My husband paid on our Titlemax account today. 04/07/2016. 2 hours later they called and said, "Your payment is due today." After he had just paid. This is the third time doing this. They need help that knows what they are doing. Rude people.
I got loan for $3,500, HUGE MISTAKE. I've made 3 payments of $500, my payoff is $3,650. If I make the min. payments for the remaining 9 months, I will have paid over $7,500. I WILL be paying this off next payment. They should not be allowed to take advantage of people!
It should really be against the law what this company does to people. I had a great car white Dodge Caliber that I work hard to get. Had to get a loan for dental. I paid every month for over 3 years at 250.00 a month... I still owe them the same amount after that much money that was given to them. I was 8 days late that last payment I paid. I work every day and need my car for that reason...
I hear a very very light knock on my door at 3:00 am in the morning... Well it was so light I didn't hear it, my dog did and woke me up barking like crazy. I went to the door and looked out the window. These guys were running down the stairs, got in my car and took off in it... That's how this computer gets your car. Steals it in the middle of the night. I had many things in my car which I had brand new boots in there. When I went to pick up my stuff these boot were not in there anymore. The lady took me if it wasn't on the list that the guys there self-wrote up they were not in my car... So this means TitleMax uses a company that can take whatever they want and just say it wasn't in there.
Called TitleMax and told them, they said "too bad, should have taken out of your car." I paid this company over 5000 thousand dollar and they still took my car in the middle of the night. I never saw my car again. Something should be done with a company that cheats people like this!! How sad the law does nothing about it... But Karma is a ** and each and every one of them will have their time!! The BIG tall ** manager at the Columbus GA office on Macon Rd is a horrible person, but she will pays her dues for being a low down rotten person!!
Like many others here I made the mistake of taking out a title loan from TitleMax. I had lost my job and was going through the grievance process, but needed extra funds to hold me over. I borrowed $3200 not realizing what I was getting myself into. The first 4 months I paid $500, which was about $100 over what my interest was. I was attempting to pay down the principal. I expected to pay it off with my income tax, but unfortunately due to that retarded 1095 A healthcare form my income tax go held up. So for the last 5 months I have been just paying $400 a month. So with the payment I'll be making today on my way home for work I will have paid a total of $4,400 on a $3200 loan, yet I still owe $3400 to get my title back!!! That's a total of $7,800 for a $3200 loan and that's only so far.
I have made the decision that I am going to borrow the $3400 from my credit union and pay it off. That way the payments I make on my loan will actually be towards paying it off and I don't have to worry about my car being repo'd if I fall a little behind. I wouldn't recommend anyone get a title loan over a couple hundred bucks, unless you absolutely have no other choice.

The only thing I can really say about TitleMax is that you have to read the fine print because the monthly fees will kill you if you only pay the minimum. I had a pretty decent experience with these folks at the Houston office. They did not call me to harass me or visit me. They simply told me that if I was late by even one day that they would repossess a vehicle. There was zero grace on this. Also comma they do not have normal hours. I have to work on the other side of town but I have to wait for them to open at 9 o'clock so I can pay my title loan. They do not accept credit cards only cash and I am responsible for going to the courthouse to have them removed from my title when this is done.
The amount of money that I had to pay to clear up the title loan is ridiculous. Do not do this no matter what the emergency is. You will regret it. Take a second mortgage, sell the junk out of your garage or sell your blood, but do not get a title loan on your vehicle. I only give them 2 stars because they have not called to harass me and I even like the manager personally but besides this their company policies are horrible.
I took an $800.00 loan with these guys in 2012. I paid the loan off early. When I paid it off I was told the lien would be released that it could take up to 30 days. Here we are 3 years later and the lien is still on the car. I forgot about the vehicle lien until now, I need to get rid of the vehicle because it is dead. The only thing I can say is I am partially responsible for not staying on these guys but I say to anyone taking a loan out with them make sure and be diligent about getting the lien released.
I took out a loan with TitleMax in Augusta, thought I was helping them build their business. Met the guy name Robert through a family member who claim he worked there. He said the $ would go back towards your title and was given half of the loan now. Come to find out it was a lie and they finally took my car. I know it was an inside job. Now they won't give me my items out the car.
Due to an extreme unforeseen event, my husband and I had to use this company for a title loan. We have subpar credit and we were unable to acquire a loan from a bank. Unfortunately, we were unaware of the way title loans worked. On a loan of $1000, we pay $156 per month interest only. I have to admit, I was aware that the monthly payments were only interest and that any extra would be applied to the principal. Well, we ended up both losing our jobs days apart. My husband was able to secure another job just days later, but it had caused us to fall 3 weeks behind on our payment. We kept in touch with the company and mailed our payment priority mail and called to give them the tracking number.
FOUR days later, 2 days after receiving the payment, our truck was repossessed. We were confused because we called the number on the tracking slip and they confirmed that the payment was definitely received by TitleMax, yet they still went ahead with the repo. The next day, we called TitleMax and the man we spoke to said that never should have happened and that he would call us back. The whole time we were dealing with them, the tow company was impossible to deal with. Finally, after many phone calls, the tow company called and told us there was a miscommunication and that they would return our truck when they had the chance. They refused to tell us their location so we could not pick it up ourselves. The truck has equipment on it that was used for my husband's job, so we ended up losing work/jobs because of this inconvenience caused by their "miscommunication".
Months later, we were 6 days late with our payment. Again, we kept in touch with TitleMax and let them know we would make our payment on a Saturday. We made the payment and again called them with the tracking number of the priority mail package. 3 days later, after they received the payment, again our truck was repossessed! I just don't understand why they keep repossessing the truck AFTER they receive the payment. Again, I can also track the mailed payment, and know that they have signed for and received the payment, yet they go ahead and put out the order to repo after they receive the payment! So, I end up having to not only pay the crazy high interest payments, but also the towing and storage fees, as well as time lost at work! How is this legal?
Noe ** (Thomas Road, Phoenix, Arizona branch) was our account manager. In my experience, he is nothing short of unethical with his aggressive, borderline threatening collection tactics. On one occasion, Mr. ** insisted he take my husband's debit card from him to take back to the store (without my husband present). On what planet is that reasonable? On another attempt, it is my belief that my sliding glass (front door) was damaged due to Mr. **'s aggressive knocking.
My door already had a small fracture in it caused by our monsoon season and in my opinion was further broken due to the vibration of Mr. **'s pounding. When I answered the door, I offered to make a partial payment in which I was denied. Mr. ** made no effort to cooperate in resolving the issue (which was to collect a debt I was attempting to pay). I concluded his visit was nothing more than a counterproductive scare tactic that resulted in damage to my home. Since Mr. **'s last visit, our account fortunately has been settled.
I've made numerous, unsuccessful attempts to contact corporate headquarters. The only managerial contact I've had is with a district manager who is both untruthful and unprofessional. With the outrageous interest rates, terms and conditions, this company should be ashamed of itself for not resolving the issue of property damage that they are responsible for. Title Max and similar companies continue to take advantage of the disadvantaged. This type of business only exists in low-income communities and happily perpetuates the cycle of poverty. They should be exposed for what they really are: Low Class Loan Sharks.
I have never dealt with people like this, calls every day. I guess they think you have nothing else on your mind but when you should make your payment. I would not deal with this company ever again and I would not have any of my friends go there. I would imagine the people that own this company trained their employees so they are the same way. I have nothing at all to say good about Title Max in Springfield Illinois.
A representative called to ask when I was coming in to make a payment, I told him by Friday. It was Tuesday already. Wednesday morning on my way to work my car was gone. They repo my car. As I begin to read the review they repo your car before the day you say you are coming in. The manager was nasty. In order for me to get my car a $700 loan went to a $1500 including tow fees for missing a payment. Now I have 21 days to get my car back or it will be sold. Please do something about this company.
My name is Melissa ** and I am a single mother of three children, one of which is disabled. Over the course of this past year I was diagnosed with Type 2 Bipolar Disorder, with hypomanic episodes, currently depressed along with osteoarthritis of the hip and lower back. With these two combined I have become disabled, so I currently live off a very tight budget. With that said I needed to take a loan out and I was backed into a corner with taking out a title loan. I have become late and was sent out a Right to Cure letter. The letter had a payment deadline of December 8, 2015. On December 1, 2015 I sent the payment requested in the letter via Western Union. It has been a very crazy 2 weeks here in our household and didn't even think about calling to make sure they got the payment. I used my account number on the Western Union website and made my payment.
On December 12, 2015, I went to leave for the store to find my car gone. Before calling the police I called the loan company, TitleMax of Columbia Missouri. They informed me that they needed to research my claim about my payment and stated that I needed to call them because they didn't know I sent a payment in. I've used Western Union Bill Pay for a long time and have NEVER encountered an issue like this. The company's website states that they conveniently accept Western Union payments and nothing stating to call after I paid. They researched the issue and noted that I paid on the 1st. They also told me because I didn't call them they are keeping my car as a repossession. This car is our family's livelihood, on top of taking myself to the doctors frequently I also need to transport my disabled son and my other three children to doctor's appointments.
I don't have immediate family here in Missouri and am very much alone with just my kids. I am disappointed that a company this size doesn't have their payment options more organized. There is only ONE corporate office in this company and someone had to set up the Western Union account meaning that someone must also receive notification when moneys are received. Everyone does, for one thing or another. I believe that my rights under the Missouri Statue 408.555.1 were violated. I paid the outstanding amount stated on the Right to Cure letter before the date given and they still repossessed my car. When TitleMax was aware a payment had already been made to their company, my car should have been RETURNED.
It's 2 weeks before Christmas with addition, I have to transport my disabled son to Denver to meet up with his active military father, who only sees his son 3 times a year. I have NO idea how I am going to get to the airport now and have no way to purchase groceries or pick up medications at this point. TitleMax has left our family in a very horrible situation as well as broken the law. I need someone to help me fight this company since they feel they are above the law.
I went to Title Max for a 3 000 loan in my car title. Big mistake! Now they want 5 000 plus the 3 000 they borrow me, paying them total 8 000. I hope somebody stop them taking advantage of people!
I took a title loan out a year ago on my truck, did not know what I was getting into but needed the cash. Well, in a year I have not been late but twice and this last time was November 2015. I called and talked to the people in the store as well as the manager explaining my situation. Told them I would be in on the 10th to make my payment, was told by the manager everything was fine. Well, Friday morning at 1:30 am they took my truck. When I called the manager on Friday he explained he had no idea what was happening, said he would call back. Did not call back. I had to call him three times and still had no answers.
Finally at 2 he told me I needed 680 to get my ONLY vehicle back. I explained if I had 680 I would have made my payment, and was told my car would be auctioned off in a week. He knew I was in a bind, just took in three young siblings because my sister had died. They don't care!!! I hope someone from their district office will call me and help! If I wanted to skip out on my payment I would not have called and talked with them. PLEASE HELP!!!
Title Max is a huge ripoff. I knew I would pay higher rates but had no idea how bad they would be and how uncooperative they are. I paid off one loan 3x the amount I borrowed with no late. Then when I got the next loan, my payroll dates changed. I tried to explain to them I needed to change the dates but they will NOT work with you because they WANT to take your vehicle. They made a mistake on my billing and then blamed me, charged me extra. And then when I need them to call me to discuss my changes, they won't call me back. Won't send a receipt when I had to drop off money and run. They call you twice a day, one day after your due date. These guys are thieves and should not be trusted.
These people call and call the day before your payment is due then they start calling first thing on due date. Then they come to our house and remind payment is due... on the due date which is as ignorant as they come!!!
They claim we are fifty nine days behind when in fact we have been paying every month for over a year. We just made two payments this month and two last month. But in the middle of the night my father in law discovers the car missing from his driveway. The managers will not tell us what we need to pay to get car back, they reported it ILLEGALLY. They will not allow us to get our belongings back from the car including medication. They are liars, thieves and cheats. SHUT THEM DOWN.
