On May 5th, 2014, I sent my mother a card with a $50 gift card inside. She lives in NYC and I live in Virginia. Three days tops to reach NYC. Today is May 13th, 2014 and she still hasn't received it. Last year, I shipped a package from NYC to Georgia, Priority Mail. It arrived exactly a week later. I work at night so whenever I have a delivery, I sit in my living room right by my front door and wait for the delivery carrier to arrive. 2 packages arriving via USPS were delivered to my house. However, the Postal employee left the packages on my front steps without knocking on my door. I realized the packages were missing when I checked the tracking number and noticed the packages were delivered.
After filing a claim, they told me the "Driver left the packages on your front steps." I couldn't get a courtesy knock? It takes two seconds. I'm done with USPS. I will now send everything, INCLUDING CARDS AND LETTERS, via FedEx or UPS where I can get a tracking number. USPS service is terrible.

I ordered an item from a private seller in UK on March 1st. Seller shipped via Royal Mail on March 7th, 2014 and it reached the United States on March 8th, 2014. Same day item goes into ISC. Gets released on March 13th, 2014 and SUPPOSEDLY left the Los Angeles sort facility on March 14th, 2014 at 2:00 am. I contacted USPS and asked them where the item was since it should have been delivered 3-5 days after it left Customs and they stated that it was still in Customs. I said ok. Maybe it could've been scanned put then pulled randomly by the US Customs. Mid April rolls up and I still have nothing; tracking number states the same thing "Departed Sort Facility". So on my last effort to hopefully find my item, I emailed and called USPS again. Lo and behold, sorry we cannot find your item.
I contacted my seller to start a claim with Royal Mail but from what they said it’s in the USPS's hand now since it did get to the United States, which I total agree with. Called to file an international claim and was told that the seller needs to file with Royal Mail. From the looks of it, looks like the USPS is just passing the blame. I mean come on; you lost the package. Man up and take responsibility for your mistake. So now my seller is trying to do everything he can from his part but it honestly looks like that nothing can be done since it hit US soil. So I'm out of the money I paid for the item and the actual item itself. Thanks USPS for messing things up!

On 5/5/2014, I went to the Chandler USPS office to mail a package to my son. the package contained clothes for my 2 young grandsons, a birthday gift for one of them and souvenirs for them from my husband's recent trip back from Egypt (Total value was about $90). I sent the package standard mail because I had a week for the package to get there and the value was less than $100 (cost for shipping was $14.96). The package arrived to my son's home while he was there and was handed to him with a sincere apology from the delivery man as the box was completely empty. The box had straight edge cuts on three edges with the 4 edge completely intact like a "jack in the box." It also had a sticker on it that said it arrived to them "damaged and without contents."
My husband and I immediately headed to the post-office in Chandler where I mailed the package from. The man there was very rude and said he thought the box had broke open and because I didn't buy the extra insurance there was nothing we could do except call a number to log the items and they would see if they show up at anytime. I have called the number and filed a report of lost items and also filed a complaint with the consumers affairs office. I feel robbed with no recourse or compensation available to me. I may not have paid for the added insurance, but believe that paying the postage and hand delivering to them and hand receiving by my son in TN should eliminate some possibilities of who is to blame for the mishandling or theft of my packaged items. I am crushed to know that my grandsons did not receive the items I picked out especially for them, that my grandson did not receive a gift from us on his 4th birthday, and that the items from Egypt can never be replaced. Most importantly though, I feel abandoned in my efforts to find some accountability or financial compensation from the USPS.

The post office I go to in Virginia beach, that is close to court house, the employees never work. They have a drop off box inside a building that is suppose to be a 24 hour drop. I have gone several times, even during the day, and the box was locked. It takes forever to get any package sent to me. There have been times when I checked on the USPS website, so I could check the status of a package and it shows delivered, but I do not have the package?

I shipped a Priority Mail parcel from Boston to Colorado that the postal clerk mislabeled with a California ZIP. The package was bounced back and forth between Denver and California for several weeks before finally returning it to Boston. At some point in between, the package had been ripped apart/crushed and then taped back up. Some of the contents were missing (stolen?); the rest were damaged. During this time, I tracked the package and saw that it was being misdirected. I filed 3 tracking reports online, but never received a response (except a customer satisfaction survey).
I called the sorting facilities in California and Denver (no one in Denver ever picked up the call). California sorting told me to call consumer affairs in Boston. I contacted them, but they were unable to intercept the parcel. I had insurance, but when I submitted a claim, it was denied; they said I didn't respond to their request for information within 30 days (I never received anything). I'm in the process of appealing and will stop at nothing to get this settled... NOTHING! I urge everyone to contact their US representative and share this information. The postal service loses billions every year and keeps raising rates. Service gets worse, but you can bet that the pensions and benefits of those working for the USPS are getting paid.

I called the Raytown Post Office and was informed we did not have any mail that day, and I told him this was a business and still have outgoing mail. He said the mail person was already gone. The next day our regular mailman said the entire block did not get mail and not just us.

For the past two years, I have had many days without any mail, forcing me to get a PO box for my more sensitive info like medical bills, etc. On average, every month, there are easily ten to fifteen mail days where I don't get anything at all in my regular mailbox, not even junk mail. Used to be fine, no issues. Then the mail carrier asked me out after we talked on friendly basis two years ago. I wasn't interested, and suddenly I stop getting my mail. Had mail once in last week, this is typical any more. And numerous complaints to USPS and their so called investigations has done NOTHING! Absolutely despicable.

Ordered $200 sunglasses from eBay 2 weeks ago. I tracked the package daily. Package did not arrive the day the USPS says it did. Was at the house all day all week in my guarded and highly gated community. It has been over 2 weeks. Have taken time off to resolve this since it is my 3rd lost package in 4 months. The United States Postal Service (USPS) are not accountable to anyone. I will be contacting my local representatives and spreading this message via blog using SEO, SMO, SEM, etc. I am very unhappy with the USPS!

I went to the USPS secure site to change my address and agreed to a $1.05 identity verification charge for changing my address. I authorized this and found a charge for $39.95. I called USPS and spoke with 3 different agents and, after sitting on hold for over an hour, was told that they would do nothing to assist me in getting this refund because they didn't charge it. I vehemently stated that the charge was for them on my credit card statement and it was charged when I requested the change of address.
One agent told me that I used an affiliate company and I asked how I was possibly linked to that site when I was on the secure USPS.com website and clearly saw $1.05 to be charged. This is an unfair and deceptive practice. I am now waiting on yet a fourth agent to speak to me about this. I am absolutely infuriated that a government agency can get away with not refunding a charge that was not authorized by the consumer.

I sell and buy things online and use USPS a lot. However, this company keeps delivering my packages to different addresses that make it so inconvenient for my customers as well as for myself. Within the last month, I did not get 2 packages that the tracking numbers stated that they were delivered. Also, in March, I sent one package to Littleton, Colorado. After 3 days, I tracked the tracking number and saw that it was in Littleton. Two days after that, it was in MA for some reasons. The package kept going back and forth between CO and MA. Right now, I have another package going back and forth between GA and CA for 2 weeks so far. USPS is a big company but the people working there are NOT smart at all. I hope one day some USPS authorities open their computers and see the complaints about their company (which are everywhere) and have solutions for missing mails issue that people have been suffering from USPS mistakes.

It is just a continuing problem with USPS that there is no one, and I mean NO ONE that you can speak to or answer your emails or whatever - this is as close to grand theft without consequence that I have found. I have had international boxes picked up and then never heard from again - they are not scanned into the system so there is no record of them and thus, I have no recourse. Some countries that you ship to internationally allow you to order insurance while others do not so you are basically handing your merchandise to a carrier who does God knows what with and then you are going to lose a customer, the cost of shipping, and merchandise cost which needs to be refunded to the buyer.
If you or I ran a scam like this - the feds would show up at our business and throw us in jail. Unbelievable. And, the customer service numbers - I can't wrap my brain around this - you call the number for international orders and there is NO ONE THERE - you stay on hold for hours and then they disconnect you. The "askusps" number, whatever that is, forget it. I have tried to get help via email asking for both an email reply or a callback - NOTHING. Someone in the private sector needs to buy this agency out - I cannot believe in this day and age that a government agency would be allowed to be so lackluster and have no online consumer tools - who doesn't have online chat these days - what is this 1980? I have a better chance of winning the lottery than I have of ever getting any satisfaction from this poor excuse of customer service.

USPS lost my asthma medicine shipped by Rx company; mis-sent my 1099 which I got a month later OPENED with a little postal service sticker on it; and they LOST a paycheck from the County I work for which had to have a stop-payment and reissue, taking two-and-a-half months. They took three weeks to ship a small jar of bath salts and called it "priority 2-day shipping". I filed a complaint with the postmaster at my local rural post office, and within a week the carrier came speeding up my driveway, got out stomping and ranting and raving, "How dare I complain about her" and shouting. So complaints are not confidential and the carriers appear to be on crack. Surreal.
USPS Express Mail Overnight Delivery (which cost a fortune) in Manhattan fake-scanned an "attempt delivery" to my son's dorm's 24-hour security desk on a box containing my son's retainer and debit card. I reported the "fake attempt" and the guy ADMITTED IT. I live in a rural area, and I have to go to the post office to pick up packages which UPS and FedEx and every other carrier in the world will leave at my gate with no problem. THEY DO SUCK. I just notified Amazon I won't purchase anything else being shipped via USPS.

A package that I tracked and knew that delivery was today, 4-29-14. For the last three deliveries, I have had to stand out in the snow waiting for the rural carrier because they refuse to leave their vehicle and set the package on the deck as instructed. Today, my husband was waiting outside in the rain for the rural carrier. She never attempted to make a delivery but instead had the "card" filled out indicating that an "attempt" was made when she DID NOT even bring out the packages for delivery. Her response was, "Your gate is always closed." We track our packages and the gate is not closed when we are expecting a delivery. Furthermore, we have been forced to wait outside for the rural carrier since they refuse to leave their vehicle.
I just called the Suring Post Office and register this complaint and told Sandy, the woman who answered the phone that I am going to expect the packages today. One of the packages contains medicine and the carrier refused to bring out our packages. We paid each vendor to have the packages sent and yet the Suring Post Office will refuse to deliver them. Please do not try to make up an excuse. I was an RCA at the GMF in Green Bay, WI and my supervisor, Tim, is now the Post Master. I am aware of the rules of a rural carrier. The woman at the Suring Post Office said that the rural carrier would bring the packages out this afternoon. Now either my husband or myself will have to go back outside in the rain and wait again. I intend to send this complaint much further, to our representatives and to every business we order from.

I'm writing to express my anger and frustration over the way the post office in Fort Jones, CA is handling my mother's mail. What recently happened is uncalled for and needs to be addressed. My mother has lived at her current address for well over 30 years and rents a PO Box at the Fort Jones post office. This is a small town where everyone knows everyone. For some time now she has been complaining to me about the service she receives from this post office. She says the woman in charge is openly rude to her but the real problem is the fact that my mom's mail is intentionally returned to senders with a note stating that my mother has moved. Also, she has received mail that appears to have been opened but is told by the woman in charge that it came that way. I normally take my mom's complaints in stride not really thinking that the USPS would behave this way, however, after my experience today I now know there is clearly a problem. Most of my mother's mail is addressed to her PO Box; however, there are times when mail is addressed to her actual physical address. When mail is addressed to her physical address, it is put in her PO Box and for the most part my mother has had no problems receiving. Yet whenever the manager is on duty things don't go so well.
Back in February 2014, I order a certified document from the State of Illinois. Upon following up, I was told that they had mailed out the certificate in early March to the physical address. They won't mail to a PO Box for security reasons, only to have the document returned to them with a note saying there was no such address. This is a time sensitive document which is needed to obtain a US passport. I now have to request that the document be sent to my home address so I'm sure to get it and then I'll need to re-mail it back to my mom's PO Box to be sure she gets it. Unfortunately, this puts us further behind in obtaining the passport. Needless to say, this is extremely frustrating and I would like to see an end to this kind of treatment of my mother, especially the interfering with the US mail, from the staff at this US Post Office. Thank you.

