I do not receive mail delivery on a regular basis. I ordered some gift cards online for Christmas and received an email advising that they were mailed. I waited almost 2 weeks for the cards, then called the post office and spoke to a supervisor who advised that he would make sure all of my mail was delivered. The next day I called and asked about the specific piece of mail and was advised that it was there with a note that it couldn't be delivered due to weather conditions.

I received other mail that day. So, I picked it up. I was awarded another gift certificate and order another one online and received an email advising that it was mailed on 1/7/11. As of today, 1/17/11 I have not received the gift card. I contacted the circle branch post office again last week and was told that they could not take a complaint because all mail was out for delivery. I went online to usps.com and called a general number and was told that she could not take my complaint because I had already spoken to someone at the branch.

I sent a box to myself in Boston from the Quincy, IL post office. It arrived in Boston without any of the contents; they had been lost. The box obviously was sitting in water (pictures available if needed), so that the bottom collapsed, and all the items are missing. They have little retail value, but tons of sentimental value as they are items my recently deceased father left to me. Because sentimental value is not reimbursable, and I had previously thought of the USPS as reliable and professional, I did not insure it.

I consider the loss as the fault of USPS mishandling the package, as the integrity of the box was compromised while in their care. I do not want money, only the items and some form of the USPS acting reliably. I sent the USPS (to many different departments related to consumer affairs) descriptions of the objects in the box and sent off the Parcel Search Request.

According to online research, this is a shot in the dark, and people don't hear back from the USPS for months. Imagine my horror when one of the USPS customer service agents (Michelle **) informed me that items worth less than $10 were discarded, and other items were auctioned off after 90 days. I find this policy horrific and tantamount to stealing from their customers. Needless to say, six months later, I received my form back with the "Articles not found" box checked off. Ironically, the envelope had a stamp that said "missent to Jamaica." I live in Jamaica Plain, MA.

As my box was damaged by USPS' neglect, and my items lost with apparently no attempt to reunite them with their original box, it feels like theft to me, and I do consider it theft. I have received little to no help from their customer service line. It seems designed to avoid responsibility. I would love some form of reply and more than that--action. I just want my items from my father. The USPS entered into a contract when I paid for it that you would deliver with a modicum of care. That was not done. There was minimal effort to recover my items, and absolutely no accountability in any way, shape or form.

Joanne has been kind, apologetic, and sympathetic, but has not worked to get any tangible results--return of stolen/lost items, worked towards finding tangible evidence of what occurred, or promoted USPS accountability in any form.

I had two packages go missing this December that were supposed to be delivered to me by the United States Postal Service. One had a tracking number, one had a billing number. The United States Postal Service claims that both were delivered, but I do not have either. They are providing no help for the one that did not have a tracking number and are claiming they are not liable whatsoever because no insurance was purchased.

Perhaps they were stolen by other people in the building, but tampering with USPS stuff is a federal offense. Should I contact the police to do an investigation on the people that live in the building? The United States Postal Service should have delivered the packages to the correct apartment and did not; I believe this it is carelessness on their part.

I have recently filed a complaint against this company due to all the problems I have encountered with the Postal Service. Envelopes and cash inside those envelopes have been destroyed over the past few months. It's been an ongoing problem and I cannot get the U.S.P.S to return my phone calls or settle my complaint. I sent Christmas cards over the holidays and not a single one was received by recipients. All of them were destroyed and the Postal Service informs me it is because of the electronically sorted mail computer, it destroys an occasional envelope that has imperfections.

I have sent a dozen cards out and not one of them made it to the receiver. Not only am I having problems with my mail being destroyed am I not receiving some mail that was to be sent to me. I am very frustrated with this ongoing issue and I am determined to get to the bottom of this issue. The U.S.P.S has failed to settle this with me or return my calls and I need something to be done about the way they are sorting and destroying individuals like myself who pay to address our mail $0.44 a piece.

I tried repeatedly on the official US Postal Service website to change my address. When I got to the point of being charged $1.00 for the address change, the site repeatedly refused my card and/or the address I provided, regardless of the address I utilized. I finally utilized a different free service which worked quickly and smoothly.

My family sent us Christmas presents that were scheduled to be delivered on 12/24/10 by the US Postal Service. There were instructions not to leave the package on our front door. The package was scanned as delivered on the 24th of December, but we did not receive the package. The post office does not have it at the location in Surprise, AZ and it was not left in a locked parcel locker. I've been in contact with Mario at the Surprise post office, who tried contacting our carrier to see if she remembered what she did with the package. The carrier cannot remember where the package was delivered and didn't seem to care that our Christmas presents never got to us.

The sending party did not insure the package because they believed the package would be left at the post office for us to pick up. If the package was delivered to our door step, the package seemed to have been stolen. But since the carrier cannot say if the package was delivered to the door step or to some parcel locker, I can't confirm that the package was stolen. We are now having a hard time getting the post office to help us locate the package. I have visited the post office in person and I have been calling every couple of days to try to get answers. I have been told by Mario that he will call me back with the next steps to take, but that was about a week ago and I doubt that I will hear back from him since they do not know what happened to the package.

Clerk No. ** happens to be from Puerto Rico, and the Keyport zip code (07735) was changed to Ceiba, Puerto Rico (00735). In this package, I also sent my winter coat and a cloth doll. These 2 items were not included in the package insurance. For unknown reasons, this package was held in the Jacksonville Post Office, it was never sent Puerto Rico or Keyport.

My grandchildren never received their Christmas gifts. We arrived in Keyport on 12/19/2010 and had no winter coat. Lucky us, we avoided a blizzard. We are retired and had no extra dollars to buy extra gifts and/or coats.

Over the past years, my mail has not being delivered to my PO Box **, Darby, PA like a very important mail that contains my social security number. Also, my cable bill was mailed to me to PO Box **, Darby, PA **, but I did not receive it. My cable bill was mailed out on December 21, 2010 . Today, January 8, 2011, Saturday, I still have not received it.

Someone who works at the Darby Post office is tampering with my mail. It is against all federal regulations laws. For example, in the past I had private mail that had my social security number on it that was not put in my PO Box **, Darby, PA **.

I had been putting in lots of complaints about me not receiving my mail at my PO Box **, Darby, PA **. I also have spoken to the supervisor at the Darby, Pennsylvania stations and nothing has been done about this.

I truly believe that someone who is working at the Darby Postal Office is taking my mail. I firmly believe that. I truly believe that the person who works at the Darby Post office is giving my mail to my landlord, Lenny **. Why? Because It makes no sense that my mail is not getting delivered to my PO box and it contains private information. I know that Charles who is the postal clerk is a very good friend of Lenny ** and other postal clerks.

It is so against the law to tamper with my mail. It is a federal offense. My PO Box ** is a private address and I do not want Lenny ** to know about my PO Box. This has been going on a long time and I am fed up and angry.

Therefore, I want the boss of the supervisor who works at Darby, PA to contact me, not the supervisor. I want the boss of the Darby, Pennsylvania station to contact me at ** and send me an email at **.

I needed to do a 2,100 postcard mailing. Before beginning this process, I brought in a postcard to the Kearny post office to ensure that I was purchasing the appropriate postage for each postcard. I bought 2,100 stamps and sent the postcards out so they would be received in a very specific window. Yesterday, 100 of the postcards were returned for insufficient postage. I went into the Kearny post office this morning to see what went wrong and I was treated as if I had made the error (despite being specifically told that I needed 28 cent stamps for the cards initially). I was totally dismissed and told to expect the remaining 2,000 postcards to be returned in the coming days.

At this point, the postcards will not arrive in the designated time frame that they were to have arrived in and I am being hugely inconvenienced not only by having to return to buy additional postage, but also having to spend many hours to re-stamp/resend the postcards. Additionally, I was treated poorly and dismissed by the counter person at the very same post office that had given me erroneous information that resulted in inconveniencing not only my organization but the 2,100 people who needed to receive this postcard in a timely manner.

I moved into a new home at the above address in November 22. The complex has a bank of mailboxes and new home purchasers should receive the key to their box within a week of moving in. I stood in line at the Highlands Ranch Post Office branch every week for the past 6 weeks asking for the key and picking up my mail. The downtown post office branch is supposed to make keys and deliver it to the branch offices. I still don't have the key and I am still waiting in line for 15, 30, and 45 minutes every week asking if it's in yet as well as picking up my mail. Of course, the post office will not provide me with a name or phone number of the person responsible for making and delivering the keys and I'm fed up. I want the mailbox key now.

As far as I know, I haven't missed a payment on a bill that has not been delivered to a new address. If it turns out that I have, I will take this complaint up the ladder. I find it physically hard to be standing in line 15 to 45 minutes each time at the post office before, during, and after Christmas holiday. I broke my pelvis in three places in May and I have pretty much recovered but standing in line for extended periods of time on hard surfaces hurts my back.

