    When I called the person on the line was very nice, asked me for information, found me in the system. He said that I was covered by the warranty. After talking with the Samsung Rep. he said the TV needed to be replaced. SquareTrade gave me the option of 3 TV's to choose from. TV was delivered yesterday.

    They are not upfront with customers when their protection plan is purchased. They'll tell you you're covered for anything with the accidental plan which I purchased and that your product will be repaired or replaced. Then when file a claim you get told different things from each person you talk to you. I was told that my product claim was approved and would be either repaired or replaced. Then I received an email that said that it wasn't feasible to repair or replace my computer. I called them and went supposedly as high up in the company as I could go which was a floor manager. Please try again. I'm sure he has a boss.

    One of the representatives I talked to emailed me their policy and I read the policy while on hold for manager and he states what their policy is but it does not correspond with the email I received for them that was their policy. It stated in email that the product would either be repaired or replaced not refund my money for broken product. They are a shady company and misrepresent what they are going to do with the protection plan coverage. Wish I would have read all the bad reviews this company has before purchasing their protection plan. I will never do business with this company or Allstate their partner company ever again and I do not recommend anyone else wasting their money on their protection plans.

    Squaretrade offers repair, replacement and reimbursement resolutions for products covered beneath our warranties. Which resolution is available depends on your product, the price you paid for it and the issue it is experiencing. This information is listed in the terms and conditions of your warranty contract beneath Section 5 (How We Will Service your Product).

    In this instance we initially approved your claim for an item repair, but once the item was received it was determined a different resolution was necessary to service the product. Due to this we've provided you a full reimbursement for the price paid for the product, and we're sorry if you were dissatisfied with this resolution.

    I purchased this make-believe liquid PROTECTOR and when it came time to use it they said that the product was not registered and they wouldn't be able to cover my screen after paying these thieves $ 99.00. I had to work all day for that money and you just stole it. I hope this review deters many people. I went on ten social sites already and made you look like an old shoe. Keep my money you SCAM ARTIST!!!

So, after waiting 4 months, I finally received my reimbursement. It took one week after being contacted by KM. Thank you ConsumerAffairs and KM. I'm glad that this matter has been resolved to my satisfaction. Here's to hoping that my prior experience will not be repeated should I need to file a claim in the future. Again, thank you.

    I purchased a warranty from SquareTrade almost 3 years ago. I sent in headphones for repair in August 2018. After much back and forth, SquareTrade decided they were not able to repair the headphones and would give me my purchase price. They claimed to have sent the check to me twice. Upon calling, they claimed to send the check again. Last week, they emailed to say that the check was undeliverable. Last Friday, I spoke with a supervisor who told me the check would be processed yesterday. I got a phone call from another supervisor saying it was not processed but it would be done today. I just got another call that says the check was not processed because they are understaffed in Pakistan. SquareTrade has my headphones, my money and the warranty for my new headphones. Why are they allowed to continue to defraud consumers?

    Purchased cell phone and protection plan at Target 2 years ago. Now have a problem and they want a $129.00 deductible to start the claim process. Won't start without credit card information. Plan was sold as "Don't worry. They will take care of any problem. No cost as long as you keep making the monthly payments. Information given did not have anything about a deductible. Just options for service. Lessons learned: 1) Never buy a SquareTrade product. 2) Never buy a protection plan without full details in writing.

    Sarah was looking at different warranty companies and ended up purchasing from SquareTrade for the laptop that I use for my business every day. It’s important to keep it running. However, all the USB ports just stopped working. She said there was a lot of back and forth with their claims process as well as a lot of trying to prove exactly what was going on. We just had our first child too so that was making things a little difficult. She would have to get off the phone and then call back again. So, that slowed down the process a bit but the reason was more on our side. Once they said over the phone that there’s obviously something that’s unfixable with the laptop, we had the box in two days. In fact, I just got the laptop back yesterday and I fired it up last night, and started using it today. Right now, everything seems to be working very, very well with it. It's extremely valuable to have an extended warranty.

    I filed a claim with SquareTrade on Nov 17 2018. I had an issue with my Samsung S7 phone which I purchased at a Target store along with my SquareTrade Warranty. It has been 1 month since my claim was approved and I was supposed to have received a refurbished phone. They did send me a refurbished phone on Nov 30 which was useless to me because it was locked to different carrier. 8 phone calls and 5 emails later I still have not received my phone. I have talked with a different customer service specialist every time I have called, I have asked for their extension numbers and no one has one. It would be nice if one person can handle a claim.

    It seems none of the customer service specialist have any idea of what is going on with my claim. I have asked one simple question, "When is my phone going to arrive?" No one seems to be able to answer that question. This kind of service is totally unacceptable. I am so frustrated with the company. This is totally ridiculous. I am amazed that big stores like Target would carry such a terrible insurance company. This has been a totally frustrating experience.

    I acquired SquareTrade through Costco. I got a little frustrated at the end when they said to take my phone to someplace. We took the phone to the Apple Genius Bar, whoever they recommended, and they said that it was un-repairable. I asked SquareTrade if I could pay for a new one and they would reimburse me with the same brand. However, they said that they were gonna try to repair it and that put me back four more days. My phone was sent back to me but it was not repaired. So I demanded a new phone through SquareTrade.

    At this point, my problem has been resolved so, all is good. It's just that I was without a device for over a week and that was not something that I was pleased about. When I get a new device, I'm assuming it's a refurbished one, which is fine, but I feel that I should have an extended warranty on that for at least six months. I've had a refurbished phone before and it seemed like things started going bad shortly after. That part is a little frustrating. SquareTrade said that the phone is still covered under my original warranty but the warranty happened to be running out. One bad experience puts me over the edge. Still, I've been happy with SquareTrade in general and the way their program is set up.

    This company is HORRIBLE! I paid for a warranty that was supposed to be emailed immediately. It is now over a week later. I have emailed proof of my purchase of the warranty and the product for which I purchased the warranty. They STILL haven't sent me the warranty. I tried calling AGAIN and their office is closed for the holiday?!? It's December 13??? If you actually want the warranty you paid for, steer clear of this company.

    I have been having issues getting my laptop fixed or a refund I paid for spill and drop damage yet they are claiming nothing is wrong after a spill I had happen... The laptop constantly freezes... They were aware I had some freeze ups.. Well now it's worse and again I have sent it back, waiting to see now.

    I cancelled a plan and was told I was going to get a $50 refund. Instead of getting a refund, my credit card was charge 2 separate charges of $50. I contacted them, and they said it was a "glitch" and "They're working on it" and to wait 24 hours and someone will contact me through email. 28 hours later, I never heard anything, so I contacted them again, and was told to wait yet another 24 hours while their team looks over my account. So frustrating! Never dealing with them again!

    The phone is still not working as expected. I can confirm that the battery does work longer, but it has a dramatic drop off when it gets below 25%. Like it dies within minutes with no use when it gets below 25%. Also when the battery dies, it takes about 15-20 minutes charging before I can even turn the phone on... The battery is rated for 3000 but my app tools are showing it is only being utilized around 2500 (that's 1/6 for a new battery). The most important issue of the gps not working is still an issue. It does not lock in. It starts in locations about 30 miles away.

    Specialist have no knowledge of warrantied products. Follow script from computer screen. Have a discoloration on my 2 year old TV panel. Was told that I had a burnt panel and it was not covered because it was not an electrical problem. Burnt panel is cause by diodes burning out in the panel. (electrical issue). In my case... TV specialist have no training at all on the products. Very hard to work with. Many calls and emails later... no help. Never could talk to a real technician. So my $2700 TV is now junk.

    Squaretrade TV warranties include coverage against a wide array of hardware or electrical failures, but there are some issues which are not covered beneath our policies. These issues include burn in or physical damage to TVs, this is why we were unable to approve your claim. We understand you feel this issue should be eligible for coverage but burn in is specifically listed within your warranty contract as something not covered.

    Squaretrade does out best to provide all customers a copy of their warranty contract, if it has not been provided it can be viewed anytime via our website. You can also request an emailed or physical copy be sent to you, which any specialist with our company would help process.

    SquareTrade was offered at the facility we bought our son's laptop from. We had to file a claim and so far, they've done well. We’re just waiting for the laptop to be picked up to be repaired and then brought back. Also, the claims process was pretty easy. It’s nice that everything is prepaid before we have to do any kind of claim. The rep had a box sent to my wife with the prepaid label and we just had to box the laptop up and send it out. Working with them is easy enough and helpful.

