I've recently been advised that Credit Acceptance does not disclose its fees, nor does the dealership that is selling you their lending services. Allegedly, if the dealership could sell you a vehicle for 10,000 for example, your sales price could go up to $14,500.00, PLUS you'll pay an extremely high interest rate. (I am still trying to find out the exact fees they charge.) The APR on your contract, or at least on the contract I reviewed does not reflect the fees you are paying for. Truth In Lending does not seem to apply to them.
The salesman probably just told you as he did me and my fiance that the dealership does not set the price, that only Credit Acceptance sets the sales price. Those are the exact words from the salesman (Grover) at Green Ford in Gainesville, GA. RED FLAG I.e. He may as well with that statement told me that if he wanted to sell my fiance the car for $3.00, he couldn't because Credit Acceptance required him to sell it for $13,000.00.
Getting into this type of contract and business transaction with FULL DISCLOSURE is one thing, as at least you would know what you are getting into and you'll be able to decide if you are that desperate and willing to be taken advantage of. However, if you are like my friend, NOWHERE is there any disclosure regarding all the fees this lender is charging. BEWARE, and my recommendation is RUN from this company. But if it's too late and you are under contract; if you feel that you been taken advantage of or if you did not receive full disclosure regarding their lending practices, send an email to ** as it is my full intentions of investigating completely to see about filing a law suit, single and with enough consumers, a class action law suit against this company. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BUYING, AND THAT INCLUDES THE FEES YOU ARE CHARGED. File a complaint before it's too late.

I've had my SUV for 3 years. In this time, I have had to have over $5000 worth of work done on it, and it still isn't completely fixed. The SUV isn't even worth it, at this point. I have lights pop up all the time. My loan is technically up Feb 2018, but I'm hoping to pay it off by the end of this summer, so I can trade it in for something more dependable. While their Warranty did help cover a lot of expenses, I have had to pay way more than the $100 they claim is the deductible. There is always something they say isn't covered and I'm out more money. My mechanic has been beyond frustrated with them. He even told us that he overcharged them on things he knew they'd cover, just so my out of pocket cost wouldn't be so much. I don't have issues with them calling me all the time or them trying to repo my car, like others have been saying, so I've been lucky on that.
But, I called the automated line to get a payoff quote and they claim that I have a Vehicle Service Contract on my account and if I cancel, I can get a rebate back. What is this and why is it attached to my loan? The original Warranty I had expired one year ago. I am not happy that with just a few months left in my loan, I am finding out that I am probably paying for something that I have no idea about and do not want. And if I can, in fact, get money back for cancelling, how would one go about getting that? At the time, I had no other choice but to use CAC to get a car loan, but if you do have a choice... Don't do it!

I didn't know I was late and I changed banks. Old bank covered overdrafts but this bank wasn't covering them. I set up auto for 2x month. Evidently, I missed one half payment months ago and it slipped by without me being aware it happened. So it happens again. 5 days later I wake up without a car. They don't offer any way to access your account to even see if you miss a payment. Since I'm in signer for autopay, they said they don't sent notice. I never knew it was coming. No grace period. I had no late payment prior to this. I have trying to raise my credit score, but this didn't help. Such a stupid way to do business. Thing been in an accident and has damage. Radiator has a hole we kept plugging. Now the transmission is starting to go. Our loan us 5k more than car is worth. Should just let them keep it and lose money like they deserve.
Reviewed May 1, 2017
This was the worst experience ever. They would repossess my car every time I was 2 days late so I had to keep paying repo fees then the transmission went out in the car and they refused to help and now my credit is destroyed because of this company.

I spoke with a person on the phone from this company, explained my issues and was told that they would help but I needed to pay 200. by Friday. Well, the Monday was paid and they turn off the car and said it was going to be repo. At first I thought it was a need for retraining but after reading other reviews I believe it their plan for extra money. It's so very sad and scary that know is looking into their business practice

I purchased my first car in Nov 2016. However, I was in the market for an Acura TL preferably '07-'08, but ended up with an '07 Camry and I don't know how that happened. My excitement of getting my first car at a buy-here-pay-here dealer took over me and I gave my down payment of $1,290.00 to the dealer and then he went to the back to speak with the manager, he came back out and said "Yayyy great! We got you in a Camry!" I looked at him like, WTF? "Sir, you knew I was here for the Acura, priced same as the Camry, so how did I end up in the Camry?" His response was, "Oh, the BANK put you in the Camry and you already signed the contract..."
So I proceed to look at the Camry, it was outdated and not worth $8,999. Mileage was higher than the Acura, had multiple scratches, radio did not work at all, both 12v power outlets did not work, the muffler bosal had to be replaced, air filters had to be replaced! The dealer was aware that I was upset and felt played, but he proceeded to tell me how great it is to have my first car and how it will fix my credit, easy payments, blah blah blah... At this point, I'm locked in and I can't convince this man that I don't want the Camry and I really want the Acura and that's what I called about and PAID FOR and gave me some ** warranty! But WAIT, I'VE BEEN PAYING REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET!
As far as doing business with Credit Acceptance, I've had no problems making the payments on time at all. I pay monthly on the day the note is due. My only issues are, I communicated to customer care that my car buying experience was horrible and that the dealer lied on them as if they were the people that "put me in the Camry" and that the car had many repairs that had to be done and it's not the car I wanted... Their answer to me, "You'll have to deal with the dealer, we have no control and don't know what happens at the time of buying the car." 30 days later, the same Credit Acceptance rep calls me and asks "Did the dealer ever resolve the issue and repairs?" I told him I took care of it all out of pocket and I will not be dealing with the dealer in the future, then I ended the call.
At the end of it all, it sucks that I have this HIGH interest rate and I'm paying WAY MORE than what the car is worth according to the Kelley Blue Book. The dealership lied to me and lied on the lender and the lender didn't do anything about it! I just want to be paying for a car that is worth the amount of my monthly payments of $360.00! I'm paying an arm and a leg for an older (but very reliable) car and it is not worth the cost. HELP ME, CREDIT ACCEPTANCE! I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL CUSTOMER. Somewhat satisfied but the experience could be better.
Reviewed April 26, 2017
I have never been treated more rudely!! Worst Customer service I have ever experienced! I never got more than a month behind on my payment. Yet, when I would get behind due to having to pay for car repairs they had no understanding! They were very rude and even went as far as to ask me why I couldn't borrow the money from someone to take my payment. I was not even a full payment behind and they repossessed my car, causing me to have to pay an extra $400 that I did not have just to get it back. They charged me 15,000 for a car that was worth 8,000. I kid you not I have never wanted to put someone out of business so bad!! If you are considering using credit acceptance just look at all these reviews. If you find a good one it's probably damage control and fake. DO NOT USE CREDIT ACCEPTANCE!!!

I am financing a car through this company for the last few months. Be careful when financing a car through them as they will sell you some additional garbage coverage the you don't need for Thousands of Dollars financed at a high rate too. So, the best thing to do once you leave the dealer, look at your contract and send Credit Acceptance instantly certified mail with return receipts letters asking them to cancel any of the additional garbage that was added to the contract that you won't need. Don't call them, you need to send them certified mail.
I mailed my payment on time two months ago but the check was never cashed and when I called they claimed that they have never received the payment so I went online and made a quick payment to avoid having 30 days late on my account and two days later, they cashed that check that they did not receive?? The truth is that this company is more like a Federally Licensed Loan Shark, so it is what it is for now until I can get a bank loan. But forget anything about customer service and they will call you 50 times a day on your payment due date if the payment is not there by then... they call forever. I called them and I have written them requesting a print of my payments history and current balance but forget it. They will never send anything at all. They simply don't care. This is the truth.

I've had my vehicle for over a year now and I have recurring payments coming directly out of my acct. So in January 2017 I received a phone call from them and was told I have a late fee of $50... I asked how was that possible and she said because I had a late payment and it has a fee and can I pay it today and I said "No, I cannot..." And she said "Okay, it'll go to collections," if I don't pay it. Ok so on April 01, 2017 I received another call and was told I owe $388 and some cents, can I pay it today.
I said first of all, "Why do I owe that?" And I was told, "Oh you missed a payment in November 2016 (breathe)..." I said, "How do I owe a payment from November when it comes out my acct..." "Well when you called to switch your original date to another date, the November payment was never paid." So let me get this right... I've made my payment every month with no problems and I didn't make Nov payment but I made Dec, Jan, Feb and March payment and scheduled to make April payment also and nobody bothered to call me until 5 months later...
I am not the person who missed payments or anything like that since I had the vehicle and that make sense to you guys (that I would miss a payment and continue on with the other scheduled payments). Now I have all these fees and has to make payments every 2 weeks for total of 7 payments is what I was offered... and oh wait for this one... skip a payment then add it to the end of the loan is not an option. So ** any and everything else that's going on in my life...
Oh and wait for this one I asked why wouldn't no one contact me Dec 01, 2016 to let me know I missed a payment and I was told why would they call because they thought I would call them. Why the ** would I call you idiots when I didn't know I even missed a payment. Oh but I made 5 more payments after the fact. I'm very irritated and would not recommend this company for anything. Should have known better when you can only use Western Union.

Off and on for the last 15 yrs, I have received letters from their lawyers about owing them money etc. I actually have court today on this mess. I'm just wondering how this is no longer on my credit (thank God), but yet the lawyers can still come after me. This vehicle that started out with me owing about $1800, is now up to almost $9000. The car is now 20 yrs old. Oh, and seems my public records on this case have magically disappeared as well, including the one stating that this case was DESTROYED about 9 yrs ago. How is any of this legal??

My husband and I purchased a 2007 Pontiac G6 from Used Car Factory in Janesville, WI on August 1, 2014 with the loan thru Credit Acceptance Corporation. We put 700 down on the car and we financed for 10,000. When we first got the car we had problems with it for the first year and half. Then we started noticing the burning smell coming through the vents and took the car to shop and they said the car was a quart low on oil. We always got our oil changed. Never had the issue before. Also, the car was always having brake problems. We had fix the control arms in the front the wheel on the passenger side front, the struts were a major problem.
We called CAC and asked them if we could stop making payments for a month because all of the mechanical problems we had with the car and they said, "No." We were paying 400.16 for a piece of crap car that we could no longer afford to keep fixing. We only have two incomes my husband's monthly disability check and my work income and was barely enough to pay the car payment and everything else we have. The other thing that we didn't like about them was we had to call them every month to tell them that we were making our payment on the 3rd of the month because that is when my husband got paid. The rep would always get rude about it and say, "Well you can use our automated system or set up automatic payment every month," and we always tell them no.
Then this past January we decided to trade the car in for a new car. I called CAC and told that we traded the car in and said when were they going to get their payment. I told that their check was on the way from the dealership where we bought our new car from. They kept calling my husband and we told them their check was coming. We called the dealership and they mailed it right away. My message to people with bad or no credit, don't finance a vehicle with Credit Acceptance Corporation. They will ruin your life.

I financed a auto from Credit Acceptance Corp, and it's been a year now and when I went to check my credit scores, there was a "credit issue pending" from Credit Acceptance Corp. I don't see how this can be as I paid that car off in January of 2016. I called the company and all I can do is dispute the issue. I been trying to dispute this issue for 6 months now and the "credit issue pending" message is still there. Even I wrote the company I have not received any replies so all I can do is keep trying. This issue is holding me back from repairing my credit so I can finance another auto.

I got screwed into Credit Acceptance as the car I had broke down and was unfixable, I had no choice but get a car so me and my son could get home. I got put into Credit Acceptance with the financing, not only are their fees crazy, their customer service is awful, they don't help. I have been getting late fees put on my account since I opened the account because they didn't send me the coupon books so I had no idea when the payments were to start, I called about it and I was told that's my fault, it took them a month to send me the book.
I asked to defer 1/2 a month payment and they said, "NOPE we'll just charge you late fees for the next few years until the loan is paid off and we'll harass you 8 times a day for the $200." Most car loan companies defer payments and will also waive late fees if late payment is not your fault, not this company. They live off the fees and any late fees they can throw at you. If your payment is due the 1st and your grace period is the 10th, let me tell you if they receive the money on the 2nd bam late fee. It's disgusting, I'm surprised they have been allowed to rip off people for so long.

