Rude immediately on the phone for zero reason!! Kat you need to have some common decency. We called customer service and was told that we would be called back by someone in an office near us so then we were and she immediately started off the conversation, not being very kind and then interrupted us and was rude and had zero customer service will not use H&R Block next year. It’s not our fault that customer service gave us and you the wrong information. We were very specific with what we needed just confirmation that our taxes were filed and that we had set up our payment plan correctly. If you couldn’t help us with that, you didn’t need to say it in such a rude tone.

Used H&R Block many years ago in my early tax days when I was in my twenties. Made a mistake of going back to them. They're a corporate franchise, lot of mistakes on their part satellite offices then when you need help getting in touch with somebody who has knowledge or transferring you over and over to the wrong place voicemails corporate nonsense.

It's not worth their less than CPA prices but if you go to a CPA professional experienced lot more than they are and not corporate old school mom and pop accountant. They're going to do a much better job digging deep, getting you more of your money that you earned and paid in taxes in returns. That's in my experience after my next having used them. Slow it up my pa state return, they dropped the ball, error on their part. I just found out about it several months later and my management company screwed me over. Lost my paperwork on the pa 1000 rent rebate, around $1,000 out of my pocket for too many months now. Stop the nonsense. Everybody thinks they're the best. H&R Block is not 🚫

I would not recommend them, it cost me over $400 to get my taxes prepared for 2024. They did my taxes for 2022 and I paid for the coverage in case of audits. First don’t ever buy it, it only applies to a short period of time. When the IRS came knocking, I had to point out to the guy what was wrong. We were supposed to have a phone meeting and he never called me. Have not heard from them since. I am handling my issues myself because I understand what is going and the tax professional is not any help.

Late April 2025 I dropped off a very simple tax file to the Agassiz BC Canada H&R block office. April 28 records show that I received 1 missed call in the morning during my shower. No voice message was left on my machine so it went unnoticed. No follow up calls from H&R Block. I waited and waited for H&R to call and finally dropped into their office in August to find their location closed. My call to Hope H&R informed me that my documents were waiting in Hope. If I wanted them to file my taxes, I would have to drive to Hope, pay $137.00 and they would send my taxes off.

I used up 74 km of gas and my entire morning for driving time. When I arrived I asked to speak with the Manager. "Could you at least discount my filing fee as this is clearly poor business practice and poor customer service to have left my tax filing so late and not have made any further attempts to notify me after the 1 call on April 28.

Manager said "No". "Either you pay the full fee or take your documents and leave. I chose to take my documents responding that I would be looking to file a complaint. Manager flippantly responded. "Your complaint to H&R headquarters will only come back to me and I don't intend to do anything about it". As I was leaving, Manager couldn't help but deliver a catty comment, "Have a nice drive home."

So this is who you're dealing with and WHAT you're dealing with when you entrust Hope/Agassiz H&R Block to file taxes on your behalf: Care less incompetence and bad attitude. I suppose I should be grateful that they didn't lose my paperwork in the hundreds of other's documents the Manager claimed were sitting in her drawers. These people simply can't be bothered to make the effort to notify customers. I often wondered why people claim that H&R Block has a poor reputation. I guess, now I know.

I had a terrible experience with H&R Block. They charged me $125 and refused to refund my money, claiming I had an appointment I never scheduled. When I called their site, I was contacted by people from another country, which made me feel unsafe and unprofessional. As an American citizen, it is very concerning that my Social Security number could end up in the hands of people outside the U.S. This situation was not only stressful but also very alarming. I strongly advise others to avoid using their services. I am waiting for the refund and have contacted the bank and IRS.

The real problem with H&R Block is not losing $125, but the fact that you are asked to provide highly sensitive information such as your Social Security number, home address, and personal details — only to have your data handled by people from another country. This is extremely unsafe and unacceptable. I never scheduled an appointment, yet they charged me and refused to refund my money. The bigger issue is the risk of personal information falling into the wrong hands. As an American citizen, I find this very alarming and strongly warn others not to trust their platform.

I dropped my taxes off to have them done towards the end of April. I knew it would be a few days late but it was my fault for not dealing with earlier. About a week later a lady called Penny called me and said she needed more information to save me paying more taxes. I took what she asked for to her, but my husband did not have but it he didn’t really need it. When I introduced myself she said “I was going to call you today!” We chatted and I told her not to worry about my husbands for now, just get it done because I knew I had to pay and I was worried about interest. She only works Tuesday and Thursday so getting over to the office was inconvenient, but I expected that when she had it completed she would call.

