Excellent online and counter assistance. Lacking in delivery responsiveness. Unable to follow packaging instructions. Rushed drivers lack necessary care in placing packages in safe locations. Customer service follow ups are defensive and lack the care expected in today's service oriented world.

They will show in tracking that a package will leave a facility then go to another and then back to that facility before going to another only to repeat the process again. Total waste of time, money and resources.

This company in no way handles any packages with care. I have seen them deliver packages to the apartment complex that I reside at and they drop, throw, toss and pile heavy packages on top of packages that says handle with care or it say fragile. Boxes are busted open peoples item are hanging out or just out on the floor broken. Liquid spilled all over the floor from busted packages etc. I have returned multiple packages to stores due to being extremely damaged or have had to just toss them in the garbage, thank God some of the store understand and will refund or replace after sending photos of the damaged boxes and item.

The Postal Service often times is not careful with packages as I have received some damaged ones in the past. Also, even when I am home and my car is visibly parked in my driveway, they will just leave a package and not ring the doorbell to let me know a package is sitting there. I have been a victim of porch pirates in the past.

I honestly really like USPS. I've done a lot of business with them lately. They may not have the fastest shipments, but they absolutely have the best value. +25% shipping time for -50% cost? Absolutely. Unless I need to move it overnight, then I will go with another shipping company. Also is very nice to have such low costs when shipping at the book rate.

At my local post office the staff are incredibly helpful with all of the USPS products. I send several packages weekly all over the US and I have only had one problem out of the hundreds of packages I’ve sent and not because of the post office. I did not know the packaging from the USPS was specifically provided for certain labels. I was mortified that a packaged has been return with a note stating this was the wrong packaging. This cost me loss of funds, but when I went to the post office I was explained the reasoning behind this and since then I have had zero issues.

Recently, I was waiting for a package that was brought to my house. The package wasn’t left. But, a note was left regarding the attempt to deliver. The note apparently blew away before I got home. A few days later I went to my local post office and the postal representative went out of her way to search for the package and contacted the delivery person for my area in an attempt to locate it. It is a direct reflection of a commitment to quality service to its suppliers and the community they serve. I have shipped with USPS, UPS and FEDEX. All of them have shipped within their time frame. The question is what shape the shipments were delivered in. UPS indicated I needed to ship in their box in order for it to ship in good condition. In 40 years I never heard that but they changed owners so that explains that. USPS consistently sends shipment at lower cost, within time frame, no excess surcharges, fuel charge, etc. Packages arrive in perfect condition and I can check on line to see delivery progress. OK, taking the quick list provided, I start with "price". For services offered ("Priority", 1st Class, &c.) & price charged, truth is, it's actually all the same service, except the very low-end (Parcel Post, media, &c.). Everything goes into bags that go into trucks that follow the very same route. (Easy fact to be verified, if need be.) Then, as with putting 8oz. coffee in a 1lb. can & charging the 1lb. price (because customers don't notice), USPS make the "free" boxes MUCH smaller & charge the same price. "Time scale": I strongly encourage customers to ask where their mail/parcels travel. USPS will send mail to "hubs", some, many miles in the opposite direction of destination, then to "sub hubs" rather than a "most direct". Carbon print? Gas prices? Customers pay the difference. Compare delivery times to UPS.
When items travel UPS vs. USPS-to-USPS, there's at least a day longer when USPS is involved. "Quality of Care". I recently heard a local clerk laughing when she admitted "I don't tamper with the mail... except 'Mr. X's' political mail. HE gets mail from [politician(s)] & sometimes I'll draw 'frowny faces' on it or if I'm bogged, I just let that stiff wait." Also over-heard a carrier joke about the names they have for "parcel tosses", depending on size, weight, & yes, destination. My personal experiences include going to the post office to retrieve my own parcels to find them on a filthy floor, often wet from rain or snow, stored on the corner of the box, &c. Speaking with the clerk I've been told, "We do what we have to, considering what we have to work with. You got your box. Right?" I'll add: Mature, responsible confidentiality... None.
USPS has specific "rules" about not speaking about peoples' mail but many has been the time when I've heard a local clerk, on duty, at the counter, discussing "late notices", political mailings, company bills, personal postcards, &c. across the counter, referring to 3rd parties not present. Complaints sent to USPS result in rote responses & the habit never changes.

