I thought that $69 for 2 pair of glasses including the eye exam was too good to be true... To my surprise: the exam used state of the art machines. Great experience. The manager of Dania **, Paul, was so incredibly helpful! The frames were really nice! So I even bought a third pair - as sunglasses!

I went to America's Best for a new contact lens prescription in January. I have an allergy to silicone-based products and have specific contact lens materials that do not irritate my eyes. I told the doctor all about it. The brand of contact lens I had been wearing had been discontinued, so the doctor ordered me trial lenses in another brand. They burned my eyes because they were NOT made of the material I can use. This happened twice more. Three times she ordered lenses that burned my eyes AND it took FIVE MONTHS. In May I asked for a refund and a prescription to take elsewhere. They very grudgingly agreed. When I got home I realized they had given me an envelope containing a prescription for EYEGLASSES, not contact lenses. This is why I added SNEAKY along with INEPT and UNPROFESSIONAL to their description. GO ELSEWHERE.

We had an appointment 2.50PM and after 40 minutes wait we asked what was going on and they said "Well... It's been very busy today...it will soon be your turn!". Not even "We're so sorry, we'll give you discount or something for compensation" or anything, they barely flinched or cared. They suck! They don't care about you as customer, so avoid them. I expected bad experience from a low price provider but that was just really, really bad. So after 50 minutes we left and do not have any intention of ever going there again!

Contact lenses are considered medical devices, therefore you cannot switch brands without approval by federal law. When you go to America's Best you are written prescription for their in house brand which is not carried by other, cheaper online retailers. The cost of a year of contacts through America's Best is $300. For the same contacts under a different name (think brand name and generic) through Contact Lens King you pay $104. But because the NAME is different the eye doctor must approve this. Which they don't like to do because now you aren't buying their grossly overpriced contacts. If a medical doctor refused to prescribe you medicine that you could obtain at a better price from a different pharmacy they would lose their license. This should be no different.

I had an eye exam at America's Best, I was informed I had cataracts and that why I'm seeing double/blurry. I went to LensCrafters and there's no sign of cataracts. If you go to America's Best you'll definitely need a second opinion. Also, frames are cheap garbage!!!

Worst pair of glasses I have EVER had. And I'm old. Never again. Glasses weren't 6 months old and full of scratches. NOTE: I ALWAYS used the special cloth. Always. I'm thinking (1) they charged me for but didn't do the coating or (2) it was done poorly with cheap materials. My advice: don't go there... I won't.

If low reviews isn't enough, they also have a D rating with B.B.B. 1st visit: should have walked out when (dr.) ** (llr license **) asked me to guess, and I'm using the term Doctor lightly. Michelle was great at helping me pick out glasses. She also informed me the (doc.) didn't do a contact exam even though I requested one, but no biggie. They could use what exam they got. 2nd visit: picked up trial contacts and glasses. Great staff. 3rd visit: left eye on glasses and contacts was wrong. They said wait 2 weeks adjustment period, which I did. 4th visit: Doctor wasn't there Wed. or Thurs so I made an appointment. 5th visit: which was an appointment. ** informed me I only had a contact lens exam appointment (which was a lie) so she would try to get the glasses right when the 2nd trial contacts came back.
6th visit made an appointment for contact trial fitting and glasses redo exam. When she called me up she asked me the left one didn't work? I told her I was there for the fitting because at the last appointment she told me I should have been fitted when I picked up the trials. She said I would have to wear them an hour before the exam, left with trials to try over the weekend hoping they worked and just make a redo exam for left glass lens. Last visit went back to get a refund on contacts and glasses. Waiting on a refund for them, but they got me for $119 for the useless exam. The manager (Michelle) was really concerned and offered a different Doctor, but after reading reviews and a D with Better Business Bureau I chose to lose the $119 rather than wait until their 30 day policy was up and lose $700. They also had a sign on the door which prohibits firearms. I don't think they have anything to worry about, I would hate to see their clients aim.

My first eyeglass prescription with them was wrong. Blurry vision. I thought my eyes were getting worse. Almost had unneeded cataract surgery. I didn't realize that they made a mistake. So I returned to them again with a new prescription and the 2nd pair were the same, blurry vision. Each time I spent upwards of $300.00. How stupid I was. Thinking it was my eyes. Then I went with 2nd prescription to get a cheaper pair at Walmart. PERFECT VISION WITH WALMART GLASSES! DON'T GO THERE. I will never return to them.

I thought the advertised deal of 2 pair of glasses for $69.99 including exam was awesome until I picked out my glasses. The total came to be over $470. I barely got I of there for no less than $270. Apparently the 69.99 deal came with glasses that they didn't have in stock. All in all it was a big rip off and the glasses that I did get didn't improve my vision very well. NEVER AGAIN.

Made appointment for eye exam and wanted to purchase two pairs of single vision glasses at the special price of 69$. Had exam and when it was time for the glasses they would not give me the special because I have cataracts and they claim I must have polycarbonate lenses. I only needed glasses for a few months until I get my surgery but to no avail would they let me purchase the special. Dr. Would not change recommended prescription, wanted me to purchase glasses for 320.00 just to wear for 2 months. Will never go back to America’s Best because they are the Worst!

I sent my son in to get a exam and buy glasses 06/13/2019. After seeing the Doctor and getting his prescription he was assisted with picking out glasses with the help of Belinda. My son has a strong prescription, Belinda made sure to help him pick a frame that was best for him and lens options to optimize his vision. As a parent I cannot say enough about the patience and helpfulness of the employees and Doctor. Great job to Ross and his team on running a quality establishment and taking care of their customers.

Purchased glasses several weeks ago, originally delivered with lenses that did not fit the frame. Remake took several weeks, did not meet my timeline so had to travel abroad without vision. Returned from work travel and glasses had been delivered, but these are the wrong frame now, they are a different style and do not fit my face at all. Called in and they tell me these glasses match their paperwork, so it's on me to come back to start over or get a refund. I leave again for China in two weeks, so no way I get them back before another three weeks out of country. WTF is the problem here?! I just want the glasses I paid for.
Very nice people. Terrible quality assurance and if the computer conflicts with the customer, the assumption is the computer is right. No offer of compensation, just a half apology and the burden of resolution is placed on the customer. Bottom line, I've gone way out of my way to project manage this for them, and they haven't gone out of their way for me at all. They still have my money and I still have no resolution.

While in Brandon, Fl I went to America's Best and got an eye exam and purchased 2 pair of glasses. Glasses are only several months old. Two days ago a screw fell out of the lens holder on the pair I was wearing. I started wearing the other pair. Today one of the nose pads fell off of the 2nd pair. I am back in Illinois so it is not feasible to return to original store for repairs. I am very less than pleased.

We have all seen the ad for exam and eyeglasses $69.95. So when they charge the insurance only $20.00 for the exam and charge my CC $49.95, when the insurance pays up to $70.00 for the glasses, what is wrong with this billing. Total to them is $139.95, they jack up the price on the glasses so they can charge more.... That stinks!!

America's Best Frisco, Texas is horrible! Went in and explained I needed a Dr's note for my work. I was very specific about what the note needed to say. I was told by an older lady at the front desk, "No problem. We can write the note for you and take care of you." I had to pay for the eye exam and ended up purchasing computer glasses. Dr. Preetty ** wrote a very generic note. I told her the front desk told me she would write the note. She wrote only a generic note. My work rejected it.
Yesterday I went back in, spoke to the same older ** lady at the desk who wrote specifically what I needed in the note and gave it to the Dr. The DR, same Indian lady, came out and refused to rewrite or modify the note. I explained what I was told when I made the appointment and paid for an eye exam. She refused to do anything. Clearly she is a terrible, rude and very unprofessional DR. She could care less about her patients. The lady at the front desk is a liar. I would have never given these people a dime if I would have known I was being lied to and scammed. They should NOT have told me, "No problem. We will write the note." if they would not. Avoid this location and Dr. Preety **. Total waste of money and time.

I went in for the exam and the $69 for two pair of glasses. I did finally get them but all I got was plastic lenses. No tent. No bifocals and some plastic frames that broke on day two. This place is nothing but a hard sell. They want to sell you over for $500 worth of equipment even with your insurance. I am older than the person that was trying to sell them to me and I have never paid that kind of money for glasses anywhere and never will again so if you have time to go in for a hard sales go ahead.
Once I told him I wasn't going to buy the expensive glasses all I wanted was the $69 ones they showed me three pair of frames I can pick from but I had to sit down and wait another hour and a half for someone to help me because the person doing the hard sales couldn't help me. If I wasn't spending that kind of money you'll be there all day. The eyewear and the frames are not worth the $69. Not real sure that the exam was even worth it. It was very short probably five minutes. I've never had an eye exam that quick before in my life.

I went in 04/19/19 & ordered Two pairs of glasses. I paid over $225.00 for these Two pairs. One of my pairs was lost & I didn’t receive it until 05/10/19. The manager blamed the employee, “he’s new; still learning” & blames the lab, “they forgot your order”. Customer Service blamed the delivery driver, “your order was lost”. Either way, no one tried to rectify the problem. I wasn't even credited a percentage for the poor customer service, not even an apology was given when I picked up the last pair.

Contact lenses are medical devices and right now I am stuck with the wrong ones and cannot get this company to even acknowledge or correct this. The store ordered wrong contacts, were notified immediately, did not cancel wrong order, now unable to get them to fulfill correct order. Ignores emails. The store didn't know the difference between Sofmed 1-Day and Sofmed 1-Day breathable contacts. They entered the latter when the prescription as written by the doctor was for the former - the same lenses I have gotten from America's Best for years... The same ones clearly marked by the doctor on the prescription.
I notified the store immediately before leaving. They did not cancel the order. It shipped. They did not then place the correct order, instead they told me to wait for the wrong box to show up, bring it back, and *then* they will order the correct ones. I cannot work without contacts so it was not tenable for me to add 2 weeks into delivery time. Instead I simply ordered the correct ones from the site, as the store claimed they corrected the prescription. This is where the horrid customer service from the store transitions into horrid online support. They held the order as the prescription info was still incorrect.
I have now contacted order fulfillment, as directed by the email, multiple times and gotten NO RESPONSE. I have in fact never received a response from their online support. The fact that I still have the wrong contacts, was charged for the wrong contacts, was expected to wait unnecessarily and two weeks later cannot even get them to allow me to order the correct ones is outrageous. The wrong box should be refunded, the correct order should be released from its arbitrary hold and shipped immediately.

