I took Chegg subscription around three months ago and they started billing for the tutoring as well which is around $15 extra every month and one of the months they charged me thrice and later refunded only two charges. I simply had to pay $30 without having to use any tutor service. Now that I got fed up with them I canceled my subscription and they have again charged me for the Chegg Study. They don't proper customer service. Nobody gives proper information.

I contacted Chegg in February 2018 because our instructor Pamela ** at SXU did not provide ANY instruction at all for Accounting (she just posted which chapters to read in a book and then submit assignments). So I contacted Chegg online to see if there was any instructor for Cost Management. They emailed me: 'unfortunately, we do not have instructors for this subject'. To me, that was it. The end. But no, to my surprise, I see Chegg charged my credit card $15! when they did not provide me any service at all. It has been a nightmare! They still charge me and I need to dispute the charges all the time. Contacting Chegg is impossible as they do not answer the phone. I am writing the review so that nobody goes through the experience I went through (or am going through, as I do not know if this will be over).

I started using this for physics but it had multiple wrong answers. I have posted a lot of questions and have gotten two correct answers. It has actually gotten me worse grades. I would not recommend this to anyone. They are insulting with their answers. I will post two of my worst experiences. I posted a two part question and the answerer told me that they are only required to answer one part. Ok, I was a little irritated since they weren't even long questions and I was just posting them for quality control and confirmation since I already had a good idea with what the answer was.
That person got it wrong anyway. Another time I posted a question that required thought and not only did it take 8 hours, but the answerer answered an entirely different question. I am not kidding, I posted the paper that asked the question, yet they answered a completely different question. It was supposed to be a series of diagrams but they explained something that was completely different. I really can't believe how awful this service is.

I shipped books that I was reselling to Chegg in hopes to receive the money promised by this company. After shipment I was notified they couldn’t accept 2 of my books. I asked that they be returned. The books were very expensive. I never received any payment on the remaining books nor was my books returned to me. After several emails about complaints I never received a reply, payment, or my books at a 300 dollar value. I’m more than disappointed. Chegg is very unprofessional!!!

My son downloaded a book for school. When he couldn't access or open the book we tried customer service. They refused a refund and keep charging recurring monthly charges for a product we don't use and won't stop. Reported the abuse to the credit card company who said we had to fill in the form the vendor never sent. Tired of the runaround. Do not use.

If I could give Chegg a -5 stars I would. My entire experience with this company has been disastrous. I was selling 5 textbooks and quoted for 5 books. I shipped them via UPS to their warehouse in Tennessee and UPS tracking confirmed they received them. On Monday, December 4th 2017. I was estimated to receive payment on sent via check by Friday, December 8th 2017 for only 4 of the 5 books I was quoted for. All of my books were sent in gently used condition with the only wear being the binding due to physically opening the book. No marks, no highlights, nothing. I logged into my account to see if the status of the remaining book had been updated. At that time it still showed as "in transit", even though UPS was showing that it had been received. To this day, my book is still showing up on my account as "in transit".
Around December 12th, I reached out to their customer service chat, because they make it almost IMPOSSIBLE for you to SPEAK to a person. I asked the rep if there was an update as to why my book was still showing up as in transit and if there was a problem. He advised me that there was a problem with my account and that the "note" on my account showed that I needed to "contact their billing department". I attempted to ask him several questions and get feedback as to what the problem may be, he said he could not provide me any additional information. He disconnected with me before I was able to ask any further questions and did not confirm that I had asked all of my questions. Which is poor customer service. At the end of the chat, I submitted the survey and complained requesting someone contact me regarding my experience so far. (As of today, not a single person has reached out to me about this).
I emailed their billing department and provided every bit of information I could offer them and asked them what the issue was. I was already severely irritated that there was a problem with my account and even though they had my contact information no one contacted me when the issue was discovered. Because according to the rep, there was a known issue and that's why my account shown that I needed to contact billing.
The billing department notified me that my book was flagged by their warehouse as a counterfeit book and it will be sent to the publisher for validation. If it is determined that my book was a counterfeit, I will not receive it back, the publisher will destroy it to keep counterfeit books out of circulation. If it is verified to be authentic, I will receive my payment and this process "typically takes about 2 weeks but in some cases may take longer". As of Friday, February 9th 2018 it will be 10 weeks total since Chegg has had my book (Or... Whatever you want to call this).
I'm a reasonable person, I understand the purpose of this policy. My problem is that my book was issued to me as a brand new sealed product from my university. The book was Employment Law: New Challenges in the Business Environment. 6th Edition Published by Prentice Hall ISBN 978-0133075229. So, the problem is my book has been out of my possession for almost 3 months either because someone there is incompetent in determining fraudulent products or my school has been selling counterfeit textbooks to students paid for with their federal aid. (Which is less likely the situation).
Billing refused to give me any information regarding why they alleged this about my textbook and stated that they had no contacts at their warehouse who can provide this information and that they would "contact me" when the publisher updates them. They never contacted me to begin with, so I don't have high hopes that they will at all. Their billing department then would not respond to my emails.
I had to resort to posting publicly on their Facebook page to get any kind of response. I spoke with an individual named Skip, who gathered my information and said he would have someone contact me. I did receive a phone call from a number I was not familiar with from San Jose, CA. 408-855-5703. Their corporate office is in Santa Clara, to my knowledge. Reverse look up shows this number belongs to a Mission College in San Jose. I received no additional calls to my knowledge that were possibly from Chegg. This was on 12/29/17.
Fast forward to yesterday, I reached out to Skip again via the last email I was able to reach him out. He confirmed that there was a note on my account that they attempted to reach me on 12/29/17 and "additional attempts" would be made. I have had no contact with anyone else. Skip advised me that their billing department was the only one who could help me, although they have been extremely unhelpful for the past 10 weeks.
Chegg sells the book I sent them for 162.99 used. Speculation, as it appears from complaints by other consumers, this is a common occurrence for them to find various reasons to not return the books to students and refuse pay. Considering the nature of issue and the fact that this book was flagged as potentially counterfeit knowing that I have discussed with them that my book came from my university It wouldn't be unreasonable for someone involved in the decision making process regarding what's potentially counterfeit and what's not, to speak with customers who have deep concern regarding a product they've had in their possession for almost three months. However, they "can't" tell me why, and they expect customers to just wait forever until they get back to them, if they do. I was never assured that the publisher would reach out to me. According to their billing department, the publisher "may" request my information.
I could see how consumers would eventually cut this as a loss and forfeit efforts against a company who is habitually ignoring their responses and not pursue any action over a 50.00 book, when that in itself can be a costly process. My book in particular was one of my more expensive books and I was quoted for $80.42 dollars. It was no surprise to me to find that they resell this product used for $162.99. Students are not exactly rolling in income, and many of us have probably sold their books because they needed the extra cash, usually to buy textbooks for an upcoming term or semester. Chegg is engaging in unfair practices and are not providing their customers even a remotely acceptable service.

