Less damage and lower price than when I used to ship with UPS. Fedex ground is better, but it's a pain to take stuff to their facility. I have been happily using the postal service for over ten years now.

I think that the postal workers take more care with parcels and packages. I have yet to receive a damaged article that was delivered by the post office. The delivery person always rings the bell to let me know that I have a delivery.

Customer service is one of the worst. They simply do not care. They lost my package. They didn’t reimburse me for my loss entirely even though I had receipts and photos. I went all the way to the top. Awful experience but that is the norm.

Someone, and I suspect it is our carrier, lies about delivery dates. They send information to the sender that the package has been delivered 2-3 days before I receive it if I get it at all. In addition, our carrier can't seem to tell the difference between our street and another one 16 blocks away - we get mail for each other constantly because we have the same HOUSE numbers on DIFFERENT streets. I avoid using USPS at all if I have any choice in the matter.

Recently my husband ordered 2 packages from Amazon. Both packages were shipped via USPS. We received one yesterday. The other says it was attempted to be delivered yesterday and Sunday but they could not access the delivery location. Both my husband and I were home both days and no one attempted to deliver. We received one package so why couldn't you deliver the other? We were told we could not pick it up from the USPS office either. They would have to redeliver. Why? So it can happen a 3rd time? Another time I had a watch stolen and the package was returned to sender empty. They did nothing about it. No reimbursement, no investigation, NOTHING. When ordering from Amazon now, if they say they are delivering via USPS, I won't even order it. They should stick with letters only.

This is about the current processes at USPS that can be improved. I came to local office to ask for detail about package not being delivered while tracking number showed delivered. What should happen: agent file a claim on my behalf, and someone at USPS works on the case. What actually happened: they asked me to call the distant distribution center myself. They only responsible for collecting fee and push it to their queue to enrouting. Second problem: Phone wait is as usual long. 1 800 222 1811 for tracking question, take 1 hour long of wait still no one picking up. If you lost receipt, you can't track item. They can only look up your credit card transaction within 7 days from transaction date. This data should be at least 30 days backdate. 7 days is too little.

The last time I expected a package the mailman didn't know the route so returned all the packages and the USPS pretend that I pay for the shipping again. This is the second time they do this and never take responsibility for their mistakes, just want to charge again for the services.

Recently I used their 2 day priority shipping domestic mail service and it was delivered after 5 business days. I have very important documents that I need to get shipped from my university. Usps tracking doesn’t really say where the mail was located. It’s an awful experience.

While shipping packages out of state over the holidays, I looked at the online site to determine if I used 3-day Priority would it arrive before Christmas Day. The site said (not verbatim) 'ship on Thursday in the above manner mentioned and it will be received by Christmas Eve 2018.' When I got to the post office the lady who took my packages not only told me to 'slide them toward her onto the scale myself (???)' but that it had an 'estimated arrival time of Christmas Eve.' I told her what the USPS online site delivery schedule said and she said 'at this point nothing is guaranteed.' As well, I wanted to insure one package for $500.00 and she failed to add that to the package (thankfully it arrived safe), and when she was finished sticking labels and postage on packages she merely 'tossed' them into a bin behind her, never looking over her shoulder.
Total and complete disregard for not only customer service but for 'what did not belong to her,' I suppose. I can understand there are 'busy times' every day of the year for many companies but this post office is this way each day it is open. Always making it a hassle, a one-man show most of the time, no hurry as they are on the clock and well, the USPS in Georgia never gets in a hurry. They cannot even put my mail in my mailbox. I own a townhome and it ends up in my neighbor's box - to the left and right - and I get their mail. It's very frustrating to say the least.

The cost would be appropriate if it got to its destination when promised. The fact that a package can be sent to the wrong address with not only the correct address but the correct zip means some one is slacking on the job. Too much money for the poor service.

Excellent service... except for the wait-in-line at counter normally due to customers not having packages ready. Recommend a sign telling customers to have all of their packages labelled & addressed before meeting a postal agent. This will improve efficiency/productivity while making customer who are in line with all packages/envelopes properly labelled & addressed happier.