I didn't know much about Title Max title loans but I will say they lie to you, they cheat you out of your money. Their interest rate is like 2 times the monthly amount. We needed at small loan to go to a Daughter's wedding so we got a loan for $2500. Will that's the biggest mistake of my life was to walk into their doors. 6 months later after paying them $346.00 a month I still owed $2400.00 dollars. So that means I paid them $2076.00 in interest on a $2400.00 loan the other was for Fees. Fees? $100.00 comes off the loan. The government needs to step in and close them down.
The store manager Crystal ** was extremely rude and insulting. I had a truck loan with Title Max in Arnold. I moved so called store and asked if I could make my payment at another location in another state. Crystal said yes I just need account number on check. I sent 10 checks at $536 EACH TOTAL OF $5360 WHICH PAID LOAN IN FULL. I transferred back to Arnold and 3 months later they take my truck for nonpayment. The little young kbueve dark headed girl had no identification that she's a title max employ and 2 tow truck drivers look like they live in Deliverance and had no ID. I wasn't letting them take my truck. I got in and locked the door, had a friend take a picture and record whole thing for local news. What a joke business... with the kids as if money they're making should pay me attorney fees. **.
I took out a loan from Title Max on Torrence Av Calumet City, for my 2006 Chevy Cobalt, for $750 in April 2011. In July of 2011, just three months later, the payoff was over $1600. My receipt is not in hand, but if necessary, I will supply it. Loan sharks.
My son is in some legal issues with the court and his car is under Police Sanctions. There was a notice on the dash that read Do not Tow. But that did not stop the tow driver. He said to call Title Max not his problem. I thought that you also had to have Repo papers for a car that you were repossessing. NO PAPERS WERE GIVEN TO ME! Hopefully Title Max DOES NOT damage the Police Property on the Car.
Title Max in Arnold all of them for that matter should be shut down. They lie. Interest in these loans is outrageous and you do not get your title back. That's the whole point they get bonus for every repo. They make sure you can't do it. Do not use these places. Worst experience of my life.
I paid off my title loan on my truck a few months ago and got my title back. Three weeks ago we got a call from a collection company saying that Title Max is saying that we owe almost 500 dollars more. Also they have started a repo on the truck. They have came by to get the truck but it was not home at the time. I have gotten a title loan on the truck with another company. Yesterday we were told by the collection company that Title Max has started a lien on my truck and is in the process of buying my title from the other company. How can they do this? We called Title Max and they wouldn't talk to us, saying it is a legal matter. I believe someone from the local office made a mistake and wants me to pay for it.
When I first took out my loan with TitleMax the payments were scheduled in the 3rd week of each month. I informed their employee that I was glad this was the case because I got paid twice a month instead of weekly and my 1st check covered my rent and electric bill and my 2nd check can cover the loan payment. It wasn't long before I received a letter informing me that my payment schedule had been changed and I was now required to make my payments on the 15th instead of the 23rd of each month.
I asked why they felt it was necessary to do this and could I please have my payments scheduled some time in the last 2 weeks of the month and they said no, I'd have to pay when they tell me to pay and apparently they don't have to tell me why, but I know why: They knew the new date fell within the range of my first check and I would have to pay the rent and electric bill first and they hoped I would have a hard time paying them and they figured I'd always be a week late making payments out of my 2nd check. They would take my money and probably not complain too much about the lateness, but eventually, after I had paid a substantial amount of cash, they would increase the pressure, and when it suited them, like the thieves in the night so many on here have claimed them to be, they would sneak up to my house and drive off with my car and rob me of more cash when they auction it off.
To avoid this scenario I made 2 payments on the 23rd and continued to pay them on the 23rd of each month and made a point of doing the transaction with the particular employee that I had words with over why my payment date had been changed. It was my way of saying f. u. to him. I think they made 1 more feeble attempt to trip me up when they pushed my payment date up again from the 15th to the 8th when I had just 4-3 more payments to go and I have no doubt that if I were just 1 day late on a payment they would be at my door with bells on their toes come to steal my car out from under me, but it ain't happenin'... By then it didn't matter when I paid them, I had switched jobs months ago and was paid weekly (and more money, too) and only paid them on the 23rd for my own satisfaction. I got my title back from them today and I will never, ever do business with them again.
They are a predators that prey on people desperate for money and have no problem robbing them of their hard-earned cash by charging outrageous interest on the money they loan and right before the loan is almost paid off they want the person to give them any reason at all so they can rob them of their car, too, the one thing they need the most to go to work and earn money just to live. I read a couple of letters on here saying people knew what they were getting into when they sign the contract but people tend to do what they have to do at the time and hope for the best and these companies know that. The people who come to them will be late on payments, may end up in the hospital, might lose their job or endure any number of misfortunes that can cause even worse hardship than what they were facing when they walked into the car title loan office and what is despicable about this business is they count on this.
A person who has lousy credit or not working or is hard up should be able to take a loan out on their car but the businesses who deal with these people need to be regulated and not able to so blatantly rip people off like they do. I would rather live in a tent as to work for a company like that. They encourage their employees to be rude and cold hearted in their dealings with customers. Working for a place like that would surely mess your karma up. They shouldn't be allowed to charge such outrageous interest, to be able to so easily repo a person's car and to arbitrarily change the rules and make up rules as they go along. They can still make a lot money off of loaning money to people with car titles without being the highway robbers that they are.
They're really friendly so you trust them. They lied to me. Mislead me. I went in there to finish paying it off and none of my payments counted. They told me all I had to pay back is 728 so I paid 100 bucks every month. What they forgot to mention is the loan is only for 30 days and I was only paying to keep it open, and I would come in early to pay it sometimes and they would talk me out of it and say it wasn't a good idea because my date would change. They were only saying that so I would catch on that I wasn't really paying on my loan.
Now I don't know what to do cause they told me one thing and it wasn't true. They read you the contracts. They never let me see them. They explained it totally wrong. They never once told me what was going on till I asked how much I had left because I want to pay it off. I can't believe this place is open. They lied to me and stole my money. I have to pay on it or it ruins my credit and I gotta pay the tow company and lose my car. I feel so low right now. I just wanna cry.
Got 1 month behind my payroll - check delayed, having car issues, spent money obviously on car so could work. Guess they thought it was in top shape should come repo it. On 2nd payment called, advised would be in on Thursday, not one word except ok. Repo car on Wednesday. Never ever will I go here or do a car loan again. Never notified me to come get contents in car. Repo man wouldn't tell me where it would be.
I needed $1500.00 for my rent. When I went to Title Max in VA they told me they would have to look at the vehicle. They then ended up drawing up a contract. As the lady went over the contract (Brittney) she explained to me that if I was going to be late with my payments to call them so that they could stop the interest from accruing and that once I finished paying the 1500.00 back then my loan would be paid back and I would be able to get my title back. Long story short I paid 255.00 monthly until the loan was paid off and I called to get my title back and Brittney tells me that I still owe 1500.00 and that they have a right to come get my car. Whose car? I think not! I still have my car and trying to get in contact with consumer affairs with this matter. All Title Max's need to be shut down. Damn shame.
I borrowed 600.00 on my title, it was two years ago. I'm paying 3,000.00 bk on a 600 loan! These are the worse loan anybody can go through! Don't go to Title Max in Troy Missouri or any Title Max for that goes.
The mngr simply explained what your "payment" will be.. Not going into detail explaining that was ONLY the interest. I found out after my 4th payment, I paid $9000 for my$4000 loan. Had I known that after 2 visit before I signed away, I would NOT have gotten it.
I was a customer for a year and a half. I was in need of Christmas money when I got the loan. They don't tell you you need to pay more than what you are supposed to bring in every month. I thought I was almost finished until I started asking questions and then I found out that I was only paying interest rates every month. You can imagine the look on my face. So long story short to keep from paying twice the amount I already paid, I gave up my truck. Title Max is a ripoff. I wouldn't recommend anyone to use them. They misuse people with financial hardships and take advantage of them.
Got a loan on my car about a year and half ago. Have been paying 230.00 for the whole time. I have already paid in 6000.00 dollars on a 4800 dollar loan. Lost my job after 16 years at the same place. I got 15,000.00 for my time at the company and left there and went to a new job that Mon. Yes I had the money to pay it off but they wanted 5000 more. So with the 6000 I had paid and plus 5000 they wanted, that would be 11000.00 dollars on a 4800 hundred loan... this really should be against the law... I missed that last payment and talk to them about 6000 dollars I'm paying them over what I owe them.
Ok now you could be a decent company, knock on that person's door and say, "We are taking the car you have work so hard for." But instead they come in the middle of the night and tap on your door at 1:30 am and hope you don't hear the tag just so they can say they knocked. Well I have a dog and she heard it and started barking and they run down the stairs and jump in your car and take off. I also had a lot of my mail in that card and a box of work stuff and they stole it all. Now I'm sure they have gone through my mail, that should be a crime in itself.
Please, please don't go to this company - they take your car in the middle of the night and could care less. If you need money, don't go to a title pawn, go to a title credit loan. Everything you pay comes off of what you owe, where a title pawn you can keep taking your money forever... If they were a straight-up company, they would knock on your door during the day, not in the middle of the night. The title credit also uses your car but you pay them back every time you make a payment. This is the car they took after paying 6000 pay-in on a 4800 loan.
I had to get a title loan, I went to Title Max not knowing anything about a title loan. They were extremely nice when I went in. After I got the loan, I was on time for a few months, then one day I went in to pay and I was $6 dollars short. They said they don't take payments unless it's the correct amount or more. I explained that the bank was closed and the ATM wouldn't go over the daily limit. I was told they couldn't accept my payment because it was $6 short and that I could come back tomorrow with the correct amount or more but it would be $11 dollars more, which I did. A few months later, I was 6 days late and they took my vehicle!
I got a loan with TITLE MAX without researching the company. What I find out, they actually not only harass you by calling you if you behind payments, they come to your home daily and before 30 days is up, take your car. SCUMBAGS.
We had a title loan with these scum of the earth people. Mainly Diana. We made arrangements with Motormax to buy our title. They called and talked to her and she got so butt hurt she passed the phone off to one of her employees and made arrangements to pay them off on Tuesday or Wednesday. They showed up Wednesday at about 2pm on our way to finish up paperwork to have it changed over and denied the conversation with the Motormax person or even talking to my wife. They straight up lied. Even Motormax was appalled at their blatant lies and took our car. She told us to go somewhere else and get our car back and I told her she knew that wasn't possible without the car and then she hung up on me. There is a hotspot in hell for her.
Title Max in Petersburg, Va charge entirely too much on late fees and to get your car repo. I get a loan for 600 but now they say I owe 1195.00. Where did this fee come from. They said it was 30 dollars a day for being late. Thought Title Max was on under investigation for overcharging customers. They should be investigating the one in Petersburg, Va.
I got a title loan from Title Max back in 2013 when I needed a large sum of cash quickly for an emergency. WORST DECISION EVER! At the time, my husband was bringing home a good salary and I never had an issue with making my payments. A little over a year in, my husband lost his job and I wasn't working because I was taking care of my dying mother. I was able to keep making monthly payments, sometimes a little behind, using my husband's unemployment and money I would get from odd jobs. I asked Title Max about what I could do and their solution was to "reset" my account for the amount of my payment, which began my term all over again, not to mention that it also increased my payment while I was going through a hardship. Now, I am working again and I am still struggling to make my payments.
Over the time I have been doing business with them, I have spent a whopping $9000! The loan amount is 5000. I am still making my monthly payments, which are half of my monthly income. Other bills are suffering because I don't want to lose my car and I have TRIED working with them to no avail. It's pay on time or lose your car. I am seriously considering going to a "buy here, pay here" car place so I can buy a cheap car and turn mine in because it's just not worth it anymore. I have literally paid for my car twice. They have no way of helping customers who are going through a hardship, no matter how good of a customer you are or how much money the company has made off of you. I deeply regret the decision of going with Title Max. If you're reading this and considering using this company, please don't make the same mistake as I, and many others, have.

