I purchased the exam and two pair of eye glasses. One pair I purchased the warranty. The other I did not. This was due to frame style. The warranty was entered wrong into their system 1st off. The 2nd is I came in a few days post a year purchase. They stated on the phone they could be fixed under warranty or it would be $25. I was informed no it is too far past warranty. They would not do anything to compromise the situation. Customer services are lacking greatly. This is from the Matthews, NC location.

I tried the nice way and NO LUCK with America's Worst Contacts & Eyeglasses! Spent almost $800 and got a pair of defective eyeglasses. Complained at the store level, people don't care! Emailed customer service and they referred to same no care people at the store! Endless defective service loop. Tried to find CEO and all I got was his name. Berkshire Hathaway owns them? I am used to much better service than this. If anyone has any suggestions, I am open. From the looks of the complaints, it seems others are having the same issues. Perhaps a class action lawsuit will get them to respond. I will try the BBB and Attorney General of Missouri first and escalate from there! Ridiculous!

As other reviewers on this site have stated, AB pushes other exams and fees at the customer as well as pulling the "bait and switch" on which types of glasses you should "need". On top of this, one of the people giving me the "field test"(?) exam wasn't above attempting to "shame" me about my eyesight, claiming that it was bad enough to keep me from getting my driving license. Of course she was unaware that I recently had a similar test at my place of employment which cleared me to drive some very large vehicles. I seriously doubt that they would have done so if my eyesight were as bad as this person claimed. At the very least, I thought it was done in a mean-spirited or callous way.

DONT GO HERE!!! Well I never have gotten an eye exam and this place I thought was good... after my contact follow up appointment I had a terrible experience there. The reason I know what I'm about to say is because I went to LensCrafters yesterday. The doctors at this place are under qualified that is why is priced so cheap, you get what you pay for. Also the doctor violated my HIPAA agreement 3 times! When I proceeded to bring up the word lawsuit they lied. I bumped into the assistant in front of my children. They literally lied.

The exam machines are outdated. The doctors are under qualified. The place is dirty. They also are not ok with giving you a prescription if you dont buy the contacts from them. My prescription there hurted and was uncomfortable. At LensCrafters felt like I'm not wearing them. The exam was totally different and their technology is jaw dropping. Dont go here. If you're in Boulder go here http://local.lenscrafters.com/co/boulder.html.

I went to this store to take advantage of their advertised two sets of eyeglasses for 69.95. I did not walk out of the store paying anywhere close to the 69.95. It was more like 250.00. All along their back wall they advertise two pair for 69.95. I selected two frames and after filling the prescription, I had to apply my discount program to bring it down to the 250.00. It would have cost more like 300.00 without the discount. I think their advertisement is very deceptive and should not be offered if this does not apply to all cases.

I just had the most unpleasant experience with America's Best. To call this a bait and switch - false advertising company does not even come close. I knew I was in trouble upon my arrival where I was privy to the training of a new employee. Without apology the trainer was telling how it was important to encourage customers to begin by looking at glasses of the "red category" and up as these are of higher cost. She also made mention that if they are purchasing one plastic pair to push for the second pair to not be plastic. Again a money making ploy. Upon the exam I was encouraged to have the screening upgrade ($15) for glaucoma, brain tumors and other risks with "age". I did so thinking it would be a legitimate screening only to find it was another computerized screen completed by a non trained employee. Scam.

Next came the sales... yep everything is additional cost. So, for the cheapest price of $122.00 for 1 pair of glasses you can walk away with the quality of a Target $9.99 pair. I decided to skip the purchase of glasses and just pay for the exam. When I asked to take a copy of my prescription with me they did everything possible to not give it to me. First they said they are happy to fax it to another one of their stores. I again pressed for a copy. I was told "ok" and was handed a sealed envelope. When I checked I only had a copy of my receipt. I again asked for a copy. They said they could write it down for me but wrote it so sloppy that I could not read it. I then asked to have a real copy of my form and was told it went against their policy and customers are not allowed to have copies of their records. What????

As a medical professional I am well aware that all individuals are "allowed" to have copies of their personal health care information. They then agreed to let me write down my information but the general manager continued to hold the record and would place his hands and other papers over the information I needed. For me the worst part was how rude and disrespectful the general manager behaved with me. I promptly made a call to their corporate office where I was told I would be contacted ASAP with support. I am still awaiting a call.

Went in for an eye exam. When it was time to get glasses representative came up with almost $500.00 cost for just regular glasses. They advertise free eye exam with 2 pairs of glasses. These glasses were single vision and not name brand. After telling him the price is way too high, he said that he can lower that. It ended up being $258.00. That just showed how they rip you off.

He said that glasses will be in within 7 days. I called on the 8th day and I was told glasses were not in yet. Called on the 10th day and glasses were just sitting there. No one bothered to call and inform me that glasses were in. When I showed up to pick them up all the girls in the office were on their cell phones texting and having personal conversations. Never bothered to hang up the phone. I asked for cleaning cloth that I was told I would get with my glasses and they said that they are out. Instead of all those girls being on the phone they should make sure they have supplies. Definitely will not be back, and I will tell other people how bad their service is.

Half a year ago I purchased contact lenses and glasses. Also I purchased 3 year membership which I regret. They are good in selling services and get the money but if it comes to their service it is horrible. First time I did my eye exam the doctor prescribed me 2.50 and 2.75 and I asked for 2.50 for both eyes. The doctor said that is fine and I purchased the contact lenses and glasses. After a while I visited them again and the secretary looked at my records and told me that the glasses are not 2.50 for both eyes, one was 2.75. I was using my contact lenses 2.50 for both eyes and I was wearing glasses very often. I did not feel good in that glasses.

I asked the doctor if I can buy another glasses with the same lenses on both eyes but the answer was NO, I could only buy what was originally in the papers. That is ridiculous. At America's Best the doctors are prescription writers trained to get as much money they can and damage your vision so they get even more money. I visited another eye doctor and he checked that 2.25 glasses are good for me and my vision is great. He advised me to take vitamins and to do specific exercises with my eye to improve my vision. I would call this eye doctor a real doctor.

When I saw the notification from USPS the next day I called in to let them know to change it. They told me a manager would try and resolve it and call me back. I received no call back, then the next day I called back same thing. Finally a manager spoke with me on THURSDAY and told me that it was corrected and would be delivered to the right address that day. Here we are on SATURDAY now and I checked USPS tracking and they tried to deliver to that same incorrect address. I am sick and tired of having to repeatedly call this company to fix this and they have done nothing. Now I have no contacts after a week of trying to deal with them. The manager of the Medford store assured me that there were branches "throughout the state of California" and that my plan would be transferable there. Now that I am here I find that the closest branch is 247 miles from where I live. When I called the Medford branch they refused to refund me any part of the plan for the year that I have left on my membership - not to mention the inconvenience of now having to find another contact provider.

On January 24, 2017, I went to America's Best in Oviedo, FL, to have a pair of high index lenses placed in a designer frame identical to the one I am currently wearing with the same prescription for single distance. I gave them the prescription which they checked against my current glasses (although that was not necessary) and they charged me $192 for the lenses, the anti reflection coating, and the tracing of the frame. They made me sign a form indicating that they were not responsible for any damages caused by their technicians to my frame, which seems to be customary here in Florida. They told me it would take about 2-3 weeks.

About three weeks later, they called me to tell me that my lenses had been cut incorrectly and they had sent my eyeglasses back to the lab to have a new set of lenses made. They told me it would not take long because the second time they usually overnight the eyeglasses (which sounded like it happens frequently). About a week later they called me to notify the arrival of the eyeglasses from the lab. The eyeglasses that I picked up had lenses cut in a wave. The frame had been warped out of shape causing it to look different. I told the person who processed my refund that not only the lenses were cut incorrectly, but the frame was damaged. She was totally uncaring and looked like she was used to this type of scenario. She responded, "That's why we always make customers sign a form that says that we are not responsible for the damages to the frame."

They refunded the entire amount of $192 and quickly dismissed me as if nothing had happened. This was by far the worst place eyeglasses place I have ever been to. I am writing this review because I don't want anyone else to have such a horrible experience. Designer frames are costly. Eyeglasses are necessary to work and drive. The choice of a pair of eyeglasses involves a certain amount of emotional stress. I strongly discourage anyone from going to America's Best on 1115 Vidina Place, Suite 125, Oviedo, FL 32765.

Unfortunately, this company does not live up to their advertisements. I do understand busy - they are, but that is never an excuse for poor customer service. They may even have decent folks working in some of their stores, so go find any other place than Lynchburg, VA. When you put your customers OUT, a good company would genuinely try to make up for it. NOT AB. Rather than do the right thing, it is the customers fault... wow.

In my experience, their system seemed to be down every day for two weeks. Constantly telling me that their "System is DOWN" should have been my first clue. However, giving them the benefit of the doubt I returned. MANY visits later, they were finally able to get my order into the system. I asked for pricing of two pairs, then separated out. I was told that their system was down, "can you come back later." I did, still down - ** promised to call me back with the information once it came back up. NEVER called.

About two weeks later, it was finally semi-up. His was not, but the other associate's was. Then "oh wait, now I can take it!" Okay, dummy me, paid for the glasses and was told they would be "RUSHED" and to me the following Wednesday. I again made a trip over (60 miles round trip) only to be rudely told that they had over 400 pairs to go through to come back later. I came back later only to be rudely told to go over "there". I asked exactly where as there were 3 counters she pointed towards. She did then ask if I was picking up a pair and I said, "yes". She asked if I had received a call. I said, "no. My salesperson told me to come in on Wed - I am here to pick up per instructions." She then seemed to get a major attitude and said something along the lines that "if I had not received a phone call, then I needed to wait for one."

At this point my frustration level got the better of me and I walked out. I went to my car and called back asking if my order was in that day's delivery. She said, "let me check on it." A totally different person came back on the line - no introduction to me at all. I asked her who she was and she only told me her first name - **. I asked for her position - Manager! She then started into a spiel of "it normally takes two weeks and your glasses are in the final stages of..." I stopped her. I told her if this is how they deal with the customers, then she did not even have a CLUE as to what real "CUSTOMER SERVICE" even meant. As someone who has worked in customer services for over 30 years, you APOLOGIZE and let them know you care! Her attitude was just as bad as her employee. Hum, imagine that.

If you enjoy RUDE sales folks, employees who outright LIE and a store manager that tries to intimidate you, because you dare to ask questions, then by all means visit the Lynchburg, VA store! BEWARE of America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses on Wards Crossing West, 120 Simons Run, Ste H, Lynchburg, VA 24502. This is one customer that will NEVER return.

Normally bifocals ordered but I thought I would try without bifocal portion. They never suggests that was not a good idea. Received my glasses and I was feeling sick to my stomach. Had to keep putting my old glasses on. Single vision glasses were bothering me also. Went to Costco a month later to get my eyes rechecked. Doctor there informed me that America's Best should have never allowed me to order single vision glasses since already use to bifocals and nearsighted glasses. Then the script that they prescribed was way too powerful for my eyes.

