    Don't get me wrong, Square Trade is a great company and have come through for me numerous times. Though each time I opted to be reimbursed via a Walmart gift card. However, in May I decided I'd like to have the check, I really needed the money back after having to repurchase the phone. Well, here it is almost August, and still I have not received this check. Two checks have been mailed and voided.

    Today I called and asked to just have the reimbursement as a gift card (they email these within 24 hours usually) and they told me that once it has been decided in the claim and approved for a check that they could not change how it is paid out. Just to be clear and thorough, I had contacted the post office to be sure there weren't any issues on their end and there was not or hasn't been.

    I spoke to a square trade representative three weeks ago to update my address and they DID NOT notate the account nor did they have another check sent out. Last night I chatted with one of their representatives and gave them the new address, and I have completed two surveys and in both surveys have submitted the information about not receiving the check and have submitted the new address. I give this information because as of today, July 28th, when I talked to another representative and a supervisor, my address still had not been changed. So they're sending out another check, I'm not going to hold my breath but I'm hoping that it comes. If not, I guess I will be calling them again. They say 5 business days. I will come and update this review once there's finally a resolution.

    B&D PORTABLE A/C BPACT12WT 12,OOO BTUs - This unit was purchased on Amazon July 25, 2017. A Square Trade extended warranty was purchased for this unit at the same time. The appliance failed to perform after only 2 seasons. I filed a claim with Sqr. Trade on July 07, 2020. Initially, there was some confusion with the documents but eventually I spoke with your customer service agent, Debbie. Through her efforts, I was able to get my claim approved and processed. Debbie was personable, knowledgeable and listened to me carefully, never demeaning but rather happy to be able to help. The phone process took a while but I was rewarded with a magnanimous settlement from the Square Trade team and for that, this old guy is forever grateful!     Huge mess up with tv repair company. You guys give an 8 hr window but don't explain you still have to schedule the exact time, then I have to wait by the phone on the day of them coming to get it. You guys need to do a MUCH better job in contracting out to people who just give a 4 hour window so I don't lose an entire day. Just sucks.

    The video card went bad in my PC. Due to Covid19 I could not ship it anywhere, nor take it in for repair. They refused to ship me a video card so I could make the repair. It took me almost 3 months of arguing and repeated phone calls, but eventually they decided to refund me the cost of the computer. When a customer is experienced with computer repairs as I am, they should just ship the parts instead of leaving you hanging refusing to help you. Especially in the middle of a pandemic. I'm glad I eventually got refunded, but meanwhile it forced me to buy a whole new computer, because I needed one that functioned.

    My TV stopped working and after contacting Square Trade technical support was informed that parts were ordered and should be shipped my house with 2 business days. Later received another e mail informing parts were in back order and following day a new one informing new TV was approved as replacement. In the schedule day TV was not delivered neither received any call informing delay or justifying no show. Called again Square Trade and was told to wait 2 business days for a new e mail to follow up situation. 2 things you need know - I bought guarantee for a TV over $1000 and getting (whenever arrives) a replacement TV with cost $505,99. Calling customer service is useless as they go by script and you get no information.

    I purchased a Square Trade warranty when I bought an electric toothbrush handle on eBay. The handle failed within a year and I sought relief via Square Trade. Using their website was a nightmare as they took information and then suggested I contact the manufacturer. When I called to say it was not a manufacturer issue as I had purchased the product on eBay, they quickly sent a link for me to continue the claim online, but then I hit the same 'contact the manufacturer' roadblock. I had to call again and was finally able to place the claim through a telephone agent. While they did settle the claim and issue a check, it was for less than the purchase price. It was the amount they decided was fair. I learned my lesson. Clearly I'm better off making the purchase from the manufacturer and let them stand behind their product rather than trust an iffy warranty.

    Samsung 40 inch tv kept flickering off and on. Thank you for settling my claim. I thought I would have to purchase a new television because it was so difficult sending more than one video.     Received an email stating that claim was completed and would receive Square Trade fast cash, and would receive an email shortly. 3 days later and no email I called in and was told there was a glitch with my cash and would take 4 days to sort out and 3-5 business days when mailed. From initial claim filed to check received will be 3 weeks. I had already purchased a new tv with with another square trade protection plan, and will be returning the tv and protection plan tomorrow.     What they don't tell you is that for the first year, you have to contact the manufacturer anyway. Then on the second year, you have to send the product in at your own expense, printing the shipping label by yourself. It feels like a ripoff.

    Oftentimes, companies put the customer on the defensive, but SquareTrade representatives validated all of my evidence and my effort in trying to resolve my claim with the manufacturer and resolved it themselves. I've purchased at least one or two other SquareTrade policies in the past, but I always wondered if it was a sham. My most recent purchase was a 2-year policy for my leaf blower and it broke down after about 6 months. I contacted SquareTrade and I was notified to contact the manufacturer first since it was under one year.

    It was a Craftsman blower and I had to wait for close to an hour to speak with a customer service representative. I told the representative that I purchased the item on eBay and was given a few telephone numbers for shops to repair it. After it was in the shop for about 4 weeks, I was contacted to indicate that the blower could not be fixed and it was also a five-year old blower and no longer under warranty. I contacted SquareTrade and spoke with the first representative who very professional and requested proof of purchase.