I've had a loan for about a year now. I have NEVER been late & have always made payments weekly more than what I owe. They don't try to help you out when you need it. GM Armida and DM are so rude. I don't recommend anyone gets a loan here. I am switching.
Every time I called I speak to Karla a very stupid rude **. I told her I wasn't able to give my payments anymore on I had to give up my car. I handed it to her a month and the ** is still calling my home w/ references talking **. I'm fed up with this ** people. Karla and Ray suck on take. This place the worst. Their number exactly is 5668665. To be exact and Ray said there was no one else above him. "I'm that." He was the main one. Ha ha jerk. Don't ever go to this office. Customer service sucks especially Karla the **...
My husband spoke with a person at Title Max in Joplin, MO YESTERDAY and let them know we would pay our account on Wednesday. The worker told him that would be fine. I went out to go to work this morning, and my car was gone. They're liars. Don't believe anything they say!
Took out a loan with title max in Palatine, Illinois. Ended up moving to Texas. Having difficulties paying this mafia-type loan. Got repeat calls multiple times daily. Woke up this morning to go to work and my car is gone. They waited for the apartment complex to get quiet and everyone to go inside to bed. Then they came and took the car. Consequently we could not go to work and now have to find another loan to get the car out of wherever it is. Thieves in the night. How can you out work toward paying them if you can't go to work?? Bad company! Horrible business practices! If I could give them zero stars I would!
I'm complaining about Title Max 'cause they change manager so many times and they repo my car for one payment, and the month wasn't out yet. They didn't give me notice that they was taking my car. I thought you had to be 3 mos. behind, but that not my case. I owed for July and it's not out yet. Plus the manager there is so nasty and act like he discriminated when you can't pay on time, he don't want to work with you. Plus my balance has been the same for the last 4 mos., like they putting the money in their pocket. I would like to know why would they do that. This is the Title Max in Lexington. Please help me understand. I'm on disability and they know I be in and out of the hospital. I hope you look over my complaint and give me an answer to my concerns. Thank you.
Criminal activity takes place at TitleMax, 1911 Opitz Blvd., Woodbridge, VA. A customer service rep named ** laundries counterfeit $100 bills at this location!! After making a payment, ** later calls to inform you that after marking the money with a pen it revealed the money is not real. He then asks that you immediately replace the money to prevent legal prosecution. ** keeps the not real money and returns to you counterfeit money. I know this to be a fact because he scammed me out of $100 on Monday, 27 July 2015, when I paid off my daughter's loan using the tactic mentioned above. Complaining to the manager (a Middle Eastern man) resulted in a response of "okay..." Apparently, in acceptance of the wrong doing. In any case, ** and TitleMax are under investigation by the Secret Service who handles fraud cases involving counterfeit money. If you have been scammed by this man, please report the incident to Prince William County Police.
Bought a car from a young lady that had a TM loan. They repossessed the car and won't give me my belongings out of the car. They can have the car. Just give me my daughter college items out of it! Pure stupidity!!!
I had 2 loans with them that were paid on time and in full. They kept calling and said I owed for interest. I asked how could I owe more if I paid the amount on my contract. They kept calling 4 times a day. I called them back, they were rude and kept hanging up the phone. So 2 am this morning they took my cars for repo, no papers were shown and to no reason why they took them. It's wrong and against my contract for them to repo on something that was paid. My next payment is on the 27 it's only the 24... They are crooks in my eyes. I have a child with major health problems and I suffer from PTSD and to send someone to my house at 2 am and bang on my door to take my cars that were current in their payment because I can't answer their harassing phone calls cause I'm at work. This company need to get back my cars to me and train their employees on how to handle them selfs in a better manner.

I initially took out a $5000 loan because at that time they said 5 grand was the max they lend. I made my first payment of interest only $524. Well, the manager said "hey we upped outlining to ten thousand and we can loan you $5000 more".. Well that falling upon ears drowning in debt was music.. But I said "it will be hard but I can make it happen" and I was locked into a payment of interest that exceeds $1100 a month in interest. Then the worst thing happened. I was moving and my neighbor son invited me over and we became an item. And one night I slept at his house and he robbed me taking the payment... He beat me up when I tried to get it back. And went to jail for assault.. Being his dad lives by me.. I left my apt early and lost a lot of stuff. I was scared.
Title Max calls asking for current info. I said "my car is my home right now". Told them about my attack... They didn't Care. The same sweet people who threw ten grand at me turned into uncaring, unfeeling jerks who said they meant to collect my car... I said "I can't pay that much now due to circumstances", and she said "well then you violate the contract and there is nothing we can do." So when and if they find me and my car they will take it and not bat an eye for my family... I can just hide I suppose... I need the car to do my business. Can anything be done to call these blood suckers off, or lower my payments. I know it's a contract but don't extenuating circumstances cause contracts to be changed.... I wish he wouldn't have said "we can give you five grand more now".... I could have been ok with the first loan although high dollar.. And even after saying "they don't care and won't help" they continue to call me twice a day.
I took out a loan of $2000 and the sales guy showed me on my contract where it says, "Total of Payments - The amount you will have paid after you have made all payments as scheduled. $2,259.80". He did not however explain that the $259.80 was renewed every month. So basically 1st month minimum payment is $259.80, 2nd minimum payment is $250.80, 3rd minimum payment is $359.80, and 4th minimum payment is $346.81 which totals $1,226.21 in payments. The ONLY amount I have actually paid towards my loan is $187.01. I have paid $1,039.20 in interest rate and fees. WHAT A RIP OFF!!! THIS GOES ON FOR 22 MONTHS!!!! So If my calculations are correct, at the end of 22 months I will have paid $5,715.60 in fees and interest plus the $2,000.00 I was loaned - for a grand total of $7,715.60. I cannot believe this is legal! Is this really the American way? This is disgusting! This company ought to be ashamed.
159% interest rate. Well, I walked in and walked out. So if I would of took out a loan for 2,000$ and pay the 270 a month because it's based on a 2-yr period, that's over 2,000. That is insane. She tell me I could get the max for my car which is 4000 and the more you borrow the less interest you pay. I'm in need of money but I'll wait this ** out. I say to her, "People actually do this," and she says, "Well, we been in business for a long time, so yes." ** is nuts. Well DON'T DEAL WITH THEM.
I've been dealing with TitleMax for years. Their interest rate is high but I went along with them anyway. I'm in a domestic dispute and I can't afford to pay. I explained my situation & I told them I will let them know when I can make a payment. I still get phone calls twice a day (my phone record will prove it) & on 7/8/15, I get a phone call again. Not only from their business phone but from their personal phone as well. She only gave me her first name which is **. Then I called back & explained my situation to **. She transferred me to another person. I explained to him I wanted their last name & I couldn't get it. They would not even give me the address but this is the last known address 341 Cobb Pkwy Marietta, GA 30062.
So I wrote a review on this company some weeks ago. It was not a very good review. But I tell you if you call the 1-800 number and tell them your circumstance they will have the district get in touch with you. I finally made my phone call on 8/1 and on 8/3 at roughly 11:30 am or so. The district called me back and reheard my claim and said that he would do some research and I could call him back when I get off work.
I did and well to say the least I am more than happy of the way he cared about me and said, the last thing he wanted was to take my car or see me and my family lose our home and he settled the loan at more than a fair amount and has agreed that I can make payments on this loan - with NO more interest and taking more than half the amount away. I suggest to anyone reading this please call the 1-800 number. Let the district manager call you back and tell him or her your story and if they are anything like the man I spoke too, they will have a heart and help you.
My husband and I fell onto hard times and like almost every middle-class person don't qualify for a loan that won't break us. But anyway we had NO idea what kind of loan we were entering. They don't go over the fine details. HONESTLY they put all the papers in a pile and say "Sign" and are so nice and smile in your face and well here we are taking nearly half our income monthly to pay on loans that are just interest. I actually thought about a hour ago if I give my entire paycheck monthly which is 1000 a month that still won't even pay our 3000 loan off ANYTIME soon.
I just don't know what to do. I am at a loss and wish that I had never, EVER became so desperate. Now here we are in even worse shape than we were in the day we came to them and with the big stack of papers you sign that they don't go over with you. There is nothing you can do. I am thinking that it would be better to crawl in a hole and die than to pay this loan because we are getting nowhere FAST and every month my husband and I who NEVER fight always put blame of this loan on one another and it's not fair to my kids or our marriage. Please for the love of GOD if you are even considering this type of loan RETHINK your options and think -- Is it really worth half of your income EVERY month and it's not even touching your loan payment, just interests? I wish there was something that we could do...ANYTHING. I just don't know how much more we can take.
Ok I took out a car title loan. Was paying on it but wasn't getting anywhere. They never called my phone, never sent anything in the mail stating I was late and the amount due. I called them. They couldn't find my papers. Then all of a sudden they come like a thief in the night and take my car. I am so hurt and heart broken. A single parent of 3 kids and in poverty. This hurts. No communication with this company whatsoever. I wish they would go out of business.
Do not EVER get a title loan with Title Max! They are crooks! They don't tell you when you sign up for the loan that you will only be paying off interest. They wait until after you receive the loan and start making payments to let you know that if you want to pay on the loan, you have to pay more than the minimum payment. Also, when I got my loan, I was not planning on being late. But, everyone knows that unexpected things happen. I ended up with terrible headaches from a condition that causes my body to produce excess cerebrospinal fluid. So, I take the meds for that and end up with kidney stones! I make sure that I stay in contact with Title Max because I want them to know that I am sick and unable to work. But I don't want to lose my truck. I was unable to work or do anything for over a month because the doctors kept me drugged up until my procedure... and even after that, I was in pain and unable to work for another month.
Then, the headaches came back! I made two payments while I was sick (late, but I explained what was going on). The next payment was late and they would not take anything less than minimum. Even though I was only a few dollars short. They repoed my truck less than 30 days after payment was due. They emptied out all of my belongings before making sure if I was going to get it back. And they broke in because they did not have a key. I just got the truck back last night and I am almost afraid to check for damages because I'm sure there are going to be some, knowing that they broke in. I'm just trying to figure out how they got my alarm to go off without a key??? Going to check for damages now... Don't EVER get a title loan with these people. I have done a title loan before with another company and never had to go through this.
Please regardless of your situation don't go to Title Max. It will stick with you forever. I had gotten a loan for 800 and I was unable to make payments because my car broke down and costed 2600 to fix so I completely forgot about Title Max because so much was going on and is going on but them jokers don't care. So I had the car towed away because I wasn't gonna pay for my car to sit everyday. So Title Max calling threatening me and my family. Harassing me. Sending investigators to my mother's house saying that I did fraud and theft by receiving. Which I don't understand.
Life happens and I'm unemployed and my father's been dealing with cancer so it's a lot on my plate. Title Max should be shut down. Life happens and sometimes people can't pay what they want or those high interest rates. Title Max will never get any of my friends or family business. I never should have went to them from jump. Now I have to deal with more stress. I'm practically homeless and taking care of my father. As if I really needed more stress.
I was 16 days late on title loan and told them I'll be in on Thursday. They said ok and picked my car up on father's day. Now I have to pay the whole 1400 back in 2 weeks or lose my truck.
They report me when I told them on Saturday I will be in on Monday and they repo my car on Father's Day - this one location on Buffalo and smoke ranch. The guy ** was a total jerk. I was only 400 behind on my car. He will call 5 times a day every phone that was on my contact. Never sent me a letter out, just brought one to my house for me to call and I did that and told him when I was coming in. I've been having issues with him from day one.
