I should have walked out before I made a purchase -- MY BIGGEST MISTAKE. I went here because a decade ago I bought my contacts here and always had good experiences. I was in need of a new prescription before cataract surgery. I did not want to spend a great deal since these glasses would be used for a month or two maximum.
The male clerk rushed me and did not care what my opinion was. I was a bit distraught at the time due to the optometrist telling me how badly my cataract was impeding my eyesight. I purchased the glasses. When I picked them up they did not fit properly and the clerk told me to buy corn blister pads at Walmart. Today I went back after cataract surgery, wanting them to remove a lens at the least and hopefully put in a clear lens to get me until my next cataract/lens implantation.
The clerk and Manager refused. I had to explain what I wanted 3 times and she still did not get it, she kept looking at her computer like it would give her an answer. It reminded me of the car dealers pegging you as an easy sale. The best they could do is send my glasses away for 2 weeks which of course would not work. They had clear lenses in stock. I went to Eyeglass World and in an hour had just what I needed at a minimal price. I will not walk into an America's Best EVER again and I advise all of you to stay away. As, I was leaving I heard another client upset that his order was not correct because of something not written on his chart but they did not seem to care or rectify it.

The experience was just fine. I got my eye exam just fine, I got good service and everything. I paid for the product, I told them when I ordered my glasses, I want a pair of sunglasses and I want one pair of glasses with no glare protection (I hate glare protection, and there's a reason for it). No scratch protection (for me it does no good as I take good care of my glasses, and the ways I end up scratching my glasses it doesn't help anyways) and I don't care about thick lenses because I've been wearing glasses since I was 5, when glasses came in thick bulky lenses so I'm used to thick lenses as is.
When I went to get my glasses they had them off to the side and tried to charge me more, which I stated I paid for them in full when I ordered them so there shouldn't be a problem. Well I came home, put the glasses on and didn't notice the difference until I compared my old glasses (which didn't have glare protection put on or any other special stuff put on them) to my new glasses. My old glasses are only a year and a half old, my new glasses are brand new. I know the difference between glare protection and non-glare protection. With my prescription and glare protection it doesn't offer much other than shifting the glare off to the side which irritates me when I'm looking at a light. I'd rather view the glare head on than to see a 'bubble' of light off to the side.
I will be calling them on Monday, asking them how much I 'owe' on the glasses, then informing them about my discovery on what they did to my 'normal' pair of glasses. This does not please me and I am very upset that they used a thinner plastic and put glare protection on my glasses. They tried to charge me for something I didn't want and they also put this garbage on glasses I need to use all the time.
When I'm inside a house and I look directly at a light, there will be a bubble off to the side. If you have a strong prescription that will end up with heavy plastic, even heavy glass, glare protection causes that light off to the side. If you grew up without glare protection and have glare protection on your glasses this ends up messing with your eyes and can cause migraines. These glasses have essentially become a hazard for me.

I got 2 pair of bifocals a few months ago from the Annapolis, MD store. Everything went smooth… Paid extra for the progressive. Really I don't understand all the negative reviews… Maybe I haven't wore glasses long enough to understand. I did have the frame come apart yesterday (screw came out). I went back to the store today and they fixed them for me in a few minutes. Great people and great service.

I brought in an eye prescription so I could get new glasses. The store was clean and neat, service was prompt and the staff was very nice. I picked out my frames for two sets of glasses and ordered what I wanted. Both sets were for bifocals with transition coating. I was called about 10 days later to pick up my glasses. I picked up the glasses and went home. I read a lot using a kindle. I found that I was getting headaches after reading. I looked at the glasses as I viewed the kindle and realized that they looked as if the transition coating was inconsistent appearing tie dyed. This was present in both sets of glasses. I went back to the store and they said they would have the glasses reworked. I kept one pair to used while the other was being fixed. I returned the one set of glasses three times and the other twice. The same problem was present each time the glasses were returned.
I decided to get a refund and go back to my regular vision practitioner to get, another although more expensive, pair of glasses. The refund I was given was about $150.00 less than what I paid for the glasses. I returned home and found my original purchase slip and returned to the store to get my full amount refunded. The problem with the glass was with the lab that the glasses were sent out to. I spent 4 months running back and forth for the glasses and never got a good working set of glasses. My husband’s comment was that you get what you pay for.

I had a physician order an Xray and a Cat Scan on me to see what the cause was. The physician suggested trying my old prescription for a few days to see if my new glasses were the cause. Come to find out, the headaches were coming from my new glasses. The prescription is wrong. After speaking to someone at America's Best, I was told that I could only get a refund within 30 days. Headaches for 2.5 weeks + getting a doctor's appointment + scheduling an Xray + scheduling a Cat Scan took over 30 days because of insurance approval. So, I was exposed to radiation to get the medical test done for NO reason.

Landstown Commons store, Va. Beach, Virginia - First of all, let me start by saying that there is NOTHING BEST about America's Best. I had originally gone there for the current special which was 2 pairs of bifocals for $99.00. My visit started with an eye exam and then I had to pick out frames. After some discussion and explanation it finally ended up costing me approx. $250.00 instead of the $99. I had no problem with this and the glasses were ordered. I had to wait 10 days for the glasses to come in and when they did, they were not correct. I could not see through the top or bottom of the bifocals. After finally getting a manager to help, she said that she would send one pair out to have them reworked. After another week the pair of glasses came in and the manager called me saying that they were still wrong and she would give me a refund for my troubles.
I went to the store and the receptionist told me to sit down at the counter and someone would be with me. Well then she ended up coming over and attempting to help me by digging out the one pair of glasses that had not been sent out to the lab and wanted me to put them on. I informed her that I could not see through that pair and those weren't the pair that was sent to the lab for rework. She then told me that I would need to talk to a manager. Another lady came up to the counter and asked if I was being helped and before I could say anything the rude receptionist says to me, "I told you that a manager would be right with you". I replied to the receptionist that this lady was the one who asked ME the question and how would I know if she was a manager or not.
After a few quiet minutes a real manager came over and wanted to know what the problem was. As I attempted to explain things to her, she went into the computer to finally read the notes. They gave me the refund and wanted to reorder the glasses. After what I had been through with these people I decided not to let them reorder because if they couldn't get them right the first 2 times, what is the chance of getting them right a 3rd time plus having to wait another 10 days. I will just go to Pearl Vision, or someone else who knows what they are doing and order glasses. They never did show me the reworked pair that supposedly came back wrong. This happened to me and it is just my opinion that if you want good customer service along with a good product, go somewhere else.

When I called to make appts. I asked to review my insurance info and tell me exactly what my wife and my exams would cost. They did and told me I have a $20 co-pay for each exam. We went and they took $25 off of each $79 exam, quoting fitting fees. Our insurance pays separate for those. So we ended up paying $54 each and when we asked them to explain, they couldn't and said either we pay it, or we get no contacts. They have very deceptive advertising practices. Then we were given a trial pair of contacts and was told to come back after 1 week, have our eyes checked with the contacts in and possibly incur more charges. The doctor wasn't there and the fill in was a retired eye doctor.

Stopped in at the Daytona Beach location on 8/18/17 to inquire on replacing my plastic frames which were damaged and inserting my lenses. Was told by a half interested person at the counter the cost would be $59.95. Six months earlier I had paid $69.95 for an exam and two pairs of glasses. I would strongly recommend to friends and associates through Facebook and our area newsletter stay clear of America's Best.

The reason I am writing this review is because upon reading through several other discouraging reviews on this site I haven't seen many for NC State and I've had an experience at the store in Fayetteville N.C. since July 13, 2017. Made an appointment, went to this place noticed right away there were a lot of desk attendees on staff that day but not a lot of customers. Was treated courteous but they were not overly friendly which is fine but kind of suspect as in, if a new place really wants your business they are usually very friendly and accommodating. This place was not. I was taken into a room and given a chart exam by a "desk clerk" with no clear identification on her, I mean, I'm sure she stated her name but I wasn't sure if she was even qualified to administer an exam to me. First red flag!
Secondly, was taken to wait in this locations only on staff doctor's exam room and when he came in it was so clear he was incompetent. Not only was he low key rude, he actually spooled off to me how much better glasses would be in lieu of contact lenses which I stated pretty clearly from the start was ALL I wished to receive at this time. When I repeated this he was clearly affected and actually insulted me saying that it was obvious that I had not been taking care of my eyes. This was a rude thing to say but I agreed to take "better care" in the future. Who says this in first meeting though? Anyway, his attitude after this quickly went downhill as he gave me an exam for my fitting and concluded that there were no trials matching my needs in stock that day. He actually told me he would give me "something" close to my prescription meaning, not my exact prescription but close no cigar? Second red flag!
He actually gave me a pair of trial contact lenses that were so off they gave me a headache and made me feel dizzy and nauseous! Of course I called the next day and was told by staff that my prescription lenses would be ordered in the contact lens brand I indicated and that I would be called when they arrived. However, a full week later I called to check and was told that indeed they had come in that I wasn't contacted due to oversight on their end. Less than 24 hours of wearing the new lenses I knew something was wrong and called them on a Monday to let them know. I was told to come in to discuss my options with the Doctor as the desk clerk informed me that I would need readers to supplement my prescription because it sounds like I have a presbyopic condition according to her assessment.
Keep in mind she never identified as an "eye doctor" optician or optometrist but she told me I needed reading glasses due to my age and age related condition she assumed I have. Third red flag! and I should've ran the other way after this but I wanted to see so I agreed to come in a third time. For the second time I spoke to on staff doctor who was a bit friendlier than on first meeting but who did not have a clue about my situation with the lenses I was given or any clear idea of what to do after I told him my prescription was clearly off. His incompetence forced me to ask for a trial pair of my old prescription and upon inserting these fresh lenses I noticed a marked improvement in my vision, no readers needed. I feel that the overall visit was a waste of money and time. I would never recommend this place to anyone. If you are considering going to America's Best please RUN!!!

I went to AB for an eye exam bcoz the commercial said free exam with 2 pairs of glasses deal. I made an appointment which was easy to get for the next day. When I arrived I was pleasantly greeted and quickly seen. They explained everything thoroughly. I was helped by everyone available, all friendly, all knowledgeable. The price was $99 for 2 pairs of bifocals, the $45 exam was free. Not sure why I read so many complaints about the price. The deal was explained and no problems.
It increased in price depending on what you purchase. The deal was exactly what I got for the exact price quoted. Everyone was so awesome, I stayed chatting for awhile with them all. It was fun, and I enjoyed my time spend there. I do not have insurance and I felt the price was the best around. The wait for glasses could be shorter but it just gives me something to look forward to. I can't wait to go back, it was a very friendly welcoming store. Hixson Tennessee you are the BEST! Thank you!

I paid nearly $600 for 2 pairs of glasses with "high quality" lenses (recommended by salesperson). I was very careful in taking steps to protect my glasses, but it was useless. Within a couple of months the lenses were extremely scratched, and cloudy. I have contacted customer service by phone and email, but received NO reply! Worst customer service I have ever encountered. One of my frames broke, and when I went to the store for repairs I was left sitting in a chair waiting for an 1/2 hour! I will never use this company again, and always encourage folks I know to go elsewhere for glasses. I paid $600 for garbage products and services!

