For the past week or so, I've been trying to send a stupid package to get a refund or exchange for a product that I didn't really like. So I bought a USPS shipping label and printed it at home and tried to send the package off by scheduling a pickup. I don't know who the mailman or woman is but they just DON'T TAKE MY PACKAGE. I'll choose Knock on door/ring bell. They refuse to come up to my apartment and ask for the package? I mean my door is always open when they should be coming which should let them know that me or at least someone else is home.
So they failed to pick that up 2-3 times for whatever reason. So I decide to schedule another pickup with "leave in mailbox" option. So I do. Instead I find out at like 10 PM that the moron that put in the mail that day decided to leave the package they were supposed to take in there and just stuff the rest of the mail in, completely ignoring the pickup request. I was extremely busy that week and was hoping to take advantage of such a useful service. If you can't pick it up, either fire the person and hire someone else or just get rid of the service that you're incapable of completing.

6/11/2016. The only reason I gave a star is because I had to give something. I would have given negative ten stars if I could have. I placed four pieces of mail in the stamped letters box on Tuesday. Two pieces of the mail were directly to a P.O. box at this location. As of Friday they were not delivered. I went to this post office this morning to replace the checks that were lost and to talk about why I was concerned about my missing mail. The young man whose name tag only said trainee was very helpful and apologized for the inconvenience. Then the snarky smart mouthed clerk next to him decided to jump in and take her chance to be the rude nasty employee of the government we have all been trained to expect. She informed me that if I had used the "misboxed mail" container instead of the stamped letters box it would have been Golden to Golden.
Since I used the stamped letters box it had to be routed to Denver and then all the way back. What a messed up deal. No wonder they're going broke. They are handling the same mail at the same location two or three times to get it to a P.O. box that is in the location it is mailed from. Not a very efficient system at all. It reminds me of a great example of a horrible idea. Epic Fail. Their messed up system and secret Golden to Golden mailbox ended up costing me $135 to place stop payments on the checks and pay late fees due to their inept and careless handling of my mail and I have no recourse. USPS = useless sorry pieces of **.

As an international recipient, there was absolutely no communication or apology for delay of express delivery. I had to do my own digging around to figure out where my parcel was. I came across this website, which gave a clear account of the issues as to why USPS should NEVER be used for international deliveries (at least to the UK). This is dated from 2012 but I can confirm that they have made no steps to rectify this: **.
Trying to get through to anyone is impossible within the company. All costs fall upon YOU - so you have to pay international charges to call them to complain. Trying to complain in writing is impossible because: 1) the online form requires you to put in a US address, and when you try and select the country box, US isn't even in there so you can't actually submit an online form; 2) there is no email address so you have to search for it. I've subsequently been bounced three different emails all claiming that they're 'not the right department', and you are reverted back to the same form that you can't send, or are forced to call them at your expense. As such, I can't claim a refund.
Absolutely the worst delivery service that I've come across. would suggest using other carriers that are better equipped to handle international deliveries. Can't comment on domestic deliveries. I'd like to note that I don't ever write online reviews but given the incredibly poor service that I've been given here, I felt compelled.

We are moving in a few weeks and submitted change of address forms online - the effective date is a few weeks from now and then we receive notification that it can take 7-10 days after that to go into effect. Okay, so when we received no mail yesterday just wanted to make sure they weren't already forwarding mail to a home we don't live in but trying to get someone on the phone turns out to be a nightmare. The 1-800 numbers suggests you call the local office. My local branch after many repeated dialings and busy signals tells me to call our main city branch - main city branch is either busy or rings and rings and then an answering machine comes on to tell you that no one is answering the phone (duh!) and disconnects you. I can see the only real solution is to go there and stand on line but when do I have time? Here's hoping the folks we are buying our new home from are kind of enough to hold on to mail for us.

Lately I'm having problems with delivery of the items I sold on eBay. One package was shipped by Priority Mail, going from OH to IL. The route was as follows: OH to MO to KS - then to MO again, and finally to IL. It took SIX DAYS to deliver a one-pound Priority Mail package over the initial distance of about 400 miles that I would cover in 8 hours. The other one was shipped on May 30, is now in transit as of June 2nd. It goes by First Class Mail from OH to FL but somehow went to PA first. The last scan was yesterday, telling me that it left PA but that's it. I'm hoping that it didn't go to Alaska or somewhere like this. Here's to hoping it's on its way straight down south to FL. Can't trust USPS anymore.

I was wondering if you could look into something I have been fighting for. It was a year in March. My son was trying to beat a drug addiction. I mailed him Walmart and an Olive Garden gift card for his birthday. He never received it. I also paid the money to have it insured. When they took the money for the envelope we insured they never asked what was in it. We traced it to the West Palm Beach post office. I went through all of the instructions and filed a claim several times. They denied it and I appealed it. They said they denied it because of a Domestic mail manual section 609.4.3aa).
Who gets these manuals and what people are familiar with their rule? They didn't hand us anything stating this rule nor did they ask what was in the envelope. $150.00 may not seem like much to them but when you have a child with a drug addiction it financially drains you. I have called and written and have only gotten the same runaround. I was hoping you may be able to help. I wonder how many others are out there that this has happened to. Thank you.

I placed an order from Jewelry Square which is located in Brooklyn, NY. My shipping location is Hyattsville, MD which is up to a 4 hour drive from Brooklyn, NY. The expected delivery date went from Thursday May 26 to unknown. I contacted USPS customer service and they said there was a glitch in the system - the package never made it to Hyattsville, MD. I cannot understand how my package made it to the Hyattsville, MD USPS on May 24th and was not delivered. I went back to track my package on the 25th and there was no update. I checked back on May 26th and it says my package has been delayed. My package arrived in Jackson, Mississippi at 4:18 p.m on May 26th. It now shows that it had departed Jackson, Mississippi May 27th at 4:52 a.m.
As of today May 28th, I have contacted USPS in reference to my package. I was told my package made was scanned in Hyattsville, MD and they couldn't tell me how my package ended up off route because they do not know the routes the delivery trucks take. This is completely unacceptable. My package was supposed to be delivered to me in 3-5 business days. It was shipped on May 23rd and they say it should be delivered by Tuesday May 31st. USPS really needs to do better! I took a screenshot of my order and electronic receipt. It states the file is not allowed. If someone could connect me via the email address I could forward my electronic receipt to show proof of purchase.

