Bank check and ATM lost in mail. They were mailed on 4/22/2010. I still receive my neighbor’s mail constantly. My bank has to close my husband’s account (Matthew **). Payroll check will have to be reissued and we will not have access to our money again. Credit cards have been lost as well in the past along with other important items that had to be resubmitted. I spend more time hunting down my mail and redelivering to neighbors. My husband is so upset about this last lost mail because it causes a lot of issues and trouble that will take a lot of time to correct and change. Will the post office be willing to give us a post office box at the Washington station in Murrieta? Would the same couriers distribute this mail as well?

For the past 8+ weeks, our regular mail courier has been out. We have spotty service to our business with deliveries many times past closing hours. I have complained several times to only have the local supervisor call and tell me to call her anytime there is an issue and give her direct line. Before, I called when it was past 5pm, but no one answered. I called the next day, and many times all day to have the line never answered.

This number has been verified with the mail couriers to be correct. They just don't answer the line, as usual, since I have experienced this over 10 years with this office. Or a nasty response from the delivery person or to be told they were minutes ago just given the mail to be delivered (sometimes after 5pm). I have called the USPS line, and after my last call last night, they asked, "I contact you." They felt that they might need to get the issue resolved but will keep trying.

We are a business that received checks from clients many times via mail for trades placed, clients who live in the same area. We have had market loss due to the mail not being delivered, only to see it late the next day and their check is there. We have had several times of no mail being delivered or showing up past office ours of 8:30am-5pm. We now have to tell our clients to no longer mail checks and have them hand-delivered due to unreliability of service.

Many times when we asked about getting better service, we got short and nasty responses. One courier reported that many times she is handed our mail late in the day at the last minute to deliver. I also know we are not getting mail. For one week, I mailed out a postcard back to us with the date written on it. One card a day for 5 days starting on Monday. I only received 2 of the cards. That was over 4 weeks ago. I used the correct postage for the size of the card, and the address was stamped. So there should be no issues with reading it. The machine obviously had no issues with 2 of the cards.

During the whole 8+ weeks, we have seen a big decline of mail and have not received items clients have mailed; and vendors have reportedly mailed to us. This is the first time in 10 years it has reached this level.

This might be a little long, so please bear with me. I have had a lot of bad experiences with USPS. I live past a State maintained road. So do others I know up the street from me. I called the post master and asked him if I could move my box to the end of my driveway so I could keep an eye on my mail. He said that there was no way he would send his truck down my road to deliver my mail. My driveway is 100 feet down a smooth gravel road, slightly down hill with anywhere to turn around. I own my home and land. I live in a mobile home. I told him that my road was smooth and well maintained. Also, that I deserved the right to have security of my mail being delivered. I told him that I should have the same rights as these 2 people up the street have. The difference is they live in houses, I live in a trailer.

So I called the 800 number and made a formal complaint. Nothing was done. I asked if I couldn’t have security then they should have to move their boxes beside the road too. They still have their boxes in front of their houses and my mail is still getting stolen. I guess I don’t have any rights because I don’t measure up in the post master's eyes.

Another thing that happened to me, I bought an item from eBay (this keyboard I’m using actually). The seller was supposed to ship it UPS, they did the ole bait n switch and sent it through USPS. I wrote a note to the carrier asking him to please leave me a note when it comes so I can pick it up at the PO. He could have leave my packages lying on the ground or leaves my mailbox open using the lid as a table to lay the package on. Instead, he forces my package in my mailbox, using the lid as a hammer, thus breaking my mailbox lid off the hinge and left the lid dangling. I knew that I couldn’t get help if I called, so my husband fixed the box and we both were happy that we got to the mailbox before the thieves did.

Yesterday, I and my husband went to the box, there was a lot of mail in my box, and none was ours. There was important looking envelopes and such. I called the PO again, the PM said that he will call and tell the carrier to do better. I asked him what to do with the mail, he said put it back in my box. I asked him about my mail, I know he put it in my neighbors box, he said that the people on my road will return my mail. How do I know if they will? I haven’t got any back yet? I keep getting other peoples mail so does my neighbor, the only one I talk to. So what can I do about this matter? I need help here, please! The carrier broke the lid off my box and my mail has been delivered mistakenly and stolen.

I sent my wife to send off a laptop. PayPal contacted me and said the payment was a fraud. My wife stopped shipment on the package not 30 minutes later. We've talked to the postmaster and the supervisor and no one seems to know where it went. I have proof. The postal service has people stealing other poeple's belongings.

I mailed five envelopes certified mail on April 7 to file taxes. Three have arrived, but two have been labeled "acceptance" but never shipped. I called the postal service to see what happened and they opened a dispute case for me. They explained someone would call back in 2-3 days. I called in after three days and the person I spoke with said there was no update and to wait a few more days. After waiting a few days, I called back and they said the case was closed and there was no reason why. I asked the lady what exactly the dispute entails, "Does someone look for the package? Do they ever find it? Or am I wasting my time?" She, of course, was really rude and told me she had no idea. She gave me a number to my local post office to see the status of my claim. She also opened another dispute and told me I would be contacted in 2-3 days.

I called that number and the lady who answered the phone mumbled her name. I asked if it was the postal service and she said yes and told me she would put me on hold. I waited for around 5 minutes and hung up. I called back and got the same woman. I told her that I had just called in, and she said "Yeah, call back in about 2 hours. I'm real busy right now." I asked if there was someone else that could speak with and she said, "No, just call back in 2 hours." I couldn't call back, so I waited to hear the response from my dispute. Of course, I received no response. I called after five days to check on my dispute. The lady said there was no updates. It was still open and gave me the number again to the woman who is too busy. I called the woman back and she said there's no dispute/claims that happened with the post office. She said there's nothing they can do, but I could call back to speak with a supervisor in an hour. I disconnected.

I ended up calling the post office that I went to initially to deliver the letter and she said the same thing. There's no dispute process. She said that it was probably being returned back to me and it takes 15 days. I explained that it never left the post office! She then said, "We don't hold mail, but that's a problem that there was no updates." She said I could go to the post office with proper documentation to reimburse my postage. My taxes are late. I have to refile. My refund will be delayed and I have paid for postage that didn't deliver my mail. I find it ridiculous that we pay these workers so much money and they are all unhelpful, not knowledgeable, not friendly and rude. The unfortunate thing is that there is no course of action. I am stuck.

It's now April 26, 2010; my package has still not been delivered, found, accessed, you name it, as I continue to call. No one can tell me what happened to my daughter's package that I had sent with her necessary clothing, etc! I need to know what has happened with this package, and they have been rather unresponsive. I am graduated from Wright State University in Dayton, OH. After my graduation, I had moved to Tulsa, OK. As I could not carry my entire luggage, I kept some with my friend in Dayton. He had mailed me those items through USPS on 04/02/2010, but I did not receive it. When I tried to contact the post office in Tulsa, they are saying that they don’t have any information about my package.

When my friend had verified with the post office where he had mailed, they are saying that they don’t have any information. My friend had forgotten to take the tracking service which would cost around 0.80 cents. My friend had got the receipt with him, but the USPS people are unable to find it. When I tried to contact the customer service people, they are saying that they cannot do anything.

What should I do now? The package got some important items in it. The package includes one of my friend’s graduation certificates which are very important. It also includes my laptop bag, one DVD, mouse and my blazer. The important thing in it is my friend’s graduation certificates. Please help me in finding this package.

I reached in to get my mail, and the postal worker grabbed my hand and pushed it against the open mail box and told me that I had to wait to get my mail, because the other section was not closed. I told her that was fine and I did not know this. (In the past, I have done this with the regular postal worker.) She called me a ** and told me that I should have gotten my mail the previous day if I was in a hurry.

I contacted the post office, and the post master in charge asked me what did I do to make her react the way she did to me. I contacted and left messages with the post master. I never received a call from Ronald **.

I called to book an appointment for passport services. VM informed me to walk in from Mondays-Fridays, from 10 AM- 2PM, so I showed up at 11AM, Friday, 23rd of April. I stood in line for 10 minutes, only to be turned away by Alicia, saying, "no more walk ins". As of last week, I had to call for an appointment, went outside, called, and was hoping to go back in with an appointment.

The machine still said the same thing, and no messages about appointments, which could be made by leaving messages on the machine. I stood in line again, and watched someone ahead of me being taken care of (the other's concern is about a new passport). I got up there to be told "sorry" again, but they would make the appointment for me. I had been misinformed, and was sent away with an appointment 17 days out.

I spoke to a manager to see if I could get the passport lady to help me, as she was right there. He said no. He is a supervisor, and would have the VM changed, but still asked me to come back. I find this very annoying, and 2 hours of my important busy day was taken from me, due to nothing in my doing, but through the fault of the Post Office. I am appalled at how I was treated and discarded.

For over 3 years, I keep receiving someone else's mail. It's always the same person whose mail box is next to mine. I can understand that people aren't perfect and that occasionally mistakes are made. But this has existed and going on the 4th year now. I have contacted the post master at least 8 times and personally talked to her with her promising to "look into the matter" and determine which mail carrier is doing this. Meanwhile, I'm wondering if other people are receiving my mail. I told her that was a concern and she didn't seem to share my concern at all.

While it's inconvenient to have to do the mail carrier's job and put the mail in the right box, it has now escalated to costing me money and affecting my credit. I did not receive a credit card statement for 2 months. Since it is this company's policy not to send a bill when no money is due, I assumed no money was due. Wrong! I verified with the credit card company that the bills were sent. I never received them. This has cost me over $70 in late fees and interest payments, and has affected my credit score just when I was in a transaction with a loan company to refinance my mortgage.

And the last straw was yesterday, April 22, 2010, when once again I received mail that wasn't mine! I called the post office to talk to the post master and learned she was on vacation. Some other person, acting as the post master, treated me rudely and I have no hope of this being resolved. So, I wrote a note on the person's mail I received telling them that I've been getting their mail for 3 years, and put it back into his box. Now I've involved him as well. I am so sick of this miserable post office and their escalating incompetence.

They keep charging more and more and giving less and less service. If there was another way of receiving my mail, I would leap at the chance. This government agency is one of the worst ever! I hate them! Why can't they be fired? Especially the lame Post Master in Fallbrook, and my stupid lame mail carrier who can't read! Don't they take a test to determine some sort of minimal competency before letting these idiots lose to handle important documents? Apparently not! And for all this incompetence, they get paid for health insurance and a pension for life? Jeez, I'm thinking maybe I should become a mail carrier!

On 3/20/10, I went to the PO, stood on line for about 1/2 hour and spoke to a Ms. H who informed me that she did not have a key for me or no information that the locks had been changed.

To this date, I still don't have a key. I've been calling and calling. I've been there on numerous occasions and finally Ms. H says I have to pay $27.00 for the mailbox key. I told Ms. H. I was coming with the money for the key, she said okay. I sent a friend to pick up the key and she had left for the day early. No one else knew anything about the key. Why! I didn't ask for the lock to be changed. There was nothing wrong with my mailbox. I've been there for 2 years and never had a problem with my lock. I'm not getting my mail, I haven't in weeks. I even left a note on the mailbox with my home number, my cell number and the number to Luz in the management office.

We have a rural carrier, who refused to deliver parcels to the house. He leaves a notice in the mailbox to pick the parcel up at the post office. If, for some reason, he does bring the parcel with him, he pulls into the driveway, and sits there honking his horn, until someone goes out to get the parcel. In some cases, the parcel is medications, and because we may not be home on a Friday, it results in the medications not being picked up until Monday. When one of his customers complains about the service, the postmaster makes excuses, and does not correct the situation. The carrier then sends the mail back to the sender red-handed as, "not at this address". He also harasses the customers with notices to move the mailbox, or raise the mailbox. All this, under threat of curtailed mail.

One customer has moved his box back 4", and then was told to move it forward 4", and then was told to move it to the right 4". I told the postmaster I was going to file a complaint with the Regional Office of Seattle, WA, and was told, "go ahead. It won't do you any good". So as many complaints are filed against this individual, he continues to provide substandard service, and customer harassment. His refusal to deliver parcels, results in delayed delivery, and in some cases the delay is critical (as with the medications). His refusal to deliver a certified letter, when I first moved here, resulted in the delay of closure I was selling in Oregon. By returning the mail marked as "no longer at this address" resulted in a domino effect on other correspondence, and an expenditure of time, and effort to correct the problem with the sender.

On 4/19/10 ,I paid for an overnight express package to be delivered to Goleta by 3 pm on 4/20/10. The package was not delivered by 3 pm, so we called the local USPS station. The representative searched for the package and had it delivered by 3:21 pm. The policy clearly states that USPS will refund the $38.15 fee if the delivery terms are not met.

USPS claims they left a notice at 2:35 pm; however, my daughter was at her home waiting for the package all afternoon and when we called, they denied any prior delivery attempts. Therefore, USPS is responsible for the reimbursement of fees. It's not plausible to assume there was a delivery attempt at 2:35 pm and that the carrier then turned around to "re-deliver" a package that they could not locate an hour later. USPS has refused to investigate this matter. They claim their protocol is to have the patron file a complaint with consumer affairs before they will acknowledge an issue.

It's nothing but junk and only gets delivered because you can only service by accepting high volume junk at ridiculous charges. In essence your beholding customer is the bulk mailer not the tax paying citizens.

Today I found a recurring problem popped up big time. In weeding through the junk, I found some legitimate but almost all had been delivered to the wrong address, then redelivered after the person at the other address pointed out the error. I guess in your defense you could say that the number "6613" was the same and that your sorter are only capable of read numbers. Please close your doors and let the market do what you can't.