Ordered glasses through Costco and went back to America's Best to get my glasses redone. Called because did not want to have to wait wanted to make appointment. Kept getting voicemail. No person explained what happened and they never called back attempts to do this three times. Went to store but were closed. Personal things kept me from going back. I just do not want this from happening to anyone else. I am out over two hundred dollars with two pair of glasses I can't use but again do not want anyone else getting this done to them!!!

My experience started fairly well, with checking out frames while I was waiting for the exam. The tech who did her part of the exam was skilled and very friendly. However, I became rather uneasy when the exam with the Dr. lasted all of 5 minutes. I was then helped with picking out frames, and narrowed it to two pairs. I told the lady that I did NOT want two pairs, as I knew that wouldn't include frames and all the upgrades. Their "system was down", so she could not quote me prices. I asked her to call me back with the individual costs on each pair so that I could decide which ones I wanted.

She finally called back 48 hours later, and, of course, had one price for both pairs combined. I explained again that I wanted individual prices. She also informed me that I would have to come back because she had forgotten to take the measurements for the progressive bifocals. I told her that I lived 25 miles away and was not happy that I would have to make another trip.

Over the weekend I found this site and read all of the horror stories and rip-offs that had happened to so many other customers. So, I decided to halt this before it went any farther, and called the store this morning to tell them that I would not be purchasing my glasses there. I think that I saved myself a LOT of aggravation and problems. This means that since my insurance will be billed for that exam that I will have to pay for another exam out of my own pocket, but I can live with that. I will find a Dr. who has more than 5 minutes to spend with me, and I will get a proper and thorough exam. Thanks to this website for "opening my eyes" (ha, in more ways than one) and saving me a lot of money for crappy glasses! Just say no to this business!

I ordered 2 pair of glasses at America's Best in Altoona, PA, one with a designer frame, and one with a "generic" frame. When I went to pick them up, the designer frame had no-line bifocals in them that they said were positioned wrong. First they told me to wear the frames down on my nose as I would readers. If I had to wear them that way, then I would just get readers. I asked them to adjust the lenses so the frames could be worn where they were supposed to be worn. They told me they could have new, adjusted, lenses put in the frames, but they couldn't guarantee that they would work (this was my first pair of bifocals). Since there was no guarantee, I asked for the lenses to be replaced with readers. They told me the price for readers was going to be less than $17 less than the bifocals ($163 instead of $180). This clearly didn't make sense because no-line bifocal lenses are significantly more expensive than readers.

When I got home, I looked at the bill. It was wrong. The new frames and lenses should have been $83 not $163. I called them. They confirmed the error. I then looked at the frames on multiple websites. Each one clearly stated that no-line bifocal lenses should not be used in that frame. On every other retail eye glass supplier website, a hard case with soft cleaning cloth was included in all frame purchases of that frame. When I went to pick up the glasses, they were in the cheapest vinyl case I have ever seen. When I asked for the case that went with them, they said they didn't have any and offered to sell me a hard case.

The second pair of glasses I ordered consisted of reading lenses and a dark brown frame with subtle taupe lines in it. When I went to pick them up, the frame had a glaring white spot on the tip of the left temple. When I asked for a frame that looked like the one I tried on, they objected and offered to put my lenses in the display frames. The hinges in the display frames were worn and loose. They tried to tighten them, which resulted in hinges that didn't move. I asked for the frames to be replaced again. They reluctantly agreed but, again, refused to guarantee the replacements. They were also in a cheap case when I picked them up.

Spending hundreds of dollars (after insurance) on glasses should not be this hard. There is a very poor service culture at the management level here. My husband went to another retail eyeglass supplier and had a great experience - same prices, glasses done right the first time, quality service and goods (including decent cases). Some of the people who work at America's Best in Altoona are polite and eager to help. Nonetheless, I can't recommend this place. Best to go elsewhere.

Scheduled an appointment for my grandson. Waited 1/2 hour from our scheduled appointment time. Once we were called back the eye exam was determined based on my grandson not identifying the alphabet on the wall [which he could only identify 2 letters because he could not see]. We were unable to proceed with the eye exam because my grandson could not identify the letters. The young lady said that we could not proceed. My grandson just turned 4 and was prescribed with his 1st pair of glasses at 1-1/2. There was no need to know the alphabet then.

Very disappointed because even though I asked to see the doctor anyway and did have the glasses my grandson is using I could not get past the young lady to do so. I have full coverage insurance. Scheduled an appointment elsewhere. Glasses will be ready for pick up on 1/14/2017. Thank you America's Best for the unprofessional treatment. This was the boost needed to ensure that my grandson will be able to see with his new glasses and will be able to identify the alphabet BECAUSE HE CAN SEE THEM!!!

I purchased a pair of glasses in store. The selection was pretty minimal and I wasn't super excited about what I chose, but got them anyway. The turn around time was pretty fast. I picked them up the next day with my custom lenses. The glasses had some little rhinestone embellishments on the side and several of the stones fell out within a few weeks (I'm not particularly rough on my glasses although I do wear them all the time; the stones just were not secured enough). I would have expected a better quality product for the price.

I went back to the store and they gave me a free pair of glasses to replace the first pair, and let me keep the first pair to boot. I now have a pair of "play" glasses that are missing a few stones but useful for days when I'm doing yard work, hiking, or whatever else. I liked that they replaced the first pair and didn't ask questions. I was so afraid they'd think I did it on purpose to get a free pair. I didn't like the fact that there was such a limited selection. Hipster big frames all looked the same, and the only other choice were narrow 90's style glasses or big old fashioned ones (that seemed like they were for older people). Choosing a second pair was REALLY hard because I had already purchased the only pair I really liked. The second pair was a better quality and lasted a long time.

I only use the cloth that came with my glasses including their wipes and lens cleaner.

When I went back to have my lenses repaired the associate told me that yes my warranty covers it but it's a one-time warranty and to wait until my lenses get more scratched up before I use the warranty! Seriously!! I told her the lenses are not supposed to chip nor scratches considering I paid for the bells and whistles so why do I need to wait and since when is it a one time warranty?? I went back 2 weeks ago and again told the same thing!! The people are rude and talk about customers like crap while they are sitting in the waiting room! What's wrong with these people! I don't want to go back but the doctor was amazing.

1st off I have gone here a couple times. One pair of glasses the flex kind broke fairly quickly. The next time I took my kids in they have insurance and this place completely scammed the insurance. The kids ended up not getting their glasses as they charged the entire insurance plus 100 per child for one of the kids. It was just reading glasses. 10.00 at Walgreen. The other child needs basic glasses for distance. This was a total scam as I had to leave before it was completed and They saw my mom coming. Do not go here. It's not worth the hassle. Walmart does a better job.

Well about a month later the one side of the ear piece got loose again so I thought that I would take them back to get them tightened. Well she took one look at them and said that the screw was stripped and they couldn't be fixed. She said that there was nothing that they could do since I didn't get the warranty. Then she said it was how I took them off caused it. I wasn't happy. Even Walmart have cheap glasses but give you a year warranty. I can tell you that I will never buy a pair of glasses from them again. I will buy them at another place next time.

The next morning went to AB and told the Doctor there, I have a Clens that is stuck and can't get it out so he examined my eye and said "YOU DO NOT have a contact lens in your eye" so he gave me a prescription for eye drops to use until my eye looked better. Over the next few days my eye gets worse and worse and then I can't see so I made appointment for 2nd opinion and he found it immediately, it was right on my eye and because it had been there too long I had an ulcer over my whole eye. It's been 3 weeks and under a doctor's care and still can't see good. Total negligence and I will never go to America's Best again. I am on steroids and antibiotics 4 times a day. I am suing them.

I was double booked for an appointment, the customer service was very poor, employees were talking negatively about clients and laughing, they were very late getting me in. After my appointment I sat for an hour! Waiting to pick up my new contacts, they had been closed for twenty minutes before I was waited on. No apologies, nothing. I am 32 and never worn glasses in my life! I woke up last week and was having blurry doubled vision. I went 2 days before deciding ok, there is something wrong here and decided to go to America's Best due to the ads on TV (2 pairs of glasses for 69.99). I scheduled the appointment and went the same day. I had the exam and was told that I needed glasses with Prism in them so that my eyes would align and be able to see images clearly and would not be able to get contacts because contacts do not come with Prism in them. I was told I would have to wait 7-10 days for my glasses.

In the meantime, I can not see properly. As a single mother with 2 small children and no assistance, this terrifies me. I call them to get the status of my eyewear and am told they are still in the lab. I ask if there is anything they could provide me temporarily so that I can be able to drive my children to and from school as having blurred doubled vision on a constant basis is making driving extremely difficult and I do not want to get in an accident. They advised me that there is nothing that they can do as they do not make glasses there on the spot.

They referred me to Eyeglass World, who does make glasses on the spot but Eyeglass World would charge me an additional $150 on top of the $220 (not 69.99) I already paid to America's Best. I expressed that this cannot be the only alternative (I do not know about most, but I do not have that kind of money sitting around). They continue to say there is nothing that can be done.

I asked what if I were in an accident. I feel that for a doctor to know that a patient is not able to see properly and then not provide any advice or alternative until their eyewear arrives, is a major LIABILITY for their practice. I was not even told whether or not I should or shouldn't be driving. Fortunately enough, I know due to common sense that I should not be driving yet I have no choice at this point. I am still waiting for glasses, but I also still have to be a mother to my children, but if ANYTHING happens up until that point, a lawyer will definitely come in to play.

If you are expecting $400 glasses and service for $69, you won't get that here. What you will get are helpful, busy people, adequate service, and less squinting. I am agoraphobic. It took me two years to get in to see an eye doctor. I am also body dysmorphic and wear a surgeon's mask on my face because I don't like the world to see me. Yeah, I'm mad as a hatter, but I still know about service. The point is, these folks didn't even stutter. Nobody stared, nobody rolled their eyes. My adult son went with me and they were kind and patient with both of us.

As it happened, I got two different scripts, one for driving and the other for sewing. The sewing pair weren't quite right because I needed to see much closer to my eyes than reading, so the tech cheerful offered to make new ones. The store was very busy and the gal asked if I could come back for a re-exam in a few days. My panic loomed, but my son carefully explained that I could not actually get out of the house that easily. She smiled, and said no problem, and found somebody to do a new exam ten minutes later. The last fitting two weeks later, both pairs were perfect and I paid $69.99.

I don't wish to harp on other people, but it is up to the consumer to set expectations. These are incredibly affordable glasses, with an exam. They are obviously no frills. So, if you need something special, if you need no glare, if you need bifocals or whatever, they're not going to be that cheap. Know this going in. Also, they will of course try to sell you upgrades. It's their job. Be kind, say no, hold your ground, and you'll walk out with better vision, x2, and a smile. Nothing is free. Many of these reviews seem to have forgotten that.