I called this location because this is where my package was last scanned in. My phone call consisted of the lady telling me that my package was never sent and never there. "How can this be when I tracked my package online," I asked. She insisted that my package was not there. After hanging up the phone because the conversation was obviously getting nowhere, I reported them to the BBB. I did this because (1) I was LIED to and (2) because what I had sent to me was ammunition and I did not want that stuff on the streets.

No wonder USPS is in the red year after year. Their service is awful!!! I did a 3 day certified letter which didn't leave the home city until after 48hrs!! At day 6 the tracking said delivery "was delayed" for some unknown reason. Now, after 7 days the letter finally went to be delivered... And since no one was there they left a notice. Granted, OK, it's requiring a signature. But I'm BEYOND steaming at this point. WILL NEVER USE USPS for IMPORTANT mail EVER AGAIN!!!

I received a package on May 6, 2016. There was a key in my mailbox and as I went to open a parcel, there was another key for another parcel. The parcels are labeled "1p" and "2p" and there's 5 of them next to one another and when I spoke to a supervisor she said it can go into any parcel. So basically we are playing a guessing game trying to figure out where our package is. The key gets stuck and it might not even be our package or it could be someone else's. Packages are getting lost or stolen because of them. Every time I call, it's a busy signal and when I go, I'm told something different. I'm lied to. I'm given the runaround. I was told the package will be removed from the parcel and delivered to my home... TWICE for two different packages. Never happened. I asked if someone can call me when they deliver mail so I can get my package. Mail was delivered... I never got that call. They deliver twice because it's a new area.
Every time I go to the post office, someone is there with the same issue and told the same thing. The supervisors are VERY unprofessional. They do not care. They are rude. I've complained. I've been patient. One of the parcels are broken and I told them and they brushed me off. I emailed the company of one of my packages and they basically said I can only get a refund if the post office pays them back. What am I to do now? This is getting out of control. They need to fix this issue NOW! I'm putting a hold on monthly deliveries now because I am worried about losing them.

Our business shipped packages by USPS with insurance. When something happen like package lost, they never pay you back by saying cannot proof the product value. They just taking your insurance premium for insuring nothing. Another stupid thing about their service "intercept a package". When you place the order to intercept a package on their online system. The package never be intercepted and they still taking your fee for the order. USPS is like a mess. NEVER be efficient like other private carriers as ups and Fedex. I would highly recommend that you avoid using the USPS system at all costs. I ordered a package on the 23/03/2016. I was able to track it and found that it had reached customs by 04/04/2016 and was waiting to be cleared. The status then changed to "addressee being notified" (they were suppose to notify me that I had to pay an extra £16 charge to receive my item) which I believe is point blank ridiculous!
To make matters worse I did not receive any further information. I waited a month seeing as the date I needed it for had already passed and it was no longer an emergency for me. I had to chase them up myself. I called three different numbers before I was told I had to contact the closest depot near me. That was when I paid the £16 fee over the phone, this was on 05/05/2016. It was delivered to me the next day. USPS are very sloppy and inefficient. If you do not chase them up for your order you won't receive it for months!

Please opt to use FEDEX or UPS instead of USPS. I have had a horrible experience with the USPS with a lost package and I just wish I had used another mail service. The experience was so horrible with so much red tape within the government, that I am totally disgusted and do not want to deal with them anymore. It's hard to get anyone on the phone. I got all kinds of emails closing my case before it even opened. I went out of my way to get to a post office to fill out paperwork when the woman said she doesn't do it, but I was initially instructed by someone on the phone to go to a post office to fill out paperwork. They were supposed to look for the items in my package but I think that they got rid of my list of stuff and didn't think twice about it. During this process I felt invisible and like there was a lack of caring and organization on their part. Don't want to ever deal with them again. Just a horrible experience all around.

We are supposed to be able to trust you with our packages. We don't pay money for these items and extra money for express shipping for you to steal our items?! Get it together. I had an item shipped from a licensed retailer in NC to the item manufacturer in Pocomoke City, MD. The item was shipped on 3/9/16. The item was shipped in for repair. The item was insured for $2000 and an insured mail receipt was provided. On May 17, I made a phone call to check the status of my repair. I was made aware that the item never made it to its destination.
I went to the local post office, the same office the item was shipped from. I was told to file an online claim for recovery. The online process would not allow me to submit a claim due to the date it was mailed. After spending 20 minutes on hold, I finally spoke with someone in customer complaints and explained the situation. He then, of course, was not able to help me and transferred me to someone else, in domestic claims. This person would only instruct me to file a claim not using the online process, but to file by paper instead. No place on the 'insured mail receipt' does it say, if there is a problem with shipping or delivery of this package that there is a 60 day time limit from the day of shipping to file a claim. So what the post office is telling me is that they lost a package or the package 'escaped' the USPS system prior to being delivered and to this point they are not willing to recover my loss. This is a lesson learned.

I have an eBay store and buy $200 a month in priority mail. My carriers change, so I never know what to expect. Sometimes they don't scan as being picked up, which means your insurance is no good at all. Then I was having problems getting packages delivered to the wrong apartment. Their GPS cannot tell where they left it since all the boxes are in one location. Then I started paying $2.35 for a signature upon delivery. It worked for a while. They brought the package to my apartment and I signed.
Last week I was home and waiting for the mail to come. The tracking said my high value package was "out for delivery". They came and never came to my door and left the card that said I was not home. I have witnesses besides me and my wife and son, who were all home. I have 2 dogs that bark when anyone comes near our door also. They never came to the door. It took 2 more days and when I called it took 4 hours and no one ever would answer the phone. The next day I called 3 hours non stop, like the day before, and at 9:30 AM finally talked to the supervisor. He said he would text the carrier and have it delivered. The carrier came and knew nothing, was rude and did not have the high value package of my store inventory. She took my signed card and left no package. The next day at 4:35 pm they left it in the box and did not bring it to my apartment. All this after a huge price increase in Priority mail. NOT HAPPY!!!

