I bought a text book offline on January 14th and another on January 17th. When I received the one I purchased on the 17th first I went to look at the tracking number for the purchase on the 14th. It said "departed USPS sort facility on Jan. 16 2012; eta: Jan. 18th.” Today is now the 26th and still no book! I have made many phone calls to my post office as well as paid them a visit on the 23rd. Where they told me since it was media mail (the cheapest way to send mail) that there is no telling when I will receive it and that it gets processed last. I pointed out that the tracking information stated it had departed the sort facility and they told me it was probably wrong and still there.
I spoke to my post master who could have cared less because in her quote “I can’t do anything till it comes into my facility." When I asked for a supervisor’s number or someone higher than her so I can find my package, she refused and told me she would email him my number and they will contact me! That was on the 23rd and still no one has called. Called customer service last night (25th), made a complaint and got a case number. The lady I spoke to was the first and only person who seems to care and realized I should have my package by now.
Called Consumer Affairs this morning and guy was rude and told me absolutely nothing and was on USPS’ side, not the consumers! No one can tell me where my package is. With this kind of customer service, it is probably why the USPS is going under! I will be using FedEx or UPS from here on out. And that’s what I told the guy from Consumer Affairs and that’s when he hung up on me!

My mail is being left in full public view in the garage/public and not being put in mailboxes. There was no delivery of mail for the last 2 days. Yesterday, I did call Ft. Dearborn and they sent someone out to deliver a few pieces. Today, the same thing.
Why is mail being left unsecured in a garage and not being put in mailboxes for distribution? Ft. Dearborn should be able to send a carrier to a high rise building that has many senior citizens.

Here is what happened, recounted in this email I sent to the shipper: On this rainy Monday I thought I heard a small noise at my door so I went to the window and looked out. I saw a mailman standing there and a minute or two later when I went to the door he was gone. I looked outside for a package and nothing was there. I thought my package would be delivered by UPS like all the other times but I checked my Amazon account and saw that USPS had my item and the delivery status page said Delivered. I called USPS on Tuesday and told them what happened. They said it would be delivered today (Weds.) but it wasn't delivered.
So I called them today to file a claim for reimbursement and the worker who called me back refused to talk to the carrier to see what happened (even though he should remember since it happened just two days ago) and said that with Delivery Confirmation all they had to do was leave it at the door and if someone wanted to walk off with it they could! He has refused to reimburse me also, unless the package was insured. Was the package insured so that the post office will reimburse me? This is stupid and I will try to catch the mailman tomorrow to ask him what the hell he did with my package. I think he kept it because it was rainy, but the guy who called me back earlier said that if they record the item as Delivered it was delivered.
The shipper responded less than 30 minutes later with condolences and the promise of my entire order being replaced at no cost to me, and it is being sent through a better carrier (UPS) with free overnight shipping! I love this company! I hate USPS and FedEx, who did something so outrageous resulting in the loss of all of my family's moving boxes that I had to take them to small claims court when I was in another state. The post office also caused multiple packages to be stolen when I lived in the ghetto one year. You'd think little Miss Chinese lady would know better than to leave packages on the ground outside in some neighborhoods! I'm very dissatisfied with America in general and I swear to God I'll be euphoric when I move the h-e-double hockey sticks out of here this year! I'm going overseas and I will never be back. Of course it's not just because of the terrible package receiving.

I still not got my mail from 1/10/12 to 1/23/12. I have called the post office. When I went there I was told to come the next day at 10am to pick up (but I am at work 40 miles away and can't go then) I talked to the carrier who got me 1/24 and 1/25 mail but the acting postmaster will let him deliver the rest - she has it on her desk. I have filed complaints with USPS customer service and called 1-800-ask-usps but both Ann and her supervisor Travis said that they can only send the complaint to the postmaster and since she is the cause I am stuck. She insists that I come daily to pick up my mail or purchase a mailbox at her post office or she will return all my important mail to sender as undeliverable. She admitted that there was bank information that she was sending back.
This month I have already gone there 3 times to pick up mail and each time I only get a part not everything. She has already complained about 'these foreigners' but though' I am foreign born I am a US citizen. I have lived here for 7 years - had no problems with the previous postmaster and this only started with Ms. **. Russell from ** (2 houses away) is having similar problems.

I ordered a package via USPS. I got confused and sent it to my home address, not my PO box (I have no mailbox due to vandalism). So it was my fault up front for sure. But they claimed they tried to deliver it and couldn't and then shipped it back to sender when I didn't call to claim it at the Finleyville Post Office. But they never left a note/form saying they were trying to deliver it. So how the heck I am supposed to know to call them? They could have easily left it in the doorway, but instead just drove off.
I did track it online and saw that it was sent back. So I called to try to stop it but it was too late. My biggest complaint about all of this is that their process is to hold it for 2 days and then send it back. It clearly shows on the online tracking report that they only held it for 1 day before sending it back. With post office hours not at all in sync with the rest of the working world, how was I supposed to know the package was missing, know to call them and do it all with in a 24-hour period when they close at 4:30 p.m. Even worse, they had my name on the package. I have a PO Box at the Gastonville Post Office, literally 1/4 mile down the same street as the Finleyville Post Office.
The U.S.(as in nationwide! ) postal service has no way of typing in my name into a computer and seeing that I have a post office box (which they own) right down the street from them. I assume that my cell phone number was also on the box since I had to provide it to ship and no one bothered to pick up the phone and call me. The Post Office has lost its focus. It's not to move mail around. It's to deliver mail to people. I asked for the item to be shipped back without me paying and was told that couldn't happen. It was $17 so the cost isn't really the point, it's the total lack of service that they deliver. I also have to say though that the people at the Gastonville Post Office where I have my PO Box couldn't be better or nicer. Their service is incredibly forward thinking even though they are a much smaller operation.

My mail carrier arrived and rang my door buzzer. He took 10 minutes to arrive at my door, when in 5 minutes, you can make it to my door. When he arrived, he handed me my package. When I closed the door and looked at the package, I realized it had been opened. The package contained a digital camera. The package was strategically opened from the underside. When the mailman gave me the box, everything seemed perfectly fine on the top of the box. I reported this to the post office, which sent me an email stating that there was nothing that they could do about my loss.

Like Julie of Trumbauersville, I received a notice of payment due for my PO box renewal earlier this month. I was pleasantly surprised that amounts due for 6 and 12 months were the same as last year. Due date is January 31. There was no notice that rates would increase January 22, much less what those rates would be. I mailed a check in the USPS envelope on the 23rd.
Today I received a letter attached to my rejected check stating that rates increased on the 22nd and if I had paid my renewal before that date I could have received the original lower rate, but now I had less than a week to renew at the new rate without consequence. The letter is dated January 1, but I know I never received such a notice before now. The new rates are handwritten on the letter and amount to an 18.75% increase. I agree with Julie that it seems fraudulent to state one rate on a bill and then increase that rate before the due date, especially in light of there being no prior notice and no recourse. Unlike many others I have always liked and supported the USPS, but am now very disappointed. This is very bad business practice.

I sent a package priority mail to my nieces in Puerto Rico, who recently lost their dad in the military. The package never arrived. Please help us to re-coup our insurance money and the fees charged to ship.

