A few months ago, my truck was stolen, and unfortunately my mailbox key was in it. The replacement of this key is $75.00, I am a single mom of three, and coming up with this money has been a task. So my postman handed me the mail. No big deal, right?? Well, my postman has retired, and upon asking the new officer for my mail with my lease and ID in hand, he explained that the manager at the branch told him NOT to hand ME mail any longer.
As with any other complaint, there are many details and accusations, which is usually why complaints are made, so I will fast forward....I made a complaint to the 800 number about the level of service, and was shocked when the person I complained about was the one handling the complaint. BIG CONFLICT OF INTEREST. He then explained that he doesn't have to hand me my mail, treated me like I had done something wrong.
I called the 800 number again, and asked them to ensure the complaint goes to someone other than him. They issued another complaint case number, and once again.... I get a phone call from this same employee that I am complaining about. But this time, he's obviously irritated, and with his delegated power is almost taunting me. Well, I thought maybe a face to face explanation of the hardship I was having and how appreciative I would be if he could understand, would create a better outcome. Unfortunately I was wrong.
I walked out in tears when he told me He not only wouldn't hand me my mail, but that he would start sending all of my mail black if I didn't purchase a key. I asked, almost begged for him not to do this. I explained that it would create even more hardships for my family, and pleaded with him to not do this. I then asked him one question.... "Why?" If he can choose to either hold my mail or even hand deliver it, why would he choose not to? If there were any other remedies, if even for a temporary time frame, why didn't he decide to let me know other options?
When armed with insight of the situation I was in, knowing I have no money, seeing me cry and beg for him to not send my mail back, why did he choose to show no concern and create the amount of hardships he has? And lastly, why is it that Every time I made a complaint, three total, He was the person handling the complaint? This was the beginning of misuse of his power. The last complaint was promised to not go to this employee, and yet again, it did.
It was the last phone call he made to me that let me know just how malicious a person can be when armed with power. He told me I will not get my mail. And with mean and bad intentions, said "NOW WHAT???" He hung up the phone, laughing, and that was it. My life now consists of explaining and arguing that I do still live at my address. I have to go to meetings with important administrations who assist my life with proof that I do live here. My income has been interrupted, my electricity has been interrupted due to not knowing the account number, and so many other things I have been forced to deal with when I could've been spending time with my kids. This is a true scenario of ABUSE OF POWER, and it's not right.

I waited yesterday in the house all day for the USPS to come. Until 6 pm it showed me out for delivery. Then I called 1-800-ASK-USPS and they said it should have been delivered or left a notice by then. I file a complaint and half an hour later, the status changed to undeliverable as addressed. Called again, ask them to verify address and hold the package. I've been told there is nothing I can do, it will go back to the sender! How is that possible? The sender is my husband. He has the receipt, everything is correct. How can they mess up so bad? I am waiting for extremely important documents, don't know what to do.

Had to vent about this as not first time it has happened. We have similar address to someone else and occasionally items have been misdelivered in the past. Mistakes happen and not basis of my complaint. I was expecting 1 day priority mail (small package/envelope size) and tracking said out of delivery. Saw postman come and go and went to get item. When not in box, I checked tracking info and it said had been delivered to our address. After couple days I printed out tracking with note asking postal carrier to try to locate. He actually left response that he had indeed delivered item that day as tracking indicated.
Specifically, said he put on porch. (Again, I was home and know untrue. And carrier would NEVER bring package that small to porch. Box had more than enough room and he tries to stuff even large packages in to avoid walking to porch.) Misdelivered package not as upsetting as note stating something untrue. Package appeared in box few days later. This has now happened again. 1 day priority mail that was important. Said delivered Saturday (I was home and it was not) and based on last incident, clear that carrier will not assist in locating package. Not sure what to do.

Orange Post Office refuses to deliver package. PS form 3849 was left on 9/27 in spite of fact that recipient was working within earshot at time of "attempted delivery". No knock or doorbell attempted by carrier. Re-delivery request immediately initiated per instructions at usps.com email form and verbally on telephone. Completed, signed ps3849 presented to USPS carrier on 9/29. The carrier refused the document saying she was not allowed to accept the redelivery request unless she actually had the package.
Redelivery requests were again submitted online and verbally by phone on 10/1 (**). Peter stated that the local Orange PO had not acknowledged the 9/29 request for redelivery but he would contact them and have the package delivered asap. Because this was only one of a series of problems with direct contacts with the Orange PO, I asked to have someone call me from Consumer Services (**). This is but one problem in a long history of the Orange, NJ PO not providing services and refusing my direct inquiries. This was the response:
We encourage you to ask for the manager on-site to describe the concern. Personal consultation ensures direct attention and managers are in the best position to address incidents of this nature. ** "Your case has been investigated and a solution has been provided to you. Should you have any additional concerns, please return to www.usps.com to send them to the appropriate office. Please do not reply to this message".**. No solution has been provided and still no package.
10/2 the carrier finally took the signed ps3849. As of 10/5 tracking shows no plans for a redelivery attempt. The package is important Indian art work insured for $700 needed by the ** College of NJ History Dept. I am presently writing complaints to the Postal Regulatory Commission, PAGR and my Congressional representatives but that will not help short term to recover the package. District Customer Service representatives are obviously part of the problem. Do I need to report the package stolen by postal employees, fill out a police report and start the insurance recovery process?

Package was not delivered and said we were not home and we were. This has happened several times. They go to the wrong address and don't read the address on the package. I have had to deliver mail that was left at my house several times. Do the carriers read the address or do they know the layout for the streets?

I had two packages that I shipped with the fastest and most expensive international service delivered by usps and with a guaranteed delivery date. One was to Australia that was lost for about 30 days and eventually found and delivered and the second was to Singapore which was delivered a couple days late. I'm entitled to refunds on both but I was unable to submit a claim because when you purchase the postage on usps.com website it wasn't providing the date for the guaranteed delivery like it used to. I call the 1 800 ask usps and they couldn't proceed without this date... seems if there is a problem they weren't expecting, they have no solution so I contacted my local post office and had an email exchange with the manager over several weeks about how to proceed, and nothing got done and now I'm told the time to make the claim is elapsed so there is nothing they can do. They owe me over $150 and short of spending thousands of dollars in legal costs I have no hope of collecting.

It is now 10/2/2014 and it has yet been delivered. I have gotten the runaround. Just pissed off. I call the first time and one guy from USPS said that I could go get my package from the postal office, that I just needed to find out from FedEx when it was going to get at the local USPS office. Ok then I found out from FedEx that the package was already there at my USPS local office and they also gave me the tracking # from USPS, ok. I call the second time to USPS and gave them the tracking# and they said there's no choice for me to pick up my OWN package at the office, and I said and how the other customer service told me I COULD. And she only said NO there's no choice. I said not even with my ID so they can make sure it's really me.
She said, "No we have to deliver to the address as shown on the package," and I said it's my address and I need this package now because USPS can't guarantee I'm getting my package until Monday and Monday is really late and needed for Friday not Monday. THIS LADY from USPS customer service ruined my JOB that I need to perform on Friday night. I wish the same guy that I talked first could have answer to me the second time I call. THEY should all help the same way. Not all customer services are the same.

The Post Office in Columbia, TN is the worst post office EVER! I gave this office the benefit of the doubt for over a YEAR - hoping the staff would CHEER UP. I had my fill of the post office this morning when they decided it was ok to open my package to "make sure" it was a priority box I was using. It said priority on the outside and had several priority stickers as well as a priority shipping label. I WAS SENDING IT PRIORITY. Then they said that I was "one of the people who tries to break the rules." Um, for sending something in a PRIORITY box and paying PRIORITY shipping?

Have lived at residence for over 20 years. No regular mail carrier, legal documents took 3 months from Oakland to Martinez in 1997. Mail sent to doctor in Oxnard, CA not returned, but certified signed receipt letter in 2012 returned year later without any marking on letter why the letter had not been delivered or signed. Letters mailed to Health & Human Services Office of Civil Rights in 2013 because none of my doctors would provide copy of medical records or only a few years included and I am slowly dying because I was forced to ask for the medical test which diagnosed my illness that had completely disabled me after 12 years of no treatment, not even after test results were returned.
Most of all my doctors have either altered my medical records or written false records. This is why I send certified letters of confirmation of what was discussed with my doctor to prevent medical mistakes. HHS Office of Civil Rights sent letter that I had not received until over 5 months past postmark they closed case because they had not received any reply.
I notified Medicare Inspector General about all my false medical records because my medical device (bi-pap) had broken for the 4th time and I was waiting for a response how to replace because the original doctor violated Medicare rules to retest which after a year of no improvement, I got a second opinion and learned the specialist had "guessed" instead of retesting. Retesting proved bi-pap was wrong machine and I wanted a machine that functioned because the model I had been given had too many problems with the humidification unit.
I was also having problems receiving mail from complaints written to my Managed Health care company, Contra Costa Health Plan who would not investigate complaints regarding the doctors they had hired because falsely written records that I was unable to obtain. I had not received in the mail any billings from doctors or Medicare so I tried to perform an audit.
I found significant errors in Medicare billings which did not match the partial records I had received. False symptoms had been written to my medical records that I never reported and when I asked the medical group of Integrated Pain Management, Walnut Creek was informed it was added to my medical records to obtain payment from Medicare and they did this without my permission. Violation of Medicare laws to write a false medical record.
If I cannot get my mail delivered correctly, how am I going to complain about these doctors who harm patients to prevent them from hurting another? Doctors and government agencies must follow the laws that have been written. If enough taxes are not collected to fund the agencies that enforce regulations and laws government will not work.
Why is mail not being delivered correctly? What is the "real" problem? "Going Postal" is an expression invented as postal workers became extremely frustrated at managers' failures to address long standing problems at the postal services. Then Congress changed how the agency would be funded. What is the "true" reason mail is not getting delivered?
When my mail isn't delivered, it actually "kills someone" because I must use a medical device to breathe as my pain doctor failed to diagnose my illness and then continues to write a false record to cover-up the malpractice. This is why I voice record my medical appointments to verify everything is correctly written to my medical records. One Ear, Nose & Throat specialist informed me that only a tracheotomy tube surgery would be his recommendation and after my confirmation letter to him he failed to remember who I was and was unable to remember what he had diagnosed. He was only going to perform a surgery on my nasal turbinate without correcting the serious deviated septum just so he could received money from Medicare for performing piece meal surgeries that would fail to correct my medical problem wasting Medicare money and my time that would not help me to get well.
This is why medical costs so much money in the U.S and the outcomes are so bad. Thank God my father was a pharmacist and V. P. at Eli Lilly drug company who taught me how to question everything and research medical journals. Always get a second opinion because doctors in the U.S. will kill you if your medical records are incorrect. Omissions of medical info is what they are best at doing. This is why it has taken me so long to get from one doctor to the next as I lobby, notify gov agencies of broken laws and the public about bad doctors and bad medical care that is spent without providing any health benefit to the people.
This is why not receiving my mail about complaints filed with federal and state agencies in D.C. & Sacramento and Contra Costa County (Martinez) is critical. Now I will be resending all these letters again. Someone please help! Certified letters now written to send to postmasters, postmaster general in D.C. and people should created a "sit-in" at the town council meetings when their mail isn't correctly delivered. Everything starts at the ground up because D.C. has now become as bad as Rome became just before the Barbarians sacked Rome because of corruption.
We have social media so use it to embarrass the postmaster at each post office at town council meetings. Sit holding a large sign and find the TRUE CAUSE why mail is not correctly delivered. We must support rural communities to obtain mail deliveries because newspapers were delivered in the 1700's-1900's by mail. Learn the history of why the postal service was created. We all want competent mail delivery and most mail carriers do want to provide a good service unless they are angry about how their managers have "not" supported them.
Blame the postmaster as she was sent a certified letter and another giving instructions how to forward my mail. She never forwarded my mail or held my mail. Black hole because I was waiting for a response from CMS regarding a non-functioning medical device Bi-pap is needed to breathe because of medication taken at night and my airway can collapse. I don't have a functioning device and the medical report that was written for Medicare by two separate specialists wrote incorrect medical info and Medicare rules changed. Luckily the bad Durable Medical Equipment company that failed to follow Medicare rules can no longer provide service to Medicare patients who gave me this bad machine, but a new report had to be written by a third doctor. That doctor after a year still has not written the corrected report sending it to the Medicare approved company locally.
This is the reason it is so critical all people get copies of their medical records and view their records to prevent false medical records or errors. Errors is medical records kill and this is a major reason doctors omit a lot of complications that have occurred until the patient stabilizes at hospitals or medical offices. The only way you will protect yourself from "altered" medical records is if you keep a parallel record. Get a copy every six months to keep and demand amendments for the wrong medical info.
I was shocked when totally false conversations were written by my pain management doctor so he could protect his job at a large medical group. Doctors don't hold bad doctors accountable for bad medical care. All they do is say "let's move forward and I don't have the authority to correct the error". You must push back against stupid comments demanding "proof" of what they have told you or what has been written to the record. Always voice record everything and write a written letter sent certified return signed receipt to protect yourself.
Everyone uses the excuse post office failed to deliver. I learned this working at a CPA and law firm. File repeated small claim legal cases and harass by name the postmaster. The "people" do have the "power," they just need to learn how to use it. "March on Washington or March on your Town Council" demanding service from postmaster. Why did Washington D.C. not receive all my letters to HHS Office of Civil Rights after a case number was assigned and faxes were sent before the same letter was mailed?

