    When I bought a Fitbit for my mother on eBay, it allowed me to check the box for SquareTrade if I wanted to add it for that transaction. The cool thing about SquareTrade is you can add it if you want or you don’t have to. They don’t force you to do it. It was added protection for us, which made us more willing to make the purchase. The claim process was super easy and very user-friendly, which is good for people who aren’t on a computer a lot. And they were super quick with emails and notifications.

    They gave me three different options to choose from. And it was pretty much whatever would benefit your lifestyle, which was really neat. There was a way where you could submit it back in, and then SquareTrade would find something similar in price and in function. It would take up to five days for them to do that. You can also go somewhere local, have it fixed and then reimbursed by SquareTrade. The final option is a check for a smaller amount than you purchased the time for, that way, you could purchase whichever one you wanted. We did that because my mom wanted to make sure that she got the same purple one. She was worried that if she submitted it, SquareTrade wouldn’t send her the right color. We were able to replace it with the one we wanted without having to change anything, which was nice. Moving forward, I'd always add Square if given the option.

    When I contacted Square Trade I was told I would have my phone back in 24-48 hours. It's now over a week and there is absolutely no answers as to when I will get my phone back. It simply had a broken screen. My deductible on the plan said $25 for broken screen yet I was charged $149. After 3 phone call I have no answers and no phone. Very bad customer service.

    The stovetop with burner hotplate quit working. SquareTrade just said to do what I want with it and they sent me a new one. That's still on manufacturer warranty. Then the last claim on my printer went well too. They went through the troubleshooting steps and then they sent me out another printer. I recycled my old one.

    SquareTrade was a really good service. They were very prompt in responding, getting things done and having the laptop back to me. Their whole claims process took about a week. My laptop was unable to charge. Moreover, the battery died out and it was unable to start up. Once SquareTrade had done their troubleshooting with me, they emailed me the shipping label and I took the laptop into FedEx and sent it in. They were gonna try and fix it, but if they couldn’t, they would replace it. However, they were able to fix the problem and I got the machine back, which was nice because it still had all my data information on it.

    Having it was really valuable, otherwise, I would have been looking at spending several hundred dollars on a new computer. I had my laptop looked at by somebody before I remembered that I had the warranty. And it would have cost more to fix it than to have it replaced. Instead, I got it back working again, which is so much better for me. I would recommend using them.

    I got a protection plan for my Canon printer. It was around 10 bucks. If it goes wrong, they said I could get it replaced so I got it. The new guy doing my computer told me to turn the printer in. I did and I got a new one for around 70 bucks. It couldn’t have happened at a better time because we had to move our shop. I’m in the cabinet business, and we’ve been struggling so hard to get the cash flow back up since our move and this Corona stuff ain’t helping either.

    I purchased a Gas grill from Sam's Club about 1 1/2 yrs ago, the clerk sold me the Squaretrade "Protect your Purchase" warranty. Well Now my Grill is unsafe to use as it has rusted through the front and back of the grill so the gas lines and valves are exposed. I called Squaretrade and got told it's not covered, well the warranty was sold as whatever happens they "Squaretrade will take care of it". Not true. It's approximately a $400.00 grill that is useless, It's unsafe to use with the valves and such exposed. Squaretrade got my money and failed to hold up their end. I'm sure someone is gonna reply saying that we did all we could, which was nothing. I will not recommend them to anyone. I will be letting all forms of social media know what's going on and post all the pictures I can. Thanks for reading.

    The SquareTrade warranty does not cover issues caused by negligence. Rust would be considered a cosmetic issue caused due to negligence.  Items that are kept outside should be stored according to the manufacturer's specifications to ensure there are no cosmetic damages.

As for this case, the cosmetic issue was caused by negligence, therefore, we were not able to process a claim.     I cannot believe Costco endorses this company. I contacted them today and filed a claim on my television and they addressed it by requesting numerous photos and questions and then denying it outright because of “improper use”. Because when I buy a $3000 TV you better believe I am going to mistreat it. The tv would turn off and on on its own. I didn’t think that was worth filing a claim for so I never did. Then, I discovered there was a discolored spot on the tv. So I fills the claim. I told them about both issues and that I was more concerned about the discoloring. They said that the discoloration was due to improper use and that voided the warranty- including the TV turning on and off.

