After living here in Urb. Ciudad Cristiana, Humacao, PR for 13 years and having packages being delivered by at least 5 to 6 different carriers, as of 1/7/2013, the current post master has rudely stated she has instructed the carriers not to deliver packages to this highly residential area. She stated that the physical addresses do not match the post box numbers, and that I and my neighbors need to get together and resolve. I tracked my package and a notice was left all the while I was home waiting for the delivery. I called 3 days in a row for re-delivery, and the post master stated on the phone "I told you, we will not deliver!" and then hung up on me.

The packages arrived at the dock delivered by UPS, signed for, received then never made it to my postal box. I have to cancel the order and get money returned. The postal staff don't care, don't investigate. They must fall into somebody's trunk. I will not renew postal box.

When I moved into my Uncle's house, USPS said that they would no longer deliver to the box that was there for years. JCPO approved of the new box site, in person by the Postmaster. After the delivery person got in my face and threatened me, the JCPO demanded that I move the vehicle in front of the box. They had delivered to both sides and were retaliating. There are no other place available to move vehicles. In fact, they do not drive to the box when there is no vehicle there. These people are abusing their power and I need some actions.

We have a bank of locked mailbox property of USPS in the middle of our cul-de-sac. They, USPS, will not maintain the locks which stick; they are out in the weather and are cheap locks. I have called and left messages at the PO and left numerous notes on the mailbox to ask if the mail carrier would please change the locks as it is a misery to try and open. This has been ignored. The postmaster, Mr. ** never returns your call nor answers his phone. The carrier is angry and would not leave packages on my porch. I have filled out 2 permission slips. When I call for a redelivery, she doesn't bring it the next day. I filed a complaint.

My mail box got jammed up with a box too big and mail all wadded up. I filed a complaint. She delivered a Christmas package of jellies, smashed and dripping. The lock is getting worse yet and it's harder to get my mail. I filed a complaint. The key finally broke off in the lock. I've been without access to mail for 2 weeks. Then the day after New Year, I pried the box open with a screw driver. There were 2 weeks worth of mail, Christmas cards, etc. wadded up and crumpled in the tiny mailbox ... I filed a complaint.

Two days later, she delivered my bank statement and checks to the unsecured mail box. I filed a complaint. Today she left a note saying pick your mail up at the PO and get a new key made. I wonder what could be wrong with her. If she would just get the lock changed. A new key comes with the lock. I do not need a key; I need a lock because the old lock is broken. She doesn't have to change the lock herself either. From my understanding, she just has to tell the lock guy. She refuses to do this as does her boss as does the Postmaster.

I called and filed another complaint... They tell me they cannot make her do anything, and now, I am supposed to write a formal letter to the USPS Advocate. However I no longer believe these people are capable, as is any government agency of seeing and solving a problem. They have made this tiny problem huge. This is so shockingly ignorant. I cannot believe this is happening. I have spent, in 6 weeks, a total of 6 hours per week on the phone with USPS talking to the Customer Service people, the Consumer Affairs people and the Customer Advocate. They say they will call me back. Only 2 people have, with nothing resolved. A supervisor from the actual PO finally called me to say she is in Bulk Mail and has nothing to do with the carrier but would pass the message on and someone would call me first thing in the am. No one ever did; no one can get the carrier to do her job.

I am going to write that letter, not to the Advocate though, but to my Congressman. And I am calling the media. There is a consumer advocate guy that tracks down these insane situations. I think people are going to have a hard time believing this nonsense, but I clearly see why the USPS is nearly out of business and I hope it happens soon. They should be out of business asap. They are incapable of doing the job they are contracted to do. They need to get out of the way and let a private company do the job! It has been six months of hell when it would have taken 1/2 hour to change the lock. No wonder the USPS can't get anything done. There is no excuse for this as there is no excuse for all the other things they have done as I have read the thousands of complaints here. They should be ashamed.

This is a complaint I filed with the USPS regarding the actions of their employees at the Indian Tree facility in Arvada, CO:

On or about September 28, 2012, your employee (letter carrier) rang my doorbell and told me my dog had threatened him for the second time (while your employee was in my front yard). As I know, I had put my dog in my fenced backyard. I went to check on him and found him in my fenced backyard, where he should have been. I was never told by any of your employees about the supposed first time my dog accosted your carrier nor was my dog in the front yard on September 28, 2012, as your employee claimed. The next several days, I didn't receive any mail.

On the fourth day of non-delivery, I went to the Indian Tree station; only to be told by another of your employees at the counter to hunt the carrier down to find out why I wasn't getting my mail. I discussed this with my wife and decided to call your so-called customer service number to see if they could tell me what the problem was, at which time I was given a case number and was told they'd call me back within 24 hours.

After 36 hours, I again called your customer service number and asked again if they could tell me why I wasn't receiving any mail delivery. When I asked if it might have been about my dog, your customer service rep told me I had to go to my local branch to find out if it was. When I told your customer service rep that an employee at the Indian Tree station told me to hunt the carrier down to find out where my mail was, they said that wasn't correct and that I should go back and ask for a supervisor. I went back to the Indian Tree station and was put in contact with a supervisor (or at least he said he was). I asked why I wasn't getting any mail delivery service.

This supervisor told me your carrier complained about my dog jumping my fence and being aggressive. I told your supervisor that when your carrier told me my dog was in my front yard on September 28, 2012, I immediately checked on the dog and the dog was in my fenced backyard where he was supposed to be. This supervisor then said, "Well, it's possible he could have jumped back into the yard." I told your supervisor that it was also possible your carrier was mistaken or lying about the dog jumping the fence in the first place and that he needed to find out. This supervisor shrugged his shoulders and gave me my mail. I asked if I was going to have to come to the Indian Tree station to get my mail from now on and this supervisor said no, he'd have the carrier restart delivery.

Since the supposed incident with my dog on September 28, 2012, I had been keeping my dog in the house or on a metal cable in my fenced backyard or with me while I am in the fenced backyard. That, however, didn't seem to matter to your employee as on October 4, 2012, while I was in my backyard with my dog, I saw your employee walking from my neighbor's house toward mine. My dog went to my fence's gate and started barking. I immediately stopped my dog from barking and put him inside my house. However, on October 5, 2012, mail delivery service to my house again stopped. When I went to the Indian Tree station on October 6, 2012 to find out why, I was told there was a problem as your employee said my dog was seen by the carrier outside of my fenced yard.

I did lose my temper as I was, and am, of the opinion that your carrier is and was mistaken or lying about the situation as my dog was with me or on his cable inside my backyard or in my house during this period of time. When one of your employees finally deigned to give me my mail, I told him the loose dog excuse was **. He started yelling at me and posturing himself in what I took as an attempt to intimidate and threaten me. I told him you people should take down the Customer Bill of Rights plaque hanging on the station wall as all the employees at that station have shown no customer care toward me. I took my mail and left the Indian Tree station at that time.

On October 10, 2012, I received my mail at my house; along with what your employees call a dog letter from your Indian Tree station manager. I signed the letter and took it back to your Indian Tree station manager on October 11, 2012. On October 12, 2012, your carrier again stopped delivering my mail. I again called the USPS national customer service line to make yet another complaint and was given case number **. I was told I would be contacted shortly by a customer service representative regarding my complaint. When I went to the Indian Tree station, I wasn't able to find out why my mail wasn't delivered nor was I able to pick up my mail. But I was told by one of your employees at the desk that the Indian Tree station manager was waiting at my house (uninvited by me) to see me regarding this matter.

When I arrived at my house, I was accosted by your station manager. I was told your carrier again said my dog was outside of my fenced yard on October 11, 2012 and that I wouldn't be getting my mail until I went up to the Indian Tree station and signed another dog letter. Your station manager also told me if my dog got loose again and threatened your carrier again, I would have to make other arrangements to have my mail delivered (i.e. a mailbox at the Indian Tree station or a mailbox at the sidewalk in front of my house). I told your station manager that your carrier was again lying about my dog as I was home with the dog all day and that the dog was in my house or with me inside my fenced backyard. Your station manager called me a liar and said he had 3 witnesses to my dog's actions as there were 2 other carriers who had problems with my dog (one claiming the dog jumped into her USPS truck).

Your station manager didn't care what I had to say about the situation. He started yelling at me about how he didn't look forward giving comfort to the family of a carrier, who had his/her throat torn out by a dog. I asked your station manager how many times my dog had bit any USPS employee. He said he didn't care anything about that. I asked your station manager if he knew how many times Arvada PD or Arvada Animal Control had been contacted regarding my dog and he said he was going to call them on Monday, October 15, 2012 to find out. Your station manager also stated that your carrier claims that I tried to run him off the road. When I asked when this supposedly happened, your station manager said it was on October 11, 2012.

When I told your station manager that it couldn't have been me as I was at the Indian Tree station talking to him (the station manager), at the time of the supposed incident, your station manager told me "You must have done it on your way home." I told your station manager I didn't even see your carrier on my way home. I told your station manager that he should have the USPS employees making these accusations take a lie detector test. Your station manager said he'd do nothing of that kind. Your station manager alluded that it was I who is the liar.

At this point in our confrontation, I asked him if I could go to the station to get my mail as your carrier had no intention of delivering it to me. Your station manager said I'd have to wait until Monday, October 15, 2012 as he (your station manager) was off the clock and wouldn't be returning to the station until October 15th. I told your station manager that his being off the clock was quite convenient for him. He agreed that it was. I told him that you people (USPS employees) had a hell of a union if he could get away with that. He said he's in management and not covered by the union.

At this point, I'd had enough of your station manager's harassment of me and his accusations that I am nothing more than a liar. I told him since I didn't invite or give him permission to be on my property, as he was for all intents and purposes just another citizen (remember, he claimed he wasn't on the clock for the USPS), he was trespassing on my property and to get the hell off. He turned and started walking away. When I said to him "There will be an end to this mess and you may not like the outcome," he raised both his arms and flipped me off with both hands while continuing to walk away. I said nothing in response to his action and went inside my house.

After all my dealings with him, it is my belief that your Indian Tree station manager's word is nothing more than used **-wipe (just as is your Customer Bill of Rights appears to be to him) as he has no interest, inclination or intention of finding out the facts of my situation other than to say your employees are always telling the truth. All the while inferring that I am nothing but a liar, which appears to give him license to blame me and my dog for all your employees' discomfort on the job. That being said, I took it upon myself to go to the Arvada Animal Control office on October 13, 2012 where I spoke with ACO Jennie **. ACO ** explained to me the Arvada Animal Control office receives numerous complaints from USPS employees all the time regarding barking and aggressive dogs; yet after a search of their records, she stated they have no record of any USPS (or any other person) filing complaints of any kind against me or my dog.

While I was discussing my situation with ACO **, she received a call on her radio to respond to a complaint regarding a loose pit bull dog at **. ACO ** advised me to go home to check on my dog, while she responded to the call about the loose pit bull as I live at ** - which was 4 or 5 houses from her call. When I arrived at my home, my dog was on his cable inside my fenced backyard - where he was supposed to be. After ACO ** completed her call regarding the loose dog, she stopped by my house and advised me that the dog she was called on is the same breed; with similar physical characteristic; and coloring as my dog.

ACO ** also explained that the loose dog she responded to had a history of escaping from his owner's property and running the neighborhood. So it appears (at least to me and several of my neighbors) your employees have been blaming another dog's transgressions on mine. But I'm sure your Indian Tree station manager will come up with some excuse to make it all me and my dog's fault. As I stated above, your Indian Tree station manager has no interest, inclination or intention of finding out the facts of my situation; even if they come back to bite him in his ** (as I believe this new information will) as his whole intent in this matter is to call me a liar.

On October 15, 2012, I had a mailbox installed in front of yet away from my house next to the street (as your Indian Tree station manager said I would have to do in order to get my mail delivered to my house). I am also having a 6 foot privacy fence installed the same week to protect my dog (and me) from your carrier and Indian Tree station manager. However, I have serious doubts this will resolve the situation as long as USPS continues to allow its Indian Tree station manager and his employees to harass and make false accusations about me and my dog without consequences for their actions. Also on October 15, 2012, I again contacted your 1-800 customer support number in order to address this continuing harassment by your Indian Tree station manager and letter carrier. I asked if there was any way I could get the USPS OIG involved.

