For the past year or so frequently I do not get all of my mail. Numerous times I get letters from my creditors asking me to pay up. This is when I realized that I never got the bill. Last month I foumd a credit card bill stuck on the outside of my P.O. box. It had been opened and was due two weeks prior. Yesterday I recieved another reminder that I had not payed another bill. After checking I found that I had never got the bill. Several months ago I was sent a check for services render. After three months I never got it so they finally cancelled it and issued another one. This has been on going for sometime. I have gone to the Post office and have spoken to the Postmaster and expressed my concerns. Most people don't believe that you din't pay because of the Post office. After leaving her office I had the impression that they don't even handle mail there. According to her they just get mail there and put it into the boxes, so it could not be the doing of her employees. I have always kept a P.O. box because of identity theft. I have worked to many cases where mail was taken for the mail box.

I am complaining as to the delivery service on my street, in the past month our mail carrier has not even been on our at least 4 times that i am aware of, to deliver mail, it was not because of bad weather and no delivery service, there is no reason for the delivery to not be made that ofter, it is an average of at least 1 day a week we do not get our mail on our street. I have called our local post office on one occassion to complain about it, and nothing was done, in fact not even 2 days later, the carrier again did not show up on our street. I don't know about anyone else on our street, but i for one, don't like it as it can cost me at least a disconnect notice on a utility, it can delay my check which it did once, and I was late with my bills, and had to pay late fees, this was a delivery we should have gotten on a Sat, and I could have cashed my check and paid bills on time instead I did not get it until Late on Monday, and I was 2 days late paying bills. Some people do not have option for direct deposit. I am getting tired of it, and I wish someone would do something about it, so far since Friday this past week the delivery was not made today. the 17th of Feb. No one gets mail on these days on this street. It is like they choose the streets they will deliver on so many one day, so many the next day, and so on. Please take care of this, I do not want to file a complaint with the us postal inspector.

I have had three items of mail disappear that had money and gifts in. Most recently a necklace/ locket that was sent. Last year 50.00 dollars was stolen from me and 20.00 in different cards. This is clearly someone who works for the post office that delivers to my area. What investigations are done in this situation-has anyone else complained?

All my mails are not delivered. He/she is holding my mails because he/she requested to place my name in the mail box by hand writing, but his/her handwriting was terrible that I was not able to read/understand what it was said. I tried to figure and communicate with him/her by leaving message in my mail box to make sure what he/she was trying to say to me. I placed my name in the mail box, but still nothing delivered. I left message why not? Now he/she is saying the box is full. Pick them up at the station. I work long hours so that I am not able to go pick them up. I requested to deliver them to my work location. And then Route 26 left message on my cell said "Call this number 212-645-0327 between 7am and 10 am," but I am not able to take/make any personal calls during business hours. I called them using my lunch break, but the person took my call, just hanged up without saying anything.

We are a small business and depend on USPS for our delivery to many countries around the world. For the past few months many of our deliveries are not making it to their destination. We had a customer in Australia who placed an order on Nov. 17. I have been dealing with the post office for weeks trying to locate the package, and as of now Feb.16 we still have no idea where it is! First they told us it was delivered to Australia waiting for pick up by customs. We told the customer and he went down no package. Then they said it was attempted for delivery no such address. Now they tell us it was sent back awhile ago. We don't have it, he doesn't have it, and we have no clue where it is. I had called USPS weeks ago to investigate. Weeks later after no response, i called again. They told me they don't have recollection of my call. So this is what we are dealing with, and it is very frustrating to run a business like this.

Ever since the day I moved in, my wife and I have harmlessly joked about how awful our carrier is: we would go to get our mail and see envelopes on the ground, we would receive other peoples mail and some times they would receive ours. Fortunately, we know our close neighbors well because we have exchanged our proper mail with each other. However it has gotten worse to the point where it is financially impacting to my family. First I had previously put in nearly 25 or so complaints in every category I could find on the USPS site because she had put the key to one of the lock boxes for big packages in our slot and we knew it was for this 150$ external hard-drive we had ordered from amazon because we checked both USPS and amazon and they both said delivered on that day. We go to put it in the slot and a key is already there and it is open. We looked at the key we had and it said spare! So one of two things happened: she either gave another person the key as well while being careless, as she has often given our mail away before, or she stole it herself. I'm leaning towards the first one. We also turned it in to amazon and because they were so helpful and sent out another one, of which we actually received we let it go for then, still never receiving the original. Well, Saturday, the day before yesterday, my wife went to check the mail while I was at work and LUCKILY noticed NORDEA on an envelope, which she knew was hers because that is the name of her bank in Finland, she is from Finland. And that envelope was on the ground all scuffed up. The reason I am now very angry is because her bank sends her once a month a booklet of her accounts passwords for that month, and so if anyone had gotten a hold of that booklet they would have had nearly every thing they needed to get in to her bank account.

On 2/7/09 my boyfriend sent me a package (Priority Mail) from Austin, TX to be sent directly to my home address in CA. When I received the package in my mailbox on 2/13/09, the tape on the package had cut on one side and the same side of the box was torn.
Two items from inside the box were clearly stolen. One was my Valentine's Day gift. Whoever the USPS employee was that stole the two items from the box left a smaller box inside that HAD my gift (a gold & pearl necklace) in it. There is also one envelope (among at least seven other misc. pieces of mail) that is missing. The envelope that was stolen had money inside of it. So, not only did someone open the package, tear the side of the box to get it open, go through all the misc. pieces of mail to find the ONE that had the money in it, then they stole my necklace.

I mailed my passport with an application and all the other necessary documents for a name change on January 12th 2009, from a US Post Office located at 116 W. Union St. Morganton NC 28655, to the National Passport Processing Center. I sent the package as certified mail; however to this day (2/13/09) the package can not be tracked in the post office's tracking system, nor has the package reached its destination at the passport processing agency.
According to the post office-they have made an effort to locate the package in their tracking system, and I have called the passport agency several times and it has not arrived there either. Therefore the US Post Office has lost my passport book and other identifying information. The package included my personal information-which could lead to identity theft and also my original marriage license, and a personal check. I called the 1 800 # and they put in a complaint and said someone would contact me within 24 hours. 72 hours later-I still hadn't heard anything, so I called the main post office in Morganton. Donna at the main office told me that Cathy from the office from which I mailed the package-admitted she messed-up did not scan the package, and does not know what happened to it. I also spoke to the head post master in Morganton and he said that the site and workers, I mailed from are contracted in and do not have proper postal training. As if that was acceptable. I asked the post master what they were going to do to resolve the issue and he said that since I did not insure the package there was nothing they could do. He said certified meant a guaranteed service, but not insured. In my mind guaranteed would mean they deliver the package I sent out to its destination. He would not pay the fee for me to have my marriage license replaced, and could not do anything about my SS # and other info being out there. The post office asked me to wait 3 weeks to do anything, incase it showed up. I filled out new paper work for a passport on 2/9/2009 and they paid the $25 handling fee, but I am still waiting on it to come in the mail.

