Purchased a new Kindle Fire and a Square Trade 2 year warranty at Amazon.com on March 8, 2019. About a year and a half later the Kindle Fire would no longer charge. Tried multiple new Kindle charge cables. Just spent an hour on the phone (August 29, 2019) with Square Trade; they said all of the Square Trade warranty paperwork is done through Amazon and somehow Amazon personnel messed up and attached this warranty to a similar device we ordered 2 years before. Since it was Amazon's fault the warranty is expired.

This warranty was a 2 year warranty and it purchased on March 8, 2018; therefore it has only been 18 months since purchase date of the Square Trade Warranty. I cannot explain Square Trade's reasoning that a 2 year warranty expires after only 18 months. Since it was only $30 for the warranty, I am not going to go through the hassle of a small claims court battle. But hopefully someone else reads this, and can steer clear of this fraud-ulent company. I wish I had researched Square Trade before buying; as it is clear I am not alone in being swindled. I had heard they 'were' a good company, apparently that is past tense. Square Trade Warranty is worthless; don't get duped like I did.

Square Trade understands that life happens and that is the reason the claims stay open up to 90 days.

On Oct. 4, 2019, our 55 inch Samsung TV (we bought at Sam's Club), just turned off. It would not come back on. All we got was green lines at the bottom of the screen. I contacted Square Trade on Oct. 7, 2019. I went through all the initial questions. Then I was told they could not find my warranty or my Sam's membership number. I was on the phone for quite a while. Next I was told it was their system. Finally, they found my warranty info. and told me to send a copy of the receipt. I did that. Then I received an e-mail stating they were having trouble viewing my receipt. I went on Sam's website and downloaded a better copy and e-mailed it.

I called a couple of days later and was told they had not received the new receipt. I sent it three times. The woman I spoke to said, "We're having trouble with our system". I told the woman that's what I was told last time, and there can't always be something wrong with your system. All of sudden she found it. Next, I was told to do some trouble shooting, which I did not help the problem. I then received an e-mail to send pictures of my TV, to include the model and serial numbers. I sent those pictures four or five times (to pixturerequest@squaretrade.com, and warrantysupport@squaretrade.com), I would call and was told they didn't receive them. Then I had my son send them from his phone to Square Trade.

I received an another e-mail sating the pictures were not received. Mind you, during my beginning of contacting Square Trade on Oct. 7, 2019, until my last conversation on Oct. 24, 2019, I have talked with with someone at Square Trade on the phone as least six or seven times, not to mention the e-mails. The process was always the same, it was like starting a new claim with no resolution. Oct. Oct. 12, 2019, I spoke with Johnnie. She said she spoke with a supervisor, and that I should have a resolution by the end of the next. Well, that did not happen. I kept telling the support staff that I needed to get this resolved because I was going in the hospital for major surgery, and couldn't and couldn't take the stress. It was a night-mare. Each phone call was less than at least seven to ten minutes. There were more calls in between the call on Oct. 11, 2019, and the last one on Oct. 24, 2019. All pretty much the same as before.

On Oct. 24, 2019, I called again and spoke to Joy and Marvin. Marvin said they never received the pictures. I told him they did because I had an e-mail stating the pictures were received. What do you know, all of a sudden he found them. He said I would have a resolution no later than the end of the next day. I reiterated to him that I was have surgery on the 28th and needed to get this resolved. He promised.

Well, on the evening of Oct. 24, 2019, I received the so called resolution. It was an e-mail sating, they needed me to take pictures of my TV and send them. The same e-mail I received at the beginning of the process. Since my surgery this is the first opportunity I have had to submit this review. I feel like they try to frustrate you to the point you will just give up. I have always believed in buying an extended warranty, but never again with this company. I think Sam's, Costco, and Walmart need to know the warranty product they are providing. Susan **.

    Hello Susan,

We apologize for any difficulty experienced with your claim.

Squaretrade has compiled years of experience to make the claims process as efficient and hassle-free as possible. Some of the ways we've improved this process include some preliminary troubleshooting, as we've found this to be successful with fixing a wide variety of issues.

If the troubleshooting fails to fix your product this is a confirmation of the problem being rooted in hardware, which also helps our technicians determine the best way to proceed. We understand the troubleshooting did not fix your T.V.

SquareTrade understands that this process between getting the photos to us and us being able to have visibility took a longer time than expected.
We want to turn your experience around and complete this claim for you.

We have provided you with a full warranty refund as a courtesy, via check and mailed via USPS. An email has also been sent to you with information to finalize the claim process.

Bought a modem router on Amazon. Also bought a S Trade warranty. 1 1/2 yrs later, the apparatus broke. Filed a claim. Claim was accepted really fast and I got my check for 55$ within 1 week. For some reason I decided to cash it and not deposit it to my account. I went to a Citibank and they told me there was a "stop payment" posted for this and other checks. I would have had to pay a fee to my bank for this check if I had made the deposit. No communication from S Trade at all. I calk them and all I got was. "We are going to investigate and get back with you in 24 hrs." So, now I have a piece of paper that says Square Trade on it. What kind of scam is this? What a shameless company.

My son accidentally broke his tablet and I had insurance for it. It was really overwhelming for him. So I was like, “Okay, I’m gonna try to get you a new one,” but that’s when SquareTrade said that they were gonna give me back the money. The claim was made last month, but I had to tell them that I haven’t received anything. My apartment is really messed up with the address so if you try to look for it, it comes out to another address, but that address is not even on my street. Sometimes, the person that delivered just can’t find it. I went deeply and I put the address back in November 7, but I haven’t received anything. They told me they were gonna void it, but I don’t know. Other than that, the staff is great. They have been answering my questions and helping me out.

I bought a Vizio TV and am outside of the normal guarantee for the 1 year that comes standard. I realized I had purchased a SquareTrade extra guarantee to cover me for the next three years. I am within my time frame, everyone agrees, Vizio has opened a file for us that states they would have covered this failing screen under their warranty if it was within the 1st year. The SquareTrade people were polite while telling me this type of experience is because someone has damaged the screen. This is not true and a Vizio tech asked us all the necessary questions to diagnose what is going on. One of the SquareTrade reps said because the part is $1200 they don't want to cover it, they also offered to give me the $99 back for the guarantee.

I just want what they agree on their website and all materials to be true. I bought the guarantee now honor the guarantee. Either send someone to fix it or replace it. Millions of people are buying these policies and this has been 3 days of back and forth between parties to only get to the point where a supervisor is supposed to call me back. Don't buy this guarantee. They will not honor it. At least that is my experience.

Bought insurance for my Samsung Galaxy S9 and the fast charge feature on the phone stopped working. Began the process of filing a claim. Provided information regarding the problem as required and then get the message that the problem can be fixed by restoring and rebooting the phone. I had tried that multiple times before filing the claim. I then check on the status of the claim and it indicates it is closed, with no resolution of the issue. The coverage is a waste of your money. You would be better off saving your monthly payment and putting it toward the cost of repairing or replacing your phone.

We purchased a HP Pagewide Pro Printer that retails for $700 online. We got a great deal from Staples for $399! We purchased the protection plan for SquareTrade upon purchase who happened to be partnered with Staples because we have had issues with printers in the past and thought better be covered in case. We recently had an issue with the duplex module on the printer. Square trade told us we needed to send back the printer to them for repair but because we run a business they told us that they can send a repair company to us. After never receiving a response from this repair company I called the number for Square trade and was told they are issuing a check for the cost we paid for the printer. I was confused because to purchase another printer this would cost me an additional $300! Good deals like we received two years ago do not just fall in your lap every day and we shopped around.

Apparently there is a limit to liability clause in their contracts that do not cover beyond what you pay for the product and they will not replace the product if the cost is beyond what you pay. HOW IS THIS OKAY?! Very few people purchase items at full price these days. This should be something the company advertises immediately to the consumer before purchase. This company chooses the easiest way out for them to not pay full price of your purchase. If this was advertised at purchase I would be telling a different story right now. BUYER BEWARE and READ FINE PRINT! Now let me go purchase my new printer in 5-10 business days!

    We apologize for any inconvenience.

SquareTrade works to ensure our plans are advertised properly, and we also provide customers access to their warranties at any time via our website or mobile app.
If desired, we can also provide a copy of the warranty contract via email or hard copy upon request, which provides more details regarding your policy coverage.
The warranty covers you for the length of the plan (coverage term) or until the coverage amount is met (limit of liability), whichever comes.
The limit of liability is the amount that you paid for your printer.
We again apologize for any inconvenience.

The camera stopped working and it blacked out, and we filed a claim to SquareTrade. They responded right away but it was a pain to find all the information about the purchase and the claim to file it. It would be nice if when you first make a purchase, you go ahead and you register the item immediately. So, when you do have to make a claim, you just sign in or log in, and the item is already there. You could just click on it and give the reason for the return or for the claim, which will be perfect.

The remote controlled car started making weird noises and then slowly, it stopped working. I can’t say that making the claim was that easy. It says to do it online, but there are too many variables to enter in and it’s not that clear. I had to chat with somebody first to get it through. They didn’t even let me submit it. Apparently, even though I have insurance on the toy, it’s still within the warranty time so they want me to contact the manufacturer. So, I was a little disappointed in the insurance policy since I assume it was there and I would like to use it. I bought insurance so it would make things easier for me in case the toy ever broke down. They’re making me go through all these hoops and try to contact the manufacturer first, call somebody, be on the line and be on hold for 20 minutes till I speak with somebody again. Going through all that again while having insurance is useless, so I probably would not do it again.