I was told this new case (**) would be elevated higher than the Indian Tree station manager, as he is part of my complaint. I advised your customer service rep that I have no reason to believe anything would come of this as I've had nothing but problems with the USPS customer service group returning my calls, while trying to get this situation resolved. Currently I am waiting on the opinion of my attorney as to when, not if, we will be filing criminal harassment complaint charges against your Indian Tree station manager and letter carriers; as we believe the USPS inaction in this matter is leaving me with no other alternative, as my attorney believes the actions of the USPS employees to be egregious if not criminal in nature.

The actions by the Indian Tree station manager and his employees appear to be indicative (which I and a number of my neighbors believe it to be) of what USPS calls customer service. Since the USPS shows every intent to allow USPS station managers and employees to engage in harassment of their customers with impunity (as your Indian Tree station manager and his employees have done to me over the past several weeks), USPS is nothing more than a joke on the rest of this nation.

I was contacted by the USPS CO/WY District Consumer Affairs office, who pretty much told me their employees will do as they wish regardless of any proof I have of their employees' egregious actions to me. Looks like USPS can and will do as they please and to hell with their customers. I also sent a copy of this complaint to Congressman Ed Perlmutter's office back in early November 2012. I haven't heard anything from his office - not that I was expecting any. Guess since I'm not a "major contributor" to his campaign; I'm to be ignored.

I called and spoke to a Venita who stated the same thing. She could not tell me anything. She did take my name, number and the recipient's name. She said someone was going to call me. No call, no tracking for the package I paid over $30 for. It has not been received. Why would USPS do this to people? I am so shocked. I have read other complaints, and one similar to mine. This is a shame. People are doing this and paying for the service. This is how they do business? This is so disappointing.

Two weeks before Christmas, my mother shipped out a 27 lbs. box to me full of Christmas presents for my self, husband, and children. (It was sent from KY to FL.) Christmas came and went without the package. Then, on 04 January 2013, I opened my mailbox and inside was a brown envelope with a stamp on it that says: "Damaged in handling. Please accept our apologies. Re-wrapped and repaired at MNDC Memphis, TN." I then opened the envelope to find a few sheets of paper. I called my mom and asked her if they were in the box. She said yes and asked if I got all the presents too. No, I did not!

A total of 27 lbs. was shipped and I only get a few sheets of paper. Why? Because all the other items in the box had monetary value. Come to find out that my mother, being a nice grandma and mom, had sent us Target gift cards, checks, wrapped toys, and a Coach purse that she had bought for me (which I was so excited to receive). When I took this envelope to my post office for some answers, I got nothing but rude and horrible service. They tried to tell me that the machine must have broken the box to bits and pulverized everything in it, but miraculously, not the papers. I was astonished and angry! I asked them if the box was so destroyed that it was able to turn a Coach purse into dust (their words, not mine). How did they have my address (to send the papers to me) when the only place to see my address was on the outside of the box?

I also asked how 27 lbs. can be separated from a few sheets of paper without anyone noticing. Basically, I was told that they probably will never find my things if the machine had not pulverized them. And I need not worry because all the lost and found is being donated to charity - that should make me feel better. And as the receiver, I was told that I cannot file a claim, only my mother (who was the sender).

USPS, your stamp should read: "Stolen in handling. Please accept our apologies that we don't screen our workers better." In my younger years, I worked in retail. I could not leave the store for the night without having my bag checked as did every employee. How can postal workers just walk out with pounds of stolen merchandise? Are there not cameras in these facilities? It's a sad day in America when we cannot safely send packages through the United States Postal System without fear of theft! I say, let USPS fail and bring in a company that can actually do what they say!

I called the post office in Hudson, FL on Big Ben Drive and was told that without the tracking number, there was nothing they could do. They referred me to the APO website, which was a waste of time as I didn't have a tracking number. I waited a couple more weeks, still no package. I called post office again today and the rude associate told me "You want me to go back on one of the busiest days of the season and look through thousands of entries?" She was very condescending in her tone. I hung up on her. The consequences to this is that my 19-year-old son, who is fighting for our country overseas, did not get his holiday package; and the tears, frustration, anger and sadness I have endured talking to uncaring and rude postal employees, have been emotionally overwhelming.

We sent packages priority mail, but they were never received by the family. As we continue to call and track them, they tell us they were delivered, not that we are placing an inquiry they see we did not request a signature. If packages were delivered, the person should know where they delivered them. The cost that was paid for the delivery was for that not to have them stolen or just dropped somewhere. I called Consumer Affairs after four days of waiting for a return call and some elderly incompetent black woman needs to be fired. Her statements were it was scanned as delivered and that is it. I can see why this company is slowly losing the customers it once had. There needs to be some integrity and some accountability to the people that trust their packages will get to the destination or at least be looked into.

We used a red plastic padded envelope that weighed 1.50 oz. It was not insured but because my mom had received a previous package the week before from us that was insured, my husband felt the need was a low one. Well, now the package is missing. Do the employees of the USPS seek out packages to steal because the package did not have an insured label posted on it? Just a thought.

It's really sad that honest people can't be found to do an honest job. Maybe that's why the postal service is in such a predicament. Their employees or maybe a few bad ones are taking things that are not rightfully theirs. I hope my elderly mom's package is located. I live in Reading, PA; and this Christmas, I have ordered a couple of things online. The first thing that got stolen was a digital camera. I went to the post office and I found out that my regular mailman was off that day, so I spoke to the person that covered for him. She said that she left the package at the hallway where anybody can see and take it! I told the mailman, the lady and the manager to take the package back with them when nobody's home. So I called the company where I got it from and they sent me another one. I received it. A couple of weeks later, I ordered something else, and it got stolen again. I spoke to my mailman, and he said he was off that day and the same lady delivered my package. I am getting really aggravated, and I am starting to think that this lady is stealing my mail. What a shame on the USPS part. They are very irresponsible. No wonder, they are closing down a lot of offices.

I had not received mail at my home in over one week, which had been a problem quite a few times prior at the same address. I was waiting on refunds and government benefit checks that seemed to have vanished. We were in the process of moving and still residing in our home, and needed the mail that had already been in possession of the USPS for more than one week. When we were moving some of our belongings, I saw my mail carrier coming towards my house and asked her if she had any mail for us. She told me that my mail was being held at the post office. I never thought much of it until after I left the post office with my mail that had been held without my knowledge. I felt as though it shouldn't be right for my mail to be held without my knowledge or permission.

After asking a few people there to take the situation, I was advised to call customer service to check the rules regarding mail being held. When I spoke to customer service, I was told it was not to be held without my knowledge and that if I didn't authorize it, they would investigate and someone would call me in the next day or so. It didn't happen. I had to call back. When I was told there wasn't an explanation for this hold, I was referred to Consumer Affairs. I called Consumer Affairs and left a message. After weeks with no response, I called back. Once again I left a message, only to have the same action - none. I was very upset because the USPS would not tell me who had my mail held.

During the time this situation had began to present, I had no answer or even slight concern over this problem and discovered that the landlady I had been in a dispute with has a son-in-law working at my local office. I felt as if I have been a victim and that my voice was not heard. I've never had this kind of problem with my mail and it seemed peculiar that a family member of someone I was involved in a court dispute was employed at my local office. It is just too big of a coincidence. I'd still not been told why my mail had been held as I was still living in the residence. Because of this questionable action and absolute disruption of my mail, I did not receive important date, sensitive mail. As a result, I have been disqualified from receiving unemployment benefits.

With an appeal, you only have 14 days to file an appeal. It's hard to do when you never receive the notice and if you did, it was over a week past the appeal deadline which caused my benefits to cease. I am now ineligible to receive benefits due to this and the result has been devastating as it was my only means of support until I found employment. I feel as if I have been ignored. As if it's not possible for an employee of the USPS to be honest, deliberately causing such a catastrophic event. It is very disheartening to be dismissed without any explanation or resolution. This has cost my family a lot of distress and ultimately loss of benefits, which should never have happened. Who is responsible for the holding of my mail that has led to this disastrous outcome? I now have no income and haven't now for over a month. There is nothing I can do now to regain my eligibility for benefits.

I feel the post office is responsible as I had expressed concern over mischievous and malicious mail handling, possibly by an employee which was not investigated properly. To allow any questionable action by any USPS employee to be overlooked like this case shows the American people that we have no chance to be treated with fairness as an employee can do something so disgraceful without so much as a question of his integrity. I'm deeply ashamed to know my mail is being handled by a corrupt government entity and I am just pushed aside like I have no right to know who made this happen. It's very disgusting and just plain American to allow such a thing happen.

I submitted a change of address form, and the next day, a vacant tag was in our mailbox and no further mail was delivered. I assumed they were holding mail at the local office pending the forwarding order taking place. After having a shipper inform me that an item shipped to us was returned undeliverable, I inquired at the local office to find that all of our mail has been bounced back for the past 12 mailing days due to the carrier placing the vacant tag in our box for reasons that have not been explained to us (though it is clear that she is not supposed to do that). We have had business papers, Christmas cards, Christmas gifts, and items we paid to have shipped here presumably returned to senders. We will have to pay to have some of these items from retailers re-shipped. The manager's response was "Huh. I'll have to talk to the carrier about that." Too bad you can't sue this incompetent division of the government, which you are basically compelled to use. I thought there were laws against monopolies!

In mid-November, I spoke to the Ellicott City postmaster located at 3375 Ellicott Center DR to inform her that I have yet to receive any mail at my new address and to please stop all mail deliveries at the old address. On December 17, 2012, I spoke to Curtis at the USPS complaint line 1-(800)-275-877 that mail continues to be delivered at the old address. He stated to me that USPS confirmation code ending in ** was currently being processed. Curtis then created case #**. Two days later, I completed USPS's questionnaire as to how satisfied I was in the completed matter at hand. I stated the problem still exists (for crying out loud).

On December 27, 2012, I spoke to Judy at the USPS 1-800 number and she stated to me that the case number ending in ** was closed as resolved. The confirmation code ending in ** was still currently being processed. Judy also advised me to make a complaint to your agency and would not make changes to the USPS system but would however note in the system that the case ending in ** is not closed. She also advised me to speak to the postmaster in Selbyville, DE. The post office was closed when I arrived, but when I returned home, I saw and spoke to the delivery mail lady, Vicky, who confirmed that she could not make changes to what are now computer-generated yellow stickers placed on all my mailings stating "forward time expired, return to sender, Stanley **, ** (basically the old address)."

These yellow computer-generated stickers are being applied to all my mail with the new address! I can't begin to explain how hard it was to call all business back in October as to what my new address is, only to again call everyone pleading to send my mail regardless to the new address. Later this day, I did speak on the telephone to the Selbyville, DE postmaster who was able to look into the USPS database. She quickly stated to me that she can see the problem here but with changes she made, I should start receiving mail at my new address and that their office will cease placing the computer-generated "Return To Sender" stickers on all mail sent to me. I wish for your agency to please follow up on this issue, only to assure me that the USPS will indeed forward my mail from the old address to the new address located here in Selbyville, DE.

The brown wrapped package then was forwarded to Warrendale, PA and on to the APO address. My son-in-law received it on the 18th. The USPS box on the other hand was never received in PA or sent on for military mailing. Local post office says because the confirmation number hasn't been scanned, they can't tell where it is. However, the package is in Customs clearance in Mexico as of today, 12/21/12.

Why is it going through customs in Mexico when it should be going through in Brazil? On USPS.com it states that the package left Lake Waccamaw, NC went Fayettville, NC then Raleigh, NC. On the December 16, it arrived in Miami, Fla with a note stating (notice left (Bus Closed) 9:29am). What did that mean? What notice left? Next, on December 17, it arrived at Sort Facility ISC Miami @ 6:45am, next, it was processed through Sort facility ISC Miami @ 6:49am. Then on December 21st @ 9:31am, it was processed through Sort Facility in Mexico. Next @ 9:32am it was in Customs clearance in Mexico. Why is it in Mexico?

I have my copies of the customs form and express customer copy. The total amount paid was $85.25. I sent the package to my grandbaby "Maria **" to **. I sent it from my address. Its contents are "Christmas stuff animal (dog), first Christmas baby doll that was specially made for my grandbaby, infant sleeping mat, Christmas dish towels and wash clothes, and Christmas table cloth with place mats for dining plates. It weighed 10lbs and 14ozs. It was in a 14x14x14 box.