My entire balance was gone in addition to the $23 charge that they gave me. When I reached out to them, they said that I only had 30 minutes in my balance. I intended to order some textbooks for my daughter but during the process of attempting to check out, I began to enter the university address, (which includes my daughter's name, university address, name of her house, room#) like most universities, I discover that there was not enough space to enter everything. I called Cheggs customer service and spoke to someone called TEQUILA. After explaining the situation to TEQUILA, she began asking the most comical questions. "Are you sure you are on the right page, is that your daughter's school address, did you put the address in the right place," etc, etc. She then told me, "I don't think that UPS will accept that long address, because they have made some changes and won't accept long addresses anymore".
I wanted to tell her "that's BS", but instead I calmly explained to her that I use UPS very frequently to ship things, including texts from Barnes & Nobles, Amazon, etc, to my daughter, and many times, including the past couple of weeks, using UPS. She then told me, "Well Ma'am, it must be something that you are doing wrong". She then had me go through the steps of entering the shipping address again, so I humored her and did so. When the space did not magically expand to accept my daughter's complete address, TEQUILA became very defensive. She also was very critical of my ability to enter a simple address, and very defiant and RUDE, when I asked to speak to a supervisor, (btw, supervisors do not take calls at Chegg, they only return calls) according to TEQUILA anyways.
I waited on the phone for quite a while, during which time, TEQUILA frequently and quite loudly coughed in my ear, muttered rude things when the line should have been on hold & muted, laughed, I assumed with colleagues, about the situation while I listened, and a number of unnecessary and very immature audible actions. TEQUILA, I doubt that you will think to read a review about yourself through this media, but just in case you come across this at some point in the future, I hope that you will have reached a point where you have acquired some additional customer service skills, because at the moment you are doing a disservice to the company you work for. Remember 78% of consumer have bailed on an intended purchase because of a poor customer service experience, just like I did today, by taking my business someplace else. Wishing you the best for the future. CHEGG TAKE NOTICE. Suggestion: Customer Service 101 class.

I mailed them books to sell back in December. I knew it would take up 10 business days to get the money I would receive back. After a week and a half passed from 10th business day I reached out to the company. I was told that "there's holiday's in between so you have to count those, it should be there tomorrow". Well duh, I did count the holidays but okay whatever, I can wait one more day. Well three days pass and still no check in my mailbox. I sent an email and got no response. I call the next day and they tell me "oh, there's a note in the system that says there's a delay in getting the check out to you. It should go out tomorrow and you'll get the check in 10 business days."
At this point I am furious. No one thought to send me an email updating me on what's been going on? It's been almost a month and half and I have no money...they got their products but I have nothing to show for it. This is a horrible way to do business. I will never be selling any more books to the company. Luckily, my life did not depend on this check otherwise I would've been dead.

Turns out that there was no solutions for that textbook. I wanted a refund and called the helpline. The person had me on hold for 20 minutes, picked up and didnt say anything then proceeded to hang up on me. Every time I call I am on hold for 20 minutes and no one answers. This is disgusting customer service.

I have used Chegg numerous times during my undergraduate and graduate career. I used to rent textbooks from Chegg, and more recently, tried to sell back some of the textbooks I have purchased because Chegg quotes offered reasonable buy-back prices above other companies; however, over the past 9 months, I have experienced two situations I am extremely unhappy with.
In May, I sold several textbooks, which I received checks for with the exception of one. I called customer service and they told me that my brand new book was in “poor” condition, so I requested that it gets sent back to me. I received a book back, but it was a completely different book altogether. I called customer service once again and they requested I send them back the wrong book so they can put an order in to send the correct book back. I sent them back the book I had, but I never received MY book back. I called customer service again and it was determined that my book was “lost”, so I requested that they either find me the book I sent them, or give me the quoted money. They gave me the money that was quoted to me for my book after going back and forth for months. I am extremely upset by this, but I figured it was a freak accident, so I decided to give the company the benefit of the doubt and sell something again.
I recently sold two of my textbooks, both are in mint condition as I purchased them brand-new, hardly marking them, and only using them for one semester. I was quoted to receive $45.75 for one of the textbooks and the other textbook I was quoted $73.31, but it was marked as “poor condition” (a brand-new book I bought for $138.00). I called customer service and requested them to send me back the book since I received an e-mail indicated they were going to “recycle” the book or “donate” the book. Three and a half weeks have gone by since my initial quotes, and I have not received the accepted check or my other book back.
I have sent the company 12 brand-new or in good-condition books over the past 9 months, which I have lost a lot of money on, and this company cannot provide me with the fair quoted amounts, but rather make-up excuses as to why they are keeping my books. I talked with someone in customer service and they told me, “We are not supposed to tell customers this, but if we have too much of a book in stock, it gets marked as poor condition. If you had a bad experience with us before you should have sold your books to Amazon or something”. It is pretty sad to me when someone who works for the company bluntly tells me not to use the company they work for.
The definition of fraud states, “a wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain”. This company IS the definition of fraud. I have wasted so much time on this company and I am beyond tired of dealing with this. The customers this company is working for are students who hardly have any money as it is, and this company has committed fraudulent acts that prevent us from receiving fair money back. I never write complaints like this by I am beyond my limits of patience with this company, which is too bad because I enjoyed using this company when it was fair. I take very good care of my books because I respect education and learning, so this is an insult to me for them to be marked as "poor condition" on several accounts. The company should pay me back full price for the two books I sold them due to the amount of stress and time I have wasted dealing with these experiences.

