My first experience with First Internet was very good - I had completed an online intake form via Bankrate.com and Nikko ** contacted me within minutes of the application. He was very thorough and knowledgeable as we worked through the initial loan application details, and patiently kept me apprised of the status. He reassured me (and my realtor) that we'd be able to close within a tight timeline, which was essential.
Once the loan went to processing, it was a few days before I heard from Katie **. I had actually sent her an email wondering if there was any information I could start compiling to keep the loan application moving forward since I hadn't heard anything. Nikko went on vacation at this time, so while I often couldn't get an answer from Katie, Chris ** was super-helpful - in fact, he predominately answered all my questions and kept everything on track.
It was really stressful not getting responses from Katie, which is why I rated the entire experience at 4, rather than 5 stars, but I would recommend First Internet to a friend, as long as they weren't as in as tight a timeline as we were! I would like to especially recognize Nikko and Chris as going above and beyond in their help during this process.

The service was good. My loan officer Brian was very helpful. I was always able to ask questions and get them answered. I also like the competitive low rates. I would strongly consider using First Internet Bank again in the future.

Great mortgage experience. This is my 3rd time buying a house and by far the easiest experience I've had. Jacklyn was very helpful and made the whole process very clear and easy. She was quick to respond and always upbeat. I would definitely recommend her and FirstIB to my friends.

As far as loan officers and companies go, this one is a premier bank! They are honest, quick and upfront. Never felt pressure, what they said is what you get. Obviously, there are regulatory hoops to jump but they made sure I know what was next and what to expect. I would suggest them to anyone. Also the 3rd party notary and a lot of good things to say. Best experience getting a home loan ever. Easy downloads and quick results. People were very helpful with any questions I had. Rate was also better and their pricing was up front and understandable. The title people came to my house making signing very easy. Nikko ** my loan officer showed expertise in his field along with his coworkers. I would recommend them to everyone.

Our experience was long and tiring... I feel there was no correct teamwork going on to make the process easier and that First Internet Bank really need to correct that. We were asked for multiples of the same information given that some say they didn't receive and acknowledged that proper information was not given from the next team player. Although Nikko ** did an amazing job keeping in touch with us etc. Nikko ** I feel did everything in his power to keep us informed with everything and what was needed.

I am a Realtor in Arizona and I worked with Jacklyn ** on a VA transaction where we had a contingency in which our Buyer had to sell their current home in order to close our transaction. Needless to say, there were many bumps along the way with the other transaction causing delays on our end. Jacklyn handled all of the problems that we encountered with professionalism and worked outside of the box to find solutions and followed up with not only myself, but everyone involved to ensure that we were able to stay on track and get our mutual client's into their new home.

I was hesitant on working with the First Internet Bank because I never heard of it and it was an internet bank, which seemed super weird to me. However, once I reached out, I was not disappointed. This was my first time going through the process of purchasing a home and Jacklyn made it as painless as she possibly could! She was friendly, responsive, honest and seemed to know what she was talking about. And if she was unsure of something, she would get clarification. I had a ton of questions to throw her way and she was so quick to respond and made sure I understood what was going on. I never felt alone in the process and I appreciate her for that. Thank you!

Ms. ** did a fantastic job throughout the entire loan process. This was my second home purchase, so I was not brand new to the game, but Jacklyn was knowledgeable and extremely helpful. We had some issues with the person between the loan officer and underwriting, and Jacklyn smoothed out all misunderstandings and completed our loan without issues. I first started talking with with Chris ** over a year ago, but the timing wasn't right to refinance. I was shopping for a refinance and received several quotes from different firms. First Internet Bank offered me what I thought was the best deal. I was asked to apply so my rate could be locked in, which I did. Unfortunately, my rate was not locked and instead I was sent a significantly different quote with a much lower lender credit. The loan officer stated this was due to a bad jobs report which caused the 10 year note to move higher. Though I understand that rates can move, this loan officer not only failed to lock me the day before but the credit changed by $4,000 which didn’t correspond to the move in the bond market. Comparatively, the other lenders credits only changed by a few hundred dollars. When I questioned the loan officer on this she simply has not responded. She clearly offered a rate and fee structure that could not be provided, enticed me to apply so she could pull my credit and is now offering a much worse deal. Classic bait and switch.
We sincerely apologize for your frustration with your refinance quote. Unfortunately, third party websites cannot accommodate all of the specifics involved in an actual application, and a rate quote can differ once the additional information is applied. It was never our intention to be misleading; that’s not who we are.

