You pays your money, and takes your chance, is how the gamblers say it. But you really don't have a chance here. You never did. Google says these people are at a 2.2 rating which is horrible. Do not be fooled by the reviews rating that they post which is still quite low around 3.0 - I don't know where they got these numbers for their reviews, or where the reviews are? Oh wait a minute the reviews rating is in their own advertising and not Google maps. Pretty tricky.
There is "No Optician on duty here so you can't have your glasses." "No we don't have a regular optician, but there are a few licenses floating around here." The girl who owns today's licenses was misdirected to Durham and may be here this morning, we've left a voicemail." "No we can't just send them to you, that's not allowed - you will have to come back again." "Well, no I won't. I will not jump through hoops for you, please just give me my glasses (plastics) that I've paid for and you called me and said they are ready?" "No glasses for you (soup **)."
When you go there use a PayPal card so you can file your dispute easily when you get disappointed like I and so many others have been. There is so much to say about how I was treated initially that it should be another review. If you've been in the military, and have been treated like cattle by doctors before you know what I mean. All those people work here now. You don't need to understand what's happening, just move along.
These were my first glasses, which I still don't have. I expected to be led to a good buying decision with the chance for asking questions, and receiving assurance and advice about what I needed. No help with frames or even a question about sizes or style, or tension, or sunglasses. I expected to spend money and start a relationship with my new optician. I had a list of the different kinds I would need for driving, sun driving, reading, sun reading.... but I was hustled out with a 84.95 bill and two pair of plastics to be ordered. So if you feel lucky, and you are willing to bet your eyes or those of your children, then this is the place to go. I wonder if this lottery contributes to the NC education fund?

I have been with them for over 20 years. My last appointment they fitted me with glasses. After 4 months the film came off. I took them back and they said they were in the guaranty time period. I got a new pair. Now it's been 4 months again and the film is coming off again! I purchased their glass cleaner and have used it faithfully for this time. I know they will tell me they can't or won't help me. I will let you know.

I would never go to America's Best again. The information regarding the return of your eyeglasses is false. They tell you that they will be ready within 7 to 10 business days. I called back several times to check if my son's glasses were there but was told that they do not know when they would be there (at this time it had been 3 weeks later). Then, I asked for the manager's name and to speak to the manager. I was told that the manager was not there and that he would be back in tomorrow around 9 am or 10 am. I called the next day and was told again that he was not there so the assistant manager tells me that my son's glasses were being shipped from Mexico and they were not sure when they would arrive. What? I think that if the customer service would make you aware that your glasses would be sent from Mexico then I would have been able to decide if I wanted to continue with the process of this transaction.

I made an eye exam appointment for my daughter on 9/12/15. Our appointment was for 9:20 am and we got lost, so we called to ask them where they were located in the mall and the Associate that answered the phone was asking all kinds of questions instead of just giving us the directions to their location in Winter Garden, Florida. We finally get there and it is now 9:30 am and the Associate at the front desk says we are not listed on the schedule. So, we proceeded to show her the email confirmation stating the appointment was confirmed. Then she said "give me one moment", went to the back of the store and then came back to say that the store manager cancelled our appointment because we were 10 minutes late.
This was the worst customer service I have ever encountered at any eyeglass facility. Mind you this was our first visit here. I will never recommend any of these stores to any family or friends. Please be aware of this horrible customer service. I take this as a sign from above, since I see all the bad reviews about the eye exam and eyeglass services at these locations all over the country.

I had an examination on September 12, 2015, at the Kennesaw location in Georgia. I was told over the phone that my examination with a pair of glasses and contact lenses will be only $79. Well, what I am surprised, I received when I checked out. They told me that my exam, lenses and a pair of glasses were $289. I told the tech, when I called on Tuesday, I was told only $79. I was very angry. I didn't pay the $289, I ended up paying $165, that's because it didn't get the glasses.