The little console fell out of his hands, so it ended up hitting the floor and breaking one of the joysticks. I did the claim through my phone and it took me five minutes to go ahead and file the claim, print out the paperwork and send it out. It was really simple. I bought a used printer from eBay and I was a little concerned because it was still a $200 printer, even used. So, I bought the extended warranty from SquareTrade and I'm glad I did that. It was about five months that I had it that it broke down. I made a claim to SquareTrade. I had to bring it to FedEx and they had to pack it. But SquareTrade paid for packing it and shipping it both ways. The receipt for the boxes was $31 and change - $29 to pack it and with tax, tip and everything. As soon as I forwarded that to SquareTrade by email, within an hour, I got a letter that the check has already been cut, and it will be sent out on regular mail, however long it takes to get from where they are to where I live.

The whole warranty was only 21 bucks and just packing the carton alone was over $30, plus the shipping and whatever it cost to fix it. So, I’m very happy. But I wanna make sure the printer works. It has been out for almost two weeks, going to Buffalo, New York and coming back here to Florida to be repaired, and it’s not due ‘til the end of business today. So, I don't have it back yet, but it is on its way. I’ve spoken to their reps by email a few times and they’ve been friendly and very helpful.

SquareTrade offers two types of plans: Standard and Accidental. The first covers mechanical and electrical failures that occur during normal use of the item and the second covers the same issues as well as any physical issues, accidental drops or liquid contact. Your coverage type is determined by the plan purchased along with the item. In this case, the warranty obtained was a Standard Plan and the issue reported was physical damage.

First, the screen was cracked so I called and made a claim to SquareTrade for that. And in between, before it could get down to the repair center, the phone stopped working completely. It would not turn on and it had a smell. SquareTrade wouldn't send me a replacement. They were making me take it down to the repair center to have the people look at it. And the repair center closest to us is about 45 minutes from my home. That's a two hours plus appointment for me that I don't have the time to do. Currently, we are functioning without a phone. I got an extra phone and until I can get down there to have that phone looked at, I'm stuck. So I'm not happy. If this is SquareTrade's new policy, I'm not gonna be going with SquareTrade any longer, and I have so many SquareTrade protection plans.

I've had nothing but positive experiences with ST for a few years, but they've lost my business. My Dell laptop has a keyboard problem. Online determined it is definitely a hardware problem. In the past on previous computers they've given multiple options: send it in, fix in town, etc. Now my only option was to send it in (7-10 business days turnaround)... Furthermore, they stated that they will WIPE THE COMPUTER. My issue is not the backup; no problem. I don't want to spend hours resetting everything up again, downloading everything, re-installing apps, etc, etc. I pleaded with them, to no avail. This is ridiculous! Wipe my keyboard--factory reset--to fix/replace the keyboard???

The piece of equipment stopped working so I filed a claim and their claims process was very convoluted because as soon as I told them that I had a problem, I went back to the store and asked them, “Do you want me to give this item back to you?" They didn't do anything for me. They told me about this warranty location and they said, “The warranty company is the one that you have to go through.”

It was like pulling teeth without Novocain. The gentleman who talked to me was very pleasant. He told me what he could and he could not do. He told me what was the extent of the warranty, and in the end, I still had to go to Fitbit. So, he gave me the Fitbit number. The lady told me what steps to take, and then she sent me an email to say, “Do these steps further.” I told her that it’s not working. So, I called them back. And then eventually, Fitbit listened to what I had to say, and then they sent me the actual watch itself without the band.

I know it was a used one. On the side, when you press to activate it or if you hold it, when they say hold it before it comes on, the actual button that’s on the side is totally different than the one I have. I have the other one and it’s different. So, they said they would send me a replacement, and that was what they sent me. When I had it, the thing told me that my S10 was not compatible with the Charge 3. But since they came up with a software fix for that, I went through the necessary steps, and they worked with me.

I was dissatisfied with the experience. Because it was too many parties involved trying to get something. You’re the one that has the warranty with the item and then you have to go to that location, you have to call, you have to sign in, you have to put this in. I sent everything they asked of me, but that’s still not enough. If you have a broken Fitbit, just let somebody else go through the steps because it was not cut and dried. It was not a seamless process. No, it was not. I’ve threatened after they kept sending emails that I was gonna call the attorney general and the Better Business Bureau because I was not getting any resolution. I didn’t think it was fast enough. I don’t think this was a seamless process. And I don’t understand why a third party was involved.

    Hi Sandra,

We're very sorry you encountered this experience.

SquareTrade is an extension of the manufacturer's warranty that runs concurrent but does not take its place. For mechanical and electrical failures during the first year, we refer these claims to the manufacturer of the item since most of these issues are typically caused by defects or poor workmanship. However, in the event of a denial, SquareTrade can reevaluate the case and see what additional assistance can be provided.

Again we apologize for any inconvenience caused. Upon speaking with you, we're glad to hear this issue has been resolved.

    Thanks,

I've used SquareTrade before so I knew the benefits of it. It was with my son's toy when I first got it at Walmart. When it stopped working, I did a hard reset and it just wouldn't come back on, so I just needed a new item. The process was fairly simple. I went online, and once I was told that it was under warranty, I contacted the warranty company. It was the company that manufactured the item, and it was no longer under warranty so. I called SquareTrade back and they were able to help me. It was just that one phone call. I wasn't sent forward to anyone. I liked their ability to explain the process and how quickly I can get my refund for it. The plan is very valuable. You never know what would happen, whether it's technical or something that you've done.

They’ve gone beyond what most people would do to make sure that I get what I paid for. Submitting a claim hasn't been difficult. The guy from Staples advised getting a protection plan from SquareTrade, and I thought it’s gonna be good. I went to a couple of hikes, and after that the bag came to a condition where it could no longer be useful so I spoke with SquareTrade. First, I had a very bad experience because they didn’t have my protection plan on their system so I spent at least two or three weeks just getting my protection plan enrolled into the website. That one took a lot of time. Whenever I called them, they took forever to lift the phone. But after that, once they got into the system, whenever I log in, I’m then able to see my protection plan. Then the process went smooth and easy so I just gave them my details and what happened with the bag.

I gave some photos and also my phone number to reach out. I missed one or two details. It was some back and forth because this was the first time I’m doing it. They helped me but the first process was really bad in getting into there. I needed to show them my receipt and the credit card details. However, I bought it last year. How can I remember which credit card I used for that? It was tough for me. Luckily, my sister had that receipt with her.

SquareTrade eventually gave me some money. The bag cost around 40 or 45, and they gave us $30. I was expecting a full refund because the protection plan says for $40. I spent $10 for insurance so, I thought I will get a 40. But they just sent $30. And I was like, I wouldn’t bother to ask again. But it was kind of okay because the bag cost only $40, and if I’m paying $9 for the protection plan, I would expect protection for the whole $40. It has been only one year, three months. I should have spoken with them but I know it’s gonna take forever for $10, so it wasn't worth my time.

We apologize for the repair delay and any dissatisfaction with our claims process.
Squaretrade provides repair, replacement, and reimbursement as our resolutions to address consumer claims.
Which are available depends on the item and issue.
These resolutions are detailed within the terms and conditions of our warranty contract.
Square trade, as well as other warranty providers, charges deductibles for the claims made on the account.

Depending on the issue if the phone, the deductible could be much less than the actual repair of the phone.

I kept getting sent back to Walmart, and Walmart was sending me back to SquareTrade. It was hard putting some of the stuff in online and getting it to accept the information. After about two different calls, it just seemed like it was very trying. I also wound up talking to people who never called me back. I was told to get in touch with the manufacturer and that it was still under warranty there. So, ultimately, I wound up with the manufacturer and I’m working with them on the situation now. I didn’t realize it was under warranty for a year with the manufacturer. Still, I probably would never buy another SquareTrade warranty through Walmart.

That is going to take me hours to reinstall programs and also cost me money to have to re-purchase programs that I didn't keep the codes for. He wasn't willing to problem solve with me. He said he has never seen this type of case before where the monitor stops working so it must be a software issue. My monitor turns off if the laptop is moved a little bit, however if it is connected to a TV with an HDMI cable, I can bypass the laptop screen and just use the TV. This seems like a hardware issue to me but he wants me to wipe my computer first before he does any hardware troubleshooting. My brother in law builds computers and said it was a hardware issue however SquareTrade wants to wipe the computer because it is faster for SquareTrade, even though it creates a huge amount of work for me to reload everything.

I called them and said it was not damaged via accident. The guy explained the damage. I said it was like a wear and tear damage and it shouldn’t be broken within a year. Finally, he changed his mind and they covered it. And the customer service was nice. The whole process took 20 minutes. In the past, it was really good filing a claim in. However, warranty companies never explain the benefits and that has caused me some problems in the past when I purchased the warranty and find out later on that the warranty doesn’t cover everything. But I never had a problem with SquareTrade. When you have to make a claim with them, the instructions are so easy that it’s ignorant not to do it if you need to. Replace malfunctioning Galaxy 6s. The interaction with the call center was pleasant and positive. They told me that my claim was verified and that they would send me a shipping label to return the phone. Well, as you can see it's been more than a month and no label. I have waited a month to give it the opportunity to deal with possible postal delays. I suspect that if and when I do get the shipping label, they will find another reason to not honor the claim.

It appears to be a trend in the insurance industry to try to not fulfill their obligations without the customer going through excessive process. They should taken down my information, sent the label and then send a refund. Quick and simple. The perception, right or wrong, seems to lean toward finding a way not to honor a claim. Needless to say, this does not bode well for my recommending Square Trade to anyone. Let's see where it goes from here. It is in your hands to turn this into a positive experience. Sincerely, Terry

They work around every angle to try not to fix your product or refund you when the product malfunction. Waste of money. If I had to pick another insurance company I will go with Asurion. And just for the heads up if you purchase an item through eBay most likely the manufacturer will not fix it. They gave me the run-around for 4 months! I ended up throwing the item away and purchasing a new one with no insurance through SquareTrade.