I was in the office in the Plainfield area and was assured that I would be able to get credit by Title Max to my credit. I have found out that it was not accurate. Title Max does not record payments to increase your credit. Which made the 155% credit hike unworthy as it was ridiculous. My car was not appreciated to a good value. Thank goodness since it would be much more difficult to get out of their grasp.
Hey, my name is ** and I had a title pawn with Title Max for 4 years at 380.00 a month. Yes, it's hard to get a loan when you're poor but that doesn't mean you need to be rip off. I have a great news for people who have been with this company for a while and want their title back -- Demand or get a lawyer. I did and they let me out of my title. If they tell you some bs don't believe. I have proof. If anyone is interested and hearing my story please email me at **.
I went to the Virginia Title Max. Just 60 days late on a payment and they repo my car. Will I have to pay the whole thing or just what I owe you? Please help me. The loan was $1,000. I pay the first month on time. This is my only transportation.
I know that for many this is too late but knowing a little about how they work, I wanted to take a couple of minutes to address most of the issues posted here. Let me start by stating that I do not work for Title Max in any way. This is also no way in defense for them. It's to help those looking for answers or considering a loan. Laws governing title loans also varies from state to state so what I'm going by is based in SC. The first thing people are concerned about is the interest rate is extremely high. Sometimes you have no other options and need the money. It's considered a high risk loan due to the amount of people who have no intentions of repaying the loan from the beginning. Many people buy cars for $300-$400, receive a loan for $600-$700 and consider it sold. They made $300-$400 why pay that back. This happens more than you think but is a case where some ruin it for the many.
How the interest works is not explained well at loan but it's because many associates don't fully understand it. Interest is a set annual % rate that you receive interest breaks at higher amounts. So the more money you take, the less your interest. They break down the interest to a per day amount. For example, (these are made up numbers and not a reflection of the company's) if you take $2000 at 150% APR, it would break down to $4.11 per day. You are given a set monthly payment of $150. This allows you to only pay for the loan as long as you have it versus a traditional bank loan that the interest is paid up front.
In our example, on your 1st payment, you would have $123.30 in interest and your loan now equals $2123.30. That means of the $150 set payment, only $26.70 goes towards principal. If you pay 30 days to the day you took out your loan. If you are 10 days late, that means $164.40 is due in interest. If you still only pay $150, you will have $14.40 interest carry over and nothing goes towards your principal. You just extended your 24 month loan to a 25 month loan. Your per day interest is based on your owed amount, not initial loan amount.
The next issue I see a lot of is collections. SC mandates on the 11th day your payment is late, you must be mailed a Right To Cure. This gives you 20 to bring your account current. However, this letter only has to be mailed once in the life of your loan so if you're late again, it could go into collections at any point. However, account history is considered here in when it goes out. Good past payment history/communication will get you more time. For the most part though, Title Max has guidelines employees follow of when to put people out for repo. If they don't do it in a timely manner, this falls back on the manager of the office.
The cars, if picked up, you will be given the option of getting the car back by either paying the full amount owed + repo fee or an amount to get you back on a payment plan. Again, the option is based on your history with them. If you choose to not get your car back, it will be sold. A letter is then mailed stating how much the vehicle sold for. If it sells for more than you owe, you will receive a check for the difference. This only happens in very few cases like if you have a car worth $12000 and you took out a $2000 loan. The amount of times you are called, visited or your references are called is given to employees, Not set by them. You kind of have to look at it like if you were to loan someone that much money.
Another issue is being pushed for the amount you can take. You only need $1500 but are pushed to take $3000. This is a business tact every business uses. It has nothing to do with bonuses. Last, if you need to move your due date due to your pay day, you can renew your loan on the day you need your payment on. Example, you get paid on the 3rd but due on the 20th. You're late every month due to this. Go in on the 3rd and renew. Do this when you're still new into your loan though because it does reset your loan time.
Long comment short, if this is the only option you have, be smart about it. If you are due on the 3rd of the month, pay on the 3rd of the month. Don't be inconsistent. If you can't make your payment on time, call and talk to the employees. Even if they say they can commit you. Call every day and let them know it's the 12th but you still plan to be in on the 20th. People get desperate when they need money but DON'T TAKE MORE THAN YOU CAN AFFORD. Even if you qualify for more or need more. Otherwise, all you are going to do is set yourself up to struggle everyday.
If you have questions about anything, ask. If they don't know or don't explain it to you where you feel comfortable with the answer, ask someone else. Even if it means stopping by another store. Again, this was not to defend the company and I do not work for them. I feel it is important to stress this since most people commenting here are upset with the company. I just know not everyone is upset and are just looking for answers.
The regular employees at this TitleMax are amazing and helpful. However the general manager is another story. She is rude, arrogant, and one of the worst people I have ever dealt with in my life. She will speak down to you like a "bad dog". I called to speak about my husband's and my account with them. I was speaking with the woman who we signed paperwork with, mid conversation with no warning she took over the phone line and proceeded to yell at me for my questions and not answer any of them. I have since spoken with another TitleMax who has several employees who previously worked for her. They all left. She degrades her employees and clients. Please avoid TitleMax in York County VA.
I have less than perfect credit (628) and after shopping around and being denied by reputable lenders, I had no other option but Title Max. I'm grateful that I was able to receive the funds but the interest rates they charge are outrageous. I don't understand why they are not regulated by the State or Federal government. I initially borrowed $2,000.00 then an additional $600.00. I've already paid back $4,358.00 and still owe over $2,600. When I enquire about how they calculate interest, I basically get an answer that suggests they don't even know. Isn't there any options for the people like myself that had to do business with Title Max to keep them from charging outrageous interest rates?
Never again will we get a loan through Title Max! Our payment was due yesterday and we were told that they would work with us on the payment since it was our first. Well a few hours later, after their representative showed up on our door telling us to contact them (we did tell them we would be in first thing tomorrow), a recovery service came and picked our car up. The recovery guys told us that they are always jerks at Title Max. Needless to say, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME GETTING A LOAN FROM THEM BECAUSE YOU ARE PRETTY MUCH GUARANTEED TO LOSE YOUR CAR.
They told my husband that he could come in with the repayment money and that they will honor the repayment contract. When he got theree ** the store manager said it was a miscommunication and told my husband he had to pay the interest. If not they were going repo the car. He lied - that's all they do... I want to enter in the repayment like we were told.
They wrongly took my truck. Been fighting with them for over a month still haven't got nowhere. They have tried to sell it twice looks like a big court mess to fix it. I strongly suggest everyone go elsewhere for their loan needs. Their contract says they have to send you certified mail before they can repo anything but they don't follow their own contract. You get no paperwork. They come in and out like a thief in the night. I would give them 0 stars if it would allow it.
My husband and I were having money troubles and one month we fell behind on the payment they called one of our references and told them that we owe money and that they were going to repo our car. It is against the law to do that.
The min. payment you make doesn't take anything off of what you owe and this was not explained to me. I have to pay $69 as the min. $69 dollars just to keep the game going. Highway robbery at its finest. I make $200 a week. That’s not enough to keep my head above water. I can't afford $69 if it doesn't count for anything. Title max withheld information and that should be illegal. What was their response? "Oh, I'm sorry. That's our policy." Thieves.
A few years ago I did an online title loan. A man called me from Title Max, said I was approved for $2000 on my blazer. He said since I was approved, I also get a free gas card for $50.00. When I got there, she had my application ready but had no idea about the free gas card. She said she would look into it so each month I made my payment, I asked about it. I kept getting different answers. Til this day I never got a gas card or an answer, so anyone looking to get a title loan, don't go to Title Max!
Had emergency doctor bills. Could not pay full payment. First time late. They accepted first 100.00 dollars. Refused 2nd payment...I was 40.00 short. These people have been very rude. The interest rates are awful. We may lose the only transportation we have. We have no family left. They told us to go to them. They have all died. Title Max is out to get the poor people. Please check into Title Max. They are robbing people. They harass us not only on the business phone but on our cellphones and mo. cellphones.
Title Max said they did do nothing to my truck. My tools is missed and my truck is damage. Title Max don't want to fix my truck and replace my tools. I have contact headquarter - the problem have been take care of.
Don't know where to start. I had my boyfriend put my car in his name. To make a long story short he took a title loan out on my car without my consent or knowledge. He did give them my phone number had they called to verify they would have known the car was not his nor did he have permission to do take the loan out. The only call I got was them saying the loan was delinquent. I explained my situation to them and they did not care. They still took my car.
I am a single mom. I begged them to sue him for the money which come to find out they sold my car for a measly $800.00 - it was worth $5,000. I am very angry. Not only did I lose my car but the loan he got did not go towards my baby or I. It's not right. It's not fair. Now I have to figure out exactly how to get my child and I around to appointments look for a job etc. (I even offered to work for them just to keep what little I had.) From what I understand and have seen if you take a title loan out expect to lose your car. The interest, principal, and many other fees make it impossible. Do not go through them. And do not ever trust anyone no matter how close you think they are to you - do not put your title in their name. It would be best if you lost your car under your own circumstances.
Do not put yourself through this! In a desperate time I made the mistake of taking a loan against my car. Initially it was a 60 day term, and I was making progress paying it down. This company changed the terms to 30 days. It is impossible to reduce the principal paying the minimum payment. They are like leg breaking loan sharks! I called on the day my payment was due to tell them I needed to come in the next day. One hour later they called all of my references. I have a friend who was 2 days late (and had called them stating they would be in the next day) and they came to her house and left a threatening notice on her front door! Disgusting! Should be laws against this type of lending practice!
I had a loan with a TitleMax that was 30 miles from my home. Never missed a payment. In the middle of the loan they changed the interest rate and my payment doubled. Ok. I paid and never missed. They said why don't you transfer to the TitleMax closer to your house. I said ok. I went in. Did the transfer and my payment doubled because they do their loans differently. What??? I just transferred and now the payment increased on the same amount and is three times as much. “There is an F loan,” they said and their loan is different. Fraud.
In August or September 2014 we voluntarily gave our vehicle to Title Max. We were planning on getting a different vehicle. We were told no matter how much they get for the vehicle they will not come back and need more money. We were even sent a letter with the manager's signature, that they got so much for the vehicle and we owed nothing! Well around March my husband got a phone call saying we owe so much money due to the left over balance from the vehicle we handed over. When we finally got the money to pay it off, even after we felt like we didn't owe anything because of what we were told back when we gave them the vehicle. They ended up putting a lean on a vehicle we had a loan with them in the past. That title was in both our names along with our current address.
After we paid back our extra money we received the title back with only my husband's name and a totally different address that we never lived at! Yet, this loan had both of our names. This company needs to be shut down and would not recommend them for nothing!
I was employed by this "company" for about 15 months. My boss came to me in early December and said that she was told that we had too many people in our office and she was told to get rid of someone. She also told me that I was doing a great job but to watch my back. Fast forward to February, I was wrote up by an Upper management individual that didn't work around me at all. He actually wrote me up for being wrote up! One of the silliest things I have ever seen. 2 weeks later this "upper managements" puppet was sent to let me go for "poor performance". Corporate downsizing is what it's called, but they were too spineless to say that. PATHETIC COMPANY PERIOD.
Just making a minimum payment is paying the interest and fees only. It's a loan shark company making millions a month on fees. It's a revolving door, they keep you in debt. Don't fall for these scams. The company operates overseas.
I pawned my title for $3,200. Paid $400+ payments a month. Got loan July 2014. I ended up having to get another loan to pay them off because the interest rates were so outrageous. By April 2015 I had already paid $3,473 which was more than I borrowed and still had to get a loan for $3,585 to pay a $3,200 loan off... DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY.
I have always been on time with my payments. One day I had a stroke and was out of work the first GM from this company was really compassionate and nice. Now they have a new GM named ** who is so rude and not very nice to customers. I know I'm late with my payments but I still pay the late charges and sometimes my checks do not come in the same day my payment is due so I let them know I need to wait until my payday and he tells me very rudely that we can not extend the loan and if I'm late again I should have someone else by off the loan. I wish I knew who the new lenders are. I would not recommend the title max on 50th st. in Lubbock...