On May 12th it arrived at New York, NY facility. On May 13th it arrived at White Plains, NY facility. On May 14th today it has arrived at Peekskill, NY facility. It is now the 10th day Mother's Day is long, my mother's birthday was yesterday and she still hasn't received the package.
I am still trying to understand why the package would go from the Bronx to Manhattan (NY, NY) and then to White Plains, NY when White Plains is right above the Bronx. My husband who works out of NY came home for a visit on May 5th and left on the 11th. If I would have know I would have had him hand deliver the package. It would have gotten there a lot sooner!! My mail carrier took it upon themself to stop delivering my mail. Apparently, he didn't like that I left a catalog in my mailbox for a few days (despite the fact that all other mail was picked up), so in retaliation he decided to stop delivering. In doing so, he had two packages "returned to sender" as being "undeliverable"... even though I had plenty of room in my mailbox, all parcel lockers were empty, and packages can also be left at my house. Ridiculous! I usually only pick up my mail about once per week without any issue. I used to travel a lot for work, and this was normal for me. Now, all of a sudden, a CATALOG sets this guy off and he's on some personal vendetta against me? Really professional. Gee, I wonder why the postal service is losing so much money?
I normally go out of my way to ship via FedEx or UPS just to avoid dealing with this garbage. They would NEVER put up with this type of behavior from their employees. I asked if she could look up the USPS number I'd provide her figuring we would be looking at the same information. She refused to do so. At that point she said the package would be returned to the Seller and hung up. It's exactly why we need shut the USPS down or privatize the USPS. The website showed that the package arrived at the JAX distribution enter, but that's where it still is. I sent it on 4/9 and as of today, 4/20, it is still somewhere in the distribution center. I called the customer service number each day for the next 4 days and got the same response, "Umm, gee I don't know where it is. Maybe the label fell off and it got delivered." What a bunch of ** idiots!
I called the recipient but they never received it. The package had a check in it so I had to put a stop payment on it which cost $35 and then I had reship the docs via FedEx which cost $25. Of course, FedEx got it to the address on time. In the end, it cost triple of what it would have been if I just had sent it via FedEx in the first place. Again, what a bunch of ** idiots, and I will never use them again. It wouldn't be any loss if Congress decides to de-fund the USPS and privatize the mail delivery service.

I have had parcels missing since last two years and mail received with wrong addresses belonging to other people in the street. So I called the Consumer Affairs Manager of the Lakewood, California branch and complained. But to no avail. I ordered clothes that cost me quite a bundle online with USPS the carrier about two weeks ago... I never received them. I contacted Haband the supplier and complained. They claimed that they were delivered to me. I was so upset. A week ago one African American young postal office worker delivered mail as usual last week and as usual envelopes for other households. I followed her and told her about my missing parcels. She said that she is new and cannot help me. I told her to pay attention as this is costly. She did not care.
On Saturday April 16th my wife noticed the same young postal worker throw a parcel that belonged to us from the street to our doorstep instead of bringing it to our doorstep. It seems this young lady does not care and very careless. This is not right. I am going to take a picture of her when she comes this Monday and send it to you because the situation has become unbearable. My neighbor at 5850 brought me this morning Sunday the 17th of April 2 letters which were delivered to him by mistake and complained that he is receiving other people's mail recently. He is fed up. Why it was sent to TN, I have no clue. I try calling customer service and had no luck at all trying to reach them. After 35 minutes of useless information, the automated system hung up on me. I honestly do not understand why they charge to delivery and promise a date if they never stand by what they promise. They are the worst! We arrived there at 11:50 AM and waited in the passport line. At 12:50 PM, an hour later, when we were the next in line, the post office clerk announced that she is going to lunch and will not be taking any more customers. She had not made any announcements of any sort before that time to let us know that she will be going to lunch. Ideally, someone should have been taking her place, but if that was not possible she should have made an announcement letting us know of what is going on, so that we knew not wait in line for one hour with no result.
The clerk was also very rude and unprofessional when we asked if we or the people being served were the last customers. This is just not acceptable, not in today's world. There was also no signs indicating where the passport line is. The place was a chaos, and customers were confused on where they should wait in line. The receipt said estimated delivery was March 30. I wasn't worried since that was 3 days before the due date. The loan company called today & my payment wasn't delivered until April 4. I looked up the tracking info, thinking they're just trying to charge me a late fee but they telling the truth. It was going from Houston, TX to San Diego, CA. The tracking shows it went from Houston to Philadelphia, PA then to San Diego. I really don't understand why it was sent to the complete opposite side of the country.
I called the post office to complain & was told delivery times are not guaranteed, but no real answer for why it went to the east coast before the west coast. $6.45 is quite a bit more money when a stamp only costs $0.49 & would've taken about the same amount of time. Since I reviewed UPS and gave them a one star, or very dissatisfied review, I have noticed that every review on this website is from unhappy customers. This means that every shipping company is rated one star. The reviews may be individually helpful, but as a rating service they are meaningless unless customers post good experiences as well as bad. So I decided that it was only fair to review another delivery service that I have been very happy with. It may be a surprise to some, but that company is the United States Postal Service.
They are always on time and have never lost a package or a letter. The delivery person is considerate, rings my doorbell and takes care to leave a package in an inconspicuous place on my doorstep. She knows who I am and occasionally when my postbox has become too stuffed because I have not felt well enough to go out to the curb to gather the mail, she will bundle it and bring it to my door. I get most of my prescriptions through the mail and it's great to have such a reliable delivery service. The USPS is far better than UPS for any and all deliveries.

Here it is the 25th of March and I still haven't gotten my package or even a refund. Then they have the nerve to tell me to call the shipper and ask for a refund. The shipper's like "Why would I refund a package that was clearly a mistake on the carrier's end?" Now the USPS is telling me I'm just out of $80.00. If that isn't robbery I don't know what is. Very simply I get about 80 percent of my mail. My neighbors get the rest and I receive their mail on a regular basis. Let's list the problems. 1) Packages have been stolen or never delivered to my house numerous times. 2) Loss of insurance. 2 renewal packages were sent to me by Health First, neither delivered to me. 3) Stolen identity. $6,000 in credit cards I never applied for. Took 3 months to fix. 4) $5,000 in hospital bills. My insurance was cancelled due to not receiving my renewal forms. 5) Doctors have not been paid.
I have complained 2 times to my local post office. They have done nothing. I bought a new mailbox with a lock box. My carrier doesn't understand to put the mail inside the box. He leaves it hanging out. This week alone I have received random pieces of my neighbor's mail and they have received mine including my new insurance papers (3rd time). This is literally pathetic and my local post office has done nothing to help me. After that date, I contacted Amazon and received a refund. Foolishly, I re-ordered the items with Amazon again on the 18th to be delivered to my address this time, on the 20th. Well, tracking information stated that package could not be delivered as addressed even though I have lived at the address for over 10 years with no delivery problems. This is very frustrating.

