Varsity Tutors has helped my son regain his confidence in Geometry. My son looks forward to his sessions because the tutor explains the lesson in a manner that he can understand. The tutor takes the time to explain the lesson, since his teacher is not.

My son has used Varsity Tutors for three different subjects and his tutors were all very knowledgeable in their fields. I love the fact that he can receive on-demand tutoring when he has a quick question on homework. I would definitely recommend Varsity Tutors to anyone.

Our experience with Varsity Tutors is positive. Upon registering, we were promptly assigned to tutors matching our needs. The tutoring sessions are recorded, which is great for 1) the child to refer to the session when needed, and 2) for parents to see progress and follow up. Tutors also provide the parents with detailed notes after the session. We're very pleased so far.

Varsity Tutors is a great place to learn very intriguing subjects. I mostly have done classes with Reed **, a Ph.D. meteorologist and it was great! Learning can be fun. Don't forget that! Some classes are only an hour or less which makes learning not only fun but quick. It is worth it to even take only one class a week. :)

Varsity tutors did not provide the service they specifically advertised and committed to me when discussing signup and membership: I would have a choice of tutors emailed to me, all tutors have college degrees and experience in teaching 1st grade reading, that I would be paired with someone who is available at the time of my choosing. Our family gave them 5 opportunities to pair us with a tutor that fit this criteria and they repeatedly failed. Of the 5 tutors we were paired with within 2 weeks, none fit our very simple criteria of being a college graduate with experience in teaching the subject we were looking for and availability to teach. We had a single poor experience with actually engaging in a 1:1 tutoring session after multiple pairings and 7 calls to Varsity Tutors office.

2/28 Update: Varsity Tutors knows how to fix a bad experience. Thanks to the amazing manager from the client experience department, my issue is resolved with the hours reinstated. The follow throughs have been great. Now my son can get the high quality tutoring that he was used to...A big thank you!

My son is 5 and loves his tutoring lessons. The best decision we made for him to find a fun way to learn in such young age. Lessons are virtually which helps our son even with PC skills which are needed at school, too.

Varsity Tutors resolved the issue and refunded my account. I was very pleased with the fast response when I contacted the correct staff person. Thank you very much. I will change my 1 star to 5 STARS!

The sales rep misinformed me about tuition fee. I was told $529 was for 6 months and found out the next day that I was charged the entire $529 for the first month. After incessant calls and follow ups, they finally cancelled my membership and sent me an email that I was ineligible for a refund. My daughter did not have a single session with them but they basically asked me to read my terms of membership and that I would not get my money back. I am livid and will do whatever it takes to get my refund back. They misrepresent and when challenged, push us against the wall. I have no recourse at this time but I plan to take legal action against them. It is no longer about the money but about principles.

When the client experience department reached out I was 100% sure they were going to give me the runaround and offer me expired coupons to make up for it. What did happen was actually quite beautiful and I was brought to tears shortly after. I spoke with what I can only imagine to be an angel (not kidding at all). This angel was named Teresa and this was by far the best experience I've ever had in my life when dealing with disputed matters.

I got engaged with the lesson and spectacular results. Also, the tutor's style of teaching is really interesting. At the end of the lesson, I learned specific details that my friends don't know. I highly recommend working with Varsity Tutors.

Varsitytutors.com is a great resource of online one on one tutoring sessions. The agents always choose and assign the tutors based on our requests in a timely manner. If we have any questions, they always follow up and resolve the issues or concerns as soon as possible, even on the weekends. They have a large pool of tutors for high school AP sessions, ACT and SAT preparation sessions. My daughter is happy with the tutors assigned to her. The tutors are very patient to answer any questions she has for the topics and provide summary and tips to help her improve the specific areas challenging to her. Most of the online tutors are flexible, if things come up, the student and tutors can reschedule, cancel, or add sessions. This helps a lot with my daughter’s busy school and activity schedules.

