Our mail is constantly late from November thru January usually around 7:00pm. Called supervisor who just kept giving excuses. What is pathetic is the regular is always late and the substitutes are delivering it between 1:00 and 3:00pm. Talked to another regular who said that they can't do anything about putting someone (more qualified on route) because she bids on it with her seniority. This is why they should go private. This wouldn't be happening. If a person can't do the job get rid of them. Now the mail is still late so the excuses about it being the holiday season are over.

I moved to a very wooded area a few months back that's 'off the grid' about 1/2 mile. The mailboxes for all of us are literally a mile back off the main road. I order many specialized items online. I pay a lot of money for shipping yet I have to leave work, drive to the post office, find parking, stand in line, and ask for my packages several times a week.

Frustrating on several levels: 1) Why do they sometimes deliver and sometimes not (in good weather)? 2) Why do they both leave a slip in my mailbox to come in and pick up Package A yet on the same day, deliver Package B to my doorstep? 3) If they don't even attempt to deliver, why do I have to pay for full shipping to begin with? I'm doing most of the work, and I'm losing an hour's worth of time/money in the middle of my workday everytime I have to do my own pickups.

I ordered from a company and paid extra for USPS express shipping. Everything went as it should, until the USPS delivery person claims he tried to make the delivery to my home, but left a "sorry we missed you" card in my mail box. The not so funny part about this, is that four adults were home, plus two dogs and a door bell, yet no delivery. This was on a Friday, I don't see the card in my mail box until Saturday when the post office is closed. In past times of delivery, if we are not home, the card is taped to our door, but not this time.

When I call the post office to complain "nicely" it is deny deny deny and blame me and everyone else. I call the post master and get referred to the consumer affairs office. Consumer affairs office calls the post office and is told the same thing, "the driver made the attempt with no response". So, evidently everyone in the house is mistaken or liars and the mail person and the post office are not responsible for anything, but HEY, THANKS FOR THE EXTRA MONEY YOU GAVE US, is how I feel. I will never use USPS ever again. FEDEX is all I will use from now one.

I need proof of change of address to cancel my gym membership back home. Unfortunately, I can not provide them with a utility bill or lease. So I get the verification code but have lost it (my bad). The brick and mortar post office says, "Call 1800 ASK-USPS." Call them. They give me 800-238-3150, option 4 and say they will be able to give me the code again over the phone...if not, they will resend it.

I get connected with a rude woman who ends up hanging up on me, saying I have to wait 30 days and then pay $52..."I said 30 days -- click"...I call back and somehow get connected with her again. She ignores me when I ask for her name and service number. Instead, she gets mine (probably to put me on a watch list) and repeats her information, saying she knows I called back 5 minutes ago and to call back in 5 days (which is still less than 30 days). Tell me, why I have to wait 30 days and why it costs me $52 for a verification code I did not have to pay for in the first place? This is the Postal Service I pay taxes towards. This woman works for me. All I want to do is cancel my gym membership. The government should drop the postal service. Service is the number one thing they are not. Aren't they in debt?

I have 4 package of green card that includes, me, my wife and my two children. When I track through tracking number in December 2014, the status was delivered in mail my mail box on December 3rd but I never received it. When I track it in January 2015, I was surprised to see that tracking status says it's still in transit and more surprise was that when I track it. On February 2015 it says tracking number could not be found. I am helpless I made call to post office more than 100 times but never received the call it was always in the answering machine.

The biggest problem was that I sent my son and daughter in the post office in TX 79910. When they reached there, post office staffs told them that it was not in their post office told them to go to post office in TX 79912. Again when they reached they said go to post office TX at 79902 and when they reached there, they denied to talk further simply said it was delivered in your mail box. We have nothing to do and left with us. When my children request further to check it they said can't you hear that I told you it was delivered.

My innocent kids spent more than $200 moving up and down by a taxi. But my daughter's green card was received later and 3 green card has never received at all. My biggest worry is that my son got admission in UTEP after getting extension of one month from USCIS but now I don't know what will happen if he don't get his green card by next semester. I am really worried and don't know where and to whom to contact further to get my green card. Post office has never tried to solve it. I am helpless. I will be grateful if some one could handle this case to get my green card.

I've been tracking my package for about a week. It was very expensive so I made sure to do everything I could to see its whereabouts. It was supposed to be delivered on a Thursday but when 6 pm came around I gave up and figured it would be late. The tracking updated at 2:45 am Friday morning that it would be late. I had no issue with this. I was a little worried after reading so many bad reviews of packages missing but I decided to hold my composure (it's only a day late...no biggie).

However, this is what got me. I work night shift so I wouldn't wake up til maybe 3-4 pm usually. Today I decided to wake up early just to be sure I don't miss the mailman. At about 1:30 pm I heard my dog barking. That was the ONLY indication that the mailman came. No knock on the door. When I went out to meet him as expected, he was two houses down. I looked in the mailbox and I see a "sorry, we missed you" slip. Really?! In order for me to get my package I had to wave him down. His excuse was, "I didn't even see that slip in there. I'm losing my mind today." No, he needs to be losing his job actually. This is why USPS has ** reviews, why packages get lost, why small businesses choose to ship with others. How hard is it to knock a few times on a door to get a signature? I wouldn't have my package today if I didn't have to walk off my porch and down to the sidewalk to flag him down.

It should not cost $8.85 to sent two $1.99 bags of Peanut Chews to Jacksonville, Florida from Fulton, MS. I used an old "Priority Mail" box that had been sent to me last July with something heavier in it (costing $5.86 to ship). I asked the girl behind the counter if it would help if I changed to another box and she said "it wouldn't make much difference". I bit THIS time, but it will be the last time. #Fleecing of America I don't have the tracking number with me, but when I find it I will gripe again. I understand there is some survey which I couldn't find that I overheard her telling the other customers.

I cannot believe a business is able to get away with ripping people off the way the postal service does. They are never responsible for any mail no matter how much insurance you buy. If you pay for two-day shipping and it doesn't arrive in two day they should give you your money back just like any other company. What really burns my ass is when you try to call them they purposely do their best not to answer the phone, and when you finally get a hold of a person they are rude.

I also know for a fact there are a big bunch of thieves that work for them as well. The thing is they know we have to have them, even if you get it shipped UPS, or FEDEX the majority of the time it ends up with USPS anyhow. A total reconstruction has to happen for this to be fixed. They also need to make the drivers responsible for the packages they scan on their trucks that way when they mysteriously disappear it comes out of their checks.

I am disgusted with the post office. The last few months I've sent packages and have had nothing but problems. Then you try to reach someone, and this is a nightmare. I also tried to reach the post office to where the package is to be delivered, another nightmare. When are they going to get their act together? Don't they get it as to why they are falling apart. Don't blame it on the computer whereas people are taking care of business online, not true. Some or most of us still visit the post office to take care of all services. It's the services that are being provided, not only are they expensive, but packages and letters for some reason either get there later than expected, go elsewhere, or they don't get there at all? What's up with this?

I've made up my mind as have others, go to the competitor who delivers right to your door and 99% of the time, they blame it on the weather, but they are believable because their reasoning for it is true. Goodbye USPS, you need to get our act together. In addition, send some of your folks to 'attitude adjustment' classes. They make good money and they have good benefits, some of us don't have the luxury of even being able to get a job. Customer service should be at the top of your list and just not worrying about how much you're going to raise the stamps and or packages. YIKES!!!

Multiple issues with carrier delivering to apartment complex:

    1. Claims delivery by scanning object -- however, no proof of delivery -- not received by me or apartment manager. Carrier can deliver WHEREVER he chooses, and postal service refuses to believe carrier is NOT delivering mail as he should.
    2. Delivers packages to different apartment # -- wrong recipient believes it is Christmas! Isn't it the POST OFFICE'S responsibility to make sure items delivered as addressed??
    3. Package "delivery attempt" slips in mailbox because carrier is too lazy to bring object to apartment OR leave in package receptacle.
4, Package "delivery attempt'" slips left in mailbox, indicating delivered to complex manager. Complex manager has no package.
    5. Packages left with complex manager -- no attempt to deliver in person and no "delivery attempt" left.

