It was extremely difficult for me to give this company 3 stars. However they financed me about 6 years ago, when no one else would. I have been behind, received horrific harassing and threatening phone calls in the beginning. Ones that raised my blood pressure and made me wish I had **! They never repo'd, and eventually I was helped by very good reasonable customer service people. If you think you have "bad" credit, don't be so sure.... Check your score, talk with a few MAJOR dealers, not little car lots. You may find yourself able to finance, albeit at a higher rate than the folks with credit scores of 780 and up. You'll be much happier in the long run.

My very first payment!!! They decide to take it out 3 days before due. My bank wouldn't allow them to take the money yet so a day after it was due they took the money out of my account in which I have proof. Then they say they never got the payment which is untrue and say I have to take it up with my bank and had to make another payment.

Quite a few years ago I purchased a vehicle from a lot (later found out it was janky). The lot was family owned (** family). I didn't realize they lied about my income to get me approved for the loan until I got home and looked through the paperwork a few days later. Prior to this purchase, I had no credit and no debt. My apr was set at 24.49%. I bought a vehicle that was overpriced by about 3-4000$. Once again stupid, naive me. The car blew a gasket on the freeway the same night I bought it, just my luck. The problem is Credit acceptance called me a few days after bringing the car home to get my social security number and other info to apply for the loan. Wasn't that what I was doing at the dealership? Needless to say, I tried making payments on the car and fixing it at the same time. Blown head, pinched tailpipe and no ABS on a 95 blazer. Yea, I did a voluntary repo on that piece. It went for $600 at auction. I still owe 3,000$.

I have had three cars financed and this is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I have been repossessed over a half dozen times, due to the payment being a day late, a week late, not even a month. I lost my job for seven months and still managed to keep up payments, now that I am working they have NO grace period when they want payments that have been jacked up due to repossession fees. Now I have been repossessed not because the car payment is late but the astronomical repo fees. Who can pay a car note three or four times in a row???? Then when you contact them, they want you to explain why you are late, maybe it's because you keep repossessing my vehicle for no reason!!!! One lady was so rude, "why can't you get help" she says? Why can't they give me a break especially since I have been with them for four years and on my last year??? I am seriously looking to be refinanced to be rid of them!!!

We got a vehicle from Credit Acceptance 2 years ago. Very unsatisfied with their customer service and representatives. The only good representative that they got is Valerie and she does not lie to you and she works with you. On Wednesday our vehicle got repoed for one payment behind a couple of days. Credit Acceptance then told us we talk $1,324 which was an absolutely a lie. They said it cost $400 to tow a vehicle two miles to the facility. Then tell if we paid 250 up front that our vehicle would not go to an auction site, that it would still sit of the repo place. Again they lied and sitting at an auction facility with almost all the money paid and said that it's going to go up for auction. And that they close at noon today so we made the rest of the payment and now the facility said "Oh" magically closed and they can't give us the address until Monday.
So we can get a vehicle back until on Monday and so that we're going to have other charges such as storage fee because they close at noon which is absolutely ridiculous. Credit Acceptance is nothing but a scamming joke. Never ever go with Credit Acceptance for a car loan. They rip you off and lie to you. You can't get an honest answer out of any of the reps there and they treat you like crap. My advice is to save your money and get a vehicle through a regular loan place or your own bank. Credit Acceptance is not here to help you. They are there to scam and lie to you. The owner of Credit Acceptance is worth 100s of millions of dollars and he does not care who he hurts - only cares about how many times they can buy your car at auction and make 4 times the money on it.

I have been a customer for 2 years with Credit Acceptance. I have never had a problem with them until I got behind one month and I could only make a partial payment of 180 bucks. These people gave me a hard time. I only needed a few extra days to pay the remaining balance and they were like "can you pay anything today." My response was, "if I could I wouldn't be on the phone with you right now." She was so rude and had a bad attitude. After that conversation I hope I don't have to ever call customer service again.

So after over a year of on time automated payments something goes wrong. My payment didn't go through as it always had. I didn't notice and my wife didn't notice. 4 days after it was due, I walk out of my office to find my car gone. Now I have to pay an additional $250 to get the car back. Not a phone call or letter or email or any other courtesy to find out what happened. They claim they never heard from us and the automated payment was not in the system. I never changed it nor did my wife from the day I bought the car. This place is ridiculously overpriced and they have the rudest staff I have ever dealt with. If you can avoid it do not do business with this company. They will screw you from the moment you sign until you pay it off. If I had it to do over I would prefer to walk.

I was approved for a 2007 RAV 4 at $20,000 with payments of $316 a month with a 22% interest rate. I understand that's kinda rough but with my credit at where it was at I also know beggars can't be choosers. They set up my auto payments for the 7th of each month. I called today and they said since my due date is the 27th, I have a 10 day grace period so by paying on the 7th it made me late every month with a fee of $15 each time. Needless to say, I switched my auto date to the 6th. I'm upset because that was not discussed at the time the auto draft was set up nor did I get a phone call the entire time. They said it's now in collections, but I've never missed a payment.
This company has tricks up their sleeve so all I'm saying is do your research and read the contract carefully. I recommend this company to anyone with poor credit because they will approve you but be careful because they will rob you if you don't cross your T's and dot your I's. I'm screwed now and they are not willing to help me, the lady kept repeating herself and walked around my question like she knew what was going on and didn't want me to know. They're crooks. Money hungry crooks.

Payments were way higher than it should've been to start 425, and the car was already 7 years old, hit behind in payments, of course no one was helpful yet rude, transmission went out. Long story short, I told them to pick the car up because it no longer worked. Not only did they pick the car up but they sold it at auction for 1250, and I'm still stuck paying out of my pocket for a car I haven't had in 3 years. I guess I'll fall under the minority. They approved me and my friend on March 2015 (with pretty meh credit) for a loan on a 2008 Dodge Charger R/T. The interest was of course through the roof (the typical 22%) but that's the price you pay for having sub-par credit, and I knew to expect that. The dealer themselves were useless and once I drove off wanted nothing to do with me, but Credit Acceptance has been fine.
I've only had one instance of speaking to them over the phone and the young lady helped me with courtesy and gave me some tips along the way for future reference. I have automatic payments set-up, so there has been no reason for me to be in contact with them or vice versa. In the end, as long as you pay then you're okay. They approve low-credit individuals, so you should expect VERY high interest rates, that's a given. Just be smart, make your payments and after a year or so, refinance. I read a lot of negative comments on here and I hope I never experience any of it.

I bought my car at a dealership for a little over five thousand. A month later they decided they were going to go with a outside company. Not knowing it was credit acceptance for another month (dealt with them before, hated them then) I paid on the car for a year when I wanted the payoff amount. It was two thousand more than I figured it would be.
A few weeks later after not being able to find my contract, I called them. The guy on the phone was very rude. I told him that I wanted a copy of my signed contract sent to me because something wasn't adding up. At that time I was 11 days late on payment. He started arguing with me about how I was going to pay it. I told him I had just called to get my contract. He demanded that I give up the car that day if I couldn't make the payments. I told him I wasn't turning the car in, I just wanted my contract. He was still yelling at me, that I drive the car and that I knew I would have to make payments on it and to be honest with him and turn the car in.
I then told him I wanted to speak to a supervisor. Silence on the line and then a "supervisor" picked up. I told him what had happened and he did apologize and put my contract in the mail. When I got it, the price of the car had doubled from the original price. I have three different documents about this car that all three state different prices of the original purchase price. I think I'm being ripped off. I'm trying to find an attorney to go over the paperwork/contract to see if they can charge double the purchase price. Do not go with this company! They are a rip off!!!

The car looked beautiful. 2007 Dodge Magnum. December 14, 2013 - Was given paperwork to sign and that's about how it went. Sign here, here, and here, and on our way we went. I should have never signed the papers. Went to visit family for Christmas, 400 miles away and used 6 quarts of oil. After getting back home luckily the motor didn't burn up. When I contacted dealership they came and picked car up with a tow dolly. Car was taken to their mechanic, for 3 weeks, no issues were found. Car still leaked oil so I called them again and car went back to their shop a second time - no problems found. I personally got underneath car and found that the oil pressure sending unit was leaking. It wasn't tight, one thread and fell out. I tightened up - no more leak. Now it's Sept. 2015 and I still owe $10,000 on a car only worth $4000. Watch out for these sharks, read all paperwork before signing anything, don't find yourself in a bad loan like I did.