My entire experience thus far with this company has been truly wonderful. I’m using Varsity Tutors to learn German in order to reach a fluency level acceptable to get into a German graduate program. The first person I talked to didn’t pressure me at all and made sure to give me all the information I could need and answered all my questions confidently and knowledgeably. I've had several sessions with my tutor now and she’s been awesome by demonstrating patience with me when I’m confused, utilizing time effectively since I got the package that has only one meeting a week, and truly understanding my long-term goals and creating a plan to make sure I achieve them! What I also like about the company is that if I didn’t like my tutor, I could easily request a new one, and do so until I find someone I click with! I liked most of questions on health, economics, English and math as well as history. Probably I liked mostly questions on medicine, diagnosis, economics, history, math and English. Also I would like to mention that I answered most of questions but there were some that I didn't knew before this time.

I am really happy to report that to my surprise, Varsity Tutors especially one specific employee Elise B who is the Manager, took the initiative and solved my problem and showed me how it needs to be done to handle a customer and a human being. I am really happy and satisfied with the resolution of this problem and I would say I felt heard, I was seen, I was not ignored and I was happy with the resolution. Thank you so much Varsity Tutors for going over and beyond to fix the problem and make me as a customer happy, I truly appreciate it. They hold you into a 6 month contract, even if you don't want to use the service. My daughter found the tutors not useful at all. Online study content is bad. You can get much better content for a fraction of the price from IXL or completely free from Khan academy. Don't buy from this company and stay away.

The tutor that my 8th grader has for algebra is fantastic!!! He has gained so much confidence since working with her. She explains everything so well!! It will make his transition to high school so much better! The weekly feedback on the sessions is great. Wish I would have known about it sooner! Will recommend to everyone!

My daughter (S) was matched with an Algebra tutor on Varsity Tutors, and I could not have paired two people better. S's confidence was shaken after failing a unit and our tutor has spent so much time getting her back up to speed. She also made sure to connect with her personally about sewing and other hobbies -- even though sessions are remote, she is getting to know the WHOLE kid. She is also great at keeping parents in the loop. I have received texts, emails, and really thorough summaries about their sessions less than 30 min after they conclude. She also asked me to send the teacher's syllabus so she could be totally plugged into what S was learning. Amazing and worth every penny. Looking forward to seeing an improvement in her grades and her mojo next semester!

Excellent tutor. Very knowledgeable with much patience. Highly recommend. Have learned more in a few weeks than I did for several months from another. Great way to teach and learn. Will continue with these lessons since I can tell improvement and can actually learn because the way it is taught.

We are loving Varsity Tutors! My 9 year old daughter needed a little help with reading. We met her tutor and the tutor recommended 2 sessions each week. They work on phonics, strategies, fluency, and have some fun. My daughter really enjoys the time and is making great improvement! It is so fun to see her light up knowing she is improving her reading skills. Our tutor is great as well. Very good with her communication on what took place during the online tutor session, feedback on what my daughter needs to continue to practice, and praise for her persistence and eagerness to learn. It has been a great experience so we are signing my 7 year old up too!

The staff is excellent. My daughter is in 10th grade and needed help w/ Algebra 2 Honors. Varsity Tutors paired her up within 2 days. My daughter took an assessment evaluation l, the staff asked me questions about her needs and we were assigned a tutor. The tutor was pair to help her with both Algebra, Chemistry and then we found out he is qualified to help her in 10th grade Honors English.

We have had a great experience so far with Varsity Tutors. My son has Dyslexia and as a homeschool mom I was struggling to teach him to spell. They have helped so much and it’s only been a month. I can’t wait to see what he has learned in a few months time.

Varsity Tutors has a great system! They were able to match me with an excellent SAT tutor, her schedule was very flexible and their video chat format made it extremely easy for me to learn. The website is easily manageable and I was able to get help from their “chat support” whenever I had to cancel a session last minute.

Varsity Tutors is an excellent program! Very satisfied with the tutor they assigned me. He is patient and knows a lot about the subject. Best of all, he is very patient. I am very greatful and could possibly consider their services again.

It is great concept!! All in one place. 5 star for that. 4 star for finding right teacher fits to your kid is very difficult. But it is expensive. $70 per class with 4 classes per month and cannot carry forward.