I had been to America's Best 2 years ago to get my son's eye exam done as well as the advertised two for $69.99 glasses. I walked out paying over $200 but he was satisfied with them so I didn't think anything of it even though I had to go back like four times because they would get loose on him. I just back now and his prescription remained the same and we bought the two glasses, which again ended up being 189.50, way over the two for $69.99 advertised special they talk about. I chose the additional vision field test and was told my son had to go back and get it redone because they noticed defects on it. I went back and they did it again, at no extra cost this time, but when the doctor or whatever he was came to speak to me, it seemed like it was a bother.
He didn't introduce himself so I have no clue what his name is and he continued to tell me that I need to take my son to an ophthalmologist to have him further tested because of the defects in his peripheral vision. He didn't explain more so I asked him what that meant and instead of sitting with me and explaining, he said it could be glaucoma, a brain tumor or a neurological problem! From a field test, how can you stand there and say this to a parent!!! No bedside manner, no manners at all!!! If you don't know specifically what the issue is, just send me to a real doctor as I have already made an appointment with. He continued to tell me that it was in his record also from two years back! So why is it that I wasn't told anything about any visual defects back then!!!
These people do not know what they are doing and after this unprofessional experience, I will never go back there again! Another thing, I am a Cuban-American and I am all for people working but the two girls who have performed the tests couldn't even speak English and all they kept speaking to my son was Spanish, which he barely understands. To top it off, the "doctor" didn't even bother to ask if my son takes any medication because he would've known that he takes medication for ADHD which can cause visual problems! This place has left me with a bad taste in my mouth and if my son had this problem two years back and they knew, why am I finding out about it now!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR BUSINESS HERE, they're horrible!!!

America's Best should be America's Worse. I was so excited when I saw a commercial. I called and made an appointment. I was so excited that I shared the info with my daughters and friends at work who needed new glasses. I had an appt at 11 am and was there at 10:50. The line to sign in took me over to 11:09. It was crowded which I took as a good sign that business is good. I waited for over an hour and finally got up and asked them when was my turn. I was after the next 2 people. They seriously overbooked.
I go into the screening room and the lady gives me a form to sign that was for $15. She didn't ask if I wanted that service but just said sign. I signed. On the first machine I was told to put my chin up to it. I stopped and said "it's wet!" The lady said "it's just alcohol." I waited on her to clean it and I guess she was waiting on me to put my chin in that. I finally said, "May I have a towel to wipe it off?" thinking she would surely wipe it off. She didn't. I had to wipe it myself. So on to the next machine, it has the same problem and we went through the same conversation again. I ended up wiping it also. It looked like sweat. She called it alcohol. If it was alcohol she only knew that, and did a terrible job of disinfecting the machines. I wait another hour and finally get to go in to the exam room. The doctor was very nice! No issues with him at all.
I finish the exam and proceed to go get the 2 pair for $69.99. it turned out that they were $319 for both pair. I could not get the "special" if I was using insurance. What a rip off! After going back and forth with the lady on why were the prices so much different than advertised, I got up and said "please give me my prescription." I paid the $15 for the form that I had to sign and the $10 for my insurance part and walked out and went to Walmart where I got my glasses for $42 for the lens and frames with my insurance.
I normally do all my reviews before trying a new company, I forgot to do it earlier and was in a hurry to make it to my appt on time and did not get to do it until an hour into my waiting on them to call my name. I regret that I didn't check the reviews first. I waited well over a month before writing this because I did not want to review them in my anger. I wanted to be fair and honest. I was so angry and I am still upset that I wasted my precious Saturday morning on America's Best! I gave them 1star because I couldn't go lower. I will never get those 2 hours back and I will not recommend anyone to that place. I will save them the frustration.
I wish I could get my money back--every penny of it. What a waste of time! Finally, the doctor had told me that I could make an appointment to come back in for another free service that was another part of my current appointment. But after all of this that I went through, my answer is no thank you! I will pass on that free service.

When I called back to get my contacts prescription so I could get my contacts elsewhere, I was told that they couldn't do that because I hadn't come back to have my contacts checked. I explained my trials were never ordered and the person told me that he didn't think that was the case. He then told me I would have to come back for another exam because it had been too long (only 9 months). So he would only send the eyeglasses prescription. Now I have no contacts prescription. I just picked up my two pairs of glasses for $69. I am not able to see/read the computer screen with them. I was told on my examination last week that all I need are reading glasses. I thought instead of buying the $5.00 ones from Walmart or Walgreens, I should invest in a proper pair for the protection of my sight. I am very disappointed. Yes, I can see to read print on paper... but if I look up at the computer I have to lean in to see the printed word on the screen. Also, I was told I have to return to the office in two weeks to get my glasses' cases. Really! I had an overall good experience the day I went for my exam and to pick out my glasses. I was a bit surprised that you do not in fact get two pair of glasses for $69.95. Their ad sure reads that way but until they are involved in a class action lawsuit that's how they will keep hooking people. Anyway, that aside I left the store satisfied with my experience and purchase.
Today I went to pick the glasses up. One pair fits fine and needed little adjustment. The other pair however, the ones I like best, are not fitting correctly. The tech quickly adjusted them and basically rushed me off. The store was not busy, she was just eager to get back to gossiping with a co-worker! I really wanted a case for my new glasses so I walked over to the display and picked one myself. No one acknowledged that I may want to purchase any merchandise at this point.
Once I had a case I liked, I went over to the tech who was still gossiping and told her the glasses still feel loose and I want to purchase this case. So, she took the glasses while her co-worker rang me out. When she brought them back to me, she had bent the arms so far down that the glasses actually dug sideways into my cheek! She actually looked at me and had the nerve to ask if that was better. I said to her "Um... No." So she bent them back and I tried again. Even though they are exactly the same as before, I didn't dare ask her to further adjust then. To top it off they are sitting crooked now on my face! I will be returning tomorrow in hopes that nicer people are working, and I'll be asking for a copy of my prescription. I am reluctant to try my luck with them in the future.

I will never ever deal with America's Best again, ever. I am a diabetic who was going to an eye specialist, had my exam done in December 2016. End of January this year I went to America's Best which they socked me with another full eye exam for dilation on top of just needing the contact exam. So in the process through it all, no one helps you with anything, I picked frames out and dealt with a lady. Before leaving the America's Best in Exeter, PA I had to pay $298 dollars for the eye/contact exam and glasses. I was told that it was ran through my vision insurance, on top of that I got a trial pair of contacts to try. Well was having issues with them so called and then I was told that they had the right trial pair of contacts. So ran over which is only 10 minutes away from my job. Well you get confused when you don't know what actual contact you're really to be using.
So then I tried them, wore them to work and had the same issue with my right eye. So didn't use them. So this happened 2 to 3 times. I'd call back to get another trial pair because I could only wear them on the weekends. I was told if the issue happens again to call back. So this is up to May 2017 now. I called because I wore them to work, my eye got red and irritated, and swollen, called and got in, went in to see the doctor, all to be told that "everything looked fine. I'm not sure what it is. I'll give you a script for eye drops to do for 7 days 4x a day" and that I needed to go back to my eye specialist to figure out what was wrong. So I called my vision insurance and found a doctor that is about 30 minutes away from my house. Here to come to find out I have eye allergies along with dry eye. Simple for all the issues I was having.
Good thing I found someone that knows what they are doing, found the right contact, right eye drops to help with dry eye and drops to help with my eye allergies. I also found out that my glasses I got through America's Best is a little different than what they gave me but the new doc wasn't worried but if I wanted to get new glasses I could since hey I was eligible for a full eye exam, contact exam, and new glasses again plus contacts. But it was ran through my insurance. Does that make any sense? So today I called the 800 number and spoke to a woman that again wasn't understanding nothing I was saying. She had me pissed. I deserve some respect when I'm explaining everything and the fact that the store and the person I spoke with today never ever listened to a word I said is beyond belief.
You could of offered something back to me but to say nothing was noted on my account from all the stuff I called about the times I was in. And to tell me well it's past 30 days for a refund, let me tell you something it was nonstop for 4 months with America's Best then switched to a new eye specialist that could actually help me. So because I paid $298 dollars to America's Best with no help then paid another $105 at the new doc, what does that tell you I'm out money I spent. I will never ever ever deal with America's Best. You're a lying third party that just wants money and know nothing as to what you are doing. The customers you do have should open their eyes and find better for their sake. Not only were we treated poorly and had to wait while the employees gossiped, we found there was an upcharge to everything. The 2 for 69.99 deal ended up costing twice as much and we still did not have the anti-glare coating. That was another 75.00. I would never go there again nor would I recommend them to anyone.

I have gone to the same eye care provider for the past 8 years. I wasn't happy with the last couple of visits and decided to try a new place. I searched and found that America's Best had recently opened a new store in my area, so I set up an appointment. From the moment I walked in, the service was outstanding! I was very pleased with the entire visit. They were very professional, and even took the time to be sure that I got the best deal, even though I have insurance, Taylor ran my options several different ways, making sure that I got the best deal for my money! I would highly recommend them to anyone that needs glasses, contacts, or both. They have a customer for life with me!!! Thank you to everyone in the Crowne Plaza store, located in Knoxville, TN. I could not be happier with my contacts and glasses.

Today (6/8/2017), I had a customer service experience in store #5193 which left me underwhelmed. I walked into the store at around 12:50 pm and was immediately greeted. Well done. I explained to the team member that I had a prescription for reader glasses that I wanted to get filled and handed her the written prescription. She glanced at the prescription and without even taking me to be seated she began to upsell me on bifocals. I explained that I did not need bifocals and that I only need the glasses for reading. She continued to attempt the upsell to bifocals right there in the middle of the store. I then told her that my doctor told me it would be my decision to get bifocals or not because they are only needed for reading.
The team member continues her upsell, still there in the middle of the store without the courtesy of seating me somewhere semi-private for the conversation. There was at least one other customer seated in the store at this time and I was very uncomfortable discussing my eye prescription in the middle of the store. At this point, I felt the team member was not listening to me at all. Her tactic of challenging me on my choice in the middle of the store was demeaning. Once I explained to her that my doctor had given me a choice and that I had chosen not to opt for the bifocals, her conversation should have been focused elsewhere. I had already had this conversation with the prescribing doctor and told her as much.
She continued to attempt to upsell the bifocals. I was not being respected and surely could not expect good service at this point. I took back my prescription, said, "Thank You", and turned to leave the store. As I did this, the ** woman behind the counter where we were standing said, “…and don't come back in here with that rudeness.” I did not respond and continued to exit the store.
The woman who said this should be extremely grateful that I am the Christian man I am today and not the person I was several years ago. I know how to be rude...I simply choose not to. Making a scene would have been uncomfortable for other customers. Coming back to “Americas Best” will not be an issue for me or anyone I have influence over. I am certain this is NOT what you typically expect from your team members and this may have been an isolated incident. You would do well to check into it. If you have surveillance footage of that time frame, this would make an excellent training point.