I went to a retina dr and was told that I needed to get glasses due to the floaters that I am experiencing while I have my contacts in. I was enticed with the 2 glasses and vision check for such a good deal. I now see why. I decided to get contacts as well as 2 glasses. I told this to the eye dr. She clearly understood that I was planning to wear my glasses with my contacts. Well I choose my glasses and was told to wear the trial contacts and come back in a week to see how I do with them and that she will recheck my eyes then. I waited 2 weeks and went in.

The prescription that was for the computer was without contacts so they needed to send them back. The Dr had to retest my eyes and she never checked my eyes for the contacts. I was given the other glasses and this was a trivision for the computer. These were fine but could not see the computer. I had to drive back and send these off too. I mentioned that my eyes were not rechecked for the contacts. Then she checked them. I waited 2 more weeks for my glasses again. I went back and well you guessed it. Wrong again. One eye perfect, the other a no go. Could not see a darn thing. The eye dr that I seen was not there that day so I was told that they will call me back. Well I called in the am and the person who answered told me that the eye tech was not there that am and to call back tomorrow.

I was to say the least upset I have been waiting for a month for these glasses and still nothing. I asked for the manager and told she was busy. I asked for her manager's boss and then conveniently the manager was able to speak to me. I asked for my money back and she said that it will take 2 weeks to get my money put back in my HSA. I called their customer service and no help. I after work went again back to sign the papers to get my money back. I said "It will be 2 weeks?" She said "No. More like 10-14 business days!!!" I left and called her boss. He was very nice and said he would call me back and see if he could do something about getting my money back. Well it has been 2 days and no phone call. I just checked my account and no money. I hope I get my money in 10-14 business days. I am out of more than 450.00 dollars. No money to spend for my glasses and still have nothing as of right now.

They advertised 2 glasses for $69 with a free exam. They said they take insurance. My insurance was good. I went there the day before to check it out. My appointment was the next day. Got there a little early. I waited 45 min to be seen. The eye exam took about 15 min. Waited to be seen for 30 min. Sat down with a service rep at her computer while she told me I didn't have the benefits I just checked on. I gave her my insurance phone number to call. She made several attempts but couldn't get through. I called them and they told her my benefits as I had. Now, she couldn't make her computer accept my plan. This took 3 hours. When her computer shut down, I left. She called me the next day to tell me she got the computer setup and I could come back to measure my glasses.

Next day I came in and she was in the back helping someone else with their contacts. I went up to the General Manager and told her what I needed, but she didn't have a clue. There were only 2 reps with customers and a few customers waiting. I walked around the store three times and heard one customer telling the rep all about his truck! I was getting frustrated at the lack of service for the customers waiting. It had been 45 minutes and I went back to the GM and she continued repeating the wrong information to me.

By now the rep had finished talking to the man with the truck. GM brought me to her saying how good this report was. The rep I wanted to see was still busy in the back. I sat down with new rep and she immediately started off with if you are out of network they won't pay. I jumped in with my benefits and she looked at me like I was lying and said well, we'll see. I flipped out and told her I had been all through this with the other rep. She said I didn't appreciate you saying talking, talking when I was with my customer! I told her there are other customers waiting while you were talking to him about his truck. She said I like my customers to feel comfortable and take their time. So I offered to tell her about how I have created my front yard to look like a park, but there are people waiting to be helped.

Luckily, the rep I came to see came out from the back telling the GM and the rep she had already setup the computer. She measured my glasses and I left with only 90 minutes. I did not get the 2 glasses with free exam because I got bifocals. So I got one pair and one exam for $500. I paid $100. They billed my insurance for the rest. Service can't keep up with the needs of the customers and they are rude.

My husband and myself went to the Boynton Beach, Florida location yesterday for eye exams and new glasses. We went to this location last year and were really pleased with the service but that was certainly not the case this year. Last year, vision insurance covered the cost of frames but did not pay for progressive lenses or anti-glare coating. This year, they only cover the eye exam as they only pay for glasses every 2 years.

After the exam, we picked out frames. Actually the saleslady seemed to pick them out for us claiming that "she knew what was best", not really interested in any input we may have had. She then proceeded to not offer us lens options, choosing the digital premium lens without even asking us. Those things are $104.00 per lens!!! Outrageous!!! We both needed progressive lenses and anti-glare coating and she knew insurance was not covering the cost of the glasses, so you would think she would show a little mercy... Apparently not, to the tune of $547.00 for 2 pairs of glasses!!! We told her to cancel the sale and we will take our business elsewhere.

They use that huge poster in the store window to lure people in, 2 pairs for $69.99. Don't expect to pay anything close to that. Save your money and go somewhere else where they aren't out to ** you, like Walmart optical because they realize those people who shop at Walmart are there to save money, not empty their bank account with unauthorized "add-ons" that they don't consult with you about. No one should have to go into hock to buy glasses and they most certainly should be told what they are being charged for without the salesperson doing what's best for their commission and not what is best for the customer.

I went to see the optometrist at America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses of Murfreesboro, TN on Saturday August 13th. The staff was very friendly and their selection of glasses was nice as well. Their bargain wall (2 for $69) had lots of modern looking trendy frames, which was a nice bonus! When my spouse and I walked in, the woman behind the front desk was friendly and helped us through the paperwork we needed to do. It was simple, straightforward, and she was incredibly nice the entire time. She walked us back to where we were supposed to meet the doctor, which was just through a hallway, and waited until someone else came to help us - her service was fantastic.

My issue came from the eye exam and everything thereafter. The eye doctor seemed to be very professional and that was nice, until I told her the problems I was having out of my eyes. She read my old prescription in the machine and did the typical "1 or 2?" routine. When I told her my vision was still very blurry, I was told "Let's try this for a bit and see how you do." I insisted that my vision was extremely blurry, even worse than before. I was told my last prescription was too strong (it was not, I was having to squint to see far), and that I would not need anything to help me read.

I continued to try to tell her that I was unable to see with that prescription, but she wrote it anyway and sent me out to pick glasses. The room was totally empty and there were several associates standing around while my family and I were looking at all of the glasses options. Not once did someone offer to come help us, which really disappointed me. I had to walk to the front and get the attention of the optician who was sitting on her phone behind one of the desks. She tried to push us into buying several fancy upgrades and we stayed firm on only wanting to spend $69 to see the quality of the frames/lenses first. After checking us out, we were hurried out and told that she would try to rush the order on my glasses, as I can't go without glasses.

They were supposed to be in on the 23rd of August, but ended up ready to be picked up yesterday (Wednesday the 18th). I tried my glasses on in store and was served by the lovely front desk associate that greeted us on the Saturday. I told her that it was extremely blurry and hard to see, especially out of one eye, but was told she was not a doctor and to try it anyways for a week and see what they felt like.

After having them on for an hour, I was bumping into things and had a terrible migraine, so I called them again and asked if there was any way to check if it was in fact the right prescription in the lenses. It was verified that the prescription was the one on the page, and I was told to call back in the morning. When I called back this morning (Thursday) I was told that I can't see a doctor today to have my eyes re-checked as this prescription did not work AT ALL. It was so much weaker than I needed with the wrong values in it. I am supposed to go in tomorrow to have my eyes re-checked and the lenses changed out if possible, but this is a very long ordeal and a huge hassle for people with lives and jobs who need their glasses urgently. I should have gone to a same day service with a more thorough exam.

They've always just pointed me to the wall and left me to make decisions on my own, never telling me what looked good and what didn't and why. But my great experience (with the Bartlett, TN office) started with a phone call to ask if they took my insurance. I was told 9 times out of 10, they didn't take Medicare based insurance, but she would be happy to check. As it turned out they did.

She asked for a little more info and was able to tell me exactly how much they paid. I explained I already had a prescription and she said, "fine", I didn't need an appointment. I said, "I'd be in in a little while". She gave the hours, exact location and she'd have my paperwork ready. When I arrived I was greeted like a long time customer. Everyone in the store was very friendly. They treated everyone that came in while I was there the same way. By the way, they said they had to tell me it would take two weeks for my glasses to come in. Three days later, I received a call and one pair was already there.

I had some scratches on glasses I purchased from them not too long ago. I went back to the store to see if anything could be done. The manager said nothing could be done. He promptly offered a $320 quote for new lenses. I returned home disappointed and did a brief Google search which showed me how to fix my glasses in 5 minutes using Armour Etch (It totally worked). The manager either lied to me or was very uneducated about his profession, either of which is unacceptable. Do yourself a favor. Go to Costco for glasses. They have the price for the same quality and better service.

Knowledge of how glasses are fitted and the materials they're made of help immensely in determining on how happy you will be with your purchase. I requested the measurement numbers for future reference since I felt these glasses fit perfectly. I did get up sold on upgrades I wanted and was willing to pay extra for like no line big focal, upgraded clearer lens material, scratch resistance along with transition darkening. The price was less than I expected for all these features in two pair of glasses that carry a one-year lens damage replacement. I've shopped at other retailers and came back to an America's Best because of their quality product, lowest prices, and outstanding customer support. If you have any issues they will bend over backwards to make it right. I know they are my go to shop for glasses.

My daughter (Melody) tried contact lenses for the first time July 2015. June 2016 my daughter told me she was about to run out of contact lenses so it was time to reorder; which I immediately called America's Best, Mays Landing, New Jersey location, and placed and paid for the lenses (mail order). At that time the young lady told me that my daughter was due for her next exam in July so after this order she would not be able to get more contact lenses until her next exam. So I said okay. I made the appointment for July 19, 2016. At that appointment my daughter's prescription changed which meant she would have new contact lenses and the lenses I just bought would take her 6 months at 2 weeks per use to finish them. I called the store to ask if I could get a credit or refund on the unused contact lenses and I was told if the box was opened, no, but I would be able to receive samples for my daughter in exchange for the unused lenses.

I went to the Mays Landing store on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, and the young lady at the front desk said she would find out if I could do that type of transaction that I was told about on the phone, and I was told "no." I was never told that if I'm close to having a yearly exam not to order the contact lenses my daughter needed. And if she used her eyeglasses they wouldn't have been the best remedy either because that prescription was now 2 years or so old, and with the new exam and the change in prescription I wasted money ordering the contact lenses in June that my daughter should not wear because her eyes have changed in 1 year's time.

Please tell me that someone in the Corporate Office can help with this situation and at least offer a credit for the unused contact lenses I just paid for in June 2016. I am so disappointed and disgusted with the way I was told one thing on the telephone and another in the Mays Landing store. If this isn't resolved to my satisfaction I may have to tell others about the poor service at America's Best, and go to another competitor for my family's eye care as we are a family of 3 that uses America's Best. I hope to hear from someone really soon about this matter. Disappointed and Disgusted. -- Hard-working customer.

He was very helpful and very educated on the process of getting new glasses. I knew I would I be paying more for my frames due to me needing bifocals. The price was 272.00 dollars for two pair which was about what I expected. His service in person was even better. He took time with me to make sure all the measurements were exact. He even recommended some new frames that would improve my scope of vision. He was so right I have never seen better! Keep up the good work Richard!