On April 13, 2019, I ordered progressive lens glasses (from a Kelsey Seybold optometrist prescription) from America’s Best in Webster, TX at a total cost of $389. After a long 10 days wait for the glasses to be ready, the frames and prescription were wrong. However, store staff was trying to indicate the “outside” dr prescription could be wrong and frame was correct. Without actually admitting the frame and prescription were wrong, they reordered the glasses with the frame originally chosen with the correct prescription (or so I thought!). After waiting another 8 days for the correct eyeglasses, I still thought the frames didn’t look quite right but frame # matched my original choice. When I again said it did not provide clear vision, the store staff again tried to point out it was an “outside” prescription.
When I told them I would take these to my dr, they said I had 30 days from time of order to return them. Of course, since it had taken so long to get the glasses in hand, I wanted in writing my deadline date to bring them back. As they were checking into this, I glanced at the documents they had left on the table in front of me. The document that accompanied the eyeglasses from the lab stated my prescription: Sphere on right eye was +4.00 (rounded up from 3.99). HOWEVER, my prescription was +3.00. When this was brought to their attention, the glasses were immediately taken to the back to have the actual lens specifications checked. It was confirmed, the right lens was +4.00 not +3.00. And one of the staff STILL indicated..."they round up”. I just said to cancel the order. It’s so sad that no one in lab caught this error nor did any of the store’s staff showing very poor quality control. Do not recommend this company for eyeglasses.

I have to question whether or not the ophthalmologists are even licensed! I was told by one that a miracle had occurred and that the astigmatism that I have had since the age of 9 was gone. Keep in mind I am 45. When I questioned if this was possible I was told that everyday wear of corrective lenses can do just that. I have been in the medical field myself for 17 yrs but am not a doctor so I questioned no more. 6 months later I went back only to be told by a different doctor in the SAME office that her colleague was full of **! SERIOUSLY? If I had not already spent the money for their eye club I would have walked out but seriously, no apology to the patient who wasted time. Not to mention now has vision that is way worse after wearing lenses that were nowhere near the right script! I will never recommend this place again. If the deal seems too good to be true...IT IS!! But I just went to an eye doctor here in town because some lands and my one eyeglass keeps on falling out and they told me that it doesn't have anything and it's just a big piece of glass. But my other lens has Progressive and no wonder I've been getting sick my glasses back several times and had the scary place and no one ever told me that it was my left. Bought one pair and when I picked them up decided to also pick up the second pair for the Special offering. Had difficulties with pair #1 fitting properly and made daily trips back until it was finally corrected. This was not the fault of AB, but of the sensitivity I have with wearing glasses. MARGIE continued to make adjustment for me with a SMILE and understanding until she knew I was fully satisfied. So finally after about 5 trips back, I think we there with the adjustments, but yet so was reminded IF I still have any problems to make sure to return for further adjustments. Nothing but the old "bait and switch" jazzed up. They claim 2 pairs of glasses for $69.99. But they don't tell you a "protection package" is added to each one. My husband and I have been customers of America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses for the last two years, even becoming "members" paying the extra fee. Two years ago I never received my contacts weeks after my husband had, so I called to report this. Fast forward to a month ago, when I called to report that this time I again did not receive my contacts when my husband did - and I was accused of lying about not receiving my contacts in the mail. And with a nasty tone being told I "have a history" of doing this.
After calling USPS myself to clarify the package had never been delivered, I called customer service to report this. The woman then told me the package in fact was returned to the America's Best facility as it never reached its destination. EXACTLY WHAT I WAS SAYING! This is NOT how a business should be treating its customers, and frankly left me feeling extremely disgusted. Accusing someone of lying and fraudulent behavior? There is NO excuse for this. I barely received an apology from the employee, and was never offered reimbursement or any sort of incentive to continue my business with this company. Needless to say I will NOT be returning, and recommend others to stay away.

I was a little skeptical after reading some reviews. I had gone to one very expensive highly rated eye dr. for over 20 years. A year ago, they told me I had cataracts that needed to be corrected. Once it was determined my insurance would not cover, I didn't have the amount needed to even be able to schedule and of course, no payments accepted, I could not do the surgery. They didn't care, didn't offer to help. I have spent thousands over the years in this place. But they wouldn't help. I decided to take this route.
DR was excellent! I DO have cataracts. Not bad enough for surgery yet. Gena, the eyeglass lady was so wonderful! Very helpful, honest and willing to take all the time needed in making my decisions. I went to America's Best in Moline, IL because they advertised a free eye exam and two pair of glasses for like $59.99 or something like that. The first red flag was that the optometrist who examined me did it shockingly fast. I've never had such a fast eye exam and I have been wearing glasses since 2008. I was worried then that my prescription wouldn't be correct, but just brushed it off as he was fast because he was good at his job, after all, he does this all day. But sure enough, once my glasses came in the prescription was so wrong that they made me dizzy when wearing them. I even commented on it while in the store and the woman fitting me said there was a slight change in my prescription and that I probably just needed to wear them and get used to them. I tried. And they continued to make me dizzy and make my eyes ache.
So I went back and the same doctor gave me another 1-2 min eye exam and said he didn't give me the wrong prescription but that he was going to make "a slight adjustment". I asked if he included my slight astigmatism in the previous prescription because all the other optometrists had left it off my prescription, and he said "It was so slight I didn't mention it." Which I am not clear on if he meant he didn't mention it to me or in his prescription to the factory that makes the glasses.
At any rate, he says he made a slight change and I get them back a week later... They are a tiny bit better but I still feel as though they are not quite right and are straining my eyes. My eyes still bother me when I have them on and feel like they are really working to correct the miscalculation. I'm not sure of what to do at this point. I feel they should get them exactly right since I ended up spending almost 300 dollars when I thought I would only be spending about 100 tops, which is another issue altogether. I would say don't waste your money at this place and go somewhere where they will take their time with your exam because your eyes are too important for someone to just rush through an exam like that.

Great prices! WORST SERVICE!!!! The America's Best in Memphis on HWY 64 should be avoided at all cost. True the prices are nice, but good luck on getting what you pay for. I should have known that my frame order would go wrong when at the same time I was ordering, 2 customers came to pick up their glasses and got the wrong glasses back. I was told my glasses would take 2 weeks to arrive. Three weeks went by and no call. I called to check and heard "Oh they are on backorder." No one bothered to inform me of that, but cool. The next day they called to say the frames arrived. I drive 20 minutes to pick them up. When I left the store in the car I noticed they were bent on the side. I went back in and the only person (Robert) that can help you reorder is busy with walk in customer and wanted me to wait over 45 mins. for him to help me with my screwed up order. Even though there were 6 other workers there. 2 doing nothing at all!
So after 20 mins. I told another representative that if he could not help me now I will leave the frames here for him to do a reorder or I can get my money back. She said ok. I called hours later to see if he had reordered them, and he said yes but he fixed the frames I had. I drove another 20 mins. to get them, THEY WERE STILL BENT! I left before I tore the damn place up! The reordered frames came a week later. So all in all a damn MONTH to receive what I paid for!!! It’s idiotic to only have one person out of 6 people to be able to order and hand out customers purchases. WILL NEVER GO BACK!!! I even had to ask for a frame case for all my trouble.

However, the doctor said if I had problems with new brand to come back as that I have worn contacts for 100 years. Just joking but a long time. I have been this particular doctor prior to coming a patient of America's Best. This doctor had another practice before joining AB. So today, I go in to pick up contacts with my insurance. The contacts the doctor prescribed are suppose to be in stock in the store. However, today they are not in stock. So the young lady offers to order them for me and tell me it will be a week before they come in. I thought that was the reason I changed contacts so I didn't have to order and wait for them. Anyways, I said fine.
So, they bills my insurance for new contacts and proceeds to tell me that she will get me a trial pair until those come in since, they didn't have any in the store. So, the next thing I know, the optometrist on duty comes up in a very nasty way and says we cannot give any contact unless, you do another eye exam. Huh? She then goes on to say, that I never came back for a follow up exam for the new brand of contacts. I said, "Lady, I wasn't told I needed to come back for a followup. I was told if I had problems with the new brand of contracts to come back and I could switch back to my old brand." She sucks her teeth... I tell her and the young lady that was helping me that I was not going to do another eye exam since they seen I had new eye insurance. Scammers.
I asked for my order to be cancelled as to not to use up my benefits. Some guy then proceeds to ask what happen when he heard what happen. I told her just make sure that my visit there with insurance company was cancel. I will never good back there EVER. They just want to get as much money out your insurance as possible. Plus, customer is bad and employees are not trained properly.

I bought two pairs of glasses from America's Best. One pair of sunglasses (Digivue Elite) and one pair of day to day glasses (DigiVue Advanced). I was told I could not get Digivue Elite for my day to day glasses without paying extra for special lenses... This is not my first pair of progressives. I wore them for a week and found the quality of the field of view to be terrible. With my day to day glasses, I could not even read text on my phone without drastically moving my head to keep the text in focus. Something I Do Not Have To Do Now, with my current pair of progressives! The sunglasses, which are supposed to be even better than my day to day were even WORSE. I can barely read my phone and driving with them was so annoying and difficult since I could barely read anything on my dashboard without completely taking my eyes off the road to look directly at anything!
Needless to say, I returned the lenses despite the fact that I had to eat the $50 charge for the exam. Something that I also find offensive. If your product doesn't work, I should get a full refund. Either get the product right or refund all the money. Please save yourself the time and money and spend a little extra on glasses. I learned my lesson.

Do not count on anything they say as truth. My glasses always seemed to lose one lens. When you have not been in the store for a couple years, they send you a postcard with a coupon - Save $50 on Eyeglasses and another coupon - Free Eye Exam. When I took the $50 off coupon to America's Best, the 2 pairs of eyeglasses that they sell normally for $69, with an eye exam were now priced at $98 after being discounted $50. What a scam.

Also, the bifocal area was measured incorrectly... I had to push my glasses up on my nose in order to see through the bifocal area clearly. Additionally the glasses were apparently not measured properly as I could get my finger in both sides of the frame. After a numerous trips I decided to go back and get a full refund. I would not recommend this place! I ultimately had two vision tests from 2 different doctors because the 1st one from who the script was written it reported that I couldn't see clearly from them so they had to be sent back after a 2nd visit resulting in a 2nd script. And even after the 2nd visit, I wasn't happy with the vision using those glasses.

I was given a price of $220 however after walking through the door the prescription cost increase my purchase to over $400. I was not prepared for this and expressed my concern that the commercials stated absolutely nothing about an increase in prescription price. Also the frames that you select from of course are of a lower quality and anything above the blue sticker increases the price dramatically. The good thing is I am getting two pairs of glasses for this price but it definitely is not what was expected when I made my appointment based on commercials and information given to me over the phone.

A whole month passed and I had to call to see what was taking so long. I spoke to 2 different employees. The first one told me that I lied and I just submitted my order like 2 weeks ago. This will be my first time of going to this company. I went there to have an eye exam, a glasses with tint on it. Firstly, I had to go back to them because my frame had a huge opening between the nose gap and my frame was changed. Not long after, I went back again because my glasses was blurry, dirty and I cannot see something like a needle. I was told when I got to them that I need a bifocal which I never used before. I left and contacted their customer service online via e-mail.
After back and forth chatting, they concluded that I have to go back to the store, take another eye exam and then maybe get another eyeglasses with bifocals. This is not the solution I expected and so sent an e-mail back that I cannot do that because the last time I was told the only solution is a bifocal and you are telling me the same. I never heard from them afterwards and I still couldn't see with the glasses they gave me. All of this happened between December 2018 and February 2019.