I have never been satisfied with the USPS. They first damaged a set set of dinnerware my sister sent to me for Christmas. It was clearly stamped fragile everywhere in the box. I couldn't recover any of the plates, they were all broken. I did not complain for that one. Two weeks later, I sent a large flat rate box that cost at that time $14.95 and the clerk told me it will arrive in LA in 4 days, that was on December 27th 2011. I paid $34.70 and I did not ask any question to the clerk because I supposed she put insurance that's what makes it so pricy. Not only she didn't put insurance but she did not even put a tracking number on it.
It is January 25, 2012 today and the package is not there. I called and filed a case and anytime I called to check on the case status, they told me the system is down or someone is going to contact you in 2 business days, no one did and the worse they closed the case without telling me. I filed another case and it is still the same scenario. I put very valuable family items in the package and now they are playing with me. The supervisor I talked to today gave me a consumer complaint number that is not in service (617 654 5704). I will not let this rest even if I have to go to the US attorney general. That's how angry I am right now.

I am waiting for a package. it has arrived at the USPS in ISC New York. It has been there since the 21st of January. Today is the 25th of January, and I checked, and it is still there. Pony express could have already arrived, but no, it still sits there. They raised their rates, and they keep raising, and the service gets worse. Now I know why I use email and online billing. It is more reliable than the USPS. I would even pay extra to send through UPS, FedEx, or DHL, than the USPS. Maybe I will receive my registered mail package, or maybe not. They are to email me with every step. I better not wait on that either. Just think, if they shut down all those post offices, it will take months to get you mail.

We sent a package in early December 2011 to our nephew in Afghanistan. He never got it and we just got it back yesterday, January 24th 2011, and it was a bit damaged. USPS said that they couldn't deliver it because of damage which didn't look so bad to us. We don't care about the damage to the box, we only wanted him to get it! Also, we paid $13 to mail it.
I would like them to allow us to put it in another box and mail it again at no cost to us. They damaged it so they should send it out again. We wanted him to have what is in it as he needed those items - hat, magazines, candy, pen, notebook, jerky, etc.

Every 6 months, I receive a bill due for PO Box fee. Every year, it increases a couple of dollars yet it is clearly printed on bill. This week, I received my bill due on January 31st. I wrote a check for $23.00 (6 months fee), $46.00 (12 months). I dated my check Jan. 24, 2012. I placed it in the outgoing mail for our town that afternoon at 4PM. I then went to my box where I found a single piece of paper, a notice from the office. The paper said "Notice: PO Box fee due - $29.00 (6 months), $58.00 (12 months). Puzzled, I thought the post office was fining me $6.00 if it was late. But it wasn't late, my bill was delivered to me last week and printed with a label stating $23.00 fee (6 months), $46.00 fee (12 months).
How can my bill change as I'm writing out the previous charge? The postmaster refused to accept my sealed envelope with check when I said it was made out for $23.00. He stated that his computer would show different balance due and he just put these notices out late, it's not his fault and he can't accept my check for $23.00. It is fraudulent because previous pre-printed bill states other amount which can't change overnight. You must wait for the next month due. I refuse to pay an extra $6.00 for paying my $23.00 4 days early! Why don't they start the new charge at the beginning of February? Why should only people with January PO fees suffer and lose $6.00 for 3 days of service? Besides the extreme increase, it's pathetic to pull a stunt like this. I have never encountered such an act. I would like an attorney to explain the legality of being stated different amounts due.

I'm in the last house on a tract, and when we get a "fill in" mail carrier they put my mail on their arm and damage it by sweating on it. I've been complaining since 1985 and it continues. For many years now there is a laminated sheet in the post office with my address on it and instructions to be careful with my mail yet it still gets damaged. I complained as recently as three weeks ago when the fill in mail carrier damaged my TV guide and I was assured (as usual) that the supervisors know of the problem. Today the mail carrier damaged my monthly Japanese food catalog and I called the supervisor again to complain about the mail service.
This supervisor, Angela, took the information and really didn't seem to care. I told her she was welcome to come over or send someone over to pick up the catalog and examine it. She asked for my phone number and said she was going to contact the mail carrier "to see if he did it.” I asked her if she was doubting my honesty on the matter and she said "Yes, I am.” This is **. I've been getting my mail damaged for 27 years now and I have to put up with a supervisor that questions my honesty. I just sent in a complaint through the USPS website like I have for ages. I've talked to the consumer people in Santa Ana, CA. I've done everything I can think of yet these mail carriers disrespect my mail.

We have businesses in two cities (Malvern & Bismarck). All of our mail is paid online from our Malvern address. We drop off mail in both cities and today, for the first time, the Bismarck, Arkansas postmaster Jay says he will not accept our mail ship-n-click prepaid postage labels because they have the Malvern return address. We have to have that for our return address because that is where our packages must be returned to if they are undeliverable for any reason.
We drop off mail in Arkadelphia and Hot Springs with these same Malvern return address pre-paid labels with no problem. The postmaster at Bismarck was very rude and disrespectful in refusing our mail. We had to drive 72 miles round trip back to Malvern so that our mail would go out today as promised to our customers. Besides the expense of this unplanned trip, we lost nearly two hours of work time today.

A friend of mine, finished a custom longbow, then sent it out USPS Priority mail. Nothing wrong with timing but when the package was received, it was torn, ripped, crudely taped together, dinged up, terrible condition. When I opened it, the bow was in alright condition save for some dings and scratches in the areas where the box was messed up. Carefully, I removed the bow from the box and to my surprise there is a huge crack in the wood and the horn tip overlay hit off as if it were hit by a hammer or trampled on. USPS, get a hold of your employees. Fire the bad ones and be more careful about whom you hire. You think making cuts is the solution? No. The solution is acting like a business and not a scam.

My sister-in-law shipped our professional pictures to us from out of state in a photo mailer envelope that clearly said, "Do not bend." On Saturday, I go to my mailbox to get my pictures, and the mailer is rolled up and shoved into my mailbox. All my pictures are bent. Yesterday (Monday, January 23), I went down to the post office to figure out a resolution. I asked the lady at the counter what the envelope said. She said, "Do not bend". So I picked up the envelope, showed her where it was clearly bent, and she yelled for the man who is apparently my mail carrier. He came out and I asked him the same question. He looked at the envelope and then at me and said "So? I just rolled it." Then he demonstrated how he bent the item. I nicely said it is clearly bent and so are all of my pictures. His response, "What do you want me to do about it? Pay you for them?" I said "Yes, actually."
Unexpectedly, he pulled $115 out of his wallet and handed it to me and proceeded to storm away. I spoke with the woman at the counter after that and told her that I didn't feel right taking his money and asked if there was anything we could do through the postal service. She said no and that he's my postal carrier and should know better, so to take the money. So, I asked her to thank him for making it right and I left. At 9 o'clock this morning, I get a phone call from the post master. Apparently, she's my carrier’s mother and is accusing me of doing something illegal and is demanding that I return the money and file a complaint with her about the damage (which obviously won't do any good because that's his mom) or give her the pictures in the original packaging and write a receipt to him that says he paid me for them. If I do not, she has insinuated that if we don't do one or the other, she will accelerate it to someone above her. She also keeps stating that it is illegal for a postal carrier to pay someone for something they damaged.
These pictures were taken out of state, and the nearest place to get them retaken is over an hour away. Also, the pictures are worth more than $115. I only asked that someone make amends and his solution was to give me that much money for them because he was the one at fault. It would cost far more than $115 to drive to the portrait studio, get the same amount of pictures we had before, and drive home. My husband went to the post office and was irate. He got angry and yelled, but that was all. No resolution was made, and my local post master is convinced that I forced her son into giving me the money for the pictures. I was told by customer service to file a complaint and someone would help me further. Is there really anything she can do regarding this situation or would it be considered someone paying someone for something they damaged? If I do have to return the money, is there anything else I can do?