My husband and I financed a car through Credit Acceptance back in 2013. My son was born at 25 weeks and we were four hours away from home where his hospital was. I traded in my 2007 cobalt as a down payment. Everything was fine. My son came home two months later. After a few months my husband lost his job. We tried explaining to them about the job situation. Needless to say, they repossessed our vehicle. They told us they were going to sell our vehicle at auction if we didn't come up with over $600 that day. My child being sick and no job, that isn't easy to do. We lived in WV at the time where it isn't easy to just make $600 on a whim. So we let it go and decided we would take a loss. So now, years later, we get notification of a lawsuit filed against us for the repossessed car! They took the car. They sold it. Why do they have to keep up with this? I purchased my 2007 Yukon Denali XL from Unique Auto Sales in Richmond, VA June 22, 2014. Ever since purchasing I have been through hell & back if not with the Janky Dealer then with the Lienholder. First I was told I had a 10 day Grace period & my payments were due on the 30th of the month so 10 days from there is?? Ok THANKS well that wasn't the case. Also I somehow in September of 2014 made a partial payment WHICH I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT TO COLLECT ON EITHER VIA MAIL OR IN WRITING SO MONTHS went on. Finally in May without notice my vehicle which I have been making payments on never missed a month got Repossessed. What a low blow... I didn't know what was going on.
I go the next morning call Credit Acceptance who informed me that "SOMEONE" Called them & advised them not to call. That was a lie. Who would do that & you listen as a Lienholder to collect on a debt? Ok so I had to pay $820 approx. to get my vehicle out of impound the next morning after I did that set up arrangements to have payment date changed to 3rd as I am disabled. When I got the vehicle I was disabled and he used my award letter so they knew my pay date was on the 3rd... Ok June 3 made payment, July 4th, Aug 5... Lo & behold September 5th my car got repossessed AGAIN. WHY? Well someone called them told them not to call me again. Then my payment was due on 3rd. I was told I had no grace period this time. I asked "Why not in black/white?" I never missed payment also. For around $0.40 I paid $586.75 instead of 587.17 one of those 3 months.
Again I never received a call or a letter or anything else & my car was repossessed. I asked them how was this possible if I had been making my payments never missing. They said since it wasn't on the 3rd exactly. When I advised about the contract I signed with a Grace period & I never signed anything new nor was I advised of anything new. They got smart & blew me off. My car note has gone from already high $550 to $640 for next 2 months. I cannot wait to pay this off. After Spending over $900 wow this is crazy. Never again. So, I am really glad that they have given me a chance have a car. At first, I was a little skeptical of financing through Credit Acceptance because I figured, yeah they guarantee you credit approval, but it's something ridiculous and it's something that you can't obviously afford. I was quite surprised when the dealer discussed with me the payment plan that Credit Acceptance wrote out for me. It was actually affordable and I was shocked and relieved. I honestly thought that I was going to walk out after the dealer told me the payment plan because I initially thought it was going to be outrageous. I also signed up for the auto payment option so that I can ensure that I don't miss a payment or worry about any other issues happening.
Overall, I'm fully satisfied with financing through Credit Acceptance. So I bought a car in January of 2014 from City Auto Through Credit Acceptance. My 1st Car in May Of 2014 the car broke down due to a faulty thermostat housing (which was faulty when I bought it I just had no knowledge) so moral of the story City Auto sold me a lemon. Ok so we took the car to City Auto where they looked at it and diagnosed it as blown head gaskets which would cost 2800 to fix so the warranty they sold us (the ** warranty) didn't cover ** because they said due to the thermostat housing causing the head gaskets to blow they wouldn't cover it. So we left the car at City Auto for 8 months because I wasn't paying 2800 when I clearly had a warranty. Then we get a call from Credit Acceptance saying they paid City Auto to get the car back and we owed them like $400. Here's the kicker. Credit Acceptance paid City Auto to put the motor back in and they paid the repo people to get the car now.
Here's the real kicker. City Auto never put the motor back together so yeah they paid em for nothing. So on top of that I was forced to pay $3000 to get the car fixed. Now of course I was out of a lot of money so I fell behind on my payments. I’ve talked to a few people that were nice and I talked to a few ** and **. Yeah I told them some things just to get them off my phone because they were ** and annoying but today was the last straw. The ** I talked to today I don't remember her name was very rude.
She was Loud w/ me. She cut me off while I was talking. Just a downright ** but I'll pray for her. Then the guy I talked to Mike senior representative was a downright ** as well. I bought a Nissan Altima from a credit acceptance dealer known as cross auto. First they didn't send me the information I needed to tag the car, then when I got it, it showed that there was still a lien on the car from a previous owner. It took 4 months and hiring lawyers to look into it before I was finally able to tag my car. About 2 months after I finally got it tagged, the engine was having problems. I took it to a mechanic that told me the head gasket was blown and leaking water into the engine. I continued to pay my bill as normal but unhappy with the circumstances.
A few months later I fell behind on my payment due to financial hardship. I made arrangements to catch up my payments however this didn't stop them from issuing a repo order on day 28 of being due. On day 30 they repo'ed the car and insisted that I pay tow, storage, and my normal payment plus the payment coming due the following month, to get my car back. I refused because Oklahoma state law of repossession states that a vehicle must be 90 days delinquent before repossession can take place. Yet no matter what I said they always had an answer as to why that law didn't apply in my case. I finally told them that I was fed up and to keep the car. Now they're suing me for the balance of $8,000. I'm told now the only thing I can do is pay it. Oh well. Lesson learned I guess. Just know that if you're struggling financially you can't trust big corporations. They only want to exploit the fact that you can't do anything about it.

The few times I had questions or an issue it was resolved quickly and easily with other customer service rep. I get a message before reminding of the upcoming recurring payment, and a payment confirmation afterward. The only way you're going to have issues is if you miss your payments, but that's your responsibility to make sure that you pay and the payments have gone through.

Could not turn my key to start the car. Down the line bad tires, bad brakes, etc. These cars are jacked up and they fix the minor things so they can sell them and get their pay. Don't go with Credit Acceptance. Not recommended.

Well I bought a van in Tennessee Knoxville, then same day I started having problems with it called the dealership told him. That first choice auto in Knoxville Tennessee, then not even week later. More problems started happening to the van, call again. Not his problem, then not even a month the motor blows up, who the one stuck with Bill me, and credit acceptance knew what happened! And they knew motor blow up still pushing me more and more money. Back my station I had paid out for parts and new motor and labor! Still needs more parts. Here I Been paying payments what I caught on the bill sale nothing Mac thing up and I feel I am getting rip off as well the dealership getting more money to what he already made off me when he sold me van!
I do have the reg Bill of sale. I even had hard time getting a tag when I bought, the dealership put in the wrong information for me to get a tag, top of getting pulled over saying that temporary tag was no good and the van wasn't reserved under my name. It was big mess, credit acceptance, even as far telling me if I don't give them more money, they were going repo my van. I explain to them I got three disabled people in home, I trying All I can two of them our children with seizures and even told the dealership I need van not going break down! And it did! I Been making payments! Some of them not full amount! I am trying make a payment! But they are just not working with me. I got laid off my job, I am trying give credit acceptance a payment they trying take my van away, top charges that I think too high price.
Like I said the bill sale doesn't add up different numbers for same thing top gap insurance add into credit acceptance the dealership did that, and state not too! He did plus again numbers on Bill of sale doesn't add up, it's like add more money to vulnerable of van than its worth! I could send you all a copy. Or fax to you all the repairs I did! Plus dealership said he did car fax which he never showed or show me the repairs he did like he said he did. I have proof all I done for this van.
I think that van Bill should be paid in full, and off my credit saying I am behind, which I am making payments. That what credit acceptance did to me, ask them why they didn't want to say they did it, until I brought it up. I told them they didn't need to do that for 344.23 but I call credit acceptance they say something different amount! I got the credit report through Experian credit report it said 344.23 But credit acceptance saying 555.34. So you see I am getting rip off by them and dealership I bought the van through.
Updated on 07/19/2015: Well Saturday I call them told them I had money, and they keep pushing and pushing me! Then my husband called them then change the agreement what I made with them. They pushed 70.00 by Monday and by the Aug 1 200.00. They are not working with me at all. Seems like they like going back on the word! I am getting calls from them even on Sunday! Be harassed by them! I have witnesses that can back me up on this! They even hear them yelling at me! And harassing me and husband! Credit accept becoming very rude and nasty with US! I don't think it right! To me I call it's like rudely talk to. Hey at least I am trying make a payment! And to be treated nasty on the phone! What kind company they running?

