    Once my claim was approved, the process moved rather quickly. I expected Square Trade to keep my laptop for 3-4 weeks. It was received by Square Trade on the 12th of August and it was delivered back to my on August 18th. The 4-star rating is based on the difficulty of getting the claim process started. The Square Trade representative told me it was the responsibility of Costco Concierge to repair the computer and Costco Concierge stated Square Trade had to repair the computer. Square Trade again told me it was the responsibility of Costco Concierge. I was going in circles between Square Trade and Costco Concierge until the Concierge representative spoke directly with Square Trade and the claim was finalized.

    Technician that finally did the repair was great! Process to report claim and schedule service was tedious. Repeating the same information to the customer service staff was painful. I had to make over 20 phone calls in a 2 week period to include a no show from the first company assigned. Not sure I’d recommend SquareTrade based on my experiences with the program. Again, stars reflect dissatisfaction with claims process and customer service ——— not the technician. I have had much better customer service experiences with other extended warranty programs.

    I have used SquareTrade for years & have always been happy & told everyone about it. Since Allstate took over.... IT SUCKS. It’s terrible customer service. I tried to file a claim thru the app & on the website but it won’t work. Chat from the app & online told me to call. I did that & the first three people only went thru the motions & DIDN’T LISTEN TO A THING I SAID. I told them we did a hard reset & that we couldn’t do a factory fresh reset because one of the many problems was there was no internet on the phone. So they send me instructions to do what I just told them we did & what we couldn’t do because of no internet on the phone.

    Finally the 4th fella Tajim. He was friggin awesome. He listened to what was going on & took complete care of the situation. Sending a claim # and shipping labels which no one else could do. Then we get an email that it was received & that was the last communication. I called to find out what was going on since we were told overnight to get there a day to fix or replace & overnight back. I was told tech would email me within 24 hours. Nope not hardly, they received it Friday. It came by FedEx on Tuesday. Go back to the customer service of when SquareTrade was new before Allstate. They took care of folks & charged a good price. Now the rates go up & customer service SUCKS except for one young man, Tajim that has integrity.

    I bought two coverages for my console items at Wal-Mart. I was told specifically by the employee that by purchasing this coverage it would protect my device from ANY damage including drops. After calling and waiting for their terrible answering system to route me to the right place I was placed in a call with an agent who would ask a question and then stop talking for periods at a time leaving me to ask if he was still there. Only for him to tell me that I was lied to by the employee and that I'm now out $108. Guess that means I can kiss my $300 and $500 coverages away! Worst coverage protection I've ever had the misfortune of purchasing.

    When the repair facility receives a device, an audit of the damages/issues takes place. During this audit, the tech tests for any irregularities. They also test the electrical components to see if they can isolate a failed part and factory reset the device to ensure that it is functioning to manufacturer standards.

    To avoid the repair procedure from being delayed or hindered completely, we request that the consumer disable restricting programs such as Find My iPhone before shipping the item to the repair center. If the app is active upon receiving the device, we reach out to the consumer via phone call and email to request that it be disabled remotely. We allow several days for the consumer to accomplish this before we ship the item back as unrepaired such as in this case.

    I paid for a 3 year extended warranty, due to expire in 2021. I had 1 claim on it and got a new one back on 3/19. That one also broke. When filing new claim I asked for Replacement, still same price I paid, was available on Amazon. First email said they were replacing it, but 2 minutes later they decided to refund the amount and end my contract. Assuming they couldn't find one, I agreed. Next day looked at Amazon and there it was. Should have checked sooner. Not fair at all. I feel cheated. Should have got a new one and my warranty still good till 2021. Bad business.

    A little over a year ago, I purchased a big screen "Smart Television" from a local retail store. It was a somewhat lofty price, but for a television of that size it was worth it. On check out, the gentleman at the store asked if I would like to purchase an "Extended Warranty". The added cost was minimal, so I thought about it for a moment and, due to the amount of electronics in today's "Smart Televisions", for the first time in my life I said "Yes" to an extended warranty. And I am so happy I did.

    Two weeks after the normal warranty expired (which is generally 1 year), the television just up and quit while I was watching it. I retrieved the receipt and the "Extended Warranty Brochure" from my records. I saw the name "SquareTrade" (the company used by Allstate to handle claims such as this) and called the number listed. What transpired over the next 10-15 minutes was the best Customer Service experience that I have ever received from a company. The well spoken and knowledgeable agent had me run thru some last ditch efforts to breathe life back into my dead television. After these efforts proved fruitless, she told me that the main logic board at its heart had failed and that this failure was covered by the extended warranty. She further advised that a check would be mailed the following day and that I would receive it within 3-5 working days and on day 4 I received the check.