    When I asked whether the TV turning off and on could have affected my ability to “properly” operate the TV, they dismissed it and said because it had one issue it cancelled out the other. When I asked about the TV turning on its own and thereby causing the burn in, the rep flat out told me that I was not telling the truth and that I would have filed a claim sooner if that were the case. At that point I requested a manager call back and have yet to get such a resolution. I am letting everyone I can know not to use this disreputable company. All the cliches about insurance companies just looking at the bottom line and not looking out for their customers is being proved by this company. Never again.

    I filed the claim on my daughter's phone, on March 4, 2020. I was told to take the phone to a local repair shop, and I would be reimbursed. Along with a copy of the invoice from Amazon, I uploaded the invoice for the repair which was $159 and change. I was told it would take 1 or 2 days for a reimbursement check to be cut and mailed. I had heard nothing by March 12, and was told a check would be here by March 16. As that too turned out to be a false statement by CSR, I called again on March 20. The CSR told me that they would get everything straightened out in 24 to 48 hours. It's now Monday, March 23, and I have had no word. I feel like I'm being given the runaround, and I would not recommend anyone buy an insurance package with this company.

    When I bought the Fitbit watch, the Target associate told me if I wanted to put a policy on the watch and I got SquareTrade. I filed a claim for the watch and the process was pretty flawless. They pretty on time with everything that they said in their emails. They weren't able to fix it but they refunded me. I got the check and it was pretty quick. SquareTrade is very responsive. The only thing I would have to say is that at the store level, they need to be a little bit more proactive when they’re promoting the product. They need to tell us that we register right away and not lose our receipt because it was a pain trying to find all that information.

    My Thermostat suddenly stopped working and showed a blank screen. I went online and filed a claim for the product. I received an email saying they would send me a reimbursement for the product. I declined the reimbursement because I would lose money on the entire transaction and requested a replacement item. The company emailed me shortly after and said they cannot find a replacement item and would pay the lower amount. I went online and found the same exact item at Lowe’s, Home Depot, and Amazon and wrote the company regarding this. They asked me to call and basically tried to strong arm me in taking the reimbursement cost. I again declined. I will never do business with this company again. They are fraudulent and try to rip off the consumer as much as possible.

    I was given a printer in 2018 for a gift. It never worked. I purchased 2 separate sets of ink cartridges. No luck. I let it go for a while because I did all my printing at work. Now that I am retired I need a printer. I cannot do anything because I don't have a receipt. Now I cannot get anywhere on. Just worthless and 2 hours of my time "chatting". I have the purchase date, and my protection plan number. They even said they located the plan.

    When I bought a $200 kid’s toy through Walmart, I figured, why not get SquareTrade. It’s a motorized little car for kids. If you go a little steep and go forward, it shuts off. I made a claim with SquareTrade and the customer service tried to be helpful. But I haven’t been able to resolve the issue. They’re not providing me with a place where I can take the laptop to get it fixed. And I can’t find anybody.

    I’m kind of a warranty freak and I like to insure everything. Having a warranty is very valuable. Costco offered a protection plan and it was the SquareTrade. I have had the product with my other devices. We have a number of items insured like the laptop. When the hinge broke and the laptop wouldn’t close, I made a claim for it. I started the claim online. But because I have so many devices insured with SquareTrade, I had to call them so they could send the right one. The process was super easy and quick. They sent a box and everything went really nicely. I sent the laptop to them and they returned it within a week. It's been fine since then.

    My original dad purchased a phone for my Christmas present. It was only a $39 phone and I didn’t think SquareTrade had a warranty for $39 phones. But apparently, they do because I went and got a phone quicker than I thought I would. I started submitting a claim online and it said that I needed a receipt. I didn’t know where the receipt was and I called them. I was saying that my mom deleted it, not knowing it was coming under her email. I was surprised because they told me to send the phone in and that as soon as they'd get the phone, they would send the warranty card. So I put the thing on Friday and when they picked it up on Saturday from Walmart in Flushing, they issued the card the same day. For a warranty for small stuff, SquareTrade is really precise.