I bought a dodge Caliber in 2010. 13,000 before interest, roughly... I scheduled to make automatic withdraws every month. I scheduled to make the payments all the way until February 2015. In December of 2014 they decided to inform that I had missed a payment in December of 2013... they charged me late fees as well. I asked "why did you wait a year to tell me that I missed a payment when I have scheduled automatic withdraws?" With the horrible customer service that they have she couldn't explain to me.
I understand that is her job but she had nothing to tell me other than what I had to pay going forward. I wasn't hostile towards her. I made arrangements to make a payment in January of 2015 and something for February and March. They took the payment in January. They didn't take a payment in February or March... In July of 2015 they confiscated my car. When I called to resolve the issue... the young lady did her job but without any customer service. So besides their outrageous reasons for taking the car, customer service was really the people who set me off.

I can't understand why people give this company a bad reputation when they were the ones that messed up their credit before taking on a car loan. I can admit that my credit was terrible as a result of some bad decisions I had made earlier in my life. I needed a car for my job but I had $300 for a downpayment and terrible credit so I called around and found a used car dealership that would work with me. I got a car that was within my budget which is the first thing people don't do which I don't know why they blame Credit Acceptance when all they are doing is giving you a loan.
Secondly, I signed up for automatic payments to make sure I made my payments on time. How do you expect a company to trust you if you have a terrible history of making payments on time or at all, hence, the low credit score. After I got my loan, I read the reviews and was afraid these situations would occur to me but it never did. I made my payments on time, did everything I was told and took care of the car. Yes, I paid a ridiculous amount of interest but that's my fault for not taking care of my credit. Overall the company is decent. Some downsides are the interest rates and not being able to refinance the loan. Yes, you heard me right; this company will not let you refinance the loan

Several years later after never missing a single payment, being late, or even paying less than she owed this company thought that when she updated her account info after we switched banks that it was her way of authorizing them to take the payment from BOTH accounts. Common sense would dictate otherwise. Rather than refund the amount they took the hardline told her that "there's nothing we can do."
Now that we owe the bank overdraft fees because we had the account at zero (we switched remember) we have come to the agreement that because of this incident we will NEVER do business with credit acceptance again. I sincerely hope it was worth TRYING to double charge us CA. I really do, because you just lost a loyal, steady, and pay on time all the time customer. This company was by far the best credit company I've ever worked with. The rates were not THAT overwhelming since my credit was in shreds after 3 divorces over 30 years. There was a tiny misunderstanding on the due date of first payment but it was from the dealership not CAC. CAC worked with me to get the error ironed out and no other problems. The website was super easy to make payments on. And when I needed a live person, everyone was great. I'm now trying to find a nicer truck and so far have not found a dealer who uses CAC.
Plus, I had hoped for lower rates. No luck yet. I'm thinking about getting a list of their customers and see if any has a vehicle we like!! I'd just like to say they were great to me when No one wanted to give me credit... and I was a good investment to them. Never late a day and paid it off early. Bought a truck in 2012. Due to previous bad credit, had to have it financed through Credit Acceptance @ 23% interest. Set up weekly payments and made them for 24 straight months never late!! So I basically paid an extra car payment every year. Went through a job change and went a month or so with no income. So I stopped the weekly payments. Took it upon myself to call Credit Acceptance and explain the situation and asked if I had a balance due on my account and so on. Talked to a guy who was very polite and said I had nothing due until the following month. 1 week later they start calling me nonstop. I answered and the rudest women I've ever encountered started telling me I owed $900 plus late fees and that I was behind 2 months. I tried to explain to her this is not correct. I just talked to someone from her company 1 week ago and was told I was current.
After 10 -15 minutes with this rude ignorant woman trying to have Her look into this, She didn't care at all. She kept saying was "how are you going to pay today?" over and over. We finally had it out and She hung up on me. The next morning I go out to go to work and the truck won't start so I yanked out their stupid ignition kill, threw it in the garbage and went to work. 2 or 3 days later I wake up on Sunday morning to find my truck missing. These scumbags had come and repossessed it. So here I am on a Sunday, Credit Acceptance is closed and I have no truck that I'm current on.
Called them Monday morning and was sent to the repo dept. or whatever it's called and explained the situation to an actual normal Human being who said this didn't look right and She would call me back. She called me back later that morning while I was at work and started to apologize and say this was a mistake. We're sorry and they would bring my truck back that day. Truck was returned later that afternoon. These people are nothing but crooks and the people they hire to make calls to their customers are not only ignorant but they are the rudest unprofessional people I've ever talked to.

I explain I traded the vehicle in a few days earlier and this rude disrespectful Woman starts harping on me about where I traded it in, who I was dealing with, what is the phone number of the dealer. She then proceeds to tell me how am I going to make a payment today because it's still my responsibility and I need to pay it. I can't believe how rude I was treated esp for a person who has made 30 straight payments and never been late. I told her I would contact the dealer and try to find when they would receive the payoff.
She then informed me, well threatened me that these collection calls would not stop until they got their money. And She wasn't kidding. 7 days a week from morning until night they would call until they got the payoff from the dealership. These people are disgusting human beings. The CEO of this place should be investigated. They are nothing but legalized loan sharks. Intimidating, threatening phone calls, the rudest customer service ever. My payments were $440.78 and my finance charge was $4245.17.
First of all the vehicle should have been classified as a lemon. Upon purchase, 2/12/2011, the mileage stated 122,375. While on the way home with my purchase, the tires blew out. I was unable to contact the dealership because they were closed by then. I had roadside assistance and paid a tow truck because of how far out I was. Therefore in addition to the $4500.00 that I had just dropped, on 2/13/2011 I was out of $ 608.00 for a full set of tires.
On 5/13/2011 the brakes stopped working and the vehicle was placed in the shop at 129,564 requiring $ 974.24 in service in which I was out of an additional $100.00 for an extended warranty that was purchased. At 131,137 miles, the motor died and had to be replaced costing $3846.05 and I had to pay $399.37. None of this money was reimbursed or credited. I was mislead and beat out of money on the purchase of this lemon. Also, I feel that with the vehicle costing $12,945.25 and my sales price being escalated to $21,690.42, only reporting that my highest balance on my credit report is unfair and illegal.

Driving the vehicle home I noticed clunking coming from the back end whenever I stepped on the brakes. The closer I got to home the more I had to pump the brakes to stop. I called the dealership I bought the car from and had to bring the car back in to have the brakes and rotors replaced, even though there was an inspection sticker on the car for the same month of purchase. After the repair there was still loud clunking from the back end and I brought it back again and they told me they could find nothing wrong with it.
Then after driving during a rainstorm I found the whole floor of the car soaking wet. After numerous issues with a car that wasn't worth 1/4 of what I paid for it, such as lurching forward when stopped at a stop light, I finally called and asked Credit Acceptance if I could just turn the car in voluntarily as I felt it was a death trap and would not put my daughter in it another day. They said it would affect my credit rating, but the loan would be wiped clean. They came and got the car 2 days later.
The next thing I know I have a judgement filed against me for $4800.00 even though they have the car, and they garnished my wages. They even went as far as trying to take a certificate of deposit in my daughter's name as an infant settlement suit with myself as guardian. If you're financing a vehicle through Credit Acceptance, your credit must be the worst of the worst. I was in that boat. The guy at the dealership told me he hates using them because they charge enormous acquisition fees but they finance deals that nobody else will. Your choice of vehicles will be very limited when you finance through them and most likely you will get stuck with a lemon.
I got a 2004 Dodge Neon with 108,000 miles. I was desperate and it was all I could get. They will only finance extended warranties through Winn Plus, probably because they are getting a kickback from Winn by only financing their warranties. Winn Plus will cover nothing. My air conditioner went out and I was denied coverage because they claimed it was from rust. It was nothing but a little surface rust and had nothing to do with the AC going out. Now I am stuck with a car with no air conditioner and 25 more payments. I plan to trade this piece of junk in as soon as my credit is better and I am no longer upside down. I purchased a car in December 2014 from a dealership in St Louis. I have terrible credit due to divorce and they got me financed through Credit Acceptance Corp. I did not get any information provided to me by the dealership regarding this loan such as loan amount, due date, etc. I had to look up the company online (after asking for 3 weeks to get it from the dealership. They did not give me my new car paperwork until almost a month after I bought it. Anyway, I called CAC 3 days before my payment was due and I asked them about payments such as how could I pay them, will I get a payment book, etc. They were very nice and very helpful. They walked me through their online payment site and also sent me a payment book in case I wanted to just mail my payments in.
As it turns out, this car is a total lemon and since January, I have replaced the transmission, oil pan, water pump, timing belt, struts and strut mounts and now have found out it has severe electrical issues. Anyway, when called CAC regarding my 2nd payment, I asked if I could split my payment up due to high repair costs of this car. They were very helpful and asked ME when I could make the payment and they also said that with communication and the fact that I was would be under 30 days late, it would not affect my good credit that I was building.
I made both payments as agreed upon and then made my regular monthly payment again on the due date. I have checked my credit report and they have reported it as a good payment. I really have had no issues with them. My issues are with the car dealership that sold the car. I hope this helps someone to see that if you do as you are supposed to and be proactive in your communication, they will work with you. But it's up to you to keep your part of the agreement.