    SquareTrade has made a believer out of me when it comes to purchasing extended warranties on high dollar electronics. The company should be proud of their Customer Service Agents because they set themselves apart from the rest.

    SquareTrade's response on 8/6/20 was NOT entirely accurate. While Erika from SquareTrade did call me on that date and we discussed the matter, I did NOT indicate to her that I was "satisfied". When she asked what I wanted to resolve the matter, I replied that I wanted to know what the actual status of my printer was. She promised to investigate and call me back by the next day. She also stated (as had the person I spoke with on 8/5/20) that the only way to communicate with the repair facility was via email. So, at the time SquareTrade posted its response I was not (and could not be) "satisfied" because I still didn't know what was going on with the printer, if and when I might get it back, etc.

    To Erika's credit, she did call me back the following day as promised and let me know that due to the unavailability of parts the printer could not be repaired and so SquareTrade would be refunding the purchase price to me. On 8/12/20 I received a check from SquareTrade in the correct amount.

    So here's the bottom line. SquareTrade did in the end honor their obligation to me, which is why I'm upgrading this review from 1 star to 3 stars. At the same time, I remain extremely dissatisfied with SquareTrade's communications, for the following reasons:
    1. I was twice falsely told my printer had already been repaired (and would soon be on its way back to me) when in fact the repair had not and could not be made.
    2. The person I spoke with on 8/5/20 never got back to me with the information she'd promised.
    3. The company falsely posted a response here claiming that both parties were satisfied, when in fact the matter was then unresolved.

    Original Review: Aug. 5, 2020

    After opening a claim with SquareTrade, as per their instructions I shipped my printer to them for repair. FedEx tracking showed that they received it on July 24. The repair time is supposed to be between 2 and 5 business days. Hearing nothing further from them, I called on July 31 to inquire, and was told that the repairs had been completed, that the printer was in the process of being shipped back to me, and that I would receive an email with tracking information.

    Still having heard nothing further from them, I called on August 5 and was told (for the first time) that after a repair is completed there must be an "audit" performed on the product before it is shipped, that the audit had been completed on August 3. When I asked why the printer still hadn't been shipped two days after completion of the audit, they had no answer but promised to investigate and call me back within 60 minutes. More than 90 minutes later, my phone rang and the caller ID said SquareTrade, but when I picked it up the line was dead. A little while later, I called again and was promised they would investigate further but now it would take up to an additional 48 hours for them to get back to me. The bottom line is this: SquareTrade is either incompetent, or just lies routinely to cover their poor service, or both.

    It's been a few years now, but I'll write all I can remember. I bought two identical TVs from Costco, I can't remember the size now, but they were both Vizios. A little over two years in one of the TVs started acting up. Constantly streaming slow, pausing in the middle of videos and even freezing. It got to the point where it had to be hard reset almost daily which caused it to need all info re-entered (Wifi, Netflix, YouTube, etc.) This was a major problem for my child cause that was all the TV was used for, she had no cable or ability to watch physical media. I switched TVs, since my other child wasn't using her TV at the time, but within a week the same thing happened.

    I contacted SquareTrade, which directed me to contact Vizio and dialed them up as well. I updated the TVs and some other software things (not sure exactly what). I believe they had me wait a day to see it that fixed, but it didn't. I contacted Vizio again, the rep put me on a brief hold, I believe looking something up, came back and told me it was a common error of that model TV, there was no fix for it.

    Vizio contacted SquareTrade, and I remember being on the call with both representatives, basically confirming information. Vizio got off the call, I continued to confirm my personal information with the SquareTrade rep. I was sent an email with the specs of the replacement TVs to review. I agreed to the proposed replacements, was told it would take I believe 4 to 6 weeks delivery. Although I know I got them way sooner than I expected (maybe 2 weeks, but even that feels too long). The new TVs had the remainder of the warranty transferred to it, but there was never a need to use it.

    I purchased my iPad Pro 12.9” on 30 October 2018 from Costco along with the SquareTrade extended warranty including accidents. I loved my iPad and promptly forgot about the extended warranty. Comes to July and I have cracked the screen. Not remembering my extended warranty, I went searching on eBay for a replacement screen and digitizer. I have replaced this item on a previous iPad as well as several iPhones so I knew it’d be a pain in the butt, I’d probably break the original 12.9” screen pulling it out but for $120 I’ll give it a go.