    I wanna get a better phone, so I’m taking the card that SquareTrade has sent me and getting a better phone. I would advise people to get a warranty through them because they are really good and responsive. I'm extremely satisfied with them. It was a $20 deductible. I asked why they were having me pay the $20 deductible and they said that it was a $39 phone and it would cost me nothing to replace it. They were very informative and very polite.

    Claim # **. I was NOT honored the warranty because of too much damage. The warranty does not state that it will not cover if an item has too much damage. I was told to send a picture of the box. I did, but the warranty does not state you need to keep the box the item came in for 2 or 3 years, but I did have the box! Three weeks later SquareTrade tells me to send them pictures of the phone. I had thrown it in a trash bin, after it was ran over, so I dug it out of the trash bin and took the pictures. Then I was told it had excessive damage and the warranty is no longer good. After many, many days it laid in the trash bin cuz he told me not to send it in to SquareTrade. Thanks for nothing, I have been purchasing these warranties for years but I will not any longer nor will I recommend them to anyone.     We got the plan for our Duo Keurig coffee maker. It’s kind of an expensive item and we felt it would be worth having a little protection. Our Keurig has one side that has a coffee pot and one side that has the little Keurig cup and single-serve. On the coffee pot side, the filter container that slides in and out in the front was stuck. We could never open it. We couldn’t get it out. Also, it quit filling up the entire pot of coffee. It would only put a little bit in and then stop. It was fairly new. We cleaned it and we called the company. We did everything we possibly could.

    I packed it all up and took it back to Walmart. They told me it’s been more than 30 days, but it was barely more than 30 days. They said I have to call SquareTrade and that I have a protection plan in there. So I brought it back home and called SquareTrade. They told me that I have to take it to Walmart. But I already did that and then they directed me to the Keurig company. I talked to the Keurig company and they resolved it. They offered us a upgraded coffee maker and it’s fabulous. I sent back the original coffeemaker to them in the packaging that they sent me the new one in. It’s been fine ever since. But I had to do a lot of work and there seems to be a lack of communication between the entities.

    I ordered a pair of Bose headphones a little over a year ago and 6 months in I had an issue where the headset was producing very poor sound quality. I tried to make use of the warranty I purchased along with the headset and after I filed the claim the issue seemed to go away. Fast forward to about a week ago and the same poor sound quality issue occurred. I called the support line and they were very helpful and referred me to a store down the street I could go and someone would take a look at it and possibly repair it. I took it down there and in the same day the gentlemen mentioned that these headphones were broken and needed to be replaced entirely. So I called SquareTrade again and they told me to ship the headphones in so they could take a look. After they received them it was determined the issue could not be reproduced so they would send the headphones back to me.

    I called and it was stated to me time and time again "We have not found an issue with theses headphones so we are sending them back". Not allowing me any input in the process after I exclaimed the issue only happens sporadically and was not necessarily going to happen all the time. Not to mention wasting hours of my time driving, packaging the headphones, being on the phone with the warranty customer service representatives. Do I just submit the headphones for a third time again when the inevitable happens? Waste more time doing all the same things over again? Now I am sitting here stuck with a fundamentally broken pair of headphones with a warranty on them and the irony is that I can do nothing to finally amend this problem but buy a new pair of headphones. Certainly not with the warranty this time.

    First time using SquareTrade. Sent XBOX One in to repair disk drive, it was returned in worse condition than before. Second time sent in for repairs, returned And was not able to turn Console on. Since my extended warranty was expired, SquareTrade offered to cover the cost of a new Console.     The first part of my experience was awful. First, Bose didn't even notify me that my insurance was with SquareTrade when I purchased their warranty. When I tried to file a claim on your website, which isn't great, it wouldn't let me file nor edit the claim. It just kept telling me to call squaretrade, which I did, they told me to file it on the website and gave me directions for someone who's account wasn't messed up. They said if I had trouble to use live chat. The live chat person had no idea what they were doing and told me to call back. I called and they told me all I had to do was to follow a link they were going to send me in an email. The "button" that said "continue your claim" wasn't even embedded with a link. And no, I wasn't on mobile.