I did contact the 1-800 number, but I want more reassurance that this is going to be checked out and the package will be sent to my grandbaby. There is also a couple that only shows in Miami that I am concerned about as well - Packages (#11) and (#13). Please check this out and let me know as soon as possible! Thanks! Happy holidays!

I told her that I shipped the right book and that I had never heard of the items she said she received. She filed a claim to get her money back and said that I sold her items not as described. eBay refunded her money, taking it back out of my account. The book I sent was called Diet and Nutrition Therapy - a pre-nursing text. The two little books I received were The Practice of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy and Dark Enough to See the Stars in a Jamestown Sky - neither of these books have anything at all to do with nursing. I even had a paper inside my envelope that told the customer the name of her item and the total costs. Why couldn't they look at that and see where the correct text went?

She sent the package back to me. I was shocked at what she had received. It was a package that had my original package's address taped to another envelope. It was stamped in bright red letters, "damaged in handling in the post office." I showed it to the clerk at my local post office and she said that this sometimes happens. She would give the postmaster my package and all the evidence I had, and see if they could get my textbook back. She said she would give it to her that day. It was on 09/15/2012 and her name was Angel. I went in several different times and asked her if she had heard anything yet and she repeatedly told me that she had not. Then on 12/09/2012, I went in again and asked the other lady working at the post office. She told me that they did not do that type of thing there and that I should have contacted the postal service myself.

Angel came in and said that my package was still just sitting in her office. She brought it out to me and gave me a paper with mail recovery center search request. I am utterly appalled at the total lack of service and the misuse of my time. The postal service does not care about the people who pat them a great deal of money yearly to ship items. I want my book back and when I called the number on that paper, a lady told me that if I did not have insurance, then it was not their problem and that they could not help me. If the post office can't help, then who can? Because of this postal screw up, I had bad feedback left on my account and this type of feedback causes a loss of business because buyers worry about not getting what they have ordered. It was scanned in by my local post office (Springfield, CO), dispatched to the sorting facility about three hours away (Colorado Springs, CO), and then scanned in as departing the sort facility on the early morning hours of November 24th. The package has not been scanned since. When checking the tracking on the package, it shows expected delivery date of November 26th.

I agreed to replace the order for the customer to try to get it there in time for her son's birthday. I shipped the new package out on Monday, December 3rd. Same story. It was scanned in my local post office, dispatched to the sorting facility, and then scanned as departing the sort facility on the early morning hours of December 4th. Nothing since. Tracking shows expected delivery on December 5th (yesterday). No further scans and no delivery. The packages are addressed to a residential address in Union, KY. Apparently, packages leaving the sort facility in Colorado Springs, CO that are headed to Kentucky would go to a facility in Cincinnati.

What are the chances of this happening to the same package twice?! This clearly is something more than just an accident or oversight. I use packing tape and reinforce the flap seal as well as the side seams to prevent being torn in machines. Even if these packages were accidentally getting torn open by a machine, each package includes my business card and I could be contacted about the problem. These packages have a shirt for a two-year-old child. So, I am not forcing so much into the flat envelope that it is busting at the seams. The shirt and the business card are enclosed in a clear plastic bag that is taped shut with packing tape.

Then, that package is put into the priority mail flat rate envelope. I also have a third package addressed to Houston, TX that also appears to be lost. This is totally unacceptable service by the USPS! This past summer, I ordered a handmade gift for my husband for father's day. The package didn't arrive until several days after Father's Day. It was a priority mail Tyvek style envelope. It had been cleanly cut open and the contents stolen. All I received was an empty envelope. I am very saddened that apparently postal workers feel they can shop for free from other people's packages.

On November 28, 2012, I sent an 8"X11" brown envelope to **, Brooklyn, NY 11217 Certified Mail via the Mineola, NY 11501 Post Office located at 160 1st St Mineola NY 1150-4070 with an expected date of November 30, 2012. As of date, this item has not been delivered. On Monday, 12/3/2012, I contacted the Customer Service number at 1-800-275-8777 and advised them of the situation. I was then advised that the 2-3 business days that are stated are not guaranteed and the actual time frame was 5 days. Upset by this, I advised the representative that there is important and personal information within the package and I need to know when it would be delivered. She was unable to provide this information but advised I continue to check the site for more information.

On Tuesday, 12/4, after checking the site and seeing that my package still has not been delivered, I called Customer Service back. I was then advised to give it another day. On Wednesday, 12/5/2012, once again after noticing my package still has not been delivered, I called Customer Service back regarding my missing package. The representative (Ashley) advised there was no information she could provide me with, but I could file a claim in which I did. My case # ** was filed and I was advised that someone would contact me by the end of 12/6/2012. I then tried calling both facilities listed online, Brooklyn 11256 sort facility, but received no answer.

I then called another Brooklyn office at 542 Atlantic Ave 11217 and a gentleman was able to check and advise me the items still have not scanned into their post office yet when it should have already been there. He advised I call Customer Service back and find out whose route my package was on. Not satisfied, I called back and spoke with a supervisor by the name of Lauri. I asked if there was anyway they could contact the departing facility and see where my package was or whose route my package was on. She stated no and I should contact Consumer Affairs as there is nothing they can do.

On 12/6/2012, I checked online again and still change in my package delivery. I called back and spoke with another female who advised, "It was strange, the package was not delivered yet." But she suggested I wait until the end of today for an investigator to contact me back regarding this matter. I would greatly appreciate if someone could please assist me with this matter.

Last Nov 19th, I had sent an original Certificate of Authorization to Manufacture Notary Seals and Bond, by certified mail, with an application containing personal and credit card information. After days, it was not delivered. I made a written complaint to the USPS website and requested to get a written answer. I still have not received it. Then, on Friday the 30th, I called and complained by phone. On December 2nd, an employee, Yvette, left a massage telling me that they could not track the item and that I had to call the toll free number again on Monday.

On Monday morning, I checked the web again and it showed the item arrived at unit 90052 at 4:38 AM and was delivered at 8:55. I called the Notary Association that same day, but they said nothing was delivered; they were not open on Sundays, and the post office does not work on Sundays either. I called the USPS toll free number again and they confirmed that they delivered it on Sunday and that a J. had signed.

I called the Notary Association twice and asked about the name, but they had no employees with that name. My document is still missing and the Post Office does not want to be responsible for money damages. I had already lost signing loan documents. I had a specific time to get my bond and get my Oath to perform my notary duties, and if I don't do it, I would have to reapply and pay the fees again, which would make me lose more money. This has actually been the second time this year. The post office at Marina Del Rey lost something and did not take responsibility for it.

At approximately 7:20am on 12/5/12, I encountered a truck traveling on southbound Route 9A in New York, between Hawthorne and Elmsford. The truck cab was marked "Contractor Rinaldi, Port Chester, US Mail", and the license plate number was **. The driver barreled up to a pickup truck that was traveling at the speed limit in the left lane (there was a passenger car in the right lane traveling alongside the pickup, matching its speed). He was approaching at a speed clearly and startlingly above the speed limit and nearly rear-ended the pickup.

He drove behind the pickup, no more than one foot from its rear bumper, until the pickup was able to pass the car in the right lane and move over. He then charged up to the next vehicle in the left lane, a van. He again rode alarmingly close to the rear of that vehicle. After a few seconds, he veered around the van (on its right), and back in front of it, nearly removing the van's right front quarter panel in the process. The driver did not slow down until he encountered a red light, at which time I was able to make note of the truck's information and identify the driver as male. Very dangerous driver; it's only a matter of time before he causes a serious accident.

I went in, no pens. Trying to fill out customs form and the last time I went to the counter without my paperwork filled out, I was told with a roll of the eyes that, "I should have seen you coming." I asked the lady in front of me if I could borrow a pen. No luck. She and I then saw a lady return a borrowed pen to Tamara's window. I went to see if I could borrow the pen, 4-5 people in front of me and at least 10 behind me. So I went to her window, stood to the right of the gentleman that she was selling stamps to, asked if I could borrow a pen, then stood to wait understanding she was in the middle of something.

She never once acknowledged my presence. A gentleman who had seen and heard this, who was standing in line, advised me of a pen, the only pen available on a chain hanging off the service counter to the left of the gent buying the stamps. There was a clerk at the window but she was closed, sorting, ignoring me and then Tamara told me that I couldn't stand there. I started to ask the lady sorting notes for a pen and Tamara shoved a pen at me and as I was walking back to my place in line, began to tell the guy she was still selling stamps to that she wasn't going to be bothered by someone trying to get ahead in line to get a pen, that I could wait. I then spoke up, I said that I would fill out my customs form at her window at which time she said others would go ahead of me and I would wait but I had to wait already. I felt like Rosa Parks being told she was going to the back of the bus.

I got to the window, Tamara's window (bear in mind it's really a counter, no window really, I use the term for explanation only). I had gone ahead and filled out the customs form, at which time I told her International Priority to Canada. She looked at my form and told me I had not been specific enough and that "toy" was not adequate. Normally, this process is done at my home. Unfortunately I ran out of printer ink. "Toy" has never been an issue before, but I added RC. She then asked me snotty as heck, "What's that?" I said, "an RC toy, that's what it is." Okay, the rest of the transaction was fine until rather than handing me my change, she held it at minimal a foot, yes, 12" over my hand and dropped it, coins and all, at which time a nickel bunched to the counter. She picked it up and did the same thing.

I turned to the other patrons, a good 15-16 people now, and yup I did, I said it. "What a **." Of course, she then called me racist, then told me "I'm going to... Look I've been here 20 years and this is federal property and if you open your mouth again, I'm going to feel threatened." Of course I said, "and call the police," at which time I turned to all the people standing behind me and asked if she was out of line. Multiple postal patrons nodded their heads. I did nothing to provoke this woman. This is the third time I have gone into this post office in my nearly 3 years in Denver and Tamara has been rude every time. I think she has a problem with the fact that I am a minority in this neighborhood and she is the racist. This is, of course, paraphrased. I called the post office and complained and Ashley at Customer Service was apoplectic and apologetic, took a formal complaint and gave me a confirmation number with the explanation that I would be contacted tomorrow. Let's see.

I finally flagged down ** and he had it behind his seat, very easily could have been placed the package in my box. When I first moved, my student loan check was placed in my old box that did not have a lock on it and I even had a note to help remind Jo that I had moved and had my new address on it. I just happened to see the door open on my old box and saw the college’s name on it, it was my check that I needed for bills.

I never complained about any of these things until I did not receive my EBT renewal form. Why have I still not received that letter from DHR that was mailed out over 2 months ago? I lost a month of benefits that my finance and I depend on while we are in school. That's $367.00! I originally went to the Post Office here in Hamilton, AL and told the clerk about what happened. She wrote all my information down and said she would tell the PM. That was on Thursday, November 27. I still have not received a phone call or any form of trying to resolve the problem. There are a lot of attendants here at the Hamilton Villas that have had problems with Jo and/or the PM not resolving the problems. I knew this would be a bad idea opening this line and I see there is another man behind you with a customs receipt." She proceeded to yell at him since he had the wrong one, all the while trying to type in my info. I always try to joke people out of their bad moods so I just said, "Well, the first customer of the morning is always the hardest, the rest will be better." She said really loud, "All customers are difficult. All take a long time and the rest will not be better." I still tried to be nice and asked her, "What is the easiest, cheapest way to send the package?" She said, "I can't stand chatty people. Look at that line. It is so long and I can't chat with you."

She continued to slam the package around, told me the amount looked like it would be close to $35.00 (it was only 13.00 dollars) and then said she had never seen a postal code for Oxford with UK on it. I pointed out it was UK the country and she said, "I ain't even talking to you." Then she asked me if I need stamps because if I did, then I was out of luck because she did not sell stamps but would add it to my card and I could stand in another line. I told her, "No." By that time I was in tears, so embarrassed over her yelling. I asked to speak with her supervisor and after my transaction, spoke with the supervisor who was very nice and said that all her workers were very stressed and there was nothing she could do about it and she was real sorry.

I felt sorry for the supervisor since she has to put up with these employees. This is the Post Office on Sherman Ave. in Panama City, FL, one I go to all the time. I will never go again. This lady had long pink acrylic nails which curved over into claws and I think she did not like typing. She had long dreadlocks and was black, medium height . Run like the wind if you get in her line. Believe me, it will be better to wait in another line. I cannot believe she is employed there. Plus, she has no sense of humor or customer service skills. Sad, when so many are unemployed. I know a lot of happy people who would love to work there.

