My mother-in-law sent me two $50 gift cards. She sent it priority mail and paid for that service. 11 days later (instead of the 4 promised by our wonderful USPS), the padded manila envelope arrived not only damaged, but the gift cards were not in the envelope. Instead were two canisters of arctic mint flavored snuff. So obviously, someone opened this envelope, took the cards and replaced it with the snuff that I have every intention of throwing away since I can think of much faster ways to ruin my life. This is not the first time that I've had problems with the USPS delivery. To put salt on the wound, since insurance was not taken out on it, I was told that the post office will probably not do anything to reimburse my troubles.

This proves a very valuable lesson. Ship via FedEx or UPS, at least they insure the package with no extra fees. With all this, I will never ship anything via the Post Office. It may or may not ever get there in one piece.

I had a priority packet mail sent to me from GA. I track it from there all the way to Kansas City on the USPS website. It said it was out for delivery on Nov. 15, 2010. Well, it did not come that day to my house. So, I did not get upset. I thought maybe the post man ran out of time getting to me that day. Well, I paid it. I did not get any mail that day. When I check the site again the next day, it’s now Nov. 16, 2010, it was confirmed that it had been delivered on Nov. 15, 2010 at 1:15 pm. It was posted for another whole zip code. I live in 66102. It was confirmed that it was delivered in 66101.

I’m freaking out that someone got my packet. I called the post office. I talked with a guy named John. I told him his mail person had dropped my packet off at the wrong address. John told me not to worry, he would look into it. I was told by John that he would call me the next day. Well, he hung up in my face without getting my number. I called the post office back so I could leave my number. Well, no one answered so I called the next day. This is now Nov. 17, 2010 talk with John. Again, he told me he needed my confirmation number so he could check it online. I said okay. He said, “Yup, I see it was delivered.”

I told yes, at the wrong house. I told John again my zip is 66102, not 66101. He said, “Okay, let me look into it more. Call me back in an hour.” I called him back. John told me his mail person that delivers in the area did not drop any packet. John said, “Don’t worry. I will talk with the delivery people when everyone get in. Call back later.” I said okay once again. I called back. Someone else answered the phone. I asked for John. I was told, “He is not here. What can I help you with?” I explained all over again to this person. He asked for my confirmation number. I told him, “Let me call you back. I have to find my paper.” He said okay.

I called back in 5 minutes. I talked with this guy. It sounds just like the guy named John I talk with the last few days gave him the information. He told me I have problems with my computer. He said, “Let me call you back.” I said, “This is getting crazy. Let me have the number to your head post office or post master.” He gave me the number and told me, “I’m sorry. Call back tomorrow and ask for john. He will be able to help you.” I just said okay.

Well, I called that number he gave me that he said was the headquarters office. Well, guess what? It was another line of the same person I just got off the phone with. I said, “Hello. I thought you said this was the main office.” He said, “Miss, just call back the next day.” This would be Nov. 18, 2010. Well, I called bright and early. I said, “Hello, can I speak to John?” The guy on the phone was the same person I had been talking with the last few days. I asked about the packet and what was going on. He said, “There is nothing I can do for you. No one here remembers delivering a packet.” I said, “What do I do now to get my packet?” He said, “Come down and make a claim.”

I went down there about 4:30 to make a claim. I spoke with this game named Pat, what you know the same voice. I told him what was going on. He said, “We don’t do claims here. Go online.” Pat explained to me this happens all the time. I said, “What about my packet? I don’t know what to do.” Pat said, “As very clearly, your cell phones are lost. Just get the company to send you more.” I never told Pat that there were cell phones in my packet. The post stole my packet. I’m very hurt that someone would do this.

I am not receiving my mail at all or if I do it is not in a timely manner. I had a regular letter (money order) sent to me from Toledo Ohio in August and I still have not received it. Had another from Toledo and still have not received it. This town is 75 miles away. There have been packages that were sent out 10 days ago or longer and I still have not received them. I believe it is the Toledo Ohio post office that is messing up everyone's mail. I have books and assignments from my school that are not getting here. I would appreciate this getting looked into. I am constantly not receiving mail that other individuals and businesses assure me they have shipped to my address. In addition, I often (at least twice a month) receive my neighbors mail in my box! I always return my neighbors mail to them but I'm finding it difficult to believe they do the same now that I am missing three things I paid for.

Tampering with the US mail is a federal offense. Who is making sure the USPS does not 'tamper' with my mail? Do they not have standards they are required to operate under? I don't want an attorney. I'm not seeking any damages or anything. I just want my mail that is addressed to me and I want to stop receiving my neighbor's mail. The end.

The packages and the contents were grossly mishandled. The lost items were recovered due to weeks of my efforts, then I found the contents as destroyed. I submitted rightful claims with all documentation, original insurance slips, original boxes to Jenny ** in July 2, 2010. I mailed out complaints to Post General. Autria ** negated the facts and sent two conflicting letters on the same day. I videotaped the opening of the boxes because the exterior clearly showed gross damage and openings. I had to track three of the packages on my own when they were sent back to Missouri after reaching Bell, CA sorting for Santa Monica delivery.

Below is one of the many letters I sent. I also sent them photos of the damage the day I opened and photographed right in the post office building. For whatever reason, they appear to be stalling to cause the claim to expire. For example, corresponding with my mother, opposed to me, who had packed the packages and received them. My mother only carried them to the post office. The insurance is far less than the loss of property, and this has been proven with original receipts and letters from repair professionals along with proof of replacement on similar items.

I am seeking assistance from your agency to obtain the rightful long overdue compensation from the post office. Thank you for your attention to this matter. With an email, I can submit the photos of damage to your agency.

My mother mailed me $100 dollars cash in a card with the card wrapped in paper and sealed in a small envelope at 12:30 pm from an Etiwanda, CA post office. The only reason she could not get a postal money order was because the post office was closed for the weekend and did not have time to wait because she like so many has a busy life. She mailed it to me, her daughter, I live in Medical Lake,WA. She mailed it going on eleven days ago and have yet to receive it.

For those who are not familiar with the time, it takes to mail from CA to WA it takes at very most one week to receive mail as we have done this many times before. My mother went into the post office and asked what happened? And why hasn't her daughter received the money and he had no answers for her. She told him that someone who works for the USPS is responsible for losing or stealing $100! And he said, there would be no way for anyone to know what was in the envelope. Okay? So that some how mean, you're not responsible? She did not put the incorrect address and somehow it's gone? And I'm just supposed to say, "Oh well?" like I or my mother can just afford to lose $100 bucks? The USPS can kiss my ** and shame on us for trusting the US government postal service, is that like trusting the Government appointed police? Or should I just not trust anything with the government?

I have, twice now, sent mail containing money orders payable to my landlord. Both times they have not been delivered. The first instance was approximately two months ago. The second, a week ago. I am sending mail 25 blocks away in the same town and in the same zip code. Both money orders are still uncashed/unclaimed, so it's obvious the mail was not stolen. I sent mail from my apartment complex outbox the first time, my landlord even saw it in there but did not take it out due to laws. It never arrived.

The second time, being that the outgoing mail from my apartment was never delivered, I used one of the blue mailboxes. The mailbox is only 10 blocks from my home, so I assume it is on the same route or goes to the same sorting facility as that of my apartment outgoing mailbox. The money order in the second instance was also undelivered and the money order remains uncashed/unclaimed. I called the post office the first time, thinking it only a fluke, and was given no advice or help whatsoever. I was told, "There's nothing we can do for you if there's no way to track it". Well, being regular old mail, there's no tracking number. The second time I talked to a worker and pleaded my case and explained that one instance was understandable but two instances was not, he agreed and took my name and number and said he would talk to to the carrier but, again, there was really nothing beyond that he could do if the mail did not include a way to track it.