They called me the same day they saw I wrote a review. The store manager said sorry. I had a new box of contacts ready to be picked up at the store within 24-48 hours.
Original Review: Sept. 11, 2015
Ok. For me to even be online typing up a review is totally not me. I am reasonable. People make mistakes. No one is perfect. Being in management and working in the customer service field, I am shocked by the customer service I have received from this dump. The people here need more training, or they are either just ignorant, or rude! They messed up on my order, and it has been almost two weeks, and now I'm told I have to wait longer. When I called and asked to speak to a manager, I was told to call a 1800 number... AFTER having to wait 18 minutes for them to figure out who I was.
I had a lady come back and forth on the phone asking what my name was several times, said she couldn't find me or didn't know how to find me. Do you know how irritating it is to wait five minutes... ten minutes... another five minutes... just for someone to get back on the phone, ask your name, say hold on, get put on hold for minutes, only waiting to have the same person get back on the phone several times, asking what my name is?? A week prior to this HUGE INCONVENIENCE, I called and asked how long it would take to ship contacts to my home, if I ordered online? I had a lady put me on hold for a quick second, and she got back on the phone and said after looking up my address, it would take one to two days max. I order the colors (prescription-ed) and I asked if they had any clear temp. ones for my eyesight that I can use until the order comes in. I was told yes.
I then told the lady instead of shipping to my home, I will go to the location directly (AMERICA'S BEST CONTACTS AND EYEGLASSES 780 East Rd to Six Flags) and just pay for my order, and at the same time get the clear prescription-ed temp pair to use. I paid for my order, WAS FACE TO FACE TOLD AND LIED TO THAT I WOULD GET THEM IN A COUPLE DAYS, and I even have a receipt stating I would get them by Sept 7th, 8th being the latest, because of the 7th being labor day. Yesterday, Sept 10th, I called and wondered how come I haven't gotten a call or why they weren't in yet. After dealing with the unprofessional, rude, and boring/annoyed tone of voice lady/child/kid that took my calls trying to figure out who I was for over 15 minutes, she finally came back and said it would be shipped in 7-10 business days.
EXCUSE ME?! I was told I would have them back earlier this week, two - Why would you ship them, when I said I would pick up in store (like I was told and like my receipt says) Three - If I did chose to have it shipped, why am I being told 7-10 business days, and a week ago, told that if I did WANT to have it shipped it would be no longer than two days. SHOCKED, ANGRY AND UNSATISFIED - I asked to talk a manager. I was told to call a 1800 number and I can track my order because no one wanted to take my call because everyone was busy. Since I have no explanation and no good reasoning to why my contacts that HELP ME SEE AND SOMETHING SO IMPORTANT TO ONE are taking SO LONG, I'm assuming, and I'm 99% sure, they did not order or forgot to order my contacts on the first week of September when I went.
A simple apology or someone more comforting and professional on the other side would have been more of a better experience. Now I am still waiting for my contacts that will take up to almost 3 weeks total of wait time until I get them, and that's if I will really get them by 7-10 business days, since I am unsure of the real shipping waiting time, since I was told 1-2 days another time. Will not be going back! EVER. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR ANYONE WHO IS VALUED OF THEIR TIME, DOES NOT WANT TO BE LIED TO, EXPECTS DECENT CUSTOMER SERVICE... ETC. From, a very upset customer that is still waiting on contacts.

I went in and waited forever. Didn't have a problem with that. I specifically asked for glasses that wouldn't scratch. Asked for Crizal lenses and Transitions lenses on both pairs. The lady didn't explain to me that they would be plastic and would scratch. A nose clip had fallen off and they fell off my face twice and I went in today which I just left and said, "No, we can't do nothing. You're better off getting another lens." Then she said with a smirk on her face, "Remember if they're not in your face they should be in their case," like that was funny or my fault I dropped my glasses. I wasn't expecting them to fall apart. I spent 250 out of pocket which my insurance covered another 250. So yea bad customer service.

When they came in they again were totally wrong. Even the eye doctor they referred me to said "don't go to America's Best" and they laughed. I demanded all my money back included the field test! I waited 4 weeks for glasses I couldn't use and all my time and gas back and forth. Save yourself the trouble and go some place else.

My wife and I went to get an eye exam and fitted for glasses and contact lens. The eye exam was very routinely conducted and afterwards, my wife and I paid over $500 for glasses they said we needed. When the glasses arrived, they were incorrect and were worthless. I went back for contact lens and we're told that I needed another exam. I left their store with nothing except an unpleasant experience. This place is a ripoff. Stay away from this place.

I'd like to start by saying I was a previous customer of America's Best and had the 5 yr plan. So I decided to do it again and this time I had an awful experience. First the exam was 5 min long and it was 45 min after my appt time. When I got my trial contacts, I knew right away something was not right and they were not helpful. They told me to just get used to them. I tried wearing them and had to remove them about an hour into it. Went for a follow up and had a re-exam. The dr was short with me and I was waiting again for about 2 hours and had an appt.
The customer service is not that great and when I called to tell them the dr adjusted my prescription so the lens in the eye glasses I ordered will be wrong, they told me to wait and see. I called back again and told them I would like the new lens in my glasses and was told no. I am beyond furious and regret that I went there. Once a happy customer not any longer. I've had nothing but issues with them for the last month and still don't feel they got my prescription correct and I am going to have to go pay to have it redone elsewhere. I wouldn't go there unless you have no other option.