My husband and I have visited the post office and called but nothing has been done since then. I call every day because I was told that the person in-charge will send someone to come and change the lock since they couldn't find the key. We are still waiting for over two months, since we moved into the apartment, for the mail box key. Our mails have been missing because the post office at our formal house will not deliver the mails there (the house is empty).

I am one of those tired of the USPS losing first-class mail. When mail disappears, staff are uninterested and imply that the only way to be sure of delivery is to register all my mail. I thought that was payola, that they would only be reliably provide the service just because I pay them extra. I've always associated that with a criminal practice.

I estimate that around 5% of all my first-class mail gets lost by the USPS and I find the USPS staff unconcerned unless it was registered and/or insured.

I have had a problem with 2 bills (Geico auto Insurance and Verizon), which were not making it to their destinations. Unfortunately, the first bill to Geico resulted in a $336.00 fine from the state of NY, for a 21 day lapse in auto insurance coverage.

I have contacted the USPS and have heard of some type of truck fire in a USPS vehicle somewhere in New York City, that resulted in damaged/undeliverable mail. I have asked the USPS for a letter regarding this and they continue to investigate. I require this letter to produce to my insurance company, in an effort to have my auto insurance reinstated without the lapse in coverage, which should intern enable me a refund from the NY State DMV, for the fine I had to pay.

If Consumer Affairs is aware or can assist in getting the USPS to produce evidence of this event, I would be greatly appreciative. Then the date I mailed both of these bills out is 11/6/10. I am told that there may have been some type of USPS vehicle fire around this time, and mail that was mailed between 11/5 and 11/7/10 could be affected.

Clerks were impatient and snippy in their dealings with the public and when we asked questions, they dumped us and claimed we were copping the attitude, from one (1) question about what happened to our package? Holy Cow, we spoke to the postmaster, asked his name and for a business card and he actually refused. He said, "My name is Bob. If you have a complaint, tell consumer affairs about it."

He told me, "What do you expect? You bought cheapest service possible?" I said, "I expect the business I deal with to provide the service we pay for and if the customer has questions that they are politely dealt with." He actually slammed the door in my face. All I did was ask was "do we get a refund since you failed to provide the service we paid for?" Any other business on the planet would try to figure out what happened. You would want that if you were in my shoes, and you just say, "what do I expect" in a rude lousy tone. This was the postmaster for crying out loud. Two weeks after shipment, the person I shipped it to said she had not received it. I contacted my local post office to see if they could help find it. They told me that they couldn't help me because I didn't buy a tracking number. I had thought that the number on my receipt was the tracking number, but now know that was not the case. The person at the Post Office also told me that there was nothing they could do to help find the saddle and the PO had 30 days to deliver the package, and there was nothing he could do to help find it and I had to wait 30 days before the PO would do anything.

After 30 days, I went to the local PO to open a claim. They told me that I could go online or fill out a form. No one at this PO could advise me on what my next steps were or who to contact. I had to muddle through that myself. I ended up calling the USPS Customer Service and opened a claim. The person who took my information said someone would get back to me in 48 hrs.

After that time, I had not heard from the PO so I called them. The Customer Service person told me the resolution on my case was that the PO was going to do nothing to find the package and would not reimburse any money because I didn't buy insurance. I have my PO receipt, my transaction receipt from Paypal to verify the cost and my final value from Ebay. The least the PO can do is look for it! I checked with my dad both days and nothing had been delivered. Today, the 22nd, after giving one extra day for unexpected delays, I tracked the package.

It stated on the USPS website that the package had been delivered on the 21st at 1:17 pm. However, my dad did not receive it, nor was there confirmation of such. When speaking with the supervisor, Reuben, I was told they have no idea where the package was. Only, that it was delivered. When I asked where it was delivered, he has no answer. He can't tell me if it was left on the steps, but their policy is to bring it back to the post office if nobody is home. My brother was there to receive the mail both days, but there was no deliver attempt of the package. Further, they cannot find it at the post office where it was scanned at 11:39 am the morning of the 20th. My dad went to the post office after work, and Reuben stated that he needed to speak with the carrier and that my dad is to go back tomorrow.

This is ridiculous! Absolutely no accountability for the package. I am unemployed and can barely afford to buy any presents. I spent what money I had to bless my dad so he would have something to open since he is usually alone at Christmas. The package was not expensive, but I also made him things. The USPS tracks these items under the following tracking numbers (**), which is said to have attempted delivery on 12/4 and (**) which is said to have been delivered on 12/18.

The first item shows no further information concerning my items after 12/4 and when the office is contacted they can't find the item, I visit the office to speak to a supervisor, the supervisor is unnecessarily rude and avoids me, refuses to give me her full name and says that all i need to know is that she is Mrs. Williams, than reluctantly decides she will take my information and contact me if they find my package. No one ever contacts me, I call consistently and I am told that a claim has been made and that it will be forwarded to consumer affairs, but nothing more will be done.

The second order says, it has been delivered on 12/18 but I check the mail every single day and I have not received any mail. I seriously believe that the postal courier is stealing my packages. I purchased these items as Christmas gifts and they should have been delivered well before 12/25 and at this rate I can expect that I will not receive any of these items before or after 12/25 for that matter.

I purchased these items and in good faith believed they would be delivered to me, the rightful owner, but instead poor business practices and horrible customer service is all that has been delivered. I do not recommend this place! I have filed a complaint with the better Business Bureau and the United States Postal Inspection Service. Called my main post office here and I have spoke to 4 different people. One of them who is the supervisor. She was no help. Talking firm like she is correct. She tells me that there was a substitute carrier that day it was delivered. So, she said they will call me back when they get a hold of her (the sub. carrier) because they need to ask her if she "remembers" where it is/what she did with it.

So, tracking says it was delivered on December 9, 2010. I called on December 10, 2010, December 11 and December 13. I called so many times I can't remember exactly! December 14, 2010, I call back because I never got a return call from my local post office. They put me on hold to ask the sub. carrier lady if she "remembers" what she did with it. They come back on the phone and say, the lady says she put it in your box. I say, no I didn't get anything! They put me on hold again. Come back on and say okay the lady is coming out there to open all the boxes and see if she can find it. Because I live in an apartment so they also have big lockers they use to put large packages in and we get the key to open it. So, I checked my mail later that evening and the next day and still nothing.

I call them back and they say, "Oh, we were going to call you but it's the holidays and it's so busy. "So then, they say the lady didn't find it anywhere in the boxes. Duh! The delivery says it was delivered on the 9th and the sub. carrier lady is finally coming back out to check all the boxes on the 14th! Its long gone by then if they did misdeliver it into someone else' s box! **

Note. It's quite odd that the day I was receiving the package, a substitute carrier was working and it went missing! I find out from our regular postal carrier guy that this substitute lady is not even a permanent worker and there has been a lot of missing mail/complaints when she's working. He also personally feels that this lady does not take her job seriously and says that he told his job that they should hire someone else!

So now, I'm finding out these facts about this sub. carrier lady and starting to think she is stealing my and other peoples mail! It is Christmas time, so it is the perfect time for her to steal! So, I finally call the 1-800 number on December 15. They say they opened a case to investigate and I will receive a call within 2 days.

I get that call from a guy at my local post office on December 18, 2010. I missed his call, so I called him today December 20, 2010. He also talks firmly like he's right and tries to talk over me! I tell him everything I heard about the substitute carrier lady. That even our apartment office has had a few complaints of missing mail!

He says that I'm the only one from my address. Well, I don't care if I'm the only one, that only means that I'm the only one calling about it! So, I tell the guy okay so what can be done? I don't have insurance on it but that's it!? Customers just have to take a loss after trusting the USPS and paying their price to ship something and if they lose it or steal it, we lose!?

He keeps saying what I heard over and over again from my local post office which was, "try asking the sender of the package if they can re-send a replacement. "What!? It is not the senders fault for their negligence! I am so frustrated and sick that I can't do nothing about this! I researched online and there are so many complaints of people in the same situation! It is not fair that the post office can get away with this! We pay them money to do a job and when they mess up they aren't held accountable for their actions! I have tracking that shows my local post office being the last ones to be holding the package, and still they aren't held responsible for the loss of it!

They lost my priority box which I had a tracking number on. All went according to plan, the package went out for delivery on December 11th 2010 and that was the end of it and nothing else; it's just gone. I called the main number which I got a claim number and she told me that someone would call me back but they didn't. I called the anchorage station and they said that they would look into it and call me back and they didn't. I called the station again and he said that he would tell his supervisor and they would call me back and they haven't yet.