Never got certified mail. USPS claims that they have no information on the package. The only information is that it has left La Crosse, WI Nov. 3 at 2:22 pm 2010. The mailing item is a large check which will be used to pay taxes and USPS told me certified mail is the safest way to send it. I have the tracking number 7010 1870 0000 3311 1494.

I have called the USPS many times and they tell me there is no information and someone will call me two business days. This is ongoing message and their website states check every day for status. There is no status and they will not tell me if they lost the package. USPS told me I would have to contact Consumer Affairs and then if this does not get resolved write a letter to Washington.

Of course, I was speaking to a supervisor and they were laughing. This is not a laughing matter to me and I feel there is nothing I can do. Taxes are due for a home and I did not receive the mailed certified package check to pay them. Insurance company will no longer carry the home and the agent can only find another insurance company that has a higher cost for the same coverage.

Today is 11/15, it has been three weeks and the receiver says that they still didn't get the mail.

This mail was for some official process and it is held due to this passport issue. I had sent a camera on February to Turkey as well from same office, it has been 7 months, but receiver in Turkey still did not get.

When I talked to post office numerous times, they even couldn't find the form about the package that I sent. Taking to account, someone stole my camera in the way and USPS didn't take the responsibility. I am worried about that same thing happened to my passport and visa information. Camera can be bought again, however, if someone gets my passport and visa information due to USPS, there is no way back, thus, I will definitely go to court and sue USPS.

I am very sorry about choosing USPS. I tried to talk to officers but there was no response, they even couldn't find my form about my mail, it is like I've never gone to USPS and sent anything, nothing happened. Could you help me about this matter. What can I possibly do with this problem? USPS doesn't take complaints seriously and does not take the responsibility, could you suggest me some other way around?

It's been now almost a month and three weeks since she sent it and the mail service in Argentina and customs tell me it didn't arrive here and that my friend should make a claim to USPS.

She went to her local USPS office at Thayer St. in Providence but they told her that because it was a first class mail. They couldn't take her claim. I tried to mail them a complain through their customers service website but it doesn't work. It seems they lost my package and I don't know what else to do to contact them for a solution. I did a change of address through USPS on October 4th and got a confirmation number in the mail and my email. Few of my mails were being forwarded to my new address and suddenly, none of the mails started to come. I threw the confirmation mail away but luckily, I saved my confirmation email. The post office lady told me that she needed the confirmation number, or any mails that I received with the yellow-tape for forwarding purposes to prove that I requested the change of address. She probably thought that I was lying or something because it was not showing up on their system, until I showed her my email with the confirmation number. She said that it is weird. I thought that it was taking time for them to forward the mails to my new address, but then I started to question when my pay stubs and law firm mails stopped coming.

I am going through a post-lawsuit with a collection agency right now. I called the agency and they told me that they were going to send me a billing statement for the money that I owe. It is November 9th, I have already stopped receiving any mails for some time along with my pay stubs, so I called the collections. They have already processed the garnishment because I didn't and couldn't respond to their billing statement on time, and on top of the amount that I owe, they added about $100 for filing garnishment with my company. I went to the post office to find out what was going on and it turns out that they couldn't find any record of my name requesting a change of address.

So then, how can I have a confirmation number and a $1 charged on the bank statement? They have not recovered all of my mails yet, including my pay stubs, law firm/collection papers, and a gift card I was supposed to get from my job. I got additional estimated $100 added to the debt I owe and my wage was garnished without my knowledge because I was not receiving any mails, and pay stubs/a gift card I was supposed to receive from my employer.

Today, 11/4/2010 at about 2pm, he came and I was waiting (outside in the rain) to grab our mail because our car was parked in front of the mailbox and my husband accidentally took both sets of keys to work with him.

I went outside when I saw him coming and apologized. However, he felt the need to exit his car and tell me that he will not deliver the mail next time whether I'm out there to grab it or not. He tossed our mail at me and when I tried to speak to him he cut me off with "I don't care". This is not the first confrontation I have had with him. The other times it has been about my 5-year old son waiting (about 10 ft back from the road) to grab the mail after he puts in the box or about the height of our box or how the snow hasn't been "scraped away enough." Up until today, I have brushed him off as an unkind person unhappy in his job. He has always been on the rude side but everyone has just ignored it.

Today was different, him exiting the vehicle without need to alarm me. This along with him practically shouting at me was crossing a line. I have no problem with him not delivering our mail if our box is blocked but if I am out there to meet him then what is the problem? I tried to convey this and apologize for today but he was in my face. Who do I make a complaint to and what if anything can be done? I am not saying my car shouldn't have been moved but there was no need to come at me in such a way.

I regularly receive express mail shipments from the USPS. These have a guaranteed delivery of next day by noon as long as the shipper gets the package to the post office by the proper time, which according to the receipt they get and the USPS website they always do. That being said, the USPS only comes through 1/4 of the time. Typically, they are at least one day late, which is very bad because I need these packages on the day that they are supposed to arrive and the contents are perishable and thus no longer any good 24 hours late.

My package, which I have paid good money for, is ruined by sitting with the postal service for an extra 24 hours. Only once has the postal service given a refund. Typically, they say that they revised the shipping estimate so I am not entitled to a refund. This is contrary to their policy but does not stop them from refusing me a refund.

I ordered a simple $20 something product from the NRAstore.com and a few days later, it never arrived. I contacted the UPS people and they said that it had been delivered. It never was. I contacted them and they gave me the biggest run-around imaginable. They told me that the product had been delivered to my door and as far as they were concerned, it was delivered, period. They told me to go contact the seller. Can you imagine this? First they admitted that they had possession of it, then they basically called me a liar when I said that it was never delivered. Some fool delivered it to the wrong door is what happened.

I'll never do business with these people again. For my $20 item, they lost 50 times that amount of business from me in one year. They can go bankrupt for all I care.

The mail does not make it to intended recipient on time, and on some days it is delivered after 5:00pm. We have complained and now the mail carrier will not even speak to us. There has been no improvement. We are not apprised of how the situation has been handled. Who is minding the US Post Office and why do we have to continually become aggravated over a never ending problem? We have a business and the US mail is a detriment to our business. We do not receive our physical mail and no one is held accountable.

I have contacted the many locations of USPS locations the employees have transferred or referred me to and no one knows what the heck is going on. I even talked to my mailman in person who said they had been delivering my mail everyday so I took the time to actually sit in my window all day waiting for my mail 2 days straight which never came.

My neighbors are not getting their mail either. When I called again, they had the nerve to say that the mailman had been there and I must have missed it. It's been 3 weeks now and my plane tickets have vanished into thin air and for some reason, not one idiot in Birmingham, AL can tell me what happened. Apparently, I lost a package I never received. Why isn't the postage on the original letter made available for a new letter? It may be better to use another organization to have letters delivered. Service is definitely lacking.

The Tabor City post office said I had to be registered with them to receive mail in General Delivery therefore they did a return to sender on mail that was delivered to them with out waiting at least 24hr to see if it would be picked up. In doing so, they defeated the whole system of General Delivery. This is the first and only post office that said a person had to be registered with them to receive General Delivery mail. Nowhere in the USPS is there any info that says you have to be registered with a particular post office to receive General Delivery mail.

I figure since this person pays $5.60 to mail a regular size envelope, it should take the 2-3 days USPS says it will. The first check was mailed on 10/5 and showed up on 10/12. The second was mailed on 10/21 and showed on 10/28. I have gotten regular mail from the same place in 3 days, one time it was 4 days. Yes, business days.

Why can they charge over 5 dollars more for service that is worse than their normal fee. It got me to change my method of getting ** by the postal service. Hence, the phrase, gone postal, makes sense now. I just do not understand how this can be our trusted government or how it can be legal to charge $5.20 more an envelope so it can get there 4 days slower. In April 2010, my family and I moved into an apartment. About a month later, we started to notice that we weren't getting our usual mail, only selected mailings were being sent to us. We did our change of address form again to make sure all of our mail was being received. In August 2010, we find out that the previous tenants have our last name too. We are not related and have never met.