On Saturday September 20th in the morning I sent a package, first class, certified mail, from my local post office. The expected delivery date was Monday September 22nd. I tracked my package and it never arrived on the expected delivery date. I gave it a few extra days just to be courteous but when my package didn't arrive by Thursday September 25th I contacted U.S.P.S. customer service (800-275-8777) and spoke with a female customer service agent who recommended I open up a case and to find my lost package so I did. This customer service agent gave me a case number, collected my contact information, and told me someone from USPS would be in touch with me within 24 hours with an update on my package status. I never heard from anyone at USPS.
I contacted customer service again on Monday September 29th and spoke with another female customer service agent at the 800 number, who was very apologetic and was doing her best to assist me. She updated the notes in my case number file. At this point I told her I would just like to be able to pick up my package and I will hand deliver the package on my own and I would appreciate a refund and all charges to be waived, she posted this information in my notes. She told me I might want to check with the Hartford USPS location as based on the tracking history my package was last scanned (Sunday September 21st at 12:52am) from there and my package is in transit from this location. She also recommended that if I don't get an answer from Hartford USPS location that I might want to contact Consumer Affairs.
I drove to the USPS station in Hartford to see if my package was there and of course it wasn't. I spoke with a male customer service agent who gave me a print out of the tracking of my package and he told me to contact the local Hartford Dispatch Sort Facility and speak with someone there because this is where my package might be or that my package could still be on a mail delivery truck. I contacted the local number given to me and spoke with the female information desk representative who patched me through to a man in customer service where I had to leave a message!!! I'm still waiting to hear back from this man in customer service.
I'm beyond annoyed and disappointed at this point. I needed this package to be delivered by the absolute latest today. My package had confidential information in it and now I just can't believe this has happened. At this point I'm ready to stop all of the mail carriers in the area on my own to see if my package is on one of their trucks.

Since moving to our building in Clinton Hill, NY four years ago, we have received countless notifications from USPS informing us that a carrier tried to deliver a package but "no one was home." My husband and I BOTH work from home and it's very rare for both of us to be out at the same time during the work week, and there is NO way that we have missed all of these "attempts." We then have to wait 24 hours before we have to take time out of our day, go the the post office in person, inevitably wait in line and get our envelope or package. We've repeatedly talked with the supervisor, but were told that our building does not have a regular carrier and that our building is serviced by whoever's available that day.
Obviously these carriers don't feel accountable to our building and it's easier for them to leave a notice rather than ring the bell and have to wait for us to come to the lobby. We are getting nowhere with the supervisors and are fed up with this laziness. So much for "through wind or sleet or snow or rain." We pay taxes and want the services we pay for. If these lazy workers don't like their job, I'm sure there are plenty of other people who'd love to have a job. If I can answer questions, please get in touch. We cannot keep doing this.

Today the mail lady drove by my house and did not deliver my mail. She claimed there was no room to park her truck. We have a white line that is about 8 feet long that runs parallel to the mailboxes and its no parking zone - Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. To 5 p.m. That area was clear, there were no cars parked within the white line. She claims that she couldn't park in there, the mailbox zone was clear of any cars. She continued to the next mail box and parked at an angle due to the owners was inside the no parking zone. So I'm like she could have done the same thing in front of my mail box but she didn't. I waited for her to come back down the street. At that time I confronted her and asked her, "Why did you not drop off my mail?"
She stated there was no room to park. I then stated that there was no one in the no park and there was room for her to get in there either with her truck or to walk to the mailbox 5 feet away and deliver the mail. She refused. I pointed out again that no one was in the no parking zone but she refused again. I told to just do her job. She got upset and started to take my picture. When I was on my property, she stopped in front of my house house and delivered my mail to me while standing in my driveway. I took some pictures upper part half and and half out delivering the neighbors mail and she may no effort to deliver mine. The past 6 months my soft packages are stuffed in the mailbox, no matter how big they are and have actually caused used to nearly pull the mailbox of of the stand. Some these boxes contain expensive products or clothing.
I have complained over the years about poor service and it does no good because these people really don't care. Some of the boxes look like they have been beat up. It is really frustrating to have to put up with this kind of service and no concern for the public. It happened again today and the box was left leaning against an address post next to the street. USPS is still incompetent. After having mail admittedly held in the St. Louis office to bolster their reports, USPS is still either holding or losing mail. Here is just a sample of the problems I have had recently:
My wife lost her job and was mailed a rather large amount of money for severance however it never came. Many phone calls to agents only resulted in excuses and the inability to find this package. Finally had to put a stop payment on it and have it resent by the employer (but had to wait for the next two-week pay cycle to issue the check). Of course USPS wasn't affected so it was of no concern to them.
On another occasion when my son got back from deployment in August, I ordered a part for a vehicle I was building for him in order to surprise him when he got home, however the part never arrived. The shipper was very apologetic and refunded my money and then as a courtesy reshipped the item. It still did not arrive in time and I had to order from someone else that did NOT use USPS. I got that one but not in time for what I had intended. My son came home and then went back to his duty station and three weeks later the original part came.
Just recently, I ordered some more parts online and didn't realize they shipped by USPS until it was too late. The items were time sensitive again only to get a text that the package had some form of delay. When tracked, I discovered my package had been sent to St. Louis, and then to Texas when in fact it was supposed to be delivered in Missouri. When I FINALLY was able to file a query through USPS defunct website, I got an email saying my package did not go to Texas. I did a screenshot of the tracking info I received and sent it to the representative only to be then told some line about the shipper blah blah to fed ex blah blah to UPS blah blah and then to them.
I work with children on a daily basis and even 10-year-olds can come up with better excuses than the one I got as to why it was someone else's fault they lost my package. I now vow to never do business with any vendor that uses USPS as their sole shipping agent again unless some form of Government oversight can properly fix this broken system.

So I called Consumer Affairs, and of course I got a recording. I left a message with the tracking number and my phone number and no one returned my call. My daughter's wedding is in 1 month and I really need the dresses. Hope this doesn't turn into a long drawn out deal and we get the dresses in time for her wedding!

I would recommend using any other shipping company in the country over USPS. I would go as far as not ordering products from companies that use USPS for their shipping. They're just far too unreliable. They virtually never meet their self-imposed delivery deadlines and they don't refund you even if you pay for expedited shipping and they fail to deliver on time. This is a very poorly run organization and the customer service is atrocious. If you have no choice but to use them don't bother paying for expedited shipping as they will NOT deliver on time.

After waiting 3 days for my past due check to be delivered to my home, I had to put a vacation hold on my mail and leave on July 9, 2014 to work a job in CA. I called George the postmaster everyday for 2 weeks to have him check for my pay check. I was always told it was not there. Then I put a temporary forward in and received the check in a week after costing me $20 to FedEx another check as I stopped payment on the first one. On August 11, I cancelled my temporary forward by calling in on the 800 number of the post office and also the Marana, AZ post office and was told the forward was cancelled. I received 6 pieces of mail in about 5 days with the yellow forwarding sticker in my Marana mailbox. Then my first class mail stopped.
Another check mailed to me on August 18 has not been delivered to me and I have called the company everyday and am told the check has not been cashed or returned to them. I called the Marana post office and got no help or information. I then called the postal office consumer affairs in Phoenix several times with a request to check into my lost mail and talked with Janel, a manager. She did not call me back. I requested her manager, Jackie who took the information and did not call me back, so I called her. She said she would mail me a large envelope for me to send her the envelops of any mail I have received and she would look into why my mail situation and as for the lost check I should just get another one issued, which will take 3 weeks for me to get it.
As of now I have no money until I get my check. I am going to request another check on August 22 if I do not receive the check by then. She never mailed me the envelope. I also called the postal inspector and filed a complaint and did not hear back from them. Last Saturday I received mail in my box for another address. On another vacation hold, I requested my mail be brought out and got a call at 5pm from someone my mail had been left on their front porch. The house was a mile down the road.

I ordered an item for medical use and I paid shipping. It was sent Priority 2 Day. I realize there is no guarantee for that. Tomorrow will be one week since it was submitted to USPS and day after it was at the sending facility. I could have driven to the place in ten hours but of course that is not feasible. I called yesterday since tracking said my package is in a city in Texas... I live in Florida. I called USPS and was told it would be here today. I called again today and was told it would be here tomorrow. When I inquired as to where the item is, I was told "somewhere" between Dallas and you. Great help? Not! I assured the postal service that I will not order any packages online unless they ship UPS or FedEx, and I do order a lot online. So, I will see what tomorrow brings.

Two weeks ago I mailed a letter using priority mail. In the letter were two checks written from two separate banks. The postal service and workers at the post office from where I mailed the letter have not been helpful in trying to locate the mail. Either no one answers the phone from the numbers I have been given and the online system doesn't work and the postal workers at the post office where I mailed the letter have not been helpful. I had to stop payment on both those checks and each bank charged me $30.00, which means I have had to pay $60.00 to stop payment. Now I am trying to collect the 50.00 insurance that is covered with priority mail, for which I paid $5.65 to mail the letter, and no one answers phones - I am tired of talking to machines. This is ridiculous. All I want now is get the insurance because I have to spent money to stop payments on checks.

If you use an online site to do a change of address, be careful you know who you are doing business. Change of addresses can be done by going into your local post office, getting a card from your letter carrier, or going to USPS.com. There is no charge for the first two methods. The third costs $1.05, at the time of this writing & is subject to change. If you use another company, be careful with the information you give them because they could be taking your information for some other purpose.
The USPS will ask for a name, the old address, the new address, and will charge your credit or debit card a minimal fee. If you pay more than $1.05, you are being ripped off. A verification letter will be sent to your old address which will then be forwarded to your new address. You will also receive a CHANGE OF ADDRESS CONFIRMATION at your new address which will contain a confirmation code. You can use that code to make any necessary changes, if there are any, at USPS.com. A permanent change of address is valid for one year. A temporary change of address can be for a minimal of three days up to 364.
If you have problems or questions, call 800-275-8777 (800-ASK-USPS). They appreciate understanding and reasonable thinking people who are not accusatory (especially when you are the one who chose to use a business that is not the USPS) and who remember the manners their parents taught them. If you use a site other than USPS.com, the USPS will not give you a refund because you've contracted with a non-postal service business. Use them at your own risk.

I was told they did, well I inferred really because, "we are experiencing an unusually high call volume, goodbye." Well click your heels together cause it never shows up in Kansas, so we get a call, not a letter, letting us know the rents late! What to do?
Seems this ones on me, I don't write nor email. I call this postal station in Fell's to inquire further and am informed that a large number of letters were soaked by a recent rainstorm, soaked to the point of Papier-mache. One big glob of post. Impossible to decipher, so it's shredded, I'm told. All the items were shredded so maybe those checks won't get cashed erroneously. The suggested solution; put my mail in a Ziploc the next time I hand deliver it to the nice lady. They do lose a lot or quaintly deliver mail completely destroyed but nicely sealed in a complimentary plastic bag. I'll start recycling these bags whilst posting, I think I'm getting this thing down...yeah!