In May 2017 I paid $561.00 for two pairs of glasses; almost 10 times what they advertise for; they finally called me and when I went to get the glasses they were totally wrong. They charged me for the 2nd most expensive bifocal prescription and yet I could not see thru them. They told me that I had to wait for them to order again the glasses, they tried to blame me for their mistake in the prescription. No one has ever bothered to call me, so today 06/08/2017 I went in to see about my glasses. I was told that they are not ready. Not their fault and now I cannot get my money back even though they never delivered the product. They simply told me that if I don't agree with them to call the complaint department. Basically it is not their problem, it is my problem and if I don't like it tuff, they got my money and they are keeping it.

I was given the gift of two pair of eyeglasses for Christmas 2016. When the glasses came in, I was unable to wear them. They caused headaches and were unusable. Upon returning to my local store, I was re-examined and informed that the prescription was exactly half as strong as they needed to be. They re-ordered the 2 pair and when they came in, I went to pick them up. They were great, and the Doctor recommended I buy the insurance on them, stating that even if I lost them, they'd be covered. Well, sadly, that's exactly what happened late April 2017. So... since they "were covered" I phoned my local office and was informed that they were not, in fact, covered in the case of "loss". Once I told the staff that the Doctor had said they WERE covered, they eventually agreed to replace ONE pair... and advised me that the very same Doctor had misspoken, and that it had happened before with this particular Doctor. Great.
So I get one pair filled and pick them up, only to not be able to wear them. Turns out, the lab had reversed the lenses... left eye in the right position, and right eye in the left position. I go back AGAIN. Now I have a new pair that should have been right... however, sadly, they are not. Just went back again this morning to see Doctor **. NOT A NICE GUY. He had the nerve, and lack of professionalism to tell me that I needed to understand that progressive lenses can be blurry. I've worn the same type of glasses for 15 years, and I know what's entailed in wearing this type of lens. I tried, in vain, to explain to him all I had been through in trying to get these glasses right, whereupon he told me "What you should say is that you understand that you should get the glare-resistant lenses". I nearly fell out of the chair. He was cocky, treated me like I was flat-out stupid and I wouldn't wish a visit with him on my worst enemy.
I conveyed these thoughts to the staff person who helped me when the exam was finished. I was told "he has his moods"... to her credit, she did disregard the office visit and make another appointment for me next Wednesday with the only other Doctor they have at that location. All in all, I'd not ever go there again, they are very disorganized in general. Although, as with any business, there are employees there that actually care about the services they offer as opposed to the employees who are just trying to make 40 hours a week.
My Christmas present cost $300. I did get a lot of extras such as progressive lenses, lenses that turn into sunglasses outdoors. But I did get the cheapest frames... still $300. If you expect to get 2 pair of glasses for $69, understand what exactly you're getting... ask questions. I knew mine would be much more expensive, however, I did (sadly) expect them to at least be correct when I received them. Personally, I'd never waste my time with these folks again. Nightmare!!

The exam for my prescription was minimal. He didn't ask for my old prescription. He didn't dilate my eyes or do any drops. Half the slides he showed me looked dirty (not blurry), dirty like they needed a cleaning and were touched by fingers. So my exam was off. I ended up getting a prescription where one of my eyes got "better" and the other was way worse.
When I got my glasses I felt dizzy in them, when I covered one eye it was a lot blurrier than the other. I told the desk workers this and they refused to do anything about it. They told me to give it a week for me to get use to it. I have to go to work, I can't just not see correctly. They didn't listen to me when I said one eye was blurry. I wore them for the rest of the day and my eyes hurt very badly, I felt nauseous as well. I've had a headache for 2 days now trying to "get used to" these glasses. I've tripped over at least 5 things in my house because one eye makes things look closer than the other. But I guess I can't complain about it until a week is up. I hope I don't trip over anything and hurt myself at work.

Don't waste your time, I just returned from my second trip to the local America's Best, should be called "America's Worse." I was told last week after measuring me and my frames there would be no problem putting new lenses in my safety glasses. I needed a credit card from my company to pay for the new lenses so I went back in today to send my frames out for my new lenses. Now I am told they can't put progressive lenses in my frames (really they could figure out how to put the information in their computer).
I was told if I wanted to wait for the manager she could possibly order my lenses. I arrived short after 10:00 am today. I asked when the manager would be in and was told she was in the parking lot... sure enough there she stood talking to one of her friends. After 25 minutes of waiting for her I left (she was still talking to her friend). Went straight to another store (not a America's Best). Got re-measured, ordered my new lenses and was out and gone in less than 45 minutes. America's Best does not know what they are doing and could care less. I ordered two pairs of glasses with additional things such as making my lens smaller since they're so thick, scratch resistance, and glare proof. I have waited a total of a two months and three days for ONE pair of glasses, (by the time I get them it will be two months and a week) out of the two I purchased, that's IF they even fixed them this time around. The first pair I had to resend in three times, once for wrong prescription, another for flipping the lens the wrong way (the astigmatism backwards so I couldn't see out of them) and for the frame being messed up. I haven't even taken home my second pair since I've purchased them. I spent a total of $330 for these glasses.
The first store I went to took three weeks to get them done, and didn't ever call me whenever they were ready time after time I had sent them in, after the manager gave me a hard time and told me to basically suck it up and get my refund, (at this point it has been about a month I've given my glasses multiple times for their screw ups to fix) so, I transferred stores, given the fact I never have had a problem with their company when I was younger. After switching stores, my second pair (Which I still don't have) is getting "repaired" for about the 10th time. Please do not waste your money and time here. They are horrid, and will more than likely screw everything up for you. (They have also lost my glasses multiple times at both locations.) In September of 2016 I purchased an eye exam and two pairs of glasses from America's Best, I was told the price was $400.00 but for their best product, but had to pay actually $563.00, the glasses were made so badly they gave me headaches all day every day. The lenses were also bad I could not even see my computer without looking straight up. America's Best offered to remake these glasses but really did not have a frame that fit my nose so I got another pair of glasses that was bigger but not any better. Not only that the glasses were 3 times as heavy and hurt my nose even more. I put up with the pain for a few month then I contacted America's Best again asked them to refund my money so I can go and buy a pair of glasses somewhere else, they refused and suggested I go back to the store where I purchased these glasses and got two bad ones.
However I did go and see another eye doctor at Optical Outlet in Lake Wales Florida. They gave me a different prescription and a different type of frame to solve the headache problem. All this I paid for out of my pocket $169.00 one third of the cost at America's Best Eyeglasses. To sum this all up America's Best charged me $563.00 for a wrong prescription, wrong size of eyeglass frames, bifocals that were added incorrect, and a no-glare lenses that had more glare than regular lenses. First was awesome doctor, lots of help, no worries. She was thorough, helped me with my changes in prescription and I really appreciated her. She took time to listen to my concern about brands and I wasn't rushed.
Second visit was a walk in with my son. They looked right in my face and lied. He couldn't be seen because walk ins were "space permitting". Considering there were 2 techs and a doctor at the counter when I walked in I figured they had space. No one was waiting and one person was being fitted for specs. I could have handled it better if they told me they didn't want to be bothered because they were closing in 45 min than to look right at me and lie. I had glasses before seeing them and due to the poor vision in my right eye from a cataract my old glasses had one thick lens and one regular lens. Everything was great with those glasses for well over two years then I went to America's Best being I knew I needed a new pair and a exam again. Well this doctor prescribed my glasses with single vision plastic lenses of the same thickness... or lack of. I have had to take them back for some sort of light/sun spots in them already and now these glasses have made my vision even worse.
My left eye is almost as bad as my right one now from wearing these. And I have trouble seeing even something as close as a television menu or guide, much less road signs or hazards when driving. And the headaches from eye strain are horrid now. I just don't get it. The vision in my left eye was fine before these glasses. Now I can barely see from it either. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Also my frames are broken. I have the protection plan and have taken them there to get them to send them off to be fixed but instead they insist on tightening screws and that's that. I just had the most unpleasant experience with America's Best. To call this a bait and switch - false advertising company does not even come close. I knew I was in trouble upon my arrival where I was privy to the training of a new employee. Without apology the trainer was telling how it was important to encourage customers to begin by looking at glasses of the "red category" and up as these are of higher cost. She also made mention that if they are purchasing one plastic pair to push for the second pair to not be plastic. Again a money making ploy. Upon the exam I was encouraged to have the screening upgrade ($15) for glaucoma, brain tumors and other risks with "age". I did so thinking it would be a legitimate screening only to find it was another computerized screen completed by a non trained employee. Scam.
Next came the sales... yep everything is additional cost. So, for the cheapest price of $122.00 for 1 pair of glasses you can walk away with the quality of a Target $9.99 pair. I decided to skip the purchase of glasses and just pay for the exam. When I asked to take a copy of my prescription with me they did everything possible to not give it to me. First they said they are happy to fax it to another one of their stores. I again pressed for a copy. I was told "ok" and was handed a sealed envelope. When I checked I only had a copy of my receipt. I again asked for a copy. They said they could write it down for me but wrote it so sloppy that I could not read it. I then asked to have a real copy of my form and was told it went against their policy and customers are not allowed to have copies of their records. What????
As a medical professional I am well aware that all individuals are "allowed" to have copies of their personal health care information. They then agreed to let me write down my information but the general manager continued to hold the record and would place his hands and other papers over the information I needed. For me the worst part was how rude and disrespectful the general manager behaved with me. I promptly made a call to their corporate office where I was told I would be contacted ASAP with support. On January 24, 2017, I went to America's Best in Oviedo, FL, to have a pair of high index lenses placed in a designer frame identical to the one I am currently wearing with the same prescription for single distance. I gave them the prescription which they checked against my current glasses (although that was not necessary) and they charged me $192 for the lenses, the anti reflection coating, and the tracing of the frame. They made me sign a form indicating that they were not responsible for any damages caused by their technicians to my frame, which seems to be customary here in Florida. They told me it would take about 2-3 weeks.
About three weeks later, they called me to tell me that my lenses had been cut incorrectly and they had sent my eyeglasses back to the lab to have a new set of lenses made. They told me it would not take long because the second time they usually overnight the eyeglasses (which sounded like it happens frequently). About a week later they called me to notify the arrival of the eyeglasses from the lab. The eyeglasses that I picked up had lenses cut in a wave. The frame had been warped out of shape causing it to look different. I told the person who processed my refund that not only the lenses were cut incorrectly, but the frame was damaged. She was totally uncaring and looked like she was used to this type of scenario. She responded, "That's why we always make customers sign a form that says that we are not responsible for the damages to the frame."
They refunded the entire amount of $192 and quickly dismissed me as if nothing had happened. This was by far the worst place eyeglasses place I have ever been to. I am writing this review because I don't want anyone else to have such a horrible experience. Designer frames are costly. Eyeglasses are necessary to work and drive. The choice of a pair of eyeglasses involves a certain amount of emotional stress. I strongly discourage anyone from going to America's Best on 1115 Vidina Place, Suite 125, Oviedo, FL 32765.