First off, I want to start by saying that their stores are filthy! Very disgusting and dirty place. The staff is very unfriendly and unprofessional. They have inexperienced Opticians helping you with your eyeglasses. They must just hire anyone and train them to sell (and upsell) because when I went in to get my progressive eyeglasses checked not even one Optician knew what to do, or how to check the prescription on my eyeglasses and they refused to let me see doctor to get the prescription checked. They kept saying they will "adjust" my eyeglasses to see if it helped, but they were horrible at adjusting and doing their job. Their frames are cheaply made and not durable (even some designer). Mine started peeling off the same week and I take good care of my eyeglasses. Do not waste your money in this ** company, it is NOT worth it.
I was never able to get my eyeglasses or prescription right and wasted over $400 for nothing, and no one ever bothered to do something about it, not even management. They just have an arrogant and unprofessional manager. Go to LensCrafters or somewhere else, it is a bit more expensive for their same day service but it's well worth it and at least they are professional and their Opticians and management are professional, well trained, and know how to do their job professionally. I would not recommend America's Best to anyone. I haven't been the only one with a bad experience with this company. Many friends and relatives experienced something similar or worse and we are NOT coming back or recommending this crappy company to anyone. Do not waste your time or money here.

I went in to AB for an eye exam and glasses. Went to pick up my 2 pair of glasses went back not even a week later as one pair was good, I could see out of it, but the second pair I could not see. They told me then that they made one pair off the new prescription and the other pair off my old glasses. I said, "why?" They said some people have a hard time adjusting to bifocal. I told them I paid for 2 new pair of glasses with the new prescription and that is what I want. So they sent them back again. I have been in there 4 times to have them adjust them - the legs are too long, so they bend them and now they stick out too far.
I then went to another AB and order new frames and glasses. When I got them, they were not the frames I had ordered. So they then re-ordered one pair as they couldn't find the other frame I had ordered. So I went back to swap out the lens in the one pair I didn't order for the one pair they ordered. Then I couldn't see out of the bifocal, they had put them on the wrong side. So now there again, I have to go back and have them change them around. All these mistakes are their fault and I will never go back. They say you get what you pay for. The nosepiece hurt my nose and gave me headaches, so they changed it. Well it wasn't any better and it broke. What gets me is that no one takes responsibility for their mistakes, they blame it on the other person.

I went to your Bellingham location yesterday and had an eye exam and bought 2 pair of glasses. I just wanted you to know every person in that location was really great. They were so helpful. I walked in the door and immediately the person at the desk welcomed me and got me started. Then the next person called my name in less than 5 minutes. She took me back to the first room and did her part by doing the preliminary tests. When we finished, she took me to the waiting room. Again I was there for less than 5 minutes and the doctor came. After the exam she took me back to the entrance where all the frames were located. I picked out my frames and the sales rep took great care of me. The whole thing was a great experience. I don't know how the actual glasses will be, but I will let you know.

I went to America's Best for eyeglasses after getting contacts from a different source. I was told over the phone that the advertisement was accurate. After waiting a half hour while the exam staff had a 30 minute social conversation with the door open I went to the desk to inquire if the 2 pair for $69.95 was a true and accurate statement and was summarily informed that the exam was free, the eyeglasses were $59.00 but the prescription could start at $160.00 on the low end. So we're spending $200.00 walking in the door even before we get to purchase glasses other than the cheap $59.00 in the false promotion. I asked again about the price and why I had to wait 40 minutes for an appointment that I needed to arrive 15 minutes early for. It was a good decision to ask about their policy before giving them any banking or credit information. My appointment was canceled immediately and I went back to my previous doctor.

It was outrageous the way she over and over argued with me. Finally said, "I will GIVE you that!" I paid for this purchase and warranty! My glasses finally broke on Saturday night (bought at America's Best 3 or so years ago). Sunday morning I started checking America's Best locations and found 2 that were open on Sunday. I scheduled an appointment online at the location in Crestwood, MO. I also checked out the reviews that were posted and got a bit uneasy because of all of the negative ones. I got to the store a few minutes late and it was very crowded. The receptionist informed me that it would be a little bit and had me fill out the paperwork.
After that I started looking at frames, found 2 that I liked and was then called back for the first exam. Went back to the waiting area and was quickly called back by the doctor. She was AWESOME. I don't believe I have ever had such a thorough exam including explanations. It was then time to order the glasses. The girl taking care of me was also very helpful and patient. There was absolutely NO PRESSURE to upgrade or buy the more expensive things. I am looking forward to getting my new glasses. I would recommend this store to all.

I went to the store at Wood Village, Or. I got great customer service. The first day I went to my appointment a little early. They told me to go ahead and choose my frames (I was getting the two pair bi-focals for 99.95). A few minutes after that I was taken for my exam. I only waited a short time for someone to come and measure the bifocal lines. That was on July 25th. They said it would be the 10th of Aug. when my glasses would come in and I got a call on the 4th that they were ready and I could come in that same day to get them and get any needed adjustments. They were very busy but I only waited about 15 minutes. I got excellent service and was told I could come in any time if I needed further adjustments or any other type of help. Now the lenses are so scratched again, I am forced to wear my old glasses (about 4 years old) until I can get back to my eye doctor and get a new script. I read some of the negative reviews, I would not get an appointment at my eye doctor. I had my prescription so I only needed one pair of glasses. I knew I had a astigmatism and moderate numbers that put me out of the Deal. 2 pairs for 69.99. When I was approached by the receptionist I told her I would need the thinner polycarbonate lenses due to my prescription. She was informative and told me that that lens cost 90.00 dollars plus the 60.00 for frames. The total would be 150.00. She then showed me the frames available. She then said "take your time and pick one you like."
After fitting the glasses, I ask "how much for a second pair?" I was informed that a second pair would only cost me 50.00 dollars more so I went ahead and bought the second pair. I was pleasantly surprised at how friendly and not pushy and made me relaxed as a customer. I would not of been more happy about my experience. Do your homework. Bring your prescription because unless you have a very slight eye prescription you will be paying the minimum of at least 150.00. But know why you want expect to drop a 150.00 not 69.99 as advertised. Do your due diligence and you should have a good experience.