We run a small business 18 miles from the post office. We rely on the rural mail delivery because it is just so far from town. We are closed Tuesday and Wednesday but open all weekend. Our store is off on a dirt lane (well maintained) with a big flag at the end of the road which indicates that we are open or closed. Since opening we have had continued problems with getting deliveries from USPS. Our mail is left on the ground at the highway, or pink slips have been left. We have explained to the carrier many times that we are closed 2 days, what they are, and to please try to redeliver. Most recently we received a pink slip on 4/16/14, a Tuesday. Marked Business Closed. Marked parcel, but no sender info at all, no final notice date. No number of times tried to deliver. Got the slip on Thursday when we reopened. Expected delivery that day. Nothing.
Tuesday we go to the PO. (18 miles away) No one has any idea, can't find it. Regular carrier on leave but back on Thursday. Postmaster promises that they will follow up and CALL US on Thursday. NOTHING. Carrier comes in on FRIDAY to deliver another package. Says that the PO had known where our package was for 48 hours, it had been sent to WARSAW NC? And that we should call them. Well, we are running a business, we have customers, there is no time between 1 pm when she delivers this message and 3 pm when I get it, to sit down and ignore the customers to call the PO. Still don't have or know anything about the package. This is just the last of so many such incidents. We tell everyone that plans to ship us a package not to use PO. We have gone to pick up PACKAGES over and over. We open at 9 am and close at 6 pm. They will only retrieve packages from the back between 10 am and 4 pm. Burns me up that they charge so much, constantly whine about not having money, treat customers very poorly, and don't offer any service.

I put mail out to be picked up, the same piece over and over for 8 days. I've had issues with interrupted service but usually a call takes care of it. I had to physically walk up to the mail truck and hand my mail to him. He never said anything and never removed the earphones. I returned to my home and called my local PO. I was told, “Perhaps you're just one of those people that do not receive a lot of mail.” I rattled off specific companies that I receive mail from by particular dates. When I told him I've lived here for 6 years, he decided to listen and told me he'd "quiz" the mail carrier when he returned that day.
Yesterday, I was outside and saw the carrier; I waved to let him know I wanted to speak with him. I wanted to introduce myself to him and ask if he was aware that I live "here". As soon as I said, "I want to", he started speaking loudly over me, he would not listen. He informed me that my mail is being held, that he will not be delivering it and I need to move the box to the front of the home. He stated that he will NOT deliver my mail because ONE day he saw a dog in the yard. Not my dog, I do NOT have one. What he MAY have seen was the upstairs neighbor's puppy, very playful, not at all vicious...by the way THEY are receiving THEIR mail.
I called the PO again. I told the supervisor, “I guess, he never identified himself, that the dog is NOT my dog.” He told me to have my landlord call him. Why?? And Why was I not notified of their intention?? Honestly, he doesn't want to walk 10 feet to deliver MY mail to MY door. I pay my taxes, I'm paying HIS fat salary and he can refuse to deliver MY mail?? My PO will NOT hand mail over the counter... I'm ready to speak to a lawyer.

In the past year, since I got engaged, I have ordered a lot online from Amazon and Etsy. Both websites I absolutely love to work with. However, almost every item was lost, damaged or significantly delayed in deliver by the postal service. When I file a complaint, it takes at least 2 complaints per incident for the issue to be addressed and once it is, the office tells me there is nothing they are going to do to correct the issue. How can so many packages be lost and damaged? My father lives with me and after my second complaint one of his packages was left in the middle of our very long driveway. No one will help me and I am losing money by having to reorder so many items and I am losing time, which is making me very nervous as I get closer to the wedding and finish ordering my items and mail out my invitations or wait for my RSVP cards.
My most recent complaint, I explained all this to the woman who gave me a case number and she told me that in her 35 years she has never had a problem with USPS. That doesn't make me feel better or help me but instead made me feel like she didn't believe me. The head person at my local office straight out told me that all complaints come back to her and she won't do anything with them (so basically I am wasting more time by filing them). There is also an old mail slot in our garage door which we have heavily taped up with a permanent note that says "NOT a mail box please deliver mail to front door". On most days the mail man delivers our mail to the front door but about once a month the mail carrier removes all the tape and the sign and put our mail in the garage. We don't use our garage on a daily basis so we will go in there and there will be mail on the ground that is a month old. I have had to pay late fees on bills because of the mail carriers' incompetence and inability to follow directions. Also the fact that he or she has the gall to remove the tape and sign which I put there to help ensure he does his job properly is just astounding. That is my property and he tampers with it just so he doesn't have to take the 2 extra steps to our front door where the actual mail box is.
I have called the post office in my area multiple times to ask them to have the mail carrier only deliver mail to the box at the front door and to stop removing the tape on the mail slot on the garage. My family is very large and recently at a family get together the entire family is dropping the U.S.P.S. services and will no longer use them. Their services have absolutely gone in the toilet. They deceive customers with their screwed up services like priority mail by saying it will arrive in 1-2 days when in actuality it take 3-4 or longer. People are paying high prices for very little service and no one at U.S.P.S. takes responsibility for their serious mistakes.
Just as 1 example, I'm waiting on a package now that was mailed to me on April 9th by priority 1 day and today is the 11th and just checked tracking and my package was sent to Wisconsin 121 miles north of us this morning. Now that package won't get here for another 1-2 days. This package was mailed from a town 120 miles south of us in the same state of Illinois going to Illinois so why is it sitting in Wisconsin 120 miles north of us. They drove right thru my town to get to Wisconsin, crazy, and this happens all the time, daily. Needless to say their services are no longer required by my entire family of about 50 members. Like any business if you're treated bad you find another to take their place. So long U.S.P.S.

UPS and FEDEX are now handling our parcels over to USPS for the last leg of larger package deliveries. Three packages (originally shipped UPS) last month went missing (but USPS tracking confirms all were delivered between Feb 28 and Mar 5, 2014) and when the fourth one doesn't arrive (originally shipped FEDEX) off I go to USPS. 45 minutes or so after leaving, I get a phone call and miraculously all of my missing packages from the past 6 days will be in a parcel box with the key to that in my mailbox. FINE. My husband did ask, "where were they all this time?" I didn't think to ask and didn't really care. We've got them. This has never happened before. Here we are 4 weeks later and again, first a package from FEDEX was turned over to USPS with a delivery confirmation on April 2, 2014 and was not in my mailbox.
One week after that a box with 500 feet of speaker wire my husband ordered USPS reports as delivered on April 7. NOPE. Called the post office THE NEXT MORNING and explained the problem and said they would check into it. After calling twice more (remember only 45 minutes went by last month) and still nothing by 4:30, I e-mailed customer service of USPS of these two issues and 2 supervisors came to my home the next day. I explained the problem and they said they checked all the boxes and can't explain it but the postal carrier said it was put in box C. At this point, I break out all of the delivery slips from last month and told them those packages were found after being missing for a week.
He must have asked like 4 times "but where were they all that time?" Yes, stupid me, I never did ask. But I pulled out my cell phone and showed him the number that called me on March 6 at 11:00 am to report the packages were all together in the box. Another supervisor, funny, he doesn't remember now how he found them. At this point they are telling me they are still investigating but if the merchandise ordered is under $200.00 the company might just replace them. So our postal carriers can continue to misplace or just plain steal from us after UPS and FEDEX have turned our parcels over to them. UPS and FEDEX need to drop USPS because postal carriers are obviously too overworked and can't handle the extra load or they know they can steal from us and we have no recourse.
By the way...my husband and I have surveillance cameras so if UPS or FEDEX makes a delivery to our home we would know if it arrived and if it was stolen. With USPS, delivered means delivered and postal carriers when questioned will say the parcel box key went in the right mailbox. Twice in one month is absolutely ridiculous for this to happen to the same person. Waiting to see what their investigation turns up but, in any case, tomorrow morning I will be filling out a form at USPS to have all future packages held at the local post office and not doled out to our postal carrier. BUT... we still have to pay those shipping charges and even though USPS is being paid for their part in the delivery, we just can't trust them anymore.

I live in an apartment complex that has very small mailboxes. I check my mail on a daily basis and therefore there should be no reason why the following scenario happened. On Friday 4/4/14 I received a notice in my box along with about 3 pieces of other mail saying that my mailbox was overflowing. So I went to the designated post office that was on the notice to pick up my mail on that Monday 4/7/14. After waiting for 30 minutes at this post office for my mail, the supervisor came back to the window and said that she could not locate my mail and that she would check with the carrier when he returned from route. The supervisor was extremely rude in her response to me.
In any case she proceeded to take down my phone number along with a copy of the notice that was left in my box and said she would call me after speaking with carrier. I received no call the following day on 4/8/14 so I went back to the post office to see if they had located my mail. I spoke with this time a friendly counter representative and she went back and checked with the supervisor for me. They still had no information on where my mail was. This sales associate took down my number again and said she would call me in the morning or have the supervisor call me in the morning with answers to where my mail was. I again spent another 30 minutes of my time at the post office for the second day in a row.
I received a call on 4/9/14 from the same rude supervisor saying that my mail was returned to sender because this was the second notice I allegedly received. I proceeded to inform the supervisor that I NEVER received a first notice. She proceeded to argue with me saying that I had received it. I asked her when the first notice was allegedly delivered and she could not tell me a date, just that it was about a week ago. Keep in mind the notice that I received on 4/4/14 said nothing about it being the second attempt or that my mail would be sent back if I did not pick it up by a certain date. It simply said "Mail box Overflow". After expressing my concerns about not receiving my mail to the supervisor on the phone, she proceeded to tell me that my carrier told her that my mailbox is ALWAYS overflowing.
I then re-informed her that I check my mail on a daily basis and that it had been ALWAYS overflowing like she says it is. Don't you think I would be visiting this local office more frequently? I think so. She continued to argue with me very unprofessionally disputing the fact the she said my mailbox is over flowing, which it is not. She kept putting me on hold, checking with what seems to be a nonexistent person because she said I would receive a call from my carrier's supervisor which I did not. (I'm not holding my breath since they didn't call me the day prior as they were supposed to.) I then asked her what I should do about getting my mail, she said there is nothing she can do as it was sent back to sender (WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME KEEP IN MIND).
I received the notice on a Friday 4/4/14 and made my first attempt to pick up on Monday (4/7/14) and you mean to tell me that they send it back after 1 business day (Saturday) has passed? I find it hard to believe. I have lived in the same apartment complex for 3 years and have never had an issue receiving mail until about a month or so ago. About a week prior to this, I noticed that I had not received a package that I ordered 2-3 weeks prior and when I had checked the website that I ordered from it had said my order shipped just a couple of days after ordering. I never received a notice in my box (this package is too big to fit in the box in any case), so I went to the same local branch to check.
They initially had said that if there is no notice then there is no package. I proceeded to ask them to please check anyways and gave the supervisor my ID. By no surprise to me, my package was there, (it had been about 16 days since the site said my order shipped). SO once again, I received no notice in my box, but this time they held my mail for 16 DAYS! But they sent it back after 1 day in the more recent case? UNBELIEVABLE!!! I received no help or assistance thus far in this matter and it seems to be an ongoing issue. VERY UNIMPRESSED!

All our mail goes through United States Postal Service, and naturally, sending mails and packages through USPS sounds like a good idea. This is how we get our mail, and it doesn't work. At one time USPS might have been dependable, but it's no longer a reliable service. I sent out a package as a priority mail that was supposed to be delivered by two to three days, and now it's been over two weeks. In between that time, I thought the package was lost or stolen. I have made three cases, and initially they told me to use the online service to file.
Second time, they told me to call the branch, and when I did they forwarded me to call the customer service call center. Now confused, and frustrated with an upset recipient, I am beyond upset. Third time I called, I tried to speak with supervisors right away. The first one hung up on me because I wasn't going to let her talk over me. The second time, I was given a phone number to call consumer affairs for my zip code instead of another case number. All in the end, I still don't know where my package exactly is, and the package still needs to be delivered. They market as reliable, but from this experience, I am forced to look for other mailing services. What else is next?

