I think the whole team handled everything from the claim to the outcome efficiently and beautifully. Talk to the representatives was just amazing! They were very courtesy and listened very carefully with the utmost patience. They treated me with dignity and total respect. I highly recommend Squaretrade. They replaced my TV asap. Which I'm very grateful for. The service was great and very fast and efficient.

There's been a couple times where I found out that I purchased the warranty but it didn't cover what actually happened to whatever it was. But usually, the claims process is pretty painless. From start to finish, the claim would be resolved in about a week or two. But before purchasing the warranty, they should be more upfront about what is covered and what isn't covered. I bought the warranty for my kids' game controllers and came to find out that if a knob broke off, it wasn't necessarily covered, but if something internal happened, it was covered. I would have bought it more for one than the other.

Insurance coverage very misleading when it comes to filing a claim. Nobody wants to help. Nobody explains to you that there's different types of coverage. All they care about is selling you something and once there is a problem they pretty much just tell you sorry about your luck.
Hello Alma,
We apologize for any inconvenience and frustration faced during your recent claim.
SquareTrade offers two types of plans: Standard and Accidental. Our Standard plan covers mechanical and electrical malfunction, while the Accidental plan includes accidental drops or liquid contact. In this case, the item was covered under our Standard Protection plan, which does not protect against physical damage. While SquareTrade does our best to assist all of our consumers, we can only approve claims within the specifications of the coverage purchased.
At this time, one of our specialists has reached out to you to address this matter and to provide additional support.
Thank you,

Was happy with the prompt service. Only thing I was unhappy with was, all I wanted was a replacement leg. They sent me a check that was not enough to replace the chair as you can't order just one. The check was about $43 short of ordering a set.

However, I wasn't completely satisfied with the replacement amount. I would purchased the warranty coverage again, and recently purchased Square Trade warranty on another vacuum.

I was frustrated by the online experience creating the claim. The person I spoke to after that was helpful. The computer was fixed pretty quickly and seems to be working well. Computer was sent back with Fed Ex. They said it would be here on a Tuesday and an adult would have to sign. We rearranged our whole week to accommodate, but on Tuesday, found out the computer wouldn’t arrive until Wednesday. (12 hour window. Seriously?) I figured we would have to chase it down at the shipping hub, but they just left the computer on the doorstep.

My Lenovo Yoga laptop, which was less than 3 years old, recently experienced some odd issues. First, the camera was slowly going bad for an unknown reason, and second, the laptop wouldn't charge or hold power without being plugged in (it was in some extremely cold weather, so I suspect that's what caused this issue). I was relieved to discover I had purchased a three-year SquareTrade warranty, otherwise, my nearly $1,000 unit would be a big question mark. After a few back and forths on the phone with the SquareTrade team, I mailed the laptop in, and it was returned within two weeks. Fortunately, I have a PC to use. Although fixed, I'm frustrated that the tech didn't really say what she did to fix the problems, particularly the suspected charging port issue. She only checked off the boxes of the functionality and visual tests she ran. I'm happy to have it repaired and back, but wish I knew how she solved the problems.

Square Trade rep was helpful and very accommodating. When I purchased it from Best Buy in 2018, there was no mention of a deductible nor does it appear in my paperwork. When she mentioned I owed it, this was new information to me, she asked her Manager if it could be removed. This was most appreciated! The claim was processed within 10 min and I was able to get my screen replaced same day!

I always buy SquareTrade and I've had really good luck with it. I got coverage for a Dell Computer I invested $1300 in. Submitting a claim to SquareTrade was easy. I went online, registered the item I had, and submitted a request to get it replaced. They were great about it and gave me a couple of options. It didn't take more than 10 minutes. The only tricky part I had was that when I went to use the voucher for credits on the item I purchased, I couldn't use it at the self-checkout counter. I had to have a regular cashier help me out with my order.

I purchased a drone from Sam's Club. It had a lot of moving parts and for only five bucks, SquareTrade's protection plan seemed like it was worth getting. It ended up being important as one of the motors failed. I had to go through the manufacturer's warranty first. When they were not able to resolve and repair the item under the one year warranty, I called SquareTrade. I had to submit evidence of the time that I contacted the manufacturers, send in serial numbers, and evidence of purchase. They gave me a prorated gift card for a decent chunk of the purchase price.

Submitting a claim to Allstate was really easy. I was surprised how easy it was. I googled Walmart protection plan, and it popped up. Luckily, I registered it and had all that on there. I just clicked on file a claim, answered the question that it provided, and then it gave me a couple different options. I just picked the cash out option. Then, within five minutes or less, I got a gift card emailed to me. The service is really beneficial because I used that claim money to go out and buy my kid a new controller, and I bought the protection plan for it as well.

I had purchased Squaretrade for a tv bought on Amazon a couple years ago. At first, the service was great. They determined my TV needed to be replaced, which they did. After they sent the replacement TV, I noticed that was too was damaged. According to their policy, they would order a new replacement TV once the damaged one had been picked up. Well that was a total LIE. It has been 4 days now since the TV has been picked up by BestBuy per Squaretrade's request, I have contacted Squaretrade 4 times since then, and they keep telling me they are "working on it". Their policies are completely inaccurate or someone is sleeping on the job. It's been days now without a TV that I initially spent thousands on, and the service and lies from Squaretrade has been terrible. At this point, If I don't hear back by end of week I will have to contact someone with higher authority and spread the experience with media. I am very disappointed.