My packages (both when sending and receiving) are being targeted and stolen. The tracking tells me that this sorting facility was always the last stop before they all disappeared. I put up a flag, because my car is in the shop and I need my "jury duty" response to go out; it's been up for days. I see mail trucks zoom by (much faster than the speed limit as well, many kids and a grammar school on our street), but not one of them stops to actually deliver or pick up mail. I have been missing a lot of mail since May as well - mail I knew was coming like government mail, mail from the state, mail from my family and friends. I don t know what these people are doing. I even tried to call a few times, but the only response I ever get is "I am not the manager, so I can't do anything about it." When I asked for the headmaster, I mysteriously get disconnected, or he is never there.

Ha! I really hope enough people complain, so the Feds get involved in this. I was really trying to be patient and be nice, but it is only getting worse. I know my sister sent me a letter on Friday night last week. It's an important letter. It's almost Friday again, and I am not getting the letter. As I said, not one mail truck actually stops by any house to deliver the mail. They cannot withhold people's mail because they are running late or not stop to pick up mail if the mail box flag is up. There is something very fishy and illegal going on in this post office. Someone should go and work there under cover and see how they process people's mail that so many of my neighbors are also missing - mail they were expecting and knew was coming. Someone please do something about this post office. Many neighborhoods are dependent on this post office, and we are getting really bad service. Our mail is getting lost, not picked up and not delivered. I will write to the FBI if I have to. I am now desperate and upset enough at this point. This cannot go on.

They are supposed to respond within a certain amount of time. However, after leaving numerous complaints, I have not received any responses. To intelligent people, it is obvious why the USPS has lost 15 billion dollars within a 12-month period of time. The service is poor and the customer care is worse.

This morning I had to mail a rather large package to a customer. I did everything online to save myself some time. I got to the post office (Plainsboro, New Jersey). There were a few people in line. The clerk asked from across the room if the package was prepaid - if it was then to drop it by the door in the hamper. I got out of line, walked over to the door (behind a partition, the office clerks can't see that door). There was no hamper. I got back in line which was now two people longer.

The straw-haired clerk said that it was okay to leave it by the door. "I can't leave the package unattended," I told him. "Well, then you'll have to stay in line," was his rather annoyed answer. I didn't mind (even though he could have offered to take the package especially considering that he knows me for the past 14 years). Right before my turn he announced to his co-worker that he was taking a break. As a huge favor, he told me to put the box on his scale. He printed a receipt and while I was asking him for 2 booklets worth of stamps, he said he was already closed. What?

"Not to worry," he said, "you'll be next in line for the other clerk's window or you can purchase the stamps from the kiosks." There were no people by the kiosks, but the idiotic kiosks no longer dispenses the booklets. I told the other clerk there were no stamps in the kiosks. "Oh, that's right," he said (with a very heavy Asian accent), "it doesn't."

Arghh, I got back in line to get the stamps. Total time wasted in this joke of the post office was 23 minutes. On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being outstanding), their competence is 6, their desire to be of help is 3, and the post office's efficiency is -2 (negative 2). Common people, I know it's not much longer before you're acquired by a logistics company which knows how to run your sort of business, but you must keep up your professionalism or at least show that you care. I honestly dread going to the post office. On the one hand, I want to help them by giving them my business, but on the other is it worth the aggravation or looking at a face that turns red with anger or closing your window right before the person who asked you a question while standing in line? I just don't get it. This is not the post I remember, nor are the same people (most of whom I've seen for the past 14 years) the same.

I mailed USPS insured priority mail a like-new leather icon motorcycle jacket. It was an eBay sale, a $500 jacket for $184. With shipping and insurance, total was about $24 to ship. About two weeks later, the buyer asked where was his package. I tracked it and USPS said it was at a sort facility. A week later, it said something about being at the Georgia lost mail center for handling. They sent me a notice that said what turned up at a sort facility was the empty box! The USPS did not have an explanation. Of course I knew what happened, a USPS employee stole it. Of course the buyer was suspicious, thinking I had not mailed it because I did not get a high enough price. But then he confirmed via USPS (by calling) that the box appeared to have been tampered with.

Although the buyer wanted to wait to see if it turned up (because it was a great jacket at a great price), I refunded his money since 30 days had passed. I then filled out all kinds of forms and sent it to the Georgia Lost Mail Recovery Center or something like that. They sent me a receipt and said since it was insured, do not file a claim and instead, wait to see if they could find it. Eighty days went by from the mailing date and I finally have had it and I filed an insurance claim. Get this, the USPS sent me an email to log on to the site for insurance claims. They tell me "claim denied" because I filed the claim late, after 90 days had gone by. They say I can appeal. I did appeal, telling them that I in fact filed the claim prior to a supposed 90 days deadline and per their own web page, I had to file a claim within 180 days, not 90 days (90 days is the deadline for items sent express mail. Priority Mail has a 180 deadline). Seven months from the date I mailed the item, I got a check in the mail. I figured what the USPS was trying to do is simply deny my claim to see if I would just go away.

So not only did someone working for the USPS steal my mail, but then the USPS wrongfully denies my insurance claim and makes me wait months before getting the money, and made me jump through all kinds of hoops to get the money (when clearly they had evidence showing the item was missing or stolen on its end, not mine). Is it any wonder the USPS is failing? I remember when I was a kid, the carriers always looked sharp in their uniforms. Now carriers look like they are walking on the beach. Shirts are unbuttoned showing a t-shirt underneath. One guy I saw yesterday had half his uniform shirt tucked in, the other half hanging out. From the distance, there's no way these people look like postal employees. They look like bums. The postal employees clearly reflect management who don't give a rip about the organization, customer service or the public they are supposed to be serving. And recently on the nightly news, they broadcasted an expose on how many postal employees are stealing mail and no one gives a rip that this stuff is going on.

And like others have posted on the net, because of USPS's delays in delivery, people who buy from me on eBay give me negative feedback or low DSR (detailed seller ratings). One time I dropped off an item to be shipped. It showed I printed a postage shipping label, but I had not dropped the package off for shipping. The buyer thought I did not ship it because I had underestimated what my usual "free shipping" would be. Out of the clear blue, after I refunded the money and endured accusations that I was a cheat, the package arrived, only 24 days late. While the buyer apologized for his accusations, he still gave me a low DSR on shipping. I have had it with the USPS (and actually eBay too). I am going to do the smart thing, stop using the USPS. I will go back to UPS.

UPS does not fool around. Way back in 2002, a crook bought a $600 watch from me on eBay. He said it never arrived and in his FB said I sent a $10 Casio watch instead. Of course that was a lie. I contacted UPS saying the guy told PayPal the item never arrived. UPS immediately sent the driver to the guy's house to make inquiries. Next thing I know, the guy is kicked off eBay, PayPal gives me my $600 (that it had frozen) and UPS called me to ask "How's it going? We went to the guy's house and we think he is a liar." Wow. I should have stuck with UPS instead of dealing with the USPS morons.

The package was estimated to arrive on Friday, November 2, 2012. According to track and confirm, they attempted delivery on November 2nd but because it was after business hours, they left a notice. No notice was found but because of the fact that the recipient did not receive the package, both she and I (the sender, Margaret **, **) contacted the post office on Saturday, November 3. Nduku was able to schedule redelivery for Monday, November 5th. As of today, November 14, 2012, the package is yet to be delivered.

Nduku has not only arranged for redelivery on more than 4 occasions, but she has physically gone to two post offices, at which she was told the package was located at an attempt to pick it up herself, only to be informed that the package was not there and directed to go to a different facility to pick it up herself. On the last instance in which she went to one of the post offices she was directed to, the supervisor was rude and offensive, even insinuating that maybe I sent the package to the wrong address and that is the reason why it is yet to be delivered. We have both contacted their 800-275-8777 number, spoken to numerous supervisors (all of whom have scheduled redelivery and suggested we contact Consumer Affairs), had case numbers opened, been assured that someone would look into this issue and contact us back within 24-48 hours, but we are yet to hear back from anyone (it's been more than 5 days).

The only option we have at this point is to have Nduku drive across town to the third facility she has been directed to in hopes of locating this package. I am traveling on December 5th and need to have this package located immediately and I am receiving no assistance from the post office. The package tracking number is **. The case number is **.

I have been in this house for 10 years and have never had a problem until April 12. I have had problems with my mail in the past few months. That is when the first package went missing. I called and called the number, left message after message and never received a phone call. In the past month, fuel has also been stolen out of one of my vehicles. Now a second package has gone missing. I called the post office and they said they need a tracking number. There was no tracking number on either package. No problem, so I thought. Our mail should be pretty safe right? No. I was told if there is no tracking number, there is not anything they can do?

So I called and started asking questions about the first package. I was told it was closed after the gentleman spoke to me. I never talked to anyone from the post office. I was told to escalate it to consumer affairs. I did that and now I am being told there is nothing they can do because there are no tracking numbers. So my next question is, what if I receive new bank cards in the mail? They do not put tracking numbers on those? So how would I know if they were missing? The lady I spoke to at consumer affairs was extremely rude today over these same issues. I have wasted several days over an issue that has gone on deaf ears. I am not happy with our so-called postal system. I think next time they want to raise the rates, the answer should be an unequivocal no!

So all mail mailed in the US has tracking numbers? I was told to purchase a PO box or have my packages stay with the postal service. I have a private carrier and in order for that to take place, things would be delayed even more. I have several packages coming in the next few days. I hope none of those are missing because I sure would hate to waste a postal employee's time with my mail issue. Oh and my neighbor is also having the same issue with her mail being taken out of her mailbox as well. Yet this is not a concern to the postal service because they do not have the manpower to stake out people's houses.

Our administration has contacted the local post office and we were told that we were on the end of the route but because our office closes at 4:00, they will not leave mail. They haven't come up with a solution (like changing the delivery route).

In August, I spent over $200 ordering science magazines for my 4th grade students, yet to date, none of them have been delivered due to this hold up. The company (Scholastic) agreed to reship them but I still haven't received them because the post office is not delivering our mail. The teachers are also not getting our monthly Scholastic book order catalogs because the post office won't deliver the mail. So we, and more importantly our students, cannot order books. When students order books, teachers get points that we can apply to earn free books to build up our classroom libraries.

Please, immediately look into this and correct the problem. As a tax payer I expect to get what my tax dollars pay for!

I have a seasonal business with high volumes of shipping during the months of August through October. I converted most of my shipping to USPS vs UPS, who we have used for years. Because we ship so many packages, we use the pick-up service offered by USPS. When you schedule a pick-up, the request asks for the types of packages included in the pick-up request (i.e. express, priority, ground), so they are aware prior to the pick-up what they are receiving. As we approached the holiday, my need for Express shipments increased, so we shipped several packages in this manner. Some packages arrived when expected, while others did not.

When seeking compensation for the late deliveries under the service guarantee, the request was denied with the reason being that we used the pick-up service instead of taking the packages to the post office. Even though the packages were picked up several hours prior to the express cutoff time, these packages were left on the truck until the driver finished his route. In the cases where the packages were late, it was because the driver did not get back to the post office in time. When UPS picks up next day air packages, they get them to a rendezvous point where a designated driver then gets them to the hub so they will make the deadline for shipping. They are given the priority you expect and are not left on the truck while the driver finishes the route. Exactly what I expect with a "guaranteed" service.

Nowhere does it say on the USPS website that express packages using the pick-up service may not ship on the same business day. I feel this should be disclosed. We spent $12,000+ on shipping with USPS in a 90-day span and were very disappointed that our shipments were not given the priority they deserved and was paid for. This will make us rethink who gets our business next season.

The customer service is terrible. While I understand that this post office is in a historically underprivileged area, there is no need for all of the patrons to be the target of the employees' bitterness. The woman with the acrylic nails and the metallic make-up tends to make loud, unprovoked, negative comments at people, even when they are in line or being assisted by someone else. When this happens to me, I just ignore her. I've seen her do this to the poor college kids who try to mail things at that office. Once, I ran out to the office about 10 minutes before closing. She was the only person there, was sitting outside smoking, refused service and yelled at me to "go the hell away" while pointing and snapping her neck.