Over the last three years, the Graceland Carrier Annex, which is a division of the Post Office, has been distributing Delivery Notice/Reminder/Receipt slips (i.e. PS form 3849) that have my home phone number printed as the contact number for the Annex. I was issued this number in August of 2005, and have worked with numerous people over the course of the last three years that have assured me that they would fix this; however it continues to be a problem. In fact on a recent trip to the Annex, I became aware that my phone number is printed on the PS Form 3849 with a print date of May 2008. My first contact was with the Post Master three years ago, and I was assured that the problem would be corrected. The calls began to come in more consistently and became more of a nuisance to me, and so I again contacted the post office and spoke to Mr. Johnson who was the current supervisor at the Graceland Annex at that time and he assured me that he would take care of it. I proceeded to follow up with Mr. Johnson on a monthly basis when the calls did not taper off. I asked for his supervisor’s name and number, and was directed to Dan Davis. Dan did not return my calls for three weeks and then upon finally getting in contact with me, he assured me that it would be fixed within one month, which would have been in October of 2008. In late November/early December, the call volume continued to be substantial, so I placed a follow-up call to Dan, who said he was still working on it. He explained that the Post Office needed time to determine who was handing out the notices (with my phone number) and that they needed to print new ones with the correct number. In February, I was still receiving a substantial number of calls, so I went to the Graceland Carrier Annex (on Feb. 5th) and asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor needed to be called three times and it took 20 minutes for him to come to the window. While I was waiting for the supervisor to arrive, approximately 10 people came in to pick up their packages. While they were waiting, I asked to see their Delivery Notice and without exception each one of them had a notice with my phone number printed on it as the contact number to the Graceland Carrier Annex. The supervisor who finally did arrive, a Mr. Stovall, was incredibly dismissive, would not look me in the eye, and said they would try to fix it as he walked away. Also, while I was there, I was shown that the notices that they happened to have on hand next to the walk-up window at the Graceland Annex are still the incorrect ones (with my phone number), but the fix for these has been to cross out my number with black marker (although it is still clearly visible). The Delivery Notice/Reminder/Receipt with my phone number is PS Form 3849, with the date of May, 2008 on it. Clearly they are continuing to print new forms with my phone number on them after they were made aware of the situation in June of 2005 and several times after. No one is accountable at this particular post office and no one seems to have the slightest interest in correcting this problem.

So, I finally called USPS customer care because I found out that my STATE I.D. had been returned to the DMV and I'm supposing I need that. The agent asked me to give her the reason for the return provided by the DMV and when I went to try and find it she told me she doesn't have time and I need to call back later. I hung up and called to make a complaint only to have a second agent say they're only allowed 60 seconds for a response and that I couldn't make a complaint.

Since 1975, I've had a rental box at the Post Office, Rosslyn Station in Arlington, VA. I had a near perfect service up until the last person (Pat) to retire from that position. I recall her dismay with the branch management and USPS general service to the public (I could see now with the number of complaints noted on the web, not to mention what is reported in the newspaper from time to time).
Following Pat retirement just before the new Millennium, Loraine was hired to replace her. When regular (i.e., on time and daily) delivery resumed, Loraine was on the job, I discovered a huge pile of three months mail was kept in the back of the Rosslyn station. In that pile I discovered overdue credit card statements among other important and critical mail. Of course, I complaint to the branch manager only to realize how inept she was and no further communication took place. Loraine proved to be efficient and conscientious in her role, which lasted steadily until she was assigned to help out at another station somewhere in Arlington. In the interim, her substitute including staff serving at the counter failed miserably in delivering mail on time. Adding insult to injury, when I have overflow or large packages, they REFUSE to leave it in a holding bin for pickup afterhours. Given that I work the same hours as the post office hours, I could only pick up at night (after 5:30pm) or on the weekend. It was OK on weekends, before they stopped Saturday service. Last Tuesday (Feb 3), I found in my box a yellow notice of oversized package. I asked for the next day delivery of the package in a holding bin so I can pick up at night. As of TODATE (Feb 10), I see no further evidence of the package, which is reasonable to assume is being stored (or destroyed) or placed somewhere in the back collecting dust at Rosslyn Station. This HAPPENED too many times, and when I protest, some smart moron, blabber mouth (one of the counter staff) tells me in his twisted annunciation Get a larger Box? (referring those for business) - I consider stupid of him to suggest for me to pay a higher fee for poor service, not to mention for personal not business mail. I should also mention that over four months back, I sent a complaint to the Post Master for Arlington County, which clearly fell on DEAF EARS AND BLIND EYES. This is a miserable state of affairs. I wish USPS cleans up its act, this frustrates consumers and reflects poorly on each and every Post Master --- The FISH STINKS FROM THE HEAD (Italian Proverb) PS To mention in passing, Box Rentals provide good revenue to the USPS, as well as it takes some of the heave loads of the delivery by street carriers. As a former employee, I can attest to the fact that the Postal Service has no regard for its customers whatsoever. None of the stories I have read on this site suprise me in the least. The management has cut corners so drastically and does not care about giving good service. They only want for the carriers to get the mail out the door, and not to bring anything back. It doesn't matter what happens between. Fortunately, everyone will be going to email and online bill payments, so they will be phased out soon enough.

This was not true because I was home the whole day and there was not a notice on my mailbox.

I called my sister to make sure she had given me all the correct tracking number and she said she even called the Post office where she lives and they told her the letter was in the Northport Post office. I got in line again and this time another Post office assistant helped me. She told me the same thing except she brought a scanner to show me how they use them in front of everybody. I don't know why she had to do that because what I needed was to know where our mail was at. Then she asked me if I wanted to speak to Rusty, the supervisor, because she had other people to help.

I stood there waiting for the supervisor for about ten minutes. Finally, he comes out and asks me if I had received a yellow slip in the mailbox saying it was attempted to be delivered and I told him no. He then takes my tracking number and goes inside, he comes back out and tells me that the person tried to deliver my mail must have pressed the wrong button on the scanner that morning and that it was too early at 9 in the morning for him to be delivering anyway, and finally he said that he must have returned the envelope back to the sender. I was upset because him being the supervisor did not even tell me that the certified envelope was there along with the rest of my mail. When I got home, I told my husband and he went to the Northport Post office that very same day and they gave him all our mail including the certified envelope that was there all the time. It's not right for them to have treated me rude, make me wait long, lie to me, and not give me anything.