I've ordered textbooks for school from Chegg for the past two years - usually with no issues. Until recently. They shipped someone else's order to my door (with my address on the outside, someone else's address and order number on the packing slip on the inside). Their only solution to this issue is to send me another copy of a book that I've stated I don't want anymore, I've requested a refund and they've refused to give it to me.
I got ahold of them last night when I discovered the issue & the rep was incredibly unhelpful, rude, and flat out told me they were closing "right now" and couldn't do anything else to help me aside from issue me another copy of the book. Now I have two copies of the same book floating around in the Postal Service that I don't want, I've spent three hours on hold today alone trying to get in touch with these people during every available free moment during my day. Nobody answers, hold times ranging from ten minutes to forty-five. This is ridiculous, so ridiculous that I bought the book on campus instead since classes started yesterday and I needed the text. At this point, I just want my $147.00 back and to never deal with this horrible company again. Do not give them your business!

When I first heard about Chegg, I thought about it the way you're probably thinking about it: it was a friendly, much needed hub where college students could purchase textbooks that normally cost hundreds upon hundreds of dollars for an unbelievably discounted price. Firstly, let me tell you, there are ways to get your college textbooks for cheap. Amazon is my number one suggestion as they saved me when I figured out what Chegg really was (and my checkout price was cheaper than it was on Chegg). A professor of mine talked about Chegg as if we weren't supposed to hear about it; as if it was a private club that you could only enter by invite only. She wouldn't talk about it until kids brought it up, at which point in time she raved about its incredibility. So, naturally, I sought it out. I rented my music appreciation book through Chegg, used it throughout the course, returned it, and was more than happy with their service.
Then, however, I transferred schools and was in need of more textbooks--four more this time. I went to Chegg, and found that their website was down. Alright, it happens. No site is perfect. I waited two days, figuring they'd have resolved any issues by this time. But, alas, no. Chegg was still down. I decided to do some research and see if this is something that happens to Chegg often; what I found was staggering. I understand if your site goes down once every few months or even once a month. Lots of people use Chegg. However, there are reports on "down detector" that have Chegg registered as "down" on and off for as far back as October of last year--and that's only as far back as I refreshed. This is unacceptable. If your site is "the best kept secret of college success", you'd better live up to that. You'd better smack Amazon in prices and you certainly should be "down" pretty much never.
Finally, after one more day (today), it was back up and running. At last. My books were still in my cart, and I moved to check out quickly as I desperately needed my books--classes had already started and I was depending on Chegg. I clicked "checkout" and was prompted to purchase some kind of subscription before paying. (As if I was in any mood to give them money for totally letting me down). I clicked "No, thanks", and proceeded with checkout, only to be redirected to Chegg's home page. Okay, this happens, maybe it's just my browser. I clicked "checkout" to enter the same process and reach the same end. I tried this at least ten more times (the last two of which I rebooted my computer for) all to no achieve no success. I was absolutely livid.
I needed Chegg and they'd abandoned me. Finally, I decided to utilize Amazon and at least see what the damage would be if I ordered my books from them. I speak the truth when I say that my final price was twelve dollars less on Amazon than it was on Chegg--and I even purchased an additional book. I now fully intend to use Amazon for all my college textbook needs as I learned the hard way that it's number one for a reason. If you managed to make it to the end of this, I'll leave you with this: when you have the opportunity to buy from "the best kept secret of college success", save yourself the frustration and disappointment and just use Amazon.

The homework solutions are correct approximately 70% of the time, which means it provides a decent means to check your answers for the more difficult problems you encounter in your homework. The problem with the service, however, is that it is set up in a way so that when you are done with the sites services you are unable to deactivate your account or remove your credit card information without going through several lines of customer service providers. This shady model was used in full by Chegg to attempt to drain additional income out of my account after I had used the service for several months, finished my courses and canceled my subscription.
This occurred by a Chegg employee logging into my account, signing up for tutoring and querying multiple people to charge me over $100.00 for this service (One that I had never used), a month after my subscription ran out. If it wasn't for the emails I received with tutor responses I never would have even known. In the end I had to go through my credit card company to revoke these charges. Also, Aux cover now has also billed me for a service I do not use, as well as a service dog and the charges began as soon as Chegg began charging me for additional falsified payments, so I am worried that Chegg has also given out my card information to other sites. Seriously, stay away from this site, it is entirely untrustworthy and you very well may end up having to deactivate whatever card you put on the site.

I sold six books to Chegg, which at first seemed like it'd be a painless interaction, however has proven to be anything but. They sent me money for three of my books, however they said that the other three were in poor condition. The precalculus book I sent was quoted the highest and was brand new, they marked it as being in poor condition and stated that it would be recycled. I called customer service, she asked for my email and then without having me explain my situation told me that it would be mailed back.
She stated that sometimes books that are sent in just don't fit the needs for what they're selling, but if that was the case then why put anyone through the trouble of scanning each book for a quote and then giving a quote for a book you have no use/need for? When I asked why the website stated it would be recycled she said, "no they'll send it back." According to other reviews, it doesn't sound like they usually do send them back unless it is at your expense. It seems as though this system was not thought through, it is not customer friendly, and I would not sell books through Chegg again. It truly feels like you're being scammed.

Although Chegg does offer a valuable service; the student should be aware that reading the fine print is considered part of becoming a responsible adult. Chegg requires a credit card to be inputted in order to "TRY IT NOW". This card will be placed on an automatic payment until it is canceled by the user. After being charged for several months, I caught the charge on my credit card statement and called Chegg. They were initially hesitant to offer more than one month of refund, but eventually agreed to three. I was told that if a student was only planning on using this service for one month, to sign up and then immediately cancel. This would allow service for a month without incurring additional charges. I would have rated this 2.5 stars if I was able to, because I was not totally dissatisfied with Chegg, but not entirely satisfied with the clarity of their service and charges. Again, they do offer a valuable service, but maybe need to tweak the system a bit.