They employ managers that don't know how to print pick up slips. They forget daily pickups all the time. One box was left at a clearly vacant house next door even though it was obvious no one lives there and my home is clearly marked. It sat on that porch for a month before I noticed it and decided to take a look. My mail is often left in the neighbor's mailbox and I get mail for people who live in entirely different neighborhoods in my own mailbox. I've had issues with the delivery person not re-delivering packages/knocking on the door to begin with in Philadelphia too but that's easier to let slide, a package can't just be stuffed in a mailbox and perhaps they're overworked. On Dec 20th 2019, I paid $10 for 2 day shipping to send a package to a friend staying at her mother's house in Oregon for the holidays. The estimated delivery date was 12/23. The package was mistakenly sent to Washington, and stayed at a facility there for a WHOLE MONTH. During this time, the tracking number claimed the package was "in transit," which led me to believe the mistake was being remedied. Meanwhile, my friend went back home to California after the holidays. The package is still in limbo, but now even if it did end up at the address I sent it to, my friend would not be there to receive it, because of a mistake made BY THE POSTAL SERVICE.
I wanted this mistake fixed, so I called customer service, and they told me my only option was an intercept of the package, which is going to cost me $25 IN ADDITION to the $10 I already paid for a service that was NEVER FULFILLED. I have tried to get this mistake fixed through other means, but nobody has been able to help me. I am now forced to pay $25 to fix a problem I DID NOT CAUSE. This is an absolutely garbage institution. I will be using any other means I can to send packages from now on - the postal service cannot be trusted to send packages on time, to where they need to go, or to fix problems they themselves created.
I understand that sending packages around Christmas time can lead to misplaced packages. Although that is infuriating, I understand that is a risk I took sending a package during that time. The package was damaged and the vintage auto part broken. The resident contacted me about the problem. Third the Lula Ga. Post Office reads the receipt (Insured) so they decided NOT to contact me about the problem and the package / part is put “somewhere back in the back room” their words.
When I followed up to find out what was going on (no payment for the part) the Lula Ga. Post Office THEN informed me the package was damaged, the part was broken, it was somewhere back in the back room and they would send it back if they could find it. Oh and they would not cover the insurance on the package because the C.O.D. payment was not taken by the post office, the resident had signed for it and that was that. WHAT??? Now I’m out $150.00 for the part, $38.75 for delivery and insurance and stuck with a lump of coal costing me $188.75. Sooo if you plan on using the Wonderful USPS services this holiday season. Think Twice Before You Do. You will just get a lump of coal for your efforts.
!UPDATE! The Lula Ga. Post Office shipped the part back to me, good news right? Oh No It's Not! (again) The part is now broken in multiple places, severely damaged. As far as the Lula Ga. Post Office is concerned I got my part back and that’s that. This is just not right. I REPEAT. If you plan on using the Wonderful USPS services this holiday season or ANYTIME for ANY REASON. Think Twice Before You Do. They SCREWED me and they will SCREW you too. (I have photos of everything that happened, before and after.)

The estimated delivery date was ridiculous. The package was suppose to be delivered by 12/21, but it didn’t. Per tracking history it arrived at the distribution center on 12/21 on Oahu. I sent it from Kaneohe on 12/17. Which means it took 4 days to go across the island which is an hour away. It still needs to go to Oregon... next time UPS or FedEx.

The USPS somehow manages to get worse and worse as time goes by. Not a single one of many packages I have ordered lately has been on time, nor has the tracking been worth a damn. It might get scanned at one stop, not scanned at another, or never scanned, but it's never accurate. You can check tracking on ebay, then check the same tracking on USPS Informed Delivery, then check it again on USPS Tracking, and get three different tracking results. Why bother even having a tracking system that can't be monitored for employee adherence to the rules?
I sent a package from the middle of my state to right across the border to the next state, which should've taken two days maximum to deliver. It got to the large city closest to the recipient (maybe 30 miles from there), so I was confident it would be delivered shortly. Nope - they sent it to Alaska! Two days to Alaska, two days back, and another overnight before delivering it. Even something that is a direct route to my house takes so long I could strap it to a dog's back and get it here faster. The USPS is a joke anymore, and it didn't used to be that way, and by some twisted magic they find ways to continue to get worse.

Followed tracking of item I purchased that was supposed to be delivered on Monday. Tracking says there was not a secure place to leave the package. There was another smaller package left in large locker. Another package would have fit in that roomy and large locker. Carrier says he left a notice, he did not. Filled out online form to have package redelivered today. Nothing. So tired of not getting my regular mail, magazines and packages. Tired of fighting the mail carrier for my stuff.

