The postal delivery persons abuse the locks on the multi-boxes in the apartments. They almost destroyed our box locks so that the boxes couldn't lock. After months of pleading for permission to get them repaired, the management finally agreed. After the boxes were repaired, the post person left the sets of boxes just hanging open. The one said the locks didn't work properly and said I should ask the post office for them to send out a post office lock repairman. Two months later, he did show up, changed a few locks and tightened the others, all destroyed by the abuse of the delivery persons, and said they were okay.

The next day, a few of the boxes were left ajar. The following day, I asked the carrier why the boxes were ajar. He said that they didn't close easy enough. He slammed the door against the catch several times, then used his key, turned the lock, slammed it (this time it closed) and said, "I guess you have to turn the lock to close it too, not just open it." Dahh! Well it started again; the boxes are left ajar... again. A new carrier or the other one forgot, but that was three days in a row. I guess I have to start this process all over again... and you wonder why the PO is going broke? The old carriers are now managing the money - very unhappy manager. :((

I sent a piece of porcelain Priority Mail. I am absolutely furious. I just received a call from the person I sent it to that he actually took a picture of the box because he was sure the item would be damaged inside. The box was smashed and ripped open. I had double boxed the item, padded the box well and used tons of packing tape. Thankfully, the piece was not damaged. It cost me over 15 dollars to send this. It is disgraceful that they would deliver it that way. That is not priority shipping. FedEx has my vote from now on. No wonder the Post Office is in the shape they are in!

Since I moved, I went online and paid the $1 to USPS' online forwarding service to have my mail forwarded. It asked me if would like to forward Individual or Family. I chose individual since my mother will still be receiving mail at the usual location. A couple months went by. I received a few pieces of mail to my new address, but my mom is still getting most of my mail and having forwarded it to me herself. I talked to my original address USPS office. They said they don't forward separate people's mail! Why did USPS even ask, take my $1 and confirm my mail would be sent separately as they knew they don't do this!?

I am one of the many that is held hostage by the "money losing" local USPS. The letter carrier is unprofessional (knocks over trash cans because they are in the way of his truck, throws rubbish out of his truck and is very rude). I have had three lost items and one severely damaged item over three years. I tried to go to the supervisor (about lost and damaged items) of the local PO just to be told they would research it and nothing came of it. I have seen the letter carrier on several times push over trash cans so he could drive directly up to the mailbox (3 or 4 feet). Talk about lazy!

What happened to the time when the letter carriers walked some of the route? I understand why the USPS is going bankrupt - inefficiency and employees that refuse to do a job. My letter carrier has the attitude that I should be privileged that I am getting service from him. I, as a consumer, pay the USPS for a service (many, many times) and if I had a choice for using a different carrier for my mail, I would jump at the chance. What can be done with vengeful and unprofessional USPS mail carriers?

A priority mail package was to be delivered Wednesday. The tracking note said delivery was attempted, but no one was at home. Wrong! USPS tried to deliver to a different apartment, left the notice on a different apartment about pickup at local post office the next day. When the person went to the post office the next day, they were told the package was still on truck and could not be retrieved. Now, the postman won't deliver it because it was supposed to be at post office, nor would it be available for pick up until who knows when. I called in the 800 number to speak with someone. The phone system is so ridiculous, it took me 15 minutes to figure out a way to speak with a real person. This person listens to me, repeats the info on the tracking page, and upon asking for further help, says she will transfer me to an agent but instead, she hangs up on me. I hope the postal service dies. Not only do they have the most irresponsible service, but also poor customer service skills. The government needs to shut down the postal services. It's running a loss anyway.

Last month, I received my college diploma in the mail with one bend roughly one inch long and another bend roughly three inches long. It came in a cardboard envelope that had "Do Not Bend" printed on it in big red letters. At first, I ignored the situation because it only made me angry, but after some thought and research, I find the experience wholly unacceptable. A search for "USPS bent my diploma" on any internet search engine turns up plenty of horror stories from people who had the same thing happen to them. I did not spend years of my life and thousands of dollars to receive a bent degree because someone was too lazy to read.

I sent a certified return receipt letter. It was lost in the Austin distribution center. Never recovered. I made at least 10 phones calls trying to get someone to find my lost mail as it was a very important letter. No one was able to tell me where my letter was. I finally sent a letter to Washington, DC and they sent me a letter back saying my mail was lost forever, but to take the letter they had written me back to the post office with my original receipt and get my $5.60 back. I wound up mailing another letter, without some of the documents that were lost, by FedEx. It got there. Well, I had to mail another packet. It was going to a PO box so FedEx couldn't send it. So as much as I dreaded it, I sent it through the post office, priority mail.

To no surprise to me, it was lost too! I searched my tracking number. It's stuck in a distribution center in Dallas. It was supposed to arrive at the destination on May 15. Today is the 22nd and it's still in the distribution center. I called the main number on Monday (three days ago) and they put me through to the supervisor who said she'd call me back by the end of the next business day. I haven't received a call yet. I paid about $25 to copy all the documents in that packet. I was supposed to have it to the destination in 10 days. This was a life changing packet for me and my family, and I am so screwed! I can't believe this is happening again!

I have recently started drawing unemployment in KY. Now, I depend on this bi-weekly check to help support my family. Well, I live 20 miles from Frankfort where my check comes from and it takes on average 3-5 days to receive it after they mail it 20 miles away. I thought you guys used trucks and planes nowadays, not Pony Express. The postal service has got to realize we live in a day in time where speed is everything and you all continue to raise prices for slower service. I guess that's normal government at work.

I have had such a horrible experience with USPS lately! I mail items out all the time being a seller on Etsy, eBay and Listia and never have had so many problems in the period of 1 month than in my entire life of mailing things at 37 years old! First, I mailed an item to Hamlet, NC and the tracking number says it has been sitting in Jersey City, New Jersey since May 7, today being May 21st. I tried calling the New Jersey office and was given a number that was disconnected. So I tried another location in Jersey City and no one even answered the phone; it rang off the hook.

So I called the main office there and was given a 1 800 number. I called here and sat on hold for 45 minutes with no answer which I have a screen shot of the number with waiting time so I'm not at all exaggerating. I finally discovered an iPhone app that waits on hold for me and calls me back when a human customer service person is available (This ended up working great - no hold time). I spoke to a person who told me that it would be investigated and USPS would call me back with results the very next day. I was then given a ref #. Well, I'm going on a whole week later now and still no phone call!

I called back today and they told me to call USPS consumer affairs to report my situation which I did do early today and there was no answer, just a machine that said, "Leave a message." So I left a message and got no phone call back and now they are closed for the day. I am being threatened by this woman that was supposed to get her package and says she never did, that she is calling her lawyer and is going to sue me and because I didn't just agree with her to refund her money and looked into having it investigated instead, the shop that I sold the item from Etsy is now saying that if I do not make her happy no matter what it takes to do so, they are suspending my shop privileges and I can no longer sell on the website.

This is just the worst of 3 situations I have had in the last month. I have now financially lost over $300 in merchandise! Not only the value of the items, $300, has been lost, but I have also lost out on the money to ship these items and my good standing with eBay and Etsy and any future sales I would have made on Etsy along with negative feedback on my eBay account now! This has really financially put me in a large hole and being a struggling single mom who doesn't have money to burn and does this as a full time job, this has really ruined my life!

Carrier went out of his way to deliver a package labeled with a Business name to a resident's home. Package was addressed to ** / Carol ** at **, Upland, CA 91786 but delivered it to a man on ** in Upland. Names are not even close no matter how you look at it. The postmaster would not ask the carrier since he was filling in for the regular carrier to come back from vacation first. What is the regular carrier going to know if she has been on vacation?! He refused to do anything at all about this situation. This is not the first time. That same week, mail was stolen for the same PO route or mail delivered was not received even though it showed it was. No one will answer the phone at the PO office. It rings and rings until it disconnects.

This package was scanned as delivered about 1 pm on May 2 by the carrier who did not even go into the place of business during his entire fill in. He just skipped over it saying he didn't know he had to go in. The business had to take their mail going out to the PO themselves that week. Obviously, he is part of the thefts and the Postmaster refuses to do anything about it.

I filed a complaint with the PO on May 3rd but again crickets, **, also with the Inspector General's Office and again crickets. Oh wait, I did get a survey questionnaire. Now I am trying this avenue but I doubt it will help either. I'm trying to make a living and how can I do that if I can't rely on a service to deliver mail. I am afraid to send anything to that business or area again so I am pulling my business out of there since I rely on the mail service. I cannot afford to take a gamble each time I mail something and I don't believe I should. Don't even dare ask about insurance because that just sends the wrong message!

We have to pay insurance to insure our mail is delivered; otherwise it will not be? What does that say? I paid for the delivery service. Okay and now I have to pay extra to make sure I get a signature to show it was delivered but then it messes things up because they could say they couldn't get a signature and return it to me and then I have to do it all over again. I want the carrier punished, the post master and the thief arrested for mail theft. I know none of this will happen and nothing will be done about this since I am just one person and it was a small package of not much value to anyone but me and I am just to suck up the loss. Collateral damage as in war, right?

Now I see why the post office is under threat of being terminated. It is not a service to the country but a hindrance. I say this even with my sister-in-law being a postmaster of a small New England town. But her Post Office and those like it have an edge above city offices. They care and and they do their job. Why does this post office refuse to do anything except avoid this issue? I have attached 2 photos showing the contents in the package.

I googled the branch locations for zip code 95825 and the Arden branch came up with a phone number of 916-574-3005 (hours of operation: 9AM-6PM PST). I called this number and it was busy. I tried over and over again for an hour and still a busy signal. I called the 800 number for the USPS that could confirm my package was at the Arden branch at 2801 Arden Way Sacramento, CA 95825, but she had no way of connecting me to the branch. I phoned the branch again over the past thirty minutes and still a busy signal.

This is unacceptable. When you have a business offering customer services such as the United States Postal Service, there needs to be a clean form of communication. It has now been over an hour and a half and I am still unable to contact someone at this USPS location.

It's been 3 mo. since my two boys' monthly bank statements has not been delivered. I called and spoke to the new post mistress. She told me to contact my bank, which I did, but I know for a fact, that I never made any changes to my boys' address. As far as I can see, the address is the same in the window on their bank statements.

I've had my bank hold one of the return statements and upon looking on the envelope, there is a yellow sticker on it saying Return to Sender - non-deliverable as addressed; unable to forward. Now, the name and address on this envelope is correct. Why, all of a sudden, is it non-deliverable?

Before this new post mistress came on board, I had to fill out a form and bring all of my info up to date. The only change that I have made was changing my last name because I had gotten remarried. Still, I instructed and kept my old name on the list just in case I have some mail w/ my prior name. My two boys have my prior name and the same address as I do. Nothing else has changed, but yet, after 3months, there are still no bank statements. My bank says they are sending them out, as I have instructed them to. Till today, I have not yet seen any. I'm also unsure of other mail that I'm not receiving.

I've finally decided that I would pay the annual box fee and switch to another P.O. box in another town. Upon entering the out-of-town PO, I noticed the same lady working in there too. So now, I'm stuck staying where I am.