Contact Credit Acceptance, advised them that I would me combining both March and April payment as it was past due and May was approaching. Due to cut in my hours and trying to sell home things were hectic. Was told no problem. I checked my mail daily, never got one letter of threat to take car. Never got any letters since 2014 when I purchased car. I get home late that night and wake up to the company All Hooked Up which by the way I did not find out who they were till days later.. dragging my car off my lot. I came out and asked what was going on. They flash a piece of paper my name was no where on it and say the bank said take it. I said I have no letters here advising me the car was in repo status and I was told I could wire in the morning by Moneygram the amount due 548 dollars. I get my things from my car and I ask again "who are you?" They say "we can't tell you"??
So off goes my car with tags and other proper to could not grab. I go into a panic because I felt the car was now stolen. I contact the company and get as always a hostile African American woman with an attitude. Explain to her what happen, she confirms the car was repoed. I explain I have never gotten anything from them, nothing and need paperwork for if nothing else MVA! Conversation goes from 0-100 as I'm trying to talk all she keeps yelling is "borrow the money or when you gonna pay it". They try and stick me with a 1,489 bill! Why? I only owed a little over 500. I finally get a man by the name of ** who understands and lowers it to the amount it should be.. But wait my car has been moved to an auction for sale!!
My credit is screwed. I can't find the car. Now all my bills are behind because I can't get to work and still no car that I have had for 15 months with just 2 late payments! I'm reading others issues and wondering really you took my car and people are 7 months behind!! Never do business with this company!! If I ever get the car back I will try hard to switch companies. This is a nightmare. I'm in shock to think they did this to me and my family! It was petty as hell! They know people are trying and they know when people are not. I clearly was trying to hold on to this old vehicle that for what I was paying I could have gotten a better car and a decent finance. This was embarrassing and humiliating to me.

The interest rate I was given was 25.5 percent, I was told I could not get advertised price for the car because the lender set the price. I ended up defaulting the loan because the motor went out in the car 10 months after purchase. After judgement I ended up paying 23,000 dollars for a car in the salvage yard.

She was late on one payment by one day and they repossessed the car and had it on the Auction Block the next day, even though we had paid them the amount due over the phone the night before. Also, they told her, her payment was now due on the 13th even though her contract said, "the 20th." They then charged her late fees. I am writing this on her behalf as I am the one who paid the repossession fees and made three or four payments and put the money down for the car for her. Whenever we phoned them to discuss making a payment, picking up the car after repossession, or about future payments we were treated with disrespect. They spoke to us in a condescending manner. I will tell everyone I know not to go through Credit Acceptance due to the way she was treated when she phoned them and the way things were handled.

We had gotten a loan through them for a car last August and we made EVERY payment on time in full. We just traded it back in for a newer vehicle since we had what you call a revolving loan through the dealership. The dealership is paying the rest of our loan through CAC since we got a new loan through a bank. One day after we did not make our payment since the vehicle is no longer in our possession they started calling, so I spoke with TWO different people about the fact that their check from the dealership is on the way and they still didn't care and treated me like absolute **! They wanted me to pay on it still and said it was going into collections if I didn't pay. I told them to send a repo truck here because it wasn't here and that I know how collections works and that they can't report it for 30 days so I wasn't threatened nor was I going to pay and to be removed from the call list.
They both said that if they didn't receive the check in the mail by the end of the week that they would contact us again and we would have no choice but to pay. Instead of listening to me or accepting the fact that in their own systems it said that a pay off was on the way they treated me like I was stupid and didn't understand and that I was lying or being a crook. I am so glad to be done with this loan and I hope to god they teach their employees to be better understanding instead of belittling **.

I got a loan from CAC in 2013. Two weeks ago I traded that vehicle in and made arrangements for the dealer to pay off the vehicle. During the course of this transaction the salesman called CAC and after several conversations between CAC and the salesman and I, terms were agreed upon. Three days ago I received a call from CAC stating my payment was overdue. I explained to the representative that the vehicle had been traded and she asked for the number of the dealer and put me on hold. About 5 minutes later she came back on the line and stated that the dealership had never heard of me.
The following day I spoke with the finance manager and he said that no one had called (to the best of his knowledge), but he gave me his card and told me to give them his name the next time they contacted me. Wednesday morning they called again and I gave them his name and DIRECT number. Today is Thursday and they called again. I told them that I was no longer in possession of the vehicle and that their people needed to get their ducks in a row before they started harassing people. Hoping that this is over and they don't put a ding on my credit.

If the 90 days expired and the balance was not paid in full there would be an interest rate of 24% applied. I am fine with this and agreed to this except for the fact that they do not add the interest as an accrual, they add it to the total balance of the beginning balance all at once. My initial purchase was around $800 total. Now since I missed the last payment before the 90 days is up, I now owe an additional $725.00. Keep in mind I only had a remaining balance of $150 at the 90 day mark. Our income was SSDI which is not very much, they always worked with us. We needed the truck to get back and forth to doctor's office visits and chemo for my husband. Well could not afford to make payments no more. They agreed to 200.00 a month or 50.00 a week. Got our tax check and I caught up the payments. Was current, I called them to get back on the 200.00 a month and they said they could not do that. So I made the payments anyway which left us with very little money for gas and very little money for food. Well my husband died and I can not afford the amount of the payment. I was 7 months past due, I stayed in contact with them, they always asked me where the vehicle was. (Ya think I am Stupid.)
Well anyway they said if I could make a payment they would make payment arrangements with me. Well I made a payment and they said I had to wait 24 hours to call back and make pay arrangement. I called them the next day, and they lied to me. They wanted my whole past due amount. Well needless to say I cannot afford the whole past due amount. I am really upset, this vehicle is the only thing I have left. And they worked with us all those months of late payments and now they won't work with me.. It was a 24,000.00 loan on a 10,000.00 dollar vehicle, and I have paid 14000.00 on it. Then there was the paper work issue. I mailed the needed paper work up to get everything taken care of before making the payment and they told me on several occasions that they would work with me on the payments, then when I called them back they said they needed the whole past due amount. REALLY... They point blank lied to me about it.