On Monday, 11/25/19; I encountered Letter Carrier - Robin **. Ms. Watkins was substituting for my regular Business Carrier; Mr. **, while he was vacationing. I encountered Ms. ** at approximately 3:50 PM, after waiting for our mail to be delivered, and picked up; I went to our office on the lower level to discover Ms. ** had "thrown" the mail on the floor outside of the door of the suite. This suite does not receive mail. Had Ms. ** checked the address on ANY of the letters, she would have seen the correct suite number.
There was an urgency for the mail to be picked up, as the outgoing mail had been awaiting pickup since Friday, 11/22/19. I went from floor to floor, looking for Ms. ** to give her my outgoing mail and to also let Ms. ** know, which suite to deliver our mail to. I finally located Ms. ** mail wagon on the sixth floor of our building. I noticed the mail containers in the wagon were practically emptied; but contained no outgoing mail. When Ms. ** returned to her mail wagon, I explained our company doesn't receive mail on the 2nd floor, and that she had missed the 3rd floor entirely; as the mail I had since Friday had not been picked up by her.
My sincerest efforts were met with a bitter demeanor from Ms. **, and I felt uncomfortable leaving our employees personal shipments with Ms. **. As I turned to enter the elevator to go back to my suite, I asked for the carrier for her name. She simply gave me a "nasty stare". I asked her again, when I felt she would not provide me her name I step on the elevator, and that is when Ms. ** called me a "**". I got off the elevator, and asked her what she called me, again. She said nothing more, she just rolled her eyes and head.
I attempted for over a week to contact a station manager, to no avail. I finally spoke to Kim ** on Monday, 12/2/19. Upon describing the carrier to Ms. **; she stated she knew exactly who had covered Mr. ** route that day, and that this carrier has had numerous complaints. I would truly like to understand how such unprofessional behavior has gone unchecked for so long, if this is common behavior for this individual. I am hoping my complaint is viewed and FINALLY followed up by the post master of McLean, VA. This is not how you treat your customers.

I filed a complaint with the US Postal Service regarding the Post Office in Madison, NC with no results. The Madison, NC Post Office has absolutely NO regard for mail security. I'm a military veteran and recently moved to Madison. I was away for several days and was notified by the manager of my apartment complex that a torn VA Medical Center pharmaceutical package with my name was laying by her office door. My critical prescriptions were left in front of my apartment door, out in the open, where someone rifled through it apparently looking for opiate medication, which they never found. This package was small enough to fit in my lock box, but instead was left in front of my door where residents and their visitors frequently traffic the hallway.
I filed a complaint with the USPS corporate office and later spoke with the Madison, NC Postmaster regarding my complaint. The Postmaster, Tim, was defiant, arrogant and highly unprofessional regarding my complaint. He stated that his mail carrier did nothing wrong and further said that's how he instructs his carriers to deliver the packages. In fact, he made it look like I was the problem and refused to accept the responsibility for the incompetence of his letter carrier. This Postmaster has no regard for mail security and no respect for mail recipients. I have since escalated my complaint against this inept Postmaster with Consumer Affairs, as instructed by the US Postal Service ("passing the buck") since they refuse to directly address this serious matter.

First I only give 2 stars due to the fact that my packages over many years have never had an issue. The fun begins when you do have a destroyed USPS package and file insurance. Shipped Priority mail you automatically receive so called $50 insurance. The insurance process would get negative 5 stars if possible. Package arrives to addressee torn open on one end and contents missing in a USPS bag with a "We care" label. Contact USPS, no noted history of suspected damage, seems like this day and time it could be scanned and noted (possibly photographed) on tracking for later use with damage claim, nope! (Later confirmed by post office pictures showing package damaged sometime during shipping process in USPS possession.)
File claim online, get confirmation email, few days later get a letter from USPS stating that packaging has to be presented to local post office, purchase receipt, etc. and then it would be determined if claim was to be paid. First off said package is with addressee. Would have to pay to get back. Purchase receipt? Don't have one. Pretty much out of luck unless spend more money to have empty package shipped back, create a bogus receipt and then hope that claim is granted.
USPS should have a process in place to issue a call tag of sort and pick up the empty/damaged package they delivered at no extra cost to customer and if USPS has photographic evidence the package was damaged in their possession as was the case why would it be up to the customer to spend the time (deliver damage package to PO) and money for a claim that may or may not make it thru the process. Will not be asking addressee to ship back packaging and spending the time to deliver to post office to have them decide whether I'm worthy of a payment so I guess the USPS wins this round! BTW - Nowhere that I noticed in the claim filing process does USPS suggest the packaging will be needed.

I cannot believe the stupidity that is put up within this company. I paid for an item to be shipped to my house. The mail carrier hands me a slip that says sorry I missed you. I said, "You didn’t miss me. I’m right here." She said, "Oh I couldn’t get your package in my car so you will have to go pick it up from the post office." So already I have paid for something to be shipped through a company who’s vehicle is not able to carry what I paid them to deliver to my house so I drive 25 minutes to the post office for them to hand me a package that is the size of my hand. I paid to have this shipped to my home. They did not even try. The problem is in the management. If they would not allow these type of pathetic actions then it would not happen so often. Maybe get better management? Just a thought.