I purchased two pairs of trifocals at the store in Vestal, NY. I could not see well with either pair. After 3 - 4 trips to the store (I live 45 minutes away), I had my ophthalmologist's office compare their script to America's Best (AB). They were very different. The exam at AB was not as thorough as my eye doctor's was. AB stuck to their policy and were kind enough to get me new lenses with my doctor's script. The script works much better for me. I had to go in twice to pick them up as I received a recorded message the first time which I was not supposed to get. Only one pair was there. When I had the person check the fit, she was so rushed as others were out and the store was very busy. My primary pair did not fit well. I made some adjustments myself and finally got them to feel good and fit well.
When I went in to get my sunglasses, I asked the gentleman helping me to replace one of the nose pads. He went to the counter and when he came back, they didn't fit or feel good! I asked him why. He said he adjusted the bows and other things. I kept my composure, but I was FURIOUS. He played with them a couple more times. I knew they were still not right. After shopping in the area, I came back. He looked at them and said there was a dirt on one lens. He cleaned them and asked me if the glasses were ok. They were NOT ok, but I knew he had no idea how to make adjustments. He said to come back if I needed to. At that point, I decided I would never walk in that store again.
Everyone is very nice there, but I feel there is a lack of professionalism. I feel that AB might be good for a person with a single script. But I wear bifocals and have astigmatism. I will be going to my eye doctors office to get the glasses adjusted.

Doctor Thomas ** at the Tatum and Thunderbird branch in Phoenix, AZ is the stupidest eye doctor I have ever come across in my life. Firstly, he will make you visit the office several times before you can even get your prescription. Secondly, I told him several times to prescribe me Acuvue Advanced. The only reason he won't is because they are discontinued and he can't make money at this office by prescribing them. I told him several times that 1-800-Contacts have the contacts I want in stock and I have worn them and never had issues with them. Unlike Acuvue 2 (that he did prescribe) which makes my eyes dry. When I told him that the Acuvue 2 contacts make my eyes dry, he told me to wear my glasses and not wear contacts for more than 3-4 hours a day. WHAT THE F??? What an idiot!!!
And Sue, who answers the phone is just as stupid or stupider than the doc. She would ask 3-4 times what your name is when you call and then she won't be able to find the records anyway and ask you to come in person... like no one has a life and visiting the office 5-10 times is normal. I have already paid them for the contacts prescription, so now the only choice I have is to go to Walmart and pay another eye doctor to give me the prescription I want. Trust me... run the other way! Their deals are a complete waste of time and the customer service is horrible. Go to a Walmart eye doctor.

How dare you care more about locking your door on time than caring for new customers needing care. America's Best my foot. More like America's Worse. America's Best is about opportunity for all by any means necessary. It's about being willing to sacrifice self for the better of all. This company does NOT represent America's Best. Since they are more concerned with locking doors on time, do NOT give your business to them and help them from having to ever unlock again!!!!!!

After 1 year and 3 mos the earpiece on my sunglasses I purchased at America's Best broke. The break was where the metal of the earpiece met the plastic that goes around the ear. We knew the 1-year warranty on the frames had expired so did not expect them to replace the frames. We did, however, think they would consider ordering an earpiece and replacing the broken part at a reasonable cost to us. That did not happen. The ONLY thing they offered was a pair of new frames for $99.00 and would NOT discuss it any further. He asked to speak to the manager and the person he was speaking to said, I am the manager. Another close by employee offered up, "Have a nice day!" as he turned to leave. Additional insult!!! Would never, NEVER do business with this company again.