I am utterly disgusted with the service of the Central Islip post office. On 1/7/09, I was contacted by my credit card company to inform me of fraudulent use of my card. The person in question ordered items, sent them to my home address, and then stole my mail on 1/8 and 1/9/09. I immediately notified the Central Islip office, which suggested that I open a post office box, forward my mail to it, and put a hold on my mail until the forward order went into effect. I did so on Saturday, 1/10/09.
Though I believed that I had resolved the issue, the carrier, on at least two more occasions, delivered my held? mail to my home address. I complained to the office, which claimed to have resolved the matter. I have not been actively checking my home mailbox, secure in the notion that all my mail is being forwarded to my post office box. On 1/24/09, I AGAIN had four pieces of unforwarded mail in my home mailbox. I have received NO satisfaction from the Central Islip office regarding this matter. This is an extremely sensitive issue in that I have been the victim of credit card fraud and mail theft, yet I cannot count on a simple act from my post office to assist me in dealing with these problems. Instead, I am forced to check and double check the work of supposed professionals who obviously dont care if their customers are stolen from and dont bother to do their jobs. I have contacted supervisors on numerous occasions but this keeps happening. This is the last straw. Today, on 2/7/09, I received two more pieces of unforwarded mail. I cannot deal with this anymore.

I called all of my credit card and loan providers, got the balance I owed and wrote them a letter with my payment advising that I am not receiving any mail at all. I wrote 8 letters. I am having a real issue right now. The post office is messing with my life really bad right now.
First off, about a month or two ago, I find out that one of my checks for performing was sent back to the agency, with a sticker saying no forwarding address. This was after living here for several months, and getting my mail as normal. I contact the post office, and they refer me to a manager, who assures me it will be taken care of. Time goes on, and I seem to be getting my mail normally, when I am expecting my W-2 forms to file my taxes. WRONG! The same issue pops up again. Again I contact the post office, asking to speak to the Postmaster/Postmistress. I am told she is in a meeting. The lady takes my number, assures me that I will get a call back. Wrong again! I contact them back the next day, and she is in meetings. Another phone call later, I ask for the next higher level of person. I am finally given a number, and what do you know: I get a voice mail. I leave a still very calm message, and get no call back. By this time, most who know me, would understand I'm getting a bit upset. I am still calm at this time, when I FINALLY get a call from another manager at the local post office, saying he understands I am having a mail problem, and wants me to contact him back. I am cheerful when I call him back, hoping this issue will be resolved and I can get my mail as I should. He asks me to explain my issue, which I do, even telling him the dates my W-2 forms were sent. He says he will get right on it, and will let me know in just a few hours time, by leaving a voicemail on my cell as I will be at work. Lunchtime comes and sure enough, there is a voicemail saying that the issue was due to an automated system that was forwarding my mail to a Smith family that lived in this house before. I call him back, and ask when my mail, now weeks overdue will be sent back to me. He then informs me that the postal service no longer traces mail. Hello! It was their system that screwed this up to begin with. The Smith family that lived in this house left over a year ago! I am a bit outraged that the postal service no longer traces the mail, much less that they will even return calls for the most part. I again ask for a complaint line, make the call, and guess what? You got it, another voicemail box!

The package was placed inside my fenced-in carport that is located on the side of my dwelling. My black lab chewed the box and contents to shreds all over my yard. This is not the first time this has happened, but other times I caught the package in time to save what was left of it. My front yard that leads to my door is not fenced in and my porch leading to my front door is not fenced in. I have a 'beware of dog' sign posted on my fence and my dog as been continuously confined to my backyard since Feb. 22, 2008 with no absence at all. I spoke to Mr. Joseph Porche at the Marrero USPS and he informed me that the mail carrier was my normal carrier and that he left the package there because he, the carrier, thought that it was the securest place to put it because he didn't see my dog at the time. The sign on my fence is the advertisement that I have a dog back there and it should not be assumed by anyone that the dog is not there. The package should not have been placed inside the fence due to the 'black and neon orange' sign that clearly states a dog is behind the fence. A notice could have been left on my door for me to pick up the package from the post office or the package could have been placed on my front porch/door step. The contents of my order was 4 DVD's from SEARS in the amount of $55.14. Proof of amount and contents can be provided and should be reimbursed due to the carriers carelessness in choosing a secure place to deliver my mail. Luckily the contents of the package can be replaced. If any additional information is needed, please feel free to contact me at 504-913-7156.

After she went home, my mom noticed the receipt showed the package is to be delivered to Pennington, TX 75856. She called me and I have told her that it's the wrong address. Immediately, she called the USPS and asked. USPS told her she needs to bring in the receipt. 20 minutes later, my mom arrived at the USPS in Midway City, CA. So my mom asked the gentleman behind the counter about the receipt (my mom thought this guy is Cathy's son because he looked like her and he was not in uniform. He is **, about 25 years old, curly hair and in a dark blue shirt). He had told my mom that the receipt is correct. The mailing address and return address in NJ were hand printed, not written in script. I tried to understand that there may be some delay because of the holiday, but when I contacted the USPS office in Pacific Palisades it had been more than a month. The Pacific Palisades P.O. is listed on this complaint, but it could have been opened/stolen in the L.A. mailing depot, or on the receiving end in Newark or Middletown, NJ. It wasn't illegible since it was block handprinting; even if it dropped behind a machine, it could be found and returned. I've had the post office return letters to me that were accidentally shredded by a USPS machine. If it was opened, thinking there was cash inside, I'm sure that person was disappointed there was only a check which was stopped payment. My return address was also on the check, so there was no mistaking to whom it could be returned. I have also posted a complaint with the USPS website.

When we lived at our old address in Rockville, my wife was home quietly all day, every day, yet we received countless papers stuck to our door stating that no one was home when attempted package drops had been made. My wife could hear the paper being wedged into the door, so it is clear that she would have heard a knock or doorbell. Any mail that was delivered to the boxes was often shoved in furiously, and packages that said "Do Not Bend"... yes, they were folded and bent at ridiculous angles...
In late December 2009 we moved a mile or so down the road (unfortunately within the realm of the same post office). I printed change of address forms from the USPS website and filled them out, left them in my new mail box as instructed. Day after day they were not picked up. Finally I left a note attached to the mailbox and they were taken. Some time later, no mail was coming in, so I called the post office several times, explaining the story worthlessly to different people who occassionally put me on hold for up to an hour. (While they had me on hold, I called in on a different phone and the line was busy - they have only a single phone line?? Since I was put on lengthy holds so often, I suspect they may just like to block all incoming calls that way.) Eventually, the Change of Address forms were brought back noting they had no signatures. Fair enough - but both the time that had passed and the flaccid responses of the postal crew were infuriating. That night I dropped all the forms, with signatures, into the mailbox. More time has passed, and I've started contacting the post office to find out where this huge bulk of mail is. It is not at my old apartment, and it had not been IN the post office anytime I went to visit and check (though who can believe them after the incompetence they've shown?) Sometimes the story I'd get was that they spoke with the mail carrier and determined the growing bag of my waiting mail was sitting in the carrier's truck. Then other employees, such as "Mr. Montanta", would say, "That's not true, let me get your info and call you back after I look into it." Two days later I called back since I'd received no update - he didn't know who I was, but asked to put me on hold while he looked at his notes. 55 minutes later, another employee picked up the phone and asked who I was waiting for, said she'd get him for me. 10 minutes later Mr. Montana picks up and asks who I am, I explain I'd been waiting over an hour and instead of apologizing he tells me he's had 3 major problems he's had to attend to. This was Friday, Jan 30th. He said, "Ok, call back in tomorrow at 8:30am and we'll figure out what the hell is going on here." 8:30am, I get a busy signal. 9:30am, the attendant says Mr. Montana has not come in yet... I briefly explain I've not received mail for a month and ask if there's anyone who can help - they say to call "the 800 number" and hang up.