They were so kind as to mail all of the mail that was being sent to them to our landlord who gave it to us. My husband missed many opportunities for promotions with the state because of this. We went again to the post office and brought it to their attention. Yet, September we are still not getting mail and the previous tenants have been sending us our mail. We had our son's birth certificate ordered for school and we never got it making us pay for it again and we still don't have it. We don't know where it went and the old tenants didn't get it either.

This is an issue because my son now has no insurance coverage at the moment because we can't show proof of parents. I have been finding out that the USPS has so contacted all of my banks, schools, insurance, etc to send them my change of address. I have moved a lot and have never had this happen to me before. This is going to affect my credit report.

I called the customer service number in October where they told me they would call me back in 48 hours and they didn't. 10 days later, I call again and the rep, Ashley, states she is sorry but the local branch couldn't resolve it and forward my issue to consumer affairs. Now, I have no one to go to with the issue. Ordering birth certificates aren't cheap and I refuse to pay for another birth certificate if I am not going to receive it. Who can I turn to now to get this issue resolved.

Well, the box got to PA and when the receiver opened the box the items inside was damage and broken including the box was in bad shape when it was delivered.

I contacted UPS customer service and submitted a claim and they informed me that they was going to pick it up well after me calling numerous time they finally picked it up because they say they make 3 attempts with out informing you when they will pick up the box.

I was so amazed of the things I would hear from them and they promise to keep me posted and it never happens. I didn't hear from them. When I called for the 3rd time, they informed me that my claim was denied because I packed it incorrectly. That's why it was damaged. I told them first that item was removed from the box and the box arrived damaged and how do you know, if I packed it or not. When it was delivered, it was already damaged and If it didn't why would you allow it in the store to ship in the first place.

She said, "Well, all I could do is to submit the claim again and you want to fight our decision." Well, I did. I never haven't gotten a call yet. I contact them and customer service is unable to give me any information that is useful. Oh! but I was told that the insurance that you purchase is for lost items not damage. Wow! I was just amazed.

I complained to the better business bureau but they don't answer. So they are horrible. I will be taking them to small civil court. Oh they also called me to pick up the stuff that the receiver never claimed it. I told him what he did but you guys picked it up because it was damaged. He said, "Oh well, call customer service."

Wow you go to UPS thinking your are using a well known company that will treat your stuff with care and the company will be responsible but big mistake. Huge. I placed a call to the post office today and spoke to the mail carrier supervisor regarding misdelivery of mail. This is the fifth time I have called, on top of leaving notes for the mail carrier. I want to say that the supervisor was very rude today. I am complaining because I live in a duplex dwelling (lower/upper units). I occupy the lower unit and have for four months. There has been a tenant in the upper unit for three months. The upper tenant enters their unit by way of the side door, and they also have a separate mailbox located next to the side door.

The problem is that the mail carrier continues to place the upper units mail in my box, therefore, making me responsible for delivering the mail to upper unit, and I am sick of it. I have complained and complained and the supervisor has told me on several occasions that "they would correct the problem". Well, yesterday, 10/26, there is a stack of mail in my box and half of it belonged to the upper unit. The mail is even clearly addressed "upper". Why can't they correct this issue? Mail is supposed to be confidential.

Well, my frustration level hit super high today when during my conversation with the mail carrier supervisor, he indicates, "Oh, the problem is the carrier is not supposed to go to the side or back of the house.” Excuse me? I indicated I have told him time and time before that the box for the upper unit was located at the side door, and his response was always, "Okay, we'll correct the problem.” Now, his excuse is the location of the box. This has to be a lie. I have lived in an upper unit in the past where my only entrance was the side door, and my mailbox was located, at the side door, and the carrier delivered to the side door! Milwaukee has thousands of duplexes with this same layout. So, now I'm hearing the mail carrier just stuffs all and everybody's mail in one mailbox, regardless of how many units and individual entrances there are? I need this matter corrected. Most importantly, someone needs to contact the mail carrier supervisor at the Parklawn location and give him a lecture about speaking to customers with some respect. Thank you.

I walked up to a post office clerk without waiting in line in order to nicely tell the clerk that I wanted to talk with a supervisor. I was pleasant and nice. The clerk told me I needed to wait in the line in order to talk with a supervisor. I replied to the clerk, "I have to wait in line just to talk with a supervisor?" The clerk replied in the affirmative.

I immediately waited in line (although I thought it was ridiculous). After waiting in line, I talked with a supervisor regarding my other post office issue, then I told supervisor about the matter regarding being told to wait in line just to talk with a supervisor. The supervisor told me that I didn't have to wait in line just to talk with a supervisor. I told her that the clerk told me I had to wait in line.

The clerk happened to be standing next to us because that was the clerk's work station. The clerk turned to me and said, "I told you that (to wait in line) because I don't have time for you." I objected to that clerk's statement and I said, "What?! What did you say?! You don't have time for me?!" The clerk replied, "I had customers in line to help." I protested angrily to the clerk, and I replied to the clerk, "I am a customer."

The supervisor was, of course, still standing there and told the clerk to not talk with me anymore. The clerk then said smugly, "Okay", with a prideful-like expression on the clerk's countenance. I then finished all my complaints to the supervisor. When I asked for the name of the Postmaster there, the supervisor would not give me the name of the Postmaster. The supervisor told me I could phone the phone numbers the supervisor gave me (I had to ask the supervisor for a phone number).

The supervisor did not give me the Postmaster's name at that location, even after I asked her for the Postmaster's name. She did say she was going to speak with the clerk about my complaint, but the supervisor seemed to also try to slightly intimidate me (without success) and to try to slightly intimidate me about me not contacting the Postmaster and about not taking my complaint further than the supervisor. The supervisor never told me to not complain further; she just seemed to be slightly trying to intimidate me by telling me, "I was going to talk with the clerk about the situation, but if you want to contact someone else, then you can do that 'instead.'" It was like she was telling me that if I contacted someone else, then she wouldn't talk with the clerk the way I wanted the supervisor to talk with the clerk to be confronted by supervisory person. I was not intimidated, but the supervisor still did not give me the name of the Postmaster, even after I asked the supervisor for the name of the Postmaster there.

This package never received any scan for having left the United States. The USPS 800 number is totally useless. They can do nothing for me, and the same with my local post office. Please, please help! I need my package to be located and delivered. The USPS is so unhelpful. It is flabbergasting. I am totally sick over this.

After running up a sizeable long distance phone bill to the Injector Warehouse and the USPS, I can't get any help with this matter. I had checked with several people to make sure the mailing address was correct and they all confirmed that I had the correct address.

The package was attempted again and a note was left. I called 800 Ask USPS to inquire about it because they facility is open 24/7 and there is always someone to receive a package. I then talked with the customer service dept. of USPS and they said it would be redelivered the next day. Again, now the package is being sent back, "Address not known." I had confirmed this address with the supervisor of that postal location and she said there was no reason why it should not have been delivered because I had the correct address. Next day another car was parked in front of the house next door, blocking the mailbox. We had outgoing mail and the mail was not picked up or delivered. Today I spoke with our mail carrier and she told me she does not deliver the mail if a vehicle is blocking the mailbox.

We do not have control over the public street and it should not be within her control to withhold our mail. Cars can be parked on the street for 72 hours. The curb is not painted or marked in anyway. As of today, every mailbox is blocked with garbage cans and 3 blocked with vehicles that have spider webs and weeds growing under them. Also, we do not have mailboxes you can drive up to. Every mailbox requires the mail carrier to step out of their vehicle. I have lived here for 19 years and have had 2 such "notices" in my mailbox. We do not make a habit of parking on the street and prefer the front of our own house is clear, yet we have no control over a public street.