    I received the screen, took my original off (and broke the edges all off) went to put the new one on and found out the LCD portion is a different thing. Looking online, instead of $120, screens with the LCD are closer to $650 so it isn’t worth it, I’ll just buy new. Somehow I was wondering about AppleCare and that got me thinking of extended warranties so I went looking and sure enough I had a SquareTrade warranty on this iPad from 2018!!! Hot dang, accidents are covered let’s go!!! I went online trying to fill everything in so I don’t have to deal with the phone. I put the information in and went to Costco to get a paper receipt from 2018 proving I purchased this. Hot dog, SquareTrade will send me a check and make my replacement cheaper, woohoo!!!

    Claim submitted on 14 July with claim #**. The next day, I received a message detailing how to deactivate “Find My iPhone” from both iCloud and the device itself. Now, normally this wouldn’t be an issue but with the LCD broken, I cannot remove it from the iPad itself, I can merely turn it off in iCloud which will issue the ‘erase’ command next time this iPad Pro checks into iCloud.

    15 July - Received the remove “Find My iPhone” message and I complied with their request and emailed them back the details above… Removed from iCloud, can’t read the iPad. 15 July - Received a SECOND remove “Find My iPhone” email from Squaretrade. I, once again, let them know I’ve done what I can, can’t do the device. 16 July - Yup, same email again. I’m now frustrated. This is easy. I’ve done what I can, I am protected from accidents, nothing in the documents says this is something that MUST be done for repairs (yes, I have read the entire boring insurance document). This time I replied 3 different times with the same answer. Done.

    16 July - Oh, thank goodness, not another remove “Find My iPhone” mail, it’s different! No, while different now I’m told to deactivate find my iPad via iCloud. I have already done that, told them via email 5 times it’s done but they send me another email but this one is signed “Earnest” so at least there’s a human. 17 July - Earnest sends another remove “Find My iPad” email to me. I reply that I don’t know how many times I’ve detailed it but here it is again and I provide two paragraphs detailing what I’ve done and asking if they need a screenshot or photo of the iPad to understand it cannot be read.

    18 July - Earnest is gone, now just signed “SquareTrade Care Specialist” telling me to call because emailing back and forth is too hard. Okay, I call. First thing the phone tells me is the wait on hold will be very very long and I should do everything online to not waste my time. I hang up and try again. I detail what I’ve done, what I cannot do, explain the phone call wants me to hold for a long time and I don’t want to, gave my phone number and asked them to call whenever they are available to discuss this.

    19 July - This message was from “The SquareTrade Team” and gives me a link to Apple on how to “Turn off Activation Lock” which, details what to do on the device. I’m thinking SquareTrade is staffed with folks who ignore emails since I have told them again and again and again I cannot read the screen!!! My reply this time includes a photo (taken with my replacement iPad because waiting for Squaretrade would take forever) of my iPad and the screen and my complete inability to read anything.

    19 July - Earnest again! He emails me telling me to call again. I give in. I paid SquareTrade 2 years ago and they obvious will do everything they can to put my insurance on hold and not pay me so I call, wait on hold, get somebody, tell her I can’t see it and she tells me she is sending a return ticket and label for me to send it in.

    20 July - I receive an update on the claim saying it has been approved and I should ship the box back, okey doke, wrapped well, placed back in original Apple box, wrapped that in bubbles in a larger box and off to SquareTrade for repair. 28 July - Message that the iPad has arrived at the repair center, 2-5 days for repair and they express it back to me with 2-day shipping. Woo hoo again.

    29 July - Oh, goody, another remove “Find my iPhone” message but this one is signed by Miguel. I send back that as mentioned before, this is done. I also include a screenshot from iCloud showing that iPad is offline and has an erase pending. Somebody (unsigned) messages me back that it’s been powered on and I should remove Find My iPhone now. My message back again mentions I have said this again and again and again. iCloud sees the erase request from 14 July and when it is online again it will be erased. I can do nothing to force that but SquareTrade does need to get the iPad online, not merely turned on!!! How they think I can magically erase it powered on but disconnected is beyond my ability.

    That was my last message sent to SquareTrade yesterday at 1700 Mountain Time. This process is interminable. There is nothing in the paperwork that removing Find My iPhone is a requirement of repair and, frankly, with a busted LCD and screen, why do they give a crap? Just fix it and ship it or send me my $$$ and it’s done.

    So there we are. Squaretrade has had my claim since 14 July. Today is 30 July and I am still being asked to perform the first function I was asked to perform (and I did when first asked). Nobody there seems to understand my messages or they are not read or they believe I’m too slow to understand a 5 step process (step one is go to URL, step 5 is email Squaretrade back) for my claim.