    6. Items over-packed in mail receptacle, making it impossible to remove with destroying items.

Maybe it was only in the old days that USPS couriers were not deterred by weather from completing their rounds; today it's a different story. Having received no mail for nearly a week, I stopped in the main post office for Newton, MA, (02458) to see what was going on (Yes, we've had mountains of snow, but the last storm was this past Sunday.). The clerk went to check and returned with an armload of mail, nearly half of it first-class. "We're delivering it now," he proclaimed happily. Slack-jawed, I challenged him, "How can you be delivering it when it's sitting here--and has been accumulating for days?" Response: "Logjam." Totally disappointing; totally unacceptable. Sure, I'm happy to cut the USPS some slack because of bad weather, but how much do they think they need? Maybe a month's worth? That'll get us to spring...

First this has been building up, I have been paying attention to them for the last year. And this is the problems plaguing the USPS. One the workers do not care. Two, no one there holds themselves accountable anymore. Three, it seems they are pansies now as compared to yesteryear. Does the phrase neither rain sleet or snow, will keep us from our deliveries.

That is lost now as this week we had a winter storm but, instead of trying to get everything done before it hit they all went home. Then the next day roads looking ok around 12 pm to about 6 but, no they stayed home again. Now today roads are all but clear but there is another bunch of weather coming in again but do they try to get moving to help with the back up they have from not working 2 days? Of course not. That would make too much sense.

Now it's been 3 days and we have some 4 packages waiting up there and no telling how much regular mail and we thought well maybe we can go up there and pick it up. Called up there and guess what, not only is there no answer but when the answering service picks up it tells you the mailbox is full and can not take anymore messages. Isn't that just a kicker. So yes if you can I would chose a better way to ship.

I have an eBay business and have had packages completely lost. Last month a buyer was delivered the shipping label without the package. I'm the one having to provide full refunds for these and risk negative feedback to my seller status. I have a very small business which can't afford to give refunds and have no item returned. Also, I sent my daughter a letter last month with her W-2 forms and she never received them. Add to that that when I am in Post Office, it feels like decades ago when visiting Eastern European countries and having to go to a bank or Post Office. One person at the counter and several in the back. Somehow it seems like if the Postal system is no longer reliable, all is lost as our bureaucratic system begins to unravel.

I recently moved into an apt bldg (first timer), so I hadn't really had a whole lot of experience with the large mailbox doors that the mail carrier accesses all the mailboxes.. One day when arriving home the mail lady was filling the mailboxes with the 2 large doors that access the smaller personal boxes, as I approached my side I noticed a funny look on the carrier's face as she maliciously waited for me to do what she knew I was about to do, my intention was simply to grab the couple envelopes that were in my slot & as soon as I reached my hand in she very aggressively reached over and tried to slam my hand in the door! At that moment she very loudly exclaimed "YOU CAN'T DO THAT!"

I was shocked by her behavior & initially didn't know how to react, I ended up asking her very blatantly "Why are you always so damn rude to me?" Her response was that she wasn't rude and that what I tried to do was illegal & I couldn't do that! She was already over amped and completely irate & the only solution for me was to drive down to the local P.O and file a complaint with her supervisor....

By the time I'd driven to the post office the carrier had already called her supervisor & went into damage control, when I spoke with the female supervisor it was clear that anything I had to say was all just lies in her mind, her statement to me was "She stands behind her carriers NO MATTER WHAT!" I have never been so insulted by a "professional agency" & this was clearly insult to injury from the previous encounter with the carrier. Bottom line - this is a very detailed account of what had transpired that day & it continues for the last 4 months as I have called the headquarters for the post office probably 25 times or more with no help or returned call..

The real problem is I can't get my mail delivered anymore and have to drive down to the post office almost daily because according to her supervisor "She's afraid of me" lol! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS, she actually played that card & got away with it! I told her supervisor later that I was afraid of the two 6' 4" guys on the corner with knives on their belts & leather jackets but it doesn't stop me from walking past them on the sidewalk! Maybe this isn't the job for this woman if she's that afraid of someone who's little more than asked her why she was so dumb rude to me...

I just don't get it, USPS is working for me & I pay money to have those packages brought to me. Why do I have to drive to the post office daily to retrieve something I've paid to have brought to my home? This women is clearly showing who's in control, it's a power struggle & she's going to show me who's boss & she's even resorted to being deceitful to her employer to get her way. The complaint has far more detail (too much to list) & it shows the downright lack of professionalism on the part of USPS.

I could driven it there myself by this point. This is by no means the first time that I have paid for priority mail and it hasn't arrived to it's destination in 2 days, 3 days, or even 4 days. It's pretty simple: If USPS can't get a priority package to its destination in 2 to 3 days, as they advertise, STOP CHARGING EXTRA FOR IT!!!

Additionally, they have broken things in the past (some antique glass pitchers in one case) and make the claim process SOOOOOO difficult, it's ultimately not worth it. I am quite certain they count on that. At any rate, I will not be darkening the doorway of the post office ever again and will use UPS or FedEx from now on out. Judging from the MANY bad reviews I have read here, I am certainly not alone. There is absolutely no wondering why the postal service is having a difficult time staying open.

I'm not sure why Feline's Pride (raw cat food company) decided to switch to USPS to deliver its packages of perishable cat food. They'd been using FedEx and everything was getting delivered on time and still frozen. Now with USPS, packages are routinely late even though I've paid for 2 or 3 day Priority Mail delivery. So, I've paid for quick delivery, and the package is a day or two late, and since it's perishable cat frozen cat food, it is now thawed and useless, but USPS does not insure perishable goods, so I can't get my money back, and I'm out twice--once for the original food purchase, and then for the delivery price. USPS is the worst. If I could rate it negative stars I would.

I am appalled at the Hawthorne, NV post office and the fact that the mail is always seemingly late. I have certain items that are sent from the same place every other week and are consistently there on the same days until there is a holiday that falls on a Monday. I could understand having mail delivered late following a holiday, but they seem to be in such a hurry on the Saturday prior to that holiday to leave that mail isn't delivered until they return from their holiday.

I have had packages sent to my PO Box (I only have a po box due to the fact that is the only way to receive mail here) and the Post Office has stamped "return to sender no such person or unknown person for this box number". Which in turn ends up costing the sender more money to resend or costing me money in order to have it reshipped. I cannot find a place to write a formal complaint anywhere that doesn't have me dealing with the local post office here. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them.

They cover for each other, and theft is done daily, also the workers are rude and brush the customer off when they complain. I lost a passport, social security card and four hundred dollars. Only use Federal Express, or another carrier. Wilcox workers are thieves. Be careful.

On Friday, 12/5/2014, I shipped a package weighing 30 lbs. at ~ 20" x 16" to an eBay buyer, after paying almost $32 for 2-3 days USPS Priority Mail shipping through eBay. The package was weighed (AM) at the local PO and then shipped that same day (PM) from the same location. The package NEVER got officially scanned into the USPS tracking system. On 12/16 I sent the buyer a full refund for total purchase cost of the lost package. After waiting the required 7 days, I started two online queries and one phone query from USPS mgmt., but never got a reply. I also started a search at the local PO -- they remembered the package and told me that a priority mail package to Texas was lost the same day -- email queries went out from there but found nothing.

After waiting the required 30 days, I submitted an insurance claim for the (insured) total. They rejected the claim, stating that I had no proof of tendering by USPS, despite the proof that I purchased the shipping label from USPS and never cancelled it out, as well as refunded the buyer. I appealed the case by sending them a copy (as dated, stamped AND signed by the local "missing package clerk") of the USPS INTERNAL tracking report which stated that it was INDEED tendered at the local PO on 12/05/2014 at 18:13. They again rejected the claim, with their usual (fake) apologies. The moral of the story: NEVER EVER send a package via USPS in December if it is important and/or worth much money.

Like the thousands of other people on this site, I cannot believe how completely incompetent and more importantly completely lacking in accountability the USPS is. On January 19th, I sent a letter from Denver, CO to Estes Park, CO, via certified mail. I watched my letter over the course of 2.5 days make its way to the recipient. On January 22nd, it was refused by the recipient (which was good!) and indicated it would be returned to sender. I checked back daily and nothing. I started talking to my local delivery person, who said it could take a little longer.

After 2 weeks, I called the 800 number, only to be told, they couldn't tell me anything more than, it was being returned to sender. After 2.5 weeks, I called again and they provided a case number. Someone called me back on 2/3 to tell me that they found my letter hanging out at the Estes Park, CO post office and that it would be stuck in the mail to be returned to me. 10-days later, I still have not received my certified letter and the system says it’s still sitting in Estes Park! I have called my local post office that handles my mail, and called the Estes Park Office. Estes Park "says" they are positive it is not in their office and that it was mailed back. Arvada (my office) says they are positive it has not arrived to them and is not with my carrier for delivery.