    Hello Nathalie,

SquareTrade aims to provide hassle-free services to our customers.

Most manufacturers cover their products up to one year after it's purchase. The SquareTrade Protection Plan is purchased to run as the manufacturer's back up to ensure there are no gaps in coverage.

When we refer our customers to their manufacturer an email is sent which provides the next steps in case the manufacturer is not able to provide assistance.

In the future, if your manufacturer can not assist, please reach back out to us by email or phone and we would be happy to close that gap in coverage.

    Thanks,

I had a spill of cleaning solution in my MacBook Pro. It worked for a while. 7 months later the battery died and it was no longer covered. Warranty expired 30 days ago. When I took it in to an Apple authorized retailer and repair shop to have the battery replaced. They opened it and found liquid as well as corrosive damage and battery swollen. The smell of the cleaning liquid never went away, it was there when it was opened. The repair would be almost as much as a new machine. Lesson learned. They may say they fixed it but apparently they did not. Keep in mind there was no extra spills or anything that would have caused this issue besides the initial spill. I will never use another Square Trade warranty for anything. You get what you pay for.

We got this telecopier from Staples and the manager there suggested that we get the SquareTrade insurance. It sounded like a good plan, so we did that. Getting the insurance worked out in our favor because the machine did not work well. We didn't have to bring the machine back, and they told us that we didn’t have to pack it. They put a technician on, and they did the troubleshooting, which took about an hour. They did the troubleshooting to see if they could fix it remotely, which I couldn’t. And I understand that so an hour of our time was not ill spent. Because when it came down to it, Rodney worked everything through. We got a check in the mail, and we were able to use that to buy another one.

I’m so pleased with how it was handled. I’m pleased with buying it, originally, and how it worked out. Of all the things that sometimes didn’t work out, this one I was very pleased that it did work out. I have purchased some things from Sam’s, and also got the SquareTrade there too. This company is well attuned to make me a continued believer. I hope other people take advantage of it.

I sorted that and then they said that I'll get the cost of the phone back. I said okay. Since I don't have an option for check, I got the gift card emailed to me and then I went back to Target and got another phone for my dad. The best part overall was when I was doing that chat thing. My phone's battery doesn't hold a charge. I'm charging it up a lot, but before I go anywhere, I make sure it's fully charged. But then, my screen freezes up. I called Motorola because it was still under factory warranty and they didn't wanna really do nothing but just wanted me to put out money for something that I shouldn't have to. I tried to take it to the place that I purchased the phone at and they wanted me to take and put money down, a $75 security, and then they wanted me to pay $25 to ship it. That's not why I got insurance through Motorola.

I don't have time to fiddle around with any money or anything as far as what Motorola wanted to do and SquareTrade has been great with taking over my insurance claim with my phone. I spoke with a gentleman from their organization and he took over my account as far as getting me a new phone and getting that taken care of, which I haven't received any checks or anything for what he imagined on me getting a new phone purchase because I use my phone almost 100% for my medical issues. My phone is a lifeline for me. Also, I go to a doctor. I have a doctor's appointment at least one or two every week. I couldn't afford to be down a phone because they wanted me to take and send my phone in to have it looked at and that would take five days.

I called last month on the 27th, and also called last week to find out about what was going on with the check and they said everything went through. Everything was approved and blah, blah, blah. I said okay. I just don't know why there has been a delay with the checks that I was supposed to receive. He said that it would take seven to nine days. I haven't done anything yet because I'm unable to, and I can't take my phone to have it fixed or see why it's acting up because I receive phone calls every day. I'm grateful that I'm still able to use it but I'm not a satisfied customer right now.

We went and FedExed the store as they have told us. FedEx took care of us, and we didn't have to do anything. SquareTrade was in constant communication with us as far as like when they received it, when they were done, when it was sent off and when it got here when it was delivered. When I talked to the guy about it, he said, “Well, that’s just gonna happen.” I wasn’t happy with the answer, so I called SquareTrade. However, it happened to be right around the end of my warranty. By the time the phone was repaired and into the next week, my warranty was no longer valid. So now, it’s the warranty with the vendor that I took the phone to. But since I didn’t really wanna work with them since they pretty much told me about then, I gave SquareTrade a call. I bought an Apple Watch about a year ago as a gift and while purchasing the item I bought a protection plan with it. I made sure to ask that it would be covered in the event of an accident no matter what and was assured multiple time that it would be. So three days ago after the watch had an accident I called to make a claim and was denied instantly. While talking to many people for over two hours I was told a few different reasons for this, like I didn’t have the right plan or they don’t offer accidental coverage on the item. I asked to speak to a manager and was told they would contact me within 2-3 hours, well next day I call again and was told this time as soon as they came in they would contact me. I haven’t heard from them going on over 24 hours. I would highly recommend NEVER buying a plan from them, just feel completely take advantage of.

I have spent 10 hours on the phone with SquareTrade numerous times, with Costco, researching emails, scanning credit card and Costco receipts, etc. Just to show proof of purchase and they are running out the clock, as my warranty expires in a few weeks! I bought the warranty on a different day than the product and they won't accept it. Just do a Google search on them, see BBB, class actions, etc, they have a pattern of doing this! I'm so disappointed, out money and a broken product. I wish Costco would partner with another warranty company, one which is honest, credible and treats Costco customers with respect like Costco. I love Costco, been a member for decades, but don't recommend SquareTrade warranties.

    Hi Aidan,

I can definitely understand how you could be frustrated with this resolution. Based on what you have stated it appears you had issues with the device straight out of the box. This would be considered a pre-existing condition and is not covered by most warranties. Many resellers have a return time period in which they will be responsible for certain issues you have with a device. It sounds like that may be what happened in this case, and since you were still within the resellers coverage period you are ineligible to file any claims. Let me take a deeper look at your claim and see if there is anything I can do to assist you. I will follow up with you shortly.

SquareTrade is gonna send me an email to tell me how to do all that stuff to get it all done, but I never did get an email on it. I’m not very satisfied with the way they're handling it. You have to mail the phone in and I’d never mess with that little $20 warranty again. You have to mail the phone in, then you have to wait for the coupon to come back so you can buy a phone or you have to wait for another phone to come in, especially when you’re an old person and you don't have any other means of communication. She can’t do without a phone for four or five days, so I’m really not happy with this warranty. She has to have a phone right away. She’s 85 years old. She’s gotta have a telephone. I would never buy another warranty. I would just go ahead and buy the phone outright.

'Cause a lot of times one gets their phone fixed and then the phone doesn't work. I know certain people had their phone fixed when they were cracked, and they had worse problems. She finally understood what I wanted to do and she talked to her supervisor. She was nice and really tried to help me. When she finally agreed and said, “Okay,” she told me to send her my phone. She was gonna send me a label but I never got that.

I got the warranty from SquareTrade for my phone through Walmart. I accidentally dropped the phone and broke the screen. I've spoken with SquareTrade several times over the course of a month regarding the phone. I’ve spoken with several different people, and I had experienced a couple of reps that I felt were exceptionally nice and patient. But I had a couple bad experiences from one individual. I was transferred to this person after I gave all my information to a rep. He misunderstood something that I stated to him, and I told him that it was not what I said. And then he said, “Ma’am, you got to get your act together quicker.”

I’ve been going through some changes just trying to get the claim totally processed. For instance, before September 30th, I was instructed that in order to get compensated that I was gonna get a shipping label through email, which I received, and I needed to ship the phone back. On September the 30th, I made an attempt to do that at a local Walgreens store that has the FedEx inside. And somehow, the phone was lost. FedEx said they didn't have it. The sales representative also said they didn't have it.

I spoke with the store manager of that Walgreens yesterday. And today, she called me to let me know that she did see on her surveillance camera me making a transaction with that phone, and that there she could see where their cashier scanned the shipping label and deposit it wherever she was supposed to deposit it. And then the FedEx person picked it up. And so, who knows where it’s at now? Because I never received the tracking number.

Right now, I wouldn't recommend SquareTrade. I was on the phone with them yesterday and I talked to four separate reps trying to figure out what happened to the phone at that time. None of us knew what happened from the time I dropped the phone off at Walgreens and after that. And I had to be the one to figure out what needed to be done and to try to figure out what happened to the phone. But I don’t even feel like I got help through SquareTrade. One sales rep told me she had a tracking number, which I wrote down, and had me call FedEx back. But FedEx told me that the number is not in their system. So, it’s just been a dumb mess.

And then I called and spoke to the gentleman on the phone, and he gave the purchase receipt from Amazon a stamp of approval. He asked if I wanna get it fixed at a certain place. He said they could find me a place, but if we have a place, it should be a licensed repair facility.

I found a licensed repair facility, and found out ahead of time that they do replace hard drives. They were closer, so we didn’t have to wait on a snail mail thing back-and-forth. So that was good. After it was diagnosed, the hard drive was replaced and everything seems to be going fine as of this point. I uploaded the receipt right away and SquareTrade paid promptly. It was a smooth transaction.

The claim was handled properly, and we’re satisfied. It broke through the barrier because of the expediency and the cordiality of their folks were very kind. It made the process go quicker. I appreciate the option of being able to pick my own facility and avoiding the snail mail sorta thing with the shipping going back-and-forth, especially when I got repair facilities almost right in our backdoor.