I ordered items from Eddie Bauer. I always track items purchased online. The package was shipped on 10/5/2010 and was expected to arrive at my residence on 10/09/2010. The arrival date fell on a Saturday. The shipping was standard mail. As I tracked the shipping, the order switched from being delivered by FedEx. USPS was to deliver the package. The mail truck was visible from my window. So, I went down to retrieve my package.

When I reached the mailboxes (which by the way is located in a high traffic area, right off the laundry room), nothing was there. I was able to catch up with the mail carrier outside and inquired about my package. The carrier said she left it on top of the mailboxes on the ledge. I told her nothing was there and asked her to come inside and see for herself. She proceeded to tell me that "they" told her to leave residents' packages out an exposed manner. That did not sit well with me.

When we got to the mailboxes, she said that she placed the package there, and again "they" told her to leave packages there, which is completely out in the open for anyone who wanted to walk off with it. I asked for her name and she wrote it down on a “Delivery Notice/Reminder” receipt. USPS told me that they were not liable for the package, even though the carrier used no sound discretion by leaving my package out in plain view only to be stolen. And it was stolen in a matter of minutes! I was told by USPS that the only option I had was to file a complaint to the postmaster, which I did. I was given a confirmation number and was told that at the end of its investigation, I would be contacted of their findings.

I live in subsidized income and am a disabled person. I take medications daily. I got no satisfaction from USPS and my order from Eddie Bauer was stolen. I just cannot get past the fact that a mail carrier would leave a consumers' package out in such an exposed manner. A package with the company's name and log splashed across it! I feel helpless that USPS was so cold and uncaring about what had happened to me. I feel that there will be no justice for me.

Unfortunately not for the amount of value of the coins contained within as I did not realize at the time how much they were worth $5000 or more. I called the Norwood Park Illinois PO also. I have contacted everyone that I can think of. I got one form letter back from the certified letters (4) that I sent to the big wigs and it told me to call the xxx-xxx-xxxx number, which of course I had told them in my letter that I had already done. I am heartbroken over this loss and disgusted at the response from the USPS. I believe that the box was stolen.

The coins were left to me by my father who passed away on Aug. 21st of this year. I went to New Mexico and mailed back the coins. Three of the four insured priority packages made it. The one with all the silver coins did not. I only insured it for $50. My father's friend told me that the coins were probably worth around $5000. Please help me get my coins back.

I sent a 3 oz. gold piece to a buyer in Pennsylvania and I have the purchase and shipping records to prove it. My mistake is that I didn't put insurance since I have sent lots of gold and other items with no problems. The package was a flat rate envelope that is usually there in three days. The tracking records show that it to went to the delivery bag of the mail person on the third day but was delivered on the 10th day when my buyer signed for it. After he signed for it, which canceled the insurance if i had any, the gold piece then went missing. The fact it disappeared in the mail person's bag for a week before delivery is proof enough to me of a foul play.

I have all the records printed to prove it. I got a hold of consumer affairs for the postal service and they basically don't care. He has sent out an email to ask the places to look for the item in case it fell out! This item was stolen. Where are the mail police? If it was there in three days and no piece, then maybe--but what happened for a week? I just emailed him to post that I will pay a $500 recovery reward for the piece. This is not fair.

Unless I get help, I will pay people to go there and post fliers with a high bounty for the reward that leads to the arrest of this postal employee--unless the piece is not found and the reason for its disappearance, besides insurance, is for damage and not blatant theft. Now, I have more pieces to sell in the future and there is no way to ship them to him. There is a thief who is delivering mails and no one will step up to do anything about it. This is a federal institution, can I call the FBI?

This started back in 2009 when I moved to an apartment with my fiance. I moved from a different city but the apartment we moved into was no more than 1 mile from his previous address. He didn't even move out of his zip code! For about 6 months, he would receive mail at both his new and old addresses and I would receive mail at the apartment, then suddenly there was no more mail for either us. I called the postmaster at our location and she gave us some excuse about our mail got stuck in a change of address loop and was going in circles getting stickers for forwarding but never actually making it out of the vacuum and getting delivered.

After I called the first time, our mail was finally delivered, a big stack of bills/letters/notifications from the last six months. My God, what would we do without the internet. Everything went okay for a while until the mail started showing up at his parents house again and not the apartment. I called again and they told me his correct address was his old one and they have no record of him moving to the new apartment. We had lived in the apartment for about 8 months at this time. By this time, I had checked the "paperless" box for every bank/credit account and bill. Unfortunately, things like car insurance and replacement debit/credit cards still come through the mail. I pay my insurance policy online and then they send me my permanent insurance cards. Luckily, Progressive keeps track of every piece of correspondence going in or coming out. Progressive Insurance tried to send me my insurance cards eight times, I never received a single one.

Finally, sometime after that policy had lapsed and I was starting a new one, the cards came, just in time for them to be expired. I was appalled since I had nothing coming in the mail. I was no longer concerned with mail delivery until we got Netflix. The first 3 DVDs were delivered when Netflix told us they would. The next DVDs we received were delivered a week late and the packaging was torn open.

Needless to say, "someone", i.e. the postal carrier, had been taking my etflix movies home, watching them, then delivering them to me. And now, just this last week, I requested new cards be sent to us since we had opened a new credit card account in light of someone making attempts to steal our identities. A confirmation was sent on 9/23/10 saying the cards would be there in 7 business days. On 10/6/2010, I received an e-mail saying the mail had been "returned to sender", no one was living at this address. When did my postal carrier make the determination whether I live in my apartment or not?

I called the same exact postmaster that I had been dealing with this past year and she said to me she has no record of them ever delivering mail to me, Tiffany, and that my fiance's address was still his old one. Why after a year and four months, is this issue not resolved? The postmaster continued to tell me that apartments were increasingly difficult to deliver because postal carriers don't have time to actually look at what they're putting in the box and also, since they have so many problems at our particular location that I should move to a different apartment building. Is the government going to subsidize me to pay $300 more a month for an apartment so the post office has an "easier" time delivering my mail? I have had it. I hope the post office crashes and burns. I want everyone there to lose their job. They want to be paid for doing nothing; their mistakes are our faults and they have no accountability or responsibility to us, the public.

I own a business outside of the country and there have been several occasions, too many in fact, that the slow mail delivery service in the United States has cost me business. First of all, the average person is not aware that international mail, especially from this country, Senegal, is right across the water from NY. The flight time is about 8 or 9 hours and all international mail bags are put, free of charge to the country of origin, on the first flight going to the destination country.

This is a uniform Geneva Convention protocol and is followed by every country on earth, regardless of size or amount of delivery. If there's mail to go out, once you pay at your local post office, it's shipped to wherever you need it to go, by plane and in our case, it arrives that evening. Basically it's free express service to the US. When it's turned over to US Customs, this is where the system breaks down, and then to the USPS, any thought of 'express' goes out the window.

Years past, before the Patriot Act I will ad, I could ship an item Friday afternoon here in Africa (Senegal) and it would arrive in my favorite customer Patty's mailbox in Red Hook, New York, Monday morning! This was years ago and it was great! New York people got their mail first, and it made obvious sense. Port Authority to Red Hook was only a couple of hours away. Now? Patty has discontinued ordering from me because of theft. Now that the postal employees have carte blanche to look inside packages and 'confiscate' them without notification to the sender or receiver, she stopped received most of the items I shipped her altogether. Finally, it got too expensive for her and me, so we sadly ceased our business relationship.

There was no way for me to guarantee delivery. DHL charged over $100 for the same envelope. 10 times what it cost for the items I was shipping. I have another lady now, lives in Buffalo, NY. She ordered 2 drumbags that were shipped Sept. 7. It's been almost a month and she still hasn't received them. Fortunately, I took a photo of the package at the post office and the date is stamped on the bottom: **.