I am a stay at home mom of two babies under the age of 2. Today, my regular letter carrier banged on my front door. With a baby in one arm, and another one hanging onto my leg, I answered the door. He handed me a letter and hit it with his finger, pointing to the words, and abruptly said, "Here maam, read this!" I took it and HE closed my storm door in my face. I closed the front door and read the letter. This letter was from my local branch of the US Post Office (Jefferson Park Station 60630-9998). The letter basically stated that residents should keep the sidewalks and steps clear of snow or the letter carrier will not deliver the mail. It said that the mail will be returned to the local post office. I found this peculiar because I thought there was some code that the USPS went by; delivering the mail no matter what the conditions were. I admit that I had not cleared the snow since the last small snowfall a couple days ago, but, there was only about an inch of snow out there. This letter carrier was now delivering mail to houses across the street. He was carefully walking up the snowy stairs of not less than three houses, delivering the mail to their boxes. This man did not bang on anyone else's door to reprimand them for non removal of snow. I became agitated by this and opened my door and asked him to come back across the street. He came over, I said, "You felt the need to scold me for having some snow on my stairs, but you did not do that to anyone else. Why have you singled me out? The people across the street have just as much snow on their stairs as I have. If you're going to bang on my door, you should bang on everyone's door and tell them the same thing." He said, "I am giving them the same notice I gave you. I put it in their mailboxes." I asked why he chose to only bang on my door, and he did not answer that. He just said, "I don't want to get injured! You need to clean your stairs." I told him that I also did not want him to get injured, but, I also did not appreciate the way he served me the notice. He then said, "Have you noticed that I have just been throwing your mail on the porch?" I said, "Yes." He said it's because I'm not going to go up there anymore with snow."

I recently started selling items on EBay as a way to earn some extra cash for my husband being laid off. Every time I go up to the post office to drop off my mail, or to have the mail person pick the item up at my home, I have problems. I use Paypal to print my postage, and the 2 female workers are always calling saying its not enough even though I add an extra pound or so. My husband went up there today to drop off packages that were flat rate, which I paid 4.80 for, it says on there website thats how much it costs, and she tried charging him an extra $5 per package. Then she had the nerve to say she already told him that before, when HELLO? he has never been in there before.
If it says on the website thats how much it cost then why do they charge more? They were extremely rude, butting into his conversation, being smart and well being bitches. I have found myself going 10 miles out of the way to go to a different post office. Do these people not understand that if we were not mailing out packages or anything, that they wouldnt have a job? Why are they always so mean?

My best friend had recently had a baby. In November 2008 I bought her a $30 gift card to Babies R Us. I placed the gift card inside a Hallmark card and placed it in a blue Postal Service pickup bin. Two weeks later she stated she had not received it. I went to my local Babies R Us with my receipt to see if the card had been used. The clerk informed me that ther was only a $2.50 balance left on it and there was nothing they could do. Since the card was mailed using stamps, there was no tracking number for me to prove if it arrived at its destination or was intercepted. I feel like theft occurs so much at the Post Office, there was nothing they could do for me. I didn't physically see anyone steal the gift card, so I feel like I'm just out of luck. My mother in law's neighbor also had gift cards stolen from their birthday cards as well. I do not trust the Post Office and will NEVER mail anything through them again. I pay all of my bills online, and will now mail important items through Fed-Ex, where at least I will have a sense of security. I have never had a single problem with Fed Ex or UPS.

Have not received mail in over a week! I finally called because this was ridiculous, just to find out that the mail carrier states that she could not reach my mailbox because of the snow. Now I live in Michigan, there is always snow, and there is always gonna be snow piled around mailboxes. There was no reason she could not deliver my mail. I could drive up to it with my conversion van. Why could she not drive up to it with a front wheel drive vehicle..!?! I am so sick of the United States Postal Service, I could scream.

I called in the complaint to the 800 number they give you. They took it down, stated that there's no reason I should not have received my mail and someone would get back to me. The mail carriers supervisor called me and stated that the carrier says she could not reach my box. I asked her, "If there was a problem don't you think someone should have let me know!" I have drove up to my box every day without concerns. Then the supervisor stated that she would be doing a ride around with her carrier today, so I would most like receive my mail, as she is chuckling. Last I knew the whole reason that these people are employed by the post office is to deliver mail... If that has changed would someone please let me know so I can make different arrangements.

Laughing while talking to a customer who has a complaint against your post office is the most unprofessional thing that you can do. Let me know that you do not take the issue serious and consider this issue a joke. I am furious! Has caused my husband not to receive his fuel card, which is how we get our paycheck and fuel for the truck. They have now cancelled our card and have issued a new one which I still have not received. Which in turn has caused us to use other ways of obtaining fuel for our Semi, which costs us more money.

Okay, I had to make a choice - whether to send it or not. I am dealing with the Great US POST SERVICE. l thought... it would be "a piece of cake" to deliver the card without this info. Why did l think that... Well... William ** has lived at that Address for 50 years. He is a well known Artist... He illustrated the US POSTAL STAMPS commemorating America's World War 2 achievements... I contacted my normal delivery guy to find out that he was off the day in question. He called his substitute and she revealed that she did not recall the package. I contacted their station manager who said that he would look into it. He search around the post room, but did not find the package. He assured me that Andrew (regular mailman) would ask around. I went and check with every suite in the building to make sure that they had not received the package. I then requested the number of the post master. The post master directed me to Inspector Cury. I filed a complaint with him and also with 1800-ask-usps. Inspector Cury told me that if I did not hear from him before Wednesday (today) to call him. I called twice today without any answer. I left two messages, but never received a call back. I have failed to hear from anyone at the 1800 number. On Monday, I spoke with Tiana (substitute mailman). She informed me that she was not the one that scanned the package, but rather that another carrier on another route was the one that scanned the package. I contacted Danny Smith about this. He told me that the address must have been written incorrectly, which it was not, I have contacted the seller and they had informed me of the shipping address, which is mysteriously my address. So needless to say, since the package was not insured, the USPS has no incentive to do their job.