I purchased the SquareTrade protection plan from Target when I bought an Apple iPad for my son for Christmas. After 3 weeks, the iPad had a cracked screen and I filed a claim with SquareTrade. The iPad was sent back to me with a fixed screen but it no longer held a charge. After sending the iPad back 2 more times to be fixed by SquareTrade it still will not charge and I was told today that my protection plan is now expired and there is nothing that can be done for me. The brand new iPad is now worthless. I would have been better off taking it down the street to have the screen replaced by a local store and paying out of pocket. Extremely dissatisfied with this company. I am looking for another way to report them in addition to this review so that no one else has the same issue.

I purchased the SquareTrade warranty on Amazon when I purchased an item. I've also gotten several items from Sam’s Club and at Walmart, and that was the extended warranty that was offered. So far, when I'm under the impression that I had to go through SquareTrade, everything seemed to be really easy. You just go online and walk right through the steps, and then they send you an e-mail. I've called them and they sent me an e-mail link and it took me right to where I needed to go. It was very simple so I like that option. You just upload photos and receipts where it says. It’s very simple. My parents can even do it. SquareTrade even had the 1-800 number that I needed to call the manufacturer directly, so they were really helpful.

I purchased a 4 year protection plan for a product I bought on Amazon. This item became defective in about 8 months. I attempted to make a claim for a replacement through SquareTrade and was met with an error. I then contacted them through their online customer support chat. After giving them my explanation on what was happening, I was told that they don't offer replacements on the warranty within the first year because the manufacturer warranty was still in effect.

So, to reiterate, I paid for a 4 year protection plan, they refused to honor that since my warranty on the product was still under the manufacturer's warranty. After asking the representative (who also can read your messages as you type them. Person was responding with a paragraph within 3-4 seconds of my response) about the policy, s/he confirmed that SquareTrade will not cover anyone within the manufacturer's warranty time period unless the manufacturer denies the claim. Then, they will make their own decisions on whether they will cover the claim after that.

I asked that, since their protection plan doesn't technically start until after the first year, would I be getting a full four year coverage (five years in total after the date of purchase) with their plan? Answer was no. I ended up contacting Amazon and they helped me out within about 15 minutes. I recommend anyone steer clear of this company. The nonsense I had to go through just to get an answer that I wouldn't be covered and that SquareTrade couldn't do anything about the coverage that I purchased was not worth the time. I expect this type of customer service and the way they do business is typical for other products that they're supposed to "protect".

I was picking up an item that I wasn’t familiar with and from a seller that I didn't know so I might as well make sure I was safe. You don’t know how long electronics are gonna last and what’s gonna happen to them. It was 4 bucks, which wasn't very much, but it's as valuable as the item that you’re buying.

The smartwatch developed a white line through the middle of the screen and you couldn't see most of the stuff, which really made it pointless to have. During the claims process, I used the chat line. I also sent an email telling them what issue I was having. The rep said to submit a claim. Next thing I know, I get an email back saying that it has been approved and that they were sending me a check. I said, “Oh, that’s beautiful.” They were responsive and took care of the issue I had. They just said, "Go ahead and pick out another one." The experience is giving them great advertisement with people I know who buy stuff out of eBay. I've told people to go and get a warranty. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Squaretrade provides repair, replacement, and reimbursement as our claim resolutions. Which resolution the product qualifies for depends on numerous factors, including the item category and issue it is experiencing.

Each warranty also includes a limit of liability, which is equal to the item's purchasing price.

In this case, when the claim was filed, the replacement option was selected. However, when SquareTrade was unable to source an exact replacement or model that was comparable to your current item, we moved the claim to the next resolution, which is reimbursement.

Squaretrade plans are in place to make sure that you have a functional item. Although we were unable to locate an exact replacement, we wanted to make sure you had an alternative resolution by providing you a reimbursement.

The agent was very nice. But when I told them about the plan I was given they began to be rude to me and provoked me to become angry, and the explanation about my coverage plan was the way how they wanted it. My son's headset fell from his head on the table and right ear plastic part broke completely. You can see cables and the over the head part and ear part are unattached completely. When I called to file a claim they told me that this is accidental damage and cannot be covered. What my plan doesn't cover is intentional damage. We didn't break it and didn't cause the damage. The Square Trade doesn't want people to reimburse for poor quality products and make their coverage explanation the way how they need it. My son was listening to the entire conversation and had the same thought that I do.

The other thing is that when we bought that product there was no explanation about the plan and that it doesn't cover what happened to us. We had no issue with any product purchased from Walmart with different protection plans until we got the same name damage protection plan from square trade this time and found out that it covers nothing. They told us that they can return us $3 that we paid for the three-year plan. It was the worst experience that I had with the protection plan and with square trade for the past many years.

We're sorry we were unable to honor the recent claim.

Squaretrade offers two types of warranties Standard and Accidental Protection plans, each of which provides different degrees of coverage.

The policy covering the headphones is a Standard plan, which protects against hardware and electrical failures due to normal usage.

Unfortunately, this plan does not cover physical damage; this is why we were unable to approve your claim.

Squaretrade provides customers access to their warranties at any time via our website or mobile app. which provides details regarding your policy coverage.

We have reviewed your account, and we have determined that as a one-time exception. We will provide a refund for the cost of the headphones via check though this is an exception to the standard process.

But if the manufacturer decides that they won't honor their warranty...an interpretation between the fox and the hen...then I'm probably outta luck cause the manufacturer is the final referee. So in effect, they will sell me a warranty with a huge probability that I could never have a claim thru SquareTrade. I get nothin' for my money. The better answer of course would be that Square Trade begins their coverage once the manufacturer warranty ends. That is fair. To charge for warranty coverage that is practically useless, not fair. I purchased a tv with a Costco SquareTrade warranty in August 2017 and the tv started having issues in August 2019. I submitted a claim online and provided pictures of the problem (a vertical white line in the middle of the screen). They initially denied the claim multiple times first citing burn in and then citing intentional damage. My tv does not have burn in, nor was it intentionally damaged. I had to escalate to Twitter to even get them to send a service tech out to analyze the problem. The tech wasn't even in my house for 30 seconds before confirming that I had a bad panel, no burn in and no intentional damage. My claim was finally approved. Yay! Or so I thought. They then offered me options for a replacement.

I told them repeatedly over email and twitter that my warranty specifically states that I can select a replacement tv at MY option, not their option. They disagreed that I am allowed to request a check for the cost of the tv and that I must select a replacement. I gave them many opportunities to make this right, but they have failed to abide by the black and white terms & conditions of my warranty. I always read reviews of bad experiences with various companies, and my initial reaction is to think that kind of stuff would never happen to me. Well, it finally did happen to me. I will NEVER purchase another warranty from SquareTrade and strongly advise whoever is reading this to stay as far away from this awful company as possible. We're sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with our services.

Square Trade provides repair, replacement, and reimbursement as our resolutions to address consumer claims. Which resolutions are available depends on the item and issue.

The resolutions are detailed within the terms and conditions of our warranty contract.

We do our best to accommodate consumer requests. However, these resolutions are ultimately determined per our discretion.

We determined, in this case, a replacement resolution was the best option as we could locate a brand new and comparable model or better than the original product.

We also utilize authorized purchasing and shipping resources for the delivery of this product to prevent concerns with delivery.

Being that we have provided a replacement resolution option and can source the TV, we have met our obligations beneath this warranty.

We have used SquareTrade for years. A year ago we purchased new cellphones and kept our warranties with SquareTrade as we had done numerous times in the past. Everything was fine until my husband got a new debit card. I gave new information as requested but received a notice that my warranty was cancelled. Looked at my bank account and the money was deducted. Looking at the SquareTrade charges I realized they had been double charging me for 10 months. Not realizing because I expect to see the SquareTrade charges and they were identical.

I called them and they told me it was because they were for my old phone. I said that was taken care of in store and the account was switched to the new phone. They say no. I even have a record of them crediting me for the warranty left on the old phone. Then the new charges being taken. Oh well I need to take it up with the store. They have no record of a cancellation. Better yet they cancelled the plan for the phone we actually have but kept the plan for a phone we don’t own. 30 minutes of run around and snide remarks from this man. He told us we would get a call from a customer service manager. No call.

Too bad we are out the double payments for the past 10 months. I never expected this from them as the company had been great in the past. The take none of the blame even though they were informed of the switch to a new phone. They told us we have to have the store we went through contact them. They would prefer bad reviews for their poor customer service. The man wasn’t nice at all and his remarks were downright rude. Don’t use this company. Stay away. I filed a claim for a pair of Beats headphones and was immediately directed to Apple. When Apple informed me they were out of warranty, I contacted SquareTrade AGAIN. The only issue was a replacement for a cable that was broken. After a month and 5 calls later they finally approved the claim, but have told me that I no longer have any coverage for the Beats. This is not what my understanding was when I purchased the warranty and will not purchase from SquareTrade again.

When it became clear that it was a hardware issue, they provided me with a claim and referred me to a Battery Plus/Fix-It shop for repair. So far, so good. The people at Battery Plus, however, were not knowledgeable, not helpful, and certainly not professional. They declined to fix the phone despite clear evidence that it was a hardware issue. They told me to go to the Apple Genius Bar. I told them that we already had, that Apple had confirmed it's hardware. They still continued to insist it's software. After being treated like an idiot, I left. It now remains to get a referral to someplace with employees who give a damn.

Squaretrade provides repair, replacement or reimbursement as our resolution options, of which are detailed within the terms and conditions of the warranty.

I have no problems with SDobs. She was wonderful and more. The review I gave was based on the higher management. After SDobs talked to the higher management, it was decided that my daughter could get a replacement tablet. That night I was sent an email saying everything was approved for a tablet. Then less than 2 hours I was sent another email saying they could not find a replacement tablet. It would have been nice if upper management would have waited a few days before they decided this. Another replacement could have came in within a few days, but instead I get an email that same night saying they did not have a replacement.