Otherwise, she would think I never sent them. I have started doing this with my packages now because some of my fellow Americans do not believe that there are thieves at the post office or that they simply don't deliver for whatever reason (too much work?). When I tell them to call their local carrier or call JFK, they don't follow up on their own and continue to blame me because it's easier. Until the American citizens who pay for this service through their taxes and user fees rise up and demand that the USPS employees be made personally accountable for their individual jobs, they will continue to steal out of the mail after seeing products that catch their eye under the Patriot Act rules (and selling them on eBay - I heard of a postmaster in a small state that does this EVERY DAY to supplement his income!), not deliver mail they deem unimportant (or very important if they don't like the recipient), out of the way locations or whatever else these individuals do to make their jobs, easier.

I am happy to have found this website with so many examples of non-delivery and I will now be able to send this link to my loyal customers. My honor and business integrity is on the line every time I put an item into the US mail system and 6 times out of 10, they make me look really bad! I would suggest that they put clandestine cameras in all points of entry (Miami - which has been very good for me I have to say, slow, but at least they deliver. It's JFK in NY that's the problem) and fire the thieves immediately! Secondly, put in place a procedure for confiscated items, where the sender and receiver are notified and given the option to explain what the package is if it's unknown and to pay for its return. That way there's accountability. Right now, when I send herbal products (for skin and hair care), they just take it whenever they run out! It's obvious to me that that is what is going on because it's not every single time, it's about once a month I get a package missing.

Third, tracking numbers on international packages need to actually be recorded somewhere! Right now, they aren't. The big lie of the USPS is that they track packages. They don't but will lie and ask for tracking numbers. If the customer provides them, they say it's not a number recognized in their 'system' - there is no system! Again, most Americans don't do the follow up to find this out on their own and it looks like international shippers are lying. We aren't, they are because it makes their job easier not to track outside mail. Keeping up with US mail is hard enough and importers just have to 'trust' them to deliver the packages that we have paid them to deliver.

Fourth, have a separate site for business customers to report missing packages, showing proof of mailing and what the package looks like (like I have above), country of origin and shipping date, so that someone can actually take a look/see. Particularly for international USPS customers who pay into your 'system' but have zero representation in the USPS to help when there's a problem. This is not a difficult thing to do and will streamline the system to avoid the casual theft and incompetence that's getting worse as the cutbacks in service get more severe.

A package recognition program would be easy and cheap, just like fact recognition programs are. We send a (good) picture of our package with the country of origin and date of shipping. The computer simply scans all incoming packages for the couple of days after shipping from that country and hits a match. They can then see if the package is in the dead letter office, pushed to the side because of whatever reason or if it simply 'disappeared'. Of course, we would have to have honest people who will tell the truth about the disappearances to make this work. The probability of cover ups will be high if only to protect their fellow USPS employees. Maybe make it a volunteer project for seasoned citizens so there's no cost to the USPS at all.

Everything is done by computer so it's not labor intensive or difficult and everybody would be happy. Fifth, publish the results and 'name and shame' the most offensive offices that have the largest number of missing packages. Then this nonsense would stop. I know I'm dreaming. Corruption is not a word that gets used much in the US with regard to federal employees, particularly blue collar, but there's a serious problem at our major airports and customs offices that is simply being ignored.

How can it possibly take at least 5 days for a package from Denver to get to Southern CO? I have had this problem before with the local P.O. If it comes into Alamosa (35 miles away) first, it takes 2 days to get here?

In my community, we have a community mail box. Everyone has their own key to their mail that also includes the outgoing mail in under lock and key. Monday Sept. 20th, I place two envelopes in the outgoing mail. Both were bills being send out. Thursday Sept. 24th, late evening, a lady walking her dog found one of my bills on the ground and brought it to me. I was shocked to say the least. Today, I went to the Englewood Post Office to speak to the supervisor, explained to him also showed him my envelope (with my unpaid bill in it). I also said to him, "Now this bill will be late and credit card companies may raise my interest rate." His reply was, "Well, we can't send it overnight. We can't do anything to help you. How do I know you didn't just drop it yourself? Just send it though registered mail." This is terrible. You want our money to mail things but you won't take responsibility.

I mailed a package of Bluerays on 8/25/10. The buyer stopped payment so I did a mail recall on 8/26/10. The package had tracking on it. The package was stopped in New York and was never delivered. It ended up on the Postmasters desk. I spoke with her; she said she had it and was going to scan it and send it back. It arrived back within the week. The only problem was it had been opened, resealed ( no sticker as damaged), and out of 49 Bluerays, 17 were left. The only ones left were the older ones and all the newer ones were gone. There is no way they fell out on their own! How come only the best ones fall out and the older ones were left? They were picked over.

Then I was told by consumer affairs that if they were lost (as in fell out), they would never look for them. They are too small and everything small is thrown out. They only save or look for large items. I have a list and photo of the Bluerays from the listing. I would just like them back I had no insurance on them because the buyer didn't pay for it plus I didn't think the post office would take them. You can clearly see where they re-taped it. How do I get them back?

My daughter moved from CA to NY and I sent 5 packages to arrive in 2 days I was told to her new apt. She had nothing and everything she needed to get settled was in there including a cup, spoon, blanket, etc. I paid extra and was told that I should buy confirmation to track but that packages would be left without having to have someone there. Packages were to arrive on a Thurs. noting should up and when we checked the tracking online it read attempted and note left. No note was ever left.

The super said they'd put boxes by her door and she left a note saying to leave packages there just like another neighbor has. Next day, same thing, no note, no packages. We called the 800 # to check and we were told leaving packages is up to discretion of carrier. Why did they have me pay extra then if they weren't going to deliver? Again, no note left either. I scheduled re-delivery for that Sat. and my daughter was going to be there all day waiting. She was there the entire day and called during the day and no one would give her info. Needless to say the mail never came.

We got notices in our email that attempted to deliver which was a lie! I made a complaint and was to be called and have yet to get that call. The 800 # would not give me the NY post office number and the girl I spoke with Brenda said she put for re-delivery and to leave packages there. We got no notice in email that day and thought packages might be there when she got home from work. No packages, no notices. I was very mad and found which post office in NY it was and phoned and complained. The lady was very rude and said she'd make sure packages were delivered and took my daughters number if there was a problem.

Still no packages! I finally told my daughter to go get them. She had to borrow blankets from a neighbor and a towel! Tuesday 9/14, one week later, she went to post office in am to pick up. Supervisor went out in the lobby, yelled at customers and walked away with the two clerks because people asked for the supervisor to come and help. Over 20 people in line and two clerks. Some people left and I told my daughter do not leave without your stuff. They told her they couldn't find and asked for her #. She said, "No, go look again." An hour and a half later, her packages were found and she got in cab. She missed half day work (new job), paid a cab and went through hell for a week! I paid $205.35 to have these there in two days and one week later and a trip to hell she got them. I want a refund!

I have been call there every other day asking where my package is. I have call to the main post office in Pearl, MS I have called to Hattiesburg MS, and the Jackson MS post office where our mail would go when it leaves Jasper County. They do not have the package. I called the Leakesville post off. By chance it may have gone there by mistake. They did not get the package.

I have called again to Pearl, MS they still say they have not gotten my second package, and do not have a record of the first package. I was told that the pearl ms post off still had the package, and they never received my packages. I told them that they had to get my first one for sure, because someone put on the box refused delivery and they wrote not here. The post off did not know my son was not there. Only the correctional center did. As of now I still have not received my package back. I keep checking with our post off, but it still has not come back. Even though there was only one person in front of me, I went along with the employee to use it. I sent all packages off in flat rate medium boxes Priority Mail. I always get delivery confirmation when I mail eBay items. Two of the three receipts had "Delivery Confirmation Expected deliver date Saturday August 21." Then it had Label# and the tracking number. The receipt in question had no tracking number. It had the other information such as delivery confirmation paid, expected delivery August 21, etc.