I bought a mustang that I gave over 30k for. The title was in my name and my wife’s name. My wife decided to take out a loan for the car without my knowledge for almost 3k dollars. I lost my job so my wife couldn't pay the loan and didn't tell me. They came and repoed the car on Feb 18th. My wife told me finally what happened and I called the corporate office for the lady to tell me we gave them the car back which is a lie. She took down my info and said she will have the regional manager call me back to discuss.
I waited and kept calling back and the manager is never in the store and apparently does not know how to use a phone. I had my wife to call and they said that they sold my car at auction for 2700 dollars after only 2 weeks after repo - not giving me a chance to get my car. The store is on South Fort Apache Road next to Subway. Try to avoid this business altogether and if you do go there and the manager is there, take a picture of him because this can go in Ripley's Believe it or Not as we hear about him but he is never seen. I still think the manager is a myth.
They have a duplicate title on my vehicle & they been calling me now for over 2 years & I have had to go & make this payment & they also made me sign papers. I think everyone should get together & put a class action LAW SUIT against TITLE MAX FRANCHISE.
I went in to a Title Max in Virginia to make a payment. I accidently got the check for 10 dollars less than my payment. The rep asked when I would be back to make the full payment. As I checked the time she begin to yell at me. We exchanged words. I then asked for the 800 number to make a complaint because she was rude. I stated I wouldn't not be back until I spoke to someone about my concerns. I called the 800 number several times before getting a person. I asked to have a general manager call me back. She called the next day and took my complaint. My payment was not 30 days late and they came and towed my car just before she called me back.
She told me usually they require the full amount of the loan but since I called she would override that part but I had to give them the payment I originally went to pay plus the next month payment and 250 dollar towing. She told me she would speak with the store manager about my complaint and have her call me to tell me how to get the car back. I went in to pay the money and I spoke with the store manager. She was there the night of the incident in and never said nothing nor did she say she was a manager. I asked her today why she didn't intervene, she said she was working with a new employee. This costs me an extra 250 dollars and I don't think that's right but not sure what to do or who to report it to.

Paid timely on loan but never reduced amount owed... Also my daughter paid off a title loan and had to retrieve the E TITLE. at title office and had to pay 16 dollars for title.
In January 2015 I spoke with the manager of Title Max. I told her that my car is in the shop I need to fix it. I told her that I was unable to pay. I also told her that I would like to turn it in to them. She replied to me, "We don't want to take your car", she stated that she will work with me until February 2015. Well, February is here and now my situation has not changed. I have spoken with her several times and said I will work something out. 5 minutes past and this lady called me back after I have talked to her. I don't understand why is she continuing calling me after I spoke with her. It is February 19, 2015 and she still calling me 2 to 3 times a day. What can I do about this situation, because I feel this is harassment? Please HELP!
Title max employee giving my balance, and personal information to my sister on September because I get behind my payment. On September 2014, I call them and let them know that I can't pay because I don't have the money to pay and if they want the truck they can come to my house and pick it up. They told me if I can take it to their place because if they send the wreck I will be responsible for $350.00 to $500.00 for wreck fees.
On this month I pay $550.00 because of a fee for not pay on time. Now on January I cannot afford this payment anymore and I call them to let them know that I don't have the money to make this payment and they can come and pick up the truck. Again they tell me to take the truck to their place because if they send the wreck I will have to pay $500.00 more.
They keep calling me 3-5 times daily and also they call to my sister several times a day. They call my sister last week 2/4/2015 and my sister tell them that they can come and pick up the truck. They told my sister that they don't want the truck because they lend me the $3000.00 dollars when the truck was in good condition over a year ago (My truck is in good working condition).
My sister told them that I have been paying for this loan for over 15 months and the balance is growing. I have been paying $370.00 monthly for 15 months on a $3,000.00 loan and the balance still on $3,200.00. I have never missing a payment and some payment I made was over the minimum payment. I need help. Honestly I cannot afford this payment anymore but they don't want the truck and I don't have the money to pay them. They keep calling my sister and me several times a day. I NEED HELP.
I am behind on my loan which I completely understand they have to call references. But I did not know that telling a reference all about the loan, how much I owe, how much I need to pay, the last day I paid and the last amount I paid. The person that this lady decided to share this information with happened to not know anything about myself having a loan. Not only will I probably get my car repoed but I now have to deal with issues at home. I called around to other loan places and was informed that that was against the law.
I called the office back and was transferred to the supervisor which she was actually trying to take action but she informed me that she had to have the district manager call me. Well Ms ** the DM was not very sympathetic. She basically told me to come turn my car in but yet did not take blame for her employees actions. What can I do now? Can something actually be done to stop this from happening again? TitleMax on San Pedro Ave.
Warran ** told me as long as I make my balance of $1,416.98 by 02/04/2015 this was the amount I had to pay. I went back on 2/4/2015 and he told me I owed $141 additional. He could not give me a reason but told me he would call his manager and get the charges removed. I called back later that day and he said his manager said it could not be removed and I told him "but you said if I paid it by this day 2/4/15 this was the amount I had to pay $1,416.98."
Titlemax owes million in credits. What they don't do and don't want you to know - if your due date falls on a holiday or a day when they are closed, the contract states you can pay the next day and be credited the interest. They don't tell you this and if they do it to everyone, that equates to millions. They have over 1300 locations with an average of 400 customers per store. Daily interest at 2.00 to 18.00 ..........Everyone needs to go back and look to see how many times this has happened to you.......Get your Money back and your Title.
I've been with Title Max for a few years now. When I first started, I had a wonderful associate help me out and never had an issue with them until my account was transferred to the Title Max on 4311 Fredericksburg Rd in San Antonio (Balcones Heights). Total nightmare! Now I will admit, there have been times that my payment has been late but I did make the payments along with the late fees that accrued on the account. When I did go into this particular Title Max to ask for an extension, I would have to speak with a manager (Sandra or Ray). I went into the store today to ask for an extension and I overheard Sandra telling the agent who I spoke with at first that "I always do this", "I'm always late", "She breaks commitments" etc, etc. After a few minutes, Sandra comes over and doesn't even acknowledge me. She sits down and says "Ms. **, why do you need an extension until the 8th (Feb)?"
I told her I was in between paydays and just paid rent and tuition and just needed a few more days. She told me, "Well the 8th is a Sunday and I cannot give you that much time due to the fact that your car was repossessed last month." Let me tell you about that...at the end of December 2014, my car was repossessed by TM. I had to pay about $600 to get it released back to me. I paid the money and got my car back. About 10 days later, I walked outside and my car was gone again. After calling the police, I was informed that TM repossessed my car AGAIN. I didn't understand how that was possible since my account was current and next payment not due until 1-30-2015. I called TM that Monday and they told me they didn't clear out the repossession order from the other companies. No apologies at all.
I waited about 5 hours to get my car back. When it was returned by the repo company, it was filthy. My car was already being sent for auction. All of my personal belongings in the car were stuffed into trash bags. Some of my personal belongings were broken and/or torn. Now we come to today 1/30/15...I went in today to ask for an extension and that was when Sandra talked down to me, was very unprofessional and very condescending. I have never experienced such horrible customer service in my entire life. I'm in the process of transferring my account to another store. I did call the customer service department for TM and will hopefully get a return phone call from the district manager. Sandra needs to be fired! STAY AWAY FROM TITLE MAX IN BALCONES HEIGHTS!!!
I got a 1500 loan with Title Max in June of 2014. Made monthly payments starting at $260 a month. I was never late at first, but my balance wasn't moving. The first $520 was interest only, they told me. I continued to make payment (never under $200). In November, my payday changed. Title Max would not work with the days I would be able to pay them (which were the same every month). I would hide my car for 1 week every month til payday. Now it is January, even though I have never missed a months payment, I still owe almost $1300. This should be against the law. Total rip off!!! I will be able to pay them off Friday (today is Wednesday), but my payment is due today. I called to see if I will be ok til Friday, and they said no, they do not give grace days. I would not recommend Title Max to my worst enemy. They are robbers and carjackers in disguise.
A store manager named Cassandra ** in the Manassas, Va location was very disrespectful to my husband and I by constantly taking cigarette breaks pretty much all day and coming back in the store spraying very unpleasant perfume and it covering everybody's clothes. Additionally, she is very unprofessional by calling my husband on his cellular phone from her cellular phone instead of the office line to discuss business. Very unprofessional.
I was unaware that South Carolina does not have or enforce Usury Laws for lending. I made an unwise hasty decision to borrow money from Title Max just before Christmas due to some unexpected financial difficulties. I took out a loan without fully understanding their rates or how they compile their interest fees. I borrowed 3000 dollars for what I planned on being a short term loan. And after pay 2 payments of 362.00, only approximately 50 dollars has been applied to the principal. That is almost 200% interest. I just want people in SC to be sure they research these practices before they are locked into a very bad deal.
I borrowed 800 from title max. What a big dummy I was. I borrowed it and now I owe them 2,800 wtf!! Is that **. Now if I pay back in full early I owe them 2006. I'm never again doing this ** again with them. So lucky I get a big tax check back.
Title max keeps calling me, sometimes as often as twice a day leaving voice messages with detailed information about someone's account that I know but it's not my account. The manager has called me many times and discussed at great length detailed information on days past due etc etc, the fact that it was going to get repoed and has left detailed messages on my phone. This is not my account, this belongs to a relative and they only use my name as a reference. They are breaking the law by not only leaving detailed legal information about someone else's account but they are also discussing it with me. I have explained to her she was breaking the law but she continues to do this. She manages a title max in Plano Illinois. Her name is Christy.
I was unable to pay at the time of my payment. I let them know, went in and filled in a paper for an extension then the next day I was called and told “No extension. Call back now.” I called back. Anna answered. I asked for the 800 number. Told to call back when someone else was in the office and hung up on me, so I finally got the number through another location in El Paso TX. Called and I still have not heard from anyone back on this. Now I feel that Anna or the company is going to come take my car even though I am paying tomorrow so I have decided to go public with this problem so people could know to watch out for them because they will screw you over.
I was Paying off as much as I could, but they repossessed my car like a thief in the night. I had to borrow $1000 from my sons to get my car out. They are still holding my Title for $300 that I owe them. They only take cash payments. I have a debit MasterCard and and they would not run it. Why make it hard for me to pay? Title Max on 8000 Bandera Rd San Antonio, Tx 78228.
Took a loan in 2004 for $500, paid every month for over 3 years. In 2007 I tried to payoff the loan, asked for a payoff balance, was told that I owed over $1200. I refused to pay that amount and fought with title max for the next year I was paying $125 a month. Asked why the balance never went down and with all their fees only $5 was going to pay on the loan then late fees were added because the total payment was not being paid. So I ended up owing more than I borrowed. Never got my title back and the vehicle no longer runs since it is 1998. However I cannot do anything with it because the lien is still on the title and title max will not release it.
I borrowed $3000 from Titlemax in Temple, Tx due to needing some money from being off work. I just needed $1500 but was sweet talked into taking $3000. Now I can't pay back my loan. I got into a bind again borrowed $1500 (I should have known better). Now I'm in hock into Titlemax for two (2) vehicles... once I'll let go but not the other because it belonged to my dad who's gone now. There is no way I can live like this anymore and I want out!! I know I did it to myself but if you are thinking about going to Titlemax for money, DON'T DO IT!!!