    Submitted my claim for my four year old Samsung 50” TV which all of a sudden lost its video. I spoke with eight, yes eight, different people at Square Trade without any consideration to my problem which they kept saying was an ‘accident’, but it was obviously an electrical issue. I will never get their so called ‘coverage’ again and have reported it to Costco and emailed my entire address book of their lousy customer service. I wonder if there’s anyone at SquareTrade interested in hearing from a VERY disappointed multiple contract customer?

    Squaretrade does our best to approve all eligible claims, but we're confined to approving claims for item issues which are covered beneath our warranties. All Squaretrade TV warranties cover standard electrical and hardware failures, such as the item not powering on or functioning properly.

    In this instance we were unable to approve your claim due to a portion of the item melting. This type of damage is considered physical, and therefore isn't covered by this warranty. While Squaretrade does offer physical damage coverage for other electronic products it is not available for TVs at this time, and we greatly apologize for any inconvenience.

    Hello everyone, I see a few 1 star reviews and complaints. I recently had an issue with SquareTrade and not approving my claim. The easiest way to get SquareTrade to honor your extended warranty is to request a supervisor and inform the supervisor directly that you are going to make a complaint with the BBB and also tell the supervisor that you have been made aware of the fact that they are stealing from consumers when you purchase a 3 yr extended warranty. In reality you only get 2 yrs of warranty because they take the 1 yr manufacturer's warranty and just add 2 yrs to that warranty and call it a 3 yr plan... You are supposed to have a total of 4 yrs coverage including the manufacturer's warranty.

    I purchased a protection plan from SquareTrade for a laptop. One time, it was sitting on the counter when my wife was brushing her teeth and she bumped it. It fell off the counter and cracked the screen. I called SquareTrade and the guys had everything done. They sent me a box the next day, I mailed it out the same day, it overnighted and I had it back within a week completely fixed at no charge. Every step, they sent me an email and kept me up to date on everything. They’d let me know when they received it, when they started fixing it, when it was fixed and when they shipped it out. We always get SquareTrade in case of an emergency, just for that reason. With that claim and another claim we've had when the hard drive was bad and it got shipped twice and there was no charge, it basically paid for itself.

Also I opened up a claim for my tv and imputed all my information correctly as stated on the claim and at the end they didn’t want to honor it because of a glitch on there end.     I purchased a robotic vacuum cleaner from Amazon as well as the SquareTrade insurance. After a year of service the vacuum cleaner stopped working properly. I sent it to SquareTrade repair center however they sent it back to me claiming it does not smell good and falsely claimed liquid damage. They returned the unit without even looking into the issue. I had a long call and they kept saying the same thing over and again. Then they promised to provide me with a proof and few hours later they said they have no proof.

    They offered to refund the insurance amount but I guess that's not the purpose of buying an insurance. This company should not be in business until they change their business (or whatever) practice. (I see many other customers went through similar experiences). The customer service agent has been nice though but I believe she has nothing to do in this situation as she was just going by the book. The higher management seems to be the source of the malpractices.

    When I submitted my claim I was told I would receive choices of different TVs. They would be like kind and quality if not better. Also the remainder of my warranty would transfer to the tv I choose. I then received another email requesting me to sign a affidavit which I did. Then I was told I would be receiving a check and my warranty would not transfer. I then asked how much it would be for and was told $458.00 which was what I paid for my original tv which was two years ago. I asked how they came up with that figure and was switched to somebody else who said he didn’t know but would check on it and get back to me. That was the last I heard from anyone. It cost me $649.00 and a additional $69.00 for the warranty.

    Purchased a vacuum on 11/1/18 and SquareTrade warranty that was offered. The vacuum broke less 30 days. It was a small clip that broke but I was looking to possibly trade it in for a part. I called Square Trade and explained the issue and what I wanted to do. According to the representative I had to call the Seller or set up a claim with eBay since it has been less than 30 days. At this point I got no direction as to if I was returning this for a new part or refunding entirely with a warranty. I find out through online that eBay wants me to return unit.

    I was returned and as of 12/3 I finally getting my refund received (still not complete). All money refunded back only reflect the vacuum. The warranty purchased is still sitting here in place but no product. I’ve had a few warranties and exchanges and I’ve never had this much of an issue. I’m very disappointed regardless if the warranty offer is really cheap or not. Businesses should take pride in the product or service. I just don’t understand.

    The first TV I bought went out within a year, so I decided to purchase a protection plan for the next one I got. I bought the TV from Sam's and the warranty was with SquareTrade. When that TV went out, I first called my dish company because I thought for sure it was the dish, not the TV because it was only three years old. I was on the phone through them for three hours checking everything then they sent a technician out and he assured me it was the television. So I unhooked the TV and put it in the car. I thought I was gonna have to go to Sam’s but I called SquareTrade and they told me the TV would have to be hooked up as they would have to check. After another hour and a half with their rep checking every bit, he said that it was really the TV and he told me that they would have one mailed.

    But I told him that my warranty says, "If we can’t repair your TV, we’ll reimburse you, its replacement cost up to the original TV purchase price." He said that they didn't do that and told me to go online where there were some TVs which are comparable to what I had and should be better. But I told him that I wanted to upgrade. This is the second TV I've had that went out within four or five years and evidently, I was not buying a good enough television. He told me I couldn't do that and that I'd have to go and pick one out from the TVs they had. There was an LG and I chose that one. He said it would be delivered to me within seven to ten days and when I asked him if it was gonna be a new TV, he said yes.

    That was on Monday and on Friday, there was a little hanged thing on my front porch from Best Buy saying that they missed me. Afterwards, I saw an email saying that the TV was gonna be delivered that day and I would have a phone call from the delivery person within 20 minutes before they delivered it. I work so I wasn't here that Friday. If they told me that it was coming from Best Buy and Best Buy told me about it, I could have come over there Monday and pick it up, instead of having to wait till Friday without a TV. But they said it was coming through the mail from a distribution site and didn't indicate that it was just coming from 20 minutes away from me.

    Then I tried to call Best Buy and it took me two hours to get them to see what the deal was. They said that they made an attempt to deliver it and that they connected me with the Best Buy Geek Squad. But I told them that I just needed to know when they were gonna bring it, so I'd be here to make arrangements. They said I could choose Monday between 8:00 and 12:00 or Tuesday between 12:00 and 4:00, so I picked Monday. On Monday at 11:30, I still hadn’t heard anything, so I tried to call Best Buy again and they told me they'd call me back.

    In the meantime, this Geek Squad rang my doorbell with the TV at about 11:40. I told them that I thought they were supposed to call and they said that they didn't have my phone number. They did my have my husband’s and they called him on Sunday. They said something about an order from Best Buy and he said that he hadn’t ordered anything from Best Buy because that was the truth. We'd ordered from SquareTrade. But the guys that delivered the TV were super nice and they apologized. We were also glad to get the TV. It is a new TV and the only problem that I had with it is, when we put the stand, it had little screws and the screws in this little thing on the bottom never would tighten up enough. You just couldn't get it tight enough and the TV moves back and forth. But the TV itself works fine.

    Still, I was disappointed that they didn’t honor what their warranty said and I assumed that if they would issue me the price that I paid for, then I could get whatever TV I wanted, which was what it says in there. It also read, "The replacement value definitely include any waste under the Electronic Waste Recycle Act." I'm very dissatisfied because they didn’t do what their protection plan said and I would never buy an extended warranty again.

    Other than that, gentlemen from Best Buy who delivered the TV were very helpful. In fact, one of them gave me his cell phone number and said that if there was any way he could help me, he'd be happy to. So, when I needed some help setting it up, I called and he walked me through over the phone how to get the television to recognize my dish remote. That was not in his call of duty to do that and he could have certainly said that he was gonna have to charge $50 if he was gonna do that, but he didn’t. So, the next TV I’ll buy will be from Best Buy because he said they want their customers to be happy and they're trying to help them.

    I purchased a protection plan for a Samsung 60-inch TV from Costco. SquareTrade was the one that they were offering and they told me I had to deal with SquareTrade. When I was watching TV, it turned black all of a sudden. Nothing was showing on the screen, so I thought the timer had shut down the TV. I pressed the power button on the remote, but nothing came on. I went to the TV and when I pressed the power button there, it didn’t come on. I checked the plug and I changed the connection to a different socket. I tried everything, but nothing worked. I called Costco, and I told them that my TV just died on me.

    I checked and noticed that my extended warranty was still valid until some time in December. They connected me to SquareTrade and I explained the same thing to the SquareTrade agent. He went to the same process again. He told me to try and do a reset on the TV, and it was gonna come on. He also told me some steps I had to follow on my TV. I did the reset, but it still didn’t come on.