Overall I was very happy with the service through the approval and implementation of the mortgage and I thank the bank for helping us acquire the property. Mike was a great anchor to communicate with throughout. I think the primary issue I and other providers (insurance, etc.) had was dealing with a number of individuals throughout the application, processing, & closing.

My first experience with an internet mortgage loan. I wanted a refinance and debt consolidation. I shopped around, asked questions and read reviews. I finally decided on FIB based on their replies to my initial queries and previous customer feedback. All I can say is, I do not regret my decision at all. It took exactly four weeks from the moment I started the application until the process was done. Everyone I worked with, especially my loan officer Shelly ** and the processor, Dean **, answered any questions I had promptly and correctly. If a supporting document needed clarification, they advised me immediately so I could provide an update. I have no complaints and nothing but appreciation and thanks for all they did. I am one very satisfied and happy customer and highly recommend FIB.

I have refinanced and consolidated my 1st and 2nd mortgages. First Internet Bank made the whole process very smooth and easy to handle even when while working a full time job. Mike made my experience excellent. I have done a lot of loans and other related bank transactions over the years and I’m a 30 year customer of PNC Bank where I’ve done several loans. I was very pleased with First Internet. I'm a self employed farmer and knew it would be hard to refinance my house with no pay stubs etc. I talked to quite a few different banks along with you when I started. The difference here was Jaclyn. She was so personable, friendly, and seemed to enjoy trying to help me that I went with your bank. Our experience with Greg ** was very good until your other processors and closing agents got involved. We received conflicting information several times from them and frequently did not receive answers to our questions. Terms were changed after the closing was scheduled and we only learned of it during the closing. Had it not been for Greg's help each time we contacted him about the lack of or conflicting info from them we were considering not closing and shopping elsewhere.

I am a residential realtor and traditionally have recommended local banks/lenders, but for the refi on my own home I received a recommendation from another agent/friend to use First Internet Bank. I purchased my house a few years ago and was watching interest rates and saw they were down to where I could shave about a point off my rate. I called First Internet Bank and was introduced to one of the best financial people I have worked with on any financial business. His name is Greg **. Now let me clarify, there was a team of support and approval people involved as well, but I can tell you from the day I first started talking with Greg until I closed on a refinance loan was just 20 days. Yes in twenty days I was able to go from a phone conversation about potentially refinancing, to closing on a refinance of a jumbo loan.
The group at First Internet was by far the most accommodating and customer driven group I have ever worked with. I have owned many houses(6) and this is by far the best mortgage experience I have ever had. Great Job Greg and team. Prior to getting in touch with Jessica **, I heard horror stories of what people had went through to get a mortgage. I never once felt that way with Jessica and her team. I had a good experience refinancing my home with First Internet Bank. My loan manager answered my calls promptly and answered all my questions. I liked how everything was online and I could upload documents. Sometimes it was a little confusing, though, having to sign on to different secure systems to sign or upload documents. I wish there was just one system or process. But my loan manager helped out when I was confused, and there are various systems and levels of security for a reason. Thanks!

I had a very positive experience with Debbie **. She was very helpful and worked to get me the best combination of low interest rate and low closing costs. I also really loved it that the closer came to my house! The only negative experience was that I felt the loan processor, Glenda **, did not seem very knowledgeable. For example, even though I had sent her copies of my annuity award, she wanted additional documentation to show that they would continue to pay this each month, even though the notification clearly stated that the annuity would continue for life and was irreversible.
She re-requested documents that had already been submitted, and insisted that she needed all the boiler plate pages of my Social Security award letter, when all she really needed was the first page showing my name, benefit amount and effective date. I finally had to ask Debbie to intervene on my behalf, and she was able to straighten things out. Otherwise, I was very happy with my experience with First Internet Bank.

I was first contacted by Tyler from First Internet Bank after submitting a Lending Tree inquiry online. I was flooded with a wave of many sales calls including one from my prior mortgage servicer, Citibank. Citibank promised to beat any offer as they wanted to keep me as a customer. In the end, they were not able to make good on this promise, as they could not even match much less beat the numbers Tyler provided from First Internet Bank. The rate and terms were the best I could find anywhere. Aside from the numbers, I was very happy with the time Tyler took to get me in this loan, taking my calls and answering concerns immediately and thoroughly. He simplified the entire process and I cannot say enough as to his professionalism and customer service. The process from start to finish went off without a hitch and I am totally satisfied with the way things went. Great closing and experience!