Because I didn't notice the number missing, I didn't write it down on the receipt. All the other packages arrived as promised on that Saturday. I have been to that Post Office three times, before I actually was told anything. They said I accidentally hit that I had the Delivery Confirmation tag, so the machine didn't issue me a number. I would have never had this problem, if I didn't listen to that employee who suggested I use that machine. I have read many accounts online where after bugging the USPS, they were eventually able to track the lost packages. I feel this is the very least they should do for me. I paid for the service but because the package didn't get there, the buyer has filed a claim on me.

I was receiving advertisements and magazines addressed in other names than the ones who lived at my address. I began putting them in the outgoing box in my building. After a few days of doing so, the mail carrier put the magazines and advertisements in a rubber band and circled "current residence" on the addressee portion of the magazines. I again placed it in the outgoing mailbox. After this incident, I noticed I wasn't receiving mail. After over a week, I happened to look into the back of my mailbox and noticed a green plastic cover that said "property of US post office on it". I popped it out of place and left it inside my mailbox. I immediately knew it had to do with the prior incident. I called my local post office the next morning and explained my situation to the person who answered, who happened to be the post carrier's manager.

Within a few hours, she called me back on speaker with my post person and another female employee. I demanded the mail carrier explain why she put the green cover on the back of my mailbox and stopped delivering mail. Her first excuse was that back in April, I left a note asking her to hold my mail because I was going out of town. I told her that was irrelevant because it was already August when this happened and I had received all my mail from then up until a week prior. I then asked her about the magazines and advertisements being put back in my mailbox after I put them in the outgoing mail and I told her it was rude of her to do so. It's my mailbox and if I don't want this being delivered, I have the right to put it in the outgoing mail to which the manager agreed.

She then said she believed that no one lived there which was why it was being put in the outgoing mail, which is ridiculous because if no one lived there, who would have been putting the mail in the outgoing mail? It would have just accumulated in the mailbox. She then said I was rude for doing that. Her manager jumped in and said that she should never speak to a customer like that and they began to argue back and forth. Her manager then said she would take care of the situation from there on. I asked what happened to all my mail that she had refused to deliver for that time frame, she said it has been returned to the sender. This is a huge inconvenience as I had packages being delivered. This is one of the tracking numbers for one of the items which was returned **. I believe she tampered with my mail by refusing to deliver it.

Got no updates. I called USPS customer service and they said the mail man will return and update the status of the mail. They only know to read what I was able to read online.

Next day, 2nd of Sept 2010, I called again 1800-ask-USPS: no updates on the tracking number. Update: Arrival at Unit, September 01, 2010, 10:20 am, CHICAGO, IL 60604. Got the consumer affairs number 612-, but I am unable to locate what happened. They provided me with consumer affairs number in Chicago. Called consumer affairs office and spoke to 3 agents. They are unable to help locate the package. They provided me with the LOOP mail facility number. Called the number (312-xxx-3530/3533/3534). They responded and provided me with verbal information as follows: “We attempted to deliver your item at 11:43 am on September 01, 2010 in CHICAGO, IL 60604 and a notice was left.”

I called again to talk to manager. There is no onsite supervisor as per the agent. I called consumer affairs at Chicago and asked them to call the facility to check the mail. The agent called and the USPS mail room lady explains the mail is suppose to go to USCIS and the company doesn’t come and pickup and they don’t have access to mailing address provided. They have to buzz in and someone will come out and accept the mail. Ok that was good news.

All day passed with no information. Agents got my number but never responded back to me. One of the agents asked to call back tomorrow morning. On the 3rd of September, I called the same USPS LOOP facility. The agent says packet has been delivered. We don’t hold any packets/mails here. Called consumer affairs. Agents start screaming on me over the phone: “We don’t have information. Contact USCIS. We have left the notice and they have to come pick it up.” I asked to connect to her supervisor: no supervisor and no other agents to transfer.

Called USPS LOOP facility in Chicago. I was put on the hold and left no response for an hour. I called consumer affairs. The same agent starts screaming no information, just the LOOP facility number to provide. I called LOOP facility Chicago post office again and asked if they are willing to help me or not or just want me to keep calling just to know if the mail was delivered. So updated with this. Now the information is different: packet has been delivered but no delivery confirmation. Agent asked for a fax number to fax the delivery confirmation label. Nothing so far. I’m still waiting.

My other friends mailed the application the same day in the evening and it was accepted by USCIS next day morning at 10:30 AM (FedEx and UPS). That is what I called service. I called them to see if they can help me move this packet out of USPS and mail to USCIS. But USPS has the most disgusting staff to deal with. USPS needs to conduct training sessions to their illiterate employees and teach them how to talk to customers.

I hope these people monitors the calls. They have the rude people sitting around all over the place who just don’t know what they are doing and provide any help to their customers. I would recommend not using this service at all and don’t even try to talk to any. Most unreliable, irresponsible and careless staff. They don’t know what they are doing. My application was delayed and as per the guarantee, the mail was never delivered before 12pm next day but instead was sitting somewhere else. It would appear that the US Postal office is misrepresenting the service between a priority letter and a regular first class letter. This is more than 10 times the rate of a basic first class letter, with no difference in delivery service. The letter was sent to the bank for deposit. It resulted in late fees for payments linked to the deposit.

I have been trying to start the process of obtaining my passport for two weeks, and I keep getting the run around by the employees. I have complied with everything they told me to do, and today, when I came in ,they flat out told me they were too busy ,and had to get the line down. I asked to speak to the manager, Cathy, who was extremely rude ,and told me I needed to make an appointment for that service.

During a previous unsuccessful trip, I was told by employee Christine, an appointment was not needed, when I specifically asked. I have my trip planned and paid for, but they are making it impossible for me to get my passport, without paying expedited fees. I have been turned down four times in getting my passport application processed at this post office, and I have complied with everything I was told to do.

Due to being stalled so long, I have to find another agency that can process application for me. I'm going to end up paying the $70 expedited fee I was trying to avoid anyway, and pray it comes in time. I no longer have faith in the US postal service. They let me know to my face that the other people waiting in line, was more important than what I needed to do.

I asked him, “Sir, how much did you said.” He replied, “Don't you listen, 98 cent I said.” I smiled and I said, “You look angry.” “Yes, I am,” he replied. I said, “What is the problem with you? This is the second time I am coming to you, you behave the same way.” He said, “Don't come to me again. I am like this.”

My packages were rejected on 8/30/10. I used a flat rate envelope as usual. But the post master said he was not going to take them unless I put my items in another package and paid more money. I had already paid for postage online. I had to drive 8 miles to another post office to mail my packages. I asked the postmaster at the other post office what was wrong with my packages, she said nothing. That she would take the packages for me.

At the Cooleemee Post Office, I feel attacked every time I go there. I feel that it is racism. This small town is mostly white. They do treat others as they want and I'm tired of this behavior. I felt very hurt and helpless, I cried.

This time I have made over 75 calls to the above number to be reimbursed for what they told me on August 5, 2010 was declared a lost money order and a check would be sent to me by August 11, 2010. In the last six months, I have had both cards, which I have sent from the Post Office. The packages were received with no content. In each case, there was money or expensive presents that were never received. The money was for my grandson on his birthday. The package I received today had a sticker on it which said "package received without contents". This was a birthday present from my kids which contained an expensive custom wallet. There used to be good honest people that worked for the Post Office but that apparently has changed. I will never use this service again to send anything of value. I realize packages can be insured against these internal thieves, but that doesn't change the violations. I know it's useless to depend on the Post Office to investigate. We did that the first time with my grandson's money. I hate to think that the economy has made honest men thieves or we are employing thieves at the Post Office. But I don't recall ever having this problem with the Post Office in over 65 years.

On July 16th, I had to go online to change address for my mail service to a new address. The mail was to start being delivered on July 20th, which I stated on forms made and would take up to ten days, so I waited before going to Post Office in Longs sc 29568. They told me that it was the Post Office in Conway SC 29526 that was the problem with the mail. So, I called the Conway SC Post Office. I was told that this route does not have a regular carrier that it is someone different all the time. I knew this after living at the same address for over five years. I called the 800 number that was supplied from the form I received for confirmation on address change.