I called C.A. Corp, explained my situation that I was on workmans compensation and that at the time I was being paid on a bi weekly basis. The representative was somewhat sympathetic to my situation but ultimately stated that contractually I was still obligated to fulfill my financial obligation for the auto that I had purchased. I stated again that I would gladly continue to make payments but if they could lower my interest rate just until I could return to work since my youngest son had to use the auto to transport me to and from my various medical visits I would gladly catch up as my health improved and allowed me to return to work.
It was stated to me "Sir do the best you can or we'll be forced to remotely shut the car off." I was threatened on a monthly basis that they would remotely disable the auto. Already suffering from Hypertension. This merely added to my stress level month after month until finally 12 months into my rehab process I called C.A. Corp and ask them was there a location that my son could bring the car along with both sets of keys to a bank and or dealership. Suddenly I was called sir and their negative and arrogant attitude slowly began to be concerned about why I wished to drop this auto off and cease my business dealings with them.
I explained that I would do without rather than deal with their crap. Not to mention, I had never bought a car before and had no clue what I should have been looking for (and I now realize how the salesman used that to his advantage).
I have NEVER been more than 30 days late on a payment...Even when I was going through a rough period and had to split my payments up (which the customer service man I spoke to at that time was very helpful and understanding) they were NEVER 30 days late and I had already had the car loan for 2 years without a single late payment. But yet somehow that apparently warranted phone calls EVERY single day, harassing me about late fees. Anytime I would call to ask a question about something, I couldn't even speak to someone without them being RUDE and demanding a date in which I would pay the late fees...How can you treat good paying customers this way?!
To top it off -- once the car is paid off in December of this year I will have paid them TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS for a car that was $9,000.00 -- even though in my paperwork it shows an interest rate of 24%. Let's do the math on that -- 24% of 9k is $2160.00 -- where the hell is the other 8k going?? GREAT QUESTION! It is absolutely DISGUSTING to me that this is legal. I have not worked at CAC for a few years now. I worked for this company for over 5 yrs and did not like how things were done. Customers were just a number and not a human being. Their hardships did not matter. I was a top collector when working in front end collections due to I treat people how I would want to be treated. Our calls would be recorded and I would get in trouble for calling my customers hun, dear, sweetheart etc... I was being too personal with the customers. I was top collector for that reason. I have a heart and knew what it was like to have hard times.
If I noticed a customer had been talked to the day before and could not pay at that time I would hold the account out of the call system for 5 days. Calling a person asking for money they do not have at the time of the first call is not going to change in one day. I got promoted to back end collections (redemption department). I would get so mad at some of the repo companies because of the amount charged for people to get their belongings. There was a lady who was 80+ yrs old who had her car repoed and wanted her bible that she has had for over 20 yrs out of the car. The repo company wanted 65.00 just to get a bible out of the car. They would not work with me to knock the price down just so she could get her bible back. In the end I did a payment over the phone with my own money to the repo man so she could have her bible back. I of course got wrote up for having a big heart.
I once again got a promotion to the legal department. When working in that department I had access to a customer’s full contract. Before I would work my accounts I would read over their contract so I could see what I'm working with. I got in trouble because I started questioning the under writer dept as to why a person was approved for a loan they could not afford in the first place, that is going to cause a person to fail before they even start. Exp - an older lady on a very fixed income $6???, rent 250.00 a mo, utility 100.00 a mo, food 150 a mo, car note $3?? a mo (over her limit for the mo). There were other accounts that way. I had to call the local police to find out that my car was repossessed. I was never notified that my car note was in default, never received any calls or anything in the mail. I even asked for verification of my phone number on file and for numbers that they would call from and I looked through my call log (while on the phone) and NONE of the numbers were there. My note was setup for automatic payments and since my account was in a perpetual negative state and my bank statements always showed multiple transaction fees from CAC.
The company that took my car told me that I had to pay $50 to get my property and plates back and then the CAC representative told them I needed to pay $631 to get my car out of the auction lot. The rep I talked to was very nice and gave me an extension to pay $250 by this Thursday and to pay the remaining balance by the 27th. But, when I asked her about the fees taken from my bank account (which I totaled up were over $1,525.00 all together) she then told me they had no money and my last payment was in November, which is complete bull and the bank was taking the money. So I call the bank and they tell me that they have no money or record of fees taken from me. So someone, most likely CAC, is stealing my money.
Being 8 months pregnant with no credit, this company was my only choice to get a new car. I wish I would have done my research but now I am going to have to pull this $250 out of my ** and try to figure out how to pay my remaining balance as well as the weekly payments. They charge you double of what the car is worth 20/percent so my car was 16.000.00 and that has double so I am paying 29.000.00 on a 2011 and these payments are hell. It should be a law that stops this kind of **. I will be contacting Elizabeth Warren on this, and congress but you know there might be a few congressmen with their hand in the cookie jar so I am stuck paying on a car that was not really worth it. But these car dealers get you caught up for 5/6 years and they are selling car and finding these bad ass loan companies.

I am very upset, please don't deal with Credit Acceptance. I purchased a car from a bad dealership that after looking them up, have several complaints against them and I'm not sure why Credit Acceptance would deal with someone with a bad name. I purchased the car on November 8, 2014, I went 28 days later to find out that the car wasn't in the dealership's name by the DMV. They told me that I couldn't drive the car, I couldn't insure it and if I got pulled over in the car that I could go to jail for not having proper registration. So I contact the dealership and got a line of crap about they had switched owners. I called Credit Acceptance and they were great at first. They tried to get the dealership to produce title and they didn't so they voided the contract with me and said that they would send the payment that I had made on the car back to me with a letter stating that I didn't owe anything on the car with them.
So we waited and told the dealership to come get the car, we didn't want anything to do with this illegal activity. Well we get the letter, but do you believe they send the check that I made to them back to the dealer with...Why, dealership didn't make payment and the agreement wasn't between them and the dealer it was between me and them. Now I have to try to get a check that has my name on it away from the dealer.

I received a loan from CA. The car was $12,000. I put down $5,000, thinking this would lower my loan to $8,000 or $9000. I doubled my monthly payment to pay off the car loan early because I was grateful a bank would give me a loan with my bad credit. However, when I inquired about the balance of my loan, I was horrified to find out they added 6,000 to my loan as a finance fee. Now I have a balance of $14,080 to repay. This is the balance after doubling my payments. I cannot understand why a bank has to take advantage of people who are trying to redeem themselves. Is this legal? I don't have $5000 to give away. I will be talking to a lawyer. I cannot except this robbery. I am sure they will be part of a class action lawsuit in the future.

I paid off a loan with this company 2 years ago. I go to get another car and find out that they have not reported to the credit bureaus. I called several times and they keep insisting that I need to dispute it with the credit bureaus. CAC insists that they reported it correctly. How on earth did ALL THREE credit bureaus miss this company's reports. They had their legal team review it, and Their response was that again, they have reported it correctly. I am SO tired of getting the runaround, but I know that all 3 major credit bureaus did not miss the same account. Furthermore, there is no way to initiate a dispute for an account that is not even on the report, and I am getting NOWHERE with CAC.
I spent all these years making payments for NOTHING! When I went to get another car, it was as if I had absolutely NO auto payment history. It didn't do ANYTHING for my credit. I will change this post when they correct the issue. If you still see this post, posted JANUARY 18, 2015, then CAC has still been too sorry to correct their mistake.

Where do I start? Now if you pay your car note on-time as agreed in the contract you shouldn't have any problems. I've never had a problem with this company until today - maybe a few rude customer service rep's here and there, but I've never missed a payment and I thought my loan was paid off during the holidays but I guess I was wrong. Now let's be honest with ourselves before we bad mouth this company, if you have a loan with Credit Acceptance that means you've really messed up in the past and couldn't receive a loan from a good company with low interest rates. This company offer loans at extremely high interest rates but if you were in my shoes and had no other choice and needed a vehicle, it was a blessing. I knew I had to pay my loan on-time for a year in order to have it refinanced.
Well this past Christmas, my bank approved my loan and refinanced my vehicle. Credit Acceptance received the payoff check 2 days late, now I know business is business, my payoff was good until the 26th and they claim they received it on the 29th, not to mention the company was closed for two day during the holidays and they refuse to accept my payoff.
I called on the 29th to verify that they received my check, I was told by the rep that my check was received, my auto payments has been canceled, and it will take 30 days to clear my account and release my title. At that point I thought Credit Acceptance was a pretty good company for 2nd chance auto loans UNTIL TODAY. I pulled my credit report, I have a 30-day late payment and I still have an outstanding balance of $18,000. I thought I could feel smoke coming out of my ears. I didn't want to believe the reviews I've read in the past, I couldn't believe I've become a victim of the foolishness Credit Acceptance pull on people.
When I call today to resolve my issues, the rep was extremely nice and understanding and tried to do the best she could. I ask to be transferred to a manager and let's just say I got the GHETTO manager from hell, the ones that like to talk over you and tell a bunch of lies just to get you off the phone. Now my check wasn't applied to my account as a payoff, interest has accrued and my new payoff balance is $336.00. The company refuse to waive any fees, penalties, or interest.
After going back and forth with the manager from hell I was told my account was sent to the payoff department for review, she also recommended that I go to MoneyGram and spend extra sending my final payment in and my title would be released in 7 to 10 business days. I request my account number from her so I can have the payment processed and be done with Credit Acceptance. I was given my account number by the manager, for some reason I didn't believe she was giving me the correct account number so I read the number back to her THREE times each time - she said with an attitude that was the correct number.
Something told me to call back to verify my account with another rep this time I got an **. I explained my situation with him, of course he didn't care. I asked him to verify my account number and my gut feeling was correct, the GHETTO MANAGER FROM HELL gave me the wrong account number after I verified my number with her THREE times. The ** also told me my account would take 30 days to clear so once again I was given incorrect information.
I felt very uneasy with the information I've been given by THREE reps within 20 mins that worked for the same company, so I call AGAIN. This was my 4th time calling Credit Acceptance today to get the correct information about my account. God must knew I was going through hell with this company. I was almost in tears, I couldn't believe I was being treated this way - they were robbing me right by my eyes and it was nothing I could do about it.
Now mind you I didn't mention any of the reps names but I have to give praises when they're due. Ms. Joyce (**) was beyond calm, sweet, nice, very informative. She listened to me without over talking me, she had patience, and understood my frustration. She seemed very knowledgeable and experienced of her job unlike the manager. She explained why it would take 30 days for my account to clear, she also stated that I shouldn't expect for my account to clear within 7 to 10 business days. She told me where I can have my payment process for less than what MoneyGram would charge, she gave me my exact payoff amount and she explained why my account still reflected a balance. I felt relieved after speaking to Ms. Joyce.
Today has been the worst experience with Credit Acceptance - some staff are rude, the managers don't have a clue, the interest rates are beyond high and after today experience, they refuse to let you out of your loan. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DEALING WITH THIS COMPANY.