    This was not the first email I received from squaretrade that was messed up. I work in development and I highly doubt this email problem is on my side. After my 4th call to you guys I told them I wanted to speak to a supervisor but, I never spoke to one because this guy actually was helpful and fixed my problems. He didn't understand at first but, when I explained the problem he filed the claim for me on his side; after I emailed a product receipt which I was told it was the reason for the problems. It is weird I was emailed to rate my experience with SquareTrade when I haven't even received my product back. I haven't even been told whether they can fix it or not. I guess I'll leave another review if something else goes wrong. Since that 3 stars is under the expectation I am receiving a fixed or new product without any other difficulties. It just seems like SquareTrade is somewhat dysfunctional where the left foot doesn't know what the right foot is doing.

    I had some electronic devices in the past but I thought that there was an extra plan that I could put on my Fitbit Ionic. So that's why I purchased the SquareTrade protection plan and after my claim with them, I was like, "Wow. I wanna do this again in the future." If I have an electronic device and have an opportunity to get SquareTrade on it, I'n gonna definitely do it.

    I did the claim because for whatever reason, the Fitbit stopped working. The time would work but the feature for counting the steps stopped working. The heart rate monitor and one other thing stopped working as well. I happened to remember that I had purchased the extra warranty. I just got on the website and put in my claim then. It was really easy and it was also really easy to follow up. But when it came to the receipt, although I keep everything, I couldn't find the dumb thing. Thankfully, I went back on Amazon and I found my invoice. I submitted that and it was accepted as my receipt. SquareTrade emailed me, saying that my Fitbit was not fixable and it would be like a week that I'd receive a new one. When I got home that day, there was a box with my new Fitbit in it on my door.

    I usually NEVER get extended warranties, but when we had to buy washer, dryer, and refrigerator after moving into a new house from Costco, I figured it'd be a good idea, especially since the price for the warranties was modest. As our luck would have it, our Samsung fridge was problematic from day 1 and we had ice maker and general cooling problems. After the 2 year mfr warranty ran out, we contacted SquareTrade for our cooling issues and ice maker issues many times. They were always cordial, professional and worked hard until the problems were resolved. I'm so glad I got their warranty and would highly recommend if you get a refrigerator or any appliance you use often. Unfortunately as they say, "They don't make things like they used to" is very true, and I definitely am very glad we invested in our Square Trade warranty.

    I ordered these warranties for a business we operate. I ordered them at the same time I ordered four new machines through Amazon. One of them won't start and I called to claim the warranty. After two hours of jumping through hoops and multiple phone calls to SquareTrade and Amazon to collect all the information. They informed me they don't do warranties for businesses and they would refund me the cost of the warranty. When ordering they did not display for personal use only. The lady on the phone didn't care and was nonchalant about this issue. Customer service is terrible and I would not recommend SquareTrade. It really feels like they ripped me off.

    I bought a Samsung 65"TV on July 2016 from Costco with ST extended warranty. Last November the TV started showing a vertical line first followed by 2 horizontal lines and a dot on the screen. Filed a claim in Nov. Asked for receipt, photos etc sent everything. They said would discuss with Costco and call back and never did. Later when I called again, Oh, it's been 60 days have to file a new claim!! Did it again. Sent the pictures again. Now they refused my claim stating that the lines were created by an "Accident". I was telling them there was no accident, the TV was mounted on the wall for the past 4 years, not moved, not transferred, same location and no accidents. But they state that it was accident and that was determined by their TV department.