My child was told in second grade that she will fail 3rd grade, by her teacher several times. This broke my heart but also made her and I determined to prove him wrong! When I initially called in I was in tears, the agent was very patient and consoling. We signed my daughter up for Math and English tutoring. She was struggling with reading which affected her math. Her tutor Bianca is amazing! She always asks about my daughter's day, it’s as if they are best friends. She has the most patience with her but also can read how my daughter is feeling throughout the class and makes adjustments when needed.

It has been wonderful having consistent tutoring hours that just are not available at my daughter's public high school. Her grades are the best proof. Ryan has been great and encourages her to do her best! This has been the best investment we have made all year.

These people con you into buying their package. They do not have qualified tutors. It's very difficult to reach out to them.. They say after you cancel due to dissatisfaction, that the 340$ fee is non refundable.. They never specify this when you sign in. Do not join Varsity Tutors… Worst service ever.

My parents bought 50 hours for tutoring one year ago. We were told they would not expire. Before they were set to expire; we were called by the head of sales. I told the head of sales that I only need 50 hours as 100 was too many, but she convinced us to buy 100 hours as I could use them whenever, and they would not expire without prior notice. Therefore, my parents purchased the 100 hours. The head of sales told me that Varsity Tutors would call me when my hours were about to expire. Because this platform had really helped me, my parents agreed, and purchased $5000 worth of hours.

I have called to have a physics tutor for my son who is in first-year university. The tutor was totally unprofessional joining the meet more than half an hour late, not only that, he was helping another kid and my son can hear them. He keep joining and disconnecting several times. Since then I have been trying to call them back to cancel my membership and no one answers, I have been trying to reach them for the past 3 days, and I have left a call-back request three times as well, I emailed them and texted them and NO ONE ANSWERS ME.

After adding money to my child’s account, Varsity Tutors is attempting to keep my balance. My child had to take a medical leave from school. The person I spoke to about this pause seemed trustworthy. I agreed not to take a refund but to leave the balance in the account. I did this for a reason. I specifically wanted to express my confidence in a speedy and full recovery. Access to the account was cut off so I started making phone calls. They are now claiming the hours are expired! Fraudulent! This is nothing less than stealing.

I was in a severe car accident and showed proof so I could get my refund back and they did not issue it. Not understanding or forgiving of a refund. Do not use them. They just did not care at all and just wanted the money.

When I first inquired about it they called me right away to ask the specifics and made sure I gave them every detail for my tutor. I have it for my son and I, we both are succeeding in our studies. Love it. Better option by far!

I am currently doing private tutoring and group classes to learn Spanish and am having a great experience. They have a great teaching methods and loads of patience. My tutor is kind, very knowledgeable, and when my schedule gets hectic and I need to change my private sessions she is very accommodating of this. Varsity Tutors has been of great help to assist my kids with their reading. They have great variety of tutors who understand the requirements and pace the learning as per kid's ability. My Kid was having trouble with phonics and vowel sounds. Tutor practiced the sounds, words and now help with reading books. This has been a great find and I would recommend it to others.

Child wanted to save hours for a harder class, without much thought I said great idea. However, when they finally needed a tutor to help study for a hard test, we found out all our hours 'expired'. I am sure the lawyers had that in the fine print, however the company never bothered to email these were expiring. They sure sent plenty of marketing emails, so they knew my email address. Company is more for money than helping kids (obviously). Tutors were so/so, one kept rescheduling so it was worthless to set a consistent time.

Keep in mind if you go with this company - the people you speak with on the phone just want you to sign a 12-month contract, and will say anything to get you to do it. I joined - with the promise of my deposit returned if I cancelled within 30 days. I spoke with a second person before I signed the contract online, and he said same thing about refund- pushing me to sign BEFORE my child/I saw product - you're not allowed to visit a “free class” (free only if you join $249 a month) until contract is signed. My daughter hated being online, (some people learn better in person) and so I tried canceling less than a week after signing in. Now I’m told - NO REFUNDS!!! That is $279 wasted. I spoke to 2 people to get refund, first time hung up on, second time saying no can do on a refund… after complaining, she said, “I’ll have someone contact you”. They never did.