Chegg is doing me a "courtesy" by extending my books for one month and wants me to re-purchase them... Why would I have even purchased the books at full price knowing I would have to return them in four weeks? Rented and purchased books for a year but will not be returning after this disaster. I have sold back TONS of books over the years... Chegg happened to come in as the highest price this time. Sent in my book that was essentially brand new! Received an e-mail approx two weeks later that the book was in poor condition and they will recycle it. UM, NO!!!! You are not going to "recycle" my book. The website states:
"From time to time, books that students send us don't match the books on the buyback order - sometimes the condition is not as good as represented, in other cases it's simply not the same book. In those cases, we cannot process the buyback payment but instead we will hold the book for 14 days in our warehouse. You may contact us within this time to have the book returned to you at your expense. If you do not contact us, Chegg will treat this as an abandoned book and may donate it, recycle it or liquidate it." WHICH THEY DO NOT LET YOU KNOW BY EMAIL. I find it ironic that their offer price was so high, and now they won't pay me. SCAM. SCAM. SCAM! Never again, all other sites will simply return your book if it is not a match or "poor" condition. The cover had very minimal wear and all in all it was in great condition. I waited for two weeks before reaching out to Chegg via Twitter. Someone looked into my account and let me know that the contracts book was not in the condition they wanted. No big deal but I requested to have it sent back rather than donated to Chegg. They sent the book back with extensive damage and stickers that cannot be removed. I have not received an answer nor any money about the property book I sent and my account show the book is "in transit" despite the customer service rep telling me the book was received and checked in 3 weeks ago.

I never got a confirmation email that it shipped so I contacted them. They said it wasn't up to their standards. I'm having them send it back to me. And selling it elsewhere. I didn't turn any pages or had any highlighting or underlining. I used it for FIVE WEEKS. Waste of time. Do not sell books to them.

The original estimated payment date was 8/26 now they are saying to wait until 9/11. *SCAM* TAKE CELL PHOTOS OF BOOKS BEFORE MAILING TO THEM - I mail 5 "like new" conditioned books for buyback. None of the books had writing or any highlighting. Cover and spine in "like new" condition. Chegg received the books and never updated their website tracking information. So, I telephoned customer service after a week from when the books arrived. Customer Service was terrible, they just read from their website and written policy. After waiting 4 weeks and still no payment, I telephoned again and was told that 2 of my books were in poor condition - yet they could not tell me what "poor condition" meant regarding the 2 books.
I never received any emails from Chegg telling me what was wrong with my books nor when I would get paid. Chegg claims they will mail back the 2 poor conditioned books. I believe that Chegg does not want to honor the price that they quote and lies about the condition of the books so that they do not have to pay what they quoted. Chegg is very shady, and will not be doing business with them again.

Not only did I NOT receive this 1 day shipping but after I emailed them demanding they fix this problem or give me a full refund, they responded saying they would not respond to my emails because it was not on their suggested questions or actions on their customer service page.
I do not like speaking on the phone, I will get too angry. But I do have their phone number. If you check their website, nowhere on it does it talk about how to DIRECTLY talk to a representative or contact them. Not to mention, the contact us page that had nothing to do with actually contacting them is all the email kept referring me to. So I will be giving them a call here soon. I bought a subscription to the Chegg Study service. I wanted to make sure that during my course, my homework explored the whole spectrum of the questions I was assigned. This book that I speak of asks very loaded questions with many parts to them. So with Chegg Study is advertises 'Textbook Solutions' which led me to believe that these were the answers in the back of the book for like a 'Teacher's edition'. Well, I learned on the first chapter I used the service on that these were not textbook answers and almost seem like they were written by other college students who did not read the material. After having read the chapter already, I was willing to help Chegg with Chapters (The first 11 chapters of 16) knowing that the help was eventually going to get better. In my opinion, it actually did the opposite.
The further I go into this book, the more unsubstantiated the answers are becoming to the point that I am doing more work proving why the answers are wrong to Chegg (with page numbers and figures/diagrams that blatantly disagree with the answer Chegg gives). I've been fair by trudging through this far into the book, to see if the help gets better and it hasn't. I'll also consider trying Chegg Study with another book with the same attitude that I had going into this book. Overall I am dissatisfied because I thought I was getting one thing and I got something else. The only reason that this is getting more than 1 star is because with the wrong answers. It gave me more incentive to go from knowing that an answer was wrong to exactly why it was wrong down to the sentence.

Also, their textbook rentals have the solutions for it for a monthly subscription. But some of the books are priced not much lower than a book you can purchase. Their prices are seemingly dynamic. I also don't like how some of the books that would be really helpful with a solutions guide actually does not have a solutions guide. Nevertheless, their process is completely easy and simple. You pay shipping for one way and they email you a return label, all you have to do is drop it off to the nearest UPS. Shipping is fair and rental time is more than enough.

I was headed to the store on Saturday to grocery shop and like normal people do I checked my account so I can know how much to spend and noticed that my account was in the negative because Chegg took more money out of my account that was not authorized.
Surprisingly they can steal your money out on a Saturday but they are not open on the weekend to discuss why! So unfortunately no grocery shopping for me and my 3 children that I have to feed Chegg! So I patiently waited and called this morning only for a Representative to tell me that when books ship separately they charge more to your account. Huh? I was so confused as to why their website did not specify that if your books ship separately we are going to take more money out of your account to rip off our customers!
Now I have to wait up to 2 business days according to the rep to receive my money back but it only took them 1 day to put my account into the negative! Shoppers beware that Chegg will take more money out of your account that they are authorized to. SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PLENTY OF MONEY IN YOUR ACCOUNT WHEN PURCHASING FROM CHEGG!!!! :((

Chegg.com saved me a lot of money when I was in college. I rented most of my textbooks from them and only purchased a book when I absolutely had to. The returns were easy and free, making the process that much effortless. To start you go to the Chegg website and search for the book that you need. It lets you search by title, author, or ISBN on the homepage. From there you select your book that you need and checkout, just like buying anything else online. They send you the book and when you return it, you just send it back in any box with the prepaid shipping label that they send with the book. However, there were some times when I could not find a specific textbook that I needed for a class and that was frustrating. That is not to say that the selection is bad, it is just that they do not carry every book that you will need in college.