Now, I am a 5'4" 115-lb lady, usually in office attire and with a very friendly disposition. I do not usually elicit this employee's trademark violence and harassment. The rest of the staff is not much friendlier. One worker with bad eyesight spent about 5 minutes yelling at the customer in front of me denying the prepaid flat-rate package, until finally someone came from the back and read the package out loud to the worker. They yell at almost all of the customers about even the most insignificant things, like if there is no apartment number on the return address. (How do you not know that some people live in houses?)

It is now a month later and the the package still isn't there. I tracked it online and there is nothing on it beyond its arrival at the regional sort facility on the day after I mailed it. Nothing since. I called the international mail department and was told that when we send this "cheap" rate (I paid almost $20 for this "cheap" service), we are not entitled to any information as to where our items are. We are not entitled to a replacement value of the items and if they get lost, that's just too bad.

I was also told that the tracking number we were given for this service is not a "true" tracking number. There is nothing that can be done about it. Excuse me? When I started pressing, the supervisor named Diane at the international tracking started getting quite obnoxious, totally unwilling to do anything constructive or useful about my package being lost. It seems that the post office has it good. It gives itself and its workers a license to steal anything that's mailed at this rate. USPS is not legally responsible for any items sent internationally first class! They can be lost, stolen, handled irresponsibly and USPS has no obligation to do anything about it!

This is the closest thing I know to a legalized theft. Sure guys, go after it if you feel like it - one of the perks of the job. See cute baby stuff wrapped in buybuy Baby boxes, take it! I was given this phone number when I called 1-800-ASK-USPS. Here is the issue: Our mail has not been delivered for almost two weeks now. Our delivery person has been holding it and advised that he had to take all of it back to the post office because our mailbox was full. Our mailbox has been empty for weeks, and I am sure that by now, if he were to deliver our mail it might be full but that is only because he has not been delivering it and it is probably backlogged! I didn't receive shipments that I needed last week by a specific day and he left me a note to pick up my items at the post office. This was extremely inconvenient as I work from 8:00am - 5:00pm. He also did not leave any tracking information for said items, so I requested a re-delivery; and once again, our items did not arrive. I called in to document this instance.

He has also been harassing our tenants. Instance 1: He had a stern talk with one of our tenants, advising that it was inconvenient to deliver our mail because our cars were in the way. He couldn't pull right up, get out, and deliver it. This is extremely unprofessional as we cannot help who and when people (not necessarily our tenants) park in front of our house, as it is a communal street. Instance 2: He asked another tenant who exactly lived in the house. My tenant advised that there were four different people. He then proceeded to say that this was too confusing for him and that it was inconvenient to deliver mail to that many people at one residence.

We finally received our mail today and the way in which it arrived is truly disheartening. The mailbox is still empty, yet he delivered everything with a note that says mailbox full again. Also, he left the items on the floor inside of our gate, not even at the front door, just in a banded, crumbled, bundle in front of our house. This is unacceptable. We have never seemed to have an issue with the mail in the 6 years that I have lived at this residence. I am confused as to why these issues are starting now. I have included pictures from today's instance. I am not sure where to go from here, but I would like this issue addressed immediately. This has hindered me from keeping open lines of communication with family and paying my bills as I have not received any. Please advise.

I mailed a request for an absentee ballot on 10/20/12. I called twice afterward to check that the request had been received. The Registrar's office confirmed on 10/26/12 that they received the request that day, and had mailed me the ballot that same day. I followed up the following Wednesday, 10/31/12, because that is the last day to request a ballot and I had not yet received mine. I was told by the woman I was speaking with that she had personally taken my ballot to the post office, so she knew it had been mailed. She told me if I hadn't received it by the end of the week, to call her back. By the end of the week (11/2/12) I still had not received the ballot. I called but unfortunately had missed their business hours that Friday. I tried again on Saturday, but they were closed.

I called my local post office and spoke to my mail carrier as well as the postmaster, both who adamantly swore if the absentee ballot had come through their office, it would have been put in my mailbox (I have a locked mailbox, so no one could have removed it). I asked them to double check to make sure it hadn't been misplaced and they assured me it was not.

I was finally able to get a hold of someone at the Registrar's office today (Monday, 11/5/12). It took quite some finagling (I had to call the Secretary of State's Election Office). But I finally got someone to agree to send me a new ballot overnight but as required by law, it must be sent out via the US Postal system. The earliest next day delivery the post office can guarantee is 12 pm tomorrow. In order for me to ship the ballot for same day delivery (ballot is due by the end of polls on election Tuesday to count), I have to send it via courier by 9 am (which would cost me $375 by the way).

I've been screwed out of voting this year by the US Postal Service. I personally know the people at the Registrar's office (it's a small town) and I believe that they took it to the post office and mailed it. USPS lost the ballot. I am furious!

At 6:30 pm, I checked and my outgoing was gone but no incoming mail for two days now. I was expecting an important document that should have arrive yesterday, Oct. 31 2012. I have documents that should have gone out yesterday to assure delivery by a certain time. This has been an ongoing problem as I have stated and it is quite frustrating. This affects both our Church, St. Anthony Catholic Church at 820 Marcum Road, Lakeland, FL. 33809 and our school at 924 Marcum Road, St. Anthony Catholic School.

I was told at one point that our regular mail carrier was sick and her daughter was delivering the mail for her. I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem. I do know the substitute carrier, whoever she is. When I've seen her on those rare occasions that our mail arrives prior to 5:00 pm, she is not wearing anything that identifies her as a USPS employee.

I've noticed that since closing my post office box located at my local post office that the mail being delivered to my home is being misdelivered. I hardly had to deal with mail coming to my home since lately, due to high rising cost of a small post office box. I called the local post office on numerous occasion that my mail was being delivered to surrounding neighbors, important letters which included my social security number, and home information. I've also received mail at my home address of other neighbors, and had to go to their property to deliver their mail to them.

The local post office asked that I contact the nearest annex location. I did so, and reported my concerns on 10/26/2012. The person who answered stated that this would be reported to the supervisor at my local post office. The individual stated that she would have the mail carrier place a pink sticker on my mail box to remind them to double check the mail being delivered to my home address. If the mail carrier does not place the sticker on my box, to call the Annex location back. I had to call the Annex location again on 10/26/12 to advise that I had received neighbors' mail, and upon trying to stop the mail carrier, they continue to go on without stopping to my calls to wait. The mail carrier had on musical head phones, and could not hear me which I've been told is not allowed when delivering mail.

The package that states was never delivered is under tracking number **. The package was actually delivered on 10/26/2012, but the website for USPS states that a notice was left for me to call to reschedule delivery, or pick up package at the post office. I called 1-800-275-8777 to speak to a Customer Service representative to report the concerns, and discrepancies on their USPS website. The representative had given me Case number ** and that I would receive a call back within 2 days. I had to call later this evening to report that I was expecting package with tracking # ** that states on their website out for delivery on 10/29/2012 at 7:46 am. The second call to the USPS toll free number was made after 7:30 pm to report the package was never delivered to my home. The representative then had given me CA ** as a new case. The customer service representative then canceled the first case # that was made earlier this morning. I asked as to why cancel the first case number when it had not been resolved. He only raised his voice, and stated that it would work itself out, which is not a solution to the problem.

I have to address the fact that this reflects on my account when ordering, and items not being updated properly to allow the seller to conclude that the merchandise has been delivered. Then as I hung up the phone from the Customer Service representative, I heard someone dropping mail through my mail slot, and the sound of something hitting the living room floor. This is because my mail slot is made into my front door of the house that I reside. This was at 7:46 pm, and I immediately called the USPS toll free number to report that a neighbor had dropped off two packages, and four pieces of mail. Again, the mail carrier had delivered my mail at the wrong address, and this is an ongoing matter, that the local post office is aware of these continued problems.

How can the Consumer Affairs department assist with this ongoing problem that the local, and customer service department for the USPS have not done? Please assist, because it is vital that the mail be delivered to the correct address especially when they are delivered mail that contains social security, phone numbers, and pertinent information that can result in identity theft, and monetary loss in valuable items ordered, and is being misdelivered.

85% of my mail doesn't arrive at an address in Middletown! - Since moving overseas almost 8 years ago, my husband and I have sent and received dozens of letters and cards to and from different addresses in NJ and NY. Strangely, there is a lot of missing mail that goes through the Middletown post office in NY. At the beginning, we thought it's just a coincidence, but we no longer will send anything by mail there anymore, as almost every letter gets lost! It's a pity, as we always put a lot of effort into buying; e.g., nice birthday cards, etc. and think of what to write. And it does add up to pay for stamps and cards that no one ever benefits by. We are very disappointed!

Now on my 4th try, the USPS responded by putting out an incorrect version of what my address was. Thus, my correct Post Office Box U30 was incorrectly interpreted as U1, 430, V30, etc. The result is undelivered and missing mail. I have called the local post office, my home post office, and sent e-mails to the USPS that yielded nothing. I don't know what else to do other than support efforts to privatize mail delivery. Until that happens, I will be forced to use UPS mail boxes.

I sold a computer on eBay in July 2012 and took this item to the U.S. Post Office in Mt. Vernon, Missouri to mail out. The U.S. postal worker helped me package this, taped this and assured me that this computer was packaged properly. She even sold me USPS insurance. The buyer received this item but it was damaged and did not work. He took this to his post office in Florida, where the postal worker there stated that it was not packaged properly. I filed a claim with the USPS insurance. However, there was a computer glitch on their end and in error, they denied my claim.

I called them and they resubmitted by claim, which was again denied, stating that it was not packaged properly. I have filed a second appeal on 09/20/2012, where I submitted a handwritten statement from the Mt. Vernon USPS postal worker (who assisted in packaging this item) stating that the packaging was in accordance to USPS standards.

My second appeal is still pending. It has been over a month from filing my second appeal. I followed the guidelines for packaging this item through the USPS. If this was not packaged properly at the Mt. Vernon Post Office, then I would not have purchased the insurance. I have documentation stating that this was packaged properly. Can you please help me? I am out approximately $850.00 and don't even have the computer. With the way the economy is, I cannot afford this aggravation. Please help me.

A relative of mine bought several $1,000 postal money orders thinking they'd be safe and easy to cash. I took them to PO's and was told they could not cash them if there wasn't enough money at the post office to cover the cost. Every post office I called told me the same thing. I took them to a local bank and the bank refused to have anything to do with them claiming that postal money orders in particular (not MoneyGram or cashier's checks) were notorious for insufficient funds when banks attempted to cash them. This is not a result of counterfeiting. This is because the post offices will not necessarily cover their own paper currencies if the amounts are large leaving the customer with 'bad paper' and the burden of chasing their own money.

Even check-cashing places refused post office money orders. In smaller amounts, you may have better luck but not with post office money orders over $500. They will not guarantee cashing them. I had to return the money orders to this relative who was told by their local post office that they could only exchange them for new ones - not resolving the problem. Hopefully, he will be able to deposit them into his own bank account. If he can't, is there any other recourse?

I went to usps.com and got the 1-800 number. I called and explained the circumstances and got a case # and a promise to call back within a half hour. No call ever came. I called again Saturday and was not contacted back. I checked the website Monday morning - tracking number said that the package was not delivered, but it was sent back to local facility with the explanation that the occupant had moved and left no forwarding order. Funny, since that same day, Friday 10/19/12, mail was left in the mailbox and I am sure the dog was barking profusely when the mailman came.

Sender rec'd package back on Wednesday and I was told that it would cost $34.00 to get the package back to my location on time. USPS refused to pay for their error. How ludicrous and unbusinesslike. They think they are so big that I don't matter. This was not an error on the sender, on the receiver, but on the “replacement” carrier who was working that day. Perhaps he/she should be trained better or not be so lazy. I went to the local post office today and was given the same speech and told to call Consumer Affairs. Of course, I did and there were two choices: leave a message or go to website for assistance, both of which I tried and both of which USPS failed at. No wonder, no one uses the USPS anymore.