I have not only contacted my local postmaster but have personally spoken with my postal carrier all to no avail. I have had a full length, puffy coat crammed into my mailbox, all books I order end up with broken bindings and bent and again crammed into my mailbox, anything glass is done for, and because I live in a third floor apartment, my mail carrier refuses to walk up the stairs to deliver anything. Today he left a box of books that he evidently could not cram into my box on the last step of the second flight of stairs. I ended up tripping and falling over it as it was nearly invisible against the grain of the wooden stairs. My dog fell as well. It was a disaster. I am disabled (and also have severe damage to my left leg) and I go up and down those stairs more than a few times each day with the dog. I keep them totally clean of snow and ice and spend a small fortune on ice melt.
My Federal Express carrier, UPS and DHL carriers all thank me for keeping the stairs so clean. My FedEx carrier brings my dogs food up those stairs monthly. He never complains and is always lovely to deal with. The ONLY carriers I have a problem with are my USPS carrier and the local postmaster. I have contacted the Postmaster (locally) a couple of times and asked what could be done and he was so rude. He told me unless I had an elevator my carrier does not have to deliver the package at all! I told him how often my mail is on the ground, in the street or driveway because he jams so much into the box it won't shut tightly. He said, "Did that happen today?" I said, "No, but, my box WAS left wide open as well as the other two mailboxes next to mine." He said, "I know that's not true because I delivered the mail to your apartment building today!"
I told him, well then I guess that pretty much tells me why my regular carrier behaves as he does. I asked him how I could contact the PostMaster General in DC and he laughed at me and said anything I have a problem with, HE is as high as I could go. That there is absolutely NO WAY and NO ADDRESS or customer service to speak to except him! I really hate being lied to. The PostMaster General in Washington DC is named Megan ** and the address to write to is 475 L'Enfant Plaza Washington, DC 20260 for anyone else who is given the "wrong" information. I hope more people write to the DC office. No amount of complaining or getting angry will change situations like this unless enough people TAKE ACTION!
Please write to Megan ** at the Washington DC office and let her know what is going on in your town or city. I personally believe too much power is given to the local Postmasters. Mine is obviously high on himself and believes it is alright to lie to people. He most certainly knew what the address was to the DC office and should not be telling people HE is the final word on all matters concerning the mail in my small city and that there is NO SUCH ADDRESS or ANYONE other than himself to complain to. The mail is supposed to be the BEST way to receive things our loved ones have sent us, bills that need to be paid and packages we as consumers pay for, INCLUDING the cost to mail it to us!
I should not have to live in a building with an elevator to have a healthy young man walk up three flights of stairs to deliver a package. If I can go up and down these stairs, keep them free of snow and ice while being disabled, missing part of my left leg and a few months away from 60 years old, then why, can't a healthy young man walk up those same stairs. USPS in my town should be totally ashamed and chastised for their horrible attitudes and bad behavior towards its customers. I also get tired of having to pay extra to other shipping companies because I cannot trust USPS to get my purchases to me in one piece. Time for a change! I do so hope Ms. ** will read the letter I will be sending her.

I sent some Christmas gifts out the day after Christmas, using Priority Mail. After 4 straight days of tracking the package and seeing “your package will arrive later than expected but is still on its way”, I realized that it was likely lost. I tried calling customer service, but got disconnected every time and never got to speak to anyone. I then sent an email, and was contacted by the local USPS post office guy. He couldn’t find my package, and he couldn’t find the contents either.
I was then advised to file an insurance claim online. I’ve been trying to do that for the past 3 days, and it keeps saying there was an error processing my request. It says to call the tech support number. So, I called that number and waited on hold for an hour and a half!! Only to be told that the website is experiencing known issues and there is nothing they can do about it. What a joke! Who knows if I’ll ever get my money back. USPS is a joke! Case 1: Put in a hold mail request over Thanksgiving. Received email confirmation of the request, the start *and* the end of the hold mail period. Went to pick up my mail and they had no idea I had even put in the request (the local office did confirm I was in the right place, and had held mail for other apartments in my building). Still haven't gotten my week's worth of lost mail after getting in touch with customer support. Case 2: Ordered some clothes to my Queens apartment. The clothing company only had my Queens address on file. USPS decided to reroute it to my old Brooklyn apartment. Package was supposed to arrive today and it's still somewhere in Brooklyn having recently been "forwarded". Yeah, no duh.

The USPS has become totally unreliable. I ordered a product on December 28, 2018 which was shipped on a timely basis on December 31. Unfortunately, they shipped via USPS. The item was received at Plano, TX on December 31, but not processed ("accepted") until January 7, 2019! They sat on that package for an entire week before processing it. To make matters worse, It has still not been delivered, and the tracking system tells me that it is In Transit to the next facility. Expected delivery date have come and gone. There is absolutely no way to find out where my package actually is, or if it has been stolen by a Post Office employee, damaged, or just plain lost.
Meanwhile, I am out the nearly 250 dollars I paid for the item and can't afford to buy another one! The seller is not responsible for the careless negligence of USPS. Holiday gift checks have never been received and they were sent on December 15th from FL to RI. Then a check mailed from a totally different location in FL to pay a bill 2 weeks in advance. Never arrived to its destination a couple blocks away and it is a month later. It seems that ONLY mail with checks enclosed around the December holiday season have NEVER arrived and it has been a month now since being collected by USPS. All other mail has been delivered timely. Surely something very suspect is going on when this undelivered and missing mail is ONLY mail with checks enclosed and involves 2 completely different states, but all were sent from FL, just completely different ends of the state and from different people. Is mail scanned by USPS for workers to know there are checks enclosed? What are the odds of only and ALL check enclosed holiday cards and bills in the mail to go missing?

