I've had a very bad experience with 465 Fordham Road Post Office. I personally have over a hundred complaints, from now and dated back to 2012. I've had 45 packages lost. I've been put on hold, it hung up on, more times than I can count. As we speak I have two open cases. It's very stressful, but I'm so glad I can share it with others.

Yesterday I mailed a small package from Alpharetta, Georgia to Atlanta, Georgia with an estimated delivery of COB today. Atlanta is 40 minutes to Atlanta - in traffic. This afternoon, I received tracking details that the package was in a distribution center in Newark, NJ. Why would USPS have to ship something from Georgia to NJ back to Georgia? This is why UPS/Fedex are preferred over USPS. USPS has such an archaic system; it's overpriced for the services it provides. USPS cannot possibly survive a future without techno/eco savvy shipping and delivery services.

I shipped a box from Eaton Colorado to myself in La Honda CA on the 12th and was told it would be in La Honda on the 18th... However something happened and what usually takes one day to get to Denver Colorado from Eaton took over a week! I just received the package on the 28th, 16 days later, and when I opened it half of my contents were missing. Called local post office and without insurance there was nothing they could do or would do! The box wasn't damaged but had been retaped by someone. So where did my stuff go? They must have randomly packaged up the contents because I had a sock and a photo that wasn't mine. I will never use USPS again and hope they go out of business soon. To think this is a government institution and if you tamper with the mail it’s a federal offense however, they can do whatever they want with your mail!!!

USPS has to be the worst company in American in regards to how they treat customers. After my package was marked as "delivered" I was surprised to find it now in my mailbox. I figured ok well I suppose I'll call them, and ask about this. For 2 hours and 9 minutes I waited. That is absurd to think it's in any way ok to make someone wait for 2 hours. Then I was informed that my package was most likely placed in the wrong mailbox. Ok well surely they could just send someone out real quick to get it fixed right? Nope they said I'd hear something back within 2-3 days?!

Are you kidding me? How on earth could they think it's appropriate to not do anything about it for 2-3days!!! Even worse after waiting they still had no idea where the package was, and I was told there was nothing they could do. Honestly I think everyone knows how poor USPS is, but nobody knows what to do about it. I just wish companies like Amazon would stop using their service, as it is complete trash.

These days, UPS is so much more expensive than USPS, so we use the post office. Plus, they have locations everywhere and their tracking has become more efficient. It remains a wonder to me that for just 50 cents, you can mail a letter anywhere in the U.S. and it will be there in just 2-3 days. In order for me to UPS or FedEx a letter anywhere in the U.S., it will cost me between $16 - $68, depending upon whether I want it to go 2-day or overnight and that is ridiculous. Packages are even higher now. Whereas a decade ago, it made sense to use UPS or FedEx, that is simply no longer the case with USPS' capabilities.

I sent a book to an friend I had lost touch with just before Christmas. I chose regular parcel post; cost about $4.50. I didn't know he had moved and his forwarding time had elapsed. I thought the package would be returned, but it wasn't. I later learned that the low rate packages if unable to be delivered just get thrown away. Even a $0.50 envelope is returned. So, I am out a $20 book and the cost to ship it. I was told there is nothing I can do. I was never told that if the package could not be delivered it would just be tossed in the trash!

My package was supposed to be here on the 22nd of January. It is now the 27 and my package keeps going around in a circle. The first time they sent it to Kinston North Carolina from Fayetteville and it's supposed to go to New Bern North Carolina. Kinston sent it back to Fayetteville claiming they don't have a direct route to New Bern, then Fayetteville sent it to Ohio and then West Virginia and then they sent it to Greensboro. Now usually when I get a package that goes to Greensboro it comes straight to New Bern but this time Greensboro sent it back to Fayetteville and it's just going around in a circle. I do not know if the label is messed up or what is going on. I'd rather they return it back to Las Vegas to the sender instead of just having my package go around in a circle and never get it New Bern.

I called the people. I emailed them. They're not telling me anything that I don't already know because of a tracking number. Now this is ridiculous. They have to find a better way than this. I've learned my lesson. The $30 that I spent on the contents of the package I already know that's loss. I won't ever do this again. Now when I deal with Amazon I don't have any trouble like this. Either somebody don't know how to read labels or that label is damaged by now traveling all around the world to everywhere but New Bern.