I received a delivery notice about a package at the local post office. I called to have the package redelivered to me on Monday, April 19. I was home the entire day waiting for my package. I made several trips to my mailbox to check my mail. At 4pm, there was still no mail in my box. I then called the 800 number on the slip to check my redelivery. I was told I had to wait because post office delivers up to 5pm. When I did not see my delivery after 5pm, I called again. I was then given the local phone number to speak with them since the customer service rep had no solution as to why I did not get my package. I called the cathedral station and spoke with Ms. Brady.

After being put on hold for quite a while, she came back online and told me she will schedule it for tomorrow. My package had not left the building and her attitude was as if I was taking time away perhaps from her leaving for the day. I advised I needed my package since I spent the entire day waiting for it. She told me that everyone had left for the day and no one was there to redeliver the package. It seems strange since this post office's closing time was 7pm and it was not even 6pm. I was quite upset since time and time again I have experienced similar problems with this post office.

I was once told my package was not there, only to receive a phone call telling me that they found it. I have had my magazine stolen from this location as well and complained, but had no resolution to my problem. It seems to me that post office employees don't give a *** about taxpayer's mail/packages. I have since tried to avoid using the post office by sending and receiving packages by FedEx and UPS. I was unaware this package was being sent by the post office, I certainly would have paid extra to use UPS.

I tried all means to avoid this post office because of the lack of sensitivity of the postal employees. Ms. Brady advised me that I should have been home to collect my package the first time it was delivered and if I am not home when it is redelivered, it is my problem. I am outraged by this remark. I have complained prior but it is quite obvious the problem still exists. Thank goodness for the internet and the means of handling our business where we can avoid the post office and not have to stand in line to buy stamps, etc. I am forwarding this complaint to you and maybe it might reach the proper person to address this situation.

I paid for an express (overnight) delivery from Florida to New York which was guaranteed to arrive at its destination by noon on 4/17/2010. The front desk at the Holiday Inn was checked at 11:30 am and the package was not there. Again, the front desk was checked at 12:00. At 12:25, when I learned it was still not at its destination, I called the USPS 800 number and spoke with a representative who confirmed that it had not arrived but was on its way. At 1:06 pm, I took a screen shot of the USPS Tracking page on my computer, which indicates that the package was still out.

I went today to the post office to apply for a refund for the service as the package arrived late but their computerized confirmation indicates, incorrectly, that the package arrived at 11:44 am. They referred me to the 800 number for assistance. This is the same number that I called on Saturday, where it was confirmed that the package was late. They do not, however, retain records of the calls made, which would confirm my discussion with their agent at 12:25. She is the person who described the refund process to me. I was directed by the agent I spoke with today (4/19) to contact Consumer Affairs.

My son was in New York and based the plans for the day on the noon time frame that was guaranteed by the Postal Service. Plans had to be altered to accommodate the delay as the package contents were needed for one of the appointments. Failure to deliver has caused me now to have to return to the Post Office as directed per my 12:25 phone conversation to secure the refund. This results in a loss of time. I was then directed to call the 800 number as the confirmation information shows compliance by USPS. I was told that the 800 number personnel would investigate. They do not. They do not have records of calls. They can show me a written signature accepting the delivery, but only a computer generated time for the delivery. They directed me to contact Consumer Affairs. Actual costs would be the $18.30 delivery charge, misc. phone calls and time. Thanks you for your assistance with this matter.

On March 15, 2010, I sent a package to my sister in Dallas, TX. I included 2 personal checks inside the package. She never received it. I found this out because someone in Dallas post office mailed me back one of the checks. There was a note saying "this check was found loose in the mail". I started to call the USPS from one number to the other, from consumer service to customer service. The answer is the same, they apologized and gave me a reference number, told me that they would call back after 48 hours.

No one called back, so I had to call them 3 more times to get more reference numbers. Today when I called, they simply said they resolved the problem. The package never scanned in NJ, so they did not know where the package went. As I did not buy insurance, they are not responsible for it. I understand this part, but then I requested a postage refund and they said again and again, they are not responsible even for a refund of the postage because they don't refund postage unless it is over night shipment.

Basically they don't take any responsibility at all when someone's letter or package is missing. They are not responsible for the ethic behavior of their employees. I am not sure what the point is to write this complaint, as even though this is a "free" and "civilized" country, but for me this is no different than the central power, communist society.

The big company, or shall I say the "no competitors USPS" can do anything they want. Citizens can complain as much as they wish, it did not change anything. Even this website can only print out the complaints, what else they can do? It is not going to change anything. They are still one "big" corporation that no one can touch. I mail many packages everyday, from 10 to 20 packages. The postmaster gave us permission to move our rural mailbox to the house about a year ago. I have no problem with our regular carrier. When we have a sub, once or twice a week, we do not get any mail delivered or no packages picked up. At times, they will put the mail in someone else's box. I have called the postmaster many times and she informed me all subs would be informed about where to deliver the mail. It seems like the postmaster is not very caring about the mail being delivered properly. Please advice. My mail does not get delivered nor my packages picked up, causing everything to be late with delivery.

I contacted the office in Randallstown and the reply was since I did not pay for insurance I could not be refunded the money and that was that. I contacted the consumer affairs office downtown Baltimore and there was someone trying to work with me but to avail. I would welcome the chance to have the President of our union explain the real reasons the American Public does not receive their mail in a timely manner. The way your editors blame the postal workers for poor delivery makes about as much sense as blaming the auto-workers who build your cars for a poorly designed auto that gets bad gas mileage.

Please get your facts together take the time to talk to someone in the Postal Service(not management)who is knowledgeable of the problems being caused by a poorly thought out plan for 5 day delivery, the closing of many local offices, and your mail being sent out of state to process local mail! I moved from Giles Place - Bronx New York and placed a change of address with the postal service in December 8th, 2009. The Postal service has ignored my change of address and has sent my creditors and insurance company a fictitious address which is **. Every time I call my creditors and insurance company to rectify this, when it is time to send a statement the Post Office changes it back to that erroneous address. After initiating a fraud complaint - #** - Delissa ** the representative who was handling the case, said she took the forwarding address out of the database on 3/24/2010 and this should not happen again.

However, it has persisted, with the latest occurrence on 4/9/2010 according to my insurance company, Chase Bank, Geico, Capital one. They also reported this erroneous address to Equifax. When I challenged this with the Fraud Dept at USPS, I was told with a dry uncaring attitude by a representative whose name is Carla said they have done everything they could do.

I asked to speak to a supervisor and she said the manager was not available now and she would have her call me back. I asked what was the supervisors name and she replied Ms. B. I have yet to receive a call in reference to this matter and was left with "they did everything they could". I am at my wits end. I have exhausted all efforts to have this rectified through the USPS. I find it interesting that some of my mail gets through, while credit cards, Insurance statements, bank statements do not. When I change it at the banks they report to me that the USPS keeps changing it back to this erroneous address.

I feel that it has escalated to a crime. It is malicious. I have been harassed like this since December 2009. This seems like someone in the Post Office circumvents some of my mail and sends it back as undeliverable, with that change of address. If necessary, I have documented all of the conversations around this issue.

I am begging for your assistance in this matter. I am unable to use my credit cards, I can't get my insurance statements. This has negatively impacted my health. I am extremely depressed about this matter. I am Diabetic and this stress has elevated my levels. My blood pressure has been compromised where I had to be placed on additional medication. My stomach is constantly upset.

I live in a developed but rural area. The USPS delivers mail to most houses in the surrounding area. As I and my neighbors do not receive home delivery, we are required to have a post office box or not be able to receive bills, etc. The USPS has now informed the post office box holders that all post office boxes need to have "new rental form" filled out in order to continue to use our post office boxes. This form demanded identification including government-issued Identification cards and such items as home mortgage or home insurance paperwork.

I have no problem providing the information on government-issued cards but being forced into providing information on such items as home mortgage and insurance is something personal between myself and the private business that provide me with their services. If I received mail service at my residence, I would not have a post office box. If I was not forced into having a post office box, I would not be forced into providing information that is personal and private to complete strangers. I truthfully feel that I am being segregated by actions of the USPS and treated differently than the greater majority of people in our area.

In a nutshell: I mailed a package filled with stuffed animals and handmade get-well cards for my 12 year old cousin who is undergoing life-or-death surgery. My sister and I had purchased a box from the postal center and clearly wrote the address out to a location in Brockton, MA (a hotel my aunt and uncle were staying in near the children's hospital). Not only was the package was never received, but when I checked the tracking information, it says it was mailed to Lexington, KY! The names and zip codes are nowhere close to each other!

I opened a case with USPS and they told me they would look into it and call me in two days. Four days later, I gave them a call back and they told me that the case was closed. After re-addressing my dilemma, they reopened it. Four more days later, I got a call from an employee in Boston that explained since the package never arrived to the correct destination, they would have no record of it. Then I found a number to a Kentucky branch who did nothing for me at all. He refused to check the logs to see where the mess-up came from. He refused to contact the person who received the actual items in Lexington, "Nothing".

It's frustrating how such a well-known government-operated company could do something as irresponsible as this. I wish I could've at least taken a picture of the cards my niece and nephews made for my cousin. Now we're left with nothing on both sides for a paid service that was never fulfilled. If you're curious, the tracking number was "***".

In the past six months, we have had six of our packages delivered to someone else. It took us three weeks for the first packages to be located. One was a $300 cell phone and a boutique outfit, another was blue jeans, and yet another was three pairs of blue jeans and finally, this last lost package has not been recovered and it is designer fabric. I think this record is very, very poor! Is there no accountability within this institution?

What good is a tracking number if it says it has been delivered and it is delivered to God only knows where? Can't they find out the time of delivery by using that tracking number to see where the package was actually delivered to? Why doesn't someone do something about this very poor work performance of the delivery lady? I am out a lot of money because of this and frankly it is just wrong! Who will reimburse me for my losses? The post office just thinks they are above the law and I have talked to many people who say they have had the same types of problems. I am sure since this is a government agency nothing can be done but there should be accountability when it happens time after time! This last package I am out $30 and the other one was $54. We were able to finally locate the other packages by pursuing the issue. They won't do anything with this one whatsoever.

I contacted the general number to the US Postal System several months prior and filed a complaint with the carrier. Speaking with Mr. **, I was assured the problem would be corrected. Now it is three months later and still the same carrier is not delivering "certified return receipt mail" in the manner prescribed. I am blind and have no way to travel to the post office to retrieve mail when I am at home and it can be delivered. The carrier will not even attempt a delivery to my door. I was expecting a letter from an attorney's office in Denver and was advised it had been returned once for non-delivery and advised on April 5, the mail had been sent again, certified mail, for signature.

I remained home everyday this week until after 8:00 pm before going off the property. The carrier placed a ticket in the box, discovered by my husband after 8:00 pm when he came home from work dated 04/07/2010 that letter would be at post office by the next morning, 04/08/2010. Again, I called the central "800" number and spoke with Michele, filing another complaint, at which time she again got Mr. ** on the phone and he assured he would rectify the matter and have the carrier redeliver the mail. I waited until 4:15 on 04/09/2010 and spoke again after receiving an email from Mr. ** advising if I had anymore trouble to call the number listed. Still, there was no delivery of my mail.

Then I decided to run a trace on the letter only to find the postal system falsified the records stating the mail had been delivered at 2:47 pm on April 07, 2010. Strange how the mail was delivered to me with my signature at my residence and never once did it make it to my hands. The mail contained personal documents and a check in the amount of $1074 returning funds for services not provided from the attorney Wesilles and Suchoperk in Denver.

It is time something is done to protect the rights of consumers who pay for these services and do not receive what they pay for.As a blind person I can concede to normal mail delivery my husband will retrieve from the mail box when he comes home from work, but I will not concede to discriminating practices from carriers who feel they can do as they please. We are taxpaying citizens who work hard to pay the salaries of these public service employees and they need to correct the problems or find another set of employees who will be happy to get the job done.

No labor union in the land would condone theft of mail, false recording of legal mail that was never delivered and most of all any attempt at direct or intentional discriminatory practices against consumers.I live in the city on a busy street and it is not safe for me to be alone on the street where the mail box is located. There is no fence, animal or difficulty to arrive at my front door, and the carrier deliberately refuses to come here. I feel she should be replaced as a carrier if this is the treatment she is presenting to concerned citizens in a city environment of less than 20,000 people.

I wish I could file a class action about how the mail carriers treat blind persons and other disabled citizens in receiving their mail in a safe environment. We have protections regarding architectural barriers and yet the United States Postal System employees are being allowed to get away with abusive practices nationwide. It is not only about disabled. It is about every citizen who purchases and pays for the services of the US Postal system. The average postal carrier is paid from $21-$27 dollars per hour plus benefits and yet they are some of the most uncaring employees in the USA today.

Please help to fix this problem. I feel there should be more done to ensure mail is promptly delivered as prescribed, especially paid services that require receiving a signature.

Our local newspaper prints a weekly advertising supplement that is mailed to everyone in the community. They pay postage, "Presorted Standard Postage Paid," with a permit number and everything. And yet, our postmaster refuses to take the time to place them in our P.O. boxes. Instead, she leaves them in a pile or two on the floor under the counter in the lobby. She has been warned in the past that posted mail is required to be delivered in the mailbox. However she refuses to.

I complained to her three months ago, and not only has nothing changed in her practices, but since then, parcels mailed to my street address (the USPS will not deliver to my street address) were returned to the sender. She refuses to look up the P.O. box number. Because we no longer have a choice in which carrier is used when ordering through online companies, I have no way to receive parcels that cannot be mailed to a P.O. box, such as computer software (thanks to Homeland Security rules).

I wish I could "opt out" of the USPS entirely, but that is not possible. In this era when jobs are so scarce, it's tragic that one is wasted on an individual who doesn't appreciate what having no income is like. I say give her a good long taste of unemployment, so she doesn't have to worry about her horrible job anymore. Give it to someone who wants it!

I now have to worry that a postal employee is going to retaliate against me. That means I need to constantly look over my shoulder, as this particular type of worker has known for past violence.

