I first spoke to him on 10/27/2021 and closed on my refi loan on 12/13/2021 (47 days later!!). Gary & FIB were fast and efficient unlike my NewRez my mortgage holder at the time.     Closing Out IRA CDs. I purchased 2 separate IRA Certificates of Deposit in February of 2017 from First Internet Bank of Indiana. Both IRA CDs have a maturity date of February 6, 2021, and pay 2.20% annual interest. The accounts were made opened online with checks sent by mail. On February 26, 2020, I received a letter (sent by email) stating that they would no longer offer IRA Certificates of Deposit and that the funds from current CDs could be transferred or withdrawn without early withdrawal penalty.

    The letter then stated that on October 1, 2020, all CDs would be closed and a check with accumulated interest would be sent to me. They would not honor the term of the IRA CD and pay no additional interest or penalty for early termination. On March 10,2020. I spoke with Charles Gearhart, Vice President of Relationship Banking, and he confirmed that the bank would not honor the term of the CDs and he stated that "the agreement" provided that the bank could change or amend the agreement at any time.

    Compared to other bank accounts, these guys will make you sign your life away signing document after document. I was attracted to this bank due to their high savings interest rates for businesses, but once the bank account is open you will find that you cannot ACH into the account without signing "more" documents. Then that process takes numerous emails back and forth. I finally gave up because I started to worry about if this was a sign for the future and the continued difficulty I would have with them.

    If it is this difficult to create an account and actually fund it, I can't even imagine in the future once I have money in there what sort of problems I might encounter actually trying to get my money out. So this process started making me nervous, as my gut was telling me to RUN. Finally, I told them to cancel the account (mind you I have never even funded it yet), and now they are requiring me to sign more documents just to shut it down. They say they are an "Internet" bank, but I have had far better online experiences with true internet banks link Marcus, Capital One, US Bank, and Chase.

    Stay as safe far away from this ripoff bank as you can. The interest rate won’t make up for all the fees they will kill you with. They charge you $5 for every bank transfer out of your account. Most accounts won’t even make that back in interest over a year. Instead of denying a transfer if you don’t have sufficient funds for that transfer, they charge you $30, then advise you that there are sufficient funds. This bank is a total ripoff. Stay away. You have been warned!!!

    I used First Internet Bank to refinance my first condo. I was looking to buy a bigger place so I gave them another try. Right off the bat, they gave me very competitive rates, the lowest of the three lenders I obtained pre-qualifications from. I had the opportunity to work with Brian and he was excellent in providing service from beginning to the end. There were so many things I did not understand during the process and he took the time to explain everything to me through the pre-qualification and pre-approval processes.

    When I finally found my dream home, the seller required that I cross-qualified with their lender which I did. The lender then tried to win my business by offering several discounts. Ultimately, I still ended up working with First Internet Bank because they put their best foot forward and even without negotiating with them, my costs were thousands of dollars lower than the seller's lender.

    Once we started the process to close, it was very smooth. Initially, we had regular calls. Brian was very responsive and always returned my calls promptly anytime we didn't connect on the first try. Even though he was on eastern time and I was on pacific time, I didn't realize the difference. We initially set our closing date for 30 days. Because of the speed at which Brian and his team worked, we moved it up to 28 days. And without fail, Brian and his team delivered on getting me the loan on time. My home buying experience was somewhat stressful but I can say it was not because of my loan. I was always comfortable with where we were and very happy with how I was treated by Brian and First Internet Bank. I'll gladly use them again anytime I have to purchase or refinance my home.

    After a lot of paperwork and multiple documents sent back and forth, I finally opened up a Business Savings Account a year ago with First Internet Bank and funded the account consistently every month with normal deposit amounts ($10k per month). Last week I received an email from Michele ** - Deposit Operations Specialist from FIB, who stated they were closing my account because of "Know Your Customer" standards.

    "All Financial institutions are required by federal and state regulations to follow Know Your Customer standards, monitor and understand ongoing customer activity. Therefore periodic reviews are conducted on all accounts. In a recent review of the account activity, we have made the decision to exit the banking relationship."

    I asked her to give me a call to discuss or email me with an actual specific reason but she emailed back and started again the decision had been made and there was nothing to discuss and just copy/pasted the previous blanket corporate statement. I looked up Know You Standards and it's to prevent money laundering and criminal activities!!

    I immediately emailed Michele back to try and discuss and to explain to her I have been with the same employer (high profile company) for over 10 years and she could check my employment record but she just ignored my communications. Absolutely terrible customer service and a big warning for anybody else considering going to all the trouble of opening a business savings account with this shady bank. Don't waste your time. Jon

    Joey ** worked very hard to provide the most competitive price and earn my business. He was prompt in returning all of my e-mails and phone calls. Overall, I am very satisfied with his service and my mortgage. It was clearly important to him that the complicated process of applying for a mortgage be as easy as possible for me. Additionally, he even made himself available to me on weekends when time was constricted by my closing contract.

    However, there is one thing I wish he had done differently. That is that there were some questions that I asked where he just wasn't hearing me. He answered the question that he thought I was asking, but not my actual question. Although he was never rude, these times were frustrating for both of us. In the end, I had to let my question go unanswered knowing that it was not an inhibiting issue and only a matter of wanting more knowledge. Finally, and most importantly, I will say that Joey and his team, despite the few aforementioned communication failures, were able to provide me with the best mortgage and in time for closing. I would recommend him with a single caveat.