    SquareTrade accepted my claim to fix a bad motherboard on my laptop. They kept the device for over three weeks. They only provide updates when asked via online chat, and the updates on return dates were almost always incorrect, missing a number of promised dates. When finally repaired and returned it, the laptop still didn't work correctly and I had to file a new claim. They've now had the device for well over a week again with no end in sight. The amount spent on the warranty is not worth the hassle, inconvenience, and time lost.

    Don't get me wrong, Square Trade is a great company and have come through for me numerous times. Though each time I opted to be reimbursed via a Walmart gift card. However, in May I decided I'd like to have the check, I really needed the money back after having to repurchase the phone. Well, here it is almost August, and still I have not received this check. Two checks have been mailed and voided.

    Today I called and asked to just have the reimbursement as a gift card (they email these within 24 hours usually) and they told me that once it has been decided in the claim and approved for a check that they could not change how it is paid out. Just to be clear and thorough, I had contacted the post office to be sure there weren't any issues on their end and there was not or hasn't been.

    I spoke to a square trade representative three weeks ago to update my address and they DID NOT notate the account nor did they have another check sent out. Last night I chatted with one of their representatives and gave them the new address, and I have completed two surveys and in both surveys have submitted the information about not receiving the check and have submitted the new address. I give this information because as of today, July 28th, when I talked to another representative and a supervisor, my address still had not been changed. So they're sending out another check, I'm not going to hold my breath but I'm hoping that it comes. If not, I guess I will be calling them again. They say 5 business days. I will come and update this review once there's finally a resolution.

    The video card went bad in my PC. Due to Covid19 I could not ship it anywhere, nor take it in for repair. They refused to ship me a video card so I could make the repair. It took me almost 3 months of arguing and repeated phone calls, but eventually they decided to refund me the cost of the computer. Later received another e mail informing parts were in back order and following day a new one informing new TV was approved as replacement. In the schedule day TV was not delivered neither received any call informing delay or justifying no show. Called again Square Trade and was told to wait 2 business days for a new e mail to follow up situation. 2 things you need know - I bought guarantee for a TV over $1000 and getting (whenever arrives) a replacement TV with cost $505,99. Calling customer service is useless as they go by script and you get no information.

    I purchased a Square Trade warranty when I bought an electric toothbrush handle on eBay. The handle failed within a year and I sought relief via Square Trade. Using their website was a nightmare as they took information and then suggested I contact the manufacturer. When I called to say it was not a manufacturer issue as I had purchased the product on eBay, they quickly sent a link for me to continue the claim online, but then I hit the same 'contact the manufacturer' roadblock. I had to call again and was finally able to place the claim through a telephone agent. While they did settle the claim and issue a check, it was for less than the purchase price. It was the amount they decided was fair. I learned my lesson. Clearly I'm better off making the purchase from the manufacturer and let them stand behind their product rather than trust an iffy warranty.

    Oftentimes, companies put the customer on the defensive, but SquareTrade representatives validated all of my evidence and my effort in trying to resolve my claim with the manufacturer and resolved it themselves. I've purchased at least one or two other SquareTrade policies in the past, but I always wondered if it was a sham. My most recent purchase was a 2-year policy for my leaf blower and it broke down after about 6 months. I contacted SquareTrade and I was notified to contact the manufacturer first since it was under one year.

    It was a Craftsman blower and I had to wait for close to an hour to speak with a customer service representative. I told the representative that I purchased the item on eBay and was given a few telephone numbers for shops to repair it. After it was in the shop for about 4 weeks, I was contacted to indicate that the blower could not be fixed and it was also a five-year old blower and no longer under warranty. I contacted SquareTrade and spoke with the first representative who very professional and requested proof of purchase.

    After emailing the required documents, I called in again about 20 minutes later and spoke with a second representative who was also very professional and continued with the claim. She transferred me to a third representative because my device was gas-powered and not electric. The third representative treated me with such kindness and made me feel comfortable and valued. Everything was resolved in less time that it took me to contact the one representative from Craftsman. Thank you SquareTrade! I will definitely purchase your product again!

    The corporate resolution of Square Trade responded with a solution to pay me for the broken phone since I had already purchased a new phone and would find out why their claims department chose not to resolve issue after I had followed their instructions and taken it an authorized repair store.

    I had a phone problem that I submitted in Feb. 2020. The Square Trade rep said it was probably because of an update that it needed (The phone wouldn't start up with out being plug into the USB). Finally agreed to wait for update which did not fix the problem. Check with the manufacture and was told it was hardware. They sent me to an Authorized repair shop that said is was not repairable and gave me paperwork to send to Square Trade which I did. Called last week and was told they would find a phone and send one and I could return my phone. Never heard anything after 4 days and called back and was told they would have to restart the claim. I was told I would be emailed a resolution in 24 hrs. (Heard nothing.)