Did upper management or whoever was supposed to check on the replacement tablet really look to see if there was another tablet? And how could someone check that same night and make a decision? Upper management could have waited to see if one would come in a few days instead of making the decision that night. This don't sound right, but yall want good reviews... I don't think so. Yall had my daughter thinking she was going to get a replacement tablet and she was happy and excited and then after I read the email I had to go back and tell her that she wouldn't be getting it. I would never have SquareTrade again for nothing.

I purchased a 32" Samsung TV through Sam's Club in January 2018 and a 2-year warranty through SquareTrade. 2 days ago the screen on the TV started to have vertical line throughout the whole screen. We waited one more day and then contacted the SquareTrade Inc. company. They told us to take 3 pictures of the screen as well as a picture of our receipt. 2 days after sending the pictures, they denied our claim stating that we physically damaged the TV. There is no physical damage to the screen. How can an experienced technician determine from three small pictures, what the real problem is? Moreover, the manager denied to connect us to the TV department when we requested. She quickly tried to refund the warranty money, so they are not responsible for anything anymore.

This is the worst service I have ever experienced. They are not located in the United States, so it would be very hard for them to see the actual TV. This company is just making money off of honest people. I have already contacted Sam's Club and they noted the problem. Please read their claim, before you purchase it. We would not be pushing this complaint if there was any physical damage to the screen. I also read the reviews on Amazon and wasn't happy what I read.

The process to start the claim was fairly easy, though in my case I could not start the claim online, I had to call and speak with a rep. The reps were polite and professional every time I called, assuring me they would take care of it. The 2nd to last time I spoke with a rep was to be sent the instructions to troubleshoot, before sending in for repair (I had a bad charging port and the phone would not charge using a cable), was to factory reset the phone. I did so, but still would not charge. On the last call, explaining that factory reset made no difference, the phone claim was approved. Arrangements were made to send the phone using a label provided by SquareTrade - easy.

Looks like my digitizer was replaced along with the charging port, though it was not broken when sent to them. Also something was mentioned about the case back, but not sure what, it was same as the one sent. The phone has been in an Otterbox case since the moment it arrived to me new, so nothing should have been wrong with phone cosmetics. In any event, another complaint I had was that the phone did not hold a proper charge, as it had, and I felt the battery should have been replaced. I indicated this throughout the complaint process, but the phone came back with the old battery.

Overall, I was pretty satisfied at the repair and process, with one exception and it's not a huge deal. While on the phone with the rep the final time, I was told that I would be shipped a new device overnight, which was great, then let down several minutes after that to find out that was not the case, and the phone would have to be repaired. Thanks SquareTrade, I would use you again.

I called and they walked me through some steps to reset to factory settings. They outsource technicians from other countries to handle their calls and at times are difficult to understand. They instructed me to reset again if the problem continued, "band aid fix". The problem has persisted. I called again. On hold for 30 minutes. They then transferred me to another extension for another 30 minutes. They want me to reset again. I have informed them that I have done this 3 times. Now they said, they would send me an email with further instructions. I have wasted hours with these folks. I do not recommend this insurance, big consumer scam. If this problem does not get resolved I will file a formal complaint with the State Attorney General's Office in the next few days.

Advertise same day fix but waiting game on claims status and fix. Very frustrating. I have always used SquareTrade when purchasing my phones or electronics and usually they are very good. I usually have gotten the plan that doesn't cover drops and spills and they have usually been really good about it even though their customer service has been a little frustrating more lately. But usually they would do my claim in one day and either send me a new phone or got it fixed somehow fast.

But now I decided to get the phone protection plan that does include drops and spills since phones are getting more and more expensive and I can't guarantee how well my kids will watch their phones. Coverage says it starts on day one, well of all people, I dropped my phone 3 days later. I didn't get a cracked screen but it did hit pretty good on one side that I got a green flashing light towards bottom that the screen would flicker or turn green. I filed claim immediately.

In selecting the option I had, send it to them to repair, go to one of their retail stores for same day fix or go to my own, I select to utilize the same day retail store to take care of asap since it take only 1 to 2 hours to repair other than sending it off for 3 days. Well, claim was filed on a Wednesday and they took my deductible of $149. I thought great, I can get this done. Nope, I got a notice I would hear about my claim in 2 days (2 days with a phone that the bottom have turns green. I tried to call to get it taken care of earlier and was told it is out of their hand and I had to wait those two days. I did not get my response till Friday late night that claim was approved (3 days).

So, no frustrated claim took so long to approve but excited that I can finally take care of the issue, I go over to the location and they tell me that they have to order the screen which will be another 2 to 3 days. I tried to resolve and called to see if SquareTrade can get me in with another retailer who had it in stock for their advertising of "In home" or "Same day" retailers, but they ended up filing another claim that restarted everything. Well, I called all their same day retailers and NONE of them have a screen in stock. How is this same day? I already waited 3 1/2 days and now we are on a Saturday trying to fix a phone with no one having anything in stock. The ones that did have it in stock, I would have pay out of pocket and they would have to reimburse me that would take 5-7 business days, I was told and they had already took my deductible that would take a couple of days for them to reimburse that.

So, finally I got a rep that was willing to help and offered me a lot more choices but still not fixed today. All had a resolution of fixing in by Tuesday of next week. Almost 7 days of resolution from the time I filed claim. There is no same day fix or speedy repairs. Luckily my phone was half working and minimized green screen but I couldn't see my keyboard to text or call. Imagine if I had nothing at all and we are here 4 days later and no phone. Really frustrating when they advertise one thing and say I know how frustrating it could be without your phone but you are still having to be without it with this protection for days.

There needs to be loner phones or retailers that actually do have the supplies on hand to fix your phone. Or better yet, call the retailer to order the part when they are reviewing the claim so when 2 days later that they approve, it is already at the retailers for same day repair. UGH! Sad to say, I am looking at another plan that will protect our phone and be considerate that we need our phones fixed asap.

I purchased a brand new factory sealed iPhone 6s Plus from an eBay seller and SquareTrade offered warranty coverage on it so I bought that too. After just a few months, the speaker went out and I tried to file an online claim. It would not let me because it said the manufacturer would have to cover it. I got a letter from Apple saying they would not fix it because it was out of warranty. I sent the letter to SquareTrade as instructed. After numerous emails and attempts to contact someone by phone (and on hold for an hour or more) I emailed them again. A week later they responded with an email saying I needed to call them or use the chat function on their website.

I finally got someone on the phone who said that I needed to file a claim. I said I already did but they said they closed it because I had to go to Apple. I told them I already did and Apple said no. Next, the person (not in the U.S.) said I had to send my receipt for the phone by email. I told them I already had and he said he couldn't open it and I had to do it again so I did while we were talking. He said I would have to call back because it takes twenty minutes for him to get the email. He said once the claim was filed I would receive instructions on how to fix the phone myself through a series of steps. I told him no, Apple diagnosed it and said only an experienced tech could replace the microphone!

He said then Square Trade would tell me how to send them my phone to their repair center (in God only knows what country). I told him NO, my phone had confidential information on it and I needed my phone for business and to just pay Apple to fix it at the Genius Bar in my local mall. He said I would have to wait to see what my instructions were. After all that time talking, he still had not received my email and said for me to hang up and call back another time and start the new claim process all over again. I think SquareTrade is a scam and they make it as difficult as possible for you to get satisfaction so that you give up and pay for the repair yourself. Guess again, SquareTrade. My attorney lives right next door and a lawsuit for insurance fraud is going to cost you more in court than the lousy $149 at the Apple store to fix my phone would cost you.

If someone pays for your service, you should HONOR it regardless of timeframe! I purchased this warranty, did not realize it could not be used within 30 days. I tried to file a claim and was advised to contact the manufacturer. I did that...did not get in touch with anyone. I bought the item in April, here it is September and I still have not been able to get in touch with the manufacturer and you guys wouldn't help me!? What kind of * is that!? Issues started happening in April when I purchased the item, I wait 5 months after purchase date because I am trying to contact the manufacturer, therefore the issue shouldn't have been counted as being within the 30 day timeframe that you guys don't cover! If you guys aren't going to cover then why even offer it?! I will never use you guys again and I will make sure all my friends and family cancel their warranties with y'all.

**I purchased the plan for my vape mods I ordered for my husband and myself. Within 30 days, the items stopped working. Well I tried to contact SquareTrade within 30 days after purchasing and they said to contact the manufacturer, which is Kangertech. I tried to contact them via phone, email, social media, etc. and have STILL not received a response or callback to this day! That was April 21st! Here it is September 12th, still nothing!

I tried to contact Kangertech again today before I contacted SquareTrade to see what could be done since the manufacturer is non-responsive. I received a very rude man by the name of Ryan. He was a smart * and was not helpful at all. He asked me if I wanted him to share the "TOS" with me and I told him no because I was at work and did not have time for it. He sent it to me anyway. He informed me that nothing could or would be done because the issue started within the first 30 days. So...why does that matter?

I am contacting you 5 months AFTER the issues started...therefore it is technically PAST that 30 days. Anyways, he proceeded to tell me nothing will be done because eBay has a 30 day money back guarantee. I knew of this, however I did not think it adhered to 3rd party sold items which is what this is, it is not an eBay item! Anyways, he still refuses to help any further and started becoming more and more of a jerk. I requested a refund of ALL open accounts that I have. This is ridiculous and is a HORRIBLE warranty company. From now on, I will just do without a warranty. If it breaks after the manufacturer warranty expires then so be it. I will do whatever I have to do in order to not have to deal with this ridiculous company again. They should not be in business and I feel eBay needs to part ways with them - they are causing more harm than good!