Well needless to say they would call at least 5 to 7 times a day wanting their payment after I even told them what was going on. In Dec of 2014 I decided to purchase a different vehicle and trade this one in and so I personally contacted credit acceptance and so did the car lot for the pay off and they would be paying it off.
Our payment was due Dec 8, 2014 and we ended up purchasing the new vehicle on the 10th of Dec. Well they keep calling me telling me I am responsible to make the payments until the car lot pays them off and I have contacted the car dealer about this and they say they have contacted them and it takes a little bit of time for them to get the pay off and don't worry about it.
Today I received an email alert that my credit score got hit because credit acceptance submitted a detail that I was now 30 day delinquent in paying my account and that is a lie due to car lot submitted the payoff to them and even if not my payment isn't due till Jan 8th and it has not been 30 days so I am so mad, I just don't know what to do at this point. Hello. My goal is to write a FAIR review of my experience with Credit Acceptance. It's long. But anyone contemplating writing negative reviews, I wish you would read. I am 27 years old and I have absolutely horrible credit. Who do I blame? ME. Irresponsible choices I have made in the past got me where I am. No one made me do it. I just did.
I went KIA of Somerset KY two years ago with a credit score of 500 and a job making $500 a week and in all honesty no hope left inside of me that I would leave that day with a vehicle I could afford or even a vehicle at all. But I did. A bank called Credit acceptance was willing to work with me. After a couple hours of negotiations I got my monthly payments and interest to an amount I could actually afford (don't just accept it because they will give it to you, if you cant make THOSE payments for that long then LEAVE) and when they accepted I left that night with a SUV that I fell in love with at first sight. After getting it checked out by another company for defects I gladly signed all papers. I was shocked. Even though I KNOW in my head now that I will NOT make avoidable decisions now and default on my contract when I had chance not to... They didn't know this and I thank them a million times over for letting me prove to them this is true.
Now, like all humans, I fell into a DARK period of life. My significant other has lost his job and made things INCREDIBLY hard. I became late on my payment, an entire month to be exact. My first mistake: I only called them once. I put it off a couple weeks thinking I could pay it. I was going to pay in full on Monday. But I didn't call them and tell them that. Guess what? On Saturday around 7 pm a tow truck pulls up and takes my car. The sadness that took over my body seeing that take place is not explainable. I was very courteous to the repo men... After all they are doing their job. I defaulted, not them. The bank wouldn't have taken it otherwise now would they?
I had to wait all weekend long in wonderment as to what was next. I turned to all these reviews, which had me scared **. On Monday morning (payday) I called right when they opened to see what I had to pay. Just like every other time I was talked to with respect and the representative even sympathized with me (something I hate, I don't want pity for my own mistakes). I owed my past due amount plus $270.00 for repossession fee and tow fee. I accept that. They could after all, make it much worse on me and be going by state law.
I was taking everything I had made that week to pay this. Not even $20 left to get by on. The representative released my vehicle and let me keep $100 because in her words "I still need to be able to live". I know what some are thinking.. if you only have $20 left to get by on you can not afford to have a loan in the first place. Reminder... Just a couple weeks ago I had a savings account with emergency car payments and electricity bills tucked away but that runs out and I don't care who you are... Bad things like unemployment can happen to the best of you. My vehicle was released with no more $ required. The vehicle recovery company told me that since I was respectful to their men and because I communicated the entire time they would leave my truck local instead of taking it two hours away to their lot and they would not charge me for my belongings.
MY POINT HERE IS THIS. Guys... we suck! Our credit is CRAP and this company knew that and still gave us that one last chance we always dreamed of. Those high interest rates, WE KNEW THAT WHEN WE SIGNED (unless you are a ** and didn't listen and read). Those terms and conditions are ALL RIGHT THERE ON PAPER FOR US TO READ. WE DIDN'T HAVE TO AGREE TO THEM!!! So why be so surprised when they come take what is ultimately theirs? Think about it for just a second. Don't pay that electricity bill, they turn it off. Don't pay water, they turn it off. Don't pay cell phone and they will turn it off. Don't pay for a vehicle worth thousands of dollars that you are CONTRACTED to, they take it! Simple as that. Why be so damn angry?
Anyways, if a Credit Acceptance employee reads this, know this, I understand the chance you took on my bad name. I want to thank you from the deepest depths of my soul for risking it with me. I will give it my damnest to not let you down guys. I want to be responsible for my actions and if it takes you coming to get YOUR truck, let it be.
TO EVERYONE ELSE... stop being so sour. Accept what you have did with your life and stop making excuses. It doesn't matter how many kids you have or who is sick and unemployed. Those lights will go off if you don't pay the electric bill and Credit Acceptance will take THEIR car if you don't pay. Show some respect and own up to your mistakes and communicate with them every step of the way and they just might make it a tad bit easier for you. DON'T EXPECT IT, just hope for it. They aren't required you know. Thanks guys.

I called the company and explained that I had started a new job and it would be 3 weeks until I could make the next payment. 8 days later a tow truck arrived at my home to tow the car away. I was not told a court date and did not have a chance to plead my case.
In 2010, they contacted my company and garnished my wages. My company would only allow a garnishment for 6 months at a time as per the law. C.A. would wait another 5-6 months before they would file again, allowing the interest and penalties to add up. All told, I wound up paying almost $5000 to get this cleared up. It was finally paid off in March 2013. On Dec. 3rd 2014, I applied for a loan at my credit union. The judgment for $2800 is still showing on my credit report as not being paid. NO warning not even a phone call or correspondence to ask for payment. My finance amount was 11,000, I paid 1,800.00 down and I have paid 58 payments (at least 2 times the loan amount). There has to be something that can be done about these people.

I currently have had a loan with credit acceptance since July 2012. My credit was at a 541 credit score. I seen a pearl white 2006 cadillac dts luxury 2. The car had 97,000 miles. I fell in love with it remembering that in 2000 I had a 96 white Cadillac Deville. The car was selling for $9999. Credit Acceptance was the only company that accepted me. They ask how much would I put down. I said $2000, they came back and said $3500, I said I only have $3100, any more I will take my risk at auction. They gladly accepted this. They came back a few hours later and said I need a co signer. I just then realized my dreams were crushed.
Around this time was a horrible year I broke up with my son's mother, she took the kids & our 2007 Impala. So then I scrambled for co signers, my friend Steven had a 611 score, he knew I always work 7 days a week and very frugal with my money. So he decided to do it. In Sept 12, I took him on a cruise to show my appreciation (keep in mind he was going through a divorce at that time). They made me get the warranty with Wynn which was $2900, they made me get a pro-tek plan which covered cost of oil changes, rotations, wiper, key replacement. At that time the dealership seen the final stages of approval going through, they give a 3 day 300mile bring back.
I found out the car was leaking oil after taking it home. The bottom part of engine needed to be replaced -- a $4100 job. I knew the warranty would cover this (I literally didn't bring car back knowing it was leaking oil, BIG RISK). After a month later, I called my maintenance company, told them I lost the key, they said tow to its dealer. I said I will cover that cost. I made appointment at dealer for key replacement which waived my cost for diagnostic. So Massey Cadillac called Wynn to have the work paid. Them suckers really paid $4100 for me. All Good!! Now the car is perfect with 147000 miles. I make sure to put in synthetic oil every 7000 miles, always 93 gasoline.
My loan with credit Acceptance is $16980 @24%, My balance now is $7236. My payments are $347.00 monthly. This comes out of my account automatically. I make sure not to spend on **!! Be responsible, my friend is a co signer!!!! My friend has thanked me cause now his score is a 700, he got a FHA home with pool in our state FL. My score is now a 680. I want to settle this loan out.