    After emailing the required documents, I called in again about 20 minutes later and spoke with a second representative who was also very professional and continued with the claim. She transferred me to a third representative because my device was gas-powered and not electric. The third representative treated me with such kindness and made me feel comfortable and valued. Everything was resolved in less time that it took me to contact the one representative from Craftsman. Thank you SquareTrade! I will definitely purchase your product again!

    The corporate resolution of Square Trade responded with a solution to pay me for the broken phone since I had already purchased a new phone and would find out why their claims department chose not to resolve issue after I had followed their instructions and taken it an authorized repair store.

    I had a phone problem that I submitted in Feb. 2020. The Square Trade rep said it was probably because of an update that it needed (The phone wouldn't start up with out being plug into the USB). Finally agreed to wait for update which did not fix the problem. Check with the manufacture and was told it was hardware. They sent me to an Authorized repair shop that said is was not repairable and gave me paperwork to send to Square Trade which I did. Called last week and was told they would find a phone and send one and I could return my phone. Never heard anything after 4 days and called back and was told they would have to restart the claim. I was told I would be emailed a resolution in 24 hrs. (Heard nothing.)

    Called again and was told I need to take to a local authorized deal. I told him I already had and it was deemed unrepairable and I had sent them all the paper days ago. I finally talked to a supervisor that said regardless of what I had been told previously I now need to send the phone to them so they could make the determination which meant I would be without a phone for a number of days. I said that's not acceptable and she tells me that what my contract says. So more double talk. Went and bought a new phone and called to cancel the warranty. He tells me he is sorry and if it were up to him he would resolved the problem and asks for another chance and said he wanted to transfer me back to the claim department. I am so done with Square Trade and will never do business with them again or Allstate for that matter. At this time they still have not cancelled my warranty.

    When you buy something, you care about and use it frequently it is smart to put a Square Trade warranty on it. They have a kind courteous staff to assist you and to take care of you should the need arise. We have used their service on things that haven't required repair and on stuff that has required.

    When you need them they are there, that is what counts. We have been delighted in both cases, it is nice when something you care about last and it is equally as nice when that thing fails and Square Trade helps you out. You dont want that thing to fail, but it happens, and that is when Square Trade really shines. We hope we dont need them but when we do, they are a life saver.

    Very disappointed in the TVs you offered me. One finally came and did not work. Piece of junk. Told to send it back but will send me one just like it, another piece of junk. I can tell by when you go and check adjustments etc, no real settings, piece of junk. You find the cheapest TV to offer me as a replacement. Box looks like it has been to China a few times and back. Maybe new but in the Walmart storeroom pushed around from on corner to the next because no one will buy it. You are not a worthwhile company that tries to please your customer.

    I purchased SquareTrade when I purchased my new phone, hoping to never need to use it. But when my new phone began acting up after only a few months, I knew I made a wise choice. I initially ran into a problem because the fact that I purchased the phone from ebay was reason enough for the phone manufacturer not to honor the initial first year warranty. SquareTrade stepped in initially to provide some initial troubleshooting strategies, then offering for to reimburse my efforts to get it repaired by a local phone repair service.     I've been having problems with my tv. The tv turns itself on and off at all hours of the day. I called in Saturday and the rep I spoke with this a reset on my tv, she said that should work.     I purchased this S/T plan when I bought the phone on Ebay. Used the phone for over a year without issue, but then. I filed a claim with S/T after a local shop told me it could not be fixed. I had an issue the first time I tried to make the application online, as I had no way to submit the receipt I had received via Email. You only take screenshots and it was not something I could figure out. You had all the info, but could not do anything without a picture of a paper. You are suppose to be paperless? I finally figured out how to make the screen really small so I could get all the Email into one image. By the time I got this figured out I had wasted a couple hours on the phone with your people, and even more time getting everything done twice.

    In the end it was fast, and easy and your people were great all the way through. I thoroughly am pleased with S/T and will continue to use it and recommend it. I went into great detail about my issues, and I do think you can streamline that easily if you wanted to. I can see how you can shave the easy 10% off the top by adding a few whoops, but in honesty I've spent more on S/T than I have collected, and I am sure the same is true with all your accounts.     I manage device purchasing and maintenance for a small company. We have over a dozen warranties with SquareTrade. Unfortunately, whenever I need to speak with someone on the phone, I am talking to someone in India or Pakistan who thinks it is appropriate to constantly try to speak over me, thinks that by repeating themselves I will suddenly agree that what they are saying is no longer incorrect, or their English skills are so bad that I can barely understand what they are saying. My average call time whenever I call is around 2 hours. It would be easier to bring peace to the Middle East than getting someone helpful on the phone with SquareTrade.

    We ordered a pool cleaner from Amazon. After about a year it quit working. At the time we purchased the pool cleaner we also purchased an extended warranty from Square Trade. We could no longer return the pool cleaner through Amazon so we contacted square trade for a repair, replacement, or refund. We just wanted a replacement pool cleaner. We put in the claim which was super easy to do. Then we waited. For a little over a week. They had sent an email stating that they were searching for a replacement cleaner for us.

    Initially I sent my Fitbit in some time in May due to it shutting off for no apparent reason. My Fitbit was at one of your locations for 7 day and then upon getting it back the heart rate started not working, at first it would sit on at 88 bpm while doing anything (running, walking, resting etc.). I sent it back at that point and again the center had it for 7 days telling me everything was working fine. While it was at the center I got no updates unless I called at that was after the initial 2-5 day that I was told. Again upon getting it back my Fitbit continues to get worst now. It no longer reads anything in the heart rate section and the battery now only last a Day.