After speaking with someone at the 800 number, I did start to receive mail piece by piece, and if I didn't receive certain types of mail, I would go to the old address (pay stubs) sure enough, there they would be along with my paid subscription of magazines at the old address. I would start receiving mail again come time again for pay stubs go to the old address and same thing, there they were. I came from the Post Office today, August 27th 2010, in Conway, SC 29526 and asked to speak with the head postmaster. I was told by the clerk that he was on vacation, so the clerk suggested a supervisor and I said okay, I'll try. She proceeded to find out what the problem was which was also a waste of time. She said that she knew the problem and it was that the postal carrier for that area is on vacation which I knew was a crock. Someone else came to the window because the supervisor was having lunch. I told her the problem, then she left and came back stating that she could not find the address change in the computer but she would fix the problem.

So after waiting, a man came to the window with a piece of paper acting like he did not want to wait on me. He identify himself and did not have a name tag on; I took that he was the supervisor on duty at the time. He practically closed the door on my face and said that he would be right back. He came back to the window and brought a piece of paper asking if I were Stacie ** when my paper work stated ** and told the other clerk it was mail transfer for the whole ** Family. He proceeded to tell me that the address I gave him was a postal box (like a rental from the PO) I told him no, it was not a postal box.

My old address was and had been for ten years or more ** and he told me no, it wasn't. He again acted like I was a problem that he had to wait on me. He wouldn't listen to the problem and was in such a rush rubbing his eyes and face like get out of my face and was kind of hurry.

This has been a long going problem and I want the matter resolved. Since I didn't get anywhere with the postal service office on site or by phone to the 800 number, their office gave me for complaints and they put me off on this office. I would appreciate a response to this matter. They wouldn't want their mail out there just floating around somewhere. I work third shift and should have been getting my rest but I had to drive across town to try and get my mail transfer resolved.

A package was sent overnight on Monday, August 23, 2010 at 12:10 pm using USPS shipping from Pasadena, CA to Chicago, IL. It was paid in full to arrive before 12:00 pm (noon) on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 and no signature was required. Myself and my spouse stayed home from work all day to receive the package. It did not arrive before noon, no notice was left in the mailbox, on the door or anywhere in plain sight. The doorbell was not rung, no knock on the door. I checked the tracking number online immediately only to find that the package claimed to have been in transit to my apartment. I waited until 4 pm to check the tracking number online again, after having checked the mail retrieval area of my apartment complex several times to discover no package or notice was left and that the online status claimed that the mail carrier had "attempted to deliver the item at 10:19 am on August 24, 2010 and a notice was left." Clearly no notice was left and no indication that an "attempt" was made (no note, no knock, no ring) when the package was meant to be left at the site without a delivery signature needed.

The website stated that any issues regarding failed attempts be reported immediately to a representative at 1 800 ASK USPS (275 8777). I called on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 to report failed delivery on the item paid to deliver before noon and was told specifically to contact the USPS consumer affairs department at 312 983 8403 between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm to report the specific incident. But first I asked if I could pick up the parcel in person at the carrier location.

I was instructed to call 773 772 4734 between the hours of 8:15 am -6:00 pm for the Wicker Park Post location at 1300 N Ashland Ave to ensure the package was held there and that I may be certain to pick up the package at this location as all packages including PO Boxes, commercial packages, residential packages, overnight, expedited or other packages come to this location only. At the time of speaking with this representative, it was past 5:45 pm. I called the Ashland location at 5:50 pm, no response. I called at 8:20 am again with no response. I resorted to going to the Ashland location in person to inquire about retrieving my package only to find out that the sign on the door says the Ashland location opens at 8:30am, not 8:15am.

To my disadvantage again, I was told by the attendant on duty that no packages are ever sent to the Ashland location with the exception of packages sent to PO boxes only. Additionally, she handed me a photocopied and cut piece of paper indicating the actual location (Wicker Park Courier Annex on 1419 Carroll Street) to pick up any packages addressed to recipients without a PO Box. Moreover, she claimed that she and several postal employees at this site had "repeatedly informed the corporate offices that the 1300 N Ashland location only holds packages for PO Boxes."

So not only has the entire day of August 24 been wasted on waiting for a package that should have arrived at noon, the entire morning of August 25 has been wasted for specifically confirming to 1 800 ASK USPS that the package was sent to a residential address (not a PO Box) which they should know where customers can pick up packages not linked to a PO Box and therefore, being given the wrong location information by corporate offices and then by being redirected a second time to go to the Carroll office. Both locations are in opposite directions of my home and required over 2 hours of travel time. This has significantly disturbed my and my husband's working days and now requires me to physically go to a third location to pick up the package. I reschedule all of my appointments for that day and missed on several client/business meeting translating into hundreds of dollars.

I called the Wicker Park Courier Annex several times after returning home from the Ashland post office with both numbers given to be busy. I continued to call to try to get online with a live representative and finally spoke with a female. I described that a package did not arrive at the stated time and I would like to pick it up in person. After explaining that no notice was left and there is no indication of attempted delivery, I asked her to check if the item was at that location. After 5 minutes of silence on hold, she comes back on the phone to tell me that she indeed does have the package at the Courier Annex and she is holding it in her hand. I confirmed the package tracking number with the one I used online, I asked her name (Miss **), I asked her to hold onto the package and not to send it out as I will be there today, August 25, 2010, as soon as possible to pick it up in person. She told me that would be fine, that she would hold it and reminded me that office closed at 3:30 pm. After 45 minutes of transit, I arrive between 1:00 pm -2:00 pm at the location only to receive a disgruntled attitude and snark from a woman at the counter who had the same voice, demeanor and poor tone as the woman on the phone.

Upon arrival, I had to explain the entire situation again, I gave her the item tracking number I used to check status online. I gave my ID card and proof of residency in Chicago. After 10 minutes of disappearing into the backroom, and with a line of 3 customers behind me, she came back informing me that I should have gotten the notice claiming delivery. Alarmed, I reminded her that no notice was left regardless of the online tracking status note. I asked her where my package was after giving her all the necessary information and she said that it was already sent out! I specifically asked a Miss ** to hold the package and yet it was sent out anyway.

I explained to her that I asked to have it held for my personal retrieval, and now it was going to be delivered to my home again, this time with nobody to retrieve the package because my spouse is at work and can't miss more time off and because I am at the courier location to pick up the item. The woman I spoke to in person dismissed me and told me that I should "try to catch the [mail carrier] if I wanted to get my package", implying that I would have to run after a mail truck in my neighborhood right now or come back to the WP Courier Annex to retrieve the package again and miss another day of work! At that point, I asked for a phone number of her manager (of which she refused to give me only until asking her a fourth time), and finally for her name, which she claimed to be "Miss **". She could have been protecting her real identity.

I left the WPCA, another 45 minutes of travel, came home and called Consumer Affairs for USPS, explained the situation again and was put on three-way calling with the WP Courier Annex to find out that the postal worker I had worked with was named "Martha", a.k.a. Miss Martha **. Martha had claimed that someone else in the office "read it wrong" and insisted that the mail carrier for my neighborhood (Wicker Park) was done with their route and in transit to return to the Annex. This would indicate that redelivery was attempted and that another notice was left on my door, or in the mailbox regarding the package. Again, no notice was left and again no indication of an attempted redelivery. The woman at the Annex claimed that the package would be waiting for me (again) this time and that I could pick it up. I told the Customer Affairs rep this information and that I would not be able to retrieve the package for a second time at the Annex location that day due to more lost work hours.

