My only criticism of First Internet is that their internal people aren't as quick to respond or as patient as Ray. Even though my refinancing has been completed, I am still getting notifications from their internal people asking me for additional information or to do additional tasks.

I've been using First IB for at least 15 years for personal banking and have always been happy with their customer service and banking. Successful Refinancing. Our mortgage officer was always available when we had questions or needed an explanation of the process, and kept everything moving smoothly. Closing Out IRA CDs. I purchased 2 separate IRA Certificates of Deposit in February of 2017 from First Internet Bank of Indiana. Both IRA CDs have a maturity date of February 6, 2021, and pay 2.20% annual interest. The accounts were made opened online with checks sent by mail. On February 26, 2020, I received a letter (sent by email) stating that they would no longer offer IRA Certificates of Deposit and that the funds from current CDs could be transferred or withdrawn without early withdrawal penalty.
The letter then stated that on October 1, 2020, all CDs would be closed and a check with accumulated interest would be sent to me. They would not honor the term of the IRA CD and pay no additional interest or penalty for early termination. On March 10,2020. I spoke with Charles Gearhart, Vice President of Relationship Banking, and he confirmed that the bank would not honor the term of the CDs and he stated that "the agreement" provided that the bank could change or amend the agreement at any time.

Considering how busy most mortgage outfits are these days Chris was very responsive and detailed replying to all my questions and need of explanation to certain process steps. He took his personal time to respond to my inquires without hesitation. Chris should be considered a valued resource to FIB as my experience with other mortgage companies was not as responsive which made my decision to stay with FIB solid. FIB Mortgage Process could you some fine tuning but I would recommend to others based on my experience with Chris.

When it comes to refinancing, our fully online, branchless bank means less overhead for us – and better rates for you! We're glad to hear that your experience on both loans was smooth and fast.
Compared to other bank accounts, these guys will make you sign your life away signing document after document. I was attracted to this bank due to their high savings interest rates for businesses, but once the bank account is open you will find that you cannot ACH into the account without signing "more" documents. Then that process takes numerous emails back and forth. I finally gave up because I started to worry about if this was a sign for the future and the continued difficulty I would have with them.
If it is this difficult to create an account and actually fund it, I can't even imagine in the future once I have money in there what sort of problems I might encounter actually trying to get my money out. So this process started making me nervous, as my gut was telling me to RUN. Finally, I told them to cancel the account (mind you I have never even funded it yet), and now they are requiring me to sign more documents just to shut it down. They say they are an "Internet" bank, but I have had far better online experiences with true internet banks link Marcus, Capital One, US Bank, and Chase.

Stay as safe far away from this ripoff bank as you can. The interest rate won’t make up for all the fees they will kill you with. They charge you $5 for every bank transfer out of your account. Most accounts won’t even make that back in interest over a year. Instead of denying a transfer if you don’t have sufficient funds for that transfer, they charge you $30, then advise you that there are sufficient funds. This bank is a total ripoff. Stay away. You have been warned!!!

I used First Internet Bank to refinance my first condo. I was looking to buy a bigger place so I gave them another try. Right off the bat, they gave me very competitive rates, the lowest of the three lenders I obtained pre-qualifications from. I had the opportunity to work with Brian and he was excellent in providing service from beginning to the end. There were so many things I did not understand during the process and he took the time to explain everything to me through the pre-qualification and pre-approval processes.
When I finally found my dream home, the seller required that I cross-qualified with their lender which I did. The lender then tried to win my business by offering several discounts. Ultimately, I still ended up working with First Internet Bank because they put their best foot forward and even without negotiating with them, my costs were thousands of dollars lower than the seller's lender.
Once we started the process to close, it was very smooth. Initially, we had regular calls. Brian was very responsive and always returned my calls promptly anytime we didn't connect on the first try. Even though he was on eastern time and I was on pacific time, I didn't realize the difference. We initially set our closing date for 30 days. Because of the speed at which Brian and his team worked, we moved it up to 28 days. And without fail, Brian and his team delivered on getting me the loan on time. My home buying experience was somewhat stressful but I can say it was not because of my loan. I was always comfortable with where we were and very happy with how I was treated by Brian and First Internet Bank. I'll gladly use them again anytime I have to purchase or refinance my home.

The loan process went very smoothly and I was kept informed of the status of my load throughout. I liked the system they have to gather loan documents, get it through underwriting, and get it to closing. I would recommend them again for any refinance and think they have some of the best rates out there.