I called to inquire about the location of the package my father mailed to me in NY from AL, due to be delivered on the 23rd of December, 2011. He paid $12.40 for this, and received a receipt, which he later mailed to me, in the hopes that it would help me locate the package, which still hasn't arrived by the 23rd of January, 2012. I called the post office 800 number, and somehow managed to connect with a live person. Although this is next to impossible, because that option is not offered. I was told by a representative that without a tracking number (and because my father didn't pay for delivery confirmation), there was nothing that could be done.
I requested to speak with a supervisor (Aaron, ID number: QQG0H0), who was very dismissive of my situation, and whose tone left a lot to be desired in terms of politeness. I questioned the policy of charging customers a fee of $12.40, to deliver a gift via the USPS, if it guarantees nothing, and they aren't responsible for delivering the package at any time. I am not complaining about the package being late. I am more upset that it's a month later, and I never received a 'sorry we missed you' delivery attempt slip at my home, leading me to believe that the package has been lost or stolen sometime, before it could reach me.
My father is almost 70 years old, a Vietnam veteran, and deaf in one ear because of it. I feel that the USPS scammed him by charging for a service, that it is not then obligated by any policy or law, of which I am aware to actually provide. So as of this point, I not only have lost the value of the contents of the package. My father has been deceived into paying the USPS for not delivering it. I would appreciate any guidance available to me.

I never got a response back stating she received my email and what I should expect next. Since then, I have left numerous voicemail messages at the phone number I was given (**). She did tell me that because it wasn't insured, I would be at a lost on the key chain, postage fees and since it's an eBay product that was sold (by myself), the customer will leave negative marks on my account.
That will reflect other buyers from buying from me. Then I'm at a lost with the original package and the cost by me of the contents inside, the extra postage to go first class with confirmation, the cost by myself to go around town and to find and buy that exact key chain again. The month of November was fine, the month of December--wow, it even came on Friday before Christmas on the 23rd. But it is now January 21 and I still haven't received either checks mailed. I cancelled the first one mailed on January 4 and the insurance company made us wait until the 20th to issue a new one, which isn't here. But the one issued on the 18th--well, neither is that one.
So the postman acts like he did it even though he absolutely has no idea what we are talking about and insist that there is nothing that can be done. But I made a complaint with the first check and the manager called back. But he hasn't called my back yet on this. He said he would look into it. I believed him and certainly thought that I would at least never have the problem again. And when it didn't come yesterday or today, I knew something's wrong. Someone is taking it or keeping it or delivering it to the wrong address over and over again.
To me, this is still tampering with federal mail isn't it? And to top it off, I got no mail today. It's like I am getting some of the things but not everything. I forwarded my address and get so much mail from my previous address. The mailbox is usually almost over full. And now, I get one thing if I am lucky, and the missing mail has this new address so it shouldn't be delayed anyway.
This is horrible and when you try to talk to the mailman, he acts guilty. He doesn't look at you and keeps going. Mind you, he delivers here at 4:50pm everyday anyway so by that time, everything is closed to try and do something about it that day anyway. This is an apartment but each mailbox has its own key and it's gated so no one can just come in and break into the boxes and leave. They would be damaged and you would know if they didn't use a key. The first check hasn't been cashed as of now and has a stop pay on it.

I ordered a collector plate for my mom in December from eBay. It came quickly, but the postman tossed it over the 3 ft. gate on my deck instead of opening the gate and setting it down. I heard the kerplunk noise and ran out as soon as I could because I figured it was broken by the postal service. Unfortunately, he was already driving away when I picked up the box. As soon as I picked it up, I could tell it was in pieces. I opened it and the plate was broken in 3 pieces.

I spoke to a supervisor and he said that that dog is not my problem and he does not understand why they're holding my mail . Today, 1/21, I went back to the post office and was looking for the main person named Willis. I left a message as well as a voicemail and have gotten no responses. On December 19, 2011, I sent out 3 very large boxes (about $44 each to send plus delivery confirmation) to myself from PR to NY with the few but precious belongings I owned due to my move. I never received it. The 1st box was scanned in PR then the Bronx and was received, no problem. The 2nd box was scanned at PR, the Jacksonville FL's port of call and received broken into with my Zane book collection and a new toaster taken out from it and stuffed with brown paper. The 3rd box was also scanned at FL port of call, but was never received. I called the USPS 800# to get the same *** I see everyone else in here has gotten.
They give you a complaint # and tell you they will call you back in 2 days. I've called 3x because I am yet to get a call back and they just "keep resubmitting my case". Now explain to me how they can't figure out how packages go missing. Each employee has a scanner ID. They know who loads the truck and when they load it. If they don't they should have cameras to see who leaves with the packages. That person obviously makes a quick stop and delivers it to themselves or a friend on the side of the road.
This is grand larceny and USPS has paid criminals and the worse part is I paid for them to steal my valuables from me and they tell me there is nothing they can do about it unless I paid even more $$ for insurance which is probably useless too. So I asked if I can at least get my $$ back for a service that I paid for and never received and they have the nerve to tell me maybe, go fill out a form at my post office and see what happens. USPS is a joke! I am now boycotting and will use facebook and twitter to warn everyone I know and don't know not to use them. Thanks for nothing because I know this in itself is useless.

We are not always home after trash collection to be able to ensure this. However, we are home often enough to see that she just passes us by. I want someone to take care of this matter. There are a lot of unemployed people who would like to work. These postal workers make good money and fail to perform their jobs. It is not that they are understaffed. They just don't want to work. They slow down production to say that they have a lot of work. Last month, I sold a slightly used Nikon Digital camera body on Amazon for just under one thousand dollars. On December 28th, 2011, I shipped it from my local USPS location in Buena Park, California. I selected Parcel Post Service with delivery confirmation. Unfortunately, I didn't buy the optional insurance.
So, according to my tracking information, my thousand dollar package managed to vanish into thin air after leaving the Bell Gardens, CA sorting facility. It was expected to be delivered by the 5th, and now it's going on the 21st.
Upon reading this, I immediately went to my post office to inquire about the lost package and see what I had to do next. I was told that It might be best to wait longer. It had already been over 14 business days..
So I went home and called the general line and filed a missing package claim, and was given this confirmation and told that I would hear back from them within a few days. This didn't happen.
Now I'm at a loss for what to do next. I sold this camera in order to pay for my school supplies, and textbooks for the upcoming semester, and if I can't locate it, I'll have to refund the buyer and take a loss. Even worse, if I refund the buyer and then a few weeks form now the package mysteriously gets delivered to them, I'll probably be out both the money and the camera.
Please, If anyone can help me, I'd be very thankful.