When I changed my auto pay dates, I had confirmed it with the representative at customer services and was told it was taken care of. That same month I was charged for the old auto pay date and also for the new auto pay date. When I had inquired about the mistake that Credit Acceptance had made, I still had to pay for both auto pay dates and late fees. The customer service supervisor was so rude and would not even acknowledge that they had made a mistake and wouldn't even take the extra charges off. So I had to make a double payment for that month. Customer service is very poor and the employees and the supervisors need better training with customer service. Also the company itself needs to acknowledge their mistakes and correct them not add on additional charges to people's accounts and demand payment for the company mistakes.

Recently we had a massive hail storm. I had only made about 3 payments on my car when my insurance company came back and deemed my car a total loss. I originally wanted to keep my vehicle and continue my payments in order to help my credit score, when the insurance company offered Credit Acceptance the settlement they declined on my behalf and said they were going to use GAP coverage. But here is where it gets irritating. I cannot get another vehicle without the loan being paid off, and unlike other finance companies who only require a copy of the check to show paid, they refused to do any thing which left me without a vehicle until they decide to post full payment. This company is so far beyond unreasonable and do as they please! I should have known how bad this company was bad when payments are made through Western Union. I will never use this company ever again and hope everyone stays away as well.

I have read some of the reviews. A lot of them are bad. I am a real person and I do not work for CA! I work for Napa Auto parts, just to be clear. I had some credit problems in my past and CA gave me a loan for a vehicle I needed at the time. The interest was high but that's what you get for having bad credit. The payment was right and I was able to pay online with my debit card. I prefer this method because it makes my life easier. I purchased the 2004 GMC Envoy XL in August 2014 and I paid it off March 6th 2017. I paid all payments on time or before and at times paid 3 or 4 months ahead. The car had high miles but all in all was in pretty good shape. Air conditioning was a must haha.
Anyways, the bank has never given me any problems with the contract or customer service. I always get treated well when I call, a lot when I wanted to get it paid off. I didn't go through them when I bought my 07 Suburban only because the dealership didn't work with them. I used in house financing. The deal is, if you pay the payment on time they won't take your car. Read what you are signing and if you can't afford it don't buy it thinking they won't take it if you don't pay. They will! I would! The only thing I can see wrong is on my credit it says account closed and not account closed by consumer. Also is the same way on my credit from Atlantic Acceptance so I don't see an issue really.

They towed my car in the middle of the night ok. Fine. I called credit acceptance the same day told them I would pick up my car less than a week from then, they had already removed all of my belongings from my car and drove the car 150 miles away to an auction. And I'm not only responsible for the fees that they charged me but my car payment as well as pay an Uber 105 dollars to take me to my car. I quote again word for word "It's not our problem, and we can't help you. We don't deal with cancellations." My husband asked "who does if you don't?" They told him "we don't know." So he asks again who can I call because I can't afford to go pick up a truck that is 2 hours away, to get this payment cancelled? These customer service reps are definitely not customer service worthy people. They should be working at the dump with all the crap they dish out to the actual paying customers. In a line of work such as Customer Service "Customer" is the first word that describes what they would put on anything that says Job experience etc. These people should be ashamed by how they talk and treat people over the phone. So I learn my supplemental time had ran out. So workman comp. Was the only people paying at the time at a 20% disability. Which was wrong so I'm dealing with lawyer and court right now. I'm writing this review because for the first time in my life...an adult pretended to suddenly have connection problems (like in the movies) and just hung up in my face. I just kept saying "ma'am are you really doing this I mean really" and she was like "sir... are you still there... sir... sir". I almost believed her until the very end of the conversation when I heard her say to a colleague "I had to get rid of his..." I can only assume that the last word was **. I'm not here to say don't do business with this company. I'm writing this to say if you do use their services, please understand that all the bad reviews here about their atrocious customer service... is apparently TRUE!

I bought a 2002 Mustang in May of 2016. Paid $800 down. Got finance charges at 14.75% through Credit Acceptance. My payment's $255 a month. They worked with me so I could make 2 payments of 128 a month. I read a lot of negativity about them, yet with my experience with them I have bad credit and they treated me good and I am looking forward to financing another car through them as soon as this one dies. I have had a few minor problems with the car but nothing that has cost me over $100. And may I say it is now Jan. 2017 and my car is paid off. Like I said I have had no problems with them and would recommend them to anyone with bad credit.

After reading a lot of reviews, I now know I am not the only one dealing with and having serious issues with these horrible crooks. It should be a crime to do and treat people like this! Especially b/c they prey on low income people with bad credit. I live in Detroit (look up the Don Foss story) he started C.A. on a few small car lots here and has got rich off the poor. I have dealt w/ them for over 2 yrs and have had nothing but bad experience. Have paid more than twice what the car is worth with a 5,000 down payment and still owe a lot... it's a 2006 charger. They have repoed my car now for the 3rd time. This time leaving my husband stuck at Davita Dialysis after his treatment. This time redemption dept. said b/c it was paid on the 2nd of Jan. and not the 1st which by the way was a holiday so the Walmart money center I use was closed that day. They don't care.
They are rude and I don't know how those people sleep at night (Oh and the payment was $ 1.76 short). Was on auto pay, say you have a 10 day grace period but don't tell you if it's paid 1 day past the original due date your payment is considered late. Makes no sense. Just another way to get more $. Didn't realize was a month behind somehow, we pay every month and am not in any way dodging payments.
They will not work with you. Don't care about REAL LEGITIMATE circumstances that cause needing extra time. They are quick to tell you it's going to auction if you don't pay a lot fast and of course now they have added MORE $ w/ repo fees. I already pay an extra $50 a month on those. It's just not right. They have caused a great deal of anxiety on my already stressful situation. I live in MI and am trying to find someone or a lot of people to stand up to these people b/c as consumers and human beings WE HAVE RIGHTS. I'm tired of being taken advantage of.

I'm on year 2 w/ Credit Acceptance and so far I've had no problems with them. It seems like most of the complaints on here are due to Credit Acceptance giving them a hard time when they are late on payments, or aren't able to make one, or the problems that they are having w/ their car. Granted, there are some people who are going unexpectedly run into hard times and, unfortunately, are going to run into problems with their cars. But two things.
First, CA is taking a chance on people like us by giving us a loan to finance a car, which other lenders won't do. So, I am not really surprised that they have strict payment policies. I mean, if I was in a better state and loaned a "high risk" person money I'd be hard on them, too, making sure they paid me on our agreed date. Simply put, you just have to see it from their eyes. While this may sound a bit harsh, but true, if you even think that you may run into financial trouble while financing your car at least finance an older/cheaper car instead of the more newer/expensive ones. You'll thank yourself later.
Secondly, everyone is going to run into car trouble. Whether you get a flat tire, battery dies, bearings on your car are fragile and need replaced, or your engine breaks down. To make it short, it that really CA's problem? No. So, why even fault them for something that happened to your car? They're simply just a finance company. Unless it's for insurance purposes, there's not really much they can do for you. I had to go through a couple of repairs with my Jeep. Did I whine to CA about it? No. I pouted, as any car owner would, and went to the car repair shop, got the car repaired, paid for the service, then went on with my day.
I'm not trying to defend CA or say that they are the greatest car financing company. But you, the customer, need to understand yours and their situation. Like I said, I haven't had any issues with them, so far, so I can't really say. I knew my situation before I signed the papers with CA. I knew what I could afford and strategically looked over my payment options. Did I get the car I wanted? Nope. But did I get the payment plan I wanted? Sure did, and that's all that matter. And you know what? I have not had any issues with CA and I have made all my payments on time before, or on, the due date. I'm not trying to sound all perfect, but these are things that I am learning as I am working on improving my credit and becoming financially stable. Overall, I am really satisfied with CA that they have given me the chance to own a car when other financing companies wouldn't.

Financed my $5,500 car loan unfortunately thru this bank. Honestly not sure how this company hasn't been shut down by Feds that's how shady they are... Here's my story... 19 days ago with only owing/LATE ON ONE PAYMENT and $1,900 AWAY from owning the car they send Repo people to my work and REPO guys (3) one DROVE NOT TOWED DROVE MY CAR out of my sight. Obviously it's middle of winter and at my job I go directly back inside to call bank and pay to get my car back so I do so.
They then tell me to call the repo company to set up the appointment to pick up my car. I do so I'm informed, "Oh yeah the car is not running under its own power anymore and you need to bring a tow truck and a mechanic." I said, "Excuse me, you guys just drove it away. Took it from my work 15 minutes ago. What do you mean it's broke down?" Repo guy told me, "Oh yeah cars a piece of ** and something broke on it. Not our problem." Funny right? I said, "OK we'll see about that." Call the bank back immediately tell them what's going on. I'm told by two different people in the redemption department as well as my husband calling and being told all calls are recorded by the way that the car was not in the same condition as when I handed it over not to pick up the vehicle.
Called repo company back. Told him that was the situation that the bank I would be in touch but I am not picking up a broken vehicle that I handed over that was totally fine that I drove to work 40 minutes from my house. Or is the very rude repo people said they wanted to "pound" my husband, ran their mouths to me. The most disrespectful people I've ever dealt with in my life. I'm then told now this is my six or seventh call the bank that day, "All your legal team needs to look into this." "Will be in touch within 24 hours. If you don't hear back in 24 hours, call us." We did the 24 hours. Call back to the redemption department and I'm now told, "Oh no you were misinformed. It's 7 to 10 business days before the legal team gets back to you." Mind you I have no vehicle. I've paid to have the vehicle released. The repo people broke my car and now I need to wait. I have a job.
It's two days before Christmas so I'm forced to go rent a car. Cost me $515 for the week. Still hadn't heard from redemption department. Of course on the 10th day of the last hour they finally called me to tell me that die I need to show proof that they drove the vehicle even though I have a handful of witnesses from my work that saw it happen. The vehicle broke down. I don't know quarter mile from my work. Not even anywhere near my work's property. That I had witnesses of that also said how would I drive a broke down vehicle to work that day when I live 40 minutes away. Hello doesn't even make sense. Car was backed into my parking spot I parked in for 10 years. This legal department yeah add a joke. It's just him another customer service center of the church have their heads so if their asses it's not even funny. Tell me no I can't send pictures of the layout of the parking lot, no I can't get statements from the cops, from people at work that witnessed it, so pretty much tell me no I can't prove to them that they drove my car.
Finally get my car back towed to my house at my expense yesterday. Whatever they did to my car they must've beat the piss out of it in the quarter-mile they drove it and probably hit the 3 foot crater in the middle of the road because it's New Englanders potholes everywhere. Don't know. No idea what they did. It drove fine when I drove it last. At lunch that day broke and axle and or a CV joint axle hit that bump so hard that's my guess broke the motor mount. Course that's a dealer part only. It's the weekend car still not drivable. Nobody cares. This place is a joke I'm not even sure how this could be legal.
I just am baffled here no help from the bank. They hired the repo people like I'm not paying customer here. I just I'm baffled. Yeah. OK. Called and file the claim with the Better Business Bureau me and 1 million other people what contact my state Attorney General with 8000 people maybe in two years get a call or a letter from somebody telling me, "Oh yeah go hire a lawyer." Will go hire a lawyer for $2000 on a car that's not even worth that and I don't even owe that much on, YEAH OK. Like I said how this place is even still in business? I'm shocked and floored. Am yeah so if anyone has any suggestions or thoughts or can offer any help it would be greatly appreciated.