I'd avidly been following a number of orders from Amazon, had them sent to my father's PO box. I don't live in the best building and boxes get pried open regularly. I've never had a problem doing this before. I noticed that the key did not work in the box, which was unusual. I had print outs of the tracking numbers etc. which I provided to the clerk. I was informed that for reasons that they could not provide to me my father would have to come in person to retrieve the items. I explained that if there was a problem with the PO box he would resolve it with them, however I would like to retrieve my items.
I was informed by the clerk "I don't even have to talk to you, because the box is not in your name." I was also told that there was no one else I could speak to. I attempted to call the post office and requested a call back which just hung up on me as it would not register my answer to any of the prompts. It's nice that they can withhold a couple of hundred dollars of my property.

I am angry that, even though they can see by my tracking scan that the package was not delivered to the correct address, but they won't even TALK to me and help resolve the issue that THEY LOST MY PACKAGE. They apparently refuse to take responsibility for their own actions or the actions of their contractors.
I highly suspect my package was stolen, possibly by the contractor who was supposed to deliver my package. The claim and subsequent appeal I made explained all this and still they insist the package was delivered. BUT my recipient never got the package. My local post office even indicated the scan shows it was delivered to the wrong address in the same neighborhood... and delivered on a Sunday by a contractor. I want this resolved and I want to be recompensed for the cost of the items my package insurance covered, plus my postage reimbursed for failure to deliver on time. Not to mention failure to deliver to the correct address.
WHAT OCCURRED: I mailed a package to a friend for Christmas 2-day delivery. Delivery was not made when expected and instead made 4 days after delivery due date >>> and not only delayed delivery, but delivered to the wrong address. The package weighed 9 lbs 15.2 oz so it was not a small item easily lost. When filing my claim and subsequent appeal, I provided information of what was in the package and their costs which actually is more than the $50 package insurance I paid for with my postage. All I want is the $50 insurance + the $26.90 postage to be remitted to me. It will be more than that to replace the items I mailed but I never expected the package to go missing in the first place.

At the main Euclid Avenue post office in Arlington Heights, IL, I mailed a passport renewal to Philadelphia, first class certified mail, on Feb. 4, 2016. It has yet to be delivered, 11 days later! Maybe tomorrow??? The large envelope was barcoded and the mailing label was pre-printed by the post office (kiosk service), and therefore easily routed and tracked. So, occasionally, things happen. Like today, it's a mail holiday... but the KICKER is that via the tracking service, I have been receiving email updates on the status of my mail that are totally inaccurate. My mail was routed to Los Angeles via Sacramento 4 days after mailing, and there it sat for 6 days.
The updates I received, however, kept saying 'left Los Angeles' with various times and dates that contradicted each other. I contacted the post office, and finally talked to a human at the original mail drop. She explained that various people and machines scan the barcode and therefore can create 'false' data. Maybe my mail got stuck to some other piece of mail and therefore went to CA. But she assured me, 4 days ago, the parcel was really leaving/had left Los Angeles as my tracking message said. She was wrong.
Finally today the package is in Philadelphia, if I can believe the tracker message. I want a refund for the $6.05 I spent on postage. We'll see. But worst for me is that my passport will not even start to be looked at until fully 14 days, if I'm lucky, after mailing to an agency that is also known for delays. I will never trust my important mail to the USPS, again. I have choices and I'm going to use them.

First off, I don't really complain about anything in life. I'm a happy guy, but recently I sold an item of $560 and used priority mail to ship it. And yes they lost it, the tracking stopped in the post office in the destination town... Now the buyer is filing a chargeback on the credit card. So I called USPS (has anybody ever called the USPS 1800 number? What a draggg... After a long repeating and slow automated answering machine, finally you get to wait online for an hour for a callback. I mean wtf. They are the biggest shipping service in the whole world, they can't get more people to pick up the phone to wipe their dirty ass for their wrongdoings??)
Ok now the fun part. Finally I get a callback and the lady said she will let the post office in that destination town know that there was a problem. Ok so.. I get a case number and was told to wait for a call back between 2-3 business days... 2nd day I tried to check tracking number again... and OMG it says it's "Not found"! Yesterday it indicated that the package was stuck in the town's post office!!! Now it's like it's not even their fault.. If it's not found then that means I didn't ship it out and trying to cheat on them!!! This really got me mad so here I am writing this post. I know this will not do anything to USPS. There will be no one to take any actions against them... but just hope other consumers can read this and maybe consider that a hundred year company sometimes is not worth trusting too. All a big forking lie. BS.

For the past few months, mail delivery has been horrible in our neighborhood. We and our neighbors receive mail that is not even addressed for our street. We regularly receive neighbor's mail and we subsequently deliver it. We have had our mail stopped while we were away only to find that it was delivered everyday for over 2 weeks. Luckily, a neighbor saw this and took it in for us. I went to the post office to notify the management there of the issue. His reply was how difficult his job was.
Last week, we had someone's tax documents delivered to our house. The address was not even on our street. Yesterday, all the mail in our mailbox was for the neighbor next door. We delivered it and found out that a package was delivered to another neighbor - again it was not even addressed to the same street name as ours. We have talked to the mail carrier and they "blame it on the sorters". I blame it on the sorters, the mail carriers and most importantly on the management of the local post office. Now that it is tax season, who knows where all the tax documents will be delivered or not delivered! It is getting to the point where one cannot count on anything that is mailed to be delivered. Last summer, my mail-order medications were never delivered though the tracking number indicated they had arrived at the post office. Again, talking with the management produced no results and the medications had to be re-ordered.

The package still had my name on the front of it. My neighbor ended up accepting the package and keeping it for 2 months. When I finally got it back 2 months later, it was taped back together.
The USPS is a JOKE, they do not care about helping you get your package back. I called and they started an investigation, which I was told to go knock on the person's door myself. This is not my job. I was told by the USPS, that since it was sent to 1279, that they could not help it, even though my NAME was on the front of it. I explained to them that I get mail for other people all the time (I live in a condo), and I return it, because it is not my name on the front of it. I THOUGHT it was a federal offense to open someone else's mail. The USPS could care less. Do not bother to purchase the insurance. For now on, my whole family use FEDEX, even it means we have to drive farther. I am disgusted with the USPS. If I had not called them continuously, I would have never got my package back.