The thing is, I would've just been satisfied w/ an apology. But instead, they made like it was my fault that my box was full, or my bank's fault, maybe they changed the address, but totally not their fault. So I brought the non-deliverable bank statement and showed it to the post mistress. She couldn't explain what could have happened, and asked me what month the statement is dated. I showed her and it was for the month of February. And being that I am so upset, because there was not one apology from them, I just responded to her, that the month is so irrelevant; the fact of the matter is, that I'm not receiving my boys' monthly statements, and who knows what else. That is what upsets me.

Thank you very much for your time in this matter.

I would like to lodge a complaint against the U.S. Postal Service located out of Springfield, MO. Anytime I send a greeting card in a colored envelope to my family in south central Missouri, it never arrives (Other correspondence that should take 3 days to deliver from Nashville, Tennessee, often takes a week or longer to arrive - if it does at all). The only way I can be assured that my family who have their mail processed through Springfield, MO actually receives a greeting card is to hide it in a 6 x 9 Manila envelope - which then arrives with no problems. This incompetent and suspicious performance has been going on for years but seems to have escalated dramatically in the last year or two. I believe that an investigation into potential employee improprieties would go a long way towards improving this center's effectiveness and restoring public confidence in USPS.

We are a small company shipping goods across the United States from Washington state. We manufacture a device for horticulture which includes a stand made from wood. It is made from 2x2s with 1x3 bracing. It is fastened by screws. It is strong enough to hold a tank with 12 gallons of water. Despite the consideration that this should be strong on its own, it is packed in the shipping carton with rolled up newspaper packed tight. One would think that such an item should be fairly impervious to damage but to be safe, we place two large fragile stickers on the carton and insure for $400. Despite these precautions, the USPS handlers have managed to break about 15% of all units shipped. To break these would take very rough handling and complete disrespect for one's job and for the customer, who, in our case, is just someone else trying to make a living. Interestingly, we have shipped a few units in Canada using their postal service and not one unit has been damaged. Shame on you, USPS!

On 4/29/13, I mailed first class parcel, weight 8.50oz, with tracking #** from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Expected delivery was 5/2/13. At 9:00am on 5/2/13, I asked my sister to track the package via her smart phone because my mother was concerned if it would arrive before she leaves for therapy. She wanted to show them the pictures from the St. Lucia wedding of her proud grandson, the doctor, and her new granddaughter, the doctor, along with all the other celebrities, including football players. My sister reported that the tracking stated the package had arrived in Philadelphia on Wednesday at 11:38am and was expected to be delivered to my mother on Thursday 5/2/13, and that was the same information as to delivery date that I had. By 5:00pm or sometime thereafter, when the UPS man was in my mother's block and she did not receive her package, she immediately telephoned me again.

I then called my sister requesting again that she check the status of the tracking, and she did. This time to our amazement, it stated that the package had been delivered to my mother's home on Wednesday 5/1/13 at 11:38am. Well, this was impossible because for one, the package did not arrive in Philadelphia until that time on Wednesday and also my mother did not receive her mail that day until way after 5:00-6:00pm that evening. Also, she and her grandson were home all day never leaving out the home. Upon learning of this information, I telephoned (800) 275-8777 reaching a very nice lady named Stephanie and explained to her my situation. She provided me with valuable resources including the telephone number to my mother's postal office district for contacting on Friday 5/3/13 due to time of day and office was closed.

I called the Philadelphia office at (215) 472-3607 on Friday 5/3/13, spoke with Greta and explained the matter at hand. Greta put me on hold while she checked the shelves. She added that she had problems with this carrier (Wayne **) all the time and he is under investigation. Greta also informed me that she could not contact him that morning because he had left his cell phone at the post office. She also informed me that he would not be delivering mail on my mother's route on this Friday 5/3/13. Greta took my telephone number and told me she would inquire where he scanned the large envelope full of pictures that are priceless. She provided me with contact information for Postal Inspectors, (877) 876-2455. I contacted them after speaking with Greta and spoke with Kaye who took a report providing me with a case # **.

No one has attempted to resolve my problem. Greta has failed to give me any assistance. When I called on Monday 5/6/13, she informed me she forgot to ask Wayne about my package and the rest of my calls have been going to just ringing with no one answering the telephone. On Friday 5/10/13, my mother received two pieces of wrong mail with two different addresses on them. I've attempted to telephone Greta to alert her of this matter and to see if my mother's envelope is at one of the addresses since it is similar to hers, but no one will answer the telephone. I also telephoned the Consumer Affairs office in Philadelphia at (215) 863-6060 on Friday 5/10/13 leaving the required information. To date, no one has returned my call. So now, I'm trying the good ole email system. My mother does not have the photos of her grandson's wedding that took place in St. Lucia.

Last August 20-22, 2012, I shipped about 18 boxes of books from Utah to a new apartment in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In spite of all of them being taped and labeled the same way in permanent black ink on the lid of the boxes with easy-to-read block lettering, three of the boxes did not make it. I received one lid of the three boxes and was told to wait about 2-3 weeks before filling out a search form. I did so, including as many of the book titles and color copies of as many of the books and especially my high school yearbooks which I printed from off the internet. I was told to wait 90 days. So I waited. I did not receive anything back. I thought, "Well, Christmas is approaching. Maybe they are backlogged."

So I waited until January and in the meantime found out that items which cannot be returned to owners are auctioned off. But I was naive and optimistic that something of my over 70 books would be returned because at least 25-40% of them had my name inside the front covers. I wrote to their mailing address and tried calling the phone number given to see if I could get a hold of anyone; I could not. No one wrote back. I also contacted a law firm in Albuquerque through Legal Shield, who wrote a letter asking for them to communicate with me, and no one wrote back to that letter either. I waited another month in case they were backlogged still but finally had to submit an insurance claim, only to be told that I was outside of the 6-month waiting period and wouldn't be reimbursed. A week or so later, on April 1, I was sent 2 out of 3 reimbursement checks for the insurance value of the books.

Then I found out from the Atlanta Journal Constitution that the Lost Mail Department would now be going through GovDeals.com to auction off books and other items. Guess what? That is an unconstitutional business decision, because it was not approved by Congress or the President, and it means that people will now have to search for their own items in large bulk lots on GovDeals.com because the USPS gets paid more by not finding your lost items. I wrote 105 emails to Senators across the country and worked through Senator Tom Udall to complain more directly. Guess what? I got two letters from two different departments apologizing but saying "Well, the Post Office is doing the best they can." Really? The photos on GovDeals.com in April seemed to indicate the way the lost mail department sorts books is by soft cover and hard cover only, not anything else.

In other words, if your books are lost and they are not on top of the big piles of books in boxes, they won't be found. No wonder the USPS is putting themselves into bankruptcy faster and faster because no other business would be allowed to confiscate customers' property and sell it off like that. They do a few feel good stories of finding things like some lady's bridesmaid dresses, but what they should be doing is returning a simple majority of 51% or more of customers' legally shipped items. If they find illegally shipped items, they are more than welcome to confiscate them, but personal items with owners' names on them should not be auctioned off. Otherwise, they are committing insurance fraud. Hold your Senators accountable for the Post Office's way of doing business. Georgia has had the lost mail department since the 1950s and the other lost mail departments were closed in the past few years, which means Atlanta does not have any accountability when it comes to items with resale value.

We all have the exact same experiences. The USPS continues to complain about losing money. They need to hire an outside consultant to fix what is wrong. Third party shippers (FedEx, UPS, and DHL) would never tolerate the incompetence that you see at the USPS. Don’t get me wrong. There are some very qualified, helpful and talented USPS workers, but it’s less than 50%. What business operates with 50% deadwood? Just walk into 10 post offices; you'll be served by a disgruntled and indifferent postal worker 50% of the time. I'm done using them for shipping purposes. They remind me of the kid in elementary school who would spend more time making excuses for what he couldn't do rather than do it.

My mail was forwarded to my parent's house. Then I placed a change of address about three months later. My father and I have the same name except I am a junior and he is a senior. After two times of talking with someone at the post office about this matter, my father's mail is being returned to sender and I get some of his mail with my address on it now. I am not even sure if I get all of my mail. Needless to say, my father is now not getting bills he needs to pay and it now may be affecting his credit.

This is absurd, since I have talked to one of their specialists on three different occasions and I feel they cannot follow even the easiest of instructions. I just wanted them to have the mail addressed to each location go to that location, period. Plus, they have somehow contacted at least one of my father's companies and they have now changed an address to be sent to me. It is his bill. So I am not only angry, but now my father believes it has ruined his credit. I mean come on, folks.

On 5/10 when my pkg didn’t arrive, I called the USPS 800 # and they could only pull up the same information as I could online with the tracking #, but he told me I was due a refund since it wasn't delivered as promised. Today 5/13/13 I told my receipt in to my local post office to get a refund and was told NO because the pkg wasn’t mailed before 3pm, but at the time I mailed it and asked the second time I was told it would be delivered the NEXT day. Since it was late, the shipment was worthless because it got to its destination the day after the recipient needed it. I am not happy with USPS at all and will never pay a high price with them again for overnight delivery. I’m not worried about getting my money back. I just needed the package to be delivered the next day as promised at the time I dropped it off at the post office.

My advice if you don't get any mail including junk mail in two days, call or go to your nearest USPS branch. I've had mail stolen before too, but luckily, I complained enough that my item was returned in an opened package. When filling out forms, don't be specific, be general like used clothes and shoes. You don't have to list iPhone 5 - say a book or something else. Register it too so that there is a tracking number but when shipping expensive things, it's best to go via FedEx. I've never had any negative issues with them.

The mailman signed HIS name to my delivery confirmation, insured: I am writing this letter and it will be mailed to my local post office, the Postmaster General for the United States, eBay, PayPal, Consumer Affairs, my Senator, my Congressman, the Mayor and any other entity until this is straightened out and I receive a satisfactory explanation for what has happened to me. I am out $1,011 ($999 for a purchase and $12 shipping).

In June of 2012 (last summer), I bought a bracelet from an individual in TN. It was bought through eBay and the transaction was paid through PayPal. It was shipped on June 9 from the sender (an individual) in Brentwood, TN. The sender sent me a message through eBay saying that the item should arrive around June 11. The shipper said it was insured and delivery confirmation was required. Expected delivery was June 11, 2012, insured with signature confirmation as proof of delivery.

On Thursday, June 14, I had not received my package nor a pink slip telling me to come to the post office and get it. I went to my PayPal account and got the tracking #. I called the Beechnut Post Office where my mail is delivered from and they gave another # to call. The lady I spoke to said that my package had been signed for but it wasn't my name she said. I then went to the USPS website and put in the Tracking #:

"Your Item's Status: Your item was delivered at 12:32 pm on June 11, 2012 in Houston, TX 77083. The item was signed for by **. Information on this item has been restored from offline files (** is my mailman)." And got the signature; it said ** and underneath the name in parenthesis it said (mailman).

On Friday, June 15th, I went to the post office and Mr. ** (who I thought was the head person for that post office) on the Beechnut center where my mail comes from helped me. He insisted that there was a key in my mailbox which was to open one of the boxes on the side. We don't have mailboxes in front of our houses; they are at the corner. I told him those boxes had not worked for at least 15 years but he insisted that that was where my package was and that I had to go and check my mailbox for the key. These boxes haven't worked in at least 15 yrs but he didn't believe me.

