However, only the very basic basic basic filing is free and you don't know that your filing's price until the very end and you don't feel like you have a choice to deny paying whatever arbitrary fee this company imposes. I think that's deceptive.