After a lot of paperwork and multiple documents sent back and forth, I finally opened up a Business Savings Account a year ago with First Internet Bank and funded the account consistently every month with normal deposit amounts ($10k per month). Last week I received an email from Michele ** - Deposit Operations Specialist from FIB, who stated they were closing my account because of "Know Your Customer" standards.
"All Financial institutions are required by federal and state regulations to follow Know Your Customer standards, monitor and understand ongoing customer activity. Therefore periodic reviews are conducted on all accounts. In a recent review of the account activity, we have made the decision to exit the banking relationship."
I asked her to give me a call to discuss or email me with an actual specific reason but she emailed back and started again the decision had been made and there was nothing to discuss and just copy/pasted the previous blanket corporate statement. I looked up Know You Standards and it's to prevent money laundering and criminal activities!!
I immediately emailed Michele back to try and discuss and to explain to her I have been with the same employer (high profile company) for over 10 years and she could check my employment record but she just ignored my communications. Absolutely terrible customer service and a big warning for anybody else considering going to all the trouble of opening a business savings account with this shady bank. Don't waste your time. Jon

Working with First Internet Bank was a great experience for me. I had looked long and hard at different companies and options for moving my Construction loan of my new home over to a permanent mortgage and came across FIB online. When I called and talked to Max ** I knew I had found the right company. Max quickly understood my needs and carefully took the time to explain all the details of how this process works and answered all of my questions without rushing to get me off of the phone. Max was great throughout the entire process and actually everyone involved was always very responsive to my emails or phone calls. Trust me when I says not all companies I spoke with had representatives that knew what I needed or took time to answer my questions unless I was willing to start the loan process. Scott ** and his team were great. Scott began by helping me choose the best mortgage for my needs. After that we fill ed out all the paperwork electronically which made it very easy. Within 6 weeks a notary was sent to our home and we sat with her for an hour to sign the final papers. That was it! It really could not have been any easier. It was a great experience and I would not hesitate to work with them again.

I used F.I.B to refinance my home. The interest rates were competitive and I particularly enjoyed working with Destiny **, loan officer. She was timely in responding to me and was happy to answer all my questions (which I had quite a few since this was my first refi). I enjoyed working with Max and team. Everyone at FIB helped to make the transaction smooth. The electronic document signing and upload tool was easy. The only issue I have is with my (post) closing, and it's the responsibility of the closing agent who is not FIB, we closed two weeks ago and I have yet to receive my packet with all signed documents/disclosures.

Mike was great to support my home purchase. The loan procedure was very fast, but there was a some annoying last-minute requests from the underwriter. But Mike was very helpful and responsible for my mortgage procedure.

Some of the numbers were incorrect on the loan and they kept changing drastically. It was really hard to follow. My loan officer was also not easy to get in contact with at first. I think the most frustrating part was when he told me everything was done and then I needed to complete 15 more steps. There was a lot of back and forth and I didn't appreciate it.

Joey ** worked very hard to provide the most competitive price and earn my business. He was prompt in returning all of my e-mails and phone calls. Overall, I am very satisfied with his service and my mortgage. It was clearly important to him that the complicated process of applying for a mortgage be as easy as possible for me. Additionally, he even made himself available to me on weekends when time was constricted by my closing contract.
However, there is one thing I wish he had done differently. That is that there were some questions that I asked where he just wasn't hearing me. He answered the question that he thought I was asking, but not my actual question. Although he was never rude, these times were frustrating for both of us. In the end, I had to let my question go unanswered knowing that it was not an inhibiting issue and only a matter of wanting more knowledge. Finally, and most importantly, I will say that Joey and his team, despite the few aforementioned communication failures, were able to provide me with the best mortgage and in time for closing. I would recommend him with a single caveat.

I read a bunch of reviews of FIB and they seem to generally be about home loans. So, good job on home loans. But atrocious on business banking. I signed up my small business with FIB because they paid interest on checking and money market business accounts. The process was very manual including lots of back and forth by email. In short, a very un-Internet experience. Ironic given the bank name. That should have been a warning. Once I had over $100k in the bank, I went to pay some of my contractors and discovered that I had a $25k per month ACH limit. I can't live with that. So I can't live with FIB. Additionally, the whole site feels very early internet. I opened an account with Azlo. It was very smooth and fast. Their site looks great and performs well.

This was the easiest transaction I have gone thru for a home loan. The hardest part was figuring how to get copies of the required documents into the computer as I am not overly computer savvy. It was a happy challenge.

Overall it is a good process, and I really appreciate Mike being proactive in reaching out when rates dropped. He also locked me at the very bottom it seems. Being able to upload docs works nicely. It could be better if he had access to my actual existing loan. I was surprised when he called me that he needed me to give him my loan specifics when my loan was already with First Internet.

Very helpful with all aspects of the loan. Destiny made sure that all part were completed in time. The process was very smooth, I was a little nervous to use an online bank at first but would recommend it to friends.