We did refinance our existing mortgage. We worked with Kelsey and she worked with me till the end and making sure I am on board. It made us felt refinancing was easier than we thought. All we did was lock rate and submitted documents for approval. We closed in less than 3 weeks. They came to our place to get documents signed. Low closing cost than other lenders. I was satisfied with my mortgage experience with the following comments: initial call back was fast and ongoing communication was clear and timely, the rate was excellent, I needed to completely reapply when it turned out that my wife needed to be added to the application - this seemed unnecessary as FIB could have ported my information over to a new application and Uploading my financial information was not easy- and the broker was in two minds about uploading vs. e-mailing- this could be improved.

My loan officer was Deborah **. I thanked her boss already for having her on the First Internet Bank team, but I am very happy that she is on the team. To make a long story short, we had a tough time between dealing with a horrible mortgage company and several family issues. The last mortgage company we were working with was awful. They wanted us to practically pay off all of my debts, even though I told them I had plenty of cash on hand to pay off a large portion, but nobody in their right mind pays off everything. They still didn't care and I heard every excuse in the book from a terribly rude group of individuals that worked there. That company was recommended by our less than stellar realtor. We never progressed with the company. I got sick of it one day in February, got on Lending Tree, and Deborah called.
I literally had my fingers crossed as I spoke to Deborah the second time she called to let me know we could do this after paying off some debts. That's all I wanted to hear. She didn't lie to me. She didn't offer excuses. She didn't hem and haw. She just took action and moved forward. That's all I ask as a client. Deborah did an amazing job. She knows just as well as I do that sometimes you don't have an answer at the moment for a client and she communicated that. Clear communication is key! I never got that from the last company and it created so much hate and discontent. I felt betrayed and I would never recommend them. I am so grateful to Deborah that she pulled this off. She made our lives incredibly more easy. Years from now, I'm still going to remember how awesome she was to us and how greatly she reflected on First Internet Bank.

I can't thank Nikko enough for all his efforts in coordinating this loan and helping me close on time despite appraisal delays. Nikko was always there when I needed him! This was my first mortgage loan and ensured all my doubts and concerns were addressed. He's professional, courteous and accountable, ownership is key in customer service and he took care of everything!
Never really heard back from anyone else at FIB, especially Kathleen (loan processor) despite multiple emails to her, I pretty much had to go through Nikko for every single thing. I'm unsure if that's how their roles are defined but that expectation should be set from the onset. I'm open to working with FIB again but will have to be selective in recommending FIB to others considering the amount of follow-up required to get things done with 30-day deadlines in TX. I don't mind the same as being a PM it's second nature to me.

The mortgage application went through in a very smooth and pleasurable process. Scott was very helpful with the questions and provided timely response. The only slightly disappointing experience is after the closing. I have still not received any paperwork by mail and wanted to set up automated payments as well as additional payments towards the principal. As this mortgage is a FIB product (10 year APR) and not being sold on the aftermarket, I am surprised of the length to set up the payment process.

When I began shopping for a mortgage, as a long-time First IB banking customer, I was thrilled to see that they offered some of the lowest rates around. My loan coordinator, Jessica, was fantastic. From the first phone call, she consistently followed up, answered every question I had, and was professional and friendly. I actually looked forward to our conversations, knowing she would do whatever she could to meet my needs. Everything was fine except for the promise to not be charged origination fee through the entire processes and then a few days before closing I was told they were charging me. I was stuck and had no choice but to continue with loan due to mandated timeline for divorce settlement. They promised to match the lending tree offer for their quote that I saved. I will be making complaint with NYS banking department.

We refinanced our mortgage through First IB. While the process was time-consuming and the information/documentation requirements were quite burdensome, it was acceptable as it is a necessary evil and our loan processor was very good at working with me. The closing was fine, although a last minute change resulted in us having to borrow more money that we needed to (it was refunded after closing but that's not the point). However, it is the after closing process that is quite troublesome. The closing package did NOT include payment coupons (the closing officer told us that we would receive them in the mail at a later date). Well, we never received payment coupons or information on making our first payment.
At the beginning of February, knowing that a Feb payment should be made, I emailed the bank inquiring about the missing payment coupons. I did receive a prompt reply with an attached payment coupon but was extremely dismayed to discover that the first payment had been due the day prior. I don't know if this is a "one-off" situation or standard practice, i.e. by failing to provide proper instructions and materials to make payments the bank then gets to charge late fees. Up until the part of the process, I would have recommended First IB to others considering refinancing but now I'm not so sure that I will do so.

There was simply a miscommunication on our part, and for that, we apologize. After further review of your situation, we initiated a reimbursement of the late fee, and we have also implemented a procedural change that will prompt us to send payment coupons more than once to ensure receipt of the documents.