So still my package is nowhere to be found or the postal worker just dropped it off without another scan; anyway it's not where it's suppose to be and it's just lost. My gifts for Christmas and daughter's birthday presents are missing; nothing can make up for that.

My valuable shipment has been stolen twice because of the inconsideration of UPS drivers, leaving the package boxes in the front of the door, without a person consenting the package, in a multi-building where I am a resident. Currently, it would be odd to believe that a driver would use his own discretion to leave customer's valuables in an non-secure area repeatedly. The only thing that UPS is telling me, is to wait until the investigation is done and try to follow up the procedure. The customer has to suffer by paying interest rates from credit card companies until a credit is retrieved. It would not be honesty fair for customers to suffer for their mistakes.

I was receiving some items when there was a replacement carrier. Otherwise, the regular carrier was returning all mail with my name on it.

People began complaining that my mail was being returned! I say it was not his place. His supervisor defended him saying that I did not have the right to pick and choose what mail I receive or was delivered. I have read the mail codes. I do have the right. I either receive all items or none! I cannot believe this. What right does the carrier have to return my mail? I read that I have the right to refuse items and even items from a particular person or address.

Legal documents from the court are delayed and I have not yet fully realized the extent of the damage. I feel violated that someone would make this decision without checking with me!

I tried to buy the postage on the flat rate boxes so I could do this and was told I had to fill the boxes and bring them in to the post office for postage to be put on them due to the dates. The advertisement is false! I wasted 1 hour of my time to wait in line to be told this. I have been misinformed by commercials they are using, as well as many of other people. Maybe a stamp could be printed by the postal service that you could pay for when you get the boxes would be helpful and they can date them as they do letters when they come back through the post office.

I ordered documents, as well as an item needed for a court preceding happening tomorrow at 9:00am (need to arrive by 8:30am). The package of necessary evidentiary support for my case was originally supposed to arrive here on Saturday. When I tracked the package, it was still en-route from Broomfield, CO. I could accept this knowing that it would be here 100% today, Monday, December 13, 2010. The only lists for the package was Priority Mail, with a Delivery Confirmation, No signature required. I was able to get my errands done with the DMV, and was going to return home to sort things out for court. The evidentiary support contained in the parcel will give my case the needed information to dismiss my case. When I arrived home, we had a "Sorry we missed you" tag on our door, and the current time was over 30 minutes past when the last pick up was available (4:30 pm) for the day.

I called the office to inform them of the mistake, and what I could do on my end to get the package into my possession asap, notifying them of the importance of the contents of the package. "Sorry sir, the best I can do is put it out for re-delivery for tomorrow, but it won't do you any good.", saying that it wouldn't arrive till after 2:00 pm tomorrow. Without this package, and already being given a 15-day extension for the case to obtain the needed documents. My appeal (after being admitted into the San Diego county Jail) isn't for 3 months.

The post (person) decided to keep the package regardless of the stated facts that it is unnecessary to obtain a signature, and the fact that it could be left at the door. Now, the consequences are I will show up to court tomorrow without the needed documents to dismiss my case, and the judge will rule in favor of the plaintiff (when I was not the individual he is accusing) putting me for the next 3 months in jail until the appeal for my case is heard by the court.

There will be no compensation for being wrongfully accused, no counter suit for me to gain any personal benefit. I'll be losing my job, losing my apartment, losing my pets (cat 2 year old, and dog 9 year old), losing all of my personal possessions because I can't afford a storage unit for 3 months, I'm losing everything! All because a postal worker made a decision on his own accord. Due to the disclaimer on the USPS website, I cannot pursue legal actions against them due to any negligence performed by their employees. I don't know what I can do.

I had a very unfortunate situation happened on Saturday, December 11. Two packages sent from two different companies filled with Christmas gifts for my daughters, one sent priority and both had delivery confirmations that were destroyed by our dogs. Here's the catch! Myself, my husband and 3 teenage daughters were all at home and the two vehicles are in our driveway. Never did the carrier knock or ring our doorbell. We live up on a hill with strong winds, we do not have a porch, just a step and a glowing orange doorbell right at the door. Upon leaving to take our daughter to a Volleyball Clinic, we have seen our packages destroyed and scattered across the yard. Immediately, we took pictures then called the Clear Spring Post Office and I was told to call back on Monday.

Next, we called the companies to report what had happened and to see if there was anything that they could do to assist us. Both companies said it's the fault of the USPS that the carrier should have knocked or take it up with them. So, over the weekend, I did a lot of researching and found myself at the USPS.gov website. They have their DMM posted, Domestic Mail Manual. It was here I read under DMM 500 that Additional Services that 1.2 Carrier Release for Uninsured Parcels states, An uninsured parcel may not be left in an unprotected place, such as a porch or stairway, unless the addressee has filed a written order, or the mailer has endorsed the parcel Carrier Leave If No Response.

The endorsement must appear directly below the return address as specified in 402.2.0 and 402.3.0. Also upon further reading according to the DMM 500, 2.2.3 Parcel Delivery under Rural Delivery Services states, An ordinary parcel too large to fit into a customer's mailbox is not left unless the customer has filed a written order with the postmaster relieving the USPS and carriers of all responsibility in case of loss or deprivation of any such parcel left outside the box.

Well, I knew I had never filed a written order with the Clear Spring Post Office or any Post Office. It's actually PS Form 4232 that grants USPS the right to leave packages. I printed out these specifics of the DMM and this afternoon my husband and I went to the Clear Spring Post Office. Moments upon arriving at the front desk, the Post Master, Lori **** came out and right away was very arrogant, dismissive and talked down to us. She never looked over the items that were sitting on the counter and she stated there is nothing that can be done because insurance wasn't placed on the items. My husband handed her the print out of the highlighted DMM. She wouldn't read them.

She stated that she talked to the carrier and he said he was surrounded by 3 dogs and intimidated, but put the packages out anyways then honked the horn and left. She acknowledged that he never knocked or rang the doorbell. She also said that it's the USPS policy that if dogs are around, they are not to get out of the truck but that he was doing us a favor.

My husband then read Mrs. **** the specifics of the DMM. Her reply to this was that we were in the wrong to have allowed packages to continually be delivered without saying anything until these were destroyed so we were in the wrong all along and it was our responsibility to correct the Post Office even though the DMM states otherwise. Honestly, we didn't know it was wrong for the carrier to leave packages until reading the DMM. My husband included that these were Christmas gifts and she didn't care, said we can take this matter higher and it will take weeks before it gets back to her. She also made clear that it’s his word, the carrier's, against ours. She further stated that she told the carrier to stop all deliveries that don't fit in the mailbox like she was punishing us. I said I'd be happy to pick up my items at the Post Office rather than this ever happening again.

My husband asked for the form and had to even state which form it was so it’s legally logged that packages are not to be left outside the mailbox. It took a lot to keep myself cool. I did raise my voice but I never screamed or became belligerent. It wouldn't have mattered anyway because at no time did she even acknowledge my existence. On the drive home, I called the USPS Consumer Affairs and made a complaint on both the packages and the Post Master. I should receive my call tomorrow. I'm assuming they will stand by their own procedures of the DMM. If they don’t, what is the purpose of them? I completely understand if I had filled out the PS form 4232 prior to today that there would be no recourse and it would have been my fault that our dogs got the packages, or a thief, or the wind, etcetera.

On November 12, I sent two packages from Jersey City, NJ, through the USPS to Los Angeles, CA (my residence). I had placed a hold on my mail on November 4 till November 30 in order for the packages to wait in the post office, not in front of my door step. Realizing I will be coming back to California earlier than November 30, I modified my hold on November 14, making it effective only until November 26 (I moved the expiration of my hold request 4 days earlier).

Upon going to the USPS office in Los Angeles on November 27th to claim both packages, I found that they were returned to sender (New Jersey); thus violating my hold request. It's been 2 weeks and the packages never reached the sender, or the post office in Jersey from which I sent the stuff, and for which it was to be returned.

The post office now claims they have no knowledge where my two packages are, and are being completely uncooperative and lazy in handling my case. Those packages have most of my clothes plus miscellaneous stuff; they contain most of what I own. As a result of my packages being delayed (or lost), I had to change my mother's airline ticket (she was supposed to leave the US on Thursday, Dec. 9) because the packages contain some of her belongings as well and she cannot leave without them. Such a change in the ticket cost me $156.99 and cost my mother's family back in Egypt (her supposed destination on Dec. 9th) much distress as to my dependent brother in Egypt who relies on my mother in many aspects. Moreover, my father, who has multiple health issues, was most affected by my mother's delay in returning, and her further absence will deny him the care and assistance she was supposed to resume upon her return on Dec. 9th.