In the last 2 weeks, the USPS Merrifield, VA Post Office (sorting center according to an employee of my local Post Office) has purposely delayed delivery of 8 of my packages. Four packages arrived on Jan. 20 for delivery on Jan 21 (before the East Coast blizzard on Jan. 22), but were deliberately held and not delivered until 6 days later! On the 22nd when I checked, USPS had changed the arrival date at the Merrifield facility from Jan. 20 to Jan 21, I can only assume so they could say the packages couldn't be delivered on the day of the blizzard. This week I've had more packages arrive at the Merrifield sorting facility only to sit there and be held for days instead of being delivered.
It is approximately a 30 min. drive (heavy traffic) from the Merrifield facility to my local post office, yet, this last package supposedly departed the Merrifield facility in transit to my local post office at 3:15 a.m. on Mon. 2/1/16 and as of this morning it still has not arrived at my local branch and will again not be delivered for a second day. Only absolute incompetence can explain why an at most 30 min. trip could take in excess of 24 hrs. to get to the local post office. I am out close to $100 in expedited shipping fees because the people I'm buying these items from, mostly eBay sellers, don't refund delayed shipping charges when the USPS fails to deliver on time. Other hubs of the USPS have also succeeded in losing 3 of my package - they have no idea where the packages are, nor do they care.
I've filed 7 complaints at USPS.com and left several messages for a call back at the Consumer Affairs Dept. listed on the Merrifield Post Office's phone prompts- all to no avail. No callbacks, no answers to my complaints. I also filed a complaint against them with the BBB, but I'm not holding my breath that will do any good either. The USPS is yet another over bloated, inept government entity run by lazy incompetents.

I have a couple of issues. First of all, this is a business where people are expecting packages everyday. We understand that things happen sometimes, we are all human, however, sending people a notice saying their package(s) have arrived, and having me go check the mail only to find that there is no package for said person, this gets annoying and should never be tolerated. We have contacted the seller(s) for packages as well to be sure they are not the ones sending that message out. They are not.
Secondly, one of your USPS ladies decided to drop the mail off upstairs at our office, which is great and we appreciate it. However, her attitude stank, and she tossed boxes around (that DO say fragile) on them because she had to move them to the copy room for us since I was only gone for a minute, and she could not wait another second. She also tossed/dropped someone else's small box, that said something about it being a lithium battery, onto our floor, to take our packages into the copy room.
I don't know why this keeps happening, however, I have some executives who are extremely upset over this. When I checked online it stated on 12/19/15 that the package was "Delivered At/Near Mailbox". The recipient never received the box. I waited the allotted time (15 days) to submit a claim.
First claim was denied because it was "Delivered At/Near Mailbox". I appealed the claim on 1/4/16. Today (1/30/16) I went online to check and it was denied AGAIN - no reason given. From the very beginning, I supplied the Kroger receipt for the cards as well as the receipt for the postage. I was able to get the card numbers through Kroger and when I checked online none of the cards were used. I contacted Target and they were wonderful. They canceled the original cards sent and reissued them and mailed them directly to the recipients and they have already received them.
The other two are non-refundable and that is why I put the claim into the post office. To date 1/30/16, neither of these cards have been used. I submitted a 2nd appeal and now have to wait ANOTHER 30 days for an answer. What is the point of insurance? I'm not even asking for the whole $50. If they don't want to deliver packages to where they are supposed to go, then maybe they should just stick to mail. I have been more than patient with trying to resolve numerous issues with my local postal office and still like my complaints are left ignored. I do know that when delivering a package, letter, etc that there should be an attempt first to bring the package to the receiving person before placing a pink letter in someone's mailbox. I track all my packages via email and text. But instead that leave a notice in my box saying receptacle blocked not that someone was not home to receive it. No receptacle is blocked too lazy to come upstairs to deliver. But you have to come inside the building to put the pink slip in my box, why not come upstairs. So tell me what was blocked??? And I do know that the package would have definitely fit in my mailbox.
Also workers at my local post office is disrespectful the way they speak to the customers. I was told by one lady worker in particular that she didn't feel like answering the phones that day because they were ringing off the hook after I mentioned I tried calling numerous times. Another is I placed a redelivery on a package that still was not redelivered and when I went to the post office to pick it up was told I had to wait because the package had not yet came back in. But if I had a redelivery why would it be going back to the post office a second time. FYI someone is always at my home at all times truth be told so once again I'm not being told no one was home just that receptacle is blocked which is definitely not true. I ordered two packages through Amazon that were supposed to be delivered by USPS on 1/18/2016. One was a small package, a scarf. The other was a $200+ order that included 11 items, including a space heater. On Monday at work, I checked my Amazon account. It stated that both packages had been delivered around 3 pm. A short time later, I received notice from my landlord that the heat in my building was not working and that the soonest it could be fixed was the following day, 1/19/2016. "At least that space heater arrived," I thought to myself. "I can make it through the night with that." It was 18 degrees outside. When I reached home, my bedroom was 45 degrees. And guess what? USPS delivered one package -- the scarf -- but not the second. Both were time-stamped 3:18 delivered, which must have meant they were on the same truck and arrived at my house at the same time.
But then, time-stamped about 30 minutes after that fact, the larger package was marked "front desk/reception" (there is no front desk or reception where I live) and a short time later, marked "undeliverable as addressed." Both had the same address. Both had the same time-stamp. One was delivered and the other wasn't. I am absolutely baffled as to why. On Tuesday morning, from 10:30 am to about noon, I attempted calling every single post office in the Providence, RI area to determine where my package was being held. I called about eight different offices. I called each of them 2 or 3 or 4 times. Not a single person answered, in any location. I did not speak to a single person on the phone. Only one office even had any kind of automated voicemail system. All the others just rang and rang and rang until they disconnected. I don't have a car. I couldn't access any of these post offices in person.
I could ONLY try calling them. No one answered. For about 90 minutes of calling. There was literally no way for me to contact a live person and explain my situation. Finally I called Amazon, who called the mail carrier on my behalf, and managed to reschedule a delivery for... the following day, 1/20/2016. Two days after I was supposed to receive the order. At this point, I STILL did not have working heat and had been counting on that space heater to arrive. I had also picked up a cough -- I was feeling under the weather on Monday and believe that the situation (both the cold and the stress of taking so much time out of my day to deal with this problem) exacerbated my illness.
Well, around 6 pm on 1/20/2016, my USPS tracking information marked the package as finally delivered. Confirmed delivery, no weird "undeliverable as addressed" note. I arrived home about 7:30. There was no package waiting for me. None of my roommates saw a package. The package was marked delivered. It was not delivered. (The heat was finally turned on about 5:30 pm on 1/19/2016. Someone had cut open the package with a razor blade and tore through it like an animal. It was very obvious a box cutter of sorts was used, and then the person proceeded to tear through the incision with their hands, crushing everything.
The ceramic mugs she sent were smashed to smithereens and half the baked goods were not just gone, but EATEN. Someone had taken bites out of most everything and left the rest. Human sized bite marks and imprints. My favorite snacks completely gone. Just a few crumbs left. We made our complaints but were asked to prove that we weren't the ones who committed the crime, and were also told nothing could be done unless the package was insured! Figuring it was a fluke we didn't have any more issues for a few months. Until now...
We moved out of that apartment into a larger unit (same complex). The first two months: no issues. I am religious about changing my contact information on everything: banks, school, insurance, work, etc. I also filed forwarding information with the post office. I was receiving mail just fine for a few months until September. My boyfriend's birthday arrived and not a single card came, and unfortunately, the elderly in our family sent cash. My family and his both sent cards, confirmed this and nothing ever arrived. The post office made a case file but nothing ever came of it. I filed a complaint. Then, two months later two cards were sent back to the original senders, beat up and torn with a stamp that said "undeliverable". But the other cards were never found. Then, again around the holidays in November, we started having issues. Mail just stopped arriving and we stopped getting package notifications in our mailbox.
Our leasing office had to keep calling us when we got packages because no one was picking them up. These were gifts, so we weren't expecting any packages and had no way of knowing something was arriving. The post office just stopped putting package notifications in our mailboxes like they used to. No warning. Since December, we haven't received any mail at all except ads and the occasional mail for what I'm assuming is a previous resident. I have quite a few important documents and checks I receive through the mail including mortgage checks that I have no way of receiving now. I've checked with my leasing office and the post office and they both agree my address is correct and that the address that I've been using is good.
At first, they tried to tell me that the reason I'm not getting mail is because we don't have the names of residents inside our mailbox, BUT WE DO. THE LABEL HAS BEEN THERE SINCE WE MOVED IN. No one can figure out why we aren't receiving our mail. Anytime mail is sent to us, it is always returned to sender as "UNDELIVERABLE". We have been called and emailed about medical bills and other expenses we didn't know we had because the bills were sent by mail and returned to sender. I have a family member that sends 'test' mail to see if anything comes through. But nothing. I also have college applications out and a few of the schools have emailed me saying that mail they have sent was returned to them. This is beyond frustrating. Every time I call the post office, they say, "We'll ask the carrier for your area what's wrong and why he can't deliver your mail." But they never do. It's the same damn response I get every time I call.