Refi was quick and painless. I had spent months with numerous document dumps with previous lenders, most of which was unnecessary based on our finances and credit rating. Here there was none of that and we got the refi done quickly at a great rate.

It had been several years since I had been involved in a mortgage transaction. This one was completed ahead of the time estimate given. The account that allowed paperwork to be transmitted securely worked well and showed that you "get" how these types of transactions should work. Having the notary visit our home on our schedule to complete the transaction was fantastic. Jim and the entire team responded to questions and concerns in a timely manner. The rate was competitive with other lenders. I had one lender who initially did not match your pricing but felt that he could given all the details. I declined. Mike ** did an excellent job shepherding my refi. Took a bit longer than projected but was over the holidays. On a poor note, the title and background search was very poor. They didn't use my SSN or address and reported inaccurate info that was a pain to respond to.

Great experience from beginning to end. Rick ** was precise and thorough and I was able to finish the loan and close in a very short amount of time which included 2 weeks in Italy. Closing attorney came to our home and the real estate appraiser was timely. The entire process was painless really from beginning to end and I honestly feel like I was not being taken advantage of. Good job all the way around.
I do have one concern which I will raise as it really involves something that First Internet Bank may not have much control over. That issue is the sale of my mortgage to an entity who will service that loan. I am concerned that my new servicer, Loan Care LLC, has a very poor customer service reputation. At this point it is simply a concern but there is much bad press out there. That said, they were very slow in contacting me and providing temporary coupons to the point that I had to reach out to Rick ** for his recommendation on what I should do with the first mortgage payment. As it turns out, I sent that payment to First Internet Bank who said they would forward that payment (which includes an escrow amount) to my new loan servicer Loan Care. I will wait to see how that fleshes out. Contact me with any questions.

The lead time for an appraiser in my area was very long to the point where it could go beyond the already long rate lock period. Need to improve the timelessness of the information along with the overall proactive status updates. Asked for CC information for the appraisal, hit my card with the charge then a few days later credited my account and hit the cc again with a different appraisal company. Nothing wrong with that however proactive communication on what was going on is what I would have expected.

This is my 2nd mortgage refinance with First Internet Bank, both with Mike **, and my 3rd with Mike if you include the time he was with another firm. It's been great to have a relationship with a mortgage broker with whom I can email, just to check rates, and if it looks good, to be able to easily work with him. Because we have a good working relationship (even though we've never met and have only spoken on the phone a couple of times), I know that I can trust Mike to take care of my mortgage needs and he knows I can provide him with what he needs to process my loan. With the most recent experience, he and I only emailed each other - and he got it done quickly and painlessly for us! I approached the idea of using an internet bank cautiously and skeptically for my new mortgage because it was new and unknown to me and reviews are mixed. The closing costs and interest rate offered by First Internet Bank were better than any local lenders. Before trusting in them, I phoned James and discussed my concerns. He assured me that he and his team would be good communicators and would do everything to make the process go smoothly. After closing last week, I can say that he did as he said. I had an excellent experience working with Shelly at First Internet Bank for the loan for our new home. From day one she was extremely responsive and made the process as seamless as possible. Everything with the loan was ready weeks prior to our closing. She answered all of my questions and took the time to explain everything in detail.
The day prior to closing we came into an issue with the sellers. I talked with Shelly late in the afternoon that day and by the following morning she had an escrow agreement written that helped solve the problem so we could close on time. Scott ** was pleasant, bright and on top of it from the get-go. He did what he said he would do when he said it. That is worth a lot. And he saved the day when he handled a potential mess with taxes. I think we closed less than a month. Of course I sent the information also when I said I would and was timely as well. First Internet Bank was a good choice to refinance with.

I was lied to about if my loan would be sold or would be serviced by specifically Wells Fargo. Told explicitly no. Less than two months after closing and I just got a letter that my loan is now serviced by none other than WF. If that had been disclosed as a possibility up front I would not have done business with them. The loan also closed much slower than I was told it would and I'm still trying to get my property taxes settled after closing because they refused to listen that they can't send a property tax payment before the bill has been sent for the year (and it was for the wrong amount).
Our goal is to provide a consistently positive experience. We make every effort to honor servicing requests when we can. In this case, there was an internal miscommunication between the team that processed your loan and the team that sold your loan to a third party for servicing. This was our error, and we apologize for the oversight. On the question of the tax payment, tax payment timing and rules vary from one municipality to the next. We are proud to lend in all 50 states, even if it does mean we often have to spend some extra time running down details for an individual loan. Because we were able to close your loan within 30 days of the rate lock (relatively speedy for our industry!), before the tax bills had been issued, we collected an estimated amount for taxes and are still working with your parish to confirm the payment of the tax. Maybe we didn’t communicate frequently enough with you on this matter so you feared we were done? We haven’t put this one to bed yet, so please don’t give up on us! We thank you for sharing your concerns with us. While it’s no less frustrating for you, we do learn from these rare slip-ups — and we use them to make improvements to our internal processes and strengthen our customer service initiatives.