For the last 4 years I may or may not get my bills, junk mail seems to be no problem getting to me. When sending mail the Billing companies may or may not get the checks. We are paying for a service that we many times do not receive and most complaints go unheard. Late bills results in late fees that each of us must pay. I have a Medicare payment to the Government hung in limbo for going on the 4th week. Due to Emails, FedEx, UPS and other private companies also handling mail one would think that the USPS would want to not lose additional business. Most of my billing companies have hounded me for years to go electronic, guess what, today I have completed my 4th bank payment and working on our Medicare bank draft. "whenever the 1st package arrives, the 2nd will be delivered with it".
HOW CAN THE USPS OFFER THIS SERVICE??? This level of service, if offered at all, should NOT be available to the average Joe consumer. I routinely ship back and forth from Michigan to Florida and typically it take 3 days from post office to destination. On several occasions it has taken MUCH longer than one would consider normal or even acceptable. I would estimate that there is a 70% chance a regular, small envelope will take longer than is acceptable at the standard shipping. Pay $10 MORE and the odds get better but only improve by about 40%. By way of example I paid for 3-day priority shipping (which takes 4 days 70% of the time) and it is as of now way overdue. It was stuck in the abyss for 6 days then finally reappeared at the infamous "DETROIT MI NETWORK DISTRIBUTION CENTER" aka the black hole. Now typically one should be able to reasonably expect that standard size envelope to arrive at the destination post office the next morning but it was not to be. Nope, if for some idiotic reason it stuck there for an additional FIVE DAYS!
Here's the best part. The SAME business mailed me the SAME size envelope 2 days after the one that has still not arrived and it arrived this past Monday! In 4 days! How in the bloated mismanaged government hell did that happen? So I am still waiting for the first envelope to arrive hoping it's not lost which has happened before. In the past I've filed a missing mail complaint because my urgently needed paperwork bounced from Detroit network to Detroit network over and over but never to the destination. I received some BS excuse that the barcode was damaged causing the machines to fail, it arrived in perfect condition.
On another occasion I had a package arrive missing all of its contents valued at $300. Filed a case and of course it was never resolved, no one fired or held accountable. So tomorrow I will be filing yet another missing mail case, waiting through over an hour of automated customer disservice only to be handedsome generic lie. The appallingly bad customer service, terrible website, nightmarish automated phone hell and thieves working at this bloated excuse for "service industry" make me want to fire each and every one of them. Privatize the entire operation and start over. If you have the option, use UPS, FEDEX or ANYONE other than USPS! Just read the other reviews at one star. I wish I could rate them -5 stars because that is the quality of the service they provide.

My name is Felicia **. I sent a Christmas Package to Atlanta. Today is 12/31/2018. The package has no trace since leaving Bedford postal Service, I have been getting the runaround. They say they have no package. On December 12/29/2018 I was yelled at, was threatened, harassed, subjected to verbal abuse by a supervisor that told another employee to call the police on me. She said, "Call the police". I said, "Ma'am I want to know where my package is," I said, "I want answers. I'm not leaving until someone tells me something," that's not right. The package was suppose to be delivered on the 24th. I said, "I will sit here until I get answers. "Is there cameras where you can see who handled my package, who was the gentleman that was suppose to drive the truck to Cleveland."
Those items in the gifts bag were very unique. I can't get those in any store, then she said she would call the police if I did not leave the post office, another employee said that the Lady that handled my package should not have let the package go out that way. I called, I came back later. I said, "I just want my gifts returned." I told them the items were fragile, I was also told it's my fault because I did not add additional insurance. I was told the package has no trace leaving Bedford Ohio. My son the recipient says the same day I called the Bedford Post office the same day I was Threatened, harassed, and subjected by verbal abuse by the supervisor. Very rude. Disrespectful on 12/29/2018 which was on Saturday and spoke to the supervisor.
My son got a text stating the package is ready for pickup on that Saturday, we call Atlanta Today at 9:24 am 12/31/2018 they have not received the package. They said it has not left Bedford Ohio 44146. Online it says package will arrive at a later date on its way and in transit. This is outright wrong. I would like an investigation on where my package is. GIFTS. There is something strange with this picture, I would like to speak to a higher authority to get this matter resolved. I called at 11:00 am 12/31/2018 a supervisor at Bedford said the package should have went to 2200 Orange Facilities. WE WANT OUR CHRISTMAS GIFTS BACK. I'm sure there are cameras in those facilities. I will get my attorney To look into this even further, and the news outlets CNN, etc. etc. etc. Please contact.

I actually had nothing but positive experiences with USPS up until about the past year or so. I always select priority mail when I have the option and it used to show up at my door in two days, as they state it will. No matter where it was coming from within the continental US. Two days in the past year are now four and five. Consistently. Even mail coming from the same state now takes 3-5 days via priority. This tells me something is going on internally we're not aware of and IT'S NOT GOOD FOR USERS OF THE SERVICE! Most deliveries I don't mind being late a day or two but there are many times I have shipments I very much NEED ON TIME and it's usually those times USPS FAILS to come through. It's infuriating we are forced to have to use them 80% of the time.

Any time I have to deal with USPS, it becomes an instant headache. For starters, their tracking system is garbage and hardly updates, either properly or on time. This most recent situation really showed how terrible this service is, and it's no wonder they're losing money. I recently moved, and Amazon did not properly delete my old address like I had before placing an order. So now, my packages are being delivered to the old address. Great. I head down to the old address and talk to the little old lady who moved in. She says she left a note in the mailbox to have my mail taken back to USPS. She didn't have it, and the mail wasn't in the mailbox like they said it was.
Several hours later, it's updated to say that it was taken back and being forwarded elsewhere. Well... Where?? I try calling and have to sit through this terrible automated message that you can't skip about times they aren't delivering mail, and when they are. Thankfully, the phone service also forces you to use voice recognition that glitches out even when hitting the numbers on the phone. So oftentimes, I either had to restart the call and sit through that same starting nonsense, or back out and try again. Almost an hour of this, and my issue was not resolved. Tried putting a mail forwarding request. Doesn't seem to be working. Found out they have a mail intercept option. Great! I tried, and none of my packages are eligible. What? Why the hell do they offer all these tools, and not let you use them or make them so bad, you wouldn't ever try to?
As it stands right now, all my mail is in limbo, and I can't even get them to just hold the damn packages for me to come collect myself. Couple this with the fact that the mailmen always handle my packages poorly, going so far as to damage the packaging on expensive computer parts I order or just leaving them out in the open without even knocking when I'm home, and you have a service that I almost wish would just go out of business. I hate dealing with USPS, and would rather everything just be FedEx, as I don't ever have issues dealing with them to this extent.