This has been a 1 star experience at best. I walked into the store a few days before just to see if I liked any glasses they had. Nobody greeted me, nobody offered any help, nobody acknowledged my presence. This in itself should have been a red flag. But unfortunately, I returned to get my eye exam and two pairs of glasses. Once again, nobody greeted or acknowledged me in any way. I waited 10 minutes just to talk to someone to get started. I knew what frames I wanted and what I thought would be an hour at most turned into over two hours of waiting and standing around. Five minutes was for the actual eye exam. After waiting, and waiting, I finally sat down with somebody to show them the frames and what I wanted done to them. And the woman sits there and talks smack on the customer before me. Did she talk about me to the next customer as well?
After listening to her gossip and get her computer ready, I showed her the frames I wanted. I specifically said, "I do not want anything done to the lenses" on one of the frames. I paid $45 for glare protection on the other pair. I chose the $99 frames and the $60 frames for a total of what was advertised being around $130. So here I am thinking with the glare protection my total will be $175. Wrong. It was $310. The woman told me the lenses were $135. At this point I was completely annoyed and did not have time to argue because we had to pick up the kids from daycare. They give you an overview of what you were charged for only after you pay. And what do you know, I was charged $45 for the extra stuff I specifically said I did not want on the one pair of glasses.
Bottom line, what is advertised is not happening, even when you read the fine print and let them know you want the single vision lenses that are advertised. And what's more, when they say 7-10 days, apparently that isn't happening either. It is now day 11 or 12, I've received no phone call letting me know my glasses are there. I've called 6 times over the course of the morning only to get a busy tone every time. I'm fed up with this place, this is my second time going to them and it will be my last. I would gladly pay a little more to not have to deal with incompetent, seemingly antisocial employees who make it apparent that they hate their jobs.

Then the other employee told me that they don't have time for this. Took them out for me and told me to leave and come back in 2 days to retake it.
I don't want to go back. That was the worst experience I've ever had at a store. I was crying afterwards humiliated and embarrassed. I've never used contacts. I wanted a change instead I got was rudeness and embarrassment. Do not go to this awful place. They all don't know what they are doing. I'm amazed at all these locations that are charging extra or giving horrible customer service! I've been to my location twice now and have been pretty satisfied with my care. The doctor took his time to examine my eyes and make sure he was accurate. I was called for my appointment on time and was not overcharged. I paid exactly 69.95 for my two pairs and free exam. Some people don't read the boards and pick glasses for a more expensive deal thinking all glasses on display are for the $69 deal.
I will say, however, that I agree with how rude the employees can be. I went in to get my glasses fixed (they fixed my husbands so I figured they would fix mine) and the lady wouldn't even look at me and very rudely said, "We don't fix glasses. It's not like we're a lab." So I asked her if she could recommend a lab and she just completely ignored me, so I left. The last time I went in a week ago, though, everyone was very nice and actually conversed with me. I'm sorry everyone on here has had such horrible service. :(

Went to this store mostly because it was convenient to where I was located. Ended up having to go back 3 times so far, and from what I can tell it will take two more trips before they get it right. I've renewed my glasses 4 times over the years, and this is the worst experience I've had to date. The doctor was good, and the lady that did the exam was professional and personal. But the staff out front where you pick the glasses out and order sucks. If they spent half as much time listening to the customers as they do talking and laughing with each other, they would be a lot better off.
First of all, I went in to replace glasses I already liked but had broken the frames. Got told they looked bad on me. Guess what, it's my face. I showed them my sunglasses so that I would get them dark as I wanted ( 50%). When I finally got the glasses they had the wrong lenses. Then when I said something, I was told my glasses had faded and I didn't know what I was talking about. Again, it's my face, my eyes, and I should know what I wanted. Whatever happened to the customer's right? I got so mad that I walked out of the store.
I still have to go back and get the right lenses. But once I get what I ordered, it will be the last time I walk through the doors. So much for going there because of convenience. I could have driven out of state and been better off. Unless you are looking for someone to talk to you like you're stupid, and treat you like you're bothering them, stay away from this place, I'm just saying.

Clerk tried both pair on me and measured the fit. She then ordered my "office" pair twice. When I called to ask for a resolution, I was blamed for the error in several ways - "Didn't you check the order?", "Didn't you notice when you picked them up?", "** does not make mistakes, it must have been confusing when she was worked with you."
I was told I could come back and start over. I said "thanks but I just will not use you again." Why would I? I spent over 3 hours with them for what was 20 minutes of actual service and am blamed for the mistake they made. With prescription in hand, I had already ordered 2 additional pairs with much nicer frames for less than 1/2 what I paid at Americas Best. I scheduled an appointment nearly a month in advance. Although I was about 20 minutes early for my appointment, I was given a couple of short forms to fill out and was seen right away. I went for the two pairs for $69.95 deal, with a free eye exam. It had been nearly two decades since my last eye exam, no optical insurance to speak of, so this was right up my alley. I think the confusion with this deal comes with the fact that the deal comes with the frames and BASIC lenses. Anything beyond that (special coatings, higher end frames, etc.) is gonna cost more.
Before my scheduled visit, I went to their website to get an estimate for what exactly I needed to pay for the type of lenses, coating, frames, etc. I wanted (in the event that I actually needed glasses). I wanted the basic lenses with a scratch resistant coating and an anti-reflective coating, and the cost for that (including tax) was $167.95, according to the pricing online. I also wanted the field exam to check for any blockages due to diseases or any other conditions. This was not including with the free exam, so that cost $15. All in all, I went into my appointment expecting (and willing) to pay $182.95.
As I mentioned earlier, the eye exam was done rather quickly. The optometrist ended up recommending the anti-reflective coating (which I had planned to get without this recommendation if I needed glasses) along with my prescription, but I was by no means obligated to get it. It was a Saturday afternoon and the lobby was relatively full, and it took a while for the sales clerk to get around to helping me order my frames and lenses, but it did give me ample time to try out different frames. Although the website has an amazing tool for online tryouts, the frames I thought I wanted were not the frames I ended up purchasing. So don't just go by the online tryout without actually trying the frames for yourself.
My total with my chosen frames, plus the scratch resistant and anti-reflective coatings for both pairs of glasses ended up being $179.75, slightly less than what I was prepared to pay. Overall, I'm satisfied with the efficiency as well as the prices. My only complaint is the timing, because it takes 7-10 business days for your glasses to arrive. However, each order is customized down to the frames, so I do understand the wait. I'd recommend this to anyone without optical insurance. It really is your best bet when it comes to pricing. There are also packages and warranties you can purchase along with your glasses, but I just wasn't interested.