Unfortunately, this company does not live up to their advertisements. I do understand busy - they are, but that is never an excuse for poor customer service. They may even have decent folks working in some of their stores, so go find any other place than Lynchburg, VA. When you put your customers OUT, a good company would genuinely try to make up for it. NOT AB. Rather than do the right thing, it is the customers fault... wow.
In my experience, their system seemed to be down every day for two weeks. Constantly telling me that their "System is DOWN" should have been my first clue. However, giving them the benefit of the doubt I returned. MANY visits later, they were finally able to get my order into the system. I asked for pricing of two pairs, then separated out. I was told that their system was down, "can you come back later." I did, still down - ** promised to call me back with the information once it came back up. NEVER called.
About two weeks later, it was finally semi-up. His was not, but the other associate's was. Then "oh wait, now I can take it!" Okay, dummy me, paid for the glasses and was told they would be "RUSHED" and to me the following Wednesday. I again made a trip over (60 miles round trip) only to be rudely told that they had over 400 pairs to go through to come back later. I came back later only to be rudely told to go over "there". I asked exactly where as there were 3 counters she pointed towards. She did then ask if I was picking up a pair and I said, "yes". She asked if I had received a call. I said, "no. My salesperson told me to come in on Wed - I am here to pick up per instructions." She then seemed to get a major attitude and said something along the lines that "if I had not received a phone call, then I needed to wait for one."
At this point my frustration level got the better of me and I walked out. I went to my car and called back asking if my order was in that day's delivery. She said, "let me check on it." A totally different person came back on the line - no introduction to me at all. I asked her who she was and she only told me her first name - **. I asked for her position - Manager! She then started into a spiel of "it normally takes two weeks and your glasses are in the final stages of..." I stopped her. I told her if this is how they deal with the customers, then she did not even have a CLUE as to what real "CUSTOMER SERVICE" even meant. As someone who has worked in customer services for over 30 years, you APOLOGIZE and let them know you care! Her attitude was just as bad as her employee. Hum, imagine that.
If you enjoy RUDE sales folks, employees who outright LIE and a store manager that tries to intimidate you, because you dare to ask questions, then by all means visit the Lynchburg, VA store! BEWARE of America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses on Wards Crossing West, 120 Simons Run, Ste H, Lynchburg, VA 24502. This is one customer that will NEVER return.

Went in the front staff very good. Once back with eye doctor seemed to be going good. Picked out two pair glasses ordered them. Normally bifocals ordered but I thought I would try without bifocal portion. They never suggests that was not a good idea. Received my glasses and I was feeling sick to my stomach. Had to keep putting my old glasses on. Single vision glasses were bothering me also. Went to Costco a month later to get my eyes rechecked. Doctor there informed me that America's Best should have never allowed me to order single vision glasses since already use to bifocals and nearsighted glasses. Then the script that they prescribed was way too powerful for my eyes.
Ordered glasses through Costco and went back to America's Best to get my glasses redone. Called because did not want to have to wait wanted to make appointment. Kept getting voicemail. No person explained what happened and they never called back attempts to do this three times. Went to store but were closed. Personal things kept me from going back. I just do not want this from happening to anyone else. I am out over two hundred dollars with two pair of glasses I can't use but again do not want anyone else getting this done to them!!!

My experience started fairly well, with checking out frames while I was waiting for the exam. The tech who did her part of the exam was skilled and very friendly. However, I became rather uneasy when the exam with the Dr. lasted all of 5 minutes. I was then helped with picking out frames, and narrowed it to two pairs. I told the lady that I did NOT want two pairs, as I knew that wouldn't include frames and all the upgrades. Their "system was down", so she could not quote me prices. I asked her to call me back with the individual costs on each pair so that I could decide which ones I wanted.
She finally called back 48 hours later, and, of course, had one price for both pairs combined. I explained again that I wanted individual prices. She also informed me that I would have to come back because she had forgotten to take the measurements for the progressive bifocals. I told her that I lived 25 miles away and was not happy that I would have to make another trip.
Over the weekend I found this site and read all of the horror stories and rip-offs that had happened to so many other customers. So, I decided to halt this before it went any farther, and called the store this morning to tell them that I would not be purchasing my glasses there. I think that I saved myself a LOT of aggravation and problems. This means that since my insurance will be billed for that exam that I will have to pay for another exam out of my own pocket, but I can live with that. I will find a Dr. who has more than 5 minutes to spend with me, and I will get a proper and thorough exam. Thanks to this website for "opening my eyes" (ha, in more ways than one) and saving me a lot of money for crappy glasses! Just say no to this business!

Two minutes later, I got a call from the store saying my contacts were in, she couldn't explain why the person I had just talked to at the store told me they weren't there. I go to pick them up and I'm told that because I've never worn contacts before, I had to take a class. Oh, and they don't offer the class after 4pm. I ordered 2 pair of glasses at America's Best in Altoona, PA, one with a designer frame, and one with a "generic" frame. When I went to pick them up, the designer frame had no-line bifocals in them that they said were positioned wrong. First they told me to wear the frames down on my nose as I would readers. If I had to wear them that way, then I would just get readers. I asked them to adjust the lenses so the frames could be worn where they were supposed to be worn. They told me they could have new, adjusted, lenses put in the frames, but they couldn't guarantee that they would work (this was my first pair of bifocals). Since there was no guarantee, I asked for the lenses to be replaced with readers. They told me the price for readers was going to be less than $17 less than the bifocals ($163 instead of $180). This clearly didn't make sense because no-line bifocal lenses are significantly more expensive than readers.
When I got home, I looked at the bill. It was wrong. The new frames and lenses should have been $83 not $163. I called them. They confirmed the error. I then looked at the frames on multiple websites. Each one clearly stated that no-line bifocal lenses should not be used in that frame. On every other retail eye glass supplier website, a hard case with soft cleaning cloth was included in all frame purchases of that frame. When I went to pick up the glasses, they were in the cheapest vinyl case I have ever seen. When I asked for the case that went with them, they said they didn't have any and offered to sell me a hard case.
The second pair of glasses I ordered consisted of reading lenses and a dark brown frame with subtle taupe lines in it. When I went to pick them up, the frame had a glaring white spot on the tip of the left temple. When I asked for a frame that looked like the one I tried on, they objected and offered to put my lenses in the display frames. The hinges in the display frames were worn and loose. They tried to tighten them, which resulted in hinges that didn't move. I asked for the frames to be replaced again. They reluctantly agreed but, again, refused to guarantee the replacements. They were also in a cheap case when I picked them up.
Spending hundreds of dollars (after insurance) on glasses should not be this hard. There is a very poor service culture at the management level here. My husband went to another retail eyeglass supplier and had a great experience - same prices, glasses done right the first time, quality service and goods (including decent cases). Some of the people who work at America's Best in Altoona are polite and eager to help. Nonetheless, I can't recommend this place. Best to go elsewhere.

Scheduled an appointment for my grandson. Waited 1/2 hour from our scheduled appointment time. Once we were called back the eye exam was determined based on my grandson not identifying the alphabet on the wall [which he could only identify 2 letters because he could not see]. We were unable to proceed with the eye exam because my grandson could not identify the letters. The young lady said that we could not proceed. My grandson just turned 4 and was prescribed with his 1st pair of glasses at 1-1/2. There was no need to know the alphabet then.
Very disappointed because even though I asked to see the doctor anyway and did have the glasses my grandson is using I could not get past the young lady to do so. I have full coverage insurance. Scheduled an appointment elsewhere. Glasses will be ready for pick up on 1/14/2017. Thank you America's Best for the unprofessional treatment. This was the boost needed to ensure that my grandson will be able to see with his new glasses and will be able to identify the alphabet BECAUSE HE CAN SEE THEM!!!

I ride my bicycle like 3.5 miles to get there & I have a rough idea of what they have from looking online. They have high-end quality glasses and lots of frames. I like plastic frames but I'm open to metal. If you're expecting 5 star service you should lower your expectations for the ridiculously low price of glasses & how they have at least 9 people in there at a time. 2 pairs w/ tints for less than $140...Very great value!! I purchased a pair of glasses in store. The selection was pretty minimal and I wasn't super excited about what I chose, but got them anyway. The turn around time was pretty fast. I picked them up the next day with my custom lenses. The glasses had some little rhinestone embellishments on the side and several of the stones fell out within a few weeks (I'm not particularly rough on my glasses although I do wear them all the time; the stones just were not secured enough). I would have expected a better quality product for the price.
I went back to the store and they gave me a free pair of glasses to replace the first pair, and let me keep the first pair to boot. I now have a pair of "play" glasses that are missing a few stones but useful for days when I'm doing yard work, hiking, or whatever else. I liked that they replaced the first pair and didn't ask questions. I was so afraid they'd think I did it on purpose to get a free pair. I didn't like the fact that there was such a limited selection. Hipster big frames all looked the same, and the only other choice were narrow 90's style glasses or big old fashioned ones (that seemed like they were for older people). Choosing a second pair was REALLY hard because I had already purchased the only pair I really liked. The second pair was a better quality and lasted a long time.

I went 2 days before deciding ok, there is something wrong here and decided to go to America's Best due to the ads on TV (2 pairs of glasses for 69.99). I scheduled the appointment and went the same day. I had the exam and was told that I needed glasses with Prism in them so that my eyes would align and be able to see images clearly and would not be able to get contacts because contacts do not come with Prism in them. I was told I would have to wait 7-10 days for my glasses.
In the meantime, I can not see properly. As a single mother with 2 small children and no assistance, this terrifies me. I call them to get the status of my eyewear and am told they are still in the lab. I ask if there is anything they could provide me temporarily so that I can be able to drive my children to and from school as having blurred doubled vision on a constant basis is making driving extremely difficult and I do not want to get in an accident. They advised me that there is nothing that they can do as they do not make glasses there on the spot.
They referred me to Eyeglass World, who does make glasses on the spot but Eyeglass World would charge me an additional $150 on top of the $220 (not 69.99) I already paid to America's Best. I expressed that this cannot be the only alternative (I do not know about most, but I do not have that kind of money sitting around). They continue to say there is nothing that can be done.
I asked what if I were in an accident. I feel that for a doctor to know that a patient is not able to see properly and then not provide any advice or alternative until their eyewear arrives, is a major LIABILITY for their practice. I was not even told whether or not I should or shouldn't be driving. Fortunately enough, I know due to common sense that I should not be driving yet I have no choice at this point. I am still waiting for glasses, but I also still have to be a mother to my children, but if ANYTHING happens up until that point, a lawyer will definitely come in to play.