Credit Acceptance is bad for business! I was late for a couple days and made a partial payment the month before and they re-poed my car in February! My payments are extremely high 615.95 on a 2015 Chrysler 200 and I am looking to get out of my contract. They charged 815 something and it took a dozen times to call to get thru for them to accept the payment and for me to get my car out from recovery. When I received my car from Mad Dogg Recovery in Lynwood, IL, all of my belongings were in black garbage bags and my license plates were taken off of my vehicle. It seems as though they were banking on sending my vehicle to auction. They call and harass you and don't give a grace period unless you're set up on auto pay. Some customer reps are pleasant and understand, and others can be cruel and cold-hearted douchebags. They are a rip-off and should be out of business.

My husband and myself were in a bad situation and had no choice but get a car, because our family was to be moved from Texas to California on military orders. My husband and I had some bad things happened prior, and it ruined our credit score, so we couldn't get a good interest rates or a reputable financial institution to finance us. So we went to a car dealership that got credit acceptance to finance us on horrible terms, but we had no choice, we had to move. We purchased mazda 2007 in 2012 with 90000 for almost 20000.
Later my husband had to file bankruptcy but only under his name. I was a cosigner on the car, and I keep on paying. I have another year to pay, I have never missed a payment, despite the fact the car has been sitting in the garage for a year and is not drivable. It has been under recall for over a year, and they don't have parts to fix it. I owe 4500$ on the car, that worth 1600$ according to blue book.
They put my phone under block and won't answer. I have been trying for the past two months to get a payoff information. They placed my account and my social number into their bankruptcy folder, and automated service hangs up as soon as recognizes my number. I however, like I said never filed bankruptcy and they have never corrected account under my name, although they never forget to withdraw the automatic payment I set up back in 2012. How do you allow these organizations to scam honest working citizens, and speculate so openly. They don't even bother to call! Consumers deserve protection!!!

I financed through Credit Acceptance Corporation for just over two years from June 2014 through July 2016. All payments were made in full that entire time and on time, never late. July 11, my regular occurring bi-weekly payment was made. I went to my credit union and refinanced 2 days later on Wednesday July 13. I received a 10 day quote and a check was mailed covering that balance. The following day I received it. I want to reiterate that for two years I always made my payments bi-weekly and they were auto-draft so I never had to call in.
My first issue here is that a payment came out on July 15th 5 days after my previous "bi-weekly " payment and one day after a check was mailed covering everything. I never got to the reason behind why Credit Acceptance was drafting a payment that was not due because I have a bigger issue here. Anyhow due to that payment it would have resulted in an overpayment to C.A. and I contacted them to have the payment reversed which they said they weren't able to do. They said I would receive a check in the mail within 3 weeks to return the amount overpaid. It's funny how they can take my money in a second but yet it will take me almost a month to get it back???
Since they would not return almost 150$ to me in a timely manner I contacted my credit union to have the payment reversed. This process took 3 business days. I had to print, fill out a form, fax it and wait for approval. I mention this in regards to a later point I will elaborate on because C.A. claimed the payment was not made when in fact it processed and posted during those several days. To get back to July, I called twice within the week and a half of mailing the check to see if the check was received. The automated system didn't recognize me as having an account (indicating it was closed). I also spoke to a rep to verify this information and she also stated the account is closed, paid in full, and that there was no further action on my part.
Come September I go to apply for new car insurance and I received an adverse credit action notice so I go to check my report and see there is a charge off from C.A. as of August 2016. I have several issues with this here. First off I never received any communication from them indicating there might be some money owed, no phone calls, no email, no mail, NOTHING. It just went straight to the credit bureau. Second how do you even close an account if the customer owed any type of money, the answer is you can't.
The most frustrating part is the amount they claim I owe is 21$!!! Here I have spent two years paying thousands of dollars to these people and you don't have to decency to notify my account has been reopened. Instead they just send it off as a charge off, I never had a chance to dispute or pay (if I felt I owed). Anyone could have paid that off easily. The issue here is not the money but the fact that I already had this negative item for almost two months when I found out and now about four months.
Till this day I have no idea what the 21$ (now 21.95$ for some reason I'm not aware why or when) is because in these months I have spoke to dozens of rep and they all say different things. For several months it was said it's a return check fee which is impossible when the payment did in fact come out. Then they called it a late fee and more recently a past due balance, none of which makes sense.
As I mentioned I've spoke to many many reps and supervisors alike in multiple departments and I even filed 2 (now 3) disputes with the credit bureaus to get this resolved and they are essentially taking C.A.'s word. I spoke to 2 reps in particular of C.A. that agreed these items would be deleted, and updated as current and paid off as of July. However, I could not reach them after those conversation and they did not provide me written documentations to support my claims.
The balance was cleared after I spoke to the first representative on November 15th that stated my recent statement and my title was finally mailed. However at some point they reopened it (again without notice) and are now going against what other reps were saying would be deleted and are now showing a balance again. They are of course still refusing to admit their mistakes. This company has caused me so much stress and turmoil because I can't get a better auto rate, take a loan to fix my car, or even get a new one due to what they unjustly put on my report.
I work and go to school and just to do these things cost me so much money now. I worked hard to build my credit from nothing to pretty good for someone with such a short history. Not only has this matter affected me but it has affected my cosigner because they are suffering the repercussions as well. All I want is justice. Corporations like this don't want to admit when they make mistakes and I'm not afraid to call them out on it and let my voice be heard. I only hope people can learn from me and not do business with people that are as sketchy, unprofessional, and lack human decency as they are.

Credit Acceptance is a great company to work with. I was in a bind. My engine blew up on my old car and I had a 483 credit score and I needed a vehicle. They financed me when literally nobody else would. Everything was disclosed in the contract. They finance high risk customers so yes, the APR will be very high and if you want a nicer vehicle, you will have to pony up some dough. They will get aggressive if you are late and don't respond to them. Contrary to what has been said, they do not want to repo you car anymore than you want it to be repoed.
When they sell it at auction, they most likely won't get enough to pay the remaining balance and then they have to go through the hassle of suing you for the difference. They would much rather you pay the loan off. If you call them, they are quite reasonable and willing to work with you to help you get caught up. You have to be at least 30 days past due before there is talk of repossession. When you buy the vehicle, the dealership can set you up on autopay so you are never late. Also, get the vehicle inspected by an independent mechanic if you have concerns. I successfully paid off my account with Credit Acceptance. I had perfect history with them and my credit score is now in the mid 600's. Financing through them is not ideal but they have helped many desperate people get into a vehicle and restore their credit.

Like 80% of the people writing a review for this company. I ended up getting my loan through them not because my credit is bad, but because I already have a car in my name and we needed another car and a lot of the lenders will not do it if you have an existing loan. I get the loan through Credit Acceptance. About 6 months into the loan I was about a week late with my monthly payment and called and explained to them that it would be late and made arrangements with the customer service rep. 2 days later the car was repoed.
Okay, so I pay the required fees less than 24 hours to get it back all except the repo fee that they set me up on a plan until March 2017. This fee was around $300. Well on the 14th of November I called them and stated that I get paid on the following Monday and that I could make the payment then. The rep states that I have to make the payment that day or they will repo the car. So I make the payment through my checking account. This account is only used to pay bills. Well at the same time my monthly back fee comes in and subtracts $5 out of the car payment, I notice that my account is overdrawn due to this and rush to put the extra money back in the back. I was 1 minute late to the back and missed it. The check will now be returned to Credit Acceptance.
So I immediately go to Money Gram and make the payment thinking I'm okay since I submitted the payment. This was on the 15th which was over 2 weeks ago. No phone calls saying, 'You're late', or 'You have violated the contract' nothing. So today I come to work, park in my same are. Well I come out to move the car since it is my late day to work until 8 pm and guess what no car!!! I call Credit Acceptance and ask what is going on. The rep tells me, "Oh you were late paying - your payment - so we repoed the car".
So I explained to him what happened with the check and out of good faith I took the money and made the payment the next day. He said the arrangement is on the 14th of the month and in order to get back the car you have to pay $802.20. I said, "Are you kidding me? So what happened to my payment that I made on the 15th?" He says, "Oh that will be applied to your balance but you need to pay the monthly payment plus repo fees to get back the car." I have never in all my years dealing with finance companies have heard anything like this! This company is a rip-off and who repos the car when you clearly have the payment even if it is 24 hours late.
This is the way the prey on people and make money off of the consumer. This is a HORRIBLE company and I am so sorry I got financed through them. I have had at least 3 cars and have NEVER had this issue with a finance company before! I have read the reviews and this is just a money-making rip-off company and the Better Business Bureau should pull the license. Most companies will give you a grace period to make the payments. The customer service reps are very rude, unprofessional and on more than one occasion when calling in I get different information.
How does the owner of this company sleep at night I do not know. I am a single person and reading the reviews with families involved it is very sad that this is the best way that someone can think to make money. Even if I were desperate for a job I would NEVER work for a company like this. Where are the morals to society?? Again may God help the people who run, scam and rip-off the people who have signed a contract with this company.

I was told was my only option Credit Acceptance. I put down 4,000 and had payments of $250 a month for 3 years bringing it to about $12,000 I would pay. Not bad for the car had 20,000 miles on it... so I thought!
Now I only have 3 months left of this contact. They start hitting me with these LATE FEES AND MISSED PAYMENTS!? And when I ask to speak to a manager, boss or anyone over the company, they claim they isn't anyone to report them to! So further giving them a reason to not care about the treatment of their customers!
I'm sooo angry that I went with them! IT'S TRUE.. They prey on people that need financial help with ** cars to get the most money out of a car you probably have to take to the shop as soon as it's paid off! They are taxing unreasonably without notice.. and then threaten to take your car only to add more interest by making you redo and payment plan... Long story short, trying to make me pay over $400 a month for a car I will be done paying by February 2017... it's **!
When you try to talk to them and make sense of the crap they get angry, cut you off while talking, and then tell you to be polite! But I DON'T WORK THERE... YOU DO!!!! So you all work on your customer service! The runaround they gave me today is unbelievable, to them hanging up in my face BECAUSE I PROVED THEM WRONG!!!
If anyone knows who I can get in contact with to REPORT THEM AND THOSE RUDE EMPLOYEE PLEASEEEE! Since then, I've paid on time. This month I was late 5 days (including a holiday thanksgiving 2016) and my car was put on the repossession list and picked up same day today/Friday. I'm not going to go into details, because it's irrelevant as they have the car. I would advise everyone regardless of how desperate you are to finance a car to either wait and purchase from a reputable lender or go another route. I've read their reviews and I'm so disgusted.
What kind of finance company takes pleasure in giving a 10-20,000 loan to easily repossess a car as if it was a rental car. I find them to be pathetic predatory lenders and Karma will work on the behalf of every family they cause pain and suffering to. They told me "oh we don't want to repossess your car," and I think really you'd rather not spend 3.00 on a certified letter and just repo my car with the hope that I'd pay to get it back OR you sell it/auction (and I've purchased less than 1 year). My due date was 20th and it was repossessed 25th.

Now how would you consider that a good quality customer service. I've had credit with other companies in the past but, nowhere have they left me stranded in a 33 degree freezing weather. They always made the initiative to work with us. Let alone my spouse is already on Medical Leave for a month now and yet they decide to add on more issues?

They will finance a vehicle at 200% the appraised value in order to split a kick back with the dealerships. The vehicle was listed at $7,497.00. However, in the office with the account manager, it magically increased to $10,997. The vehicle was a 2009 Ford E250 Kelley Blue Book $4500, ladder rack, shelving, door locks $3000 value, total van value $7,500.00. With a $3,000.00 down payment should be financing $4,500.00. Yet the dealership says Credit Acceptance added fees, I asked for disclosure of the fees and it was then said that it was Credit Acceptance requiring that the vehicle be listed at list price of $10,997.00 instead of the posted price of $7,997.00.