I am not even sure if the extended warranty that was added on will cover anything at this point. Now 4 days later this Credit Acceptance Corp is calling my home. I have been paying for a '03 Altima since 2012. The car has given mechanical issues off and on the entire time. I recently found out that I have an upside down in the loan which means I am paying more than the car is worth. I have paid over $7,000. I have basically been charged 5X more than the car is worth. I don't know what type of laws or government would approve of this type of business! Anyway last night they repossessed the car for $671.00! After all the money I paid which is already more than the car is worth! I lost all that money and now have no car and I had a little over a year left of payments!
I RECOMMEND THAT YOU NEVER EVER DO BUSINESS WITH CREDIT ACCEPTANCE CORPORATION UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES! You Will lose your money and car and the law protects them, DON'T DO IT! Also the car dealer I got the car from and that deals with credit acceptance were just as crooked! They didn't answer calls! The cars did not work properly! And they changed their phone number! Hi, I would like to start by saying I have never been treated so bad by a collection agency and or company in my life. I have anxiety and I must say after the collection phone call I received this am from Susan and Monica. I think I'm about to have a panic attack. Yes I have an outstanding loan with Credit Acceptance due to me co-signing with someone who has not been making the agreed upon payments that I was not aware of. Prior to their call, I called yesterday (10/06/14) to check on the status of the account - well this am 10/07/14. Susan was so very rude and disrespectful. I asked to speak with a Manager or Supervisor. Well, Monica didn't make it any better. She was pre-advised from Susan about what I wanted to speak to her about which Susan had no damn Idea of what I wanted to say or what I was going to say. So Monica gets on the line already with a defense to back Susan up. Yes I get I have an outstanding balance that will continue to be collected.
I previously explained that I would give them a call back on Friday (10/10/14) to let them know what I was going to do or how much of a payment I was going to send. I spoke with Monica thinking she would get on the line and say “Ms. **, I am so sorry. We got off on the wrong foot today. But how can/may I help you?” Oh no, no. She infused the situation and began to make matters worse. I told her Susan was very rude and very impolite. She continued to say they are in collections and not customer service. I explained to the both of them - I didn't answer my phone to get caught up in a boxing match via the phone lines. I explained that I was well aware of the situation with the account and I have made arrangements to take some steps in handling that. But what I wanted to know is why no one addressed my issue starting with Susan being so very rude?
Monica then explained to me that they are not Customer Service - they are Collections, and I advised her I would call them back on Friday. I asked her what was the address to their complaint dept. She advised me to go online. I am looking for someone to call me back so that we can address this matter or I will keep complaining. They both were just plain out RUDE.

My experience has been pretty much bad the whole loan. Inconsistencies abound. One day you are told one thing then the next it changes with a drop of a dime. I know other people that have had dealings with them and have heard nothing really good about them. Be very careful cause if you are making weekly payments because that works out easier for you then cool but even when you payments are more than the monthly payment amount they will shut off your car if you are even a little bit past due. Basically don't take the chance. It's not worth the headaches. Avoid at all costs!

When calling CAC back they then stated that I was past due 1600. How can I go from not owing anything to owing 1600 in a matter of 20 min....? Not to mention all my belongings that were in the vehicle are now 3 hours away from me.
When asked how I am supposed to get them the representative stated "that's your problem". This place is a JOKE. I need to be able to help my daughter and son get a car when the time comes so a local dealership financed me through this company. I have to keep the loan for two years so that it is reporting on my credit before I pay it off. I'm almost at the two-year mark and I couldn't be happier. There have been months where I paid ahead and there have been some summer months where I have been a day to a week late. These Customer Service Reps start calling you ONE day after the due date. They don't call once. They called 5 times on Sunday, 10 times on Monday, 6 times on Tuesday. I'm not even late enough to get the late charge yet! That's harassment.
I could understand if I was in default on the loan, or I'm a few months behind. That would be a risk! This is not the case. I'm talking they harass you within a day and before the week is up and you have a late charge. It is few and far between that I've been late and it's never been over a week. My advice is to not use this company because of the way they treat you like you are a criminal and are going to default on your loan even though you aren't. You can't tell them they are harassing you either - it gets ugly. They are trained like you defaulted on a college loan. Terrible!

I've read a lot of complaints about CAC. I can't believe how many of you are complaining. 1st of all, you set payment arrangements up before you signed the agreement. You didn't like the arrangements, you shouldn't of signed. Before you signed the contract, I'm sure all of you were told how much the interest rate would be before you signed. If you did not agree to the interest rate, you should of never had signed the contract.
What were you thinking about when you bought a car with a high interest rate? You didn't like the payments or high interest rate loans as a last resort, you shouldn't of tried looking for a car in the first place. Where else would you have gone?? Those of you who have to go through a high interest company to get a car probably had bad book keeping skills in the 1st place. Yes I do also know that now in these days, a lot of people are having to go this way because things do happen in life and creditors send you to collection agencies with a snap of their fingers, oh how I know this one and I feel very sorry for those of you. But you would of been able to have negotiated payment arrangements before you saw them towing your car away. You do not wait until the last second when you have a problem. You call them up and tell them what is going on. Most creditors are willing to work with you, but not at the last moment when it’s too late.
The only thing I've found wrong this company is their customer service. More than not, I have dealt with some pretty rude people there, but I've also have had very nice experiences too. I've been very sick and my husband is the only one who can work for our family of 3. We've been able to make timely payments on our pickup that we financed over a year ago. We were so happy that we were able to get someone to take up a loan with us. Our credit is PROBABLY LIKE THE REST OF THE PEOPLE COMPLAINING ON HERE.
Recently, we've ran into financial problems trying to make payments on our loan. We didn't have insurance for 2 years and me being sick with chronic pancreatitus and a 2 1/2 week stay in the hospital caused lots of medical bills. We called them and told them what was going on and that the creditors had gone as far as they could. You know what that means. We asked them if there was anything that we could work out with them to keep our account current and they worked with us!!! I don't think many banks would do that for you. We are trying to get our footing after the blows we've been through, but we're glad that CAC is able to help us with our loan and with our credit score. Thanks CAC!!!

We called them to let them know they can take the car back because we could not afford to make payments and keep the car. They took the car and sold the car for more money than we bought it for. MY husband had filed for bankruptcy and it was done June 2014 and they waited until that bankruptcy was done to start to garnish the checks. NOW 5 years later, we don't make a lot money. We live paycheck to paycheck and have 4 kids to take care of. MY mother who had a car, brand new car from a legit dealer Ford, could not keep the new car she just had just bought, they never bothered with her again after they took the car.
This credit acceptance, they spend years and years trying to get you to pay for a car that it's not even worth the money anymore. People go thru hardships and sometimes you are honest to say cannot afford it. But come one years later trying to get you to pay for a car you paid $5000 and now trying to get $11000 from us. I will only say this company is out of hand due to the over whelming interests rates they charge on loans to people who they approve that have credit problems. My credit score was good but The Car Store Dealership in Laurel Deleware took my info and in 3 to 5 min. called me back. After I gave the Sales Manager my info to get a loan, he said it was approved then through Credit acceptance inc. I was even more than honest to the Sales manager and let him know due to injuries I received prior to purchasing the truck which I did sell the truck to this dealership 10 days prior to getting it back, which they would only give me $3800.00 for it due to they claim it had a lot of mechanical repairs it needed and it did have some ding dents in it.
But the mechanical issues I had a lot of doubts on and I have an email by the service deet at that dealership proving my doubts were correct and they charge me $7900.00 to get it back which as I said I was seriously injured and I do have problems comprehending things I read and he knew that and when I realized it after signing that sales agreement and went home over the next few days I realized I was taken on buying it back because I was told as I said a lot of mechanical repairs were made and there was not. As I stated Credit Acceptance Inc. approved the loan for the $7900.00 and with their interest rate it came to over $12000.00 for that loan which is robbery.
As I said my credit score was good but I was put into a loan for a credit risk. I believe Credit Acceptance and dealerships work together on taking advantage of customers and they need to be stopped and put out of business permanently when they put these burdens on people as they do. I have been trying since almost after the day I got my truck back to do whatever it takes to get bureaus and county offices to do something but none of them will move on it in the state of Deleware and where Credit Acceptance is and has its corporate office in Michigan but I won't stop till I know they have been stopped. Also I agree with Stephanie of Eastampton, NJ.a class action Law suit needs to be put in action on Credit Acceptance and I will follow her on that if she wants.