I called the next day and spoke to a woman who contacted my mailman and asked had he delivered apogee to my address. His response was he had no pkg for me at all. I was told to call FedEx for their tracking number for the USPS trk number which starts with 9. I did, I called back and spoke with a guy. He said he'd call back when he spoke with driver because the pkg showed scanned and signed by him. The USPS is extremely disrespectful and does NOT care about customer service. I have called my location numerous times about packages claiming to be delivered and not arriving, and they never respond. They would tell you the exact same thing you find on the tracking information and you can never speak to a real human being. I am also disappointed about how they handle Media Mail and First Class Packages. I weighed and printed prepaid labels and dropped these packages off at the post office only to have them returned to me days later with a stamp I could barely read. When I weighed them again and returned to the post office and asked why these items were rejected after waiting on a VERY long line, the rude employee told me that they were weighed incorrect and were off by TWO OUNCES. USPS wasted my money over 2 ounces as when they scanned my prepaid labels, they were considered "used" therefore I lost money on the previous postage I paid for.
I asked him if I could just pay the difference for those two measly ounces and he said I had to print a new one. When I told him this was frustrating to bring back, he somehow finally agreed to add extra postage to my packages. He told me the First Class mail package I had did not qualify for first class anymore because it is now two ounces heavier. Again, I receive NO refund for the already "used" first class mail label, and he charged me $7.13 for a Priority Mail label for an item that was ONLY about a pound! When I left and thought something was fishy because I shipped out Priority Mail packages that were 1.5 lbs and never costed over $6. This employee added $100 insurance and charged me that extra $2 for and that I sold for literally $11. On top of that, why would he do this when Priority Mail gives a free $50 insurance?
Again, I said, USPS are out to rip you off, scam you and they do not care about you. I have lost a total of $20 from these two packages for items barely costing $11 each. I basically gave items to customers for free and have to pay out of my pocket to do so. Absolutely ridiculous and disappointing. If UPS or FEDEX was cheaper, USPS would be out of customers because they are liars.

As we were supposed to, we each put in Change of Address Forms - me for the house I was moving to, my dad for the house he was moving to. However, apparently it's okay for the Local Post Office to ignore the fact some people in the world have a different first name and they forwarded all my mail to my father, which would be fine if it weren't for the fact he lives 3 hours away. The problem was discovered when I was tracking a purchase and on the day it should have arrived, the updated tracking information said "Forwarded".
Each time I contacted the Post Master at the Montgomery, PA Post Office, it sounded as though it was an inconvenience to have to help a customer over the phone. She told me she could not tell me where the package was forwarded but that it was in fact forwarded to the address I would have put a forward in for. Except that I didn't put a Forwarding Address request in FROM my new address; my dad did. Instead of being thorough and making sure they were forwarding the right mail, they just looked at the last name and forwarded it all. For 2 days now I've been trying to get this woman to assist me. Today I called her and yet again that "I am above you" tone in her voice, claiming she gave me all the info I wanted the previous day, when in fact she didn't because had she done so, I wouldn't have called her ** back.
Consumer Affairs was extremely helpful. In fact, they knew what the local post office had done almost immediately (based on logical assumption). It turned out they were 100% correct. I didn't even get an apology from the local Post Master, just an email that FINALLY admitted they ** up and had finally corrected the situation. I am in the process of my 2nd "lost package" and anticipate a 3rd in the next few days. The 2 packages "lost" occurred at the Cincinnati center and the possible 3rd involves the same location also. Taking into account inclement weather, missed scans (excessive amount of those too) etc. approx 10 days for the 2 Day label for a recent package is unacceptable!!! The very least she should have done was acknowledge the customer like say something such as, "I cannot help you right now," or "I'm busy now, the cashier will help you," or "I'm on lunch break now, be back to work in 15 minutes." At least give some kind of polite acknowledgement, not just ignore and close the door on the customer who is safely over 10 feet away.

Where to begin? I mailed a package to Colorado and it somehow ended up in Illinois. The online tracking information says that my package left the distributing center in Illinois and there has been no updates with it in three weeks. I went back to the post office where I mailed it from a few days after it went astray and they told me that it probably just went into a wrong sorting bin and there was nothing they could do. Frustrated, I went home and filled out an online request for some sort of action to be done, to which I put that I wanted a reply. That reply never came.
So a few days after that, I went back to my post office and spoke with someone else. They gave me a phone number for the local consumer affairs department for me to call, which I did, six times. No one ever answered the phone and no one ever responded to my messages. I filed another request online, I called the phone number on the website and waited on hold for 20mins. When I finally got hold of someone, they took my information and said they would open a case for me and someone would be in contact with me in one business day. No response ever came.
I went back to my post office and spoke with the manager, who also was completely unable to help me. He said there was no way for him to contact the Illinois post office and even if he did, he was sure that, even though all packages are electronically labeled, there would be no way for them to know which truck that my package had went out on. Furthermore, he told me that no one in all of Austin would be able to help me and instructed me to return to the main 800 number on the website.
Totally dejected and not knowing any other recourse, I did return. After another 20 min hold, I explained my situation and gave the person my case number that was suppose to have been responded to two days ago. The woman gave me the phone number for the regional consumer affairs department. I called, someone answered! And then they transferred me to a voice mailbox where no one has returned my call.
I just cannot understand the complete and total systemic incompetency that the US post office runs under. There is no chain of command, no communication and absolutely no accountability! I have turned to here simply to vent my frustration and commiserate with what I now see as a wide community of people screwed over by the post office. I will forge ahead, another week and I can try to apply for the insurance that I had on the package. Of course, I will have to go through the website that I have made two complaints on and have gotten no response to, so I don't have much hope.

I got an email from my shipper, that said my shipment has shipped. I go to track the package. It said that they left a notice on 2/25 at 11:55 a.m.. But, I never gotten any notice from anyone. I was home at that time. So, it showed it in my local PO. I went down there to pick it up, they tell me it's not there. So then I call USPS, there tell me it's at my local PO. Again, they tell me it's not there.
As of Feb. 25, the shipment was accepted in WOODBINE, NJ 08270 I don't know how. On the 26th, it didn't show that it was in Woodbine, it still showed it was in Jersey City. It says, "Your shipment was accepted/picked up at 2:30 pm on February 25, 2014 in WOODBINE, NJ 08270." There's no reason it should be down there. They should know where it is. Every hub that it goes to, it's supposed to be scanned. When it gets unloaded, it should be scanned. When it get loaded, it should be scanned. When it get to the PO, it should be scanned. When it does out for delivery, it should be scanned. This way you know exactly where it is.
Every time I call customer service. They all tell me the same thing, it's at my local PO. I go down there, they tell me that they don't have it. And that it could be on the truck. If they look in their systems, and they see that it didn't get scanned to go on the truck. Then why are they telling me that it's on the truck?
On 3/2, I get an email saying: "Your Priority Mail Express Hold For Pickup shipment is being returned to you due to failure to pickup within 5 days by the recipient at GENERAL LAFAYETTE STATION 322 PACIFIC AVE JERSEY CITY NJ 07304. The shipment with Tracking Number: is being returned to the sender and will no longer be available for pickup by the addressee at GENERAL LAFAYETTE STATION 322 PACIFIC AVE JERSEY CITY NJ 07304." That office has been closed for a couple years.
I contacted the USPS like 10 times about this package. No one knows anything. They were all telling me something different. Then they said, that they're going to put a trace on it. And they will call me back. No one ever calls. I again called USPS customer service on 3/5. They said that they don't have any case number for the package. And I had to open another case. So I did.
And she gave me the number for the consumer affairs. I called them. The machine said that they were busy, and to leave my name and number and someone will call back. No one ever called. I go to USPS and track the package, again. It says, Unclaimed Your item was returned to the sender on March 6, 2014 at 10:22 am in JERSEY CITY, NJ 07304 because it was not claimed by the addressee.
I called the Bergen Ave. branch then, they said that they don't have it, and they didn't scan any package. I again call consumer affairs, they tell me the same thing that everyone else is. It's at the post office. But I call, it's not there. Now consumer affairs tell me that they will call the manager of the Bergen Ave. branch, and that he will call me back. I know no one will call back.
I want to know why are people telling me that they left a notice, when they didn't? Why isn't it at the Bergan Ave. branch? Why did I get an email on 3/2 saying, "Your Priority Mail Express Hold For Pickup shipment is being returned to you due to failure to pickup within 5 days by the recipient at GENERAL LAFAYETTE STATION 322 PACIFIC AVE JERSEY CITY NJ 07304. The shipment with Tracking Number: is being returned to the sender and will no longer be available for pickup by the addressee at GENERAL LAFAYETTE STATION 322 PACIFIC AVE JERSEY CITY NJ 07304."
That office has been closed for years. Why would they say my package is there? When it closed years ago? Why are you people lying to me, and giving me the run around? I send a complaint using the USPS site. They just send me back the same answers. Saying that they are sorry for the inconvenience.. I just want to know where my package is? And why are they lying to me?

I wrote a review February 11, about my issues with USPS. As of this date, I've received an email from the Postmaster where my PO Box is, that informed me basically he has no idea where my package is and is not even sure which address it was being sent to! I had already spoken to the sender and gotten a refund for the item, but the fact that it could just disappear from a local sorting facility is a bit distressing. When I track, the same information from Valentine's Day appears. I'm now worried about every package that I order online, online retailers oftentimes do not give customers an option to choose carriers and many times packages under a certain weight limit will get pawned off to the USPS for the last leg of the journey. It's a bit frightening!

I live in Hawaii and I understand that things take longer to get to the mainland US, but why does the post office tell me that a package will be delivered in 3 to 5 days to west coast and it almost never gets there in 7 days? I mailed a flat rate priority box 2 weeks ago to Oregon. It took seven days. Last week I mailed another flat rate box to California and 6 days later it still isn't there. In fact the tracking said it left Honolulu on a Monday and it finally was in San Francisco on Saturday. This is priority? What kind of airplane was it? I think they could have put it on a boat and it would have arrived sooner. Why oh why do I keep believing what they say? I think I have just given up on them - at least I can rely on FedEx or UPS to get my daughter's birthday gift to her before her birthday. It's over between us. They can take their long lines and misinformation (I still am unable to call it lies) and forget about me. I absolutely have to move on and go to an organization that is competent and professional. Ok. I would like to give the USPS overall a great rating..this is based on my 43 years of using the service. However, recently...and I mean RECENTLY.... from Dec 2013 to Feb 2014...I have had the following SIX EVENTS in two months!!! 3 pieces of mail LOST. (one from Ft. Lauderdale to NYC, one from NYC to NYC, NYC to Brooklyn) - ALL GONE AND 2 pieces of mail NOT DELIVERED (Both to same address in Brooklyn from NYC). Both were returned to NYC. I took photos of the "not delivered" sticker on both and mailed those photos to the recipient. The address was correct and he had to take it to the post office to clear up why they were not delivering his mail. I don't know what came out of it.
1 piece destroyed, one package of ceramic mugs. 3 cups crushed...even though it was packaged well. We feel that there must have been some kind of high impact event to do this. The recipient sent a photo. We were both very sad at the result. Is something going on recently at USPS? Are there people opening up envelopes looking for cash around the holidays? Maybe opening and finding a check..they know they cannot cash....thus they just trash the entire envelope and contents? Are they just throwing boxes around and dropping them? I think they need to install security cams around the post offices and in delivery trucks.