Apparently, to top things off, their "system" has been down for two days. I cannot get anything from anyone in Arvada, Estes Park and the 800 number, because they can't use their computer. I have no idea if my letter will ever return to me, but after nearly a month, to only travel 30 miles I cannot figure out what else I can do. I need my letter back!

There were so many people on line that the queue reached the entrance door of the building. There, only two employees serving. The Retail window, where parcels are generally handled was closed, so everybody had to do the same line no matter the service requested. I asked twice the employee to call the supervisor in order to address the problem. The employee ignored my request. More than one hour waiting line!

How do I know? Because in other occasions I had to go through similar lines at that Post Office. I couldn't wait so long. So I returned in the evening with my wife at about 5:45 PM. The line was still long but not as in the morning. My wife had to wait almost an hour anyway before being served, while I was waiting in the car on the nearby street. Considering the travels, I spent almost three hours just to withdraw a parcel!!!! What a disservice. And this is not the only time that I experienced poor service at that Post office.

I had a package mailed to me on December 3, 2014 from Washington State, coming to Canada. I was told the tracking # would be an extra $16; I was having a hard enough time paying for the product and shipping itself, so I didn't add the tracking fee (when packages are mailed from Canada, tracking is automatically included). I've never had a problem with USPS until now. Ten weeks later, and nobody knows where my package is........the only "tracking" info I can find shows that it was accepted at the Post Office; nothing after that.

I've called Canada Post, Border Security, and USPS, nobody knows where my package is. I found an email address for technical support, and asked them to look into it; the response I got back was INFURIATING!!!!!!!!!! Apparently, since I didn't pay for extra tracking past the US border, "it isn't MANDATORY for USPS to take or address my complaint". Hello?!?!?!?!? They lost my package, who else do I complain to??? It never made it to the Canada border, and since the tracking only went AS FAR AS the border, why can't they figure out where it is?!?!?!? Their only response is, "next time pay for tracking and insurance", so that I can at least get a refund.

I lost $93, and USPS doesn't care, and their workers are getting away with theft. I'm FURIOUS that this has happened..........at least postal workers in Canada are held responsible if our packages or mail is lost; USPS workers can get away with stealing anything without a tracking number, and nobody cares........the customers are just given a pat on the head and told to pay for tracking next time!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about a scam---they lose our packages the first time, so that we'll have more incentive to pay for tracking after that!!!!!!!! As I said, tracking is INCLUDED in all Canadian-sent packages, so I don't understand the USPS system, except to say that it is a rip off!!!!!!!! Needless to say, I will NOT be using USPS again!!!!

When I checked my mail box, there was the redelivery/pick up notice that was left if a delivery had failed to occur. How can a notice like that be left if there was no effort on the USPS driver's side to make the delivery? They are supposed to be good with package delivery but if this continues to happen, how can we trust USPS to deliver our packages or at least make the effort to make the delivery? On January 2, 2015 my package was sent to the wrong state due to a typo in the zip code (entered by the mail center), it was one number off, it then became stuck in limbo between states, was apparently never retrievable, and as a result was eventually damaged, and now most likely all the contents lost or possibly sent to the recovery center. But no one at the recovery center can confirm if they received my faxed lost parcel form. And there is apparently such a thing as a USPS auction that sells unclaimed items...

And all of this was allowed to happen even though I had a tracking number. I tracked my package for weeks. I checked on it daily and contacted USPS regularly. But from the beginning no one at USPS (local post offices or the 800#) could actually help me at any point in the package's movement. At times I couldn't even get through to speak with anyone at USPS. Voice mails were left unanswered. Social media doesn't do any good. Two people at USPS flat out told me they couldn't help me, and more than once I was told my tracking number wasn't correct. Even though it was.

All three times I talked to consumer affairs I was told something different. It wasn't until I took it upon myself to call the recovery center that I found out that, indeed, my package had finally been damaged due to being shipped back and forth. The recovery center told me that everything I'd been told by consumer affairs was not accurate. I believe I have been more than thorough this entire time trying to ensure my package would be delivered or returned, but USPS has failed at assisting me in every step because of what seems to be a lack of available customer service and uninformed USPS workers, no organized process is in place to deal with issues when they arise, and there is seemingly complete disconnect between all parties involved.

I'm in the process of searching for the postmaster general contact information for Dallas, Des Moines, and Memphis (where my package went through). I contacted the USPS 800#, but was told they don't have that information. I have found 8 numbers online for the three cities, and was able to leave one voice mail. All other calls went unanswered and no voice mail picked up. USPS social media sites haven't responded to me. I've also emailed details of the issue to my local postmaster, with no response three days later. I've just emailed pmgceo@usps.gov in the hopes that I can get in touch with someone who can respond to me about the issue and acknowledge it.

Angry isn't quite the right word for the experience. Mostly: completely baffled. Baffled by the whole experience. Maybe a bit angry because it was a Christmas gift for a 10 year old child who couldn't make it to Christmas with her family. And the USPS doesn't seem to care about their customers and has seemingly no concern about addressing issues.

Updated on March 20, 2015: To follow up with my previous review. The Omaha postmaster is the only person who finally responded to me and offered assistance with my issue. I'm satisfied with his response, but my mail did not even go through Omaha. I was never able to obtain contact information for other postmasters, message responses are sporadic at best. I would never send irreplaceable items through USPS.

The customer service was kicking me back to the local postal office. I spent hours waiting and got in touch with the local office. And the agent asked me to call the customer service... With the experience from my EAD, this time I tracked the tracking number that was provided for my green card for USCIS every few hours. I also requested all my mails to be put on hold for me to pick up from the post office instead of being delivered.

On Feb 7th, the tracking number showed that the mail arrived at the post office, so I came to pick it up. Nothing. The guy at the pick up window said maybe it's out there, but he can't pull the mail out. So, he told me to write down my name, address, and tracking number so he could have S.O. put it on hold for me. I got him and check the tracking number again, it was out for delivery. 9pm on the same day, the tracking number showed up as "delivered" at noon, which was after my trip to the post office. Anyway, there was nothing in the mail box. And now I have to go through the whole process of filing forms, paying fees, and waiting for another 5 months to get new documents. Only because as the USCIS agent said, USPS said it was delivered, if I didn't receive it, they considered as I lost it. There's nothing I can do except reapplying. USPS sucks.

If it was a different item I wouldn't be too upset about it however, I already had a shipping delay with the website I ordered from. Now another shipping delay because of USPS. In early 01/2015 I purchased a very expensive coat from a company in Europe. They sent out the package the following day and provided a USPS tracking number. The history showed the package was processed 7 days later at the ISC in NY. Somehow the jacket took two (2) weeks to reach my P.O. in Jersey City, NJ. My tracking showed sorting complete and "OUT FOR DELIVERY". After never receiving the item, I asked my delivery person what happened and showed her the printed tracking history. Unbelievably she does not speak English but mumbled the word supervisor and took the printout with her! Not feeling too confident I called the USPS helpline and went through the story with a supervisor who said her screen shows the item at the local facility. She promised the package would be delivered asap that same day and that she would call me back the following day.

That was 4 days ago and I assume the Italian-designed coat is stolen! I have a case number but trying to track down any P.O. activity is impossible. I don't want to dispute the charge because the retailer was great and fulfilled his end. I won't go to the local P.O. because everyone who works there is surly and unhelpful. Since it indicated delivery the USPS takes no responsibility for it, even though I personally questioned the mailman and was told he didn't remember where or to whom the package was delivered. Since complaining I have heard from at least two agencies that inform me since it was "delivered" they could do nothing about it. I am out the money because USPS is not held accountable for anything it does, not the arrogant, teeth sucking agents behind the bullet proof glass who know that mail has a less than 10 percent chance of being delivered, or the dishonest carrier who can indicate "delivered" and do whatever they want with the package. When is this agency going to held accountable? Please go out of business already so we can move on to privatizing this bloated, corrupt, inefficient agency to something else.