We've had such a history of printers not lasting very long and causing problems. I bought a SquareTrade protection plan through Staples for my son who was in school at the time. I didn't want him to deal with finding another printer when this one went out. When we did a claim, it was very easy. I still had the brochure that I should have read before I went to the store, but I was under the initial impression that it was more store related.
I went back to Staples with the printer expecting it to be a direct exchange, but it wasn't that type of warranty. I found the directions on the brochure and submitted the claim. I got almost same day responses and then they gave me a couple options as to whether to have it fixed, replaced or reimbursed and go out and buy my own. I chose the third option and I got the reimbursement check last week, so it went about a couple weeks. It went smoothly.

I bought a 3-year warranty for a reclining chair in September of 2018. Now, there are some mechanical issues with the chair where sometimes it reclines, and sometimes it doesn’t. When it’s plugged in, it makes a lot and lot of noise and I don’t know if it’s the motor. The chair seems to get very warm in the seats as well, so I filed a claim. The first time, I had difficulty doing it, but they helped me. I was supposed to get an email that somebody was going to reach out to me. I never got the email. It could have went in my junk folder. When I got back in touch with them the second time, the guy said, “Hold on. I’m sending you an email now.”
I searched my email, and it was in my junk folder. That was Thursday that I reached back out to them, and he said somebody would be in touch with me in three days. Thus far, I'm still waiting to hear from SquareTrade. It’s been a while and I may have to end up purchasing a new chair for my mom because she needs it. I bought this warranty, and I was hoping that it was worth something, but it doesn't seem to be the case.

I’m a PC builder and usually, when I buy PC components (and if there is an option), I try to make sure each part is covered. That way, I don't have to go through the long arduous process of RMA, if I had that option. Sometimes I buy my parts used and sometimes the warranty service isn’t available with a used part. I bought a 750 watt power supply from Amazon in 2017 and I purchased a SquareTrade policy through that.
My experience was perfect all around. I had no idea I was going to have an issue with the power supply breaking down on me, so the policy came in handy. At first, I had completely forgotten about it. I was scrolling through my email, and I saw the initial confirmation from when I bought it then I remembered, “Oh, I have this part insured.” I've been thinking about going through and seeing if I can get a policy for either my computer or my phone as well.

I have a baby at home and I know stuff happens with babies around the house. I decided to get a protection plan and SquareTrade offered affordability. I just keep the purchase and it covered the whole television set. When there was a black line running down the screen, I called the concierge service and they transferred us. We went through the whole troubleshooting. The only issue I had, I could tell it was an internet connection phone call because I would talk, I would hear myself, and then they would answer me. Other than that, everything was good. It was an easy and speedy process. The rep I talked to was very professional and knowledgeable. Once I got through to SquareTrade, he didn't make me do the whole troubleshooting again. He's like, "You already done it. Let's just move forward from here." All in all, having the plan is very valuable because if not, I would have been out for $450.

The tablet wasn't holding a charge, and I didn't like how slow it would go. I had them return it, and I sent it back. SquareTrade is great. Mostly, I like the ease of being refunded when I have an issue. The only time the process gets complicated is if it recommends to use the manufacturer's warranty first. Getting the policy through the store, I didn’t know that and I don't feel that was explained. I would just like the ease of having to go through SquareTrade instead of having to go through the manufacturer first. Other than that, it's easy to get my items replaced.
I love the freedom of getting the check and being able to pick a new product. The headphones that I replaced, that's the second time I bought the Xbox brand headphones. My son uses them and he's nine, but the headphones are not made well. Once I did the replacement the second time and realized that, I was able to at least purchase a new product instead of having to continuously buy or be sent the same product. I don’t know if SquareTrade would send a check with all products, but that's the experience I've had with every product that I've had to do that with. The only gripe I have is about being aware of the manufacturer's warranty. That's the advice I would give to a friend.

I put an extended coverage on an Xbox One wireless controller. SquareTrade was offered at the tech stand when I bought it at Target. It was my sixth controller that I've purchased over the years. They usually don't last. The manufacturer's warranty from Microsoft covers 90 days. Their thumbsticks usually go bad after 90 days to where you have a wandering cursor on the screen. I haven't had very good luck with buying one and having it last for beyond that 90-day period.
One of the buttons randomly stopped working the way it's supposed to. It's the right bumper on the controller. You got to push it and it works sometimes. But it's like one out of every four pushes. I tried to submit a claim. It was a couple of months after the original warranty had run out. Then it was telling me that usually these warranties last for a year. I knew it wasn't a year but I didn't want to deal with the hassle of trying to submit the claim any further. Then I got close to a year and I was thinking about it. I haven't used this controller in a long time. I used my kid's small controller that I bought instead. I thought to try to submit a claim again so I went to initiate it. It was a week before that year mark. All I did was click on the chat button and explain to someone I wanted to make a claim on it. He said I couldn't yet but whoever was on the end of the chat helped me go ahead and do that.
The rep was really good. I've had bad experiences with chat representatives and customer service before where they're busy with multiple things and they don't respond quickly. But the rep was incredibly fast. Almost before I'd respond and hit enter, he could type a response within seconds. He knew what I was talking about and how to help me. I got the claim in when I was thinking I'd probably abandon it and try again in a week when it's been past that year mark. In this case, SquareTrade saved me from having to spend the full $70 that these controllers cost. That was valuable.