For most of the year now I have not been receiving most of my mail. I do receive utility bills. Most of my clients mail in their payments in the form of a check. For the past couple months I have not received ONE check via USPS. Of the ones that have resurfaced have been returned to sender. I always have the clients send me that original envelope so I can confirm that the address was printed correctly and to collect evidence. Every one of them that got to me was printed correctly and legibly. I have spent hours on the phone, on hold, talking to one person or another at USPS trying to get to the bottom of this. they directed me to visit the local post office, something that I already did. They confirmed that there was no obvious problem and that the problem was in Trenton (the main office that ALL NJ mail goes through). all of my mail is going to Trenton and then directly back to the sender from there. This information doesn't do anything for anyone other than frustrate me. They are still not able to locate the problem. Having my cash flow slowed to a trickle has made running a business very difficult to say the least. I will go back to the local Post Office on Monday to talk to some more useless people (getting bitter) and open a P.O. Box. They can't mess that up, can they?

PLEASE BEAR WITH ME AS I GO INTO A LONG EXPLANATION THAT HAS TAKEN A MONTH TO DEAL WITH.
This is not my first time experiencing shipping issues with USPS. I have a small home business where I ship on a daily basis. My online shop host supplies USPS shipping labels, where I paid $25.22 for Express shipping, because my package needed to be delivered overnight. I dropped the package off at the post office in their designated drop location. The next day instead of delivering the package to my customer in NJ, they returned the package back to me in FL, with no explanation on the package as to why.
So, I went up to the post office waited in line for 10+ minutes (because for some reason they only have 1 person working at a time) and the USPS employee advised me that I needed to pay more for postage. Confused, I didn't argue because I just wanted to get the package there. She said "well we'll just add on to the already printed label you have." I trusting the USPS employee, said "okay," what do I know. I paid $22.60 more totaling to $47.60. She kept the same tracking number, left my label on the box and scribbled something on the label. It was a Friday so I wanted to make sure that this package was to deliver the very next day. Saturday comes and of course the package does not deliver. I call customer service and they have no clue where my package is located. Thank my lucky stars that my customer is loyal and patient. She ended up receiving the package the following Monday, the day she needed the items.
I went back to the post office and again waited in line for 10+ min for the same postal worker to tell me that there was nothing she can do as far as returning my $47.60. I asked her why, she said because I need to receive my first refund from the online host where I originally printed the label. Well that doesn't make any sense because they are just a 3rd party providing the labels on behalf of the USPS. Again confused, I went home and immediately emailed the hosting site. They emailed me back immediately and advised me that they are just a 3rd party and any shipping issues would have to be dealt with USPS. So, I call USPS Customer Service (on hold for 45 min before anyone took my call, and to mention their auto service sucks, but this is another USPS issue for a later time) and spoke to an agent, advised her of the issue and she advised me that I am entitled to a full refund and that I needed to go back to the post office and get my refund.
I then go back to the post office a few days later which means another 10+ minute wait in line. I asked for a manager when it was my turn, the employee tell me to wait to the side where I waited another 10 minutes before a "Supervisor" came up didn't look up any information on the tracking and basically told me there was nothing she can do for me, because it wasn't their fault that the package did not deliver in time, because some post offices aren't open on Saturdays and the business I sent the package to was probably closed. UMMMM WHAT!!! I calmly explained first it was not a business it was a home the package went to, second I paid for "GUARANTEED DELIVERY" as it says on the receipt provided to me via USPS, she stumbled on her words and then told me "well you have to come back 3 days from now when her Manager is there, because she doesn't have any authority over refunds.
Now I'm not only confused but very very upset. I go back home and contact USPS Customer Service a 3rd time, which means another 30-40+ minute waiting time and then was told "well this seems to be a Consumer Affairs issue" and that I would need to contact USPS Consumer Affairs, because they as "Customer Service Agents" are only in charge of advising customers where their packages are located. Again confused because they are called "CUSTOMER SERVICE" and I have yet to receive any helpful service.
Today I called Consumer Affairs and was on hold for 35 minutes before their auto service hung up on me, I called back and waited another 30 minutes and still no one answered, I looked up another phone number for them online, called it waited 30 minutes before anyone picked up the lady tells me, "oh let me give you the "same" number I already called." I just hung up on her. Again, called the Consumer Affairs number waited this time 45 minutes and FINALLY someone answers, but tell me "oh, my manager is not here and he will be back at 3" (which was 3 hours from that time) and he will give me a call back. Now, again I am waiting. This is the most ridiculous situation I have ever dealt with. It has been a month of driving back and forth, calling, and waiting. For $47.60, which I am entitled to receiving back.

It's really no surprise that the USPS is facing what they deem as a budget crisis. The customer service and mail processing regarding certified mail is horrible. I've experienced situations in which the carrier won't even attempt to come to the door (with the purpose of attempting to deliver the item), but will instead just put the orange card ("unavailable" in the box). Even when you call customer service they don't give accurate information. Try calling consumer affairs and you will get this crazy recording about office hours (even if you are calling during their opened hours). If USPS wants to become a productive entity, then it should clean house and get some basic common sense practices in order when it comes to running a business.

2-27-14 Contacted Consumer Affairs dept Seattle, Wa. Woman who answered was clearly annoyed. I had bothered her from the moment the phone rang. I had called regarding a overdue/lost shipment that usps couldn't locate. My attitude was reasonable and professional, No vulgarity or raised voice. I inquired about options regarding the missing parcel in hopes it could located and finally delivered. The woman rudely replied that I would need to complain to the items seller. And that, it essentially wasn't usps's problem unless the shipper filed a complaint.
At this point, I began to ask if there anything I (the receiver who paid for item and shipping) could do to resolve the issue. Before I could complete my sentence the woman interrupted by saying "Goodbye Sir!" I asked her to stay on the line, She sighed and paused. I began to ask her name and again she stopped me mid-sentence with a "GOODBYE SIR!" The duration of the call lasted less than 2 minutes. Yet she was apparently so annoyed. She felt compelled to intentionally and blatantly terminate the call! This treatment was unprofessional and entirely unwarranted. I am a customer with a legitimate concern regarding my lost property.
This woman clearly hates her position and should Not be interacting with the public or customers. There are other complaints on this site that appear to be about the same woman at the Seattle Wa Consumer Affairs Office. Its sad that such unprofessional and rude people are being paid to represent to the public. I attempted to ask the woman's name, But she had hung up on me before I was able to ask. I would like to be clear this was not a "lost" call. This woman knowingly and intentionally hung-up on me after less than 2 minutes.
Overall, I have called USPS 4 different days trying to find or resolve my lost package and spent a combined 5 hours on hold waiting to speak to someone. Despite my package being physically scanned into the system at several usps locations, I was ultimately told that usps had never received the shipment. This is obviously false since the shipping label on the package has to be physically scanned in at each location it passes through.
The package in question passed through and was scanned at multiple usps locations until ultimately arriving in the local distribution warehouse approx 50 mile from my location at which point it mysteriously disappeared from a pallet. The package has now vanished and usps has informed me that I can do nothing other than complain to the seller who did exactly what they were supposed by shipping the package.
The end result is I waited 3 weeks for a package that never arrived. Do not have the item I ordered. And the money I paid for the item is essentially in "limbo". USPS has wasted 6+ hours of my time to pretty much tell me to take a hike (give up). In addition, this is the 5th consecutive package USPS has failed to deliver. The previous 4 packages had to be picked up in person as USPS couldn't be bothered to deliver them as i payed them to.
I am now so disgusted and disappointed with USPS. I am realizing it will be necessary to pay more to have private carriers deliver my packages, More expensive but atleast my packages will ACTUALLY ARRIVE! I will also be filing an official complaint with USPS but realize that it will likely never be answered or addressed. So hopefully, this will serve as a cautionary tale and just maybe aid in getting this rude woman removed from her position.
Should someone from USPS see this post and bother to look into it, the call was placed to 1-253-214-1800 Seattle Wa Consumer Affairs at approx 3:15pm on 2-27-2014. The woman refused to give her name, but I am sure USPS has a call/shift log that could reveal this woman's identity. Ultimately, the lesson I've learned after repeated failures on the part of USPS is to pay the higher price to ship items through a carrier who actually bothers to do the job they were paid to do!

The US post office does okay with regular mail but when it comes to packages, it' a whole different matter. I really do not recall in my 64 yrs not receiving something as regular daily mail. I think most of us in business that requires parcel shipping are all aware of the risks with the US parcel service. So why the big difference? Well in my opinion why should theft in this area be any different than the rest of the world? Yes some parcels do get lost but at the rate this happens this would not explain the difference so it comes down to INVENTORY SHRINKAGE a.k.a. THEFT. GEE IMAGINE THAT.

On January 22, 2014, almost a month ago, I encountered one of the most surly and unhelpful postal employees, it has been my misfortune to deal with. I was at the Engleside Branch PO at 8588 Richmond, Hwy, Alexandria, VA. I had several books to mail, as I run a small book-selling business out of my home. I had a combination of regular postage (the $2 inverted jenny stamp) and postage vended by one of your Automated Postal Centers. The APC postage had been purchased several weeks earlier. When I presented my packages to USPS counter clerk ** she informed me that because the APC postage was more than two days old, it was no good. I tried to explain to her that this was not a meter, and that APC postage never expired, just like regular stamps. She asked a co-worker if that was true.
The co-worker asked if it had the word forever on ital., irrelevant question. ** replied that it did not. Then, said the co-worker, it is no good. Once again I tried to explain that this was wrong and that the APC postage was valid. ** informed me that if I put the packages in the box they would be returned to me. A supervisor then told another clerk to process the packages for me, and so far as I know, they were delivered. That same day January 22, I submitted a complaint at USPS.com explaining what had happened. I have yet to hear from anyone from the USPS with regard to my complaint.
On February 4, 2014, I sent a letter to the Postmaster General, Mr. **, relating my experience and asking for a response. I also asked for something in writing stating that APC postage does not expire. I have yet to hear from him. On January 16, 2014, I sent another email inquiry to faq.usps.com. That may not be the complete URL, as it is printed off the page. Needless to say, I have not received an answer to my inquiry, which was whether APC postage ever expires. I am hoping that you can cut through this BS and get me some answers and tell ** and other less-than-informed clerks what APC postage is. Thanks.

I just wanted to add my experience with the USPS because I have been reading the many, stories of similar experiences. What a sad state of affairs.

My senior citizen father, living on a limited income, paid extra to ensure delivery of a package to his granddaughter. He was told it would be delivered on Saturday. We waited and watched as the mail lady delivered our mail and then watched her drive away. When I checked my mail, to my surprise I found a "Sorry We Missed You" slip. I'm a stay-at-home mom and I can assure you NO attempt was made to deliver my package. We have no dogs or any gates or obstructions to my door and the box is smaller than shoe box. The only answer I can give myself is that she didn't bother to try because it was pouring rain that entire day. NOT A GOOD ENOUGH REASON! This isn't the first time this has happened to me and a few other people in town. Customer service at USPS doesn't pick up. Now I have to go pick up my own package. So why exactly are we trying so hard to save USPS???

This must be the worst postal company I have ever seen my life. I purchased a watch from Atlanta on 13 Jan 2014 paid $65.00 for priority international post. We are now at the 18th Feb 2014. The parcel was last scanned on the 27 Jan. From there it cannot be found. From Atlanta to NY last place that it was scanned took 15 days to reach there but from there nothing. No one will help on the phone when call them. I will get customer services and the agent is either having a chat with their colleagues or tell you "please wait I need to take a drink" then burps down the phone, absolutely disgusting... This is the worst company I have ever had to deal with in my life. I would recommend that no one in their right mind should never use USPS. We are now at 18-02-2014 and no clue where my parcel is

The USPS is now charging eBay and Click and Ship customers $1.30 to drop off packages at the US Post Office and get a receipt. The US Postmaster at Rodeo, CA cannot provide any documentation as to why they now charge for a receipt. I am NOT referring to a Certificate of Mailing. I pay for USPS Tracking when I buy my Postage Label on PayPal. That should mean that I am entitled to receive tracking from my possession to the USPS Acceptance. I think this is an unauthorized fee and I want to file a claim against the USPS and/or receive an official response from the US Postmaster General explaining the new fee and providing me with the correct DMM Code for the fee.