Credit Acceptance has been a low-class, hassle creditor from the start. They never sent me a single letter of correspondence that even acknowledged my loan from the start. I had to call several times before a payment book was sent. On holidays or long weekends, when my payment was a day or two past the due date (most give a 10-day grace period), I was bombarded by calls from various call centers asking about payment. I am now trying to pay off my balance but when I enter my info, I get transferred to a recording that says - goodbye - and hangs up. Regardless if I call during their business hours. What kind of lender acts this way?? I just want out of this loan!!!

I gave him my personal information and a pre-approval letter came from the computer. I ask Mr. Bharaj how I was pre-approved for the vehicle without my credit being pulled. On July 2013, I had purchased a Scion tC 2006 and my lender for my car is Credit Acceptance... One thing I must say about their corporation is that they are unprofessional and rude people. They have no customer service skills at all or compassion at all. There have been a couple of times that I had to pay my car late but because I was in the hospital and was out of work for a while or had to pay other bills that were due. The person that attended me over the phone had a attitude at first and then felt sorry which was pathetic to me... The interest rate for my car to me I find it too much to be 24%... If I can change with another lender company, I would be happy because dealing with these people is a nightmare. So if anyone can help with this would highly appreciate it so much.

We once sent in a payment, and when they didn't get it on time, they called the next day wondering where the payment was. ONE DAY and already calling and harassing him. He was forced to get a warranty for $1774 (which NEVER got used). The truck was $9995 and we put down 4 grand as a down payment. Total in paying for everything - $16,455. They gave me the amount I would have to bring in, $1600.00. The day before the car was to be released to me, Credit Acceptance picked it up and said we had abandoned the car. I told them that we were not allowed to pick it up until the 30 days and we had the money to do so. They said if we wanted our car back, we would have to pay $1800.00 plus $30.00 to get our belongings in the car released to us plus a $200.00 tow fee. We wanted our car and did not want anything to affect our credit so we paid. We got our car back that day, February 21, 2014, and now here we are in March, I get a call at work saying we owe another $733.05 for fees I was never told about. They are threatening to repo our car if we do not pay them. We have never been late on a payment and I couldn't understand where all the new repo fees were coming from. I had a hard time understanding the CSR; she had a very strong accent. She was rude and would not explain the fees to me. As much as I care about my credit, I think I'd rather have them take the car. August 20th, 2013, I traded in my 2010 Dodge Charger at Sabets Auto Sales in East Providence, RI for a 2010 Nissan Maxima financed by Credit Acceptance. Shortly after Sabets Auto Sales closed down very suddenly, taking with them my $940.00 I had given to register the car. So I was out $940 and left with a car I couldn't register since the title was missing. After 7 months of going back and forth with the bond company for Sabets Auto & Credit Acceptance on 03/19/14 at 2:14pm, I spoke to Pamela ** from the legal dept. at Credit Acceptance Corporation who proceeds to tell me I'm no longer responsible for paying the loan I have with them in these exact terms "My loan with Credit Acceptance has been 'written off' because of all the 'legalities' with the dealer and the issue with the car title and that I am no longer held responsible for the loan in the amount of $19,000"...
Even though she's telling me I don't have to pay, I was curious as to why the amount was $19,000 and all my paperwork says $14,000 as my balance and without hesitation she goes on to say the following: "It's the original amount of the vehicle minus the trade in value $5,500 minus the payments you've made toward the loan plus interest, but this isn't something you will have to worry about any longer." She tells me that Melody ** also from the legal department will be sending me a "Draft Letter" in the mail explaining I have not obligation towards this loan.
Same day at 2:56pm I call Kevin who is at the Dealer's License & Registration office at the DMV (Kevin was the person the helped me file the initial claim against Sabets). I contact him to inform that I just spoke with Pamela at Credit Acceptance and that I am no longer liable or obligated to the loan on the vehicle and that I needed his help on steps to finally getting this car registered/ Kevin then proceeds to tell me that just that morning someone dropped off the title for my car. After months of no one having a clue where it was, it magically appears, so I give Kevin the phone numbers and extensions to both Pamela ** and Melody ** So they can give him the same information they just gave about not being liable/having no obligation toward the loan.
03/20/14 1:09pm I speak with Melody telling me they found the title and they have made some changes as of today. Melody has the audacity to offer me 3 months of free car payments and pretty much pretend nothing ever happened! They were very much willing to close out my loan, wash their hands and leave me stranded with a car I could have potentially never been able to register and would have been worthless being that the title was missing for months since the crooks at the dealer picked up and left doe one moment to another. But as soon as the title popped up, she wants to pretend like these recorded conversations with me and Pamela never took place, as if all the notes aren't in my account, as if my letter excepting me from this loan was never mentioned.

If your car is garbage it isn't the fault of credit acceptance, it is the dealer you bought your car from!! How is it credit acceptances fault if your car breaks and needs work? Are they mechanics? No, they are lenders and they loan money for your car. If you don't pay it gets repossessed that is how it works. Pay bills = no threatening phone calls! She said that she would get the info and call back. I never heard nothing back in 10 days. So I called them back and they told me that they have done called a repo company and I would have to pay all the fees for that, but still would not give me a payoff. That night they drag the car out of my drive damaging the car. I was pissed and called them the next morning. And they told me they were not responsible for the damages. And if I wanted the car back, I would have to pay 15 days late note and the following month too, plus repo fee which was another 300 dollars. So that was right at a 1000 dollars to get it back plus about 700 in damages. I had payed two years almost. I was furious with this **.
So I said they would have to come up with the damages to be fixed and I would pay the car off, and they said they would call me back and give me payoff. So I waited 10 days and then I called them and they said they sold the car at an action and I still owed them 7250, cause the car didn't bring but 1200. Due to bad credit, my husband and I had to use Credit Acceptance Corp when purchasing a used Impala. As we expected, it was high interest - 17% - but I guess that's the price you pay for bad credit. After paying on time for a year, we tried to refinance with our dealership, but had no luck as our credit hadn't improved enough and we owed more than the car was worth (because of the high interest). We kept the car, paid on time every month and saved up until we had enough to pay it off 6 months early.
We then went to the dealership with a paid off car and a sizable down payment for a new car. Sadly, our credit was still being dragged down by old issues, so we still weren't candidates for traditional financing. We asked to work with CAC since we had had a good experience with them. We were approved, but still at 17%. We were a bit disappointed because we hoped CAC would have given us at least an interest point or two off since we have a clean record with them.
We're now paying off our second car with them and have had no problems. Again, because of the high interest rate, we are upside down on this car. We're grateful to CAC for giving us loans when we had no other option but we're working hard to improve our credit score so we can use a lender with a better interest rate for our next vehicle purchase!

I have had a great experience with CAC. I think most of the problem stems from the fact that most of the complaints are from bottom feeders who refuse to pay bills on time. The reason you needed CAC was because YOU OBVIOUSLY CAN'T PAY YOUR BILLS ON TIME OR AT ALL. You go into this deal with the knowledge the interest rate is high, you are a high risk buyer. If you buy a crappy car, it's not their fault you didn't spend the hour and $89 to have a mechanic do an independent inspection. All used car and even new ones are Caveat Emptor. What I see here about CAC has nothing to do with CAC. I am glad that after my wife and I had to declare a medical bankruptcy due to her contracting MRSA from a hospital and an unsuccessful malpractice suit and the Million dollar+ in bills, CAC was kind enough to give us a chance to rebuild our credit.