Dealing with USPS is like having teeth pulled. They are slow to update tracking info. Today, a package that was scheduled to be delivered (even as per their tracking system) was not delivered. The message I received was that the package was being held at the Post Office at the customer’s (my) request. That is an outright lie. I never asked for it to be held. Furthermore, it’s not a package that would require any sort of signature or receipt. Unsatisfactory service is one thing; blatant lying is another. My advice is to use any service whenever possible, even if it costs slightly more.

This is based on several years of experience with USPS. Never seen more worse service like this. Never accurate tracking updates, take any USPS service, it will be late 99.999% of the time. Tracking is misleading. Sometimes even packages get lost. Packages arrive past delivery dates 99% of the time, even if you are sure they will arrive on the given date. Even the next facility is the destination facility, they add "transit to next facility" and make it late. They never give packages if you go to USPS facility, adding to even more frustration. Once the package was in truck and when I asked for the package, the guy said it was not with him...then upon asking again he checked and the package was there. Very irritating company.

I shipped my Christmas packages from the Post Office Priority Mail December 17th early in the morning. They were going from San Diego to Las Vegas, a 5 hour drive. The one that had my granddaughter's presents was accidentally sent to Seattle. From there it stayed "in transit" until the 24th and then it took another 2 days to get from LV distribution center to the LV Post Office. Needless to say the kids didn't get their presents for Christmas. It was finally delivered on the 26th, but a note was left on the door saying no one was home so they couldn't leave it. It was not a signature required delivery and security camera shows that the Postman never took a package to the door nor did he ring the bell. He just came and stuck the note on the door.
My daughter requested it be redelivered the next day, but instead it went back into "in transit" status. When it was not delivered the next day, she went to the PO to pick it up and they said it wasn't there, probably out for delivery... It wasn't. She went back again the 28th and was told the same thing. This time she demanded to see a supervisor and had to raise a stink. They were magically able to find the package that wasn't there. Are these people lazy and inept or scamming people our packages? My daughter said there were several other people there with the same problem getting the same BS. Some in tears. They did not listen to her until she said security camera... Suspicious?

Shippers beware: The USPS is engaging in a very sneaky and unfair practice of demanding payment of FULL COST of a new shipping label if the correct label was not selected. Here’s the scenario: if by chance you ship a Priority Mail package for let’s say $7.05, but mistakenly pack it in an -almost identical looking and also free- USPS Flat Rate Box, the USPS may at its own discretion decide to demand the cost of a Flat Rate Label from the recipient. In this case, $13.65 for size Medium. #1 - if the shipper did not take advantage of the “flat rate” version of Priority, what is the harm in accidentally selecting the freely supplied box which happens to have the words “flat rate” on it?
The flat rate and non-flat rate boxes are made of the same materials, printed with the same colors and supplied free to Shippers. The only difference between them is the presence of the words “flat rate”. #2 - Why wouldnt the USPS in this case demand just the difference in postage between flat rate and nonflat rate Priority (~$6.60), and #3 - how is it ethical for USPS to be paid twice for fulfilling only 1 Priority Mail service? If the USPS argument is that they had to put a new Flat Rate Priority Label on the Box why would the shipper not be refunded the original cost of the nonflat rate label that “could not be used”? This may be splitting hairs for the occasional shipper but for many domestic small businesses who ship 1-10 lb packages, and have the option to switch over to another reliable carrier, who by the way offers net terms and volume discount tiers, this nickel and diming by the USPS is a big deal.

I have tracked each package and all of them made it to the “Out For Delivery” stage and then changed to “Attempted to deliver - recipient requested package be held at post office”. I was home at the exact time the notifications said the delivery attempt was made for each package. I certainly did not request the packages be held at the post office. I had to take time off from my job each time to go to the post office to get my packages only to have to wait in a horrendously long line with other irritated people who also got the same tracking message and were there to pick up packages.
It literally took me almost 2 hours each time at the post office to wait in line and then once I finally made it up to the counter to wait even longer while they located my package. Several times they advised me they could not locate my package and told me to come back the next day. I asked them why the tracking says my mail carrier attempted to delivery my packages but did not leave them at my residence and they would not give me any answer. I think my mail carrier is just lazy and rather than deliver all the packages she just puts the notification that the recipient asked her to hold them at the post office so she won’t get in trouble for not delivering them.
When you order Christmas gifts 5 weeks before Christmas and they are coming from vendors within the United States, you shouldn’t have to worry that they won’t make it to you by Christmas but when my local post office takes 7-10 days to process a package to get it out for delivery or my mail carrier won’t deliver the packages, this is something I have to worry about. I order from Amazon frequently and I absolutely hate when any of my packages are being delivered by USPS. My local USPS carrier will often deliver my package to either my husband's aunt's house or to his cousin's house. We live up on a hill and my husband's aunt and cousin both live below us. So, our house numbers are close together. But, since the mail carrier has been delivering our mail for several years, it isn't irrational to expect him to be familiar with our house numbers. But apparently he isn't. When I order things, I frequently track them so I'll know when to expect them to arrive. When it shows up as "delivered" I almost always end up searching for my package whenever it states that my package was left at my door because it's never at my door.
If the mail carrier actually brings the package up to my house, he never brings it to the front door. He will either leave it in one of our vehicles in the driveway if we are home or he will leave it outside near the basement. But, sometimes it is nowhere to be found. That's when I have to call my husband's aunt or cousin to ask if my package was left at their house. Sometimes it is sitting near their front or back doors. Sometimes they haven't seen it either. Last week, I was waiting for a package from Amazon that contained Christmas gifts for my kids. The tracking showed that it was delivered. It stated that the package was "handed off". Oh really? Handed off to who? Not me or my husband. Not his cousin or aunt either. So, my husband went searching around outside his aunt's and cousin's houses.
He found my package sitting on the hood of his aunt's car out in her driveway. Her driveway isn't visible from her house as it is over to the right of her house, beyond her side yard and a large storage building that separates the yard and the driveway. So, unless she was out there in the driveway when it was delivered, she wouldn't have seen or heard the mail carrier when he left my package on the hood of her car! And he knows that the house number on my package was for the house up on the hill, not either of the two houses below it that are close to the street! I'm just angry about the tracking showing that my package was delivered and "handed off" when it clearly wasn't handed off to anyone. It was thrown on top of a car that was sitting in the driveway at the wrong address! That's just unacceptable!