I purchased a pair of glasses with progressive lenses, anti glare, transitions and frames in November of 2015. I had great service. My glasses were great. We talked about not using paper on my lenses, always use soft clean cloth or a lens cleaning cloth, or special wipes. I don't remember being told that the lenses should always be wet when they're cleaned... That's where I went wrong.

I began to notice scratches. At first I thought they were just dirty. When I realized it was scratching, I went back to the store where I bought them to see if they can be fixed... Unfortunately, the young man who took care of me was young, probably new, and didn't know the questions to ask. He was a very polite but seemed inexperienced. I did not think to ask if I could talk to another associate. I was really upset but I went home, and started to see if I could "live with it", because even though their prices are good, the lenses I need aren't cheap. I decided to go back during the week and see one of the regular associates who asked immediately if I purchased my glasses there. My glasses are under warranty, she ordered new lenses, and gave me great advice to keep my new lenses like new. Happy Customer!

Went for a eye exam on July 1, 2016. Picked out two pair of glasses for a free eye exam. I paid $489.95 for two pair of glasses. They talked me into having the visual field test for $15.00. So on July 12, 2016 they said my glasses were ready. I am handicapped and hard for me to walk. I went to pick up my glasses and both pair were TOTALLY blurry for distance and bifocals for reading. They said how sorry they were. They had me take another eye exam totally different from my first prescription. They put a rush on my glasses because we were going away. Went in on July 19, 2016 to pick up glasses.

One pair was TOTALLY blurry AGAIN. They said Corporate would send me a check in 2 weeks because I said I didn't want them. Very inconvenience for me. They wouldn't waive the eye exam fee since now I was only buying one pair. It was not my fault at all. MY HUSBAND AND MYSELF WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK AND NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. Customer service wanted to sent me a 30% coupon for next time and I told them no I don't want it. We will go back to Empire Vision next time where we never had any problems whatsoever. So they will send me a check for $134.98... REALLY... for all the inconvenience I had to go through... going there 3 times.

They claimed she is with a patient and did not wait to ask.

Later another lady try to sell extra add ons and when I said I don't want to buy they act like I don't understand what I want and gave me some more attitude. Extremely professional service with no discernible wait times, polite staff, and doctor's findings were same as I have gotten at far more expensive eye care offices. The cost was well below any other eye care office I priced out (I need an exam and both glasses and contacts prescriptions). Also note that the three-year ($99) exam plan is still well below one exam cost from any other site I contacted. No pressure to purchase anything (I didn't, except for $20 addition to exam to check back of eye), and I may just go back and price out glasses! Have noticed some bad reviews on glasses from this chain and will I think about this before I order any. Definitely contacting them about the cost of my pre-packaged disposable contacts though.

I purchased 3 pairs of Ray-Ban frame glasses from the Asheville NC store with progressive lenses and "all the works" of which needless to say cost quite a lot. I had a friend that worked there at the time and felt like it was an overall good deal. Well... several weeks went by and I kept a constant headache. As I had just had the eye exam and new lenses my MD referred me to a neurologist for evaluation. Prior to going to the MD I realized that the lenses in all three pair of glasses could not get clean. There was a constant smear on the lenses which was causing the headaches. I went by the store and was told to use their cleaning supplies of which I was already and more or less brushed off.

The problem continued and I went back to the store and was told I should wash them in Dawn once a week and brushed off again. This has still not corrected the problem so I am now at the point of having to go to another eye doctor to have new lenses replaced in all three pairs of glasses. I warn folks not to trust these glasses as they start off okay and then just seem to start deteriorating. And don't expect to receive any help from the store you get them from.

I went to this location on 3.22.16 before leaving for a humanitarian mission trip for Africa. I needed at least one pair of contacts to take with me. They ordered the others, as I need a specialty lens. I went on my trip and I then got ill when I came home. After I recovered, I had to move a household from MI back to IN, therefore, I had a lot on my plate. Since I had been ill, I hadn't been using my contacts much, mainly my glasses. However, I finally am well and settled and it just hit me that I never have heard a thing about my contacts. And it is 6.30.16... 3 1/2 months.

I called today and here's how it went: Call 1: Got cut off after about 2 min. on hold. Call 2: Waited on hold 5 min. but there was no on hold radio like before, so I thought it was dead. I hung up. Call 3: I called back. She answered, "Is this Jerry?" I guess they saw number and knew it was me. Not sure what happened. I was told "Dee" was looking into it. "Can I put you on hold?" "NO!" I asked for them to call me.

Call 4: After waiting more than 30 minutes, I called back. I live an hour away and was hoping to change my day to drive in and pick these up. I was once again put on hold for 7 minutes. Someone came on and asked how they could help me like it was a new call. I explained it all AGAIN and was put on hold. After 10 min. someone came on and said "The manager said the associate that did this order messed up. He's going to talk to that associate and have him correct it." I immediately asked to talk to manager as I felt I deserved to know what happened. He was in an appt. but called back about 15 min. later.

So, I went in on 3.22.16, because I was leaving for Africa on 3.23.16. They had to order my special contacts, which can sometimes take 10 days. However, 4 days after I was there, someone picked up my order! I had NO ONE pick up my order and knew I would be gone. And this was paid for. They don't check ID, but, as the manager stated, it is rare for someone coming it to get someone else's order, especially a specialty contact. I get that.

The manager with whom I spoke was very confused and understood my frustration. This was the first he knew of this and he was going to talk to the associate when he comes in "today at 1:30 PM". He said it didn't make sense that those lenses would have been there so quickly anyway, and he doesn't know why they were given to someone other than myself. He did say, "I like to show him things like this when they happen..." Basically, it sounds like this associate has a tendency to have quite a few mistakes.

So, I'm now without contacts and also without a retail optometrist, as I will not be returning here. The manager is having new lenses shipped to my home, but I'm done with them after that. America's Best has the new ad campaign with the owl. Some of the ads are kind of amusing and others are just annoying. However, they called themselves America's Best... but according to my experience, they clearly are not.

America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses in Springfield, IL willingly and knowingly takes advantage of the elderly. Their management staff are incompetent and rude. Their aggressive pricing behavior is non-transparent and misleading. I originally set my mother up with an eyeglass appointment for no-line bifocals. We were originally quoted two sets of prices: 1. two frames with standard no-line bifocals with free exam for $150, and 2. two frames with precision no-line bifocals with free exam for $250. My mother went to her appointment and she left with a bill for greater than $495.00. My mother upon leaving was quite upset with the radical revision in the originally quoted price. She left completely mystified and very upset as to how the price nearly tripled from the originally quoted amount.

I called to find out what happened and was told she had requested sunglasses for one pair of glasses and that she ordered an upgrade to designer frames for another pair of eyeglasses. From my conversation with my mother, it was clear she was never clearly told the price of each one of these upgrades. The first staff person I spoke told me that they had originally mischarged her for two pairs of designer frames but that she had to contact the original person who sold her the frames to make the price correction. I was told they would call me back with the revised and corrected price. They never called me back. So instead I called them back the next day and again asked for the price after subtracting out their error of mischarge for the two designer frames. I was told her bill would instead be approximately $450.00. I then asked them to explain to me point-by-point how they managed to go from $150.00 to $450.00.

At that point in time I was told that that was confidential information requiring a release by mother. Unwilling to send my mother back to a store which had clearly engaged in manipulative pricing behavior, I asked why this basic pricing information was suddenly confidential and was never provided a satisfactory response. At this point, over two phone conversations, a non-returned call, and a sudden commitment to random confidentiality, I believe uttered a single expletive! Gasp!

At that point in time I finally was told I could speak with the store manager, who I was never allowed to speak to prior, despite requesting to. I again explained the situation. I was never provided a clear line-by-line statement of the bill. At this point I told the store manager that I wanted a refund for my mother and that I intended to vocally report their willingly and knowingly deceptive and fraudulent behavior to the entire worldwide web for all to see. He claimed he was in the store when my mom made her purchase decisions. I again told him my mother was unaware of the additional charges that she was being provided and that she, as do all customers, deserves to receive them. He asked if I was calling into account his credibility. I told him that that was precisely what I was doing.

At that point I was told that my entire family was unwelcome in their store and that if they attempted to return to collect their refund that that would be issued a legal injunction. Having received such a threat, it is clear that America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses has no intention of refunding my mother's purchase. They have thus stolen nearly $500 from my mother. Rest assured our attorneys have been notified. We will sue you if necessary. My family and I intend to repeat this story on every public internet and media forum until this is resolved to my and mother's satisfaction.

While there the doctor briefly said that if my son would like he could try on a "free trial pair" of contacts to see if he liked them. There was no mention of any extra charge to try on a "free trial pair" of contacts. After my son tried them on the contact technician named Brittani tried to charge us an extra $80!

I refused but had to stay very firm as the contact tech tried to strong arm me into paying it. She tried to claim that the eye exam which was included in the $69 deal was also the $79 contact exam all wrapped up into 1 exam, even though there was no mention of contacts until the eye exam was over and the only mention of contact was asking us if my son would like to try a "free trial pair". I held fast and refused to pay anything over the $69 I had agreed to but it was a very unpleasant experience and apparently this is America's Best's standard operating procedure based on the comments here. Up until this attempt to stronghold us for an extra $79, I was happy with the service -- and we were even considering the contacts for a future time. Obviously now we will take our business elsewhere.

Do NOT do business with this store! This account is long, but the short version is, they made the glasses wrong, then lied to me TWICE, did not submit the order with the new prescriptions, after a re-check, and I ended up having to wear my old glasses, which had broken apart at the bridge, for over two weeks, with nothing but duct tape holding the 2 pieces together. I am still wearing the broken glasses now! (I am very nearsighted, and can't see anything without them)

I went to America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses because they seemed to have the most affordable glasses available. I had an eye exam, to get my prescription, and ordered two pairs of glasses, with different prescriptions - one for distance vision, and one for computer use. The glasses came back in less than a week, but the lenses of both pairs were impossible for me to see through! They not only made my vision blurry, but they gave me double vision!

I assumed that the optometrist had made a mistake with my prescription and asked for a re-check with another doctor. The employee that I was dealing with told me that there would be no doctor at that location until 2 days later and that would be the same doctor who initially examined my eyes. As my current glasses were broken, and I urgently needed new ones, I asked if I could get an appointment for a recheck at another location - and the employee did call and scheduled me an appointment for the next day, at the next-nearest location.

Then I asked for some kind of receipt showing that I had already paid for two pairs of glasses, plus the free exam that went with them and that the store still owed me the exam and 2 pairs of glasses. The employee didn't know how to do that, so she said that she was going to refund my money. (All of this took a very long time, as this person did not seem to know how to use the store's computer system very well. She also didn't speak English very well.)

When she finally finished entering the refund information, I checked my bank balance on my phone and saw that the money was not there. (I did not have any extra money to pay for the glasses and exam again.) I told her that the money had not come back into my account, and she said, "Oh, it will take about a week to process." This woman KNEW that my current glasses were broken - only held together with duct tape - and that I urgently needed new ones. And yet, instead of doing something that would allow me to get my eyes re-examined the next day and order glasses then, she chose to issue a refund that left me without the funds to get new glasses! Anyway, when I expressed my dismay, she said she would do something to get me a free vision check at the other location.