    When I called again to report my complaint I was told, that the center doesn’t fix intermittent issues (it has not been intermittent. It is continual). I have to find somewhere else to take it, And have a report sent to the center, while a global pandemic is going on and most places are close. I now have a improper functioning Fitbit, I guess until places reopen. Which is totally unfair especially after the center had my Fitbit on two separate occasions and yet every day this thing is not function proper.

    I bought my son some headphones from Office Depot back in March of 2020. They broke so I was chatting with someone from SquareTrade because I purchased their warranty. The person that I was chatting with decided he didn't want to give me a full refund, so he canceled my protection plan and is only refunding me the cost of the protection plan. Which is $5. I spent almost $60 on the purchase but Square Trade will only give me a refund of $5. I'm a single mom who's struggling financially, so $5 really does not help me at all!!!! I will NEVER buy a Square One protection plan/warranty again and I suggest that no one else buys them either. They are a scam!!!! They are not there to help you when what you purchased breaks. So I wanted to warn others about their scam.

    They do not honor their contract. The charging cable malfunctioned according to Apple and I need a new one. They claim that they do not cover the phone accessories but that is not in the exclusions in the contract. Customer service provided me with the contract and it was nowhere to be found. The agent just kept saying that they don't cover them but would not provide me with written documentation, that is dishonest. Don't do business with them.

    I made a claim about a phone and was told to take my device to Best Buy and I would be reimbursed. Due to Covid I was not able to go and my claim was closed. Now that stores are back open, I tried to open another claim by speaking to customer service and was told that because there was a small crack in the screen, I would not be covered for the mechanical issue. They will find any excuse not to cover your device. They are a complete rip off.

The first covers mechanical and electrical failures that occur during regular use of the item, and the second covers the same issues as well as any accidental drops or liquid contact. When the follow-up claim was filed, we were advised of physical damage to the device the claim was denied.

    I used Squaretrade once before and received a fast result because they didn't want me to send in the item for repair. This time I had to send my laser printer in for repair. The transit time for FedEx was over twenty days as the printer sat in the FedEx warehouse waiting to be delivered. I complained to Squaretrade and they sent me a $50 check for my inconvenience. Once they got the printer, it was "repaired" quickly and returned to me. My one star review lies with the fact that the printer was not only NOT repaired, it was in worse condition than when I sent it in.

    I immediately called, was put through two or three people and was told it had to be sent in again. What!? At this point they should have just written me a check for the item but, no, I had to pack it up again and lug it down to the FedEx at a local Walgreens. That was on June 12; today is June 26 and I've just received an email stating that it cannot be repaired and they will be sending me a check. I'm really steamed! I've been without my business printer since May 4, 2020. I now must wait another 7-10 BUSINESS days for the check. By the time I have a payout in my hand, it will have been over TWO months since this whole fiasco of a saga began. I'm done with SquareTrade.

    I purchased a brand new bike from a retail store along with a referred company to come assemble the bike and this warranty. The bike was never put together right and parts were broken. I took it to a bike shop to check it out and at the time, I was not aware of the warranty on it. I paid extra money to have the bike assembled right. SquareTrade showed me that they were concerned and because of what happened and the red tape in my situation, they still came up with a solution. I will highly recommend them.

I never buy warranties but I figured let me take the hassle out of warranty claims and the cost was about 15% of the item so it's not going to kill me. I'm currently having an issue with my computer where it overheats and the computer shuts down. I call Square Trade and they tell me, "Call HP. You're still covered by them??!?" Why would I buy a 1 YEAR warranty with you when the manufacturer was going to cover me anyway?!?!     I would absolutely not recommend buying a warranty with Square Trade. I bought a laptop through Office Max/Depot last year and the laptop broke (hard drive issues). I have spent 12 days, 13 phone calls (hours and hours on the phone with people who couldn't/wouldn't help), 2 store visits, and the end result is that they have passed me off to get help elsewhere. I paid $89.99 for a useless warranty. Do not purchase a warranty with them. If you need it, you will only run into extreme frustration and being passed off.

    I was told about 3 weeks ago that I was going to be sent an empty box to ship my laptop to you with directions on what to do next and none of that ever came to me.     I purchased a product that has since stopped working, I called to open a claim and I was told I have to do it online because that's the way you have to' , then why have a call center? So I started the claim online and then had to call back. When I did I had the unfortunate displeasure of speaking with shanice. She was not only rude, but was not very accommodating to try to help and then she hung up on me. Then when I was able to find the warranty info online, I was told to call the manufacturer. If they wont honor the warranty, then why offer it? If customer service refuses to help, then why have a customer service number?

    Whenever I bought electronic stuffs, I always bought SquareTrade's insurance for them. Never had a chance to use it until now. I bought a replacement for an item that was obsolete and upon submitting the receipt I am being told that that is insufficient. They requested the following information: "In order to proceed with your claim we required a repair invoice clearly showing (1) Store name, (2) Store physical address, (3) Store phone number (4) An email address for the store (5) Description of the repair that was done and (6) Repair date." ALL THIS INFORMATION IS ON THE RECEIPT! THERE IS NO REPAIR!!! WE HAVE GONE OVER THAT ISSUE FOR THE LAST 45 DAYS! This has been the WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE with a protection company and and SquareTrade (ALLSTATE) should just go out of business.