After standing in line for over a half hour, I was dismissively told by the clerk that she couldn't find it. I asked her what that meant and she shouted at me that it meant she would have to take my number and call me when she found it. Needless to say no one ever called me. I made an attempt the next day to call them, but when I explained the problem to the belligerent young woman who answered the phone, she was so defensive and nasty, telling me we don't re-deliver, that I asked to speak to her manager. The manager was more reasonable, and told me they would re-deliver, but handed the phone back to the offensive person to get my information, who definitely made it clear she was not interested in locating my package. No one ever called me back, and the package now appears to be lost, or more likely, the malicious young woman with the huge chip on her shoulder is making certain I will never get it. I believe it is a federal offense to spitefully withhold mail. These are government employees and should be supervised and held accountable for their disrespect and appalling manners toward customers, and refusal to do their jobs. How long are post office employees going to enjoy the reputation for being the most unpleasant and useless group of civil servants in the country?

There is some work currently being done on my building, so the mail man will not deliver mail to my box. I was told to place my mail on hold and pick it up. I went to the carrier facility and filled out a hold card. I requested my mail be held until Feb. 2nd (less than 30 days). The woman at the receiving area took the accepted the card, looked over it, and said it would be fine. I went to pick up my mail early (before Feb. 2nd) and I was told that I didn't have any mail. I said I knew I should because I was expecting two particular items. I was then told that my mail deliverer returned my mail to the senders (aka threw it in the trash can) because mail could not be held for more than 10 days. I was told I would have to put in a forwarding address, which I did. I have not received any mail at the forwarding address. The only item I received at the new address is a confirmation form the post office with a number to call (1800callusps) to confirm. I called the number and could not get a person - just the automated helpless crap. I wonder where it is...

After my last such request (which I asked be shared with a supervisor), my mail has stopped being delivered (last three days never not had mail delivered three days in a row in past 8 years at this address) and picked up (on one day - so far). I mailed a large box of Christmas presents to my daughter in Danville, AL. Their mail goes through Birmingham, AL. I sent it 2-day mail. It never got to my daughter. I know the gift cards were spent on 12/21/2008 in Hoover, AL which is 12 miles from Birmingham. I believe my package was stolen by an employee at the Birmingham facility. I get no help from 800-ASK-USPS. I think it’s a terrible thing to steal Christmas gifts, especially when you think the "reliable" postal service is who I think did it. My daughter’s Christmas was ruined.

For three years, my wife and I, aged 53, have on occasion, which can be defined as 3 to 4 times a month have parked at the Elkton Post Office to ride our road bikes. The times we are there are almost always on the weekend. Occasionally, during daylight savings time, we will park there after work. When we are there on the weekends, our ride times are between 6:30AM and 9:00AM. When we ride after work, our times are between 5:30PM and 8:00PM. We NEVER park in customer parking places, but on a grassy area adjacent to the customer parking. Being a rural post office, we have NEVER seen more than one customer vehicle parked in the lot. In addition, there have only been 2 or 3 occasions during the three years we have used the lot that anyone has joined us on our ride and then it has been only one additional vehicle.
On 26 December of 2008, I arrived for a two hour ride with a friend and his wife who were visiting the area on vacation. I will add here that my friend is a Captain in the Navy on leave for the holidays and that he and his wife WERE interested in locating to the Elkton area upon retirement. As we arrived to park, the postmaster rushed out of the building and informed me that I was no longer welcome to park in the parking lot for our rides. When I inquired why, she told me that we took up customer spaces and that she could not allow us to leave our cars parked all day in the lot. When I informed her that we have used the lot without incident for three years, her response was, "I am well aware of that." I then explained that 1) we never are parked in the lot for more than two hours , 2) we almost always use the lot after customer hours, 3)we NEVER use customer spaces, but use the grassy area next to the lot. She was unmoved and said that a car had been damaged by a falling limb from the tree in the grassy lot. I responded that since the limb had already fallen, it was unlikely to happen again and that I was willing to accept that risk. She became exasperated, and informed me we were on private property. I informed her that there are no signs restricting parking either by time or for intent. She remained unmoved and we were forced to park elsewhere. I find it to be an abuse of power to deny us the use of a parking space for such an innocuous activity by two adults in a place of public accommodation such as a post office parking lot.

My grandmother called me on 1/14/09 and told me she was sending my birthday money ($50) in the mail with a card as she has done every year for the past 20 years. I received the card today, 1/16/09, and found that the envelope had been opened and re-taped, and there was a handwritten note on the back with "sorry opened by mistake delivered to wrong address". Of course, the $50 was missing. On the front of the card, my zipcode written by my grandmother as part of my address had been scribbled out, someone else re-wrote my zipcode then scribbled it out again, then wrote it a third time on the front of the envelope. Again, my grandmother has been sending my birthday cards to this same address for the past 10 out of 20 years. She knows my correct zipcode and prints legibly. I can see through the scribble enough to see that the correct zipcode was written originally. In addition, the postal barcode at the bottom clearly has the correct zipcode on it. I have no reason to believe that this card was delivered to someone's home, opened, and then handed back to the postman for re-delivery for several reasons: 1) if someone is going to steal money after a card was delivered at the wrong residential address, why would the thief bother to give the card back to the postman to redeliver? It would be easier to just throw away the card as though it never existed. 2) The card is postmarked 1/14/09. It has always taken exactly 2 days for mail to come from my grandmother's address to mine. If the card was truly delivered "accidentally" to the wrong zip code, it is not likely that I would have received it until at least the 17th when the postman was able to redeliver it. This gives me reason to believe that the crime was committed by a U.S. postal worker.

I called the 1800 275-877 number (reference #**). I was told that my change of address request was not entered into the system (yet I received two pieces of junk mail with the change of address, and nothing further). This contradicts the post office's supervisor who printed out my change of address form for me to show me it was in the system. He assured me he would talk to the mail carrier on the route of my old address. He also suggested that I speak with my current carrier to find out if the old carrier is handing off mail to her for me. He also suggested that I send a letter to myself to the old address, with the date on the envelope of when I mailed it.

This seems suspicious as it seems they are putting the onus on me to rectify the situation and that this letter will be expected for them to mail to my new address. Nothing has been done to date as I have not received any mail after two attempts in person at the post office and twice on the phone with above number. When I go to the old address to get the mail, I note that many addresses from that neighborhood are placed in this mail slot (some of which is mine). They do not have an explanation as to where my mail is. I find this frustrating as I have moved within the same zip code and there was no need to ship my mail out to any other zip code.