In addition to the aforementioned, the delay caused by the negligence of the USPS, resulting in my mother staying longer in the US, has incurred on her further living expenses, which she was not prepared for. Being unemployed and ineligible to work in the US to support herself until she gets back (she is on a visitor's visa, so attempting employment would be illegal), it is evident how such delay has caused a dramatic financial burden on us and further expenses, which are even better understood if you take the currency exchange rate into account (1 US Dollar is equal to almost 5.6 Egyptian Pounds). I find it also distressing that she is going to miss spending Christmas with her family as was scheduled. And with the weather getting colder in the US, her further delay will enact further health burdens on her.

I was informed that within the city limits of White Salmon, there is no mail delivery! Everyone is required to purchase a PO Box at the Post Office in order to get their mail! I am 66 years old, disabled and am unable to drive during inclement weather to get my mail. So, after the snow flies sometime in November, the car stays parked and my mail just piles up at the post office all winter long.

I don't get my bills nor am I able to post mail all winter. I don't live out in the country on a rural route but rather in town inside the city limits. Doesn't everyone have the right to mail delivery in this country? We all pay for the service through the constant increases in stamps and other taxes, don't we? In White Salmon, we don't even have the option of "cluster" mail boxes, located somewhere near our homes. What gives? I feel discriminated against because I am elderly and unable to drive.

When I called the local PO to inquire and complain, I was told that it's because no one in White Salmon could agree about the location of neighborhood mailboxes! Sounds like a lame excuse to me! Since when did the town have to agree upon the location of mail boxes? Aren't there USPS rules to cover mailbox placement? I don't care where the mailboxes are placed, as long as I have daily, year round access to my mail, both to receive it and send it out, just like the rest of the U.S.

Repeated complaints to post office to supervisor and to postmaster at this post office regarding carrier leaving our parcels outside of our gate, outside of our mailbox. The carrier refuses to use horn to notify us that he's at the gate. Continues to ignore request to not leave our parcels outside of our yard. I have emailed post office and told PO that it is okay to leave the parcel inside the yard, but still leaves parcels outside. People walking past our yard can easily pick up the parcel and walk away. I am sure this has happened to a couple of items we never received.

We receive medical supplies and computer parts for our business. Now with Christmas coming, we are expecting a couple of electronic items (Nook and Video Recorder) and we are afraid these will be left on the ground outside of our yard. The carrier isn't even doing his job. I know he's supposed to use his horn to get our attention and wait for someone to come and get the item. This carrier doesn't do this. If UPS can do this why can't USPS?

A grumpy old white woman with glasses who works in the post office at 30th avenue and at Broadway in Astoria NY is very mean especially to customers who come in during the final hour. I was yelled at by her because I usually come in close to closing time and for filling up the wrong forms! I have to work 8am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and the post office closes at 5pm.

I tried to avoid her but she seems to be at the post office I end up going to. Whenever I need to go to the post office I have to beg my boss and take an hour off unpaid. Then I have to run to the office with my permanently injured knee to make it to the post office before it closes. I hated her insults and its ok for some people like me to take unpaid time off and not ok for her to work overtime. I did not take out my stress on her but she took it out on me every time I'm there, even when I only have 1 piece of mail to mail out.

On 11/22/10, I went to the local post office to have some mail forwarded to General Delivery from my former P.O. Box since I was moving the next week to Seattle. I filled out the proper form and submitted it into the drop box like the Post Master, Connie, told me to. My partner was a witness to all this and the next incident two days later. On the form it stated that it would be effective immediately. I stated to her that it was important that it be effective immediately as my son's social security check was due in the mail.

She told me that she would not be able to hold it since the envelope had, "service requested" printed it and that it would be returned to the Social Security Dept. and I would have to have the address switched by them once I moved. I told her that I had had it forwarded previously when I had moved there by the Post Master where I lived before on a different island. She said, "Maybe he doesn't go by the rule, I go by the rule. I can't do that."

I submitted the forwarding slip and returned two days later to check on the forwarding status and my son's check. I had told her the first time that it was important that it be held because we are living on a limited income.

On 11/24/10, I returned with my partner. I dealt with the Post Master, Connie again. I gave her my ID and asked her to check on the mail that I had requested to be forwarded to General Delivery. She refused, stating that it would take 10 days for the forwarding to take effect. My partner, David, told her, "It says on the form that the change takes place immediately." Connie replied, "Where? Where does it say that? " David unfolded one of the change of address forms in the office and said, "Right here", and pointed it out for her.

At that time, another postal worker who has worked there longer than her came around the corner because she could hear part of what was going on. She said that the change would be effective on the date that I had put on the form and I told her that I had put in 11/22/10, which was two days prior. At that, she went around the corner to where they put "General Delivery" mail and 15 seconds later came back with my son's social security check along with a certified letter and magazines.

At that moment, the Post Master, Connie, scuttled away in embarrassment, not even with an apology that she was wrong and didn't even know the "rules" that she had so adamantly sworn that she followed, two days before. The worker who helped us apologized thoroughly for the mistake and stated that she would make sure that it would not happen again and even took the blame upon herself. We thanked her genuinely because she truly serves the Postal Service in the true essence of the word "service".

The Post Master, Connie, is an embarrassment not only to herself but to the Eastsound community because she lacks the essential qualifications to communicate effectively to people who need their mail.

All they kept telling me was it was "their policy", so somewhere between me handing the money order/envelope to the front desk lady to be mailed out and the mailbox of the accountant, it was lost. I was actually told it was my fault because I only put a .44 cent stamp on when I should have paid more for a delivery confirmation. They scooped up the pieces and threw them in the new box that they found who knows where. They sent it off to the buyer so it looked like a nice package.

USPS says they are not liable for any damage to the package whether intentional or accident without insurance. When I called to complain the person on the other end was highly upset that I had made a complaint about poor postal service and was very long winded I could not even get a word in. When I first called the post office before calling 1800-ASK-USPS, I asked why my letters were not getting picked up and how come I am not getting any mail.

She stated that they wait until the mail piles up before delivering it. What? My mail is very important and a lot of it is time-sensitive like bills, applications, taxes and checks wrote to debts that I owe. They simply stated one day late will not make a difference. What kind of customer service is that? Something needs to happen to light a fire under their rear ends. I’m two-three days late on my CNA application due to mail not being picked up. My mom and dad’s mail was never received by the city or county for property taxes; therefore, late fees just over all are not worth the price of the stamp for the service you get.

I sent two packages via priority mail with signature confirmation receipt on 11/16/10 to the same destination in New York City, NY. One package was delivered on 11/18/10 while the other has not yet been delivered and every time I go online to track it, it gives the exact same message stating that it was received on 11/18/10 in a sorting facility in Bethpage, NY and that no more information is available.

When I spoke with a supervisor on 11/20/10 and requested that he contact the sorting facility in Bethpage, NY to find out where my package is, he replied that he could not do that and hung up the phone on me. This is terrible customer service. Prior to speaking with the supervisor, I had spoken with numerous customer service agents who all repeated the same information to me that was present online. Nobody gave me any other alternative or suggestions regarding how to locate my package.

You can rest assured that after this experience, I will never ship USPS again and will spread the word to friends and family not to do so either unless they want their items lost and want to deal with very poor customer service. Why ship an item via priority mail with signature confirmation receipt and insurance to then have it lost and not be able to receive any assistance in locating it? I was told initially that it would take 2-3 business days for the package to be received and then afterwards was told by customer service agents and a supervisor that I have to allow 5 business days to transpire before I can file a report on a missing package.

This is not a good customer experience and does not promote trust in your services or in your professionalism. The tracking number of the missing package is **. The other package that was delivered on 11/18/10 had tracking number **. They both went to different sorting facilities even though they were sent from the exact same post office in Fogelsville, PA. Why the online status of the missing package has not been updated since 11/18/10 is a mystery and should not occur when a customer spends extra money to send a package via priority mail with signature confirmation receipt and insurance. A customer is entitled to know where their package is located when they are spending extra money on its shipment.

Each time I speak with a supervisor, I am told that priority mail is not a guaranteed service and that I should have sent my package express mail if I wanted it tracked! I called the sorting facility in Bethpage, New York at **, and was not able to speak with a supervisor, instead I was given the telephone number for Consumer Affairs ** and was told by the person who answered that I would have to wait 21 days to file a claim.

I told them I was given a case number and they said that's for the local office. Then I explained well that the local office didn't help.