    When I purchased my tv from HSN in 2017 I included a 3 year protection plan. Tv had 2 years manufacturer warranty. Now Square Trade is telling me that their plan was running in conjunction with warranty. I have been told on another occasion, different product that I could not file a claim because of manufacturer warranty. In the future I will take my chance on manufacturer warranty since double coverage (manufacturer and Square Trade ) still left me with no coverage after only 3 years (2017-2020) instead of 5 years (2 years manufacturer warranty plus 3 years Square Trade Protection). Unless you have money to give away you might consider whether you want to get this plan.

    I went through hell with Squaretrade. I bought an iPhone from overseas and I don’t have a receipt because overseas everything is in cash and it wasn’t like an official Apple store but that doesn’t matter, the phone wasn’t stolen, they checked the serial number of it and everything came out good on Apple's website. Since the phone was bought overseas Apple didn’t fix it because they can only work on phones bought in the US for some reason. Anyways I got it as a gift from my grandpa who passed away a couple of weeks ago because of what is going on in the world right now. So we didn’t have a receipt and even if I wanted to get a receipt, my grandpa is dead, I couldn’t get one.

    When I called them when I got the phone they said when I file a claim on the phone all I need is the IMEI and Serial Number, they never said I needed a receipt. They made me go to the Apple store and get a paper saying they can’t fix it and made me go all around the state for proof the phone is mine and not stolen and after all that they still would not even take it. They have terrible customer service, the manager and supervisor were extremely rude, the manager's name was Joshua. If you get him on the call, he is very rude, and made some ignorant unnecessary racist remarks because I have a little of an accent. I went through hell with them and they have terrible service, and just all in all bad.

    The other reviews are bs, they don’t repair anything, all the other things people send in, they sell and use it for parts for other products, they stole my money and don’t give anything back in return. Do not waste your money with them. They are not reliable, and are rude, and ruined everything. I don’t have a phone now, I’m writing this from my laptop, and there is a pandemic, many people are dying and they couldn’t care less. I got everything they wanted and they keep making up stuff so I can keep paying them for nothing, they are liars and thieves. Thank you for your time.

    6/29/2020: So only after posting my review here did I receive a response letting me know that they have mice me forward in the claims process and I should be receiving a affidavit soon. Well, here again that email was date June 9... well over three weeks. I would have paid for overnight shipping of this form if need be. But the lack of care and consideration is alarming. They should refund me every dollar I spent on this scam of a warranty. This should not be the case to bring some resolution.

    Original review: I signed up and have been paying for SquareTrade for nearly two years. Never called to place a claim. Recently, my iPhone is deemed unrepairable by Apple and the only solution per Apple even though my warranty is out with them. Is to replace the phone. So I call SquareTrade and this is where 1. The lack of service begins. 2. The representative and her supervisor I spoke to were both overly aggressive which upset me so bad. 3. I felt like I was getting the run around. 4. The solution was for me to pay and get my phone replaced and the send in the receipt to get reimbursed. Really. I just can’t believe it. This company should be held accountable for not keeping up with its end of the bargain. Stop with all the loopholes and make it right. I have 4 other electronics with them, but I definitely cancelled my cellphone coverage. STAY AWAY. It is a SCAM.

    I purchased the extended warranty when I purchased my TV from Costco. My TV stopped working. SquareTrade approved it to get fixed however since Covid they said they could not send someone to fix it. This was not true. I know someone who does warranty work for them in a different areas and they are being sent into customers homes for repair by Square Trade.

    I then asked them to replace the TV rather than repair. They approved this however.... They offered me a very inferior TV compared to what I have. I had to escalate this and they finally approved a comparable TV. Note this took weeks!!!! Once they approved it they took a over 10 days to order the replacement. Apparently they purchased it from Amazon. To my surprise I guess Amazon ships to XPO Last mile and then they deliver it to my house. As of now I am 32 days in to my claim and per XPO I have to wait another 2 weeks to get the TV. That will put my at at least 45 days without a TV waiting on Square Trade. Every time I call I get “We will look into it and respond in 48 hours.” Imagine being somewhat in lockdown due to Covid and your looking at at least 45 days.... HORRIBLE service.

    The recent claim was for a bicycle and I don't know if it was just frustrating because of COVID going on but I felt that I kept getting the runaround. SquareTrade was telling me to take it to a bike shop but nobody is open. I said that if they could find me somebody open, I would take it. But they said I had to find somebody myself. So I tried to find somebody but there was nobody open. I called SquareTrade back and they told me to call the manufacturer. I tried telling the manufacturer but they don’t accept this for repair. They said they could send me the part if I wanted to buy the part but I didn’t even know what part it was. So then I had to do online chat and I kept going back and forth.

    Finally, SquareTrade said that they would pay out the cash for replacement value so that I could just go buy a new bike. But I still can’t afford to replace it because they don't give you the amount you paid for the bike. It was an expensive bike. It was over $200 because it was cruiser bike with hand brake. It was frustrating that the bike was just literally a month past a year and I lost $75 in value. Especially now with COVID, all the bike prices have gone up but I didn't even get the replacement value of what I paid for it, which I thought was kind of the point. I got about $170 but I also paid $50 for the warranty. Aside from the bike, we have SquareTrade on quite a few items and I'm hoping they work out better than this. But hopefully, those items don't need to be replaced.