After speaking with the carrier a couple of times, she attempted to help me locate my package. Finally, I called to file a case. I was given a case # and told someone would call me in 2 days. No one called, so I called to repeated the process.
I was told that in the USPS system, it showed that the package was delivered on 12/20 but returned to the post office on 12/27. No one knew where the package was. After an exhausting chase, I ended up paying for a second phone. And you guessed it, after tracking this phone, I saw on the USPS website that it had been delivered on 01/14. Only I still didn't have my phone. After a wild goose chase of people telling me they would call me back, I talked to the carrier who said that the relief carrier delivered my package to apartment # 4201. I live in 4301. My friend lives in 4201 and didn't get my package.
I spoke with consumer affairs, who called the manager of that location. He told me if my package got delivered to the wrong place, the relief :carrier would be fired. Encounter 1: Letter carrier leaves a USPS blocking mailbox warning citation on my neighbor's friends car as they are attending a post funeral lunch at my neighbors home. Car was not completely blocking mailbox and driver could have gotten out easily and placed mail in mailbox that is located on the edge of the curb.
Encounter 2: Letter carrier writes on my mail that a car was blocking my mailbox on a specific date the previous week! That means this letter was not delivered last week. The car in question was my personal auto parked 10 feet from my mailbox. Enough room for any non-idiot to pull along side or even reverse his mail truck a couple feet, so he doesn't have to strain himself from doing his job.
These 2 incidents were about 6 months apart. Not enough to warrant a consistent complaint from the letter carrier about a blocked mailbox. This is what is stated on USPS website: "According to our policy, the city or rural carrier should get out of the vehicle to make delivery if the mailbox is temporarily blocked by a vehicle." This is USPS policy! Meaning this is your job! Just do your job and stop being lazy about it and writing warning citations and leaving notes on my personal mail!

San Juan failed to deliver the package, resulting in me having to visit two different post offices 5-6 times each (Loiza post office and Miramar). And each time I was given a different story and location of my package, making me run around endlessly without any success. I opened a claim, case number **, and ended in not being able to locate it. When I contacted USPS for the 7th time, I was confirmed that due to the package having been at the post office for more than 15 days it has probably been returned to New Canaan; however, no one currently lives there as it is vacant for rent.
However, in the scans, when you check the system, the last update is from December 28th, 2011 when it states that a notice was left at the delivery address which was never found. There is no scan of the package returning to the post office nor leaving and returning to CT. It just disappeared. Since January 3rd I have been looking endlessly for this package. When I now go to both post offices here in PR they say the package could not have been returned because it was never scanned to leave PR back to CT.
The same mailman from route 4, who supposedly left the notice, was also caught on photograph yesterday throwing a package over the fence when he didn't even ring the bell or knock on the door to see if anyone was home. After 4 days of not receiving any mail, I became alarmed and called my local post office. I was especially concerned because I was anxiously awaiting some very important mail that should have arrived days earlier. Imagine my surprise when, after being told a couple of different stories (including one where some mystery "family" member had completed paperwork to have my mail forwarded to some mystery address), I learned that my postal carrier had the power to complete a change of address form for me and had determined that no one was living at my house!
She said that I hadn't checked my mail in over a month. I had letters that I received only last week, but that was blamed on a phantom substitute carrier who wasn't aware that I had moved. I hadn't moved! The post office informed me that they have the right, without having to verify truth at all, to determine that I had moved, hold my mail, placed a sticker that reads "Moved--left no forwarding address" on all mail, and return it to the senders.
When I asked, "How can you legally put a lie on a letter and send it back? If I haven't moved, it's a lie! What would this tell creditors about my reliability?" I was told this was to protect senders from identity theft. She rambled on about how people set up mail to go to a vacant house as a scam, blah, blah, blah. I don't care, because you see I didn't move! I didn't change my address! I just want my mail! She accepted no responsibility for what happened and says they are within their rights. No consequences for the post office!
Of course, for me I'm not sure what mail I'm missing, or who I need to contact to tell them that I didn't move without leaving a forwarding address. Among the "missing items" is a check that I desperately needed. No clue where that is. Most importantly, I'm still stunned as to how the mail carrier has the power to complete a change of address form just as if she is me, and how the post office is not in some way liable for posting a blatant, uncorroborated lie on my mail.

By January 18th, 2012, it still had not been delivered. The tracking number only shows that it was accepted and processed at my local post office and nothing else. I went to my local post office, called the USPS 800 number, and called a consumer affairs number that they gave me on January 19th, 2012 to find out what happened to this package.
The post office and consumer affairs said that they would call me that day or on January 20th, 2012. The lady at the post office left early on January 20th and did not call. I had to call the lady at consumer affairs because she did not call me either as promised. No one from the USPS can tell me where the package is even though it has a delivery confirmation number.
They are telling me now that may be six weeks before they can tell me where the package is and they will not compensate or reimburse me in any way even though the delivery confirmation number states that they accepted and processed my package, but now have no idea where it is and don't seem to have much urgency in finding it.
I ship on average about 60 packages a month through the USPS and this is not the first time I have had an issue with delivery problems. On average, I have at least one delivery problem a month with the USPS and a little more than half of those problems cost me money in the form of refunds to the addressee, nonrefundable fees to list and sell, plus the cost of shipping.
Any further information or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Needless to say, this package is very important to me and would appreciate someone looking into the matter and even in the priority mail dead package file somewhere within the post office.

I sent a package to granddaughter in Los Angeles with many, many holiday gifts since she could not come home for the holidays. Tracking information shows it was accepted at San Leandro post office on December 15, arrived sorted and went out for delivery on December 22. Tracking shows a pink slip was left. Granddaughter looked and looked but never found any pink slip and the post office claims they do not know where package is. The treatment by the Los Angeles post office has been terrible. They also will not return calls from the San Leandro post office supervisor who is trying to help track down the location of the package. This is ridiculous!
gathered all year long), the postage to send the package, and a $28 bank charge to cancel a check which was included in the box. At this point, I want the package to be found and returned to me so I can deliver package it in person when my granddaughter visits in a couple of months. Otherwise, sadly, if it is not found, I certainly want to be compensated for the fact that the US post office is supposed to safely keep the package if a pink slip is delivered and cannot now claim they have no responsibilities.
If they didn't deliver it, then they must have it. If they have it, they need to find it and return it to sender or be responsible enough to pay for their mishandling of the package. It is absolutely their responsibility to deliver the package or keep it at post office until it is claimed or returned to the original sender, period! My hope is that the original package is found and returned, but if not, it is only right that I be compensated for their mistakes. I would be most grateful for any help you can give me. Thank you. There is the possibility I have a case number already on file, check: CA107419811. Thank you again.

I send money orders via first class to pay my customers. I am getting endless complaints that they never arrive, which requires that I cancel the money orders (which costs $15 each and takes a month to get the refund check in the mail), meanwhile angering my customers. Often, the envelopes are simply never seen again (even some that I paid extra for signature confirmation on just to be sure it got there), sometimes they are returned as "undeliverable" when the address was perfectly correct and went through after re-sending (and repaying for postage), and always any envelopes that must be returned to sender for any reason take weeks to get back to me. In the meantime, I am out postage, had to placate customers and spend yet another $15+ to cancel and purchase a new money order. I actually get serious feelings of anxiety rise every time I place an envelope in the mail slot, never knowing if this is going to be another time where the Post Office screws me over, costs me money and loses me customers.
I always knew that no system is perfect and was sanguine about "stuff" happening sometimes, but now that I have to rely on the Post Office to carry on my business to a greater extent than I ever had to before, I realize that it is a seriously broken and inefficient operation, with terrible, terrible customer service. And without spending money, I can't possibly afford to spend and still stay in business. There is no alternative to using them.