I went there and there was no key in my box to get it and I went back to the post office. Mr. ** told me to go home and a mail carrier would be by in the next hour. A female mail carrier (the temp one) came by and while she was with me on my driveway, her cell phone rang and it was my regular mail carrier, Mr. **. He informed me that he signed for my package and left it on a red chair on my driveway. At that point, I was really upset and he told me to go back to the post office and speak to Mr. ** again (3rd time).

From June 15 until Monday of last week (May 1st), for 10 months Mr. ** has repeatedly told me that the mail carrier's wages would be garnished and that he would be made to pay me back every 2 weeks until my money was paid back to me. He requested that I give him all of the information from eBay and PayPal and my bank debit showing the amount and the transaction information which I immediately gave him. I also gave him all the copies of the emails from the seller. I gave him this information twice.

He told me that Mr. ** (mailman) knew better than to sign for my package as it was a required signature and a delivery confirmation. He has reiterated many times that he was handling it and that I should not worry as I would receive my money back from the mailman. He would make sure that he paid me.

This whole scenario has gone on now since June of 2012. I would call about every 4 to 6 weeks and speak to Mr. **. He kept telling me that he was working on it. At the end of 2012 in December, he told me that he had sent the paperwork in so that I would be paid. He told me that it will take a while and that the post office does not work very quickly, all along assuring and telling me that he had handled it. In February, I called him and asked him again when I would start to get my money. He told me that he sent the paperwork in and that I would just have to wait. I asked him if he could check and call me back. This was on a Friday. He said he would check and call me back that day. He took my number. He never called that day.

Another 4 weeks passed and I called him in April. In April, I got him and he told me that it was out of his hands and that he sent the information and that I would have to just wait. I reminded him that he told me before that he would check and call me back so I asked him again if he could check. He told me no, he could not check and that I would have to be patient. I said that I would see if I could find out another way to find out and he hung up.

On May 1, 2013, last week, I again called him around 10 in the morning. He came to the phone and said that he had sent the paperwork and to just wait. He told me that he could not check and that it was out of his hands completely. When I balked at what he said, he then very nastily said to me, "I thought you were going to take this to a higher power." I said, "I guess I would have to," and he hung up.

I got out of my seat at work, went to the post office across from my job on Alabama Street in Houston and knocked on the door that said Manager. I told the manager what happened and she gave me a number to Consumer Affairs. I called Consumer Affairs and spoke to a lady. At 4:30, she called me back and told me that the person who sent the package to me had then filed for a lost package and got the $300 insurance for the package that I never received.

Mr. ** told me that the person who sent me the package only insured it for $300 not $999 back when this all happened. I didn't know this when it was shipped because it said Insured. I assumed that it was insured for at least $999. Mr. ** said that the investigators looking into the claim said that something odd was going on with the shipper and that it was being investigated. Why would the shipper insure something for only $300 and it was worth $999? I don't know why the seller did this to me. Insured to me meant it being insured for what I paid for it or what it was worth.

I had sent the shipper an email asking why they only insured it for $300 and not $999. ** who sent it said that I didn't request insurance and that if I had wanted insurance, I should have stated so but the shipper told me that that package was insured. How was I supposed to know that it was only insured for 1/3 of the actual value? If something said insured, I assumed it was insured for the full price, especially a 14K gold bracelet. The seller knew that my package was not delivered so I told him to file a claim and he did. He got the money and kept it. He will not return any of my emails asking for that money when I was the rightful person who should have received it. He wasn't out anything. He was paid for the merchandise and for the lost package. He got $300 more.

So the USPS paid the shipper their $300. That $300 should have been mine. I was the buyer. So now the shipper got my $1,011 plus another $300 and they weren't out a thing. The shipper will not return any of my emails nor did they have the decency to give me the $300 that was rightfully mine.

I complained to PayPal and eBay that I never received my merchandise but in their records, it says it was delivered on June 11 to my house by the mailman who signed for my Delivery Confirmation/Insured package and left it on my driveway. So my claim was closed after it was confirmed that supposedly it was delivered. I live on a main street in a highly busy area of town. Kids walk all day long up and down my street. The mailman knows this and this is the first time in 28 years that something this expensive was ever delivered to my house via USPS. He usually throws some of my packages over a locked iron gate to my entrance.

I don't understand why this time he left something that was insured and had a delivery confirmation putting it in a red chair on my driveway and why he signed for it in the first place. He was not supposed to sign for my package ever and leave it unattended on a chair on my driveway. He was responsible for me getting my package and he left it for somebody else to get or for him to take. I am now suspecting that the mailman took it.

eBay and PayPal should discontinue this customer. The customer lied saying that it was insured when it was only insured for a fraction of the purchase price. The shipper said I should have asked for insurance because it wasn't provided. Before I could even ask, the shipper sent me an email stating that it was insured. So why would I have asked when the email said it was insured? That was a lie and then when it was lost, the seller got the $300 that it was insured for not even giving it to me. I was the one who was out, not the seller. To eBay and PayPal, don't do business with the person any longer. They are dishonest and a liar. They can look into their own records and see that it says Insured.

I don't understand why the mailman did what he did. I don't understand why Mr. ** lied to me for 10 months and told me about garnishing the mailman's wages to pay me when Mr. ** told me that was never going to happen. If you are the post office, you can just lie to people and get away with it! Your supervisor doesn't even know what is going on and what you are telling people. There are no repercussions for lying to the public. The mailman signed my name to my package and dumped it on my driveway.

PayPal and eBay reopened my dispute but it doesn't seem that they want to help me. It seems that Mr. ** should have gotten me and his employee, Mr. **, together and compared stories. Instead he brushed me off telling me that he would call me the next day which was last Saturday - which he never did.

So last Friday, I went to the post office on Beechnut and got Mr. ** (the real head of that post office on Beechnut). He came out and when I told him who I was, he listened to me. I asked him why Mr. ** had told me all along that the mailman's wages would be garnished to pay me back. He told me that that doesn't happen, garnishing the wages of an employee. I asked him why Mr. ** told me that and I didn't understand why he wasn't made aware of what was happening and what Mr. ** had told him. I asked him why his employees are allowed to tell people things that aren't going to happen and that I didn't appreciate Mr. ** lying to me for the last 10 months.

He stated that he received a call from Consumer Affairs. I told him that I was the one who initiated that call because Mr. ** told me that it was out of his hands and that I had said to him that I was going to take this to a higher power. I did; I went to another post office and got the number to Consumer Affairs and called them and told them the story. He said that $300 was paid to the shipper. I asked him why Mr. ** hadn't given me that information. He said nothing except than to write my name, address and a phone number to reach me at on Saturday and that he promised he would call me after he looked into it.

Today is Monday, May 6th, and still no call. I feel that I have been let down all along the way. The mailman signed his name to my package, left it on my driveway and it is taken by someone (maybe him). Then I get Mr. ** who promises to make things right and get my money from the mailman by garnishing his wages. He told me this for 10 months. PayPal and eBay both let me down. The seller got an additional $300 for the mailman signing my name, leaving it on my driveway and my package getting stolen or taken. The USPS paid for the insurance on the package and the shipper got even more money and rightfully, that money was mine. The shipper lied to me saying the package was insured which it was only insured for a third of the value.

It has taken me hours of time to call and write this letter and I feel very victimized to all the entities along the way who had a hand in this transaction mostly the mailman and the post office. But I am out the money. My money and $1,011 is a lot of money to be out. I work very hard for my money and this whole scenario of events just doesn't make any sense to me.

I am expecting a return call, letter email or something from all the people that I am sending this information to. I understand that the post office has little customer satisfaction lately but lying to people for 10 months doesn't make it any better. In their opinion, the customer is never right. And they have no customer service. I have repeated left messages for Mr. ** and Mr. ** and they never called me back. And they don't care what their employees tell the public - anything to appease them and make them go away. And they don't figure out what the problem is or was or what they can do about it. I want some sort of investigation into Mr. ** and the erroneous information that he gave to me for 10 months. I want someone to be accountable for this situation and to make sure this doesn't happen again. Please somebody help me.

I have a friend who is in need of a computer. Since I'm a computer technician, I always have some computers and parts lying around. So I took an old but great tablet laptop computer and improved the hardware for it. Its resale value is about $500 - $600. I then informed my friend I would be sending him it, and he was very grateful and excited.

Yesterday, I took it into my local post office in Chino Valley, Arizona. The package only had to make a quick trip of about 200 miles to Florence, Arizona. I put it in the medium rate priority mail box. I then sent the package off (May 1, 2013). I have sent this friend some supplies before and it was there the very next day at 1 pm. I received a tracking number and felt everything would be fine since I've shipped things through USPS before many times with no issues at all.

On May 1, I looked at the tracking at about 6 pm and was happy to see my package had already been dispatched to a sort facility within hours of me entering it. Today is May 2 and it's currently 7 pm. The expected delivery was today. This morning, I had checked the tracking at about 5 am and saw the package had been dispatched from the sorting facility in Phoenix, Arizona which was fantastic! It was already 3/4 on the way to my friend. 12 hours later, my friend got home and informed me his family member had not signed for any package and no truck had ever come by.

I then logged on my computer to check the tracking. 12 hours later it still says "Depart USPS Sort Facility," and this is 12 hours later! I was almost certain this was a very bad sign. And I was not sure if this means maybe it's not as bad as I think and the driver made a mistake and left it in the truck. But deep down, I had a feeling my package was stolen. I mean, why not grab a quick free $500-$600 computer if your company will never investigate it?

I hold the positive hope that it was just a quick error and will maybe get to my friend in the next day or so. But I am so disappointed. This is not a cheap loss and there were important reasons I sent that computer to my friend. He is in desperate need, and these poor, irresponsible employees are negatively affecting people's lives. I dearly hope it still gets to him, but I will be going in to my post office after a week to attempt and get a refund. I'm still debating whether or not I want to try and send him another one through USPS or not. I'm really considering FedEx or UPS. If anyone has Protips or suggestions, please respond.

I have probably visited a total of 12 different locations and every single one of them are lazy, unmotivated, ignorant and uneducated. I have been overcharged and misled on several occasions too. But what really upset me was when I had two packages in one week delivered damaged. They were both labeled fragile, one labeled liquid. How do you shatter a ceramic vase? Ceramic is not like glass and the fact that it was marked fragile and still shattered pissed me off and of course the buyer said there was no bubble wrap or anything inside the box. WTF! Does that mean I paid USPS for all that bubble wrap just for them to have removed it from the box? Where else did it go? I purchased a tablet on eBay and the seller shipped it from China. Tracking information disclosed that the tablet was delivered on April 12, 2013. I checked my mailbox on April 12, and there were no packages containing the tablet. I spoke with my mail carrier the next day and she remembered delivering several packages to an unknown male who was standing in front of my two-story home near my mailbox. My mailbox is located on the sidewalk, fronting my home. The unknown male accepted the packages and told the mail carrier he was going to deliver them to me. I waited all afternoon, into the night, waiting for my mail delivery. No one came and I found only an empty mailbox.