It used to be when USPS delivered a damaged piece of mail they at least acknowledged it. Not so much as a sticky note for these two packages I recently received. I don't know where along the chain this is happening... meaning I don't know if it's my local USPS delivery guy that is so fed up with his job he's drop-kicking packages or playing football with them, or if it's other postal employees along the way.
I received a package from Amazon via USPS (thank god if it's UPS I never receive it... different story / complaint) 29 August 2014. It looked like someone had literally been kicking it around. Photos below. Luckily, it happened to be clothes so nothing was broken. I took photos and was mildly annoyed, but thought I would just forget about it as an isolated incident. Then I receive a package from USPS today, 9 September 2014 and guess what? The package looked the same! See photos below. This package was kicked so hard that the item (a hair straightener) came out of the other box it was packaged in! What in the world is wrong with people?
I would call USPS and complain directly except I know it will fall on deaf ears. There is no accountability so the call will just be a waste of my time. In fact, whomever I complain to will never pass the message along to anyone who can actually do anything. Why? Because who cares, right? What can I do about it? Except post photos and complain online...

I have lived at the same home address for the past 15 years, the first 5 years we received our mail usually around 2 and 3 pm. Then over the next 5 years the mail started to be delivered anytime between 2 and 6 pm, and on occasion we didn't have any mail - not so much as a flyer for up to 2 days. However, with the mail delivery the following day the mailbox was overflowing with what appeared to be a couple of days' mail. This last few years, the mail has been a crap shoot on if it has been delivered at all, so my concern of what time has become what day if at all. This is stressful when waiting on specific items which leads into the next issue.
Due to not receiving important items such as a check, the delivery method had changed to being certified so the company would have a signed record of receipt. I was not home for the first attempt and left a card to pick up the item at the local post office. Unfortunately, when I went to do this, because the carrier not having noted the pick up card what the item was if it was a package or a letter, nor the number, they had a hard time locating what was sent as they had to essentially go through each of the bins of parcels in order to find the one addressed to my last name as it didn't even note the first name on the card.
Last but not least, I paid to have a package sent overnight to my daughter in another state, when she called to tell me it had not arrived I went online to track it, which said it never left the post office where I mailed it from. I went back to the post office to find out what had happened, after they did some searching and made a few phone calls, apparently it was mailed from the branch I mailed it from to the processing center and that was where it stayed. I was reimbursed my overnight fee and the package was sent and received the following day, which was 4 days later than it was supposed to be.
I have lowered my standard of wanting my mail delivered around the same time daily, and simply want daily. However, certified and overnight parcels being that these cost additional fees should at least be handled according to the terms of the agreement when purchased. How can I justify using USPS when I can't have peace of mind using them. I'd rather pay the difference and use FedEx or UPS.

The tracking number died the day the box was supposedly out for delivery from station.10022. Not one of the many many USPS officials I talked with over the last month have actually done their job of locating this rather large and heavy box tracked to the postal station FDR 10022. They have told me repeatedly that they will look for it and get back to me. Not once has anyone gotten back to me about my parcel. When I call USPS again and give them all the information all over again I get a different person. Some of these people have been supervisors and they won't admit they can't locate it. I ordered an item online through a store that I frequently shop. I tracked the package through their text tool and had been following for two days. It was shipped priority 2-day shipping with insurance. I ordered the item on the 29th of August. The item arrived in my city on Labor Day so I was excited because I just knew it would be in my box the next day. I waited around all day for it. The mail man never stopped at my door, nor did I see him on my street at all that day. I went out to my box several times to check it.
Around 6pm, I received a text alert stating that my package had been delivered at 2:30pm. Astonished, I raced outside and surveyed my property in case he had left it on the stoop or in my door. Nothing. I placed a claim with USPS and they were supposed to call me today. I was home again today waiting for my package or a call from the claims department. Nothing. When I called back to USPS customer service, I was told to call my post office directly. The woman who answered said she was from consumer affairs for USPS. She proceeded to tell me that since the status of my package said it had been delivered, my insurance did not apply and I had no other recourse, because their obligation in her eyes had been satisfied. She was not apologetic, nor was she concerned.
So basically, I am out the money I spent on the item, because the merchant has the same information on his system saying that the package was delivered, even though it has not. This is a huge problem that needs immediate attention, as letter carriers have the power to virtually steal your mail. All they have to do is scan it and it's their word against yours. Unfortunately, the USPS is not in favor of the consumer and they have sided with their carrier. The lady I spoke to on the first call even confirmed that this is an issue with their carriers that they are trying to resolve. I will use UPS and FEDEX for everything going forth. No wonder they are struggling and have to keep increasing the price of stamps to stay afloat. Treat the customer fairly.

8/27 mailman was caught taunting my dog after dropping the mail instead of leaving. He had previously been caught leaning over my porch railing to taunt the dog through the 6-foot fence; that railing is located 11 feet north of the mailbox, which exceeds the area he has consent to be in. Because he was told to get off the porch due to his malfeasance, he argued with me, got a neighbor to join in, and returned to my property to re-engage the argument. His justification was that the door was open. A complaint was filed against him on 8/27 following his conduct which appeared to indicate he was having a mental episode.
8/28 we received no mail. 8/29, his supervisor came to view the property and was shown that at all times the dogs were confined and unable to reach the mailman. Specifically, the fence is 6 feet high and keeps the rear of the house fenced in; it does not provide access to the front where the mailbox is. Further, the side of the porch that reaches the fence is 11 feet long (North). The other side of the fence has a small garden separating it from the porch entirely. When the dog is inside the house, if he is at the front door, which is rare, he is secured behind an iron security door which has a deadbolt engaged.
8/29 we received mail. The mailman had placed on the mail from 8/28 that he could not deliver the mail because the dog was at the door. The delay in timely presenting my mail caused a hardship affecting my attendance at law school and jeopardized my enrollment for this session. If I miss enrollment this session, then I may not be able to make up the classes and may not graduate on time. It is improper and unacceptable to interfere with my contract with this school and the federal governments loan process. It is also intolerable and will not go unaddressed if it ever happens again. I will immediately file an SF-95 and take the matter into a federal court of law.
8/30 we received no mail. 9/1 we received no mail due to it being Labor Day. 9/2 we received mail. The mailman placed on the mail from 8/30 that they could not deliver the mail because the dog was at the door. In fact, we know this to be a lie because the only person outside was me, the complainant. I was repairing cracks in the front sidewalk and my dogs were inside the house with my mother and outside in the fenced backyard most of the day. The time the dogs were in the front of the yard was from the hours of 6:50am-7:30am, which is when I sit on the front porch and drink a cup of coffee while welcoming the new day's sunshine. In fact, I was in and out of the house all day to finish the repair, which was followed by fertilizing soil and laying seeds for fall flowers.
I sincerely hope the mailman was not calling me a dog, because I'm not. I am the person who is filing this second formal complaint against him and will file an SF-95 against him if his conduct continues. Because this is the second time we have not received our mail and the second time the mailman has blamed it on our having a dog, who remains unable to reach him, I am filing this second complaint. It is my position that the mailman is engaged in unlawful retaliation for our taking the necessary steps to enforce our rights to not be or have our pets harassed by him. Prior to this our relationship was cordial, not personable; nevertheless, we never reported him for not showing up during winter months with the mail and writing snow on our mail when in fact we had shoveled since 7am and had a clear path for him to safely walk all the way to the mailbox. We could have reported that, but did not.
At this point, the mailman's bad attitude and apparently bruised ego are causing him to violate federal law by interfering with the mail through not timely delivering it and abusing the process of excuses for non-delivery by blaming our dog who was not present at the door either of the days he complained of, and a fact which can be proven. The mailman (whose name I do not know) is abusing his authority to deliver the mail and we are not willing to tolerate the same. For each offense a new complaint will be filed and copied onto an SF-95 effective immediately.
Our dog is licensed to this home. Our dog is also secure in this home or inside the fenced backyard. We do not care that the mailman's pride is wounded by the rejection of his romantic advances. We do not care that the mailman feels he has a score to settle with us choosing the dog over him. We do not care that the dog does not like the mailman; clearly he sees the mailman's vile core and doesn't care for him. Nevertheless, had the mailman just performed his job and moved on, the dog would not have noticed him.
On August 27, 2014, the mailman had finished dropping the mail when the dog heard it and came to investigate the noise. Generally he barks at the mailbox, where the noise comes from. However, on August 27, 2014, the mailman CHOSE to stay, not at the mailbox, but at the door and look in, to which the dog responded by barking at him through the locked, iron, security door. The dog will be here, so if this mailman has a problem with that, then someone else needs to bring the mail. We are exhausted of viewing his emotional problems manifesting in his route and have no interest in swapping stories or sharing lives with him. We prefer the dog, with all due respect. If my mail is not delivered and the dog is blamed again or some other lame excuse is proffered, an SF-95 will be filed.
For those who don't know, this has gone on for over a year - the mailman attempted to ingratiate himself to my brother in an attempt to secure dates from me - clearly he's thinking in the wrong century, but that's not the point. If he saw me outside, he would drive like crazy and blow his horn like a madman trying to reach me before I could run in the house. I started hiding in the yard until I heard his truck go by. Clearly this guy is stepping over too many boundaries and causing too much discord to remain unaddressed.

On August 16th I sent a package out via USPS priority mail 2 day service with signature confirmation from Ohio to California. The last scan for this package was saying it left the Columbus Ohio sort facility on August 16th. I had to sell this item on ebay so I could have money to buy my son clothes for school and school supplies (single mother) and the package has still not turned up.
I contacted USPS who screwed up the first case, I've gone through 3 case numbers for this package, they do not call you back. I was suppose to receive a call from the district in Cincinnati and that never happened. All I get from the phone calls I make is that they are working on it. They aren't, they just write it off because they can. In the meantime, I've had to refund this money to the buyer which has caused me even greater financial issues being that this was unexpected money coming out of my pocket, now I'm screwed.
What is the point of all these tracking labels and signature confirmations? This has hurt me terribly and I fear this has been stolen, or ended up in the mail recovery center. After I refunded the customer, I paid an additional $11.50 for a package interception in hopes that it's still floating around there somewhere and will make it back to me. I've lost a lot from this and the mental part of it is just as bad.

Three weeks later this package has not been delivered. I am not sure what to do now but I am certain next time I go with UPS or Fed Express.

Ok, this is my issue - this has NEVER EVER happened to me! I have not received any mail, not even JUNK, or coupons, or bills, or nothing. There was no mail on Monday, or Tuesday, or Wednesday... I just went to check my mailbox, and nothing AGAIN! I can see 1-2 days, but 4??? I am very concerned because I am expecting for some checks from my clients, so I can pay my bills!!! I went to the post office this afternoon and asked about my mail, the lady stated that there was a new driver on the route. Can he not sort the mail that belongs to my street and deliver it properly? This is totally UNACCEPTABLE!!!

For several months now our street has had a major issue of receiving mail that should be delivered to a neighbor. We have a community mail box that consists of 10 slots with each containing a clearly labeled street address. We are constantly getting each other's mail.
Credit card statements and mail order prescription medication is delivered to the incorrect person. The consequences are obvious. Try explaining to these companies that your statement never arrived or you did not received your medicine. Worse, don't expect them to believe you if this keeps reoccurring.
Two days in a row neighbors have hand-delivered our mistakenly delivered medications. Sometimes we are not this fortunate. We have sent complaints directly to USPS and complained in person to our local post office. Nothing has been done to correct the situation. Please advise how we can obtain help. Thank you.

Saying what happened is just so hurtful. As a British citizen, I had this mindset that customers service in a "number 1 country of the world" would be next to none but that was just a total illusion. I came to join my wife here in the states then applied for my residence. After sightseeing and love for my wife I decided to stay as I would be able to adapt as a Geologist. I applied for my residence and I was sent a receipt from immigration as a confirmation to my application. I got the three letter. To mine surprise I waited a long time to get the second batch of the letter for my biometrics, only to call immigration and they said the letter was sent back.
I called the local post office. They said that no evidence to prove I lived there. How stupid was that when I got the first three letters? I suffered almost a 2 months delay on immigration approval. After this whole fiasco, I was sent my employment letter and this was a priority mail which was picked up by the post as confirmed by immigration on Aug 19, 2014 to be delivered on Aug 21, 2014. But after Aug 20, 2014, nothing was updated on the system and that was the last anyone knew of it. The post office couldn't find it and created a case for it but after all said and done, it's been 8 days and I lost a job with a big oil firm. I hope this folks can do their jobs well and not just work for pay check. Customer service doesn't exist in USPS. They are totally useless.