I was reading all the complaints and I just more or less wanted to do a play by play, from our loan origination, to pay off completion. I feel that reading the complaints just seemed so one sided to me. We had purchased our vehicle at Kightlinger Auto sales Inc., a fair 2004 Santa Fe 4wd. Hey Not new but it moves, it gets us from point A to point B. Now we have yet to receive our payment book, but did contact them to see if we could get the payment date changed to the 15th. We were told that this was not possible due to the contract. Ok fair enough! However, the rep did indicate that, if we set up AUTOPAY, we would more or less have a 10-day grace, I am really not one for auto pay, so I feel that the best course of action would be to make sure we have monies available, on or before the 9th. I felt that the rep was honest, sincere, and very helpful.
Some of the reviews that I have read about this company, I have to question. My bottom line to not having my vehicle taken. READ YOUR CONTRACT! MAKE YOUR PAYMENT! CONFIRM THAT PAYMENT WAS RECEIVED! I refuse to send any snail mail payment; I will pay up to but not over 10.00 to have my monies removed off a debit card (prepaid). I will never have any company have access to a checking account with debit card access, that has all of my funds on it. Two reasons 1. Murphy's law. 2. If a company tries to take more monies that they are so-posed to. I have that declined transaction notification sent to me, now I have proof of funny stuff. Yes I have had that happen to me before, some type of mistake or some dunderhead added a 0. Not fun to have no monies or having to wait for held up funds either to pay other bills or put food in my belly.
Basically they are taking a chance on you, and you at least must give the same in return, being up front is the best bet. Be on top of this at all times. After reading my full contract, they have the right to take the vehicle to protect their interest. With that being said, so far I am going to give them 5 stars. They were easy to work with, the contract was plain and simple, the reps we spoke to so far were great.

I was a little taken back to see such bad reviews for Credit Acceptance. I purchased a car in September 2014 from one of their dealers here in NJ. At first I was a little reluctant when I was told over the phone that they had an approval by Credit Acceptance. I'm the type of person that researches everything especially on companies that I will be doing business with but I was so excited that I received an approval for a 2013 car (then just a year old). I have had some credit issues in the past but have worked really hard to change that. So I drove out to the dealer, looked at the car and loved it so I traded in my old paid off vehicle, didn't have to put any money down and drove home with my new car in less than hour. The interest rate was high but my payments were within my budget and I was completely satisfied. I have always made my payments before the due date and never missed a payment in 2 years.
Two weeks ago I received another call from the same dealer asking me if I still the car I purchased from them years earlier, which I did. They asked me to come down and take a look at their new inventory and they may have a better deal for me on a newer vehicle. So I decided to go there and see exactly what they had to offer me. Lo and behold they were able to get me a 2015 Camaro. They promised to pay off the 2013 Fiat I previously purchased from them. I was a little concerned about how the whole pay off thing would work with Credit Acceptance. There were no issues whatsoever.
The point of my story is that as long as you make your payments on time, you will not hear from Credit Acceptance. My experience fortunately was a great one. This time around I was financed through a different company but they based my approval off my Credit Acceptance payment history. Yes the interest rates may be high, but if you stick to your goal and make your payments, you will have a great experience just like I did with Credit Acceptance. We all know what we are getting ourselves into when we sign our names on the dotted lines. Thanks Credit Acceptance for financing me when no one else would.

I traded in a 2001 Jaguar Vader Plus Super Charged (170+MPH) and brought in the 4 collector estimates, each showed a vale of $8500+. The truck I wanted they said they could not get financed, then they bring a truck from somewhere in the back, unwashed, almost bald tires and ran like crap. The odometer read 44,876.9/10. Before I could say anything they put a green sticker on my Jag and it was gone. I told them that an army pension is good but I did not wish to pay any more than 250/350 at most.
When the finance manager got done with the paperwork, my payments were over $589+ and my trade-in was $4000. I said NO but my car was gone; I told them to produce my car and they said it was already gone. They promised to put on new tires, get it cleaned up and tuned up. I took the F150XLT to the Ford dealership and they said that the computers had been switched out and the truck had more like 144,000 to 244,000 Miles on the engine. I am just glad it's off my farm in Michigan even if it did cost me $2500 to ship it back to them in VA. I will never do business with either company again.

1st off I would like to say that I was forced to give this company a 1 star. It's recommended. 2nd, after reading these reviews, it seems like all of the 5 star ratings on here look coerced as if someone INSIDE of the company wrote the review to keep their star rating up. All the 5 stars are anonymous writers??? Seems fishy...
Now my review... My problem with this company is that they are REAL SHADY when it comes to situations where they don't get their money on time... I had my car set up on auto payments from DAY 1. A few months later, for some odd reason my account was frozen the day they tried taking the payment out of my account... I never noticed the freeze bcuz none of my cards were ever declined the day it was frozen. I called my bank and all and it seemed to have been an error or something.
The issue here is that when they didn't receive a payment, you would think they'd call you to see why you missed a payment. Nope, nothing. I learned of the mishap a month later when the vehicle was repossessed without notice. I call credit acceptance to find out what is going on and that is when I find all of this out... My thing is, why did nobody call and leave a message or something about the missed payment and to call back and fix the problem? Their answer was that their policy requires them to NOT leave voicemails.
The issue now is that I bought a new car and am basically giving the other car which is financed through them BACK. So now again they wanna get nasty over the phone being that I refuse to continue paying them bcuz of their shady practices. The rep basically told me that they were gonna write off my car as an abandonment Vs a voluntary repo being that I'd rather them get it from the lot where I left it VS coming to my house to get it. It is not an abandonment if I'm literally telling you I'm surrendering my vehicle.
THAT RIGHT THERE IS THE SHADINESS... Never in my life has a company I dealt with NOT call to let me know if a payment was late or the card was declined or wrong to rectify the situation... It seems as if this company finds any and every way to screw over everyone in order to collect as much money as possible. How can you be a credit rebuilding company if all you do is destroy people's credit in the process? There is no type of LEEWAY for anything at all. The day you don't pay, be looking for your vehicle to be repossessed...
I don't even wanna continue with this review because I can go on and on about all the shadiness in this company. Also be aware that customer service is rude as well and will hang up on you mid convo once they hear that you can't make a payment on time or something. As long as I've had credit, I've never in my life dealt with a company so deceiving and nasty... And I really don't know how this company isn't under investigation for a lot of their shady practices.

Due to illness, had to travel to another country for health care. Forgot a payment. As all other payments went through, I still did not realize until car was taken. I paid the one months payment and towing fees, before the agreement date only to hear that the car is under a work order as if they are preparing for auction. My property has been cleared out of the car. Of course I am fuming, but I am going to see what transpires. There was a lady, "Wife of Marietta" on this site that may be pursuing a class action lawsuit. I have legal experience in the States and in London. I work very hard, as I know many US citizens do and I cannot stand injustice.
I have read quite a few of the other complaints and it is a possibility that this company is affiliated with car sales companies that sell lemons. Low income families or people with not so great credit seem to be the target. Companies like this prey on people's dreams and hopes. People get into financial strife; unexpected illness is one of them. I hope to network with others that have felt that they have been unreasonably or unfairly treated. Unreasonably and unfairly being the operative words here. You know, one thing that I loved when reading "Wife of Marietta's" post, when she said that we have to fight together. When big businesses get away with wickedness they usually continue because no one stands up to them. Their greed motivates them, but our passion to help one another should motivate us to help others. Even if it is to make people aware.

Hi everyone. Well 2 weeks ago Credit Acceptance repoed my van due to a non payment which was mine and my husband's fault. We were late 2 months. Whoops our mistake because we had moved and did not call them. So I received a paper in the mail and said I still have time to get it out of repo so I just got my money and paid what I had to pay. And now today on Nov 1 2016 Credit Acceptance Corp has been working around the clock to contact the auction place where my van is at to get it set up for me to pick up. So all these bad reviews on here about how the Credit Acceptance has sold a car to you - they don't sell the cars to you. They give you a loan and you pay them back. That's all you do so please think about that before judgment. And 2 the only way they take the cars is if you did what I did, did not pay in 2 months or a month. They have a right to repo it so think before posting bad about a company that has nothing to do with the sale of the car but payment only.
And if you have a problem with someone you talk to about a payment then ask to speak to a supervisor. And the only way to get things taken care of instead of smart mouth is to talk with calmness without fighting with them. That's what gets you in trouble and that's how you have a car taken away because they think you don't want to pay. Please read up on troubles with paying a car loan and it will guide you through steps to steps on how to talk to a rep without arguments and fights to take care of matters.
Please everyone they're not so bad. They want you to have you car back. They hate taking the cars so do what you can to keep payments on time and if you have problems contact them and tell them. That's what me and my husband did. Thanks for reading and please understand again they're not there to be bad guys. They're there to help but you have to help yourself in order to get stuff taken care of. Also if you can't make any more payments let them know that you like to repo your car and they will be very happy to assist you in the process. GOD BLESS TO ALL AND HAVE A GREAT THANKSGIVING, CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR.

So far, almost every single complaint I've seen on here is idiotic. If you buy a car from a crap lot and it breaks down, you can't blame the company that financed your loan. You blame the CAR LOT! Common sense!! Also, if you can't make your payments, for WHATEVER reason, your car will be repossessed. Do y'all have any idea how many people will call and whine that they're in a hardship due to reasons they can't control just to try and skip a few payments? Come on, people! When you enter an agreement to pay a loan, PAY IT!! I get that everyone does actually have issues in life; job loss, death in the family, whatever, but that doesn't mean you can blame Credit Acceptance Corp for not cutting you some slack. If that were the case, we'd all have a death like every month to avoid payments.
Y'all are pathetic and want handouts. I've had NO issues with credit acceptance yet, and don't plan to because I MAKE MY PAYMENTS!! And if something DOES happen and I can't make a payment, that's MY problem, not theirs. I have a mortgage payment, a truck payment, and a car payment. I've had some moments when I've been down & I manage. But I also make my payments. And if I don't, that's MY fault. These bad reviews really piss me off!! Y'all have no common sense AT ALL.

American Credit Acceptance is a bank that preys on people that have less than perfect credit. They use a product that is called a "Simple Loan." The definition of a simple interest loan is a loan that calculates interest only on the principal (the amount borrowed) and not on the interest owed. An example of simple interest loan is a mortgage with a 5% interest rate that is divided into 365, which is .0137% daily. Not only do they use ridiculous rates as high as 20-25% depending on your credit, they increase on a daily basis which means that you will never pay off the original amount you signed for. Furthermore, if you miss a payment by a day, it also increases.
You can only change your pay date once in the term of the loan, so there are no changes after that if you have a problem. They use an outside collection company for web payments charging $7.45 per payments. The website does not use any SSL certificates which means that your information is sent through the internet in clear text which can be easily hacked. In short, your principal (what you owe on your vehicle) will never go down more than 20% of what you are paying and the rest is pure interest. Stay away from this and any bank offering this type of loan, no matter how bad you need your car. I hope this helps someone considering using this bank or a similar financial institution.

They quickly accepted my trade-in and I drove away in the Chevy Equinox and which was financed from Credit Acceptance (big mistake). The car tore up with me on the 1st week, it was running hot, and the car lot did fix the problem at the time, which a few more weeks had passed with the same re-occurring problem. They did not offer to fix the problem and the air conditioner plus heater (blowers) quit working on top of the other problems. Credit Acceptance would let me change vehicles.
My husband lost his job and we lost the ability to make the high payment. They accepted lower payments, but went back on their word and wanted the car back expecting the higher payment which we could not afford. The car was junk and I had to shut it off every time the temp rose. My husband got in a heated argument and they pick up the car. They picked it up alright, even with me contacting a attorney I have used in the past. He advised me they would sell it and come at me for the remaining balance that was owed. The car was priced at 11,000.00 and the book value was low, I owed about 7,000 on it. And they hired a agency to collect the remaining balance of 4000.00, they only got a little over 3000 at the sell.
I tried to work with this company they hired, but it was very hard, paying on a vehicle you no longer have and on limited income. I offered a settlement at tax time of 1800.00. They would not accept it. I only owed 2400.00, and now I have been unable to pay the monthly payments for some time. So now they have hired a company Verifax to investigate where I work. Now the attorneys for Credit Acceptance are coming at me now, and I got their direct number to work with them and now they wont call me back. I am warning consumer, please, please do not get a car loan with them. The car lots they deal with, you have to be aware of what you are buying. I am calling the attorney today and maybe they can get in touch with them, before they sue me. Thanks.