Right now it’s in the NJ facility. It’s supposed to be delivered to Greer, SC. What’s it doing so far north? Why pay extra money for priority when there is no promise of priority delivery. Day for delivery was to be Dec. 18th. So frustrating. Other than going to the Estero facility, one cannot talk to an agent in less than an hour. Really?

I was sent from Florida, via first-class USPS, two different eBay parcels. One finally arrived much later than expected, but the other seems to be lost in the USPS Tracking abyss. Below is tracking info for the package that has been shuttled around Houston, TX for the past five days. Note from the tracking history that this package was sent by the North Houston Distribution Center to its "Next Facility" on Dec. 14, 7:39 a.m. That 15 mile trip took three and 1/2 days. For the record, that "Next Facility" was a post office in the wrong zip code, 25 miles east of the post office that delivers my mail. The package did not leave that location until two and 1/2 days later, when it was sent to the "Next Facility", whatever that means. One business day later, it's still sitting there.
This package was originally accepted by USPS in Florida on Dec 11, 8:46 a.m. Eight 1/2 days later, it's still out there somewhere. A few things I've learned from this experience: 1. USPS is clueless about how to conduct their own business operations. 2. Their tracking system is nothing close to real-time, and often broken. 3. USPS customer service is non-existent, either by phone or email. 4. FedEx and UPS are far more reliable options, at only slightly higher cost. I'm a frequent eBay seller. Based on this ridiculously screwed-up experience, I will never again use USPS to ship my merchandise.

If you rely on USPS to come through for you. Forget it. All this garbage about how they care and upgrading service is just that. Garbage. If you need something delivered on time go to FedEx or UPS. You see there you can actually talk to someone who knows what they are doing. Calling USPS. Don't waste your time. Once you have turned over anything to USPS it enters a void of unknown. Try getting your money back on a late delivery. No can do. I don't trust USPS to deliver weekly coupons let alone something important. Do yourself a favor. Spend a little more and relax. Go to FedEx or UPS. Heck they will come pick it up. That's just my opinion.

My priority mail is stuck over a week at an unknown location, and I'm still waiting. It was an international priority shipping from Europe to US. The item cleared the custom at 12/10 and was last scanned at 12/12 at a city about an hour driving from my location, then the package went completely silent till now (12/19). After it went silent for 3 days, I began to visit USPS. Here is the worst part: when I talk to any of their employees at local post office and 2 local sorting centers, all of them were with "go ** yourself" attitude. No one helped because no one cared. I was very polite and inquire about the package delay. They seems to know it coming.
Everyone just suddenly ignored me. I have never been so frustrated and angry. Today, one of their employees even told me he wish me to get the package after New Year. I paid USPS to deliver the package on time. If USPS can't do it, at least teach your employees to have some respect instead of showing the "**" attitude to customers. It is extremely rude and unhelpful. I am literally shaking because of anger while typing this review because of today's experience. BTW, I understand it's the busy season, but what's frustrating is the attitude. USPS is the kind of company where no one respects customers. If you decided to use it, then good luck to not get screwed up with.

My husband and I moved to a temporary address from May-June. He submitted a TEMPORARY address change for postal service, so when we moved to our permanent address in June he then changed our temporary to the permanent. Because my husband selected “and family” for our final move the post office changed my in-laws address to ours even though they were never included in the original temporary address change. My father-in-law has been to the post office to try and sort this out. It’s now been 6 months with no resolutions, so my husband and I started listing the correct address on their mail and putting it back in the mailbox. Our mail carrier has since began crossing out the address we have added, stating “correct address” on my in-laws mail pieces and putting it back in our mailbox.
I called USPS and waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for the customer service rep to tell me it was all my husbands fault because he didn’t submit separate address changes for myself and my 1 year old son, and that we had to go down to the post office and correct it (which my father-in-law has already tried to do). Apparently, since they “get these types of calls all the time”, they take no fault at all in this matter. My husband had to get online and pay to change my in-laws address back to what it’s supposed to be even though they were never on our temporary to permanent move changes. Absolutely unbelievable to wait so long, be told verbatim it’s all your fault, and offered 0 solutions, guidance, or help. Horrific customer service!