The Postmaster has taken it upon herself to have the subdivision, that is 800 feet away, placed their mailboxes in front our home (7 feet from our driveway). The reason that was given to us was due to snow removal, park vehicles and turn around issues within the subdivision; even though a full size garbage truck has no problems picking up the garbage weekly within the subdivision and yet, the mail carrier cannot turn around in the area.

The mail carrier also delivers mail to homes on dead end roads and to homes on hills and yet this one subdivision, they cannot turnaround? We have already experienced problems with privacy, having our driveway blocked and individuals sitting with their car running, sorting their mail. We have requested for a compromise and have the mailboxes moved down to the property line so to avoid some of the issues and yet the postmaster will not respond to our request. We feel that the subdivision mailboxes should be located in the subdivision or at least at the entrance to it not in front of our home.

We are extremely upset with the Post Office attitude that they can do whatever they want. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why they are going out of business. We realize this is a Federal Government Agency and we have no choice, but we still would like to voice our concerns and see if we have any rights in this matter. We live on a busy main street, our driveway has been blocked, they sit in their car in front of our home while sorting through their mail. We know how unsightly mailboxes can get as we are on our fourth and as long as it isn't in front of their home, they won't care. The postmaster has created a problem with our neighbor.

There was an incident where a company sent a rebate check through the mail. They said it was released on March 17,2010. As of March 26th, I still had not received the mail. The route that I am a part of does not have a regular mailman. So there are 26 different mail people who deliver the mail to my address. In other words, there is a different mailman that delivers the mail everyday except for Sundays when there is no mail of course. I went to the local station as a couple of years ago this problem of the mail going to different addresses of the block was a problem. It was handled. But not this time. I was met with hostility, called out of my name, told to rent a post office box and/or pay 500.00 for something else I am quite not for sure of.

I called Consumer Affairs and I thought the problem was handled from the letter that was delivered to my house in a couple of days. (I received that letter). However, it was not resolved I went to the post office thinking if they could hold the mail for me a couple of days to see if I need to actually have the company to reissue the check. The company told me if they reissued it, would have to go to another address. I was very concerned because now I had to make a decision, home delivery or delivery to another address. I went down to talk to the manager. He said he would hold it

The next day before I had a chance to go get it, it was delivered. Fine. The particular mail I was looking for was still not there. So I went the 2nd day to collect the mail like we had agreed and low and behold, the station mgr met me at the counter and said I don't have the mail. You did not come and get it yesterday and I am not holding anymore mail and that is how we are going to solve this situation and he spoke loud and belligerent, spit dropping from his mouth and at times, me and I kept asking him to please lower his voice. He was shaking, would not lower his voice shouting at me crazy like I was nothing.

I called back the consumer affairs. They said that his mgr was well aware of the situation and again she was told what I could do to get my mail, rent a p.o box, etc. I asked for an apology. She said she could not ask him to do that because it was in the mananger's hand. I talked to the same person both times, the first time she was concerned agreeing was a travesty discourteous, humiliation will not be accepted however, it must have been accepted by his manager because I cannot believe he would risk his career screaming and hollering at me in front of everyone, including the customer service rep who called me a **. I could not believe it. Something has to be done. His manager must have given him the ok to be idiotic towards me. I need help.

We made an appointment for renewal of our daughter's passport for a Saturday. We arrived on time only to find that the clerk who had taken the appointment had mistakenly entered the appointment for the following Saturday. The problem was that our daughter was on spring break and will have returned to school by then, that her passport would expire before she would return after the school year was over and that we had purposely scheduled the appointment because of this.

We explained this to the supervisor, Mr. F, who was absolutely unyielding. He insisted they did not take "walk-ins" and that we only had an appointment for the following Saturday. He refused to process the application despite it being their error. I asked whether there was any legal restriction or rule that precluded taking our daughter's application but he answered only that we were not in his appointment book for that day, that he did not take walk-ins, and that was that. In the time, he argued with us. He could have easily taken the application but instead used the time to argue.

Even though it was their error, there was no accommodation. My daughter is now returning to school without having renewed her passport. In a normal business, this kind of attitude and inflexibility would lose a customer but plainly that doesn't matter with the US Postal Service because they know there is no real choice, remedy or recourse. They advertise it being more convenient to renew passports at the post office but that wasn't the case here.

I shipped a Priority Mail package from post office in Manlius NY 13104 to Emmaus PA 18049 on 1/15/2010. It was the third item on the receipt of several priority packages mailed that day. All of the other packages reached their different destinations.

The box was well wrapped, well taped, with no other codes or letters showing. The label was computer-generated and also covered with clear shipping tape so it could not have gotten wet, smeared or fallen off the box. I had used two $4.05 Priority stamps, equaling to $8.10 worth of postage, which was nearly a dollar more than necessary. So lack of sufficient postage wasn't an issue. I heard from the post office after filing a claim through their website but two months later, no results. It's hard to imagine the package fell from a mail truck.

We've had issues with the Emmaus PA post office in the past, saying items were “not there” and then having them suddenly appear two weeks later or packages not reaching their destination to local business in that town. I doubt that our local post office is the problem. We've had similar things happen with mail sent to the Emmaus PA address from other places in the Northeast other than our local post office.

The package contained two new long-sleeved t-shirts, a new workout jacket and a new journal. I didn't insure it because it seemed Priority Mail is a good gamble and should have arrived within 2 days. Not as though we threw some things into an envelope and shipped off via Media Mail. The intended recipient closed the Emmaus post office box today (March 31, 2010).

This is another consumer complaint against USPS. I want to start off by saying that the USPS customer service is a joke, because they treat people like crap and don't show any moral empathy, only apathy! If any mail or package is lost, broken, or stolen, good luck with that one, because if it is lost, it goes to the Atlanta recovery center, which is actually an auction center, not a recovery center.

Only about 40% gets recovered and sent back; the rest gets sold, and guess where the money goes? Did you know that there is only one "Recovery Center" in our whole Nation? What? I think this is all a scam, and this needs to stop!

OK, I will tell you a little about my USPS story. I sent five boxes to my self, because I was transitioning to an out-of-state school, and go figure, the box that ended up missing is the one I really need, because it had all my info, including birth certificate, other goal-achieved certificates, social security card, all my receipts, and just about every personal information I have was in the box, including very important art work too and random stuff as well.

I was going to put insurance on it, and the representative behind the counter said I shouldn't do that due to theft. "if the package has insurance, then it will look like it is very important and expensive too. So it has more of a chance getting stolen," she said. I am a student and have no money to spend at all, and it does cost a lot of money to send packages, especially if it is first class which I couldn't afford. So with or without insurance, I was screwed!

I got a letter in the mail from the Atlanta Recovery center, and I tell you what, it was very hard to get their contact number! I went on the website, and it was an auction site, not a recovery center site. I smelled scam! I finally achieved my goal and got a number with hours lost due to talking to the rudest people ever, and I am serious; they are very rude, you know, how you can get a confirmation number and that is if you pay for it?

Well I got one, and it didn't help, period, because the system saw the package still in transition, but yet Atlanta sent a letter saying we got a damaged package and that "we need info about the box and what was in it." It seemed like I was the only one who knew that my important box was in Atlanta getting prepared to be auctioned out. The USPS representatives I talked to before I got a hold of the Atlanta site actually said, "You don't know what you are talking about. You should get the package soon." And this is one of the nicer comments I got. I had a lady mocking me like a broken parrot, and she wouldn't give me her name at all when I asked for it.

I also got hung up on. "Sir, I can't give you any info about Atlanta." Then click! I will admit that I was real frustrated when talking to these people, because no one would listen to me or give me correct info, but I didn't deserve to be treated like that.

You know I could go on and on with my story, but what good does that do? I can complain and complain, but what does that do? Nothing at all! I have read so many complaints about the USPS, not only to feel like I am not alone on this but also to listen to people's feelings about what they have lost or had broken.

USPS does not care for packages at all and just throw them around like it was trash or something. I sent stuff out through the USPS a lot and always get bent or messed up-looking boxes. This is what I mean by no empathy. They have no respect, no empathy, and no customer service skills (maybe the cashiers do); and I think it is about time we do something about this problem.

I know for a fact that it is real hard to get your point across by your self, but If we all get together, my friends, and sue them to make a point, not to gain money or anything, but make a point with action, then maybe we can create a better system for the people. I know my box is long gone, but if I can help out people before they turn into a victim, then that is rewarding enough for me.

We should protest on a certain day in front of that business, sue them for messing up not only people's private belongings but also people's lives! For an example, all my personal info could be in the hands of someone who steals identities! Your identity can be stolen as well, and not to mention the work that is involved with getting your identity protected takes so much work. It is not even funny.

We invest in certain companies that either need to wake up or need to be taken off the market and let another company take over who can fulfill their job and have integrity for who they are. This is very important to have integrity for who you are and the company that you have or work for. If not then this is where things fail, brake, gets lost, or stolen, or even worse!

Well, this is my story and complaint against USPS, and I still think we need to do something and we should get together as a community and change this, not only change USPS but companies like USPS. Or even better, let's change the face of the corporate companies that ruin our economy! It is up to us to change things for the better, for our children, for the future, and for your self. Let's be a community and unite to be strong, to make a strong economy. Writing letters to communicate like I am doing goes only so far.

USPS failed to deliver a Priority Mail package, sent with delivery confirmation. After a month they still can't track it down and admit no responsibility whatsoever. They have not been proactive in the slightest in trying to resolve the problem. Unfortunately, I didn't purchase insurance. Evidently USPS can lose packages or have them stolen and they have no responsibility whatsoever.

On Tuesday, February 16th, I went to the Algonquin Post Office to ascertain why I had not received any mail the previous week. When I arrived, I was informed that my mail had been held at the discretion of the postal carrier because my mailbox was full. I informed the clerk that the mailbox had been emptied on February 5th and that no mail was delivered the entire week between February 8th and the 13th. This was problematic as I was expecting an insurance check, additional tax information need to file my 2009 taxes and a small parcel from Amazon.com. I then asked the clerk for the held mail and you can imagine my dismay when the response was "I don't know where it is, it's under someone's desk. You'll have to call back tomorrow".

I have two serious concerns here: (1) If the APO empowers their employees with the discretionary authority to withhold delivery, shouldn't common courtesy and hopefully postal regulations, dictate that the postal patron be notified? (2) The totally inappropriate response from the clerk that indicated a very haphazard approach to handling mail. Do they legally have the right to hold my mail without my consent and without notifying me? As of today, March 30th, the same thing has happened again.

I seriously question whether I have been given all my mail and whether or not it will be entirely delivered in the future. I am angered and disappointed by the actions of the APO employees. I am requesting that you investigate this problem and contact me with the conclusion. I would also appreciate you check on any additional mail that is being held without my consent. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter and I look forward to your prompt response. I am denied my right as an American citizen to receive my mail.

I sent my brother 4 audio CDs and 4 issues of Guitar Player magazine for his birthday via USPS, using only delivery confirmation (not package insurance) for the service. I personally delivered the package for shipping to my local USPS office (Narberth, PA, 19072), and the package was addressed to my brother's PO box at the Hershey, PA USPS Office (17033), so the package was never out of the care of USPS. He emailed me to let me know that his package had been opened when he received it and to confirm whether the birthday gift consisted of only one magazine issue.

This means that someone in the USPS system between Narberth and Hershey stole my brother's 4 CDs, 3 issues of Guitar Player magazine, and his birthday card! I would estimate the total value of the stolen goods to be in the area of $50 (not including shipping and handling, ha ha). More importantly, I am upset that my brother will not be getting his birthday gift on time, and I feel as though my privacy and trust in USPS' service has been violated. I will not be using their services again.

I placed a "hold mail" on my mail on March 11, 2010 because my mailbox key did not work. I was told it may take about ten days until someone could come out and re-key my box. I indicated that I would pick up my mail at the post office until my box was re-keyed. When I went to the post office on Friday, March 26, Thales (counter person) told me that I had "no mail."

I went to the post office on Saturday, March 27, spoke with Thales again, who said I had "no mail" again, and Thales gave me the carrier supervisor's name and number (Jacky-561-799-4068) and told me to contact her regarding this. I went back to the post office today, March 29, and a different person (counter person) whose name is Mary told me that I had "no mail." I told Mary (counter person) that I spoke with another person named Mary on Saturday, March 27 regarding this, and after giving Mary (person I spoke with over the phone on March 27) my name, address, home and cell phone numbers, I never heard from Jacky (supervisor of carriers).

Mary (counter person) told me that the Mary I spoke with on Saturday was right in the lobby, but in the meantime, Mary (counter person) would submit a note to investigate where my mail was (to the carrier). Mary also said that perhaps my carrier was on vacation and another carrier put my mail in the mailbox, where I cannot get it, since I am still waiting for my my mailbox to be re-keyed for 3 weeks now! After Mary (counter person) finished helping me, I spoke with the Mary that I spoke with over the phone on Saturday, March 27, and reminded Mary about my phone call on Saturday, and told Mary that Jacky (carrier supervisor) never called me.

Mary was not very receptive toward my speaking with her, which I did in a very courteous manner, and all she could say was, "Jacky never called you?" to which I replied, "No, she didn't" at which point Mary "assured me that Jacky would call me" to prompt me to leave. I am certain that I have mail sitting in my locked mailbox, and I want someone to go into my mailbox, retrieve my mail, and bring it back to the post office!

The Palm Beach Gardens Post Office leaves much to be desired with their treatment of me! I called the post office today, March 29, 2010 (after waiting in line for quite a while! ) and asked to speak with whomever was in charge of the post office to be told by some clerk that the person in charge "is away on vacation" so I asked for the next in charge, and was put on hold for 35 minutes, and nobody ever picked up my call!