Yeah, I'm mad as a hatter, but I still know about service. The point is, these folks didn't even stutter. Nobody stared, nobody rolled their eyes. My adult son went with me and they were kind and patient with both of us.
As it happened, I got two different scripts, one for driving and the other for sewing. The sewing pair weren't quite right because I needed to see much closer to my eyes than reading, so the tech cheerful offered to make new ones. The store was very busy and the gal asked if I could come back for a re-exam in a few days. My panic loomed, but my son carefully explained that I could not actually get out of the house that easily. She smiled, and said no problem, and found somebody to do a new exam ten minutes later. The last fitting two weeks later, both pairs were perfect and I paid $69.99.
I don't wish to harp on other people, but it is up to the consumer to set expectations. These are incredibly affordable glasses, with an exam. They are obviously no frills. So, if you need something special, if you need no glare, if you need bifocals or whatever, they're not going to be that cheap. Know this going in. Also, they will of course try to sell you upgrades. It's their job. Be kind, say no, hold your ground, and you'll walk out with better vision, x2, and a smile. Nothing is free. Many of these reviews seem to have forgotten that.

I got one pair for $315 or the two would cost me $375. Really! The ad is false advertising plain & simple to stop you from going somewhere else! The ad should state 2 pairs of frames (and a small group of them) for $69.99 including eye exam... Lesson learned... Go to Walmart & save money!

I went to a retina dr and was told that I needed to get glasses due to the floaters that I am experiencing while I have my contacts in. I was enticed with the 2 glasses and vision check for such a good deal. I now see why. I decided to get contacts as well as 2 glasses. I told this to the eye dr. She clearly understood that I was planning to wear my glasses with my contacts. Well I choose my glasses and was told to wear the trial contacts and come back in a week to see how I do with them and that she will recheck my eyes then. I waited 2 weeks and went in.
The prescription that was for the computer was without contacts so they needed to send them back. The Dr had to retest my eyes and she never checked my eyes for the contacts. I was given the other glasses and this was a trivision for the computer. These were fine but could not see the computer. I had to drive back and send these off too. I mentioned that my eyes were not rechecked for the contacts. Then she checked them. I waited 2 more weeks for my glasses again. I went back and well you guessed it. Wrong again. One eye perfect, the other a no go. Could not see a darn thing. The eye dr that I seen was not there that day so I was told that they will call me back. Well I called in the am and the person who answered told me that the eye tech was not there that am and to call back tomorrow.
I was to say the least upset I have been waiting for a month for these glasses and still nothing. I asked for the manager and told she was busy. I asked for her manager's boss and then conveniently the manager was able to speak to me. I asked for my money back and she said that it will take 2 weeks to get my money put back in my HSA. I called their customer service and no help. I after work went again back to sign the papers to get my money back. I said "It will be 2 weeks?" She said "No. More like 10-14 business days!!!" I left and called her boss. He was very nice and said he would call me back and see if he could do something about getting my money back. Well it has been 2 days and no phone call. I just checked my account and no money. I hope I get my money in 10-14 business days. I am out of more than 450.00 dollars. No money to spend for my glasses and still have nothing as of right now.

They advertised 2 glasses for $69 with a free exam. They said they take insurance. My insurance was good. I went there the day before to check it out. My appointment was the next day. Got there a little early. I waited 45 min to be seen. The eye exam took about 15 min. Waited to be seen for 30 min. Sat down with a service rep at her computer while she told me I didn't have the benefits I just checked on. I gave her my insurance phone number to call. She made several attempts but couldn't get through. I called them and they told her my benefits as I had. Now, she couldn't make her computer accept my plan. This took 3 hours. When her computer shut down, I left. She called me the next day to tell me she got the computer setup and I could come back to measure my glasses.
Next day I came in and she was in the back helping someone else with their contacts. I went up to the General Manager and told her what I needed, but she didn't have a clue. There were only 2 reps with customers and a few customers waiting. I walked around the store three times and heard one customer telling the rep all about his truck! I was getting frustrated at the lack of service for the customers waiting. It had been 45 minutes and I went back to the GM and she continued repeating the wrong information to me.
By now the rep had finished talking to the man with the truck. GM brought me to her saying how good this report was. The rep I wanted to see was still busy in the back. I sat down with new rep and she immediately started off with if you are out of network they won't pay. I jumped in with my benefits and she looked at me like I was lying and said well, we'll see. I flipped out and told her I had been all through this with the other rep. She said I didn't appreciate you saying talking, talking when I was with my customer! I told her there are other customers waiting while you were talking to him about his truck. She said I like my customers to feel comfortable and take their time. So I offered to tell her about how I have created my front yard to look like a park, but there are people waiting to be helped.
Luckily, the rep I came to see came out from the back telling the GM and the rep she had already setup the computer. She measured my glasses and I left with only 90 minutes. I did not get the 2 glasses with free exam because I got bifocals. So I got one pair and one exam for $500. I paid $100. They billed my insurance for the rest. Service can't keep up with the needs of the customers and they are rude.

My husband and myself went to the Boynton Beach, Florida location yesterday for eye exams and new glasses. We went to this location last year and were really pleased with the service but that was certainly not the case this year. Last year, vision insurance covered the cost of frames but did not pay for progressive lenses or anti-glare coating. This year, they only cover the eye exam as they only pay for glasses every 2 years.
After the exam, we picked out frames. Actually the saleslady seemed to pick them out for us claiming that "she knew what was best", not really interested in any input we may have had. She then proceeded to not offer us lens options, choosing the digital premium lens without even asking us. Those things are $104.00 per lens!!! Outrageous!!! We both needed progressive lenses and anti-glare coating and she knew insurance was not covering the cost of the glasses, so you would think she would show a little mercy... Apparently not, to the tune of $547.00 for 2 pairs of glasses!!! We told her to cancel the sale and we will take our business elsewhere.
They use that huge poster in the store window to lure people in, 2 pairs for $69.99. Don't expect to pay anything close to that. Save your money and go somewhere else where they aren't out to ** you, like Walmart optical because they realize those people who shop at Walmart are there to save money, not empty their bank account with unauthorized "add-ons" that they don't consult with you about. No one should have to go into hock to buy glasses and they most certainly should be told what they are being charged for without the salesperson doing what's best for their commission and not what is best for the customer.

I went to see the optometrist at America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses of Murfreesboro, TN on Saturday August 13th. The staff was very friendly and their selection of glasses was nice as well. Their bargain wall (2 for $69) had lots of modern looking trendy frames, which was a nice bonus! When my spouse and I walked in, the woman behind the front desk was friendly and helped us through the paperwork we needed to do. It was simple, straightforward, and she was incredibly nice the entire time. She walked us back to where we were supposed to meet the doctor, which was just through a hallway, and waited until someone else came to help us - her service was fantastic.
My issue came from the eye exam and everything thereafter. The eye doctor seemed to be very professional and that was nice, until I told her the problems I was having out of my eyes. She read my old prescription in the machine and did the typical "1 or 2?" routine. When I told her my vision was still very blurry, I was told "Let's try this for a bit and see how you do." I insisted that my vision was extremely blurry, even worse than before. I was told my last prescription was too strong (it was not, I was having to squint to see far), and that I would not need anything to help me read.
I continued to try to tell her that I was unable to see with that prescription, but she wrote it anyway and sent me out to pick glasses. The room was totally empty and there were several associates standing around while my family and I were looking at all of the glasses options. Not once did someone offer to come help us, which really disappointed me. I had to walk to the front and get the attention of the optician who was sitting on her phone behind one of the desks. She tried to push us into buying several fancy upgrades and we stayed firm on only wanting to spend $69 to see the quality of the frames/lenses first. After checking us out, we were hurried out and told that she would try to rush the order on my glasses, as I can't go without glasses.
They were supposed to be in on the 23rd of August, but ended up ready to be picked up yesterday (Wednesday the 18th). I tried my glasses on in store and was served by the lovely front desk associate that greeted us on the Saturday. I told her that it was extremely blurry and hard to see, especially out of one eye, but was told she was not a doctor and to try it anyways for a week and see what they felt like.
After having them on for an hour, I was bumping into things and had a terrible migraine, so I called them again and asked if there was any way to check if it was in fact the right prescription in the lenses. It was verified that the prescription was the one on the page, and I was told to call back in the morning. When I called back this morning (Thursday) I was told that I can't see a doctor today to have my eyes re-checked as this prescription did not work AT ALL. It was so much weaker than I needed with the wrong values in it. I am supposed to go in tomorrow to have my eyes re-checked and the lenses changed out if possible, but this is a very long ordeal and a huge hassle for people with lives and jobs who need their glasses urgently. I should have gone to a same day service with a more thorough exam.

Best experience ever getting glasses. I've buying glasses for cover 50 years. Never before has anyone helped me choose my glasses. They've always just pointed me to the wall and left me to make decisions on my own, never telling me what looked good and what didn't and why. But my great experience (with the Bartlett, TN office) started with a phone call to ask if they took my insurance. I was told 9 times out of 10, they didn't take Medicare based insurance, but she would be happy to check. As it turned out they did.
She asked for a little more info and was able to tell me exactly how much they paid. I explained I already had a prescription and she said, "fine", I didn't need an appointment. I said, "I'd be in in a little while". She gave the hours, exact location and she'd have my paperwork ready. When I arrived I was greeted like a long time customer. Everyone in the store was very friendly. They treated everyone that came in while I was there the same way. By the way, they said they had to tell me it would take two weeks for my glasses to come in. Three days later, I received a call and one pair was already there.

I went to the store I bought them (Victor, NY) and they told me it was the worst delamination they've ever seen. I take very good care of my glasses. I've been wearing my old sunglasses (about 6 years old) that have no delamination whatsoever.
America's Best, instead of standing behind their product and providing customer service, told me I had to pay to replace my defective lenses. This is unbelievable! The manager said they had never seen a delamination like this. America's Best should say "We will replace your lenses at no cost and we're so sorry this happened." That would be good customer service. But instead, they are telling me that I HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE THEIR DEFECTIVE PRODUCT!!! This is OUTRAGEOUS! Knowledge of how glasses are fitted and the materials they're made of help immensely in determining on how happy you will be with your purchase. I requested the measurement numbers for future reference since I felt these glasses fit perfectly. I did get up sold on upgrades I wanted and was willing to pay extra for like no line big focal, upgraded clearer lens material, scratch resistance along with transition darkening. The price was less than I expected for all these features in two pair of glasses that carry a one-year lens damage replacement. I've shopped at other retailers and came back to an America's Best because of their quality product, lowest prices, and outstanding customer support. If you have any issues they will bend over backwards to make it right. I know they are my go to shop for glasses.

My daughter (Melody) tried contact lenses for the first time July 2015. June 2016 my daughter told me she was about to run out of contact lenses so it was time to reorder; which I immediately called America's Best, Mays Landing, New Jersey location, and placed and paid for the lenses (mail order). At that time the young lady told me that my daughter was due for her next exam in July so after this order she would not be able to get more contact lenses until her next exam. So I said okay. I made the appointment for July 19, 2016. At that appointment my daughter's prescription changed which meant she would have new contact lenses and the lenses I just bought would take her 6 months at 2 weeks per use to finish them. I called the store to ask if I could get a credit or refund on the unused contact lenses and I was told if the box was opened, no, but I would be able to receive samples for my daughter in exchange for the unused lenses.
I went to the Mays Landing store on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, and the young lady at the front desk said she would find out if I could do that type of transaction that I was told about on the phone, and I was told "no." I was never told that if I'm close to having a yearly exam not to order the contact lenses my daughter needed. And if she used her eyeglasses they wouldn't have been the best remedy either because that prescription was now 2 years or so old, and with the new exam and the change in prescription I wasted money ordering the contact lenses in June that my daughter should not wear because her eyes have changed in 1 year's time.
Please tell me that someone in the Corporate Office can help with this situation and at least offer a credit for the unused contact lenses I just paid for in June 2016. I am so disappointed and disgusted with the way I was told one thing on the telephone and another in the Mays Landing store. If this isn't resolved to my satisfaction I may have to tell others about the poor service at America's Best, and go to another competitor for my family's eye care as we are a family of 3 that uses America's Best. I hope to hear from someone really soon about this matter. Disappointed and Disgusted. -- Hard-working customer.