    He then said that I would have to get someone to fix it and when they fix it, I should get them to issue me a computerized receipt with a paid stamp on it. I would pay for that myself and when I send in the receipt online, once they receive it, they would process it and issue me a refund. They gave me a couple of referrals around my area. I called those once, but nobody answered, so I went online myself and I got one of them. I called and the man said that he was gonna come and look at it the next day.

    The guy came and looked at the power. He opened up the TV and noticed that something was bad. He said he had to take it back to his shop and see if he could get a replacement. He eventually did that and came back with the replacement part after a day or two and installed the back on the TV. It has been working since then. I emailed the receipt to SquareTrade through their website and after they received it, they processed and told me that they will be issuing me a refund check in the mail. I’m still waiting for the check to arrive.

    We got a SquareTrade protection plan for our Samsung, 55-inch, curved TV when we bough it. We were hit by a lightning so we called SquareTrade if the TV was still under the service deal, and asked if it was covered. They said yes and we got it fixed. It worked for several months, except we always had to unplug and plug it back in to get it to come on. We had to do a hard reset every time. So I called them back and said, "Hey, this is very annoying, it's not really fixed, to us, if we have to unplug it and plug it back in every time." They said okay and did the little test that they wanted, and said it is fixable.

    They ordered the parts and the parts arrived here within two days. That was fantastic. But I'm really upset right now. Not with SquareTrade themselves, but with the service people. They weren't able to make it and they didn't bother to tell me until 4:30. I had to call them twice to find out where they were at. The service guy said, "Well, we're running a little late. We'll be there in such and such time."

    So after that time passed I said, "My husband wants to go out to dinner, it's 4:30, and you guys haven't even called me yet." So I said we were gonna have to reschedule. It was kinda aggravating in that way. It was gonna be 10 days later before they could make it. But I've been really happy with SquareTrade themselves. They've been very responsive. It was just the particular service people that were not meeting my expectations.

    I purchased 3 extended warranties with SquareTrade and every time I submitted a claim, they always denied the claim with an excuse not to honor the warranty. For a tv warranty I had Costco to step up, but it was denied even with Costco involvement: luckily Costco honored the warranty even though they did not have to. For my latest claim they did offer a full refund for the warranty I purchased, but it has been a week and I haven't received any refund as promised ** and no response despite sending another email to ask where my refund is.

    I sent in my 13 month old iPhone 8+ because it wasn’t getting any power (This was confirmed by an Apple Tech who ran a diagnostic test for an hour right in front of me). My phone was shipped to you with this knowledge. I paid my $85.00 deductible and had high expectations it would be addressed. It was sent back to me several days later in the same non-working condition! I called SquareTrade to report this and 3 different associates said they couldn’t do anything to help me out. We went in circles with our conversation for over an hour. No resolve was concluded.

    As we all know so much of our daily needs are in our phones, and I needed mine. Finally I called Costco call center and told them how frustrated I was and how rude the SquareTrade associates were to me. The Costco associate, Juliette, was wonderful. Costco refunded my money for the insurance plan and exchanged my phone for a new one. I stand behind Costco in customer satisfaction and would NEVER use SquareTrade again. SquareTrade makes Costco look bad and they shouldn’t use them to represent the company. SquareTrade isn’t a reputable company in my eyes. I would stay away from them. If you want insurance don’t go with them, go with your carrier... At least you can be face to face with someone and not a call center in another country.

    I have purchased multiple SquareTrade warranties over the years but haven’t had to file a claim until recently. It was a simple claim for an iPad that quit charging. After two long phone calls with rude customer service personnel outside of the US, I initiated a chat. SquareTrade would not accept the only receipt given to me by the retailer, Best Buy. They tried very hard to give every reason why they can’t accept a claim. They insisted that I follow their suggested steps that solve “70%” of the problems. I explained the iPad is dead because it can’t charge and they still insisted I “reset to factory defaults”. Very frustrating. I’m filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Insurance Commissioner. Don’t buy SquareTrade warranties, you will just be throwing away your money.

    So I purchased an iPhone on eBay and also paid for the SquareTrade protection plan. So it had charging problems and the charger port was nonfunctional before the screen cracked. And the SquareTrade representative said that there was nothing they could do because it's not covered because when I purchased the protection plan accidents were not covered under the plan. Nowhere did it specify that accidents were not covered, all that was printed was that if the phone had any problem they would take care of it. Do not purchase any plans from them. They're a complete waste of money and time. They're quick to take your money but when it comes to actually fixing your product they can't help you.

    I had the SquareTrade protection plan with accidental damage for an Apple Watch Series 2. Due to an accident on Nov 2 the glass watch face was cracked and the damage was beyond repair. Filing the claim online and sending in the watch was easy. The rest of the process was a nightmare. I sent in the watch and they received it the morning of Nov 7.

    I finally received a replacement on November 23. 13 business days after you received my item. This is well past the promised dates of 2 to 5 business days and 2 days shipping for a max of 7 business days. Also this replacement process has been full of lies. The promised dates were way off. I was promised if it was delayed beyond the 5 days I would be notified. I was promised the replacement would be checked by SquareTrade for proper operation before being shipped to me. I was then promised over the phone the replacement item would be coming from Best Buy. I was sent an email with a tracking number saying it was sent overnight FedEx.

    Here’s the truth to the above lies. It took over 13 business days to get my replacement. It was not until I started calling and it took 3 calls to get two days to find out the delay and then took two more days to be told it would be replaced. The replacement I was sent was never checked by SquareTrade to verify if it was the correct item or if it worked. The item in fact came from a private seller on eBay which then goes back to previous item. Will the watch work, what kind of further warranty and it is in fact the correct item. The item was shipped USPS priority mail and took two days.

    First I made a claim for iPhone I purchased for 212.00. I also purchased the protection plan through SquareTrade. Well after having the phone for about 6 months, the battery would drain quickly and would not hold a charge. So, I filed a claim with SquareTrade and I was told to take it to an authorized repair shop in my city. However, I told the specialist I would like a new phone. He insisted that getting it repaired at a local shop would be the best option. So the phone got repaired and I submitted the bill for 305.00 which is more than I paid for the phone.

    SquareTrade approved my claim only for 212.00, and I'm out of 93.00. Which could have been avoided if the specialist agreed to send me a replacement phone which I wanted in the first place. 2nd the specialist did not mention that I'm only covered up to 212 for the repair. Finally, when I call to speak with a supervisor all he can say is he is sorry. Wtf kind of customer service is that? I'm sorry that I purchased a plan from your company. If anyone is thinking about buying a plan from this company think twice before doing so.

    Don't waste your money as they won't honor their warranty. Purchased a Samsung 55" 4K tv from Costco for $849.00 plus tax plus an additional $59.99 from SquareTrade to extend my warranty to 5 years. Costco warranty runs out after 2 years and I start having problems with screen. SquareTrade is contacted for claim and basically tell me my item is not covered and then I must have abused this item all from a picture. They do offer to reimburse my $59.99 and my question is, "If you are going to reimburse the money due to my abuse why would you reimburse me anything at all if it is my problem?" ---- Basically they don't or won't honor their warranty and will refund $59.99 instead of paying the $849 TV claim. Can't believe Costco is involved with an unethical company

    I get a protection plan with everything I buy that's electronic and it costs somewhat decent money. When I ordered a phone through the Home Shopping Network a couple of months ago, SquareTrade warrantied it. When my 9-year-old fell on the ice and cracked the phone, I contacted HSN to ask how to utilize the warranty because they never actually give you a solid pamphlet. I only had the digital proof. HSN gave me the proper number. I went online and everything was done there which was very nice.

    I explained what happened to the phone and included the make and model of the device. I was asked if I preferred a similar or replacement phone or to get it fixed. My daughter really liked the phone so I preferred to get it fixed if possible. At that point, it was deemed that, it would be financially easier to just reimburse me for the money and have me order another one, which was exactly what I did. Having an extended warranty is wonderful. The second phone I purchased, my daughter received yesterday. I had to get that new one activated and I purchased a protection plan for it too.     Sam’s Club talked us into this insurance when we purchased my sons phone last Christmas. The first day back to school the phone disappeared & when we checked SquareTrade this was not something they covered, thank goodness we had Asurion insurance through AT&T. Then now the screen is broken and we are told we have to have the paper receipt??? I looked over a week trying to find it & I called Sam’s. They said it was stapled to my paperwork, with this computer age I don’t know why I have to have that 1 little paper! Once again thank you Asurion, never again will I waste my money on something like this even if it is attached to a big name insurance company.