Ok so I went to America's Best in Pittsburgh PA (Robinson township). Today was my exam and so far I am quite pleased with everything. My Dr was very nice and patient with me and also informed me that I have astigmatism, which no other eye dr has done in all the yrs I've been going. Mind you I only need glasses for driving and reading and I refuse to put anything in my eyes such as contacts but it's still nice to know. I went for the deal - purchase 2 pairs of glasses for $69.95 and receive a free eye exam, which is exactly what I got. I had previously picked out my glasses online and uploaded a photo of myself onto their website so I could see how they looked so I was fairly prepared. The one pair I picked weren't on the shelf so the lady dug them out for me. I was also 20 mins late for my appointment and I called to let them know there was traffic due to an accident. The lady said they were a little backed up and wasn't sure she could fit me in.
When I got there I got in and they were very nice about it all. I could see how a few ladies could be short with customers but overall they weren't outright rude. They also explained to me that if I needed bifocals the cost would be more, I was told that from the beginning. They also offered other services and exams that could be more, which I opted out of and that was fine. There were no hidden fees in my case and I'm thinking most people add things without questioning if there's an extra cost for these extra services. I was told my glasses could take 7-14 days to get here so I don't know about that aspect yet. I also loved the choice of frames I had for the price. The dr was nice and all employees asked if I had any questions on my way out, including the dr.
So far I've had a good experience and I'll let you know more when my glasses arrive and I get them. Just a theory here but I think if more people paid attention to what they were getting and asked more questions maybe you'd be aware of any extra costs on your bill. Also it is hard being in customer service at times and people do make mistakes, as long as they try to fix the issue that's ok.

So I chose my frames, two pairs from the cheap rack, single vision lenses, standard Cr39 (my prescription is less than 2 diopters) no coatings or any other options, just basic plastic lenses, and the total was $150 with taxes and things.
There was no explanation. Nobody went over the price breakdown with me. I am a long time zenni customer, but I needed to get a new prescription, so I needed to visit an optometrist anyway, and I would have taken the two pairs for $69.99 with a free eye exam. There was no explanation. Nobody went over the price breakdown with me. I know these guys are not zenni. I know that they have to pay staff and keep the lights on, pay property taxes and heat the joint, I get that. I will even agree that at $150 it would have been 'good value' by most people's standards. What I don't like is the deceptive practices. I am now convinced that there isn't really a two pairs for $69 deal. It comes down to if it seems to be too good to be true, it probably is. I paid my $45 fee for the eye exam (which I was very pleased with) and went home to order my glasses online.

On March 7th I visited the Mansfield store and purchased a pair of glasses and sunglasses. They charged me $200 for a purchase totaling $254. So I owed them $54, and I would receive my glasses in two weeks. That was great and wasn't a problem. Then on Mar 16th, I suddenly found another $200 charge on my bank account crediting America's Best Contacts (ABC). The following day I contacted ABCs Mansfield Store and asked about the charge and was informed that they did not charge my account, and they denied having my funds. I sent copies of my bank account with the charges clearly showing who received the funds, but they still denied making the charge. They told me that they had checked with their banking dept. and they did not have the funds.
Then I contacted the Customer Service Dept. at the corporate office went through the same discussion with the same results, they denied everything. At that point, I contacted my bank and disputed the charge with them, and was informed that they would pursue the matter with VISA and the store, and let me know when they reached a resolution. I did not want to go to the store to demand a refund because I felt that they would just take another $200 out of my account when they choose to. This additional charge was made without me scanning my card, without entering my PIN number anywhere, and certainly without my permission. I wanted to know how this could happen without any of the normal banking procedures being followed but I never received a response from either Americas Best Contacts or my bank.
Now, on April 2nd, I received a call from the Mansfield store and was told that they had received the additional funds. Almost a month later, they admitted that they had taken the funds, but never explained how. They did say that they were mailing me a refund check for the $200, and that they were sending my original order of glasses and sunglasses via UPS. I have received my glasses, etc. but not the check. Of course, I realize that I did not have to pay the last $54 that I owed for the order, but I don’t like the idea of paying $400 for a $254 order, not to mention the stress and aggravation I experienced with this entire ordeal. I am still waiting for the refund check...