Varsity Tutors was willing to work with me to meet my grandson's needs. They acknowledged that he may do better with an in person tutoring. They cancelled the contract to allow us to seek the appropriate tutor for Him.

I enjoyed using Varsity Tutors; I met terrific tutors that helped me in my courses. It would be best if you got used to switching between tutors to be able to match with your preferred one. Still, the counselors at varsity tutors make this process much easier for you by providing guaranteed tutoring in case the tutor that you've been matched with is not compatible with you, you can ask for another one and restore the hours you used in that session.

I love Varsity Tutors! I am in chemistry this semester and it has always been so hard for me. My tutor through Varsity Tutors has helped me increase my tests scores, and teach me efficient studying. This program is fantastic because each session is recorded for you and sent to you immediately after your session is finished for you to review at a later time. Their customer service agents are so nice and very helpful.

I purchased the 50-hours package for my child at Varsity Tutors and it had no expiration date. We have been experimenting with different tutors and we have run across a variety of issues with every instructor they sent us, including ending lessons 20 minutes early than the assigned hour, stalling time, talking on the phone, and talking to their family members during lessons, and more. We discussed all the problems with Basil, the account manager, who again assured us there would be no expiration date and asked us to continue trying out the tutors they sent us so we continued trying out different tutors again that I purchased.

As a homeschool mom I am always looking for different things to add to my daughter's curriculums. So when a friend shared Varsity Tutors, I thought we would give it a try. My daughter just loves the Varsity Tutors videos. She has learned so much from the ones that we have done so far. It has been a great boost in love of learning. She is able to explore more about animals, drawing techniques and so much more. Would recommend.

My 9 year-old granddaughter has participated in over a dozen of Varsity Tutor's free online courses. Despite a year of tedious online school she loves these little zoom courses. The topics are high interest, the presenters are usually very engaging, visuals and graphics are sharp and the pacing is just right. Sometimes there are hands-on aspects that make them even more fun. We have just started using Varsity Tutor for our children. We have been very impressed. From the enrollment process to matching us with a tutor that fits our needs, we have been very well communicated with by both the company representatives and our personal tutor. They have made sure any questions were answered, our needs were met and the assigned tutor was a good fit for our family. We have received a lot of feedback and recourses to help aid our children as well. Our tutor has made an effort to get to know our children's interests and she has geared their reading toward subjects they are naturally interested in. I am excited to see the progress our kids are starting to make already.

I just purchased 4 hr monthy 1:1 tutoring per month subscription yesterday and already extremely satisfied. Haven't attended a class or had a tutor session yet but blown away by their customer service and quality of classes offered. I've called 4 times since I enrolled yesterday, spoke to 3 different service reps and ALL 3 were knowledgeable about the product and my specific subscription plan. They were POLITE, spoke intelligible English and didn't rush me off the call or use prewritten fake scripts. WOW! When does that ever happen anymore. A live person answered the phone, no voicemail messages, didn't have communicate through automated chat or a string of emails. I am so impressed.

We so appreciate the customized approach our tutor has showed to help instruct and encourage our child! We have seen tremendous growth in just a few short weeks. We started with 10 sessions and will take a small pause for the summer but will start back before the school year starts to get a jump start with learning in a fun way!

Sign up for 2 week class. Ending up 6 months class. Reason being tutor does not show up without any notification. They are ripping off people. I would say it's a SCAM. Be careful! Thank God, I didn't pay $3000 for private tutoring.

I have requested a refund for almost ten days. I bought about $950 for 12 hours and took one session, and have left the remaining sessions of 10 hours. According to their contract, students can request a refund after we have taken the first session. After taking the first session, I considered it too expensive and thus no longer wanted to continue the sessions. Now it's been the tenth day I asked for the refund; they said the consultant would call me. However, I didn't manage to receive the call. Instead, I called customer service ten times in a couple of days. Unfortunately, this company's customer service voice says all employees aren't currently unavailable to keep up the call. The time I called is all within 9 AM-6 PM EST. I found the customer service is fake, which I have dialed ten times, but these calls from me were unanswered. I can only wait for now for them to return my unused sessions. I hope I can get my money back eventually.