I live in Cypress Commons Apartments in Houston, Tx. And I had ordered something from Amazon.com, it took me a week and a half to find out my package was stolen when I finally saw postman at our mailboxes. I told him I didn't get my package and they said it was delivered. He said "Oh I remember cause I put it in the big mailbox and left key in your mailbox and next day the key was still in your mailbox but the big one was empty so some one must have stolen it, so I took the key back. Thanks for telling me, it took me more than a week to put it together." He blamed apartment complex and I told the manager which she apologized but said she told him over and over to give packages to leasing office. Talked to postmaster and said she has to file a report so maybe I can get insurance value of $50, the package cost $80. The post office and staff are useless lazy and don't care. Can I file a grievance or something to get these people to care a little more about our mail?

I have an ongoing problem with my local mail carrier. Today and on a previous occasion he has refused to deliver a package. What he did today was particularly lazy. He actually sat there in his truck and instead of carrying my registered mail package to my door, knock, and wait for me to sign - he decided to leave a notice in the mailbox (No Authorized Recipient Available). Not true, since I was at home all day, more than wiling to provide the required signature. No knock or doorbell...I go outside and there is my mail in the mailbox - with the failed delivery notice.
On the previous occasion, about 6 months ago, it was winter and below 40 degrees outside. It was not quite freezing point but there was blowing wind and it was biting cold. I had a regular package that only required the carrier to leave the box at the door - no signing required. Instead of leaving his truck to deliver the package at my door - he only put my letters in the mailbox. No failed delivery notice, nothing. I went to check the tracking for my package online and it showed a failed delivery notice (?). Again, I was home all day long - no knock or doorbell. What a nice guy. It's either too cold for him or it's just one of those days and he would rather not walk...I really don't know. Or care. I just want him to follow the standard operating procedure for delivering a package to my door. Is it too much to expect someone to do their assigned job?

But we still aren't receiving mail sent directly to us at property B. Some of the people sending mail to our new address didn't even know about our old address. It's total nonsense and the manager of my local post office is unable to explain why this is happening.
They've asked me for the tracking number of the letter I didn't get. Well, the letters sent to us have just been ordinary letters; no tracking numbers associated with them. And if I had the letter in my hand, then I wouldn't need to contact the post office about not having my mail delivered... This is maddening and I don't know what to do about it. Multiple instances of "misdelivered" mail - more than likely mail theft. It would appear to be related to carrier or carrier manager. Examples occurring in the last 2 months include 2 occurrences of tracked packages of prescription medications documented as being delivered prior to carrier leaving hub (police reports filed on each). Multiple pieces of mail containing PHI or other identifiable information never delivered although junk mail was. Documents regarding social security disability never received, US Navy paperwork for dependent, health insurance questionnaire and so on. In addition other mail not belonging at this address is left here. Complaints to all levels of management were not received with concern for customer, instead we were asked could we have misplaced or forgotten or comments even more absurd. The management actually screaming at geriatric father. The running of facility is pathetic with mail for many just lost and only comment from staff is along the lines of "there's nothing I can do." I recently opened an ETSY store, where I sell hand-made pyrographed jewelry boxes and other one of a kind pieces of art. On August 12th, I mailed a package at 8:30am from the Montgomery, NY branch, to be delivered via Priority 1-day to Wappingers Falls, NY. This is only about a 20-25 minute drive to the next county. The package instead went to Jersey City, NJ and from there to New Windsor, NY (next town over from me). It has been sitting in New Windsor since Saturday Aug. 16th "Sorting complete, ready for delivery, today, Aug 16 at 9:02am", four business days later and it is still there. I have called three times for help. The first time, I spent 20 minutes trying to get past the automated service to a live person. The service hung up on me whatever I tried. Finally I figured out the secret password which is "File a complaint". Spoke to a woman who after reading me all the exact info that I was able to see when tracking my package, said she would e-mail the New Windsor branch and have an "investigator" try to find my package and I would receive a message by the end of business day next day. I specifically requested an e-mail, which she noted in the account.
I waited a day after that and received nothing. So I called again. I spoke with an Yvetta. She stated that nothing was noted in the account regarding my request for an e-mail, but that someone had called and said my package was rerouted to the wrong post office. I never received a call. She then told me everything I could see while tracking the package and then said she would transfer me to a Supervisor. I waited for about ten minutes, and then someone picked up and hung up the phone. So I called a third time. I spoke with a much more helpful and pleasant woman, who wondered at my Case # because it started with an HQ. She stated that most case numbers start with AC; and it looked like an international shipment. Literally, it was going ONE county over in the US of A. She then gave me all the same information as the last two, apologized profusely and then gave me the number for the USPS Consumer Affairs. Now I've called the C.A. and left a message but have not received anything back yet.
I wouldn't be so upset were this something factory manufactured; but these boxes were -hand-made-. I spent about 40 hours of my life creating something that can never be replicated. Even though there is insurance on the package to reimburse the customer who purchased the items, my time can never be recovered. Not to mention the time spent trying to track a package that I could have been hand delivered, had it not been purchased through my ETSY store. Oh, and if consumer affairs FINDS my package, I will happily drive to New Windsor, pick it up and hand deliver it to my customer. I'm tired of having angry messages from a customer because of someone else's mistake.

Apparently your scale miscalculated the weight of the package and, despite my telephone number being clearly displayed on the shipping document, it was returned to the Palm Beach Gardens Post Office and an attempt to deliver it to my home on the 19th. This is clearly an error on the part of the lobby device and not mine. Why was I not called and the discrepancy resolved in a timely fashion?
When I tried to explain the problem to the manager, she was defensive, rude, and ultimately affrontive and continuously interrupted me while I was attempting to explain the situation. She refused to recognize the stated contractual responsibility to refund my expenses however trivial the amount was. The notion that the USPS could abandon their promises based upon her whim is more than inappropriate and offensive. She also refused to provide the name of her official superior stating that she has no superior or anyone to whom she must answer. Is this how USPS employees are expected to behave and the quality of service that they are expected to provide?

My husband and I had to move several times within the last 12 months due to unfortunate circumstances. The first Change of Address seemed to go through fine and we were receiving everything like normal. About 2 months later, we had to move again and filed our COA online, only to find that the family members we had been staying with were no longer receiving their mail even though we filed our COA forms as individuals like we were supposed to. The USPS took it upon themselves to move the entire household.
Then, after several months of receiving only mail that was addressed to the place we were residing at the time but no forwarded mail, I decided to call both the post offices where we had been staying previously and the place we had just moved to... No one could supply me with an answer and made it seem like all was well and I was crazy for expecting mail. One of which (Linden, VA) was exceptionally rude and acted like I was wasting their time.
Fast forward to the place we are currently living at.... I had signed up for a Target debit card before our last move, which never showed up. I had assumed it was being sent to the wrong address so I called Target to get a replacement card and get the previous one cancelled... It turned out that I had set it up to be sent to the correct address. It was just marked as undeliverable by the post office and returned to the sender. About a week later, a letter from Target (addressed to our previous residence) magically showed up in the mail. And that is literally the last time we received anything forwarded... yet my mother (whom we were staying with previously) is still receiving our mail and we're having to pick it up from her ourselves.
I haven't the slightest idea how to fix this and it's extremely frustrating. Who knows what important documents haven't made it to me.

We've been using Amazon Prime for years and with the exception of the huge winter storm of December 2013 we had always experienced on time delivery from FedEx and UPS. Not sure exactly when it happened but at some point FedEx and UPS started working with the USPS and the USPS took over final delivery of many of FedEx and UPS's deliveries. Talk about trashing an on-time delivery schedule record, the USPS totally destroyed all of the previous good will and satisfaction.
All of our deliveries were on time according to the USPS tracking site. It's good to know their metrics meet their expectations. At least half of our deliveries did not make it on time despite being reported as delivered on time on the USPS tracking site. Of the half that didn't make it on time about half of those appeared a week or so later, not bad for government work right USPS? Of the 25% or so of missing packages a lot of them showed up within a month. Again, coming from the USPS if they were on-time according to their metrics do they really care if the rest of think they were late? I think they are all in now with the exception of one. Three months late seems the worst case of the packages that did eventually get delivered. The ones that are missing still, maybe they will show up and maybe they won't.

The package got to Texas, went out for delivery but my grandson moved but put a change of address in before package was sent. I had put old address. Killeen was sending it back to me. But that Post Office realized that there was a change in address so the request to have it sent back. It showed Dallas receive it again and sent it back to Killeen post office. Talk to someone on Aug 9, another Killeen post office. She looked everything up and said the package was at the other post office.
The phone # I called was busy. Always busy and that's a fact there is everyone on web sites that say it's always busy - over 87 times of trying. I called the bigger post office. I asked to speak to a manager. He told me I had to talk to the other manager at the post office that has the package. I told him I would if they would answer, it's always busy. My grandson said nothing was left. Next it was posted "Shipment Alert - There was a problem with your Shipment. See details below." That was only my tracking # time /Date 3:25P.m. There is a manager at my post office named ** who was present there back in Dec. 2005 when a mail carrier stole five of my packages and left the boxes torn open in the back of the carrier's truck. ** wanted to whitewash it and assign him to another route. The other managers were all assigned away from there, but from that day forth, ** has had a vendetta against me for reporting it to the Postmaster General. First, he assigned the carrier's best friend to my route to harass me another five years with major delivery issues. Even now things are scanned out for delivery that are not, and things are not scanned as out for delivery that are.
Even contacting the postmaster's boss does not always resolve issues and I am on a voice recognition basis with this man's secretary. I've had so many issues with the Walnut Creek, CA post office on N. Broadway. It is not fair to deliberately delay packages marked as out for delivery. They also deliberately delay any SurePost or SmartPost packages "to make the initiating carrier look bad" but they fail to realize it makes USPS look bad because people can see the initiating carrier was efficient up to the handoff to USPS. I think ** should be FIRED as he is tampering with the delivery of mail. He has bragged to me on the phone he likes to delay SurePost and SmartPost, and he needs to get gone. Whoever scans their mail packages needs to be taught how to correctly and reliably use the scanner.
My carrier ** is very good when she is on the job. She gets six weeks a year vacation and takes multiple months of medical leave so I constantly have substitutes who are incompetent. When ** went back with her truck FULL due to back pain, nobody delivered the mail that day... They overstuffed it the next day and the substitute did not deliver things he should have. Why couldn't a supervisor have gotten in the cart and done the route instead of sitting at a desk? PEOPLE NEED THEIR MAIL.
I do not understand wanting to work with CORRUPT managers like ** who have proven they don't care about doing the job they are paid to do. Even **'s office, which flagged my account to get more efficient service, has not been able to do what they promised... I have to call them at least once a week on the average to FORCE delivery of something being withheld from me by the Walnut Creek, CA post office. Sometimes I must file formal theft complaints through USPS to force the delivery of my mail. They also make FAKE attempted delivery scans on days when I have been home watching for them and NO delivery was attempted. Since I called them on that, that sort of thing is happening LESS. ** has at least told them if that continues, they will have problems.
CLEAN UP THE POST OFFICE. If they want to be in the black, they need to deliver things in a timely fashion in order to be competitive in the package delivery market. Suppressing packages they are required to deliver by Congress through SurePost and SmartPost is mail tampering and possible mail theft. That needs to stop, too. The only way SurePost gets to me reliably is if I pay UPS out of my pocket to avoid the post office.

I am unable to reach this post office after numerous hours waiting for anybody to pick up the phone. This has occurred throughout the past 10yrs when I have had issues with The Postal Service. TO DATE THEY HAVE NEVER ANSWERED THE PHONE. In addition, the services I pay for have caused me to leave work to drop off my mail. I have asked to speak with the Supervisor "Ruben" who has informed me that this issue would be addressed and that it won't happen again. To date it continues to happen and has cost us close to $1,000 in increased fees and losses for the business I am in.
I have asked to have the POSTMASTER ** call me. I requested this at the Whittwood Post Office where I sometimes have to drop off my mail. To date the Postmaster ** has failed to call make or address the problems. My local post office confirmed he discussed this issue with ** himself. I need some help getting this Postmaster to address the issues for the services I pay a nice premium for which is an average of $120 per day, 6 days per week.