Finally, I called the local office and the lady told me to file a claim since they assumed my package was stolen or lost. I had a priority packet mail sent to me from GA. I track it from there all the way to Kansas City on the USPS website. It said it was out for delivery on Nov. 15, 2010. Well, it did not come that day to my house. So, I did not get upset. I thought maybe the post man ran out of time getting to me that day. Well, I paid it. I did not get any mail that day. When I check the site again the next day, it’s now Nov. 16, 2010, it was confirmed that it had been delivered on Nov. 15, 2010 at 1:15 pm. It was posted for another whole zip code. I live in 66102. It was confirmed that it was delivered in 66101.

I’m freaking out that someone got my packet. I called the post office. I talked with a guy named John. I told him his mail person had dropped my packet off at the wrong address. John told me not to worry, he would look into it. I was told by John that he would call me the next day. Well, he hung up in my face without getting my number. I called the post office back so I could leave my number. Well, no one answered so I called the next day. This is now Nov. 17, 2010 talk with John. Again, he told me he needed my confirmation number so he could check it online. I said okay. He said, “Yup, I see it was delivered.”

I told yes, at the wrong house. I told John again my zip is 66102, not 66101. He said, “Okay, let me look into it more. Call me back in an hour.” I called him back. John told me his mail person that delivers in the area did not drop any packet. John said, “Don’t worry. I will talk with the delivery people when everyone get in. Call back later.” I said okay once again. I called back. Someone else answered the phone. I asked for John. I was told, “He is not here. What can I help you with?” I explained all over again to this person. He asked for my confirmation number. I told him, “Let me call you back. I have to find my paper.” He said okay.

I called back in 5 minutes. I talked with this guy. It sounds just like the guy named John I talk with the last few days gave him the information. He told me I have problems with my computer. He said, “Let me call you back.” I said, “This is getting crazy. Let me have the number to your head post office or post master.” He gave me the number and told me, “I’m sorry. Call back tomorrow and ask for john. He will be able to help you.” I just said okay.

Well, I called that number he gave me that he said was the headquarters office. Well, guess what? It was another line of the same person I just got off the phone with. I said, “Hello. I thought you said this was the main office.” He said, “Miss, just call back the next day.” This would be Nov. 18, 2010. Well, I called bright and early. I said, “Hello, can I speak to John?” The guy on the phone was the same person I had been talking with the last few days. I asked about the packet and what was going on. He said, “There is nothing I can do for you. No one here remembers delivering a packet.” I said, “What do I do now to get my packet?” He said, “Come down and make a claim.”

I went down there about 4:30 to make a claim. I spoke with this game named Pat, what you know the same voice. I told him what was going on. He said, “We don’t do claims here. Go online.” Pat explained to me this happens all the time. I said, “What about my packet? I don’t know what to do.” Pat said, “As very clearly, your cell phones are lost. Just get the company to send you more.” I never told Pat that there were cell phones in my packet. The post stole my packet. I’m very hurt that someone would do this.

I am sending mail 25 blocks away in the same town and in the same zip code. Both money orders are still uncashed/unclaimed, so it's obvious the mail was not stolen. I sent mail from my apartment complex outbox the first time, my landlord even saw it in there but did not take it out due to laws. It never arrived.

The second time, being that the outgoing mail from my apartment was never delivered, I used one of the blue mailboxes. The mailbox is only 10 blocks from my home, so I assume it is on the same route or goes to the same sorting facility as that of my apartment outgoing mailbox. The money order in the second instance was also undelivered and the money order remains uncashed/unclaimed. I called the post office the first time, thinking it only a fluke, and was given no advice or help whatsoever. I was told, "There's nothing we can do for you if there's no way to track it". Well, being regular old mail, there's no tracking number. The second time I talked to a worker and pleaded my case and explained that one instance was understandable but two instances was not, he agreed and took my name and number and said he would talk to to the carrier but, again, there was really nothing beyond that he could do if the mail did not include a way to track it.

The mailing item is a large check which will be used to pay taxes and USPS told me certified mail is the safest way to send it. I have the tracking number 7010 1870 0000 3311 1494.

I have called the USPS many times and they tell me there is no information and someone will call me two business days. This is ongoing message and their website states check every day for status. There is no status and they will not tell me if they lost the package. USPS told me I would have to contact Consumer Affairs and then if this does not get resolved write a letter to Washington.

Of course, I was speaking to a supervisor and they were laughing. This is not a laughing matter to me and I feel there is nothing I can do. Taxes are due for a home and I did not receive the mailed certified package check to pay them. Insurance company will no longer carry the home and the agent can only find another insurance company that has a higher cost for the same coverage.

Today is 11/15, it has been three weeks and the receiver says that they still didn't get the mail.

This mail was for some official process and it is held due to this passport issue. I had sent a camera on February to Turkey as well from same office, it has been 7 months, but receiver in Turkey still did not get.

When I talked to post office numerous times, they even couldn't find the form about the package that I sent. Taking to account, someone stole my camera in the way and USPS didn't take the responsibility. I am worried about that same thing happened to my passport and visa information. Camera can be bought again, however, if someone gets my passport and visa information due to USPS, there is no way back, thus, I will definitely go to court and sue USPS.

I am very sorry about choosing USPS. I tried to talk to officers but there was no response, they even couldn't find my form about my mail, it is like I've never gone to USPS and sent anything, nothing happened. Could you help me about this matter. What can I possibly do with this problem? USPS doesn't take complaints seriously and does not take the responsibility, could you suggest me some other way around?

It's been now almost a month and three weeks since she sent it and the mail service in Argentina and customs tell me it didn't arrive here and that my friend should make a claim to USPS.

She went to her local USPS office at Thayer St. in Providence but they told her that because it was a first class mail. They couldn't take her claim. I tried to mail them a complain through their customers service website but it doesn't work. It seems they lost my package and I don't know what else to do to contact them for a solution. I did a change of address through USPS on October 4th and got a confirmation number in the mail and my email. Few of my mails were being forwarded to my new address and suddenly, none of the mails started to come. I threw the confirmation mail away but luckily, I saved my confirmation email. The post office lady told me that she needed the confirmation number, or any mails that I received with the yellow-tape for forwarding purposes to prove that I requested the change of address. She probably thought that I was lying or something because it was not showing up on their system, until I showed her my email with the confirmation number. She said that it is weird. I thought that it was taking time for them to forward the mails to my new address, but then I started to question when my pay stubs and law firm mails stopped coming.

I am going through a post-lawsuit with a collection agency right now. I called the agency and they told me that they were going to send me a billing statement for the money that I owe. It is November 9th, I have already stopped receiving any mails for some time along with my pay stubs, so I called the collections. They have already processed the garnishment because I didn't and couldn't respond to their billing statement on time, and on top of the amount that I owe, they added about $100 for filing garnishment with my company. I went to the post office to find out what was going on and it turns out that they couldn't find any record of my name requesting a change of address.

So then, how can I have a confirmation number and a $1 charged on the bank statement? They have not recovered all of my mails yet, including my pay stubs, law firm/collection papers, and a gift card I was supposed to get from my job. I got additional estimated $100 added to the debt I owe and my wage was garnished without my knowledge because I was not receiving any mails, and pay stubs/a gift card I was supposed to receive from my employer.

I went outside when I saw him coming and apologized. However, he felt the need to exit his car and tell me that he will not deliver the mail next time whether I'm out there to grab it or not. He tossed our mail at me and when I tried to speak to him he cut me off with "I don't care". This is not the first confrontation I have had with him. The other times it has been about my 5-year old son waiting (about 10 ft back from the road) to grab the mail after he puts in the box or about the height of our box or how the snow hasn't been "scraped away enough." Up until today, I have brushed him off as an unkind person unhappy in his job. He has always been on the rude side but everyone has just ignored it.

Today was different, him exiting the vehicle without need to alarm me. This along with him practically shouting at me was crossing a line. I have no problem with him not delivering our mail if our box is blocked but if I am out there to meet him then what is the problem? I tried to convey this and apologize for today but he was in my face. Who do I make a complaint to and what if anything can be done? These have a guaranteed delivery of next day by noon as long as the shipper gets the package to the post office by the proper time, which according to the receipt they get and the USPS website they always do. That being said, the USPS only comes through 1/4 of the time. Typically, they are at least one day late, which is very bad because I need these packages on the day that they are supposed to arrive and the contents are perishable and thus no longer any good 24 hours late.

My package, which I have paid good money for, is ruined by sitting with the postal service for an extra 24 hours. Only once has the postal service given a refund. Typically, they say that they revised the shipping estimate so I am not entitled to a refund. This is contrary to their policy but does not stop them from refusing me a refund.

Since I work days, I never see this person. I am also a Netflix customer and they will sit for days before they are picked up. I now deposit them in the community box located in front of my nearest post office. And now I am getting threats from my bank. They are going to start charging me a monthly fee of $10 because my bank statement came back to them as undeliverable. I moved here in June 2010, so this is not a "new move situation".