My carrier quit delivering my mail over a year ago without explanation. When I called to complain, I was told the carrier is fearful of dogs, and since I have a dog, she will not deliver my mail to the mailbox on my porch. The dog (a 35 lb. friendly mixed breed) likes to be able to see outside, so I had started leaving the glass storm door dead bolted and the main wood door open. I want to make clear that there has never been an incident of my pet being unsecured or having any physical contact with the letter carrier. Joyce in my city post office suggested I could purchase a P.O. Box or erect a mailbox by the curb. I told Joyce that none of my neighbors with dogs have special delivery requirements and that I believe this is retribution from the carrier for complaints I have filed against her in the past (delivering all my neighbors' mail to my house, for example).

After 2 weeks of non-service, I finally spoke to the Postmaster General in Michigan who ordered that my mail delivery be restored as there was never any incident between the carrier and the dog. As a compromise, I agreed that when I was not at home, I would close the wood door and the storm door. However, on Saturdays or any other day when I am home and have only the storm door closed, I do not receive my mail. I feel persecuted because I've spoken up against the carrier and her manager Joyce, and I feel imprisoned by the U.S. post office in my own home. Joyce has told me repeatedly that I have to follow her rules or she will not require her carrier to deliver my mail. This is my last resort before I give up on the USPS entirely.

I had been expecting several packages that week, which one had already arrived. On Thurs., Oct. 18, 2012, a door tag was left in my mailbox with only the following information: today’s date (10/18), available for pick up after (10/19), my name and address, and checked were item is at post office and parcel. The driver left no article number. (I left my house for less than one hour to grocery shop.) That same day at 1:10pm, I went to their website, usps.com/redelivery, to schedule a redelivery and got a confirmation #. I scheduled the redelivery for Saturday 10/20/2012. I noticed a package at my door that evening. (I was home all day and the doorbell never rang.) I thought to myself this couldn't be the same package they left the door tag for; otherwise, they would have just left it.

Monday morning (10/22/2012), I called the 800 number on my door tag. I first spoke to Sammy, who looked up my redelivery confirmation # and he said it was delivered Saturday. I told him this is not the same package. He also said the tracking # I had was not a valid one, so he could not locate it. I asked for the station #, which he gave me. I called that number five times, and no one picks up the line. So now, it's 9:55 am. I called the 800 number again and spoke to Bart to explain the situation. He assigned two case #'s: one for the lost package and the other for no one answering the station phone. He said someone will call me within 24 hours. No one called that day.

It’s Tuesday (10/23/2012), 9:10am. I called the station number - no answer. Then the 800 number again and this time I spoke to Susan. I told her no one has called me and no one picks up the station phone. She said someone will call me within 24 hours but it's by the end of the next business day. I asked her for the station supervisor's name. She said she doesn't have that information but I could call Consumer Affairs as they handle the regional USPS. Okay, so I called Consumer Affairs at 9:16 am, got a machine, and left a message to call me. It’s now 10:05 am. We’ll see what happens from here. This is not my first negative experience with the USPS, but it is my first written complaint. I will submit another rating tomorrow, after they address the issues.

US Post office postal carrier in our route had problems with delivering certified mail (important documents and checks from death benefits) to me after my father passed away recently. I asked questions to the carrier and the PO regarding redelivery, etc. The carrier was aloof and had a bad disposition. He redelivered the next day and he was knocking hard on the front door and opened door halfway. I was half inside the doorway and partly outside when I took the mail from him and then had to sign again for certified mail after signing form.

He was rude and had an “I don’t care” attitude. I was cool about it and then he made some derogatory comments and said I was a loser and, “What are you doing living with your mom?" Now that was the last straw and I told him to leave and he was taking my certified letter that was very important, of course. He was like nervous and not thinking rationally. He was cursing and I thought like in the past he was going postal. His disposition, when he came to the door was already not good from the beginning. This was my first time meeting him. I don’t live at my parents’ home (father recently deceased), which is now my disabled older mom’s. I am not a resident of the area also.

I made a complaint with the Post office (Sheffield station in Wayne , NJ) to a Russel and he apologized. I figured the postal carrier was angry and worried about his job/comments. I also made a complaint with the main postal customer service representative the next day. I had a claim number and was very detailed and accurate. They also apologized profusely. My mother was upset not getting mail the next day and she approached the mail carrier on the road. He stated, “I don’t have to deliver your mail based on his complaint with my supervisor.” I noted he might talk to his superior or supervisor. He gave my mom a form with his name and supervisor’s name. My mom called and he stated there was an altercation and it was like our fault and he does not have to deliver the mail.

I called the Post office customer service a few days later, on a Monday, since they said they could not resolve the issue on the weekend. I was told to call before 5pm on Monday and it would be resolved. The representative and then a supervisor really did not know. One said it was resolved and the supervisor resubmitted claim. I just want the mail delivered to my mom. She is an older senior and disabled and dealing with the death of my father/husband recently and need the important mail that is coming with regards to debts, bills, and banking information, etc. I even picked up the mail at the Post office Sheffield location on Monday since no delivery since Friday/weekend prior. The postmaster came out along with the postal agent who took my complaint prior. The postmaster was like insinuating that I caused the alteration. Now this is a problem and he stated he does not have to deliver mail if he feels unsafe. It was me who felt unsafe and threatened and worried after that day about my mom getting mail or other problems.

So in conclusion I am still waiting for it to be resolved like they stated. Postmaster at carrier location said a postal inspector would come out the next day being Tuesday with mail and statement from me. I should have called the police when I had my phone with me and told the carrier I will call the police with your confrontation and derogatory remarks to me. I will follow up after tomorrow for the resolution. It seems the customer is not right in this respect and there was no witness and I was at my front door inside the home. It seems this carrier is an ex-Vietnam vet. He stated, “I am an ex-honorable war vet/US Air Force trained by Vietnam vet and have many acquaintances and friends who are Vietnam veterans, purple heart and many American Legion members.”

I did not want this to come to this and backed off at first and now it’s like we are at fault. What has this government or agency or Post office, which is run like a private business but also covered by the Government? What is it? I always know even if hearsay, you could be fired as I know from my past and employment over the years. Seems like the Post office is just one of the problems and the people they hire as I asked for a job and I would do it better than them.

I noticed it hadn't been updated since being shipped yesterday and hadn't even been received in my state so clearly there was a problem.

What they should have done: "I'm very sorry, sir. We will put an immediate trace on the item starting with the plane and the plane's destination. We will also ask the post office who sent it to do a search. Of course, you will be granted an immediate refund for the $19.95 you spent to have it shipped. Simply bring in your track and confirm number to any local post office. If the item is found in the next 48 hours, we will continue the delivery free of charge and even waive any Sunday premiums if applicable. If the item can't be found, we can get you started on these forms. Simply take them and receipt of item to your local post office that will send them to accounting division and your account should be credited with 72 hours. Again our apologies and we will continue to update the item's status and what's being done to remedy the issue. Thanks for your understanding and our apologies once again."

This is what happened: "I understand it's showing it hasn't arrived in your state but they have until 3pm to deliver and it's 2:40pm. You will have to call back." (I called after 3pm and got a different woman.) "I'm sorry, sir. I will start a research on the item. I can't speculate on when you would hear from us. Can you describe to me exactly the item that's being shipped? I really won't know anything until the research is complete, sir." They have no apparent courtesy updates, offered no refund, not even to waive Sunday premium if the item is found today, didn't even commit to calling me (period), and gave no information on lost item claim procedures.

I found out that in all likelihood I will have to hound them until they admit the item is lost then use my time and gas to fill out printed paperwork, bring in the receipt from purchaser and have the post office mail complaint to accounting division when they finally approve it. I will have my account credited in around 30 days, usually! Completely unreasonable to ask your customer to wait a month to get their money back for a service you failed to provide. Now I'm stuck as I have no clue what will happen, can't purchase an overpriced one locally until I know and have wasted a Saturday morning waiting. If this isn't corrected soon, I will notify the seller that I won't do business with him until he offers FedEx or UPS. Please treat your customers with more attention. They are the wronged party.

Your service is very good when it functions properly but when there is a hiccup which apparently happens fairly often, the response and communication with the customer is deplorable. I want to remain a USPS customer but if I'm waiting days to hear about my overnight delivery or months to get back the money spent on a broken promise, I'll use other services. Thanks.

This car had nowhere to go. As big as the truck was, the Cooper could not see if they could get into the right lane safely. The driver stayed so close that the Copper finally had to move onto the grass median to the left. We called the highway patrol but never saw him get pulled over. I hope this driver gets fired.

As a result, the mail continued to be delivered the entire time including a Bankcard, which sat in the box for four days where anyone walking down the sidewalk could have taken it out and used it. This type of service is unacceptable and some type of action should be taken to insure this does not happen again.

USPS El Paso 79925 N. Yarborough location problems - A priority mail package that was expected delivery on 10/6 is lost as of 10/13/12. Upon calling and complaining most of the week, I was told that the name on the mail didn't match a list from the apartment complex of who is on the lease. The mail goes to my son, and my spouse and I were on the lease. After making a complaint, my son stated that his forwarded mail has now all of a sudden stopped and the index card inside the mailbox has his last name crossed off.

This is retaliation and is not the mailman's concern or business on who is on a lease or who to deliver the mail to. This is mail tampering and purposely withholding mail is a crime. The responsibility of the post office is to deliver the mail to the addressee on the mail. It's a concern for them if it is returned or states 'Return to Sender' in which case none of this applies. I have filed two complaints online at usps.com and my son has filed one but we are not getting any replies or responses on those. He intends to go in person and talk to a supervisor but I have a feeling it's hopeless. There should be some law against this and this is not acceptable.

They had no sense of urgency or concern for the customer (me). They provided no information beyond what is available on the tracking. They did not call back ever. I had to make repeated call backs for update information. There was no update information because it appeared despite the calls that no one was working on resolving the issue of the lost package. The supervisor, Betty, in Dearborn invited me to come see her desk of heavy workload. She was completely unhinged and unprofessional. She, without a doubt, does not need to be working in a leadership role with the public or in any capacity. End result, they noted my account as package delivered when the recipient continually stated having not received. I had to cancel the money order which took 30 days to refund. This was my rent and no one assisted in locating the package. No effort was inexcusable.

I'm fed up with the postal service in general and the Johnson City Tennessee post office in particular. This is the second time this month that a bill payment I mailed at the post office has gotten lost in the mail. Both times I had to stop payment on the checks, and my bank charges a $36.00 fee for this service. What is their problem? The consequences were spending $72.00 in stop-payment fees (which I can ill-afford), being on hold for lengthy periods with the bank and credit card company, and the stress and anxiety caused by having my mail lost. I mail all my bills at the post office because the mailman will not pick up mail here unless he has some to leave. No wonder the post office is going bankrupt.

Redelivery Request of Postage due package: Two weeks ago, I found a notice in my PO box stating that a package (with postage due) was available for pickup, but it would be returned to sender if it wasn't picked up within 5 days. The notice indicated that the package was a "wallet" which was quite exciting because my wallet had been lost or stolen about two months prior. Unfortunately, the notice had been in my box longer than 5 days and the package had already been returned. I was told by the USPS clerk that I should wait a week and call back to see if a second attempt had been made. I checked a week later, but the news wasn't good, and the clerk then suggested that I contact Consumer Affairs to find out more about where my package went.

She even went as far as getting Darrell's new address from a letter I sent him and talked to him on the phone to find out what mail I could have and what I could not. I made complaints on her and my lawyer sent her a letter. I have a court order saying that I can get the mail. I showed her the copy and she made a copy of it anyway.

I didn't get some bills in September or October. When I called up Windstream, they said that they got a change of address per post office to ** on August 14. My name was the only one on the phone bill. So now, I have to call all the places again to make sure that the post master didn't send a change of address to them. I am expecting my car title and if she sends it to **, I will not get it. That is Darrell's mom address and Darrell lives in Tenn. So what can I do to stop this lady from all of these? I stopped using the post office except to pick up my mail because something I sent never got to where it was supposed to go. And how can she send a change of address?

For me, this lady got right in the middle of this divorce and I don't know why? Can you tell me what to do to stop her from doing things like this? Again, thank you. Things were going fine until August when the request was sent per post office.

I have been calling daily trying to get someone to tell me where a package that was mailed to me was. The package was initially mailed from Fairview Heights, IL on the 20th of September. The package (glasses) was mailed 1st class, insured - **. I have spoken several times with the sender, Total Eyewear Outlet (tel. 618-628-8868), and they said that when they talked to USPS, they were told the glasses’ approximate arrival time was supposed to be 9/24-26. My husband and I are in the process of moving so a change of address had been put in a week or so before, so I didn't panic when they were taking a little time. But during that time, I was continually making calls between the annex in Park Hills, MO and West Lafayette, IN trying to keep track of where they were.