    I purchased SquareTrade for a Note8. It was offered when I purchased the phone at Costco. I filed a claim because the screen got cracked but I’m not sure how. When I picked it up, there was a crack on the side. I called SquareTrade and they referred me to a couple of places that would do it. Then, I had to go to the store, pay upfront, and then they reimbursed me with a check later on. The claim process was okay. I wish there were closer places that offered the parts though. I had to drive to Mountain View which was roughly 20 miles to get it fixed. I also wish they could just pay my deductible when I go to get the phone repaired instead of having to pay out of pocket, so then I don’t need to get reimbursed. But the reimbursement period only took within a week.

    TV went as after two years screen issues, so I called for a replacement, it went smooth and received my replacement a 50in, mounted it and everything and then no picture when turned on. I couldn't believe it, caller and again process went smooth. I was told the old TV would be picked up and the new one delivered, so I was okay with that, as I shouldn't have to spend my time and money to ship it back. He said I would receive an email with the info. But when I received the email it instructed me to print out a label and ship the TV back which was not discussed. So I called again and ended up talking to the same gentleman and all he could say was they provided me a different option.

    How is that the case if I was supposed to be scheduled for a pickup. He said again that I would be emailed again to schedule a delivery but that was what er had discussed the day before also, so how do I know that's happening? And he could provide me with no proof this was taking place. And now I have lost time when I should be farther along in the process, I have no TV for the holidays let alone regular usage. He also couldn't tell me anything about the email I would be receiving. Now I have to hope that it's being taken care of and I'm behind on it. It was also supposed to be a new TV that was sent but with it not working right out of the box, I'm not so sure it was. And at least my old TV had a picture, a bad one but a picture, now I have nothing. Huge inconvenience.

    Amazon offered a protection plan with SquareTrade for my modem and I purchased it. When I was having issues, my internet service provider was telling me that those issues were the fault of my modem. So I contacted Amazon who put me in touch with SquareTrade and SquareTrade said it was still under the manufacturer's warranty. So, they got me over to the manufacturer. SquareTrade's reps were really nice, good, and polite. Rather than just give me the phone number and tell me to call the manufacturer, they got me in touch with someone. I would buy from them again because I always believe in additional warranty.

    Purchased a 60" TV at Sam's Club with a 4 year SquareTrade Warranty. At the time the stockman brought out the wrong model. Had to return and repurchased the model I wanted. Did all this before I left the store. Asked if the warranty is still good for the correct model. Yes was the reply. 2 years later TV goes bad. Tried to file a claim. Lo and behold, wrong TV was on warranty. I could not find the receipt so I was told to get an electronic receipt from Sam's. Tried online, no deal. Drove to Sam's and wasted an hour trying to get a e-receipt for the purchase.

    e-Receipt showed the exchange and the warranty. Scanned and emailed the e-receipt to SquareTrade. After spending an hour on the phone and being transferred 4 times I was told they can't honor the warranty because the model I have doesn't match the model on the e-receipt. So now I'm out $700 for the TV and $99 for the warranty. Never Again. I purchased many SquareTrade warranties over the years. Never, ever again.

    I always had a very positive experience with SquareTrade. This time my experience was very different. After getting an email saying they would repair my laptop and return it in 2-5 days... I had to try and contact SquareTrade at least 3 to 4 times before they finally told me after about 2 or 3 weeks (!!!) that they would return it.

    I can understand them taking longer than expected but they should have contacted me. Contacting them was quite difficult. Their phone system is inaccurate and difficult to navigate. One person told me I would have it at the end of the week, I had it at the end of the following week with no update, no information in between. Then I called and they said I would get an update email within 24 hours. When I called back 24 hours later after not receiving an email, they said it will take another day or two to get an email notifying me what the story is. This was over two weeks after receiving my "we will ship out your repaired laptop in 2 to 5 days" email. All in all quite frustrating.

    I have purchased several warranties over the years and have only had to make one claim. The claim process was very easy and was resolved very quickly. The claim was on a dehumidifier which is considered a major appliance. Initially I was told that it would have to be shipped to a SquareTrade facility. But that was corrected and the return wasn't necessary which saved a lot of hassle. The matter was resolved quickly over the phone and I had the reimbursement check in about a week or so. The process was very easy. It works the way it should which is a very pleasant surprise these days.

    SquareTrade does exactly what it says it will do. I always make Square Trade my first choice in extended warranty coverage and feel like it is the right and best decision. And I have suggested SquareTrade to people who have asked me about extended warranty coverage. I usually choose Square Trade over retailers extended warranties unless there is a specific option for coverage not offered by SquareTrade.     I want to say that SquareTrade have the best customer service reps. Very professional, accommodating and helpful. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for the warranty coverage. We bought our surface pro from Costco and bought 4 year warranty. We have quite a few issues and after 3 claims, they tell us that they can no longer take additional claim after just 2 years because we have reached our cap. Apparently, claim is equal only to the value of the item you bought before tax. I wish this was explained to us!

    When I called SquareTrade to describe my computer problem they were very attentive and understanding. I had purchased an HP Stream which, apparently, had been sold to me without the manufacturer's one-year warranty. The technician could hear the frustration in my voice, and, after checking verifying the Serial No. and other details, got approval for my case, gave me a claim number right away and sent the postage paid FedEx label.     I've had several experiences with Square Trade, they are always prompt and helpful when it comes to a claim. There was one time though that I had purchased a camera and it wasn't able to be repaired, the refund I was given was so little compared to what I had paid for the camera as they were unable to repair it. They prorated the value of the camera which was a little over a year old, I believe the refund was around $50 and it was over a $200 camera.     I recently had my mother drop my phone which cracked the phone screen and they gladly replaced it but the negative came today as I was tripped by, to be polite here) a crazy whacked out lady who plowed into me knocking me to the floor and of course the fall cracked the phones screen. Well after calling ** I was assured repeatedly there was a warranty on that phone and should contact SquareTrade to get it replaced. Of course when I called SquareTrade when I informed them of my accident the line went dead and repeated calls ended the same and when I finally got ahold of someone I was told there was NO WARRANTY which of course made me upset and then the line just went dead and once again I repeatedly dialed them and as before no answer.

    Then when the call was answered was told there was no warranty and once more the same thing I was put on hold for 15-20 minutes then dial tone. I was fuming and this is where I hold ** responsible as they refused to intercede on my behalf as I can understand their policy but there was no hint of help as they told me they won't help! I'm paying an extra for a warranty and believe accidents do happen and I was put in a position of great stress as I had to buy another phone which of course I think was pure **!! As that's what I thought the INSURANCE WAS FOR!!!

    If that company needed a 1-10 score I'd rate them negative 10 and full of crap, not the word I want as the 4 letter ** word fits. Is not an insurance policy paid for by me suppose to protect me as after this for lack of niceties I end here. I got "SCREWED" by this piece of crap company and find out the hard way that there A LOT OF HANDS IN THEIR BACK POCKET as the consumer gets screwed by all. DAMN!!!

    I purchased my TV from Sam's Club in January 2015. On November 10 my TV quit working. Won't turn on, won't do anything. No worries I thought, I purchased the warranty. I called. Located my receipt and called SquareTrade. My paperwork clearly states that "TVs larger than 37" will be serviced in your home. If you call before 3 pm EST a technician will be to you within 24 hours." SquareTrade needed me to submit my receipt and said it could take 2 days before they located my policy. On November 12 I received an email that I could now file a claim. I attempted to file the claim. After entering all information it said I needed to call. They weren't open (even though they boast 24/7).

    I called later in the morning, went through a lot of nonsense with the representative. He kept asking me to tell him what it said on my TV screen -- again, the TV won't turn on! Finally he called the TV a "dead unit". Then told me he's sending parts to me and they'd locate someone to come repair it! I questioned the 24 hour guarantee in my paperwork, only to be told that wasn't possible. It's now 11/13 and the parts haven't shipped, and the email I got was that they are having a harder time finding a repair technician in my area. We're at day 4 with no resolution from SquareTrade. Wishing I wouldn't have bought this warranty, because by now I'd have gone and purchased a new TV, and have countless hours of my life back. I would never recommend someone purchase a SquareTrade warranty.

    I was disappointed when I closely inspected my laptop and notice the damage that had been done to it. It had gone in for a screen replacement on my previous claim. There are very obvious bending by the HDMI port. It's all bent, on the right side of the computer you can notice bending of what I believe was the tool to remove the broken screen. The new screen is not set on the right and it's rather popped out. By the start button there is a chip and bending, you can also tell where the laptop casing is not sat right. It's slightly open.

    On the back side of the computer one of the screws doesn't even belong to my computer, it's a different color and size. It even sticks out. I hate to call and find that after the time and money I am losing, without my tool, my laptop, I get it back in this condition. I have had this laptop and have never dropped or tried opening it, the only normal wear from it were slight scratches on the surface from going in and out of my laptop bag. I invested good money on this computer and seeing it come back in this condition is really unacceptable.