I do not know this unknown male, nor does he reside at my residence. Now why would the mail carrier just leave my valuable mail to some stranger and expect him to do her job? She gave me a description of the man, but none of my tenants or my friends fit that description. Her reason was, that was her practice, that she has been leaving the mail with whoever was standing at the mailbox waiting for the mail. She does not even ask for any identification or confirmation of their name or place of residence.

I opened an "item not received" case on eBay and was told that delivery confirmation indicated that the item was delivered on April 12, 2013, so the final outcome was in favor for the seller, and no refund was to be made.

Uggghhhh! How can this be happening?! I am out of $100.00 (the price I paid for the tablet), no merchandise, and a mail thief in the neighborhood, in which my mail carrier is an accomplice. I reported this incident to my local post office, and the supervisor Wendy I spoke to said that at this level, there was nothing she can do. I also opened a Mail Theft case with the Postal Inspection Service on 4/17/2013. I am still waiting for a response from them.

For as long as I've been receiving mail and packages, I never had any major problems with either UPS or Fedex. Unfortunately, some items I buy or receive are shipped via USPS. And that to me is a problem. I've had several cases where things should be delivered but never were and I had to take matters into my own hands. One particular case was some grumpy worker not delivering a package, leaving a pick up note, all the while I'm in the house waiting for a knock or doorbell. For me to actually get my package in this case, I had to stand watch at my window and wait for this moron to deliver mail. He did his daily routine but without any package. I immediately confronted him and he says he does not have a package. I did not say or do anything but went into my house just to calm myself. After a few minutes, he comes back and says he has it. That just goes to show you this idiot refuses to do his job. I filed a complaint and that was the end of that.

Now another incident. I have an extended break vacation so I can stay home and sign for anything in this particular case. I was expecting a package and waited and waited and waited for about 11 days until I finally filed a complaint. The next day, the package was supposedly being delivered but a note was left for re-delivery. First off, I am ** home, so why did the worker not do his job and knock and such? I am pissed off at this point but I still signed the paper and left it on my mailbox telling the moron to leave it in the mailbox because apparently he does not like knocking on the door aka doing his job. Also, the note is good but there was no package, and to this moment, I still haven't received it. I filed two complaints for this incident and USPS has done jack ** about it. This goes to show you how ** of a company this is. It's a shame that online stores and people can't resort to using a standard mailing system for UPS, because it would solve my problems. So yes, that is just two incidents in numerous incidents I've had with USPS. If I could I would give them 0 stars.

I ordered services through a well-known and reputable company in Wisconsin. They only ship USPS, and so I figured I would pay for Priority Shipping which on the USPS website states 2- to 3-day delivery. The USPS tracking notes the package was accepted in the Madison, WI sorting facility on the 24th, and as of today, 29 April ‘13, I still have not received said package. I have read some of the other reviews on this site and now I don't feel so bad. Some individuals here have been waiting weeks for a delivery that is nowhere to be found. I can only imagine the level of frustration when upon calling the only place that is supposed to know where your package is, you are met with a runaround.

I have no idea where my package is. It is after the 2- to 3-day delivery time period and when I called (a number of times) the USPS, I was finally told that this service does not have a Money Back Guarantee (as it does not state so on their website) like Overnight and Express. So what I took away from this is that the USPS, which is an "independent organization of the United States Government" (USPS wiki), can charge fees for services they say they will render. And then at the end of the day, when they do not render those services, it doesn't matter because they have your money anyway, regardless of what they say they will do for your money. Empty promises for your money... hmm. I guess the USPS, as a government organization, is actually doing their job! My bad!

I was also told that the company I ordered the package from should have made this clear. To this I say hogwash! The company I ordered from runs their business the way they are supposed to. How do I know this? Because they aren't an "independent branch of the United States Government". Thank you for your time, and I would encourage you all to use UPS or FedEx whenever you have the chance and encourage the companies you order from to do the same via e-mail, phone calls, or whatever you can do to communicate this.

I mailed an iPhone through the USPS to an eBay customer via Express Mail. It showed delivery to be on 4/17/13. On that day, the package left a sorting facility 5 miles from the recipient's house and then never received another scan. One week later, after fighting over the phone with the processing center and the final postal facility which would receive it for 2 hours, I got the last post office to do a search for the package. A day later, the associate told me that it was not in the processing center or his facility and that I needed to call the postmaster.

I called the postmaster who told me to call the postmaster general who told me to call the district head for that USPS region. Once I did this, she told me to fill out a lost package form with my local USPS and it will go to the dead letter facility to see if my package went there. However, since the forms are now automated, according to my USPS facility, all that will happen is that the form will be received by the USPS facility that I had do the investigation and then the manager there will have to do the work he already did again.

All this is to say that the USPS is a horrible excuse for a shipping option. You must first pay them for their services from your taxes. Then you must pay to have them ship the package. Then you must pay to insure the package which you paid them to ship both out of taxes and at time of hand-off to the USPS. Then, if the package is lost, you have to fight to make a claim, and your package which probably made it to a dead letter facility can be auctioned off after 90 days if not claimed.

So, in other words, you have paid the USPS to ship the package two times, insure the package, and then when lost for it to be sold by the USPS at auction. Oh how I love the USPS!

I received many packages throughout the week. Of all the couriers I used, I have the most trouble with USPS. They lose packages often (at least 1 out of every 6). When I call their customer service, most of the time, they cannot do anything and will give you a local number. Until I wrote down the correct numbers, this would lead me around in a loop of “who’s got my package and who can do something about it.” They have a section for the account holder to leave special instructions. I have a security door with a buzzer. It’s pretty simple and UPS, FedEx and DHL have no trouble ringing it; only USPS can’t figure out how to ring the buzzer, and so they keep the package.

As I stated above, there have been many times when they lose it, also known as “their system says it’s here, but it isn’t.” When I call the local post offices, most of the time, I get a harried person who sounds like they can’t wait to get off the phone, and I feel like I’m imposing on them to try to seek my missing package. Overall, I avoid USPS whenever I can. Honestly, if they paid attention to customer satisfaction like their privately owned counterparts, they might not be hemorrhaging money.

I've been using USPS for some time now, daily, shipping about 20 pieces a day. I have for the past year been fighting with USPS over track and confirm, as well as numerous other issues. First class mail is given free delivery confirmation but for whatever reason, they don't really give you any. Is that why it's free? You pay, but the service is rarely rendered. Fifty percent of my packages or more never show delivered ever. As for priority, the packages do not get there any quicker in most cases. Express mail, guaranteed in 3-5 days, unless you have a problem, then it's 7-10, just ask. That must be the asterisk at the end of 3-5 days, so really USPS' only guarantee is that they'll take the money for services, but there's no real guarantee you'll ever get the service you paid for. I'm losing more mail this past year than ever before and now paying twice as much to mail it.

I am beginning to think they are having a whole day auction, just with my mail. I realize prices go up, but come on. Is it fair to reduce service and then double prices? Bottom line, if there's anyone out there who can set up a system similar to USPS, they have the ball in their court because I understand we're all looking for affordable shipping rates, where they do what they say they will, not give you a bowl full of excuses. I'm in PA and this year, I've had numerous packages going to NY and NJ, that took 27-34 days to reach the recipient and that's when it actually arrived - some never made it or showed up empty. This is first class mail. Oh my, I could have gotten it there sooner if I walked it to them. This is crazy service! If you want to call it service at all!

Proof that USPS is falling apart at the seams: ** - This has no evidence it showed up, but it did, ripped to shreds after 20 days or so. I can't figure out why they call this delivery confirmation, as in most cases, above just a few examples. They never scan delivered. Out for delivery means nothing. I've had packages out for delivery for a month and then finally showed up, so that doesn't count. I'd be happy with only getting a delivery scan and nothing more. That's what is important in the end anyway, not where it's been, but where it ends up.

Late yesterday afternoon, I got on the USPS website to track the package, and it said it had been delivered at 4:20pm. Now, I'm wondering how could a package be delivered at 4:20 when the carrier came by at 2:15. I forgot to mention somebody was home all day yesterday. So today, I met our carrier when he came to deliver our mail and went out to talk to him. He said he didn't deliver a package yesterday and checked his truck for any for me, but couldn't find any. I told him about the tracking info and he said somebody's lying and that I should go to my local post office and see if the package is there. I went to my post office to explain the situation to them and the clerk went the back to check for package. When she came back out, she said she didn't find one for me and will call the carrier on his cell phone to find out what he has to say.

Of course, she went in the back room to make the call, so I don't know what was said or if she even made the call. She came back out and told me that the carrier said he hadn't even been by my address yet today. I told her that is very strange because I just talked to him in person about 20 minutes previously. She went into the back room to call him again and returned suddenly with a whole new story. Now supposedly the carrier said he remembered the package from yesterday and left it on a chair by the patio in the front of the house. Of course, the package wasn't there. I had checked all around both yesterday and today to see if it was left in some mysterious place where they have never left a package before, but not to be found. When I asked the clerk why was the package allegedly delivered 2 hours after the carrier delivered mail at my house, her answer was that he got the package from somebody, saying it had been misdelivered and he returned to my house at 4:20 and delivered the package.

Well, returning to an address the same day to deliver a package that was not delivered earlier is a major no-no with the postal service. Their regulations state that if a delivery is missed, you may not return to that address that day, that the item must be taken back to the PO and another delivery attempt made the next day. One of either two things happened, either the package was stolen or the package is sitting at the PO. Since the clerk assured me it wasn't at the PO, I am assuming it was stolen and have filed a complaint with the USPS customer service telephone number and made a report with the Postal Service Inspector General's office. I really don't expect to get results from either one, but had to complain to someone to get it off my chest.

I am so mad about being lied to my face, especially when they know I caught them in a lie and keep doing it. What I do expect to happen is that from now on, I will have mail delivery problems as a retribution for making a complaint. It's just a shame that so few people at this organization really care about doing their job, and that you have little to no recourse when something goes wrong. It's disgusting to me to know that a person has so little pride in doing a good job just because they belong to a union and know they can't get fired, short of having been convicted of killing someone.

I had tracking numbers, but it was useless since the last update was a post like "cannot deliver because of the address." But I did not think the address was a mistake because I sent the gift for my friend too many times before. I started calling the customer service, the post office and even the consumer service. No one could tell me anything about it. They kept telling me somebody will contact me within 48 hours. But truthfully, my phone never had any calls from them. I am so disappointed about USPS' service and wondered what is the point of tracking number service at USPS. Would anyone please tell me what should I do? I purchased an item from eBay that had tracking. It says the package was delivered on 4/1/2013, but that package was never received (tracking #**). The postal delivery man does not wear a uniform and looks like a homeless, unkempt man. I have missed other deliveries that my neighbor has returned from their mail box and even a package that he signed for, thinking it was his, and it was mine. He returned it to me. The mail delivery person is not the hired and official mailman. I have been not receiving mail and packages that were returned by neighbors. However, this time, my package is not received and not delivered to me.