On May 3, my husband, 2 very small children and I were in a 3 vehicle collision which completely totaled out our then 2003 Chrysler Town and Country (Fully owned). We went to a local dealership that carried the vehicle I really wanted and started working with the finance team in finding us a new vehicle. Upon checking our credit, they decided that the vehicle I wanted was WAY out of our ability of payment range and showed us a 2008 Toyota Camry XLE. They didn't even disclose the price of the car on the lot, by the time showing us they had removed the price tag on it. So since our credit was horrible, mine being a thin file and my husband's destroyed from a previous marriage, we were told that Credit Acceptance was willing to take us on as new vehicle owners. They made our loan out to over $14k, we were to pay 277.25 a month and our interest rate is 24.99% for 60 months.
Since driving the car off of the lot on May 11, 2016, my husband has lost his job due to having to help me with our kids, I was badly injured in the wreck, and I have had to call and set up payment arrangements, I have followed through with the allowed $75 for the 3 months it was scheduled for. Our last payment on the arrangement was for October and I paid $90, on the 4th they called my husband's cell phone at least 9 times. I finally called them back to set up a new payment arrangement as I had been directed to do if my circumstances hadn't changed, and they still haven't. We're on a fixed income of $342 a month and still have to be able to afford our car insurance, diapers, and everything else for the house with an expenditure of $75 left over.
Essentially, what I'm saying is, I called under good faith of having made all the payments asked of me and the first words out of the representative's mouth was, "I see that you are past due $795, how would you like to take care of that today?" I explained that I was calling to set up a new payment arrangement because our situation had not changed whatsoever and I was informed that even though I had made those arranged payments of $75 each month on time that I was required to pay the back balance because my account would be pulled for review and I would lose my car anyway because $75 isn't enough of the payment to allow me to keep it. So I asked them to give me a payment amount that needed to be paid within a given period of time and I was repeatedly told the $795 was all that could be paid to keep my vehicle and not be seen as defaulting on my loan.
I then handed the phone to my husband as I had became heated and didn't want to say anything stupid to wind up losing the car as it was. My husband informed them of how they were harassing us by telephone and the rep laughed at him and stated that they were allowed to call as many times as they do. He told them that if he received another phone call he would file a cease and desist against them. The rep then told him that they would just delete our phone numbers from the file and we would be brinking our agreement to open communication with them. My husband then asked what kind of payment did they need for them to allow us another payment agreement and with pure sarcasm the rep stated a full standard payment ($277.25) by Oct 21st. He said "Ok, well we will do that then."
And the rep proceeded to tell him that they were coming to repo the car because there was no payment arrangement made when he verbally stated that "If I have the payment by October 21st, it will be paid since we don't like making agreements that we aren't sure if we can follow through with." They proceeded to tell him that they were going to set up a repo for our car and that there has not been an arrangement made for payment and we were defaulting. We are currently driving the car still and wondering when we're going to go outside and find it gone.
My advice to anyone with bad credit or no credit, there is NO reason anyone should be treated as they are treated by this company. I really do not even feel they deserve 1 star since the car that I was sold, come to find out was $9116 on the lot, isn't even worth $4000. We're stuck paying for it and it has a lot of mechanical issues. We're still waiting on the settlement from our accident and like I said, we have 2 small boys that we need a vehicle. We were stuck in a hard place before, but now it's even worse.
I also want to state that their payment options are all a total ripoff as well... The only way you can make a "free" payment to them is if you set up automatic payments or go to their 1 payment office. Otherwise you're paying a fee of $3-$10 depending the route you choose whether it's one time payment, money order, Western Union, bank, check. It's outrageous. If I had known that this company was a complete and continual knock down for someone TRYING to build their credit back up, I would have bought another vehicle off of the swap pages and dealt with that. Please save your money and sanity and do not go with Credit Acceptance Corp.

I am surprised by the negative reviews on the Credit Acceptance loan company. Mine was a positive one. I have been with Credit Acceptance for a period of one year before refinancing with my local bank. They are a good company to work with as long you make your auto payments on time. The key of success with this company is to pay on time. At that time my credit score was so poor that even my own local bank whom I have a relationship with over 10 years refused an auto loan. Credit Acceptance is a company that gives people second chance to improve their credit scores. I personally never had any problems with my own car which is Toyota Camry 2003 financed through Credit Acceptance. I elected auto-pay option once a month for peace of mind that the auto loan being paid before the "due date". The only downside is interest rates are high but this is what you get when your credit score is that low in the 500's range.
After a period of one year my credit score went up to the point I could be approved with much lower interest rate at my local bank. I would recommend this company for people who wants to rebuild their credit and be able to refinance once the credit score improves. This company reports to all 3 credit bureaus. Again the key of having success is to make your payment on time and never be late.

The attitude is that of a collection agency. Having the money for the payment is not the problem.

A year ago I bought a vehicle from Credit Acceptance... Sunk money after money after money on this lemon... I was 5 days late on one payment and when they repoed it. I was done! I got a call from Credit Acceptance and was offered a 1100 dollar pay off... Which I regrettably accepted! A week later after payoff and payoff paperwork in hand, jeep legalized and liens all off my Jeep they sent a repossession out for my paid off jeep. Even though I had payoff paperwork and clean title in hand Credit Acceptance claims I owe them 10000 more dollars.
Kelley Blue Book says that my jeep as is is worth 2000. I've paid 6800 dollars for it. And because they put a repossession out on it... And even though I have the proof that I paid it off and have the title lien free... Meant nothing! They were able to steal my vehicle claim. They wanted another 10000 for it and with no release form sent from their part they literally stole my vehicle and there was nothing I could do about legal papers and all!

I received a letter from your company stating that I was no longer to pay Credit Acceptance and that my account had been closed because my selling dealer requested to have my contract reassigned to them. When contacting Credit Acceptance upon receipt of the letter, the male representative didn't know why I had received the letter. I was instructed to contact the dealer before making any payments and to contact Credit Acceptance the following morning because the department that should be able to assist me was closed. I contacted the dealer this morning and they knew nothing about it and hadn't requested it and stated that I needed to contact Credit Acceptance again. I followed by calling credit acceptance and was told by a female representative that a supervisor had placed a note on my account that I received the letter in error. I then asked her to have a supervisor to contact me.
A few hours later, I received a call from a male who stated that he was the supervisor of the department that would handle this issue. He was very unprofessional and rude. When I asked to have something sent to me via mail or email stating that I did indeed receive the original letter in error, he denied it by saying that no one could do it. I asked him if I sent an email request, could someone reply to it to verify that I was sent the original letter in error and should resume my actions per my original contract and he stated no. I asked him would it be in my best interest to seek legal council just to receive something that I feel I am owed for my record since it was an error on Credit Acceptance part. He told me that it would uncalled for to do so. I kept insisting on speaking to someone over him or even someone in a corporate position and those request too were denied.
I personally feel targeted and disrespected. I have gone 2 almost 3 years paying for my vehicle through this company even when I was hospitalized and laid off for over a year with my disabled mom as a cosigner on my vehicle to assure that I met my contract agreements. It is very hurtful to do business with a company that makes you feel that you are not a valued customer. I'm asking that someone in the corporate office contact me regarding this disturbing issue.

I purchased a Malibu from the Car dealership across from the Lincoln dealership in Huntsville, Al. The finance company I went through was Credit Acceptance. I absolutely loved my car. The problems I had were with the battery. I had to keep getting my vehicle jumped off if I let a light or the radio on for even a half of a second. One of the wires connected to the battery was corroded very badly and secured with black electrical tape. That was the problem with the battery. Other than that I didn't have any problems and planned on paying off the vehicle. I had perfect payment history for 4 almost 5 years.
I got into a car accident in October 2015 damaging the car greatly. At the time, I failed to have car insurance but I did have gap insurance. I communicated with the car company from day one. I was told to not to make a payment until the gap inspector made a determination on the car. A month came and went and I received a letter that the car was not a total lost and would be sold at an auction. I was not given an opportunity to redeem my vehicle. Next thing came a notice of how much the car was sold for and amount I owed. How could this be.
So I went to try to get another vehicle and was turned down due to the listing on my credit report that it was a involuntary repo. Clearly if you look at my report, you can see the hundreds of "OK's" reported by this company. I was told that whenever they pick up a vehicle, no matter the reason, it's deemed a repo. Well that's not correct, legal or good for business on their part. I received a call later with an offered for financing if I made an arrangement to keep in their office and offered a settlement of 1500.00. Let's just say I have been paying on that car and it is still reporting negative on my report due to the balance being totally due. So what I'm doing in not helping and they have messed up my credit report. I will absolutely never go with the company again and I will be contacting legal services.

I purchased a vehicle from Rock Star Used Cars in Temecula, Ca - 5 months ago (Scammers). I traded in a 2006 fully loaded Honda Accord that had minor mechanic issues for a 2009 Chrysler Sebring. Long story short the car spent more time undriveable and in the shop than on the road. Finally the car stopped running after only 5 months - we contacted credit acceptance to see if they could defer our next 2 payments since we found out the car would need over 4,800.00 in repairs. They would do nothing to help us with this issue (Scammers) so I opted to do a voluntary surrender; they are now lying and saying that they repoed the car. I have all of my paperwork from the mechanics we took it to and I will be suing them under the lemon law. They told me I had to pay postage to have the check mailed to Southfield, Michigan for them to hold until the body shop sent them a final receipt. But to top it off Credit Acceptance said if there was anything left after the repairs the money would automatically be applied to the principal of the vehicle. I don't intend on keeping the vehicle so why would I pay towards the principal.

Reading the reviews, I was terrified of calling this company to discuss that I was behind on my car payments and see if we can make arrangements. But to not get repoed, I did. The woman I spoke to was incredibly nice. When I explained I had been out of work due to an illness, and had gotten 2 months behind on my payments, she was very empathetic. She then set up a payment arrangement schedule with me to get me back on track. I dont doubt this company can be shady - they are for people with bad credit, like myself, and take advantage that some of us are desperate. I screwed up my credit by being irresponsible - I admit it, and want to get back on track. This was the only place that would give me the chance, when my last car completely crapped out on me and I needed a new one desperately.
A year later, I now have 2 credit cards (that I make every payment on time) and my credit score has jumped almost 100 points. I've never been late on my car payment in a year - unfortunately sometimes circumstances happen. My credit score only dropped slightly, but now that I am back on track, I should be fine again. And I have had no problems with the car I purchased with this loan.
I'm sorry people had a bad experience - things happen out of our control, and no one deserves to be treated badly as long as you communicate and try to rectify the issue. But do not be afraid to communicate and try - I had a very good experience with this company. I am actually very grateful to them. Yes the interest is very high, but that is consequences of my own irresponsible actions. But now I have a good car, credit cards, and my credit is on its way to being repaired to where I can get an apartment or a car loan through a regular bank. This company helped get me back on my feet.