I would like to know, if this is the way the post office normally conducts business, because if it is, I may write to my local paper and describe this entire matter to them, and expose the post office for the lack of service it provides! I would appreciate a response and a resolution to my problem. I am certain that I have bills sitting in my locked mailbox, in addition to some important mail that I have been waiting for, and I need my mail today!

The clerk, identified only as clerk 10 on the receipt, immediately said "yes". After which, I sent the mentioned $50 money order to Hongkong via registered mail, service worth $11.50 only to find out later that the money order is not negotiable in Hongkong. When I went back to post office, I was told by one of the clerks that I should have checked the receipt which indicates "postal money order to japan." The receipt was printed after an error was made so why would I be responsible simply because I overlooked what was printed on the receipt.

Furthermore, it would be unthinkable on my part to to say Japan instead of Hongkong since the two are definitely distinguishable with totally different sounding names. The clerk must have mistaken Hongkong as part of Japan. When I suggested to the manager that the post office should conspicuously post a notice indicating the list of countries accepting international postal money orders, the manager simply said, "We already have a lot of signs and notices here." Also, the US Postal Service should print on the face or back of the postal money order itself the list of countries which accepts postal money order to prevent such error from happening again.

The customer service agent said they would escalate the issue and I would receive a call back within 48 hours.

I called the local office to find out if they could help. I received the same answer. Someone would call back in 48 hours. On the 25th of March, I checked my mail to find one piece of mail dated Mar 22nd. I filed a complaint at the USPS website also. Today, Mar. 27, I called the customer service line again and spoke to a supervisor. Someone closed my case stating I spoke to someone at the local office. I had not spoken to anyone who could resolve this issue. The clerk who answered at the local office said, "I'm just a clerk. I can't help you. Call back at 8am."

My apartment is not vacant. I've lived here since June 2009. My mail was not backed up, therefore, there is no reason I can think of for the mailman to assume my apartment is vacant. I work 8am - 5pm, Monday through Friday. When am I supposed to be able to find my mailman and speak to him? What gives him the right to decide how often I am supposed to pick up my mail? Today is Saturday, March 27, and still no call from the post office offering a resolution. I was expecting some important mail. I am assuming the postal carrier returned my mail to the sender. How do I know what I missed? How do I get what I missed back? Customer service cannot answer that question.

I was expecting a statement also, only to find out the mailman has assumed my apartment is vacant. The statements are very important because the landlord is now trying to collect the rent, as well as the bank. I need to know what my landlord claims I owe (which is nothing since I paid the bank). Without having the package in hand, he informed me that the address was incorrect. I explained to him that the address was confirmed with the vendor and it is, in fact, correct. He began to argue and speak over me without giving me the chance to explain the situation.

He then informed me that the package was returned to the sender. I asked why would there not be a second attempt especially if the address was indeed correct, but he had no answer and just continued repeating that the package was returned. I asked to speak with the manager and he informed me that he was the manager and there was no one else that I could speak with. I asked for the name of the mail carrier that handles the route where I reside and he rudely told me "Linda". I asked for her last name so that a formal complaint may be issued and he told me he would not give me her last name and hung up on me.

This package was a gift that was to be given to the recipient before April 2nd. The delivery was guaranteed by the vendor between March 23 and March 31. Now that the package was returned to the sendor, I would have to wait an additional two weeks for the return to be processed/credit issued, and I would have to place another order but it would not be delivered in time.

Being a business, we have a labeled box at the end of our drive for our whole building. Some units are even empty. Well, sometimes the Manager of the building has found our mail in the empty units boxes (checks even). We always get the wrong mail. Now, for the second time in a few months, our payroll is missing.

Yes, I have called the postmaster, who is never available, and told someone what is going on. Never gets better. Next, I sent a package from my local post office certified and with return receipt. I didn't get my return receipt.

After 2 months of a run around, still nothing. At this point, I just want my $2.30 back for the service that wasn't provided. What is the problem with that? We are a small business trying to make a living and I have had to waste more time fight with the post office than anyone else. Someone needs to look at carriers better or something. Plus they do not take our outgoing mail on a regular basis. They drive around here on their cell phone not paying attention to what they are doing and another one is so grumpy I thought he was gonna bite my head off one day. I really hope this gets someones attention. Very poor customer service! My company is out some money for my time and what I spent on services that I didn't receive from the USPS. For the past 2-1/2 years, I have multiple times called Post Office to complain about getting other people’s mail on our residence that had other local street addresses, clearly being delivered to wrong street address. This is still happening frequently as much as 3-4 times a week. I called and complained of not receiving my mails from Social Security office that they said I didn't respond to a recent mailing that was important to return back by certain date and the piece of mail was sent out 5 weeks earlier.

I was then panicking and in fear that somebody else had received it when I was informed by Social Security of such mail material. I constantly would and still do take mails back to counter at Post Office and tell the clerk where I lived and point out the person’s name and address where it should had been delivered. Also, I have constantly had other residents in Los Alamos area bring my mail that was delivered to their homes from across town. I have in this 2-1/2 years moved twice and changed my address each time, but this has happened and continue to happen at all residents in Los Alamos.

Regardless where I live or how many times I move I should not receive other label addressed mail or have my mail go to the wrong address and later be delivered to me by another Los Alamos resident, or informed they received it but returned it back to the Post Office. I recently had received people’s tax W-2's from their employers from many different states: Utah, Kentucky, and Georgia. New York and Tennessee also mail for out of country that should have went to Mexico and Sweden, and I took them back to Post Office complaining of the problem once again, and now with out-of-state mails and out-of-country mails coming to my residence.

I also called the Post Office on another matter that a few companies sending me bills owed for products that I had not received was now threatening me with collections for things they claimed they sent in mail. So explaining this to the man that answered the phone at Los Alamos Post Office, I believe he said his name was Carlos. Recently he apologized and checked to see if it may have been placed on hold for delivery or placed on hold to return to company that may have sent it. I told him that these companies are claiming dated back as far as I have been informed dated material as of July last year 2009. He stated there has been a big problem with delivery of the mail that they did not know or could not explain why there was this problem but he assured me that the Postal service was looking into this matter as we spoke.

On February 4, 2010 a woman came to my house stating she had been out of country the past 6 months and the person who looked after her home and personal mail had received some letter mails and 7 packages in late January that was addressed to me and she had dropped them off at the Post Office to be delivered to the correct address. She said because of the problem she was aware of with the Post Office delivery service, she decided to stop by my home and inform me that the housekeeper had returned items to the Post Office back in late January and dropped them off to be delivered to the correct address.

After her house sitter told her what address she believed the packages and letter mails had on them, she decided to stop by and check to see if I was expecting any packages and had I received them and explained how they were left at her home and her housekeeper’s decision to return them to the Post Office. So I immediately thanked her and called the Post Office for them to once again check and state they had no packages for me that he could recall and tried to say maybe it was because of my recent address change, but at this time it’s February and I’ve changed address last September, beginning of October, but he continued. He was sure the packages could be with the postal worker for delivery and that he would speak with the postal worker for my mail route and solve this matter if possible. He stated if the post worker didn't have the packages, that it was possible they were sent back to the companies that actually sent them and I needed to, after a week, call the companies to confirm they received the items.

I am not sure myself who sent them, but had for months been expecting items from a few different companies that claimed they had sent out some time back. In mid-November 2009, I also had a man bring me 4 packages from 1 company and this man said they were delivered that morning to his home once again from the other side of town. I immediately took them to post and refused them, stating I was tired of how the Post Office was delivering my mail to wrong addresses and explained how a man just brought them to me that had been delivered to his home that day and I stated the packages never had been opened after the clerk had said something about checking to see if I had to pay any return postage or not because I wanted them immediately returned to sender.

I refused I was reliable for any wrong delivery and I stomped out of the Post Office mad because the stress that the services I am receiving here in Los Alamos is causing so much stress on me. I am just wondering if between the packages the man brought to me and any of the packages the woman said her housekeeper returned was the same pieces of mail floating around USA for delivery or return to senders. What if a piece of mail important with my private identity or SSN, birth date, banking information, etc., was to be delivered into the wrong hands? I just wanted to add that I have received some packages and mail okay, but all packages these companies say they sent have not come to my address.

I am being threatened of being turned over to collections of mail notices and packages of unpaid merchandise I never received and they (companies) claim they have not received back. I’m stressed out to the point that is risking my health conditions and worsen my health because I haven't received many things (mail or packages) or even know what has actually been sent out to me that I haven’t received because I don't know what should be expected, but only know what these companies swear they had been sent. I’m not sure if any of these companies could also be taking advantage of me because of multiple conversations telling them I haven't received anything, or certain item they claim they sent, after I have repeatedly explained the problem with the mail delivery in my area and just claiming they sent mail or packages that they really may not have.

My credit is at risk if I can't find a way to resolve this mail problem and find out what went where or actually been returned. My health has worsened from the worry of the problems accrued with mail. Blood pressure is out of control to high numbers that can result in heart attack/stroke, or even death. I feel the Postal Service is responsible for the stress and the threats these companies are making towards me.

I went to the office on 03/23/10 and a guy in the front didn't want to help me, his last name is Garcia. He was rude and said he was going to believe the system not me because the item was delivered, not in my zip code, but it was delivered. That same day, I filled another 2 reports. There was a dog hold on my address due to my neighbor's dog (I live in a duplex). I was unaware of the hold because the mail man delivering would continue to deliver to my house. According to the manager, Laura, he was not supposed to be delivering to anyone on the premises at all, but he continued delivering to me. In the middle of February, I stopped getting mail completely which is why I went to the post office to inquire. They told me due to my neighbor’s dog, I was no longer getting mail and that they had sent out letters notifying me. I never received a letter because the mail men delivering to my house were inconsistent about holding my mail, and delivering. So the one day they decided to hold the mail, is the day the letter was sent out. I spoke with the manager and she said she would give me ten days to deal with the problem otherwise get a PO Box within those ten days.

So I went home, spoke with the landlord and they demanded the dog be gone from my neighbor's premises. Before the 10 days were up, I went back to the post office to notify the dog was gone and spoke with a supervisor on a Saturday. He told me that they would resume my mail the coming Monday and to disregard getting a PO Box. That coming Monday nothing came, so I gave it two days, still nothing. A few days I finally went back, spoke with another supervisor who told me they needed in writing that the dog was gone. And I asked if any of my mail was being sent back because there are very important documents coming in, and the supervisor clearly said no. He also said to bring the letter during the week when Laura, the manager is there. So I got the letter together, had my neighbor sign it and we both went to the office to drop it off. Just our luck, Laura was in a meeting so I left the letter with an employee to give to her along with a phone number. The latter stated the dog was gone and also that the residents would be leaving at the end of the month anyways.

I figured they would hold my mail until the end of the month or someone would come and verify the dog was gone. I never heard back from anyone so a few days later, which is today. I went back to inquire once again and to also pick up mail, and they tell me I have no mail that it has been sent back. Finally, I speak with Laura who tells me she sent back my mail because I didn't get a PO Box. And I explained to her how a supervisor said it was no longer necessary, and how I had been cooperating and doing what I had been told to do, so that my mail wouldn't be sent back. She was completely unaware of anything due to lack of communication from them and she also claims she never got a letter, but her employee claims he did hand it to her the day I went. She just probably cared less to read it. She stated that I should have only went by the instructions she gave me when we first talked but how was I supposed to know a supervisor does not have the authority to instruct me with such things if he was so willing to do so numerous times.

I went in several times, kept everyone updated including supervisors and never got a PO Box because I was told I no longer had too since the dog was gone. Not once did anyone come to verify the dog was gone or to inform me of anything! How can they tell a mail man not to deliver mail but deliver a letter after an incident with a dog, it does not make sense. Someone should have came from the post office to inform me there was a problem in the first place and someone should have came to verify the dog was gone when I first told them it was gone. Apparently, they were sending back mail only sometimes due to the lack of communication. So when I was under the impression they were holding all my mail that was not the case. Important letter and checks were missing.

When I went today to talk to Laura, she was unaware of everything. Even that I had ever came in at all or my letter and she also seemed very careless about my situation. I tried hard to keep my cool and I did for the majority of our conversation, but by the end I became heated when I asked her so what do I do and all she said was "well call the people whose letters you need and get a PO Box.” That was her only solution. She admitted to the fact they had made a mistake due to lack of communication within the office, and yet, she seemed carefree and was not willing to provide me with any help. After all the times I went in to talk to someone and verify my mail wasn’t being sent back or to verify I was doing all the right things, this still happened and I feel I am being punished when in reality I should not be. If I hadn’t been told not to get a PO Box, I would have gotten one. I was willing to do so.

They left a note saying they would re-deliver on Mar 18, 2010. This is an apt complex with a manned office, where packages are usually left. My son left a note on the apt door stating to please deliver to the office. There was no delivery. Today, March 24, 2010, I received the package back. I have important mail coming to me from Disability.

Since my stroke, I have applied for public assistance and have not received any correspondence. I spoke to my case worker in which I was informed that my mail was returned to sender. Now, mind you, my correct address is on file. I applied for unemployment and received no mail. I made contact with unemployment and they also informed me that the mail was sent out and returned. It has gotten to the place where I have to use my brother's address just to get my mail.

My food stamp card was issued three times, was sent to my address and then, was returned to sender. I only received a card using my brother's address. On 3/11/10, I sent a certified letter. On Tuesday, 3/23/10, I received a call from the person in which I sent the certified letter to. The person informed me that they had forwarded the information I requested.

I requested the person to forward the mail to my brother's address. On Wednesday, 3/24/10, I went to 119 St. Gratigny Post Office and requested the certified letter to be tracked. I was informed that the item was delivered on 3/12/10. I then spoke to area manager Ariel ** about my issues with my mail and why I haven't received my receipt of the item being delivered. Ariel stated, "Well, I hope it's on the way." I have emailed the post office and made some inquiries. I do not know what else to do. I never thought anything could happen like this. They show delivered online and I called only to have it tracked down and they actually called him (twice) where he said "he didn't realize the package was in his truck".