I called USPS yesterday, 4/2/2013, and was told someone would contact me in 24 hours on 4/3/20/12 and given a case number #**. I did not receive a call from USPS, so I called them back today at 4:40PM. I spoke to a representative who told me to call (305) 470-0890 after 5PM if I did not receive a call from USPS. I called (305) 470-0890 and the office is closed. Again I called USPS and told the next representative, who apologized because the first representative should not have given me that number nor told me to call it after 5PM since it closes at 5PM. He read to me that the notes said they would speak to the postal worker and call me back, then noted resolved.

In addition, a complaint was made with USPS about the dirty, homeless looking person who delivers the mail in dirty street clothing, no uniform nor ID. I was given another case number #**. My mother, Mary **, takes medications and the same thing happened to her. Her medications say it was delivered on Monday but never arrived (medication tracking #**, case #**). My package contained jewelry. Both of these packages were to be delivered on Monday, 4/1/2013. The people delivering the mail indeed look homeless, very dirty and unkempt. I believe the police should be notified. This cannot be the postal delivery person and a crime.

If there were no keys on the PO box, it's not his fault the computer assigned a PO box that is not ready. I requested my money and he said he can't help me either. It's very inconvenient for me every time I come from work to go to the post office and get on the line for 10-15 minutes to get my mail. I explained that to him, but he acted like that's not a big deal, like he didn't care.

I moved from PO box ** at zip code 12301 that I had for over 20 years. Now I get this mistreatment. Someone is not being responsible and no one wants to take responsibility for this mistake. I had to reorder this product which cost me an additional $300 plus a very upset customer.

All I get from you is, it's not your problem because insurance was not purchased. The way I see it is that my tax dollars plus my postage should be enough for you to reimburse me because your overpaid employees cannot do their job correctly. I want to be fully reimbursed for this package. If I do not get it, then I will be going to my attorney and then my congressman about this situation. This is not right. If you were a private business, you would have been out of business years ago. If this matter is not resolved, then I will take all my business and all my friends' and family's to UPS and FedEx. After reviewing my shipping log, I noticed that not one package was ever delivered in 2 days. 15 out of 100 packages were delivered in 3 days. The rest were 4, 5 and 6 days. So I sent two packages from Chicago to Alabama using First Class and Priority to measure the difference in time.

Since the labels were printed off eBay, the first class package was also trackable. Both of the packages arrived in Alabama the same day. When I went to post office, they told me that priority is not guaranteed and that I should use express. I told them, "So you're telling me that I should pay $20 for a service that is supposed to cost only $5?" She then said she was sorry and she totally agrees with me but she didn't make the rules. I shipped a package on 1/28/13. It was with delivery confirmation. We kept waiting for arrival. The package last stopped in PA. I got a "We Care" packet from USPS about 5 weeks later with portion of cardboard with my printed shipping label, stating damaged by mechanical processing. I shipped 59 Little Golden Books media mail, well taped, well packaged, books sealed in plastic wrap. It was an eBay auction for $86.00 plus $10.00 for shipping. I am out all the money for this and my books. How do they get away with this? I am very angry. On top of this in Late February, a very expensive doll head was broken, again well packaged. Luckily, I insured it. I hope they reimburse my buyer.

I was preparing my shipment when a clerk told me that I needed to buy tape for my package. A lady who was standing next to me had a roll of tape and gave me a piece to close my package after I asked for it. When I got to the window to ship my package, the clerk asked me if I need to pay for the tape. I answered no but she still billed me for it. I refused to pay the tape that I had not purchased and she insinuated that I had stolen it and had to pay for it.

When I asked her to give me back my package, she refused and left the desk towards the back of the office. I asked another clerk to call the office supervisor and she said that the supervisor was busy on the phone. I had to call a police officer who arrived after a few minutes, asked a few questions, and only then the clerk who refused to return my package had to return it at this point, although she didn't return two envelopes of no monetary value that were inside. (I didn't notice this until I returned to my home.) When the police officer asked to see the supervisor, this clerk said that there was no supervisor on duty, contradicting what the second clerk had said.

This clerk should be apprehended for the following: knowingly and without letting me know, charging me for something I explicitly said I was not going to pay; blaming a customer for stealing something without any foundation. Security videos should be able to verify that I obtained a piece of tape from another customer who handed it to me; forcibly retaining my personal belongings and refusing to return them to me; lying about a supervisor not being on duty; retaining part of my package, 2 letters I had written to my parents and sister.

I mailed a package via priority mail from the counter of a local Post Office to the US postal Inspection Office in Chicago on February 1, 2013. I was given a tracking number. Six weeks later, the online Track and Confirm shows the package still out for delivery. No one at the post office or the destination office has any additional information. Before mailing, I considered using UPS or FedEx, but given that the package was being mailed internally from a post office to a division of the postal service, I thought the USPS could handle it. I will use UPS or FedEx next time.

I live in a mobile home park, where each section has what I like to call "community mailboxes", a block of mailboxes, at the end of the street we currently reside on. Each mailbox has the residence address taped to the door. It shouldn't be an issue, correct? Well let's see. My two children and I have lived at this address for the last 6 years and not once have we had the issues we've been experiencing since January of this year. For some reason, the mail carrier seems to be under the impression that no one lives here and has been sending all of our mail back. I was only aware of this fact when one of my daughter's teachers called me in mid-January to ask me if we've moved. I told her, "No, we have not," and that was when she informed me that all the school-related mail they'd been trying to send me had been returned as undeliverable with no forwarding address.

I called my local post office and the man I spoke to said he would speak to the mail carrier and straighten it out. I thought the problem was over. Fast forward to this morning, my daughter called me from school to tell me that once again they can't send any mail to me because it keeps being sent back as undeliverable, and now I have to send proof of residency to the school or they were going to kick my kids out of school. I called the post office again, very upset and angry, and spoke to a supervisor this time about the issue. He said he would talk to the mail carrier and call me back either today or tomorrow and made the suggestion that I should add my last name to the outside of the mailbox. So after 6 years of faithfully receiving my mail without the benefit of my name being on the door of a community mailbox, suddenly they have issues with it?

Incidentally, no one else has their name on their mailbox either. By now, I was beyond upset because I now knew that the income tax refund check I was waiting for had been returned, and I had to call the company that was issuing my refund and asked them to send it to my work address. I will wait for that phone call. If I don't hear from the post office tomorrow, my upset will know no bounds.

I shipped a package on 2/19. On 2/22, the company emails me that their address had changed effective 2/20, the day after I shipped my new computer for service! I was told it would be okay because the post office would forward it to their new address. Well, that did not happen. I assumed they would send my package back to me. Nope! It is now considered "dead mail" and is floating around in the Recovery Center in GA.

I read that their procedure is to open the package and try to find out where to ship or return the item. My address label had the sender's name/address, and it also had my return address. If that wasn't enough, there was also a form inside the box that had all of my contact information! I read that the Recovery Center auctions off items of value. So my computer may be auctioned off, and the new owner will have a new computer with my personal information! I did insure this package, but I do not know what is going to happen at this point. The mishandling of my package is irresponsible and unacceptable. I have never heard of anything like this!

After not being able to answer my question about why my package is stuck in a processing plant, the supervisor came out and was like, "I don't know. You have to call Consumer Affairs." Guess what, nobody answered the two numbers she gave me and the other was just a voicemail system that told me what I already know, my package is stuck in a processing plant. I had someone mail me 11 Pancreatic Cancer Awareness key chains to help raise awareness, and money for my team for the Pancreatic Cancer Awareness walk. Since I am a survivor, this has a value of $100. Not thinking that it wouldn't make it to the house, I did not have it insured. I went to the post office and talked with a clerk who was very nice and helpful. His name was Steve. I received the supervisor’s number. I called the supervisor, gave the information, and had a promise of a call back.

Three days later, there was no call back so I called again. I talked to a new supervisor, who was a new supervisor, and explained the situation. Again, I was given a promise of a call back. It has been over a week and a half. I went online and got a PO Box. I went into the station again and talked with another worker who was also very nice. I did not get her name; she did not have a name tag on. She got the supervisor for me so I could talk to him and see if there were hopes of correcting the issues. He remembered my name and the situation. He basically told me that there was nothing he could do. I am very angry with the mail service not making it to my house and having to get a PO Box to try to insure future packages.

It's bad enough they have to pay $16 for International First Class with no tracking and no insurance (what services do they pay for anyway?). Most of the time, we get lucky and the packages get delivered. Some of the time, they get "lost" and since the customer didn't want to pay the atrocious $44.95 rape fee, we get told there is "no way to track it". Come on, USA! Other countries don't have to pay this ridiculously high postage price and their packages go through all the time. Even using Registered Mail, the Republic of China doesn't pay anything like $44.95 for a less than 4-lb. package to the USA. The Chinese wouldn't stand for it!! Why do we? The only business that will not accept a credit card with "See ID" on the back is the USPS. This completely irritates me. Joe Blow can walk in with my stolen credit card and technically not be asked for a second ID, and this will be just fine and dandy for the clerk. I not only present my credit card with "See ID" on it as well as my driver's license with the exact same name with photograph, and it will not be accepted. Are all postal clerks trained in handwriting analysis? My police department and several government sites suggest writing "See ID" on the back because, if anything, it is a deterrent for criminals to even try a personal transaction that would put them in a position of being asked for a second ID. This just makes no sense to me.

I seriously doubt that one attempting to use a stolen credit card is going to mail a few packages at the post office. This female postal clerk was so rude to me. When I told her that not only does my credit card company and my police department suggest I write "See ID," she replied with, "No they didn't." I will not sign my name on my credit cards simply to pacify the only business naive enough to think that something magical happens when a name is signed on a credit card. I would rather have the added security of showing a second picture ID. No wonder the post office is in the red. Customer service is not a priority!

I called and talked to their supervisor and filed claims three times to this Stanton post office, but nothing’s happening. Thus, they lost three packages of my mails last year (2012). So, can we report our United States Postal Service to the Better Business Bureau or what? My gosh! I too have suffered the idiocracy of USPS. What a joke this crappy service is that our tax money goes to. My family and I were previously living with some friends. When we moved, I went online and shelled out $1 a piece to change the address for my husband, my child and myself. This is the first (and only) time I ever did so online. Usually, we save the $3 and mail the change of address card in. We have never had a problem with this route. However, we paid the money and changed our address online hoping this would expedite things a couple of days. Boy, were we wrong! I changed our addresses on Feb. 1, 2013 and received emailed confirmations for each of us.

A week later, we picked up whatever mail was delivered to our old address and the confirmations for each us had arrived there (as is usual). However, at our new address, the only confirmation we received was for my daughter's change of address. I still have yet to receive mine or my husband's. After waiting for almost one month, I called USPS on 2/27/13 and inquired. They took my complaint and left me with a case number, advising that someone would call me back the next day. Well, no one called of course (go figure), so I called them. I was then advised that they would call by the end of the day. Well, guess what, no call! Today is 3/1/13 and I have called again and have been advised to call my local Consumer Affairs office. When asking why USPS couldn't handle it, I was advised that they were not sure and to call the Consumer Affairs office since they were higher up.