The postal carrier on this route is lazy and now it's going to cost me because I can't get my mail. Should I send the bill to you? I don't want to pay it, it isn't my fault. I did what I was supposed to do back in June by contacting my bank and informing them of the new address. I need resolution to this.

I mailed a box priority mail with a delivery confirmation receipt. I did not insure the package since it was paperwork and they don't insure paperwork. I mailed the package from the Post Office on Vernon St., Roseville, CA 95678 going to ** on Oct. 4. It was processed through the West Sac PO on 10/04 and must have been routed through the Bermuda Triangle because it is nowhere to be found. I filed a complaint and the first woman I spoke with told me she didn't know who to talk to and since it wasn't insured, there really isn't anything she can do. I told her that was unacceptable. I then went to the Sierra Gardens Dr. office and spoke with Raj. He at least made an attempt to help me. He called the Mt. Shadows PO in Orem, UT, but they don't have it.

I placed a call to the post office today and spoke to the mail carrier supervisor regarding misdelivery of mail. This is the fifth time I have called, on top of leaving notes for the mail carrier. I want to say that the supervisor was very rude today. I am complaining because I live in a duplex dwelling (lower/upper units). I occupy the lower unit and have for four months. There has been a tenant in the upper unit for three months. The upper tenant enters their unit by way of the side door, and they also have a separate mailbox located next to the side door.

The problem is that the mail carrier continues to place the upper units mail in my box, therefore, making me responsible for delivering the mail to upper unit, and I am sick of it. I have complained and complained and the supervisor has told me on several occasions that "they would correct the problem". Well, yesterday, 10/26, there is a stack of mail in my box and half of it belonged to the upper unit. The mail is even clearly addressed "upper". Why can't they correct this issue? Mail is supposed to be confidential.

Well, my frustration level hit super high today when during my conversation with the mail carrier supervisor, he indicates, "Oh, the problem is the carrier is not supposed to go to the side or back of the house.” Excuse me? I indicated I have told him time and time before that the box for the upper unit was located at the side door, and his response was always, "Okay, we'll correct the problem.” Now, his excuse is the location of the box. This has to be a lie. I have lived in an upper unit in the past where my only entrance was the side door, and my mailbox was located, at the side door, and the carrier delivered to the side door! Milwaukee has thousands of duplexes with this same layout. So, now I'm hearing the mail carrier just stuffs all and everybody's mail in one mailbox, regardless of how many units and individual entrances there are? I need this matter corrected. Most importantly, someone needs to contact the mail carrier supervisor at the Parklawn location and give him a lecture about speaking to customers with some respect. Thank you.

I walked up to a post office clerk without waiting in line in order to nicely tell the clerk that I wanted to talk with a supervisor. I was pleasant and nice. The clerk told me I needed to wait in the line in order to talk with a supervisor. I replied to the clerk, "I have to wait in line just to talk with a supervisor?" The clerk replied in the affirmative.

I immediately waited in line (although I thought it was ridiculous). After waiting in line, I talked with a supervisor regarding my other post office issue, then I told supervisor about the matter regarding being told to wait in line just to talk with a supervisor. The supervisor told me that I didn't have to wait in line just to talk with a supervisor. I told her that the clerk told me I had to wait in line.

The clerk happened to be standing next to us because that was the clerk's work station. The clerk turned to me and said, "I told you that (to wait in line) because I don't have time for you." I objected to that clerk's statement and I said, "What?! What did you say?! You don't have time for me?!" The clerk replied, "I had customers in line to help." I protested angrily to the clerk, and I replied to the clerk, "I am a customer."

The supervisor was, of course, still standing there and told the clerk to not talk with me anymore. The clerk then said smugly, "Okay", with a prideful-like expression on the clerk's countenance. I then finished all my complaints to the supervisor. When I asked for the name of the Postmaster there, the supervisor would not give me the name of the Postmaster. The supervisor told me I could phone the phone numbers the supervisor gave me (I had to ask the supervisor for a phone number).

The supervisor did not give me the Postmaster's name at that location, even after I asked her for the Postmaster's name. She did say she was going to speak with the clerk about my complaint, but the supervisor seemed to also try to slightly intimidate me (without success) and to try to slightly intimidate me about me not contacting the Postmaster and about not taking my complaint further than the supervisor. The supervisor never told me to not complain further; she just seemed to be slightly trying to intimidate me by telling me, "I was going to talk with the clerk about the situation, but if you want to contact someone else, then you can do that 'instead.'" It was like she was telling me that if I contacted someone else, then she wouldn't talk with the clerk the way I wanted the supervisor to talk with the clerk to be confronted by supervisory person. I was not intimidated, but the supervisor still did not give me the name of the Postmaster, even after I asked the supervisor for the name of the Postmaster there.

The arrival date fell on a Saturday. The shipping was standard mail. As I tracked the shipping, the order switched from being delivered by FedEx. USPS was to deliver the package. The mail truck was visible from my window. So, I went down to retrieve my package.

When I reached the mailboxes (which by the way is located in a high traffic area, right off the laundry room), nothing was there. I was able to catch up with the mail carrier outside and inquired about my package. The carrier said she left it on top of the mailboxes on the ledge. I told her nothing was there and asked her to come inside and see for herself. She proceeded to tell me that "they" told her to leave residents' packages out an exposed manner. That did not sit well with me.

When we got to the mailboxes, she said that she placed the package there, and again "they" told her to leave packages there, which is completely out in the open for anyone who wanted to walk off with it. I asked for her name and she wrote it down on a “Delivery Notice/Reminder” receipt. USPS told me that they were not liable for the package, even though the carrier used no sound discretion by leaving my package out in plain view only to be stolen. And it was stolen in a matter of minutes! I was told by USPS that the only option I had was to file a complaint to the postmaster, which I did. I was given a confirmation number and was told that at the end of its investigation, I would be contacted of their findings.

I live in subsidized income and am a disabled person. I take medications daily. I got no satisfaction from USPS and my order from Eddie Bauer was stolen. I just cannot get past the fact that a mail carrier would leave a consumers' package out in such an exposed manner. A package with the company's name and log splashed across it! I feel helpless that USPS was so cold and uncaring about what had happened to me. I feel that there will be no justice for me.

I have had the same post office box for five years, yet USPS keeps sending about half of my mails back to the sender with a "box abandoned" sticker on it. It is not our local post office because they have been great. The problem seems to be at other large sorting places, namely Omaha and Denver. My husband had been dealing with heart problems and we have seen numerous doctors and had numerous tests. We now have medical bills in collection because USPS kept returning them to sender as "box abandoned!"

What a pain. How do I fix this? I have regularly complained to our local Post Office and the Post Master clicks around on his computer and assures me it's all fixed. I was in there a month ago to complain; he said it's been fixed. Today, we get a call from a credit agency for medical bills being returned as "box abandoned." I am at my wit's end!

I sent a 3 oz. gold piece to a buyer in Pennsylvania and I have the purchase and shipping records to prove it. My mistake is that I didn't put insurance since I have sent lots of gold and other items with no problems. The package was a flat rate envelope that is usually there in three days. The tracking records show that it to went to the delivery bag of the mail person on the third day but was delivered on the 10th day when my buyer signed for it. After he signed for it, which canceled the insurance if i had any, the gold piece then went missing. The fact it disappeared in the mail person's bag for a week before delivery is proof enough to me of a foul play.

I have all the records printed to prove it. I got a hold of consumer affairs for the postal service and they basically don't care. He has sent out an email to ask the places to look for the item in case it fell out! This item was stolen. Where are the mail police? If it was there in three days and no piece, then maybe--but what happened for a week? I just emailed him to post that I will pay a $500 recovery reward for the piece. This is not fair.

Unless I get help, I will pay people to go there and post fliers with a high bounty for the reward that leads to the arrest of this postal employee--unless the piece is not found and the reason for its disappearance, besides insurance, is for damage and not blatant theft. Now, I have more pieces to sell in the future and there is no way to ship them to him. There is a thief who is delivering mails and no one will step up to do anything about it. This is a federal institution, can I call the FBI?

I have a delivery that was left with this post office on Oct 5, 2010 at 9:46 by UPS. I had to call today at 4:00 to see if they had it. The answer was, "Yeah, it's on the shelf up there." I'm confused as to what to do, so I ask. Answer, "Well, the carrier wasn't comfortable leaving it on the porch." I was home all day and no one came to the door. They are supposed to deliver tomorrow. I have not trust that his will happen.