When I either register or make a claim, there's a problem with the digital process. You don’t need to input as much as you have to, but it constantly makes you think that you’ve made an error and you need to wait for something. Whenever I’ve spoken to a service representative, they’ve always been like, “You’re fine. It’s okay. The product was registered correctly. You did what you needed to do,” whatever that might be. But on the digital end, it doesn’t give you much feedback. That’s my least favorite thing about it. Going into the contract, I was under the impression that the SquareTrade plan started after the manufacturer warranty. But that was definitely not the case after I saw where they stated the service date starts and ends.

But the only thing they did was change the battery, which was what they did the first time. We are still testing it out right now to make sure that the fix was done correctly. But overall, I'm very disappointed in SquareTrade and in their customer service. I would never get another SquareTrade program again. The only negative thing that I've experienced is the technicians available in my area. That's something that they can't control as much though.
If I was in a city, it’d probably be no problem, but because we're in such a small, rural mountain town, the amount of technicians available for the specific brand of appliance that I have is not so readily available. Well the device decided to no longer charge and so I contacted Squaretrade to try and find out what they can do to assist me. I have called this company over 5 times to try and resolve this problem. They have placed me on hold for an Extended amount of time. Tonight is my 4th and 5th time calling. It is in regard to claim **. I spoke with Stephanie at 7:20 PM. I remained on the phone with her for a few minutes. I was on the phone for a total of 18 minutes and then the phone disconnected.
Prior to the disconnect she told me she was going to get me some help and she never returned. I called back at 7:55 PM. I navigated through their system and then someone picked up the phone and said hello and then they put me back on hold again, after I said hello. And shortly thereafter by 5 minutes and 5 seconds later the phone disconnected again. At that point I decided I wanted to find any website where I could write a complaint and express my dissatisfaction with the Allstate Squaretrade product. This is a gimmick. Do not purchase it for small electronics. I can tell you for a fact it is not worth the headache. This is an inconvenience.

Once I did, I was told to go to a FedEx store, with my pre-packaged label to ship to you. I did EXACTLY that. Again, I never got any follow up from SquareTrade, so I called to check the status. "Somehow" Square Trade or FedEx lost my Apple watch. Seems a little too convenient - I don't believe Square Trade had any intention of refunding my damaged product - I believe it's all a fraud. SquareTrade offers two types of plans: Standard and Accidental. Our Standard plan covers mechanical and electrical malfunction, while the Accidental plan includes accidental drops or liquid contact. In this case, the item was covered under our Standard Protection plan, which does not protect against physical damage. I went to the store and they have little pamphlets next to the TV that say SquareTrade. The person at the register also said something about getting a warranty. It made perfect sense. I was already gonna spend so much for a TV. So it's probably smarter to get the warranty. The screen started having a shadow, like a burn mark in the middle of the screen all the way up. It's starting to get worse over the last few weeks. It's like someone put a pole in front of the TV and there's a black shadow.
When we called SquareTrade, they said they were gonna need some things to start the claim. They said we need the original original receipt but I told them that was impossible because I bought the TV three years ago. So they said that I could go in the store and get a printout of it. They gave me a checklist of what I was gonna need. We went into Costco and we got the original receipt and then they gave us the SquareTrade information. I scanned and emailed over what they asked for.
In the beginning, they gave me two options for a TV. They told me to choose a TV and that the options were both gonna be great. I took their word for it and said okay, and I chose the TV without really looking into it. I was reading up on it and the last four digits just showed where the TV was made. So it was the exact same TV and the only thing that was different was location. I push the button and about two hours later I get an email saying that my TV was ordered. Then I looked at the specs and this TV was not even close to our TV. Our TV was top of the line. But that was my fault. I should've done more due diligence in looking into that, but I didn't. I called SquareTrade and told them that they needed to stop that shipping because the TV that they were sending out was not up to standard. It was not what I paid for. They were sending me an entry-level TV.
They said that they were gonna work on it and they ended up sending a TV, and then they reversed the TV. So they called UPS to get back. Then when UPS got back, I called SquareTrade again and asked for more options that they have. They said they were gonna work on it. Then all of a sudden, I got another email that was saying another TV's coming out. But I never picked it at all. I was dealing with this lady named Marty who ended up being a great person. She's a supervisor for the warranty support team of SquareTrade. She ended up handling everything. She told me these people didn't read the notes and they ended up sending me another TV thinking that I needed a TV. Marty ended up going above and beyond, and she said they stopped that TV from coming and the second TV. They ended up refunding the amount for the TV so they would get another TV.
It ended up working out. But it was a little lengthy. It was about a two-week process and it was stressful of what was going on because it should be easier than that. If someone has a top of the line TV, don't try to sell them a Daewoo for a Samsung. If I give you a Lexus, don't give me a Honda back. But Marty did an excellent job.