On Thursday January 05, 2011, I dropped off a very important package "Certified Mail" at my local post office and is yet to be found. Around Monday, I called with a tracking number and nothing. I've spoken to numerous supervisors and they just passed the buck. No one can tell me where my package is. I have filed an investigation claim with USPS and like others, I was told that someone would get back to me within two business days and as of today, nothing.
I called the customer service number and asked to speak with a supervisor and I was treated with such careless and rude attitude. I was in other words told "Oh, well". What upsets me the most is that the USPS is a government ran business and us consumers have no other alternate means of sending mail. It's not like a store where if we're unhappy with the service we simply shop elsewhere. No, instead we're stuck feeling frustrated and helpless.

I have been expecting checks mailed from approximately 2 miles away from the above address, the check was mailed out on 1/6/12 and it has not arrived.
Bills are not received, however; I am still accountable for payment. Where is my mail going? I am not deceased.
This is not the first time I have had problems with Beverly Hills Post Office. Three years ago, I secured a post office box in New York City. I physically went into the New York post office and filled out the requisite forms including a change of address. During the 6 months I was in NYC, I was lucky if I received 10-12 pieces of mail. When I brought this to Beverly Hills Post Office attention, they stated I should have done this online. Is there any logic to this statement?
Another time, all my mail was in a heap on the outside of the building for everyone to see or pick up. Is this how mail is delivered? Is there no accountability? I need resolution.

I flew to the west coast from Christmas eve through January 6. A week earlier, I requested Hold Mail, which I received confirmation from. I noted in my request that if it was too much to redeliver, I'd be happy to pick it up. Later, I found out that a friend who I had asked to check regularly on my cat, said there were several days that I had received mail. I also had told my neighbor that I was leaving, so she could keep an eye out and she saw mail on 2 occassions.
I've had this problem before where USPS totally ignores Hold Mail requests and it pisses me off that I get confirmations.
Additionally, my postal carrier leaves my fence gate wide open and consistently drops rubber bands on my font porch. I have a nice little collection that I might cut (so they can't reuse) and return to the post office with a note saying "you dropped these on my porch, I thought you might want them back". Just wish I knew my mail carrier's name.
Also whenever I get certified mail notices, I always assign them and check "Leave at my address". What do they do? Drop the ** card right back in my box instead of actually doing their job and redelivering. The last time this happened, I taped the card to an 8x11 sheet of white paper and posted it very visibly with an arrow drawn pointing to "redeliver" but still that afternoon, guess what I found in my box? I don't trust USPS anymore.
Since I'm here, I also had to request a refund from Amazon one time because I got a text from them saying an order was ready for pick up. Normally a text says, "Your order has been delivered" and "Left at my address." However it did not say where to pick up. I called Amazon to find that UPS delivered to the local post office for some stupid reason. I went to the local post office and they shrugged, "We don't have anything for you."
After more than a week of "out for delivery" status, I checked tracking info and they still never was able to find my order anywhere (perishable I might add). Amazon couldn't help me locate it either so they gave me a refund.

I said no, since signing indicates receipt of the mail. 2 months later, I got a call to pick up my paycheck with no apology. Furthermore, I get packages that belong to neighboring buildings with different addresses. However, their apartment # is 7, like mine. I have had several packages go missing, and sometimes they have a monetary value, especially if it is an item that I ordered or that my job ships to me. I called USPS 800 number, and was told that it was probably a scanning error, and package was in a local post office in limbo.
They told me to call the regular local post office. Regular post office told me that mail carrier probably hit a button wrong, and instead of accepted, they were scanned as delivered. Local said to call P.O., where the item was going, and ask for a recall. Said to do immediately as it was probably going to be delivered today 1-12-2012. The phone number was constantly busy.
I called back to 800 USPS. They transferred me to Consumer Affairs. Consumer affairs says I have to go to local PO and get a form 1509. I hung up on her as I am running out of time. Many of the packages I have missing still say they are sitting at my local post office, which is not true. The packages have moved to a sorting facility and then they are lost. Because there are no scans done you will never know where they are being lost or quite possibly stolen. They never get to the buyer and they do not get returned to me, so where are they. All the missing packages I have I must either reship or refund, so as a small business this is really hurting my bottom line.
I call customer service and it is the same every time. They can take my complaint, but that is all they can do. The post office is paid for a service they do not always do. They are forcing people to either send everything express, which there is no guarantee on that either, or use another shipping company. UPS, does not lose packages and they scan a package at every stop it makes.
We always hear how the post office is losing money and must raise the rates, if they did the job correctly that would not be so bad. The problem is they do not do the job well and continue to raise the rates. UPS is becoming a very serious option for me. I need my packages to get to my buyers and if they do not reach the buyer the post office needs to know where that package is.

It usually takes one day for my co-op maintenance bills to go from zip code 11209 to 11214 (5.8 miles away), both in Brooklyn, NY. The last bill took 7 business days to reach the building manager's office. I have been in touch with the building manager since I noticed that my check had not cleared. We kept in contact for several days and I avoided paying a late fee. From now on I will pay my bill using online banking, no more USPS.

The USPS has not delivered over thousands of dollars in checks to our small business from customer in the same town that we are in. This started back in October of 2011. Being a small business, every penny counts in this economy. I have called and filed two complaints and even field an email complaint. The only response was, "We are unable to keep track of all the generic mail that comes through our offices." We have even been charged late fees from our City Water department even through the woman on the phone said she had heard our area postal service has not been delivering mail in a prompt manner.
Last year, we had two checks to our accountant fall by the way side never to be seen and five checks from customers. As of today's date, January 9, 2012, we are already missing three checks from customers. I guess the USPS service is going to break their track record this year. Keep raising those rates guys. You earned it.

I was living with my daughter at her address of ** and I was using her address while I was there. But we recently moved in 10/2011 and have still been having problems. We both have went to the post offices in the city where we live and still, we are receiving each other's mail. She had a magazine sent here that had to be changed with the company she ordered it from. I know that the mail is sorted by zip code and we have different zip codes so what's the problem? I received mail from Pontiac, MI too. I lived there for one year in 1999, but not recently. I was told over at the Imlay City post office that the address mix-up has to do with the Central Forwarding Service, which used to be at local offices but was changed to Detroit and now possibly Pontiac.
What was the problem with the mail being handled at the local offices anyway? We have to repackage and mail each other's mail now and we have complained in person too! It's illegal to tamper with another person's mail, costly and an unnecessary pain. Can you please look into this problem?