America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses is perhaps the worst place you could select to purchase contacts or eyeglasses. I purchased two pair of glasses with insurance protection on both. The frame on one pair broke and they refused the honor the claim. What this means is that protection insurance is merely a cash cow for this company. They basically collect cash from customers under the disguise of protection insurance, which is some cases, amounts to about 50% of the total purchase. When and if the frames or glasses breaks, they then claim they have no record of the purchase. America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses does a great deal of advertising. They tout their low prices and quick service.
But this is only partially true. They do in fact have very low prices. But these low prices are directly contributable to the low quality of frames and glasses they sell. You get what you pay for. The designer frames I purchased only lasted for 4 months before a structural defect was discovered. Honestly, I would have been better off going the a more reputable, long established contacts and eyeglasses place like LensCrafters or Cohen's Fashion Optical. At least this way I’d know I was buying high quality frames that won’t fail in 3 months. Avoid America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses. You get what you pay for.

After signing in I waited about 30 mins to be called into another room just to wait some more. After finally getting my names called again, I go into a small office where I thought I was going to finally get my exam, wrong. I do a quick eye chart read, get sent back into the waiting room once again. After some more waiting, I finally get to see the optometrist, whom was fairly pleasant and quick.
Waiting to be checked out was a whole different story. I looked through glasses for about 40 mins, until I finally got called up to be checked out. Their current offer was $69.99* for two pairs and an eye exam, so I was shocked when my total came out to be right under $400. I'm aware that I was going charged extra for anti reflective coating ($55 a pair) and a contact lens exam ($79.99), but the difference in pricing was ridiculous. Not to mention the itemization on the receipt was not clear at all why my bill was so high. I was expecting around $260, not $400. I arrived at roughly 12:10 PM on a Tuesday for a 12:30 PM appointment. I did not finish until after 3 PM. I purchased 2 pairs of glasses from this company August 8th 2016 from the downtown Chicago location after not having bought a new pair of glasses for over a decade. The eye exam went well. Everyone was very nice including the woman that helped me pick my frames. I decided on the EZVue Traditional Poly Transitions Lens Package. Premium Anti Reflection Coating. No tint with polished edges in a Heartland Harper frame. The total came out over $500 for both pair. I pay. Go home and wait for the call that my glasses are ready. It took less than a week. Maybe four days. I get there and the attendant finds my glasses, puts a pair on my face, asks me if I can see, and then that is it. I had my two pairs of new glasses (one black and the other brown) in soft leather cases.
The black pair were my primary as I never touched the brown glasses while they remained new in the case. The problem began when cleaning the glasses. On the first day of ownership I noticed a foggy smudge spot on my right lens that would not go away. Then after days of wearing and cleaning them both lenses on the black pair of glasses progressively got worse with what looked to me like the coating was coming off making it difficult to see through them.
Of course I am dissatisfied and bring the glasses back to the America's Best location where I am told by the same woman that put them on my face at pickup that the damage to the lenses were caused by myself using a shirt or a rag to wipe them instead of a microfiber cloth, and because I don't have a warranty, there was nothing they could do. So I was then given two microfiber cloths when they gave me nothing but the glasses at the actual initial pickup, and was sent home with ugly, foggy, hard to see out of lenses on a pair of glasses barely two weeks old. "OK. Maybe this was my fault, " I thought as I went back home to get my unused second brown pair of glasses prepared to only clean them with the microfiber cloths that were just now given to me.
That is exactly what I did. Nothing but those two cloths and water touched the second pair of glasses, and in a short amount of time the lenses on those were in just as bad of shape as the first pair. That is when I decided that America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses will never get my business again. My pair of glasses that these two replaced that I had been wearing for over ten years didn't have lenses that looked as badly as these.

I made an appt at AMC&E after my WalMart appt had to be canceled and there was not another available appt for a few weeks. I made the appt online for both me my 12 yr old son. After making the appt I read some of these reviews and started to get a little worried. When we arrived for our Saturday afternoon appt I was on my guard waiting for them to start lying to me or adding on products and services that I didn't need or knew nothing about or changing the advertised price. I filled out the standard paperwork for my son and I and then we both received our pre-test screening (i.e. the glaucoma test and a few other things). The lady that did the test offered an additional screening for $14 (don't remember what it was for). I declined and there was no further discussion.
I was seen by the Dr. first and my examine was for glasses and multi-focal contacts. I have worn contacts for decades but never multi-focal. The examine was pretty typical and he explained that he thought with my vision and age I was a great candidate for multi-focal contacts. I picked out some frames and sat with the optician. Now I was really on guard; based on the reviews I read, here is where the slimy sales stuff starts. She asked if I wanted single vision or bi-focal glasses.
I asked what the minimum price of bi-focal would be compared to single vision. She looked it up and told me bi-focal glasses, with the frames I picked out, would be around (I don't remember exactly) $250 and single-vision around $100. I told her I only really wear my glasses at night before bed so to watch TV so I don't think I needed bi-focal. She agreed and even wrote down for me the strength for drugstore readers to get so I could use those at night if I needed to read.
WHAT! WAIT A SECOND! ABC&G just gave me a plan to spend LESS MONEY with them They helped me save money! My son came out of his appt with the Dr. picked out glasses and we had a similar pleasant experience with him - no fast talking, no hidden fees, very up-front and honest. I went back today for a follow up on my multi-focal contacts and order my 1-yr supply and, wait for it, their contacts were cheaper than the ones I priced out online. And, they will ship them to my home for free.
Lastly, I bought into their subscription club for an additional $10 and now I get three years of eye examines for free. My son got two pairs of glasses and his examine was free. I just don't get all the complaints. Makes me wonder if some people just don't read the fine print and start to make assumptions and then are disappointed when there are charges they didn't expect. Went in only to be told "I must have forgotten to add the warranty on your glasses." Silly me just bought a new pair and made sure they was a warranty this time. So here we are less than six months later and needing my frames and lenses replaced under my warranty only to be told they can't replaced them without me having an eye exam and that they can't replace the lenses at all. But don't worry, it's only $290 out of pocket again for them...

Well, I did get blended lenses and a non glare coating. The total was $275.00. No exam, No lenses for only 1 pair. That is $205.00. This is outrageous. Went to store and ask why charged and lenses not changed. Manager called me a liar and said I had the lenses done somewhere else. Drove across parking lot and went into Costco to see if these were my old RX from them. To my amazement, the lenses were never changed. WORST glasses lenses ever! I wore my pair less than a year, taking good care of them, & they were scratched up so badly, so I took advantage of my warranty & got free new pair. It's about 6 months later & using ONLY special fabric cleaners for them & the lenses are totally scratched up again!! NEVER EVER GOING BACK THERE AGAIN!!! And their staff herded us customers (not patients) like we were cattle...going from waiting area to room, back to waiting area, then another room, waiting area again, etc.
After I recently went to an actual credible eye exam I was told that America's Best OVERPRESCRIBED my lenses prescription!! I knew I wasn't seeing as clear as I should've been. Dr said the last place I went (America's "Best") had to have really dropped the ball on my Rx glasses. Also America's Worst said that I had cataracts in BOTH of my eyes when in fact I did NOT! But, the left eye results with the distance glasses was worse with the glasses than without. I called where I had the examination and explained my problem. I was given another appointment the next week and had my left eye reexamined and sent the glasses in again for the corrected lens. I received the second corrected pair, got home and discovered the same problem as the first pair. I decided to try through the AMERICA'S BEST website to try and have a different examiner retest my left eye. NO REPLY!
I emailed them a second time also without a reply. Here is a copy of my two emails I sent: AMERICA"s CHOICE {WEB Contact online} "I had my eyes checked twice {left eye}. I still have a vision problem {left eye} from about 12 feet away. I can see better without my new glasses than with {left eye}. I have a long history with America's "best". I bought the contract for Eyecare Club. I alternate between glasses and contacts. What got me in was I was having trouble seeing the board in a classroom. (I'm middle-aged.) I receive the glasses a couple weeks later (post exam). I can't see, and it's worse. Back I go. Bit of attitude at the desk, but I got another exam. New prescription... and wait. Ok, now I've had to move to the front of class and still things are fuzzy. Back I go... this time attitude included eye roll... I went ballistic. I want a different doc!! Serious argument but I have no problems speaking up in a crowded store. New eye exam by a young pleasant doc... Surprise! One look and he immediately said... "Oh, well, I understand why your vision is blurry... you have bilateral capsular cataracts." Ok... now I'm stunned... cataracts in your 30s???
I won't say what I was thinking when I left there. Went to an ophthalmologist and it was true... so why didn't the first clown see this in TWO exams??? Still... it's a cheap way to get a prescription and some spare glasses. It will cost you that for a prescription. Do NOT let them con you on that. It is illegal not to give you the script when asked. CHECK IT against your records!! The first one had a major error (which I feel was intentional). They'll also leave off the pupil to pupil. I had to ask. Seriously... why give bad service? People who like you are more likely to go along with something. The key to making this work is JUST SAY NO. If you can't go in there and when pushed say, "I WANT THE 59 DEAL... I DO NOT WANT ANYTHING ELSE." And say it in a demanding manner, go elsewhere or you will get seriously screwed.
Now, once you're dealt with them... go to zenni.com and get your glasses with all the coatings, bifocal, etc at a fraction of the cost... and they were back and on my face a week before ABO had my glasses back. Know your prescription and be able to say no in a final and hostile manner if needed. I've been to several different places and they vary immensely. Richmond was great. Middle River/MD - also great. Atl/Decatur long waits and hard time getting a correct script when I wouldn't take the screw job, Kenner/LA - the idiot that couldn't see the cataracts.

Based on the TV commercials I drove an hour to Asheville North Carolina to get 2 pairs of glasses for $69 including the eye exam as advertised. The eye doctor was terrific. I felt like I got a thorough exam and felt confident as I went to look for frames. I found their selection to be extremely limited and quite boring to be honest. But I finally found a sa couple of frames that I liked. I paid extra for a one frame. The person who fits you for the glasses tabulated the cost and I nearly fell off the chair when she told me the final cost was $534. What happened to the 2 pairs for $69?
Oh but they neglect to tell you in the ad if you have progressives or any other specifics it's significantly more money. I don't have a problem with paying for ads but I do have a problem with being lied to and lured there under false pretenses. Then I order the glasses and I ask when I can pick them up. Now I've worn glasses all my life. The smallest eyeglass centers have your glasses back in A-day or so. I practically fell off the chair for the 2nd time when she told me it would take 2 weeks. What a rip off! I would never go back.