The USPS is, without a doubt, the most inefficient, poorly run government sponsored organization in existence today. In an age of internet shopping, efficient, affordable and reliable home delivery of products is essential to the economy. Checking the box for USPS delivery of your item has become the laughing stock of receiving your product in a timely manner no matter what level of service or promise date was paid for. Delivery on time is not a guarantee - only a "best effort" with no refund or compensation offered if things doing arrive on time.
My personal experience with both the Detroit Distribution Center and my letter carrier are prime examples of why this organization is such a disaster. Wait times of a few days to WEEKS for items to pass through the DDC are the norm. With no way to contact or have someone track a shipment passing through this "mail purgatory", it's anybody's guess as to when the parcel miraculously shows up on my doorstep with no record of departure, scanning or even arrival at my post office! How is that even possible? The number of online complaints, reported employee thefts and "lost" packages passing through this site are incredible - and yet it continues to be a huge KNOWN problem with no resolution.
My letter carrier is poster child for inefficiency. Deliveries routinely don't occur until after 6 pm daily with 8 pm not uncommon. This individual DRIVES to nearly every house on a street with lots 42 feet wide! I have had numerous packages that have never been delivered even though they have been scanned as such. Security cameras on my house have confirmed that there is no theft of the parcel and when checking with the local USPS, have verified that the geotagged packages were indeed scanned but not in front of my house as required but at the corner. Where they went between the corner and my address is anyone's guess. Packages that DO show up are either crammed in the mailbox or obviously thrown from the front yard to land scattered all over the front porch. Another favorite location is in the obvious wet spot directly under the gutter. Unbelievable!
There is a reason that Amazon has chosen to start its own delivery service. Their GUARANTEE of 2 day delivery cannot be consistently honored with the kind of inadequate delivery the USPS provides. Get a clue USPS!! I know my ranting here does not solve the problem but with increased dissatisfied customer feedback and boycotting of the USPS for deliveries, MAYBE things would improve. Of course, this is not a "guarantee"...

I am a shut-in and depend upon deliveries. I wish sites would offer a choice of shippers. I would opt to pay more to get FedEx, DSL, or UPS to deliver to the door. USPS delivery is a joke that isn't funny. In the past year, I have had 5 packages lost, misdelivered (not even to the same wrong address!), or delayed for more than 5 days. The carrier lies about where he put the packages and, obviously takes NO pride in his work.
Just because it was scanned doesn't mean it was correctly delivered. Reporting it does no good. They "investigate" and call me to rudely tell me it was scanned and delivered and it's now MY responsibility to go to all my neighbors to try and find out if it was misdelivered to them! Maybe make carriers take a READING test? The best thing would be to eliminate the outdated USPS from shipping choices. They may be less expensive but, as my mother said, "You get what you pay for," and we are paying for the toilet crap that is the USPS delivery "service."

I brought my packet to be shipped out on Saturday the 1st, the man at the counter put it in the wagon then we left. He said it would arrive in 2-3 days. I'm Shipping from Indianapolis to Libertyville, Illinois, a 4:30 drive and it says in transit to destination for 2 days. In this package was my phone to be mailed in and Boost would send a replacement after mine arrives to avoid theft. Even if that wasn't very smart, we are talking about the USPS. So boost sent them the information that I was coming and had printed the return label. They got it at 12:41 pm on Saturday. They don't ship on Sunday but It just moved to the distribution center yesterday the 4th of December @ 1:18 and has been in transit since. Like I said, it will only take 5 hours at most with bad traffic to get there and it hasn't arrived.
This is now on its fourth day and since the post office is cancelling the mail delivery because someone died it will likely be 5 days for it to get there. 2 extra days I might have to wait for. Next time I will just use a more respectable mail service. And just because Bush 41 died, people can't get their mail while most of everyone else in society has to keep working, "I deliver mail on behalf of the gov so I get a day off from doing nothing but making important packages late."

The commercial delivery services such as UPS and FEDEX are of course more reliable because they are non-government. I'm retired from government, and my experience is this... IF you really want something done, don't hire the government; it'll cost more for less service. Just the way life is.
My latest issue with the USPS are items scanned "Out for Delivery" but never show up. I figured the package just didn't get delivered and will be out the next day. Uh uh. At that point, it vanishes. Never delivered anywhere, never returned to the post office; as long as the tracking number link works, it will perpetually show "Out for Delivery". You can reschedule delivery too, and the rescheduled day will show up, but not the package -- it's gone, forever. Of course you file a complaint, and receive a canned email message back to the effect of "we'll look for it" but that's the last you'll hear. The latest loss was an antique pocket watch. Ouch! Before that it was a several hundred dollar automotive part. It does make me wonder where the stuff goes...stick to shoe soles?

When I call my local post office to complain about my concerns, the postal supervisors make lame, surface-level excuses for the incompetence and sheer neglect of the postal carriers. I guess what happened is that the USPS person's tiny white cart cannot immediately parked by the mailbox (usually he does and he does not need to get out of his cart when he "delivers" mails to the mailbox).
Because I parked on street and thus "blocked" mailbox and he did not bother to deliver our mail and my book. I had no other place to park because that spot is where in between my driveway and my next door neighbor's driveway. I cannot block my neighbor's driveway so that I could only park there. The reason he dares to do this, is that he is enjoying federal employee's benefits and does not care if anybody complains, he has job security no matter what. I followed instruction and now calling USPS.
The recording said the waiting time is 54-60 minutes. I've been waiting for more than 20 minutes now. Some other company, such as my local utility company, would provide an option for you to be called back, but not in this case, no option but you have to wait. This has happened time and again with EVERY delivery that required signature. Your Carrier is just too lazy to walk up the 20 steps from the mailbox to the front door and has no problem wasting my time to drive to the post office and waste at least an hour for what would have taken him just two minutes; your carrier demonstrates total disregards to the USPS customers. I will instruct all mail to be sent to me by FedEx or UPS; at least they do the job they are paid for.