I've taken hands full of neighbors mail up to talk to the person in charge but nothing has been done for seven years. I had my attorney called to see if I received the papers for my divorce this Friday. Of course Not. I even had an overnight package disappear and the post office said I have to track it down myself by calling the sender. They couldn't help me. I know we live in a small growing lake town, but please. Missed court dates because I didn't receive the paper work. Having to pay for second copies of information to be mailed. The above information is not true. I am home all day. No one rang my door bell and if they don't ring the bell, how is an attempt made? I'm on the third floor. If the bell isn't rung, how do I know the package is here? This is the second time this has happened. Only this time a notice wasn't even left. I have submitted two redelivery forms. One for 3/23 and one for 3/24. Nothing came on the 23rd. I called and was told to call main post office on the 24th, which I did between 8-9 am (800)275-8777. I was told because I didn't have a missed you notice, my package might not be redelivered. So, now I'm being held responsible for the postman not doing his job.

Whoever placed the attempt to deliver information, lied. No attempt was made. And now I have to just sit here and hope I get what I have paid for. This is outrageous. The person I spoke to about this gave me no assurance whatsoever. From now on I'm going to try and make sure my packages are delivered by another source. If I don't get my item today, I am going to call tomorrow and a complaint will be filed. I don't believe one word of it. If someone can lie about making a delivery and leaving a notice so I will just financially be out of what I paid for the item. Since this is the second time this has occurred, I felt the need to put my own complaint in. Thank You.

We have not received mail since 3/10/10. After about 4 days of not getting any mail to our mail box, we decided to go to the local post office on 3/15. Oscar went to the post office to find out what was going on as we were waiting for very important documents that had been mailed already. He was helped by a clerk name Julie who was very rude and kept on talking over me. This including talking to the clerk next to her in another language. He was told that we had no mail because our box was full. She also told him that Raquel needed to go get her mail herself. She was very firm and in a diminor tone she told me that they would not deliver mail until all the mail had been picked up.

On 3/16/10, I myself, took the time off work to go to the post office to get my mail. When I arrived I was also assisted by the clerk named Julie who was also very rude to me. I told her that we had been out for a couple of days and that was the reason why the box was full, that we were very sorry for the inconvenience. She was very short and did not care much for my apology. She went to get 2 pieces of mail and I asked if they would now please deliver the mail to my mailbox. She said no, that we still had mail to be picked up. I asked what mail and she said Ricardo **. I told her that was my son and if she would please give it to me. She said, "No. Hoe do I know he is your son?" I explained to her that my son was in school and she said, "Well, bring something to show he is your son."

As I did not have anything with me to prove he is my son, I had to leave. At that point, before I left I asked if that was the only person that needed to pick up mail and she said yes. I asked again if they would now deliver mail. She said, "No, not until you pick everything up. And call the supervisor". She gave me the telephone number and I was told to call before 7:30 the next morning."

I asked my Dad to take my son after school to pick up his mail. When my son went to the post office, he got one piece of mail for him and one for me. He also asked if there was anything else. He was told that there was mail for Angela and Andrew. He asked if he could please have that mail. They told him no. Andrew and Angela are my other kids. As you can see, I don't understand why Julie would not tell me that there was mail for Andrew who is 12 yrs old and Angela who is 4 yrs old.

Oscar went again on 3/17 to pick up the mail for Andrew and Angela. At that point, they told him we would now receive our mail. We continued to not get mail until today 3/23/10. We call today at 7:00 am to ask if they would please deliver our mail. They said we should be able to get the mail today and to check. We did finally get mail but 2 pieces of mail. My frustration is that now, all my past mail for over 10 days has been lost or returned. I have no utility bills among our other mail.

My frustration is the treatment my entire family and I received from the postal workers. I felt very humiliated when I went to the post office and in front of all the other customers, I was treated like that by Julie. How she kept on talking in another language made me very upset as I felt that she was talking about me. I understand we made a mistake by not getting our mail out of the box for a couple of days and it was due to a medical emergency. I had to explain that to her in front of other people which I did not appreciate. I am a working person and pay taxes and don't believe that I deserved the way we have been treated, specially after doing everything they told me to do, going numerous times to the post office, calling before 7:30am. Everything they asked us to do, we did.

We did not get any of our bills, Now, we will probably be late and have to pay late fees. I had to take 2 hours off work to go to the post office. They open at 9:00 and I work in Long Beach. My fiance's EDD checks were lost. That was the biggest economic damage as he did not get the checks and we need his income to survive with our daily life. He also lost very important documents that he confirmed with EDD that was mailed last week on 3/17/10.

In December of 2008, I sent a watch to Switzerland, tracking #CP170902490US. I emailed the receiver of the watch. He never received it, but was notified, from the Swiss, it was damaged. He emailed me back. I called the Postal service in January. They agreed it was damaged through tracking and assured me I would need to file a claim. This is now March, not only have I not received a claim form but now I must go through the process all over again. I was told, today, the claim was dated and had to call back in 4 hours so she could look it up.

Today, March 17th, I spent almost a day on the phone trying to collect my money from the postal company. That was only the beginning. First, they must sent me a new form, which according to the postal service, may take another 5 days to receive. Then I must fill it out and send it to St. Louis which could take another 5 days to process. Then they review it and will pay the claim. Everyone I spoke to admits the item was damaged. Why must I go through this going on almost 5 months when the postal service has a tracking # and knows the item is damaged?

I do not have the item, I do not have the money, I do not know when I'll recover my insurance money which I paid for in the event of this problem. I am beyond myself with the incompetence of our government service, not for free either. I may be delayed in getting the money. Sometimes, you can expect delay but outright stupidity of federal employees who say they will do something and you never hear from again. When you hang up you are totally forgotten.

This resolved me of two things: 1) I will never use the US Postal Service to mail an item again. 2) This has also convinced me that the government has no business running our healthcare. Our government should strictly defend its people and get the ** out of every business they are in. I was in the Marine Corps 4 years. I love my country but this incident truly makes me hate government-run businesses. Does FedEx or UPS handle their people the same way? I don't think so, they can fire their help, they want customers!

I'm lodging a complaint about the Porter Square Post office in Cambridge, MA and the postal workers there. I want it looked into. On more than 3 occasions, I was mailed either packages or letters to my PO Box at zip code 02140 that were not delivered to me. In cases such as letters which were clearly addressed, they were returned to sender. In cases of packages, they were also precisely addressed to me and with tracking numbers.

With regards to the packages, it is a situation where the postal system or worker there is scanning them in that they are received. However, the worker(s) are : (A) Not putting notice in my mailbox to inform me a package has been sent.

    (B) Writing such things as: "Customer not available". "Business closed" on the same day they receive the package. (C) Returning to sender saying, "No such person at this address.” This is unacceptable and I feel it is tantamount to the act of tampering with the U.S. mail and on the part of which every postal worker(s) there wishing to sabotage my right to receive mail delivered there.

Prior, I had a situation where I had gone there asking where my package was and had gone in there with the tracking code from the company that sent it. A particular postal worker there told me: "The company must have not sent it given that they "had no record" of it being received at the post office. On 3 occasions, I went back to the post office telling them the company had indeed sent the package. Ostensibly, they "looked for it", but it "was not there".

About 1 month down the road, still not getting the package and with no help from the postal workers other than to tell me; 'It was not received there', the company sent me proof that the package was delivered there shortly after they sent it and the post office scanned in this delivery. It turned out that the package was delivered, yet not only did the workers there fail to give notice after they scanned it when they got, but they also denied a package was there. At that point, I asked them: "Did you even look for a physical package?"

It turned out they did not even look for a package and they only actually looked for it after my having to insist they do so. Prior, they were just telling me that a tracking number did "not mean the package was sent by the sender" and all they did was look to see if there was a tracking number. On another occasion, another package was sent to me by sender and I was waiting in line. The postal worker who I had confronted prior saw me waiting in line and saw it was my turn to have him as the worker. At that point, he retreated into the back room.

Another postal worker noted it was odd he did that. Yes, indeed, it was odd even to the other postal worker that he would retreat into the back room when I was next in line and for him to attend. She told me I needed to lodge a complaint and gave me the number of someone in charge (but I misplaced the number) as there was no reason for that kind of behavior on his part. The other postal worker did find my package. However, this was a case where the package had to be redelivered to me because the first attempt was "return to sender".

Today on 16 March, after trying again to find out 'what happened' to a package that I knew the company had delivered (I know because I have been doing business with this company for the past 20 years and they are prompt to put in delivery!). Yet again, I was told by a postal worker that 'It may not have been delivered'. I asked her to check and she said: 'No package found'. I called the company (Puritan's Pride Vitamins).

They: (A) gave me the tracking number; (B) confirmed they mailed the package on 4 March and it was delivered to Porter Square office on 8 March; (C) said the package was scanned at 9:30 am on 8 March; (D) the postal worker who scanned it wrote: "Customer Not Available", "Business Closed". (That was done instead of putting notice in my PO Box that my package was delivered!); (E) Another note was written: "Contact local Post Office for redelivery. If not within 15 days, package will be returned to sender". I later went in a few minutes past closing and approached the particular worker with whom similar problems were coincident with prior. I demanded an explanation as to why this happens frequently and under circumstances where his behavior was both ODD and inappropriate in other circumstances. He told me that I was "irate".

Well, of course, I'm going to be "irate" when, on many occasions, I find that my ability to receive mail is being sabotaged in this way. I shall note again that this is the particular worker who on prior occasion failed to do a physical check for a package that was indeed delivered to me and instead told me that 'all a tracking number meant was the company sent notice, but did not mean they actually shipped it' and by doing so, for one month, prevented me from getting a package that was indeed delivered there. It took some time to get the verification that it was delivered and scanned. It was also the same worker, who upon seeing I was his next customer (on another occasion), retreated into the back room which also seemed odd to another postal worker (who told me to lodge a complaint against him).

I wish to know why soon after a package is delivered to me and scanned by the post office (worker/s), an electronic message is sent via the Post Office in Porter Square that they "attempted" to deliver my item. In this particular case, a package was received at 9:50 am on 8 March and in the same minute classified the delivery as "attempted". How is it that a package delivered and scanned is assessed as an "attempted" delivery. Fact of the matter seems to be it was delivered, but a postal worker classified it as an "attempted" deliver. Furthermore, the company who sent the package informed me that the notice they got was: "Customer not available", "Business closed". Could it be that if I am not in the post office, the minute my package arrives, a postal worker there opts to classify the package as "attempted delivery"?

Could it be that doing so is easier for a postal worker to do rather than noting the package was delivered and putting notice in my box that such occurred and also holding it for me. Also, the tracking information says: "Notice was left" (to me) of such an attempted delivery. I never got any "notice" of these "attempted" deliveries. Case in point, an "attempted" delivery on 8 March at 9: 50 am. What's happening is that the postal workers are receiving my packages and claiming an "attempted delivery" the same minute they receive them!

Yet no notice is given to me of this even when I alert them that a package was sent to me. The situation resolves to my having to wait a long time only to find my package was indeed received there, yet the postal worker opted to classify as "attempted" delivery furthered by entering the 'reason' as "Customer Not Available" and "Business Closed".

The situation seems to be one where a postal worker (who perhaps does not like me), has some 'leeway' to 'loop' my packages through the system so that not only do I not receive them, but also, I get no notice of any "attempted delivery" even after inquiring about an expected package. I find it unacceptable that postal workers at that office, despite actually scanning that a package was indeed received there, persist in telling me they 'have no record' of it being delivered, or don't even physically look to see if it's in the storage room.

I feel this veers on being tantamount on tampering with the US mail as to obstruct delivery of items delivered to me and to deny delivery. It's wrong. The system should not be one where they have the liberty to sabotage delivery of mail to me. In essence, whichever postal worker is doing that to my mail is doing it because 'he can' as there is some opportunity for him to get away with not putting notice in my box after a package was scanned for arriving there. I am requesting that you look into this situation as I wish to close the option of whatever 'leeway' your postal worker(s) have with regard to doing this sort of thing on numerable occasions

Both packages had been opened and the contents replaced with something else of no value. They were marked as "Received Opened". I spoke to the postal service that I shipped from and they simply gave me a form and said that they really couldn't do anything about it. I am very upset that my mail did not arrive intact. There must be some sort of responsibility the postal services have at making sure packages aren't opened, isn't there? Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

I find it extremely dumb that just because you don't feel like getting tracking on a package, that the post office can just randomly lose it at any given time and you're basically screwed. In my case, I don't know whether or not it's actually lost or if the person I'm sending it to is just being dishonest and trying to rip me off so they can "get their cake and eat it too."

I shipped two similar packages in the same week from the same post office, via the same shipping method both without tracking and those things arrived at their destinations with no problems. Just doesn't make sense. The only logical explanation would be that either the post office screwed up (shocking) or the receiver of the package is a liar. Right? Lesson learned. Never ship anything from the post office without getting conformation and tracking.

First, they stop us from getting our mail at 7 am; then they would not let us pick up at the back door any more. Then, they would not let us drop off our mightily mail at the back door any more, so we must go inside to pick up and drop off mail. We paid over a $1000 a year for caller service to get our mail early, and early is not 8 am in the morning. What is going on? Is there anyone above the Post Master to talk to? I have a few names and want to start here first. I look forward to hearing from you. This puts our service behind in sorting and delivering our mail to our internal customers.

I have an internet business and I ship my product in a 9"x 7" bubble pack via US Postal Service first class mail. Over the last 12 months, we have had over 93 packages out of over 1000 (almost 10%) not delivered and not one has come back to us. This is over $2000.00 worth of merchandise lost. I complained many times with the postmaster of our post office and she just stated she can't do anything and that I should spend an additional $.80 per package to have them certified. This isn't acceptable. I can see losing a couple of shipments out of the 1000 we sent, but not 10%.