My son’s math tutor, Momeena **, was immensely helpful in boosting my son’s SAT math score. We had only three weeks to prepare him for the SAT, and within this time period, Momeena helped him raise his score 100 points, o pared to his previous score score. I have been with Varsity Tutors for about 3 years. I started my son with Varsity because he was struggling with phonetic sounds which was hindering his ability to read. My son is now reading. They have amazing tutors who actually help students with confidence along with learning the core subjects. Not only does my son use it, but my daughter also gets help in math. When she first began she struggled with Algebra but her grades have improved. She always expresses how much she appreciates her tutor. He is patient and takes time to explain things that she does not understand. I first found Varsity Tutors when I was looking for a German tutor for my son. He was taking German his Freshman year of college after never taking a single German class and struggling. After the first few meetings with his tutor, his grade improved significantly. He has been fortunate enough to have two different German tutors, both who have been professional, friendly, patient, and AMAZING (Elsie and Norbert). Both have given my son so much confidence in his German class that his professor recommended that he minor in German (and he is)! I also feel that Varsity Tutors cares about my son's progress. Not only does the tutor send notes after each meeting, but the local office is always checking in, making sure we are happy with their services and with our tutor. I checked out several tutoring options for my son for AP Calc AB. While Varsity Tutors was the most expensive, they also had the most comprehensive program. We are only 3 tutoring sessions in but my son is happy with his tutor and more comfortable with the material now.

Great experience from the beginning. I went on their site and requested a call back for additional information. The representative that called me was very professional and asked lots of good questions to help identify my daughter's needs. My daughter was matched with the sweetest most patient tutor. She is enjoying her Math tutoring and is progressing nicely. Their platform is very user friendly and convenient. Tutoring sessions are recorded so your child can go back and review the material if needed. Highly recommend!

Justin ** was a great instructor. My child and I had a great time learning from the session. It was entertaining and engaging. The time went by so quickly I didn’t notice it had overrun by 100% the allocated time. For future sessions on magic, perhaps more time could be allocated. There’s so much fun ground to cover.

Coyote Peterson was amazing, fun, and very engaging. My 8 year old and even my 5 year old had so much fun and loved his class. In fact they both want to sign up to his small group class. They already watch him on YouTube Brave Wilderness and they love that series, but they were a lot more excited to be able to see him live. That is why they want to sign up to his small group class because they want to interact with him and be able to speak and participate live.

I am an adult who has attended a few classes of interest. I will say that I have been pleasantly surprised with the information provided and with the presentation of the information. The classes have been short enough that I can take an extended lunch, from work, to attend. I would highly recommend any class that you find interesting.

This is our third class with Coyote Peterson and my daughter loves these classes. She's 8 years old and homeschooled in 3rd grade. She loves learning about Science and I'm always keeping an eye on the classes available for ones she would like. This is a great program.

If I could rate 0 stars, I would. This company scammed me. I reached out for tutoring for a very niche topic, a professional designation exam, their website indicated that they have that specialization. After thinking about the cost for a week, I decided to proceed with their 12 hour program (more than $100/hour!). This program comes with a pass guarantee, a tutor guarantee, and a small discount on the hourly rate. It seemed the most secure and best option. I was paired with a tutor, we had our first session (which couldn't be less than 2 hours), and he did not give me his undivided attention. He was on his phone, typing emails on his laptop, offered no guidance on questions I was asking, told me to "just guess and then check the answer". This was not worth $100+ an hour.

VT classes have become the best extracurricular activities for my daughter. She finds a topic that is interesting and she gets to not only learn more about that subject, but she gets to do it with her peers that are scattered throughout the country and sometimes even the world. The best instructors tailor the classes to the students enrolled with flexible topics and pacing that keep the kids engaged. With the variety of instructors and topics, you can find the "perfect fit" for your situation. The StarCourses are engaging for the whole family. What started as a way to break up the monotony of Covid restrictions has become a part of my family's routine.