After not hearing from her for 6 weeks, I stopped by and again she said “I was going to call you today”… Funny thing is she had no idea who I was as I had to give her my name etc. She goes back to her office and comes back and says “my bad, looks like it’s not done yet!” …But she was going to call me…about what not getting it done. I asked her if she could have it done by the following Tuesday and she said, no that she was working on a 7 year return that was taking up her time. I asked for your contact information and she said she didn’t have a card. At that time I should have asked for my paperwork back, but I had a bad day and really didn’t want a fight. It has now been 2 weeks and I have not heard from her. Is H&R Block going to pay my interest for sloppy lousy service? I am NOT paying for this service, I need paperwork back and I will file it myself, if I could get over there when the office is open… I work too.

I've been using H&R Block for years. But unless something is done to make this right...I won't ever be using them again. I was having troubles this year big time getting the money together to get them done. But I knew if I didn't get them done I couldn't get things like get carbon tax credit etc. So get it together & I'm waiting. Finally called Rev.Canada. And they say they never received them. So had to call H&R Block & have them send another copy. Because I also have to do them in a papercopy...so it takes longer. This is hurting me so bad. Because now I've been cut off of my incomes until they get asset. I am in huge trouble & so I called them...they didn't want to deal with it & the woman that Finally talked to me didn't sound like she had a clue or very professional. So doubt I'll go back to that 1 if any. Depending on the outcome of this.

We paid H&R $ 585.00 to do our personal taxes for 2024. This was at their office # 32031 in Wilmington, NC. Then, on May 5, 2025 we received a letter from the IRS indicating that our return was incorrect, and that we OVERPAID our taxes by $ 192.00. A few days later, the IRS sent us a check for $ 192.00. We called a gentleman at H&R and explained the situation, and requested an adjustment based on their much publicized "Accuracy Guarantee." The H&R gentleman agreed that H&R has made the error, and that they would reimburse us $ 100.00 for the error. We went to their office a few days later, to collect the $ 100.00, and met with a lady named Erica. Erica said she was the manager of this H&R office, and she reviewed our case. She said H & R would not make any adjustment based on their guaranteed accuracy policy.

Summary: If you want to have H&R do your taxes, that's fine. However, keep in mind that when they do make a mistake that causes you to pay TOO MUCH to the IRS, do not expect any adjustment or refund based on their accuracy guarantee. You are on your own.

I have used Tax Cut which subsequently became H&R Block tax preparation software for decades. The problem exists in the 2024 tax program. I had successfully completed my federal and state returns and was ready to send them using the online filing capacity. However, minutes after sending my returns a message came back saying the returns had been rejected (even though the software had indicated that all was correctly done). The message told me that the Tax ID for the payer on a 1099 was incorrect. I looked up that payer and the tax ID I had supplied was exactly what was written on the 1099. I tried to resend but received the same message. The software suggested that I physically mailed my return (even though I had paid the exorbitant online filing fee).

Several days after mailing my return I received a message from H&R Block saying that my online return has finally been successfully sent, however the physically mailed federal copy had already been received received, which made the online filing null and void. Due to the federal tax filing be received in physical and subsequently online form, my federal return was put on hold. It's now mid June and I have still not yet received my refund. Do not use the online filing option with H&R Block!

And then in the end they didn't even use my card I had on file which is the only one I have and it's current, to pay the damn irs, so I've just not gotten a letter saying I still owe coz it didn't do it. Please be careful about H&R block. Their software does not calculate the taxes you owe correctly. I had taxes due and I paid the full amount whatever the software had asked me to do. I got another bill from IRS saying that I owe more. When I asked the H&R block to see why their software did a wrong calculation, their answer was that happens we do not have the same calculation as IRS. That means who knows I am getting the same amount in refund if my software is not calculating it right. Also by the way I used a tax advisor from them and they are not willing to review it nor refund me the amount I paid to use their tax advisory service. At this point I do not trust their software and would move to Turbo tax. Please do not trust H&R software to do right calculations for you. They do not even stand by their own product and it is just a gimmick that they say that if the software does a wrong calculation they will refund. Do not use their software.

Instead of importing the percentage that was acceptable, it imported the total premium resulting in $500+ bill with the state. Contacted H&R Block and showed it to them. Customer service, if that's what they call it, basically blamed me for not getting back to them sooner. I take partial accountability for a portion of the late fee, but H&R Block was paid to do work and they failed to complete their end of the work. I have been filing with H&R Block for a few years now and it's always been smooth and easy and I previously would have recommended it to everyone as a free easy service for tax filing. HOWEVER... This year I filed my taxes back in March and it is currently May 12 and I have still not received my refund. When I look on my account it says my taxes were filed successfully.

When I called the IRS they said they have no record of ever receiving my taxes this year. I try to contact any live agent at H&R Block for help and because I used the free service I can only talk to the AI robot that is never helpful. It looks like if I upgrade to the Plus membership it only counts towards next year's filing and so I won't be able to speak to a real H&R block employee until next year. So, I'm stuck right now unable to get help, unable to have any questions answered, and stuck with having to pay a penalty for being late on filing my taxes (even though I did everything the right way and filed before the deadline). I even called a physical H&R block location to see if they could help and they couldn't do anything for me because I filed online. This whole service is useless and a scam and will only cause more problems in your life.