At this point I am very upset and said "You too have a boss and I will report this" and she rudely said, "I tried to help you." I'm certain that our 'acting postmaster' is worse than any of the rest. 90% of our packages are late, lost or wet/damaged. Those aren't great odds. Our incoming mail arrives at 7 or even later at night, thus since it's in a cluster of boxes a block from my house, we never get it until the next morning. The outgoing mail is often not postmarked for 4 days, if it goes out on a Friday. The operative word is IF. Our carrier is here between 7 and 8 PM and the truck goes out to the 'centralized' center at 6 PM. Thus anything that is important is not postmarked. I learned this the hard way when I put our sales tax report in the mail, and they postmarked it 4 days later, thus incurring a $50 penalty. The 'acting' postmaster's comment? Postal service is not a right, it is a courtesy. I've since stopped doing business with ANY COMPANY who uses USPS to ship. If they can't ship by a reliable carrier, I don't need the product.

This is a complaint about the USPS, not Amazon Prime. Still, I'd rather pay the extra shipping fees and have Amazon Prime use a more costly but reliable carrier than get "FREE SHIPPING" via the USPS only to be held hostage for days on end waiting for deliveries that never come.

For 3 days in a row I have been trapped in my apartment waiting for deliveries from Amazon via the USPS. The reason USPS claims the package was undeliverable was "INSECURE LOCATION". The facts are: I am in a very secure, 6-story apartment building WITH AN ELEVATOR that has an electronic buzzer entry system tied directly to my cell phone. The instructions are right next to the buzzer and list of apartment units. Simple entry: You look up the apartment unit, press START and then the 2-digit code, my phone rings, and I buzz you in. No one else has any problems with this, I have received food deliveries, FedEx packages, and (until now) UPS and USPS deliveries. There's NO WAY I can miss a delivery unless I don't have my cell phone on me. Needless to say I've even been sleeping with my cell phone right next to me, for fear of missing these deliveries.

Via USPS's own online tracking, USPS claims for 3 days now they have made delivery attempts but I can verify that I was home at the time they claimed to have made each attempt. My cell phone never rang, and I can also verify that nothing is wrong with the electronic entry buzzer (I checked it myself and was able to buzz myself into my building).

In addition, no pink slip was left so when I called USPS to arrange for a redelivery, I was given the runaround because they never left the "Sorry We Missed You! We RE Deliver For You" pink slip. Now USPS is telling me I have to pick up the package from the so-called nearest post office, which ironically is farther away from one that's right around the corner from me. Go figure. I have to get on a subway and then walk three blocks from the subway station to the designated USPS post office to get a large, heavy package that THE USPS NEVER TRIED ONCE TO DELIVER and for which NO PINK SLIP WAS LEFT.

Is this laziness? Because USPS is flat out lying when they claim to make some delivery attempts. This is unacceptable. I'd rather they tell the truth and leave a yellow slip that says "Gee, we just couldn't be bothered to get out of the truck or maybe we can't read so we couldn't follow the clear and simple instructions on how to gain access into your building. We're giving up and passing the buck to you. Schlepp to your not-so-nearest post office and pick it up yourself. The government doesn't pay us enough to try harder."

Package 2 was delivered to the PO Office at 9:27 am and was marked delivered, at 9:50 am marked unclaimed - ALL ON THE SAME DAY. The staff is no help, When I contact the postmaster at this branch, she always state "I'll look into it, give me you information and I'll call you tomorrow". It is the January 29 now and the tracking number finally updated, but somehow my package ended up going to Pennsylvania from California. Like how do you mess this up??? I am always reading about the US Postal System trying to make things better in order to get more business and for people to use their service. But, instead of being better, it has just become worse. I get very frustrated when I decide to use the US Mail instead of UPS, or other means because it never fails that I am always placed in a bind because of that decision. This latest one has really hurt me.

A company payroll check was mailed out to me on January 26. 3 days today from Franklin, TN and I do not believe that is acceptable that it is not here. I also think it is absurd that they actually have a time frame on the website that says 2-7 days! That is absolutely ridiculous that they can have a spread of 5 days. The people who work for me are EXTREMELY upset that they still do not have their paychecks. I am also upset that because of the US Postal Service, I CANNOT give them their paychecks. So, from here forward, I will not be using the US Postal Services for any of my needs.

After taking my info the rep proceeded to tell me that "their system was down" and I could have the pleasure of calling them back in a half hour or so and waiting another 10 to 15 minutes. I also sell on eBay and now customers can file "item not recd" claims against me and win. Items may even be arriving but I can't prove it since there's no documentation. Not sure if it's a technical or personnel issue either. I don't want to switch carriers due to added costs of shipping and farther driving. The Postal Service is a complete waste of time and money. The workers are simply incompetent and lazy - likely because as long as they are union workers, they do not have to try to do a good job. I have paid for priority and certified mail services that give an estimated delivery date and let you track a package. Using the USPS site, I have seen where Priority mail has spent days sitting in a sorting facility only to arrive at the destination a week after the expected date. I was put in touch with a supervisor at the station who told ME to CALL THE SORTING FACILITY TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. WTH???

Post Office says only Express Mail is guaranteed, everything else is at best a guess. Translation - nothing else requires the Postal Service's effort to actually get it to its destination. Therefore, Supervisors and Managers don't care why items aren't delivered timely - that's for the customer to deal with. It's a shame the government is subsidizing incompetence.

It appears that there are citizens' mails missing at the post office at Northwest Plano, Texas. It appears that no one cares about it as long as it is not their mails that are missing, stolen or sold or thrown into the bush. On January 17th, 2015, my wife's green card arrived at the Northwest Plano post office. We have been tracking the card since it left Corbin Immigration office in Kentucky.

On January 20th, 2015, the post office tracking system tells us that the mail was out for delivery. We waited all day, and in the evening we went to check the mailbox. There was nothing placed in our mail box. Usually we get junk mail, but on this day, there was nothing in the mail box. The following day, January 21st, 2015, I went to the post office to complain that I was expecting mail since January 20th, and it did not arrived as promised and scheduled. I spoke to a lady working at the post office by the name of Linda **, who took the information and the tracking number from me. She left and returned to tell me that they had confirmed that the mail was not delivered but they could not find it. I asked if they had asked the mail carrier of the January 20th as to what happened to the mail that day. Mrs. ** told me that the carrier was off that day.

As I was talking to Mrs. **, there were other people inquiring about their mails too, especially green cards, and working permits. I could not understand how mails of the same types from the same place could be missing from the Northwest Plano, post office in Texas, unless someone is taking or stealing people's green cards and working permits in the mail for unknown reasons. Is it possible that the manager of the post office and every employee at the post office benefits from the mail fraud. I asked to speak to the manager, but was told she was not around. Mrs. ** took my name and telephone number and she said the manager would call me.

In the evening, when I did not get any call from the post office manager, I went back to the Northwest Plano post office to inquire about the mail that we were expecting from the immigration and Citizen services at Corbin. I met another gentleman, who worked at the post office. He searched again and returned that he was unable to find the mail at the post office. He promised to speak to the carrier the following day as soon as the carrier arrived at work. He also promised that the manager would call me. I asked for the name of the manager and I was told that her name is Vivian **. I asked to speak with her. The gentleman left and returned to tell me that the manager said she would call me. She never called me or my wife. It appears that the Northwest Plano, Texas' post office manager is too proud to talk to us or care about our missing mail.

On January 22nd, 2015, we went back to the post office to inquire if they have found my wife's green card. One of the employee, by the name of Randy ** told me that they are still searching for the missing mail. I asked if they had spoken to the mail carrier of January 20th, 2015, he said that they did; and that the mail carrier said she did not see the mail. I asked to speak to the manager again, and I was told she would call us.

I met more people at the post office during the three days I went to the post office searching for mails including green cards and immigration documents since December 2014, and the post office at Northwest Plano, Texas, have not been able to locate them. In my opinion, my fear is that employee or employees at the Northwest Plano post office are running illegal business of selling other people mails, especially green cards, credit cards, working permits. How else can anyone explain how mails, especially green card could arrived at a post office and was confirmed physically to arrived, and the mails disappeared on the day it was out for delivery?

It is appalling that mails are missing at this post office and no one is concern about it. Please, I implore you to look into this illegal act ongoing at this Northwest Plano post office in Texas. Please, help us to find the missing green card at the post office and put an end to this illegal act of stealing people's mail at this Northwest Plano, post office. The manager has never been around and has never called us. I guess she is a god in her own eyes. No delivery status has been updated about the item till now.