    They may have been good in the past, but steer clear now (May 2020) - complete waste of money! Save your money for your next upgrade instead of the trash you will get. I had headphones with a two year coverage. They sent me a refurbished set that didn't work straight from the box. I returned that and got another refurbished set, that had the power button stop working within two weeks. I got another refurbished set that stopped working within 60 days. I still had 7 months on the warranty, but they said no we are done. I wish I would have gotten a new set because they are basically sending out junk. Watch out - you will probably get crappy refurbished stuff that won't last.

    Your SquareTrade coverage starts on the day you purchase the warranty - not when you take receipt of your warranted item. If you make an in-store purchase, no problem because you walk out with the warranted item. Coverage starts on the day you purchased the item. HOWEVER, if you purchase an item and warranty together online like I did (at Costco) the warranty will be initiated before the item will be shipped. For me it means I lost a week or more of coverage. PLUS Costco will not refund the warranty purchase once SquareTrade emails you the Plan Number (which is right away).

    I was going to cancel the warranty and then reorder it after I received the item. This is a small detail no one explains before hand. You can warrant your item with SquareTrade any time within 30 days of the original item purchase. You most likely want the protection that SquareTrade affords. Good. So do I. Just be aware of when you purchase your warranty in relation to when you receive your purchased item. Plan accordingly.

    Will never buy another policy again from SquareTrade. Very deceptive practice. Bought TV from a membership club. They gave the brochure that describes the coverage and salesperson told me covers everything bumper to bumper. Registered on-line. Never received the actual contract that I was told I should have received. I still have the original e-mail they sent me after registering and no contract was included. Tried to make claim for power surge damage from I am assuming lightning and now the fine print comes out. "We don't cover Acts of God! We cover power surges just not from lightning!" Should have just said power surge, cause nobody can prove whether it was just a power surge or lightning strike near by.

    I asked for the contract and the representative just kept saying, "You received an e-mail with it." Why not tell me, "I will send you one." People need to learn a lesson from this like I did, don't buy these extended warranties from companies (like Costco, SAMS, Walmart, Staples) unless they provide you with the actual contract, don't believe the person behind the counter. Buyer beware.

    My recent claim with SquareTrade was for a battery charger, like a laptop cord that connects to the laptop. It stopped working. I called up SquareTrade and they said it wasn't a year old yet. They told me that I needed to contact Apple. But then, Apple said that they don't cover that product. It was upsetting 'cause I had to go back and forth several times.

    Then, they sent me to an Apple reseller. Not only did I waste my time contacting Apple three times, then I had to go to a reseller. Now, because of COVID-19, I had to wait in line for an hour to get into the store, and then the store told me that, no, they don't do that. Then, SquareTrade told me that if it's within a year, that I needed a letter saying that they didn't take it back, and they wouldn't even give me a letter saying that they wouldn't take it. It was a real pain in the neck. Then finally, they didn't even replace it, they just sent me a check for half the value of the cord. The cord was $100 and they sent me a check for $68. I'm very dissatisfied because you buy it and they say they're gonna replace it, but then they give you a check for $68 is not replacing the item. I still had to spend extra money to buy a new item. It wasn't a very exciting experience.

    Updated on 05/29/2020: I am writing this as a follow-up to my review from earlier this week. Today I was contacted by their customer service department in an attempt to “explain the company’s reasoning". What they stated was that the use of the word snapped voided their need to stand behind their product because it implied force. On the day that I filed my claim and it was denied I immediately contacted customer service. I reiterated that in my initial explanation I made clear that there was no force that broke the object. It simply became disconnected. I immediately clarified that there was no force and therefore it fell under their policy of mechanical failure. When I explained that to the customer service representative today his response can be summarized as, it does not matter.

    Throughout the call it became very clear to me that this company attempts to use any wording to not stand by its product. It is truly disgraceful and I find it insulting that they would even attempt this weak explanation. I am truly sorry for anyone that must work for a company that does not stand behind its products and participates in these kinds of fraudulent practices. To close, please stay away from any of their services as I have no doubt that my call today further supports that this philosophy of ineptitude and fraudulence are core principals upon which they operate.

    Original Review: Please do not use this service. I never buy these kinds of warranties but took the chance on a set of Bluetooth headphones. I purchased the headphones through amazon along with the warranty. The earbud section of the headphone separated from the over ear portion. There was no accident. It just appeared that the bond between the 2 piece became loose. SquareTrade said it was an accident and therefore would not cover it. If this isn’t a mechanical failure then I don’t know what it covers? These people are simple lazy criminals.

    I submitted a claim to SquareTrade because my son spilled liquid on the laptop because he was messing around with the dog. They said that they were not gonna be able to repair it, so they were supposed to replace the difference off it. They did the claim and they processed everything. I sent back the laptop, they said they would send me a check. They sent me the check, I deposited the check, and within four days, the check came back bounced. It said, "Return to maker." I called SquareTrade and they were saying that they don't understand why that happened and if I tried to get in contact with the bank. I said no because I deposited the check in my account, so now, I'm contacting the company, which I got the check from because my bank had no problem accepting the check. I have yet to hear anybody call me back about it. Prior to now, I would recommend SquareTrade. This situation that's happened leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.