I have also just read many other complaints by others having the same trouble with the postal service. What in the world is going on? How can these packages just disappear? Where do they go? Does the mail carrier just toss them in the trash? If they can't deliver them, first class mail is supposed to be returned to the sender. I am ashamed that our postal service has gotten in this condition. It is a tragic and sad state of affairs. The lost packages have cost me return business from my customers and a loss of over $2000.00 in product. I am also going to have to raise our prices to cover the orders being shipped by UPS or FedEx. I feel this will move my price point out of reach with many of my potential customers.

I have had an ongoing problem with mail delivery through USPS since I first moved to my current residence. It started with failure to deliver a social security check, and for almost two years since, I have had ongoing delivery problems.

I have a regular priority mail delivery that comes at least once a month, and long ago, I already complained to the Ombudsman, local postmaster and the local supervisor with a conference call set up by Mr. W at our local consumer affairs. Mr. W leads off his efforts with the warning that there is nothing he can actually do to enforce anything, so we have rely on the supervisor's good will to accomplish anything. Well, nothing was accomplished.

My last monthly shipment that was delivered by Priority Mail to me is a good example of what is now happening. The delivery was late in arriving by several days, so I called the supplying company to get a tracking number, and as usual, it said there was an attempt to deliver and notice left. Neither of these things is true. I am house bound with disabilities; almost never leave my apartment. I cannot drive, so I am here. There was no notice left in my mail box saying there was an attempt to deliver. I get this information from the Track and Confirm Service at the USPS website, after the shipping company has provided me with a tracking number.

So, I reschedule a delivery for the next business day, by calling the 800 number for USPS, and also make a complaint for there not actually being an attempt to deliver, or notice left. On the rescheduled delivery date, the same thing happens. The Track and Confirm information at the USPS website says the carrier attempted to deliver, and left a notice but neither is the case.

So, I reschedule a delivery date, and lodge another complaint. Same thing happens again. In fact, I had to reschedule three times, with a complaint attached to each time I rescheduled a delivery.

Most recently I stopped using the company I was ordering from and switched to a different company that provides me with a tracking number via email, the moment they ship my goods. Under this new arrangement, I don't have to wait a few days to give USPS time to show that they are not going to deliver. I can see what is happening right away.

Well, the same thing happened today, and I have had to reschedule a Priority Mail delivery, when I encounter the USPS website reporting an attempt to deliver, and notice left, when neither actually occurred.

Having complained so many times to USPS, via every avenue short of a complaint to the Post Master General, I am simply stacking up complaints I have made. I cannot believe that carriers can lie in writing about their delivery activities so many times and get away with it. I can't believe that so many complaints have not caused the supervisor to act, nor the local Post Master. I can't believe that this situation could possibly be allowed to go on for as long as it has.

What I believe at this point is that there is no one at USPS that gives a ** about their job, their integrity, nothing. There is no place to turn for real assistance. The system has failed completely in every way and since it has, there is nothing that can be done to fix it.

I will now use the current shipping situation to advantage because it does give me a tracking number right away, and every time the USPS misses deliveries, and fails to give notice, my complaints will no longer go to USPS individuals on the telephone, but will be made in writing using their website. From that, I intend to collect the information for filing all the failures which will continue.

I can only guess at how many times missed deliveries and complaints by me will end up being recorded, but I am sure it will be a lot, and when it gets to outrageously amazing proportions I may again copy all this information to anyone who might help; the Post Master General, my elected representatives including the White House, the media and certainly it deserves to be broadcast over the Internet. But this is now my goal, short of Consumer Affairs finally making any difference in this situation whatsoever.

These customers do not know each other and one was in VT, 2 others was a few towns away from me in NH and 2 was in MA.

When I called the post office and filed a complaint, someone named Pam called me back. She told me that can happen in the processing process because it is all done by machines. Okay, well then, why isn't there a local place where they send items that appear in their processing centers? These items get shipped to a larger facility in like Texas or something. I wasn't happy, so of course she notes my complaint that I was angry and difficult. I love how they note our complaints with how we react to their mistakes as a knock against us.

Of course, I am frustrated with them. I just lost out of $50 that they are not being accountable for. So the next few times, I complained about more missing items. No one has called to deal with these complaints since my initial complaint. I have lost out on over $200 in products now and have lost total faith in our postal service.

There is a side walk he can use, and there is no reason for him to be standing by my side gate or cutting though my flower beds to get there.

I would appreciate anything you can do to resolve this issue. I would be willing to move my mailbox to the end of my sidewalk, so that they do not have to walk all the way up to the house. The cost of my flowers being walked on is costly. It doesn't do any good to fix it, if they continue to walk on them. I have asked before if they would not cross there. Last year, I reseeded my grass. But I still have a path where they walk everyday to the neighbors, so they don't have to walk a few more steps and go down to the sidewalk and back up to the neighbor's mailbox.

He can drop a trip pack off in any destination Blue Box of the USPS, anywhere in the U.S., and it takes more than 10 days to deliver this mail. Why? I called and spoke with a Consumer Affairs official in Washington, D.C. and she couldn’t have cared less about the problem. This is wrong for a government official to act as a person that is representing the consumer!

All I got out off her was it could be held up in a hub, or something could have delayed the mail. I would like to know what can delay the USPS? Is it we don't care about our jobs? If any person working outside the government treated their job like the USPS is treating consumers, without care of service, then we would all be unemployed. I find this very disturbing and very very unsatisfactory of the USPS, and the Consumer Affairs representative I spoke with, her reply of, “What do you want me to do about it?” Only a question a government employee would say. This is not the first time we have had this problem. We have also had problems with next day delivery not being delivered by noon as offered with that service.

By the negligence of the USPS not performing their service in a timely manner of getting mail delivered, this has caused consequences of not getting paid as I have to rely on the USPS to deliver my trip packs to Omaha, NE within a timely manner. So with this, I live paycheck to paycheck as many Americans do this day and age of the economy. So who is going to get my rent paid and who is going to pay the rest of my bills and child support? And where is my family going to live when we get evicted from the negligence of the U.S. government postal service? I cannot track first class mail, and one can't rely on the USPS for mail delivery. So how are you going to handle the physical damage and mental stress over the lack of drive of the USPS?

This has hurt us as in the past, we have always received our checks on a Friday (no longer) and when they do arrive on a Saturday or Monday, it's after 5PM. This has caused us to be late on our bills and deprived us of having cash on hand for the weekend. I have confirmed with both companies mailing the checks that they are mailed on Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning from within the state of Florida, yet it takes 4-5 days to receive them being mailed first class. The latest they should arrive is 2-3 days per the USPS website.

My mail is being read by the postmaster. This is very sensitive mails like attorney/financial information. My mail is obviously opened and resealed. Today, I got my mail from my post office box and one letter, with my former physical address from an attorney, was delivered with the envelope sealed with two pieces of tape. One piece of tape was cut. The letter was also addressed to my former address.

The postmaster has returned previous mail addressed to this address in the past but it seems odd that this letter from an attorney made it into my mailbox. We live in a very small town and have had personal issues with the postmaster. Numerous complaints have been made by other individuals concerning privacy issues with this man with no consequence. Complaints seem to be swept under the rug.

We moved on January 16, 2010. At that time, I requested for the mail to be forwarded by filling out the online form, and printing it (attempts to complete the forwarding request online were unsuccessful due to my credit card being declined, only at the post office), and putting the request in my outgoing mail box. After a month, I was still getting no mail, and called the sorting office. I spoke to a man whose accent was so thick, that I got little out of the exchange. After two more weeks, I drove down to the facility to see what I could do.

They had my mail. I spoke with the man who I had spoken with previously, and I filled out another change of address form. I did not get my larger packages, and flat mail. Where those items are, is still uncertain. Now when I call the post office facility, they either do not answer the phone, or leave me on hold - at present for over an hour. I am awaiting the check and the CDs I ordered, that are still at the facility, and not returned to the sender, where I could have them resent.

She has done this unilaterally, with no notice whatsoever of wrongdoing of any sort. In fact, she stated that if I didn't put the box where she wanted it, she just wouldn't deliver the mail, and she hasn't. The local postmaster is MIA when I've tried to contact him. I don't know what else to do.

This carrier has hinted that she would retaliate against my mail, if I didn't comply with her demands. I just want my mail delivered to my USPS approved mail receptacle in its USPS approved location, without fear of reprisal by this carrier. That's all. This is what my tax dollars pay for. I apologized that he felt threatened by my dog (that was inside my house and had no possible way of getting to him) and reassured him that she would never have the ability to get out of the house.

He then responded by saying "power on... power on". Since then, I have only received mail once by a substitute mail carrier. Box has been closed." So I finally decided to keep a track of all my mail being "sent back to sender." I would go to my lawyers and pick up the envelopes with the yellow tag that states that my box is closed in bold writing.

Go to my work, in payroll and they would give me my returned W-2 mail, with the same yellow label, "box closed". My immigration appointment letters, also, saying the same thing. I finally went to my post office each time, complaining to the box handler and the supervisor about the situation. All they could tell me each time is that it was not their fault and there was nothing they could do about it.

False adverting. No door-to-door delivery. Lost mail. Undo burden in having to prove you live in the zip code area to be permitted to pick up your own mail. First, the USPS advertises the Express Mail service as delivery to the door. People sending Express Mail to this post office are never told there is no direct to the door delivery yet they are charged for it. Tens of thousands of dollars are wasted annually by consumers using this service as well as Priority Mail.

To get a post office box without charge, a consumer must provide proof of residence which requires unnecessary time and effort. Recently we built a new home. We moved in and because there is no door-to-door delivery, had to go to the post office to register for a box. The clerk would not issue a box without a utility receipt. We were so new to the house we had not yet received a utility bill. The clerk then told us we had to bring in our mortgage documents. I protested and spoke to the Post Master of the branch. He could not tell us the source of the order for this 'official' requirement. He insisted upon the same production of docs.

Further, although a box holder must complete forms with detailed information about the location of their residence including telephone contacts, if mail or packages are sent through the USPS to the physical address of the box holder, the mail/packages are either returned to sender or dumped. The staff refuses to complete a computerized address/box number cross reference to ensure box holders get their mail. It's not that the branch does not have the capability to do the cross reference, they just plain refuse to do it. This costs the residence of this community and other users of the USPS hundreds if not millions of dollars annually in postal charges and lost merchandise.

I was expecting a certified letter with a check for $17,000 in it. On 2/6/10, I asked Mr. L how long it takes for a certified letter to get from Pittsburgh to Emerald Isle. He stated around 3-5 days. On 2/10/10, my cousin mailed the letter. I was out of town that weekend and on President’s Day, I checked my box and no slip was there for pickup. I work 10 hour days, so Thursday, the 18th, was the first chance to check. Jim, at the counter, said there wasn't any letter and asked for a tracking number. He looked it up and said it arrived Friday the 12th, was undeliverable and forwarded. I asked forwarded to where? He said he didn't know. I called my cousin and the only addresses on the letter were hers and mine. There wasn't anywhere to forward the letter to. He said he didn't know without seeing the letter.

The gravity of the situation is this: It took 2 and 1/2 years for my aunt to give us the money my uncle left in his will. Even then, she had to be taken to court to disperse the money. To get her to reissue the check will be next to impossible. I have had this PO Box there since 1996. They know who I am since I get many items delivered to that address. I also have my street address that items come too. It looks like Jim or Tom scanned it at 10:04 as undeliverable and 10:05 forward. No one thought to match the name with the right address even if it scanned different?

How rushed were they? This is a small beach community with less than 2,000 people at this time of year. Someone probably wanted a smoke break and in turn ruined my life. Both of them told me stories when confronted with me asking why it was forwarded. I filed a complaint with the postal service CA 101365201. I also called NC consumer advocate. They tried to call, but the office closes at 1600.

Finally found out what happened through the NC consumer advocate on Tuesday 2/23/10. The letter scanned as PO Box 606 instead of 4606. Even so, they know me and could have held it until they checked with me. A certified letter is more important than a regular letter you would think. The real problem is that instead of scanning "return to sender" it was scanned as "forward". Now who knows where the letter is. I tried to call the Central Forwarding Service markup unit in Charlotte. It's not there, in Atlanta or Minneapolis, not there either.

I called the US Postal Service yesterday and they reissued another complaint. There was a note there that Tom said he talked to the Belle V office and me. So what? Is that the extent of the investigation? I want someone held accountable. I work at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune and take care of marines, sailors and their families. I work in the laboratory and if I did my job the way those two did, there would be a dire outcome. No one cares and is not held accountable. I called US Postal service today and they really don't care either. I feel that there is nothing anyone can do because the letter is probably dead mail by now. It hasn't been scanned since Feb 12th.

They told me there is nothing they can do about it since it was only First Class mail, that once I drop it off and pay for it, it is no longer their problem. If it gets delivered, it gets delivered; if not, they can throw it away, take it home or deliver if they feel like it. I then talked to the local post office in the Sault here and the guy named Bill, a supervisor, goes on to tell the same thing that once I pay for it, there is nothing anyone can do. If it gets to the other end, it gets there. Oh well, pretty much my customer is unhappy because they did not get the package they ordered and I had to refund their money.

I shipped the item without insurance using parcel service. I have the delivery confirmation number. Two weeks later, I realized that i haven't been refunded for my book by the seller so I went on the USPS website to check the status of the item. The item then was still in transit and until today, it still has the same status.