Although I would love to give this location less than 1 star, I did have a good experience with the first two ladies that I was able to speak with and get advice on glasses. My issue was with the old blonde/white haired woman, Diane. When my boyfriend and I were looking at frames to choose from, I had asked her opinion about which pair looked better on me, from the two I had selected. Diane was rude and making comments to me about how I needed a different pair that looked better on my face. As this was her opinion and I fully understand that, she continuously made remarks to me about how my prescription would limit my available choices for frames and that the ones I had picked out were ugly. YES! She actually told me that the ones I liked, were ugly.
As this was just her opinion, I let it go. A few moments later, she pulled my boyfriend aside, and told him that I was making a huge mistake and I would regret it, and once again, that the frames I chosen would look terrible. Immediately after this, she walked around the store to the other employee ladies and I overheard her telling them that "she is going to look terrible with any of those glasses, what a mistake she is making". With rage building up inside, I just informed her that I wanted to get an estimated price on what I would be paying out of pocket for both the frames and lenses, she began telling me that my insurance would pay up to $120 for the frames and that we could see about the rest later.
During this time, she kept pushing me to get "Designer Frames" which I had said several times I was not interested in, I informed her that I enjoyed the frames I had chosen and wanted to see a price on the lenses because I knew what my insurance covered for the frames. Her reply... "well if you think you know what your insurance covers then go ahead and tell me."
As you can imagine, I was so furious with this lady. Her opinions I can understand and accept, but going around the store telling people I would look terrible in the glasses, and then getting rude with me thinking that I didn't know what my own insurance covered. I immediately told her she was being rude, and I left the store, and unfortunately because of her rudeness, I cried a little in my car, because come on, she was telling people I would look ugly. How rude!
I went to a different location a little further from my home, and the employees were so nice! They sat me down and explained to me how much the lenses would cost out of pocket and all of the great deals that they could offer me. I set up an appointment with them and immediately called and canceled the one from University Hills. Even at the other location, I had spoke to them about Diane being rude and they told me that she had several complaints made about her being rude to customers and that they stopped having her come to their store because of her attitude. What a terrible person this woman was, I have never met someone so rude.

The Dr. in PA does my exam and like before I need only regular nonprogressive lenses, no reading need just the 1 prescription.
When I check out I am told the charges and asked about anti-glare, a catch resistant etc. Not once was I asked about the extras except for me saying I wanted transitions was asked. I was charged for all upgrades without being asked. I am not an eyeglass salesmen and have no clue what bill has on it that is necessary or not. Find out most item not needed, only if wanted. I received my contacts which were $170 for 6 months - they were falling apart in my eyes - when I talked with the eye doctor on duty, he explained that happens a lot with older people!! He dropped the ball and I called back a week later, he apologized and said he would order new contacts at no charge and have them mailed to my home. I had pretty good result but still pieces of the contacts would stay in my eye (almost as if the chemicals in my eye were having an effect on the contacts) - but I just kept trying.
When reordering I explained that I was still not satisfied with the product (new location this time), so the doctor was professional and gave a trial pair (they seemed to work okay for one week) so we reordered - this brand was only $140 for 6 months (why wasn't I offered these to begin with? I was told they are so expensive because they are bifocal originally). Anyway, I received the new and they seemed okay but very sticky and dry, same issue (the outer surface rips away from the rest - one day of wearing and in the trash)!!

I have been going to America's Best for eye exams, glasses, and contact lenses since I was 10 years old and I am now 35! I have literally never been anywhere else. I have always gone to the location in Marietta GA as a kid and growing up and never had any problems with them. Recently I began going to the Dekalb Co. GA location off Scott. Blvd. NEVER AGAIN AS LONG AS I LIVE WILL I EVER GO TO ANOTHER AMERICA'S BEST!!!
First of all, it's now their common practice to have people wait for up to an hour for their eye exam! Like why even take an appointment at all?!?! Second of all, when I finally get called for my eye exam, the most unprofessional lady sighed and huffed and puffed that I was there, I guess because she was tired and didn't feel like working?! I am spending my money here, and being treated like I am a hassle for some reason?!
I asked if someone else could do my exam instantly. She was infuriated and enraged and told me I could leave her "office" until she found someone else. I told her she could get up and go get her manager, I just waited for an hour for this, I am not going anywhere! The manager comes in and takes the employee to a back room where I can hear her yelling and screaming. The manager returns, has the eye Dr. do my full exam, and gives me a whopping 10 percent discount (LOL).
5 months later I am getting flashes in both of my eyes I return to America's Best (because I had the 5 year plan, therefore it was free). They gave me an exam and dilated my eyes and told me that whoever prescribed my last prescription over prescribed me by a full point in each eye!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! I keep wondering why the staff is so **, and I see now its because the manager is no better!!! I will always tell people how awful America's Best is! I will never step foot in another one. These people compromised my vision and literally treated me like I was the worst person ever from the moment I stepped foot in the door. I think they are racist toward ** people, it's pretty clear!!!

HONESTLY... I DID NOT WANT TO GO HERE, but now that I am a BABY BOOMER ON MEDICARE... MY POCKETBOOK HAD TO RULE! I called at 3:30 and was told that I could get same day service! From start to finish, I received top-notch, friendly and helpful service! The front desk staff was welcoming, friendly and expeditious! The choices of frames was much better than I was expecting! I found over six styles that were fashionable and reasonably current. I knew going in that the two for $69 would not apply to me, since I use the progressive lenses with anti-glare, but the fabulous Patrick (he was THE BEST!!!) patiently, and completely rallied on my behalf to make sure that I definitely got the most bang for my buck -- and he did it with panache, experience, diligence and gusto! He was the BEST eyeglass consultant ever!! And no attitude about my need to get the BEST DEAL!
The in-take technician was also AMAZING AND SO FRIENDLY AND APPROACHABLE; he explained every test, answered every question FULLY. I am so sorry that I do not recall his name, but he was there on the late shift of 9/20/18 at the Central Avenue store in Colonie, NY. The optometrist was also SUPERIOR! She was a young professional with great knowledge, sensitivity and honesty; willing to find the very best options for me regarding future cataract surgery, my prescription, and my current needs as a reluctant "older" patient. ;) Finally, the eyeglass fitting service person was fastidious and precise, friendly and reassuring! I am honestly super happy that I chose to go to America's BEST -- after many years of snobbery! All I did was spend too much money! No... they will not have the latest frames, but they will have many fashionable choices!
And if I want the latest Oprah-donned fabulous high styling in frames, I can use my new prescription to order them at a later date when I have a little extra cash. I got a pair of the highest end progressive lenses with anti-glare coating in a DKNY designer frame, as well as a funky, clunky, black over-sized Ray-Ban looking frame for reading only, with the basic lenses offered in their "two-for" advertising for a total of $327 (which included an additional, selective exam fee of an extra $15). This cost was after the application of the $125 Medicare coverage from my Humana plan. I last spent over $600 for two pairs of glasses!
I have NEVER written a review, but I HAD to write this one! If your pocketbook will only allow their bottom end offerings, they will do their utmost to help you find the very best you can get! I did NOT experience any pressure! So... it is BEST not to judge a book by its cover! They made it clear to me that I did not have to get glasses there just because I took advantage of the free exam through my Medicare! If only every business was as down-to-earth, friendly, and helpful!

Upon my first visit, I was given the wrong prescription, for my glasses. I was called and told they were ready for p/u, so I go in, and the normal routine of trying them on, I could not see clearly, and told them, it was blurry, and that I could see better with my old glasses. This was ignored, and I was told, "Wear them a couple weeks, you need to adjust, this is a new prescription," I had to return. One of the staff told me, "The other doctor is better, we can have him check you, possibly correct the problem."
I should mention, before I finalize my experience, is the person that does the routine work-up before you see the Dr., I told this person several time, that I could not read the chart from my left eye, because of a cataract, but she continue to ask me to read the chart. This really upset me, she has no professional are knowledge of doing a pre-check, because if she did, this would not have occurred, and "oh yes" she had a smile on her face, in regards to my humility. I was offered a refund, but the manager kept telling me, it would take a long time for my insurance to credit my account, before I could see another Dr., and that I could see their other doctor on staff, and that he was better. I reluctantly agreed to do so. I have not received my glasses, it has been about 10 days. I will not return to America's Best ever again. Hopefully, I see clearly with these glasses.

The exam was $49, but when I sat down I was told it was for prescription only and not the additional glaucoma, night vision and other tests normally done during an exam, it would be $20 extra. They were not done by the Dr; I wish I had walked out at that point but I agreed and stayed. The eye DR went through my exam very quickly and I was a bit concerned. Then when I went out to pick up frames, everyone was really busy but I was OK, I tried on many pairs and had about half dozen when I finally had someone to help me.
She then told me they were all male glasses and that's why they were so large, (she had been watching me try on glasses for past half hour) but she couldn't find anything similar in women's glasses, except two pair that I wasn't too crazy about, she didn't seem too interested in looking any further; so I asked her an estimate with my strong prescription, I believe it was over $350! Then I decided I didn't want to do business there and would go somewhere else even though I’d now have to pay the $65 for the quick exam. So I went to another eyeglass store and the women was super helpful, let me try on dozens of glasses and stayed with me to help eliminate a pair a time. The price was around $300 with discounts added and took about 10 days to get.
Now I have a real problem, the prescription is awful my perception is off, I get dizzy I can’t read at a computer, I hadn't been working and was using my iPhone and iPad and now that I'm back on a desktop computer, I'm having a hard time! I kept thinking I would get used to the glasses, I took them back to where I got the lenses and they confirmed they matched the prescription. I don't know if America's Best will make good on the bad prescription and pay for the replacement.

Our family has purchased glasses from America's Best In past years. We have been satisfied. In May my grandson (age 25) went to America's Best for an eye exam and purchased two pairs of glasses, one being a pair of sunglasses. He had a difficult time finding a frame for his regular eyeglasses. The selection for men's glasses was very poor. He finally located a pair, but stated to the worker that they felt like they were too small. They assured him they were not. He returned for adjustments four times. The temples were too short and were causing sores behind his ears. They continued to adjust them, telling him they were fine!!! They continued to be very painful.
On one of his visits one employee stated they might have to find another frame for him. When he returned and mentioned that he needed another frame, his glasses were again adjusted and told that his glasses were being adjusted by the best person possible!!! This adjustment changed nothing for him, they continued to be painful. I was with my grandson during this last visit. I mentioned that I thought the temples were too short. I was quickly told that I did not know what I was talking about. My grandson had to order new glasses from another optical shop. We were told by this optical shop that not only were the temples too short, the frame was too small for him. The money spent at America's Best is lost. We got nothing for our money. We will never return to America's Best.