My normal mailman is great; that is, when he works. He has medical issues and missed 2-3 days a week. The USPO gives his route to other employees, and they're supposed to deliver our mail after they do their own route. The problem is, whoever it is is NOT doing that. For a few days now, no mail. It doesn't seem to be the snowstorm; their website says nothing about New Jersey mail delivery being affected. This is a service we pay for, and a service we have no choice but to use. Not getting mail for days on end is inexcusable!

I'm so pissed! I received an email from UPS stating that my package was delivered at 10:30 this morning. When I get home there is nothing on my porch, so I called UPS. They tell me my package was delivered by the post office. So I call the post office and the lady says, "Girl, you like the 10th person whose package has been stolen today," and she had the nerve to laugh. Then the lady hung up. Update: After calling them for three hours, I was finally able to speak with somebody and she told me, "Well I don't know why the box was scanned two time but its showing it was delivered at 10:20 and 10:30." So I asked her why didn't they leave a notice on my door, stating that it was attempted to be delivered and she said. "Well we don't do that, that's UPS. We put a notice in the mailbox." So when I asked her why didn't they put the notice in the mailbox, she said, "Oh you have to call the other post office in the morning. I can't answer that for you."

I realize that all of the mail now has to travel to Denver to be processed. The mail we are waiting on was mailed 20 miles from us... so far it has been 4 days and has yet to be received. It was great when the mail was processed in Colorado Springs and we could depend on overnight local delivery. This is getting very frustrating.

Mail theft is a federal crime and is defined as anyone taking any piece of mail, be it a letter or a package, for any purpose. This includes stealing from postage workers, from private mail boxes, from collection boxes and even from mail trucks. Mail theft alone carries a penalty of either five years imprisonment, a fine or both. Other crimes may also be added to this charge, such as assault or breaking and entering, depending on the method of theft.
I have read other posting from other sellers and their merchandise are disappearing in Chicago. Crime is happening in this Post offices. The Federal Government (FBI) should launch a undercover investigation to bring those responsible of stealing. I will be contacting federal agencies and Postal inspectors to get to the bottom and bring Justice. Please share my feelings with other similar people. A new Law should be made to make The USPS liable for lost items. The USPS is not doing much to protect our shipments. You can always check my unique tracking numbers above on USPS and see I am not a liar.

My problem started about a year ago when I moved to an area that didn't get door to door service and had community boxes. A few months ago the lock to my community box broke and I was advised to call the PO where my mail comes from (which is 15 mi away from me, in a different city which I don't like in but unfortunately been cursed w/ the same zip code). I called and spoke with a Sup who informed me that they would have someone come out to repair the box and it could take a while so in the meantime they were going to hold my mail. That wasn't an option for me for a number of reasons, so I told the Sup I would just deal with the broken lock for a while.
One day I checked the box and it was open and there were sensitive pieces of mail inside that could've easily been stolen. I made the decision to get a PO Box and went to the PO five minutes from my house and bought PO Box and completed a COA. During that time some packages were being sent to me and I thought they would be delivered by FedEx, but were being shipped FedEx Smartpost; so the last leg of the race would be USPS' job. I knew when they were coming and the day they were supposed to arrive. They were no way to be found. I tracked and that's when I realized they were coming SmartPost. I also discovered that USPS was claiming the packages were undeliverable and being sent back to the sender. I tried to contact USPS to see if I could just google the PO where they were and p/u the packages.
By the time I received a (on the 2nd day) reply back I was under the impression and this was confirmed when speaking to a USPS rep that the packages were indeed getting sent back to the sender. I was also told the packages could've been just dropped at my house but the mailman had no idea who I was. She/He has no idea who anyone is because we had COMMUNITY BOXES! I tracked the packages that evening to see how far along they were to getting back to the sender so I could plan to reorder them and to my surprise I saw that they had been forwarded to my PO Box and one even had an ESD which was Sat 02/08/14.
I go to the PO to p/u my mail that day and indeed there was a package there for me, but not these two. I spoke w/ some that worked in the PO who was nice and informed me that there was only 1 there for me, but she would definitely be looking out for the other two and not sure why it didn't arrive when it said it would. Since that was a Sat, I thought I would try again Monday and see if my packages were there. They were not and the worker again had no explanation for where they could be.
I called USPS and after being on hold for more than 30 minutes and going through that insane automated system, spoke w/ a rep who was kind and helpful, what I gathered is that for large packages it can take up to a week to get rerouted because it has to go back down to the main facility to get resorted to the correct PO for delivery. He believes that I should have them by the end of this week when I should have had them before the end of the previous week. I loved my previous mail carrier (back when I got door service) and hopefully my packages arrive and I don't have to waste time calling USPS and writing scathing reviews about them.

My parents have a house out in the country they have left sitting empty for about 3 years after purchasing a new house in town (Ames). I recently moved in to the empty house to help upkeep the place and keep it from deteriorating. For about the first year, there were no major problems except that we would get other people's mail from time to time. My parents have owned this house for 20 years and the only mail that gets delivered there is all addressed to our last name. So when I get mail that is supposed to go to someone named Emily **, I am confused to say the least, but it's not a big deal to me, so I let it slide for about a year.
Then, out of the blue, I got a letter from the post office saying the mailbox needed to be moved because it was no longer in a safe location, and that they needed to protect the safety of their drivers. I didn't take it very seriously and set the letter aside. I contacted my dad who informed me that the post office told him to put the mail box where still is 20 years ago. Why would they all of a sudden consider it unsafe? The only thing that had changed since we moved in is there are now a couple of cars in the driveway, completely out of the way and not hindering any mail carrier from driving to the mail box. After a couple months went by, I got another notice saying service would be suspended until the mailbox was moved.
I called the postmaster to see what the deal was. Jaylene **, the incredibly rude postmaster I had the displeasure of dealing with, was absolutely zero help. She repeated the same wordage in the notices over and over and couldn't really give me a reason as to why it was all of a sudden unsafe. The only legitimate point she made was that my driveway is slippery in the winter sometimes. Ok.... How is that different from all roads in the winter? Maybe USPS should just stop delivering mail Nov-March. Doesn't their slogan say something about rain, snow, or gloomy nights? I told her I would oblige to her request to move the mail box (although I completely disagree with the logic behind it) in the spring when the ground thawed out enough to dig a new hole for a new mailbox post. Apparently there is no reasoning with this power tripping witch, as that was not good enough for her and my mail was still suspended.
I contacted Consumer Affairs by phone after this all happened. They told me they would check into it. Never heard back. I ended up having my mail forwarded to my parents house in town. The problem with this is that it takes an extra week to get there, and since I got this service, I have had many items just plain missing. You also do not receive local mailers or coupons and such when you use mail forwarding, some of which I actually like to get. I also recently started a business and am using my home address to get the mail for it. I was in the process of getting my business listed on Google so that more people could find me online. Google was sending me a postcard with time sensitive information on it to make this happen. It's been about a month and 12 days now and it's still not here.
I think it's safe to add it to the list of things that 'are lost'. At this point I'm convinced that my post office has it out for me. I don't know what I did to piss them off so much besides start living there. I'm convinced the driver is just too lazy to drive the extra 20 feet to the mail box and had his postmaster do his bidding for him, citing safety as the excuse. At this point I am beyond pissed and would gladly pay good money to sue/see people fired. After reading the incredibly large amounts of complaints others have posted just on this website alone, there is no doubt in my mind that USPS is a complete failure of an organization. I think my dog could do a better job than any of their employees.

I live in northwest Indiana and this winter has been a particulary hard one with extreme cold and snow (as it is almost every year). Cold and snow is nothing new for our mail carrier, or any mail carrier from around here. We haven't received mail since January 29, 2013. Today is February 9, 2014. My husband and I both have called our local USPS to find out why we aren't getting our mail. The woman we spoke with apologized said our mail wasn't being delivered b/c we need to remove the snow in front of our mailbox. There is no snow in front of our mailbox. However, about 6 ft away from our mailbox is an 18x20ft snow mound that our city snowplows keep adding snow to. Since this pile is there in order to get to our mailbox, our carrier would either have to open his door and take one step out to reach the box, or he'd have to pass it and then drive in reverse (USPS drivers are not allowed to drive in reverse for "safety reasons").
The alternatives that were offered to us were to remove the snow or buy a new mailbox to place in front of our other one or stand outside and wait. I asked if we could just pick up our mail at the post office and her response was "Absolutely not, you can either use one of the options I gave you or continue to not receive mail." After this comment I asked to speak with a supervisor, who said they told our mail carrier to deliver to us on February 8, 2014 no matter what. We still have not received mail. I get that mail carriers can "refuse" to deliver for basically any reason if it is a "safety hazard" but for the post office to refuse in store pick up is absolutely ridiculous.
The USPS is withholding our mail illegally and without warrant. I tried to call and complain to corporate and I tried to email an complaint. The email service is down, and they are not open on Sundays (which I figured they wouldn't be). I am extremely disappointed with USPS at this point. Can someone please tell me if this has happened to them as well? Unwarranted and illegal mail withholding?

Last week, I've placed an order online. The package came in today, but the content of the box is empty. Someone has opened the box and took all my orders, left only the invoice and bubble wraps. It is very obvious someone cut open the tape and re-tapes it with another piece of tape on top of it. First thing I did was calling the online shop and told them what happened. They replaced my orders right at way even it is not their fault whatsoever. Then, I went to my local post office to file a complaint. The supervisor I talked to was nice, but it doesn't seem she's going to do anything about it. She kept suggesting other possibilities about the missing package contents, not once she said that she will looking into it that maybe someone at postal office end has something to do with it.
Until I told her I am here to telling her about this are not because I want any kind of reimbursement from the postal office. I just want they aware and doing something about the stealing. Then, she told me all she can do is to talk to the people work there about this. I have to call 800-275-8777 number to file a complaint. File a complaint? What am I doing now talking to you? Anyway, I called the 800 numbers after I left the post office. For about over 30 minutes of waiting, no one ever pick up the phone. In frustration I search information online which lead me to this website.
I can't believer there are so many complaints against the postal services. One of the big frustration of people which I share is where can you take your complaint about the bad postal service, and is there anyone ever going to do something about it? Maybe there is a reason why the US Postal Service is on the verge of bankruptcy. If any corporation has this amount of unhappy customer complaints, they will if not already done something about it. Also, couple of months ago, I had another online order (that online shop used USPS) that I never received. I thought at time that maybe the package got misdelivered. Now, I am not too sure about it. I think stealing is pretty serious matter in shipping business that should be look into.

For more than 7 years I have asked the Bedford, Ohio Post Office to tell the carriers to stop going thru my shrubs. I had told the carriers, but they ignored me. They trample on my shrubs, solar lights, Christmas lights and flowers. They show no respect for other people's property. This year, again I called and complained to Mr. **. He would tell the carriers. Either he didn't tell them or they ignored him. I called about 10 times in 2 weeks and those people still ignored this. I finally told them that the carriers are not to cross my lawn anymore. That they will have to go down the neighbors drive, out to the street and then up my drive. The one carrier who probably only went to the 3rd grade said, “I ain't goin' down the drive and walking in no street.” Really sounds intelligent. Like she never walked in the street. Who is she to tell me that she will cross my lawn?
I called Consumer Affairs, but they were no help. They said I could put up a fence. Why? Why can't she understand my wishes about my property? I had even said that they could cross the lawn further down, but that is ignored also. So, when I file my taxes, I will claim damages to my property that the carriers have caused, especially since the post office said they do not pay for things like this. You have about an attorney to contact me. That is funny. Why can't these carriers do like they are suppose to?