At 12pm on 9 Jan., I overnight express mailed through the US Postal System four months worth of frozen breast milk that I have been pumping and storing for my daughter since she was born. I talked to the post office to confirm that they do ship breast milk on dry ice and even got a copy of their dry ice shipping guidelines. I was told that the breast milk would be delivered the next day, Saturday 10 Jan. by 3 pm. It's now 14 Jan and it still has not arrived. Saturday night, I called their 1-800 customer service number to check on the status. The tracking number they gave me showed the boxes were processed at the San Diego center on 3:45 pm on Friday and that is the last scan they did on each box. I was also told that there was nothing they could do until 24 after the scheduled deliver.

The next morning, I called and talked to another man on the phone. I explained to him that this was frozen breast milk and that if it thaws then it cannot be re-frozen and will spoil after 1 hour. I was told from the postal employee that the contents of my package were not of his concern and then he hung up on me. He took no action to try and locate my missing boxes. I called back and talked to a woman who finally put an urgent tracker on the missing boxes. I was told someone would contact me by the end of the day and no one did. I called before they closed on Sunday and was told there was nothing they could do until Monday morning. Monday morning, I called the Consumer Affairs number and explained my situation. I was told that someone would contact me. Someone finally called me back saying that she was working my case but no one can seem to locate my missing boxes. She told me she would call me back.

By Monday night, no one has called me back. I called the Consumer Affairs number back Monday night but they close at 5 pm EST. I called the local post office in Florida where the milk was supposed to be delivered and they gave me the number to the processing center in San Diego. I talked to a woman in San Diego who said she could not locate the boxes as well. I asked her what flight the boxes would have gone on and she said the post office does not track that information. I asked to speak with her supervisor and was told she was the supervisor. A few hours later, she called me back and said she had talked directly to the people that handled the express mail at night and they said my package was rejected by the FedEx airplane and was supposed to be shipped on Friday night because it weighed too much.

I explained to her that each box has over 25 lbs of tightly packed frozen breast milk. I was never told that there was a weight limit. And the post office accepted the boxes. She said that the express handlers sent the boxes through commercial carriers on Saturday evening. But she said, once again the postal system does not track and keep a record of the flights that the mail is put on.

It is Wednesday, 14 Jan., and my breast milk has not arrived. I called the Consumer Affairs number again and talked to my caseworker and actually had to tell her the name and number of the woman that I talked to in San Diego since I had more information on the boxes then she did. The woman that is supposedly working my case leaves work at 5 pm EST and the people that handle the express shipment in San Diego do not arrive at work until 3:30 WST.

The Arlington post office is returned mail to the sender because they claim there is no such number unable to foreward Sibley county Planning & Zoning, Sibley County plat book and all our paperwork identifies the road past our home as 391st Lane. Perhaps the problem is caused because the sign, erected by the county public works dept to identify our roadway, reads 391 Ln. I went in to the Arlington postoffice numerous times to complain, but to no avail. I submit the Arligton postoffice had a responsibility to talk to Sibley County Planning & Zoning & Sibley County Public Works as well as check the Sibley County Plat book before they said there was no such number. I have looked over the internet and have been unable to find any laws that govern the delivery of the US mail.
We live about 12 miles outside of Rogue River, Oregon. Because we live in rural area and are off the main roads of mail delivery, our mailbox is situated about 1 1/2 miles from our residence. Our mail box is located in a long row of other mail boxes owned by other people in the area. Due to concern regarding the safety of our mail, we pay annually for a US Postal mail box in the post office downtown and have our routine mail delivered there. However, some of the things that we order over the internet or on the phone cannot always be delivered to a P.O. Box and the company requires a physical address. Generally this is never a problem when the items are delivered by methods other than the US Postal system. UPS, FedEx, etc., deliver directly to our home. The problems arise when the US mail attempts delivery of a package. It seems to me that it cannot be all that hard for the mail carrier to leave a notice of attempt to deliver in our mail box and the next time we go downtown we can go to the post office and pick up the item. However, they do not generally do this. A couple of times they just took it upon themselves to return the package to the sender. They have on occasion placed the package in a plastic bag and hung it on the outside of our mailbox, swinging in the breeze. On other occasions they leave the item in someone elses mail box with a note in our mailbox telling us which mail box our package is in. Because all these items are sent with delivery confirmation, if I go to the US Postal website and track the item, it will show that it was delivered, when in fact, it was left hanging on the mail box or left in some elses mail box and not really delivered to us. What happens if this item is stolen off the mail box or taken by the person in whose mail box it was left? How do we have a leg to stand on? The reason I am writing to you is to see if their actions are justified and legal. Is it normal practice for mail carriers to do this? All our complaints have fallen on deaf ears at the local post office and all they do is shrug their shoulders. Can you advise if there are any laws that govern mail delivery or is it just a question of responsibility and etiquette on the part of the carrier? Thank you for your time.

They are unreasonable when I call and they claim that they are too busy. Irreplaceable pictures were sent and Christmas gifts.

The story later changed to my dog jumped in the car and attacked him. Apparently, he must have been drinking or because this never happened at my residence. Apparently, he just got tired of delivering packages to my residence after 8 years and this was the only excuse he could come up with. The postmaster said he had worked for the postal service for 30 years so she must have believed him. I informed her that working at a place for 30 years doesn't give him the right to make up false statements. It is terrible when someone abuses their position and can make up false statements to get out of work. I don't trust someone like this delivering my mail.

I looked out as the package hit my front door and made a real loud noise. I saw this lady standing about midway my front lawn... It was the mail carrier. I asked myself, "Why did she do that?" She didn't say anything but she certainly didn't look very happy. What happened to professionalism and respect?

In the last 6 weeks, I have experienced receiving other folks' mail, picked mail up from rain and dirt in the road and my mail reaching its destination late... What is happening? I have lived here for 45 yrs and never experienced these problems before. I truly feel that this carrier be counseled on what her duties are and the importance of respect. Thank you.

On 1/3/09- I only received 4 pieces of mail, so obviously that was just Saturday's mail. On 1/5- I called the post of several times and they said the postman forget to deliver it on Saturday, but probably had it with him on Monday and would redeliver. I checked my mailbox and there were 7 items- which was just MOnday's mail, because the postage dates were 1/2 and 1/3, so there was no way that could have been part of the 12/29-1/2 delivery. I called the post office back to tell them I did not receive the held mail and they stated that there was barely any mail for me and it was with the MOnday mail they just delivered- this is a lie. There is no way 4 days of held mail and Monday's mail would just be 7 items and the fact that the postage dates don't make sense- I tend to receive a lot of mail. I told them they were wrong and we argued and they pretty much hung up. I was expecting mail the week of 12/29- specifically, I am missing an item from my employer that was supposed to be delivered by jan 1 to all employees. Everyone I know at work received this except me- explain that. This item is a special benefit card that they will not replace for me. At this point, I believe the postman lost or stole my mail for those 4 days. I was expecting bills, late xmas cards, birthday cards, and even junk mail- and nothing. The USPS excuse is unacceptable that there was just no mail for me that week. I have filed various complaints with the USPS website, but nothing has happened and they are siding with the postman that he delivered it- I completely disagree. Almost everytime I request to hold mail, this offfice has screwed it up and it takes days to redeliver- my neighbors have gone through the same situation when they go on vacation. I do not have time to make up a story like this especially when the USPS is impacting my finances but not delivering critical mail!