I called in to ask about how would I seek assistance in either returning it or what I need to do to have it fixed. They gave me some options and they worked. Everything went fine. It was an easy process. But I didn't get the full amount that I purchased for the toy. If they don't pay the value as to what you paid for, then should kind of explain why they're not. Because if you're gonna go back and buy the same vehicle, you're still adding money to it with the same toy. Also if I had to send the product back, it would have been too much of a headache. But the people that I talked to was very professional.

Their prices are cheaper monthly and if you get a four-year warranty, it’s far cheaper through them than through Best Buy and other places. You get more bang for your buck and the website is pretty easy to use. I had a claim last week on my cell phone. I cracked the glass on it. I got online and I had a couple of questions so I called SquareTrade and got it squared away. I got reimbursement and everything went smooth. But I thought about it later to see if the warranty is really worth it and I didn't think it was. The value of the phone now is only about 250 bucks and I spent about 250 bucks on the warranty and the deductible. I figured ok they must have discontinued the chair I bought. When I received the check I immediately went out to purchase a replacement.
To my surprise the first chair I came across (at the same place I originally purchased my chair) was the same exact chair that I had. Mmmm why couldn't SquareTrade find it???? Because the new purchase price was higher than I paid for when I originally bought the chair. Although they responded quickly to my issue on the merchandise, the fact that they did not replace the same piece was very disappointing and the fact that I was told they couldn't find the exact replacement when I had no problem finding it again opens up an issue of distrust with yet another company. When I click on the rating of two stars a question pops up, "What do you not like about this business." I was unable to click one of the given responses as dishonest was not an available choice.

Squaretrade always does our best to offer repair and replacement resolutions as our first priority, and a reimbursement is typically an option reserved for atypical situations. We have designed SquareTrade protection plans to cover our customers up to the amount spent on the item. I have purchased Square Trade every time it's offered on a purchase, but this is my first claim. Both barstools to a small dinette set broke after normal use of about a year and had to be discarded. Squaretrade denied my claim and essentially told me to get a refund for the warranty since I did not have pics of the broken stools. I was never even aware that they required pics (especially considering the warranty is for 3 years). I am extremely disappointed especially since now I have a table and no matching seating unless I replace the whole set!! What's the point of the extended warranty that has proof of purchase directly from the retailer but disregards my claim since I didn't remember to take pics one year later? Their actual response:
Hello Tiffany,
We have reviewed your photos and have determined the issue reported to be "both stools are broken due normal wear and tear" and is not covered under your Protection Plan since, the item is not currently available with you. As a result, your claim has been closed. You are eligible for a full refund of your warranty through Wayfair directly, as they handle warranty cancellations throughout the life of the plan. Please contact Wayfair to request a full refund of your warranty.
Hello Tiffany,
We apologize for the experience you had with us when filing a claim for your stools. Squaretrade does their best to provide a hassle free claims process and the best customer service.
When it comes to our terms, we do require for our customer's to still be in possession of their items at the time of filing a claim given that by you not having your item anymore it voids our coverage.

The process with SquareTrade went a lot easier and smoother than I expected. I didn't even expect to get the replacement as quickly as I did. The TV that I bought was a little over two years old. The backlighting had gone out on it that morning. I looked online to see what my policy was, did the online form then followed it from there. The guy still had to go through his process but he didn't make it sound one way or the other. The questions that he asked and had me do weren’t overly hard to figure out. The claim was taken care of when I got home that afternoon. They couldn't repair it so I got a replacement TV within the week. This is the second time I’ve had to use the security plan and both times they were more than helpful in working things out. I got a refund on the first one because the computer was not made anymore.

Contacted company about a return for tablet, screen froze. Was told I couldn't file a claim until the warranty had run out with the manufacturer of product which is not until November the 24th. I paid for a two-year warranty, if the company is going to replace with a new product are you going to start my two year warranty over again on the new product? It's a joke that you have scammed the consumers this way, I should be able to file my claim with you at any given time from the date of purchase, mind you it was purchased at a Wal-Mart store and sent as a gift. The process of getting it replaced has been nothing short of a fiasco!
Hello Tracy,
We apologize for any frustration caused by your recent claim.
SquareTrade protection plans are extended warranties designed to provide peace of mind by protecting against mechanical and electrical failures when the manufacturer's warranty has expired, or the manufacturer cannot assist during their warranty period. In the event the manufacturer does not provide service, SquareTrade can reevaluate the case to see how we can take care of the customer's issue.

A Squaretrade representative reached out to me after they learned of my dissatisfaction. They listened to my concerns and will look into making the process a better one for customers in the future. They also offered me a full refund on another warranty policy I had that was expiring soon to alleviate my dissatisfaction. Overall, I am happy with how everything turned out.

Completing the claim process was easy. I only had to complete 5 steps and I got a shipping label to send out my device. That is where the good ends. I received daily updates about the progress of my device. The third update told me my device was not repairable, I would be reimbursed for my device, and my device would not be returned to me.
I was extremely disappointed as I did not approve this last step. I hoped to get my device back for data retrieval if a repair wasn't possible. I called support to find out my options. I was told since the reimbursement was already approved, there was nothing that could be done to get my device back. I hope in the future you will confirm approval with the user before making such a drastic decision.
Hello Alexander,
We apologize for any dissatisfaction with your claim resolution.
Squaretrade does our best to provide our customers a satisfactory mail-in repair experience, utilizing only certified technicians to complete these services. All items which are sent to our repair center require a full diagnostic inspection before and after every repair, only when the item passes this diagnostic will the product be returned.
In certain cases our technicians are unable to repair a device and so an alternative resolution such as replacement or reimbursement must be provided. We understand you have concerns with this process and one of our specialists has reached out to further discuss the situation.
We hope to speak with you soon and again apologize for any inconvenience.