I sent a package out on the 14th to an address I could have driven it to in 3 hours, the item showed up 9 days later. Upset that the item was so late, I called the 800 number on the receipt which was a whole other experience for me, I am used to automated systems that you can interrupt to expedite your way through, Not this one. If there is any sound on the caller's end it resets the automation point of reference. But that was nothing compared to the cycle I would experience from that point. I have spoken with 9 different people from the intake center, delivery center, call center, and Consumer Affairs and there are more problems than solutions.
When I dropped the package off, I was given an estimate that the package would be delivered within a couple of days because it was so local, when I informed the clerk I needed it there no later than the 20th. She told me I had options I could take that was more expensive, the contradictions didn't take long to start. That evening when I got home, I checked tracking on it. And it had an estimated delivery date of the 17th, which wasn't that bad, even though it was two days later than quoted. When the 18th came and there was no delivery, there was a problem for me. I called the delivery station and after voicing my concern was advised to refuse delivery so it would be returned to me. Which we did when the delivery attempt was made on the 21st.
On the 23rd there was no movement in tracking so I called back and was told it would be processed through that day. On the 24th and 25th, there was still no movement. I called customer affairs and the treatment I received was not stellar. And all I could think, with all the business I do with USPS, 100s of packages a year to get this kind of service I thought was isolated. I received a call back on the 27th from a guy whose name escapes me. He told me in certain terms that there was nothing that could be done, and I refused to believe that. On the 28th, I called the local Post Office who know me pretty well, and was given direct numbers that I should call. On the 28th I called consumer affairs, hoping to find someone, anyone that could resolve my concerns.
Here I am, loyal USPS customer, been using the service above the competition for years, even when I knew the prices were comparable and even better for some of the deliveries I needed. I paid you $66.00 to deliver a package 130 miles away, because of your clerk's calculations, the tracking system confirming her calculations, granted giving two extra days. When it doesn't show up, from the bottom floor to the top of the chain, everyone blames me for not knowing that the package option I used was not guaranteed, One clerk even told me because it was a low priority, it may have sit in the station for days while others with a higher priority would edge it out no matter how many days it was there.
The bad part about it all, it sat in the receiving station from the 21st when it was refused, until the 29th when I called back to voice my concern, it was attempted delivery again, but never reached the delivery location to be refused, which was communicated to me by the other end. No one showed up to the door to deliver the item for it to be refused. Today is the 31st, and there is no movement in tracking for it. And I need it in GA by the 10th of Feb. I have recorded every conversation from the 21st. I don't understand this, No one has tried to resolve this for me. It's my fault, I can't get a refund, I can't get the item forwarded to GA, and I have no idea when it will be returned, and no one knows where it is. What can I do?

I bought a dress online for my wedding. It's my daughter's flower girl dress. I paid a decent amount of money for this dress to be custom and handmade. The designer said that it would take anywhere from 4-6 weeks to get the dress made and delivered. This was mid-November 2013. The beginning of January I checked the package tracking to see what the status of my delivery was. I didn't feel the need to check any earlier based on what the designer told me and the fact that it was right before Christmas. According to the package tracking, my package had arrived and been received on November 27 2013. When I called the post office, they said that they couldn't tell me what carrier had delivered my package because it was past 30 days of delivery date and they don't keep any paper records. The freaking u.s. postal service can't tell me who delivered my package! Seriously!
I was then told that someone would have to have been at the place of residence for the package status changed to delivered and received. I told the postal supervisor that no one at my residence had signed for any package and that I want to know who did. They again said that they didn't keep records back that far. I was told that I would have to get in contact with the dress designer and see if she could file a claim for me since she was the one who bought the insurance on the dress. They wouldn't let me do it. A report has been filed by the designer but now I'm being told that i might have to file a theft report but it's my responsibility to prove that it was stolen.
I ask this question... how can I do that if I'm being told that they keep no records past 30 days, they can't tell me who signed for it? So pretty much it's my word against the United States Postal Service. What a joke of an establishment! I will never opt to have any package sent through the postal service again! No one is willing to help me! I'm out money and a dress! I will pay any extra amount to have it sent through FedEx! It's amazing to me that the post office can even operate and are still around. The lack of customer service and the lack of satisfaction makes me sick.
And to top everything off, I was told that I should get in contact with the mail recovery center to see if my unclaimed package might possibly be there. And that I would need to do it asap because they auction items that are unclaimed. Wow! Is all I can say! Funny that I would need to do all of this. Funny that it's my obligation to track down a package that I never received. Never again will I deal with this.

Initial complaint: Sets of vandalized cluster mailboxes were removed from our subdivision in Dec. 2013 & have not been replaced. No information to residents as to when they will be replaced, or getting keys. Required to go to P.O. to pick up mail. Most people work, so can only go on Sat. but "window" that handles this closes at 12:00 and only has one VERY SLOW person working..... usually over an hour wait in line to get mail here. Today (01/27/14), I went to P.O. at 7:30am (posted hours) but "window" on the blue door was closed and there was no response to "ring the bell for service". Went into main area, but clerks behind that desk would not help me. Said I had to go out to the "blue door" (closed). Said "ring the bell" (did that). I asked if supervisor was available? Told me "go ask at the blue door". Would not even tell me if there was a supervisor there.
Waited in line at "blue door window". Heard the clerks walk around and tell someone to open the door. They did. After I got my mail, I asked if there was a supervisor there? Person walked away (I assumed to go get a supervisor), then came back with a form & told me to fill it out. "What for?" I asked. "You asked for a supervisor". I just want to know if there IS a supervisor. "Fill out the form". "I have to fill out a form just to get an answer to if you have a supervisor?" "Fill out the form". BROTHER. I fill out the form. It asked what was main purpose of my request, I said, "Window not open at posted times, workers refuse to answer questions, extremely unfriendly treatment." Worker takes form & says, "Someone will be with you shortly," leaves me standing at the window 45 MORE MINUTES while he waited on customers behind me.
Finally "Byron" comes out and asks what is my problem? I ask if he is the supervisor? He says yes. I say, "NOW my first problem is that you let a customer stand here for 45 minutes without coming out here". He says, "Do you have a postal problem?" (Doesn't apologize, doesn't offer to help, stands with his hands on his hips.) BYRON is very curt, rude, snippy. Does not offer any information or apologies. I ask how much longer before our subdivision will get our cluster mail boxes back? He says, "We reported it. That's all we can do. It is out of our hands". I ask whose hands they are in now? He says "Field" (like that should mean something to me...) I think it is the name of a company. I ask how we can contact "Field". He gets a salmon-colored form 3849 and points to an 800 phone # on there. Says, "You can call them here." (It is the post office phone #). I just look at him. Still standing there with his hands on his hips.
He says again, "Do you have a postal matter to discuss?" I asked him why he was being so rude? Says again, "Do you have a postal matter to discuss?" I walk away. Go out to my car & call the stupid 800-275-8777 number. ON HOLD over 20 minutes & finally get someone in INDIA. They took a report & gave me a confirmation #. Said someone will call me back...Yea, right.

When I got my tracking number, I realized the receiving address was wrong. I called customer service and waited for 20 minutes to reach a human. She sent an e-mail to the postal service that is going to receive my package to change the address. She said that is all she can do. Two days later, I called customer service again. I had to press 0 constantly because if I didn't it would keep derailing me to a computer. After 30 minutes of waiting, I finally reached a human but she wasn't helpful at all. She told me the last customer service representative did my case wrong. When I asked her what I can do she got upset and said, "Well why did you put the wrong address?" She continued with a lot more of "Why didn't you do this? Why didn't do that", should have, could have, would have, etc., etc.
I explained to her my situation and told her that hindsight wasn't going to help, but when I try to explain she would cut me off and kept derailing how wrong I was to make the mistake in the first place which okay... but I needed to know what I can do NOW. Why is that so much to ask? I needed that package asap. I tried to explain her again that I needed to know what actions I can take in present moment but in mid-sentence she hung up on me. What sucks is that the USPS makes it impossible to make a complaint. They have no special section in their customer service to make complaints but they have a "compliments" section ugh. I tried looking everywhere on the internet. The only way to notify USPS of complaints are complaints of senders not USPS themselves. I just can't with this business.

The purpose of this letter is rude service . You will read different conversation for three different people that I spoke to on Jan 15, 2014. My mail was on Hold 7-14 at KPO (Kilgore Post Office). I call my carrier and explain I was waiting important mail. The carrier (**) I spoke with said it was there, so I sent my daughter to pick it up at K.P.O get the paper for me, and for some reason they didn't give her all the mail. The carrier said she gave the mail to the supervisor. So I begin call to see where my mail was several times.
Finally someone gave me a different number 903-981-2313. The supervisor answer the phone **. I said where is my mail , and why didn't you give it to my daughter. She said I rubber band it and left it on ledge and don't know where it was. She said hold on. Then a gentleman got on the phone and said rudely "I Don't know what post office you work, or where your mail is, but don't call here anymore," and slam the phone down. The next day the carrier sent word to me, to meet her on her route, and she'll give me my important mail and that the supervisor had the mail, and don't tell anyone. I meet her the next day and was given my mail the 16.
To solve the problem, I would like to know why my mail wasn't given to my daughter. I appreciate the carrier for giving me my mail. I personally feel the postmaster has no place interacting with the public when he lacks the basic sense of propriety and kindness. Whatever action you decided to take my daughter and I are certainly willing to act as witnesses. I hope to hear back from you about this incident.

Couldn't believe it but they still only offer two services and I had to pay $8 again to mail a package to her. I gather USPS has decided offering reasonable priced first class service through their kiosk will no longer be available. If anyone can help clarify/verify this increase, I'd love the input. Being a long time eBayer and although not really a seller anymore, I'd bet there are some stressed out sellers on there! There's a UPS store nearby.

Ever since we got a new mail deliverer about a year ago, our mail delivery service has deteriorated. First, there was the consistently wet mail, all summer long -- I'm talking about bills so wet, they came out of the envelope limp and blurry. Then, the missing bills -- three of them, for which I had to pay late fees and suffered damage to my otherwise excellent credit rating. Misdelivered mail, almost every day, I receive mail for other postal customers. Makes me wonder who is getting my mail. Now, it's 5:30 on Monday, January 13, which is not a federal holiday, and there has been no mail delivery at all.
Believe it or not, some of us still do some business through the US Mail. Is it too much to expect service that actually works? I've filed a formal complaint against the USPS for the earlier problems, and someone was supposed to call me back within a week -- of course, no one didn't. When I call, I get the runaround or get put on hold and my call is disconnected. I even gave the mail carrier a nice tip for the holidays, hoping come baksheesh would get the job done -- but no go. When I went to my PO, the employee I spoke with told me the drivers are no longer allowed to drive into any driveway for deliveries. So, if a parcel does not fit in the mailbox at the street, I will now have to go in person to mail or pick up my parcels. I was told this was due to a mail truck striking a child in someone's driveway in some area far from here. So, does that mean, if a mail truck has an accident, they will no longer be able to drive mail trucks at all. Nonsense. I am furious that a service I should be entitled to is withdrawn for such a random and ridiculous reason. Then last incident I happened to be walking by window and actually saw a mail truck at my gate (never before in 20 yrs), opened gate to meet truck. Carrier was leaving. I'm thinking WT? He stops quickly, jumps out and grabs stuff from the ground behind our decorative post by the gate (not visible from house).
When asked why you are here and not leaving mail in mail box 2 mi down HWY, What I got for an answer was, "Okay, Thank you, bye," then he left. I walk back to house to close gate and couldn't walk back down the 300' drive to our front gate to find big rock blocking gate from closing. Being furious at this, I called local PO when head of rural delivery was back after holidays on 1-16-14 .Told story, she laughed then said, "I know this isn't funny," but did I call before cause she's having deja vu. I said NO, NEVER in 20 yrs has this happened. She takes address, first couldn't find it. Found it, tells me, "Oh your carrier is (name) and he's Filipino and probably didn't understand too well (Funny he can understand her)." She then says they'll tell him not to mess with gate. I Said, "No, Please Note that all mail goes to mailbox, not property, PERIOD." AS it always has been for years and if our attention is needed, leave notice like before. Do Not let this happen again. It's a great idea except that local post office and your mailmen don't like it at all, they feel that their job is in danger so they don't offer any help and assistance. You can ask for a mailman to pick up your boxes from home, but they refuse to scan it, means that you have not mailed the packages. For the second Christmas in a row, my totally inept Post Office (ARCH RD USPS) has stopped delivering my mail. No normal thinking person would make the unbelievably, breathtakingly ignorant decisions that the USPS makes - there is no difference between the USPS and Obamacare - all of it is broken down, run by inept underachievers that cannot be fired - if you cannot be employed in the real world, you work for the government, where the stupid go to make a living. (Can you tell I am beyond angry?) Christine who is the supervisor there is a psychotic liar, because I complain, she is also lying about delivering my packages.
During the year she (because I have signed 5 waivers) leaves packages on my porch, because I complained about my mail delivery to Sen. Diane Feinstein (who seems not to care) is not only not delivering paper mail, but has stopped package mail as well, and told Amazon that they attempted delivery and sent my packages back. The Arch Rd Post Office stopped delivering my paper mail because my mailbox bank is broken and again will not fix it - they do not maintain the mailbox banks, and the locks stick. They tell people that report the locks sticking that they do not fix the mailbox until it is broken, and then they do not deliver the mail for at least a month because they say they have a waiting list of broken mailboxes and are overwhelmed - IMAGINE if you will, in a private business telling people that they still have to pay for a service and they are on a waiting list to get around to servicing you when they get to you - no time frame - no sense of urgency, nothing. That is not a business, that is CHARITY- and I give enough charity to the US government for them to squander - they have ZERO respect for us, the customer. I SAY DO AWAY WITH THE USELESS USPS. They say they deliver the mail - but they cannot be relied upon to do so.