    Called again and was told I need to take to a local authorized deal. I told him I already had and it was deemed unrepairable and I had sent them all the paper days ago. I finally talked to a supervisor that said regardless of what I had been told previously I now need to send the phone to them so they could make the determination which meant I would be without a phone for a number of days. I said that's not acceptable and she tells me that what my contract says. So more double talk. Went and bought a new phone and called to cancel the warranty. He tells me he is sorry and if it were up to him he would resolved the problem and asks for another chance and said he wanted to transfer me back to the claim department. I am so done with Square Trade and will never do business with them again or Allstate for that matter. At this time they still have not cancelled my warranty.

They have a kind courteous staff to assist you and to take care of you should the need arise. We have used their service on things that haven't required repair and on stuff that has required.

    When you need them they are there, that is what counts. We have been delighted in both cases, it is nice when something you care about last and it is equally as nice when that thing fails and Square Trade helps you out.     I purchased this S/T plan when I bought the phone on Ebay. Used the phone for over a year without issue, but then. I filed a claim with S/T after a local shop told me it could not be fixed. I had an issue the first time I tried to make the application online, as I had no way to submit the receipt I had received via Email. You only take screenshots and it was not something I could figure out. You had all the info, but could not do anything without a picture of a paper. You are suppose to be paperless? I finally figured out how to make the screen really small so I could get all the Email into one image. By the time I got this figured out I had wasted a couple hours on the phone with your people, and even more time getting everything done twice.

    In the end it was fast, and easy and your people were great all the way through. I thoroughly am pleased with S/T and will continue to use it and recommend it. I went into great detail about my issues, and I do think you can streamline that easily if you wanted to. I can see how you can shave the easy 10% off the top by adding a few whoops, but in honesty I've spent more on S/T than I have collected, and I am sure the same is true with all your accounts. Unfortunately, whenever I need to speak with someone on the phone, I am talking to someone in India or Pakistan who thinks it is appropriate to constantly try to speak over me, thinks that by repeating themselves I will suddenly agree that what they are saying is no longer incorrect, or their English skills are so bad that I can barely understand what they are saying.     We ordered a pool cleaner from Amazon. After about a year it quit working. At the time we purchased the pool cleaner we also purchased an extended warranty from Square Trade.     Initially I sent my Fitbit in some time in May due to it shutting off for no apparent reason. My Fitbit was at one of your locations for 7 day and then upon getting it back the heart rate started not working, at first it would sit on at 88 bpm while doing anything (running, walking, resting etc.). I sent it back at that point and again the center had it for 7 days telling me everything was working fine. While it was at the center I got no updates unless I called at that was after the initial 2-5 day that I was told. Again upon getting it back my Fitbit continues to get worst now. It no longer reads anything in the heart rate section and the battery now only last a Day.

    When I called again to report my complaint I was told, that the center doesn’t fix intermittent issues (it has not been intermittent. It is continual). I have to find somewhere else to take it, And have a report sent to the center, while a global pandemic is going on and most places are close. I now have a improper functioning Fitbit, I guess until places reopen. Which is totally unfair especially after the center had my Fitbit on two separate occasions and yet every day this thing is not function proper.

    I bought my son some headphones from Office Depot back in March of 2020. They broke so I was chatting with someone from SquareTrade because I purchased their warranty. The person that I was chatting with decided he didn't want to give me a full refund, so he canceled my protection plan and is only refunding me the cost of the protection plan. Which is $5. I spent almost $60 on the purchase but Square Trade will only give me a refund of $5. I'm a single mom who's struggling financially, so $5 really does not help me at all!!!! I will NEVER buy a Square One protection plan/warranty again and I suggest that no one else buys them either. They are a scam!!!! They are not there to help you when what you purchased breaks.     They do not honor their contract. The charging cable malfunctioned according to Apple and I need a new one. They claim that they do not cover the phone accessories but that is not in the exclusions in the contract. Customer service provided me with the contract and it was nowhere to be found.     I made a claim about a phone and was told to take my device to Best Buy and I would be reimbursed. Due to Covid I was not able to go and my claim was closed. Now that stores are back open, I tried to open another claim by speaking to customer service and was told that because there was a small crack in the screen, I would not be covered for the mechanical issue.     I used Squaretrade once before and received a fast result because they didn't want me to send in the item for repair. This time I had to send my laser printer in for repair. The transit time for FedEx was over twenty days as the printer sat in the FedEx warehouse waiting to be delivered. I complained to Squaretrade and they sent me a $50 check for my inconvenience. Once they got the printer, it was "repaired" quickly and returned to me. My one star review lies with the fact that the printer was not only NOT repaired, it was in worse condition than when I sent it in.