Recent local tv station had an ad for America's Best, shouting about these great deals for eyeglasses; 2 pairs for $99 with a free eye exam! It was too short an ad to get the phone number, so I searched around and found several area offices. Calling them, making an appt. for the eyeglass exam; which I also need since the Optical lobby paid off our congress to force Americans into bi-annual $100 eye exams! No other country does this, you Americans may not know!
After getting directions for my appt; I mentioned how I have astigmatism and have to wear no line bifocals; then the truth came out: the agent told me that no line bifocal would probably cost more in the range of $400 or more, with the frames, lenses and eye exam! They continue to advertise falsely online, with the same false come on to shoppers; even down to a $39 pair of glasses! They have $69 for 2 pairs also advertised on Yahoo search engines, and fill up the search results pages with just their many false ads.

Although we received glasses at a slightly lower price than we would have elsewhere, they fail to honor the advertised "69.95 for a full set of glasses including single vision lenses." The price given to me for 2 pairs of glasses was first 286.00, saying my doctor prescribed plastic lenses. I asked how to get the price down to the advertised price, the salesperson offered me glass lenses for a small cost savings. I had to sign a waiver to receive these glass lenses, and two complete sets of single vision glasses were now 218. There were so many ridiculous reasons why the full set didn't apply, we lost track. They need to stop advertising this deal.

February 9, 2015, I paid for 2 pair of glasses for 69.00. My glasses came back week and 1/2, but stuff printed was wrong on right eye, instant headache when trying them on. The prescription was to be .5, the worker typed in a 1.5. So the store keep my glasses. I was called in about a week half later, the store tried to only give me right eye lenses. I asked for my complete glasses 2 pair, to come find out they lost them. Manager was to reorder them. I get a call another week later saying my glasses were in, no glasses again. Just lenses, manager said she ordered them, but however, order was never put in.
Manager say she was ordering my glasses again. I go in 2 weeks later asking about my glasses. No order was placed. I am getting headache over the process. I have not received my glassed over a month. Out the blue I get a call, on March 25, 2015, that I have 1 pair glasses is done at Walmart in another city. They are ready for pick up, I am highly confused. I call America's Best Eyeglasses and go into figure out what is going on. No one knew... They contact manager, later manager calls store. She order 1 pair from Walmart. She was upset Walmart contacted me, because she wanted to pick them up and give them to me at America's Best Eyeglasses, and I would have no clue they came from Walmart.
The worst about this, I am refused any information regarding my glasses, cost of purchase, if insured or protected or by whom, because Walmart say I didn't order them... Last, it is March 27, 2015... I am still waiting for my glasses from America's Best Eyeglasses. I paid a total of $94.95. With insurance on one pair of glasses. I feel the whole process I was wronged, lied too, ran in circles, deceived, false advertisement, bad sales, never received the product I purchased. And have no access to information of the glasses purchased from Walmart and the prescription feels like I am walking on waves on an ocean. My experience was the worst service I have ever seen. Still waiting for glasses.

They cancelled the one a week after I got them and wrote me up for the two pair. Great service, great employees, great manager, two great pair of glasses... Whoot hoot!!

The manager was rude and became even more abrasive when I asked for a refund. The frames can be bought online so I couldn't see what the problem was, other than the manager was a jerk. The girl at the front desk was incompetent also. America's Best, 19 NW Barry Rd Kansas City is the worst ever.

My experience with America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses on Veterans Pkwy was very very unprofessional. The eye exam was as if I was a grocery item being scanned. The quicker they finished, the more customers they could go through. The sales gimmick of 2 pair of glasses for $99.00 should be considered fraud. The Dr. Who gives the exams should be investigated. The ploy of luring customers in and charging at least three times over the advertised price should be illegal and they should be held accountable. They operate this business like an assembly line with no care for your true prescription. They double charged me for an exam that was advertised as free when purchasing 2 pair of glasses. The glasses I received were terrible when trying to see close up or far away. Makes me think they got my script mixed up with someone else's.
When I expressed the problem I was having they were rude as if it was my fault. I picked up the glasses on a Friday and returned them the following Monday. Finally after treating me worse than I've ever been treated at any store they gave me a partial refund attempting to charge me again for the exam I'd already paid for but by then I was determined they not rip me off any more. Instead of $90.00 for the exam they finally gave me back $45.00 they had overcharged. This was today 03/16/15. They told me the $270.00 they charged me would be back in my account in 3 to 7 days. If it's not, I will file a claim against them, report them to the BBB, and do everything I can to tell as many people as I can about how they conduct their business. Please don't go there for your eye needs or you'll be sorry. Just saying.