Add my name to the list of dissatisfied customers. I don't like the all too familiar sick feeling of knowing a company isn't going to do anything to fix it and make it right and I'm out the $80 and have to start all over again! My situation may be slightly different but it doesn't matter because you'll see that their poor treatment is the same for me as it is for all the others on here giving it one star or zero if we could! My appointment was last Friday. I was impressed by how nice the place looked and how hi-tech it was. The girl at the front desk was nice and helpful. Gave me the form to fill out and I sat down and did. A lot of questions, so it took me a bit to finish it. I wasn't quite done, she came back and said, "That's ok if you don't finish." She wasn't rude about it, but I didn't want to give it unfinished like that. What's the rush?
I sat there and waited another few minutes before a young guy came to get me for my tests. He was mostly pleasant but he was telling me what date it was when I already knew and there was a bit of a life lecture on how a day can be good or bad which I didn't need coming from someone 3 decades younger than I. He also said he needed the black spoon used to cover one eye back which I told him I have plenty spoons at home and wasn't gonna take theirs. He said, "Well a lot do," and I said, "Don't group me with them." I don't like the common view that if one is a thief everyone else must be too. That's not how I was raised. All this was minor compared to what was to come.
Dr. called me in for the other eye tests. Most went fine but at one point he said, "No. Raise your chin not your whole head." I didn't like that. He told me I'd be a better fit for glasses than contacts and kept asking why I didn't want glasses. I said because I came there for contacts and I never have liked wearing glasses as I pull them off my face a lot. There's an old saying: Just because one person jumps off a bridge, does that mean we all have to? Plus, I didn't want to look like their mascot owl. He showed me a test and had me read it and said, "That's 20-20 or 20-40," and I said, "It looks clear to me." He said, "No, you don't understand." I didn't like that. Don't treat me like I'm stupid, I know more than you think; how condescending. He said he could fit me with contacts but my prescription is so minimum that I don't really need them at -.75 in one eye and -.25 in the other.
Somehow my vision improved over 15 years as both those numbers were -1.50 for both eyes. I asked for UltraFlex thins. He said they don't make them anymore. Then why does 1-800 Contacts still show they do? UltraFlex thins are the only contacts I can wear that fit me right and don't bother my eyes like I don't even feel like I'm wearing anything, as it should feel. Since I hadn't worn contacts in years I had a little trouble getting the right eye lens in. He picked up all my stuff and said, "Let's move you out to the waiting area where you can finish putting them in. I have other patients." The solution was dripping all over my papers and the floor. And my lens was still on my finger. Another 10 seconds and I would have had it in but he couldn't wait! Again what's the ** rush?!
I do not like the way this store treats people! It's as rude, if not ruder, than any of the other reviews on here saying the same thing! It's right on par with what the rest of you are saying. The left eye lens doesn't fit me right and when I took out the right eye lens it scratched my eye. Of course I haven't worn them since. They called me to confirm my follow up appointment for Friday - tomorrow and I said, "Yes I'll be there." But then I got an email saying my appointment was cancelled! By who? I did not cancel! I need the contacts to fit right so I can pass renewal of my driver's license. I don't even have my prescription yet which I'm entitled to by law. I called them back and left a voicemail saying I didn't cancel and need my Rx. But they've yet to return my call!
I don't like the way America's Worst does business! This isn't how you treat people! It takes me awhile to save up $80 but they take it in every 15 minutes! Now I'm divided over going back so they can make it right--doubt it, or the sickening feeling I should just forget it and take the loss of $80 which is a lot to unemployed me, and just take my business elsewhere like to Target as others have said-btw thanks for that. I knew Walmart did vision but Target never crossed my mind. I think I'll check it out if they have a store here that does it. As for America's Worst, I think the doctor decided I cost him too much money waiting another 10 seconds and cancelled my appointment. Greedy sobs. I need that money more than they do.

I've been going to America's Best for over a year now (two eye exams and buying new frames in that time) and I love this place! Easy to get an appointment. Eye exams go smoothly. LOVE their large selection of frames. Was told I'll have my newest pair of glasses within 10 days. I don't have a problem with that. In fact, last year they told me the same thing and I ended up getting them in a week. I have vision insurance and with the exam and progressive lenses and new frames, it cost me around $60 total. I highly recommend AB!

I went into this knowing that the low prices were just a bait and switch to get customers in the door. I expected to still spend less than if I went to LensCrafters, but it really wasn't much cheaper if at all. I have really good insurance, the deal was that if I were to buy two pairs I would get a free eye exam, well apparently if you use insurance and buy two pairs it doesn't count because they charged for the eye exam. Well I still got 20% off the first pair and 50% off the second pair. GREAT, or so I thought. Because when I did the price comparison of insurance vs no insurance, it was around a $5 difference on a bill around $380. I am guessing most customers don't do price checks and think they are getting a better deal than they really are... I also want to point out while I'm making a list, the eye exam was about half an hour later than scheduled, which was a good first impression.
This pricing issue isn't even close to as bad as the rest of my experience from this company. When I bought my pair of glasses I was told that they would be ready in 7-10 business days and sometimes if you order them early enough on a Monday they could be ready on Saturday. Here’s the thing, I told them that when the glasses arrive that they will need to send them to another America's Best eye store, easy enough I thought, it was only two hours away and they agreed. Well 2.5 weeks go by and they finally arrive at the first store (already longer than the longest time) they then tell me they will ship them to the other store and they should be there shortly. Another 2 weeks go by and they just informed me yesterday that they messed up and that NOW they are shipping the glasses to the store. AMAZING.
So a transaction for a simple pair of glasses that was a bait and switch that should have taken about a week has now taken OVER A MONTH. Now, here is where I give this ** show a 1 star. I have talked to countless Customer Service reps and I have never talked to so many rude people in a row. Literally every time I call in it’s the same thing, they are condescending, rude, and absolutely not helpful. I called in to make sure my price was right with insurance because it made no sense of why it was the same price, so instead of just giving me the answer I get lectured on how insurance works, thanks! Again super condescending and I swear to God there wasn't a single person who didn't laugh...
I then called again and asked about what was taking so long, they laugh at me and say "We will call you when it's ready, I don't think we missed a box with your name on it" in a super condescending tone like I'm the dumb one for calling in and asking them where my month old pair of glasses are, my bad. Look, I am normally super supportive of companies making mistakes, it happens and I don't get upset when they do, but from start to finish this company has been completely awful, they didn't do anything correctly, not a single thing! Please avoid this place, I only went because I was recommended by a close family member, but I will not ever go again and I hope that the hundreds of bad reviews for this company will stop you from making the same mistake.

Who has time to write a review because a company doesn't do the right thing? I don't, but here I am hoping to at least help someone out and avoid this provider AT ALL COSTS. My 16 year old son was visiting his dad over Christmas vacation. My ex-husband was taking one of his stepchildren for an eye exam and decided to get one for our son too. My son has worn the same Acuvue contact lenses for 4 years and the strength of his prescription has changed very little in those 4 years. My son came back home and I was not told he was supposed to get a follow up visit. My son used the throw away contacts and then went on to using his regular contacts. He is out of contacts now and I attempted to get his prescription. Here is my experience:
The store 4 hours away reprimands me because they make an assumption and think he has been wearing the same disposable contacts for 6 months! They then tell me I will probably have to pay for a new exam because it has been 6 months and "EYE PRESCRIPTIONS CHANGE DRASTICALLY IN THAT PERIOD OF TIME." I am disgusted with this response. I call a store close to our residence and am told they can't help me. It has been "too long" and he needs a new prescription. Of course, I have been put on hold several times before I am given this response.
I call customer care and WHAT A JOKE. I first talk to Terry, who interrupts me to ask why I think my ex-husband would withhold information from me. What??? How is that even relevant? I then tell her I am an attorney so I have read the law pertaining to contact lens prescriptions. She then tells me she is going to terminate the call because she can't talk to me in an "attorney capacity." Again, what??? I tell her she can't refuse to talk to a parent. I am angry at this point and say this is BS one time and she then says she is going to terminate the call because of "incessant cursing." Again, what? She is looking for any way to terminate the call.
I then ask for a supervisor and get "Barbara" who also tries to hang up on me because I am an attorney. Barbara makes me spell my last name multiple times and tells me I am not going to get anywhere being angry. Just saying that I did not call angry, but became extremely angry with all the interruptions and irrelevant questions. I am now waiting for a phone call from James ** who is supposed to be a district manager but probably won't call me. I was not given a number to try to reach him because they do not allow "cold calling." Is this place really a business still??
And just so everyone can be informed, there is a law called the FCLCA which outlines what a provider can and can't do with respect to a contact lens exam. You do NOT have to be an attorney to read this law, just Google it. I believe every single person should be informed as to what their rights are. Being an attorney is no special license to knowledge. I am sure they wanted to hang up on me because they don't want anyone to know they are violating Federal law. Just be aware they will want to hang up on you when you say you have read the law. Contact lens prescriptions are good for a MINIMUM of one year FROM THE DATE they are written. I am sure that is why they want to try to get more money from me. In addition, if you have worn the same contacts, a FITTING follow-up appointment is not necessary and is viewed as a means to withhold your prescription.
I am now going to take my son to Target, where he has gone for the past 3 years and who have always been super nice and helpful. Their contact lens exam is the exact same cost as America's Best. PLEASE, PLEASE do not give this terrible company your business. I honestly do not understand how they can still be in business. I am also contacting the Missouri Attorney General to file a complaint.

Well I went in to buy glasses for my son and I. I was expecting to spend about 200 to 300 dollars. If the sale was for 69.99 for 2 pairs of glasses. I thought the price would be a little higher. HOWEVER! I paid 644 dollars. CAUTION: They send you straight to the eye exam then you see the glasses, then they give you the prices. If you see the glasses, they are 69.99, but it's the regular plastic glass. So I paid 75 for nonreflective. Additional 135 for polycarbon. So at the end they told me it will take at least 2 weeks to get here???? I will never shop here again. CAUTION expect to pay a lot for your 2 pair of glasses that are advertised for 69.99 for 2 pairs.

Update: 17 July I have to return to Bellevue Eyecare because May ** had me meet her at Olive Garden in Clarksville Tennessee to look through my damaged lenses and mark them because she thought my transition was too low? When I picked up my order up my three frames with two lenses two months into the order and wore them for the first time holding my head normally everything is blurry, having to tilt my head down to see anything is so ridiculous. I almost feel like she did this on purpose, so fuming mad that this horrible experience is continuing and she has ZERO consequences. With May ** not forcing customers hands when lenses come in defective to call their insurance company and beg for a second pair for free. With May ** not telling customers she only makes money when customers don’t use their insurance company to pay for their lenses and then pressure sells you to buy more at your expense.
I started dealing with May ** through Chart Optical 8 May 2018 and ended up with her through Bellevue Eyecare Center. I wanted to purchase Gilda Lafont frames and Lafont gave me Chart Optical as one of three that could order these frames for me as they are being discontinued. I ordered two at first. The black and gold and the red, when those two came in I ordered the ones I'd already had again the pink and black (seemingly weren't available when I initially ordered). Two of the three frames were damaged and had to be reordered, the pink and black came in missing a nose pad according to May which she said is "no big deal".
Then my lenses were ordered and came in also damaged, this is when my hand was forced, MANY texts from May. She told me I needed to order two other lenses by the 16th of June (deadline), this must be where she was going to make her money. Later when we (my husband and I) spoke to Dr. **, he said I wasn't even supposed to pay for the frames until they came in and it was up to me whether I ordered more lenses or not which I knew but she was "hard selling" and had an intimidating manner about her. She wanted to meet me near my home to look through the lenses to see if they were correct? Then wanted to put my old prescription in the red frames sitting at the table in Olive Garden? I found her tactics very odd, my appointment at Bellevue for the eye exam and to see the frames went on five hours, how ridiculous. She was up and down and helping others as well as me?
It's now 3 July 2018 and I was just told today everything is in and ready for me to pick up, three frames and two with lenses and Dr. ** took my prescription from December from another optician and made them current I suppose for all the trouble but really that comes out of Dr. ** pocket not ** so not sure why he made it seem as if they took care of it? Now the optician I had is short with me because of all this and I will have to find another. This was a nightmare and I'm not done because I still have to pick everything up and pray it's all correct and in top condition. I never have had this sort of trouble with trying to SIMPLY buy frames and lenses. NO APOLOGY FROM MAY ** EITHER!