Unfortunately, we do not have all of the necessary supplies in our home to properly package and prepare all packages for shipping. We have always been able to bring boxes and packages into UPS and they would always ensure that our packages were properly secured before shipping. When she visited the USPS, however, the experience was quite the opposite. The clerks behind the counter made rude remarks and belittled her for showing up unprepared. Instead of politely directing her to where she could finish packaging the items that were to be shipped, they continued to ridicule her and cause her a great deal of frustration.
The rudeness was not contained to just behind the counter as some of the customers waiting in line joined in and made unnecessarily degrading comments. Unfortunately, we are a minority in this town and are constantly made to feel unwelcome. Although I understand that we may not be wanted here, we make every attempt to be polite and fit in as best as we can. It is one thing for people in the community to act in such a way, but for United States Postal Service employees to act this way while wearing the uniform and in front of other customers is unacceptable. These actions just act to reinforce the notion that we are not wanted here and that it is acceptable to treat people this way. I would like a follow up and hope to see some action taken to prevent future incidents.

If they keep doing that, people will use less and less USPS service, therefore, more branches to be shut down. I honestly think that they should invent an automatic service or check-out machine, therefore no more rude cashiers!
More than a month ago, I came into the post office to mail an international package. I waited in line. When it was my turn, she said that I needed to fill out a form. So I spent several minutes to fill the form. After I finished, she then asked me to go back to the end of the line to start over... What kind stupidity is this?! Didn't I not wait in line already? Although I was angry, I did what she asked because I needed to get the package out that day... I had no choice.
After that, she kept giving me hard time whenever I needed service... telling me that I did this wrong or that wrong, while I did correctly after using USPS and mail the same kind stuff over and over for years. Today I needed to mail another international package, but not urgent. Because of her previous stupid action, I asked her a short question on which form that I needed to use, while she was with another customer. Then she gave me a "speech": you are "walking over" a nice customer... This is not fair... I don't want to be interrupted when I am with a customer...
If she had been fair and nice to me at the first place, why would I want to "walk over" other people? Was it fair for me to wait in line twice???
By the time when it was my turn, she deliberately didn't want to serve me. She called out the manager and said "I want to clear something here." They both were rude. By that time, I decided to walk out and ignore their harassment which waste my time. Moreover, I wouldn't trust them with my mails and packages anyway. Then she called out loud "she steals that envelope" which I bought from another post office. I was kind enough to show them the red seal on the envelope from the other post office. However I was speechless by her behavior. Finally I said loudly to her "You are so STUPID!" She should be shamed of herself. Why such person is working for USPS?

I shipped my son's Christmas package to Japan on December 10th in USPS packaging, priority, and paid $75 to have it shipped. On December 24th, it was STILL IN CHICAGO'S SORTING FACILITY. As of today, December 28th, it was still -- YES STILL -- in Chicago. He had no gift to open on Christmas Day when we skyped together. We opened his, which arrived on time because it was shipped FROM JAPAN, but he had nothing -- why? BECAUSE IT WAS SHIPPED FROM OUR WORTHLESS UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE. I will never use this service again to ship internationally. That is inexcusable delay. What did I pay for?

This was a Christmas gift and my delivery date was 12/21/2013 and the package was picked up on 12/18/2013 from my home. My daughter contacted me on 12/21 and said it had not been delivered. I tried to track it and it showed it still sitting at the Bostonia post office in El Cajon, CA. I emailed the USPS about my priority mail delivery and gave my email address so they could tell me why the package had not been delivered - THEY NEVER RESPONDED!
As of today, 12/27/13, it is still not delivered and I have spoken to a USPS employee who gave me another case # and said her supervisor will be getting back to me - we'll see. Oh, and now my daughter's gift is at Federal Way, WA and is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Before I tell my story, I would like to say thank you to my local post office for they are the only postal employees who are helping me locating a 23lbs 9oz box shipped from the Bethpage, NY sorting facility. My father mailed out the package on Dec 17, 2013 with insurance, expected date of arrival Dec 20, 2013 from the Brooklyn, NY post office. My father called and asked if we received the package, which it never arrived. I was given the tracking number and the lovely customer service phone number, which is nothing but a joke. My father went back to Brooklyn, NY post office, where the package was mailed from and spoke with a supervisor and was informed that Brooklyn's facility and Bethpage's facility is so underman; that they gave my package to UPS.
I contacted the Brooklyn office and was told we don't give packages to others and just because you pay for priority doesn't mean you get priority. Nice, right. I contacted Bethpage and was asked for my information and someone will contact me. Yeah, right. Still the run around from Bethpage and Brooklyn. It left Bethpage and after that, who knows. The Cincinnati Advocate Office is no help, either. Rude, disrespectful. Truly, if you don't like your job, someone who needs a job, with a sweeter disposition would love to take over and offer assistance. Merry Christmas from the post office.

I have shipped several packages in the last 2 months through the Post Office that took forever to get to their destinations and the Postal Service is not updating their tracking information. I have one package right now (from California to Indiana) that has been in the Postal System for 16 days and not delivered. I shipped the package on Dec. 10 that went to Richmond, CA sorting facility and sat for a day (often times they sit in Richmond for several days). The last tracking information is December 11, 2013 when it left the Richmond sorting facility. It has never reached its destination in Indiana. It is very confusing to file a complaint on line at USPS, so I called the Customer Service number. I got to listen to a recording over and over and over, but was never connected with a representative so I finally hung up. I finally found a physical address to write to and that is my next step. I will also go to the local Post Office and complain. And since the Postal Service is a government contractor, I will also send a letter to my congress people.
Another package has been in the Postal System for 10 days without being delivered. This package took 5 days just to get from Northern California to the Southern CA sorting facility and there is no tracking info since it left the Bell Gardens facility. Another package I sent took 12 days to get from Northern CA to Texas. 3 days to the Southern CA sorting facility and 9 days from Southern CA to Texas. It actually got delivered. Another package that was shipped to Southern CA from Northern CA took 5 or 6 days and was delivered some time ago but the tracking info doesn't show it was delivered at all. I sent a Priority to my son who lives 4 1/2 hours away which took 3 days. The tracking information on that package states that it was delivered in my own town the same day I sent it.
There are more package deliveries I could complain about but I will stop there. The Post Office not only is not at all careful with packages (I have received a lot of broken stuff through the Post Office), but they have become totally incompetent. They keep raising the prices and the service gets worse. My son sent a very expensive coin to Canada (from his home with his mailman). He had to put a Customs form on it, of course showing what was in the package. The coin either never made it to the Post Office or just never left our town. It just disappeared! I have had similar things happen to me. And to end this, a few years ago, after an election there were 2 bags of absentee ballots later found in the local post office that were never delivered to the neighboring town 3 miles away.

I was told today by our Post Mistress at 4:30 PM (as I called to inquire if the mail was picked up of yet) that this was a courtesy by the post office. My flag was up & I have had pick up at this address for over 26 yrs. She said if the deliverer didn't have mail to be delivered, she doesn't have to pick up even if the flag is up. But maybe she didn't see the flag was up if no mail was to be delivered. That she might be looking at other mail boxes. When I questioned a courtesy was something I never heard of she said it has always been a postal system rule. That if I had mail to be picked up to put it in those blue boxes & proceeded to tell me where the closest one was. Or if I had mail to be picked up & no mail to be delivered to call in the morning to be picked up.
When I asked how am I supposed to know if there is mail to be delivered, she said to call again. Does anyone on here know what this is about & why do we need the post office. Or is this something our post office has made up by themselves. By the way she acted like the mail deliverer was back at the PO but she came by 5 mins. later when it was dark.

I had some health problems a few years back and when I didn't pick up my mail from my mailbox, the carrier placed a note in the box that stated it appeared I had moved. (The same dogs were still in the yard?????) and they were stopping mail delivery until they had a forwarding address. Well it happened again. I had one of the dogs in my back yard for almost 2 years now and the second dog I have had since labor day (my previous dogs were old and crossed the rainbow bridge). I had a health emergency that made it difficult for me to do anything and did not think to call the Post Office to hold my mail even though I was home. I was unable to walk down to the group of locked boxes to retrieve my mail. I had people visiting and the sidewalks were cleared as well as the driveway. The stairs weren't cleared because everyone just entered through the garage. I felt well enough to check for mail today and low and behold, no mail.
The last time this occurred I told them if I moved I would leave a forwarding address, but evidently they have lost that note. Now like the other person who will have to arrange transport, I will have to somehow get to the post office and figure out what they have done with my mail. I think this episode is going to get me to use an electronic delivery of all of my bills ( I already pay electronically) and leave the postal office out of the loop entirely. No wonder they are having issues with their budget. If I was working and just decided I would stop doing something for a customer, I am sure I would be fired!
Unfortunately, like the previous time, I doubt if any action will be taken in regards to the situation which is why I will probably start requesting electronic billing. At least that way, I know the PO can't tell my billers that I don't live at this address anymore (which they had no proof of in the first place). To my knowledge they never even came to my door to check. I would have been home unless I was at the doctors' or it was one of the few days I was in the hospital, but since there were no footsteps in the snow which has been in place for quite sometime now, I doubt if they even tried.
Now I have to contact all of the people I think may have tried to send my something in the last little while and again tell them that the PO determined I had moved when a move never took place. I am hoping that I can get it all straight since it is the end of the year and items like the escrow evaluation for my mortgage, and various tax documents may have been sent during this period.

Whatever negative scenario is playing out at Opa-Locka creates a myriad of problems and questions. Does the buyer or seller of the lost/stolen package file a claim? If the item was purchased by credit card (as was my case), does the buyer dispute the charge? How long does the consumer wait for a package to arrive (without tracking information updates) before taking action in an apparently meaningless search/inquiry with the U.S.P.S.? I am so annoyed by this situation that I will consciously avoid ordering any merchandise which comes out of the State of Florida.

I called the customer service for my area, explained my dilemma and he gave me an emergency code to give the supervisor to get my mail. I still didn't get my mail because supposedly it went out with the carrier for my Street. When I asked him today, he said he didn't have it. Hopefully tomorrow they will have my mail at the post office like their supervisor stated today during my uneventful visit.