    When I asked to talk to the TV department, No you can't talk! I asked at least a technician to come for an evaluation/repair? The answer was "No". Is this a joke? I spend 1000's of $$$ for purchase and 100's of ## for ST warranty. We had few ST warranties in the past and never filed a claim before. I am planning to go to Small Claims Court. I wanted to know who determined that this was an accident (which is untrue) and how and when? What were the procedures ST have to determine that it was an accident and what was the acceptance criteria? I need more documentation. I am not going to leave this issue. Very upset with the way ST handled my claim.

    The ultimate result was acceptable: you gave me my money back because you weren't able to get my protected device fixed. You didn't seem willing to try to get it replaced. I asked for the process to be done via chat or email - so I would have a paper trail because I am disabled, and do NOT function well under pressure - AND YOU SAID IT HAD TO BE DONE BY PHONE. Very stressful.

    The process took, literally, hours of my life. You kept giving me steps to execute which required a lot of work on MY part in this particular case. I understand you have to go through the steps - and tried to have it be reasonable - but the fact is that YOU didn't do the steps that it was implied YOU would do - find a repair place and have me send my device there, or find me a replacement. Instead, all those steps were up to a disabled person - me - and took energy I don't have.

    I would not have bought the device without the protection plan, and I'm glad at least financially I didn't suffer - so THANK YOU VERY MUCH - but the support I would have preferred didn't actually happen: YOU getting my device fixed, or a replacement to ME. Your marketing copy implied what you could not actually provide. The process made it 4* instead of 5* - good, but not great. I will recommend your protection plan, but will mention my caveats.

    While we were trying to put the TV up on the wall, we didn’t screw it in right to the mount so it fell. It was a Smart TV that we purchased from Walmart. We called SquareTrade to see if the warranty would cover that, but it didn’t. Their representatives were very friendly and helpful. They provided all the information that I really needed and they were very sympathetic as well. They understood that stuff happens, but it was out of their jurisdiction. So, they just said that they would refund us the warranty, which I didn't even think was possible. Then I had to think about it if I'd want the whole warranty back to make sure and they were fine with that. But it took less than 30 minutes. There was no time wasted. It was really great that they offered that refund. If I would get a warranty again, I’d make sure to get a SquareTrade.

    I purchased two warranties, one for the TV and another for my Samsung Galaxy S9. I sent a claim for the Samsung unit, and at first they said Sam’s Club canceled my SquareTrade warranty. I didn't have a warranty on the phone, although I have paid for some warranty. Then, SquareTrade said that I had one and then said that I did not have one. Sam's Club had to reinstate it, and once it got reinstated and situated, the guy that I talked to was helpful and he could do anything that needed to be done. After we got it taken care of, everything was fine.

    The glass that covers the camera lens was $120 deductible for the phone if it needed to be replaces, so I just ordered a new piece of camera glass for it. It was only $3.98, and I put it in. He also said that if I got it fixed, I should send the receipt and then they would refund if I paid out of pocket up to the deductible. But if it was over that I'd have to pay the deductible. But, I wasn't going to send them the receipt for them to send me back that amount in check. It is going to cost more mailing it out and the time. I could have sent the whole phone out and they would replace the phone, but there was nothing wrong with the phone.

    So I purchased AirPods in Walmart along with a Square Trade warranty. So when the AirPods malfunctioned I sent them in. And I got an email from square trade saying the item is unrepairable. And I hit a Walmart gift card back. They couldn't even provide a replacement! And the gift card only had $144 on it while I paid $160 including the stupid square trade insurance that couldn't even provide a replacement. I'm disappointed to say the least. Now they want me to go purchase new AirPods+pay for insurance that don't even work???? Worst experience ever.

    Trying to file a claim online was unsuccessful. I tried two times. After 4 phone calls, I was able to tell the customer service representative that we purchased a gaming chair at Staples on 9/24/18 for $99.99. We also purchased the 3 year furniture warranty for $9.99. I emailed a copy of the receipt and they located my warranty. I then stated that the wheel broke off the chair and the fabric is peeling off the seat and arm.