So, what is the deal here? Does USPS just stick you on a back burner hoping the issue will resolve itself and then pawn you off to Consumer Affairs if it doesn't? Geez. So, I then called my local Consumer Affairs office and they said it was in the system and I should have been receiving my mail. I was advised that they would send a test letter to the old address to make sure it works and see how long it takes. However, that's all they could do. Well, that was a lost cause. USPS can't do that? Why the hold up? USPS could have done the same thing three days ago. Why send me on a fruitless wild goose chase? So, our mail is lost in limbo somewhere and this is my consolation? Thanks, USPS. Thanks a freaking lot!

On January 18, 2013, I mailed my daughter a package with a delivery confirmation. On January 22nd, the track and confirm said it had been delivered as it was supposed to. On the 26th, I find out my daughter never received it. On January 28th, she went into the post office at 8:30am to be told it was on the wrong truck route and when they find it, they would contact her. To our amazement, at 11:07 am, it was scanned undeliverable and she never received a call. What are the odds here? Something seems awfully fishy here but we figure or hope it's being returned at this point. Several days have passed and there aren’t any other scans on the package, so I started calling the Amarillo post office where it's at or was, whichever, to get an answer or a fax tone and/or at least a message machine saying it was the postmaster and to leave a message.

Several messages later, I still didn't get a call back. So I called the post office that I mailed it from to be told it was undeliverable and being returned but he didn't know when I would get it back. Gee, thanks for the help. So I sit and wait longer. Still nothing. So on February 20th, I started filing complaints. Then amazingly on the 22nd, the package was scanned again at the Amarillo post office. This post office has been sitting on my package now for 31 days without returning a call or returning it to sender. Then out of the blue, it was scanned in Dallas, TX on the 24th. Yaiy, it's being returned, not.

It went right back to Amarillo the next day and was scanned into their office again which has me wondering at this point if there is a sticky finger employee trying to cover up something or they didn't put a return sticker on the package. Either way at this point, who wouldn't think the worst? It just seems strange and is completely annoying. I called a different post office in Amarillo at 6:30am and actually got an answer. The man said he would give me back number to the post office the package was at and they should go back, find it, and hold it. When I called that number, however, the woman was not so very friendly but said she would get it and call me so my daughter could go claim it. Well, the next morning, it was scanned again which has me wondering if it's about to leave again.

So I called again and spoke with the same woman. She was so rude and just kept telling me it was not a deliverable address. I just kept persisting it was. She finally blurted out at another employee, "Is this a valid address?" I could hear him say yes! Omg! She slammed me on hold for several minutes, came back on the phone and told me the carrier doesn't have it. If the address didn't exist, why would a carrier have it? And if she had looked for it like she said she would, the day before would have been nice. But no. And when I asked her why she didn't, she insisted there were too many packages to try. Then when I asked to speak with the postmaster, she said she will give him the message but I doubt he will call. I'm pretty sure he won't. But I will try. And she hung up on me! I had my daughter go up there at 8:30am to demand the package back with me on the phone and they flat right out refused to look for it, was rude and arguing with her. One woman said she was going to go take a picture of all the packages to show her she didn't have time.

So about 30 minutes of this, my daughter is frustrated and walked out empty handed! Three hours later, a scan showed up on the track and confirm that it departed Amarillo again! This is just not excusable! I went into the post office I mailed it from to find out if I can get some help from this postmaster and if I can get my money back. He is rude and told me no. It was delivered. Omg! Then he commenced to tell me he can't help me unless it's in Houston and asked me rudely, "What part of this don't you understand? I can't help you." I so had to leave before I made a donkey of myself. What a total waste and runaround! Thanks, government, for hiring thieves, liars, crooks and hateful employees!

I learned very quickly that my dog is not a fan of my mailman when he barked and tried to go through a window screen to get to him. That day, the mail carrier yelled at me and used obscenities; I let that go because it was my fault. I am home everyday as I am a stay-at-home mom. I take plenty of precautions to prevent my dog from knowing when the mailman is here. I close all the blinds in my house and I put him in a room when the mailman is on my street.

Since then, the mailman has decided he is only going to deliver my mail if he feels like it. On Jan 8, 2013, I was outside at 9:30 am with my dog who was on a leash, and the mailman came (usually he comes around 3 pm). My dog ran after him. The dog never left the yard and the mailman was not on the yard. I yelled at my dog and he stopped. The mailman then proceeded to tell me that I was cut off and my mail would not be delivered again, and since that day I have not received my mail.

I have had cards mailed for my kids that they have not gotten as well as testing to see I have mailed letters to myself that I still have not received. I was told today from USPS customer service that that supervisor of Bristol PO said that my mail was on hold because I didn't clean out my sidewalk (which is not true and I have video and pictures to prove that my mailbox area was cleaned out). But also, I spoke to the postmaster of the Bristol PO and she told me that I have to put a mailbox at the road because my dog is vicious, even though no one but this one mailman has checked it out. I was told my mail will be on hold until that mailbox is put up. Now, it's the Middle of February. The ground is frozen so does that mean I won't get my mail until spring when the ground thaws? This is very unfair and it all comes down to the mailman just being very rude and not wanting to do his job.

Accounting Services, PO Box 80141, St. Louis, MO 63180-0141 - I am writing to request an appeal on USPS label number **, which was lost by the USPS. How can the USPS deny my fully insured with signature required tracking services reimbursement claim if the USPS can't locate my package and they have a record that they never delivered it and never returned it to me? I have spoken to the addressee and not only did the USPS not try to deliver it to the recipient's registered home address, but even if no one had been there to receive the package, the USPS still nonetheless has irrefutable record evidence (beyond any questionable doubt) generated by themselves that the package is undelivered and must still be in the possession of the US Postal Service, lost or stolen.

The addressee never rejected the package. The recipient has gone three times to try to pick it up and the USPS claim that they don't have it. The package is deliverable from the day of electronic shipping info received to acceptance at my local Tuxedo Park, NY post office, perfectly addressable to the White Plains Sort Facility and to Opa Locka, FL and West Palm Beach, FL to the addressed Jupiter Post Office and then out for delivery on the addressee route on 01/08/13 at 8:39AM. Then mysteriously reported as "Undeliverable as Addressed" the same day at 6:08PM!

Let me ask, how could a package be claimed as undeliverable as addressed if it was accepted in person by the Tuxedo Park, NY post office all the way to the recipient's Jupiter, Florida post office and then sorted to out for delivery unless someone tampered with the address or lost, damaged or stole the package? I paid for insurance with signature confirmation. I only expect what is advertised and rightfully due to me. Please refund the total $237.60 value, plus shipping charges made out to me, the sender, for this fully insured with signature tracking claim lost by the USPS.

I sent 2 packages via registered mail. The first one was to France on 1-4-13 - the tracking states "in transit". The second one was to Japan on 1-15-13 - the tracking states "Accepted at Post Office" but it was never scanned again. USPS has no idea where these packages are, yet 3 different post offices tell me, "Registered is the safest way to send anything". I have filed official inquiries on both packages and have had no further information from USPS. I asked one employee why I had to pay extra for registered mail if it can't be tracked, and was told, "I don't know why you paid the extra money. Once it leaves the U.S. we can't track it." Terrible customer service so far.

I have contacted the postmaster and the result was, it is the discretion of the delivery person to deem whether it is safe to walk over and deliver the mail. But the person will go over it and leave a note on the door stating that they we unable to deliver due to the icy walkway. Since when is it not "rain, sleet, or snow, the mail must go through"? What a crock of **. Now it's "if they feel like it".

On 1/25/13, I completed a Temporary Change of Address form at my local post office with a forwarding date to begin on 1/31/13, after which the gentleman employee told me that I should expect receiving my (forwarded) mail with four to five business days. On or about 2/4/13, I received notice at my forwarded address that my request had been received and that I should be in receipt of my mail shortly. After two weeks went by and I still had not received any of my forwarded mail, I decided to call the number provided on my notice which said to call if no mail is received after ten days of the start date. On 2/14/13, I called the number and the woman on the phone said to wait another few days before registering a complaint because the delay was probably due to the bad weather conditions the northeast had just experienced.

I did wait until the following week; after which I called back on the morning of 2/19/13 and told Erica that I still had not received any forwarded mail. She assigned me a case number and said someone would contact me before the end of the day. Well, no one did so I called again the following morning (2/20/13) and spoke to Angela. She said the same thing, that someone would call me back before the end of the day. Well, no one did. The next morning (2/21/13), I called again and a woman told me that a message on her screen said for (me) the customer to call Carmen at 203-782-7211. I did but after eight rings, a voicemail message said, "The person at 7211 does not subscribe to this service. Good-bye." I called USPS back and this time, Nora said she does not know why it's a non-working number. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, a gentleman named Patrick came on the line and said, "Mr. **, the post office has done all it could do. You're going to have to speak to someone in Consumer Affairs."

I could not believe when he said the post office did all it could. They have not even begun to investigate why my mail has yet to be forwarded and he said the USPS has done all it could do! In any case, I called the Consumer Affairs office twice on 2/21/13 and twice in the morning and afternoon of 2/22/13 leaving messages each time. Because no one called back, I again called USPS and this time spoke to Gary. He said the most he could do was take my complaint, issue me a complaint number and author an internal memorandum/complaint to Consumer Affairs relative to they not returning my phone call. So what I see happening is this: I make a request with the USPS to forward my mail for a couple of months. Three weeks later, I still have not received my mail. No one at USPS can tell me where my letters are and every person I spoke to (five total) channeled me elsewhere.

The supervisor couldn't even provide me with even the slightest clue as to what was being done or at the least what can be done to help me. Then it gets better! Consumer Affairs, who is supposed to pick up the ball where the other five lower-level USPS employees dropped it, doesn't pick up the phone, doesn't return any of its messages and when I call USPS back, they take a complaint from me against Consumer Affairs after I had made a complaint to Consumer Affairs regarding the lower-level USPS employees not investigating my complaint to its fullest. I can only describe this whole ordeal as being outrageous and the employees and supervisor at USPS as being inept! Totally inept! It's amazing that this federal agency functions at all if this is how they operate. Everyone just passes on the complaint to someone else hoping that somewhere along the line it goes away. Thank you, USPS! You just proved your (un)worthiness to this customer/consumer!

On February 1, 2013, a merchant shipped me a package via first class mail (Tracking Number **), and it was received in Bozeman, MT 89718 on February 7, 2013 at 5:42pm. That was the last time the package was recorded or tracked. On February 15, 2013 at 9:38am, I called USPS and created (opened) a case file (**).

On February 19, 2013, my local post office (Mike) called me and left a message for me to call him back. The next day, on February 20, 2013, I contacted Mike and we discussed the missing package. He simply stated that the package is not in the Hicksville Post Office, and I should check with the merchant to make sure the delivery address was correct and to see if the Bozeman Post office facility sent it back to him. I then explained that I had already done both those steps. However, I was told that as far as his end was concerned, the case is closed.

On February 22, 2013 at 10:25am, I called back USPS, inquired about my case file, and let them know that no progress has been made. After my discussion with the representative at USPS, that included a completed review and a simple unanswered question, I was referred to my local Consumer Affairs Office in Brooklyn, New York. What I cannot get answered was why the package is not showing any movement from Montana. Why it would be referred to my local Post Office all the way across the United States? I then asked if the Bozeman Montana Post Office was asked to check their facility for the package, but again, no one could answer the simple questions.