Please get this post office some help in management. The clerks act like they are doing a favor when you go to mail a package. I also have an account with Stamps.com that I will probably close. I ordered supplies and I had to go in to the counter to pick them up. Again, after I called to find out where they were. They will not put my deliveries in a locker even though I pay for a post office box. They always say they are too big. The supplies I ordered were in an envelope. They definitely would have fit in a locker. This negates the reason to use an online service, doesn't it? Lonnie is not a good manager and mostly has a bad attitude when you have to deal with him. Thank you.

This started back in 2009 when I moved to an apartment with my fiance. I moved from a different city but the apartment we moved into was no more than 1 mile from his previous address. He didn't even move out of his zip code! For about 6 months, he would receive mail at both his new and old addresses and I would receive mail at the apartment, then suddenly there was no more mail for either us. I called the postmaster at our location and she gave us some excuse about our mail got stuck in a change of address loop and was going in circles getting stickers for forwarding but never actually making it out of the vacuum and getting delivered.

After I called the first time, our mail was finally delivered, a big stack of bills/letters/notifications from the last six months. My God, what would we do without the internet. Everything went okay for a while until the mail started showing up at his parents house again and not the apartment. I called again and they told me his correct address was his old one and they have no record of him moving to the new apartment. We had lived in the apartment for about 8 months at this time. By this time, I had checked the "paperless" box for every bank/credit account and bill. Unfortunately, things like car insurance and replacement debit/credit cards still come through the mail. I pay my insurance policy online and then they send me my permanent insurance cards. Luckily, Progressive keeps track of every piece of correspondence going in or coming out. Progressive Insurance tried to send me my insurance cards eight times, I never received a single one.

Finally, sometime after that policy had lapsed and I was starting a new one, the cards came, just in time for them to be expired. I was appalled since I had nothing coming in the mail. I was no longer concerned with mail delivery until we got Netflix. The first 3 DVDs were delivered when Netflix told us they would. The next DVDs we received were delivered a week late and the packaging was torn open.

Needless to say, "someone", i.e. the postal carrier, had been taking my etflix movies home, watching them, then delivering them to me. And now, just this last week, I requested new cards be sent to us since we had opened a new credit card account in light of someone making attempts to steal our identities. A confirmation was sent on 9/23/10 saying the cards would be there in 7 business days. On 10/6/2010, I received an e-mail saying the mail had been "returned to sender", no one was living at this address. When did my postal carrier make the determination whether I live in my apartment or not?

I called the same exact postmaster that I had been dealing with this past year and she said to me she has no record of them ever delivering mail to me, Tiffany, and that my fiance's address was still his old one. Why after a year and four months, is this issue not resolved? The postmaster continued to tell me that apartments were increasingly difficult to deliver because postal carriers don't have time to actually look at what they're putting in the box and also, since they have so many problems at our particular location that I should move to a different apartment building. Is the government going to subsidize me to pay $300 more a month for an apartment so the post office has an "easier" time delivering my mail? I have had it. I hope the post office crashes and burns. I want everyone there to lose their job. They want to be paid for doing nothing; their mistakes are our faults and they have no accountability or responsibility to us, the public.

Now the forward has been lifted and all my mail goes back to sender. The companies that receive it back change my address to the forwarding address. I have letters from the USPS to give to the billing companies but I am being fined, charged with late fees, account closures, loss of terms due to late payments, interest fees and so on. The postmaster says there is no reason this should be happening and there is nothing he can do. I own a business outside of the country and there have been several occasions, too many in fact, that the slow mail delivery service in the United States has cost me business. First of all, the average person is not aware that international mail, especially from this country, Senegal, is right across the water from NY. The flight time is about 8 or 9 hours and all international mail bags are put, free of charge to the country of origin, on the first flight going to the destination country.

This is a uniform Geneva Convention protocol and is followed by every country on earth, regardless of size or amount of delivery. If there's mail to go out, once you pay at your local post office, it's shipped to wherever you need it to go, by plane and in our case, it arrives that evening. Basically it's free express service to the US. When it's turned over to US Customs, this is where the system breaks down, and then to the USPS, any thought of 'express' goes out the window.

Years past, before the Patriot Act I will ad, I could ship an item Friday afternoon here in Africa (Senegal) and it would arrive in my favorite customer Patty's mailbox in Red Hook, New York, Monday morning! This was years ago and it was great! New York people got their mail first, and it made obvious sense. Port Authority to Red Hook was only a couple of hours away. Now? Patty has discontinued ordering from me because of theft. Now that the postal employees have carte blanche to look inside packages and 'confiscate' them without notification to the sender or receiver, she stopped received most of the items I shipped her altogether. Finally, it got too expensive for her and me, so we sadly ceased our business relationship.

There was no way for me to guarantee delivery. DHL charged over $100 for the same envelope. 10 times what it cost for the items I was shipping. I have another lady now, lives in Buffalo, NY. She ordered 2 drumbags that were shipped Sept. 7. It's been almost a month and she still hasn't received them. Fortunately, I took a photo of the package at the post office and the date is stamped on the bottom: **.

Otherwise, she would think I never sent them. I have started doing this with my packages now because some of my fellow Americans do not believe that there are thieves at the post office or that they simply don't deliver for whatever reason (too much work?). When I tell them to call their local carrier or call JFK, they don't follow up on their own and continue to blame me because it's easier. Until the American citizens who pay for this service through their taxes and user fees rise up and demand that the USPS employees be made personally accountable for their individual jobs, they will continue to steal out of the mail after seeing products that catch their eye under the Patriot Act rules (and selling them on eBay - I heard of a postmaster in a small state that does this EVERY DAY to supplement his income!), not deliver mail they deem unimportant (or very important if they don't like the recipient), out of the way locations or whatever else these individuals do to make their jobs, easier.

I am happy to have found this website with so many examples of non-delivery and I will now be able to send this link to my loyal customers. My honor and business integrity is on the line every time I put an item into the US mail system and 6 times out of 10, they make me look really bad! I would suggest that they put clandestine cameras in all points of entry (Miami - which has been very good for me I have to say, slow, but at least they deliver. It's JFK in NY that's the problem) and fire the thieves immediately! Secondly, put in place a procedure for confiscated items, where the sender and receiver are notified and given the option to explain what the package is if it's unknown and to pay for its return. That way there's accountability. Right now, when I send herbal products (for skin and hair care), they just take it whenever they run out! It's obvious to me that that is what is going on because it's not every single time, it's about once a month I get a package missing.

Third, tracking numbers on international packages need to actually be recorded somewhere! Right now, they aren't. The big lie of the USPS is that they track packages. They don't but will lie and ask for tracking numbers. If the customer provides them, they say it's not a number recognized in their 'system' - there is no system! Again, most Americans don't do the follow up to find this out on their own and it looks like international shippers are lying. We aren't, they are because it makes their job easier not to track outside mail. Keeping up with US mail is hard enough and importers just have to 'trust' them to deliver the packages that we have paid them to deliver.

Fourth, have a separate site for business customers to report missing packages, showing proof of mailing and what the package looks like (like I have above), country of origin and shipping date, so that someone can actually take a look/see. Particularly for international USPS customers who pay into your 'system' but have zero representation in the USPS to help when there's a problem. This is not a difficult thing to do and will streamline the system to avoid the casual theft and incompetence that's getting worse as the cutbacks in service get more severe.

A package recognition program would be easy and cheap, just like fact recognition programs are. We send a (good) picture of our package with the country of origin and date of shipping. The computer simply scans all incoming packages for the couple of days after shipping from that country and hits a match. They can then see if the package is in the dead letter office, pushed to the side because of whatever reason or if it simply 'disappeared'. Of course, we would have to have honest people who will tell the truth about the disappearances to make this work. The probability of cover ups will be high if only to protect their fellow USPS employees. Maybe make it a volunteer project for seasoned citizens so there's no cost to the USPS at all.

Everything is done by computer so it's not labor intensive or difficult and everybody would be happy. Fifth, publish the results and 'name and shame' the most offensive offices that have the largest number of missing packages. Then this nonsense would stop. I know I'm dreaming. Corruption is not a word that gets used much in the US with regard to federal employees, particularly blue collar, but there's a serious problem at our major airports and customs offices that is simply being ignored.

Packages were to arrive on a Thurs. noting should up and when we checked the tracking online it read attempted and note left. No note was ever left.

The super said they'd put boxes by her door and she left a note saying to leave packages there just like another neighbor has. Next day, same thing, no note, no packages. We called the 800 # to check and we were told leaving packages is up to discretion of carrier. Why did they have me pay extra then if they weren't going to deliver? Again, no note left either. I was very mad and found which post office in NY it was and phoned and complained. The lady was very rude and said she'd make sure packages were delivered and took my daughters number if there was a problem.