The next day, I went to the other so-called America's Best store, and I did get my eyes checked by another optometrist. Then I chose two frames from that store's selection and told the store employee which pair I wanted for which prescription. I also showed him the receipt from the other store and explained that I did not have the money to pay for the glasses because of what the woman at the other store had done. The guy at this 2nd store said that he would go ahead and order the glasses for me anyway and that I should call the store and pay by phone as soon as my refund came in.

About 6 days later, the money finally came back into my account. I called the store to find out of my glasses were ready yet and to make the payment. The person I spoke to on the phone said that they had NOT ORDERED MY GLASSES! So now I had been going around with glasses broken into two pieces, at the bridge, held together by duct tape, for two weeks, and still had no new glasses! The store employee who said he would submit my order lied to me!

At that point, I was so desperate for new glasses that I resolved to borrow that amount necessary to pay the high price of same-day glasses at LensCrafters. So I asked the person I was speaking to on the phone if I could get my glasses prescriptions, and I said that I needed to pick it up from the first America's Best location that I had gone to, as it was close to where I work. He said that they would fax my new prescription over to the other store, and I could get it the next day.

The next day, I went in to the original store to get my prescription, and they said that no one had faxed it to them. So someone from the other store had lied to me again!!! I did finally get my prescription the next day, which was yesterday. I don't trust America's [so-called] Best Contacts and Eyeglasses at all now, and I also can not bear to wear these broken glasses for another week or more, so I am going to have to borrow money and get expensive ones made at LensCrafters. I will only be able to get a pair for distance vision, at this point. I don't know what I'm going to do about using the computer.

After speaking with 3 different staff members, the story changed: my glasses were delivered on 5/5 but did not pass quality check, so they sent them back to the lab. One of the lenses was not matching the script. Poor customer service, extensive delay in order, the price of the product not cheaper than other places. They have totally lost me as a customer!!!

I went for my first ever eyeglass appointment as my drug store readers were no longer effective. I chose America's Best because of the $69 special I kept seeing advertised. They did a bait and switch on me and my final bill was $342.00 for two pair. It was expensive, but I had to be able to read so I sucked it up and paid the bill. I am writing this review because the quality of the glasses that they gave me are worse than readers I have purchased from drug stores, even Dollar Tree. Yes, Dollar Tree. Save yourself a lot of money and aggravation and go to another optometry store, or even Dollar Tree. You will still be better off than the junk that you get from these people. I am a Registered Nurse and tell every one of my patients, peers, friends, families, and everyone I come in contact with what junk these people sell. Never mind the bait and switch.

Went into the Orem, UT store today because of their advertisement of two glasses for $69. Buyer beware! You are being scammed and will not come away with two pairs of glasses for $69. After the eye exam, which they will generously include with the purchase of two pairs of glasses, you will be presented with a final bill of $250 - $350. My recommendation is to run away from this store and go to a reputable business that does not employ bait-and-switch or false advertising to lure people in.

And then the assistant manager goes to ask me if I was sure I had ordered the wrong ones. I stated to her, "Really, why would I order 2 of the computer glasses which by the way were awesome but they were not what I wanted. I wanted my glasses so I could see far and close." Now all that said, they stated they would correct the issue but I had to wait for 2 or 3 weeks to get them. REALLY? I went there because I believed it was a great place and by the way the Doctor was very professional. It was the staff that was not. Despite the advertising of two pairs for $69.95 my tab came to just over $300. Immediately one pair had to be remade and months later remade once again. The quality of the optics seems to degrade quickly over time. I have a pair of bifocals that are plain glass in the top with prescription in the bottom. In theory I should be able to see objects as well through the clear area as without glasses. I find that after just a few months the clear area becomes distorted and I see things better without the glasses. I use the cleaning cloth supplied by them. I know that I can make a warranty claim, but each time my glasses are sent off for 10 days to 2 weeks and I am without glasses.

It seems as the quality of their frames also comes up lacking as I can't keep mine in adjustment. The last time I went in for adjustment the young lady looked at me, not taking my glasses off, just looked at me and said "they look okay to me" and walked away. They were constantly slipping down my nose and needed tightening in the nose piece but I didn't even get the opportunity to tell her that because she walked away. DISGUSTING service.

The first pair had an issue with the arm on the frame twisting within the first week. While they had them to fix them, he wore the second pair and the frame broke in half on the 2nd day! Of course they wouldn't fix them. Several weeks later the first pair developed a crack inside the lens which distorted his view.

There was no scratch on the outside of the lens but the front desk person insisted that it was as she was aggressively scratching the lens and because of my sons age it was the major factor in the condition of the lens. She was very insistent that we were at fault and not the poor craftsmanship of the product. I had to take the glasses from her before she created a scratch! Their customer service is rude, pushy and they don't stand behind their product or what they advertise. The 2 for $69 was well over $100 and it didn't include an eye exam. My mom told them that she never got them replaced to begin with; they only tightened the frame in the previous visit. And they told her that their records show that they were replaced, not just tightened. So there are obviously liars in this store and no one else seems to care. I said "why would I be out here telling you that I am here to pick up my glasses if I already had them." They realized that they gave my glasses to another patient. He said it was a little more, and I told him no thanks. Not one single time did I get pressured into buying something extra on my glasses. The guy was very professional and courteous.

I recommend that people read the fine print, because I noticed in some of the complaints that they ended up paying more than $69.95. If you have single vision, and you just want a pair of non coated lens, and not designer glasses, then you will pay the same thing I did which was $69.95 (lens and frames) for 2 pair of glasses and the eye exam is free. After reviewing various America's Best locations and not finding anything that indicated there were any issues at stores situated near to the Miami International Airport, an appointment was made at 3144 North Miami Avenue, Miami FL, 33127 for an eye examination. Upon my family's arrival at the airport, we proceeded to this location for the appointment and parked the vehicle given to us by the rental company in the car park of America's Best mere feet away from their front door. Within an hour of our arrival there, our vehicle was broken into and our luggage was stolen. Our luggage contained our passports, visas, laptops, cell phones, credit cards, etc. As we had not yet arrived at our final destination these documents were stashed in our carry on pieces as we did not expect to have stayed more than half hour at America's Best.

As the manager of the store became aware of our predicament, only then was it mentioned to us that this particular store of America's Best had been experiencing a spate of robberies within recent times and the management and staff of this store did not see it fit to inform any of the customers coming into the store to be mindful of where they were parked. While I understand the company will not want to scare away potential clients, I believe it's far more damaging to the company's reputation to not mention something as important as probable robberies at the store. We were also told because of the robberies, video cameras had to be installed in the car park but they were of no use to us as we were not able to see the faces of those that committed the crime.

America's Best, for this indiscretion, you get ONE STAR as you demonstrated YOU DO NOT CARE FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS AT ALL by failing to provide security in the car park area of your business or at least discreetly mentioning to persons to amplify the checks they already provide to their vehicles parked in YOUR car park. It does not matter whether you share the car park with the bank and other business places located nearby, something other than cameras that cannot zoom in on the faces of persons frequenting there should have been implemented knowing what you all knew. Way to go America's Best. Such a caring and thoughtful company.

My mother to America's Best this morning in Rockville, Maryland because they advertise $69.for two COMPLETE pair of glasses including the eye exam. It was not until AFTER the eye exam, that my mom was informed the prescription she had would not qualify for the deal. In addition, they said the deal was only for the lenses and NOT the frames and that the type of lenses she would require would cost her about $200 for each pair. Since she did NOT get the eyeglasses as at that price because they were way more than she could afford, she was charged $60 for very quick eye exam and then was told that she should go get an eye exam from a qualified ophthalmologist. I believe that they should not have charged her for an eye exam that was not in depth and that should have been free if she had been able to get her two COMPLETE pairs of glasses for $69 as she had intended.

Seven months after getting the second pair the same exact stress cracks appeared again. America's Best refused to do anything about this, despite the fact that these stress cracks are a result of poor manufacturing. They stated that although I was sold a one year warranty, and the second pair of glasses were only seven months old, the original date of purchase was over a year ago and therefore not covered. They found it perfectly acceptable to sell me eyeglasses that cost several hundred dollars that would only last a few months. They told me my recourse was to buy yet another pair of glasses or buy new lenses. There is absolutely no way I will spend another cent at America's Best ever again. Hypocrites! They've been doing this for a long time already. How come sales will end soon? That's a straightforward big lie!!! You end up paying more than $500 dollars depending on the frame you choose. The ones advertised for $69 are terribly ugly. They know you will never buy them so you end up paying way much more than $69. Please don't fall for this. I would never ever recommend this store. LIARS!

What started as a normal Sunday visit for an eye exam and glasses quickly turned into a visit from hell! We called ahead to make an appointment and were informed by one of the associates that the eye exam for contacts (along with the normally free glasses exam) would be free if we said that we were buying two pairs of glasses when we entered. Because of this, we bypassed all the closer businesses and made the trip out from Novi to this specific Livonia location.

Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by a very grumpy doctor. I get that working on the Sunday after Christmas isn't exactly ideal but is that any excuse for horrible customer service? After a very unpleasant eye exam we were informed that the doctor could not write us a contacts prescription because they did not have any record of us ever getting a contacts exam there, even though 1-800 contacts confirmed that they had received the prescription from America's Best. On top of refusing to be any help whatsoever, the doctor and one of the associates even bad-mouthed 1-800 contacts! Excuse me but 1-800 contacts has always provided excellent customer service which is much more than I can say for America's WORST.

Eventually we agreed to come back on another day to complete the contacts exam and then, while searching for glasses and finalizing payment, the associate we were working with said that America's worst did not ever give free contacts exams!! We tried explaining that we were led to believe something different by another associate but that didn't seem to matter. You would think that if a family was about to spend over 300+ on glasses and contacts and was led to believe they were going to get a free contacts exam that a proper company would just give them the free $60 exam. Not America's worst though. There wasn't even a Manager on site so apparently this whole store was being led by incompetent associates.

We eventually walked out refusing to ever do business with America's WORST and I hope anyone who reads this review chooses to do the same. There are plenty of other businesses who treat their customers’ right. We don't need to give our hard-earned money to people who clearly have no respect for their customers.

Get them back and they overheated one lens (blurry). Finally got them right. So I sent in my other pair (still under warranty) to get new lenses, get them back and the idiots only replaced one lens. So I brought it to their attention and they said "oh your warranty expired (while it was in their possession) - it's not covered, you have to buy a new pair." Too good to be true, it usually is. I went in to America's Best for their 2 pair of bifocals deal. The price was pretty much where I expected it to be with the Transitions added to the lenses. I paid $255 for both pairs - one of them with Transitions and both bifocals. The problem is that they only have these ridiculous short frames instead of larger ones and they do not size them at all. Neither the width of the front piece nor the ear pieces have a size. That is just idiotic as there are so many different head sizes for people.