In the last couple of months, they lost 3 shipments for me. I can imagine how many shipments they lose every day? When you call customer service you wait at LEAST an hour and spend another 3-5 hours trying to resolve an issue because they are rude, disrespectful, and just keep transferring your phone call or ''accidentally'' hanging up. I encourage everybody to use FedEx or USPS, you pay little more and the service is guaranteed.

It doesn't matter if you pay an additional charge for shipping, it almost becomes a necessity to purchase faster shipping just so you gain a slight chance to receive your item on time. They like to wait until the last minute possible until they have to put their Burger King onion rings and sloppy burger bag down to deliver your grease, germ covered item that came out of their 1997 rusty sedan. Come on guys. Let's leave it to the pros and not the minimum wage part time negligents. I only put 1 star because I had to and because unlike UPS or FedEx they will leave your item there instead of taking it back because no one was home.

They lose mail regularly. It takes forever when it does arrive. The local P.O. (Stillwater KS) WILL NOT ANSWER THEIR PHONE, forced to call 1-800 # and wait on hold for over an hour if you have a complaint. When an item needs to be signed for and you go to usps.com/redeliver to request redelivery, then sign the form and leave it at your door...they will accept your request on the website and tell you it will be on its way but then they don't redeliver.
And they don't attempt to contact you, either. They will hold your package hostage at their location, which is only open from 9-5 mind you. (HELLO, the rest of the world actually WORKS for a living.) And you can't call them to work out a resolution. (Did I mention THEY DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE?) For everyone who thinks socialism is a good idea, do you really want every service in your life to be as "good" as the one-star rated USPS? This is what happens when the government tries to run a "business". What a fricken racket.

Hi. I am really angry that my package was supposed to be delivered. It hasn't been delivered. Also I had placed a call to the customer service center for help with my package and waited on hold for 1 and a half hrs and got no answer from any customer service rep. I do understand this is a busy time of year for package delivery however I have been waiting on this package for 6 days now and still have no answers to where my package is. The informed delivery is down for fixing. When I call to track my package all it says is (In Transit) which it has stated for a few days now because this has not been being updated to inform me of my package properly. USPS needs to pull it together and get more customer service reps to fix the prolonged hold time of 1 or 2 hrs. USPS also needs to get the delivery issues sorted to provide customers their packages when they are supposed to arrive not late or lost.

I pay for priority 3 day on time shipping and 7 days later item gets to my customers so now customers are upset and leave poor reviews on my page. USPS DOES NOT CARE. They tell you the 3 days are not guaranteed YET THEY STILL CHARGE YOU FOR THIS SERVICE!!! If they charge you for a service and do not provide it! Is that not fraud!!! If I wanted economy shipping I would of paid for just that service! Not the 25 dollars for priority mail service! They should refund the cost of the difference for nonperformance!!! THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, I HAVE SOLD ITEMS FOR THE LAST 12 YEARS ONLINE and this has never changed no matter how many times you contact USPS. They just don't care!!!

On 10/5/18 I ordered shoes that were supposed to be delivered by USPS. I get an email stating that my package was delivered to a parcel locker in my apt complex. It read it was delivered on 10/13/18. Went down to ask the front desk if they left a key to open the parcel box but they said I would have to call the post office to access it since no key was left in my mailbox either. Saw a mailperson outside days later, still had not received my box, so asked if they would open all of the parcel boxes so that I could check for the one that was mine, nothing. 3 weeks go by after promised delivery date was sent to me via email. I just assumed I'd be getting an access key in my mailbox when my box finally did arrive.
After too much waiting, I called USPS tracked my package # & was told by a recording that my box had been taken back to the post office the same day it was delivered, on 10/31. Mind you, the email that stated it was delivered read 10/13. How does that work? So I talk to a USPS rep to try to find out what post office my box was sent to, when he tells me it wasn’t at the post office, it was headed back to the delivery headquarters from where I first bought it! I am now furious, & frustrated. Every piece of delivery information I got was wrong. He tells me I need to call the retailer. I call, & explain the situation as best I can since it's insane at this point, & they tell me it couldn't be delivered due to an address fumble. I didn’t mess up my own address, they did.
This rep tells me she can’t redeliver my box but can reorder the item & adjust the price so that I wouldn’t have to pay more than what I originally paid, which is only fair! I agree, because I only wanted my pretty shoes in the first place, & ask the rep if she can leave a note for the delivery driver to drop the new box off in front of my doorstep. She says she can’t do that, so I just give up & get my refund surrendering my shoes simply because USPS has no clue what they are doing. I will only order if it’s delivered by FedEx now. Worst service ever.

They allowed me to schedule a re-delivery of my item but never delivered it! The customer service representative kept insisting that I go to the post office & pick it up. I explained to her (nicely) twice before I got ride that I do not have transportation. Why do you offer re-delivery service if you don't plan to REDELIVER?!?! Customers rates this filth of a company 1 star but employees rates are 3.5/4?!? Something ain't right!! If I see that a company is USPS as the delivery service I will definitely think twice about purchasing whatever it is!!!

I heard no knock on the door, but the tracking site updated with the following: "We were unable to attempt delivery of your item on November 5, 2018 at 12:25 pm in WILLIAMSPORT, PA 17701 due to interference by an animal. Your item will go out for delivery on the next business day as conditions permit." If I discover that a wolf, a big cat, or a bear was in the street in front of my house; I'll update this review. The more likely possibility is that the delivery driver was being lazy.