    Customer service representative asked me when the wheel broke off and I stated that I was not sure of the correct date. He insisted that I give him a date and I said probably in the later part of 2019. He, therefore made up a date and asked me if that was correct. I said ok. He then stated that he would give me $85.88 for my chair. I stated that I paid $99.99 for the chair. He stated that it didn't break until 2019 so that is what I am entitled to. I said no. He then went on to say that he could send me another chair. I asked which one. He told me that he could not give me that information because he did not know what they would send me. He went on to say that it would be something similar to the chair that I purchased. It would not be brand new it would be refurbished or reupholstered or remanufactured. I told him that was crazy. He then said you should take the money $85.88.

    What kind of nonsense is this. Give me less than what I paid for the chair or take a used refurbished product when I purchased a brand new chair. I told him send me the money because I was frustrated and annoyed with what he was offering me. This process took over 1 1/2 hours from the first phone call. The representative was less than pleasant and extremely forceful with his offers. Very dissatisfied with this company.

    This was a very frustrating experience. We have a chair that broke. The handle will not allow the chair to go up and down. I called Square Trade to put in a claim. After numerous phone calls, as the people taking the claim, did not understand, the phone number for the manufacturer was in another country. Two weeks, and many phone calls later, they finally agreed to have a service person come out and fix the chair. Asked for a picture. We provided that. Within a two days, they told us they cannot fix the chair and will be issuing a refund. The frustration was getting the proper information for the assistance with our claim. Fortunately, when Customer Service finally understood, the manufacturer could not accommodate us, we went forward. Thank you. We got a refund, and bought another chair, the same, and donated the broken one. Hope this helps, please train customer service better.

The device quit holding a charge in January 2020 after having swam with it (an activity that is advertised to be able to handle). I began the process of replacing it through SquareTrade on 1/31/2020. The process to file a claim was burdensome to say the least. I had to call a 1-800 # which I was then informed I had to call another 1-800#. When I called that number, they then sent an e-mail where I had to click a link to file a claim. I did that. My claim was promptly denied as the warranty does not cover spills. I had to call and explain that the device failure was due to an advertised feature of the device. At which point the claim was approved for repair NOT replacement.

    I sent the device to them on 2/14/2020 and it was returned a week later due to the charger not being included. That was my fault. The paperwork included with the return indicated that the claim was being closed, but that I could call to re-open the claim when the device was received back. I received the device back on 2/21/2020. I called to re-open the claim on 2/24/2020 when I was notified they could not do anything without the device serial number. This was not a requirement for the first claim. The device cannot be charged to turn it on to get the serial number.

    They stated they would not be able to do anything without the device serial number. I was told to contact Fitbit to get that information. If they are unable to provide that I will need documentation from them stating they cannot provide it. This has been a runaround the entire time. They have wasted my time and energy trying to get a repair or replacement. NEVER AGAIN. I will not have anything to do with this company again. Buyer beware. You might as well not purchase the extended warranty because it's nothing but a waste of time and energy.

    I've had SquareTrade for five months. They were the closest store and the one person I talked to from there was really nice. Their claims process was fast and they were easy to work with. They told me what to do. All I did was go to Bulbs and Batteries and Plus. They have lightbulbs, phone cases, batteries for boats, cars and lights for schools. The guy there said to come back in an hour and my stuff would be fixed. I did and it was fixed. It was good and it worked.     SquareTrade processed my claim for an impact drill. I have had it for two years and it burned out. I did the process online, but my browser was having something wrong. So, I spoke to an agent who walked me through to file a claim. The agent was very good. They said that I did not have to turn it in -- I just had to send them a bunch of photos. They then gave me a check in about a week. What I like about them is that they accept my claim and they process quickly. Several years ago, they also did a phone replacement for me, and that is why I continue to use it. I’m very satisfied.

    I was not too satisfied until recently when they gave me my refund back. My grandson had a bad experience where he got hurt badly on the product by Fluxx because of an electrical malfunction. I got it a year ago for him, at Christmas, and he got on it. It did all right the first couple of times, but then when he got on it on the third or fourth time, when he wanted to go forward, the device kept wanting to go round and round, so he fell off of it. He was on the pavement, so it was rough. It could have been bad, but it was okay.