The other part of the complaint is that the bifocals are way too intrusive. I wanted to be able to look down to see through the bifocals to read things up close. Instead, I have to tilt my head forward so that I do not look through the bifocals more often than not. The women that drew on the lenses free hand to mark where the bifocal top would be does not know what she is doing. She was not the eye doctor she was a sales person.

If the glasses were larger to begin with and the bifocals were put all the way at the bottom the glasses would probably be fine. The combination of the two things makes the glasses give me headaches from looking through the bifocals when I do not want to. Better training and/or let the actual doctor place the bifocals and better frames would be in order. I will go elsewhere in the future.

Purchased 2 pair of glasses and paid for the eye exam $209.00. I lost one pair of the glasses and started to use the additional pair of glasses and was unable to see with them. I went in to General Vision for new glasses. I could not see as well with the glasses from General Vision. The General Vision optometrist said she gave me my new glasses depending on the prescription in the (America's Best) old glasses.

I was in Maryland a few months ago and purposely visited America's Best for new glasses. The very nice, young (black) male that assisted me, looked up my information in the system and said Ms. ??? The prescription in the glasses is not the same as the doctor prescribed. It appeared America's Best gave me a prescription and cheated me out of one pair of glasses and did not put the prescription in both pair. I left the store and did not waste time getting more of the same crap.

I returned home and contacted America's Best. I spoke with a Caucasian female who first stated she did not find my name in their system (lie # 1). I advised her I had already visited the store and had obtain my information from their system. The female then says, "We didn't have a store in that location (lie #2)." I told the female she was wrong; there was a store in that area and I could sue America's Best and obtain the information, if necessary. The female then apologized and offered me a 20% discount.

These are creeps and crooks. Don't waste your time or your money with them. Glasses are not expensive anymore and most places will give you an exam for free if you purchase their frames. Cohen Optical is very good and they have designer frames at low prices. Go there or you can order your designer frames online for a percentage of the price. Shop around and don't be cheated by America's Best. They should change that name to America' Worse. Beware and go the opposite direction from these crook, creeps, thieves, and liars. No, I would not recommend this company for my pet Max, if he needed glasses and they were free. Max is a dog, but I can't call him a dog because he thinks he is a human (smile).

America's Best really disappointed me. I've been going there for a few years because they have fairly decent prices. I unfortunately lost my sunglasses, which is not unusual for me, and they were prescription glasses. Yesterday I took some of my valuable time to go in and order a pair. I was told that I had to get an eye exam. I asked why and this person said that it was the law. I said, "You're crazy". I said, "I'm a physician". I said no one can mandate that you get medical exams except in a very special conditions.

The Department of Motor Vehicles can mandate an eye exam or the state can mandate that your kids have vaccinations or a school physical but adults can refuse medical care under pretty much any circumstances. In either and still in the case of your children or the DMV you can still refuse the exam but there will be personal consequences such as not driving but you can refuse to get the exam. And the reason they can mandated is that there's an overwhelming public interest that overrides the individual's interest

I asked her to show me the law which it seems to me they should have a summary of on hand because I'm sure they go through this a lot. I said, "Are you going to give me the glasses or not?" She said, "No". Subsequently I called the corporate offices twice and they give me the runaround. I said either the manager didn't know what she was talking about in which case she should not be a manager. Or there was an actual law and that they should be able to tell me what the law is and they couldn't. Or third, I said this is a scam perpetrated by the company. They teach the managers to word it this way to scare you into getting an exam. I am pretty sure it's the last one because they could not satisfy me at all and they had no desire to satisfy me.

I researched, in detail, the Illinois law and there's nothing there about the necessity of getting a yearly exam. One of the women said. "It's corporate policy". I said, “Well, corporate policy is not the law." And then I found out that in my file it says that I had gotten an exam there a year ago and it was written as good for one year. This is an obvious scam and a conflict of interest between their employed optometrist and the company.

So in summary, if it's corporate policy it is not law at least in Illinois it is not a law. The people I talked to in corporate were not in Illinois and yet they gave out general blanket statements about eye care. Eye care is regulated state-by-state. Most importantly the manager of the store said it was a law and gave no other explanation. This is misleading at best and fraud at worst. People have always been dishonest and corporations often deserve their reputations of being dishonest but it seems to be getting worse. Please take control of your eye care and don't be scammed. There are many conditions in which people have to be careful about their eyes and get yearly exams; if you have hypertension or diabetes and other diseases but America's Best is not the one to tell you how to take care of your eyes.

My $69.95 glasses turned into $500 of which they return $149 of but still way overpriced. It took 6 trips back to the store before I FINALLY received my glasses with the correct prescription. Within a week of wearing my new glasses they had a stress fracture all the way across one lens. Their solution was for me to drive back there so they can see it for themselves in order for me to get a new one. I refused to make that trip again and all but demanded they order me another lens. They did do as I required but very begrudgingly.

A week after my repair I called for a copy of my correct prescription with the OP on it so I could order some good glasses on line. They didn't want to send it to me but finally did with the WRONG PRESCRIPTION AND NO OP! This all began in April 2015 and by September I can hardly see out of the sunglasses. They scratch so easily. I had the tech give me the test where I have to look and see the house on the hill come in focus, then they tried the air-puff glaucoma test (I hate it, rather have the Goldmann's tonometer instead). I get talked into the Vision Field Test because they see on my form that I have high blood pressure. I don't pass it and I get told that could be a serious problem.

I finally see the optometrist. I do the phoropter and then the fun begins...the slit lamp test. She gets mad that my pupil is contracting. (I couldn't do dilation because nobody was with me to drive me back) and is yelling "LOOK AT MY EAR" while she is doing it. She gets exasperated and tells me I will have to come back and be dilated. I then go to get my glasses. That's when I find out the deal is BS. I end up getting one pair for $180 and naturally, I will have to wait maybe 2 weeks. For years I went to VisionWorks and would get my glasses the same day.

Saturday morning, I get a call, my glasses are ready. I go. The prescription is not that different and they keep slipping off my face. I am reminded to set an appointment for a dilation exam. I am told that when I come in on Tuesday (the day I was browbeaten to come in for the dilation) I should be able to get the prescription adjusted (and wait another 10-14 days). Wife is with me and as soon as we are out of the building, we head straight to VisionWorks where I SHOULD have gone before. I get an exam when I go in, get a Goldmann's tonometer instead of the air-puff, get dilated, no problems with retina. In fact, my eyes have gotten better. They didn't have the frame I wanted, but that will be read in a few days, not 10-14. America's Best...what a joke.

This review is specifically about the Colonial Heights, Va. store. I did not even get as far as having my eye appointment or ordering contacts; this review is about the chaos taking place in the store and the complete lack of professionalism exhibited by the manager on duty Saturday, October 17th 2015. When I entered the store, there were about 4-5 customers with family members waiting. At least 2 employees were up front, and one man waiting was getting agitated and began cussing loud enough that all could hear, including the children. After standing 7 minutes with no acknowledgement that I was there (two employees were helping other clients) I moved toward the back to get away from the cussing.

When it continued to escalate, one of the employees tried to address the man's concerns. She did everything right -- she listened, responded with "yes, sir," told him she would help him, but apparently he just really wanted to put on a show because he continued to cuss and then demanded to know where the bathroom was. While he was in the bathroom, the manager appeared, approached her employee, and asked what the problem was. The girl was clearly rattled by the confrontation and said she was not comfortable helping the man because he was cussing at her. The manager loudly scolded the employee and sent her to the back.

When the man came out of the bathroom ranting "**" every other word, I had had enough (and I had not been acknowledged after waiting patiently for 15 minutes) and I said to the man, "Excuse me, sir, you need to leave this store immediately. You are being very disrespectful to everyone here." Of course he challenged me and proceeded to cuss, but this would have been a great chance for management to take over. I approached the manager as the man walked toward the front cussing, and told her she should call the police if the man refused to leave.

What she did next stunned me. Instead of defending her customers, she ignored everyone waiting patiently and asked in a sweet voice how she could help this clearly irrational and out of control man. I was so stunned that the man, who could have become violent and was already verbally abusive, got his way with his tantrum. The rest of us were ignored. An employee who had been cussed at was sent away as if she had done something wrong. When the manager ignored me and catered to the rude customer, I decided I was the one who needed to leave. If you want to be able to walk around, cuss, and have a temper tantrum like a bad child, this America's Best is the place for you. If you just stand politely and wait to be acknowledged, you need to find another store.

I'm not one to take time to do these things, but I think the public should know about this business. I made an appointment for an exam and 2 pairs of glasses for $69.95. I think they worded the deal, "2 glasses with a free exam for $69.95". Now, I have regular lenses, nothing special. I picked out my 2 frames under the "$69.95" shelf, and sat down to go over everything and to pay. Now, I know I would have to pay a little more because I got sunglasses and that needed a tint, plus my regular glasses needed anti-glare. I'm thinking, maybe $125? $150? That's fair, right? I'm not looking to get a free ride, people need to get paid. No... they charged me $215.95 PLUS the $45 exam fee!!! FALSE ADVERTISING!

While I started to ask why it was so much, the guy helping me was very condescending and borderline passive aggressive. It takes me a lot to start to get angry, and this was one of those moments. I never lost my cool. I simply stood up and said that I didn't want to pay that much, so I just paid $45 for the eye exam. He was very indignant as we left, and VERY unprofessional. This was the Raleigh, NC store.

I thought it was just me having to get used to my new prescription. What the doctor said, my eyes have gotten worse within the last year. Well I did not go back to them. This time I went to my normal optometrist. My glasses were totally wrong for me from America's Best. I do not recommend this place to anybody. It will mess your eyes up. I was hesitant to schedule an appointment, but I was on a tight budget and in desperate need of glasses. I figured I would at least get the two pairs of glasses to get by until I could save up for a pair I liked. I was not expecting such a positive experience. The staff at the League City America's Best totally exceeded my expectations. The store was very clean and the glasses cases were all fully stocked. Even though I was about five minutes late due to traffic, I was able to see my doctor almost immediately. The doctor took the time to explain every test (with visuals) and what it would look like if something came back abnormal, even though all of my tests looked good. My appointment was a week ago today, and my glasses already came in. I know that there are independent stores that have bad customer service, but it definitely was not the case in League City, TX. Will recommend to everyone!

This review is specifically for their King of Prussia, PA store. My family has been coming here since 2008. 1) The first time we came here, we finished our exam and went to pick our glasses. Out of a whole wall of glasses, we COULD NOT find one pair that was decent. They were all so old-looking and ridiculously tacky. Alas, I remember I went for a BCBG gray pair that I reluctantly picked (I only wore this for like 2 weeks). So we sat down to get them adjusted and the woman COULD NOT adjust it fit for my nose. My bridge is kinda low, but I've never had this problem at previous places. She just bent the nose pads in 30 different positions (some were so ridiculous and crooked) and she finally gave up and tossed it to another old lady. She started adjusting it many times and started complaining and saying "impossible" the whole time.