    Second claim; Talked to a representative about my problem, and they said that they would compensate what my laptop was worth and that they would send me a second claim. Talked to another representative, said he was sorry that they were only going to fix it. I send my computer a second time, by this time they said my insurance was expired but that they will send me another box to file the second claim. After I send my computer, received it exactly the way I send it. No fix whatsoever. And now with my touchscreen not working. I thank you for your time considering my product. I am not looking for a third claim or any matter related to your service, or additional services to fix my laptop. Thank you for your time.

Upon our second receipt of the item it was determined there was no failure of the device functionality and this is why it was returned unrepaired.

    I am horrified by the repair job their repair center did on my headphones. I initially sent out my headphones because the rubber covering my volume controls were starting to come out. What was done instead was damage the control completely and damage the microphone in it. The dents their repair center left when they pried open the casing. It was a morbid butched job and poorly executed.

    I receive the headphones back with that poor quality repair condition. I called back and had to submit proof of the bad job done. Their call center was in disbelief of my testimony so I had to submit a comparison vis-à-vis a headphone case and how it looks in prime condition. I sent out my headphones again but this time, they did not sent the return package with a required signature to receive the package and my headphones were left at my front door which was stolen. Needless to say that I will NEVER get their warranty ever again. This is the worst experience I've ever had with a claim. It is a complete disappointment and a waste of money, time and carbon footprint.

    I am not happy with what happened when I needed to get a watch that I bought from the Invicta watch company through the Evine channel. When I needed to get my watch repaired and the watch was fairly new but when I got the watch it was damaged, but I could not return it back within the 30 day return period. It fell to the SquareTrade part of the agreement. They would not let me trade the watch in for a new one. They wanted me to take it to a place to get it repaired and then they were supposedly going to reimburse me not even for the full amount for only three quarters or whatever it cost to repair the watch. By the way the watch in question was a high-end watch. It was covered in diamonds on the face of the watch. It was a $2,500 watch

    Subpar Not Worth the Hassle: I purchased a SquareTrade warranty from Sam’s Club for a TV. I contacted the company when my component input stopped working. At first, I was happy that I purchased the warranty however I would soon find out that it was a total waste of my money and not worth the hassle. The individuals answering the phone at SquareTrade tried to do their job but the vendors and their processes that they use are awful. It started with me scheduling a repair appointment. It was seamless and painless I believed until the repair company did not show. Granted I contacted them the day before to confirm the appointment, because they had not contacted me.

    The day of the appointment I was faced with a no call no show. Granted I had set aside time for this appointment. I contacted SquareTrade and they attempted to call the repair company, but could not get an answer. I was told that they understood my frustration and would send someone else. They did not. They contacted the same repair company. They apologize and stated that it was something wrong with their phone and they would make sure that they showed up for the rescheduled time. The day of the appointment I waited 30 minutes after reviewing the traffic reports earlier figuring maybe they got caught in the traffic from an accident. I contacted the company and asked them where they were because they were not repairing my TV. 2 hours later someone shows up to repair the TV.

    SquareTrade sends the parts to you and tells you not to open the box. Upon the repair company opening the box, it was found that they had sent a used part, which literally looked like something had been laid on the board and the components were bent. By the way, I am an IT professional and they mailed the part wrapped in bubble wrap not an anti-static bag. They attempted to repair the TV with the part and based on the way it looked it did exactly what I felt it would, not work.

    SquareTrade contacted me with replacement TV choices all of which do not have a component input, which was the very thing that failed on my current TV. At this point, I had spent about 9 hours of my time between waiting on appointments and contacting them. I just wanted to get it over with so that I could move on with my life. I agreed to take one of the TVs. A national chain store Best Buy brought a TV set that literally looked like it had fallen off a truck. It was so bad they had used a fragile sticker to hold it together. I contacted SquareTrade again and told them that I did not trust this vendor. They saw that TV before they attempted to deliver it to me. The saddest part is there is no warranty on the replacement TV, so if I get a junk TV I will find myself purchasing another one and paying $25 to recycle it.

    Today I see an e-mail indicating that they have ordered another TV from the same vendor and they have to attempt to send two TVs. The vendor told us when they brought it that they get two tries, so I am not sure if they get paid twice or what. However, the entire process has been a time robber in which I have not been paid for my time in conjunction with the stress and aggravation. Unless you have hours and hours to waste and enjoy being frustrated I would not recommend purchasing a SquareTrade policy. Do the math. The cost of the warranty, the time that I have spent not getting paid for my time, the adapters so that I could have a component input, the stress which is not healthy, and the potential double recycle fees. The bottom line is I may still end up having to purchase two TVs (i.e. my initial and a new one) despite having a warranty.

    I got a SquareTrade protection plan for my Galaxy tablet. My tablet's screen got cracked, and it was easy to file the claim with SquareTrade. But I had a problem trying to get a copy of my receipt from Sam’s Club. I had to call SquareTrade to get it going because I lost my receipt. They sent me to Walmart to get a copy of my receipt.

    The SquareTrade representatives helped me and one of the sales guys was so nice about it. He called Sam’s Club himself and told them to give me a copy of my receipt because they have a copy of my receipt. Having a warranty on everything is really valuable because you never know what would happen, and SquareTrade worked out fine. They’re doing a good job. For any kind of electronics you have, SquareTrade is a good place to go to.

    The receipt is from Amazon which do not provide hard copies or receipt. It is save to a pdf file. If that is not good enough just forget it and I'll be sure to join the others who wrote bad one star reviews. I didn't want to believe your customer service was that piss poor. I guess that $4.95 I just donate. Never again will I buy a SquareTrade placement plan and I'll advise everybody I come in contact with.

Square trade ultimately decided to reimburse me for my tv since I didn’t feel any of the replacements were up to par ..     When I first contacted SquareTrade About my broken TV I was pleased with the company. I filed my claim and followed the Techs steps to try to fix the TV where he told me it wasn’t fixable and I would revive a email with “8 or so TVs to choose from” and he told me “If you're not satisfied with your options to refresh the page in 6 hours and You’ll have new choices to choose from”. I hang up pleased with the outcome... thankful for how fast the process was thinking I’ll have a TV ordered by the next day and it’ll be here in no time. BOY WAS I WRONG...

    First off, I get the email with ONE option... that wasn’t even comparable to my TV... don’t lie and say I’ll get to choose a TV when you're simply only going to send me one. So I wait the 6 hours refresh the page still the same TV... wait a few more hours, site is down for maintenance. Talk to someone on chat they tell me to wait 24 hours so I try again the next morning and now the page is stuck loading saying “gathering your options“. I call SquareTrade once again to be told they don’t know why I’m not seeing any options and at this point I’ll have to wait 24-48 hours to hear from someone and at this point they will do a manual trade. So I’m expecting a phone call to discuss the issue fast and get a TV ordered and delivered ASAP... WRONG. THEY SEND A EMAIL with another subpar TV. One that cost less than my original with less features. With terrible reviews and complaints of the TV breaking within a year.

    Nowhere on the email states how to get ahold of someone if I don’t want this TV. It’s like they are trying to make you think you don’t have a choice! So once again I open up chat and ask them how I go about having a conversation with someone so I can get a TV ordered they told me to wait another 24-48 HOURS! So you’re telling me I have to go back and forth through email to process my claim and every time I get an email I have to wait 24-48 hours for a response?

    The plastic headpiece on my $169.99 AT&T headset broke after one year of occasional use. SquareTrade called it an ACCIDENT and denied the claim. Filing the claim was time-consuming. First, I was told I could not move forward until I had the item in my possession. 2nd call, I was informed I needed the receipt. I spent time trying to track down a receipt and eventually learned that Online Staples does not provide receipts. Immediately after submitting the claim, a denial was issued. No time wasted there. I have been waiting on hold to speak to someone about the denial for 41 minutes.

    I made a purchase at Office Depot for a Realspace Landon Desk with Hutch. I purchased a warranty and was told if anything happened with the desk, I would get a replacement delivered to my home free of charge. When I filed a claim, I was offered a check for $40 less than the purchase price. I then told the agent what I was told. I was then told if I wanted a replacement, I would have to pack the desk up and send to SquareTrade. This thing weighs well over 100 pounds so I choose the check. I don’t know if this was misinformation given to me by Office Depot or SquareTrade.

    I purchased my Samsung phone at Target and this is the insurance they offered. I set up the insurance to be paid on my credit card. As with all credit cards mine expired Sept 30 and the October bill was rejected. They sent me notice last week to say I was cancelled and couldn't be reinstated. WHAT? OK, must be a mistake. So I sent them an email stating same number and, "Here is my new expiration date." No, wouldn't accept it.