It has been almost a month now since I shipped the item. I called the 1-800 and talked to a USPS representative, they couldn't tell me much about my item but they gave me a case number and told me that someone will contact me in two business days. Four or five days later, a guy from a local USPS office here in town called me and told me the same thing the representative told me when I called. He also said that the package ended up in Iowa and that they don't know anything else about it. The guy said he will check into it and call me back. A week went by without hearing from the guy, so I called the USPS number again and I found out that they closed the case. The representative told me that since I had no insurance, they cannot refund me or do anything more about it.

Just to be nice, she opened a new case to search for my item in Iowa. I feel completely ripped off by the USPS. I cannot understand how they can provide such a service and lose my package and do nothing about it. I understand that I didn't have insurance on my package, but that doesn't mean they can just lose it and do nothing about it. I called the local Post Office here in my small town of 700 to find out where my mail may have been and I was told to file a COA online which cost $1. I did just that and still hadn't gotten anything.

On Feb 12, 2010, I sent a complaint to USPS via the website. I had a call 2 days later from the local Postmaster again stating that I would be receiving a letter stating that the USPS was sorry to learn of my inconvenience and that my mail should start coming 14-21 business days from the effective date which was Jan 22, 2010. Any mail that came to the local Post Office would have to be mailed back to Bloomington, IL and then sent back again. That should take no longer than 4 days.

On Fri. I received a forwarded letter on Feb 20th, 2010 that was postmarked Feb 16th, 2010.

On Mon. Feb 21, I hadn't received any forwarded mail but had gotten 3 magazines that were sent to my old address but didn't have a forwarding sticker on them. I even got one from the previous address that I had many years before this past address. I once again called USPS and put in another complaint. It was then turned over to CA and I was told that I would be contacted with 48 hours. I have since gotten a piece of mail that was postmarked on Feb 2, 2010 which was a bill and, of course, overdue thanks to the USPS.

I honestly believe that because I live in a small community and people get so uptight over the littlest things that because I complained 3x on this matter, my mail is being held until the postmaster feels they should send it. Well, here it is 22 business days and I am still not receiving what I normally would have gotten 10 days ago (which is my form of living). I ordered a gift for some from a company located in California. The order was filled, the item was sent in first class mail with delivery confirmation, and I tracked it. The item was processed through the Los Angeles sort facility on February 11, 2010. There was no further update. On February 18, I contacted the post office and I was told that they could open an investigation, as the package should not have taken that long to get from California to New York. I was assured by the representative I spoke with that I would receive a call back with an update within 2 business days and that since my local branch was open on Saturdays, it would count as a business day. On the second business day, when I had heard nothing, I called back and I was told that there were no updates. The representative was incorrect and I would not be receiving a call back until February 23, the reported due date on the investigation.

When I asked the representative what the next step would be should the post office be unable to locate my package, she informed me that she did not have that information. When I asked who I could speak to regarding that information, she claimed to not have that information. Three more calendar days passed and there was still no call from the post office. I called today, February 23, and I spoke with a representative who again informed me that there was no update but that I would receive a call by the end of the day since it was the due date.

I asked her what would happen if the package was not found and she informed me that since I had not bothered to purchase insurance which is not an option when purchasing from the company in California, the post office was not legally responsible for compensating me. I informed her that it was unacceptable since they had been responsible for losing my package and she told me that it wasn't a legal concern of the post office. I pointed out that their lack of concern for my package was akin to them waiting until 5 pm on the 23rd then throwing their hands up in the air and saying "oh well". She then informed me that they would continue to search for the package past the due date, at which point I asked her what exactly the due date was. She did not know.

I asked her to contact a supervisor who did know and I was told that the lines were too busy and she was unable to contact her supervisor. The level of service, if it can even be called that, has been appalling. The post office refuses to take responsibility for losing the package and has basically taken an "oh well" approach to the entire situation. The representatives have been rude, uninformed, and basically unwilling to help regarding the matter. I have contacted the shipping company and they have offered to send a replacement package while filing a claim with the post office. I'm actually worried that the replacement won't show up either. Unfortunately, this package was an important gift for someone. Because of the post offices' incompetence in doing their job, I was unable to give this gift. It was an extremely disappointing turn of events.

The metal lip or frame around the box prevented me from pulling it out. He claims he left it on the counter the next day and it had to be stolen, which is quite unusual with a double-locked door. I never received it. Last week, we had four 1099 IRS letters that were not delivered. The management firm sent them to me and I delivered them. All had been properly addressed to four residents of the building. I had no trouble delivering any of them within the building. I don't yet know who had sent me the cardboard box package as I have not as yet been billed.

I ordered a resistor from a company in Florida on Thursday, February, 18 2010 and had the item shipped using the "new" priority mail from the United States Postal Service. The box was entered into the system on Friday morning. It is now Tuesday, February 23, 2010 and no one can tell me where my package is or when it may be delivered. I truly believe this is false advertising. Or there are two definitions to the word “priority.” The public’s definition and the postal service’s definition. Save yourself the money and the hassle and avoid "priority mail": just use regular ground and it will probably arrive sooner. I stayed in a hotel in Mississippi for two extra days waiting for a package that I was misled into believing would arrive in 2 to 3 days. Plus, I will probably never receive the package I paid for.

This parcel was supposed to arrive in South Africa weeks ago! I called the USPS from South Africa on a daily basis as well as my postal service. The phone call to the US cost me more than you can imagine! They told me there is no parcel only that they are expecting one and if I want info on it, I must go onto the track and trace website for USPS to check the status. But as you can see above there is nothing to look at!

The poster finally found out something about the whereabouts after weeks of frustration. The parcel has apparently been sitting at USPS local branch for weeks! Why have they not sent it?! They have no explanation for this! You can’t email them as their webpage is always offline. When I phoned I spoke to a really rude woman who was not interested in helping me even though I am from a foreign country and needed assistance. These people don’t care and have no manners!

This was the first time I have used USPS and purchased from the internet and I will never again as they are the most useless things I have ever dealt with in my life! I am at a point now that I don’t know if the USPS has scammed me or the person I purchased from has scammed me. If I had the money, I would fly up there and personally sorted this out. I have tried everything and spent a lot of money on the parcel and the phone call, etc. I have had enough! Please advise.

I have to go to this PO every Saturday since the hours changed and they no longer open at 8:00 during the week. What a chore it is every Saturday. The "call window" when you're just there to pick up a package is always closed. Everyone is standing on one line (and I mean there's always 25-30 on the line) and usually just two employees working the window. This means they are taking care of money orders, stamps, packages and everything else people may need. I spend at least 20-30 minutes every Saturday just to pick up a package. It's ridiculous. Today in particular...only one employee at the window for my first 15 minutes on line.

Finally someone else opens up and the other one goes on break! Are you kidding me!? There was almost a revolt on line with the line getting longer and longer. Meanwhile there are at least 4-5 people in the back peeking their heads out listening and seeing what's going on. Thankfully, (30 minutes in) someone finally comes to the "package window" and seriously, 3/4 of the line moved over to that window. When all you need to do is pick up a package it's ridiculous to wait 30 minutes or longer when there are so many employees standing around doing nothing. The workers seem to have the "I don't care how long you're here" attitude. I hate this PO but there's little recourse for me. I have to put up with it week after week. Short of being late for my job one day a week, what am I to do? I don't usually complain because it probably won't do any good but this is so wrong. Not sure whether it's the location (poor neighborhood) that they think it's OK to treat people like this but it's just so wrong.

US Postal Service keeps billing me incorrectly. I pay by credit card and when I talked to the supervisor, I was told that they never actually account for the stamp stock for each day but only tally payments received for each day. This means they will never find out if they have collected extra money for the sales that was conducted for that day. I have receipts and they have acknowledged that I couldn't have asked for that many stamps. I paid five times more than I should have.

I presently have two post office boxes in the Newton, New Jersey post office. One box ** is personal mail and post office box ** is business. The 8xx box I have had over 20 years the ** box over 11 years. The personnel in the post office staff are very familiar with me. The fees on my personal account became due. At the time I wanted to pay my fees to Anna, I was told it was too soon. She could not accept payment. The post office in general has cut back their services that the line is out the door all of the time with only one person on the desk, making people wait approximately 1/2 hour to process any mail problems. In the past several weeks the line out the door did not give me enough time to spend and wait for the poor one person left at the desk to handle it all.

Another time I was told by Jim at the desk that I had to get in line after waiting 40 minutes to get to him to pay my fees. I walked out zero. This is service? I didn't have another 40 minutes to wait for services. Today I went to pay my fees for box ** to be told that I would have to pay an additional fee to get my mail. I requested a change of address form to forward my mail to PO box ** and requested my mail from Chip. I was refused access to my mail even after forwarding paperwork was handed to the employee.

The past history of this post office leaves a lot to be desired. As it is, the post office box fees are double the fees in the neighboring post offices (Andover, Greendell, Tranquaility, Branchville, etc.) with the worse service possible. In the past twenty five years I have had the following problems with this post office which has created financial problems. The rural delivery clerk, when my mail shows both my street address and PO box, she returned the mail to sender. As a result I have had additional late fees, return credit cards and funds send to unclaimed property in the state of New Jersey. Today was enough: this post office has caused both a financial and physical hardship by their actions. I expect to have my present mail forwarded to the other PO box in the Newton post office immediately. I want to know what legal action I can take.

I called and they claimed that letter was mail the 3rd and my insurance was cancelled because of it. The next day (16th) I went to the office and I spoke to another manager in the Waukegan office. He rudely stated that there was no way I could prove the mailman left the note and letter on time and that I should check my mail more often which I do. The notice was a package from an unknown sender and they couldn’t find it in that office or prove that it was returned back.

In August of 2009, I started receiving unemployment checks. I was receiving my checks on time up until January 11. This was the first check that I didn't receive and still haven't received. I called unemployment first to make sure it was nothing on their end. After I established that it was not unemployment fault, I then placed a call to my local mailing station which is located in Suitland.

I spoke with Mr. R. who was the supervisor on duty at the time of call. I explained to him that, I have been waiting for an unemployment check that has not yet been delivered which was supposed to come the week before. He basically said there is nothing they can do, all the mail that was at the office has been delivered for that day. I then responded letting him know that I have put another claim in for the week that was coming. Mr. R. said wait to see if I get that one and if not then to give unemployment call.

At this time, I explained to Mr. R. that there was someone else other than the regular carrier delivering that day and could it be possible she might have placed my mail somewhere else. Mr. R. then stated that that couldn't have happened and he honestly thinks unemployment didn't mail anything. With knowing this, I ended the conversation with Mr. R. due to the fact he was not trying to assist me in finding the problem.

The next day, I saw my regular mail carrier and thanked her for assisting me in trying to find my check. At this time, she stated to me that she talked to Mr. R. about the problem due to the fact they had a lot of complaint when she wasn't working. And she also stated that my check was not the only check lost. Another gentlemen that lives in my complex was waiting for a Certified check and never received his as well. After talking to my regular post person, I asked her is there someone I could speak with over Mr. R. and she directed me to the postmaster.

I placed a call to where the postmaster was and had to leave my complaint with someone else because Mr. J. was not available and would call back. Mr. J. never returned my calls nor was he available when I called each time to see if he got my complaint. After not receiving that check, I had to place a stop payment on that check. I did receive the one for the next week and the week after.

Now I am back to the same problem again. This time, its not one check, it is two checks. The first was mailed 1/30/10 and the second one was mailed 2/2/10. I have yet to receive either one of those checks. Once again I had to place another call to USPS asking to speak with management and this time the manager on duty was Mrs. L. I explained to Mrs. L., that I have yet to receive two unemployment checks. She basically brushed it off saying that there is nothing they can do because they don't hold mail and my mail isn't there. She asked me did I talk to my carrier and I stated to her that my carrier is more on point than your station. I also informed Mrs. L. that the carrier has been knocking on my door to let me know that my check has not come. I also explained to Mrs. L., that these were not the only checks I haven't received.

This will make the third check I haven't received. Mrs. L. basically brushed it off. She was of no help and she became very rude when I stated to her that I had proof that my checks were mailed. She laughed and said that won't help and there was nothing else she can do. I hung up with Mrs. L. and placed another call to the postmaster Mr. J. and as usual Mr. J. is or was never available. I left my phone number for the fifth time and have yet to receive a call from anyone. And when I call, I am just getting rushed off the phone and being told there is nothing they can do, only Mr. J. can take care of the situation.

I am fed up with dealing with unprofessional people and I would like to take matters further. The mail that I am receiving is not just any mail. It is mail to help provide a roof and other things needed for my children. And I am not understanding why, if I have been receiving my checks on time before, now I don't have three. USPS has no explanation for anything and needs to take responsibility for the matter at hand. The fact is my social security number is on each check and could be used. Also. please be advise. I am not the only one that has a complaint about this particular postal location. Also our regular mail carrier is very good at what she does. She goes out of her way to make me aware of something she doesn't have to. She is doing the best she can to help resolve the matter and I have no complaints with her! And to make matters worse, my job check had to be mailed and I received that today. So where are my other three unemployment checks?

Apparently, I missed the "Pay By" note that they usually put in the box. So, they changed the key. But, they had my mail. I paid for the box, plus a "restoration" fee and got my mail.

Joyce (not the postmaster) came out and told me that my mail box was marked closed with no forwarding address and all of my mail was being returned to the central office and to the senders. She told me that it would be corrected in a day or two. The following week, I received two items at my home address that were marked PO Box **.

This time my husband went to the post office. Again, he saw Joyce and she told him that for some reason it was not re-opened, but that she would make sure it was fixed. She took a letter to show that it was returned to sender from the day before. The following week, I got an electric bill and nothing else. Normally, it might not be such a large problem, but I didn't get any of my tax information. A small check was also "returned to sender. " Again, I went to the counter and asked for the Postmaster. I told him everything that happened and he "assured" me that it would be fixed and I would get my mail the following day. That was over a week ago. The only thing I had in either mailbox is an advertisement for a gym. In addition, I had a certified letter from one of my employers addressed to **. The address was crossed out and Box ** was written.