Just think about what we, the consumer, was thinking. We're sitting there and these amateurs are telling me that I'm basically not fit to wear glasses. So I told them to stop, give me the glasses, we paid, we left, went down the street to Costco and got them adjusted there in 2 mins. The man at Costco didn't even say anything. He put it on my face, examined his job, and did it in one go, and they were perfect. After that incident, we NEVER bought any glasses at this place (because they are all so ugly and no one knows how to adjust glasses apparently). We took our business to Costco where their glasses are so high-end and fashionable. We only went to America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses for the contacts order and the eye exam.

    2) So 7 years went by and we only came here annually for their contacts order and exams as mentioned. Then we'd take our prescription over to Costco and got our glasses and everything else done there. It was a good system until one day I walked in for my annual exam and I tell them my name and they searched on their library of files on the wall. They couldn't find it. 3 women went to look for it and no one found it. Alright. So my 7 years of customer history here disappeared. Not a big problem for me, but I thought it was worth mentioning because it tells me that they are disorganized.

    3) My sister has a very high number on her eyes (in the 800s), so when she orders contacts, they don't have them in stock, and they order them and call us a week later to pick them up. That's how it has been for the past years. This year, after our August appointment, I called a week later and a very unprofessional girl picked up and couldn't find my sister's file for the longest time. Then she asked me a question that basically made me label her as dumb. She asked me what the number is for April. I was like, what? Then she repeated her question. Oh. 4. April is the 4th month of the year. I was just baffled. I don't even know what to say. Are these elementary kids working here?! Then she told me that the contacts are still on their way. Okay. 3 weeks later, we called again. They said they only got 6 out of the 8 boxes. Okay. We called 3 more times and no one picked up, nor did we get any calls on the status of it.

This just tells me that what actually happened at the first call was that they never even ordered them. The second call meant that they ordered the wrong number. So...IT IS OCTOBER. My sister DROVE right to the store, walked in, and basically complained that this whole thing is completely unreasonable, inappropriate, and unprofessional. They tell her that the 2 other boxes were back ordered. Okay, then why didn't you call us and tell us about this whole problem? You just took our money and went off running without us getting any of the boxes! They finally give her the 6 boxes and in replacement of the 2 boxes, gave her singles that amounted to the 2 boxes.

All-in-all, we are very dissatisfied with this place. We already stripped them of their glasses service, but now we're thinking maybe we have to strip them of their contacts service too even though we enrolled in their 4-year membership plan. If so, then what is the point of coming here anymore? For the eye exam? No thank you, we can get that elsewhere. The people here are unprofessional and uneducated and unfit for their job. Stay away.

I made my first trip to America's Best today. The eye exam was very thorough, and the doctor was caring and pleasant. The young man that took care of my eyewear order tried his best to upsell me on everything I needed, but was fine when I told him that I'm on a very tight budget and could not go over a certain amount. I have worn progressive bifocals for at least 15 years now, and I knew I didn't want to go to lined bifocals. I had been quoted approximately $170 for 2 pair of glasses and the exam, with one pair being a lined bifocal and the other pair being single vision sunglasses. I had them do one additional test on my eyes, so my total came to $178 for all.

I see many people complaining that they didn't get 2 pair of bifocals for $69.95, so I will have to assume they didn't read the signage in the store. Every sign that I saw today clearly stated that $69.95 was for an exam and two pair of glasses with single vision, plastic lenses. Just like going to a restaurant, when you add something extra from the menu, you're going to have to expect to pay for it, folks. There is no such thing as a free lunch. For all of the naysayers complaining about having to pay extra for their bifocals, keep in mind that I live in Podunk and had to pay $187 for ONE LENS less than a year ago when my frames failed and one lens popped out and hit the floor.

I was told that my glasses would be ready in 7 - 10 days, so we shall see. At this point, however, I am thrilled with the service and pricing that I received today. I lost my husband 5 months ago, so I'm not minding the 60 mile drive to go pick them up -- it will get me out of the house for a few hours, and I can take a friend along and have a nice lunch!

You pays your money, and takes your chance, is how the gamblers say it. But you really don't have a chance here. You never did. Google says these people are at a 2.2 rating which is horrible. Do not be fooled by the reviews rating that they post which is still quite low around 3.0 - I don't know where they got these numbers for their reviews, or where the reviews are? Oh wait a minute the reviews rating is in their own advertising and not Google maps. Pretty tricky.

There is "No Optician on duty here so you can't have your glasses." "No we don't have a regular optician, but there are a few licenses floating around here." The girl who owns today's licenses was misdirected to Durham and may be here this morning, we've left a voicemail." "No we can't just send them to you, that's not allowed - you will have to come back again." "Well, no I won't. I will not jump through hoops for you, please just give me my glasses (plastics) that I've paid for and you called me and said they are ready?" "No glasses for you (soup **)."

When you go there use a PayPal card so you can file your dispute easily when you get disappointed like I and so many others have been. There is so much to say about how I was treated initially that it should be another review. If you've been in the military, and have been treated like cattle by doctors before you know what I mean. All those people work here now. You don't need to understand what's happening, just move along.

These were my first glasses, which I still don't have. I expected to be led to a good buying decision with the chance for asking questions, and receiving assurance and advice about what I needed. No help with frames or even a question about sizes or style, or tension, or sunglasses. I expected to spend money and start a relationship with my new optician. I had a list of the different kinds I would need for driving, sun driving, reading, sun reading.... but I was hustled out with a 84.95 bill and two pair of plastics to be ordered. So if you feel lucky, and you are willing to bet your eyes or those of your children, then this is the place to go. I wonder if this lottery contributes to the NC education fund?

Then, I asked for the manager's name and to speak to the manager. I was told that the manager was not there and that he would be back in tomorrow around 9 am or 10 am. I called the next day and was told again that he was not there so the assistant manager tells me that my son's glasses were being shipped from Mexico and they were not sure when they would arrive. What? I think that if the customer service would make you aware that your glasses would be sent from Mexico then I would have been able to decide if I wanted to continue with the process of this transaction.

They called me the same day they saw I wrote a review. The store manager said sorry. I had a new box of contacts ready to be picked up at the store within 24-48 hours.

    Original Review: Sept. 11, 2015

Ok. For me to even be online typing up a review is totally not me. I am reasonable. People make mistakes. No one is perfect. Being in management and working in the customer service field, I am shocked by the customer service I have received from this dump. The people here need more training, or they are either just ignorant, or rude! They messed up on my order, and it has been almost two weeks, and now I'm told I have to wait longer. When I called and asked to speak to a manager, I was told to call a 1800 number... AFTER having to wait 18 minutes for them to figure out who I was.

I had a lady come back and forth on the phone asking what my name was several times, said she couldn't find me or didn't know how to find me. Do you know how irritating it is to wait five minutes... ten minutes... another five minutes... just for someone to get back on the phone, ask your name, say hold on, get put on hold for minutes, only waiting to have the same person get back on the phone several times, asking what my name is?? A week prior to this HUGE INCONVENIENCE, I called and asked how long it would take to ship contacts to my home, if I ordered online? I had a lady put me on hold for a quick second, and she got back on the phone and said after looking up my address, it would take one to two days max. I order the colors (prescription-ed) and I asked if they had any clear temp. ones for my eyesight that I can use until the order comes in. I was told yes.

I then told the lady instead of shipping to my home, I will go to the location directly (AMERICA'S BEST CONTACTS AND EYEGLASSES 780 East Rd to Six Flags) and just pay for my order, and at the same time get the clear prescription-ed temp pair to use. I paid for my order, WAS FACE TO FACE TOLD AND LIED TO THAT I WOULD GET THEM IN A COUPLE DAYS, and I even have a receipt stating I would get them by Sept 7th, 8th being the latest, because of the 7th being labor day. Yesterday, Sept 10th, I called and wondered how come I haven't gotten a call or why they weren't in yet. After dealing with the unprofessional, rude, and boring/annoyed tone of voice lady/child/kid that took my calls trying to figure out who I was for over 15 minutes, she finally came back and said it would be shipped in 7-10 business days.

EXCUSE ME?! I was told I would have them back earlier this week, two - Why would you ship them, when I said I would pick up in store (like I was told and like my receipt says) Three - If I did chose to have it shipped, why am I being told 7-10 business days, and a week ago, told that if I did WANT to have it shipped it would be no longer than two days. SHOCKED, ANGRY AND UNSATISFIED - I asked to talk a manager. I was told to call a 1800 number and I can track my order because no one wanted to take my call because everyone was busy. Since I have no explanation and no good reasoning to why my contacts that HELP ME SEE AND SOMETHING SO IMPORTANT TO ONE are taking SO LONG, I'm assuming, and I'm 99% sure, they did not order or forgot to order my contacts on the first week of September when I went.

A simple apology or someone more comforting and professional on the other side would have been more of a better experience. Now I am still waiting for my contacts that will take up to almost 3 weeks total of wait time until I get them, and that's if I will really get them by 7-10 business days, since I am unsure of the real shipping waiting time, since I was told 1-2 days another time. Will not be going back! EVER. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR ANYONE WHO IS VALUED OF THEIR TIME, DOES NOT WANT TO BE LIED TO, EXPECTS DECENT CUSTOMER SERVICE... ETC. From, a very upset customer that is still waiting on contacts.

First off, I want to start by saying that their stores are filthy! Very disgusting and dirty place. The staff is very unfriendly and unprofessional. They have inexperienced Opticians helping you with your eyeglasses. They must just hire anyone and train them to sell (and upsell) because when I went in to get my progressive eyeglasses checked not even one Optician knew what to do, or how to check the prescription on my eyeglasses and they refused to let me see doctor to get the prescription checked. They kept saying they will "adjust" my eyeglasses to see if it helped, but they were horrible at adjusting and doing their job. Their frames are cheaply made and not durable (even some designer). Mine started peeling off the same week and I take good care of my eyeglasses. Do not waste your money in this ** company, it is NOT worth it.

I was never able to get my eyeglasses or prescription right and wasted over $400 for nothing, and no one ever bothered to do something about it, not even management. They just have an arrogant and unprofessional manager. Go to LensCrafters or somewhere else, it is a bit more expensive for their same day service but it's well worth it and at least they are professional and their Opticians and management are professional, well trained, and know how to do their job professionally. I would not recommend America's Best to anyone. I haven't been the only one with a bad experience with this company. Many friends and relatives experienced something similar or worse and we are NOT coming back or recommending this crappy company to anyone. Do not waste your time or money here.

I went in to AB for an eye exam and glasses. Went to pick up my 2 pair of glasses went back not even a week later as one pair was good, I could see out of it, but the second pair I could not see. They told me then that they made one pair off the new prescription and the other pair off my old glasses. I said, "why?" They said some people have a hard time adjusting to bifocal. I told them I paid for 2 new pair of glasses with the new prescription and that is what I want. So they sent them back again. I have been in there 4 times to have them adjust them - the legs are too long, so they bend them and now they stick out too far.