The asst. manager was very polite and stating the frame could be returned to correct the problem. However, I noticed the frames did not look like the ones I had chosen. When the glasses returned, I mentioned they did not look like the frame I had chosen. A salesperson directed me to the frames, which were in a different area of the store and in a section with cheaper frames. The ones I had chosen were in the designer area. I suggest that everyone TAKE A PICTURE and verify any SKU or style nos. on the frames you have chosen to purchase and compare the information before completing the sale and leave the store. The frames they said I had chosen had a different purchase amount on them and looked cheesy, however, I was so frustrated, I did not continue the discussion.

I chose 2 frames from the $69.95 section but because they were from the green section instead of the yellow section, the frames turned out to be $104.95 AND I thought the lens were covered but I was charged per lens, not per frame so that is a $45 charge per lens which is $180 but you do get a small discount. None of this is in small print about the $69.95 special nor is it explained that you have to pay $45 per lens since I had to choose a 22% Verilite lens with protective cover instead of coke bottle lens because the wireframes are not conducive to regular plastic lens. They charge for everything and it is basically a bait and switch program. I should not have to pay any more than $100 for both pair and Verilite lens.

I have better things to do than to write reviews but this is too much. I have never had glasses and I know I needed them since my eyesight has been getting poorer with each passing year. I am a newbie to glasses so I fell for this one. As advertised for 69 dollars a free eye exam and two pair of glasses. In my naive thought pattern 2 pair of glasses means 2 frames with the lenses intact. Why is it not advertised as free eye exam and two glasses frames for $69.00 plus the cost of the lenses. And if you want frames that are better than the 3d glasses frames you get at the movies then be prepared to pay for it.
Also, the doctor was so rude. He acted like I was denying I needed glasses. He said people come in and say they don't need glasses but he proves to them in his high and mighty position that they do, and proceeds to tell me how wrong I am in my denial. I came because I needed glasses, and apparently critically, because I didn't see the other person in the room he must have been talking too. This is bait and switch advertisement. I don't blame the rude people at this location but be prepared to pay the additional cost if you fall for this one, both for enduring the insult to your intelligence and your pocket book. I was out the door for just under $200.00.

I ordered my glasses & could not find a nice pair of frames, they had so many that were almost the same. The name brand section did not even have a nice selection. Anyway I settled for the only 1 pair in the store I thought were nice & seems like they should be for almost $350.00. I waited almost 2 weeks & then returned to pick them up. It was a hot sunny day so when I picked them up I didn't realize how dark they had made the tint. By the time it started getting darker, I started realizing this tint were TOO dark.
The next day I went to work & it was not a good experience to work a day on the computer with these glasses that were almost shades for outside, so I returned to the store the next day & returned them asking for the tint to be lightened. They said they would & I would have them back in 3-4 days. After they confirmed they messed the lenses up while fixing the tint, a week & 1/2 later I returned to get my glasses. Took them home & wore them for about 3-4 days, the next day went to put them on & the arm broke off. I was not happy to say the least. So I had to choose another pair hoping they would not be as cheaply made as these ones I chose first, so almost 2 more weeks without them I came back to pickup the new glasses. I picked them up & took them home.
After about 2-days I realized the arms on these things were super long, they were literally hanging out, sticking out of my hair! I thought, "WTH is wrong with these frames?" I compared them to the last 2 pair of glasses I bought (not from here) And the arms were so much shorter. I never saw such long arms. I again returned to the store to see what can be done. They took them & bent the arms down to be tucked behind the ears & said, "Try them for a week & let me know." I left & never made it out of the parking lot. They were still super long of course & awkward. They were now rubbing my head when I looked left or right while driving. I brought them right back in & they said to pick another pair but this was the last time they could change them for me. Well what a slap in the face, almost $350 I paid & have not been satisfied as of yet & the issues were on their end, not mine. I was so upset!
I ended up settling for another pair I did not like because the arms were shorter. So I went ahead & processed my ugly glasses & waited about a week this time, then picked them up. So after wearing these for a week, I am experiencing pain on my left ear. The right was fine. However I hate this store so much I don't even want to go back & deal with the BS again, so I have now reverted back to my old glasses which the prescriptions is not strong enough & I can't see well. So I am out all that money & don't have a good pair of glasses to show for it. SMH. The worst glasses experience I have ever had. I will not return to purchase anything from there again.

It's a lie to get you in their store! What I mean is the discount is a ploy to hook you into coming in and then the COSTS keep going up! My mother went in and they told her because of her astigmatism she don't qualify for this deal! She was charged for the exam and it was not free! She only got one pair of glasses! Her final price for all was $275.00. I myself needed glasses so I tried to get the deal! Same thing! I didn't qualify because of an astigmatism! Was charged for the exam because I didn't qualify because of the astigmatism. Only got one pair and it cost 159.99 for the frames. The lenses cost $99.00 and when all was said and done my final charge was $327.00.
Four weeks later when they arrived it was very blurry and had to redo the exam! 4 weeks later again it was incorrect again so another exam and this time I had to tell the guy what I expected to see correctly and with luck this time it was right but it took 3 months for it to finally get done correctly! I have asked many people about America's Worst and all never qualified for this fake ** deal! If it sounds too good to be true it usually is! When I hear the name America's Best, I now say you mean America's Worst! This was 2 and 1/2 years ago so I do not have the paperwork anymore!

Fayetteville, NC... I too should have read some of the reviews before walking into an America's Best Store. I initially found this company online because I was looking for new glasses at a less expensive price without insurance. I found on the website that I could get 2 pairs of progressive bifocals for a total of $188.45. I was unsure of ordering online without trying the frames on first, so my boyfriend and I decided to go to our nearest America's Best which is located in Fayetteville, NC. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by what I later found out was the Manager, Crystal. I explained what I was looking for and gave her my prescription, she told me to find the frames I wanted while she entered my prescription. (At this point I had not told her that I had already gotten a price online.)
Once I found the frames I wanted (Same ones I'd found online), I sat down with her, she entered all of my info in the computer and told me that my total would be $287, to which I responded, "How is that, I can get the same exact thing online for $188.45." She wanted to know if I could show that to her, at which time I pulled the email up on my phone and showed her (I had the exact same thing in my cart online as she had entered in the system for me). She then asked if I had a coupon, I say no. She asked if I could print that for her, she sets me up on a computer at another station so that I could print my cart from the online store SHE works for! We then ask why there were two sets of prices: one online/one in store in which she responded with she didn't know.
In the end I paid the online price for the glasses (Online and in store prices are SUPPOSED to be the same). HERE'S THE KICKER: Once I got home I sat down and figured out the price difference and it is as follows: Frames In Store: $59.95 PER PAIR. Frames Online: $34.97 PER PAIR. Lens In Store: $79.00 PER PAIR. Lens Online: $79 First Pair, $39.50 Second Pair. So, all in all, I was not getting the "2 pair for $60" like she told me I was in the store, but I did online!! You can get a better deal when you order online!!!

She worked tirelessly for 4 weeks until I was completely satisfied. I love this place and will continue to endorse America's Best to my family, friends and co-workers.

I wish I would have read the reviews on America’s Best before I made the mistake of going there. They have tons of extra charges for their “free” exam and when I finally got in to get checked the “doctor” checked my eyes for maybe 2 minutes tops. Prescription is completely wrong but yet they won’t let me redo the exam. They say they’re fine and I’ll get use to the contacts and glasses I made the HUGE mistake of buying. The only thing they’ve done is give me bad headaches and make my eyes hurt. Unfortunately I can’t afford to go to a real eye doctor at this time and I wasted $400 on these people. I even paid extra to get free exams over the next year but they say the doctor was right and I’m wrong. Because apparently I don’t know my own eyes. Don’t waste your time and money. This place is a complete joke. I didn’t even mention the fact that my glasses (that were supposed to be there in 7 to 10 days) took almost a month to get in.

I have never broke a pair glasses in my life cleaning a lens, and I know how to handle glasses. I will never buy glasses or any of their products again.

Every time I go to this place it's a hassle to get my prescription. First... I'm a single parent of a special needs child. My time is not easy to make vision exams or any other doctor appointments. But then to have to go back a 2nd or even a 3rd time, it's just plain annoying. Then, they never have “Trial” contacts in stock. If you know that all your patients will need trials to see first if the prescription is correct, then why not have “Trials” in stock. I can’t get the prescription after I already did the exam. I have to wait to be seen by the doctor again with the trial contacts. Really? Why? I've been wearing contacts for over 30 years. I should not have to wait for another appointment. They should see me for a second, “How do they feel” and that’s it… I should not have to wait. I already did the appointment and waited… Now they want me to keep waiting or make another appointment.
I will not be able to notice on a pickup of new trial contacts right off if they are correct. I have to drive, work, etc. with them on to see the prescription works for me. I want my prescription… upon an exam. This back and forth is ridiculous. It’s the only place where I have received an eye exam that does this. By the time you get your prescription or etc., a month has passed from the back and forth.

Moline IL America's Best - I wish I'd read these reviews before I bought two pairs of glasses. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but the glasses themselves are poor quality. The nose pieces -- those cheap little plastic discs that hold your glasses snug -- are sharp. They can't even use ones with rounded edges? You can get those for free at just about any optometrist's office. I've had my glasses for three weeks and already a screw has come loose and I'll have to take them in to be tightened. It will probably happen again and again. As far as the price goes, I knew that $69.95 price for two pairs would not pan out. By the time progressive lenses, anti-glare coating and other stuff was added, I paid almost $400.