I'm really outraged right now, simply because out of the thousand times I have ordered something on online from overseas or from anywhere else in the United States, I have not really had a real problem with lost/stolen packages through USPS... This is why I'm convinced that something is wrong... I had two separate shipments coming from the same city in China, but I ordered them between 7 to 10 days apart. The second shipment was stuck in Jamaica, Ny sorting facility for three days, August 3rd 2014 and the shipment that I ordered 7 to 10 days earlier, tracking updated that it departed the sorting facility in Flushing, Ny on July 31st 2014. Now that package has not moved for 6 days. So, I contacted Customer Service On August 5th inquiring about both shipments got a case number for them.
Checked back later that evening, the one from Jamaica, Ny moved and it made all the way to my house for delivery on August 7th 2014, but the earlier shipment that departed from Flushing, Ny on 7/31 has not moved at all, no updates whatsoever. Spoke with a rep at The Flushing, Ny office, on 8/7 she stated that it has already left their facility on 7/31 like the tracking site stated... Should have been at an Atlanta Sorting Facility by now... which it probably was, but I think it's either been lost or stolen when it arrived in Atlanta. And I think that these Customer Service Representatives that we talk to about our lost/stolen packages or mail already know what's going. They are well aware of the theft that some postal workers commit. But they wont divulge that because that would admitting fault. That's why they disarm you with all that niceness to calm you down, already knowing that 9 times out of 10 that you've been jacked by a "Postal - Thief"...

I own a property management company in Scranton, Pennsylvania managing rental housing, collecting rents monthly via the Postal Service. They just closed a processing plant here in Scranton and now the processing plant has moved to Lehigh Valley two hours away. Since doing so right used to be sent to me by the mail and I would have the next day, and now since it has moved it takes anywhere from 9 to 14 days. I used to have tenants lease used to once in a while say their rent got lost in the mail as an excuse. However, it has turned out to be accurate lately. On average I'm having about five checks being lost monthly sent in the mail via standard shipping.

A friend of mine went to Florida on vacation and bought me some souvenirs. She got me fairly light things (they fit and send in an envelope) and when it got to me, it said "damaged in handling in the postal service." It was obviously opened by someone from the USPS office and they just used some lame stamp to try to pull it off! My friend had purchased a necklace with sand in a small glass locket type thing which she brought up, may look like cocaine. We realized it looked risky but it was just sand. Some bum mailman must have thought they hit the jackpot but actually ended up stealing gifts from a teenage girl. I got nothing. What is shown in the picture is what came to me. I got a picture before I opened it, so it'd be clear that I haven't tampered with it. Also, if someone else had stolen it, they wouldn't have had the tools or resources to mail it to me in that manner. This has been a complete disappointment and I'm very upset that they can just get away with this. It's total crap! I need something more than a phony excuse. What a shame this is. I absolutely despise USPS services.

On June 12th, 2014, I sent a priority package from Highlands Ranch, CO to Knoxville, TN from the Highlands Ranch post office located at 9609 S University Blvd. The package was properly addressed and included a return address. The package was never received in TN and was never returned either. We had just moved to CO at the time and in the chaos of moving, the tracking number got thrown out with papers and boxes. I contacted the post office and was told that a man named ** could look through the transactions of that day and could locate the tracking number. I called several times before reaching Mr. ** and gave him my information. He told me he would look into it and call me back.
I never received a call. I've called at least 5-6 times since then and have been told the same thing - "I'll look into it and call you back" and still have not received any information. In addition, we are having major issues receiving our mail at our new address. This is not a matter of having problems receiving mail that has been forwarded from our old address... This is an issue receiving mail that is addressed to our new address. Half of the mail we get and half of the mail is returned to its sender as "undeliverable/unable to forward". I have verified the address with each sender and the address is written correctly and does include our unit number. I've called three times about the issue and get the same response: "We'll talk to the carrier and call you back". However no one ever does.
For some reason I am unable to receive any help from this post office location and I am at a loss as to what to do. I need to know what I need to do about finding out about my priority package and we need to be able to receive our mail and receive an explanation as to why we are not. I did make an effort to reach the postmaster. I was told her name is Sharon Hill. Every time I have called to speak with her, I'm told that she is unavailable or in meetings. I've asked to leave a message on her voicemail but no one will ever transfer me and tells me that no one listens to their messages anyway.

It all began in early June when I decided to sell back some old text books to make some extra cash, being a poor graduate student and all. I was thrilled at the estimated $184 I would be getting for 5 text books. I packaged them up, dropped them off at my local postal service and decided to ship the package in the most economical way (priority) possible. I never had a problem shipping things this way and didn't think I had anything to worry about when the cashiers didn't advise me to ship the package otherwise.
About two weeks later, I received my shipping label in an envelope from USPS with an apology letter written on the back, basically stating that they handle over a billion pieces of mail on the reg and that they are sorry my package is MIA. Nothing was checked off indicating what the deal was (lost, destroyed, etc). This was only the start to my issues, and even if this problem gets resolved and my package is delivered and I receive my money, I will never ever be using USPS to handle my shipping needs due to their sad excuse for customer service. Seriously, the entire customer service department can kiss my **.
It is now early August and no one knows where my package is. A 17 pound package being shipped from NJ to OH, and no one has any idea why it hasn't picked up a scan in over two months. And of course, because of the way I shipped this package, attempting to save the earth and all, I can't file a claim on it. I have three different case numbers for this incident because every time I call USPS, they assure me that they are so sorry for my last experience and that this time will be different.
Every time it's the same thing, sometimes worse - the last case number issued to me was due to the fact that the dumb ** who gave me the second case number never included the tracking number in her report. Also, I am always reassured that I will be hearing from either them or the consumer affairs department within 3 days of my call and that never happens. No follow up, no sense or urgency, no regard for anything.
I call consumer affairs and the woman directs me to the NJ office, but not before telling me that I should have received a letter from my local post office. I ended up getting the letter that day, that was less than helpful and gave no indication as to what the ** was going on with this 17-lb package that was sent out OVER TWO MONTHS AGO and was basically a half-** apology letter for my pain and suffering, but they couldn't even get my name spelled correctly. You can at least get that right, Karen ** from consumer affairs. To top it all off, every time I call the NJ office, no one picks up. I've left message after message and not one returned phone call.
I realize that $184 is not a lot of money for some people, but for someone like me - a graduate student living with her parents with very little money to her name and will be in debt for the next 30+ years - it means saving money on a miscellaneous bill, textbook costs, etc. Not only that, had I known that this debacle would happen, I wouldn't have thought twice to sell those text books as they are valuable and I could have been using them for research and other educational purposes. Of course I want my money, but to think that those text books are scattered all over a highway somewhere in Ohio really makes me furious.
It is safe to say that this awful, emotionally draining experience totally outweighs any mediocre experience I've had with USPS and I will never be using them again, for any piece of mail.

This time not only did I not receive a paper delivery notice, my package was not at the rental office or the post office. No one knows where my package is. My main issue with my rental office is they have no way to verify if the package was left or not since there is no process in place for post office deliveries. Two years ago I was approved by the post master for home delivery for delivery and pick up of outgoing mail due to being home bound with M.S. and 73 years old. I have had this same service for the past 24 years in both Denver and another Mesa location without any problems. However, this station manager has decided that mail carriers will not pickup outgoing mail unless they have mail to deliver. I have gone without mail service for 8 days and on a weekly basis it's at least 2 or 3 days. I had an important personal letter from my congresswoman recently that sat in the post office for two days before finally being delivered. Netflix sends DVD's that are not delivered for days at a time. As of now one was due to be delivered three days ago, according to Netflix, and I still have not received it. My congresswoman had been working on this problem to no avail at this point.
This particular station manager seems to be well known among her peers and not in a pleasant manner. When I moved to this location two years ago I called my current post office and talked with the post master's lovely assistant who gave me the information and added that I shouldn't call my soon to be new post master (for home delivery approval) prior to 11:00 or 11:30 AM. When I asked why she indicated that she wasn't a very pleasant person especially in the mornings. As it turned out she was absolutely correct. If approved home mail delivery does not include mail carriers picking up outgoing mail then how do I mail my outgoing mail? And on what days should I put any outgoing mail out to be picked up by the carrier on the days he decides to deliver mail?
As time has proven home mail delivery is decided by the carrier if and when he decides to deliver it. As it has sat in the post office without being delivered for days even when he has it to deliver but he refuses. Not the regular carrier nor the ones delivering mail when the regular carrier is off. And the post mistress approves of this lack of service. Whatever happened to the old 'rain, sleet or snow?' And the post office wonders why they're losing money?

I've been in the military for almost 7 years and know how to prepare when I get called to leave for long period of time. I will not have an address for 4 months starting tomorrow. Being that I am a Jr. my relative would have a hard time having my mail forwarded to their home. It's happened before and all our mail got mixed up and caused a lot of problems. USPS has an option to get a P.O. Box online but says you have to go to that local office and show two forms of ID after doing their process online. So what's the point? Either way I will be gone and was wondering if a relative could show up tomorrow at their local office with a copy of MY identifying documentation. I called the number listed online for customer service. The automated system does everything to avoid you speaking to a representative. I was on hold for 25 minutes when a rude agent finally answered.
She kept trying to deter me to go online or call the local USPS. Hello the answer isn't online and the local office is closed. It took me telling her my info. more than five times just make the call 40 minutes with no resolute. She said she didn't have a way of looking to see if that was possible. So I asked her to put my mail on hold until I can speak to the local office tomorrow. Well, she was impatient and tried deterring me from that also. She said it's only for 30 days that I had to understand they couldn't just hold all my mail all year. That irritated me. Common sense says if I left my mail sit that long I probably wouldn't care enough to be calling about it.
My family has to support me in leaving so quickly and it's difficult for them to have to pick up slack when I'm gone. I want to help them do as little possible without hassle. She finally understood I wasn't get off the phone without help. She again asked for my information and said her system was slow. She asked if I was there more time passed and she sounded very frustrated. Then she said it just wasn't loading and hung up on me!!! The service to this customer was not given. Shame on them for blowing off the money of a customer. I wasted 47 minutes, might as well sit here and complain about it to round up to 50 minutes.