How long would you expect a medium weight package, delivery costing 50 (+20 for duty and tax) to ship to the UK? For those of you in America, 50 is about $70. 2 weeks maybe? A month, tops? Well as of today, it's been a month, and there is no sign of it, despite it departing from the UK airport in London 3 days ago. And it's not as if I live in the highlands, I don't even live in the north. I'm in the midlands, in an easy to access town. For the incredibly high shipping cost, I would expect a better service. This has been the absolute worse treatment I have ever encounter throughout my life. First and foremost, "my carrier" left my package containing my prescription glasses in the hall of a multi-unit building on, of all days, the day before Christmas. I'm assuming someone picked up my package because I never received it. Went to the Grand Crossing station located on 74th and Cottage Grove on the 30th of December and received absolutely no help. Witness a clerk with blue and black hair who unlawfully gave an individual a package without him providing proper identification. (Could be why I don't have my package.)
Contacted consumer affairs, and after an hour and a half hold time, received the same ghetto treatment. This was utterly ridiculous. Not one person got back to me about the status of my claim. I had to do ALL of the calling. This was the worst treatment ever by any organization and USPS should be ashamed!!! Nothing so far has come from this situation. Warning! To USPS customers in the Dolores Heights area and other parts of the Mission District in San Francisco: Be on the lookout for a white male USPS delivery man in his late 20s/early 30s who drives a parcel truck during evening hours. This person has been purposely avoiding his duties of delivering mail packages in the area, quite possibly in other parts of the city as well. Instead of knocking and or ringing on residents' doors with package in hand as he is supposed to do, he quietly slips notices in their mailboxes informing them that nobody was home and that they must pick up their package at the Bryant St, Station.
He has been seen by neighbors' and on surveillance camera doing this repeatedly. This has been happening quite recently, especially during the late afternoon/early evening hours of the Christmas holidays. What's even worse is that he doesn't even bother to carry the intended recipient's packages with him while he slips the pre-written notices through their mail slots! This lazy bum just does this under the assumption that probably nobody's home, so why waste his time? The only thing being wasted here is our taxpayer dollars being used to pay him for a job that he isn't doing.
What's really pathetic is that sometimes he doesn't even bother to show up for scheduled date deliveries. He just scans packages as "delivery attempt failed" wherever he happens to be, then has the nerve to return the following morning (assuming nobody is home at the time) to slip notices in mail slots to make it look as though the recipient not only missed the delivery, but that the notice was there all the time, was overlooked, and too late for a rescheduled a delivery.
Quite frankly, I feel creeped out by this. This unprofessional behavior is unacceptable and should not be tolerated, whatsoever. If you feel that this has happened to you as well, do not hesitate to file a complaint online at www.usps.com, or report it to the Bryant Street Station postmaster. The USPS employee in question has failed to understand one of the basic principles of the postal system - withholding personal mail for any reason without due cause that is not consistent within USPS guidelines is a federal crime, punishable by fine and/or imprisonment.