This is not a complaint, but a rave! I dropped mail in an outside drop without postage (smart). When I realized my mistake, I went inside, and was told by a counter clerk that I would have to wait for the item to be returned for no postage. If my husband had entrusted me to make this piece of mail delivered on time, I would have just waited for it to be returned. Well, once I got Consumer Affairs involved (great reps by the way), things started to move. The same people who informed me there was no way of locating my one piece of mail, was now engaged in the search. However, they never found my piece (my husband's going to love that), but they were able to pull several other pieces without postage. Those poor souls. Thank you Consumer Affairs and the Midwest City, OK branch for all your efforts. I have a renewed faith in our US Postal Service. I'm now on my way to downtown Oklahoma City location, wish me luck.

A certified letter with return receipt was sent on 12-21-11. A delivery was supposedly "attempted" on 12-23-11, but even the customer service reps could not access any information about it because the entire USPS post office computer system was down for weeks! Some hacker must have truly gotten even with the postal service and it has crippled them! I have never seen such a collapse of services for such a long period of time--it's mind-boggling! The post office's entire USPS national computer systems at their customer service offices have been down daily now for 2 weeks (maybe longer).
Whenever I called them, the reps told me they could do nothing to help me, including arranging a redelivery of the certified return receipt letter because they could not access anything! I could not even register a complaint because that part of their system was down too. I called them several times thinking no national system would be so hindered for so many days!
Going online repeatedly over many days was useless since online was not working properly either. Tonight I tried online again, and when I finally got through to where I was filling out their long form to redeliver a message appeared that said the letter had been sent back! I did not have a clue as the tracking does not show any change either. Because the computer systems at the main number are still down, I have no way of finding out even from a rep what date they sent it back.

I sent off two (2) separate packages on December 20, 2011 for delivery to the following places: Tennessee and Virginia (from Phoenix, AZ). I purchased delivery confirmation and was able to track each of the packages. As of December 22, 2011, the packages reached the Bell Gardens, CA post office and left this facility on December 23, 2011. To date, no updates have been received. In addition, I informed the recipients that the packages should get to them by December 27, 2011; however, due to the busy holiday probably give or take a few extra days.
As of January 6, 2011, I called the USPS to file a case # and complaint. They could not supply me with any information as to the whereabouts of the packages. I am pretty much assuming that these packages are lost, but for both of them to be lost is a little ironic. I would at least expect one of these packages to make it. I'm truly very disappointed as these packages contain Christmas gifts and in addition, I paid for the shipping services in which the customer service representative informed me that I probably won't be getting a refund for that as well. I mean, it's bad enough that the USPS lost my packages but that they won't refund me as well for the shipping costs. I'm truly irate. Can someone help?

Delivery issues. In the past 6 months I have placed many orders online and made sure to have them sent priority mail service which mean I should receive them in 2-3 days time. I also purchased track and confirm. I tracked these packages to see that they are sent to a sorting facility 45 miles from my home then sent to a sorting facility 150 from my home then back to the facility 45 miles from my home which adds and extra 4-7 days on my package being delivered. Despite that I paid more to have it delivered in 2-3 days. They are raising their rates, complaining about the drop in people using the mail service. Well, do you think it could be because you are not doing what you say you are going to do. From this point on, I will pay extra and use a different carrier. I think we need to get someone in there to run this right way and start putting the customers first instead of seeing how much more they can get from us.

The box was packed so that the items would not shift during transport but my dad reported that most of the seams from it had been torn opened and re-taped. The only notice from the post office was that it had been repaired at Greensboro's facility. I had not purchased insurance as the items were not fragile. So I have no claim that I can make that would be accepted even though my package was completely mishandled. Further research shows that the items are more than likely going to auction. They are new books and not jewelry or something, but I expect that things that are mailed will arrive in their entirety and without damage. Not unreasonable, I thought.

It has not arrived, and according to my local post office they can not track it because I did not purchase a confirmation of shipment. Using my insurance label number, it was traced to Columbia, SC on December 16th. Now I'm told by my local post office that the Columbia SC Post Office will not answer their phone or return calls.
Now you want me to file my on claim online and list what was in my package and provide receipts, why? I purchased insurance, you guys lost it, and you tell me it can't be traced. Now you want me to provide proof of cost. The contents can not be replaced. The cost does not matter because you are the ones that failed to provide services paid for. I purchased insurance on the package for the cost of the contents of said package. I wanted my package delivered. When I turned it over to you it was you that was responsible for the package. There was no delivery of the item, nothing. It was not out for delivery, but it was just scanned through at the sort facility. This was shipped on 12/20/11.
I called the office and they told me that no information was available. It's been 15 days now. They gave me a Case# and told me that someone would call me back, but there was no call back. I called them three times and then was referred to the escalations department. I was told that if I did not purchase insurance, I am out of luck. What!
I had to pay extra to ask the delivery person to ask for receipt confirmation and signature. This way, I could see if after it was delivered it was broken, or if it was stolen after delivery by leaving at the door. It's in the hands of the shipper until they are signed for by the receiver. So, I hand my item to a shipper. I pay the shipper to deliver and I have to pay for confirmation and signature required. The response I get is I am out of luck. Really!
I am out of luck because it was lost at your sort facility. I am out of luck because I handed you my children's gift and paid you to take it from me. It never left USPS! I think some restitution is in order. In addition, the customer service people at the escalations number were rude. They did not care at all and acted as if I was an inconvenience.
I am so upset. Those where my children's Christmas gifts. What else can I do? This is ridiculously wrong. Looking online, I see that this is a typical behavior for USPS. I mistakenly sent all of my holiday packages via USPS this year ,2011. I sent a priority mail package to my Grandmother in Texas from Denver, CO on December 14, 2011. It should have arrived in two to three days, but she still hasn't received it. It's obviously just lost. I grieve the fact that this package was filled with crafts and pictures, homemade by my four children. Not a single item can be replaced. I didn't insure the package since it didn't carry a huge monetary value, but priority mail means priority.
I paid almost $15 for this package to get lost. Before I knew the USPS had lost my package, I mailed another flat-rate priority package to my sister-in-law who is mentally ill. It was full of individually wrapped Christmas presents. I mailed it on Monday, December 19, and was told it would take at the most three days to arrive. I mailed it to New Mexico from Denver. The clerk even joked that I could drive it because it was only a ten-hour drive.
Of course, it didn't arrive until the end of the postal holiday, December 27, 2011, so she had nothing to open on Christmas. Another package I mailed to Ft Collins, CO, a mere 45-minute drive from Denver, which hasn't arrived yet either.
The one I am most concerned about is the package mailed to my Grandmother in Texas because if it has been three weeks, then it is obviously lost. It is filled with precious items that I can't duplicate. I'm so sorry I trusted the post office with it. In the future, I will seek out a UPS or Fed Ex store. Every single item I ordered online with one of these carriers arrived early, in perfect condition.

I was assured that the package would arrive to her by the 31st (which I didn't believe) but I felt confident that it would arrive for her birthday (again wrong). It's now been 6 full working days since I mailed the package and she didn't receive it again today. Two arrived today looking like they had been dropped from a 30 story building. Both were pretty sturdy boxes so this is completely inexcusable. After inspecting box #1, several items were missing, more was damaged and overall, I figured it to be around $175. The box was also quite empty, which is interesting because when I packed it, it was completely full. I'm still unsure of the items missing from the box because I didn't think this would happen over the shipping process so I didn't document every item I packed. I've seen boxes arrive somewhat beat up but these boxes look beyond damaged. They literally look like the delivery truck flipped over and all the contents rolled down the highway, got run over a few times by a semi truck and then rolled down the side of a mountain.