I applied for a title loan, very easy process, but unfortunately my payment had gotten to behind and they sent for a repo. Titlemax sent me a letter in the mail to pay my remaining balance of my first bill by 11/21/2014. Please note, the next day after receiving that letter, they sent the assist manager to my door, 12/21/2014 had not even come. TitleMax called everyday at least 2 times a day, to pursue a payment. Even after I made arrangements to pay them. Overall, the store manager had my car repossessed on 12/29/2014, by Nationwide Recovery, telephone number 312-309-3559. My problem is with both parties, Titlemax said I need to pay $1000, for my car and I can go back to the scheduled payments and they would send a release to Nationwide Recovery so I could recover the vehicle.
I then asked the store manager if he could put that in writing and he said no, he could not do that. One of my concerns with Nationwide is, once they received the release, they says I need an appointment to pick up my vehicle. A few other problems were, the staff was nasty to me, she hung up on me 4-5 times, accused me of being another customer, told me her boss is Barack Obama, and then said she was closed and to call Friday, Jan 2, 2014. I just do not feel safe paying TitleMax the money, and still have to received an appointment from Nationwide. I really feel like it was a scam all the way around. Now, titlemax has sent my car for repossession and I have no idea who has my car because the Nationwide is not disclosing information to me.
I went to TitleMax in Clarkston, GA looking to get a $200 loan. After she went through the process she said I can get over $2000. She said the lowest I can receive is $500 (which sounds like another SCAM). To make a long story short, she said "On a $500 loan you would only have to pay $595 back." I said, "That's all?" She said "YES!" (Which was another LIE). When I looked over the paperwork, I would have been paying over $1,600 on a $500 loan. BOY DID I GET UP OUT OF THERE. DON’T BE FOOLED.
This company harasses and threatens you nonstop. Don't give them any business. Scam artists.
We borrowed 2300 and paid 1200 two months later. Title Max said late charges and penalty are 1000 extra a month so only 200 went towards the loan so each month added up and now it’s 9000. There is no way to pay this off. This should be against the law.
I went into the Title Max in Phoenix Arizona on July 1st. My dad was terminally ill. Him and my son share the same birthday which is July 4th. We knew that he probably would not make it another year so it was important for me to be able to take my kids from Arizona down to California to be able to spend the holiday and celebrate my dad's birthday. It was going to be a little pricey. I didn't have enough money to make it happen so went into the Title Max to see what I could qualify for. I had a 2005 Cadillac Escalade and I was told it was worth $10,000, that is the amount of the loan I could get. I immediately told her "No no no no that's too much. I only need maybe 2000, maybe 2200." That would ensure that I could pay for gas, hotel, food and buy my son and father a decent Christmas or birthday presents.
When I told her I only needed 2000 maybe 2200 that's when the high pressure sales begin. "But Mr. ** what if you're traveling out in the middle of the desert, your car breaks down?" "It's okay I have triple A." "Oh but you know in the middle of the desert to take 2 hours to get to you. You have your kids and your wife. You know you'll be out just stuck in the car out in the desert. It is summer you know. To get to a hundred ten degrees out there it would just be better for you to take 7000 at least. That way you have a peace of mind." Again I explain to her I don't need that much with $2200 my monthly payment would be about 200 maybe $300 a month easy for me to pay. I can handle that payment. "Well Mr. ** I'm looking at your check stub and you'll be able to make the monthly payment on $7000 easy you make it up." Again I say "No I don't need that much. I only need this small amount. It'd be pointless for me to take all of that when I don't need it."
She stopped for a minute. She goes out, she takes pictures of the vehicle, of the odometer, comes back in and continues typing in information all the while she still pushing me to take $7000. It took a little bit longer close to an hour and a half for the whole transaction to be done. All I know she still pushing me to take the $7,000. Now this time I've already said no 6 times. It's getting a little late, we're planning on leaving the next day. I've got to take the car to get an oil change and make sure the tires are okay. "If we're going to make this trip again I appreciate all your help but I only need 2000 to 2200." "Well Mr. ** you know your vehicle's worth the ten thousand a piece of March to take the full ten thousand but I understand that's quite a bit so why don't we just set you up with the 7000. You'll be able to make the monthly payment. It's only going to be maybe $100 more than hundred fifty dollars more than what you're going to be paying now as it is. It be easy for you to take it then you could just take that money you can put in the bank and save it for a future date. Christmas is going to be coming around and coming up. The holidays are coming you can use that money towards Christmas shopping," All sorts of other things not knowing that I need to go and I just want to get this over and done with it.
"Fine fine fine okay fine." Now at that time it was never told me that I could take the loan that I received use whatever I needed out of it and take the remaining and apply it back to my painting that was never told to me. The only two options that were given to me were I could take the money and deposit it into my account and use it at a later date or I could take advantage of a program that would allow me to pay off the loan in less than 2 years but the payments are higher. Those were the only two options given. If I had known the option of taking the money using when I need it and turning around to paying it right back to my payment I would have done that because again I only needed 2200 at the most. 7000 was grossly a gross amount. I did not need that much but Sony continue to push, continue to push, continue to push. Now they repossess the car and I call the office to speak to the office manager cuz I'm a little upset at the fact and I was pushed into a loan that I didn't really want.
Now I'm paying an amount that I can't afford and I know I could afford it. The lady helping me to push me into it says "Yeah I knew you couldn't afford it. I was looking at your paycheck stub." So if you know your customer can afford something why would you push him to take it. Well here's the reason why they tell you they don't get a bonus off of any loans that are closed. They tell you they don't receive any money from vehicles at a repossession that are so so. That is all a lie. They don't call it a commission anymore they call it a perk and I know this because I went to a open house interview that they were having to apply for a job and I ask them about their pay, how do they get paid. They get a base salary and then on top of that they get paid for every moment that is closed. They also get a percentage the amount that is sold from every vehicle.
Now they say that they will sell your vehicle and then once they've gotten their money will give you the remaining balance. That's not the case. I looked online, I found close to 300 people that have all had the same complaints about Title Max, all told the same things, same type of things happen. None of them received any money after their vehicle was sold. In fact 65% of them couldn't get any information on the vehicle, what it sold for. We're too old for anything. I am starting a class action lawsuit. I encourage anyone has had the same experience with Title Max to get on board because until they are punished and reprimanded they're going to continue these practices and continue to prey on people when they're in their weakest state.
Took out a loan with Title Max location 1745 S Interstate 35 E Carrollton, TX 75006 spoke with ** General Manager. When I took out the loan all smiles of course they wanted my money. I went in to pay it off 30 days exactly and on my due date. To my surprise they could not give me my title back according to them they had nothing to do with getting it back from DNV. They also could not give me a date I would be getting my title back but then again I had paid them in full. Of course now I was mad because the guy was being rude and tried to treat me as I was dumb. Asked him where in the contract stated what he was claiming and of course it is not in the contract. So I asked if I took my payment back until title was ready for me to pick up since it was not my fault they did not have it he stated I would accrue extra fees for being delinquent on account.
When asked to speak with someone else he refer me to "customer service number." Took about an hour for them to answer. When they finally did, spoke with worst rep ever name was ** same thing rude like you would not believe never apologized for the inconvenience and just kept saying okay okay okay offered NO RESOLUTION. When I asked for supervisor, advised there was none. She could sent a request and they would get back to me in 24 hours. Asked for a complaint line and her supervisors name would not give me any. Asked for an address also stated they had no address to give. All she stated was she was located in Dallas. I have never had such a bad experience with a company. Will never return and I pray I do get my title back and not get screwed by this people since I did pay loan off. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
I live in a town 47 miles away from this company store. I went in to make a payment and was short $7 from what my minimum payment was and they refused my payment. 47 miles I drove to hand them over $130 and they refused it. This amount owed should be voided and my title returned!
I was looking to get a loan and stumbled up on advertisement of Title Max saying that they have low interest rates and also get $50 for new customer incentive. I called and they said that they will send me to their sister company in Tampa. They sent me to instaloan in Tampa on Fowler. Not only didn't I receive $50 for first time customer but I DID not realize that when I make my payment that it only covers the interest. Try paying, $330 a month and still owe $1700 every month. That's right! Didn't realize I was being charged 47% until someone looked it over and told me that maybe I need to talk with someone. Now I'M hiding my vehicle, have two kids in school full time. But I refuse to pay them that much money. Can hardly afford payments. And it's not good to know that none is going towards actual loan. I need help!
I took out a $10k loan in June. Only needing $1800, but really could use some funds to pay other bills immediately and expected a very large check the following week. (That didn't show up and has been delayed possibly for 8 months!) I know better than to do a title loan and should have followed my instinct! However, when speaking to them he explained that if I took 10K on my 2010 Equinox the interest would be much lower about 26%, so ok that's not horrible. What he failed to say was that it was 26% a day! No Way, that doesn't compute in my book.
So I left with my money (giving the $18k to someone else do they could put it as a down payment on a car that I co signed for) (2nd mistake) and went and put the rest in the bank. Went home, paid some bills and sent a payment of 3K to Title max. Paid an additional payment in September of $1200. Then I was electrocuted and air evaced to the trauma and burn center and spent several days in the hospital. About that time my next payment was due. They began calling 6 times a day even when I was in the hospital, the nurse answered and told them I couldn't speak to them as I couldn't talk. When I could speak I spoke slowly and explained what happened. I had a severe concussion and some internal burns, but would take care of the payment as soon as I could.
Now I get out of the hospital and still not well and not able to make any legal decisions but they call and call, I answer when I can and explain that I am still not well. I cannot drive or use the computer or wrote at all yet. Things are getting better but I could possibly have someone else bring you the money, “NO you need to bring it in.” Well if that's the case then we have to wait but previously I paid online. So now I am doing better and called them to arrange to come by and pay but I need to borrow the funds. I am advised that it's fine come in anytime between today (Monday) and Friday by 5pm and it will be fine. I also advised that my house sold over the weekend so it will close on Dec 10th, therefore I will pay them in full by the 15th of December.
Ok, no worries, so this morning my doorbell rings and it’s some guy to repo my car. I advise him that I made arrangements the day before to make my payment. He said “Well, call them” and I did, but I was told the person I talked to was in a meeting away from the office and didn't have that authority, "if you are late at all, the head office can make the call to repo."
Now, keep in mind that I paid in advance previously and more than I had to pay, I wasn't late on the next payment. I answered the phone calls and explained the situation and made arrangements. I asked for a lower payment but was declined. I asked to pay online and was declined. I asked for someone else to make the payment and was declined. If you need money desperately it will be better to get it from a loan shark than title max!
I took out a loan in 2013 for 3,000 and have been paying 345 since then and my balance is 2,500. They will not change my payment date so I can pay on time according with my check because I get disability on the 3rd of each month. So therefore I am always late.
I got a $1200.00 loan and the percentage rate is 155.989 and it will cost me 2.754.25 for a $1200.00 loan. I am going to have someone look at this.
I did receive a loan from Title Max. I made my payments on time every time until I did reach financial hardship due to health related reasons. I know this is no excuse, however I did stay in contact with the manager of the location I had my loan with. The location was SO very far away after I had became ill to drive and make payments. I begged to have my file relocated to a closer store so payments were easier for me to make, but they refused and they also refuse anyone else to walk in and give them a payment for you.
They did repossess my vehicle and I have yet to hear anything back from Title Max about how much the auctioned price was. I was unable to get my vehicle back due to mounting hospital and medical bills unfortunately, and I do realize this is all to my blame, however they can be human and send a letter in the mail stating how much my vehicle auctioned for since, I do believe, the excess money goes to the owner of the vehicle (the owner they repoed from). So, there is no way they auctioned for less than what I owed on my loan. My vehicle was worth so much more than the amount I owed these crooks.
Please, desperate or not, PLEASE stay away from these guys. I was desperate. Now I do drive a brand new vehicle, so Title Max just stole my vehicle minus the amount of money I DO owe them after paying my loan faithfully and only being in my first month of being late. I am so disgusted at how the human race treats each other. When you’re down, you don't just keep kicking, you usually try and assist to resolve the entire matter so everyone can possibly win. But not with Title Max. They DO NOT CARE. Unless it is money.