On February 22, 2013 at 10:30am, I attempted to contact the Consumer Affairs Office in Brooklyn, but after 23 rings, I was disconnected. I redialed, and after the same amount of rings, I was sent to a message phone asking that I leave my name, contact information; I added my tracking number as well.

On Friday, 2/15/13, I went to the middle street station in Bridgeport, CT and explained that I would like my packages left with my neighbor in any event that I am not home to receive my packages, who I gave a specific name and location where he is every day. On Saturday the package was attempted but not given to the neighbor as requested, nor was a notice left and I am tired of having this problem all the time. So I scheduled a redelivery request on the website as I have been doing lately over the past few weeks and to no avail. The delivery was not made today as I requested online and this is the third time this has happened.

So I called the Middle street station this morning and spoke to Jack and explained that I requested a redelivery for today and to make sure the delivery is attempted and given to my neighbor, Yogi, again because I will not be home because I work 9-5 and don’t get home till about 6pm. Jack told me that he got it and when I came home today, there was no package. The postal carriers do not do their job, I am tired of having to complain and nothing gets done, and what is the point of requesting a redelivery on the website when it doesn’t work. The postal system is horrible and it’s no wonder why people do most things online. I want something done and not an immediate fix. I want to permanently stop having issues with my packages getting delivered, I want to stop having issues with when I request a redelivery that it actually gets delivered on the day I requested. This is horrible.

They said they didn't want to activate it because I may not get my refund if they do. They took my name and phone number, and said the manager would give me a call the next day. I did not receive a call, so I went online that evening and sent an email to customer care requesting information on how to cancel a PO Box and receive refund.

The next morning, I received an email from eCustomer Care responding to my inquiry (case ID **). I was told to go back to the Meridian Ave. post office to get my partial refund. I dropped the package off to the Southampton branch located at 1050 Street Road Southampton, PA 18966 on December 24th, 2012. On January 29th, 2012, I received an email that the person did not receive my package. I went to the Southampton Postal Office where I initially dropped off my package to speak to one of the representatives trying to track my package. At that branch, a very nice representative advised me that I had to call a number and if I did not get an answer, to go back to the branch. She gave me a piece of paper with a phone number. When I arrived home, I realized that the number was the same I was calling for the past couple of days with no answer. At that point, I was calling the phone number provided every time I had a chance.

Today Monday, 02/11/12 at 10:30AM, I decided to call in the morning trying my luck. To my surprise, I was able to get a representative. She told me that I could not track my package. I was getting upset and I asked for a manager. When the manager came to the phone, he told me the same thing. I do not understand how can the postal office not track a package within the US territory? I never heard such a thing. I understand they cannot track it internationally, but they should be able to track it within the US since I do have a tracking number. The representative from the Southampton branch told me that most likely my package is in customs since they had complaints about that. All I want is proof that my package left the US customs. The tracking number showed that a notice was left on the expected delivery date, but that information was false because somebody was home all day waiting to receive the item, but no mail carrier buzzed the door and there were no notices anywhere. My building has a security camera that shows when the mail person enters the building so that's how I know that nobody attempted to deliver my item, plus the buzzer to get into my apt building is loud, so there's no way we can miss a delivery attempt. This is not the first time that I've had this problem with USPS, as there were many other instances in the past when postal workers falsely claimed a delivery attempt to my address. Perhaps they're too lazy to come upstairs since I live on the top floor.

A couple of hours later the tracking number showed that my item had been forwarded to a different zip code and a notice was left there. This is the first time that I've had this problem. I only have one address and I've been able to receive other packages with different mail carriers (such as UPS) using this exact address for years without any problems. I'm sure it's not the sender's problem, because they have my correct address on file, but my local Post Office is corrupted and usually delays / damages / loses my mail so I suspect that the problem lies with them. One time I ordered a book that was shipped in the same state I lived in yet they "lost" the package and it took over a month to get it with first class mail! Another time the box my item came in had a big hole in it and the USPS sticker that covered it read "sorry for damaging your item."

About my current problem, I've contacted USPS customer service multiple times to file a complaint and requested redeliveries 2 different times (and even got a confirmation number for them). The last USPS customer service representative I spoke to said that he wasn't able to find any information on the first confirmation number, so he gave me the second redelivery confirmation number which apparently doesn't work either because I still haven't received my item! I've requested redeliveries using both the online system and over the phone but neither worked.

I don't exactly know what the problem is in delivering my item. It's a small parcel that should've been delivered days ago and now I don't know where it is and USPS has not been helpful in tracking it down. The sender has also contacted USPS but has not been successful either. I've made arrangements for someone to be home for days now and USPS has made not attempt to deliver/redeliver my item. This has been very inconvenient to say the least! I'll try to avoid USPS in the future and stick with more reliable carriers such as UPS, because they always deliver my items by the expected delivery date without any problems.

If I haven't received two packages, it makes you wonder how many people out there are not receiving theirs.

I run a small business and have used USPS almost exclusively for the past five years. The service has been very good - until recently. In the past two weeks, I have experienced four lost shipments, two outbound and two inbound. In the end, I expect these losses to exceed over $10,000. I cannot afford these kinds of hits to the bottom line or to my company's reputation. I spend between $1000-$2000 a month on shipping alone. So even though I am not a big customer, I will be looking to move my business to another provider as soon as possible.

I recently sold a few items on eBay, and because they partner with the USPS and the package was large, I shipped my package parcel post to the buyer. When the package arrived, two of the four items inside were broken. I contacted the USPS via their web site to complain and I was told I should have purchased insurance. Really?! Seriously!? I believe the act of forcing someone to pay money for protection is called extortion. The USPS should have done the job they were paid to do, and that was deliver the package to its destination safely, without running it over with the truck and the plane.

When the purchaser shipped it back to me via the same method, USPS parcel post, the new box was severely damaged when it arrived and the items inside further damaged. One half of the new box was completely crushed upon return shipment. To add insult to injury, I had shipped another item via the same method and from the same post office within a few days of the first (and prior to realizing the postal service would molest my packages), and ended up with the same result. So, it appears the postal service will destroy your package (no matter how well you pack the item and how much you mark it "fragile"), unless you pay them more money to protect it. Shame on you, USPS. You will not get another penny from me, not even a freaking holiday card. Kiss off!

I'm an office assistant who normally has to deal with complaints about shipments with USPS, so I personally know how bad they are. A couple of weeks ago, I ordered a t-shirt from the Denver Broncos as an early Valentine's Day surprise gift for my boyfriend. On their site, it says the courier company that's it's going to ship with is FedEx, so I paid the FedEx Smart Post service, believing that the order will be shipped on time with no surprises.

On the day that it's supposed to arrive at my boyfriend's address, nothing was sent. His family didn't receive anything, nor did my boyfriend. No slips, no nothing. I called FedEx to find out what exactly happened, and they told me that although the tracking number said that it's been delivered, it's actually at the local USPS (I knew that was trouble right there). She told me to contact the local USPS Office to make a re-delivery or to put it on hold for pick up. I live in Canada and the local USPS is in the States, so I had to waste my minutes calling a long distance number. It was a guy who picked up the phone. I was trying to explain my situation to see if he could put the package on hold so my bf can pick up the package. I haven't even finished talking and the guy just transferred me to an unknown number.

After 3-5 minutes of waiting, I got hung up on - really? My boyfriend drove to the post office to try to pick up the package, but it wasn't there. I called FedEx and they said that the only way for me to file a claim is to speak with USPS. I contacted USPS about it, filed a claim and was told I would be contacted within 1 business day with the results. I waited and it's been past 24 hours since the call with no contacts at all. I called USPS again (reaching the customer service rep was a pain), and she said that they're still in the process of investigation and they will contact me at around 5:30. I asked her if she can give me the time in PST and when they will be closed. She said, "Excuse me? You mean our office? We'll be closed at 8:00 PST." I repeated the same question, she said, "Right now it's 2:44 PST." I just gave up speaking with her because she didn't understand my question and because of her rudeness.

Really, USPS, I wouldn't give any business to you. The reason why I got FedEx to ship out my package is because they're trustworthy, and because of their good customer service. I don't even understand why FedEx would have a contract with you guys. I'd rather spend more money to make sure FedEx ships out my order next time, then having you guys screwing up my Valentine’s Day and wasting my time.

Please, someone help me understand this. Explain it to me like I am a 4-year old. I recently shipped an item through the USPS. I recycled and reused a flat rate medium box. I went online to the USPS website to print postage using their calculated postage service entering my box dimension, weight, and destination. It gave me a postage fee. I paid, printed my label and dropped my package at the nearest office (Belding, MI) having to return one, because the office closes its window from 11am to 12 daily; but that’s another story for another day!

So today, I received the box back with an insufficient postage stamp. I returned to the post office to ask why. Well, it’s because I used a box that says "Flat Rate" on the side. I asked, “Why, does that matter?” The only answer I got is because the box says it on the side. So I asked, “If the box was plain brown, would I have enough postage? The answer is “Yes.” So because I was trying to make use of an old box that says "flat rate" on the side, even though I was paying sufficient postage for the size, weight, and destination, it wasn't good enough. I was forced to pay almost $5 more. I didn't have time to take it home and wrap or re-box so I paid it. I find this absolutely ridiculous. It makes zero sense. I went home and opened a UPS account. They will be my exclusive shipper from this point on. The USPS can go straight to hell.

Make sure you read it all. First, note that this has been an ongoing problem for a few years now as well as problems such as post carrier speeding in a 10-mile zone in trailer park with kids around. When I reported this to the supervisor, he blew me off. My mail started going missing. I wasn't receiving my bills but companies said they were mailing them. I wasn't receiving my letters and packages from family, friends and businesses; yet, they all said they were sending stuff. My mom paid for a package to be signed by me, only the carrier gave it to my neighbor without my permission just because the neighbor said, "I'll take it so she doesn't have to go all the way to the post office." Though my neighbor was trying to do a good deed, no one should have touched or signed for my private packages as they could have been anyone and it was paid extra from their services to make sure it would not get in anyone else’s hands!

I had presents and crafts for my three kids from both me and my family for the Dec. holidays and their vacation and it was never delivered and was sent back to family and company. So my kids missed out on those events happening due to the post office and carriers’ disrespect and complacency doing their job, using excuses like they aren’t getting out to deliver it because there are dogs running loose in the area. They first of lied saying they came to my house when on several times I was home the entire day, never left and they never came but yet said they did. They also lied to the supervisor saying they did, as well as one time refusing to hand me my package, threw it on the ground, out her window of her car and I have witnesses saying she is not getting out her car. I told supervisors and above supervisor managers, whatever they are called, one after the other they would literally laugh in my face and say "Go ahead, I don't care" in remarks to I was going to call Consumer Affairs and report all this.