I purchased a pair of glasses with progressive lenses, anti glare, transitions and frames in November of 2015. I had great service. My glasses were great. We talked about not using paper on my lenses, always use soft clean cloth or a lens cleaning cloth, or special wipes. I don't remember being told that the lenses should always be wet when they're cleaned... That's where I went wrong.
I began to notice scratches. At first I thought they were just dirty. When I realized it was scratching, I went back to the store where I bought them to see if they can be fixed... Unfortunately, the young man who took care of me was young, probably new, and didn't know the questions to ask. He was a very polite but seemed inexperienced. I did not think to ask if I could talk to another associate. I was really upset but I went home, and started to see if I could "live with it", because even though their prices are good, the lenses I need aren't cheap. I decided to go back during the week and see one of the regular associates who asked immediately if I purchased my glasses there. My glasses are under warranty, she ordered new lenses, and gave me great advice to keep my new lenses like new. Happy Customer!

So on July 12, 2016 they said my glasses were ready. I am handicapped and hard for me to walk. I went to pick up my glasses and both pair were TOTALLY blurry for distance and bifocals for reading. Extremely professional service with no discernible wait times, polite staff, and doctor's findings were same as I have gotten at far more expensive eye care offices. The cost was well below any other eye care office I priced out (I need an exam and both glasses and contacts prescriptions). Also note that the three-year ($99) exam plan is still well below one exam cost from any other site I contacted. No pressure to purchase anything (I didn't, except for $20 addition to exam to check back of eye), and I may just go back and price out glasses! Have noticed some bad reviews on glasses from this chain and will I think about this before I order any. Definitely contacting them about the cost of my pre-packaged disposable contacts though.

I purchased 3 pairs of Ray-Ban frame glasses from the Asheville NC store with progressive lenses and "all the works" of which needless to say cost quite a lot. I had a friend that worked there at the time and felt like it was an overall good deal. Well... several weeks went by and I kept a constant headache. As I had just had the eye exam and new lenses my MD referred me to a neurologist for evaluation. Prior to going to the MD I realized that the lenses in all three pair of glasses could not get clean. There was a constant smear on the lenses which was causing the headaches. I went by the store and was told to use their cleaning supplies of which I was already and more or less brushed off.
The problem continued and I went back to the store and was told I should wash them in Dawn once a week and brushed off again. This has still not corrected the problem so I am now at the point of having to go to another eye doctor to have new lenses replaced in all three pairs of glasses. I warn folks not to trust these glasses as they start off okay and then just seem to start deteriorating. And don't expect to receive any help from the store you get them from.

I went to this location on 3.22.16 before leaving for a humanitarian mission trip for Africa. I needed at least one pair of contacts to take with me. They ordered the others, as I need a specialty lens. I went on my trip and I then got ill when I came home. After I recovered, I had to move a household from MI back to IN, therefore, I had a lot on my plate. Since I had been ill, I hadn't been using my contacts much, mainly my glasses. However, I finally am well and settled and it just hit me that I never have heard a thing about my contacts. And it is 6.30.16... 3 1/2 months.
I called today and here's how it went: Call 1: Got cut off after about 2 min. on hold. Call 2: Waited on hold 5 min. but there was no on hold radio like before, so I thought it was dead. I hung up. Call 3: I called back. She answered, "Is this Jerry?" I guess they saw number and knew it was me. Not sure what happened. I was told "Dee" was looking into it. "Can I put you on hold?" "NO!" I asked for them to call me.
Call 4: After waiting more than 30 minutes, I called back. I live an hour away and was hoping to change my day to drive in and pick these up. I was once again put on hold for 7 minutes. Someone came on and asked how they could help me like it was a new call. I explained it all AGAIN and was put on hold. After 10 min. someone came on and said "The manager said the associate that did this order messed up. He's going to talk to that associate and have him correct it." I immediately asked to talk to manager as I felt I deserved to know what happened. He was in an appt. but called back about 15 min. later.
So, I went in on 3.22.16, because I was leaving for Africa on 3.23.16. They had to order my special contacts, which can sometimes take 10 days. However, 4 days after I was there, someone picked up my order! I had NO ONE pick up my order and knew I would be gone. And this was paid for. They don't check ID, but, as the manager stated, it is rare for someone coming it to get someone else's order, especially a specialty contact. I get that.
The manager with whom I spoke was very confused and understood my frustration. This was the first he knew of this and he was going to talk to the associate when he comes in "today at 1:30 PM". He said it didn't make sense that those lenses would have been there so quickly anyway, and he doesn't know why they were given to someone other than myself. He did say, "I like to show him things like this when they happen..." Basically, it sounds like this associate has a tendency to have quite a few mistakes.
So, I'm now without contacts and also without a retail optometrist, as I will not be returning here. The manager is having new lenses shipped to my home, but I'm done with them after that. America's Best has the new ad campaign with the owl. Some of the ads are kind of amusing and others are just annoying. However, they called themselves America's Best... but according to my experience, they clearly are not.

America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses in Springfield, IL willingly and knowingly takes advantage of the elderly. Their management staff are incompetent and rude. Their aggressive pricing behavior is non-transparent and misleading. I originally set my mother up with an eyeglass appointment for no-line bifocals. We were originally quoted two sets of prices: 1. two frames with standard no-line bifocals with free exam for $150, and 2. two frames with precision no-line bifocals with free exam for $250. My mother went to her appointment and she left with a bill for greater than $495.00. My mother upon leaving was quite upset with the radical revision in the originally quoted price. She left completely mystified and very upset as to how the price nearly tripled from the originally quoted amount.
I called to find out what happened and was told she had requested sunglasses for one pair of glasses and that she ordered an upgrade to designer frames for another pair of eyeglasses. From my conversation with my mother, it was clear she was never clearly told the price of each one of these upgrades. The first staff person I spoke told me that they had originally mischarged her for two pairs of designer frames but that she had to contact the original person who sold her the frames to make the price correction. I was told they would call me back with the revised and corrected price. They never called me back. So instead I called them back the next day and again asked for the price after subtracting out their error of mischarge for the two designer frames. I was told her bill would instead be approximately $450.00. I then asked them to explain to me point-by-point how they managed to go from $150.00 to $450.00.
At that point in time I was told that that was confidential information requiring a release by mother. Unwilling to send my mother back to a store which had clearly engaged in manipulative pricing behavior, I asked why this basic pricing information was suddenly confidential and was never provided a satisfactory response. At this point, over two phone conversations, a non-returned call, and a sudden commitment to random confidentiality, I believe uttered a single expletive! Gasp!
At that point in time I finally was told I could speak with the store manager, who I was never allowed to speak to prior, despite requesting to. I again explained the situation. I was never provided a clear line-by-line statement of the bill. At this point I told the store manager that I wanted a refund for my mother and that I intended to vocally report their willingly and knowingly deceptive and fraudulent behavior to the entire worldwide web for all to see. He claimed he was in the store when my mom made her purchase decisions. I again told him my mother was unaware of the additional charges that she was being provided and that she, as do all customers, deserves to receive them. He asked if I was calling into account his credibility. I told him that that was precisely what I was doing.
At that point I was told that my entire family was unwelcome in their store and that if they attempted to return to collect their refund that that would be issued a legal injunction. Having received such a threat, it is clear that America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses has no intention of refunding my mother's purchase. They have thus stolen nearly $500 from my mother. Rest assured our attorneys have been notified. We will sue you if necessary. My family and I intend to repeat this story on every public internet and media forum until this is resolved to my and mother's satisfaction.

While there the doctor briefly said that if my son would like he could try on a "free trial pair" of contacts to see if he liked them. There was no mention of any extra charge to try on a "free trial pair" of contacts. After my son tried them on the contact technician named Brittani tried to charge us an extra $80!
I refused but had to stay very firm as the contact tech tried to strong arm me into paying it. She tried to claim that the eye exam which was included in the $69 deal was also the $79 contact exam all wrapped up into 1 exam, even though there was no mention of contacts until the eye exam was over and the only mention of contact was asking us if my son would like to try a "free trial pair". I held fast and refused to pay anything over the $69 I had agreed to but it was a very unpleasant experience and apparently this is America's Best's standard operating procedure based on the comments here. Up until this attempt to stronghold us for an extra $79, I was happy with the service -- and we were even considering the contacts for a future time. Obviously now we will take our business elsewhere.

This was my 2nd time at this location. The first time there my son picked out 2 pair of glasses and paid 69.95 for the glasses and exam. We were very pleased and decided to go back again. He had his exam and picked out 2 pair of glasses from the section that said Men's 2 for 69.95, great, no problem. When we went over to the desk to complete the transaction the bill was 288.00 and some change, when we asked the very nice man he said they were glare free, titanium and something else.
I wanted to know where this was stated and why if the glasses he got last time were 69.99. He told us that they were plastic lenses and not glare free. The frames he got this time are exactly like he got first visit. This is complete false advertising and I am very unhappy with the whole experience. I work for a large company and do customer service. We would never try to cheat our customers out of anything, and we guarantee 100% customer satisfaction. I really think we should be reimbursed something. I will never go back or recommend anyone to your company!!!

I was seen at the Newnan, GA location on 04/25/16. When my services were completed, I wanted to pay and leave to go home. I wasn't getting any contacts nor glasses... All I wanted to do was to pay and leave. (I had an eye infection.) I was told I had to wait, until my name was called to pay. I waited and waited for thirty minutes and no one called my name. I went up front and ask the receptionist "could I pay" and was told that she wasn't set up to take a payment and that she was only the receptionist and she would have to ask her manager.
I knew that I already waited 30 minutes and another 30 minutes were not feasible. The manager heard me talking and rudely said "You have to wait your turned..." I then said "Well you guys can just bill me. I do not need any further assistance, just want to pay." (I've never been to a place where I had to wait and wait just to pay!) The manager Mark ** (General Manager) at the Newnan location (GA) was very nasty and attempted to argue and talk over me. I immediately asked another employee did they have a business card with the manager name so I can report him to the corporate office. I will never go back to this location -- customer service sucks! For that matter, I've never go back to American's Best. I feel as if I was a number, and not a customer!!