    I've been without insurance for 2 weeks. They can cover a new device but not this one. Seriously, are you kidding me?? I haven't even had a claim so they've just been taking my money and I haven't asked for anything in return!! IF YOU ARE OFFERED THIS INSURANCE JUST SAY NO! I CAN'T BELIEVE ALLSTATE IS associated with this sham of a company. I've had homeowners and 2 cars insured with them for 20 years. This is not how they do business.

    When I had my first Fitbit, my husband and I ended up replacing it three times so he decided to get me a warranty when he ordered another one for me. Fitbit offered a SquareTrade warranty and my husband took that. One time, I cracked the screen of my Fitbit Blaze and filed a claim online to SquareTrade. I just had to pay for the deductible and then they sent me an email saying that though they no longer carry the Fitbit Blaze but then instead, they were offering me a Versa.     Updated on 11/06/2018: SquareTrade responded to my concerns by advising that they would not accept the return of the substandard TV sent me and refunded my $129.00 cost for the warranty. I had offered to bring the TV back to the local Best Buy that it was delivered from. The VIZIO TV I had purchased in 2016 cost $999.99. They sent me a Hisense H8 series valued at $599.99. I found two TVs at Best Buy comparable to VIZIO I had purchased. One was a VIZIO and the other a SAMSUNG. Both were on sale for around $700. SquareTrade said no. So now I am stuck with a substandard TV and feel deceived by SQUARETRADE and the promises they make when you purchase their product.

    Bottom line, be wary of purchasing a warranty plan from SquareTrade. If they can repair your TV the warranty will be worth it. If they choose to replace your TV do not accept the options they provide you as they are substandard replacements. Demand to get a TV that is comparable to what you had purchased. Don't listen to what customer service says. There is a resolution center. The bad thing is the only way you can reach them is going through this website as customer service will not tell you about the resolution center. Hopefully you can learn from what I and others have gone through trying to get SquareTrade to be a good partner when trying to use the warranty you have purchased. Good luck.

    Original review: As a customer who has been with SQUARETRADE consumer for over 10 years I believed the company would stand behind the product they sell. I was so wrong. After purchasing a 65-inch HDTV for $999.99 I selected a warranty from SQUARETRADE based upon the cost of the unit. Before the warranty expired the TV I purchased experienced an issue that could not be repaired. I contacted warranty support who connected me with their TV technicians who had me spend 2 hours trying to resolve the issue. When it could not be fixed I was told that I would be receiving a replacement HDTV for the TV I had under warranty. They offered me a selection of 3 HDTVs that they said was comparable or better than the one I had purchased.

    I selected one of the TVs they offered after being reassured that the HDTV I would be receiving would be just as good as the one I had bought. The TV arrived from a national chain as one of their stores was nearby my home. As soon as I turned the HDTV on I discovered that it was a piece of junk. I called warranty support who advised that there was nothing they could do as I had already ordered and accepted the TV from the national electronics store. They said, “If you had just called before you ordered the TV we could have done something for you”. I explained that this option was not provided until after the TV was delivered. The warranty support specialist, which is a call center based out of the United States, said there was nothing they could do.

    When I asked to be contacted to a dispute resolution center for SQUARETRADE I was advised that there wasn’t one. When I asked for information related to the corporate offices I was told by warranty support that there wasn’t any way for a customer to call the corporate office. I did do research on the replacement TV they provided. Cost was half the price of the HDTV I had purchased and had placed under warranty with SQUARETRADE. Bottom line, the SQUARETRADE warranty is not worth the paper it is on. If you can find another warranty service, select them and not SQUARETRADE. DO NOT BUY A SQUARETRADE WARRANTY.

    WARNING... THINK TWICE BEFORE PAYING FOR SQUARETRADE PROTECTION PLAN... I purchased a 65 inch Panasonic 4K UHD TV and I also purchased a SquareTrade protection plan for this price range of a TV. SquareTrade protection plan's pricing was based on the cost of my TV. However, today a very nice repairman came to fix the tv, however it was deemed to be not repairable. Therefore, my TV qualified for a replacement as per SquareTrade policy, when I received the replacement tv options as Samsung, they were lesser value and quality than my original TV.

    After 3 phone calls and hours on the phone, I finally got a call from a supervisor called "Dillon" and argued with him for almost an hour to explain to him this simple logic... When I paid for SquareTrade policy, I was charged for SquareTrade protection plan a rate based on the cost of the TV's price range... Then why am I now being replaced with a TV with a price range of over $250 less? If that was the case then I should have been charged a lesser for the SquareTrade protection plan.

    I then offered a compromise to meet in the middle, however, Dillion declined and repeatedly stated that they "were replacing my tv with the similar features and quality", I again argued... If you just use the features as a comparison then you can find the same features in a $500 or in a $2500 tv and even by the same manufacturer!!! It is like you paid for your auto insurance for a BMW 5 series car and you paid up for this insurance plan based on the cost of your BMW 5 series car and now your insurance company totals your car but they want to replace the car with a BMW 3 series... They then argue that it still has "similar features and quality". 4 doors, same engine, 4 wheels... etc. This is WRONG and UNFAIR!!!

    I even tried to compromise for a Samsung version of the TV which would be approximately $150 less than my original TV as this tv "were to replace my tv with similar features and quality"... However, Dillion at SquareTrade refused to understand my logic and honor a decent replacement for my TV and wants me to settle for a lesser value of TV despite me paying for a protection plan based on a certain cost range of my original TV. BEWARE of SQUARETRADE's coverage... Now I see other better protection plans that I wish I knew about when I purchased my TV. I will avoid SquareTrade for all my future electronic purchases!!!

    I bought a flute for my daughter. She’s in beginning band and anything to do with kids needs a warranty. SquareTrade was offered at the purchase point on Amazon. I bought the flute at the beginning of the school year. The new band teacher didn’t want the beginning band students to even attempt to play their instruments for the first couple of weeks of instruction time. When they pulled out their instruments, my daughter was having trouble playing it. It did not work. The teacher thought that there might be an instrument issue and, a week later, it was clear that it was the instrument.

    I tried to initiate a claim online but I was having website issues so I did the chat room. Then the next rep that I had was a bit condescending and he was hard to understand. I was told that there were no issues that have been reported but that doesn’t mean I’m not having issues. The final representative that I spoke to was also kinda hard to understand. I kept having to ask him, “I’m sorry. Could you repeat that?” But, overall, he was polite, he knew what he was doing, and he expedited the process. I spent less than 10 minutes on the phone, which was great.

    A week later, the check was on hand for me to purchase my daughter another instrument. The extended warranty enabled me to afford a different instrument. It’s close to the beginning of the school year when you spend all that money on supplies, fees, shoes, and clothes. And, with a new instrument plus band supplies for another student in the band, there was just no way I could have afforded it. But, I wasn’t really happy. I understand depreciation in cars and such, but when you got an instrument that is less than two months old, I don’t understand why you don’t get the full price back.

    I purchased SquareTrade for my iPhone X. After having the phone for six months, It fell out of my purse and onto a ceramic tile floor, shattering the screen. I contacted SquareTrade to file a claim. The fastest way to get a phone was to have them send me a refurbished one and return mine to them. I did this and had no problem. This was in July. Fast forward to October, my phone suddenly has a thick green line appear on one side of the phone. I contact SquareTrade and they tell me to go to Apple. I take the time to set up an appointment and travel to an Apple Genius Bar only to find out they cannot fix it. Partially because it has to be sent off and also because it is not the original phone but a refurbished one, the insurance should cover it. Wasted trip to Apple. I call SquareTrade back and they then refer me to a repair shop. I make time to go to the repair shop.

    The guy tells me he cannot fix that again because it is a refurbished phone and he has contacted SquareTrade. In the process of this, he takes off my cover only to realize that the phone is literally coming apart. He tells me that is a defect from whoever replaced the screen. I call SquareTrade yet again. I am told because it is outside of the 30 day warranty period, I will need to file a claim and pay the deductible again to get this repaired for damage that I did not cause. I now have to mail this phone to them and wait until they fix it or replace it which will take at least four business days. Not only am I still paying for this phone, but I have also already paid SquareTrade the cost of the plan plus TWO deductibles and the phone is junk. I will never again purchase SquareTrade.

    When my cell phone failed I expected a simple exchange as they implied. But discovered you must deposit $750.00 which will be returned when they receive your phone, something unexpressed in the advertisement. I think most people like myself don't have a spare $750.00 to send, and what happens if they lose the returned phone or find some other reason why some or all of your $750.00 is not returned. I sure they will have some placating answer to this. So if you believe them go ahead and waste your money. As for me NEVER AGAIN!