After searching for months, I accepted a last-minute job offer which required steel toe boots. After searching unsuccessfully for something within my price range in my area, I ended up ordering a pair of boots online and having them "overnight shipped" at extra cost. This should have put them at my doorstep several days before the start of my new job.
I ordered the steel toed shoes on December 29th 2011, I checked the company's website first thing December 30th and my shoes had already shipped. However, January 31st (a day on which there was mail) came and went, no shoes. Neither did they come January 2nd (I heard sometimes express packages are still delivered on Postal holidays).
I was supposed to start work tomorrow (again after months of searching for full time employment!) at 7am and now do no not have the necessary equipment to accept the job. I am so angry right now. The USPS is a joke, but the money they cost me that I could have used to support my family of 8 is not!

It's a few miles away from where I live (NYC), but then the package was sent to California distribution office and from there, it's lost. It has been 30 days and they don't know where it went. Part of the reason is that the USPS employee forgot to enter the 11373 printed on the envelop and they refused to correct their mistake.
USPS has the world's worst delivery service. Within 3 years, they lost my package 3 times (including this time) and once my package was returned to the seller because it has sit in P.O. too long without attempting to deliver or item arrival notification. Do we pay to lose our items?

Package was suppose to be delivered on 12/23/2011, it is now 1/2/2012 and the post office has no idea where the package is. It left the distributor one hour from her on 12/23/2011 and has been missing since.
I filed a report and they told me they will investigate and call me within two days. They did call me and said they knew nothing. I went to the post office in person to talk to the supervisor and she told me she was sorry she knew nothing and it will get there someday that i just have to sit around and wait. Are you ** kidding me! I asked if I can file an insurance claim, it is past the guaranteed 5 days and they don't know where the package is even at. She told me no, because it was not lost.
What is the definition of lost? So, now I'm out $150 in presents plus the $8 shipping and now I can not talk to my niece because the foster parents think I lied about sending it. Thanks for being rude and completely unhelpful Post Office!

The mail delivery service to our area is atrocious. Mail delivered to wrong mailbox, lost mail, if the mail gets delivered at all. The only thing efficient out of the Post Office in Claremore, Oklahoma is stopping mail service. If you submit a stop service it stops but you play heck getting it started again. I will not do business with anyone who delivers utilizing USPS because I will not get my package. If I do, I have to drive the 10 miles to the post office to get it myself. I have had the postman hand me one of their cards stating, "Sorry, you weren't home so we were unable to deliver your package." I have mailed packages to myself, arrived home three weeks later and still no packages.
I didn't get them for nearly 3 months, until I went to the Post Office and they found them in the back. I am removing my mailbox and refusing service from USPS. I will utilize competitors from now on. Better to pay more for guaranteed service. Why am I writing this? My daughter-in-law's father mailed her a package. He didn't know better than to send it using USPS. The postman delivered it alright. We found it in the ditch in the mud right where our neighbor watched him throw it. In my opinion this deliver like all the others that didn't get delivered is an example of USPS fraud! This is why we need to privatize mail delivery. Dissolve what is now the USPS.
Also, I like how they insulate themselves from problems. Try to file a complaint. You get an uncaring voice or you can submit and email. I have written (like many others) to the Postmaster for Claremore without a response. They don't care.

Once again, this local post office says they delivered mail when they did not nor do they return calls made to them to try and problem solve. They lose packages, deliver mail that belongs to other customers, are rude and unprofessional. I have reported this to USPS more than a couple of times (which solved nothing but requested a survey to be taken) only after attempting to receive a call back from the local post office manager/supervisor. They do not return customer calls but did send out a hand delivered "dog" letter which had nothing to do with my concerns over them losing my mail and delivering mail that is not mine.
How convenient. This letter was placed down the mail slot. Usually the mail carriers just leave mail hanging out of the (ample) mail slot and heaven forbid, it's a windy day because then I have to hunt for mail all over the porch/lawn. The letter they sent me was just to hassle me for speaking up. I find the letter retaliative in nature (because I did speak up) as they warned me this was the 2nd and final notice I would receive (never received a 1st one) and that they would hold my mail for 10 days as I was instructed to comply and sign the letter and return it to them.
Of course, I did not sign anything as this stupid letter had absolutely nothing to do with helping me to find the whereabouts of my mail/package they claimed to have delivered. They were hassling me for calling them and expressing my disappointment in the way they fail to handle delivery of mail appropriately and their lack of concern for customers concerns. It's not about the holiday rush as to the whereabouts of the lost mail items, they are careless as a way of being.
One day, I received 13 pieces of mail that were addressed to other customers, received packages with the inside item stolen but wrapped with mail tape & they have claimed to have attempted to leave packages at my door and leaving a notice instead but they never left any attempt to deliver notice as I was there and the carrier did not have a package with them. They are an inferior group of individuals who clearly show they could care less about doing their jobs with a little integrity if nothing else and they sure as dirt don't care about the public they serve.

My complaint is regarding priority mail flat rate envelope service (specifically from Western and North Central, Kansas to Jackson, Michigan).
On Friday 12/9 I sent a priority mail flat rate envelope from the post office in Oberlin, Ks to Jackson, MI. I paid the additional $0.70 for delivery confirmation. Expected delivery was Monday, 12/12. Monday came and went. Tuesday came and went; envelope was not received. Checking online, calling USPS and calling the actual post office it was mailed from would only confirm that the envelope was dispatched to the sort facility in Oberlin on 12/10 at 11:30 am. No scanning after that.
The envelope was finally received in Jackson, MI on Thursday 12/15 (where it was scanned at 4:20 am). I had the same experience with a priority mail flat rate envelope mailed from the post office in Tribune, Ks on Friday, 12/23. Expected delivery was Tuesday, 12/27. Again nothing received on Tuesday or Wednesday, and again the only tracking information available was that the envelope was dispatched to the sort facility in Tribune on Friday, 12/23 at 3:24 pm. No other scanning occurred until it was received in Jackson, MI on Thursday 12/29 at 4:24 am.
The same location that I was sending this correspondence to sent me a letter on Wednesday, 12/22 via first class mail and I received it on Saturday, 12/24. How can it be that first class mail can be received in 2-3 business days but priority mail takes 5 business days?! I have, four times now. The first few times, I would quickly get mail back saying I had not forwarded the originals.
One can only send the original of the postal receipt and the insured confirmation form once, as after that, one has to send copies. Each time the PO responds, they give me 30 days to reply or the case is dropped. I cannot get anyone to act on this insurance claim. I am the victim but have become the accused. It is now 8 days later, and no letter has shown up. I have no tracking number as the "Notice of a Letter requiring a Signature" had to be signed and returned to the postman.

On 12/13/11, I mailed a package, priority mail, to my son at the following address:
xxxx *** Way
Phoenix, AZ 85042
The package was returned today (12/23/11) as unclaimed. He has lived there and been receiving mail there for more than four years. However, his current mail delivery person has failed to deliver this (or any mail), marking letters and packages as unclaimed/unable to forward.