In 2017, I bought a new Canon Printer from Amazon. At the time, it was deeply discounted & I recognized it was a bargain. With this purchase, I also purchased the Square Trade warranty. Yesterday, the printer failed. I called Square Trade and after explaining the failure, they offered me a replacement or a cash settlement. The cash settlement was less than the price I paid. I asked the rep why it wasn’t for the full amount and was told that this was the replacement cost. I accepted the cash. After hanging up, I went online to look for a replacement and found that the amount I was offered was significantly less than the price to replace the printer. I called Square Trade back and explained it to the agent, Thomas, and that now, I wanted to take the replacement option instead.

He spoke to his supervisor and when he returned to the call, I was told that they could not reverse the transaction because it was already in process. I said I was told the amount I was offered was based on a replacement. The least that should happen is that I should have been offered the full purchase price. He went back to his supervisor and said that he was told it was too late to add to the cash offer because it was already in process.

This morning, I decided to call Square Trade again. When I explained it to Hassan, he went to his supervisor. When he returned to the call, his supervisor said that they would increase the cash offer to the price I paid. I said that I was pleased because, unlike yesterday’s experience, that supervisor was unwilling to do even that. However, I explained to Hassan that given what I was initially told yesterday, I accepted the cash offer because they said that’s what a replacement would cost. Yesterday, the supervisor refuse to pay the full purchase price. Why did I have to make another call to get at least that?

The bottom line is that when I bought the printer, I bought it at a great price from Amazon. When the Square Trade agent said that their offer was based on the cost of the replacement, I accepted it. However, they misrepresented that fact when it was offered. When I discovered this and challenged them about it, the supervisor should have stood behind their pledge of 100% Customer Satisfaction. This time, they fell short….

SquareTrade didn't give me any trouble. They sent me a new phone and I sent my broken phone back to them so it was a really good gig. It was really easy. I just have to pay out of pocket to get a new one. I have a lot more questions and I thought I'd get a call from one of them. I also never got anything back stating whether they received my phone or not. But I'm really happy with everything the way it went. I would recommend them.

I’m glad that I got the warranty because SquareTrade did pay for the phone and I did get the check the other day. However, I didn't like the idea that I paid for a two-year warranty, and now, the warranty is no good. If I get another phone, I’d have to buy another warranty. I thought if I get another phone, I’ll go to Wal-Mart and get the same phone, and I’d still have the warranty. They didn't even pay the tax on the thing. I paid 149, plus tax, plus the warranty on it. I asked, “Will you repair the screen?” When they looked it up, they said, “No, it’s not worth it.” I was hoping that I could’ve kept the phone ‘cause I like it.

It’s a done deal now but I don't think I’ll get another warranty. I’m using my old phone right now. I didn't get another phone ‘cause I’m retired living on 700 and some dollars a month, and it isn’t easy. The warranty is too complicated for me. I live by myself and I’m not computer-savvy. It was pretty hard for me because I couldn't download the thing ‘cause I don't have a computer. They also had to send me a thing to send it back with FedEx and it took a long time to do that. I just thought I could take it to Wal-Mart 'cause I bought it off of Wal-Mart. They said no and they gave me a pamphlet. They never gave me a pamphlet when I bought it. I also couldn’t find the darn receipt. I had to go to Wal-Mart and they gave me a copy of it.

While the agents were polite, this took FAR more time than necessary to try and resolve. I dropped my laptop and it caught fire about 2 years after purchase, and well within the 3 year warranty I had bought. And they kept going back and forth on the serial number (which I had provided them post drop and burn, and which they did not have before). I sent them pictures. I sent them emails. I spoke on the phone with them. They said they called back and left messages. They might have called back, as I had 2 missed calls from unknown numbers, but no messages. It seems impossible to sort out this. At this stage, if they cannot resolve, my options are to either sue or elevate to the District Attorneys office in my state for insurance fraud. What a waste of my time. AVOID this company at all costs.

The cost of the repair locally is the same price as the deductible that SquareTrade is charging. Very inconvenient to be without a phone for days and not save any money with the plan. This might be okay for a new phone but once the initial pricing on a repair drops, the screen replacement is no longer a good option.

It's cost-effective to have insurance on things. At Staples, we were given a little folder for SquareTrade and the rep told us to go online if we wanted to purchase it, so that's what I did. The website was pretty easy to use for me. Our office chair gave out and I made the wrong choice with my claim with SquareTrade. I told them that I wanted the Staples store credit so we could get another one. But it's about 110-mile round trip to a Staple store and we haven't been able to make it there.

One of the options that SquareTrade said they could have done was to find us a similar product and, I would assume, have it shipped to us. Now I'm wishing that I have just gone with that because we're several weeks out and we're sitting on our replacement chair. Next time, I'll know that's gonna be one of the options if I ever have to use it again. It was a good experience when I spoke to them. My son pays gets an insurance any time it's offered. He said he would never do without it. I spoke to them over a month ago and it was a good. Overall, my experience with SquareTrade encouraged me to get this kind of insurance in the future.

It took almost an hour on the phone back and forth with several different people. But in the end, it all worked out, and SquareTrade approved my claim and fixed my computer. I was satisfied. They did a really good job. Having an extended warranty is valuable, ‘cause I have an older computer and they fixed it for free. Updating to 3 stars since in the end SquareTrade is providing a reimbursement of the watch because they couldn't repair it (said nothing was wrong although Garmin support said otherwise) and had no replacement option. Ultimately, the resolution is acceptable although it required escalating the issue through consumer assistance services because calling SquareTrade was no help and they were not offering anything other a 2nd repair attempt.

    Original Review: Sept. 4, 2019

This company has horrible practices. I got this to cover a Garmin watch. When I no longer had manufacturer warranty the watch started having issues. I did all the troubleshooting with Garmin and they determined the watch needs to be replaced. I initiated SquareTrade claim. They had me ship them the watch then a week later they sent it back saying there is no issue. So now they know more than the manufacturer. I filed a complaint and their solution was for me to take the watch to a local repair center but the closest Garmin authorized service center is 3 states away. So when I declined that option, SquareTrade simply cancelled the policy and refunded whatever it cost. Must be nice business model. Sell policies, reject or fail to provide resolution as much as possible then when customers complain just cancel their policy and give them a small refund but hope that majority won't file or complain and pocket the money.

Last thanksgiving, I purchased a pair of Bose Soundsport headphones from Target. The salesperson asked if I was interested in purchasing the additional warranty coverage from SquareTrade, and clarified that it would cover situations not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, such as damage due to moisture (my main concern since I use these headphones for running in all weather). I bought the warranty that I thought would ensure this coverage.

My headphones were damaged this weekend as a result of proximity to a pot of water giving off steam. When I tried to file a claim online, I was told that I needed to go through the manufacturer and could follow up with SquareTrade via telephone, if my case was not resolved. I called SquareTrade to discuss replacement or repair and was told by their representative that the warranty I purchased did NOT cover moisture damage and that the best she could do was refund me the cost of the warranty. I am beyond frustrated. I’ve never spent so much money on headphones before, and it’s just been so much wasted.

I have a lot of products on warranty with them, but the stuff I have has always been covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. Still, I keep them because it’s offered to us when we purchase and I'd pay a dollar a month more than what I would if I was to purchase something outright. I have SquareTrade warranty for a laptop and for a phone. The phone I purchased directly through SquareTrade. The laptop had a plan with it through a store. I set up the service online, and it was pretty simple. Doing the claims is also relatively easy to do. My laptop must’ve fell at one point. Somebody might’ve accidentally knocked it over and the screen slightly cracked. It started being a little glitchy after it. So, I figured since I have the plan, I’ll take care of it.

They updated me fairly regularly and quickly too, other than the fact that I just printed out the claim. It was more lagging on my end because I have had problems with my printer that had nothing to do with SquareTrade itself. My printer was being really weird and that was the only thing that really held me back. But they’ve been understanding. They said “We understand you’ve been having problems on your end. We’ll wait until you can mail it to us.” I’m gonna be shipping the item within the day.

It takes three to five days to come back if it’s something easy. But if it is complex but easy, they’ll tell me. And then if it comes early, they’ll let me know. The warranty is really good, especially when these guys wanted to help out. I’ve gone through other companies, and other companies don’t wanna make sure that everyone, them and the people that they’re giving the plans, are satisfied. But SquareTrade seems to want everyone to be happy.

I work for the state of Ohio which uses a program called Purchasing Power. Through that program, you can add warranty on certain products so that’s what I did. I bought an Xbox 360 at Christmas time which got damaged. The HDMI port was messed up so I did a claim online and sent it in. SquareTrade sent it back telling me that it was fixed, but when I went to plug it up and use it, I was still having the exact same issue. They asked me if I tried to go on different TVs and if I changed the HDMI cord, which I did. I have five or six different HDMI cords ‘cause I have other game systems in the house. I tried them on all the smart TVs and it just didn’t work. They told me that there was nothing they could do.

I ended up having to ask for a manager who then told me to go send it back. And if they didn’t get it fixed that time, they would send me a check so I could buy another one. But because of my work schedule, I don’t have time to keep running to FedEx every time they can’t get it correct. So, I haven’t been able to take it back.

If I have insurance on something, I shouldn’t have to send it back three times and for them to keep telling me that it’s fixed when it’s not working. I know how to work my TV and a video game system. Everybody in the house has them. So, the second time they sent it back, they should’ve just offered to send me a check so I could buy a whole new game system. I’ve been dealing with this since March. I have had claims before and this is the first time this happened. I don’t know if that’s because it’s a gaming system but I’ve never ever had this hard time trying to get something either fixed or reimburse it so I could go get another one.