He said on Monday, he was going to have the postal carrier check another address it may have been delivered to instead. My son's address starts with 233 and the supv was going to have him check 333. I told him that was nice, it'll be gone by then. And, now what is my son supposed to do, fail his classes because he doesn't have his required textbooks because the USPS can't deliver packages directly??! I am going to call the St George Police Dept because someone wasn't honest enough to give it back out give it to my son, if they know him! Hence, they stole it! The post office in Idaho Falls, ID based on their tracking information could not see where the problem occurred. When I asked for my $5.75 for not having my envelope delivered on time I was informed I did not "pay for guaranteed services." The receipt printed out by USPS was 19 inches long. The "disclaimer statement" is 13.25 inches from the top. There is a lot of USPS propaganda in between.

Of course I was given an apology by the customer service representative of USPS. Most legitimate businesses would have handed back the $5.75 but that is not my concern. As with a good number, if not all, the problems expressed on the Consumer Affairs site the core problem to me is minimal lack of quality in the USPS system. And as an outcome of that lack of quality, there is no effort to improve. Quality is meeting or exceeding customer expectation.

I have gone to the Post office to claim my mail and ask where my mail is with tracking number. All I get is it says delivered and it should be in your box. People have very bad attitudes and are not very helpful. I am very frustrated that this post office is losing all my mail. I have also received a lot of other people's mail in my box. It has other people's PO Box number on it so I know the mail person is the one putting the items in the wrong boxes. I spend a lot of money on merchandise that is delivered to me at this mail place. I could never get a refund because sender always have tracking numbers and they know merchandise has been delivered. I need someone to look into to this immediately because I'm sure I'm not the only one having these problems.

I live in an apartment building with about 24 total apartments. The USPS has failed numerous times to deliver our mail. On one occasion, none of us received any mail for an entire week! Several of us complained and was told that the mail carrier didn't have a key, this was a lie. But, if that was the case, why didn't he ring any of our apartments - we ALL have a buzzer which is located at the main entrance. It is easily accessible right at the main entrance in plain sight! Also, they are just too lazy to deliver our packages! Even though we are home, more times than I can count, they enter the following into the tracking history: "NO ONE AT HOME - NOT ABLE TO DELIVER". This happened AGAIN today as I waited after calling the post office with the promise that it's "OUT FOR DELIVERY"! I paid extra in order to get this package TODAY, but of course, I did not!

Our complaints land on deaf ears, as we continue to have problems. ALL we want is to have our mail delivered on a timely manner. We have decided to get a petition together and DO SOMETHING! We are not going to settle for substandard service while the cost of postage continues to rise. We pay their salaries & provide them with great benefits, in exchange for abysmal "service" at best. Also, they all are in need of an attitude adjustment! I reside in Elyria, Ohio, my neighbors and I rate our post office the worst thing about our little town.

First - my certified return receipt passport renewal was lost after the Opa Locka scan. HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN? Then my daughter got an envelope from her physician in Boston that was supposed to contain her prescription. We received an envelope that had been ripped open and it was empty. Then I sent three packages - all thick envelopes to customers who bought makeup kits. None of the three envelopes reached the customer. One in Texas, One in Maryland and one in Virginia. I had to resend makeup at my lost via FedEx just to make sure it arrived. YOU HAVE SOMEONE STEALING MAIL AND TAMPERING WITH MAIL IN OPA LOCKA... Send in under cover agents and get it cleaned up. The local Postmaster at the Greenville post office told me on 01-20-15 that ALL mail has been forwarded to the CFS beginning January 6th and each and every day since, yet we have not received a single piece of mail. A telephone call (50 minutes long) to 1-800-ASK-USPS resulted in more questions and no answers as to why we haven't received any mail. Nobody knows where the mail goes or who has the final responsibility to get it to my new zip code.

I find it truly amazing that nobody has any idea how this system is supposed to work. To say that I am angry is an understatement and this whole situation is totally unacceptable. USPS is wasting "millions" on advertising about all the services they offer while they are "billions" in debt and they have lost sight of their primary mission...DELIVERING THE MAIL!!!! The package was received in New York State on 19 December 2014 and forwarded from their Garden City facility on 20 December 2014. With no delivery after 21 days, and tracking still showing "package en route" from Garden City, I contacted the USPS. I was told that although the package was received by the USPS in USA and entered into their tracking system, a search would have to be initiated by the sender in Egypt via the Egyptian postal service- figure that one out!

Big course the USPS paid the $50 insurance but the books are lost and I don't understand how a box of books can just disappear and no one seems interested in helping. Because of the outsourcing of the legwork of FedEx - an operation who WILL deliver to my office - there are very expensive computer components being shipped back to California from South Carolina. The post office simply will not deliver to my office, citing the lack of a mail receptacle, regardless of whether or not it would fit in it to start with. Knowing this, I attempted to retrieve my items from the local branch, and was greeted after having to ring the counter bell multiple times.

When the woman came to the counter, she was very rude. When I asked her if she could check for my items, she refused, citing that there were "70 to 80 packages" she would have to sort through. When I checked the tracking information this morning, I discovered that my items had been returned to sender due to an invalid address, and what they mean by that is there is no mail receptacle at this location. This is unacceptable if the USPS plans to continue a contract to deliver packages for a ground shipping company who would deliver to the address I initially provided.

I was told the local mail facility would look into it and respond within 24 hours. Not. I made a visit to the local facility and they took my info. I called several times and they took my info....everyone at the local facility knows who I am and why I am calling. All to no avail and still no package. I am an honest person and I used to believe there was still good in the world. After reading on this site and learning this is NORMAL procedure, I am so distressed. I also believe there are two possible options. 1) the package was delivered to the wrong address and they just kept it or 2) the postal employee kept it. Since no one will investigate their employees (even though there are multiple complaints of disappearing mail) I guess I too am a victim of Postal fraud/thief. How sad that we live in a society where you cannot trust the USPS to deliver something without stealing it. May God deliver the correct punishment to these common thieves.

I am not sure the exact date delivery stopped, but it has been more than a week. We moved to a new state & had our mail forwarded from the old house. Once we arrived & got the mailbox keys to our new place, to our delight, our mail was there waiting for us! To the credit of USPS, that part worked great! After a little over a month, the box was empty every day. We were not even receiving the weekly ads. It was strange, but not alarming. Then I received a call from the auto insurance. Our mail was returned as "Not at this address" / "Unable to Forward." I am now also missing 2 packages from eBay, both marked as "Delivered."

Going to the local post office was no help whatsoever. The post office informed us that they had never delivered mail to us at the new address, and we needed to put an official card in the mailbox to have mail delivered. This was odd, since we had mail with the yellow forwarding sticker on it, but were told that was not possible.

Okay, I asked for the official card I needed to put in my mailbox. They don't have any, and the card must be from that post office. I can't use one from a different location. Seriously? Perhaps I am talking to someone who is having a really bad day. May I speak to the postmaster please? No. This may be one of the post offices where people are placed as punishment. I tried to put a handwritten note in the mailbox with our names on it thinking that may satisfy the requirement. Today, no mail again. I filed a problem report on USPS.COM. The site states to allow up to 3 business days for a reply.

While waiting, I plan to re-visit that office & try again to speak to the postmaster. New day, new chance. If I receive the same attitude, I'll try a different office, and escalate to the county postmaster if needed. If that does not work, I'll keep going postal inspector, write the congresspersons, etc. I'll give the normal channels a chance first. To Consumer Affairs - please don't try to mail me anything! LOL. If this gets resolved, I'll edit this post (assuming I can edit a post). Thank you!

I pay a premium and my packages have arrived at the same time they would have using Priority Mail.

If I would have shipped Federal Express I could have depended on it getting there. When I ask for a refund of the premium they tell me that it was a destination that takes 2 days. It should tell you that when you print your label online. If it did you would not use USPS and you would use a carrier that you can depend on for on time delivery.

I went to post office and explained what was happening and asked if I could come and pick it up? Delivery isn't until 2:30 pm. Barb told me “No.” Then she would have to do this for everyone. After begging her and explaining again, she said, "Well call her in the morning."

After a couple days we finally got it. She has treated me like I didn't deserve to live. Then at Christmas I sent 24 cards out and she charged me $0.91 each. Okay. I then had 4 more. Had another person. She charged me $0.60 each. I consulted and she got mad and snotty. Well if it was an ounce more. Then I just received a slip that there was a package at the post office waiting to be picked up. Paid for already.

I went there and had to stand in line. A lady had 6 boxes. The man said, "I will be right with you." I said, "No problem." The lady left and then I handed my slip to the man and he went for my package. BARB FOLLOWED. The man came back and said, "My boss will help you." I said, "Okay, thank you." She came back out and gave it to him and said, "When he is done he will help you."