When I went in, very nice people but the results at the end were the worst I've ever had!!! I live on a tight budget so therefore I use my tax money for extras. Went with $500, could have used more if I needed it. I was told total price was $240. When I received my glasses, I could see everything far away but not up close unless I took them off. I went in, got them checked and was told I was borderline of needing bifocals, that I was gonna have to deal with them or pay more money to get them right. I proceeded to tell the lady that I did not come there with 250 and that was all I could afford; that they should be responsible for making them right because I had taken the extra money and paid other things. I went home, called the 800 # and got nowhere. With my job, I do not have time to take them on or off or keep switching between two pair of seeing up close or far away.
So now I struggle to see, keeping headaches and have to wait another year to get glasses after it had already taken 5. I have never went to an eye doctor and was told to deal with not being able to see and be stuck with nothing and still had to pay for the exam its crap!!! They should have put me in what I needed, not what they thought was best because I had never worn a bifocal. I will never go back!!

So on the day of my new appt, which was supposed to be @ 2:50, they called me about 2:00 and asked me to reschedule or come in 3:30, so the Dr could go to lunch. Went back the next day - waited another hour. Finally day 3 got glasses ordered. The 2 for $69.00 ha ha. 289.00 later got my glasses ordered. When they came in I told them they didn't seem to be right. Well the technical person behind the counter checked the prescription and said it matched what was ordered to try them for a few days. She walked over and spoke to another employee who came over and asked to see my insurance card, and I told him the same thing I told the first employee, and to call to verify. The gentlemen stated that they only take VOSP or something like that, asked to see my insurance card and just said that, "We don't take this." which was my school district Aetna insurance without even verifying.

But this last time I went which was yesterday was icing on the cake and I will never step foot in there again. I made appointment laugh for an annual eye exam for my 13-yr-old and myself. The parking lot was severely crowded because this location is in a shopping center next to a Chuck E. Cheese (Glen Burnie). It took me 10 min to get a parking space which was a little bit of walking distance which caused us to be 10 min late to our appointment. I go to the counter to check in and the lady told me I have to reschedule because I was late. I tried to explain to her the reason and she rolled her eyes and again told me to reschedule. The place was going to be open for several more hours so I asked if I could be seen a little later and I was told no.
I then asked if they had walk-ins because I made an appointment and should be offered a spot before a walk-in. The second lady at the desk must has been frustrated and jumped in the conversation stating they don't take walk-ins! I know that this is a LIE because I did a walk-in appointment before myself. But once was I offered to be called if a spot opened up or any accommodations whatsoever. What gets me is they always overbook causing the wait time to be at least 2 hours so I really don't think my 10 min late would have mattered. The doctors are ok but not so great that I would come back and deal with the terrible smart-mouthed customer service. The owner or manager at this location should clean house and fire all of them. As we were about to place an order, another employee could be heard arguing with what seemed like her boyfriend on her personal cell phone, others were talking in a "Madea" voice to each other and laughing about it. To top that off, after swiping my debit card, I was told that it was swiped under another customer's name (their mistake) and I’d needed to swipe it again which ended up charging me twice $400.00 total instead of $200.00 and they just nonchalantly said it will go back on your card within 7 days.
I thought that was crazy so I called my credit card company and they gave me a 1-800 number for America’s Best to call and authorize the refund to go back to me immediately which has taken 4 phone calls to AB and being told that they were calling (which obviously they keep lying) because it still isn't back in my account yet. I made an appointment with this company since my company dropped my eye insurance. The exam was not near as complete as I am use to: no dilation, or exam in a dimmed/dark room. I picked out two frames with the expectation of paying 69.95. That's when everything went bad.
The sales girl didn't say much other than cash or credit. She came up with a cost of $300.00 for the glasses. Big difference from 69.95. When I asked what happened she said that it's the starting price, and she added the warranty, the upgraded lenses since that's what I was wearing already. I told her I wanted just the basics with one pair being tinted to sunglasses to wear while driving. Oh, the attitude started, "that's not good for your eyes and is not safe", then to my surprise the computer was down.
I asked to pay for the eye exam which was $60.00. Should have known better than to expect a deal that sounds to good to be true, that makes the glasses out to be about 5.00 a pair. Cheap! Never again. I truly believe and once again it has been confirmed "you get what you pay for".

I had glasses made at America's Best, 2 years ago. I went to an Optometrist to have an eye exam (in Feb. 2015), and he advised me that America's Best made the "prism" portion of my lenses totally wrong!! The "prism" is the correction needed between my two eyes. I have a lazy eye on the right side and they totally fitted those lenses wrong. Needless to say, I am 'very' upset with this matter.
The glasses also had a clear coating (for glare) that was also unacceptable. The coating made my glasses cloudy all the time, even when I tried to clean them with lens cleaning liquid and and a special Optometry cloth. They still were "foggy" and was nothing but a problem. The Opto that I went to told me that America's Best applied the coating in one session only, that is "why" it caused the fogging situation. This type of Eye Care is unacceptable and should be to anyone. We are talking about our "eyes" here, which is our most important sense, for heaven's sake.