I had several different items shipped here (APO address) for my husband for Christmas. His father sent us a check also. We have not received 5 packages, 5 packages! Who has that much stolen from them at the post office? This leads me to believe that it was done here when they arrived. Two were mailed on December 4th and 5th, then one on the 11th, one on the 15th and the last one on the 16th! And the last one just happened to be Express Mail, which even with the APO address should have gotten here in now more than 5 days. I have things still a month out! I have lost hundreds of dollars worth of gifts. I am just sick about this! And unfortunately, since we are overseas, we cannot use another service.

The USPS is unlike any other! They take no responsibility! What kind of company charges for services provided "at your own risk"? We should not have to pay for insurance. That should be included in the price. If there is that much theft going on within the USPS, maybe they should look at some other ways to secure shipments. And one more thing, if my mail was stolen on base, I'm pretty sure most of the people who work in our post office are military, which makes me even more angry. My husband's own people stealing! Well, we are stuck here for three years so I guess I need to insure everything I get shipped here from now on. If anyone really does start to do something about this, I want to know how I can get involved.

Today was another example of harassment by employees of the Post Office towards me and my husband. We had put a piece of mail in the slot marked "return to sender". They had scratched out the return to sender and replaced it in our PO box. I called Angie to let her know and she said "that was strange" and she would take care of it for me. Over Christmas a perishable item was sent to us and arrived on the 13th as indicated on the box. Someone in the office hid the box until the 26th. Angie saw it at that time and wrote the 26th on it. I have the box and it looks to me that the date was written over, although she says not. Of course, the item was spoiled which was the desired effect. I have had mail withheld from me many times and then had a "final notice" placed in my box. When I question why I never receive any previous notices, the clerks tell me that they have done so. I have also had my prescription medicines withheld from me. I had a large package of clothes ordered from a catalog broken into and a few items stolen. I know it was the post office clerks because the items mysteriously appeared in my box several days later with no address to know where they belonged. I ordered a delft birth plate for my granddaughters first birthday. It never arrived. I kept emailing the dutch store. They kept telling me they had sent it and it should be there. After two months, they finally sent another one at their expense. Amazingly notices for BOTH plates were put in my box at the same time and BOTH plates arrived together. I know they had held the first one on purpose. I have spoken to one supervisor, a man, who said he would take care of it and nothing was done. I then spoke to another supervisor, Angie, and she has tried to change things, but she is only one person and she can't be there all the time. It seems impossible to ever speak with the postmaster. Every time I have asked, she has not been available. These things have been happening over a period of a few years and it's difficult for me to remember all of them. However, I would like for this to stop. It is a federal offense for them to tamper with my mail and I think someone needs to make sure they are made aware of that, and I would just like to receive the service for which I am paying without any hassles.

This all started when my carrier decided to start leaving my mail box door open. This wouldn't be a big issue, except for the fact that this was only happening during days of rain. Do to the time period involved, this was no accident. I was first told that my box was to low, which is not the case. The next excuse I got, And I Quote Mrs. Haught; The only deficiency I did find was when you just try to pop it shut, as a carrier might do to try to keep from getting wet, the box only closes 3/4 of the way leaving a 1/4 of a gap to allow rain water to get in thus wetting your mail. I will understand that the carrier will deliberately leave the box open because he does not want to get wet?? thus allowing the mail to get wet, PLEASE!! This quote is from an Email she sent me on 09/08/08. The next derelict of duty came when the carrier was in possession of a certified mail notice and did not attempt to come to my door with the notice. His story was that my dog was barking at him. When I informed Mrs Haught of this, She told me, And I quote; The carrier has informed me that there was a white dog that was barking at him, the carriers do not have to put themselves in harm's way in attempting to deliver mail.(sent 09/23/08) The only thing is, I was in the yard at the time of this incident. I know for a fact that the carrier did not enter my yard and my dog did not bark at him. I sent Mrs Haught an Email informing her of this. I never heard from Mrs. Haught again. There's two problems with this. One, I find Mrs Haughts and my carriers conduct very disrespectful and unprofessional. Two, I live more then twenty (20) miles from the post office. This isn't the first time I've had trouble with Mill Valley Post Office. I waited for three weeks for a book to be delivered from the east coast. Yesterday when it was delivered it had been wrapped again on top of the original packaging. The original packages was torn and destroyed. The book inside was also damaged to where I couldn't give it as a gift. I called the post office and asked for the manager. He said wait one moment. I waited for more than 5 minutes. I knew this as my phone has a timer on it. I hung up and called back. The man answered and I told him it wasn't good to be left hanging on for 5 minutes. He responded “you don't know it was 5 minutes.” I responded “yes I do.” He said he was the manager and was busy. I told him my problem with the way my book had been delivered. He told me to bring it by Saturday and he would take a look at it. But that it didn't have insurance so there was probably nothing they could do.

Today I drove to the post office approx. 10 minutes and I asked the woman if the manager was there. She rudely told me to get in line. So I got in line and waited and then it was my turn. I asked to speak to the manager. She rudely said WHY??? I told her that I had spoken to the manager yesterday and he told me to come by. She went to the back and was gone about 6 minutes. When she came back she said she couldn't find him but this pkg. didn't have insurance so they couldn't do anything about it anyway. Well how did she know this if she hadn't spoken to the manager. UNBELIEVABLE! What a waste of my precious time.

As I said before this isn't the first time I've had trouble at this post office. I went first and rang the bell at the door. It rang. No one answered. I rang it again. I could hear someone come and they disconnected the ringer as when I rang it again there was no sound. Not only that. A while ago I wasn't getting my mail. I kept thinking something was wrong. Finally after 1.5 weeks I went there and asked why I wasn't getting any mail. They told me I had put a hold on my mail. I said “no I didn't.” This office is incredibly RUDE. I will hopefully never go back there again. The management is totally unprofessional. I feel terrible that these people are in charge of my personal mail. And it's incredible that I can't depend on them for good service. I'm beside myself with anger. The book was only 25.00 but I'm more aggravated at the way I was treated.

I called the postmaster where our mail originates with no reply. I have called 1-800-Ask-USPS 2x receiving confirmation numbers and a promise that someone would contact me.- No reply to either. There have been times where the postal worker delivers our mail to other businesses and delivers others' mail to us. I have mail on the floor for other business. Our office is in the lower level of a shopping center. Some of the businesses are closed on weekdays BUT that is no excuse for the post office service we have been getting.