It's a disgrace that the people of America have to put up with this bad service. Also their tracking numbers don't work half the time. If a mail carrier works 2 routes and updates the scanner with the zip code for one of the routes, then your package shows up as being delivered somewhere else. Rules and regulations are created by Congress for order, equality and fairness for all citizens of the United States of America. An act of Congress created the United States Postal Service (USPS) many years ago.
From the Federal Register/Vol 76, No. 135/rules and regulations: Mailing Standards of the USPS - Group E Post office box service 4.6.2 Free PO Box Service. Customers may qualify for Group E PO Box service at a Post Office if their physical address meets all the following criteria: a. The physical address is within the geographic delivery ZIP Code boundaries administered by a Post Office. b. The physical address constitutes a potential carrier delivery point of service c. USPS does not provide carrier delivery to a mail receptacle at or near a physical address for reasons in 4.6.3b.
I believe I meet all of these criteria. I asked the USPS, numerous times, to provide free PO Box service at my McEwensville Post Office, at my legal, physical location of ** McEwensville, PA 17749. The USPS has refused my request and denied providing me with a reason why I do not qualify for Group E Post Office box service. Their only response is you must change your address to Watsontown for free delivery service. My mail has been confiscated by the USPS and returned to sender. I currently have no mail delivery.
In Feb 2014, I wrote letter to Robert ** in Harrisburg USPS requesting free post office service. A copy of this letter was sent to Senator Toomey. We never received a written response from **. Our response from Sen Toomey was verbal comments from **, but with no explanation of why we are not entitled to a free post office box at our address as detailed in the qualifications for Group E Post Office Box service. It should be noted that nowhere in those criteria does it say anything about changing the mailing address as Mr. ** keeps suggesting. I had several phone conversations with ** reinforcing my belief in the right to a free PO box for my address. He said he would try to find a solution. I repeatedly said I would not change my address to a place where I did not live, as I pay my taxes in McEwesville, vote in McEwensville and live in McEwensville which is serviced by the McEwensville post office. Several calls were made to **; he would not provide explanation of rules and regulations.
In a visit to the McEwensville USPS on May 16, 2014, the Postmaster told me my mail delivery was discontinued. Again, I called **, asked for written response on why I did not qualify for Box E free box, and he said he would not provide a written response. I told him we were entitled to a written notification of service termination so we could appeal, and had 20 days for appeal so as not to lose mail delivery. He refused to say why we were NOT notified per regulations. May 17 we filled out Form 1093 for a post office box (see attachment A). USPS staff in McEwensville post office would not complete the form. I believe if they would complete it honestly, in Section 12-Eligibility for Carrier Delivery, they would have to check (d. None). Having no carrier delivery would entitle us to a free Post Office box. As I have been stating, there is NO form of carrier delivery in McEwensville zip code area.
May 19, Letter placed at McEwensville post office asking for response (see attachment B). May 22, had postmaster of McEwensville sign appeal for which we initiated, including date service discontinued (see attachment C). She reported that date was May 8. Again no notification until May 22. May 23, I asked USPS McEwensville to create documentation of date of service discontinuation. Postmaster told me she could not talk to me regarding this subject and I would need to contact the supervising post office in Watsontown and I would need to go there for questions. I told her I would not go there but would call, and she provided me with the number of a Michael ** in the Watsontown post office. I called/asked him why we did not qualify for Box E service; he said he couldn't answer that. I asked if he was **'s supervisor and he said no. I told him I needed someone who could answer the questions regarding Group E service and the appeal process. He offered to arrange a date to sit down and discuss.
I told him a phone call from someone in the USPS who could provide the written answer was sufficient, and that I did not need a sit down meeting. When I was insistent that I expected an answer to these two questions regarding Group E service and the appeal process, he told me the conversation was over and hung up the phone. As of today I have NOT received that phone call. I also contacted Sen. Toomey on May 27, 2014 and received a response through him from the USPS that we cannot appeal, no rules apply, and we still are not entitled to receive our mail. I'll ask that you get that response through your internal sources.
Meanwhile I have no mail service. I do not receive mail correspondence from the state of Pennsylvania (vehicle registration, professional licenses, etc.) and county (tax notices, jury duty notifications, etc.) or physician offices (test results, etc.), and correspondence from financial institutions. All other paid subscriptions have also be returned to sender. I believe that is illegal since they never properly notified me of mail confiscation or allowed an appeal process to be initiated. That appeal process is part of 39 CFR 958. Additionally we have canvassed the service area of the McEwensville Post Office and have identified 31 random mail boxes of McEwensville residents receiving rural delivery from Watsontown (Zip 17777) carrier. That is 20 % of the McEwensville households.
Researching rules and problems with zip codes, I found information that suggests carrier routes should never cross a zip code. Each carrier route is explicitly defined as a part of a single Zip Code, and so by definition, it cannot cross Zip Code boundaries. Additionally in a research report created for US Congress in June of 2006, entitled Changing Postal ZIP Code Boundaries, it stated that municipal officials should be consulted before municipal boundaries will be crossed. I do not believe this ever occurred with officials of the McEwensville Borough.
I firmly believe federal regulations are created to provide fair, equitable rules, and to avoid discrimination toward groups or individuals. We ask that our dispute/appeal be forwarded to the Judicial Officer of the US Postal Service pursuant to the Postal Operations manual. This appeal process if detailed in Part 965-Rules of Practice in Proceedings Relative to Mail disputes. We ask that our dispute/appeal be reviewed by the Judicial Officer of the US Postal Service pursuant to Postal Operations Manual, section 616.21. We continue to reside at our legal address of ** McEwensville, PA 17749. Please be advised that all decisions must be sent to our email address as the USPS currently refuses to deliver mail to our legal mailing address. I expect a written explanation of these concerns, and a detailed response. Thank you for your consideration and attention in this matter.

Like SO MANY others, I mailed something and insured it. It never arrived so filed a claim only to find that they said it was delivered. I guess everyone knows now that the post office can just scan the item then stick it in their "to take home" box and it will be registered as DELIVERED. Only if you add on the signature required cost can you prove who signed for it. After raising my claim to the highest level, I was still rejected for being compensated. At that point, I said I would NEVER use them to deliver anything timely or important again.
Well, in a rush, I did. Used Priority Mail Express. System says it was delivered the next day at 11:53am. But guess what??? It's not there (surprise!). The signature was waived on the form. Not sure why, I guess I missed that part. A VERY IMPORTANT part. If there is no signature required in any way - THE POST OFFICE VIEWS THIS IS A NOTICE THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TO DELIVER AT ALL. THEY CAN TRASH IT OR TAKE IT HOME. THIS HELPS THEM TO NOT MAKE STOPS AND TRY TO GET RID OF ALL THEIR MAIL SO THEY CAN GO HOME.
The IRS does it too, all these sorry gov't agencies do this sort of crap. Private sector businesses could never get away with anything like this. Go ahead and cast your vote for the next Democratic president so you can have MORE of your life dictated and ruled by the government. Get ready to have a LOT of frustration with all of your medical care now. Way to go, America.

Thinking that in United State post office because it's a Federal Institution nothing couldn't be lost, I sent it in standard mail. I put plenty stamp and the mail was going to the Bronx, New York. It only takes 3 or 4 days to be delivered. The mail never went out. It have not been deliver. Several time I went to the post office in Powder Spring, I spoke to 2 supervisor ** and ** and they said without tracking number there is nothing we can do. It was ripped down to side near bottom. Contents hanging out. It was unprofessional, and up setting. I work in a very very large PR dept very familiar with having a frustrating job, yet I would never treat my customer/clients as if their personal property or complaints didn't matter.

Sent a two-volume set of very rare graduate-level books to a customer from CO to FL via media mail. I sell about 20 books per month and haven't had problems doing this in about 5 years. Out of nowhere, they're starting to lose packages. I didn't buy insurance on this set (worth over $100 - stupid by my own admission), but then again, the chances of losing packages in the past was slim to none. I also ordered a set of books from NASA headquarters, and six weeks later, still nothing. Also didn't receive several letters, one of which contained a $50 gift card for my son, the other was my vehicle registration sticker. Now I'm at risk for getting a ticket. I know USPS is facing bankruptcy, but that's no excuse if it's going to maintain ongoing operations while it undergoes restructuring. Now I pay more (eating into my profits) for tracking, confirmation, and insurance.

A parcel was sent to me as Priority Express but I was not home to sign. Slip was left on Wed, July 2. NO PICKUP BY DATE WAS WRITTEN IN BOX. It was not going to be possible to leave work and be home to sign for the package, so I planned on picking it up at the Post Office. July 2 - Wed: 1st delivery attempt. Incomplete slip left. July 3 - Thu: Not able to get to the PO by closing. July 4 - FRI: CLOSED FOR THE HOLIDAY. July 5 - Sat: Limited Hours - Unable to get there (holiday weekend). July 6 - SUN: CLOSED ON SUNDAY. July 7 - Mon: Unable to get there by closing. July 8 - Tue: WENT TO PICKUP. THEY RETURNED TO SENDER ON MON, JULY 7 (FOUR DAYS). NO ATTEMPT TO DELIVER (or leave a completed notice) was made after first attempt on July 2.
The Post Office was CLOSED FOR TWO OUT OF THE SIX DAYS FROM THE FIRST DELIVERY ATTEMPT. I did not count the days CLOSED as business days since I have no opportunity to pick up parcel. Therefore, I had Thursday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday to pick the parcel up within FIVE days before the "return to sender" policy COULD have been initiated AFTER CLOSING ON WEDNESDAY. JULY 9. (I did not count the first day attempt, July 2, because I had no idea a signature was required & neither did the sender and the parcel was not at the post office because the carrier had it all day.
I believe the USPS in Glen Ellyn, IL returned my parcel too soon. There is no doubt the carrier was negligent in COMPLETING THE FORM left with my mail so I had no idea about a time limit to pickup... and it was a HOLIDAY weekend. The clerks had NO CLEAR knowledge of the "RETURN TO SENDER POLICY" nor could they provide me with documentation of this policy. I contacted the USPS Consumer Service Representative (Villa Park, IL) and was told that DAYS CLOSED ARE NOT COUNTED IN THE FIVE DAY HOLD PERIOD. The Glen Ellyn IL post office RETURNED my parcel before the appropriate hold time was up. At this time, an order was created to try and stop the parcel wherever it was and return it to Glen Ellyn to be HELD FOR ME TO PICK UP.
I THEN called the GE post office and a clerk told me FIFTEEN DAYS hold policy and the days closed ARE "still counted in the formula." There was no postmaster on duty (they were on vacation for a week). When I asked for a hard copy of the policy, he could not provide one and proceeded to find THE INFORMATION BY ASKING THE OTHER CLERKS. It appears the GLEN ELLYN, IL post office has NO available policy for staff OR public to reference; No available postmaster to guide the service; No knowledge of rules and regulations allowing the job they have to be accurately executed.
*I was told by "John **" at the Glen Ellyn post office I would get a call back on Wednesday, July 9, about my parcel and a copy of the policy they followed regarding RETURNED TO SENDER. It is now Friday, July 11, and I received no call. Any help would be appreciated. The staff and the lack of training, job skills, communication and customer service is in a broken state and doomed to fail the public as it stands now.

The categories do not fit my issues. I have been informed by numerous entities that my mail is being returned as address undeliverable. Citibank sends me a check every month and the bank has been returning them. The same is occurring at my mothers' address, and we are speculating that this is a personal vendetta taken against us because we are filing reports concerning mail theft, vandalized mail, undelivered mail, and mail tampering. We have contacted consumer's affairs, notified the postal inspectors, and so forth. No one seemed to take our complaint seriously.
On June 21, 2014 a manager or supervisor at the Triborough Station named Mr. **, I believe that is how he spells it, informed the regular mail carrier that my mother and I are constantly accusing her of the above allegations of occurrences. Mrs. ** has never been the object of complaint. The complaint created by Mr. ** CA (**) specifically stated that it was not the regular mail carrier. Mr. ** purposely caused this matter to escalate to intimidate my mother and I into ceasing our complaints. It is evident that Mr. ** did not comprehend what was written or decided to misuse the complaint to his advantage. When I inquired about the contents of the complaint he stated, "I don't know what it said exactly, but I know you were complaining about the mail and the mail carrier not delivering your mail."
He confessed that he had deleted the complaint and pretended to know exactly what I had stated. None of what he stated was accurately correct. I specifically stated to a postal manager or supervisor prior to this incident that Mrs. ** has been a wonderful worker and we have never had trouble with our mail while she was delivering our mail. Mrs. ** has been out for a year due to medical reasons. Complaints have been submitted after her leave. The mail carrier at ** I suspect is tampering with my mail. Mrs. ** arrived to our location with the intentions to confront us hostilely and aggressively. My mother went to receive her thinking that she has a package for us and that she needed a signature.
However, to her surprise Mrs. ** at the Triborough Station began to argue with her in the public eye screaming and hollering nonsense about complaints submitted against her. My mother explained that she was wrong and that we never filed a complaint against her. She ignored this information and continued to harass my mother aggressively. Before and after the altercation, she resorted to defaming our character with neighbors who we've known for 29 years. She began to say that I was bipolar and that I always have issues with my mail. We have never reported that Mrs. ** has been seen intoxicated by illegal drugs. My husband is a witness as to how he has seen her purchasing marijuana from the local area. We are reporting this now because of the nature in which she responded toward us. She may very well be demonstrating this aggression under the influence of illegal substances.
I would like to take legal action against the USPS, Postal Inspectors, and employees at the Triborough Station. Because I have complained and challenged the illegal activities occurring at this post office, they have responded with aggression and hostility to silence me and coerce me into ceasing my right to exercise my rights to report. We are disabled and it is utterly discriminatory for a civil service worker to behave toward a client in such a manner. We no longer feel safe in our residence and fear that Mrs. **'s aggression and hostility may escalate against us.

My local post office sent people to my house 3 times in one day to harass different members of my family about a packaged that they think they have delivered to us by mistake. First of all, we do not have the package and my family members told them that. But they insist that their carrier said he delivered it to our property and someone signed for it. I tried calling them and talking to the delivery supervisor and he was first off very rude and insisted that we have the package somewhere in our house. I told him that if you have a sign document then just show us who signed for it because both my husband and I did not signed for it. I told him the only person that might sign was my mother, but they have asked her twice and we asked her and she said no. He started insisting that we have it and I told him then show me the prove and I will provide him with IDs from my family with their signatures for him to compare. He then stated that the signature was not legible, then I told him then what can I say, we don't have it. He then wanted to search my house. Can you believe it, my local post office want to come to my house and search based on no proof of wrong doing whatsoever on our part. They can't even provide me with a proof of a signature.
What the hell is this world coming to when your local USPS worker thinks that they can just search your house. I told him to go ahead and come to my house when I am at home and I will deal with him. This guy is just a bully that thinks he can pick on a minority family and gets away with it. He is messing with the wrong person. I have never been this upset. The USPS have lost multiple packages from me and has also delivered lots of packages to my house that does not belong to us and every time, I have walk the packages to my neighbors and returned it to them. I am disappointed in them. Good thing I don't do much business with them anymore because they lost my packages, but now I will tell my friends not to use them just based on their service. Maybe they should shut down so some of these employee can wake up and smell the reality and not be so rude to those who pay for their salary.