I mailed the book back at my own expense in order to be sure it returned on time, as I had additional exams close to when the rental period ended. But sometimes, the books don't come by the timeline they're promised, the shipping is expensive to expedite and the books are badly worn. There is often writing in them, and some pages have been torn. E-books also make studying easier and they have a large variety of different textbooks available to rent so it is easy to find the one you need. But there should be better interface to read the book once it has been rented, i.e. something more akin to a Kindle app where one can easily read the textbook and search its contents. This would be better instead of just reading the rented book through their website or just downloading the book as a plain file. The site also made it a bit difficult to find the exact book I was looking for, i.e. the edition of the book I needed as there were so many different versions of each book available and the titles were not entirely clear as to which is which. The books are so much cheaper than buying; there are some textbooks I want to keep for reference, and some I will never look at again. They shouldn't sell books with missing pages and should categorize them better. Organize by years and maybe even classes... Make sample words you can input of class you're taking. Once the rental period is over the company will provide you with a shipping label that you have to print out and attach to the package. The best part is that you can ship the books back in the same box you received the books in. They make everything easy for you to rented or purchase textbooks and they have the best customer service center so if you have a problem you will always have someone there to assist you. Reliable, dependable and affordable.

This company is one of the best companies that I have found for renting textbooks. The process of renting a book is super quick, easy, and cheap. Returning the book is just as easy. They provide you with the box and shipping label and all you have to do is drop it off. They also include samples of products with every Chegg order which is good when you want to try something out without buying the product. This company makes everything so easy and accessible for their customers. Even when you decide that you do not need the book they allow you to return the book within a couple days and refund all the money. This company is one of my most favorite to use.

I liked the price, saved me tons rather than purchasing full price. Also like the ability to rent a book for the duration of the course and that I could order online. I found the title online, paid and the book was shipped. I used and returned it and I also received email reminders regarding shipping and returning the book. I also liked the fact that shipping for the return of the book was included. However, some of the textbooks I rented were previous versions of the same author but they seemed to work. They should keep in stock the most current version.

Chegg.com was much more affordable than the campus bookstore, and the rental period was longer, so I didn't have to worry about returning the book in the madness of finals week. Faster shipping would be helpful, but overall it was an easy process and the company was great and easy to work with. I selected the books that I needed, and I ordered them with no problems. It took four or so days to ship, which was longer than Amazon, and it was about a week after that it arrived. The return process was a breeze though.

I loved being able to find a large variety of textbooks and the editions that I needed. Renting the textbook is easy and the online platform allows you to find exactly what you're looking for down to the edition you need! The book comes right to you for half the price of buying the book and returning the book is done by mail and is flexible. I think the whole process is very easy and that everyone should do it. But I wish there were local drop off points so that I could bring them back in person as opposed to having to ship back via mail. Aside from that there's nothing that I would change about the website and Chegg! It saved me so much money over the four years of college! I didn't find out about Chegg until my sophomore year and I wish I had found out about it earlier.

The website was Attractive and Easy to navigate. Most of my books were there. They were easy to find. The info on books needed for each class was accurate. I liked that you could extend the loan or purchase the books if you wanted. The purchase price was affordable. Shipped directly to my home. My books arrived in plenty of time for my classes. The return process was easy though I did choose to keep some of the texts for reference.
It was annoying to get so many emails after I graduated and no longer needed the service. Otherwise it was a good experience. I highly recommend checking them out. It is worth the time. Customer service is helpful too. Takes the stress out of buying textbooks. Give them a try. Choose the books you need. Choose rental period or purchase if you prefer. Pay online. They also always seem to carry whichever book it is that I am looking for. And then, renting and returning the books is a very simple process and I have never had any issues. First you log onto your account and then browse the books till you find what you need. Once it is ordered you are given a set date to return the book. The package comes with a return shipping envelope. When it is time to return I simply go to UPS and ship it back. They also send out emails that are helpful and enjoyable to read. Chegg study is great and very helpful as a student. It helps you break down the information in your textbook and helps you study topics for classes. Like having a personal tutor. However, the layout of the website itself feels complicated and not all that user friendly. If you aren't signed in, you get basically no information and can't do anything. The search tool isn't great and your search has to be very specific in order to find what you're looking for. Aside from that, you find the book you're looking for in the search option and choose between rent or buy. If you rent, the book is sent to you in the mail. There is also a twenty one day satisfaction guarantee that allows you risk free returns if you aren't happy with your book for any reason. Once you're done, you send the book back using the label they provide for you.

It was a standard price for shipping and it came in the shape described. After my rental period was over, I simply mailed the book back using the shopping information provided. It is convenient and cost-effective, but their selection is somewhat more limited than sites like Amazon, and often the books you need are out of stock or unavailable. Very convenient as most of the textbooks used by professors are available on Chegg.com. Perhaps Chegg could lower the cost of textbook rentals or perhaps provide chapter by chapter rental. Since some professors only use part of a textbook or even a few chapters, it would be useful if Chegg.com provide an option to rent out chapters rather than the whole book. Also, Chegg could work with major universities to give students bundle discounts. The books I rented we're mostly ebooks. I did rent a hard copy of the book that was sent to me via post but it caused too much hassle as I had to pay my own return shipping cost that was not covered by Chegg. Delivery was usually on time for classes starting depending on myself and my ability to place the order on time. I searched a few websites for the books I needed and I chose the website that had the best options I wanted... it was either buying a cheap used book and hoping I can get a fraction of that cost when in return the book or paying an even smaller price already knowing I'm probably going to return the book anyways... the choice was easy! They include the return label & you can use the same box to make the returns effortless on the renters part. They also remind you when the books are due which is helpful because it's busy at the end of the semester & it's easy to forget. However, they don't seem to carry some of the newer stuff or most recent edition. I am in a specific program in the medical setting & they did not have any of my books this semester because they are new editions & they are unique to our profession. It was kind of a disappointment.
Also, I think it would be helpful if they offer some deals or acknowledge returning users by rewarding them with discounts. Chegg used to be cheaper but now it is pretty comparable to other online book renters, what makes them different now? If they offered more discounts or rewards that made customers stay loyal, that might be helpful. College is expensive & students have less & less money to spend on books due to other expenses. Maybe they could offer a scholarship or an option similar to that in order to help students purchase their books. The sad truth is, most students won't even get the book for their class because they cannot afford it & their grades suffer from that.