My 7 year old son Jack LOVED Abby's presentation. She was easy to understand for kids of multiple ages, kept their attention and made it fun with games and questions. I listened along with him, and found it quite interesting as well! It was funny how many questions I got wrong. :) So yes, we would recommend Varsity and the VT+ membership!

I enrolled my son mid year because I felt he was not learning enough in his public school online classes. He was having emotional tantrums daily. I decided to home school and enroll him in Varsity Tutors. I loved it so much we decided to re-enroll again now for 2021 school year. When attending a lecture, I enjoy professors with real life experience in the field. No one can doubt Stevie's credentials with the E Street band, nor his commitment to rock and roll early in life. The student interaction was excellent and persistent. All of the course interactive exercises were relevant and helped to explain how the Beatles molded rock and roll and Stevie's attitude toward it.

We really recommend Diana **, she is a great tutor, gave clear explanation to Mariana (rising 6th grade student), review her math skills and guide her for improving her ability to resolve math operations.

Varsity Tutors is a great way to get help with difficult courses. I took an online Calculus II class which was challenging. Having a tutor greatly improved my learning and my grade, especially since the nature of the online course meant I was unable to easily work through questions with the professor. The platform Varsity Tutors uses is excellent, allowing both the tutor and the student to see each other, write on a shared virtual whiteboard, and upload documents. The tutoring session notes are then saved for the student to reference later, as needed. I highly recommend Varsity Tutors for anyone struggling with a difficult course. I also strongly recommend tutor Don ** if you are taking math and science courses.

I had a fantastic experience! I took the Master Trivia with a Champion course, taught by Ken Jennings. It was extremely interactive and fully engaging, and Ken was just awesome! He had terrific information to share and he was so good natured and pleasant!

We love Andy Casagrande on shark week and I have gotten my kids more and more interested in his work via social media so this was a great opportunity to learn more on my kids level and get to see someone who we admire for his shark work. I reached out to Varsity Tutors in the summer of 2021. I was signed up to take Organic Chemistry 1 for 5 weeks followed by Organic Chemistry 2 for 5 weeks. I was also taking 3 other classes. I knew I needed help within the first week because my last Chemistry class was over 15 years ago. I only had 4 weeks left of class and needed someone right away. I knew it could be hard going through my university to get help immediately.

My daughter and I are doing cartoon drawings. I enroll in this course because she likes to draw. Both of us liked the course of cartoon drawings a lot!!! If we can find more of this courses we will enroll ourselves! We like to paint with watercolor and oil paint. Thank you so much!

Nicole ** is a phenomenal tutor, I can't speak highly of her enough. She covered 8 weeks of content within a 3 hour session and I received an 87% on that final! I can't speak for all the tutors but this one was really amazing!

I used Varsity Tutors to improve my GRE score. My tutor was very patient and intelligent. He explained every problem clearly and gave me tips on how to approach each question. I took a chance on a class at Varsitytutors.com from an advertisement in Facebook. Who would have thought? I signed up for the free presentation on the death of Julius Caesar. It was a 45 minute video presentation that was absolutely spectacular. The grade level was supposedly grade school to high school but I have two master's degrees and I have never learned so much in just 45 minutes as I did in this video presentation. The speaker was so enthusiastic he could hardly hold himself on a live presentation of a tour of the Roman Forum. I have now signed up for another free class. The only requirement they have is they merely suggest that you consider having one of their private conferences for tutorial purposes. They have proven to be so good I would be willing to pay for this quality of learning.

My 8 year old daughter participated in a free Coyote Peterson class about different dangerous animals. She had such an amazing time and absolutely loved it. She drew pictures of each animal she learned about so that she could show her dad and I, she had such a great time and asked if she could do this every day. Coyote Peterson is one of her favorites to watch, and for Varsity Tutors to offer this class for free, I am so appreciative of. Seeing her face light up and smile is the best feeling in the world. Based on the classes she now knows how to teach out dog tricks, is fascinated with the human brain and STEM topics of all sorts and though she is already a working actor she has even found tips she didn’t know before. The best thing is it is clear these experts want to be teaching large groups of children because the exude positive energy and excitement as they teach.