On Friday, at 8:15 pm, I had a package tracked that showed was delivered to my home by the USPS. I had mail in my box for the day but no package. Again, the time showed 7:39 pm. At 7:00 pm, when we arrived home, we did not have any mail in our box at all, so after showing the package tracked, we checked the mailbox. I contacted the post office on Saturday and was informed at first that the package was delivered. When I explained to her the time, she stated, "Are you kidding?" The woman then verified the time and informed me that she didn't understand this. She called the carrier immediately while I was on the phone and asked her about the package and when she came back on the phone she states that the carrier said she delivered it.
I informed her that I was on the end of a dead end road at which point the carrier said she might have put it in the wrong box. Luckily it was a neighbor and we were able to retrieve the package. We get something in the box every day and on Saturdays, I receive my workers compensation check. Needless to say, my road did not receive any mail on Saturday and here it is, 9:34 pm, and no mail. Checked with the neighbors at 8:00 pm, no one had received any mail on this road again. Nothing is ever done when you do contact them. So, I have my check in limbo somewhere as I verified it had been mailed on the proper date as always. This is beyond ridiculous.

I shipped 3 boxes Priority Express Mail to Indonesia on different dates. Oct 28, 31 and Dec 2013. On 2 boxes Tracking says processed through sort facility Miami, for 6 weeks!! The other box says arrived at sort facility Miami, meaning never been processed to be shipped! Called 800 number after put on hold 83 minutes, she suggest to open a claim, then 2 weeks later received a letter says box in Indonesia and never claimed by addressee? Isn't that postal office supposed to deliver to addressee?? We put a track on Posindonesia.com, that tracking number couldn't be found. So who is lying in here? 1 box definitely lost at sort facility. Miami, USPS admits it and asks to file a claim! Easy to say! SOMEBODY STOLE IT then have the company pay the loss! Sadly, found out that my other friends also shipped boxes which through sort facility Miami, totally 19 boxes all lost there, all were shipped between October, November 2013. Anybody out there, please, Please help... We need to stop this crime, it's embarrassing Government! We have to report this to upper management to investigate sort facility Miami!

I have been living in the same house for over a year. A little over a month ago, a manager for the USPS showed up at my door and informed me I would no longer be receiving mail because my dog barked at my window. He stated his carrier had VIDEOTAPED the dog barking and that I would need to move my mailbox. I explained that my house was a rental and that the landlord didn't want the mailbox moved. I also explained my dog was always contained inside my home and that she wasn't a threat.
I contacted customer service and consumer affairs about this but nothing has been done. They still won't deliver my mail even though I moved my mailbox down to my garage so no one will walk past my dog. The postal worker who videotaped the inside of my house, nothing was ever done to him. The postmaster was extremely rude and unhelpful. She told me there had been a lot of dog bites in my neighborhood and it was her job to keep her carriers safe. By the way, I asked all my neighbors about this and no one had heard any dog bites. My old carrier, who delivered for over a year, said my dog was a problem even though she had met the dog and pet her and played with her. My dog has never attacked anyone, never lunged at anyone, has never been aggressive in anyway. My postal office basically told me I didn't know my dog very well and that is she extremely aggressive when I am not home. I saw the video their employee took and while she is barking, she didn't touch the glass ever. I guess I would bark also if someone was waving something in front of my face.
I just want my mail. And to know that postal workers aren't going to be videotaping the inside of my house. I would love to know if they have a legal foot to stand on but I can't afford to get a lawyer. I am finding it hard to believe that everyone who has had a problem, there isn't something that can be done. How is it legal for the USPS to just STOP delivering anyone's mail? How is it legal for carriers to tape the inside of anyone's home?

Employed for 26 years and have MS in IT Project Mgmt. My current managers have less education and years of service. They became managers solely based on who they knew and not what they know. I am a minority working in a very hostile environment because I am considered an "outsider" despite my education and length of service. My current managers have subjected me to all and every hostile act because I have filed EEO complaints against them. Keep in mind that EEO is the only legal avenue we have. I recently wrote to ALL our postal managers about my case including the PMG... All I received is no more than lip service. I am at the point where all managers and all of HR personnel and executives are seeking ways to subject me to any type of punishment they can get away with. I even have resorted to take one of my cases to Civil court. I truly feel that I am in a battle against all of the Postal managements and none of them have ever reached out to me and wanted to hear my side of the story. I have no idea how much higher I should go if emails to the PMG did not get me any answers. I could use any type of help and it will be very appreciated.

After going through an experience with my local USPS in zip code 99504, where they claimed to have delivered a package from a vendor but they did not, now the post office has delivered someone else's package to my address. It is an order of several books. This continues to happen and it is inexcusable that the post office doesn't bother to look at the delivery address on a package. I'll bet this package is listed as delivered in their system.

We moved here a year ago and the mail carrier would leave packages on the porch or open our truck and leave it in there. Heck one time, the lady even decided to let herself in my house without knocking and leave my mail inside because nobody heard her honk. A few months ago, she started to just sit out front of my house and lay on her horn. I complained because I am deaf in one ear and can’t hear certain tones and all this does is wake up my husband who works midnight shift. On Nov 1, I had enough of the horn blasting and called a complaint. I was told by the postmaster that his driver does not have to exit the car. I called the 1800 number and filed a complaint with them and was told that they never heard of drivers not being allowed to deliver mail to my door and with my disability, I would be accommodated.
Nothing changed and the driver this week decided to just leave a notice that I have a package waiting for me at the post office, to go pick it up. Never attempted delivery. I called postmaster and asked why. Since I can’t hear the horn, she will not be delivering my packages anymore. I explained to him what I was told from the USPS number and I was told that nobody is going to tell him how to run his office or what his drivers will or will not do. That IF I have a true medical disability, he would need to complete a form to send to Pittsburgh that will give his driver permission to exit her jeep to walk 20 feet to knock on my door and/or leave packages on my front porch because she has to be paid extra to leave her jeep.
Once again I called the USPS number again and filed another complaint. It was sent to Consumer Affairs. Today I was told by Consumer Affairs that carriers are NOT allowed to exit their cars for any reason. If I have a disability, I need to provide medical documentation to my local post office and they will complete a form and submit for approval for the lady to get out and walk 20 feet to my door. It’s funny though, every one of my friends has a mail carrier that brings mail to their front porch. Not one person in the area at different postal codes around have this issue.

USPS has lost 3 of 5 packages shipped in the same day. Paid for sig. confirmation - insurance and tracking - item was lost for 21 days and then left on a doorstep, refunded over $400 in 1 week. 1-800 number is a joke. The people are rude and not helpful at all. Called today - on hold for 37 minutes - was told that my package is sitting in the same city (for 6 days now) it was mailed from because I didn't ship expedited or priority. You insure package and they will come up with every excuse why you won't be able to collect the insurance money. USPS is The Biggest Fraud in the Country.

I'm having the same problem here. My package was initially sent about November 22 from Russia to California. It arrived in the United States on December the 1st. Using my tracking number, I can only track from December 1st to the 2nd. It is now the 4th and it hasn't moved from the Bethpage, New York sorting facility since then. It says It departed that facility, but shows nothing after. All these problems seem to be happening at the same time and same place (relatively). Could be a big issue the company is having. Still no excuse for such issues... I really hope I get my package soon, I've been waiting for a long time and paid a good amount of money for it to be lost like this... If it doesn't move within 3 days. I plan on filing a complaint.

I have had a very distressing time with USPS over the past couple of months. I order a fair amount through the catalog and eBay and never had a problem at that point in receiving my packages until October, 2013. The post office indicated on the website the order was delivered and I never received it... I called several times, ended up with Consumer Affairs, ended up filing a claim. Because I had never had a problem receiving any packages before, I never purchased insurance before, never had a reason to. First of all, my post office was slow about calling me back when I called two days after not receiving the package - by that time, the carrier didn't remember my package but said normal procedures would have been followed. The thing is I live in an area where the mailbox is not at the door or at the front of the house. The mail box is at a central location and you have to go with your key to get your mail (there are individual mail boxes for each address).
The postal carrier on many occasions has put the wrong mail in my box so I'm assuming that's what happened here. When I've received mail for my neighbors put in my box, I either route it back through the post office or walk it to them and stick it in their door. I was not afforded the same courtesy. The post office denied my claim solely because I didn't have insurance. A separate incident that I'm dealing with currently: On 11/22/13, I was able to get my mail normally. That was a Friday. I went back the very next day and my key didn't fit. I thought it was the key. I have another set and just figured I'd try it on Monday when I went for my mail. Using the other key, the key didn't fit. The key won't even go into the lock. I called my local post office first and they have yet to call me back.
Today is 12/2/13. I then proceeded to call the 800 number and have spoken with them. They keep saying someone will call me and no one has called me today. I've called every other day and finally had to ask the post office to hold my mail to ensure that the box doesn't over fill. NO ONE HAS CALLED ME BACK. The notes that are read are that THEY ARE WORKING ON IT and they also ask if my local post office has called me. They aren't working on anything. I stopped on 11/30/13 to check out the mail box/lock and nothing has been done. THEY ARE NOT WORKING ON IT. I DON'T BELIEVE THEY HAVE DONE ANYTHING. I will be calling Consumer Affairs AGAIN TODAY for this matter. I will also write a letter to the Office of Public Affairs and Government Relations. Absolutely ridiculous.

USPS has the worst service ever. If I were able to pick what service I wouldn't pick this one. Unfortunately when purchasing online this was the only option! I had a package that was suppose to be redelivered because the business was closed. I've scheduled a redeliver 3 times and still haven't received it. It's been 4 weeks and nothing. Calling USPS numbers (7 I was given) and none answer after 30-35 minutes, they put you on hold and then hang up. If they answer you, the workers don't even give you an answer. They just keep giving you numbers to call and a case number every time! I am very disappointed and tired of having to call and wait so long!!! USPS is the worst!

Well one thing is for sure USPS You guys are not getting that many calls of people telling you how great of a job you are doing, so that tells me this is NOT just happening to me.
Over the last 2 months my online business has now suffered so much I will be lucky to even stay in business till the end of the year. I am praying right now that I can do well enough for Black Friday to pull my business. My family and my life out of the hole enough to stay afloat . The stress is insane, emails flying everywhere "WHERE IS MY ORDER." Nasty Phone calls from customers. Being blasted all over forums and Facebook making me into a thief and a scammer.
ALL Because the damn USPS is not doing their job properly! I have had about 50 lost orders seems as most of them were in or around area code 352 a few in California and a few on the east coast. Charge-backs like crazy just total royal destruction of a small business that really didn't need to be. Plain and simple, these guys are inept and have no pride in their workmanship. They have no accountability in their job and it shows by the complete lack of disregard for goods shipped with them everyday. For the MAJORITY of items I take delivery on at my home, I know that the shipping carton will be damaged and the contents subsequently damaged. A parcel delivered in good condition with the contents in the original ship condition is a rarity - an exception to the rule. The sooner these idiots go out of business the better. Tired of subsidizing stupidity and laziness. Don't bother trying to rectify - these guys are covered in Teflon.

I called USPS to open an investigation for stolen mail. I was unable to reach anyone at the Riverside Post Office on Chicago. The people at this post officer never answer their phone from my previous experience. I had to call USPS main office to file a complaint. I was told that a manager or supervisor would attempt to retrieve my package and would call me within a few days. I called back after 1 week to see why a manager never contacted me about this claim. I was not given an answer except that an email would be sent to a manager again, requesting for them to call me asap. I called after 1 month and again, no response, nothing.
I was able to get a couple numbers to a manager, Ricky ** and the post master, Linda **. I left a message with a postal representative for Ricky ** to please call me. I never received a phone call, email, message, mail, no response. Neither Ricky nor Linda answer their phones. I have had previous issues with missing mail through this post office and they are always relaxed about doing anything about it. The message they are sending is that stealing mail is easy & rarely are perpetrators caught & convicted. Basically, it is an easy crime to get into for dumb criminals or just about anyone. My mail had tracking with insurance and confirmed delivered to my previous address.
When people steal your mail, it is a violating feeling and one with no recourse apparently. I do not believe all post offices are as unprofessional and lazy as the employees are here. But, the main USPS did nothing either. I had to make a police report and now it went to a detective. I can only hope that I will get some justice through the law enforcement since I am unable to do so through USPS.