Still no packages! I finally told my daughter to go get them. She had to borrow blankets from a neighbor and a towel! Tuesday 9/14, one week later, she went to post office in am to pick up. Whoever was the person who dropped the ball needs to be held accountable. I needed to get the check sent to me, deposited in my bank today. This is a tremendous financial hardship for me. My son would have sent the money Western Union if the US post office wouldn't have been able to guarantee the delivery, but they did.

On August 19th, 2010, I went to the post office to send off three items that I sold on eBay. While I was in line, one of the employees told me to go to the automated machine to pay for postage. Even though there was only one person in front of me, I went along with the employee to use it. I sent all packages off in flat rate medium boxes Priority Mail. I always get delivery confirmation when I mail eBay items. Two of the three receipts had "Delivery Confirmation Expected deliver date Saturday August 21." Then it had Label# and the tracking number. The receipt in question had no tracking number. It had the other information such as delivery confirmation paid, expected delivery August 21, etc.

Because I didn't notice the number missing, I didn't write it down on the receipt. All the other packages arrived as promised on that Saturday. I have been to that Post Office three times, before I actually was told anything. They said I accidentally hit that I had the Delivery Confirmation tag, so the machine didn't issue me a number. I would have never had this problem, if I didn't listen to that employee who suggested I use that machine. I have read many accounts online where after bugging the USPS, they were eventually able to track the lost packages. I feel this is the very least they should do for me. I paid for the service but because the package didn't get there, the buyer has filed a claim on me.

The package was not delivered until approximately 4:15 p.m. on September 1, 2010. The recipient texted me at 4:20 p.m. on September 1, 2010 and told me the package had just arrived. I asked her if she signed for it and she said no. She waited at the house for the package until about 1:30 p.m. and it was not there when she left home. The recipient told me that the package was dropped in the mail slot around 4:00 p.m. and her brother saw the deliverer when he/she came up to the house.

The recipient also stated that she checked the tracking number (**) on line at 2:00 and the computer said that it was out for delivery. Also, I had selected that the package could be left at the delivery destination, so no one was required to sign for the package. When I contacted the US Post Office at Little Rock AFB, AR, they told me that their records show the package was delivered at 11:09 a.m. The Postal worker recommended that I contact your office for recourse under the circumstances. The recipient's name is Ms. Eboness **. I swear this statement is true to the best of my knowledge.

I was receiving advertisements and magazines addressed in other names than the ones who lived at my address. I began putting them in the outgoing box in my building. After a few days of doing so, the mail carrier put the magazines and advertisements in a rubber band and circled "current residence" on the addressee portion of the magazines. I again placed it in the outgoing mailbox. After this incident, I noticed I wasn't receiving mail. After over a week, I happened to look into the back of my mailbox and noticed a green plastic cover that said "property of US post office on it". I popped it out of place and left it inside my mailbox. I immediately knew it had to do with the prior incident. I called my local post office the next morning and explained my situation to the person who answered, who happened to be the post carrier's manager.

Within a few hours, she called me back on speaker with my post person and another female employee. I demanded the mail carrier explain why she put the green cover on the back of my mailbox and stopped delivering mail. Her first excuse was that back in April, I left a note asking her to hold my mail because I was going out of town. I told her that was irrelevant because it was already August when this happened and I had received all my mail from then up until a week prior. I then asked her about the magazines and advertisements being put back in my mailbox after I put them in the outgoing mail and I told her it was rude of her to do so. It's my mailbox and if I don't want this being delivered, I have the right to put it in the outgoing mail to which the manager agreed.

She then said she believed that no one lived there which was why it was being put in the outgoing mail, which is ridiculous because if no one lived there, who would have been putting the mail in the outgoing mail? It would have just accumulated in the mailbox. She then said I was rude for doing that. Her manager jumped in and said that she should never speak to a customer like that and they began to argue back and forth. Her manager then said she would take care of the situation from there on. I asked what happened to all my mail that she had refused to deliver for that time frame, she said it has been returned to the sender. This is a huge inconvenience as I had packages being delivered. This is one of the tracking numbers for one of the items which was returned **. I believe she tampered with my mail by refusing to deliver it.

I send out my USCIS application packet on August 31, 2010 via express mail next day delivery, that is on the 1st of September 2010 (guaranteed delivery before 12 PM). Tracked the package all day. Got no updates. I called USPS customer service and they said the mail man will return and update the status of the mail. They only know to read what I was able to read online.

Next day, 2nd of Sept 2010, I called again 1800-ask-USPS: no updates on the tracking number. Update: Arrival at Unit, September 01, 2010, 10:20 am, CHICAGO, IL 60604. Got the consumer affairs number 612-, but I am unable to locate what happened. They provided me with consumer affairs number in Chicago. Called consumer affairs office and spoke to 3 agents. They are unable to help locate the package. They provided me with the LOOP mail facility number. Called the number (312-xxx-3530/3533/3534). They responded and provided me with verbal information as follows: “We attempted to deliver your item at 11:43 am on September 01, 2010 in CHICAGO, IL 60604 and a notice was left.”

I called again to talk to manager. There is no onsite supervisor as per the agent. I called consumer affairs at Chicago and asked them to call the facility to check the mail. The agent called and the USPS mail room lady explains the mail is suppose to go to USCIS and the company doesn’t come and pickup and they don’t have access to mailing address provided. They have to buzz in and someone will come out and accept the mail. Ok that was good news.

All day passed with no information. Agents got my number but never responded back to me. One of the agents asked to call back tomorrow morning. On the 3rd of September, I called the same USPS LOOP facility. The agent says packet has been delivered. We don’t hold any packets/mails here. Called consumer affairs. Agents start screaming on me over the phone: “We don’t have information. Contact USCIS. We have left the notice and they have to come pick it up.” I asked to connect to her supervisor: no supervisor and no other agents to transfer.

Called USPS LOOP facility in Chicago. I was put on the hold and left no response for an hour. I called consumer affairs. The same agent starts screaming no information, just the LOOP facility number to provide. I called LOOP facility Chicago post office again and asked if they are willing to help me or not or just want me to keep calling just to know if the mail was delivered. So updated with this. Now the information is different: packet has been delivered but no delivery confirmation. Agent asked for a fax number to fax the delivery confirmation label. Nothing so far. I’m still waiting.

My other friends mailed the application the same day in the evening and it was accepted by USCIS next day morning at 10:30 AM (FedEx and UPS). That is what I called service. I called them to see if they can help me move this packet out of USPS and mail to USCIS. But USPS has the most disgusting staff to deal with. USPS needs to conduct training sessions to their illiterate employees and teach them how to talk to customers.

I hope these people monitors the calls. They have the rude people sitting around all over the place who just don’t know what they are doing and provide any help to their customers. I would recommend not using this service at all and don’t even try to talk to any. Most unreliable, irresponsible and careless staff. They don’t know what they are doing. My application was delayed and as per the guarantee, the mail was never delivered before 12pm next day but instead was sitting somewhere else. I lost my money, my application is late, and my processing is delayed.

I have my receipt that shows the date that it was accepted and the scheduled date of delivery, which reads August 20th at 3 pm.

On the morning of September 3rd I received a telephone call from the secretary of the superintendent where I applied for the job. She was nice enough to call and let me know that while she saw on my envelope when it was supposed to be delivered, it was not delivered until the morning of September3rd, exactly 2 weeks after it was guaranteed to ship. The secretary who called me told me the mail person who delivered the envelope told her that I did mail the package correctly, but somehow they thought it had been shipped, until they realized it was still lying in the bin at the post office (for two weeks?).

The secretary also went on to tell me that while I was qualified for the job and they liked my resume, it was unfortunate that being they had to fill the position quickly it was too late and someone had already been hired. I am trying to figure out what could have happened. I never thought that the United States Postal Service would have been this unreliable.

I applied for a job using the USPS express mail package. This job was very important to me both financially and to move forward in my career, especially being that at this time in the economy there is not a high demand for jobs in my area. I was informed that while they would have been interested in me getting the job, it was not possible because my express package was received two weeks late. I don't understand what could have happened and I feel that this incident truly cost me this job.

The US Postal Agent informed me that priority mail does not guarantee delivery any faster than 3 to 5 business days. She also stated that delivery period for regular mail is the exact same period of time. Essentially, the post office is saying that mail between two major cities (in my case Alexandria, VA and Chicago, IL) is the same, regardless of the postage you apply. I asked for the agent's ID, because I did not want to be accused of making this up. It would appear that the US Postal office is misrepresenting the service between a priority letter and a regular first class letter. This is more than 10 times the rate of a basic first class letter, with no difference in delivery service. The letter was sent to the bank for deposit. It resulted in late fees for payments linked to the deposit.