I've used H & R Block online to prepare my taxes for the last 15 years, starting in 2011. I've been generally pleased by the service, overall. But now I have a problem. I owed a bit of money in Federal Taxes on our 2024 return. I ran through all of the checks and Block said our return was perfect, with nothing that needed to be done before filing. I paid the outstanding Federal balance in early April 2025.

Then the IRS sent us a letter on April 28, 2025, stating we were being charged a penalty for failing to pay estimated taxes. I transferred money from our bank account to pay that penalty. But then I remembered that Block claims that their returns are 100 percent accurate. So, I logged onto our account on the H & R Block website, looking for a 1040-ES online form that I could use to pay more Federal tax during the year so we would not be penalized again for the tax year 2025. I couldn't find that form and when I tried to leave a comment or get further help, my web page went into a search that didn't end. It seemed as if the Block website has been shut off after April 15. I have downloaded a paper copy of 1040-ES, but I haven't used a paper return in the last 25 years. I am very familiar with computers, and I'd prefer to use them.

I would leave a negative review if possible for the H&R Block office at 10421 South Padre Island Drive (Corpus Christi, TX) and Sylvette **. While snow birding on Padre Island, I phoned the office in late February/early March and asked if I could get help with two things: 1) a tax-loss carryover from the previous year and 2) a K-1 business form. I explained that I use H&R Block software and I had completed my taxes, except for those two items. The receptionist said yes, Sylvette could help me.

When I met with Sylvette she stated that the software I use and the software she uses are different and she had to do all my taxes or nothing, and it would cost $300 or more. Reluctantly I agreed. When she completed the taxes, the bill was $640. She did complete the taxes in a timely manner. When I had a chance to review the forms back home in Illinois, I had questions and sent Sylvette a detailed e-mail with 5 questions/comments/requests. That was March 27, 2025. It is now May 8, 2025 (6 weeks later) and she has not addressed any of the requests yet. Trying to communicate with her or the local office is a one-way street. She stated she has been sick.

I'll start with my wife and I have worked with H&R Block for 30 years. In 2023, my wife did an Emerald cash advance, which we've done in the past and they take it from our tax return so we took our information in filed our taxes and in June 2024, applied from auto loan only to find that H&R charged off the loan. I called the branch, the representative said it was probably some wires crossed and that it was okay so I called the eight hundred number. They did an escalation 6/20/24. They closed it 6/25/24.

After several calls to them, I give up so in February 2025, I return back to the office to file and they said, "By the way, we made a mistake the previous year. You still owe for the advance loan." So they took the money for the advance loan plus all the fees for H&R Block's mistake and the Great part is they ruined our credit and now refuse to fix any of it and none of it was our fault. So much for tax professionals. If you are thinking of doing an Emerald advance, you might want to think it over.

Had my itemized returns (federal, state and city) prepared in Philadelphia for over 20 years with competence in ~2 hours each time. I could see on a screen in front of me exactly what was being entered line by line, thereby being able to ask questions and correct an error if necessary. Moved to NJ 3 years ago and people in 2 Cherry Hill offices were unacceptable in knowledge and attention in entering information. There was no longer the screen available for me to see the returns in progress. After reviewing federal and state returns at home, I found mistakes and omissions. Preparers rarely returned multiple calls or e-mails to answer my questions. Had to return to the offices 3-4 times (for over 10 hours) for corrections, twice for amended returns to be filed because of the preparers' mistakes, and returns omitted in my packet. Paid $595. Hugely disappointed in the company for omitting the client screens, and the tax preparers for their carelessness and refusal to accept responsibility for mistakes. Never received one "I'm sorry".

Why do I pay hundreds of dollars for a professional to do our taxes if they make mistakes and then do not stand by them? Long story short, paid H&R Block to do our taxes again this year. When paying she wanted us to pay another hundred bucks for Peace of Mind to guarantee their audit. Incredulously I asked "wait, does that mean you do not stand behind your work?" Should have been red flag and sign. After I had her explain it in more detail and found out that even if a mistake they would only cover $6k that seemed like a scam. So you do not stand by your work and even if a mistake you limit your liability on your work to a small amount? Well, you guessed it, almost immediately we got a notice back from the State that we suddenly owed another $2000. Well since we did not fall the POM scam no dice. Immediately went over to find out where the mistake was. Not impressed I had to find and correct the next lady on documents.

Fairly simple stuff like if this doc was attached to the filing or not. So even less confidence. Then she said she would file a reply explaining their reasoning. It was now mid March and I specifically asked what would happen if not resolved by 15 April to which she said "oh no we will have a reply well before then". Again I was sadly correct. No answer until now May and State says still owe. Why would I pay hundreds of dollars if you will not stand by your work? I can make mistakes filing my own taxes without paying you hundreds.