Sincerely and truthful.... Where is my money from the auction?? That is my main complaint right now. I guess I will have to look into it further by retaining an attorney. That is what I have been told so I may find out what they have done with my vehicle and even see if it was auctioned off for the mere amount I did owe on it. It was worth SO VERY MUCH more. My error is trusting when I needed help the most.
I had a loan at Title Max. I was able to pay it off, no problem. I needed to get another loan. I made my payment the first month with no problems but then the second payment, they say because I didn't have full coverage on my vehicle, they added their coverage. I had to get full coverage from my own insurance company so the payment to Title Max would go to my principal. Now this month, my payment was on the 20th. I show up the next day, ask if I could make the payment today. The representative told me ok. He told me to call back on the 30th to get the correct amount to pay for the 31st. I called yesterday and a representative told me my payment was $315. I advise the rep I would show up today and she advised that is fine. I show up today and the rep there tells me because I am over 10 days late, my payment would be $458. I was ticked off, told them their reps never mentioned anything about a late fee. I told them that I was not advised about the late fee when I showed up on the 21st and when I called in yesterday. They just referred to the contract I signed. I am trying to pay off the account as soon as possible and warn ppl about this sham.
My wife and I needed cash quick for a dental procedure that my wife needed. We had seen their ads and thought we would give them a shot, BIG MISTAKE. You get to keep your car as long as you pay for their outrageous interest rates and terms. A loan shark would have given us a better deal. We made the payments until we had supposedly 5 payments left and I got laid off for 3 weeks. I explained to them that we could not pay the full amount but we could pay half of the payments. Next thing we know is they are calling us 3 to 4 times a day plus calling our family and references. I borrowed the money to pay them off from family and they said we owed them nearly triple what they originally told us. I didn't have that and said I would pay them what I had. They gladly accepted it and then 2 days later they took our car and told us we had 10 days to pay the remaining cost plus towing, repo charges and fees. Long story short, our loan turned into a loan almost 4 times what we got from them.
In July of 2014, I bought a pickup from a guy. I received a clear title, the numbers matched. I went down to the TXDMV and got a 30 day temp tag. As the title was not in his name, I needed to get an affidavit signed buy the original owner. I had to go out of town for my job. Well when I got back I found out the guy I bought the truck from somehow, got another title went down put the truck in his name, two days after the temp expired and got a $1,200 loan on it. I went to the store that gave him the loan and asked the girl working the counter, "How could you give a loan on a vehicle that you have not seen?"
The mgr. said she did not do it that she knew of this guy, he came in all the time trying to get a loan. She would not do it because he always had paper tags. She felt he was shady. She stated that her new assistant gave the loan. I asked, "Why would she do that without looking at the vehicle and checking the numbers?" She, the assistant looked me square in the eye and said she did look at the truck. She stated that it was white. I looked at them both and laughed. I have had the truck locked up in a body shop since July 27 AND ITS SEPT 3. The loan was made August 29 and to this day the truck is still at the body shop.
The assistant would rather lie about what she did or did not do, And let me #1 LOSE A TRUCK THAT I PAID FOR, #2, CALL ME A LIAR, #3 LET A CONMAN GET AWAY WITH WHAT HE DID, And the sad thing about it I have all the paper work from the State of TX, and A sworn statement from the body shop, and best of all the Truck is not white and never has been. It's liquor black and says so on the title. But the upper mgt. at this Fine upstanding lending co. will not do anything about it, so we are going to have our day in court, channel 4, 5, 8, 11 news are going to get involved here in Fort Worth. This says a lot about their Upper Managers. I have never done business with this company, and I never will. Hopefully they will be exposed in the public eye, here in Dallas and Fort Worth anyway, and won't be ripping people off anymore.
Let's start by stating I took a $4000 loan back in June of 2013. Payments equaling $445 monthly. I have not only made all of my payments until this month of October 2014. Not only paying original $4000, but even more in interest. It seems as I just keep paying and now still owe $2600+ after all these payments. This was initially set up by them, misleading me to pay this off within a year??? Ridiculously I have paid over $6000 already. I am 22 days late, and have already had my truck attempted to be repossessed. This company preys on those knowing their financial situations, due to medical reasons myself, and takes advantage of this. They claim they are not in the business of taking vehicles, until you are a day late....massive calling over and over. Nasty messages, and threats about getting their payment, and taking your vehicle. How in God's name is this practice legal for any consumer. Not even any grace period, 30-90days for you to rectify this. I own this vehicle I bought 2012 for $17k, and stand to lose it because they are robbing honest hard working people everywhere. This must be stopped and addressed. Gauging people is just another form of robbing them. I see no fair practice laws regarding Title Max.
I owe Title Max and I missed 3 months no payments when I got laid off of work. They came to get my car today and I just gave the guy my keys and he rode off and they didn't need a tow truck. So the guy told me to call Title Max and see if I could just pay them a payment and get my car back but idk how true it is. Can someone tell me something?
Try to make this short. We got behind on our payment and were having a hard time. They called us repeatedly numerous times a day - ok, but they called our family repeatedly. Called people not on our reference repeatedly. Showed up at family members houses - how they found out where they live I have no clue. Woke up one day and vehicle has been repoed - ok we were behind. Try to set something up to get it back but told we need 600 and vehicle was taken hour and half away. If do not get money in 10 days it's going to auction 3 hrs away.
After many conversations and a lot of driving - got vehicle back. It was damaged after being towed but they say no proof. Now our next payment is due two days before payday. We work it out with manager. Another girl calls and leaves a nasty message, “You’re late again… blah, blah, blah”. We call her and manager never made notes. No one talks to each other there - Mistakes are made and no one cares. I can't wait to have this paid off!!
I would never tell anyone about Title Max. I went in one month - walked out with only have signed a payment receipt. Went back to sign contract and to my surprise it was already signed. One of the worker had already signed my new contract with not having my consent. Be very careful about what they charge. Was also being over charged by $235 dollars and I'm glad I seen it. That's how they keep you from paying off your loan. Check your interest charge cause they will overcharge you and where did the difference of that money go - lost. If you read this DO NOT get a loan.
I gained an account with Title Max July, my 1st payment wasn't due till August, made my payment approximately 15 days late and I was subject to this outrageous late fees which gotten to be about $400 something and the whole time I'm thinking it would be okay. I'm contacting them letting them know when I was going to be able to come in and pay off my fees. They never posted my payment to my account, wasn't going to post it until I paid up the late fees completely as if they were deliberately trying to set me up for failure and before I could even come in and pay the final payment the manager was so rude so refused to take my late fee after the fact that I had already explained to her my situation. Been making attempts to get the account update, they had repo my vehicle and told me that they wasn't going to give it back until I paid the whole loan off.. Never have I ever been in a situation like this and neither will I recommend them to anyone ever. I can be on the verge of becoming homeless. I get put out in the streets before I ever become a customer of their's ever again.
I just picked up my Car Title after dealing with this company for over a year and I would like to take a moment to go over my entire experience. At first I was referred by another company so I called and spoke to a very energetic person whom of which initially answered all of my questions and concerns. When I first started although, each time I went in for the most part there was always someone else working, I felt at ease. I hated that each transaction took 20-30 minutes to complete and that was only if no one else was trying to make a payment because they hardly ever had more than one person working at a time and if there was another person, they were training and could not process my transaction. I later would ask why the revolving door and I was told that the location was used as a Training Site!!! I took that as if someone gave you the wrong information on one of your visits that in all likelihood they would not be there by your next transaction.
I will admit that when they had an outside lender they were patient as long as you showed a good payment history. However, in July they lost their lender and EVERYTHING CHANGED. The representatives got rude and I was even told that they "Were Less Patient." I knew then that I had to be DONE!!! with this company!! Well today I walked in with a Cashier's Check $3000.00 and Cash $4.00 and I was told that they could not take it!!!!! My official Balance $3024.18 and I was told that I had to leave a balance $300!!!! I asked to see it in writing. The representative told me that she did not know where it was in the contract and called the District Manager who stated the same thing!!!
I Could Not Believe that they would refuse Certified $$$$ because of $20.18. I asked the representative why was I never told this, she immediately begins to speak ill of a former employee. I stopped her and reminded her that she herself did not know where in the contract or the disclosure statement that it revealed that $300 had to be left on the loan. I pulled out the remaining $20.18 from my Wallet and gave this company the balance and Got My Title Back. Thank God!!!! DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!
I called to informed them when I would be in to make my payment, they were requiring me to come in & discuss it. I let them know I couldn't come because they will be closed when I get off but I would be in on the day I said. They were very rude on both times we spoke - managers included.
My wife had taken out a car title loan and by the time we had paid that off, my wife's GPS system had been stolen out of her car. The people at TitleMax had passed the blame on the towing company they deal with. The towing company passed the blame on TitleMax. Needless to say we will never ever do business with these crooks again. That television commercial is a joke needless to say.
My husband went in to the store to pay our first month's payment. Granted it was 2 days late. He stayed in contact with these people. Telling them what was going on and he told them he would be down there to make the payment. Because supposedly they tell you if you can't make a payment on time "call them and explain the situation and they will work with you on it." I drove my husband down there to make the payment and then they turn around and say the payment "hasn't" been made. When I MYSELF drove him down there! All they are is a MONEY GRUBBING company! If I EVER get them paid off, I will NEVER do business with them again!!
Will never do business with this company again! Received a title loan from the location on Hwy 78 Forestdale Al! Management is rude - custom service is slow. Every time you go to make a payment which by the way has to be in person by the person who got the loan it takes nearly 20-30 minutes each visit! I work so I sent my wife to make our payment on a Saturday and they refused to accept payment because she was NOT on the loan! Company will not allow anyone to come in and make a CASH or debit card payment on your account unless you give them power of attorney. It's not like my wife was paying off the loan and trying to get the title! We just needed to make a monthly payment and it was refused until she was given power of attorney rights! Horrible customer service at this location - manager talks to customers with NO respect and as if he is better than his customers. NEWS flash title max employees it's us CUSTOMERS that keep you in business!
I have a Title Max loan that I got behind on. I was just wondering if there is anything I can do about Title Max giving my address out. I have received on my doorstep a business card. The company is Countywide Investigations - Civil, Criminal, & Domestic Investigations. It has a number, the investigator's name, address. On the back of this card it said must call asap to avoid further legal actions. With that being said I looked up this company. Turns out it's fake and this has happened to other people before. Isn't this against the law to fake a company also other people giving out your information. Also threatening further legal action is going to take place. I have talked to cops about it. They told me there is nothing Title Max can do to me and just ignore it. I just feel like this is wrong if they gave out my address what else did they give out my social security number. Who knows ...
I applied for a loan. They told me that I was eligible for the max which was $1600.00 and that my payments would be $223.00. I really needed the money at the time. It really is hard paying this money back. If something comes up, I have to pay that much back in interest plus keep up with my payments. With my husband being hired and laid off from previous PT jobs, I struggle to pay bills, manage our kids, and our car. The thing that really upsets me most is I know I've given them $1600.00 or more. My car's book value is $1200.00. NEXT MONTH WILL BE A YEAR SINCE I'VE TAKEN OUT A LOAN WITH THEM. I would've paid my loan off in February of this year. But my tax refund was intercepted. I really and honestly refuse to continue paying on the same loan in 2018. Geez!!!! I realize they need to make money but I'm not trying to file for bankruptcy and live under a bridge.