I live in a huge apt complex in NYC and our mail delivery person is generally excellent, but our Post Office (Peter Stuyvesant Town Retail Unit) is consistently horrible when it comes to delivering mail/packages that require signature. They don't even attempt delivery. They just leave a notice and expect you to go to the P.O. and stand in line for 1-2 hours to pick it up. Re-delivery is not an option. They will make appointments for re-delivery (for my certified return receipt mail they made 4 re-delivery appointment, but RE-DELIVERY NEVER ATTEMPTED). My letter, barcode number ** notice was left 12-20-18. I followed directions on the notice but my letter was not in the system for re-delivery, so I called (800) ASK USPS. Made 1st re-delivery appt (Conf. #**) -- I sat home and waited all day -- no delivery. Called again, CA **, Conf #**, Case #**, made another re-delivery appt, again no re-delivery.

Spoke to the supv. at the P.O. who made another appt, and again, no show. Then, again, another appt, with no re-delivery. I filed an email complaint, Case #**, and also filed a complaint with the FTC, Ref. #**. If I knew who this letter was from, I would just call them and find out what it is about, but the "sent by" line on the notice is ineligible, so it could be important. I have told USPS I am disabled and cannot stand in line for 1-2 hours, or I would just do that. In the 28-29 yrs I have lived in S/T, signature-required mail is never delivered (only notices) which is why the lines at the Post Office are so long.

USPS only delivers packages to the correct address 30% of the time. They continually leave items in the wrong mailbox, or at the base of a mailbox and refuse to leave on the front porch. If a complaint is made, they just put a sticky note to pick up at the post office. When a customer arrives at the post office, they say the parcel is out for delivery. After two days, no delivery is made and then another inquiry is made. At this point they say that it was successfully delivered, so a claim is filed, but they won't take responsibility since they 'have record of delivery'. About a month later, a neighbor realizes they have the wrong package and delivers it to the correct address, providing proof that the USPS carrier did not deliver correctly. This scenario continues to go on and on.

There is no comparison between the post office service and UPS. Whereas UPS throws (yes, THROWS) the packages onto our porch, the mail carriers ALWAYS rings our bell and places our packages neatly in the corner of our porch. I would especially like to mention that, early on Christmas Eve, as we were literally pulling out of the driveway for a 3-hour trip without our grandson's gifts (which was delayed by the seller), our postal carrier pulled up behind our car and placed the boxes in the trunk of our car! Normally, because of the layout of his route, our mail does not arrive until much later in the day, but because he noticed the shipper, he said he "had a feeling" it was supposed to have arrived sooner and he wanted to make sure it got to us "before Santa left." HE was our real Santa that day!

While I acknowledge that UPS drivers are hard-workers with a lot of pressure, none of the drivers on our route have ever been very friendly; however, every USPS mail carrier on this route in 10 years has been beyond pleasant and treated our packages with care. When my spouse was incapacitated, a couple carriers even hand-delivered our mail to the house, rather than leave it in our mailbox across the street. I have nothing but kind words about our postal workers - both the carriers and the workers at the local office.

You just can't count on the USPS. Ever. My Manhattan (Hell's Kitchen) USPS carriers don't bother to ring the buzzers in our apartment building to find out if we're home or to let us know we have a package. They just dump the packages in the lobby and leave. Last week my intercom buzzed and it was the postman. I was shocked! They were actually letting me know my package had arrived! I said "I'll be right down" and when I arrived, there was a package in the outside vestibule where anyone walking by the building could help themselves, AND THE PACKAGE WASN'T EVEN FOR ME!!! She had the nerve to enlist me to come downstairs and move the package into the lobby for her! I ran outside and the carrier was already getting into her vehicle.

Last week I waited all day for my medication to arrive and found a "package was delivered" notice online. I went down to the lobby and there was no package. Was it stolen? Was it even delivered? There's no way to find out what happened. BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T RING MY APARTMENT BUZZER LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO!! So I reordered the medication, this time with "Signature Required". It was supposed to arrive yesterday. Again, I waited all day long, checked online and found a "Unable to Deliver" notice. I went down to the lobby and found a "sorry we missed you" notice in my mailbox. THEY NEVER RANG MY BUZZER!

I went to the post office at 8:00 am the following morning to intercept the package (so it wouldn't spend another day on a truck and I wouldn't get another "sorry we missed you" slip) and they couldn't find the package. They gave me two phone numbers to call to complain about the carrier problems. One number was out of service, and the other rings but nobody ever answers. None of this is new. I've lived in the same building for 25 years and more often than not, I get "sorry we missed you" slips in my mailbox when I'm home, and have to go pick up the package at the post office first thing in the morning if I want the package that day, or risk another "sorry we missed you" slip. There are no reasonable hours to pick up items and they force you to do so if you want your mail. Carriers are lazy—they do not attempt to deliver items and default to pink slips—it’s infuriating to find a “sorry I missed you” slip when you are home all day—often in your mailbox because they didn’t even attempt to deliver the item/see if you are home! When you escalate they claim ridiculous reasons unsupported by their policy and defend horrible service with made-up reasons.