How it works this scam company works: You buy a car and get a loan from them - fine. If you pay it off - fine. Still check your credit because even if you pay it off and you were late just once they get you and report BS to your credit bureau!!! Guess what? You won't even know until you buy other car. The reason for this is very simple. They limit the competition by reporting to the credit bureau so all them good deals you see online or tv you will never get because your credit is already messed up by Credit Acceptance, so it comes down to using only them again. Thanks for explaining why Credit Acceptance does this to people. Funny thing this is someone from Credit Acceptance that explain it to me today that works there... Well, not newer but the newest I have ever had. I made payments on time for two years and I never had an issue with the company. Until, I lost my job due to layoffs. I was a day late and received a barrage of collection calls. I asked if there was anything I could do I was told that I needed to make the payment ASAP or my car would be taken. Wait, after being only a day late!? I attempted to set up a payment arrangement but without knowing when unemployment would kick in I was at a loss.
I continued to receive calls. Four, five, sometimes six times a day. All demanding that I make a payment, all telling me that if I didn't I would lose my vehicle. It wasn't even a full payment. They do not defer payments and their customer service is downright rude. After getting caught back up about six months later my husband discovered that he would need major heart surgery. My job alone, would not be enough to sustain us. I had to choose between paying the car and paying rent.
Now it's been less than a week and I get calls every day. Even during work. I have tried to move away from the company but cannot refinance with my income. I work for customer service, we are taught to attempt to get a payment but assist the customer as well. Why? We don't want to lose the customer, it's our biggest concern is customer satisfaction. Even when we know the customer will lose their services we are taught to have empathy.
Credit acceptance has no empathy. My husband is a combat VA veteran. We're currently waiting for his benefits to kick in. With all the stress we are dealing with a little empathy goes a long way. I bought a car from a small dealer a year ago and had gone through this company before, didn't have a problem with them the first time, so I figured I would do it again. Since my credit isn't good to begin with, I can't get a bank to finance anything for me, so this was my only option. This time around was a nightmare. I got late on payments before, and they just turned the car off with the LoJack they had installed. However, I received numerous phone calls 7 days a week. Calling on Sundays is illegal, but they do it anyway. I eventually stopped answering my phone. I was finally able to get caught up, car turned back on, and fell 1 1/2 months behind once more and was waiting for my paycheck. During this time, I have been receiving numerous phone calls 7 days a week again and refused to answer my phone since last time making arrangements didn't stop the phone calls.
Last night, (6-1-2016) a tow truck shows up in my driveway at 1:30 in the morning to repossess my car when it was never shut off with the LoJack. I got all my stuff out of the car, since I was already woken up by the tow truck driver, and gave him the key and also told him to come at a decent hour if he ever darkened my driveway again for any reason. I called today, just got off the phone with them. They were rude, interrupted me, talked down to me, but they don't like it when it happens to them. Tough. I tell it the way it is and how I see it. I asked for a manager, they said "managers aren't on the floor and aren't available to take calls." The lady I talked to said she was a lead on the floor. I asked her why it was repo'd for just over $500 and she said because I was behind. I told her they had less than 14 hours to wait to get a payment and it should have been shut off first.
She told me that "sometimes the car doesn't get the signal." My car got the signal last time in the same spot in my driveway, why not this time? I told her IF I made the payment, they would waive the repossess fee, they refused, so I told them it better not show up on my credit report since they wanted to do this. She told me it would be sold at auction and I would have to pay the remaining balance if I didn't want the car back. Bought a vehicle. Had a problem with it the 3rd day. Brought it back, the dealer had the vehicle for 3 months attempting they were going to fix the vehicle. Called Credit Acceptance and told me they were going to help fix the problem because I am making payments and I haven't had the car. I call them when I picked up the car as I was told to do and see if it was fixed.
I drove the car for 10 minutes and there's a problem with it again. There was a women I spoke to on the phone, name was sabrina from Credit Acceptance and told me that I bought the car as is and there is no proof of paperwork or warranty on the vehicle, that there is nothing they can do and "you have to make payments."
I haven't had the car so I asked for a waived month because all the bus fees and gas money I have dished out to get to work and back has thrown me behind and very rude lady that I spoke to said, "answer is still no," that it's not her problem. I don't recommend this loan company because you will be in debt, I guarantee it. As of now the dealer once again has my vehicle and promised to get it fixed this week.

This month I called and asked to do 1/2 half payment and was told that would be fine and today they repoed my car and when I called and asked why, I was told they can repo a vehicle whenever they like even if an agreement has been made. "Well, ma'am you HAVE to answer these questions." Not security questions! But irrelevant questions! So I said well I have to really have to go. This is probably the worst finance company my husband has ever gone with. He got his vehicle from a dealership and credit acceptance popped up saying they would finance him. I really wish we would have done research on this company before even going with them. They set him up to pay 117.44 every week and then they apparently set his due date to the 8th of every month. So needless to say for over 2 years we have been paying this company weekly. Every week the car will beep and they will call and harass us saying that we aren't making our full payment because we need to have the entire car paid by the 8th of each month. So if that is so then maybe they should have made a different payment schedule.
Then to top it off the customer service reps are absolutely horrible!!! They speak to everyone as if they are idiots and are very very rude. I have never dealt with a company that had people working for them that have absolutely no tact whatsoever. They don't make notes on the account when they say they are going to do, so you tell them something and they never write it down. Then when you call back in they basically act like you are lying and give you the runaround.
We will never ever use them again. And I highly advise that people check them out prior to doing business with them. They have now raised my husband's car payment to 135.00 a week just to satisfy them getting paid on the 8th of each month. So they aren't even allowing us to make the payments that were agreed upon. So we are stuck paying 135.00 a week now. Then they call us and threaten us and say that if we don't pay this that they will repossess the car, even though payments have always been made!!! Worst business and they shouldn't be allowed to be in business anymore. So people please read reviews because it might save you time, money and your credit!

Where should I start with this company? So in 2013 I financed a vehicle through this company. I figured since I was financing my first vehicle that things were a little more expensive and had no problem with that. I made my payments on time every month for a year and a half of my 2 year loan. Now here's the kicker. If I had not made my payment by noon on the day it was due they would call me and be extremely rude. And call 4 to 5 times from different numbers if I did not answer.
Long story short they harassed my employer and that played a part in me then getting laid off from my job. When they called they were always very rude and had an attitude about everything. I got laid off, they repossessed my car and sold it at auction and would never work with me. Now they are attempting to garnish my wages after I told them to go kick rocks. Never ever allow this company to finance you. They are scam artists and will harass, belittle and even threaten you. They are the scum of the earth. Hence the 1 star rating from myself and many many others.

Two years ago, I decided to finance my first car, a cute little Chevy Aveo. The moment I took it off the lot, it broke down. The seller said he crossed the wires by mistake. Not even a month later is where the trouble began. I financed this car through Credit Acceptance for 7 months just about. Within those seven months, the car had broken down on me six times. The tires blew out, the catalyst converter was busted, the transmission was bad, the alternator died, the starter went, the ignition went too and my key was stuck in the ignition. I couldn't afford to care for this car anymore. I was getting way behind on my other bills so I had them take it back. Now they are trying to sue me for the balance. My advice is do not finance through this company. If you decide to finance a car, there are plenty of other options.

Purchased a year old car that was certified used from a local Chrysler dealer last year through Credit Acceptance as a financer. About 10 months later I faced a hardship due to medical bills and had to file bankruptcy, however I reaffirmed my two auto loans with intent to keep paying on both of them (my other vehicle was financed through Ally Bank via General Motors). Ally Bank immediately accepted my reaffirmation and even called me to see if there was anything they could do to help me through the bankruptcy process since I wasn't wanting to give up my cars. Credit Acceptance NEVER responded or called myself or my attorney with regards to anything. Therefore, I just kept paying my car payments with CA as usual just like I did with Ally.
Well, lo and behold now 5 months later CA just came and repossessed my car because they decided they didn't want to allow the reaffirmation during bankruptcy. They never told me they weren't going to permit it, and they let me keep making payments on the car after my bankruptcy all the while knowing that they had intentions on coming to take my car. So all of those monthly payments since my bankruptcy were a waste because they had intention to recollect the car from the very beginning.
I called them to see what I could do to keep the vehicle, and their answer was that since it was considered part of a bankruptcy all I could do was pay the balance owed on the bill... $16,000. I told them that wasn't happening because that vehicle shouldn't have been repossessed to begin with and the lady was very disrespectful and not willing to negotiate at all, and neither was her supervisor. This company absolutely doesn't care about their customers and is only out to scam people out of money.
Like I said, I simultaneously went through the EXACT same process at the EXACT same time with my other vehicle through Ally Bank and they were extremely accommodating. Credit Acceptance is a sham, and they shouldn't be allowed to be in business. If they are the only company approved to finance your vehicle, then don't get a vehicle. Because all that will happen if you'll have your vehicle for a year or so and then they'll find a way to take it from you and leave you with the bill.

I contacted the dealer River Auto and Credit Acceptance. Neither of them wanted to take responsibility for the problems with the vehicle. After several trips to the shop I stopped at the dealership to get the warranty for the motor which he would not give me. Again I called Credit Acceptance and they were very rude. I made every payment on time until the new motor blew in Sept. Then I stop making payments and I told them I wasn't going to continue making payment on a vehicle that was said to have a warranty but was not provided to me nor will the bank do anything.
I came home mid-October and the car was gone. I didn't receive any notice of them coming to get the vehicle. Late Dec. they sent me a letter stating they're selling the car at auction in Jan. In Feb. I received notice that the car didn't sell ('cause the engine is bad) at auction. On my credit report they reported that I closed my account on the day I bought the car in 2015. I explained balance would be paid if I got the money I was expecting. That money didn't come in. Today I get a call telling me if I don't come up with the rest before my next pay day, I run the risk of vehicle being shut off at box. I said, "But I only get paid once a month and I only have 4 months left to pay." I was told, "Too bad." The money or the vehicle is at risk for being shut off.

I went to a used car dealership about a year ago and got a 05 Chevy TrailBlazer. The asking price of it was 13,500 credit acceptance, financed it at 8,500 and that's Kelley Blue Book value. Set up automatic payments. The very next morning after I got the car, the check engine light came on so I brought it back and they told me to bring it across the st. so I did. I also contacted CAC to let them know. The mechanic said it was just a faulty sensor on it so I didn't have to worry about it. Well after that, the TrailBlazer stalled on me 6 different times in 1 day. I contacted CAC again about it, they said to bring it back so I did, not realizing the entire time that it was the thermostat going. So I did something a little different - I went to someone who knows what they're talking about and they did the replacement.
I had to pay 350 for a new thermostat 'cause Superior Protection said I wasn't covered. Then my buddy did a full check on the car and told me it was a lemon. So what do I do? I contacted CAC again to let them know. They did nothing for me. After having to replace the thermostat, the radiator, I wound up paying in total 5,500 and CAC did nothing - no reimbursement. After having the vehicle for 6 months, I missed 2 payments 'cause they tried to use a different name when they pulled the money out. So not recognizing the name, I told my bank that and the bank reimbursed me the money.
Now comes the fun part of it all. CAC and I were playing phone tag and in Feb 16 they send a towing and recovery truck to repo it. They never sent me anything about repoing the car. I did a full investigation on CAC and found out they were financing the 8,500 with an interest rate of 23.99 percent. Who the hell does something like a bunch of crooks? My dad was a vice-president of a stock company on Wall St. He told me 23.99 percent is illegal and inhumane. I get social security every month. They knew that now I'm fighting them like cats and dogs. CAC said to me fax over the papers that I had from the dealership. I did 3 times. They claimed they never got the faxes - they're liars and a bunch of crooks. Now I have no vehicle, my credit score dropped dramatically low and they want me to give them 5,128. I never ever in my life will do business again with CAC. Pls everyone who reads these reviews, do not do business with these people again.