They also make repeated excuses that they would not have their employees attacked by a dog. They have been told by me if they don't like their job to deliver packages to people’s homes, they should find another one. They are getting paid over $17 an hour last time I checked and that was years ago. It may have increased by now to do a government job and they are refusing. The supervisors are all helping the employee (note there's workmen comp for problems); yet, people are paying for a service wasting their hard-earned money for a service not being completed as well as enforce. It sounds like fraud to me with a nice excuse to keep people quiet. As to the dogs in the area, they were also told that is not my problem what neighbors do with their animals. But I am not being paid to do their $17 an hour job to use my gas as a single mom of 3 to drive 15-20 minutes away from me to pick up packages that are paid to be delivered to my door!

Also, they can see those dogs they complain about are not even harmful, one is a Lab and is friendly. It only barks at you unless you pet it then he will want to play. Wow, goodness me, I'm so frightened by that. God, I'd be licked to death I just couldn't handle it. I may lose my job and income from going insane from the slobber. Sorry for the humor, but really it has gotten ridiculous. They laugh and disrespect me and make a fool of me. Well, let me show the world of the fools and disrespect they so have shown me as well as my family! I am looking to find out if anything further can be done; pressing charges is one of them since it is a federal offense to mess with people's packages. There has got to be some kind of an offense for the supervisors as well as carriers not doing their job being paid for. Isn't that fraud because they are being paid for a service they are not completing as well as supervision and not doing that as well as blatant disrespect of throwing my package on the ground, stealing my mail, not delivering it etc? Any feedback to aid me would be highly appreciated so I can pursue this even further and show these people that we are the people of the United States of America.

Just because they have a nice comfy government job doesn't mean that excludes them from doing it correctly! Instead, it needs to be enforced, fired if need be. That doesn't mean make excuses to be lazy and not want to get out your car or drive down a little further to a home to deliver what is needed. Again, I stressed it is not my job to do theirs. I am not being paid gas or my time to get my stuff from the office but they are being paid for a service they are not doing! They are taking advantage of it using the dogs as an excuse. I even went as far as asking for a different mail carrier altogether. They refused saying no, “I will not change the carrier it is her route."

The main supervisor uses the excuse of a carrier being mulled to death by a dog 3 years ago somewhere so this is how they handle it. Yet, they still charge people for the services and don't give people money back for services not done as well as my gas I have to pay and my time doing their job they are being paid for. Mind you, they want you to have pity on them by using the mulled dog excuse but not refund costs, etc. Mind you, I have lived here 7 years. This has been going on for almost the majority of it except when we had our original first carrier who was hit by an undercover cop speeding from what I heard.

As one other person wrote, they contacted them multiple times to get someone to handle their claim. Same here. I have contacted them at least 4 times about my package not being delivered. I was given incorrect information 2 of the 4 times I called. The person who answered passed the buck on the previous person I spoke to. They said they would call back in 24 hours and nothing.

A week and half passed, so I called back and they said the case was closed. What? How is it closed when you haven't completed it or done anything you said you would? They said, "Oh well, you will need to call this number 253-214-1800 to file a complaint." I had another worker tell me the same thing. I see how it is now. I have been on hold with them 3 different times and I am actually on hold right now as I type this. First time I called, 2 hours I was on hold before I hung up. Second time I called at 3:45 and at 4:01PM, their phones were flipped and I got the message that the office is closed. Third time, I was on hold for 1:45 minute before I hung up. Fourth time is right now and I am going on 30 minute.

It makes sense why they are going bankrupt and need a bailout. A normal company would be out of business years ago if they had this type of customer service. Pretty sure this number provided to me does not have anyone there to answer. I am hanging up and will never use them again. Strange how FedEx and UPS seem to be doing well! Oh wait. With having a different mail carrier everyday, sometimes I don't get my mail. Sometimes I get other people's mail. Once I even got my neighbors' mail that she had put out for the carrier to pick up or the carrier picked it up and put it in my box.

I've made several complaints and they basically told me that they can't give me a regular carrier and get rid of the slacker due to the union or some nonsense. So whoever has the lightest route gets my neighborhood route, thus this ends up with me not getting my mail. I know this for a fact, because I continue to keep getting other people's mail. I always return it but other people are not so honest. I've had to have companies that I have done business with for years put stop payments on checks because they are lost in the mail.

I finally gave up. I have made several complaints and the supervisors won't do a thing, so I'll just have to put up with it. I wish they would privatize the mail. Then they would have to do their job or the consumer would find a company who would.

Perhaps they wanted me to deliver the other people’s mail for them? The other package never arrived, and then almost a month later I received a note from the USPS explaining that it was damaged, but was never returned. Stupid me - I should have purchased insurance. I fully deserve my $400 in losses, as I should know better with our USPS. What irritates me most is that they will not refund the $31 in postage for the undelivered items. I paid for a service that was not met. No company in the world would operate this unethically, yet it is policy (no refunds) with the USPS. Shame on them. As an extension of our government, it makes me disappointed to be associated with them as an American.

I own a small business in NJ. We order items over the internet on a daily basis, at least 40 orders a month. 30 of the 40 orders are shipped via the USPS system. 95% of the shipments arrive without any issues, some times earlier than expected. The last 5% get stuck in the local distribution center until someone wakes up and finds them. The tracking system they have is not even close to being good. Common sense says that when an item is in the distribution center for more than 3 days, the tracking system should issue a flag for the supervisor there to look that item up and push it through the system so it can go to its next destination.

This week we are waiting for an item that has been stuck in the Kearney distribution center for six days. I called the customer service center to advise them of the problem and asked them for the phone number for that location so I can personally contact that office and hopefully get someone to push this item through. What I was told was that they cannot provide me with the phone number since it is a distribution center and they don't have anyone there to answer USPS customers' phone calls. I was asked if I have insurance on that item or not. Also, I was advised to file a claim. I did not.

I want to disclose to the readers that I am an expert on filing cases with the USPS. If you plan to file a case, don't. You would be wasting your time. After you file a case with customer service, you will be told that someone will contact you within 24 hours with an answer to your complaint. No one does. A few days later, you call back to find out that nothing was done. You will be told again that someone will call you within 24 hours, but no one does. Even if the item came in damaged, your best bet is to refuse it; otherwise, it becomes your problem to drag the item to the local post office and attempt to talk to someone that cares and you will be told that you should leave the item at the post office and they will contact the sender or you in few days. You will be notified that your claim was rejected due to insufficient packing material even if the packing material was more than enough. Do not buy insurance. It is simply a scam. After you read the 1st and 2nd comments, do you still think that you will be able to collect anything? Good luck.

I am now accepting the fact that I will lose 5% of my orders when shipped with the USPS. This has become a fact of life for me. Good luck to everyone.

I shipped an iPhone to China via USPS Priority Mail International. I thought my tracking number would suffice. I have been contacted by the buyer numerous times, who is understandably upset and keeps telling me to contact customs. Problem is we cannot. USPS shows it is "in transit" after leaving sorting facility on 12/1. It's lost somewhere. I have to pay the buyer back and will be out a ton of money. I contacted Consumer Affairs, but I can only leave a message. They said they get back to you in 24 hours, but I have left messages over a week and heard nothing. What can I do?

My address is **. I would like to report that the supervisor and the assistant to the supervisor refused to give me my mail. The supervisor is a white male, blond-looking hair with mustache and the female was black, slim-built. The office is located on the Boulevard Colonial Heights, VA. On or about January 2, 2013, my mail was not delivered to my place of residence. My wife and I went to the post office to see what was going on, and at that time, they gave the mail to my wife. We are in the process of moving and one of the route delivery persons went back the office to report to her boss that we were gone.

Then, I noticed that we did not receive any mail for about four days so I went to the post office to see what was going on. That was when this black, tall, slim lady started saying, "The house is vacant and we don't deliver mail there." I said that I have not moved out and that I was there to get my mail. She said, "No, you can't pick up mail here. Let me get my boss." The white male came to the front desk and said that his personnel don't deliver to an empty house - his rule. I told him that we go to work and we are home around 6 PM. He said that he will check for himself. I then said, "So you are telling me that I can't have my mail now while I am standing in front of you with three forms of I.D.?" He said, "No, I need to check your home first to see if you are still living there."

My nephew has been staying with me since January 1, 2013. But this is what the manager said, "I will bring the mail over to your house to check and see if you live there around six o'clock in the afternoon." He showed up at 3:45 PM beating on the door. When my nephew opened the door, he just slammed the mail in my nephew's hand and walked off. I would like to state that I have never dealt with a post office where the manager gives special instructions not posted in the guidelines to carriers to hold people's mail - without filling out a hold my mail card due to change of address. Basically, he just went off of his little rules. I still could not believe that he refused to give me my mail in the post office. What poor service starting from the top.

We have had so many problems with mail delivery: we getting the neighbor's mail, they getting ours, packages left out by the road (we live off the road a bit), getting mail that had to be signed for (for our neighbor) in our box, packages sat in the driveway when it's 90 degrees out and clearly marked "Keep in cool area." Today took the cake though. Package was marked fragile with red obvious sticker and we were home watching the mail person barely stop as they did this. See picture.

I purchased antique parts on eBay Germany. I made arrangements to have parts shipped to USA via DHL. DHL International uses USPS for domestic distribution. Parcels left Germany on 8-Dec. 2012 and arrived in San Francisco on 10-Dec. 2012. Call to service center yield zero information. Service Center said to contact local post office. Local post office referred me back to service center. Service center cannot investigate parcels they have received; the sender must. The sender did and DHL said USPS received the items. Rather catch 22.

I sent out a package on 12/28/2012 using USPS Large Priority Flat Rate box. The packaged weighed 21 lbs. going from Riverside, CA to San Antonio, TX. I expected the package to arrive in 3-5 days, as that is the expected delivery time for Priority Flat Rate. The package never arrived, and I have continued to speak with different departments with USPS to determine what happened to my package with no help. I have filed a complaint with their investigation services twice and have not received a single word back in writing or call. I am very disappointed with the USPS service.

They have inconsistent mail delivery and priority package pick up. Sometimes the driver simply does not show up at all. On one occasion, the driver filed paperwork stating that he was here for the pick up, and he was not. I have filed complaints with the post office. USPS gave me the phone number to talk to a supervisor at Lents Station. I called all afternoon. They don't answer the phone.

I paid for a PM package to be sent from Colorado Springs, CO to Pueblo, CO - a distance of about 20 miles. The package went to Denver, CO for delivery to Pueblo, CO - a distance of about 150 miles. The package was sent on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013. It did not arrive on Thursday. On Saturday, I saw my mail carrier put mail in my mailbox, but no package. I left home and contacted her later in my neighborhood. I asked if she had a PM package for me. She rummaged in her truck and found it. She didn't even know she had it on board and said it had gotten put in with the general mail and she would not have come back that day to deliver it but would have brought it back the following week.

I called USPS customer service on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, and filed a complaint and request for refund. I was promised a call back in one day to help me with the refund process. On Wednesday, January 9, 2013, I again called USPS customer service and was told that I could not file for a refund, but I could call a couple of other numbers. I consider this poor and incompetent service (the postal carrier had the package on her truck and didn't even know it was there). Does priority service include "Oh, I would have just delivered it next week"? It was a priority package, but apparently not for the USPS. Customer service gave me the runaround, promising to handle the refund with a call back in one day then changing their mind and telling me I had to call some other numbers. No wonder USPS is losing so much business to FedEx and UPS.