    I read a bunch of reviews of FIB and they seem to generally be about home loans. So, good job on home loans. But atrocious on business banking. I signed up my small business with FIB because they paid interest on checking and money market business accounts. The process was very manual including lots of back and forth by email. In short, a very un-Internet experience. Ironic given the bank name. That should have been a warning. Once I had over $100k in the bank, I went to pay some of my contractors and discovered that I had a $25k per month ACH limit. I can't live with that. So I can't live with FIB. Additionally, the whole site feels very early internet. I opened an account with Azlo. It was very smooth and fast. Their site looks great and performs well.

    FIB management made it clear that they did not want me as a customer. In January, I received "pre-approval." Nothing changed about my financial position between January and May. In fact, my annual income was ahead of projections through May. We scheduled a closing 30-days out. As we approached closing, I was told that management still needed to approve my loan, which was a surprise given the pre-approval and above purchase appraisal. Apparently, Mike ** - and some others inside the bank with whom I have worked on the commercial side - had to lobby management heavily to provide final approval.

    Moreover, unexpected delays in that approval forced us to delay closing twice. It was an incredibly stressful experience for my entire family as we waited for "final" approval with moving trucks in the driveway. The good news for management is that they will not have to carry this loan for long. As soon as the dust settles on my credit profile, I will do everything I can to identify a replacement lender. Once I do, I will likely take my personal mortgage (and millions of dollars in future commercial loans from my clients) to a bank who values me as a customer.

    I worked with Chris ** to complete a cash out refinancing with FIB and was extremely pleased with the overall experience. Chris helped to streamline and simplify the typically cumbersome process and this is the second time FIB has refinanced my mortgage loan so I am a returning customer. Chris made things simple and kept the process rolling along smoothly. Three things stand out with the FIB experience. First, FIB finds competitive loan rates for its customers. Second, it operates transparently and does not attempt to exploit applicants with onerous points and hidden fees. Third, once a loan is approved by the underwriters, FIB is impressively fast from start to finish so the loan process does not drag on and languish in limbo.

    The closing gets planned and the process gets completed in a very timely manner without issues. Taken as a whole, these are positive attributes many lenders can't deliver, which is why I returned to give FIB my business a second time on a mortgage refinancing. Shopping hundreds of banks to look for competitive deals is labor-intensive and painful and there are sometimes hidden fees and points that turn into unpleasant surprises after dozens of documents have been provided and the process is too far along to easily stop. I have already referred a colleague from work to Chris for a refinancing, which seems to be one of the bank's competitive strengths. I have had a positive customer experience overall and will likely return to FIB for a future mortgage refinancing if it makes good financial sense to do so.

    I've taken out several mortgages and refinances within the last decade and this was by far the easiest. Other than the in-person appraisal, everything was done electronically up until closing. Documents were digitally uploaded or accounts were linked to their online system. When the appraisal came in higher than expected, they made a quick modification to increase the cash-out of the loan without penalty nor restarting the process.     Scott was very good in handling questions and problems. Other departments in verifying information didn't seem quite on the ball. Asking for pay stubs that really didn't exist and using common sense in approach to this loan. This loan represented less than 30% of funds on deposit with First IB, have been a customer for over 15 years and the amount of loan was 10% of my equity in the home securing the loan. They did not review the disclosure document sent for my signature as it contained dates a month prior to when loan was to be closed. I requested corrections before I would sign. Found it to be a bit frustrating. But again Scott handled it well. A closer review of documents requiring customer signature is recommended.

    I opened a savings account with them because they have great rates, but to my disbelieve when I needed to take my money it has been a pain! First they said I wasn't set up to transfer out of my account yet I was set up to transfer into the account every week. They said it would take 7-10 business days to get me set up to take money out of my account. This sounds ridiculous! SO I closed my account and customer service said they would stop my automatic withdrawals from my other bank account and they did not. So they still haven't given me my money back and the withdrawals are still being processed. Have never worked with a bank that makes it so difficult to withdraw money. It is my money I should have easy access to it!

    My home mortgage experience with First Internet Bank was excellent. It's a bit tough to know how the whole process works before you go through it, so being a bit flexible with your expectations from your lender are advisable. For example, at first I was a bit put off by seeming inaccuracies in First IB's initial loan estimate. But, as I came to learn, many of those numbers are merely placeholders that will end up being the same across lenders.

    For every question or worry I had about the loan estimate, my loan officer Chris ** was quick to reply via email with an honest and unvarnished answer. Given the time crunch and short learning curve one has during a closing period, this was very much appreciated. I was able to better compare mortgages across lenders as a result of Chris's willingness to give insights into the estimate document and overall lending process (he was very responsive via email, phone not quite as much). The closing process also went as smoothly as one could expect from an out of state lender. In the end, I feel that I found the best combination of loan rate, terms and service with First IB.

    So I opened 2 CDs with FirstIB and process went smoothly. Interface to open account super easy and quick. But a few weeks later I wanted to open 2 more CDs because of their awesome rates but I made a mistake on my application and now they want me to scan/fax an authorization form with voided checks for an ACH transaction. It is not like I am applying for credit or withdrawing money from them. I already am a customer so it shouldn't be this complicated. I do not have a scanner, fax, or checks. That is why I precisely bank exclusively online. Dean was very professional in explaining to me their process but it is still doesn't make sense when you are already a customer of theirs, it is redundant. I was thinking on bringing in more assets over to this bank from Ally and to possibly refinance my mortgage but this is a BIG red flag to stay away.