I LOST IT! I said, "Can't I just have my package? It is paid for." Well you should have heard her. "Oh sure, you're special." I said "I'm not waiting in line again!" She just kept going on and on!!! Please help. From what I understand, I am not alone! A lot of the people here in Island Lake are going to Wauconda post office now because they hate her!

I write USPS also, and they gave me another case number: **, but I don't have any answer from anybody. There is a lost package I supposed you delivered at November 17, 2014, 3:06 pm at Front Door/Porch, according with the tracking number: **, but I didn't receive yet and you couldn't delivered a front door porch, because all my package arrived at mailbox office and I received another package the same day 30 minutes before by USPS postal service. Here is the tracking number: ** (this package is the Pascal Campion Art book).

But after I called USPS costumer service last Friday the tracking number stopped to work. The status item in this package was different (Status Item: Delivered at Mailbox Office). Maybe because this package was delivered in the right place. I added a picture with the book and the label on the box as proof that I received the package. I hope a person from USPS will read this complaint and contact me with answer or good news. It is very disappointing that happens, because many packets have been delivered by you to my office mailbox.

What should have been an expedited passport is now taking twice as long and I will now have to watch my identity!!! Identity fraud here we go. Someone has all of my information to use and your nice people at the post office Juliann said that the address they think they delivered it to, there was a language barrier between the postman and the person at the address. So he and his supervisor were going to visit the address, so call tonight and I will know something.

So I called at 3:30 and guess what? Julian was gone for the day. The girl Jennifer said she had been there all day with him and did not know anything about it. So I asked to speak to the supervisor of Juliann. Get this, he is the manager of the location. So nice that these people do not take their jobs seriously. Jennifer said she would have him call me tomorrow. Well today is Thursday. My passport was supposed to be delivered last Friday!!!

Horrible service. I have spoken with Mr. Juliann a few times for a few days. Now he is always supposed to call me back, never happens. I wonder how he would act if this was his identity and passport that you have to have. This has been an unforgettable experience!!! To top this all off I needed it now to go and get my child but I guess now my kid has to wait because mommy will be delayed a few more weeks because someone couldn't deliver our mail. What a nice thing to happen with a sick child. But no one cares...

And when I filed for my daughter's passport 3 weeks after filing I call on an expedited passport... Guess what? The copy of my husband's ID was not with her paperwork either!!! It was there when we sent in all of the paperwork at the post office. Now guess what? I have to send a copy of my husband's ID so that they can finish processing my daughter's passport!!! Really three weeks later they find out they don’t have everything!!! The post office is not what it used to be. People used to care about their jobs and doing a good job, not anymore. They lose many things I see now and then it takes us the customer longer to get the stuff we paid for back, double the time for simple mistakes, someone needing to take a few more minutes to do their job...

I can't say how many times I've complained about issues with the mail over the years because it has been many. This time the idiot temp decided to deliver my mail and package to a home with people that are away for weeks. All they said was sorry. But it went into a mail slot. They left a note. Big deal. Time and time again, they try shove the blame on others. The Post Master there is useless and by no means, qualifies as a Post Master or management. She blames everyone but herself and does nothing. Constantly missing packages, wet mail, carriers that cannot match house numbers, poorly trained employees and carriers, you name it. They simply do not care! I guess they figure, 'you don't like it, find someone else'.... Yea, we are stuck with them. Where we going to go?

Anyway, I had a small item in this last delivery that was only worth $20+. But how do I explain to the company that the item went to the wrong home when the PO tracking says it was delivered to the mailbox. When they screw up my priority mail deliveries and tell them I want a refund, they back pedal out of that too. I've contacted the head Post Master General in DC and all they do is forward the complaint to the local Post Master in Little Falls. Back to square one.

Unreal! How the hell can they be held accountable when there is nobody that is willing to do something? I'm considering contacting our Attorney General and Senators cause at this point, what do I do? In summary, they don't care about their jobs, their patrons or anything and we are stuck with it. Maybe take it away from the government and make it a business. Major carriers like FedEx, UPS and others make mistakes but far and in between. But at least they fix their problems. In the case of common mail delivery, we are all screwed.

I've been awaiting a very expensive and very important package. I'm in a bit of a time crunch but I felt 3 weeks was a good amount of time to expect a package. I was wrong. If there is a hell, it is the US postal service. My mailman never leaves packages even after specifically asked and makes no attempt to ring my apartment building number. So with this specific package, I received the dreaded pink slip of death telling me my package would be available at my local post office.

Before driving there, I attempted to call to make sure my package was there. Phone lines were busy from 12pm- 4pm. After reading other reviews, I quickly realized the phone lines are always busy. Sucked it up and drove to the post office. Waited in line for upwards of 45 minutes with at least 20 other angry and unhappy customers behind me. Finally got to the front desk only to watch the postal worker take my slip, walk to the back, lean against a wall, and return 5 minutes later saying "she couldn't locate my package". I asked in disbelief what she expects me to do, she responded with "I don't know. Have a nice day ma'am. NEXT!".

I returned home, absolutely fuming, I attempted to call customer service to explain my situation. Unfortunately, customer service does not exist. It is a gigantic loop of never ending automated and UNHELPFUL how-to's which always circle around eventually hanging up on. The Post Office does NOT care about your mail. Their website is a joke. Half of the buttons don't function correctly. I think it's safe to say the post service in North Korea is more efficient than the United States postal service. This independent company, which services the entire United States, makes me embarrassed to call myself an American.

I sent a package from Cape Cod Massachusetts to South Berwick Maine on Dec 15, 2014. The package was insured. It's not been delivered. Using the tracking number it was last scanned at the Hub postal complex in Boston - that was on December 19, 2014. The package had a fair monetary value but a considerably more sentimental value - irreplaceable really. The recipient of this package also looked into the missing mail, and was told that it's impossible for things to go missing - someone would lose their job. And has actually questioned whether or not the package was actually sent. It's caused strain on a very old friendship. I have been able to file a claim but was told it would take 60-90 days before I could expect any rectification. I'm not as concerned with the return from insurance, but more how the postal service lacks responsibility and the stress it causes with the after effects. As I read some of the other consumers complaints it's fair to say a lot of Christmases were affected by poor service and lack of customer service, professionalism, and accountability. It goes a lot further than a missing package.

Since a new carrier started our route, it's been a nightmare. Getting our mail at 8pm, if at all, getting neighbors mail, packages are being peeked at by blatantly poking a hole with her finger through the bag (luckily she's not a big reader). She admitted (to her boss who accepted this excuse) to placing a package on the wrong porch intentionally and trusting that the neighbors would do her job for her. After 4 months of consistently filing complaints I am finally ready to take action against this as much as possible.

    Updated on 03/26/2015:

After receiving legal advise about what I can do to start building a case against my mail carrier and local office. I made the mistake of thinking this was unnecessary and the problem could be solved by speaking AGAIN to my local post office. The result of this has been my mail carrier has stopped delivering my mail, I am only receiving mail 3 days a week. In a way this makes it easier to get the carrier fired because now I am told all I have to do is mail a couple things to myself over the next couple weeks, and voila! No more lazy mail carrier who has been lying to her bosses and employee investigators, and collecting a paycheck for doing half of a job. Warning to all York, PA mail carriers, one of you is about to be unemployed.

I sent out my kids' and granddaughters' Christmas presents on Dec 11th 2014. I mistakenly wrote down the wrong address (how the stamps.com allowed an undeliverable address, I don't know). Anyway, sent from FL to Seattle. Package sat in the state of FL from 11th-15th, made it to Seattle on 12-20, so I called Seattle to give them correct address and they said it was returned to sender (how they sent back same day is beyond me). Anyway, tracking shows arrived back in Miami on 12-30 and business was closed (it was not, we received other mail that day). Tracking showed will be delivered next day (was not), called 800 # because site doesn't show local phone # and they put in system to redeliver on 1-5. Still didn't get so called again, they put in case # and gave me local # which I tried to call and just kept ringing.

Called 800 again on the 6th, gave me another case #, said it would be delivered on the 7th because they escalated the case - still no package. Called today local # which another agent said was the correct #, they said they would look for it and call me back at 10:30 this morning. Never received a call back so now I am on phone while they look for it again. They think it may have been sent to Seattle again (you know, the undeliverable address!). It is almost 30 days and no one can locate the package and receiver still hasn't gotten package nor have I. If it is ever found, I still have to send it to correct address in Seattle and after paying $17.71 for Priority Mail, will have to pay UPS for package to be delivered. Will never send out anything USPS again!!!!