They have free return labels and not being stuck with the books long term after the courses are over. College is already a lot of money as is and the textbooks shouldn't be added on as well. My biggest gripe would be books that already have a lot of highlighting within them or that are ripped. In the end you get what you pay and you do have the option of getting a better but the money is obviously more.
The process is relatively easy. The first thing I do is I look up the IBS and number. Then I price compare between the options. I click whichever one I work. If I have Amazon Prime I get the 2-day shipping and have it delivered to the house. Around the due date term I'll get an email to remind me to return it as well as a prepaid label that I can print out. First with creating your account, they would not tell you that what you have paid is just for useless services that includes books' solutions that not 100% accurate and not all the questions are solved. Second, their very expensive prices, and eventually after paying $130 you can have one questions out of 7 group of questions is not solved and 3 are solved in wrong way using wrong formula to get an answer that 95% near to what it should be.
Third, the support team they just see you as $$$, not anything else. After am done with every tutor, when I try to rate him or write him a review about his performance, the system didn't allow me to rate if I would rank negatively. But if I would rate positively it was allowed. PLUS you can get a tutor who is rated very good but when you ask him about some doubts you got about his explanation but he ignoring you or talking to you like he doesn't want you to ask. That website is just made for earning money, ignoring the value that can be added by their customers to their business if they got them really satisfied.

One night I was desperately looking for help on problems from my data mining class. Chegg advertised 30 minutes of free tutoring, so I made an account. The tutors either couldn't help me or wanted me to schedule an hours-long session for another day. Oh well, so I signed off. Then, I saw a $15 bank charge for that day. I assumed that I had gone over the 30 minutes and I was billed by the minute. But a week later, I was charged another $15 and, another $15 charge is currently processing. All the information I had seen indicated that Chegg tutoring charged by the minute, yet I had automatically been subscribed to weekly review sessions! $15 a week for 30 minutes of tutoring. I was being charged for time that I never even used. So angry.

This is an unethical site. They are specifically targeting poor students during exams and employ tutors from countries on site and pay them less than 3 $$ for 2 hours work per question. This is far below the mandated Minimum wage in the US. It is clear they make a great deal of money this way and they are contributing to the lowering of educational standards by allowing students to copy plagiarized answers from sites which have information which is then passed on the students on smartphones during proctored exams.

I had to buy several textbooks and the prices/shipping on Chegg was unbeatable. Only one of the textbooks was cheaper on Amazon, and overall its pricing was weird (the hardcover was cheaper than the paperback, and the price jumped over the last couple of days). For one of the textbooks, the ebook was about half of the price of the paperback. I was considering getting it instead, but didn't want to risk having a bad ebook and no access to the real thing. I'm really glad I didn't depend on it, because I've been taking a look at the courtesy ebook they give you and it's terrible!
Keep in mind that this is for a bit of a different type of textbook (a collection of poetry and pictures) but there is absolutely no table of contents. Not a single one. There are marked chapters in the *text* but not according to the Chegg system! I can't imagine trying to navigate this on a late night when I had to get my reading done efficiently or quickly. Since it's a book of poems, you'd be jumping around it. Since the page numbers are rather inaccurate as well, this would mean a LOT of scrolling to find the right spot. All in all, make sure you check out your textbook right away if you get one. The Chegg return policy is very time-based, so if you wait too long it's going to be too late. If it's a textbook that you don't end up using until the middle of the semester, and find out that it's worthless... then you're fresh out of luck.

The customer service for Chegg is beyond AWFUL. I called once in the fall when I was looking to rent a textbook for my son and the representative I spoke with was completely unhelpful and unprofessional. We ended up renting from there anyway and I'm sorry we did. I had signed up for a trial of their tutoring, didn't realize I had to cancel after 4 weeks and until today I didn't realize I was being charged monthly. I called and got another unprofessional representative. She said she'd try to refund the current charge but couldn't do anything about the other two so I asked to speak to a manager. After being on hold for five minutes, she came back stating there was no manager available (really?!) and they would have to call me back (I'm holding my breath). I'd rather pay a few extra bucks and use a better company with customer service reps that actually help the customer.

The chegg e-textbook is incredibly restrictive in terms of finding content. The search function makes me scream and thus has already wasted countless hours in finding specific material within chapters. I'm done with chegg permanently only in part of this. Using control+f doesn't work, and most of the time when you manually use the find function, the function can't pick up on the characters. When I reload the page, it picks up on new characters I was searching for, and can't find other characters it found previously... This benefit is why I use e-textbooks and has rendered cheggs books absolutely USELESS for me.

I sent a follow-up email asking them to tell me specifically what they wanted. No response. I called customer service. After having to do a web search because they don't list the number on their site, and the rep said that she would give me the phone number to the hiring department because this "department isn't mines." I subscribed to Chegg's tutoring service and the experience of the product was ok. The real issues began when, after one month, I decided to cancel. Despite the cancellation the charges kept occurring. Navigating their website in order to cancel the account, or check why the cancelation didn't go through, or get support about the issue is a nightmare. They have clearly designed it so that it's as difficult as possible for the customer to get out of the deal. After months, I was, finally, able to get a hold of someone. They were able to identify the problem and they did cancel the subscription and refunded the last month. Getting the charges refunded from the previous months, however, became another nightmare.
In such case, Chegg wants you to file an official dispute with your credit card in order to be able to refund such charges. The credit card, though, can only dispute charges from a couple of months ago and when I went back to Chegg to ask about what else could be done their BS answer was simply: "Sorry, our system is not designed to give refunds in such case." Beware of these hacks.