This was the first time I went to this company, but before I went I read all the fine print and thought I knew what to expect. I knew that since I wore bifocals it would be $99 for 2 pair of glasses. I was careful to pick the right frames. All was going well until the person helping me started adding things that she said "the doctor will want you to have". When I looked at all that she had added, without asking me if I even wanted them, the bill was over $200. I told her I just wanted the standard eye test. She was not happy and let me know that I was making a "BIG mistake". She said "I'll have to ask the doctor if he even wants to see you now." When I went in to have my eye exam done, the doctor was very nice but when I told him about the problems I had before seeing him, he just laughed and said she was just "over zealous at times". I wasn't pleased with my experience, nor the doctor's response to my complaint. I won't be going back.

Do NOT do business with this store! This account is long, but the short version is, they made the glasses wrong, then lied to me TWICE, did not submit the order with the new prescriptions, after a re-check, and I ended up having to wear my old glasses, which had broken apart at the bridge, for over two weeks, with nothing but duct tape holding the 2 pieces together. I am still wearing the broken glasses now! (I am very nearsighted, and can't see anything without them)
I went to America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses because they seemed to have the most affordable glasses available. I had an eye exam, to get my prescription, and ordered two pairs of glasses, with different prescriptions - one for distance vision, and one for computer use. The glasses came back in less than a week, but the lenses of both pairs were impossible for me to see through! They not only made my vision blurry, but they gave me double vision!
I assumed that the optometrist had made a mistake with my prescription and asked for a re-check with another doctor. The employee that I was dealing with told me that there would be no doctor at that location until 2 days later and that would be the same doctor who initially examined my eyes. As my current glasses were broken, and I urgently needed new ones, I asked if I could get an appointment for a recheck at another location - and the employee did call and scheduled me an appointment for the next day, at the next-nearest location.
Then I asked for some kind of receipt showing that I had already paid for two pairs of glasses, plus the free exam that went with them and that the store still owed me the exam and 2 pairs of glasses. The employee didn't know how to do that, so she said that she was going to refund my money. (All of this took a very long time, as this person did not seem to know how to use the store's computer system very well. She also didn't speak English very well.)
When she finally finished entering the refund information, I checked my bank balance on my phone and saw that the money was not there. (I did not have any extra money to pay for the glasses and exam again.) I told her that the money had not come back into my account, and she said, "Oh, it will take about a week to process." This woman KNEW that my current glasses were broken - only held together with duct tape - and that I urgently needed new ones. And yet, instead of doing something that would allow me to get my eyes re-examined the next day and order glasses then, she chose to issue a refund that left me without the funds to get new glasses! Anyway, when I expressed my dismay, she said she would do something to get me a free vision check at the other location.
The next day, I went to the other so-called America's Best store, and I did get my eyes checked by another optometrist. Then I chose two frames from that store's selection and told the store employee which pair I wanted for which prescription. I also showed him the receipt from the other store and explained that I did not have the money to pay for the glasses because of what the woman at the other store had done. The guy at this 2nd store said that he would go ahead and order the glasses for me anyway and that I should call the store and pay by phone as soon as my refund came in.
About 6 days later, the money finally came back into my account. I called the store to find out of my glasses were ready yet and to make the payment. The person I spoke to on the phone said that they had NOT ORDERED MY GLASSES! So now I had been going around with glasses broken into two pieces, at the bridge, held together by duct tape, for two weeks, and still had no new glasses! The store employee who said he would submit my order lied to me!
At that point, I was so desperate for new glasses that I resolved to borrow that amount necessary to pay the high price of same-day glasses at LensCrafters. So I asked the person I was speaking to on the phone if I could get my glasses prescriptions, and I said that I needed to pick it up from the first America's Best location that I had gone to, as it was close to where I work. He said that they would fax my new prescription over to the other store, and I could get it the next day.
The next day, I went in to the original store to get my prescription, and they said that no one had faxed it to them. So someone from the other store had lied to me again!!! I did finally get my prescription the next day, which was yesterday. I don't trust America's [so-called] Best Contacts and Eyeglasses at all now, and I also can not bear to wear these broken glasses for another week or more, so I am going to have to borrow money and get expensive ones made at LensCrafters. I will only be able to get a pair for distance vision, at this point. I don't know what I'm going to do about using the computer.

I am writing this review because the quality of the glasses that they gave me are worse than readers I have purchased from drug stores, even Dollar Tree. Yes, Dollar Tree. Despite the advertising of two pairs for $69.95 my tab came to just over $300. Immediately one pair had to be remade and months later remade once again. The quality of the optics seems to degrade quickly over time. I have a pair of bifocals that are plain glass in the top with prescription in the bottom. In theory I should be able to see objects as well through the clear area as without glasses. I find that after just a few months the clear area becomes distorted and I see things better without the glasses. I use the cleaning cloth supplied by them. I know that I can make a warranty claim, but each time my glasses are sent off for 10 days to 2 weeks and I am without glasses.
It seems as the quality of their frames also comes up lacking as I can't keep mine in adjustment. The last time I went in for adjustment the young lady looked at me, not taking my glasses off, just looked at me and said "they look okay to me" and walked away. Several weeks later the first pair developed a crack inside the lens which distorted his view.
There was no scratch on the outside of the lens but the front desk person insisted that it was as she was aggressively scratching the lens and because of my sons age it was the major factor in the condition of the lens. She was very insistent that we were at fault and not the poor craftsmanship of the product. I had to take the glasses from her before she created a scratch! Upon my family's arrival at the airport, we proceeded to this location for the appointment and parked the vehicle given to us by the rental company in the car park of America's Best mere feet away from their front door. Within an hour of our arrival there, our vehicle was broken into and our luggage was stolen. Our luggage contained our passports, visas, laptops, cell phones, credit cards, etc. As we had not yet arrived at our final destination these documents were stashed in our carry on pieces as we did not expect to have stayed more than half hour at America's Best.
As the manager of the store became aware of our predicament, only then was it mentioned to us that this particular store of America's Best had been experiencing a spate of robberies within recent times and the management and staff of this store did not see it fit to inform any of the customers coming into the store to be mindful of where they were parked. While I understand the company will not want to scare away potential clients, I believe it's far more damaging to the company's reputation to not mention something as important as probable robberies at the store. We were also told because of the robberies, video cameras had to be installed in the car park but they were of no use to us as we were not able to see the faces of those that committed the crime.
America's Best, for this indiscretion, you get ONE STAR as you demonstrated YOU DO NOT CARE FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS AT ALL by failing to provide security in the car park area of your business or at least discreetly mentioning to persons to amplify the checks they already provide to their vehicles parked in YOUR car park. It does not matter whether you share the car park with the bank and other business places located nearby, something other than cameras that cannot zoom in on the faces of persons frequenting there should have been implemented knowing what you all knew. Way to go America's Best. Such a caring and thoughtful company.

The $69 for two pair is a scam. I ended up paying over $500 for two pair of progressive Bifocals. They tell you the Dr recommends exams you don't need and have to pay for an additional goodies for your glasses like anti-glare scratch/Shatter resistant lenses. If you pay $69 for two pair, that's just the frames. The "Suggestive Sales" technique will get you in the end because it sales driven. This is false advertising and unethical practices by selling you added services you don't need. I will never recommend this place to anyone. STAY AWAY unless you want to spend over $500.

I had the eye exam, ordered a pair of progressives and a pair of single vision sunglasses. Got the eye exam and both pair of glasses for under 200 dollars. I had them in 5 days. I was able to adjust almost before I was out the door. Everything seems to be dead on. (Prescription, size, etc) Maybe I'm new at this (wearing glasses) but I couldn't ask for better service. The first salesperson immediately tried to upgrade me to more expensive frames and tints (hundreds of dollars more) and when I declined he sent me to the second salesman. This one told me the lenses might pop out of the frames and I should get thinner ones. ($100) When I declined he suggest plastic frames and there were only 2 kinds of big, ugly black or white ones available for that price. So their $69 a pair frame selection is extremely limited. The wire ones are all small and basically look the same. Only 2 colored frames. I saw 4 clients pay and it was always in the $300 range. Interestingly you cannot leave comments or reviews on their website.

On Tuesday February 2, I went to pick up two pair of glasses I ordered, first of all they said someone called me regarding coming in to get my glasses. This was a outright lie, I never received a call or miss a call from America's Best. When I arrived at their Office, the young lady could not find my order, even though when I called she said my glasses were waiting for me. It took her a while, but when she found it, one pair was mine and the other pair was not mine. I said, "I did not order these pair of glasses," she said "Let me check," so she check again and there was a single pair in another drawer, which was exactly like the first pair.
I said, "Why would I ordered two pair of glasses the same?" She said "You know what pair you ordered", unfortunately I ordered those glasses two weeks ago, so I could not remember the pair. So, I had to choose another pair of glasses and I am praying this time the prescription for the lenses are correct. The service is poor, they said two pair of glasses for 69.95, but they are not saying there are added cost included. I consider it false advertising.

I went to "America's Best" to get an updated prescription for my contact lenses. I use Acuvue Oasys. I found out after the exam that they don't carry that brand, they have to special order them. They gave me a trial pair of lenses that were not comfortable. I told them "no thanks, I'll just take my prescription and be on my way." They wouldn't give me my prescription because they said I need to go through the "fitting" process.
I've used these contacts for the last 15 years, I think I know by now that they fit. All I want is my prescription so that I can order them online as I have been doing for years. They told me I have to bring in my old prescription from my last eye doctor in order for this doctor to give me the prescription. I went back the next day with the old prescription. The doctor would only write me a prescription for the old exam from the other doctor. So basically I had an eye exam for no reason. My mother to America's Best this morning in Rockville, Maryland because they advertise $69.for two COMPLETE pair of glasses including the eye exam. It was not until AFTER the eye exam, that my mom was informed the prescription she had would not qualify for the deal. In addition, they said the deal was only for the lenses and NOT the frames and that the type of lenses she would require would cost her about $200 for each pair. Since she did NOT get the eyeglasses as at that price because they were way more than she could afford, she was charged $60 for very quick eye exam and then was told that she should go get an eye exam from a qualified ophthalmologist. I believe that they should not have charged her for an eye exam that was not in depth and that should have been free if she had been able to get her two COMPLETE pairs of glasses for $69 as she had intended.