Next day I leave my apartment to find a letter stating that they attempted. They never came to my door. I call the office with my complaint and ask for next day re-delivery. I monitored the package and it never came. US Postal Service does not honor re-delivery, nor do they the first attempt. Horrible. US POST OFFICE DOES NOT HONOR THEIR INSURANCE CLAIMS. I will never use them again for shipping; I will only use UPS or FedEx. I bought from a good vendor on Etsy who shipped a a fairly light, portable typewriter (well-packaged, well protected) to me with insurance from US post office. Package was damaged - looked like it was dropped from a height - seriously damaged the typewriter with a huge dent in the front. Seller filed a claim. I received a letter with claim number and took the letter, product and all packaging materials to this post office so they could "inspect" the package, per their instructions on the claim form. I got to local post office and was told "We don't process claims." Basically, "We can't help you." Uhhh. Well, who does? "St. Louis, Missouri. You need to call them and deal with them." Ridiculous. There's not even a telephone number on their claim form. Hmm wonder why.
Since that was unacceptable to me, a woman came up from the back, took the product and said "I'll take care of it" and walked away, giving me no receipt, no documentation, no information, but lots of attitude. So I stayed and questioned that. I'm not going to give you my product without proper documentation. Every time I asked a question or asked for service, they gave me the run-around. It was terribly unprofessional and they just deflected responsibility. This is for insurance that was purchased! I've since found out they are notorious for being problematic with their shipping. And the lack of understanding of procedure and attitude at this post office - unacceptable. Will not be doing business with them again. Don't ship anything valuable, insured, or fragile through the US Post Office.

I have had more than my share of bad experiences with the USPS and avoid having anything ship with them when I can. I recently placed an order online for something and was not able to pick another delivery method. The tracking details haven't been updated since 10/22 and it shows as "Acceptance pending" I have been calling the post office where the package is supposed to be and, for the past 4 days, I have not been able to get through to anyone and I'm given a message stating that the person's mailbox is full.
I tried calling other post offices in the area in hopes of getting a sympathetic ear but I am simply unable to get to a live person. I contacted the main number only to be told that the current wait times are between 48 minutes to an hour. This experience only serves to reinforce my belief that the USPS is one of, if not THE worst agency to deal with. Complete incompetence, lack of customer service and overall uselessness. As I sit here listening to the hold music in hopes someone would pick up while I type this review, I am utterly disgusted at this current experience.

I had to give 50 kinds of information and just to get an update on the status of my package after I entered the tracking number. Apparently the COMPUTER could not find my tracking number or did not like the information that I gave verbally. So they said they were going to connect me to someone that could help me. FINALLY!!! I am a former USPS employee and the service I have re as a customer has been declining year after year. The Elkton post office is by far the worst experience I have had this year. I recently moved and my neighborhood has cluster boxes. I was required to pay $40.00 to change the lock on the cluster box. That was 10/16/18. To date I still do not have access to my mail. I had to file a formal complaint online and then received two phone calls informing me they changed the lock on the box. If that was done it wasn't on the right box. When I called back I was told, "I don't know what happened, maybe they changed the wrong lock." So now I have to take more time off work to further review, not necessarily resolve, the issue.
If you are going to require payment to change the lock, management should be able to ensure the work was done, and in a timely manner. The 800# had me on hold for 64 minutes and then hung up on me. The USPS is a disaster area, hiring permanent employees instead of the current CCA or other temporary positions may help with having worthwhile employees. Disgruntled,

Well, unfortuantely, USPS is delivering just about everything that I've ordered. They told me my first package should arrive by Thursday at 8 pm last week. I got super excited that it would be here so soon. Well, I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up, because they never delivered my item. I tracked it online, and it was not detailed by any means. They told me when it left the original facility and then they didn't update it again until today, almost a week after the initial update.
They said that my package was still on the way, but that it would be arriving later than expected. They didn't even tell me when it would be here!!! Well up until a little while ago, I had no clue when it would be here. I received a text notification that my package was being held at the customer's request. I did not request that my package be held. I did ask the substitute driver if he had a package for me. He said he didn't know if it was on the truck because they pulled him from Republic. I told him to knock when he came back with my package so that I would know it was there. I was pleasant. I was hopeful that I'd get my package. He didn't knock of course. It was almost 7pm. It was dark. It was cold. I guess he wanted to go home or something.
I do not drive. In order for me to get my package I would have to spend between $25 and $30 for a taxi or Uber. That's like paying quadruple shipping. I think it is terribly unfair for me to pay extra and to have do the job of the Post Office. The Post Office has 2 choices now. The first choice is to bring my package to me. The second choice is to ship it all the way back to the United Kingdom from whence it came. I'm cool with that second choice because I'll get my money back.
Here is what else I will do. I will call the company in the UK and ask if it's possible to have future orders shipped through UPS. I will explain to them that delivery exceptions occur frequently and it's not due to theft. I will explain that it is due to service quality problems with our postal system. I will tell them how many times I've had to track down missing packages and pay up to $30 to go get a package that was supposed to be sent to my home.
I will go to the Facebook group where I found out about this product - it's yarn by the way. I will tell them how poorly our local Post Office does its job and how much I wish I could be using this yarn to make my friend's Christmas present. I will also purchase that product from the one retailer in the United State that sells it and have it delivered to my PO Box. I'll just pick it up when I grab the mail from my box.
I will also contact the postmaster general of the United States in writing. I'm going to email every state and federal representative and senator. I am going to contact a local television station and ask them to investigate our local post office and the delivery exceptions that are routine. It's not just me. Look at the reviews for the local Post Office especially the facility located at Bennet and West Bypass.