A week ago today, I spoke with the annex in Park Hills and he told me that the person delivering our mail had stopped delivering mail to us here because she knew we were moving which we had spoken with her about everything one day when she was delivering mail. So after calling USPS several times this week and them starting a case for me regarding this issue, **, I was told at that time someone would be getting back with me in 24 hours, which never happened! At the time the case was started (10/2-3), I was told that the package had been in Kokomo, IN (10/1)which is not that far from West Lafayette. No other records could be seen after the first. So I finally got in touch with the West Lafayette annex after many, many calls and they told me that they could not believe they hadn't already reached them from Kokomo! Plus he thought it was strange that nothing else had been documented since the first.

I was told again that he would look into the situation and figure out what was going on and he would call me back. I talked with West Lafayette on 10/4 around 12:30 Eastern time or so, still I have heard nothing. I started calling trying to find something out at 11:30 am Central time. I called the West Lafayette Post Office first where I kept getting recordings saying the system was not working or a fast busy. After 4-5 times calling and getting the same response, I again called USPS 800-275-8777 around 2:42 pm Central time. I had trouble getting them to research the number I was given to track the package because it was not actually a tracking number but a number for the insurance, which was very frustrating! She really didn't want to help me you could tell. She couldn't find out any information and again I was given the Consumers Affairs of Greater Indianapolis, Indiana tel. # 800-558-1777.

I immediately called them because it was already 4:29 pm Eastern time. However, I could not get anyone to answer. I tried different options and finally I spoke with someone at opt 3 or 2 and she told to call back 7 do opt 1, which I did 7 times up until 4:48 pm Eastern time. The person I spoke with when I actually did get to speak with someone said someone should be there until 5! I left a couple of messages at opt 1, but still no calls back. I don't understand why no one was in the office at those times if they were open until 5 pm. Now I have to wait until at least Tues the 9th to try to get things figured out. I don't know what to do. I just need my glasses. Someone should call me back when they said they would! The glasses have been paid for six weeks ago. I could have totally driven and gotten them if I knew this would have happened. Help, please.

She did not fill out form 2856 when Ms. ** brought the item to the post office for verification that it was broken and that the packaging was okay, as specified in a letter to her. Even though she read and wrote Ms. ** information on the letter, she did not understand that she was required to process form 2856.

After much e-mail between Ms. Patricia ** and I, I was under the impression that she thought the goblet in question was packaged properly and that the damage was the post office's fault. I was also under the impression that she would submit form 2856 with a note stating that the form was being sent in late due to her misunderstanding and not the fault of myself (the mailer) or Ms. ** (the receiver). However, it has been more than 1 month since I received that email from Ms. Patricia ** and I still have not received payment on my claim. I am a small business and the cost of replacement of product and reshipping is not easily absorbed. Also, why do I pay for insurance if the post office will not honor it? I put in for only the cost of the one item since the other 5 items arrived safely. I am only trying to recoup my costs.

We ship large volumes of mail via USPS. So much in fact that we are the single reason our local post office remained in business when they did their big downsize a couple months ago. We ship out orders from $5 to $5000 all the time. Of course, we place values on our expensive shipments that go overseas. I shipped out a package on July 6, 2012 and the customer still has not received it (as of today, Oct 4, 2012). I called USPS to have a trace placed on it since its last update was that it was scanned in Lansing's sort facility (100% of the packages we ship internationally go to the Chicago or NY International sort facilities after Lansing and before leaving the country). He stated a refund or insurance could not be granted on this package because they were not required to track it and therefore could not determine whether or not they lost the package. Are you kidding me?

I asked then if they could tell me whether or not its next destination after Lansing was the international sort facility in Chicago where all of our other packages to Great Britain make their next stop. The manager stated that the sort facility isn't open to the public and therefore that information was not available. Are you kidding me?! So, he then advised that I check with all of Great Britain's customs offices and with each of Great Britain's postal services to ensure that the package had not in fact reached its destination and that our customer was trying to scam us.

Luckily, our customer had already done his research over the course of the last two months (after waiting his normal 1 month to receive the package from USPS) and emailed us copies of all the customs office and postal office confirmations stating the package had not yet reached any of their offices. The manager at USPS just restated that it was not their responsibility to track the package and because of that, it could not be determined they lost that package and it could still be en route, therefore making the shipment nonrefundable and ineligible for insurance claim. Are you kidding me?!

When we first started doing business in 2003, we used USPS exclusively for shipping to customers. We were lucky to only have 1 or 2 packages lost by USPS a year. Now, it has become almost a monthly routine and we have yet to receive any type of reimbursement from USPS because they drag out their refund policies into 2- to 3-month endeavors - where you jump through a dozen hoops and print 10 pages that have to be mailed to 5 different addresses then wait for 4 weeks to get a response (that almost always rejects it for some "unlisted" reason) and hope that you can still file an appeal within the 30 days from the first filing.

How is anyone supposed to still use USPS when USPS cannot track the packages you turn into them? How is anyone supposed to trust that the package will reach its recipient when the USPS is so readily answering that it's not their responsibility? How is anyone supposed to keep using USPS service when it's losing us money in replacing the packages lost by USPS and in the postage paid to ensure the packages arrive to customers?

At this rate, I cannot wait until USPS makes the final plunge out of business. I cannot wait until I can remove USPS from our list of shipping methods used. Our customers are getting smart though and it's becoming a more frequent customer request to pay a little more for UPS service to avoid the hassle caused by USPS. Maybe we won't have to wait until they go out of business since USPS is doing such a good job of ruining the experiences everyone has with them.

When I tracked the other two, I found one went to Memphis, TN. The other went due west to Los Angeles. Two days later, it went to Cincinnati, OH. It's a consistent problem with them. Other problems I've had are damaged items, including packages torn open or smashed and bent. They used to do a great job, and I hear a lot about that, but for me and apparently several others, they are at an all-time low. The newest problem they've had is that their carriers/routes are so predictable that thieves follow them to watch for packages left on porches. They double back later, and if the package remains on the porch, they steal it. I guess that's not their problem, or is it? For now I have the route person put it in my mailbox if it will fit, but I have them take it back for me to pick up at the counter if it's too big.

I called many numbers trying to seek help for my lost medications and Social Security card and other important mail. I went to the post office at least 7 times. Once, a rep. took me and my son into the office and she pulled-up on the computer and said, "Oh, it was done again after your first complaint, Aug. 10, 2012 and again on Aug. 27, 2012." As she was looking at the computer, she mentioned a person's name and part of an address. She said the postal service needs to protect the person doing this. That is their policy. I guess that means forget me.

My husband and I purchased an item on eBay. It was paid for on 09-02-12 and should have been received on 09-15-12 at the latest estimated date of delivery. The package was not received until 09-22-12. When the box was opened, there was another box inside that was heavily damaged and falling apart. The item ordered (a sulkeye with a black swivel arm) was within the damaged box; however, part of the item was missing. The black swivel arm was not inside, only the diamond plated platform. We contacted the seller on eBay, who advised that the swivel arm was attached to the platform when he packaged the item and the only way it could be taken apart was for someone to physically use a pair of pliers to take it apart. The seller also advised that he only had the item packaged in one box, not two.

My husband took both boxes to the local post office (Warner Robins, GA) and spoke to the supervisor **. Mr. ** very quickly tried to dismiss my husband by stating that the post office could not do anything about the matter. My husband did show Mr. ** that the damaged box inside the other box had been tampered with. It appears that someone removed the original post markings, stamps and labels and re-taped them onto the outer new box. He did however advise my husband that this should have been caught.

We are very displeased at how this matter was handled. We are paying customers and were dismissed as though the post office held no responsibility in the damaged package. I don't care if it was damaged here or where it was shipped from. Someone along the way repacked it; at that point the shipper (also the seller) should have been contacted to ensure no items were missing. This was not done. We will be filing a police report regarding this matter.

My sister in Vegas called the Vegas office and was told that when you register a package, it goes by bus and they cannot track it. So what good is paying for tracking if it cannot be tracked?! I get it, they just need the extra money to line pockets. I still have not been able to track my mother's ashes. We have a memorial on 9/22/2012 for my mother in NJ to be placed next to her mother. I guess that will not take place. Thank you, USPS.

Lost registered mail (insured) for 6 months: We shipped a laptop computer to an APO address, 03-23-12, by registered mail valued at over $2,000. It never arrived. We even had someone at the military post office in Afghanistan search for it and say it never arrived. We had other military search for it and were not able to locate the package. We finally filed the insurance claim and it was received by the USPS Claims Dept. in St. Louis on June 8th. On June 25th, they sent a notice to the military to see if it could be located. On July 11th, they sent a second notice to the military to see if it could be located. On both occasions they said we had to wait 60 days for a response from the military. We waited the 60 days and were told a check should be sent since the military did not find the package.

Now it is 09-20-12 and we were told that the reason it did not arrive was that the address was wrong. We know from our other military contacts that the address was not wrong. We even talked to a supervisor at the USPS claims in St. Louis and all they say now is that we have to wait yet another 30 days. Once that 30-day period is up, they will probably come up with another excuse to not pay the insurance claim. Registered mail is the safest way to ship with the USPS and the package has to be signed for at each step so it didn't just get lost. Someone stole it.

I run a small online clothing company. I send out packages to sponsored riders and celebrities a few times a year. This case is about two packages lost in a matter of 2 months (July-Sept). The first box I sent was to a friend who is a pretty famous choreographer. He practically lives in the next city over. I sent the package with delivery confirmation. He never received it. I called the post office and they said it was delivered and accused the recipient of stealing it. Until this day, that package is lost. I have a total loss of $50 worth of clothing. Confirmation is a waste of money. It only confirms that the package was dropped off. After weeks of calling and arguing, I gave up.

The second box was sent to a celebrity model. I gave it about 4 days to contact the person if they received it. This person lives in the county next to me. They never received the box. But this time, I thought I was smarter and I got insurance. Wrong. USPS states that if in the system it says delivered, you get no claim. Are you serious?! Honestly, what is the point of insurance? Anyone can leave a package on the ground or on the lawn or up in the tree and say it's delivered. And if that's the case, I should have just gotten the regular confirmation instead. I truly believed that insurance was going to protect me, but I am now starting to figure that USPS doesn't really give a flying F about its customers.

I am still fighting this claim as we speak, but I highly doubt they are going to help me. The local postmaster said that I should have had signature confirmation. Oh great, another way to make me spend more money so that they can tell me another ** reason why it was lost. "Well the neighbor's dog signed for it so it was delivered." In conclusion, confirmation and insurance = big waste of time.

I have been shipping from my small business with the USPS for over 3 years now. In all my time, I have never seen anything like this. What I shipped in a small flat rate priority box was a leather costume mask. Hardened leather is very durable. It's wood-like and still pliable, so I have figured they were safe. So when I received these images from a customer of my mask permanently bent and destroyed and the box mashed, I was floored. The box would have had to have been bent in half for a week in order to do this kind of damage.

When I looked up what I could do is when I got mad. No insurance means they will do nothing. Why would I have bothered with insurance? These masks are durable, there is no way they could be destroyed unless someone ran over them with a truck. I place items in the USPS's hands with the expectation that yes, it may get tossed, dropped and jumbled, but I think I have a reasonable expectation of service when I ship something and the box remains a box through the entire trip. My reasonable expectation is that my box is not going to be bent in half. Then to say it's my fault for not insuring it?

Let me put this another way. You hire a plumber to fix your sink. Your reasonable expectation is that your sink will get fixed and that a little water may get on your floor. The plumber does fix your sink but lights your kitchen on fire in the process. And when you confront them about it, you're told "Well, you didn't pay me not to do that so it's all your fault." The USPS deals in extortion, plain and simple. Pay us more money or your packages get it!

On August 16, 2012, I mailed a box (approximately 20" X 20") to my son who is stationed in the Air Force in Germany. He still has not received this box which contained about $800 in uniforms. Shortly after August 16, I sent four other similar packages on four separate occasions to the same address and all of these packages have arrived - less than 10 days each.