Purchased from: EBAY- hd-tool. Purchased: March 1, 2020. Price: $1,949.95. Unit Manufacturer: XtremepowerUS. ID Plate Model Number: SHS-65H-UC. At the same time, at EBAY checkout, Purchased ‘Square Trade’ Warranty, $209.99, 3-Year SquareTrade Warranty. Unit arrived: March 10, 2020, Unit installed/Operational March 15, 2020. GREAT Pool Heater (I thought at that time). VERY quiet, VERY energy efficient, it performed exactly as the manufacturer specifications stated.
April 25, about 10:30 PM at night, (equipment had shut off about 6:00PM with the pool pump), I heard a LOUD POP, followed by a loud whistling sound. I found the Pool Heater, spewing a high speed stream of refrigerant oil and refrigerant vapor straight up, through the top of the unit in a huge vapor cloud. Looked into the top, saw twisted pipes, the components inside had split apart, damaging the surrounding pieces. The Pool Heater was DEAD.
April 27, 2020 Contacted seller, he replied that the unit was out of the manufacturers 30 day warranty and I should contact the ‘Extended Warranty’ company (Square Trade). April 27, 2020 - First contacted ‘Square Trade' on-line (as suggested on their website) to file a claim and start the process. Completed the online information and got the message that I needed to call to complete the process.
April 27 – CALLED (#1), walked ‘Agent' through entire timeline to that point. 'Agent' said I had to submit a receipt from Ebay showing purchase of the unit. They would "Verify" everything, open a ‘Claim’ and let me know. April 28 - Went online, found 'Claim'. Noticed it was marked "CLOSED". Puzzled, I CALLED (#2) Square Trade and spoke with another 'Agent'. (The Agent knew nothing about my claim). I had to repeat everything I had stated previously, from the beginning, then the Agent located my information. The ‘Agent' asked if I had contacted the manufacturer or seller about the warranty. The ‘Agent’ stated that the Manufacturers warranty should be one year, not 30 days. I must contact the seller about the manufacturers warranty before they could finish the claim. The Agent asked if I had someone local come out to look at the unit for repair. I said no but would look locally.
April 29- Airconditioning/Refrigeration company by, looked at the unit, technician said he had never seen a heater like that, didn’t know where they could get parts and could not fix the unit. (Didn’t even charge for a service call). Again, contacted the Manufacturers rep on Ebay. Asked about the warranty. He repeated that the Manufacturers Warranty was ONLY 30 DAYS.
April 29 – CALLED (#3) Square Trade and spoke with ANOTHER agent, AGAIN, REPEATED everything from the beginning. (The Agent knew nothing about my claim). The Agent then located my information. The agent asked for the Serial Number of the unit. I gave the serial number to the agent. The agent asked; ‘did I had ask the manufacturer if they serviced the units'. I said I would ask. April 29- Asked the Ebay manufacturer rep ‘Does the Manufacturer service the units?' He answered NO, they do not service the units they sell.
April 30- CALLED (#4) Square Trade and spoke with ANOTHER agent, AGAIN, REPEATED everything from the beginning. (The Agent knew nothing about my claim) The Agent then located my information. The ‘Agent’ asked me if the claim was for an "accident". I said, "NO, it was a manufacturing defect, the unit just blew up sitting on the pad." OK. The Agent “Verified" the ''Serial #" and the “Receipt for the purchase of the unit". Then said the Square Trade computer system was down, call back in an hour to complete the claim.
April 30- CALLED (#5) Square Trade and spoke with ANOTHER AGENT…. Repeat same story over again, then Agent located my information. I told agent that local repair company could NOT repair the unit. Agent asked if I had checked with the manufacturer to see if they could repair the unit. Yes, I asked and was told; they “Do NOT service the units they sell”. Agent didn’t believe the Manufacturers Warranty was only 30 days, agent said ‘it should be one year’, Square Trade needed verification. I asked; how do I forward the Verification of Manufacturers Warranty information to Square Trade. Square Trade sent me an email to attach the information to and return it.
May 2-6 Again, contacted the Manufacturers rep on Ebay. Asked for verification of the 30 Day Warranty. He repeated, AGAIN that the Manufacturers Warranty was ONLY 30 DAYS, NOT 1 year that Square Trade thought! Additionally, my unit was PAST the Manufacturers Warranty period, I needed to contact 'Square Trade' for repair, not him! May 6 – Received an email from Square Trade "Warranty Support". I attached the reply from Ebay, 'HDTOOL’ with the Manufacturers Warranty information and returned it to Square Trade.