Filing a claim with SquareTrade for a printer was very difficult for me. I had to go to the library and fax something over. And then, the guy that told me I had to fax it didn't tell me what information I had to put on it. So when it got there, nobody knew what it was. And so, when I called back three days later, they were like, "Well, we don't have it. You're gonna have to submit it again." So I had to go back to the library and do all that crap again, then waited another 24 hours, and then called them back and got it all set up. It was a drawn out and annoying process for me.

Not everybody has internet, not everybody knows how to do all this stuff, not everybody has a smartphone, and the answer of, "Oh, well, all you gotta do is..." doesn't work when you have a flip phone and no home internet access. And the recording kept saying, "Well, if you wanna do this faster, just get online." I can't use my phone when I'm in the library where they got the internet to be checking anything. I'm old school. You should be able to make a phone call, give them the information. Also, at both times that I called I had to wait on hold, over 20 minutes, waiting for somebody to get to my call, which cost minutes off my phone and minutes off my life. I was not impressed at all. They just gave me a refund but I got $79 for a $149 printer. I opted to get the check and get it done quickly instead of having them try to fix it. I'm tired of it. I got a printer that I can't use, for a reason that I needed it for, and I was just ready to be done with the whole process.

A part of my laptop had broken and needed to get worked on. I filed the claim to SquareTrade over the phone and there was a misunderstanding with the representative that I spoke to. It wasn’t clear that I was supposed to print off the shipping label and package the product myself to send it back. I only realized that a week later. I understood that they would send a package with a label on it and I have to put the laptop in the package and send it to them. Other than that, the guy was extremely helpful and I felt pretty good at the end of that phone call.

Another thing is that I got frustrated with the website. ‘Cause I’m going back in. I’m trying to figure out how to get hold of somebody for help or even try to do a follow up because when I’m being told that they would contact me in two to five business days when they receive the laptop, I didn’t hear from anybody for two weeks. So I went ahead and took the effort to try and find somebody and call. SquareTrade just emailed me last week, saying that they couldn’t repair the laptop, so they’re gonna send me a check and I have no idea how much I’m gonna get back. I’m hoping it’s the full amount because it’s a very spendy laptop. So far, I’ve been very satisfied, but we’ll see how big the check is.

I have used SquareTrade for years on multiple products and always found them to be prompt and efficient in the past. This is not the case on my recent service request for my IPhone. I sent the phone in on Thursday and it was received by SquareTrade on Friday. Friday I received an e-mail stating the phone had been received, repaired, and shipped back to me. Five minutes later I get an e-mail that the process was 75% completed, and the phone was being serviced. So did it ship, or is it being worked on? I expected the phone to be delivered Saturday. I called back Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and then on Tuesday with each call and chat ending in complete frustration at being told they still don’t have tracking information and someone will be getting back to me within 24 hours. By Tuesday morning, the poor service responses are wearing me thin.

I’m now told by the rep that the phone was received and repaired on Friday, and that nothing was done Saturday, Sunday, or Monday, but that today they are testing the phone to make sure it is good. WHAT! I got a supervisor on the phone to tried to assure me that my claim was now high supervisor priority and someone would get back to me IN 24 HOURS!!! You’ve got to be kidding me. Same line repeated 4 days in a row. Had I known the service was going to be this poor I would have taken the phone direct to Apple Service where it would have been fixed the same day. I still don’t have my phone, nor do I know when I will ever receive it. I would give a zero rating if I could. I’m also praying none of my other devices (iPad, cameras, lenses, watches) have any issues, as unfortunately all my warranties are through SquareTrade. :(:(:(

They thought it was still under the manufacturer’s warranty but it wasn’t because it was a refurbished laptop. They reimbursed me for it. The customer service team at SquareTrade was friendly and they handled it quickly once I told them that the manufacturer wasn't of help.

I am truly disappointed as to the competence of SquareTrade's ability to assess an Electrical/Mechanical Failure with a TV. They said it was cracked. There is no crack in my TV. The TV has been in my possession the entire time. I turned it on and it was like this. I have not dropped it. It has not been damaged in any way, shape or form while in my possession. This is absolutely unacceptable. I have been a Costco member for 16 years and never in my entire time as a Costco Member have I come across the incompetence of SquareTrade. Every person I spoke with (5 to be exact) asked me if there was accidental damage to my TV, and each time I said NO.

I will be filing a complaint with the BBB as well as Costco. I spent $60.00 for this plan to have it covered as I had a similar experience where I lost a TV to an Electrical Issue but was out of warranty so I had to buy a new TV. I would never recommend these guys to ANYONE. They are crooks and incompetent. They don't even listen to what you are saying. It seems they outsource their customer service to India because it is like talking to a robot. POOR Customer Experience.

    Hello Sean,

We're very sorry that we were unable to process your claim.

For TV Protection Plans, SquareTrade mirrors the manufacturer's coverage which provides protection for mechanical and electrical failures only. Since TVs are intended to be stationary, not portable, accidental damage from handling is not covered or offered as additional coverage.

Physical damage on TVs reflects in different ways, depending on the activity that caused it.

I purchased a Vizio TV Aug 23 of 2018 from Walmart. It started having issues turning on repeatedly the beginning of the this month. So I called the number on my protection plan pack. They told me to deal with Vizio, which temporarily solved and created more issues with the TV. I was told to put it on eco mode. Made it so it was unable to turn on in the morning. Then I was told to do a soft reset. Still had same two issues on eco or quick start mode. Called again. Was told to try unplugging it at night which worked for awhile, but then on the 23rd when I plugged it in to turn it on it was a dark screen that started randomly showed store demo mode at top of screen today, they had only helped me cause more issues. When I called to see if my options they said I still had to deal with the manufacturer, even though I have a three year plan. Which I was told ended after first year.

One guy at SquareTrade has tried to help a lot today (24th) with some other remote resets, etc. But still stuck in store demo without apps working, dark screen until TV resets itself in that mode. Trying to figure out why my plan isn't being honored the way it's supposed to and SquareTrade helps and refund/replaces some as I've seen online but not others that are definitely covered.

    Hello Guy,

We apologize for any inconvenience faced throughout your claim process.

SquareTrade protection plans are extended warranties that cover you beyond the manufacturer's warranty period to ensure there are no gaps in coverage and continues after their year ends. Given that your item was still under the manufacturer's warranty at the point of filing the claim, they were responsible for resolving any mechanical failures that occurred since those are typically caused by defects or workmanship.

Again, we apologize if this caused any frustration for you. However, we have confirmed that your warranty with Vizio is expired and we'd love to continue assisting you. A representative will be reaching out shortly in order to get this process started for you.

    We apologize for any inconvenience.

Squaretrade provides repair, replacement, and reimbursement as our resolutions to address consumer claims. Which are available depends on the item and issue.

These resolutions are detailed within the terms and conditions of our warranty contract. Square trade as well as other warranty providers charges deductibles for the claims made on the account.

We have seen that in most cases, a factory reset has resolved phone issues and saves the customer a claim.

In the case that the factory reset doesn't address the situation, then we move on the repair the device.

In this instance, your approved claim is for a local repair.
The way that it works is that you will pay upfront for the repair.
Upon receiving the repair receipt, SquareTrade will fully reimburse you for the repair cost minus the deductible.

This is a resolution in which Squaretrade has utilized for years. This option is typically considered a quick fix and has been shown to have a very high customer satisfaction rate.

That is hardly worth it when to replace the screen on my own would’ve cost less the $204 I paid altogether for the instance. I would’ve saved more money by being uninsured! When I got a new iPhone 10R, I bought a warranty for it from my cell carrier, **. They use SquareTrade for the warranties, and I was assigned a warranty number. As it turned out, a friend dropped my phone not ten days later, and I called SquareTrade to see what I would have to do to file a claim. After a 48 MINUTE wait on hold, I gave all of my information to a young lady who seemed to be having problems understanding my questions.

I asked if it can just have it repaired locally, and send a bill (I realize they might not reimburse it all, that's OK), and she said "Yes." But, once I finished giving all of the info, she said that the claim could not be filed because "We don't cover the iPhone 10R ... yet." Huh? I reminded them that THEY ISSUED ME A WARRANTY, which she acknowledged at the start of the call! She said it was the cellular carrier's fault, since "they didn't submit the 10R." I asked what kind of phone it said on the warranty in front of her, and she responded "iPhone 10R." Uh, I asked to speak to a supervisor, and the original rep fought me to NOT do that, saying "Everyone is busy, and we can call you back in 48 hours." Uh, NO.

Finally, she got a supervisor on the line, who proceeded to repeat that the 10R was not covered, but "might be in a few days, so fall back and file your claim then." Huh?? I asked again if I can have the phone repaired in the interim, and she said, "You COULD, but then you would still have to take it to one of our approved repair locations." "AFTER I have it repaired, you want me to take it to ANOTHER repair shop??" "Yes, that is correct. And, once they APPROVE it, you will have to MAIL your phone to us, so we can see it."

That is the point where I "lost it" completely. They (likely somewhere in the Middle East, based on the accents of both people) were reading from scripts that had consecutive lines that contradicted each other. I called my cell carrier and complained. PS: I did try to file my claim two days late, online. Their website is WORSE than their phone line... I am trying to file a CLAIM, and am bombarded with constant POP-UPS of :"testimonials" saying HOW GREAT SquareTrade is, how I should also insure my TV, etc. Another half hour of that, no progress. I called my cell carrier and CANCELED my warranty. NOT WORTH having to deal with a company who OBVIOUSLY doesn't care about how much they piss off their customers. PS: FYI, I work online, on dozens of websites, about 30 hrs a week, and am VERY familiar with how website SHOULD be run. Not even close, here.