    I immediately called, was put through two or three people and was told it had to be sent in again. What!? At this point they should have just written me a check for the item but, no, I had to pack it up again and lug it down to the FedEx at a local Walgreens. That was on June 12; today is June 26 and I've just received an email stating that it cannot be repaired and they will be sending me a check. I'm really steamed! I've been without my business printer since May 4, 2020. I now must wait another 7-10 BUSINESS days for the check. By the time I have a payout in my hand, it will have been over TWO months since this whole fiasco of a saga began. I'm done with SquareTrade.

    I purchased a brand new bike from a retail store along with a referred company to come assemble the bike and this warranty. The bike was never put together right and parts were broken.     UPDATED 07/01/2020: SQUARETRADE IS AVOIDING WARRANTY OBLIGATIONS. Great service until now. No resolution or satisfactory response from company. I have two Fire 10 tablets from Amazon with receipts and a warranty on both of them. I have used this warranty 3 times since November 2018 with no issues. Both tablets have been dropped and need to be replaced. I have made 3 calls to Square Trade in the last month and they are stalling by asking me questions from two years ago that I cannot answer. Both tablets have been dropped and need to be replaced. I have made 3 calls to Square Trade in the last month and they are stalling by asking me questions from two years ago that I cannot answer. I did not have these issues previously. Avoid Square Trade Warranties. They are avoiding my claims they are obligated to cover. I am writing the Better Business Bureau today.

I never buy warranties but I figured let me take the hassle out of warranty claims and the cost was about 15% of the item so it's not going to kill me. I'm currently having an issue with my computer where it overheats and the computer shuts down. I call Square Trade and they tell me, "Call HP. You're still covered by them??!?" Why would I buy a 1 YEAR warranty with you when the manufacturer was going to cover me anyway?!?!     I would absolutely not recommend buying a warranty with Square Trade. I bought a laptop through Office Max/Depot last year and the laptop broke (hard drive issues). I have spent 12 days, 13 phone calls (hours and hours on the phone with people who couldn't/wouldn't help), 2 store visits, and the end result is that they have passed me off to get help elsewhere. I paid $89.99 for a useless warranty. Do not purchase a warranty with them. If you need it, you will only run into extreme frustration and being passed off.

    I was told about 3 weeks ago that I was going to be sent an empty box to ship my laptop to you with directions on what to do next and none of that ever came to me.     I purchased a product that has since stopped working, I called to open a claim and I was told I have to do it online because that's the way you have to' , then why have a call center? So I started the claim online and then had to call back. When I did I had the unfortunate displeasure of speaking with shanice. She was not only rude, but was not very accommodating to try to help and then she hung up on me. Then when I was able to find the warranty info online, I was told to call the manufacturer. If they wont honor the warranty, then why offer it? If customer service refuses to help, then why have a customer service number?

    Whenever I bought electronic stuffs, I always bought SquareTrade's insurance for them. Never had a chance to use it until now. My TV's screen went black in just 3.5 years of use so I called SquareTrade to report it. They requested the following information: "In order to proceed with your claim we required a repair invoice clearly showing (1) Store name, (2) Store physical address, (3) Store phone number (4) An email address for the store (5) Description of the repair that was done and (6) Repair date." ALL THIS INFORMATION IS ON THE RECEIPT! THERE IS NO REPAIR!!! WE HAVE GONE OVER THAT ISSUE FOR THE LAST 45 DAYS! This has been the WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE with a protection company and and SquareTrade (ALLSTATE) should just go out of business.

    When I purchased my tv from HSN in 2017 I included a 3 year protection plan. Tv had 2 years manufacturer warranty. Now Square Trade is telling me that their plan was running in conjunction with warranty. I have been told on another occasion, different product that I could not file a claim because of manufacturer warranty. In the future I will take my chance on manufacturer warranty since double coverage (manufacturer and Square Trade ) still left me with no coverage after only 3 years (2017-2020) instead of 5 years (2 years manufacturer warranty plus 3 years Square Trade Protection). Unless you have money to give away you might consider whether you want to get this plan.

    I went through hell with Squaretrade. I bought an iPhone from overseas and I don’t have a receipt because overseas everything is in cash and it wasn’t like an official Apple store but that doesn’t matter, the phone wasn’t stolen, they checked the serial number of it and everything came out good on Apple's website. Since the phone was bought overseas Apple didn’t fix it because they can only work on phones bought in the US for some reason. Anyways I got it as a gift from my grandpa who passed away a couple of weeks ago because of what is going on in the world right now. So we didn’t have a receipt and even if I wanted to get a receipt, my grandpa is dead, I couldn’t get one.