    The first time I did a claim with SquareTrade, I was actually surprised that it was so quick. It was within a week that everything worked out. It was for wireless headphones and since SquareTrade couldn't send me another set of the headphones, they just refunded me what it was worth, which was $40, so I could reorder another one. That's what I did and the claim went very smoothly. I did that thing online initially and then they sent me an email. They said I was gonna get the check in the mail and then I got it a few days after. I deposited it and I ordered a new pair of headphones, different ones, because they didn't have those anymore.

    Signed up for two premium plans. Squaretrade started charging me for three plans. I went to the website to contact them - could get only the "FAQ" questions page. Even the link titled "contact us" would not give a phone number. It only lets you put in a subject, and gives you canned responses on that subject. If your problem is not in the list, then you are out of luck.

    After searching through numerous links, finally got "chat." Time to respond is excessive - a minute or two for each response. Chat person obviously did not have English as a well-understood language. Responses ranged from basic understandable one-sentence answers (acceptable) to what seemed to be random phrases strung together (Unacceptable). Check their website and no matter how many links you click through, including "help" and "contact us," you will NOT find anywhere a phone number to talk to a live person. If you ever have a problem not listed in their standard problem list, then getting help is never going to happen. Horrible website, non-existent help!

    We bought their standard protection plan for 3 years on our TV. We were told that they would cover anything and everything. Well, they do not. I should have learned from Hurricane Harvey about being totally honest and transparent but I didn't. Apparently, lightning hit close to our home and knocked out the surge protector the TV was plugged into. They call it a natural disaster so they will not take care of us. I spoke with an insurance agent and was told it should have been categorized as an isolated incident since neighbors were not affected. I tried to talk to them again and asked for a manager who ended up with someone in Pakistan; I could not understand much but did get that they still were not standing by their protection plan. I would give a 0 if it was available.

    I purchased a prepaid phone for my son. When I filed my warranty claim, I wasn't even allowed to put in the correct phone model. It only gave one choice for a much cheaper phone in the drop down menu. After chatting with customer service and being told that my problem was fixed, it was not. It also took the representative SEVERAL minutes just to reply to a simple message. I had the phone for less than 2 weeks and am being reimbursed for $15 less than what I paid for it!     I Purchased a 65 inch Vizio television $1700 at Costco a few years ago and the attendant suggested that I purchase the $99 Square Trade 5 year extended warranty. He stated that if anything goes wrong they will replace it. Several months ago the television began taking longer and longer to warm up before it would actually turn on ultimately taking at least 30 minutes. I called square trade and they begin putting me through a series of self diagnostic checks which were ultimately just hoops that they wanted me to jump through in the hopes that I would lose interest. By the time they figured out that I wasn’t going away they scheduled me for a service call but due to the coronavirus said that the state was shut down and they could not perform service calls.

    After I eventually explain to them that our state had reopened and was service calls were happening on a regular basis they told me to take the TV to a local repair shop and they would pay for the repair. I proceeded to take my 65 inch television off the wall and to a repair shop who diagnosed it as unrepairable. I forwarded that information to which they responded they would send me “options“ for a replacement. They sent me one “option“ which was a 65 inch Hisense that is sold at Best Buy for $505. They told me that it had similar features and was an acceptable replacement. I explained that if I was driving a Mercedes-Benz and crashed it, the insurance company would not replace it with a Kia and say that it has a steering wheel and wheels so it has similar features.

    I have spent no less than 15 hours over the last six months trying to claim a warranty that I purchased on a $1700 television to no avail as of yet. Square trade is owned by Allstate and it is bordering on fraudulent the way that they operate. It’s difficult for me to believe that this is the same company that many people have rated with four and five stars. I will never! Never! Buy a square Trade warranty from Costco or anywhere else and suggest no one else does either.

    I bought a guitar on eBay and used Square trade for 2 years protection in September 2019. A couple of days ago the guitar stopped working with no musical sounds. I tried to contact square trade with no success, I signed up online on their website, and I couldn't file a claim. I tried chatting on line 4 times, with no success to file a claim. Finally the last person asked me to logout and log back in after 15 minutes to refresh the system, and when I did, the warranty for the item does not exist, information was changed and couldn't file a claim. And I still cannot file a claim.

    I bought a cell phone on Ebay, it was brand new n the box. I was offered the Square Trade warranty and purchased it. 8 months later the screen is lifting up off of the phone. It was not broken it was coming off of the phone and affecting its operation. The manufacturer would not cover it, said it was purchased from an unauthorized dealer. I was not worried, I purchased SquareTrade. Well I was told that it sounded like an accident and that they would not cover it. I was given no choice but to receive my money back for the purchase of the warranty. They don't cover accidents. IT WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT IT WAS A MECHANICAL FAILURE! The phone is coming apart and will not function properly! Don't rest easy people thinking your covered, the minute you believe they will take care of you, they will let you down. The first covers mechanical and electrical failures that occur during regular use of the item, and the second covers the same issues as well as any accidental drops or liquid contact. However, some resellers do not offer both plans.

    After the first year, some issues with the device are considered wear and tear. Due to the issues experienced occurring during the first year, they would be regarded as physical damage and not covered under the standard warranty.