I bought my first home last year and was a bit nervous using an online bank to process my mortgage, so I ultimately went with a local bank. However, with falling interest rates, it made since for me to consider refinancing, so I began shopping for rates again and felt more comfortable pursuing an online option to get the best rate/cost structure. I'm so glad I did! I primarily worked with Jim ** and he understood my situation, and was very thorough in showing me how different scenarios would play out in the long run. After that, the application process was painless and the logistics of the refinance went smoothly as well. I occasionally had some issues with uploading documents to the online portal, but the team was always prepared to give me other alternatives to submit the required documents. Great experience!

Went smoothly. A little confusing but that expected with all the paperwork. Mr. ** was pleasant to work with. Overall a good experience. Sometimes it was difficult to upload the required documents but we eventually figured it out. Had some questions at closing which notary could not answer.

From the first phone call to inquire about a mortgage, Nikko ** was professional, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Within a few minutes I was preapproved for a mortgage and was able to locate a property to purchase. As soon as I made an offer, the paperwork began. I spoke with Aaron ** almost daily for over a month waiting for the perfect day to pull the trigger and lock in my rate. Once that was done, it was smooth sailing and a super fast refinance to closing. Took about 30 days from lock to closing with no problems at all. Received the best rate possible anywhere for a 30-year refinance. Would recommend without question.

I had the pleasure of going through the mortgage process with my loan officer at First Internet Bank. He was very proactive and not pushy. It was important to me that my mortgage company was good because I read a lot of awful stories when shopping for a mortgage. The mortgage rates for FIB were competitive and the reviews were good, so I decided on FIB. Everyone during the mortgage process was helpful and quick to respond. They have the process extremely streamlined, so there was no delay on part of the bank. I would recommend FIB if you're shopping for a mortgage. Despite being an internet bank, I think they did a better job than some of the larger, traditional banks.

Great experience with the Sales team but the operational process could be improved. Website to upload documents should be improved and the definite list of documents required should be communicated upfront to avoid having back and forth. A website with a workflow, status... is what we expect from an internet bank, there is work to be done in this area to provide the perfect experience and support. That being said the whole experience is much better than with other banks I dealt in the past.

My mortgage journey began with a refinance and two separate lenders over a period of about 5 months, both of which provided me with incomplete (and sometimes inaccurate) information. When I was at my wit's end, I used LendingTree and was paired with the First Internet Bank of Indiana. Since I began working with FIB, I've always been kept up to date on what was going on during the mortgage process, I was provided with coaching from Deborah and Christie, two employees FIB is lucky to have, who guided me through the process, listened to my concerns, met impossible deadlines based on my unique circumstances (there was a court order and a limited time to close on the home), and acted more like friends than anything else.
These two ladies kept me positively sane throughout the process, even when external circumstances arose that threatened our deadlines. I truly cannot say enough about FIB and how happy I was to have found this company. Being from Vermont, I had never heard of the bank before the mortgage process, but I happily tell people about them now. Please keep up the amazing work!

Mike ** was great. Only reason there weren't 5 stars given is that the lender credit was not what I was originally told that I would get (because he didn't lock the loan until later in the day)... That cost me $500 and it would have been better not to spend that money. Other than that, he was fantastic and everything was smooth as smooth can be.

I can only say this was most assuredly the finest mortgage refinance experience I have ever had and I have now done 3 total. Even when faced with issues due to CEMA mortgage refinances that left what appeared to be 4 mortgage values open on the county records, and learning it could cost me upwards of $1500 to get letters from BAC explaining these are not active mortgages, Dean worked with the title company and supplied the documents I had, and saved me the trouble and money. I was a bit cautious working with FIB, because I had never heard of them before, and due to online scams and fraud, anything associated with the Internet can be a little frightening! I was quite pleased with my interactions and ease of getting my refinance processed. Everything could be uploaded on-line and was pretty straight-forward. I found their rates and overall fees very competitive when I was looking. The best part of FIB was their customer service and willingness to call me back when I had questions.