I took glasses in, complained, receptionist acted like they were scratched. No... They are foggy. She tried to act like they were improperly cleaned. I stated they were cleaned with lens cleaner, and lens cloth washed in free and clear laundry. Stumped her. Because of membership stupid me, purchased 2nd pair. Same thing... One big fog. I had my appointment on July of 2017 and I didn't receive until END OF OCTOBER! The staff at the Forestville Md location are terrible, the doctors give you a cookie cutter exam and get angry when you call them on THEIR mistakes. Long story short I was told I needed bifocals without being examined proper. After sitting with the tech Kenzo and discussing what I wanted and picking frames and tint I went to get them (first time) and they had sunshades tint and single lens, they took them back and I requested another exam be done because I still couldn't see. The next dr did the exact same thing (made me read eye chart) but did another step to measure me for bifocals, when I told her the first dr didn't do that she asked me how did she know I needed them. I sat AGAIN and put in the order.
Three weeks passed and I called and ask if they were done, they said they were but when I got there they weren't, they came the following week and I STILL COULDN'T SEE out of them, so they adjust them and found out the numbers weren't right SO THEY HAD TO GO BACK AGAIN... I come for the last time I thought and they had the WRONG GLASSES. By now I'm LIVID but told to come back the following week. I did and this time they were there. I still couldn't see clear and I was then told to wear them for a while. I did, I then in December wrote a letter to corporate. They never responded, so then in February I called and they had the location call back. Talking with them resolved nothing.
They finally called and said they will refund my money. Just bring the glasses back. I asked them how will I see! I told them ALL I WANTED was for them to cover the cost of another eye exam at ANOTHER location and to that I was told. "YOU'RE FREE TO GO WHERE YOU LIKE BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY!" They made the multiple mistakes. NOT ME. now I did make them eat the rest of the cost because of their mistakes.
America's best is the eyewear is the ADVENTURE DENTAL OF EYEWEAR. There is so much more I could say but it would take all day. I will be paying to see A REAL optometrist and once I receive glasses I can use I will definitely give them these back... The only thing is I actually love the designer frames I purchased. Just know if you ever go to that location be prepared to WAIT AND WATCH THEM TALK LAUGH AND EAT AT THE FRONT DESK in front of waiting and frustrated customers... The worst. If I could give a negative 0 I would!

I went to America's Best on Marketplace in Grand Ledge, MI. in September 2017 for new glasses. Three very nice employees helped me pick out my frames, without any request from me for help. I told them I had only worn titanium frames in the past, but was open to other styles. They thought I should consider plastic frames and picked out 4 or 5 for me to consider. I chose one of their suggestions. I was happy with the look and style. After I received my glasses and was fitted with them. I noticed they wouldn't stay in place. I went back to the store a total of 6 times in the next month to have them heated and adjusted. I told them several times how unhappy I was and questioned why I was having so much țrouble. I asked if I had made a poor choice and should I reconsider. They kept reassuring me that I just needed more adjustment.
I finally gave up going back and just tried using rubber bands, tape, and putty for 5 months. Today I went back for another adjustment, the nice young lady told me plastic frames have a history of loosening up from the heat of your face. No one mentioned pros or cons when "helping me" pick frames. Nor did anyone mention this during all the adjustments. I noticed their sign that said they would do what it takes to make it right. I asked about this and the manager stated it was only for 30 days and they wouldn't do anything at this point. No one made any effort to inform me at any of these adjustments that I could get different frames if these weren't working. I will not be a customer of theirs again. Lesson learned. I am now an informed consumer and will go elsewhere for my glasses.

Before you know it your $400 into a single pair of glasses. Not much of a savings if you ask me. There is no adjustment of the glasses when you pick them up either just a remark to try them for 72 hours and you have 30 days to return them. I will never use them again or recommend them to anyone!

I will detail this by each visit. Visit 1: This was at the McDonough location in Ga, it was great, everyone was very professional, hell I even went for the up-sale of HD lenses. Everyone from the receptionist to the doctor were great. But this was at this location. Visit 2: Now I live closer to Macon location but at the time they were booked so that's why I went to the McDonough location. 50 miles away. But it was time for another exam and the Macon location has a spot open. It took the reception almost 20 minutes to even find that I has made an appointment and made the argument that I didn't make one, but after finally finding it, there was no apology from her for her mistake. The DR was pretty much just doing his job. When I went out for a fitting, the woman has no idea what she was doing, she then called another person to help her.
After an hour and picking out 2 frames they said I could pick them up in 7 days. 10 Days had passed and no phone call. I called up to see what was going on and they said it would be another 5 days. After another 5 days they were done. The lenses were cloudy and unclean. Visit 3: The frames had become loose after a month so I went to have them tighten. They told me they would have to take out the lenses to get this done. It would take 5 days. After 5 days I went there and the lady presented me with lenses...just lenses no frames! I said, "Where are my frames?" She said "don't you want new lenses?" Ok...first off what the hell am I supposed to do with just a pair of lenses and no frames if that was the case?!?! I had to wait an additional 10 days to get my frames back with the lenses in them! I get there and guess what...wrong frames. They has no idea what happened to them. How in the hell in a professional setting do you just lose frames.
This made no sense at all. They told me it would take about 5 days to find the type of frames I had before because they no longer had those types available in the store. After 5 days, no call. I went up to the store and they of course has no idea what I was talking about, it took them 30 min to find someone who was working the day I had came in. They said it would be another 5 days. After another 5 days, I went up and they didn't find the type of frames I had before. I gave up. Please. I know that 2 pair of glasses and a free eye exam sounds like a deal but you are getting what you pay for! Cheap deal. Cheap service. Very unprofessional. Horrible staff.

They never called me like they said they would once my glasses were ready, after waiting... I called inquiring about them and was told they weren't in and they may be on the next shipment. My response was filled with sadness because the glasses I was using while I waited for my new pair had just broke! The young lady said "well hold on Mrs." I was on hold less than 2 mins when she returned and said "they're here Mrs. You can come and pick them up!"
Visit 2. When I got there she said only three of the four pair I purchased were in, two pair for me and two pair for my daughter! So once again I was told, "We will call you when your daughter's 2nd pair arrives." Two weeks later I received no call. By week four I decided to just go up there without calling. Visit 3. I was asked, "Did anyone call you, saying your glasses were here?" I replied, "No," after looking thru things she said, "Ma'am they might be coming on our next shipment." MY reaction this time was frustration! I explained to her how long ago I placed the order and that 3 pair I have received, but the fourth pair I'm still waiting! I purchased a pair of progressive glasses from the America's Best store on Central Avenue in Albany, NY. From the moment I put them on, I knew there was a problem. I was told I should give my eyes a chance to adjust. I could not see as well to read as with my previous glasses, and I found myself holding them up in the air (off my nose) to see close up and medium distances. About 2 weeks after I received the glasses, I took them back to the store, and the woman "adjusted" them. Nothing changed. I looked at my prescription, went to Wal-Mart, and picked out a pair of readers to test them out. My vision was SIGNIFICANTLY better with the readers than with my new glasses.
After having them for one month, I took the glasses back again, and the woman who waited on us first tried to say that my glasses needed adjusted, then she blamed it on the prescription (which I obtained at a different location), and then she tried to say that my vision was worse with my glasses than Wal-Mart readers because my prescription corrects my astigmatism. I finally insisted that my money be refunded. I have worn glasses for 43 years and progressives for 10 years. I have never returned a pair of glasses prior to this.

The Pineville location of America's Best is the WORST place in the world to get service! My husband went on Saturday to get glasses for my son. To make a long story short, I went in with my receipt from Saturday with the manager's name on Glacier. My issues: 1. When I walked in, I was NOT greeted. The woman at the desk was on the phone. The other woman, an older lady, looked at me like "what are you doing here!" She said, "Can I help you?" but not in a welcoming manner. I told her I had an appointment. She said the lady on the phone will be with me in a minute. I waited, and waited, and waited. Finally, the other lady was like, "What's your name." Wow! The receptionist could not stop two seconds to say, "One moment," or, "Welcome. I'll be right with you!"
2. The Doctors were great! But when it was time to pick out the glasses there was a big lady with pockmarks sitting in a chair in front of the cash register computer monitor. She was mean as hell! Barking at the other lady every time she picked up glasses... "That's too big!" "That's too small!" "Pick up those!" While in her chair! She didn't even get up to help!
3. There was a mix up in the pricing. I wanted to call my husband to get clarification. While I am talking to my husband, without a word, she sticks out her hand. I am like, "Why is your hand out?" She barked, "Give me the phone. Let me talk to him!" Like I was her granddaughter about to get a spanking! I don't know this lady from a house cat! I told her, "The proper way to ask someone for something is say 'may I please talk to him or may I please have the phone!' " I said, "I am a 43 year old woman. How dare you take this tone with me!" I was shocked. All the while my 7 year old watched! She didn't say sorry, she didn't put her hand down! Can you believe she sat there with her hand up for like another 30 or 40 seconds.
I didn't give her the phone and I was so angry at my treatment! My son needed the glasses or I would have walked out! That is the second time I have been mistreated in that store. The last time the attendant started working with another customer while he was sizing my son's glasses! He actually apologized after I told him that was wrong. I DO NOT recommend this establishment.
4. The pricing is deceptive and I am going to write a complaint to the NC Attorney General's office. My 7 year old son had to buy men's glasses! The quality is not good on most and they don't make the sizes or varieties for kids. They are incompetent in helping you pick and the pricing is crazy! You pick 2 for $99. You pay $104. You pick 1 for $59 and 1 $69. You pay $99. You pick 2 for $59. You pay $69. And that is not told until after you pick! Where is it written? On a piece of paper at the register!
4. With all that I still paid. Till today no one said, "Thank you!" NO ONE! With the K-Mart closed and boarded up right next door, you would think they would be on point. But they are not learning that Charlotte is a word of mouth town. Time will tell this story!

Which means, smallest amount of blur & it's only on the outside edges of the lens. When I got them, the blur spot was so large, I could only see the middle of a sentence clearly. Again, they blamed the lab & sent them back. I had already waited 3 wks not the 2 they had originally said. They told me they were putting a "rush" on them.
6 weeks later the lenses came in. They were the identical wrong lenses that we had sent back! I just sent them back a second time! Meanwhile, my husband bought regular bifocals (which also came in wrong & got sent back) plus a pair of bifocals sunglasses that tint to blue/grey. The sunglasses he got tinted to dark brown, which is exactly what he did not want, plus the bifocals was wrong on them. Same problem as last year. Line was measured inaccurately. The lab does not measure the line. One of the workers at AB measures the line. It is quite obvious that the workers have little to no training. In addition, cutting corners to use the cheapest lab might save a few dollars, but how much are you really saving if customers are walking?

The Doctor was very knowledgeable and the staff helped me pick out the best eyewear to fit my face. The only downside is that you have to wait 7-10 days for your glasses to come in. As long as you shop in the right area and let them know your budget, you walk out paying $69.99 for two pairs of glasses and an eye exam. There are optional extras of course. If you just need basic glasses, you’re all set!