He then said that he would contact me the following morning and needless to say I never heard from him again. I then contacted another tutor for the same assignment and I received from him an illegible lesson and an abstract that was basically plagiarized from Wikipedia, of all places!!! All of this waste of time and then charged $147.00 without my knowledge on top of it??? This seems to me to be some sort of scam!! Not only did I not get any help with the assignment, but to be charged for it is totally ridiculous.

In an economy where every opportunity is a possible stream of income, high end professionals are tutoring to make ends meet. So, you can imagine when I came across Chegg.com, this seems like a great fit and an easy way to network with potential students. Now, I have been teaching, instructing, and tutoring for over two decades, in several industries from academic, business, to training commercial truck drivers. I submitted my credentials, filled out the application process, and after clicking submit, I get a screen that basically tells you "If we have a need for your services, we'll contact you." Excuse me? I waited a week and the next email basically said "Sorry, we can't use you."
Here's a great idea for people to tutor others, and the powers in charge are sifting through professionals and cherry picking. While there isn't anything inherently wrong with this practice, perhaps at the beginning of the application process this should be stated, so a would-be tutor has a clear understanding that unlike THUMBTACK.COM, your services are rated by the customers you actually tutor, CHEGG is going to assess your ability to be approved BEFORE you ever get a chance to tutor a student.
CHEGG's best practice lacks certain professional courtesies that a career instructor should be afforded. Telling me that my 20+ years as a professional accredited and certified instructor is unworthy of being approved... "We are sorry to inform you that your tutor application is not approved. We have to meet the educational demands of our student base, and after reviewing your application, it's not the right fit for us at this time. We appreciate you taking the time to apply for the position, and will notify you should we change our policies on reapplication. At this time, you are not permitted to reapply."
On the surface, CHEGG sounds like a great tool to help professional instructors reach out and help others. However, behind the scenes, CHEGG is not actually accepting tutors - they are are in the business of accepting students. So, when you're browsing Craigslist and come across this ad, "Make $20+/hour Tutoring Online", after opening it you see this... "Set your own schedule, Make $20+/hour, Work from anywhere, Bask in the good karma of helping others. Signing up is easy! Visit our site to apply: https://www.chegg.com/tutors/." Be careful to ask questions about whether they are actually looking for talent or students.

I followed the website as to the status and the notifications via my email account. Everything seemed to moving smoothly. Books checked in 3 days after I mailed them. Was notified that the check was cut and mailed out on 9/7. 10 working days later I did not receive the check yet. I called and was told it would take 15 working days (2.5 weeks) for me to receive the check that was mailed out on 9/8 (a day later than the website said). So now we are at 16 working days after they received the books and 9 working days (10 if you count 9/7) and no check.
I called Chegg and I am being told that it will take 15-20 working days for the check to arrive after the check is mailed. A different story. I spoke with a US Postal Inspector and was told there is no possible way that a 1st Class piece of mail should take longer than three days even if mailed from the other side of the US. I called and talked to a Sam who told me he is a Supervisor. I told him I needed the check number of the check that was mailed out on either the 7th or 8th of Sept 2016. He told me that he could not do that as one did not exist. I mentioned to him then that this is a red flag to me. Either there is a check number which would note that one was mailed out and can be tracked or they are lying and trying to cover their tracks.
Sam even admitted that I did not receive accurate information regarding the check. I encouraged him to get me the check number or I would be filing a criminal complaint for mail fraud (I am a retired Federal Law Enforcement Officer). I cannot say actually what I think is going on here for I do not have the facts YET. I want others to look around before buying books and selling books from any vendor. I've posted several questions to be answered but it often took several days if not weeks for CORRECT and RELEVANT answers to be put up, which is ridiculous if it's a homework question with a closer deadline.
Their website has this quote "Over 90% of Chegg Study users report better grades" (from May 2015 survey for only Chegg study users), which is humorous considering it may actually be right because anyone dissatisfied (such as me and pretty much any other student I know) quickly discontinues their membership. I feel bad for the >90% because they were suckered into the marketing ideas. If they were smart enough to raise grades with Chegg, then they're definitely better off going for a cheaper, more dependable option. At least they should allow the student to reject such terrible answers or allow free questions so I can repost my damn question over and over. Anyways, at the end you get out with nothing. This website doesn't help students at all... their rates are totally expensive for students. I go with the pay as you go tutoring and it's .75 usd cents per minute. That's $45 per hour for tutoring!!!

This is absolutely absurd!!! I paid for extra texts outside of my required texts in an attempt to have a better source and better understanding of the material. I finally find a book that has very similar material and problems and then I go to look at the step-by-step solutions to guide me through, and my account gets blocked out. It was stated that it may take 30 days to unblock my account!!! 30 ** DAYS!!! I pay for school, rent, books, bills, everything! I cannot afford to be wasting money on a product that just gets taken away from me for trying to get multiple aspects to a subject... Such a joke...

First off, it took me almost 2 months to get paid, and only reason I did was because I emailed them so many times about my books. Second off, they said they couldn't find my second book so I only got paid for one. This was their error because I sent them in the same box and their order numbers were the same.