We are a business that receives 75% of our livelihood (in the form of insurance checks) via the mail. We are dependent on the mail to keep our business going. Not only does not receiving the mail impact us but b/c the mail is often delivered to other offices, I can't even trust that the mail is lost. This adds to our work by having to call in and patients asking for money or paperwork. It is also extremely stressful to wait each day to see if mail is delivered.

This is another one about the postal service. I moved from Des Moines, NM, zip 88418 to Raton in November. I arranged to have my mail forwarded through the post office. According to the postal service, Des Moines does not exist either. Even though it has been incorporated since 1919. To mail a letter from Des Moines to Folsom or Capulin, which are both 8 miles away, the mail is supposed to go to Clayton, Tucumcari, Albuquerque and back to Tucumcari, Clayton and then to Capulin or Folsom. A 600 mile round trip to deliver a letter 8 miles away.

On December 1st, my brother-in-law mailed some Christmas and birthday cards and checks from San Antonio to my address in Des Moines. The cards and checks were for my son, grandchildren and me. He mailed them in a priority mail envelope, return receipt requested. The envelope did not reach Des Moines until the 15th and then had to go back to Albuquerque and then to Raton. I did not receive the priority mail envelope until December 30. It took 30 days for that 2 to 3 day priority mail envelope to arrive. The problem in New Mexico is that everything has to go through Albuquerque. Then the postal service in Albuquerque fouls things up a lot of the time.

USPS calls it your loss if they do not deliver it. I think if you pay someone for a service and it is not provided, you should be refunded what you are out.

Okay, compared to many complaints about the USPS I have read, mine seems somewhat minor. A relative sent a Christmas card from N. Carolina on December 20th, which arrived at our home in California December 29th. This is the most recent in a long long long list of mess-ups by the USPS. The most significant is the loss of our irreplaceable wedding photos (and the negatives) that a friend from Northern California took and were never received. It's because of this really bad service that we rarely use the post office any more. We will pay extra for UPS or Fed-X or, whenever possible fax and e-mail. The USPS is a poorly run organization and certainly not worth the money we pay for postage. Just venting....

Unfortunately, I was a first-time victim of stolen gifts this year. Several boxes I sent to different parts of the country arrived missing several items and had things replaced instead of the original hand-made/sentimental gifts I sent.
In one case a basil seedling plant was stolen and replaced with a blue book value on motorcycles and ATVs the gift was actually taped back up with this instead! Luckily my family thought this was fishy and called to ask me about it, otherwise I would never have known. This tipped me off to call and check on everything else and resulted in a very melancholy Christmas day as the amount of stolen items grew. (It was my first Christmas living away from home and it really added to the grief.) It breaks my heart that you cannot trust the postal service. This had to happen here in LA because things were mailed to different locations. At this point it is only my word against theirs, but nothing was worth much retail value just sentimental value, so I declined additional insurance when they asked. When I did so, the postal worker said, Your loss? which I guess she meant! Considering I mailed everything way ahead of time and nothing was of much retail value, I thought this was a safe bet. Since this is a federal fraud, the more instances they find of similar crimes will result in a greater punishment. Any attention you could possibly help me bring to this circumstance would be immensely appreciated, as Im sure I was not the only victim. Its hard to imagine anyone could sleep at night after stealing gifts with only sentimental value, but I guess anything is possible during these hard economic times.

The delivery confirmation number on the package says that shipping information was received on the 10th, processed and left Fort Worth on the 11th. After that no more information is available, the status just says 'Processing'. I called the USPS 1-800 number on the 17th to see what was going on. They took down the information and marked the package as lost. The woman I spoke to told me that she would have someone more apt to handle my question call me back withing 24 business hours. A few hours later a woman from my local post office called me and I redescribed the situation to her. She told me to give it a few more days due to the holidays. There's a lot of packages, sometimes things take a little longer, to quote her. The second package was Christmas gifts sent 2-Day to me by a friend in Kansas City, MO on the 19th of December. She also sent another package to New York the same day. Guess what? The package made it safe and sound to New York and, according to the delivery confirmation info, still hasn't arrived in California. Spoke to my local post office yet again to see what was going on and given NO definitive answers. All I heard was to wait and my 2-day package, should arrive to us late tonight or early tomorrow morning. You should receive it tomorrow. At this point I'm thinking, I'm sorry, 'should'? This is quite possibly the second package in one month to go missing on me. I don't want to hear 'should'. USPS needs to get their act together. What I find the most pathetic is that they have no way of tracking the packages themselves. They provided me the EXACT information that I found online looking up the DC number.

For the past year and a half my mother and I have been having trouble with package deliveries. For some reason, even though someone is home and the front door is open, the mailman does not come to our door to deliver packages. He/she just leaves a pink receipt that says Sorry, we missed you. This happens about 90% of the time we receive packages. We both live at the above address, but I am away from school for most of the year. Thus, my mother lives alone most of the time. She is disabled and cannot drive. This makes it difficult for her to go to the post office and pick up a package. In turn, it takes longer to have the package redelivered, and is frustrating considering it could have already been delivered if the mailman took the time to come to our door.
My mother has complained numerous times to the main post office in Hawaii (Sand Island), but nothing has changed. Once, the person over the phone even told her that mailmen do not deliver packages to doors in our area because of safety concerns! That definitely does not sound like compliance with Section 508! This was even more troubling to hear considering my mom's disability. Sure, we may not live in the nicest neighborhood, but there is a security guard and police station right down the road. I have never personally witnessed anyone hassling the mailman.

In the last two years, I have had checks and first class mail go missing numerous times, had mail ripped apart by being thoughtlessly stuffed into my post office box, and have never been able to receive a single priority mail package. The packages go missing once they arrive to the Truckee Post Office. Every single package sent to my business (at least 8 this year) have been lost by this Post Office without me ever receiving a delivery notification. All packages were tracked by the sender as being delivered to the Truckee Post Office where they disappear into thin air. These are packages with TRACKING NUMBERS! When I contact the shipper of these packages, they show the tracking number on the item as being tracked to the Truckee post office. I never ever receive ANY notification that I have a package by the Truckee post office. I have to contact the shipper when packages dont show up. When I go to the counter to give the postal worker my tracking number, they tell me they cant/wont (REFUSE) to even look for the package because there are hundreds of packages at the post office. I have been told numerous times to just wait until there is second notice on the missing packages. I have never ever received a first notice? on all the missing packages and some have been at the post office for over a month according to the tracking numbers of the shippers records. It is very frustrating. I actually have to have important first class mail (checks and contracts) resent via FED EX to my home at a very high cost I cant afford.