    When I called them when I got the phone they said when I file a claim on the phone all I need is the IMEI and Serial Number, they never said I needed a receipt. They made me go to the Apple store and get a paper saying they can’t fix it and made me go all around the state for proof the phone is mine and not stolen and after all that they still would not even take it. They have terrible customer service, the manager and supervisor were extremely rude, the manager's name was Joshua. If you get him on the call, he is very rude, and made some ignorant unnecessary racist remarks because I have a little of an accent. I went through hell with them and they have terrible service, and just all in all bad.

    The other reviews are bs, they don’t repair anything, all the other things people send in, they sell and use it for parts for other products, they stole my money and don’t give anything back in return. Do not waste your money with them. They are not reliable, and are rude, and ruined everything. I don’t have a phone now, I’m writing this from my laptop, and there is a pandemic, many people are dying and they couldn’t care less. I got everything they wanted and they keep making up stuff so I can keep paying them for nothing, they are liars and thieves. Thank you for your time.

    6/29/2020: So only after posting my review here did I receive a response letting me know that they have mice me forward in the claims process and I should be receiving a affidavit soon. Well, here again that email was date June 9... well over three weeks. I would have paid for overnight shipping of this form if need be. But the lack of care and consideration is alarming. They should refund me every dollar I spent on this scam of a warranty. This should not be the case to bring some resolution.

    I purchased the extended warranty when I purchased my TV from Costco. My TV stopped working. SquareTrade approved it to get fixed however since Covid they said they could not send someone to fix it. This was not true. I know someone who does warranty work for them in a different areas and they are being sent into customers homes for repair by Square Trade.

    I then asked them to replace the TV rather than repair. They approved this however.... They offered me a very inferior TV compared to what I have. I had to escalate this and they finally approved a comparable TV. Note this took weeks!!!! Once they approved it they took a over 10 days to order the replacement. Apparently they purchased it from Amazon. To my surprise I guess Amazon ships to XPO Last mile and then they deliver it to my house. As of now I am 32 days in to my claim and per XPO I have to wait another 2 weeks to get the TV. That will put my at at least 45 days without a TV waiting on Square Trade. Every time I call I get “We will look into it and respond in 48 hours.” Imagine being somewhat in lockdown due to Covid and your looking at at least 45 days.... HORRIBLE service.

    The recent claim was for a bicycle and I don't know if it was just frustrating because of COVID going on but I felt that I kept getting the runaround. SquareTrade was telling me to take it to a bike shop but nobody is open. I said that if they could find me somebody open, I would take it. But they said I had to find somebody myself. So I tried to find somebody but there was nobody open. I called SquareTrade back and they told me to call the manufacturer. I tried telling the manufacturer but they don’t accept this for repair. They said they could send me the part if I wanted to buy the part but I didn’t even know what part it was. So then I had to do online chat and I kept going back and forth.

    Finally, SquareTrade said that they would pay out the cash for replacement value so that I could just go buy a new bike. But I still can’t afford to replace it because they don't give you the amount you paid for the bike. It was an expensive bike. It was over $200 because it was cruiser bike with hand brake. It was frustrating that the bike was just literally a month past a year and I lost $75 in value. Especially now with COVID, all the bike prices have gone up but I didn't even get the replacement value of what I paid for it, which I thought was kind of the point. I got about $170 but I also paid $50 for the warranty. Aside from the bike, we have SquareTrade on quite a few items and I'm hoping they work out better than this. But hopefully, those items don't need to be replaced.

    They may have been good in the past, but steer clear now (May 2020) - complete waste of money! Save your money for your next upgrade instead of the trash you will get. I had headphones with a two year coverage. They sent me a refurbished set that didn't work straight from the box. I returned that and got another refurbished set, that had the power button stop working within two weeks. I got another refurbished set that stopped working within 60 days. I still had 7 months on the warranty, but they said no we are done. I wish I would have gotten a new set because they are basically sending out junk. Watch out - you will probably get crappy refurbished stuff that won't last.

    Your SquareTrade coverage starts on the day you purchase the warranty - not when you take receipt of your warranted item. If you make an in-store purchase, no problem because you walk out with the warranted item. Coverage starts on the day you purchased the item. HOWEVER, if you purchase an item and warranty together online like I did (at Costco) the warranty will be initiated before the item will be shipped. For me it means I lost a week or more of coverage. PLUS Costco will not refund the warranty purchase once SquareTrade emails you the Plan Number (which is right away).