    I wrote SquareTrade letters about that and they would not do anything about it. They kept saying the manufacturer still had the warranty on it. But I tried to get in contact with Fluxx and they thought I was trying to buy something from them, so they tried to sell me stuff. So, it was like, “Well, I can’t get nobody to answer me.” I let it ride for a while and then, finally, I got aggravated and went online because I had to file a claim, and SquareTrade went ahead and okay-ed my refund for it. So, that was good. When the time came and they did the right thing. I like the idea of them giving me back a refund so I can purchase either one that is right or something similar. I never had to ship the thing back and pay money to do that, which was what I was most concerned about. But, they didn’t make me do that.

    We have purchased many warranties from SquareTrade, mainly for electronics items. The first time we had the need to actually use a warranty from SquareTrade was for a Linksys EA9300 router, which stopped working approximately one month after the manufacturer's warranty expired. No problem, or so we thought, because we purchased a 4-year extended warranty from SquareTrade. SquareTrade is real good about saying they will replace or repair a faulty item and they also have a five day service guarantee in order to do it (not including shipping time).

    The item was bought through Amazon in November 2018. The router stopped broadcasting wireless signal in January, 2020. Contacted Linksys first, but of course, they would do nothing to support their product. Knowing we had a 4-year extended warranty, we contacted SquareTrade. After buying many items from Amazon and having no trouble returning them when needed, we expected similar treatment from the Warranty Company that Jeff Bezos and Amazon chose to affiliate themselves with. However, when we really learned about SquareTrade, we are simply amazed that Jeff Bezos and Amazon would use a company that is the exact opposite when it comes to customer service.

    SquareTrade offered one solution. They wanted us to bring the router to a local repair shop for repair and pay for the repair. What??? The rep said that they would surely then reimburse us, minus any deductibles of course. The rep would not say how much they would pay for repairs or what the deductible is. So, we are supposed to bring the $200 router in for repairs, which I am sure would be close to $200, if not more, and then try to get SquareTrade to cough up the reimbursement. We said that was not acceptable and the rep said that if we look at the warranty, we would see that it is to SquareTrade’s discretion how to handle any claim. So basically, we are out of luck and take it or leave it.

    Then we started to look into SquareTrade. All you would have to do is look at the SquareTrade (located in San Francisco) reviews on Yelp or the Consumer Affairs site. 1000’s of 1 or 2 star reviews. 1000’s of horror stories. The only higher reviews were from people who changed their review rating after SquareTrade finally did something to make the situation right, but these are far and few between. It seems like SquareTrade is another on of those warranty/insurance companies that incentives their employees to deny claims. They certainly don’t try to help with claims. Make sure you look at the real reviews, not the 2 or 3 fake ones they promote at the top.

    So we are left with a non-working router and a scam warranty company. That will be the last time we buy any electronics through Amazon, or anything that needs a warranty for that matter. So AMAZON BUYERS BEWARE OF SQUARETRADE!!! In fact, it just makes Amazon seem like a sleazy operation using a company like SquareTrade to rip their customers off. So we actually will be trying not to buy anything from AMAZON again and will make our purchases elsewhere in the future.

    While SquareTrade reserves the right to determine the best solution for the problem at hand, we structure our warranty resolutions with the consumer in mind. When we provide a repair resolution, it allows the consumer to continue with the item they are accustomed to and to avoid an unfamiliar replacement that needs to be learned or having to source a new device after a reimbursement.

    With the local repair option, we approve the consumer to have the item locally repaired. The consumer is free to repair the item at their leisure, and often can be reunited with their device within the same business day. We reimburse for all relevant costs surrounding the fix upon invoice receipt. It is a low impact resolution that allows the consumer to continue with their day-to-day life while hardly missing a beat.

    As stated previously, SquareTrade provides our resolutions with the consumer in mind. To protect the consumer from overpaying on a repair, we ask the consumer to contact us in the event they are quoted above a significant majority of the item's cost. The consumer is also encouraged to contact us if a repair center is unavailable or the unit is unrepairable. In events such as this, we can evaluate the next best resolution and proceed further.