You guys complain about the darnest things. In fine print it states that if you don't cancel your membership your card will be charged. After free trial I recommend anybody to get $96 membership monthly which gives 240 minutes because if you can relate I have more than one homework I might need assistance with, but I was new to this so I wasn't sure. Now that I'm very acquainted with this site I love it. Pros: There are great tutors especially with high ratings. They know their stuff. Cons: Some of the great tutors can try to squeeze the last penny you have, for example your answer is incorrect instead of not giving you the correct answer, they will ask you a question in the question you asked, that's not helpful.
Pros: There are some tutors who will guide you to that correct answer, maybe ask a simple question to dig deep into your mind so you have a better understanding of the difficult question you could not answer. Cons: Some may lie that they done this material. Pros: if you explain detail for detail what you requested and expect. The chegg specialist can look at the work you requested and see if the tutor fulfill your expectation....AND POSSIBLY GET A REFUND!
Now if you know the expectation was "quality" work but not what you expected you simply have to request more help. Maybe not a hour time of help you requested but half an hour should be enough. Also tutors have their own life so I suggest having 3 strong tutors just in case one couldn't finish your work on time. And please allow time sending in your homework.
I think I've summarize everything. I would recommend my favorite tutor but I think they will block any names I provide plus everybody has different ways they like to be taught. It's not chegg fault that your tutor was not the best. Simply ask if they can help you out, anybody will tell you yes just a small risk... I've gotten 2 refunds out of 15 lesson, I never ask to put it back on my debit card but simply on chegg tutor account because I know I will use their service again. I'm very realistic. Everybody is not perfect.

When you sign up for the Cheggs Tutor service. Part of the sign up involves giving your credit card information in the event that you actually utilize their services. I attempted to make contact with several tutors to no avail. After numerous successful attempts I quit and let it be. A month later I checked my card transactions and noticed that Cheggs had debited me 4 times for $15 for an 'account subscription'. I called the customer service representatives and they sent me an email claiming they can only refund me for two billing cycles. I informed them that I NEVER signed up for this services, never received an email from them confirming my supposed subscription - despite the fact I received dozens of promotional emails from them I mysteriously am unable to find the one detailing the agreement of the services.
I asked if they could send me those emails, so I could review the agreements. They were unable to produce a copy of the supposed agreement. I asked them, where is the proof that I actually signed up for the Cheggs services! So essentially when I signed up for the services they put me on automatic subscriptions, without my consent or knowledge! I am very careful about signing up for these services and would have noticed such a clause (e.g. similar to Amazon Prime etc.). They are scam artists and I have a very strong feeling they will get caught because this is essentially credit card FRAUD!

Chegg is one of the worst places to buy or sell textbooks. They give false information on when you would hear back from a representative. They are constantly telling you 2-3 business days and no one will ever follow up with you. I sold 2 textbooks to them over a month ago and I was told I would receive payment of about $65. I had to get in contact with over 4 different people for them to tell me they have lost the textbooks in the warehouse, but they had seen that they were received at some point. I was finally told that a check would be sent to me, but it would take 5 business days to be financed and then an additional 15 business days to even see the check! Why was this not just sent directly to my Paypal account?! So overall this whole process is going to take 2 months! DO NOT USE CHEGG TO SELL ANY KIND OF TEXTBOOK!!!

I subscribed to Chegg Study and Tutors and the service was fine when I was using it, although they seem to let ANYBODY answer the questions. For example, a question would be posted and the tutors or "experts" would answer the questions, but they'd very clearly have the wrong formula or they'd just randomly guess on multiple choice questions. I was taking a finance course and half the people didn't even show their work. I was not looking for an answer key, I was looking for a study aid. If you're trying to cheat your way through your homework, this site is great. If you actually want to learn how things are done and see them properly worked out, explore other options.
Also, they make it nearly impossible to cancel the recurring 16 dollar fee. If you go to your account information, none of the links work. They just bring you back to the account page. If you manage to make your way to the customer service page, it gives you the option to cancel your account by either chatting with a representative or calling. Why not just allow customers to cancel on the "accounts" page? It took forever to find the customer service information, and when you do, the chat link brings open a new window that says, "This server cannot be found." Fine.
I had to dig around some more to find a phone number, and I sat on hold for 30 minutes with the most insufferable music I've ever heard. Then the guy on the phone seemed like he had the IQ of a carrot. I clearly spelled out my email several times and he couldn't get it right even when I spelled it out with the NATO phonetic alphabet (A as in Alpha, B as in Bravo, C as in Charlie, D as in Delta etc). He got it wrong literally 10 times, to a point where I'm fairly certain he was doing it on purpose. He was American and English speaking so language barrier cannot even be used as an excuse. If you need online tutoring or homework help, I advise exploring different options. Chegg is more headache than it's worth.

I have 2 major issues with Chegg.com: 1) I ordered a new book, with access codes to the online labs I had to do, and paid for it. I was sent a used book with expired codes. When I confronted them about it I was told they were out of new stock so they sent me old ones. Did I pay for an old book? No! So now I'm behind in class because Chegg didn't even bother telling me they were out of stock before taking my money and shipping the book. Which leads me to #2.
2) I ordered 4 books from Chegg, 3 rentals and the above mentioned purchase. I had a coupon for free shipping. I thought "great, this will save me time and money." Wrong! It only applied to 1 of the 4 books. When I went to check out I selected delivery on the 3rd of the month, the default was the 8th. The page reloaded after I entered my payment information, and defaulted back to the 8th. I didn't catch that until after I hit submit. I thought, "No big deal. I'll just contact customer service and they will fix it." Wrong again! After 30 minutes on hold I am told that they can't fix the issue, they don't even have access to their orders.
Now how exactly does an online company have a customer service department that can't even access their own orders? Isn't that USELESS!? Unsatisfied I asked to speak to a manager. 10 more minutes on hold later the same woman comes back on, not the manager, and tells me that the manager is busy and I can send a letter. My only options were to cancel the order, wait 5-10 business days for my $400+ refund, and start over. I don't have the money to buy somewhere else without that $400 in my account, nor did I have the time to wait that long for my refund. They had me over a barrel, and knew it!
Lastly after my horrible customer service experience I blasted this company on Facebook where I was told to contact someone to see if they could fix it. I did, and all they did was tell me the exact same thing. The customer service rep told me, except at this point it was too late to cancel my order? What a sham of a business this is! I look forward to the day where I try to open www.chegg.com and I am told that the link is no longer valid. Horrid customer service, horrible product knowledge, and misrepresentation of products!

And forget about dealing with this company, they have 3 different people emailing you asking you for an explanation as to what went wrong... it is such a tedious task dealing with this company because they are the middle man and do not deal with the tutors directly, they have another company called "InstaEDU" that actually runs the show from the tutors' side of things.