I called Vizio first and that warranty had expired. So, they told me to call SquareTrade. They had me to do some stuff one time and I’d done that, and it worked for about a week and then it came back. Last time, another guy had me do a couple of more things over the phone. He had me unplug it and push the reset button and unhook it from everything, and then push the reset button. Currently, it’s still working. He said if it happened again to call back because they're gonna have to send someone out or it could be the DirecTV box.

When I made the claim, it was a lot on my end. I had to physically do what he was trying to tell me that I needed to do. I had to take the TV off of the console we had it set on, turn it upside down so I could see under. So, it wasn’t something simple. The experience was somewhat satisfying, but I didn't like having to move the big TV all by myself and figure out what he was trying to tell me to do. The rep said they wouldn’t send anyone out if they could handle it over the phone.

Why would I take $42 when I just put over $40 of ink in it and would have no use for that." He again asked if I would mind being on hold. He came back with the same wordy statement and offered me $49...by then I was very angry and said, "No, I will take a replacement" and was told it would take up to 5 days to find another one which would be refurbished....that is crap. Hello Valentina,

We apologize for any dissatisfaction with your recent claim.

Squaretrade utilizes the manufacturer warranty for almost all items we cover, as we can only provide a finite amount in resolutions per item. Typically this coverage amount equals the amount paid for your item, as is the case with your warranty.

Squaretrade provides repair, replacement and reimbursement as our resolutions. Which resolution your product qualifies for depends on a variety of factors, but whichever option is selected your limit of liability remains the same. In this case we offered two different resolutions to service your product, both of which were denied.

Since we have offered these resolutions we are meeting the obligations of the warranty. We apologize if these results are dissatisfactory and one of our specialists has reached out to confirm if you'd want to cancel the policy. Otherwise we'd be happy to approve your claim.

    Thank you,

My Macbook Pro has a few issues that started to start at the same time, 1. faulty keyboard (which Apple has acknowledged and said they would repair for free), 2. battery does not hold charge, and 3. screen distortion caused by some hardware issue. The complication arises due to the fact that I was approved to replace my battery by going to an Apple retail store (as well as repairing the keyboard since it is a defect with my Macbook Pro model); HOWEVER, the hardware issue that is causing the faulty screen was not approved for repair at Apple. This honestly makes no sense to me. I should be able to repair ALL issues at an authorized repair center, in this case, the Apple retail store. I shouldn't need to get some issues resolved at Apple, then resolve some issues by shipping to SquareTrade. Exceptions should be made in the spirit of helping the customer.

    Hello David,

We apologize for any difficulty with this claim.

Squaretrade does our best to offer a variety of resolutions, though which are available depend on your item and the issue it is experiencing. Your claim was initially approved to have the item repaired by your local Apple shop, afterwards receiving compensation from us via check. This is a relatively common resolution and allows our customers the flexibility to repair the product at their convenience.

If this resolution proves unsuccessful we can migrate your claim to a different resolution, as was done in this case. We have since approved your item to be serviced by our mail-in technicians and the packaging for your product is expected to arrive today.

We again apologize for any difficulty and we greatly appreciate your patience.

    Thank you,

    KM

I got a protection plan through the cellphone company and when the cellphone stopped working, I contacted them. They gave me the number for SquareTrade, which I called, and at first, they told me to go to a store and have the phone repaired. However, the store that they told me to go to does not do that kind of a repair. I called them back and they said that they would just replace the phone, and to send back the old one when I get the new one. I got the phone in a week at the most. We have done this twice and it has been very simple and easy.

I purchased this warranty with a small electronic device on Amazon. I was glad I had when the device stopped working properly. I followed their directions to file a claim and received a quick response, indicating I'd be getting an Amazon gift card refund emailed to me within a day or two. That didn't happen. So I emailed them again. They said it would be reissued. I still didn't get it. This has has happened at least three more times. Still nothing. Their correspondence is always pleasant, but they don't do what they are supposed to do!! I even provided a second email address the last time, as they requested, but still nothing. Such a pain in the neck to get refunded less than $10. I'm sure they're just hoping I'll go away for such a small amount and they can keep my money. Now it's the principle of the thing.

    Hello Austin,

We're sorry we were unable to approve this claim.

Squaretrade offers warranties with different degrees of coverage, including Standard and Accident Protection plans. Your product is covered by a Standard Protection plan, of which protects your item from hardware and electrical failures due to normal use.

In this case your claim was denied due to physical damage to the product. This would require an Accident Protection plan to be covered and one of our specialists has reached out to discuss the situation further. We hope to speak with you soon and again apologize for any misunderstanding.

    Thank you,

My Samsung tablet stopped working. At first, there was confusion as to who was supposed to be fixing it because I had a concierge warranty with Costco. That was the big delay and it took a couple of weeks. Once we got it straightened out that it was SquareTrade, because the concierge warranty was up, they followed through. They just asked for my receipt and they walked me through the process of how to load it up.

When it wasn't clear, they told me how to resubmit it again and I was able to do it. They took care of it and sent me the label right away. I took it to the post box, dropped it off for FedEx, and it just came back to me. They called and said they got it and they just sent it back to me fixed. The only thing is that it's as if I bought a brand-new computer. They said something that they might have to wipe it out. But I think that it's now charging easily and it has no problem, I just have a second tablet. SquareTrade was excellent. If I have something, if I would, I'll get them to cover it.

When I was buying the juicer online from Amazon, I was able to add SquareTrade on it. The juicer just stopped working due to an electrical issue and I didn't really know how to file. I had to do research but once I figured it out, I set up an account on the website and then I was able to put in all the information. Then, SquareTrade emailed me with a few different options, saying either just get a refund or I could take it somewhere to get fixed or I could've had a replacement but I would've had to send the juicer that was broken. That would've just been a big hassle.

Originally, SquareTrade was gonna give me 80% of what it was worth, but then I called and complained about that because it cost just as much to buy one today as it did a couple of years ago when I originally got it. So then, they sent me another check with the rest. They ended up refunding 100%. The experience with SquareTrade was good and the only part that was difficult was they didn't send me any instructions when I originally bought it.

It was something that wasn't covered. I guess they just didn't know how to do it. The benefits and the coverage of this warranty are not good enough as it said it cover electrical failures or component failures but when it came to it, it didn't.

    Hi Lederrius,

We're very sorry for the issues encountered during your claim process.

SquareTrade Standard Protection Plans offer coverage for mechanical and electrical failures. This warranty does mirror the manufacturer's warranty and covers all issues that occur when the unit is used within the manufacturer's guidelines.

In your case, our technicians found that the external components that were connected to your unit exceeded it's capacity, causing the amplifier to burn out and malfunction. Given this, we were unable to complete the claim.

We truly apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, but we see that you did speak with one of our representatives and received some assistance regarding this matter.

    Thanks,

    Hello Gregory,

We apologize for any difficulty you experienced with your claim.

Squaretrade requires a proof of purchase for almost all warranties we have on file. This proof of purchase must include the item purchasing price, date of purchase and product/location description. We provide our customers access to their warranties online and the proof of purchase can be uploaded at anytime, though this receipt may not be fully registered until the time of filing your claim.

In this case we were unable to approve your claim due to no receipt being on file for the product. We apologize for any inconvenience and one of our specialists has reached out to verify if you would like a full refund of your warranty purchasing price.

I usually try to get the warranties whenever I can when it's feasible and reasonable. Recently, I got one for the Epson printer and SquareTrade was the one that the store used. They asked me if I wanted it and I said okay. I filed a claim last month and I started it online but then they told me to call, so I called. The rep was a nice kid. A part on the printer broke and they gave me the money to buy a new one. They didn’t even ask me to send it back. It's kinda big and probably would have cost them money. I took the refund in a form of a credit at Staples and I am still hunting for a replacement printer. But I'm close. So, I may buy either an Epson or Hewlett Packard.

Buying an air mattress is like buying tires. If you're gonna be using it all the time, you never know what will happen. I got a SquareTrade protection plan for it at Walmart and the purchase process was easy. .But having to call the warranty company is a problem. After I had the air bed for three months, I couldn’t return it back to Walmart because the warranty through Walmart had already went by. So, I started filing a claim online with SquareTrade. But it was very complicated. You could put anything in there then it would say that they didn't cover any warranty and that I had to do this and that. So, I decided to call and talk to somebody. They told me that I had to call the manufacturer who made the air mattress first and make sure that they wouldn’t repair the item. It was a mess.

In the end, I didn’t get the mattress repaired. The manufacturer said that they don’t repair the item, then I had to call back the warranty company saying that I spoke to such and such. But I shouldn’t have to call a third-party. I'm already paying for warranty and the insurance company should be the one that handles everything for me. But SquareTrade didn’t handle it. The whole thing was really a waste because when SquareTrade said they'd take care of the problem, they said that based on their computer, they were gonna give me $25 back. But the air mattress cost $29.

    Hi Lakenya,

We're very sorry you encountered this experience.

SquareTrade is an extension to the manufacturer's warranty that runs concurrent but does not take its place. For mechanical and electrical failures during the first year, we refer these claims to the manufacturer of the item since most of these issues are typically caused by defects or poor workmanship. However, in the event of a denial, SquareTrade can reevaluate the case and see what additional assistance can be provided.

However, upon reviewing the account, we confirmed that you were able to get this case resolved, fortunately. We hope that we have the opportunity to give you a better experience in the future.

    Thanks,