I feel like I was SCAMMED already just because I paid 5 times what I expected to pay. FALSE ADVERTISING!!! I only went there because I don't have insurance and it sounded like a deal. My old glasses were starting to give me migraines, vertigo and dizziness to the point I was nauseated. So I shopped around and America's Best. Few people under 50 wear glasses, and since I'm in my 20's I wanted to re-try contacts, so I asked about their contact lens exam. I told them I definitely wanted glasses. AND contacts. They said they would do a contact -and- glasses exam for 79.00. Great! I actually had an appointment elsewhere and called America's Best -twice- to reconfirm this seemingly AMAZING deal. (Walmart, Visionworks and another private practice were all quoting me 150.00 just for a contact exam!) So I end up calling America's Best -twice-, double checking they will give me a script for BOTH. They reconfirm this, all for 79.00.
I go in and all the young female staff are giggling and chatting in a huddle like they're in High School. I am completely ignored. The store is empty except for me, but I patiently wait for the girls at the counter to finish socializing. They never do. Another receptionist has to come out, notice me, then hand me the clipboard 20 minutes after I arrived. (Keep in mind I am dizzy and feeling the room spin, with my head occasionally in my hands.)
Big red flag. The receptionists would rather gossip and giggle and laugh than help a patient. I suck it up and fill everything out then am told to browse.the glasses. After I have my first two tests the lady (who I thought was the doctor - and whoever said what she was or her name ) asked me to do a 3rd test for 15.00. I asked what it was for. She said it was to check if I had "Macular Degeneration, cataracts, Glaucoma or a detached retina." I'm in my 20's??? My grandparents have the first two problems and they're in their 90's???
Second red flag. I politely decline and say I seriously doubt I have those problems. The lady is visibly miffed and cold after that. I am ushered from the room and told the doctor would see me eventually. When they called me to see the doctor and she asked what I needed I SPECIFICALLY told her "glasses and contacts. I want both because no one wears glasses anymore, but I want to take breaks from contacts." I have had contacts before and after work I want to take them out and let my eyes have a break.
We do the whole exam and NONE of the final options are 'clear' or without seriously blurry, even double vision. I Tell her 'none of these are clear for me'. She blames the computer projector and says "Oh, lots of people complain about that, but it's just the computer's distortion and not your eyes." I am really worried because she only flipped through a couple of lens and the final lenses in the 'is 1 better or 2' test has never been blurry, distorted or doubled in my LIFETIME (20+ years) of getting new glasses for my super bad eyesight.
If NONE of the final lens options she finishes with are things I can SEE CLEARLY out of... how is that a correct prescription?? I'm only mildly unsettled because I trust the 'doctor'. She wouldn't lie, right? I tell her. Then she says something worse, "I'm sure this is correct because it's the same as your old prescription from your glasses." The same glasses that were giving me headaches so bad I want to vomit and am feeling the room spin with.
After she dilates my eyes she tells me to do pick out frames. I asked her "What about the contacts? I'd like to know if you're having any specials, and if you have monthlies - which are cheapest. She paused, stared at me, and said...you didn't sign up for a contact exam." WHAT?? She said it was 'too late' to do more testing because my eyes were dilated. But she said that she could 'tweak' the glasses exam for contacts. Um. I don't think that's how that works. UMPTEENTH RED FLAG.
I go out of the room mentally panicking, because I am starting to think something is not quite right. So I ask someone who looks like she sort of maybe knows something, as she is sitting at a desk, looking over papers and seems about 50-60, which makes me believe she isn't an idiot. Bingo. I ask her "Hi, Is the contact lens exam the same as the glasses exam? I was supposed to be fitted for contacts but the doctor didn't do that." The woman looks like I was an idiot. "Of course they're not the same? What do you mean?" I asked if the doctor could just use my glasses exam for contacts. The lady says "No. They're not the same text and there are additional parts of the exam meant to measure you for contacts."
I'm screaming in my head. Because - of course. I'm sick, unable to function without feeling like I have food poisoning, and the "doctor" does not even do my contact lens exam that I paid for. (A glasses only exam AND two pairs of glasses are 59.00.) I'm distraught because the doctor is with a new patient, my pupils are like saucers and this woman is starting to act like I'm bothering her. I ask what I'm supposed to do? She said "You need to talk to the doctor." When I see her she shrugs off my concerns and repeats that she can just 'adjust' my glasses exam for contacts, so we "don't have to worry about doing the contact lens part of the exam."
I'm ushered out and told for the third time to -please just pick your lenses-. I ask the older lady I spoke to before when I'll have my glasses. (Because the receptionists are still talking.- meanwhile it's been at least an hour) She says 'a minimum of 14 business days'. She scoffs at me and says "We don't have an in-house lab! We have to send your prescription off and the glasses are shipped to us!" I'm speechless. I cannot live two weeks like this, dizzy and unable to see without wanting to constantly vomit or lie down from nausea and vertigo. (Which the doctor said was a sure sign I needed new glasses -today-.)
The older lady tells me the doctor said I needed 'glare proof' coatings, titanium lens and polycarbonate - not plastic- lenses. She started quoting outrageous numbers for the frames I picked. I called my mother and she told me to leave and only pay for the exam. * Which they charged me 100.00 for, despite the fact I never got a contact exam.). When I asked about the price she said it was "The package you agreed to. It includes revisits if you need a re-examination."
I gave in only because I felt like my first exam/prescription was -completely wrong- since I could not see anything at the end of the test, and just thought I would come back to re-test. But after reading everyone's reviews about just plain WRONG prescriptions, glasses cheaper than the dollar tree and incompetence EVERYWHERE I never ever EVER plan to go back. And guess what? I'm 100.00 shorter and I have no glasses, no contacts, no contact prescription and an incorrect glasses prescription. THE SAME PRESCRIPTION in my glasses that are making me sick. Rub. Run. Run away from this place. The cute owl commercials make you trust this place - when they don't care about you, get their glasses from chinese sweatshops, cheat you at every turn and give you WRONG PRESCRIPTIONS. I could have just set 100.0 on fire and come to the same results. Thanks for nothing America's Best (Scam Artists ).

I went to the America's Best on Pleasant Hill, Duluth GA location to have my eye exam done 9.30.17 and at 12:36. My order# **. I told the lady I wanted to get the 2 pairs for $69.95. Being that this was the 3rd time I've ever had to get glasses and I got my last 2 pair at Sears and I went through my husband's insurance, I wasn't too familiar with how the coverage worked. So I asked the lady if my exam was covered and she said she would call. She called and they said no.
After my exam, I went to pick out the 2 glasses, and may I add not many choices at all. The color coding is misleading. I was picking out glasses based on the colors and thinking they were the $69.95 so I had to start all over after she showed me that I could only pick out glasses from this area to this area, which was only about 50 glasses, if that at all. What a joke! I should have known to walk out right then. So I pick the two out and asked how they looked and the lady said, "Good."
In just a few days, they were done. I went to pick them up and my eyes looked huge. I asked why and the lady said it’s the frames. My face was small and the frames looked big making my eyes look big. I asked why would the frames make my eyes look huge. She said they can do that and explained to me in her own words. I said, "Ok but not sure why you all would not tell me this to begin with." So I pick out 2 more and the price goes up a little bit more. Then I asked for a refund and she said ok. I said wait, will I have to pay for another exam if I go somewhere else and she said yes. So, I continued to look for glasses.
About 3 or 4 days later, 3rd visit, I go to pick up my glasses and again my eyes look huge once again. Different lady and again says she doesn’t know why. I told her what happened last week. She said she thinks it’s the lenses. So I asked how. She said it depends on what kind of lenses I choose. She said because I got the basic. And again, why wouldn’t they tell me that it would make my eyes look big if I got the basic. So there goes my 2 for $69.95. I told her I had to stay within my budget, so I would only get one pair. I picked one pair instead of two and now one pair cost just as much as the two. So I thought again about just getting a refund and going somewhere else, but I did not because I'd have to pay for the exam all over again.
4th visit. About 3 or 4 days later, I go to pick up glasses and guess what, same issue. I could not believe it. I had spent hours picking out glasses each visit. I was highly upset. I told the lady to just forget it. Just give me a refund. She went and got the manager and she refunded my money from my HSA account. She told me that I would not be refunded for the exam which I was told $59.95. I was checking my HSA acct and had not seen anything. I guess I was looking in the wrong place. On 12.8.17, I remembered to look again, and had to call for help to find the credit; There was no credit, just a charge for $119.95 for the exam. This is ridiculous AND I got no glasses. OMG are you kidding me. This company is deceitful. They should have at least given me a credit for as many times they screwed up. Do you really not care about the customer? I cannot afford to get my glasses now. Names of the associates on my receipt: Diamond and Jodi.

The well-advertised deal of 2 pairs of glasses for $69 is extremely misleading. After choosing two frames in the 2 for $69 section, I sat down with the tech and was told the prescription (a very standard strength for nearsightedness) could not be done with plastic lenses and would cost $212. I've been a member of the Club, and although never really happy with their service I decided to renew my membership based solely on price. I went in for eye exam last week, West Boca Raton location. My current prescription for contact lenses was 2.50 on right eye only, for reading. Upon examination, the doctor decided that it should go from 2.50 to 4.25 on the right eye, plus 1.00 on the left eye for distance.
I was then sent back to a representative to pay for my bill. He asked me how many boxes of contact I would like to order, and I responded none at that time, because I still have several boxes I had purchased from Costco, and they could be exchanged for new ones if my prescription changed. I felt that they were not too happy with me not making a purchase from them. They never offered me free trials to see if I would feel comfortable with the new prescription, even though there's a significant increase on my prescription.
I then decided to get a second opinion. I set up an appointment with a different clinic of great reputation. After examination, the doctor concluded that my prescription should only increase to 2.75 or 3.00, whichever was more comfortable for me. She was blown away by the fact the America's Best did not offer me free trials, especially with a substantial change on my prescription. I will never go back to America's Best, even though I paid for a 3 year membership. I do not recommend it to anyone. I now realize that Vision is a great asset, and we should not trust it in anyone's hand.

When I ordered 2 pairs of glasses totaling $447.95 they didn't tell me the length of the earpieces are one size fits all. They're way too long for my head. I showed them my old glasses to prove that there are different sizes available, but they insisted they cannot provide shorter lengths. They wanted to bend the piece that goes over the ear straight down behind the ear, to make it shorter. That would have looked dumb. I'm just glad I ordered spring-tensioned side pieces, so they grip my head without falling off.
Ten months later, both sets of glasses developed stress cracks on the lenses. At first they didn't want to do anything about it until I showed them the receipt to verify the warranty period. They took both pairs and replaced the lenses. When I asked if the new lenses would be under warranty, they said only the original one year would cover them. Two months left. Has anyone else have trouble with stress cracks. Could it be that the reason their prices are so cheap is because their materials are substandard? Never again!

Even though they are a chain, they do not share patient information, so I have to get my prescription from Philadelphia's location. They will not give you this info over the phone, so they offer to either fax it (who owns a fax machine anymore) or mail it. I called not once, but twice to obtain my prescription in the mail. After 2 requests, it has been a MONTH and still no prescription. So basically if you cannot physically walk into the store to get your prescription in person, you're screwed.