My drop off location for this lost package was the UPS Store (#296) located at 6050 Peachtree Parkway, Suite 240, Norcross, Georgia 30092. I paid for the postage at this UPS store. The packing slip number is **. The US post office then picked up the package from the UPS store, and the package was brought to the following branch location: 5600 Spalding Drive, Norcross, GA 30092. According to UPS officials, the post office personnel did not scan the box's bar code when they picked up the package, nor did the post office personnel issue a receipt.

When we went to the post office to track the package, we were told (by rude employees) that they did not scan the package when it arrived at the post office, nor did they scan the package before it was shipped out. Therefore, we were told that they can't search/track for the package because they didn't scan it. In other words, they didn't put any system in place to locate the package.

We are extremely disappointed that our package worth $800 has been lost, and we are extremely angry that the US Post Office did not scan the package or put any type of tracking system in place to monitor the progress of the package reaching its location. We are also very disturbed by the disrespectful employees we dealt with at this post office. We request information about who is taking responsibility for this issue and who we can work with to resolve this matter. We also ask to be compensated $800 if our package is not found very soon.

The first parcel was a $20.00 purchase and it wasn’t worth my time to spend a week and a half, like I am now, to find out what happened to it, so I reordered it and repaid for it and it came. I didn’t even report the first time.

Okay, here we go to the meat and potatoes of this issue. I ordered a pair of shoes several weeks ago and tracked them as usual at my job via the internet and told my girlfriend to be on the lookout for them throughout the day as they should arrive at 11:47 am. USPS tracking showed they were in fact delivered, so I called my girlfriend at 12:00 just a few minutes later and told her to look outside the door and get them. Well, as you can guess, they weren’t there. There’s no notice on the door and the office lady said they were not there either. Then I knew I was screwed! Anyway, I called USPS and requested they open a case. They said okay and they will call me back on 9-4-12 with their findings. And guess what? You guessed it: no one called. So I called again and they said they will reissue the case and someone will call me back. And of course, they didn’t. It will be 2 weeks now! Enough is enough! I’m tired of being brushed off.

P.S.: I live in a closed-in apartment and you have to walk through an entrance door that leads to 6 apartments. I say that to say my apartment door is not exposed to the outside/non-residence. I am not frustrated with you all, it’s the USPS. Hmm, wonder why they are losing billions every quarter and are all but bankrupt? Don’t use our tax dollars to keep funding that sinking ship. Sorry, just a little comic relief.

I shipped a box from Chattanooga, TN to San Diego, CA on July 25, 2012. The box is missing. I talked with both post office and did not get much help. They started pointing the finger at each other. Now the post office in San Diego has said the address is wrong. It's crazy now. It's over 45 days and they come up with crazy reason about the box. I left the box at the post office, paid my money for the box to get there and it's missing.

I sold a TV on Amazon. I sent the package to the customer and when they received it, the box was damaged. They sent it back, not even wanting to open the entire box to check and see if the TV was damaged. When I got it back, the TV was shattered (it was sent in the original box, so it was obvious what the item was). USPS is so careless with their shipping. It disgusts me. I did insure it. I'm waiting to see what the result is. I have also had speakers stolen by the USPS delivery service. They sent me what was left of the box (about a foot long strip), and it had clearly been opened with a box cutter. How can you send me back a piece of the box, and not see where the speakers went?! I did not insure them, big mistake. I will never deal with them again. I would advise anyone else never to deal with them either.

I went to a USPS store to mail a box. I did not seal the box because I think the employee may want to take a look. After I selected standard shipping, the employee told me I need to pay an extra $4 for taping: free taping is only to priority mail. Since I do not want to waste $4, I went to a Dollar Tree nearby to buy the tape. Then, I returned to the USPS store to seal the box and used a piece of paper in the store to write the address. When I gave the box to the same employee, I was told I could not use their paper. If I insisted using this piece of paper, I would be charged additional $6. I guess USPS must be mad for money recently. USPS want to extract every penny (in my case every dollar) from the customer. Their service is so bad. It is better to close USPS as soon as possible. Without it, I still can use UPS and FedEx.

The lack of our mail delivery is so constant that I will no longer be able to have any of my mail delivered to my home like a normal person! Our mailman refuses to move out of his little truck to pick up or deliver mail in our mailbox. He said it is against post office regulation for him to get out of his truck. So needless to say, any stamps.com box I send to my children serving in Afghanistan, he'll refuse to pick up as well.

Poor service by the US Postal Service: I have lived in our neighborhood since 2004, and we have a community mail box. The last week of July, we noticed the doors to the individual boxes were broken and left open. A week went by, and still, there's no communication as to where we can receive our mail that was being delivered. Bills, invoices, and checks just are missing. So my husband and I started making calls and found our mail is on "hold" at the main Rancho Cucamonga post office. They are holding the mail there until the boxes are fixed. We suggested they leave some communication at the box, so that the neighborhood knows where to go; and we asked how long until this is fixed. We were told they have no idea.

It has now been over six weeks, and the box is still not fixed. Our mail has been handed out to neighbors incorrectly who have left this on our doorstep. There are no updates, and we have to go out of our way to drive to Arrow to pick up our mail. Not only does this disrupt our schedule, but the additional gas over the past 6 weeks has been very frustrating. Again, no one at the post office can tell us what is going on or provide an ETA. My husband asked what the hold up was and was advised they cannot find a company which makes the community boxes.

He went home and googled the mail boxes. 2 companies showed. When we asked for a supervisor to talk to, they referred us to Consumer Affairs. Wow. They can't even take accountability at the management level. My husband has called last week to leave a message at the Consumer Affairs number, and we have not received a call back from this agency either. We even asked due to the inconvenience, if we can just have a PO box to pick up our mail so that we can come anytime, not wait in line, and know our mail is secure. Our request was denied. Where do we go now? Please advise asap!

I shipped a package overseas. It provided absolutely no tracking information, even though I had a tracking number. I guess you have to pay extra now to get it tracked. Because I did not purchase insurance, which is a total scam, they are under no obligation to do anything about this. They refuse to help me, and now I am out a $300 item. They also told me they were doing an investigation and would call me. They never did. I called back to see the status and was told an investigation was never being done, rather a complaint was filed with Consumer Affairs and would receive a call back. Well, of course, I have not been called. How they can just have no responsibility for their pathetic actions is beyond me, and why are they allowed to get away with this?

I used the Post Office Express Mail Service to mail a check to a person that needed the money to pay their rent. I didn't want to pay the fees associated with Western Union, so I figured I'd pay the $18.95 to mail the check overnight. Big mistake! I mailed my package in North Las Vegas on Thursday at 12:13 pm. I was told that it would make it to Houston on the 31st before noon. I called customer service because the person had not received the check. I was told they would research it and get back to me. No one ever called. I called back and got a supervisor. The supervisor read off what I already knew from the tracking system and was no help. Per the tracking system, the packaged arrived in Houston on September 1 at 5:15 am. It is now noon in Houston and the package is still not delivered. I called customer service again, got another supervisor and was told it is still in research. I told the supervisor if someone can tell me where the package is, the person will come pick it up. Again, no help from the supervisor.

I used to feel sorry for postal workers, not anymore. I was still paying my bills by checks and receiving my bills in the mail to help with the postal service. I am now going to pay my bills online and have e-statements instead of having them delivered. I can see why the Post Office is losing business and may have to lay off employees. You have to wait in lines forever. Some stations you can’t buy a stamp through a machine and they usually have only one person working the counter. Next time, I will definitely use Federal Express or UPS for my overnight delivery. They will at least attempt to try to help locate your package. Bottom line, skip the Post Office for Express Mail delivery.

I am currently waiting for a paycheck to arrive in the mail. It was mailed from another state two weeks ago. The company that sent it has so far done nothing to investigate. USPS is terrible. I have had packages misdelivered and left sitting in the Post Office. This is the second time a paycheck was lost.

I tried to get mail forwarded overseas here in UK. It worked a few years ago. Now in July 2012, not even the highest jobholder in the office could tell me if international forwarding still works. She took my form and said he doesn't know but he'll try. Nothing was forwarded. The USPS online system gives no link to forwarding international. The Post Office is in a county seat of 40k people. How much training do you get when you cannot answer a simple question?

I was moving from city A to city B. I used USPS to send one of my trolley cases, in which I put all my favorite clothes and most of my skin care products - the biggest mistake I have ever made in my life! Then, it was the phone call marathon. I called the 800 #, the consumer affairs at both cities, and even the Atlanta Mail Recovery Center. I filled out Form 1000 and another. It has been 40 days already; no one makes any effort to find the package. The tracking information shows that the package is still in sort facility of city A, but USPS employee from city A claimed that the package has already left the sort facility without scanning. It's possible that the shipping label was off and the package was sent to Atlanta Mail Recovery Center. But the MRC told me that even if the shipping label was off, the tracking number should still be on the package; but no package of my tracking number was sent to the MRC. The 800 # claimed there was nothing else they could do for me right now, and they could speculate what happened to the package. If there is one thing clear, that is right now they all want me to file for insurance claim and get the money for the underinsured (yeah, they know) lost package.

If I was a three-year-old, I might have believed that the package was still on the way here, the fantasy story they had been telling me for the past 30+ days. Now, the package hasn't got to any place that it should have been. Hmm, I am wondering where they could be: maybe in the closet of a USPS employee, maybe on the face of the wife of a USPS employee, or maybe on the body of a USPS employee who is going out for a fun night. Oh, I forgot to leave a note on the case. Most of my clothes in that case and the case itself were rare pieces from other countries. If anyone wears or carries them around and unfortunately runs into me or my friend, they have got to be prepared to stay behind bars for some good years. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time, right?

The USPS website indicated that my package was delivered to my mailbox on 8/25/12 at 12:34 and it never was delivered. The mailman didn't show up until 2:42 that afternoon and I only had two pieces of mail. Nothing was left at my door and there was no note. I called the 1-800 number on 8/27 and I was told that someone would call me back the next day by 5:00 pm end of business. No one called me. I called back and I spoke with a supervisor. He was very rude and said that someone would call me and no one did. I called and the CSR said that they sent a letter out to me and I have yet to receive it. I called my local post office and spoke with three people and no response. I have not received this package and I think that it was stolen by the mailman. It was never delivered and they lied and said it was. I can't get any help.

I work too hard for my money and to have a package stolen from me like this is too much! I paid for my item that was stolen and now I can't find it. This is the second time that this has happened. I was to get a birthday card in the mail from my mother and they ripped it open and took the money and sent me the torn envelope in the mail from the post office saying, "Sorry for the mistake!" Times are too hard for this type of thing to happen to hardworking people. I have not heard anything back from anyone and it's like they just lie all the time. I have tried to call my local Consumer Affairs department at 404-765-7702 and no one ever picks up the phone! This is an outrage!

I paid $18.95 to overnight an item (a large check) that absolutely has to get there today. They attempted delivery at 5:30 am and there was no signer, so it is sitting in the post office and they said if no one claims it in 5 days, it will be sent back. They will not even let me reschedule it because they told me to contact Consumer Affairs and gave me the wrong #. The address it was overnighted to was Bank of America, Retail Payment services, Christiana Mall, 900 Samoset Dr., Newark. DE, 19713-6002. I am very upset because the bank gave us 3 days to come up with a large amount to get our house out of foreclosure and now we will not meet the deadline if it does not get received today, 8/30.

I sent off a box, which was not a small box, and it cost me $30.00. I asked the worker how long would it take and she said 2 weeks. It’s been 7 weeks. I do not have a tracking number and now they are telling me that I can just chalk that up to a loss. On 07/06/2012, I sent a large box from the Inglewood, CA office on Imperial and Crenshaw Blvd. at about 1:55 pm. I asked if there would be any problems and she said they've never lost a package, so I gave them my box and left with just a receipt. If I had known that was going to be the last time I was going to see my precious items, I would have put them on the plan with me. Now, I have postal workers telling me that there is not much I can do but to accept the lost.

How can that be? Those items were trusted in your care and I would like to get my items back. Here is a list of items in the box: 2 new handkerchief, tie and suspender sets, yarn, 7 linen napkins with shell holders, 7 new table place mats, and sewing notions from my 80-year-old aunt, who saved those things for me and now she is heart broken that I will never get to use them after saving them for me for so long. There are also irreplaceable items, t-shirts, and a dress shirt.