    I bought a 65-inch Vizio and the manager was telling me that the SquareTrade insurance covered all damages. So, we purchased it. I called the store first when I filed a claim and they did nothing. They gave me a number to call again. They said the insurance was through them so I had to call them. The rep at SquareTrade was somewhat helpful. When I spoke to them, I thought they were gonna repair the Vizio regardless of the damage. But then, they emailed me and said it was probably self-damage and they weren’t able to handle it. At the time of purchase, it was explained differently to me. It’s not worth having.

    SquareTrade mirrors the manufacturer's coverage for our TV protection plans. Since TVs are intended to be stationary, not portable, accidental damage from handling is not covered or offered as additional coverage.

    The SquareTrade warranty contract states,  "What is not covered: Accidental damage, cracked or damaged monitor, laptop or display screens, liquid damage, lost buttons or knobs, etc. unless optional accidental damage from handling (ADH) coverage was offered and purchased at the time of sale with Your Protection Plan.

    In this instance, we were unable to approve your TV claim because the screen had signs of physical damage. Unfortunately, none of our TV policies cover accidental damage. Our TV warranties cover hardware and electrical failures due to regular use of the item, such as the item not powering on, distortion to the picture, and more.

    When you wear headphones a lot, different areas of the headphones could potentially break, which gave me the idea to buy a SquareTrade protection plan. If it was something else, I may not have because if it’s just sitting somewhere, nothing’s really gonna happen to it. But headphones makes a big difference and so, I thought it was important to have those. I bought the warranty through Amazon and I had to go back to them, go into my account and figure how to get that information over to SquareTrade. That was a little bit of an issue but I was finally able to figure that out. It was more of a user error. Other than that, it was perfect.

    I got the warranty at Walmart when I purchased my Lenovo all-in-one computer. When I had questions about the warranty, a lot of the cashiers were not trained thoroughly to explain, like they really had to pull pamphlet up and there was a lot of, “I think it does this or you should be able to do this.” There was no basic guarantee. But because I know about it, I took it anyway.

    I was using the computer one day and Lenovo sent me a message telling me that there's an update that needed to be installed. I tried to install the update, then once it was done, it asked me to restart the computer. But when I did the restart, the hard drive crashed because it wouldn’t boot up anymore. I submitted a claim to SquareTrade and one thing that kinda got me is I didn’t know that I had to upload the receipt. The cashier didn’t tell me that within a certain amount of time, I need to upload the receipt so I wouldn’t have to keep it. Because when my computer acted up and I went to the pamphlet that they gave me to try to file the claim, the receipt was pretty much faded out. So I didn’t have a lot of information that the website asked me about. Luckily, it was just some numbers that I was able to see through the receipt. I put it in, and they were able to find my warranty. After that, the process was kinda easy.

    The only thing I didn’t like was when I discussed the claims for the computer, they told me that the warranty doesn’t cover software issues and they told me I had to call the company. When I called the company, they told me I had to pay them like $100 just for them to give me some type of feedback on what to do. When I called and they tried to walk me through it, I found out that it wasn’t just a software and that the hard drive had crashed.

    The warranty portion and the customer service were fine. They helped me right away. They explained everything to me. They sound like they were concerned. They wanted to hurry up and get the issue taken care of. But it's part of their rules that they have to transfer the call over to technical support to try to diagnose the computer. But the tech support kinda felt like they didn’t wanna help me. They kept trying to push me off to either Lenovo or they tried to get me to purchase the flash drive for the operating system through Amazon. They pretty much treated me like I didn’t know what I was talking about.

    I had to call a couple of times. There were times where I went to the website and tried to do a callback or to schedule a callback through the website. I did it a few times and it wouldn’t go through, so I literally had to call them myself with the 1-800 number. The technical support is the poor part. But the customer service and SquareTrade themselves were great.

    Once I found out that the hard drive had crashed, I called back SquareTrade to edit the claim, and once I told them the issue, the process was pretty fast. They mailed me a FedEx box with a label. They told me to package the computer and send it back, or I could go to a repair center, pay for it, and they would reimburse me. I sent it off and I got it back yesterday.

    When I got the computer back, the bottom of the computer is cracked. The speaker is cracked. I had to squeeze some pieces back together, like I had to put a little bit of tape on it. I took pictures of it. So I did a survey and explained what happened. I also did a claim through FedEx but it's so much paperwork they want me to do to try to file that claim.

    SquareTrade installed the operating system back, but none of the drivers or software that Lenovo originally had in the computer that came factory installed is there anymore. It's basically a blank Windows computer. They wiped the computer completely. I don’t have any software. There's no Lenovo software in the computer at all. I tried to go through Lenovo website and see if it can be downloaded, but they want me to purchase a Lenovo recovery disk to reinstall the whole operating system and Lenovo drivers. But that’s 30 bucks plus shipping. It's like one thing after the other. Also, the power button is real shaky. In fact, I have to press it hard just to cut the computer on.

    We purchased a SquareTrade protection plan for $7 and if something goes wrong, you go on Walmart, file a claim and just follow the directions. I bought the extended warranty because you'll never know if something could go wrong and that you'll be covered. I had purchased a phone and it is all cracked up. It dropped a few times and the pictures are blurry. I'm not sure if the port is not charging the phone and so, I was wanting to try to file a claim and try to get another one. Instead of returning it, I tried to do a claim.