But of course the items were of a personal and sentimental nature, and obviously items that meant something to me and to my daughter. AND I felt that if I am paying the USPS to deliver my items, they would honor their commitment and provide the service they were paid for. Unfortunately, the box of items were never received by my daughter, the addressee. Our efforts to have the box located resulted in nothing but frustration and aggravation. The USPS tracking info shows the package was delivered at the apartment complex manager's bldg. The apartment manager and staff insisted that the package was never delivered to them. A research case (#**) was initiated by the postal service district office for the Kent, WA area.
Ultimately the USPS said "tough luck" since their GPS system shows the box was delivered to the manager's bldg, the loss was not the responsibility of the postal service, but the apt mgr. Now, I did not pay USPS to deliver to the manager's bldg, I paid to have it delivered to my daughter's address, which was clearly marked on the box. I am so furious, frustrated, and disgusted, it is difficult to even write this complaint with civility. I have nothing to show for the money spent for this delivery (or lack thereof). I've read a lot of reviews concerning delivery with the USPS and while many of my parcels are late, they're never too late. It's usually a day or two and this mainly happens during the holiday shopping season. For the huge amount of shipping and receiving that they do around this time of year, they do good work. If more people actually shopped in store this possibly could cut the delays some but most do not want to bother with actually going to a store so they order online. FedEx, UPS as well as USPS get inundated with packages and while all honestly try to get all packages to their destination in a prompt and timely manner arrival times are and can be a day or so late.
I've used USPS for many years as well as FedEx and UPS and they all basically run the same except the other two may have more reliable tracking. I do agree that the USPS needs to improve by way of tracking and also seeing if sometime in the near future they can obtain more guaranteed services for their customers. Also, more sorting facilities would be good but seeing as they have been cut back, I do feel that they are struggling and yet at the same time trying to keep customers somewhat happy and that is not an easy task for anyone. I'm fortunate that my main hub here, as well as my local post office, are very good about getting all mail items to me in a timely manner. I received notification that it arrived in Atlanta on Monday, December 14. Two days later I received another notification telling me the same thing. I am traveling out of the country and the sim card I was to use to contact relatives has still not arrived. This is not the first time the postal agency has done this. However, I realize many people are having similar bad experiences as I do. I'm not sure what has become of the postal agency nowadays.
I have resolved that I will pay more money to other carriers before I use the postal agency. Their work is so primitive you think we are living in a fifth world country (if there's anything like fifth world country). I want the postal agency to know that their system is awful, and I may use them again if I know I have year to wait for my package to get to its destination. Now you can see why your rating is terrible, because you are terrible!

They stated it's at the main facility, and the public is not allow to be near there. So how can I pick up my package. The reason I could not call, is no one answers the phone. I'm extremely upset. I mailed five small packages on the same day from the same post office to Britain. I paid a fortune in postage only to find out they can track as far as the point of exit from this country. Three of the packages made it to Miami. Two are showing that they arrived in Baton Rouge, LA on 12-7. It is now Dec. 14. I e-mailed USPS, got no reply. I called the toll-free number--someone would look into it.
I get a call from my local PO--not the place I mailed the packages from--not Baton Rouge. I call the toll-free number and after waiting almost an hour, a very rude woman answered and had little time for anything I asked. I requested a manager who basically told me they do not have to record any package sent first-class international, so if they are lost/stolen--not a problem for them. They cannot do anything about it. I should have paid nearly $200+ to mail them so they could be tracked. It cost me just under $140 to mail them, tracking should have been a part of that--at the very least to where they said they could be tracked. Very dissatisfied and will not be mailing through them again.

I went to the post office on a Wednesday afternoon to mail a package to my boyfriend who lives 400 miles away. I had food in the package and I told the woman working in the post office that I needed it to arrive so it didn't go bad. She chose priority shipping because it was going to be the same price as regular shipping. The package was supposed to arrive at his house on Saturday. Now the tracker says the package won't be delivered until Tuesday. I am very unhappy seeing as I spent $6 to ship a package with food that will arrive in 6 days instead of 2 or 3 like it was supposed to.

I'm a United States Postal Service customer that mailed a package from the United States to Italy on July 13, 2015. The package contained a number of items. One of those items was an IPhone 6 cell phone. While dropping off the package at the post office I filled out a form listing the items in the package (the IPhone 6 as one of the items) and was offered to purchase insurance by the USPS employee. Which I agreed to. The package was then taken by the USPS employee to begin the process of mailing it to Italy. No attempt was made by the employee to explain or offer any form of material that would inform me of specific laws governing nonmailable, prohibited or restricted items to Italy.
The package made it to Italy customs in a timely manner. However, it stayed in Italian customs for months. After numerous calls by me to the international USPS and receiving inaccurate and unhelpful information the package was reported as out of Italy customs. It took so long to leave Italy customs, I requested it shipped back to my address. Upon arrival to my address I found all contents in the package except for the IPhone 6. I filed a claim with USPS which was denied by them noting that due to Lithium cells and batteries shipments are prohibited to Italy and is illegal. The denial further said it is the mailer responsibility to know this fact. They again offered no written document or proof to backup their claim.
I was shocked to get this response for the following reasons; This was my first experience mailing a package to Italy and needed USPS knowledge and professionalism to help me be successful. Even though I fully revealed the contents of the package included an IPhone 6, no attempt by the USPS was made to inform me of laws governing the mailing of packages to Italy.
As a law-abiding citizen I'm now devastated that USPS concealed legality of this mailing and allowed me to break the law! USPS admittedly and knowingly accepted and shipped this package illegally. USPS knew this package was illegal and would deny any claim, but still defrauded me by offering to insure it and accepted my purchase of the insurance. USPS denied the entire claim even though only the battery was illegal. The battery has a value of only $9.99. USPS still has not supplied me the document they reference in their denial letter either electronically and/or hard copy. This situation could have been prevented if USPS would have notified me of the law referenced in their denial letter and did not condone but rather refused to mail the contents that were illegal.

I placed a few orders online for my Christmas shopping. Because I have a P.O. BOX I am very watchful of the service carrier used when placing an order. If it is UPS I enter my home address and if it's USPS I use my box. If possible I try to use both just in case. Two particular orders from Target.com were placed and shipped via UPS. I used my physical address and in the process of tracking the orders I was informed the packages were transferred to the local post office. I called them up and explained my situation. I asked if I could please pick up my packages. I was willing to show I.d., my order info, tracking number, anything.
One of my packages was verified to have been received and the other is on its way today. I was told by the post office they would not give me my gifts. That they are sending them back. These are my 4 year old daughter's Christmas gifts. The post office has the packages but refuses to give them to me. This is terrible customer service. It was an honest mistake with shipping and I pleaded with them only to be basically scolded for making a mistake. I understand USPS has a job to do but I hoped they cared a little about the customer.