I contacted US Immigration office and was told since the carrier tracking page showed as if the mail was delivered to my address and I have to pay $580 and do a new application and waits for months to get a replacement card. USPS has to work hard to get the lost mail or USPS has to edit the trucking confirmation to show the actual address the mail was delivered or pay me $580.00 to cover for replacement card. Thank you. Have to laugh at the four stars review at the top of the page, not to mention the glowing endorsement from this ConsumerAffairs site. At least Americans have some kind of recourse, but if you're an International purchaser of something on eBay you not only get ripped off for a non-existent service (ie: Priority!) there's no mechanism for complaint because international callers cannot access the 800 numbers and the appropriate website requires a ZIP code to take the enquiry to the next page.
If 'Priority' means, dispatched on the first pigeon available, then ok, the service delivers on its promise. But note that the rest of the world is using modern aircraft now. And why a dispatched item goes from Arizona eastwards to Erlanger Kentucky on its way to Australia is completely beyond me. Except that you are more or less compelled to use the service with an eBay purchase, this service would be the LAST on earth you could recommend. Stop defending them ConsumerAffairs, they suck!

It arrived with the box crushed so hard that one side was torn open in the middle. It could only be deliberate as there is no way a box would be crushed in this way accidentally. Fortunately the seller had packed it so well, with so much bubble wrap and packing peanuts that through some miracle the item was still intact. But this is ridiculous and the USPS should be ashamed of the caliber of people they are hiring that would handle packages in this way.

They obviously no longer care about customer service. They lost your packages and don't do anything about it. Yes you can open a claim but no one really cares and then they will close your claim, without actually doing anything and mark it as resolved. Even when your package is still missing. Also it doesn't matter if your package is certified, priority, whatever, it's all the same. At this point I am not sure why they are still in business.

Check before you pay for priority service to a known street address. I addressed and paid twenty dollars to send a package to my son in Avon Colorado full address including unit number included. The USPS clerk gladly took the money. The package was returned because you need to send it to the post office general collection, as the Avon USPS no longer actually delivers any mail. No one informed me before it was shipped from DC to CO and back. When I inquired I was told if I sent it to the post office address he could have picked it up. I am an eBay seller who takes pride in shipping packages to my buyers with one day handling. When my buyer purchased a collectible vintage silk tie one evening I printed my pre-printed label from home and was at the USPS facility bright and early the next morning. I shipped First Class on 10/22/19 and the estimated delivery date was 10/25/19. It is now 10/30/19 and the buyer has filed a case through Ebay for nondelivery. The only tracking info available is that the package is en route to the next facility. My buyer needed the tie for an event and I am now going to have to issue a refund as well as lose my product...which was again, collectible/vintage.
When I called USPS to open a complaint case the CS Representative could give no information as to where the package was located and she stated that since I had not shipped Priority Express that that delivery was not guaranteed. She also stressed that the delivery date given is "estimated" not guaranteed, and yet would give no indication as to why the package was 5 days past the estimated delivery date. It is obvious to me that the package has been lost in transit since they are hedging my questions. So, in other words there is no accountability whatsoever from USPS. They can deliver your packages...or not...and there are no repercussions for them. I find this very troubling and as a small, very small, seller the loss of the sale and the unique item is inexcusable without a resolution from USPS.

I had the most awesome experience with USPS and this is why... I ordered something on eBay and in my haste to order I gave them the wrong shipping address to my office (I was off by one number). When I tried to contact the seller prior to the shipment, they didn't reply in a timely manner. I tried to intercept the package with USPS, but they were having technical difficulties so I called them. Yeah I waited a good 40 minutes to get someone on the phone and they told me I couldn't intercept the package only the shipper could and it would cost $14.00, so I kept pursuing a remedy.
Somewhere along my pursuit I was told to go to the distribution center once I know the package got there (I was getting text updates on my phone). When I got to what I thought was the distribution center, I was told the distribution center is off limits to the public and I was at a Post Office. There a woman gave me a consumer affairs number to call which was local. That person said it was possible that he could let staff know once the package got to my local post office to hold it for me for pickup because it would automatically go back to the sender when they see that the wrong address wasn't even a deliverable address. The representative gave me a confirmation number.
The next day I got a call from my local post office saying they haven't found my package, but they are aware of the situation and will let my carrier know. The next day I got another call that they found my package and my carrier will deliver it to me on Saturday, which was today. Luckily my husband was working at the office so he was able to accept it and I didn't have to wait until Tuesday (after Columbus Day). Honestly, you would have thought I was a V.I.P. with connections or had some really important item needing to get to me. They were so amazingly courteous, caring and professional over a simple package. Way to go USPS and the staff at the Miami Consumer Affairs Office as well as my North Miami Post office.