Once complete and I realized my deductible had to be paid to Credit Acceptance as opposed to the Insurance Company I also paid this amount in full! Subsequently, Credit Acceptance took my perfect payment history and pay off and noted my deductible (which was NOT part of my loan agreement) and used it against me putting negative marks on my perfect credit history for not paying the deductible to them immediately!
When I attempted to have this removed or discuss they blamed the credit companies, then blamed the insurance companies and after multiple phone calls, multiple departments they simply stated this was not a Credit Acceptance error and there was nothing further to discuss. It was such a blessing to see her be able to finally get a "new" car, she was smiles all day for weeks after. It is in the contract that her payment would be automatically withdrawn from her account on the 1st of every month.
Everything is going great until Thursday night (24th of March). About 9:30 pm a tow truck (Winfield Towing) was hooking up to her car. She runs outside to see what is going on, said that they have papers to take car. Now mind you, the papers said there was a ZERO balance due. They took it to an undisclosed location and never once reported it to the police and that we would have to deal with Credit Acceptance in the morning when they open. So she called in the morning and was told that January payment was not made. Come to find out it was a mistake on their end. Said there was nothing that can be done until $558 was paid or it was going to auction on the 1st.
So over the weekend with the help of friends we came up with it and she called at 7 am Monday morning and made the payment. And then comes the kicker - it took 7 1/2 hours to finally get a release on the car and find out where it is. Come to find out we had to drive 1 1/2 hours to get her plate and belongings and pay 35 for that and make an appointment to get the car the next day which is 1 1/2 hours the other way. So to sum it up... it took us borrowing 700 in total to get her car back for their mistake only to have to pay 310 on the first. CREDIT ACCEPTANCE IS NOTHING BUT A SCAM, THEY WILL GET YOU ANY WAY POSSIBLE. I would not recommend them to anyone for any reason whatsoever!

We also had a warranty on the truck. It seemed like everything that went wrong with the truck, the warranty didn't cover it (anything).
Well when the engine blew I called Credit Acceptance and asked if I pay the 2500 dollars that it would cost to fix the engine - would they take at least half of the 2500 off the balance of the truck and I would continue to make payments as required? Well of course they told me no and I would still have to make monthly payments whether or not I was driving the car. On Dec 2, 2015 I had a fender bender going to work. It was not bad but because of the mileage on my car and cost of damage the insurance company decided to total my car. That accident was the best thing that couldn't ever happened! My payoff was $8100, my salvage cost was $1648, insurance paid $3900. CAC said I wasn't authorized to keep my car. It's not in their policy! I got a lawyer involved, as long as I'm paying notes, that is MY car! They then gave me the runaround. I had to call GAP ins and make a claim myself! CAC did not want to file the claim. GAP paid the difference yesterday, car note comes out today $364.
CAC flagged my credit at the bureau for nonpayment of $2412! GAP paid $2866.16! I stopped payment from my bank! Explain to me if I'm having notes drafted from my account like clockwork and the car is being paid off, why report me to the bureau and drop my credit score 40 points?! It's ok though! My car is fixed, I have it hidden now. It's going to be a fight to get the title! ** my credit. It was ** from the start! But what they don't have is my car! The raggedy **! You can't ** a **! I surrendered the van in 2007 to them and they sold it on 01/16/2008. I never heard anything else from them until this year. I received a 1099c. I have called them several times and told them that the date on the 1099C states that all this occurred on 01/15/2015 which is fraud. They are very rude and just tell me to see my tax preparer.
I told them I am not filing this. It has been 8 years and they have wrote it off on their taxes. The rude lady started yelling at me and when I yelled back she threatened to hang up on me. I would like to see how many people this has happened to and maybe we could start a class action lawsuit. I told them the date of occurrence on the 1099C is not correct. They have repossessed the car 4 times and each time I have had to pay over $800 to get it back! God blessed me the day my car was totaled in an accident but they are still trying to tell me that after the insurance paid them I still owe $900!
They treat you like ** and act like you know nothing! They talk down to you and always want you to borrow money from other people to be able to pay them! 99% of the time you wait on hold just for them to transfer you to someone else just so you can wait on hold again! I have had my truck through this business for over 5 years, it will be paid off this year (July). On Jan 21 2016, saying I have past due which I did through lack of hours where I work, I contacted them as soon as I received the letter, their so called customer service is a joke, rude, aggressive robots, they do not care about you as a customer period. They have had almost $20k of me over the past five years and they treat you like you're a piece of dirt. I was told to call to negotiate a new payment plan but that didn't happen. They told me how much I had to pay which was $100 per month more than the original $340.
So I pay $335 every two weeks now as I get paid fortnightly, which I have done on time THEN I receive a further letter demand of payment saying I am late?? (I was not paid on time) and this letter dated 12th Feb 2016 the past due is $2756 which is more than the $2867 on 12th Jan 2016 despite my making arranged payments of total $675.
I asked at the time for a letter stating my new payments and total of payments to make with dates due and a statement of all my payments as I have never had a statement of payments in five years, the woman said, "We don't do that"?? Well guess I know why? They just want to take it back to resell and I get stuck with $20k out of pocket and owe cash for something I don't have.
These people who you have to talk with are total dirtbags, disrespectful, aggressive, rude and do not care one jot. "STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY NO MATTER WHAT" As for customer service, it's a joke. They could not be called that by any stretch of the imagination ever. Stay away from this company or have a good lawyer. Very unhappy.

Credit Acceptance is a horrible finance company. Their customer service representatives have horrible attitudes and hold times are ridiculous. Credit Acceptance repossessed my vehicle. I paid $805.60 yesterday to get the vehicle back and still I have yet to find out where my vehicle is located. I called yesterday while at work myself and was placed on hold for several hours. When I finally got someone on the phone the only thing they could advise is that the vehicle storage facility had closed for the day and to call back tomorrow. That was yesterday and here I am today going through the same thing. I work an 8 hour job and I do not have several hours to hold on the phone especially after I have paid this company what is owed. I do not understand.
I honestly wish I would have NEVER gone with this company for my financing needs. I honestly feel like I should have never paid the 805.60 and just left this company to deal with their own vehicle. The way your customer service rep treat and talk to your customers makes me want to go ahead with the repossession and repair my credit at a later date just to never have to deal with this God awful company again. I understood that the loan we took out on my fiance's truck was a subprime loan due to a repossession that I had. Part of the agreement is that I have the payments taken out of my bank account automatically every month. We canceled the extended warranty because there were too many hoops to jump through to get any coverage. The amount was applied to the principal changing my final payment from February 2016 to January 2016. When the authorized payment of 399.90 came out on 12/26/15, I called and found out that the balance was 175.00 plus some change. No problem. Expected that to come out on the 26th of January 2016. Imagine my surprise and horror to access my bank account today and see that those crooks took out 399.90.
I called them and the snippy company representative (I will NEVER refer to these people as customer service) informed me that I never canceled the automatic deduction and that is why they took out 399.90. I told them that I only owed 175.00 and some change to which I was told, "Well you authorized 399.90". I became angry and said, "Nobody else takes out more than is owed them - up to the authorized amount" to which I was told, "We aren't anybody else". She then informed me they would audit the account and I would get a refund in about 30 business days.
I said I wanted a supervisor to which I was transferred to a senior company representative (again I refuse to say customer service). I told her that how is someone supposed to know that we have to cancel the auto pay or the usual payment would come out. I then asked why they didn't send me a letter in December to tell me that my last payment was less than authorized and I needed to call the company and stop it or adjust the amount. She said that she would make that suggestion to which I said, "You all stole money from me". I was told I would get the money back. And I said, "Yeah in 30 days" and she said, "No it takes 21-30 days".
I can't believe that this is even legal and at this point I am looking into a class action lawsuit against this company. 56 years I have been on this earth and NEVER have seen anyone take out more than what I owed up to the authorized amount. I am beyond furious with this company and suggest you look for alternate ways to finance anything you get EXCEPT for utilizing this dishonest company. The only possible way this company could not be indicted on serious fraud is by having some seriously powerful friends that they are paying a lot of money to. ABSOLUTE CRIMINALS, death threats from repo men literally hours after a missed payment, car destroyed during same interaction, rudest customer service I have ever experienced. LITERALLY EVIL INCARNATE. I would walk 10 miles each way before dealing with this company again. Must have a beacon to seek out the most despicable, deplorable people on the planet to work for them. SCUM OF THE EARTH.
This is a SHORT summary what has happened to us. I have literally been on the phone with them over a hundred times in just over a year. They were semi-understanding until the car was almost paid off. Then the amount owed never seemed to decrease. SCUM. GARBAGE. OBVIOUS KICKBACKS FOR THEM NOT TO BE IN PRISON. I started dating my fiance a couple years ago and when I had met her, her abusive ex has physically destroyed her car and insurance would not cover it. For a time all was well as we were both working full-time at good jobs. As we got closer she eventually lost her job due to a sexual harassment lawsuit she was filing and my work was naturally cutting down for the winter season (I am a painter/contractor).
After $12,000 dollars being paid on a 2003 Ford Explorer (with over 120k miles on it when she bought it) and me personally paying over $4,000 over the course of six months, we have always been told we owe $3,000 dollars. We sequestered the records and they are obviously botched and edited. The car was being repoed at a fee of $260 before the car payment was even due. They will do ANYTHING to take your car from you the closer you are to paying it. Best case scenario, you paid 15k for a car with a KBB of less than 3k 3 years after you bought it. The CEO of CAC buys a brand new jet every year. Don't even get me started on trying to speak with these people. Countless calls were made, plans set up, and if you are too close to paying it off those new payment plans go out the window. They will repo it on a plan you haven't been working with for over a year and suddenly all the "new" paperwork is lost.
You can call three times in a row and get three different minimum payments for your vehicle to not be repoed. They won't even bother with the starter disabler. They don't make money off of that when you've already bought the car three times. That's when they want to take it to auction. How this corporation is allowed to exist is literally beyond my reasoning. Absolutely disgusting in every sense of the word. It is akin to being mugged and the mugger harassing you for more money yet you have no recourse. This car was once repossessed three times in a 33-day period. I paid 600 dollars every single time yet somehow the amount we owed continued to increase and apparently we're more and more behind on payments? The most evil corporation that could possibly exist. Big tobacco has NOTHING on BIG predatory lenders.

Do not let your desperation lead you into a contract with these vultures. This Company will lock you into a hefty contract with sub-standard vehicles, dealerships and a large car note that's not even worth it. If you signed a deal with these people, try to get out of it as quickly as possible, why? Let's say there is an issue in your life that require you to make a payment a week or so after its deadline, they have no mercy. This Company will call and harass you for being a week late, never mind you being proactive in calling them to make arrangements. They will threaten to take your vehicle and cause you more financial harm.
Everybody has some kind of issues in some point in their lives where they may need a little space, not for this Company. They will crowd you, they will give you no time to settle or make professional arrangements, it's either this or that with them. My husband and I decided to purchase another vehicle so that we would have one for our kids to use. The monthly payment amount is good and affordable however because we made the payments a couple days after the due date each month CAC decided to repossess the vehicle on Jan. 4th. Is this even legal? We have never gone over 10 days after the due date and CAC reports to the credit bureaus that we are on time every single month and have been since we drove the vehicle off the lot however decided to repossess the vehicle anyway because the last 6 payments weren't made on or before the actual due date of the 26th of each month. When they picked up the vehicle my husband called them to find out what in the world was going on and they advised him that even though a payment was made every month they still had rights to repossess the vehicle.
They advised us if we wanted the vehicle returned we would need to pay the payment which had been due on Dec. 26th plus all repossession fees which totaled to $750 and change. He advised them that it was way too much money to have to pay and then have to make another payment of $356 on Jan. 26th. They told him he could pay $607 and the rest would be able to be made in payments tact on to the next 2 months. We made the $607 payment this Tuesday, Jan. 12th, when my husband received his paycheck and then made arrangements for the remainder balance and then next 2 months worth of payments with them since the repossession strapped us financially.
My husband made arrangements to pick up the vehicle this afternoon, Jan. 15th, from the company who picked it up, which is 56 miles away from our town, and lo and behold, we arrive and the towing company advised my husband the vehicle was sent to auction in Robstown because they never received the release notice from CAC. Now, my husband has been trying to get a hold of the bank and we have no idea how to get the vehicle back. CAC told my husband originally that we had until Jan. 15th to call them back and make the payment on the vehicle or else it would be sent to auction and here we are the 15th, the day of our deadline, and it was sent to auction earlier this week even after all payments and arrangements were made.
Please help, if we don't get the vehicle back and continue with the payments I know, due to all the other complaints towards them, CAC will report it as a repossession on my husband's credit and will seriously impact everything we have worked so hard to accomplish. I will never recommend this company to anyone, ever! and I'm pretty sure what they have done is completely illegal.