It is 32 days today since Nov 6, 2015 when I mailed a package from Brooklyn, NY to Miami, FL. The USPS website shows the estimated delivery date as Nov 12, 2015. But, the package is still in transit (according to the USPS website). I have been contacting ASK USPS phone several times. After each time of staying on the line for about 45 minutes or so, I was able to talk to an agent. They created a case for me, but no helpful investigation was done. Each time, a different agent says a totally different thing.
Apparently, my package was scanned in Jersey City facility center, and then, it was returned to Brooklyn, NY. At the same date (Nov 7, 2015), it left the post office in Brooklyn, NY. Since that time, no scan is available on the website for this package. The package was mailed with standard postal service. I contacted Miami post office, and they said that they didn't receive it yet. They said also that "Brooklyn post office in NY should resolve this issue because your package didn't leave there yet."
On the other hand, Miami Consumer Affairs mentioned to me that the form for mail recovery system should be filled out and be sent to the mail recovery mail center in Atlanta. But, at the same time, the post office says that NY Consumer Affairs is responsible to resolve the issue. Nobody so far has taken care of this problem. It is a month that we are waiting to receive the package but we haven't. Please let me know what you think. It is so upsetting that everyday everyone says something different and you don't know what is the truth, and where your package is yet. :(

On 12/4 early in the day, I sent my passport renewal via USPS Priority Mail, with scheduled delivery on 12/7. It is still showing in Opa Locka, FL (Miami). It was in the box outgoing early in the day and the postal service was here mid-afternoon. The system shows that it was picked up on the 5th (a lie) and that it has been in Opa Locka since just after midnight on the 6th. I phoned the Passport Service office and they've not received it. I tried calling the postal service and ended up on hold for over 20 minutes now - still on hold. I can only imagine the damage that a pilfered passport could incur. (Yes - I sent my existing passport which expires next month, as required with the renewal application.)
The local post office, Key West FL, is the worst. Obviously they sat on this for a day and falsified records, as they do REGULARLY. I've had three packages that they 'said' they delivered in the past month that were never delivered. I've often received things showing delivery at a specific time when I know for a fact it was NOT delivered at that time. Oh, and after complaining a year and a half ago? The local postmaster informed me that postal service is a courtesy, not a right.
Now, I'm wondering what I can do about a lost passport? Who is responsible? I'd have sent via FedEx except the Passport Agency in Philadelphia only has a PO Box to mail to and FedEx can't deliver to a PO Box. I have to say, I'm more frustrated with the postal service than with AT&T, if that is even possible. At least with AT&T, they'll eventually make right whatever they screwed up. The postal service? You're just screwed from day one if you do business with them.

As of the last few months this year, I have noticed a phenomenon with the US Postal Service, in particular their Los Angeles USPS Facility. High valued insured packages destined for other parts of the country seem to get "stuck" at the aforementioned facility for periods of up to one week or more and for no good reason. While I understand USPS Registered and Insured is advertised as very secure, yet also very slow, this lengthy and unwarranted delay is a relatively new and very annoying occurrence.
Case in point and according to the USPS Tracking app, a parcel destined for HELENA, MT was dropped off at the Redlands, CA USPS office on October 26th, 2015, it arrived in Los Angeles on November 7th, 2015 (by this time, there is an excessive delay to reach Los Angeles). It then left the Los Angeles Facility on the 7th and finally delivered on the 11/13/15. Several attempts were made to reach the LA facility (both by the recipient of the parcel as well as the Redlands USPS office) with no explanation given as to the whereabouts of the parcel - only that "it was in the LA facility and it would be sent soon".
The parcel was delivered intact and there was no apparent attempt of tampering. However, I feel there has been a shift in the quality of the USPS service and our confidence in their delivery service, especially as it pertains to their Los Angeles office, is eroding. Something needs to be done soon to help remedy this breakdown in service. Will be happy to provide more details if necessary.

I then called the Customer Service number and spoke to a representative. She told me that my letter had been sent to MEXICO. I asked how that happened, since I clearly put CORK CITY, IRELAND on the envelope. She blamed it on a sorting machine. Yeah, because no human ever touches the mail from destination A to B. I was tracking my package and waiting for it in Dallas, Tx. Apparently it was circulating for 3 days around Chicago and now it's delayed! This is not the first time this has happened with the crappy USPS. They are the worst delivery service!!

Technology isn't going to solve human problems and the USPS administration should know better. I'm talking about their GPS tracing system allowing dispatchers to know a real time location of the postal delivery vehicles. The satellite will pin point exactly where the vehicle is and where it has been BUT... I promise you you've been fooled and we customers have been victimized by those postal "officers" with their tricks. When it rains big time and the level of personal responsibility inherent to a given worker is low, they simply stay for a while sitting inside their vehicles not picking up the mail from the mail boxes. The sophisticated technology may prove their location but not their actual delivery status. Once again the human factor has been unsuccessfully replaced by more expensive technology to accomplish NOTHING. Thanks.

I run an internet business, and most unfortunately I rely mostly on the USPS for delivery and pickup services. My regular carrier is currently on vacation, and I've been having the worst service possible since then with her subs. Actually, two days out of one week, they did not even pick up or delivery packages although some of them had tracking numbers showing that they were out for delivery. I've seen the USPS going from bad to worse along the years... Many of the employees are not putting any effort whatsoever in customer satisfaction, and they act like that they are just there for the paychecks... Benjamin Franklin, the first Post Master General, must be revolving all over his grave...

USPS lost my item within 3 hours of handing it over. Never updated past them taking it. My item was something I sold. I never received my package back. I had to refund money to the buyer. Then the post office had the nerve to get an attitude with my about looking for my package and didn't even attempt to take my information. I had to escalate myself and call the post office that my package was being shipped to. I had to do all the work to find my package that was most likely stolen from a staff member. Then they are telling me that insurance will only cover a fraction. Why should I pay for them to do their job... or not do it. WORST MAIL DELIVERY SERVICE. And this is not the first time they have misplaced, delivered to wrong address and say it's delivered. UPS or FEDEX from here on out.