May 7 - CALLED (#6) Square Trade and spoke with ANOTHER AGENT…. Repeat same story over again, then Agent located my information. I asked the Agent if Square Trade "Warranty Support" had received the Warranty information I had emailed. Yes, the information emailed. The agent then said, my statement that the Air Conditioning/Refrigeration company could not repair the unit was NOT sufficient! I needed to get a "Written Statement” that the equipment repair costs would be greater than the cost of a new unit!!! Then, your claim will be forwarded to the “Resolution Team". WHAT! Yet another delay! Why didn’t they say that the FIRST time I called? EVERY time I call, ANOTHER requirement is piled on!
May 8 – 12 The first Air-conditioning/Refrigeration company said they would not try to repair the unit. Searched and Finally found a company that installs refrigerant based pool heaters that WOULD look at the Pool Heater to see if they could fix it. 170 MILES (270Km) AWAY!!!! They charged me $ 105.oo just to LOOK at the unit!! May 18 – ‘Done Right’ Came by, DISASSEMBLED the unit, showed me the damage, reassembled it and told me they WOULD provide a statement, “in writing" that “….Labor cost and parts needed exceed the value of the heat pump".
May 20 - CALLED (#7) Square Trade and spoke with ANOTHER AGENT.... Repeat same story over again, then Agent located my information. I asked about my emails; Agent FOUND email from 'Done Right' about could not repair unit. Found email from manufacturer about warranty of 30 days. Agent said both documents are "fine" and are required as “Proof". Agent said ‘I’ll have the “Team" check. Agent will talk to the “Back End Team”. The Agent said they have to wait for a response. ‘I’m going to share this with them, update your information and have a response for you' from the "Concern Department".... What?? Agent said ‘they will email you in 24 to 48 hours'. May 25 to June 4 – Checked Square Trade web page, checked emails NOTHING. No calls NO emails to me.
June 6 - CALLED (#8) Square Trade and spoke with ANOTHER AGENT…. Repeat same story over again, then Agent located my information. There was NO determination yet. The agent had to refer my file to a “Resolution Team". (ANOTHER TEAM?) Was there anyone I could speak with? The agent said “NO", EVERYTHING is done via email. I reminded her that the last Agent said 2 to 5 business days, it has been 12 (twelve) business days. Agent said ‘Nothing I can do'!
June 6 – Received Square Trade in the PM, from “Nigel, Square Trade Claims Review Team”. Nigel contacted the REPAIR company I submitted (Done Right Pool Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc.). Nigel negotiated with ‘Done Right’ to “Repair" my defective unit for $1560.oo. I was puzzled!!?? Why had 'Done Right' provided a statement, IN WRITING that “….Labor cost and parts needed exceed the value of the heat pump". And now they can REPAIR my unit? Happy that I can FINALLY get my defective unit repaired, I called Done Right Pool Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc., on the following business day (Monday, June 8).
June 8 – I called Done Right Pool Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc., to ask when they could perform the work. I was told that they could “CONVERT” my unit using THEIR PARTS, NOT Factory Original Parts, in a week or so. WHAT? “CONVERT” my unit? "Yes, we can’t get any Original Factory Parts for your unit, we CAN’T repair it to factory specifications, we have to “CONVERT” the unit to OUR parts and ‘Make Them Fit'." "Will it work the same?" "We don't know that." "Will it be as efficient?" "NO, we don't know that." "Will it have the same heating capacity?" "We have no way to tell." "Will it be as quiet?" "We don't know that."
June 9 – I replied to "Nigel", Square Trade Claims Review Team, asking why I must "CONVERT" my blown unit and if the warranty covers the "CONVERTED" parts. Does Square Trade warrant the unit performance to be as the original was?... To date, October 15, 2020, I have NOT heard ANYTHING from Square Trade. This is UNFAIR! U-N-F-A-I-R!!!! I purchased the ‘Square Trade’ Warranty in good faith. I expect Square Trade to honor the warranty and REPAIR or replace my unit. Your local car mechanic would not "CONVERT" a blown BIG V-8 motor to a little 4 cylinder motor and say your car is "REPAIRED"! ---- I do NOT want a "CONVERTED" unit. WHAT DO I DO NOW?