I then went to another AB and order new frames and glasses. When I got them, they were not the frames I had ordered. So they then re-ordered one pair as they couldn't find the other frame I had ordered. So I went back to swap out the lens in the one pair I didn't order for the one pair they ordered. Then I couldn't see out of the bifocal, they had put them on the wrong side. So now there again, I have to go back and have them change them around. All these mistakes are their fault and I will never go back. They say you get what you pay for. The nosepiece hurt my nose and gave me headaches, so they changed it. Well it wasn't any better and it broke. What gets me is that no one takes responsibility for their mistakes, they blame it on the other person.

I went to your Bellingham location yesterday and had an eye exam and bought 2 pair of glasses. I just wanted you to know every person in that location was really great. They were so helpful. I walked in the door and immediately the person at the desk welcomed me and got me started. Then the next person called my name in less than 5 minutes. She took me back to the first room and did her part by doing the preliminary tests. When we finished, she took me to the waiting room. Again I was there for less than 5 minutes and the doctor came. After the exam she took me back to the entrance where all the frames were located. I picked out my frames and the sales rep took great care of me. The whole thing was a great experience. I don't know how the actual glasses will be, but I will let you know.

I went to America's Best for eyeglasses after getting contacts from a different source. I was told over the phone that the advertisement was accurate. After waiting a half hour while the exam staff had a 30 minute social conversation with the door open I went to the desk to inquire if the 2 pair for $69.95 was a true and accurate statement and was summarily informed that the exam was free, the eyeglasses were $59.00 but the prescription could start at $160.00 on the low end. So we're spending $200.00 walking in the door even before we get to purchase glasses other than the cheap $59.00 in the false promotion. I asked again about the price and why I had to wait 40 minutes for an appointment that I needed to arrive 15 minutes early for. It was a good decision to ask about their policy before giving them any banking or credit information. My appointment was canceled immediately and I went back to my previous doctor.

The stem fell off, we went to store, the representative Virginia started arguing the warranty in front of everyone in the store - rude, disrespectful, unprofessional!!! She continued to refuse the warranty. I asked for paperwork, she printed a form that has no signature from Mike, nor does it say warranty was used, glasses replaced! It was outrageous the way she over and over argued with me. Finally said, "I will GIVE you that!" I paid for this purchase and warranty! She has no right to berate, argue in a public setting with a store full of customers! That Virginia is rude, and not a rep that I want to have do that to me as a customer!!!

I actually got my glasses from America's Best about 2 years ago. The service was very good as all staff has always been friendly but the glasses are terrible. I got 2 pair and immediately the clerk had raised the advertised "2 for $69" all the way up to over $400 with extras. I finally agreed to a pkg that included tint, a year of insurance and glare free. Well, my second pair never fit properly and ended up breaking and the tint was quite deceiving. It didn't match what I was shown when ordering & I basically paid for tint but they really weren't. I wouldn't recommend ever spending your money with this company and I certainly won't ever be again.

Also a friend of mine ordered tinted glasses with them a year ago and the tint started peeling off after she got in the pool.

My glasses finally broke on Saturday night (bought at America's Best 3 or so years ago). Sunday morning I started checking America's Best locations and found 2 that were open on Sunday. I scheduled an appointment online at the location in Crestwood, MO. I also checked out the reviews that were posted and got a bit uneasy because of all of the negative ones. I got to the store a few minutes late and it was very crowded. The receptionist informed me that it would be a little bit and had me fill out the paperwork.

After that I started looking at frames, found 2 that I liked and was then called back for the first exam. Went back to the waiting area and was quickly called back by the doctor. She was AWESOME. I don't believe I have ever had such a thorough exam including explanations. It was then time to order the glasses. The girl taking care of me was also very helpful and patient. There was absolutely NO PRESSURE to upgrade or buy the more expensive things. I am looking forward to getting my new glasses. I would recommend this store to all.

They told me to go ahead and choose my frames (I was getting the two pair bi-focals for 99.95). A few minutes after that I was taken for my exam. I only waited a short time for someone to come and measure the bifocal lines. That was on July 25th. They said it would be the 10th of Aug. when my glasses would come in and I got a call on the 4th that they were ready and I could come in that same day to get them and get any needed adjustments. They were very busy but I only waited about 15 minutes. I got excellent service and was told I could come in any time if I needed further adjustments or any other type of help. Everyone was extremely friendly and I appreciated that very much.

Within 4 months, the lenses were so scratched, I had to get new ones. About 3 months later, the frames broke and had to be replaced. Now the lenses are so scratched again, I am forced to wear my old glasses (about 4 years old) until I can get back to my eye doctor and get a new script. I will never go back to America's Best - should be called America's worst!

It would have cost us $170 if she skipped the "free" exam. We both wear bifocals. Also, I really can't see good out of these glasses. I'll be taking them back within the next couple of days. I've had them less than a week. Can anyone testify that they only paid $69.

I read some of the negative reviews, I would not get an appointment at my eye doctor. I had my prescription so I only needed one pair of glasses. I knew I had a astigmatism and moderate numbers that put me out of the Deal. 2 pairs for 69.99. When I was approached by the receptionist I told her I would need the thinner polycarbonate lenses due to my prescription. She was informative and told me that that lens cost 90.00 dollars plus the 60.00 for frames. The total would be 150.00. She then showed me the frames available. She then said "take your time and pick one you like."

After fitting the glasses, I ask "how much for a second pair?" I was informed that a second pair would only cost me 50.00 dollars more so I went ahead and bought the second pair. I was pleasantly surprised at how friendly and not pushy and made me relaxed as a customer. I would not of been more happy about my experience. Do your homework. Bring your prescription because unless you have a very slight eye prescription you will be paying the minimum of at least 150.00. But know why you want expect to drop a 150.00 not 69.99 as advertised. Do your due diligence and you should have a good experience.

I purchased two pairs of trifocals at the store in Vestal, NY. I could not see well with either pair. After 3 - 4 trips to the store (I live 45 minutes away), I had my ophthalmologist's office compare their script to America's Best (AB). They were very different. The exam at AB was not as thorough as my eye doctor's was. AB stuck to their policy and were kind enough to get me new lenses with my doctor's script. The script works much better for me. I had to go in twice to pick them up as I received a recorded message the first time which I was not supposed to get. Only one pair was there. When I had the person check the fit, she was so rushed as others were out and the store was very busy. My primary pair did not fit well. I made some adjustments myself and finally got them to feel good and fit well.

When I went in to get my sunglasses, I asked the gentleman helping me to replace one of the nose pads. He went to the counter and when he came back, they didn't fit or feel good! I asked him why. He said he adjusted the bows and other things. I kept my composure, but I was FURIOUS. He played with them a couple more times. I knew they were still not right. After shopping in the area, I came back. He looked at them and said there was a dirt on one lens. He cleaned them and asked me if the glasses were ok. They were NOT ok, but I knew he had no idea how to make adjustments. He said to come back if I needed to. At that point, I decided I would never walk in that store again.

Everyone is very nice there, but I feel there is a lack of professionalism. I feel that AB might be good for a person with a single script. But I wear bifocals and have astigmatism. I will be going to my eye doctors office to get the glasses adjusted.

Received a bad precision cut lens on one of the glasses without polished edges on both. Manager gave me only 69.95 instead of 104.95 as paid to leave the store. And before I left, the manager said "the technicians will not do polished lens for you cause I won't let them, because we can't service you. More so, the o.d doesn't have time to adjust your reading lens." This place on belt line is evil!

Doctor Thomas ** at the Tatum and Thunderbird branch in Phoenix, AZ is the stupidest eye doctor I have ever come across in my life. Firstly, he will make you visit the office several times before you can even get your prescription. Secondly, I told him several times to prescribe me Acuvue Advanced. The only reason he won't is because they are discontinued and he can't make money at this office by prescribing them. I told him several times that 1-800-Contacts have the contacts I want in stock and I have worn them and never had issues with them. Unlike Acuvue 2 (that he did prescribe) which makes my eyes dry. When I told him that the Acuvue 2 contacts make my eyes dry, he told me to wear my glasses and not wear contacts for more than 3-4 hours a day. WHAT THE F??? What an idiot!!!

And Sue, who answers the phone is just as stupid or stupider than the doc. She would ask 3-4 times what your name is when you call and then she won't be able to find the records anyway and ask you to come in person... like no one has a life and visiting the office 5-10 times is normal. I have already paid them for the contacts prescription, so now the only choice I have is to go to Walmart and pay another eye doctor to give me the prescription I want. Trust me... run the other way! Their deals are a complete waste of time and the customer service is horrible. Go to a Walmart eye doctor.

If verification is required why am I charged hours before the company knows if an order can even be placed? Very angry!

This was awful customer service. It's never good to sacrifice or take customer's time for granted only so that you don't risk having to stay a few minutes later. How dare you care more about locking your door on time than caring for new customers needing care. America's Best my foot. More like America's Worse. After 1 year and 3 mos the earpiece on my sunglasses I purchased at America's Best broke. The break was where the metal of the earpiece met the plastic that goes around the ear. We knew the 1-year warranty on the frames had expired so did not expect them to replace the frames. We did, however, think they would consider ordering an earpiece and replacing the broken part at a reasonable cost to us. That did not happen. The ONLY thing they offered was a pair of new frames for $99.00 and would NOT discuss it any further. He asked to speak to the manager and the person he was speaking to said, I am the manager. This has been a 1 star experience at best. I walked into the store a few days before just to see if I liked any glasses they had. Nobody greeted me, nobody offered any help, nobody acknowledged my presence. This in itself should have been a red flag. But unfortunately, I returned to get my eye exam and two pairs of glasses. Once again, nobody greeted or acknowledged me in any way. I waited 10 minutes just to talk to someone to get started. I knew what frames I wanted and what I thought would be an hour at most turned into over two hours of waiting and standing around. Five minutes was for the actual eye exam. After waiting, and waiting, I finally sat down with somebody to show them the frames and what I wanted done to them. And the woman sits there and talks smack on the customer before me. Did she talk about me to the next customer as well?

After listening to her gossip and get her computer ready, I showed her the frames I wanted. I specifically said, "I do not want anything done to the lenses" on one of the frames. I paid $45 for glare protection on the other pair. I chose the $99 frames and the $60 frames for a total of what was advertised being around $130. So here I am thinking with the glare protection my total will be $175. Wrong. It was $310. The woman told me the lenses were $135. At this point I was completely annoyed and did not have time to argue because we had to pick up the kids from daycare. They give you an overview of what you were charged for only after you pay. And what do you know, I was charged $45 for the extra stuff I specifically said I did not want on the one pair of glasses.

Bottom line, what is advertised is not happening, even when you read the fine print and let them know you want the single vision lenses that are advertised. And what's more, when they say 7-10 days, apparently that isn't happening either. It is now day 11 or 12, I've received no phone call letting me know my glasses are there. I've called 6 times over the course of the morning only to get a busy tone every time. I'm fed up with this place, this is my second time going to them and it will be my last. I would gladly pay a little more to not have to deal with incompetent, seemingly antisocial employees who make it apparent that they hate their jobs.