My grandmother sent me $200 as a gift. She sent it on January 3 and dropped it off at the post office in plenty of time to make it on the truck. The money was disguised. However, it's January 8, the mail has run and surprise surprise, no letter. There's no reason for a letter sent from two hours away should take this long to arrive. My mother mailed me a card on January 3, it still isn't here. There's no way for me to file a complaint or track anything so I'm screwed. This has been happening for months. The usps seems to be able to deliver junk mail daily, but they can't seem to deliver anything that I need. I requested information from several colleges that haven't arrived over a month later. Some of my bills have been delivered well past their due dates. The usps is a joke.

My sister sent a Christmas gift to me worth more than $100. She went to USPS gift wrapped, Insurance and gift wrapped. She sent it on 17th Dec for two day delivery but it was never delivered. On top of it, USPS driver did not leave a notice about the package delivery. We had to track it to find out the package shows it was delivered. When I contacted the USPS they gave a case and asked to contact the local post office and the local post office said it was delivered to leasing office. I was given a run around for a week and said someone from local post office will call me with the case number given to me but no one called until I called back on 01/06/2015.

The rep who spoke to me on 01/06 raised it to USPS Consumer Affairs and said some will contact you and help you. So, I got a call on 01/07. The lady who spoke to me from Consumer Affairs was RUDE and said, “So you think local post office took the package?” And gave me a postal inspection department number to call. The rep at postal inspection raised another case (felony) and advised to claim insurance. Surprisingly, I got a call again from Consumer Affairs on 01/08 and the case number that give to me as felony was closed and the lady said “Why do you complain every day? You think post office took the package,” and gave me a number to contact Postal service inspector general hotline but the options there would never help you reach a human - any option we select just ends with a disconnect tone.

The joy of Christmas is stolen. That is fine but the response from the USPS (not all) is nothing but to humiliate the people who call. Consumers don't call for fun but call with a problem because USPS drivers did not do their job correctly. We do understand the reps at USPS/local post office might hear these kind of complaints everyday but for the consumer it might be just one. All I request is we don't intentionally call or complain but to seek help of something that is expected because shipping price was paid and a service is demanded. I don't expect to hear back from anyone but HOPE THIS WILL BE AN EYE OPENER.

I feel so angry and disappointed with the USPS. I never entrust them to deliver my packages again. This past Christmas, my grandmother mailed me a package through the USPS. Around the day it was supposed to arrive, the postman knocked on my door, shoved a package into my arms and started walking quickly away. As the box wasn't the size I was expecting, I looked at the name and address. The box had neither my name nor my address on it. I called the postman back and told him he had the wrong person and address. Days went by and then weeks and I never received my package. I think what happened is the postman delivered my package to the wrong apartment and unfortunately that person was not as honest as I am and they didn't say anything. My grandmother never got a tracking number because she trusted the USPS.

The postman should be trained to double check the address and ask if it is the correct person. Also, I feel the postman should be held responsible for being careless when delivering packages. This is a service that we are paying for. After this experience I will try not to use the USPS anymore. FedEx is a much better option. If we all stand together and stop using the USPS, they will go out of business and hopefully a better business will take its place. We don't need the USPS. It's a government owned business and it's being run as such. Let's begin using private mailing companies.

I have no outgoing box for me to mail my letters so I am supposed to leave them on the outside and hope someone picks them up. No thank you, so I decide to drive my letter to the post office myself. What a joke, I follow the instructions on the website and I arrive at what is a business only post office. There is no way to drop a letter or even buy a stamp. I am now supposed to try and track down another post office when I am very busy and do not have time.

What the problem is there is no longer the blue pickup boxes, they are nonexistent in my area. I have not seen one but at a library and that was sealed and had a sign saying out of order. So how am I supposed to send a letter if there is no drop box and my carrier never shows up on a regular schedule? I remember the days and they were not that long ago for I am only 35 that a mail carrier dropped off my mail, rang the bell, and ask if there was anything else I needed. Amazing how something so simple as customer service can be lost in such a short time.

I used to receive all mail, but now if it doesn't have the PO box # on it it's returned. Teresa even said she returns mail addressed to HER if it has her street address. While it may be the regulation, there is no room for any courtesy. The mail makes it to the PO, but it must cost more to return it than to complete the delivery. Unless they're trying to increase revenue by requiring 2 stamps to deliver mail. I would understand if this was a large town, I don't understand why we don't get home delivery. Very disgusted, she should be fired. No people skills. Very defensive and oppositional. Also, my mortgage payment was returned to me in shreds, undelivered & undeliverable. I scarcely know where to begin. The purpose of this post is to explain my numerous bad experiences with the USPS and inform others of the peril they place any mail or packages in when using the USPS. About 3 years ago, I started an online business which requires a lot of shipping. In connection with this business, I ordered well over $100 worth of business-related books from Amazon.com. After placing the order, I forgot about it until a few weeks later and thought "that package should have been here by now". So I went to USPS tracking to see what I could see and saw that according to the USPS, that package had been delivered about 10 days earlier to my home and it even gave the exact time of day. Problem was, I know for a fact I was home all day that day and know for a fact I was in my living room most of that day (doing renovations) and would have clearly heard any delivery. I went to my Post Office to inform them the package had not been delivered as stated on the website and I was told by the always-so-pleasant and helpful-clerk (NOT) that there was nothing they could do, that it was scanned as delivered.

Leaving the post office without satisfaction, I recalled that a retired police officer who lives directly across the street from my home has a video surveillance camera of our entire block at all times. I approached him to ask if he could check his video for that date, which he was happy to do. He played back the entire day's video, paying extra attention to the exact time the USPS allegedly delivered to my home and he saw NO mail carrier on foot OR mail truck stop at my house during that entire day. I went back to the post office armed with that information and I was again told there was nothing that could be done and that I needed to bring in the police officer's video. Since I did not want to further involve or bother my neighbor, I contacted Amazon.com and they sent me a whole new $100 order free of charge and shipped it the second time via UPS. Thanks Amazon.com. More stories to come.

    Updated on 01/07/2015:

As stated in a previous post, I run an online business which requires a great deal of shipping. Unfortunately, the USPS seems the only economical way to ship things. Recently (December 6th to be precise) I sent a package from Philadelphia to Manhattan NY, a mere 99 miles north. On the 16th of December, the customer contacted me stating she had not received her order and that when she tracked the package it showed that it was currently in San Juan, Puerto Rico! I checked and that proved to be the case. Phone calls to USPS customer service were futile and automated. Further online tracking showed it left San Juan on Dec. 17th and arrived in Long Island NY where it inexplicably remained for another 4 days. The last tracking showed it was finally delivered to the customer in Manhattan on December 24th, 18 days after having been mailed.

Call me a complainer but that is unacceptable and puts me, the seller in a bad light. I sell quality products, I very carefully package everything to avoid damage and breakage and then to have to hand over my hard work to a company and its employees who quite obviously don't care is distressing. I hate that I have no control over the package containing my work once it leaves my hands. I have found myself crossing my fingers and hoping for the best (a miracle) every time I leave a package with USPS. Wish I earned the salary and benefits this "dedicated" company and its employees do. Therefore, I am all for privatization of the USPS, perhaps that would initiate the necessary changes.

I of course did not agree to that and was told then that there was nothing they can do about it now especially since the box was not insured. Now I believe the insurance issue is beside the point as someone at the post office changed the address on the box . Insurance or not, the truth is that the address on the box was changed (I know my mother's address) - someone either purposely or accidentally changed the address. The trust has been breached and someone should be held accountable. As am writing you, I still can't hold back the tears. It's hard to just sit and let go when you have been wronged and overpowered by a trusted agency as USPS. Tuesday December 23, 2014, still no mail, so I called the USPS. Customer service rep wanted to confirm my address, so I did. He then said there was no suite number on the USPS priority small flat box, and the building that I'm in have suites. My question is, if my mail didn't have the suite number on it, the mail carrier will not know where to put my mail because we have mail boxes in our building, so where did the mail carrier put it? And claimed that it was scanned delivered to me?