The rep I talked to said my pay off was 612.07. He said he would put a hold on the truck from going to auction for 2 weeks if I made the last payment. Our agreement was that I send 250.00 by Dec. 30 so I mailed that money order out a week before the 30 then send another 362.07 by the 5 of Jan and this company will release my truck back to me. So I sent that money order a week ahead of time on the 4 Jan. I knew they had payment that I promised them I would do. So I try to call all day long and no one would talk to me or call me back.
So I called the tow company to find out if they heard anything and was informed that my truck went to auction on the 24 of Dec. So now I lost my truck plus the 15.000 that I already paid them. I fell like I should have a law suit against them because I did what they asked me to get my truck back but they lied to me from the get go and never intended on letting me get my truck back. These posts are exactly what they have done to my family and I as well. I was sold the goods on an overpriced Yukon and even bought the useless warranty for two thousand more. Then the icing on the cake is the incredible interest rate I signed on too. To be a little fair, we had just been evacuated from home and business due to a raging wildfire and the truck we had at the time completely died, so we had to have something to drive and move with. Anyway we did what we had to do and have been paying 500 a month for the last two years on top of the thousand I put down. (I should be driving a new Corvette with that kind of payment). Since the fire, we have rebuilt and relocated in Utah.
Anyway we are barely almost two payments behind this month and struggling to give my family some kind of Christmas this year, when I get a letter from American Credit Corp whom is threatening to repo my Yukon on December 25 this year if I do not give them 1300 dollars. I ought to let them as I have no equity in this vehicle even though I put $5K down and have been paying 500 a month for 24 months. All of these posts sound familiar, so I feel a little better. I am not alone but, buyer beware!

Hello All Perspective Car Owners, I wanted to take the time out to share my experience with good ole Credit Acceptance. With this review I hope you take my past experience and stay away from what seems to be an easy solution. What is Credit Acceptance and is it really all that its cracked up to be! I started to use this lender when I was looking to purchase my first car. I had never heard of Credit Acceptance prior to dealing with the car dealership that I purchased my car with (which ended up being shady themselves).
Anyway, I am not going to lie when I first started using Credit Acceptance. It was great! There was a fast approval rate and the payments weren't bad at all. In order to stay current with my account I broke my payments up. Now, all of this was set up by them. However, it did not workout that way. After about a 6 months in I realized that Credit Acceptance was taking 3 payments out. The first payment consisted of bi-weekly payments and the other well I am still waiting on an answer for that.
Long story short they explained that I was behind in my payments, but if the amounts are broken up, why do I owe more? So this resulted in my taking the Autopay off. After endless back and forth with their HORRIBLE GHETTO BON QUE QUE's and Tyrone's, you know??? The kind thats only there because unemployment forced them to work but could care less about actually working! It was just a lost cause! I was transferred around and could not get any answers.
Now fast forward to present time (current battle), my original car that was under Credit Acceptance was totaled. My car insurance came to an settlement agreement with Credit Acceptance. However, when you do deals like this with Credit Acceptance they do not tell you (which they should) that when they do a settlement of course its not for the full amount, but when reported to the credit agencies it WILL go under your account as derogatory partial pay. Basically saying you're in the same boat as bankruptcy, foreclosure, those types of categories, which is worse than cc debt.
The verbiage used in this case has hinder me in so many ways! If they would have mention this to me I would have paid the full balance, but its all a learning process. My recommendation is to really see if there are other lenders available. Not only do you pay a high interest rate, but Credit Acceptance only finance high mileage cars, customer service will make up want to come through the phone, and be prepared to never have questions answer.

All I will say is to fix your credit before you have to deal with Credit Acceptance. EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional staff. I've been in customer service for over 20 years and I must say that Credit Acceptance is HORRIFIC! When you call and make arrangements they're not honored. On the 15th made an arrangement to make a payment on the 18th of September. My car was repossessed on the 17th, yep a few hours before my checked cleared. Funny thing is the repo man told me "It's in my best interest to let the car go, those people are ridiculous."
They claim they cannot help but after I paid nearly $1,000 on what was to be a $310 payment they then decide to break my payments up and in turn my payment minimum is now $390. Yeah $390, (I'm scratching my head too). Hey they will get you a car but just don't get behind at all. Overall I would not nor will I recommend them to anyone. P.S. STAY AWAY FROM DEALERS WHO OFFER CREDIT ACCEPTANCE

I am not sure if I am more upset with the terms of my loan or the quality of the vehicle I purchased. My interest rate is 24.9% which I accepted out of desperation. My credit score is low so I was willing to deal with the rate but I have spent almost $4000 the last 3 years to keep it running. PAYLESS Car Sales in South Amboy says "Bring it to us. We will fix it." I took it multiple times and they could not tell me what was wrong with the car. It took me 3 times before I passed state inspection.
I relocated to another state. I took it to a Jeep dealer this year. I have a 2007 Jeep Patriot with rust issues and a year left to pay and the dealer mechanic says in order to pass inspection, the manifold cover will need to be replaced costing $900. A mechanic I went to said "get rid of it because the frame is rusted". The remaining balance is double what it's worth. A few late payments due to repairs leaves me stuck with this vehicle. I recommend to anyone now before you enter into a contract with Credit Acceptance and companies like it, you are better off saving money and buying a used car straight out and not paying high interest on a CLUNKER!!!

My mom & Stepdad had bought a 2010 Ford edge suv. They had only had the car for maybe 3-5 days. This bank calls them harassing them about the payments telling them that they can shut the car off whenever they wanted to! But my parents had just had this car for not even a full week yet! So my mom tells them that she just had bought it, set up the payment plan for it to be auto drafted out of her account. Well shortly after that maybe a month later they call 3 days before the payment due date harassing them again telling my mom they are going to turn the car off (which they did) until they got the money, so they got the money. And finally after calling many of times they turned the car back on.
Well a few months have gone by they was doing everything right. My mom called her bank to see if the full car payment was coming out of their account bi-weekly how she had it set it up to be taken out of their checking account on every other friday. Well this place was only choosing to take half the payment once a month on a Tuesday, which isnt even the right day to take the payment out. They have no respect or care about their consumers at all!!! They couldn't even call my parents to say "hey we have seen that the full payment is not being made. Can we set up some arrangements to help you get the full payment made."
When we called them the week of thanksgiving to see why it was shut off they could not give an answer for it. We called them again on 12/1/15 to see why they came a repo the car on 12/1/15. They said she was a month behind on late payment when they was supposed to be auto drafting the full payment out of the checking account, like they was supposed bi-weekly. Then they also LIED to us, told us the auto draft paper said monthly whenever another employee who works there told us, that she sees where their paper is marked bi-weekly!
So after going off on this place demanding the car back, and telling them it was their fault because they could not do their job right, my mom now can not get to work because of their mistakes. The lady told me that my mom needed to learn to balance a checkbook better, it was her fault the payment wasn't taken out bi-weekly. When it all out in reality they COULDN'T do their job right of taking the full amount bi-weekly. I hope this company gets sued, shut down!!! They also told my parents that they could not add the 735$ on to her payment at the end, but the catch to it is that her car payment is not even 735$ is very much less than that. They was told to e-mail a copy of the paper about the auto-draft so we can see that it does say bi-weekly and they still have not e-mailed the paper.

Right after she paid it, they said it was still unsecured and could still be repoed at anytime even though several people from that office said she was fine for a month. I'm really shocked to see negative reviews from customers, because I've never had a problem since I purchased my car. I bought a fairly new used car about 8 months ago, and they financed me without needing a co-signer. Although the interest was high (hence the only 4 stars instead of 5), no other company would finance me at all due to 2 previous repos 5&6 years back from a divorce. I had them split my monthly payments biweekly so that less comes out through auto pay at one time. Which has made me a couple of payments ahead thankfully because I'm trying to work on building up my credit and repairing my negatives. If I'm not going to be able to make my payment, which was once, I simply called and they changed the payment to the day I needed. The customer services rep was polite and helpful the 1 time I needed to call them.
I do wish they had a refinance option for those of us who actually make their payments responsibly. The 18% is highway robbery since there's no chance of improving that. Kinda like the Cash Store loans, ripping you off with interest. But nonetheless I appreciate that I was able to get a car after my daughter totaled my other one and I was in dire need. So, to everyone else: if you can't make a payment, call them. They really will work with you. And if you can't afford to make payments on a vehicle, just don't get one!

They told me last payment made was in May. I told them that was correct but it was a double payment, and another double payment in March. Long story short those payments disappeared and even with bank statements nothing has been done. In July they repossessed the truck. Being down on my luck I got it back 1 day before it went to auction.
Now we are in November, my check came late. By the time I got my check cleared they were closed. My payment is due on the 28th. But because of their repo fees by their book I've never caught up and have always been 80+ days behind for over a year. Last night they repossessed my truck over 450 bucks left on the balance. I've dealt with major financial companies and never have I been treated like I have been in the past few years. Well over charged. Unfortunately for them they sent the wrong repo guy out, and now I'm going after both the repo company and Credit Acceptance. And I'll have my truck back in a few hours. These people are rude. Credit Acceptance then told us we talk $1,324 which was an absolutely a lie. They said it cost $400 to tow a vehicle two miles to the facility. Then tell if we paid 250 up front that our vehicle would not go to an auction site, that it would still sit of the repo place. Again they lied and sitting at an auction facility with almost all the money paid and said that it's going to go up for auction. And that they close at noon today so we made the rest of the payment and now the facility said "Oh" magically closed and they can't give us the address until Monday.
So we can get a vehicle back until on Monday and so that we're going to have other charges such as storage fee because they close at noon which is absolutely ridiculous. Credit Acceptance is nothing but a scamming joke. Never ever go with Credit Acceptance for a car loan. They rip you off and lie to you. You can't get an honest answer out of any of the reps there and they treat you like crap. My advice is to save your money and get a vehicle through a regular loan place or your own bank. Credit Acceptance is not here to help you. They are there to scam and lie to you. The dealer themselves were useless and once I drove off wanted nothing to do with me, but Credit Acceptance has been fine.
I've only had one instance of speaking to them over the phone and the young lady helped me with courtesy and gave me some tips along the way for future reference. I have automatic payments set-up, so there has been no reason for me to be in contact with them or vice versa. In the end, as long as you pay then you're okay. I ended up with a loan for 3800.00 that's 215.00 a month so the car doubled In price getting this loan. My 1000 down is on the paper but never came off the loan.
Now I'm down to three payments - all payments are made on time. Credit is at a+ all of a sudden the credit place calls me and says I'm late with my payment. I said "no I made my payment" she said "no you owe us 62.00 in interest." I tried to get them to explain from what and they couldn't. I paid it but now my credit dropped to a D. This company's a rip off. I still want to know where my 1000.00 went. How do I find out? Do I contact a lawyer on this? And to top things off The Cadillac converter was broke on the van when they sold it to me.

Please be mindful of the type of company you are financing with. I was 19 when I signed for a loan with Credit Acceptance. I was financed at 22% for 4 years with monthly payments of 497.54. I was fine with that because like any young child I just wanted a car that didn't break down as much as the cash car I previously owned & I also wanted a nice car. My loan was paid off July 31, 2015. The people at Credit Acceptance are so rude it's unreal. I have had so many arguments with these reps that I visioned myself showing up to the headquarters to actually see some of these people in person.
The only thing they care about is collecting payment. They don't listen when you speak. They talk over you & they talk down to you. Everyone from the staff to the managers. You have to go through 15 agents to find one that's willing to talk with some respect & help you figure out what issue you may be having. I'm so thankful to God that it is over! I'm working on my credit score so I don't have to experience this again if I need financing on another car. If I could go back in time I would never have done it. This is by far the worst financing company in life.

I lost my job so instead of them being considerate with me, they called me about 10 times a day trying to get full payment.