I asked why I had not been notified and no answer was given. I had a blind dog with cancer that would escape the backyard to sit on the porch. Although she may have been startled by the mailman, she loved men so she never was a threat. I received a bundle of mail with a scrawl "dog loose" written by the mail carrier the next day.

Shortly after that, the mail carrier approached me at the gate to my backyard and threatened to stop delivering my mail permanently. He told me he would no longer deliver my mail if the front door was open, even if the storm door was locked. He was hostile. I did not respond but contacted the postmaster again. He told me that it was legal for him not to do so if he perceived a threat. This was complete nonsense and the mail carrier had targeted me specifically. I watched him deliver the mail to all the neighbors across the street with dogs and with their doors open. Everytime a substitute carrier works in his place, I get my mail. In recent years, it has been substitute carriers often. I have changed all my bills to electronic. I have had mail forwarded to other addresses just to ensure I get my mail.

The dog died and ten years has gone by and in the last month, he has decided to stop delivering my mail again. There has been a lot of snow and I have shoveled as much as I can. I got a hiatal hernia shoveling and it is very painful to shovel more now. It is not unsafe. I watch old ladies walk their dogs on my sidewalk and I walk to my car in high heels with no problem. Yet I know that the postmaster will support this arrogant mail carrier and say I haven't shoveled enough or put enough salt down or whatever defense they choose. When I called the USPS today, they told me I would have to file with Consumer Affairs to even find out where my mail is.

Isn't this a federal agency? Shouldn't they be accountable to the citizens? The fact is my mail carrier has denied me my property, left no notice as to why and has created a hostile environment for me in my own home for a full decade. This priority mail package contained a money order for $100.00. She sent it out on February 3rd, and it is now February 11th. I have still not received the priority mail package. I am not sure who exactly to complain to, but there are some very important packages that somehow seem to be getting lost, undelivered and forgotten. I am just thankful that I am not getting any of my prescriptions through the mail. This situation needs to be resolved quickly, I can not keep not getting my mail. I had at one point lived at **, and I went through the same sort of mail service of not getting letters from doctors, bills, and priority mail packages.

I know for a fact that the mail being sent to me does not have the wrong name or address. We are talking about family members, and doctors, and electric companies that very rarely, if ever have an address on a bill wrong. Please help me in this matter. I need to be confident that I can get my mail along with other North Carolina residents in a timely and professional fashion. The damage is worth $100.00 of someone's money that was lost or stolen, a Christmas present worth about $50.00 is gone and nowhere to be found, and utility bills aren't getting paid in a timely fashion due to not being delieverd. I can not be the only person that this is happened to, and I have never been so frustrated or concerened about not getting my mail. Opening someone else's mail is a federal offense, so I hope that there is not someone out there with $100.00, and a Christmas present of mine.

The UnAmerican assault on the true Americans/Christians/volunters is pure devil driven! I've been too sick to go out so I tried to mail two sermon CD and bulletins to our shutins. I put almost $1 postage on each evelope and the PO lady said I had to double that for delivery 10 miles away! While the devil-possessed money lovers send their unwanted lies and cheat-ads for pennies duplicated every day or week! The consumer pay inflated insane prices then has to pay to haul junk mail away. I have a daily mail pick up. At my location, there is never a problem when my regular driver is working. However, when he is on off, or they have him delivering mail instead of just his pickups, I always have a problem getting my mail picked up when I call to see if am going to be picked up. When my driver does not show up on time, Mrs. ** has answered the phone for me, and has always, and always had a very bad attitude, and does not care whether my mail gets picked up or not. I explained to her that on the 6th, I had 3 tubs completely full of mail, and several boxes, and that no one picked up my mail. All she said was your, "driver will be there". He never showed up.

On Monday the 8th, I again spoke to her and she had a nasty attitude again, and still did not send anyone out to collect my mail. Finally, around 5:30, my regular driver shows up and said they had him doing someone else's route, but he still showed up. I then had 5 tubs and more boxes. I also asked her if she can provide me with a fax number, to where I can fax my mail box rental applications for mail forwarding, and she could not help me. She then said to call back on Monday, and speak to such and such person, who handles the mailboxes. On Monday, I called again and was given the same answer again by Mrs. **, to call back on Tuesday.

This is aggravating. I give the USPS nearly $30,000.00 worth of business a year, and I don't believe I should have to go through this, just to get my customers mail picked up, if my driver is being put to do others' routes, or when he is not on duty. This is a major concern with me, that she is supposed to be in charge here, yet does not care, nor provides good services. Medications and other important pieces of mail, priority mail, express mail documents, both domestic and international, do not get to patients or other recipients, so this is a problem.

This makes it hard to get my bills paid on time if I don't get them! I can't ask people not to park there because it is a public street. Can I affix a box to my house and then she will have to deliver the mail whether someone is parked there or not? I printed a Customs Declaration & Dispatch Note from PayPal. I did not use it, it never left my city. However, it took five days from the date shipped to the date back to my porch. I have had packages sit at my post office many times due to the fact that they don't come to my house everyday. This took me out of the time frame to be able to void the label through PayPal. I was told that I have 60 days to receive a refund on services not rendered on a shipping label. This means not delivered from what I am explained.

Nevertheless, the Postal Service will not give me a refund. PayPal will also not give me a refund because they said that the post office is responsible. The post office says PayPal is responsible. Pitney Bowes says that the post office is responsible, even Click and Ship says postal service is responsible. So basically, I pay $84.79 for a label that didn't go anywhere.

I think this is how the post office makes money off of taxpayers. This money is probably going in some CEO's pocket, and the bad part is once they tell you no, they will not tell you the next level to go. It stops with consumer affairs, no means no and it's my fault.

In both of these cases, the status trail just "stopped" and the package was never received. The last one seemed to go back and forth between two offices for a number of days where the trail finally went cold. I do believe the employees are stealing on a regular basis for this to happen to me twice alone.

Their customer service is completely unresponsive and unapologetic about it as well, leading me to believe this is so rampant the employees have been numbed to the implications. Do not use the post office to mail anything other than letters as you have no choice there, and even then, use email and fax when possible. Put them out of business. That is what needs to happen. First time, I lost a cell phone valued at $150 being returned to provider. The second time, I lost $125 in items intended for a baby shower that I will now have to replace at additional cost with no time left to replace and receive what was initially purchased.

On November 9th, a package was shipped to me from this post office. I started actively tracking the package on December 9th, thinking that one month was a descent amount of time for delivery. Since then, I've had nothing but frustration with this package. I've had my local post office call me, saying they can't help because the package hasn't been delivered to them yet. I've had to file three complaints before consumer affairs became involved, and they referred me back to my local post office (who of course can't help).

After the third ground, my local post office manager told me to call 1-800-ASK-USPS to find the number for the shipping post office (the one in Boston mentioned above). I called them on the 26th of January, and was promised a call back within 2-3 working days. Nine days later, I called them back. They transferred me to the supervisor of the last machine it was sorted on. She told me they run 800,000 pieces of mail on that machine daily. She was at least courteous and helpful. I was then directed back to Consumer Affairs, who told me so much time had elapsed that I was pretty much out of luck. I was told the Mail Recovery Center would contact me if they found it. The run around here is truly staggering. Only once or twice in all of this mess have I felt that anyone wanted to do anything more than get me off the phone. I don't know where to turn from here.

I have made repeated phone calls to the post office and they have told me that my mail is in a warehouse in San Antonio (about 90 miles away) and that it may take up to two weeks to get it to me.

I haven't received more than a couple of pieces of mail in two weeks. I have medical prescriptions which I need now, W-2 form and other tax documents, mortgage and utility bills, and money in birthday cards, all missing in the mail. I have already had to pay late fees incurred because of utility bills not being paid on time. I am without my medications. The staff at that post office do not seem to care about my problem, which they admit was their fault, are doing nothing to expedite the return of my mail. Why does it take two weeks to move that mail 90 miles? They have responded to my understandable frustration by raising their voices, yelling at me, and asking me repeatedly what it is I expect them to do about it.

At this time, I have not received any of my back mail, and have received only two pieces of mail all week (including junk mail) which has caused me to worry that the problem has not been fixed and my mail is still not being delivered.

If it is a policy or procedure by the post office to leave packages at apartment doors, then can't the policy be changed to leaving a postal slip in one's mailbox, so that would ensure a more secure way for the consumer to get their products. This procedure makes me wonder if the postal carriers are stealing a lot of items that they claim to have left at a resident's door. They supposedly don't have to have a signature, so how would the consumer know if they ever left it.

So I was expecting a parcel/package from a close family friend from whom I purchased some awesome hand-made jewelery (not really expensive stuff, totally not worth stealing). She lives in MN, so she decided to send it USPS, since neither of us had ever had a problem shipping or receiving from them before and it was cheaper than sending UPS or FedEx. She told me she put the contents in a small white hard box, placed them in a manila parcel envelope, and completely sealed the flap and even added tons of tape.

When I check my mailbox, my brain didn't comprehend what that package was at first. The manila envelope was completely ripped in half. Clearly, someone had ripped it open to steal the contents out. You could still see the square indention from the box. What is the most ridiculous thing is that whoever tampered with it decided to replace my box of jewelry with 2 CDs for the 2006 surveys for N. Carolina Department of Transportation, as if I wouldn't notice.

I was dumbfounded. I thought maybe it was mail sent to the wrong box at first, which happens. But I saw my friend's handwriting and her address, and I became so upset! It had a big red sticker saying the contents were fragile, so if it had been damaged on its trip, obviously, no one paid attention to that big red sticker! What makes me the most upset is that how the mail carriers or workers at the post office can see something like this and still decide to deliver it without a second glance?!

All they do is stick a little sticker claiming it was received by them unsealed. My friend's tape was still there, unharmed! It was not unsealed; it was ripped open! So according to them, somewhere between MN and CA, the envelope magically ripped in half (I'm talking completely gouged open), and my contents fell out and were replaced magically by 2 CDs that somehow made it the rest of the way? Ridiculous! Are there no honest people these days?

Since I never heard back from Ambumed as to receiving the package I sent, I assumed they had received it and thus threw out the tracking number. However, three weeks ago, I received a call from Ambumed that they never received my package.

I know this is going to sound awkward, but please do not judge or be rude about what I am saying. I am an employee of the USPS. It really hurts to know that I love my job and my customers as much as I do and have people that feel horrible about us. Please don't assume that because your experience is bad, everyone that works here is all the same. I take pride in my job and am doing what I can for my customers. I try to treat my customers as I would want them to treat me. I have made friends with a lot of people on my route and try to learn everyone's thoughts on what can be done to better things on my end. I choose to do this because I love it.

I have worked for the post office over 5 years and full time for over a year. I have been thanked many times for doing a great job after the other lady retired. She was someone that had a lot of complaints about. Sometimes we do have bad days such as when we work sick, the mail truck is 2 hours late getting us our items to get to you, or something is going on in our lives that keeps running over in our minds. We have customers that have bad days also. I try to keep my chin up and put myself in their shoes. We should all do that. I just want you to know that not everyone is inconsiderate of others. I also want you to know that we are human beings and if someone just smiles and said thank you once in a while, it really makes us feel appreciated.

There are a lot of things that people don't understand about our jobs, though. I work 6 days a week for 7 or more hours a day with no break! We have to sort our own mail, organize it according to delivery, count the items (letters, catalogs, parcels, etc.), log information, sign a form for every move we make, keep track of miles, load it into our vehicles, and try to deliver it to the right place on time every time, and then do it when we get back in from our routes. As a rural carrier, I have to provide my own vehicle, insurance, etc. That isn't cheap. I do agree that there are people out there that only work for the money. It isn't that great, either, when you have to pay for all the expenses just to have the job like I do. Also, I don't get paid by the hour. If my route is evaluated at 7 hours and I work 12, I get paid for the 7 hours. Then, I get in trouble for not getting it done in time.

Rural carriers go through a route count once a year. If our mail is low for that 2 week period of time, which it usually is, we have to deal with the pay we are given for it for the next year. Most of us work hard, but do make mistakes. We have subs that don't care as much as we do. That is difficult for the regular carriers. I do everything I can think of to make my subs’ job easier, but he/she tends to not care. I put names in boxes, color code things, etc., but there is no getting him to care as much as I do. There are a lot of complaints when I take a day off. I hate to take off work because of that. It frustrates me seeing the mess that was created while I was away.

Not everything is in our control though. Before it reaches my hands, I don't know what has gone on until that point. I am writing this because I, too, have bad experiences with the postal service. I recently had an express package that was damaged (out of carrier’s hands) and scanned falsely by a carrier or clerk. It was scanned as attempted when it was not! That is a sign of laziness. I have called the supervisor over that postal facility several times and have gotten nowhere with it. There isn't anything I can think of that would be a good reason for that package to show attempted when it was not. That is just false documentation to cover someone's butt.

No matter what, there is no excuse to treat the customers the way that you have been treated. Do not just sit back either. There is always someone to listen and take care of it. Know that if you do not get results, keep going until someone does take care of it. Sometimes when I make a mistake, having the customer catch me and tell me (nicely) personally, it gives me a better image so that it becomes more personable. Everyone makes mistakes at sometime, but know that constant mistakes should not be tolerated.

Instead he holds it hostage. I am really sick of this. What is it they say about the USPS?

Through wind, snow, rain, etc., the mail will be delivered? What a joke. This mailman also scares my children and they say he is mean. So what do I do? I put a call into the postmaster. Hopefully he calls me back. I am extremely angry. I have 5 feet of snow in my yard and they expect me to shovel a path for this jerk. No, thanks. I'll just shove a huge mailbox in the snowbank and he can deal with that. I constantly worry about whether I should leave my outgoing mail in the box.