The USPS Customer Affairs rep called the annex again to request redelivery of the item immediately to my door. I waited on the porch of my apartment for the next 10 minutes, and moments later a mail carrier arrived at my door with the package. I had asked him if he was done with his route and was on his way back to his main warehouse. He said that he was far from finished with his route. This shows again that Miss **/ Martha (African American woman in her 40's, 5'4") was going to insist I return to the site only to tell me that the package wasn't going to be at the location again because it is still with the mail carrier and thereby waste my time and money.

Before filing the first complaint, I spoke with the Cherry Grove section of the North Myrtle Beach, SC USPS. I was informed that they had been sending mail to Florence, SC (next big hub in the system). When I called the 800-ASK-USPS, I was informed they didn't have even one of the ten change of address forms we had turned and entered in the system. About four days later, we received the confirmation letters on the changes of address (four of the ten anyway). We have only received one (1) piece of forwarded mail to date. Then this morning, we received a NetFlix movie addressed to my mother at our previous address. Her name and mine are not the same!

Then I noticed on the forward label that my company name was incorrectly entered into the USPS system. A&T Court Reporting was incorrectly entered as ATT Court Reporting. Then in addition, my better half got a call from his previous employer, who had mailed his paycheck two weeks ago, saying it had been returned to her stamped undeliverable! It had his name, the correct address (no forwarding label required) and it was returned. I have multiple checks due in from attorneys, which I have not received as well. If it was just one small slip-up, I could probably just go on with my life. But this is supposed to be one of the most efficiently run entities in the government (which is saying a lot in this day and time) and so far, nothing has been done correctly on their end.

It arrived at its destination on Friday, July 30, 2010, one day after its guarantee. If they are going to say that, then the guarantee is bogus" and that I should contact consumer affairs. I could completely understand if it was an act of god or mother nature, but it is not my fault that the customs department did not do their job properly. I sent a box with the 4 blankets and 2 purses thru the USPS on post. My WIFE got a piece of the box with the insurance card and inventory sheet. However, this wasn't a box that you could cut open without taking time. It was a military Tuff box, hard plastic box. How does that just break apart, with a lock on it? And my wife gets the paper cardboard. they actually sent just that to her.

So now, I have nothing to give her for our anniversary and the USPS can't find any track of it. Amazing. It got to states. It landed in Atlanta GA. It's gone amazing. How much money do you think the worker will make when he/she sells my stuff I bought my wife? Thank you USPS for serving us who defend America. Risk my life, lose my family time to be over here in Iraq/Kuwait, so you can charge me 60 to send and loose 500$ worth of stuff. I put the insurance at 300 cause. I didn't think I had to worry about my military stuff box being broken apart to get robbed. So thanks again USPS for stealing from the troops you pieces of [garbage]. Lost 500 worth of nice stuff, I cannot buy again. Ruined my wife's and my 5 year anniversary and also have given her and I the run around. Stuff is gone thin air.

I was expected a package on 8/19/2010. However, my husband and I watched the mail carrier pass by. Later, when I got online to track my package, there was a message stating: There was delivery attempt at 12.36p.m., but no answer and notice was left. That is a complete lie. Not only she never approached to knock on door or ring doorbell, there was no notice left either. I had to go to post office and pick up package today, 8/20/2010, at which time the staff there seemed to be "annoyed" that I was requesting my package. First, the employee left the window, came back and insisted it wasn't there. Next a manager was called to the window. He too left, came back and said nothing was there for my address. After much insistence from me, finally the manager left and came back again, only this time he had my package.

Another thing. I called yesterday and was told my package was definitely at this office, and that I should call first, before going there. Well tried several times. All I kept getting was, "leave a message", immediately followed by: "sorry, mail box is full". What in the world kind of place of business, a government operated one at that, has the mail box full so that customers cannot even leave a message? And why is it no one was available anyway? Surely when I arrived there, ONE man was at the window, while us customers in line could hear a lot oh hee-hee, and ha-ha coming from the back. In conclusion, I'm not going to just let this go. I filed a complaint: Complaint #CA102818108, and will be following up on it too. IF I don't get any results soon, I'll continue on until I do. So no. I'm not one of those who's going to simply just go away. Something should be done about the "beyond lousy" service.

I filed complaint #CA102822817 today before the mail came. Later, I checked my mail and the mailman did pick up my outgoing mail and leave incoming mail and even shut the mailbox door but, for the first time, he left the flag up. I had to wonder if his supervisor had already contacted him about my complaint.

This led to further thought about the matter, and I remember what seemingly led to the problems. When our carrier changed to him, we started getting other people's mail regularly. For about a year, I just delivered it to my neighbors - even a box that had to go to someone about 2-3 miles away! (Their name and address were not similar in any way, we had to look them up on Google and they were suspicious and then very thankful.)

After that, I refused to deliver anymore mail for him. I simply put the mail back in the box and put the flag up. Shortly thereafter the problems began with, first, leaving the mailbox door open and, next, actually yanking the mailbox door off the mailbox and leaving it on the ground. (The last time, yesterday, there was a new credit card in my mailbox, inviting all to shop on my dime starting with my mailbox.)

I gave all the additional information earlier and won't repeat it all, but I did feel that this additional insight into why might be helpful. I appreciate anything you can do to address this problem so I can go back to not thinking about my mailman.

On 8-19-10, I received a call from my insurance carrier telling me my homeowners, auto and umbrella policies had been canceled do to non payment. They stated that the last 2 invoices had been returned as undeliverable as addressed. It's damn strange that the invoices were addressed to PO Box 865 which I pay $116 a year to have some of my mail not delivered. What seems to be the problem? I will be in to see you on the first of the week to discuss the late fees on my policies as well as a letter of apology to my insurance carrier because of your employees error. I have a rural box as well so if it were not such a hassle to change my addresses on my accounts and have or maybe not have my mail delivered I would do so.

It all began 4 years ago when I moved to what's called a somewhat rural area of North Carolina. There are literally thousands of homes on the street where I live but it’s not located within "city limits". Our postal delivery person is a subcontractor who drives her own vehicle and basically delivers the mail when she feels like it. I have received a mailbox full of other people’s mail on numerous occasions. A couple of times I recognized the address as being close to me. Since all I received that day was their mail, I went to give it to them and see if possibly they received a mailbox full of my mail. No such luck!

I have days when I don’t receive anything and other days that I receive dated material that the return date has already passed. If the USPS can’t get the job done they should be fined heavily and be forced legally to assume some responsibility for their incompetence. The first step would be for the federal government to not allow (freeze) any and all increases in postal fees that they request until which time they can prove that they can competently accomplish the job we are paying for now.

My complaint is this. My husband operates a sole proprietorship machine shop, which office, we run out of our house. We have had more problems in receiving his payment checks. Sometimes they come, sometimes they don't. Most recently, we had a check sent Aug.7 from Texas to NC. It was stamped "undeliverable at this address" and sent back to our customer in Texas. We had to PAY $31.77 to have our check FedEx-ed to us so we would be sure that we would get it. We have made our local post office aware more than once that we receive mail at our residence for a family and a business. They just cannot seem to get this right!

I mail my house payment every month, same day. Some months the mortgage company gets it, some months they don't. There is no rhyme or reason to this. This is completely and utterly unacceptable! It is these peoples' jobs to deliver and pick up our mail correctly and on a timely basis! If most of America did their jobs like the USPS does theirs, this would be a terrible place to live!

Our post office has no mail carriers. The town population is 1800. People who live inside the city limits have to pay for a PO box $24 a year while residents outside the city limits receive a free PO Box. There are many towns of smaller size that have mail carrier service.

I did not receive a package but the delivery confirmation number said that I had. I called the post office and they had no idea where the package was and basically said, "Oh well, there's nothing we can do". This is an item that I ordered, paid shipping for and expected to received so basically my money was tossed down the drain and the post office doesn't care one bit. This is why they are hurting financially now. Other companies such as UPS and FedEx provide insurance and confirmation with all packages and are also cheaper. I'm done dealing with the post office.