Seven months after getting the second pair the same exact stress cracks appeared again. America's Best refused to do anything about this, despite the fact that these stress cracks are a result of poor manufacturing. They stated that although I was sold a one year warranty, and the second pair of glasses were only seven months old, the original date of purchase was over a year ago and therefore not covered. They found it perfectly acceptable to sell me eyeglasses that cost several hundred dollars that would only last a few months. They told me my recourse was to buy yet another pair of glasses or buy new lenses. There is absolutely no way I will spend another cent at America's Best ever again. What started as a normal Sunday visit for an eye exam and glasses quickly turned into a visit from hell! We called ahead to make an appointment and were informed by one of the associates that the eye exam for contacts (along with the normally free glasses exam) would be free if we said that we were buying two pairs of glasses when we entered. Because of this, we bypassed all the closer businesses and made the trip out from Novi to this specific Livonia location.
Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by a very grumpy doctor. I get that working on the Sunday after Christmas isn't exactly ideal but is that any excuse for horrible customer service? After a very unpleasant eye exam we were informed that the doctor could not write us a contacts prescription because they did not have any record of us ever getting a contacts exam there, even though 1-800 contacts confirmed that they had received the prescription from America's Best. On top of refusing to be any help whatsoever, the doctor and one of the associates even bad-mouthed 1-800 contacts! Excuse me but 1-800 contacts has always provided excellent customer service which is much more than I can say for America's WORST.
Eventually we agreed to come back on another day to complete the contacts exam and then, while searching for glasses and finalizing payment, the associate we were working with said that America's worst did not ever give free contacts exams!! We tried explaining that we were led to believe something different by another associate but that didn't seem to matter. You would think that if a family was about to spend over 300+ on glasses and contacts and was led to believe they were going to get a free contacts exam that a proper company would just give them the free $60 exam. Not America's worst though. There wasn't even a Manager on site so apparently this whole store was being led by incompetent associates.
We eventually walked out refusing to ever do business with America's WORST and I hope anyone who reads this review chooses to do the same. There are plenty of other businesses who treat their customers’ right. We don't need to give our hard-earned money to people who clearly have no respect for their customers.

I went in to America's Best for their 2 pair of bifocals deal. The price was pretty much where I expected it to be with the Transitions added to the lenses. I paid $255 for both pairs - one of them with Transitions and both bifocals. The problem is that they only have these ridiculous short frames instead of larger ones and they do not size them at all. Neither the width of the front piece nor the ear pieces have a size. That is just idiotic as there are so many different head sizes for people.
The other part of the complaint is that the bifocals are way too intrusive. I wanted to be able to look down to see through the bifocals to read things up close. Instead, I have to tilt my head forward so that I do not look through the bifocals more often than not. The women that drew on the lenses free hand to mark where the bifocal top would be does not know what she is doing. She was not the eye doctor she was a sales person.
If the glasses were larger to begin with and the bifocals were put all the way at the bottom the glasses would probably be fine. The combination of the two things makes the glasses give me headaches from looking through the bifocals when I do not want to. Better training and/or let the actual doctor place the bifocals and better frames would be in order. I will go elsewhere in the future.

I was in Maryland a few months ago and purposely visited America's Best for new glasses. The very nice, young (black) male that assisted me, looked up my information in the system and said Ms. ??? The prescription in the glasses is not the same as the doctor prescribed. It appeared America's Best gave me a prescription and cheated me out of one pair of glasses and did not put the prescription in both pair. America's Best really disappointed me. I've been going there for a few years because they have fairly decent prices. I unfortunately lost my sunglasses, which is not unusual for me, and they were prescription glasses. Yesterday I took some of my valuable time to go in and order a pair. I was told that I had to get an eye exam. I asked why and this person said that it was the law. I said, "You're crazy". I said, "I'm a physician". I said no one can mandate that you get medical exams except in a very special conditions.
The Department of Motor Vehicles can mandate an eye exam or the state can mandate that your kids have vaccinations or a school physical but adults can refuse medical care under pretty much any circumstances. In either and still in the case of your children or the DMV you can still refuse the exam but there will be personal consequences such as not driving but you can refuse to get the exam. And the reason they can mandated is that there's an overwhelming public interest that overrides the individual's interest
I asked her to show me the law which it seems to me they should have a summary of on hand because I'm sure they go through this a lot. I said, "Are you going to give me the glasses or not?" She said, "No". Subsequently I called the corporate offices twice and they give me the runaround. I said either the manager didn't know what she was talking about in which case she should not be a manager. Or there was an actual law and that they should be able to tell me what the law is and they couldn't. Or third, I said this is a scam perpetrated by the company. They teach the managers to word it this way to scare you into getting an exam. I am pretty sure it's the last one because they could not satisfy me at all and they had no desire to satisfy me.
I researched, in detail, the Illinois law and there's nothing there about the necessity of getting a yearly exam. One of the women said. "It's corporate policy". I said, “Well, corporate policy is not the law." And then I found out that in my file it says that I had gotten an exam there a year ago and it was written as good for one year. This is an obvious scam and a conflict of interest between their employed optometrist and the company.
So in summary, if it's corporate policy it is not law at least in Illinois it is not a law. The people I talked to in corporate were not in Illinois and yet they gave out general blanket statements about eye care. Eye care is regulated state-by-state. Most importantly the manager of the store said it was a law and gave no other explanation. This is misleading at best and fraud at worst. People have always been dishonest and corporations often deserve their reputations of being dishonest but it seems to be getting worse. Please take control of your eye care and don't be scammed. There are many conditions in which people have to be careful about their eyes and get yearly exams; if you have hypertension or diabetes and other diseases but America's Best is not the one to tell you how to take care of your eyes.

I went with my mom to pick hers up and ask Leslie for a refund on mines since I told her I needed mines back in a timely manner for job purpose. They gave my mom hers (which was someone else glasses) which fell apart.
Leslie ** told me they will send mines via mail when mines is return to the store. A month pass no eye glasses. I went to the store on Saturday, September 12, 2015, to ask and pick up my glasses. My glasses had no lens in it and was broke. The new manager Harold ** who was in trainer at the earlier visits was rude and disregarded me and would not answer any of my question or give me a refund on my mom's glasses nor pay for my eyewear that was a costly ($390) from LensCrafter. So I will have to to seek a claim against American Best, Harold and Leslie to settle this matter.

My young daughter received glasses from the King of Prussia PA store. We worked with Matt and he was truly outstanding. He was patient and kind as he explained her options and fitted her for glasses. A few weeks later we returned for repairs because she was hit with a soccer ball and the glasses were damaged. Matt again took care of us, and even stayed over past his closing time to finish the job. He was able to repair her glasses while we waited, and I was certain they were not salvageable! But he was able to fix them and we were able to go on vacation with working glasses. Matt was extremely professional, skilled, and patient. Our family will buy all of our glasses from this store from now on.

Horrible! Avoid America's Best at all costs. They are absolutely horrible. They prescribed me progressive lens that I did not need (simply because they cost much, much more than regular lenses). The prescription was wrong -- I had one from a different optometrist before the appointment and another one after the appointment and the one from America's Best was incorrect. I spoke with the store manager, and their corporate offices, and they both refused to fix the issue because more than a month had lapsed between writing the incorrect prescription and me complaining about it. This place could care less about providing quality service. It is ONLY concerned with $$$ and maximizing their profits. NEVER go here.

Rude staff, waited 45 minutes when I was first customer there and only customer whole time as soon as they opened. They sent me out the door with someone else's prescription contacts and were rude when I had to come back and exchange for right ones. Absolutely disgusted with this place. Would never recommend to anyone.

These scammers opened up a store across the street from where I live and were running ads touting their "two for $39.95" special. I fell for it. Set up the appointment and went in for my exam. Before I ever saw the optometrist. I had the tech give me the test where I have to look and see the house on the hill come in focus, then they tried the air-puff glaucoma test (I hate it, rather have the Goldmann's tonometer instead). I get talked into the Vision Field Test because they see on my form that I have high blood pressure. I don't pass it and I get told that could be a serious problem.
I finally see the optometrist. I do the phoropter and then the fun begins...the slit lamp test. She gets mad that my pupil is contracting. (I couldn't do dilation because nobody was with me to drive me back) and is yelling "LOOK AT MY EAR" while she is doing it. She gets exasperated and tells me I will have to come back and be dilated. I then go to get my glasses. That's when I find out the deal is BS. I end up getting one pair for $180 and naturally, I will have to wait maybe 2 weeks. For years I went to VisionWorks and would get my glasses the same day.
Saturday morning, I get a call, my glasses are ready. I go. The prescription is not that different and they keep slipping off my face. I am reminded to set an appointment for a dilation exam. I am told that when I come in on Tuesday (the day I was browbeaten to come in for the dilation) I should be able to get the prescription adjusted (and wait another 10-14 days). Wife is with me and as soon as we are out of the building, we head straight to VisionWorks where I SHOULD have gone before. I get an exam when I go in, get a Goldmann's tonometer instead of the air-puff, get dilated, no problems with retina. In fact, my eyes have gotten better. They didn't have the frame I wanted, but that will be read in a few days, not 10-14. America's Best...what a joke.

This review is specifically about the Colonial Heights, Va. store. I did not even get as far as having my eye appointment or ordering contacts; this review is about the chaos taking place in the store and the complete lack of professionalism exhibited by the manager on duty Saturday, October 17th 2015. When I entered the store, there were about 4-5 customers with family members waiting. At least 2 employees were up front, and one man waiting was getting agitated and began cussing loud enough that all could hear, including the children. After standing 7 minutes with no acknowledgement that I was there (two employees were helping other clients) I moved toward the back to get away from the cussing.
When it continued to escalate, one of the employees tried to address the man's concerns. She did everything right -- she listened, responded with "yes, sir," told him she would help him, but apparently he just really wanted to put on a show because he continued to cuss and then demanded to know where the bathroom was. While he was in the bathroom, the manager appeared, approached her employee, and asked what the problem was. The girl was clearly rattled by the confrontation and said she was not comfortable helping the man because he was cussing at her. The manager loudly scolded the employee and sent her to the back.
When the man came out of the bathroom ranting "**" every other word, I had had enough (and I had not been acknowledged after waiting patiently for 15 minutes) and I said to the man, "Excuse me, sir, you need to leave this store immediately. You are being very disrespectful to everyone here." Of course he challenged me and proceeded to cuss, but this would have been a great chance for management to take over. I approached the manager as the man walked toward the front cussing, and told her she should call the police if the man refused to leave.
What she did next stunned me. Instead of defending her customers, she ignored everyone waiting patiently and asked in a sweet voice how she could help this clearly irrational and out of control man. I was so stunned that the man, who could have become violent and was already verbally abusive, got his way with his tantrum. The rest of us were ignored. An employee who had been cussed at was sent away as if she had done something wrong. When the manager ignored me and catered to the rude customer, I decided I was the one who needed to leave. If you want to be able to walk around, cuss, and have a temper tantrum like a bad child, this America's Best is the place for you. If you just stand politely and wait to be acknowledged, you need to find another store.

I'm not one to take time to do these things, but I think the public should know about this business. I made an appointment for an exam and 2 pairs of glasses for $69.95. I think they worded the deal, "2 glasses with a free exam for $69.95". Now, I have regular lenses, nothing special. I picked out my 2 frames under the "$69.95" shelf, and sat down to go over everything and to pay. Now, I know I would have to pay a little more because I got sunglasses and that needed a tint, plus my regular glasses needed anti-glare. I'm thinking, maybe $125? $150? That's fair, right? I'm not looking to get a free ride, people need to get paid. No... they charged me $215.95 PLUS the $45 exam fee!!! FALSE ADVERTISING!
While I started to ask why it was so much, the guy helping me was very condescending and borderline passive aggressive. It takes me a lot to start to get angry, and this was one of those moments. I never lost my cool. I simply stood up and said that I didn't want to pay that much, so I just paid $45 for the eye exam. He was very indignant as we left, and VERY unprofessional. This was the Raleigh, NC store.