    I'm supposed to send it back and then I have to print out paperwork and do all that other stuff. It's a headache to do all that and be able to have to send the stuff back when they don't send you a return label or a box. You have to go and seek out all that. With all that's going on now, it's hard to print out anything. If you don't have your own printer with certain things being closed, the library is not open where I usually print out things that I need to. So, I have been unable to print out the label.

    In Aug 30, 2017, I was notified I was getting a reimbursement check from Squaretrade, from a care plan for a product they deemed unrepairable. They failed to deliver about 10 checks during aproximately 20 months. On May 2019 I requested a solution in the form of a gift card. They denied, and instead delivered to me a check, with the wrong name.

    After asking again, and another few undelivered checks, I got one that was under my name. When I took it to the bank, the teller informed me the check had to be verified before being cashed. I asked Squaretrade to do it, and even the bank called 2 people who were the ones responsible for the account. No one verified the check, and I let some more months pass by. A few weeks ago, I asked again for a gift card, and they offered to ship me another check. TLDR, Squaretrade has sent me dozens of checks in 3 years, and none of them could be cashed out, and won't allow for any other means of reimbursement (they usually do send gift cards). I feel like this company is trying to avoid reimbursing me $300 USD.

    I purchased a wireless vacuum cleaner from E-Bay with a Square Trade Warranty. They accepted my money immediately. After 3 uses the batteries would not take a charge. I contacted Square Trade for Warranty service. They wanted documentation on the purchase, which I sent. Since the item was purchased from China, the manufacturer, Auto Jare would not repair, replace or refund. I contacted Square Trade for refund and they refused to cover the item on the basis that it should be covered by the manufacturer, who will not cover the item. I have several Square Trade Items on different items. They misrepresent and refuse to cover their own warranty, so why do they take the money???

My Fitbit Charge 2 stopped working and the warranty from SquareTrade that I bought at Sam's Club should expire next year because I get an additional year of protection because I'm a Plus member since 1995.     I got an iPad 7th generation from Target and I have a million children, which is why I got SquareTrade for it. I also have other items and devices through SquareTrade. Having a protection plan is extremely valuable. I’ve had to put in two submissions to get the iPad screen fixed. And if I didn’t have that, I would have spent about $500 compared to just paying the SquareTrade insurance on it. So I saved 500 on it and I was pretty excited about that.

    It was very easy to put in your claim online. But I kinda hate that you have to send in your item. Then there's a wait until SquareTrade receives it, fixes it, and then ships it back. If you go and physically walk into a store, you can get your screen fixed that same day. With SquareTrade, I waited for five days or so, even with the virus going on, and the kids kept asking for it. I would recommend SquareTrade to any friend of mine, which are more of the mom crowd of getting an easy fix

    Appliances are very temperamental these days and electronically forward, which is not something anybody can work on easily and inexpensively. I got an extended warranty for my LG refrigerator and it’s funny because the compressor went out and it was still under warranty with LG. Nick, the gentleman I was working with, stayed with me through the whole thing. He told me he would contact LG for me and give them all the information. He not only took care of all that, but he also stayed on the phone when LG had questions for me. He said he would stay on as long as I needed him to. So, he was a rock star. He was awesome.

    The claim was cumbersome at the beginning. You have to jump through a couple of hoops and it would've been okay if the hoops were brought to the forefront. But you have to go and make a claim, wait a couple days, go from another person to transfer to a different department and you have to wait another day. It’s a refrigerator, so all of my food went bad but once it was approved, they were fantastic.

    If there was less then a star I would give them. They are thieves, don't waste your money, purchase 2 plans along with my eBay electronic purchase for 2-year warranty, took my money and never send me a receipt, when I called they said it's not on their system, I forwarded to them my bank statement showing that they took my money and the purchase I have on my eBay which has the order number and ID number. Still they said it is not sufficient and they can't locate it!!! And they are saying they can't refund me as well. It's been more than a week with the same outcome. No warranties and no money back even after contacting the manager. Finally, I got my money back from my bank as I filed a dispute and I am gonna contact consumer services. This is a joke. Waste of time and money.

    I wanted to have the peace of mind in the event that something happened that it would be taken care of. SquareTrade was offered at Walmart and submitting a claim with SquareTrade wasn't difficult. Sometimes it gets to be a pain though. It seemed every time that I tried to file a claim, they wanted to see a new receipt or the original receipt. It was already sent, it's in the profile. They have the information, and then they'd say, "We don't have your receipt." So then I had to dig and find it. All that information was sent to them by the store itself for the most part. Walmart does, Sam's does, it auto-imports to them. Why I need to find that receipt a year later or something of that nature is difficult. But other than that, it's okay. Having a protection plan is very valuable. The scooter was trashed, so they just sent me whatever the QuickPay was. So, I got a new scooter.

    I was offered the SquareTrade warranty at Staples and I just went ahead and purchased it. I filed a claim for an office chair, which I’ve had for probably a year and a half. The seams on the arm were starting to pull apart and then, the same thing on the top of the back was kinda going against the wall. Filing the claim was easy. You just go on their website and follow the directions. I got a response the next day so it was quick. They couldn’t find the color match and I even went back up to Staples the other day just to see if they had something, and they didn’t have it.