After jumping through hoops with Apple Store repair itemized receipts not being enough to pay their claim they are now asking for Verizon purchase receipts from 23 mos ago - after gladly taking my two year advance premium payment. SquareTrade no longer will be trusted. Don’t believe any reply they put on here it’s all lip service.

    Original review: I did everything they asked including going to Apple and waiting all day to get the repair done per SquareTrade instruction. I submitted the Apple receipt for repair and they won’t pay because the receipt Apple provides to EVERYONE is not sufficient to SquareTrade. Btw their app would work so then had to reply to several emails. Go somewhere else. A complete scam!

    I purchased Vizio M60-C3 60 inch television less than 3 years ago. The key defining feature for this purchase was a native 120 refresh rate with an effective 240 refresh rate. SquareTrade has now offered me 3 different models all with native 60 refresh and effective 120. They have then said "manufacturers no longer make native 120 refresh" which is a lie. They also then try to argue that a native 60 refresh is the equivalent. I have explicitly stated it is not and a "comparable" television must have a native 120 refresh rate.

    I have multiple times explained that I would only accept a native 120 refresh, or a buyout. 4 phone calls and multiple emails later, I am still being asked to "define" what I want in a replacement. They are hoping you get annoyed enough that you accept a non-comparable unit. I would not recommend anyone do business with the company and myself will be filing a Better Business Bureau Complaint and will most likely need to invoke the arbitration clause laid out in the warranty contract.

    Updated on 11/07/2018: This is a followup to a review I wrote on Oct. 23, 2018. SquareTrade wrote a response and tagged the review as "Resolution in Progress". This a stall tactic. I have not heard from them in over two weeks. You will see many reviews which have the same status. Below is shortened version of my response to SquareTrade.

    "1. Computer was registered online with SquareTrade on 2.7.17. 2. Coverage started 2.7.17. 2017 and the printout said there was no waiting period. 3.Contract has NO mention of a 30-day window between purchase of the contract and purchase of the computer. 4. A clause which describes the waiting period as "...thirty (30) days between purchase date and coverage start date which if any issues occur, are considered pre-existing conditions.." 5. Neither of the Brochures at Staples from 2014 nor the 2016 does not mention 30 day window (see SKU228221). I believe the existing contract is valid but you will not be honor it." SquareTrade did refund my purchase price for the service contract however this is irrelevant to the validity of the contract. Had there not been a claim, I would not have been aware of the post hoc conditional exclusions and SquareTrade would have simply kept the premium.

    Original Review: I purchased a Two-year SquareTrade warranty at Staples on Feb 7, 2017 for a laptop computer purchased from the Microsoft Store on Dec. 28, 2016. The computer arrived on Jan. 3, 2017. On Oct 10, 2018 I submitted a claim for a blinking screen. I provided SquareTrade with a copy of my receipt and received verification from SquareTrade that my receipt had been received and that my claim would be processed with one business day. I did not hear back and tried to log in on Oct 23, 2018 but was told I had to call the warranty number.

    I called the warranty number on Oct 23, 2018 and was told that the warranty was not in effect because it had been purchased outside the window of the 30 day period between computer purchase and plan purchase. There is no mention of this 30 day period in either the brochure from Staples OR in the contract I received from SquareTrade on Feb 16, 2017. In fact my contract specifically states that there is NO waiting period and my coverage began Feb 7, 2017. After some discussion with the representative, I was told that I would receive a refund of my $99 purchase contract. I'll write another review if I don't receive it within the next 10 days.

    My point is this--the validity of the contract was known at the time of purchase. Either Staples misrepresented the terms or SquareTrade was deceptive. If I had not filed a claim over the life of the warranty SquareTrade would have pocketed the $99 for a contract that they knew they would never have to fulfill. Insurance prices are based on the expectation of likely failure rates and the risk is spread across the entire pool of purchasers. However, the price is based on all purchasers having valid contracts. SquareTrade in this case accepted my money knowing that they would never need to make a payout. This is fraud, pure and simple.

    I personally hate this. When you call to cancel they argue with you. I hate companies that do this. I do not recommend any company that does this. In my case I bought a phone and then 6 months later wanted to get a warranty. After I bought the SquareTrade warranty I read the fine print that said (paraphrasing) that they only covered phones if the warranty is bought when phone is new. Everything else could potentially be viewed as a pre-existing condition. I understand their need to do that. So, I wanted to ca because I am clearly not covered. I have no documentation to prove my phone is in like new condition when I bought the service.

    Once on the phone to cancel, the salesperson argued with me to convince me that I was in fact covered. Legal point here. Whatever they say on the phone is not binding. What the sales terms say is binding. This requiring a phone call to cancel is clearly a somewhat fraudulent practice to purposely obfuscate the clear terms of a written sales contract that protects them yet leaves consumers like myself verbally assured but contractually unprotected.

    Additionally, pre-existing conditions are considered to be issues with your device that have been present since it was first purchased. If your phone was fully functional upon purchasing your item and warranty your claim would never be denied on this basis.     I have tried since August to get answers on why I have never received any of my SquareTrade warranties in the mail. I have continually tried to contact SquareTrade for answers and they never respond. I don't know if it is stored in my Amazon somehow, or if paperwork should be showing up. But it never showed up. I've purchased these on multiple occasions, but nothing ever shows up. Yet, I receive other offers in the mail to protect my cell phones and other devices with the SquareTrade. No one will reach back out to me.

    And at this point, I am to the WILL NEVER PURCHASE AGAIN point. It seems like more of a scam than support. Maybe if someone actually responded to one of my many emails and requests, I would feel differently. Until I hear from a representative. You have lost all of my business. I bet I have a dozen of these warranties and have no way to track them because I've never received any paperwork. I didn't WANT to ask for a refund. I WANT the coverage.

    I tried for 2 days to send a purchase receipt for a printer that failed. The instructions on the website would not work. The email sent me that I would attach my photo of the purchase receipt would not work after 4 tries. Called Customer service no help. Called again for a fax number so I could send in the receipt, he wanted to send me another email. Completely did not listen to me when I explained that did not work. So now I have an address to MAIL in the receipt. My printer has been ions for 3 days now. So another week probably for snail mail to get the receipt to So SquareTrade. I rate their company ZERO stars.

    I purchased extended tv protection warranty for LG OLED 55" TV from SquareTrade. I developed a problem of multiple dark horizontal lines after using Directv closed captioning for movies. SquareTrade advertises that they cover screen damage/malfunction and an icon in their advertising shows screen with multiple horizontal lines. I sent them copies of sale slip, serial no. and screenshots of my tv. After examining these they said SquareTrade doesn't cover this type of screen damage and that this screen damage was listed among events excluded from coverage. This is a lie and website did not exclude this type of damage. They offered to buy me off by refunding the purchase price for the insurance. This is scam crap insurance so save your money.

    I was told and I have a copy of the transcript that SquareTrade do not offer warranty on drones (Polaroid PL300 WiFi Camera Drone 720p HD Live Streaming), YET I was able to show them an advertisement showing that they do. When I tried to ask them about the price change on getting the warranty, they said that they do not offer warranty on drones. Then when I show them, they say that it is a glitch on the eBay site. If that is true, why haven't it been corrected?

    Every time I deal with SquareTrade, I am always told differently on what is covered and what is necessary for a claim. Dealing with a claim on a cracked screen for an iPhone X. I got approved to get it repaired at the Apple Genius Bar. I was told via email and over the phone that I only needed an itemized receipt. If there were additional repairs done or if the phone was replaced THEN I would need a work authorization form. I verified all of this BEFORE I went to the Apple store to ensure I had everything ready.

    After my repair I then go to submit the receipt. This morning I receive an email saying I need a work authorization form after I was clearly told before I got my repair that I would not need it. Good luck calling in to SquareTrade because they never want to help and transfer you everywhere. I even spoke to managers and they could not even tell me where I was told that I would be required to submit this form for the repairs I was approved for. My advice: Stay away from SquareTrade!

    It's valuable to have an extended warranty. Instead of having to pay $500, you either get your phone fixed or get a new one and trade it in. I have SquareTrade warranty on a couple of cellphones. I did a trade-in one time and it went good. The experience was pretty easy. They said "go get it done, send us the receipts, give everything back," and I paid the $50 deductible.

    I purchased a "brand new" Sony CD player/recorder from eBay. I purchased the warranty through SquareTrade. Unbeknownst to me at the time of purchase - Sony no longer makes this player nor the parts for it. When it didn't work, I took it to 2 different local repair shops who took my money and kept the player for weeks. I was told it was unrepairable. I contacted SquareTrade who told me to send it to Sony. I sent it to Sony, who kept it for weeks, and sent it back saying the parts were no longer available for repair.