How the post office ruined my family's Christmas: I didn't go home for Christmas this year; so, I mailed my family their packages through the USPS on December 13. One package arrived just fine from Monticello, FL to Mooresville, NC by the following Tuesday. The other package to the same exact address was sent to Federal Way, WA scanned in on December 21. No one seems to be able to tell me where the package is or when it will be delivered to Mooresville, NC except that it probably won't be before Christmas. Tried the 800 # for customer service. This is just an electronic answering service that loops you back around. I'm wondering if there are actual people working at the USPS since no one answered at the district office in Jacksonville, FL either (out for the Holidays). I never really doubted the USPS delivery before but, now I don't even trust them to send my regular bills or letters. Once ,again our tax dollars at work. Thanks a lot USPS. Hope you had a merry Christmas.

**** would rate negative stars. I went into local USPS office and I was given a list of mailing options, I chose 2-business days, it being Tuesday morning before Christmas for $10.35 then the next option was quite higher for express. I agreed 2-business would be Thursday, okay. I have a paid receipt that confirmed this. It costs more to ship this mug which is 2 lbs than buy it! Whatever! Well, as of this day, 3 of the mails came yet. My friend has not received the package! What? Why did I pay so much for priority? I was told of no delays, nothing. By all rights and false advertising, they said Thursday but neither Thursday nor Friday. Now what? I hate the USPS. Never again! The government facility ****. They lie, lie, and lie.

I had a Christmas present purchased from Megahobby.com for my roommate. Instead of it being mailed to my current address, it was mailed to my previous address (which was actually google's fault). Regardless I have put in a change of address form and it has been on file for over a year. I called the local USPS office and they confirmed it was delivered to the wrong address and told me on three different occasions that they would go to the residence and check for it and all three times they failed to. I spoke to the same person all three times and when I asked him why it wasn't already done, he said "we forgot, but we will check today". Now since it was delivered to the wrong place (even though they had my correct info on file) and they failed to check for the package when I called in time for it to be found and put under our Christmas tree, I now have no gift to give my roommate.

I mailed a package off on 12-16-11 which was supposed to be a priority mail. The kids still have not received the package and no can tell me any thing about it. I didn’t get a tracking number so it’s just money lost. I paid over $25.00 for it to be sent out.

On 12/20/11, I was waiting on a package to arrive for my 10 year old son for Christmas. The post lady arrived, I observed her from the window putting mail in my box in front of the house. My daughter walked outside as the post lady was driving away. There was only mail in the box. I was concerned and did a tracking on the package. I discovered that she scanned the package being delivered at the right time but did not leave it at my residence.
I spoke to the post lady on 12/22/11 and asked her if she could remember where she delivered the package, she gave me the attitude like she did not care. My 10 year old son burst in tears. He waited over a year for this item. It was possible that this post woman may have stolen my son's only Christmas gift. I am so depressed and upset about this because I do not have any money to buy him another gift.

It could not be worse. Our regular postman of 5 years was taken off our route in November 2011. Since then, we have had a floater. It was disastrous. One of my letters was found in the West Building although it was written East. The following week, a letter of mine was found in the "deceased" Christmas cards. A registered ** was sent across town to a ** Building. We have a new floater every day. We never know when the mail comes at 11 or 7-9 at night. I have to drive clear across town to pick up registers because no one informs me. This is very questionable service. Maybe the government should give their non-functioning postal service to Wal-Mart.

I have a tracking number for a package (**) that, when checked online, says it was delivered to my old address and that I "moved left no address" even though my mail is being forwarded and was sent back to the sorting facility. There is also a second package that whose tracking number says it was delivered on the 9th of this month but it wasn't ( **). One package is lost, possibly stolen by the mail-person; the other is probably about to be returned to sender. Help, I need these!

I placed an order 12/19 from a company in California to Illinois and the info said if I used the priority box shipping, it would take 2 to 3 days. Well, it has been the 4th day and nothing has came to me. Honestly, I'm never going to use USPS shipping ever again. Should be able to give 0 stars but you can't.

I’m a personal assistant and the mailbox of my client is stuck. There's too much mail and I can’t get to it. I called to see if they could take it out for me and hold it. She said, "Oh, 370 again, go wait there for him.“ I told her I could not take off work to wait for several hours at a mailbox. Kian said he'd be there at 2 pm. His schedule actually shows that he comes at 11 for that block. Kian **** started yelling at me about how that was not their job and how I shouldn’t be letting the mail go unchecked.
She would not answer my simple questions for minutes and she was just totally rude telling me off. This is the 3rd time she's done this to me. When I call the post office, I told her to stop and that I am an assistant and I cannot control when this happens. Indeed, this was part of her job. My client goes away on business often and this happens sometimes. There is no reason for me to be yelled at and reprimanded. She's done this with my client as well. I believe she told me to wait at 2 pm because she was upset because the mailman's schedule shows he comes at 11 am.

I put in an online change of address two weeks before we moved in October. Since then I have received no new mail at my new house. I have been waiting for a rebate card to come in the mail since August. When I contacted the company about it, they said the card was delivered to my old address, activated, and used. When I contacted the old post office about it, they said they never received a change of address notification, and had been holding mail for me for two months because they didn't know where to send it. They have sent all my mail back. So now I'm not only having to fight with the company about my rebate check, I also have to worry about what other mail some strange person has opened since the post office has neglected to do what they were supposed to do.

Wow, they force you to give one star--they deserve none! Now I wish I was this before. I ordered gifts last week and paid for the upcharge of priority mail. They went to a sort facility and there either they sit or that’s what the lame data shows it as. The same day I ordered from a number of other businesses. Those packages were all sent free or for much less and the tracking and delivery went so smoothly and I have those gifts in my possession. The priority mail ones. Joke, scam. They deserve to all go out of business if that is how they operate! Not knowing a thing about the packages status and after speaking to people that were totally ignorant and uncaring, I will be forced to buy more gifts.

After ordering merchandise from a vendor with said parcel posted on December 14th, 2011, my delivery (priority mail, insured with delivery confirmation) was due to arrive on December 17, 2011. From the Baton Rouge, LA sorting facility (after being scanned in), it was misrouted to Denham Springs, LA. The mistake was realized and was scanned out of the Denham Springs, LA facility and sent back to Baton Rouge, LA sorting facility for proper routing. Since the December 18, 2011 no updates have been posted on the USPS tracking website.
I have called the Gonzales, LA facility for help and although those I spoke with were understanding, I was given the same repeated excuses and my calls were not returned as promised. I have called the Denham Springs, LA facility for help and those I spoke with were very sympathetic (with one worker admitting to me she'd had items stolen by USPS workers before), although they were not able to help besides providing confirmation that my parcel was scanned out and sent back the Baton Rouge, LA sorting facility.
Any and all attempts to contact USPS personnel at the Baton Rouge, LA was to no avail as no one would pick up the phone. The voice mailbox was full and transfers to an attendant also failed. It is the December 22, 2011 and I have received no updates as to my situation. The USPS has lost my confidence in every way at this point. I clearly see that there is a very valid reason that USPS is slowly going bankrupt, and my case (as well as many others listed here) is just "more par for the course". Ineptitude, lack of professionalism, dishonesty, inability to help customers beyond what a tracking website has to say as well as the lack of motivation/drive/desire to help paying customers will drive the USPS further into a failing/bankrupt status. I will never use the USPS again!