The supervisor at my local Apison TN branch told me the carrier couldn’t ring my doorbell for a signature for a package because there is no paved sidewalk up to my door and it’s unsafe for the carrier to step on grass. My 3-year-old twins can get to the front door no problem. Not to mention, no one even attempted to ring the bell or even drive down the driveway—notice was left in my mailbox. They also don’t deliver boxes they say are too big because they say they don’t fit in their vehicle. Why would you allow something to be shipped via your service if you can’t fit it in the delivery vehicle?

I can’t wait until the USPS goes under. I am livid my taxes pay for rudeness, for someone be paid to blatantly not do their job, and for there to be no accountability or customer service, no means for correction of the behaviors. If it were up to me I would pull the plug on this inefficient and defunct organization. Good luck getting jobs in the real world, where there are performance standards and accountability USPS workers.

Though I have POLITELY complained a # of times about the following, all I'm ever told, is to register an account on their website, THEN I'd have the opportunity to take care of my issue THERE... Well, that's simply NOT TRUE. I've ordered packages from Amazon, who gives buyers an opportunity to type any important delivery description, for the local delivery person TO READ... & being that I'm temporarily staying in a motel, I NEEDED to take advantage of this.

In short, ALL I'VE NEEDED (& STILL DO NEED), is to have the mailperson simply READ that IMPORTANT DELIVERY DESCRIPTION, LOCATED ON THE OUTSIDE OF EACH PACKAGE!!! All I politely ask there, is to knock on my ground-floor door (which opens up to the outside... My room # is always given), just to hand me my packages DIRECTLY (because I don't particularly trust the people running this motel, nor the security of that lobby)... which reminds me of the SECOND issue I actually have with the USPS... Why (on their website) do they post the delivery time, at minimum, a half-hour after they drop off a package, and why don't they type some description of the person they hand my packages to?!?!

I have no idea where my package is now thanks to these morons. Who knows if I will even receive it now, given this sorry excuse for a mail delivery service's track record. If only USPS had intelligent people working for them, maybe they would have a better reputation.

As regular people they are fine but as far as their work ethic and quality of service goes, they are lacking. They mix up our mail and often I get others mail and vice versa. Anyway, I had to reschedule the delivery but this time USPS did not deliver the package at all! I called customer service, through Amazon, because I couldn’t get through on my own and they established a connection. The USPS representative gave me a case number and said I would be contacted to get the package sent out.

Well guess what...no one ever contacted me! So, once again I had to call Amazon and receive their assistance. The Amazon representative sent me another item but unfortunately it was sent through USPS again. The package was tracked all the way until late Friday night where the tracking information says package will still be shipped tonight but it is almost 10:00 pm where I live. So, needless to say I called Amazon again and had a refund processed. I would to only have my items shipped through UPS, or FedEx but unfortunately that isn’t my choice to make!

Good morning and happy Wednesday. So, I just wanna do a quick review because I, quite frankly, don't think that the United States Postal Service has any accountability anymore. There's no deadlines anymore. If it's not there by the deadline, not delivered by the deadline, well, that's okay because they don't have to stick with any deadlines. I have a package that was shipped on the 4th of January, and it said it was given to USPS on the 6th of January in New Jersey, and then nothing happened. When I finally got a hold of the company that shipped it, they said I should have had it by the 14th, I didn't. So, they returned it and did a return for me. But my issue is, once I called and addressed this specific tracking number, the package suddenly appeared at my post office on the 15th, which was yesterday. And now, this was probably 3:00 in the afternoon yesterday. And so, I'm like, "Okay. Well, maybe I'm gonna get this package after all." Well, then this morning comes and it's still sitting at the post office. It's not out for delivery. Apparently, they now have two business days from the time it gets to the post office. So, I'm just saying that there's no accountability at all. If there's any way that I can use FedEx, or UPS, or DHL, I do. I try to not use the postal service at all. But obviously, a lot of companies-- I still have to deal with the United States Postal Service. So, I just think that they need to have accountability. There needs to be deadlines. There needs to be things in order and then enforced that makes them get the packages-- we've had packages that have not been delivered because no one's been there. I'm disabled and I'm at home 99% of the time, so it's not that I'm not there. So, hopefully, this is helpful. I don't recommend the United States Postal Service for anything. I'd go with your other avenues if possible. If not, you kinda have to deal. Thanks.