    I was going to cancel the warranty and then reorder it after I received the item. This is a small detail no one explains before hand. You can warrant your item with SquareTrade any time within 30 days of the original item purchase. You most likely want the protection that SquareTrade affords. Good. So do I. Just be aware of when you purchase your warranty in relation to when you receive your purchased item. Plan accordingly.

Plain and simple, the representative lacked the personality to be working in the "customer service" field.     Will never buy another policy again from SquareTrade. Very deceptive practice. Bought TV from a membership club. They gave the brochure that describes the coverage and salesperson told me covers everything bumper to bumper. Registered on-line. Never received the actual contract that I was told I should have received. I still have the original e-mail they sent me after registering and no contract was included. Tried to make claim for power surge damage from I am assuming lightning and now the fine print comes out. "We don't cover Acts of God! We cover power surges just not from lightning!" Should have just said power surge, cause nobody can prove whether it was just a power surge or lightning strike near by.

    I asked for the contract and the representative just kept saying, "You received an e-mail with it." Why not tell me, "I will send you one." People need to learn a lesson from this like I did, don't buy these extended warranties from companies (like Costco, SAMS, Walmart, Staples) unless they provide you with the actual contract, don't believe the person behind the counter. Buyer beware.

    My recent claim with SquareTrade was for a battery charger, like a laptop cord that connects to the laptop. It stopped working. I called up SquareTrade and they said it wasn't a year old yet. They told me that I needed to contact Apple. But then, Apple said that they don't cover that product. It was upsetting 'cause I had to go back and forth several times.

    Then, they sent me to an Apple reseller. Not only did I waste my time contacting Apple three times, then I had to go to a reseller. Now, because of COVID-19, I had to wait in line for an hour to get into the store, and then the store told me that, no, they don't do that. Then, SquareTrade told me that if it's within a year, that I needed a letter saying that they didn't take it back, and they wouldn't even give me a letter saying that they wouldn't take it. It was a real pain in the neck. Then finally, they didn't even replace it, they just sent me a check for half the value of the cord. The cord was $100 and they sent me a check for $68. I'm very dissatisfied because you buy it and they say they're gonna replace it, but then they give you a check for $68 is not replacing the item. I still had to spend extra money to buy a new item. It wasn't a very exciting experience.

    I owned a Dell computer that I had owned for about 15 months. The battery had basically quit taking a charge. I took it into Office Depot where I purchased the unit. They explained the process and basically said that I needed to file a claim with Square Trade. Skeptical at first but all my concerns were addressed. Frank the technician I worked with was excellent. He explained what I needed to do and what documentation I needed to submit. I did and within a short time, I had a new battery and a claim check tor reimburse me. The only delay was with Dell and that the battery shipment was delayed a couple of times but once I received it, Frank made sure I got the check to pay for it as quick as he promised.     Purchased an extended warranty for a children's tablet and was told that this warranty would cover any accident or defect that may occur. The tablet was dropped and the screen cracked. When I contacted Square Trade, I was told that it did not cover cracked screens! What is the main reason you would purchase a warranty for a kid's tablet??     Updated on 05/29/2020: I am writing this as a follow-up to my review from earlier this week. Today I was contacted by their customer service department in an attempt to “explain the company’s reasoning". What they stated was that the use of the word snapped voided their need to stand behind their product because it implied force. On the day that I filed my claim and it was denied I immediately contacted customer service. I reiterated that in my initial explanation I made clear that there was no force that broke the object. It simply became disconnected. I immediately clarified that there was no force and therefore it fell under their policy of mechanical failure. When I explained that to the customer service representative today his response can be summarized as, it does not matter.

    Throughout the call it became very clear to me that this company attempts to use any wording to not stand by its product. It is truly disgraceful and I find it insulting that they would even attempt this weak explanation. I am truly sorry for anyone that must work for a company that does not stand behind its products and participates in these kinds of fraudulent practices. To close, please stay away from any of their services as I have no doubt that my call today further supports that this philosophy of ineptitude and fraudulence are core principals upon which they operate.

    Original Review: Please do not use this service. I never buy these kinds of warranties but took the chance on a set of Bluetooth headphones. I purchased the headphones through amazon along with the warranty. The earbud section of the headphone separated from the over ear portion. There was no accident. It just appeared that the bond between the 2 piece became loose. SquareTrade said it was an accident and therefore would not cover it. If this isn’t a mechanical failure then I don’t know what it covers? These people are simple lazy criminals.

I couldn't do the claim online because it said that there was a warranty to contact Microsoft, but I couldn't contact Microsoft. Because it was purchased less than a year ago and that there should be a one-year warranty on it, but there's not. So I just called SquareTrade and then the guy said, "Oh, yeah. No problem.