After purchasing something from Amazon.com, I paid for first class shipping with tracking. When I tracked my parcel, it was posted as being delivered to me. It was not. This has happened 4 or 5 times this year but this is the first package where I'm getting nowhere trying to recover it. The tracking record indicates it was mailed to Orlando from Miami. I live in Orlando about a mile from the main downtown PO. The next post states it arrived in St. Augustine. Then it was posted as being out for delivery in St. Augustine where it miraculously is delivered to my apartment in Orlando.
When I tried to claim this online, there is no provision for reporting a package the PO says you got when you didn't. I tried, theft, the "bad apple" site and I don't know what all. While I was waiting for their response I went to the PO and told them my story and they looked up the tracking number. The first PO I went to said it was the Sorting station error and gave me the phone number for the sorting station. I called for two days and nobody answered and there is no provision to leave a message. Next came two email responses. One said that wasn't their department and gave me another web page which I'd already tried. Although I'm 71 years old and don't have a car, I took a bus to the main downtown Orlando PO and gave them my documentation. They looked up the tracking and said something like "Well it (my parcel) couldn't be in two places at once". I asked them if they had any kind of a form I could fill out or make a claim because the sorting station wouldn't answer their phone. They said they didn't have any paper work for that.
Next came an answer from a PO web link that actually assigned a case number but still left the investigation and all actions up to me. They sent me the same telephone number I'd been trying to call and advised me to go the PO. They sent me a link of the closest POs but, of course, I'd already been there.Where this leaves me is a complete lack of faith in the PO ability to deliver parcels safely and to make good on missing parcels. If they are going to falsify tracking and delivery records, what recourse do we have?

Ordered an item from a company based in Oregon. They supplied me with a tracking number for the "first class" package that was being sent to me. Not sure if you caught it but when I searched on the 26th it showed that it had been processed at the Des Moines facility and departed. It doesn't show an arrival scan at my local office. It never arrived on the 26th. So I checked this morning and it had again been processed through the Des Moines facility. Guess what? No arrival scan at my local post office. No delivery made. I called their 800 "customer service" number. The lady made a huge mistake when she said to me that the first process scan was a "system generated scan." Now what did that mean. I'll tell you, that means their system created a bogus scan entry and that they didn't have the item as clearly show since it was "processed" again. Note that it shows it left Des Moines. Also note that it appears that it left before being processed.
This is because the information has been changed by their system. When I started to complain about this the call "mysteriously" disconnected. Called a second time and asked if this is how they handle complaints. "Oh no sir. We certainly do not." I asked for the local post office phone number. Contacted them and half way through my complaint the guy acts like he can't hear me by saying "hello, hello." Then guess what...that's right, disconnected again. Called back and said, "so this is how we deal with delivery issues?" "Oh no sir, I'm not sure what happened." He took down all the information and said he'd call back. Here it is the end of the day and guess what, no call. This happened one other time with a package that was "first class" package with tracking. I can tell them why they are losing money....that are proving time and time again how unreliable they are with packages handling. I have alerted the company that I purchased from of the situation. Hopefully they will no longer use USPS for package shipments.

I had sent a Registered Mail package to Canada on June 16th, 2014 by visiting the local post office. The mail is going from Edmonton, PA to Ottawa, Canada. I spent $16.36 on this envelope. On June 19th, 2014, the mail had only reached the NY sort facility and today being June 25th is still at ISC New York. Of course, the USPS blames customs for this. This reeks of incompetence at the USPS. FedEx and UPS guarantee a 2-day delivery at the same price. I cannot understand why it's difficult to get a simple document over the border to Canada.

Wow, so I paid for express overnight delivery. I tracked the package for 2 days. Finally, online it said package delivered but I never got it. So I'm being told my package was delivered. The kicker is... no one knows who the hell they delivered it to, so apparently they don't even look for the person whose mail it actually is. If you live in an apartment building like me, they just give it to the first person they see. Absolutely ridiculous. This should never ever ever happen and I plan on making as big a deal of this as I possibly can. I'm pissed!!! I wish everyone would just use FedEx. Never had a problem with them.

Every time I try to receive a package from Mail, I have a hard time receiving it. One time two boxes were left on top of my trashcan which was to be picked up that day from the trash removal company for my packages went to. And the post office tells me there's nothing they can do about it. Recently I've spoken with the postmaster. He said he's got it fixed with the postal delivery person - it's still not fixed. I've made several complaints and still nothing is fixed. I follow all of my tracking numbers, find out where things are at and it will say delivered but not delivered to me. I almost believe the lady is keeping the packages, or being just spiteful because I have complained.
Something needs to be done if this woman is incompetent in delivering the mail. This is the case why is she still delivering people's mail. She scans packages at the post office to say they could not be delivered to leave them there so she doesn't have to worry about getting out of her vehicle and delivering the mail. I am past the point of complaining anymore. I need some help!!!!

We sell horse cookies from Georgia. Over the last few months, we have had 3 packages not reach their destination. USPS tracking for priority mail shows all packages scanned IN to the Clarkesville, GA P.O., but that's it. The odd thing is that 2 of the 3 packages were going to the same horse rescue in TN. When asked for an explanation, they continue to say it was lost in the Gainesville ,GA distribution center. I am not buying that since they would have scanned the package when it left Clarkesville. I am wondering if the aroma of the cookies is setting off some kind of drug sniff test and they are disassembling the package, but not admitting to it. We use Fenugreek, Peppermint, and Licorice as a flavoring, and maybe they think the overwhelming scent is covering something up??
At any rate, it is a business killer for sure.

USPS couldn't care less, they fill out something 2 weeks later. I check back, same story. On June 12th, I sent another package to replace the contents of the first (missing) one. This went Priority Mail Express international. Guess what, tracking ceases at ISC SF. Nobody knows where it is now! All I get is the runaround from USPS.

He then told me that my package never left the US, it is still in Miami after 1 month from the day I mailed it. 1 month and a half later, the package got to Vietnam and then I have to pay another 60$ just to get my freaking package from the Vietnam USPS. I make jewelry and sell online, so send out packages daily using stamps.com to print out a label with tracking. Many times through the past 2 years, some people haven't got their package, and even after complaining, I didn't get nowhere, and had to resend their packages. And then when it happened again, I went to the Post office here in Sacramento, and complained, telling the post man I'm resending a package, and Make sure it is tracked. He tells me he worked in the post office over 34 years, and made an excuse that probably it was my mistake that sometimes the label could not be tracked, and that they don't have the manpower to type in the tracking code. And that if I put them in the outside Mail box, many times packages won't be tracked either! This is ridiculous! So like it's always my fault? I even have all these thick different vivid colored envelopes, and a nicely large printed label, and everyone knows what my packages look like!
BUT THIS TIME HAS BEEN MORE RIDICULOUS! Other people email me, saying they didn't get their packages either, and On June 3rd, 2013 I mailed 7 packages and already 3 people emailed me saying they never got them, so I had to resend out 3 so far. I then investigated these packages I mailed out which I remember bringing them into the post Office, and Noticed that all 7 packages were NEVER even tracked!! Someone is stealing them, or tossing them, and Not caring at all! They are NOT BEING MAILED! Two events: 1. Failure to deliver Christmas mail - Partially my fault as I attached insufficient postage but I cannot fathom why they took three months to reject the thing and send it back to me. 2: Long Standing Prevarication by USPS: Untruthful delivery status. For a number of years, the USPS has represented to senders and on internet tracking systems that they have either delivered a package or made an attempt to deliver and left notice. This claim is made absent any attempt, any written notice or any delivery.
Usually the package will be delivered several days later at the convenience of USPS. For example: "As per tracking your order was attempted to be delivered on 6/13/2014 by your local post office and a delivery notice was left. Please contact your local post office, the USPS ID number of your order is **." Nothing in the above statement is true. Later, the USPS tracking system said that the package was delivered to **. This was not true either.
This usually happens when a vendor sends out an item for reduced rate or shipping-free and foolishly directs the private common carrier to give the package over to USPS in the destination city. Several years ago, I ordered an item from China and the seller received a notice from USPS that there had been a delivery failure and the package would be returned to them after two more attempts. The Chinese seller became very upset and flew off the handle. Actually, the postal service made its first and successful attempt to deliver a few days later.
Understanding the need to fabricate information to conceal incompetence and document performance standards, and understanding that government agencies, putting forth purposeful deception are not lying but rather following protocol, it would still be better if the USPS would at least make an effort to perform their tasks in a workmanlike manner.

Beware of sending mail thru the US Postal Service. They have a racket going on with their mail recovery center in Atlanta GA. If you have mail missing and it's never been recovered, it's because it was sent to the mail recovery center in Atlanta GA where it gets processed to be auctioned off on their online auction. I know this for a fact because I have a online store on amazon and sent a shipment to a customer in NC. It made it to Greensboro NC where it was rifled thru by a postal employee at the network distribution center and I am pretty sure the person who sent me the bogus letter was the one who stole it. What better way to cover your tracks than by stamping "dead mail" on it, which is bs, it wasn't dead mail, both addresses were on it correctly, whoever stole it cut the front end off of my package and taped my company invoice to it and sent it back to me and said oh somehow the product got separated from the package.
Excuse my french but **. Lying thieves. Then they sent me a form to fill out so they can look for it. What a load of bs. In the meantime, I had to refund my customer $58.00 and they screwed me out of $115.00 worth of merchandise and by god I'll give it another week and then I am calling the police in Greensboro and Atlanta and filing a police report for theft. I don't care who they are, you are not getting away with stealing from me. Sucks to be you. Seattle tried to tell me they are holding it for 90 days until I get it back? For what?? Wtf? This is just one of several FALSE status updates by USPS (a criminal violation of professional ethics in my opinion), where USPS reported that the item was delivered when it was not. Today, it took me 30 minutes of argumentative persuasion with the Post office personnel before they conceded that the item was NOT delivered and was just sitting and gathering dust on their shelves. The tracking page shows wildly confusing information with 3 lines.. one saying delivered yesterday, the other saying scheduled to be delivered today and another one saying 'updated' delivery date on 06/12.
As I said, this is just one of several terrible irregularities, especially FALSE status updates that the post office has been carrying on in the recent months. The last time this happened, I was told that the delivery person marked it delivered because he 'anticipated' he would be able to deliver. Is this where things have come down to? The USPS should be shut down. They have screwed up 2 out of 3 deliveries to me in the last 2 weeks. First I was supposed to receive the package that was sent in 2 days. Four days later which was a Saturday. The tracking info stated it was in my small town and out for delivery. I waited around all day long and just figured they were running late. Finally at about 5:30 pm the tracking information was updated saying package undeliverable as addressed. I was furious knowing it was too late to fix until Monday the earliest. I called the 1-800 right away. The woman was able to read me the correct address from her computer without even having the package which made it hard for me to believe the mailman didn't have the same information at hand. I was told that the package obviously wouldn't be delivered Monday and I would have to go to the post office and pick it up which could be done as soon as they opened. P.S. I needed this package badly at least 3 days before this.
I called my local office the minute they opened Monday morning and was going into work late so I could pick it up. Surprise Surprise. I was lied to through the whole process. When I called and asked if I could pick up my package I was told, "oh it's out for delivery and you'll have it between 2 and 4?? How could it be out for delivery when it was undeliverable right before they closed Saturday and had only been open for an hour after I called. I said that exact thing and asked for an explanation from the guy on the phone who said, "oh the label was damaged but we were able to figure it out." I wanted to believe him. When the package came I caught the mailman outside and took it right from him. The package was in mint condition with the original label with the business name right on it. I peeled that up to see if there was another label. Of course there wasn't. I asked the mail man and he laughed and said, "oh yeah they just made that up."
We were short handed Saturday and they just didn't want to deliver it. I was completely shocked that this knowingly goes on and they get away with this obviously all the time. I filed a complaint knowing that nothing would ever be done. A few days later another package was sent to me by a business in Nevada who I have bought from 20+ times. They use priority and it usually takes 3 days to get to me. The package was shipped June 5th. It's now June 9th and the tracking information has not changed since the first update on June 5th. It's still in Nevada. After 10 attempts to get a human on the phone via the 1-800 I was told, "Oh sorry it probably just missed a scan and should be there in a few more days. I'll give you a case number but it probably won't help??" Are you serious? That's the answer I'm given. So nothing would have been done and no heads up to me that the they screwed up and it's going to be 6 or 7 days late.
I guess they don't understand some packages contain things people need in a certain amount of time that are important. Theses items are needed for my business and customers don't care about a story. I have no other options right now because these companies don't give an option to ship with FED-EX or UPS. The service from the USPS is completely disgusting and they are not accountable for anything. The straight up being lied to is so wrong. I would have been happier with, "a we're sorry we messed up," instead of lies. I would love to see them shut down. This was just 2 recent examples. The service they provide is a JOKE.