This is about the current processes at USPS that can be improved. I came to local office to ask for detail about package not being delivered while tracking number showed delivered. What should happen: agent file a claim on my behalf, and someone at USPS works on the case. What actually happened: they asked me to call the distant distribution center myself. They only responsible for collecting fee and push it to their queue to enrouting. Second problem: Phone wait is as usual long. 1 800 222 1811 for tracking question, take 1 hour long of wait still no one picking up. If you lost receipt, you can't track item. They can only look up your credit card transaction within 7 days from transaction date. This data should be at least 30 days backdate. 7 days is too little.

The cost would be appropriate if it got to its destination when promised. The fact that a package can be sent to the wrong address with not only the correct address but the correct zip means some one is slacking on the job. Too much money for the poor service.

USPS services is cheaper than all the other companies. Their delivery info has been right on target and sometimes delivered pkgs earlier. Their prices are way more reasonable and cheaper than the other companies' high prices and unreliable deliveries.

While shipping packages out of state over the holidays, I looked at the online site to determine if I used 3-day Priority would it arrive before Christmas Day. The site said (not verbatim) 'ship on Thursday in the above manner mentioned and it will be received by Christmas Eve 2018.' When I got to the post office the lady who took my packages not only told me to 'slide them toward her onto the scale myself (???)' but that it had an 'estimated arrival time of Christmas Eve.' I told her what the USPS online site delivery schedule said and she said 'at this point nothing is guaranteed.' As well, I wanted to insure one package for $500.00 and she failed to add that to the package (thankfully it arrived safe), and when she was finished sticking labels and postage on packages she merely 'tossed' them into a bin behind her, never looking over her shoulder.

Total and complete disregard for not only customer service but for 'what did not belong to her,' I suppose. I can understand there are 'busy times' every day of the year for many companies but this post office is this way each day it is open. Always making it a hassle, a one-man show most of the time, no hurry as they are on the clock and well, the USPS in Georgia never gets in a hurry. They cannot even put my mail in my mailbox. I own a townhome and it ends up in my neighbor's box - to the left and right - and I get their mail. It's very frustrating to say the least.

Excellent service... except for the wait-in-line at counter normally due to customers not having packages ready. Recommend a sign telling customers to have all of their packages labelled & addressed before meeting a postal agent. This will improve efficiency/productivity while making customer who are in line with all packages/envelopes properly labelled & addressed happier.

I have not only contacted my local postmaster but have personally spoken with my postal carrier all to no avail. I have had a full length, puffy coat crammed into my mailbox, all books I order end up with broken bindings and bent and again crammed into my mailbox, anything glass is done for, and because I live in a third floor apartment, my mail carrier refuses to walk up the stairs to deliver anything. Today he left a box of books that he evidently could not cram into my box on the last step of the second flight of stairs. I ended up tripping and falling over it as it was nearly invisible against the grain of the wooden stairs. My dog fell as well. It was a disaster. I am disabled (and also have severe damage to my left leg) and I go up and down those stairs more than a few times each day with the dog. I keep them totally clean of snow and ice and spend a small fortune on ice melt.

My Federal Express carrier, UPS and DHL carriers all thank me for keeping the stairs so clean. My FedEx carrier brings my dogs food up those stairs monthly. He never complains and is always lovely to deal with. The ONLY carriers I have a problem with are my USPS carrier and the local postmaster. I have contacted the Postmaster (locally) a couple of times and asked what could be done and he was so rude. He told me unless I had an elevator my carrier does not have to deliver the package at all! I told him how often my mail is on the ground, in the street or driveway because he jams so much into the box it won't shut tightly. He said, "Did that happen today?" I said, "No, but, my box WAS left wide open as well as the other two mailboxes next to mine." He said, "I know that's not true because I delivered the mail to your apartment building today!"

I told him, well then I guess that pretty much tells me why my regular carrier behaves as he does. I asked him how I could contact the PostMaster General in DC and he laughed at me and said anything I have a problem with, HE is as high as I could go. That there is absolutely NO WAY and NO ADDRESS or customer service to speak to except him! I really hate being lied to. The PostMaster General in Washington DC is named Megan ** and the address to write to is 475 L'Enfant Plaza Washington, DC 20260 for anyone else who is given the "wrong" information. I hope more people write to the DC office. No amount of complaining or getting angry will change situations like this unless enough people TAKE ACTION!