    Sony stopped making this player in 2003! As well as the parts for it! After going back and forth with SquareTrade - on the phone, emails (sending copies of the invoices 3 times that they claimed were not received when in fact I have an email trail), they tell me to take it somewhere else to be repaired. At this point, I want a FULL REFUND. Which is WHY I PURCHASED THE WARRANTY!!! SquareTrade refuses to honor the warranty. If SONY does not make or cannot get the parts - WHO CAN??? SquareTrade will NOT HONOR the warranty. DO NOT PURCHASE AN ADDITIONAL WARRANTY AS YOU WILL JUST BE OUT ADDITION MONEY!!!

    I had called earlier that day to speak to a rep about a claim I had made for a broken phone I had purchased on August 3, 2018 replacement. The rep (Simon) told me they would try to find a replacement phone and that my 3 year warranty would be completed once the phone was replaced. I told the rep that I had purchased the warranty for 3 years of coverage and just because I was using the warranty, I should not lose it. I told him it was not right to tell the customer they were purchasing a three year warranty when in actuality, I was repurchasing it every time I had a claim. He told me to hold and he was going to speak to his manager. When he returned he told me the manager was going to replace my phone and extend the warranty for the 3 years. I told him how thankful I was and the call ended.

    A short time later, I received an email from SquareTrade that said they were unable to find me a replacement phone (a phone that was brand new 1 month earlier) and they would be sending me a refund check for the cost of the phone. I was also informed that my warranty WOULD be completed at that time and I would have to spend the money to purchase a new warranty for my new phone. I told the new rep about my previous conversation with the other rep (Simon) and how he had gotten approval to extend my warranty to the new phone. She told me she could not do that and passed me to her manager.

    Her manager got on the phone and was very rude and gruff with me and told me (Simon) cannot extend a warranty to the new phone because they could not find a replacement. I felt this was a racket and a very convenient, sleazy way to make a buck! I bought a 3 year warranty that was guaranteed by another SquareTrade manager that was not honored. This company is a joke! Don't waste your money!

    I purchase a "warranty" for a 60 inch LED TV I bought three years ago. I just did some minor remodeling and moved the TV across the room, plugged it back in and nothing but a line across the bottom showed up. I called SquareTrade and was told by the rude CSR that I damaged the TV and was trying to get a new one for free. After finally getting a claim and sending in pictures it was denied and again I was told I damaged it. I asked them where on the TV was it damaged but no answer. I guess I am out of $800 and will never buy an extended warranty again.

    I usually shop from Amazon and not in person in the store. When I purchased devices a month ago, I looked for the coverage that I could give less money but I could get as much. SquareTrade was offered in the email. I compared what was covered, the customer experience and decided on what insurance to get. Amazon let the SquareTrade payments through easily. One time, I called the customer service for the three devices. Two of the cases were resolved and everything was okay. I got what I needed and what I paid for. But the other time, it was a nightmare and I just gave up. It wasn’t worth the pain of making calls and sending emails for the money that was involved. Overall, I'm happy.

    I bought a Vizio 50 inch from Sam's Club and added a extended warranty from SquareTrade in July 2016. The TV broke down - no pictures or sound. It started as a vertical lines on the screen from top to bottom. The excuse was that it was physical damage and was lying about the damage. However, this was not the case. I requested for someone coming to physically checking the TV but they refused. They did not honor their part of the contract.

    I bought a Galaxy s8+ last year, and I had to get it fixed so I used the warranty twice, and I figured the next calendar year I would be able to use it. Well, they told me I can't use it after my two times but will KEEP charging me the per month charge, even though they never told me after my two times I used the 'Insurance' my 'warranty' is complete, meaning I can NEVER use it again. What a load of crap! My phone broke down today, just a few days past the 30 days they give you for a warranty on a refurbished phone. They will not replace the phone even though it was their fault they gave me a faulty phone. Will not be insuring my devices through them anymore, thought they would be a good company but they kept things from me and just straight up lied to me.

    When they said they would keep charging me without telling me I can no longer use the insurance, I asked "what if I get a new debit card number" and the guy said that I can update it in my account and I said "what if I don't" and he said "well, we can’t bill you" LOL. Are you kidding? No thanks, crappy company. Now I'm without a working phone after I paid my $120 deductible a little over a month ago to get a refurbished phone since my original one took a dump and I'm screwed on a phone.     Please, be aware that SquareTrade is the worst protection plan EVER!!! I purchased TV at Costco in 2015 with the SquareTrade Protection Plan. In 2017 I started having problems with this Smart TV, it was losing sound, turning off, picture was freezing randomly. There was no explanation for any of this. I am a scientist and extremely neat person, this TV as every piece of electronics in my house has been very well taken care off, no damages, no contact with any liquid, even dusting has been done at least once in three weeks.

    I contacted SquareTrade, spent in total about 8 hours on the phone, talked to different departments, even talked to TCL tech support. SquareTrade personnel told me that it was a software issue, which has not been really confirmed by TCL Tech Support. I talked to the main manager of SquareTrade (His last name is ** something like that) Support, who recommended me: "to purchase the streaming device and that they will send me reimbursement for the streaming device, further instruction will be provided in the email," which I have purchased. I have not received any email for any reimbursement. This solution offered by the kind manager from the SquareTrade didn't fix the problem, TV still turns off randomly even using streaming device.

    I contacted SquareTrade again, spent another 4 hours on the phone. They told me, that I am still eligible for the reimbursement for the streaming device and they won't do anything about TV, that I would have to record videos of TV performance without streaming device and with streaming device and send them. I finally received email with the instruction on how to get reimburse for streaming device. I sent them my receipt from Best Buy and I HAVE NOT HEARD from them since. Talking to tech support at Best Buy, I have been told that the problem is in the smart chip which is in every Smart TV, not in the software.

    Why SquareTrade so sure it's a software problem and doesn't want to do anything about it - I don't know. But I know for sure, that SquareTrade is the WORST protection plan ever and if you are thinking to buy one, do NOT waste your time and money!!! I hope that this SCAM PROTECTION PLAN AGENCY will fall apart in the future. Just to finally make me happy and satisfied. SquareTrade, I hate your customer service and wish you all the worst.

    Save yourself the headache and heartache! This company is a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND A JOKE! If I would have known from the get-go what I was getting myself into I would have never signed up for this "scam". My husband's SPRINT phone broke, I did an insurance claim on a Saturday afternoon. I received the 1st phone on the following Monday and the phone I received was a Verizon phone, so I contacted Square Trade and they sent another one phone out. The following Thursday I received another phone that was AT&T.

    At this point I was LIVID, I contacted SquareTrade and demanded my deductible back. The company said 3-5 business days, which I did receive. The company also said they would send another phone out and it would be SHIPPED OVER NIGHT. I received the phone the next day and SURPRISE SURPRISE their company shipped me a T-MOBILE Phone! At this point, I spent more time going back and forth from home to FED EX! So I called SquareTrade and told them I would be sending their phones back, and would like to know how they were going to make the situation right. SquareTrade said they would mail me a check for $899 the value of the phone, so I could go purchase a new phone. Its been 4 days and I have yet to receive the check! Today I called and cancelled this scam! DON'T DO IT TO YOURSELF! This costed me $800 out of pocket for a new phone when I thought I had insurance!

    Squaretrade replacement devices are highly tested to ensure they are fully operational, and a large percentage of our replacement devices are unlocked which do not require a carrier lock. We understand in this instance there were multiple replacements provided with incorrect carriers.     I bought an electric lawn mower on Amazon and bought an insurance policy with SquareTrade. One of the batteries stopped taking a charge. So I filed a claim. The process was the most complicated and frustrating I've ever seen. After hours and hours of work on my part to file the claim, their resolution was for me to take my item to a repair shop and have it fixed, then send them a receipt. What repair shop on the planet fixes a bad battery? I just needed a new battery, for crying out loud. It was at that point that I decided not to spend another moment of my precious time trying to deal with this. I will never, ever spend another penny on a worthless SquareTrade protection plan.

    The Epson Printer 4550 broke down. The copy feeder failed and a gear came out. I was unable to get paced back in the machine. SQUARETRADE handled the WHOLE CYCLE.     My product was returned faster than it took to be mailed to the center. The product still has not been received and this request for a review came. I was told that the "depot" could not reproduce the issues that my device had. I wonder if they even charged it up and allowed it to sit or see how long it took for the battery to drain. Additionally, they did not ask about the issue of the light on the back of the device that won't go out. My heart rate would not register for me. How could they determine those things when they had the device less than a week? I am very disappointed in the quality of service and it feels as though they just want to push me through the mill without proper attention to my issues. Waste of money.