So, I got into a kayaking accident where my kayak overturned and I almost drowned. I had my Samsung Tab S6 tablet with me but thankfully it was in a camera bag that I had attached to my person so I was able to recover the tablet. Unfortunately the tablet was salt water damaged and I thought it was a total loss but never threw it away because, who knows why. Forward to several months later seeing if I could file a claim for another product and I noticed that I have an accident and damaged warranty with with SquareTrade for my tablet. So I sent it in to SquareTrade, and they sent me a replacement.
The only complaint right now is that they sent me the wrong version of the tablet. I had a 256 GB version, but they sent me the 128 GB version, which has a huge price difference. As of this writing, I haven't heard back about an exchange but I'm at least happy to see they do honor claims. The pending lawsuit against them and online complaints about them had me so worried that I was already researching laws to cite if my claim was rejected or they shorted me (which I guess they technically did just now but I got a tablet at least) but thankfully, everything was mostly acceptable.

At first we had issues with the smartcast apps, but Vizio said that it was a known problem that they were working on (two years ago) so we stayed with it. Now we are having mechanical issues that the warranty should have covered. But wait! Here comes SquareTrade saying that because I mentioned that the app issue was something that happened from the start, they would not cover the mechanical problems as they are qualifying the tv as defective from new. Yes, if you mention any problem that you may have had and trusted the manufacturer promise of addressing, that has nothing to do with the mechanical issues, they will not cover you. Moral of the story is do not be honest and open with them, or they will use it against you.
Hello Guillermo,

SquareTrade's protection plans are extended warranties designed to provide peace of mind by protecting against mechanical and electrical failures when the manufacturer's warranty has expired, or the manufacturer cannot assist during their warranty period. However, there are specific issues that we do not cover, such as preexisting issues.
When a device has defects out of the box, it is advised that consumers return the product to the retailer or reach out to the manufacturer to correct the issue. Items that have preexisting conditions are likely to degrade over time. Because or protection plans are designed to protect against failures for initially functioning devices, we have elected not to cover preexisting conditions. If a consumer expresses that their device has not worked since the purchase, their warranty will become invalid, and we will not be able to process a claim.
We understand your frustration, so we have reached out to you directly to provide additional support and insight regarding this matter.

I sent a laptop in for repair over a month ago to replace a cracked display. On Friday, 09/25/20, I filed a complaint with the Square Trade warranty department and received a canned response in which I will hear back from someone in 1-2 business days. It has been more than 2 business days and have not received a reply regarding the status of my laptop which I sent in on 08/21/20.
I have spoken to several representatives prior each stating the laptop was being repaired. Then, I received my 1TB nvme ssd on 09/23/20 via FedEx without any note as to why it shipped to me without the laptop. I had to talk to TWO more representatives to get an answer as to what had happened. Apparently, I’m supposed to receive a replacement laptop because they couldn’t fix the screen. Yet NO ONE has given me any status if this is supposed to be the case. I have no clue what’s happening other than Square Trade not updating me as to what the next course of action is. I am deeply disappointed and wish they had provided a better customer service experience.

Hello Raynaud,
We apologize for any dissatisfaction you have experienced during your claim.
SquareTrade's protection plans are extended warranties designed to provide peace of mind by protecting against mechanical and electrical failures when the manufacturer's warranty has expired, or the manufacturer cannot assist you during their warranty period. However, some issues are not covered under the plan, such as software related problems.
Because we understand that some mechanical or electrical issues may resemble software concerns, we may approve a claim for repair. We may have consumers ship their items to a repair center. When the repair facility receives a device, an audit of the damages/issues takes place. During this audit, the tech tests for any irregularities. They also test the electrical components to see if they can isolate a failed part and factory reset the device to ensure that it functions to manufacturer standards. If the concern is not related to a mechanical or electrical failure, we will return it to the consumer within the same state.
We have reached out to you directly to provide additional support and insight.

I said several times there’s no code on back of tv & I sent a pic of back of tv already so you should have that info. Agent finally said everything was resolved & I was getting a e-gift card. Week or so later still nothing had been received. Called back & finally claim was resolved. So about 8 calls later claim was finally closed out.

I purchased the warranty for my custom pc, and was approved to do repairs. I called customer service and spoke to Moe on July 29th at 3:28 pm and I explained that the video card was not available and I could not purchase the card and have it installed anywhere. Moe told me as long as I bought the equivalent card it would be ok, and that putting the card in isn't hard and that I could do it myself if I was capable of doing so since I was authorized to get it fixed myself I could do this. After testing the pc the motherboard and video card were both bad. I replaced both and submitted the information.
1st they would not accept the invoices form New Egg, this took two weeks for them to approve. 2nd then they told me I was not qualified to replace the card, I have been a pc tech for 20+ years, was a Dell and Hp authorized tech and did repairs. 3rd then after three weeks of this they said, "Ok, the parts you used were upgrades." No they have the same specs and what was replaced. They said, "Well have new egg say that the parts were not available." This is 3 weeks after the initial purchase. I contact new egg and they say, "We have no way of telling what was in stock at the time of your purchase."
6 weeks later after I explain this request the transcript of the conversation where they said I could install myself, and use different parts, they tell me, "We don't cover upgrades." I called first before I bought the parts to make sure they would be covered, was told yes, and now they won't honor what was said. I asked for a copy of the transcript, they said they have it, but they will not release it to me. I have emails documenting all of this, been told by reps and managers, "We will call you back." No calls. I received one call at 12 a.m and no voicemail was left, but I did get an email saying I missed the call. I could see if I replaced the parts with ones that were actual upgrades, but they were replaced with parts that were the same specs, because the original parts were not available, which I called and stated, and was told to buy the equivalent.

I purchase a SquareTrade warranty for my son's Christmas present... an iPhone 7. We woke up one morning and the phone face was physically being pushed out by a defective battery. Square trade attempted to tell me that this was physical damage to the phone and would not be covered. They only cover electrical malfunctions. As far as I am concerned a defective battery swelling and pushing the face off the phone with no other physical damage (pictures sent) is electrical but whatever. I have been on the phone with this company for 7 days. I have tried to file a claim online only to produce a loop error in their system.
After finally talking with a manager he agreed this would be pushed through after they received my receipt. I have sent them 8 emails including my receipt all of which they claim to never have received (I have the delivery receipt). They will do anything not pay you. I still have no resolution and call every day. They try to push you into giving you the full price of your warranty cost refund so they don't have to pay out. Today they have started a new game. When you call they claim to send you to their claims department to start filing a claim only to be hung up on. It has happened 4 times today so far.
Now that I have finally got in touch with a claim specialist he has promised a call back after sending an email to them directly which according to him will only take 30 mins. (The last few days it was 24 hours. How does this possibly change this much? Someone is lying here!) They are unprofessional and have wasted so much of my time. They are also putting my family at risk requiring that this phone stay in my home which has the potential to explode and start on fire. I will never do business with this company again and I will let everyone who ask know how they treat their customers.