Please write to Megan ** at the Washington DC office and let her know what is going on in your town or city. I personally believe too much power is given to the local Postmasters. Mine is obviously high on himself and believes it is alright to lie to people. He most certainly knew what the address was to the DC office and should not be telling people HE is the final word on all matters concerning the mail in my small city and that there is NO SUCH ADDRESS or ANYONE other than himself to complain to. The mail is supposed to be the BEST way to receive things our loved ones have sent us, bills that need to be paid and packages we as consumers pay for, INCLUDING the cost to mail it to us!

I should not have to live in a building with an elevator to have a healthy young man walk up three flights of stairs to deliver a package. If I can go up and down these stairs, keep them free of snow and ice while being disabled, missing part of my left leg and a few months away from 60 years old, then why, can't a healthy young man walk up those same stairs. USPS in my town should be totally ashamed and chastised for their horrible attitudes and bad behavior towards its customers. I also get tired of having to pay extra to other shipping companies because I cannot trust USPS to get my purchases to me in one piece. Time for a change! I do so hope Ms. ** will read the letter I will be sending her.

I mailed 5 boxes from Marietta, GA on Dec 31, 2018 priority 2-day delivery and up to now 4 boxes have not been received. 3 of them were sent to FL, 2 to the same address. I filed a "missing mail" complaint on all 5 boxes. The 2 that were sent to the same address ended up in 2 different locations in MD!! I waited on hold for 1 hour and 15 mins before I got to speak to someone at USPS who gave me Case #s for each missing box and told me I would receive a call from the P.O. within 48-72 hours. I got 1 phone call from NY saying the box never reached her P.O. and therefore she was closing her file!! I filed a complaint with the Postmaster General and suddenly I started receiving texts regarding their locations. None have been delivered as of today Jan 13, 2019.

I sent some Christmas gifts out the day after Christmas, using Priority Mail. After 4 straight days of tracking the package and seeing “your package will arrive later than expected but is still on its way”, I realized that it was likely lost. I tried calling customer service, but got disconnected every time and never got to speak to anyone. I then sent an email, and was contacted by the local USPS post office guy. He couldn’t find my package, and he couldn’t find the contents either.

I was then advised to file an insurance claim online. I’ve been trying to do that for the past 3 days, and it keeps saying there was an error processing my request. It says to call the tech support number. So, I called that number and waited on hold for an hour and a half!! Only to be told that the website is experiencing known issues and there is nothing they can do about it. What a joke! Who knows if I’ll ever get my money back. USPS has become untrustworthy lately; I can’t count on them to handle and deliver my mail safely. I am beyond frustrated.

USPS is a joke! Case 1: Put in a hold mail request over Thanksgiving. Received email confirmation of the request, the start *and* the end of the hold mail period. Went to pick up my mail and they had no idea I had even put in the request (the local office did confirm I was in the right place, and had held mail for other apartments in my building). Still haven't gotten my week's worth of lost mail after getting in touch with customer support. Case 2: Ordered some clothes to my Queens apartment. The clothing company only had my Queens address on file. USPS decided to reroute it to my old Brooklyn apartment. Package was supposed to arrive today and it's still somewhere in Brooklyn having recently been "forwarded". Yeah, no duh.

The USPS has become totally unreliable. I ordered a product on December 28, 2018 which was shipped on a timely basis on December 31. Unfortunately, they shipped via USPS. The item was received at Plano, TX on December 31, but not processed ("accepted") until January 7, 2019! They sat on that package for an entire week before processing it. To make matters worse, It has still not been delivered, and the tracking system tells me that it is In Transit to the next facility. Expected delivery date have come and gone. There is absolutely no way to find out where my package actually is, or if it has been stolen by a Post Office employee, damaged, or just plain lost.

Meanwhile, I am out the nearly 250 dollars I paid for the item and can't afford to buy another one! The seller is not responsible for the careless negligence of USPS. And just to add insult to injury, the Post Office just delivered a Christmas card to my residence that was mailed on December 16, 2018 from a City only 30 miles away!

Holiday gift checks have never been received and they were sent on December 15th from FL to RI. Then a check mailed from a totally different location in FL to pay a bill 2 weeks in advance. Never arrived to its destination a couple blocks away and it is a month later. It seems that ONLY mail with checks enclosed around the December holiday season have NEVER arrived and it has been a month now since being collected by USPS. All other mail has been delivered timely. Surely something very suspect is going on when this undelivered and missing mail is ONLY mail with checks enclosed and involves 2 completely different states, but all were sent from FL, just completely different ends of the state and from different people. Is mail scanned by USPS for workers to know there are checks enclosed? What are the odds of only and ALL check enclosed holiday cards and bills in the mail to go missing?