I even spoke to Maryann the "boss" for assistance and she was of absolutely no help. Now when I requested a refund, she denied my request.
I do not see why I should be paying such horrible service of $44.15 for the postage and on top of that spend many hours on the phone trying to find my package! I also stopped at the West Jordan post office to try to see if they could help me figure out how to handle this and the Post "Master" Brenda was terrible at her job and clearly unqualified to sit behind her desk!! It seemed to me that she was not even paying attention to what I was saying, but was asking me question like "Well did the people in Florida go to their local post office to see if the package came?"... I called USPS, which by the way took 10 calls to get a hold of, and they put an investigation on it. They told me they would call me back in 4 days. It's been 2 weeks and no one has called me. During all that I also made calls to my local post office and they said they would contact post office sort facility and give me a call back. Again it’s been 2 weeks and no one has called.
I also called the supervisor for my zip code like 30 times until she finally decided to pick up the phone. Again she said she would call me back the same day. You guessed it, she didn't call me back. Now I have been trying to call her back for the past 4 days 20 times a day and no one picks up. Finally on the fifth day she picked up and decided to transfer me to the same damn number and now she didn't pick up. I am getting so mad at this point, but I will not give up with them. There is a birthday present in that package that has been sent from my grandparents to my sister.

No wonder post office is going out of business when they steal from their customers. Bunch of thieves working there. It's like 3rd world country mail not like USA post mail should be. DO NOT PURCHASE USPS INSURANCE. I purchased $179 of insurance on a $700 Lladro figurine that I was shipping to a buyer. I sold the item cheap so I only asked for the cost that I was paid for the item in insurance. USPS destroyed the item as it arrived in several pieces. Instead of receiving a check from USPS for the total insured amount ($179) the USPS decided that they only wanted to pay me $50 for the item they broke. First, they overcharge for insurance and then they don't even pay you what you insure your packages for. I will never ship with insurance through USPS again! BEWARE.

USPS did not pay the $50 Insurance on a lost Priority Mailing. It's very simple really, and I have mailed two submission to be paid the $50 for a lost mailing. One is include below.
My item tracking number ** was mailed on 12/30/2013 via Priority Mail with a scheduled delivery day of 01/02/14. It never made it to its destination which is self evident by the tracking history. I have, over the course of the weeks after it did not arrive on the appointed day, been in touch with both customer service and Consumer Affairs. Neither of these well trained and competent departments I am sure could tell me anything other than they were looking for it. My final conversation with them was that it was not to be found and I should file a claim indeed. My final phone call to Consumer Affairs left me wondering if I was the object of some cosmic joke and had reached the set of Mork and Mindy. I have completed the form provided and must confess that like most official forms, it does not appear to have been designed for the feeble of mind like myself.
To put it plainly, I paid you in good faith expecting with the centuries of experience and commitment to service and the mail getting thru, that this item would be delivered in a timely fashion, it was not and still has not been. Hence, I am asking for the $50 insurance that was included with my purchase of 2nd day Priority mail. This item was very important to me and was to answer a question that I have had all my life. And thanks to you that was not to be. Indeed I had to initiate another transaction that cost me further hard earned dollars and I can assure you the $50 I am owed by the U.S.P.S. does not begin to cover my out of pocket expenses.
The second letter is similar, to say I am disgusted would be a fair assumption. I realize that in the span of history or the events in the world today, $50 seems a almost laughable amount. I am not saying I can afford to just say goodbye to the owed amount, but in reality it is more that I have an expectation from a Government entity such as the U.S.P.S. to honor their agreement and they have not. I realize I might be spitting in the wind, but I am fed up trying to get any response or satisfaction regarding my complaint.

I even went back to the post office where I shipped them and they were most uncooperative. The most recent reoccurring issue has been mail not being forwarded despite my having paid for that service. My insurance company emailed me yesterday to say my statement had been returned and the post office had told them I don't live there! Interesting as my property taxes were forwarded as was my property insurance renewal statement. The randomness with which these problems occur leads me to believe it's only a few bad apples not the entire postal staff.
I have had mail go missing without explanation especially credit card bills. I once had a box left on the porch which had the postal label sliced though completely and retaped. When I asked at the post office who had opened my package prior to delivery I got a blank look and the man told me he couldn't help me. I've had numerous issues with this post office arbitrarily deciding what mail will be delivered and what will just "disappear."
Prior to stumbling onto this website I thought these problems were unique to me. I don't understand why there hasn't been a class action suit initiated or one of the news stations that cover exposes investigate this. Minimizing your use of the mail system only rewards these postal staff for bad behavior. They would be paid the same amount and have the same inviolate job security if they only delivered one letter a day! The inmates have been running the asylum for way too long and accountability is long overdue. The ironic thing is WE the taxpayers pay their inflated salaries.

I was told I had to sign for it or I could not get it. I stated I would not sign for it, I should not even be at the post office to pick it up, it should had been left in my mail box. Why do I have to sign for it if no signature is required.
I was told I had to sign or I was not getting my mail. If I held someone's mail I would be in trouble with the government. They are holding my mail for no reason. I want my package and I am not signing for it. Who would have signed for it at my house if the carrier followed instructions and knew how to deliver mail? This is why there are so many offices closing down. Crappy customer service!

USPS STEALS ANOTHER ONE - No one can tell me why it's going in circles or why it is now going in the opposite direction of where it's suppose to be going. No one answers my emails. I honestly believe that the package is stolen or lost and they are just playing games with me about where its at. The worst part of this all is that I filed a claim with consumer affairs on a lost package a month ago, and my claim was denied because I had no proof I had mailed it even though there was tracking but to a different location. I guess I needed pictures of me actually dropping it off at the post office and handing it to the clerk. It's robbery at its best - doesn't matter who we are - they take what they want and there's not a damn thing we can do about it. I'm going to print all of the complaints on this site and send them to President Obama so maybe he can get someone to do something about these government workers whose salary WE pay.

I absolutely can't believe how much the post office has cost me this year. I have been an active eBayer for 10 years now but have been forced to quit due to the post office continuously breaking all my items. I am struggling to make rent now because of the crap the post office is pulling. Let me just say, this is a hard lesson learned, but I'll NEVER use the post office again to ship ANY package at all. "FRAGILE" doesn't mean throw with both hands you morons! In the past few months I have had 5 claims with the post office. I am STILL waiting to hear back from an appeal made on 3/19/14 to get the rest of the money due to the customer. It sucks, because the priority mail boxes I shipped out (to get them there faster and to have them spend less time in the system) were actually ROUNDED off on all corners when they arrived. It’s completely disgusting how the lack of accountability costs me money.
Case in point: I ship an 89 dollar car CD changer. It goes flat rate for about 17 bucks. The buyer gets it; it’s rounded off and completely smashed to bits. Then I have to pay the buyer to ship it back to me to take photos and make the claim. BAM, that costs me 17 bucks to get it back. THEN, since my own ** thought it would actually make it, I trusted the $50 free insurance that came with it and didn't take out any more. SO, After I eat the cost of the 17 to get it back to me to deal with the morons at the PO, I then must refund the difference of the 50 (since it was $89 total, I am eating the original 17- the 39, PLUS another 17 to refund the seller their original shipping cost). SO, the grand total I have to pay back to my customer aside from the refunded 50 is $73 dollars, plus all my eBay and PayPal fees.
I don't sell on eBay just to give a bunch of refunds, and I am PISSED OFF that even if I DID get the entire amount back for the item, I STILL have to eat a bunch of shipping costs. ANOTHER CASE IN POINT: I shipped a linear tracking record player to a guy in MS. when it arrived, there was a HOLE THROUGH the box and every single corner was smashed in. I had to pay $40 to get it back to me. The post office refunded the selling price of $35 dollars, but I had to refund the sellers shipping money to get it back, PLUS since the post office didn't refund that shipping, I also had to refund the original price. That ordeal cost me $80!
I am SICK to DEATH of having to eat double shipping costs just to make my buyers happy. Then after I pay my fees and gas to deal with the idiots at the PO, I end up losing hundreds each month. That is why I have quit eBay, given up my PowerSeller status (so far I still have 100% positive feedback, but the post office worked hard to bring that down). But the point is I just can't afford to keep taking such bad hits.
The very last 'round I had on eBay - I sold 4 items. THREE of those four came back. Those are HORRIBLE odds with shipping, and I swear it’s the scam the post office has going to keep making money. They truly don't give a ** about you, your packages, or whether it’s your great-great-grandma’s antique china. They are going to break it anyway. One post master told my father - jokingly but truthfully "FRAGILE to the post office means throw with both hands, not just one - hahahaha!" NOT FUNNY YOU **, NOT FUNNY AT ALL. These are other peoples' belongings YOU are trashing, so show a little respect!
I am fortunate enough to have UPS and FedEx. I am not a government employee, I manage a local eatery with a thousand times more pride and care in my work than these people who obviously need a new perspective on WHY FRAGILE means FRAGILE. There is nothing we can do, you might as well not even write 'fragile' or 'this side up' on your packages. It only makes them an easy target for the PO employees to throw them a little harder or ship them upside down. I am obviously disgruntled, but with good reason. Last year I shipped over $4000 with them. This year, they get NO MORE MONEY OUT OF ME. The well is dry.
P.S. THE Priority mail box I am adding photos of was a NEW (supposed to be sturdy?) box. It's clearly marked fragile, but obviously dropped hard, more than once. It looks like it may have rolled off the back of a truck or something. This is just ONE of SEVERAL examples of a clear lack of caring or ability to do a job right.

On the morning of May 5th, the item was scanned "Out for delivery" to my Brewster home. When I checked the mailbox that evening, there was no mail and the delivery status still stated "Out for delivery". The next morning, I contacted the USPS via their customer service email option on their main website and waited. Four days went by and I emailed them, again. Finally, after 10 days, I received an email apologizing for the inconvenience and was told they would research the issue. After 14 days, I received an email telling me that my mail was unable to be located. The mail carrier was questioned and she told them that she had delivered my mail that day, but, forgot to scan the packaged delivered. To this day, the item is still "Out for delivery".
I moved to this town 2 years ago and have had multiple problems with my mail delivery. I truly believe the mail carrier stole or destroyed my mail that day and I have no recourse at this time. How could she truly remember if she delivered mail to one particular house, on one particular day when she delivers hundreds of homes, everyday? What can I do now? The US Postal Service has lost just under $1,000.00 in products we've purchased over the past 2 years! The carriers have routinely dumped credit cards, certified letters, mortgage applications and small packages in front of the apartment building. There is NO ACCOUNTABILITY and zero work ethic! And is if this type of misconduct weren't bad enough, there are often many weeks in which the carrier shows up on only 2 or 3 days out of 6! If this were a private corporation, they'd have been closed down ages ago! We used to order from the big online retailers but will no longer do so unless they provide UPS or FedEx options for delivery. Based on our experience, the US Postal Service is THE WORST institution in the Western world! And they enjoy "executive immunity"! In a word: horrible.

On 5/19, I received communication from my supervisor again. The posters were needed for a Medical Library Association Conference and the posters were needed BEFORE 5/19. I started making calls to customer service at 8 am on 5/19. It is not 10:15 am and I've been given the incorrect information to contact Consumer Affairs in Chicago.