My 1 year old TV started showing weird lines across the screen for the past 2 weeks and gradually more disturbing. I reached out to Square Trade for a resolution. Day 1 they asked for photos and on Day 2 they asked for even more photos. On Day 2, I called them to check if photos met their requirements, and the service agent asked to wait till the end of day for the claimed result. Post Day 2, it was a radio silence and I called them on Day 3, the service agent was traveling outside in a disturbing background with car honks. I couldn't hear a word. Wonderful customer support team.
Later in the evening, I called for the second time on Day 3 and the service agent was looking at my claim and while I was on hold, the line was disconnected. On Day 4, I again called them to get an update on my claim and now the same old story - she asked me to wait till the end of day. All this time there was no email communication from SquareTrade explaining the reason for delay. Frustrated by the process, I called them back and now they wanted a 10 seconds video footage. I did send them what they requested promptly.
On Day 5, I received an email to call the support team with TV close by. When I called them back, the service agent asked me to wait for 24 hours to hear back. What the heck? They could have conveyed this in an email. They made me stay on the call and record a video of the screen issue and email it to them. They basically suspect customers of a possible video editing. Such a crap company. When they expect to send video proofs in real time, their claim review takes ages to process. After all this ordeal, they arbitrarily concluded this was an accidental damage and claim was denied. I haven't moved my TV for over a year now and the display damage is a result of screen failure. (Which should be covered as they advertise) There isn’t a scratch or dent in my TV screen.

He offered a speedy 2-day shipping label and a trade-in phone that was comparable in price. I agreed to that idea but, after hanging up, I quickly changed my mind.
The ONLY phone he could offer me was what I consider a "downgrade" from what I had at that time. I was insulted that a company like yours would offer me a piece of trash for my phone that I use EVERY DAY for work. I live 2 hours from the nearest store that sells phones. I ended up driving to that store and purchasing another phone. I was not going to SETTLE for a piece of garbage phone, when I could pay a little more and get something that works for me and my needs.
Your corporation better get things fixed, or you're going to lose customers. I wish I could charge you for the tank of gas I used to go get my new phone but, unfortunately, it doesn't work like that. Hope you fix your system. Good luck staying in business if you don't. You probably don't even read these anyway. I am probably venting to a bot.

I was very pleased with Square Trade's handling my claim. I explained its wild, uncontrollable behavior that no one could help me with, and they sent me a new phone, very similar to the old one (except it works fine). They gave me a week to send the old one back, which was scary for me, but turned out to be enough time. Kept me informed with status emails.

This was a great experience - great Tech - The only problem was I had to wait for screen to show up before the phone could be repaired - understand they don't stock all screens. Great communication from Batteries Plus - the shop that was cleared to replace the screen. I will use Square Trade in the future.

They won't send me new product with return label so I can send broken one back. They simply expect me to send them old one to get fixed. Well how do I know what you'll do then? I file claim. I expect to get new one with label so I can use the box and label to send in old one.

I had an extremely positive experience with Square Trade. I Purchased the three-year warranty on an office chair that I bought for my son. We had it for 2 1/2 years, and the back of it broke, and would not stay in a straight position any longer. Also both arm cushions broke off (the bolts Underneath them broke off). I registered a claim, and within one week there was a check in the mail for a reimbursement. I could not believe it as I thought for sure that they would not even process the claim, or would deny the refund for some reason. I am very happy with this company, and will utilize them for everything that I can for all future purchases. I have faith in them, and I know that they will do the right thing and follow up if they have to.

I sent my computer to be repaired 20 days ago and I have had minimal updates on where my computer is and if it is being repaired. I got an email from fed ex that the item had been delivered in the 13th but SquareTrade sent me an email on the 19th that they had received it. Of course this pissed me off. Then on the 24th I got an email that they had just started repairs, 5 days later. They emailed me saying that it would take 2-5 business days to be repaired, it’s been a week since then with no updates. I contacted customer service online to get an update and they told me I would receive one within 24 hours. The next day I got an update about the update and no info about my computer. I’m still waiting on that update. I called costumer service and they could not help me in any way either. This company is a joke. Would never recommend Square Trade to anyone who values their belongings, money and time.

Fitbit products have been getting less reliable in recent years, IMHO. So, I bought the SquareTrade protection when I bought my wife's Charge 3. Sure enough, a year and a couple of days later (right after the manufacturer's warranty expired), the Fitbit stopped holding a charge. Without the SquareTrade plan, I'd be out the full price... again!

Fast, efficient and true to their word! That says it all. Most warranty companies drag things out and try to wear you out going over every little detail until you are ready to just throw in the towel. They just “got it done”.