So, I figured I'd try contacting the building manager to check with other tenants in the building if my mail was mistakenly put into their mail box, but no one receive it either. I was told that a USPS supervisor will call me back, and as of today, nothing. I called again today which is my 3rd attempt, and still nothing. I asked what can I do next, the customer rep said that there's a consumer affairs department that I can contact, so I'm hoping I will get some answers to where the mail carrier delivered my mail. This is SO FRUSTRATING because first of all, it was a Christmas gift for my daughter. I had to tell her that USPS lost her gift or probably stolen it. At this point, I hate to say this, but till my mail is right in front of me, I'm thinking the mail carrier stole my mail. I'm very disappointed.

Only 2 of the packages arrived, 50% success rate is not good and then to make matters worse when we called the post office they were beyond rude. The woman almost hung up on us twice! And, it was their fault! Also to note, we had tracking numbers for both priority packages and one of them said that it was out for delivery but was never updated past that point.

When we inquired we were told that the post woman was reputable and that she would not just neglect to deliver our package. I have no doubt that the post woman was a great employee but the bottom line was that the package was missing and it did no good to have a tracking number if it didn't actually track the package. People are human and they make mistakes, I get that but the fact that the post office didn't apologize once or even try to be accommodating in helping us locate our package was infuriating. These packages cannot be replaced and a little bit of help or acknowledgement of their mistake would have been nice. It is no surprise that the US post office is suffering, they should, their service and performance is sub par to say the least.

The only reason the tea press was not removed, I believe, was I had tied the handles of the gift bag with ribbon and the box was too big to slide out with out untying the ribbon. My sister told me it had arrived but she didn't know something was missing until we talked later on and again I had disposed of the USPO priority receipt before I knew. The tea was worth $12. My fault for not keeping receipts but no excuse to the vandalism by a P.O. employee. I have sent numerous packages to other people during those same times and had no problems. It's their employer's fault and now they won't respond!!! WTH, I am very disappointing with their service, this happened in the Woburn, MA. (main USPS).

When will package stop vanishing while in the hands of postal workers? I do not like this magic trick at all! How is this reply of any help in recovery: In researching your Case I see that they could not find your item. This service is brought to the Post Office and picked up by an agent. Once in the hands of the agent the Post Office has no control. There is zero accountability. If the system is broken, corruption exists.

According to tracking number all 3 packages for 2 different names were delivered on December 27th in/at mail box. Nothing was delivered on that day! And after many calls and e-mails to USPS.com and local post office, I was finally told that they are apologize but there is nothing they can do!!! Are you serious??? Because all packages had no insurance, I can't even file a claims. So, is it ok for USPS to lose your mail without any responsibility?

My friend made me a Stuffed Animal for Christmas. She put her heart into it. She sent it, went to the post office Dec 19, they said it would be sent out the 20th since the last truck left for the day. It's 1/2/15 and it's not here. She didn't get a tracking number since she has never had a problem.. How does it take 13 days.. almost 2 weeks to send from New York to Michigan. I'm very angry about this.

I order a package to be delivered as "First Class Mail" and when the package arrive, I find an envelope crammed into my mail box. When I pull the item out I discover that it had been ripped open and taped back up without my order inside. The envelope also had several red stamped messages on it saying "RECEIVED WITHOUT CONTENTS AT", another two stamps said "DAMAGED IN HANDLING IN THE POSTAL SERVICE". Now, I am going to have to deal with the company I purchased the product from to see if they will replace the object, and call my credit card company to disagree with the transaction with the company fails to replace the item, and also the U.S. Postal Service. A lot of trouble for such a small package.

Today, December 31, 2014, I needed to mail an envelope before the end of the year. The Post Office in Edwards Colorado, 81632, posted hours are closing at 4:30 pm. I arrived at 4:25 pm today December 31, 2014 and the post office was shut tight. THEY WERE NOT OPEN. I verify the time on my phone by accessing the time. Maybe somebody should make the USPS accountable for their actions. Either that or fire all of them, like Reagan did with the traffic controllers and get in people who will work instead or complain. The service here stinks.

I had 2 parcels delivered to me for the holidays here in MD. The first of the 2 arrives the day after Christmas, but that would not be too bad except that no one was at the house to sign. Not usually a big deal, however, when I went to the local post office to pick it up, things went really wrong. The first time I went in, they looked at me and said it was too early, I would have to come back the next day and that they would not even look to see if it was there until then. The second day, I go in, give the notice and my Drivers license, at which time they refuse to look for or hand over my parcel because I am not from here and my home address is not where I was having it shipped to. But it is addressed to me. That parcel was several hundred dollars, and I had to call customer service several times and threaten legal action in order to finally get it in Monday. Tuesday 21/29/2014, the second parcel was supposed to be delivered. It is coming from an APO in Japan. Fearing that I would be faced with the same issue, I rushed back to the house leaving work in order to be at the house to sign for it. Carrier never showed. So I left a note with the tracking number, who the package is to, who it is from, and my signature asking that the parcel be left on the porch.

I return after work to find out that not only did they not deliver, they wrote on my note for them that they need a signature.....RIGHT UNDER MY SIGNATURE. Now I am faced with the same issue, where if I go to the post office to pick it up, it is very likely that they will again refuse to hand me my parcel. The postal service is paid to deliver to people, wherever they might be. Not to decide that a person traveling or having an extended stay away from their home should not get what was sent to them.

I was expecting to receive two packages on 12/22 from USPS for my Christmas presents (shoes and purse) valuing over $400. The USPS driver stated it was delivered to my home but she more than likely signed for package with a fake name or had someone else do it. The signature was illegible and only the street name but no street number, city, state, or zip code was on the "signature" to even validate it was delivered to the correct address. The local USPS "researched" the complaint saying they spoke with the driver, and she said it was "delivered" to my home. My boyfriend even stayed home from work the next day to met her at the mailbox and went up to USPS. She told him that an albino man signed for the package.

#1. I was at work & my boyfriend was at work too at 2pm when the package was delivered. #2. No one else lives with us besides my dog. #3. I know my neighbors and no albino men or women live on my street. USPS said she was a fill in driver for the normal driver due to the holidays. I have never had issues with my regular driver. He knows that I work during the day and will place a card in mailbox for me to pickup package which is what she should have done. I filed a complaint but of course that got me nowhere. The person that called me about the complaint on 12/30 hung up in my face when I told her that they need to research some more because I didn't sign for it since I wasn't home and no one else lives with me. I go online to check the status and case was closed! Awful, terrible customer service!

How can they close the case if the address on the signature wasn't even complete and the signature was just a first initial and last name plus I wasn't satisfied with their answer?! Just because it says delivered doesn't mean it was delivered to me in my hands! USPS postmaster is a joke and probably is aware of who stole my package as well as the multiple theft issues that occur during Christmas. I filed a complaint with the inspector general, will be filing a police report so hopefully I will not be responsible for the credit card charges.

Once again a mail carrier lost my mail and had the nerve to mark it as 'delivered'. I called the post office at least 10 times and no one answered. I faxed them a letter and got back nothing. I then left work early to go there and after spending close to an hour on the line, the very sarcastic and incompetent manager, who was annoyed that I pulled him away from what looked like his 9th meal of the day, took my phone number and brushed me off with a "we'll get back to you". I got no answers as to what happened to my package, who delivered it, where it was delivered and what would be done to resolve the problem.

I'm tired of fishing out other people's mail out of my mailbox and having to deliver them myself, sometimes blocks away. I'm sick of my money orders being stolen and my neighbors having to bring me my mail that was put in their mailboxes. It's frustrating to say the very least. The usps should be ashamed of their lack of professionalism. Hire people that can focus on their job.

I mailed an EXPRESS LETTER from Wash DC to my mother in Ellenwood GA on the morning of Monday December 22, 2014. The Letter did not arrive until Friday 26, 2014. On Tuesday December 30, 2014 I returned to the Benjamin Franklin Station Post Office (2nd time at this location the 1st was the afternoon of Tuesday December 23, 2014) to track the package at which time I was told that they had 2-days to deliver an express mail package?!?! A fact that was not disclosed at the time I paid for the service) as well as the Post office located across the street from the White House 17th Street I presume and was told that they had 3 days to deliver an express mail package because it was the holiday (again, information that was not disclosed to me until after the fact).

My complaint is that I paid for Express mail service which was not rendered nor was it disclosed that said service could not be guaranteed AT THE TIME OF THE PURCHASE, I feel as though the United States Postal Service was deceptive and irresponsible for taking money and issuing a written contract (my receipt) stating that they would deliver my package under the guidelines of EXPRESS MAIL SERVICE AND I WOULD LIKE TO BE REFUNDED FOR THE FAILED SERVICE!