I have a title loan with Title Max in Helotes, TX. Amount financed is $1520.32, Total of Payments - $1747.69, Finance charge - $227.35. Their phone # is 210-695-9094. The individual that I have recently dealt with is Nicole. On my contract it states under *late fee* "If you fail to pay us within 10 days after the payment date, you will owe us a late charge equal to 5% of the LATE PAYMENT amount or $7.50, whichever amount is greater". Nicole states, The payment I will owe on my 11th day past due date will be $233.00 (which is what Nicole says I owe, as of the 10th day past due date) PLUS 5% late charge on whole amount financed of $1520.34 plus late fees for each individual day after the 10th. Nothing on my contract states any other fees of any sort. They have already broken their contract. Now if I don't continue to pay these outlandish fees they say I owe, then I risk losing my vehicle too. Title Max deserves to be shut down. They should not be allowed to continue to charge these fees that are not on contract period.
I literally just 5 mins ago saw your ad on television. It took 5 minutes to make an account so I could write this review. I just wanted to tell you that your ad you have with the girl rapping is literally the most ignorant, actually insulting and slightly offensive. Not everyone is a fan of rap or hip hop isn't the point of an advertisement to be appealing to a large audience that was terrible. You should probably reconsider it is humorous though I must admit. The level of professionalism is astonishing just went right out the window. Happy reading, morons.
Every time I come in or call, nothing matches. You call and they tell you your payment is one thing then you come in it's something else. You spend 20 minutes just to pay loan in cash. How hard is it to take money. You get them paperwork and they don't add it to your file. Disclose your loan info to whoever they call on your references!
I have been a valued customer at TitleMax, for approximately 5 years and estimate approximately 5-10 separate successful and completed Auto Title Loan Transactions in my Customer File. 3-24-2014, I initiated a New Auto Title Loan with 1996 Chrysler Town & Country LXI Van. I requested $350.00 to meet my families current hardships and I needed a payment that I was able to pay. They offered me $700.00, I declined offer and requested $350.00.
FAILURES by LICENSEE, AGENTS, and REPRESENTATIVES to PROVIDE "LEGIBLE" LEGAL DOCUMENT of "PLAN TO SELL PROPERTY LETTER", after Repossession, and Unable to Provide ACCURATE INFORMATION regarding the Contracts Terms, Definitions, and Disclosures. I received a letter postmarked 7/12 with intent to sell after 7/21 and the letter was printed and the left side of page is blank and more than 1/2 of the Legal Document is unable to view or read legal details included due to letter was printed with a printer that's cartridge was out of ink and too light to read.
Failure of Licensee's Agents and Representatives INABILITY to comprehend or explain Basic Legal Disclosures, Provisions, or Legal Terms in the contract and how these terms impact or affect a customer's legal rights? (Representative stated that customers do not have any rights once the contract is signed).Failure of Licensee to assess and review loan documents and utilize tools or resources available to analyze customer's file and data in a FAIR or UNIFORM Manner in relation to personal information on file, including customer's transaction history before being able to make a decision of this extreme consequence and implementing new and updated policies that had not been previously used and failure to notify current and long time customers of POLICIES, CHANGES, and UPDATES that would REPLACE or OVERRIDE any PREVIOUS OPERATING PRACTICES in the similar format or review and update past transaction policies that were in place and normal and PROCESSES that were replaced and were no longer in EFFECT.
At the time of this loan transaction I was unaware there had been changes in Management, Staff, Procedures, and Policies at this location. I had always had a positive transaction history and excellent service received. New Management Failed to Accurately Review and Assess Customer's Files in a Good Faith and Honest Format and Failed to Notify previous customers that normal or regular operating and transaction policies for this location or companies policies and routine practices have changed or are no longer in effect.
In early June, a TitleMax representative dropped off a letter. I was at home and I spoke to the representative at the door and told her I did not have the payment yet and was still working on it. She informed me verbally to call the Manager and I did. The Manager was very polite and thanked me for calling and keeping them informed and updated on my situation and plans to remedy missed payment and intentions to honor debt.
I then received a call from TitleMax on 6/17 from a male and he informed me that my 2nd payment was due again soon. I informed the agent of my plan of action to sell another car on Craigslist and catch up on my loan payment and also explained my current struggles to reverse the 11 month undiagnosed depression, that had spiraled out of control and that I had started treatment 4/25 and was feeling better regularly, just not back to normal yet.
7/11/2014, I went to bed that night and was woken up at 12:30 AM by my Sons saying someone was there and was towing the van. I had never informed my husband of this loan or the details of this loan because we were struggling for money and I felt responsible due to my mental illness. The family's current hardships make me sad and anxious because it is my fault. At that point and time I truly believed I had only missed one payment and was surprised and shocked!!! When I opened the door, the van had already been hooked or attached to the tow truck and the driver stated that he needed the keys or he would damage the vehicle by dragging it in park backwards. I told him I was only one payment behind which I believed at the time to be $76.00 which included the past due payment of $54.00, plus daily interest. The driver at the door tried to appease my shock by assuring me that TitleMax did this regularly to MANY people and that it is **.
I told him I was unaware of this practice and I had a long and positive relationship with this same location and had always paid my loans off. I told him we could not be without a vehicle because of the 4 children in the home and this being our only vehicle to get my husband to and from work and I was being treated for depression and had multiple Drs Appts regularly that I was unable to miss. He told me that "they" already drove by and saw the van was here and because he had already hooked the cable to the back bumper we did not have any rights to object or defer the action until the morning when we were able to call the company and pay what was owed.
By that time my husband was at the door objecting to the removal due to he had to be up in a few hours to get to work by 5:00 AM and we did not have any other options or resources on such a short notice. There is not a bus early enough to get to his work. He also informed the driver he was unaware I had the loan out or he would have also made sure the payment had been made. We told him due to our current situation that him towing this vehicle would be extremely financially devastating and because he was currently the only income we had and I was just starting to seek re employment. I started crying because I knew once the van was gone, the amount I already was behind and could not afford would increase somehow and cause a further hardship on my recovery in progress. If I ever remotely thought this type of action was even a possible option, I would have worked or figured whatever out I needed to. I had not heard from TitleMax and assumed they understood I was mentally ill and in process of selling car to bring account current?
The tow truck driver ignored our objections and requests to stop and would not allow us to pay the bill in the morning and said that we would be able to pay them and get it back as soon as the morning. Again he was informing us of the unethical tactics of TitleMax and how they repossess cars for sometimes $50.00 to $100.00 based on 1-2 missed payments. He also stated that there is new Management in charge and the policies have changed and if the Managers do not do their job TitleMax will have them replaced immediately and they will be without a job.
He said, normally he would have just taken the vehicle without knocking on the door but because he did not have the keys, the tow would damage the vehicle because they were not designed to be dragged backwards on the tires. He also said he would let them know at TitleMax that we gave him the keys and that would be a benefit and look good for us and we would have a better chance of getting the vehicle back. I reluctantly gave driver the keys and assumed he was telling the truth and we had no legal right to object.
The next morning I called TitleMax and explained the situation and requested different balances and totals to bring account current. I requested amounts so I could start trying to assess all my available options.
Money Received - $350.00.Amount Past Due if I would have paid 7/10 to bring Current, $122.00.
Total Amount Owed to Pay Off - $472.47.
Repossession Fee - $285.00.
Minimum Amount to Redeem - $561.18 (3 Month Payment + REPO FEE).
Grand Total - $747.00, full Payoff Including REPO FEE.
I spoke to Ryan, the General Manager on 7/14 and explained to him how I had been a customer for 5 years and I was unaware of the situation getting so out of hand due to I was trying to deal with depression since 4/25 and every time I start to get to a point I am functioning, I end up with some sort of crisis that emotionally disrupts my life. I had been a happy customer for years and now I did not feel as though I was a valued customer anymore and wanted to see again what the current balance was so I could look for another loan or borrow money from someone. Ryan was very professional and offered to look at my file and was able to verify the information I had been telling him. Ryan suggested he could submit a settlement offer to corporate and if approved it would be in all of our best interests. If they auctioned the vehicle, they would take a larger loss than if I was able to settle and get the vehicle back. Ryan suggested we put the amount in at $675.00 and he would send it to corporate and they would say Yes or No.
He said if they declined it, as long as we had something figured out by Tuesday 7/22/14, he could work something out if I need more time. He said he would be out the next day and I told him I would follow up in a couple days. I was unable to reach Ryan Wednesday-Friday because he was out with a family emergency. I would call periodically to see if he was back yet and ask about different laws or details on the contract if I had questions about how they were handled or applied in this situation. I was transferred to a call center and a guy who spoke broken English was unable to answer my questions either. I started studying and researched the terms myself. Until now and as of yet, I have still not been able to figure this all out and what laws or statutes actually apply in this situation due to the Settlement Offer Decline in Ryan's absence and Ryan's assurance that if it was not approved he had other options. I spent this last week learning the contract terms and definitions and I am assuming that at some point I may have received incorrect information, or have had my rights breached or violated.
If nothing in this complaint is out of the ordinary I am requesting a formal extension due to I can provide a copy of the 1/2 blank intent to sell letter. If my rights have been breached or violated and I am allowed punitive damages as a credit of interest or repossession fees, I would like to add for the record that my husband missed 7 days of work due to the repossessed vehicle causing $770.00 in damages from missed work.
I have been exposed to unneeded pain and suffering. I have been taking the bus with baby and kids to Dr's Appointments. I am ready to start seeking employment after 14 months of depression and have been learning a lot about the alternative loan products that are offered to low income families who qualify as a hand up to learn about finances and help people escape the 180% interest loans.
I learned that auto title loan companies operating in AZ since the PAYDAY loans were banned, now offer "Personal Loans" and instead of pay stubs they use your direct deposit info from a 30 day transaction history from your bank account and they add a auto title or registration as an added form of securing the loan in case you default on your personal loan.
As of 7/23/2014 when we paid to get the van out and Ryan had never come back to work, we paid $747.00 in order to get the car out. They were ready to sell it at auction and were not notifying us of the sale date or location, and they never reprinted the 1/2 blank "Intent To Sell Property" letter after I notified them of the problem and requested another one that was legible. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE LOAN FROM THEM. SEARCH GOOGLE FOR "WHEELS TO WORK" Programs in your area and avoid the nightmare.
Title Max offers a $50.00 cash bonus if you use their service the same day. They do not honor that ad. The manager at the store location on Cobb parkway lies to you, pretend as if she is calling customer service about the bonus. Her name is **, she really do not contact them. Once you call customer service they make you leave a voice mail. It takes them a week later to call you back and when they call you back they tell you a sales rep tried to call you 6 times when they never try and call you. I submitted the information again last week with a different name and number last week, still no call. To receive the $50.00 bonus it is a fraud, a scam they do not honor the bonus. That's a scam to get you to use them.
I didn't pay, they repoed my car, no big deal. I knew what I was getting into when I did the deal. I paid the loan off and got my car back with all my personal belongings stolen out the vehicle. Am I at fault for them stealing personal belongings? Is this legal? Based on some comments, this happens often.
I received a title loan for 4500.00 from this company January 2013. I was instructed to make payments of 500.00 per month to Title max. The payment receipts I received reflected that my balance was going down, however it was not, as they forged the receipts and i have proof. The end result is I lost my job and filed for bankruptcy 03/17/2014.
I contacted the local office and spoke to Shaniqua who advised me to pay the loan and hung up on me. I called again 06/16/2014 to inquire where my vehicle was and to get my personal belongings. I spoke to Lolita ** who refused to tell me where the vehicle was and she also hung up the line. I called for a third time and they never answered the phone as they were probably screening calls. The initial case was dismissed 06/04/2014 voluntarily and in the process of me re-filing, they repossessed my vehicle 06/13/2014.
I re-filed my case 06/18/2014 (within the 10 day parameters). Now they are refusing to tell my bankruptcy attorney where the vehicle is and will not return his calls or emails. I once again contacted the corporate headquarters in Savannah, GA and my call was not returned either. I then contacted the local store and spoke to Lolita ** and was told this is not my department, then the line disconnected. They are refusing to tell me the location of my vehicle.
Is this something that warrants suit as I am prepared to take the next step. They never sent notice they were coming to repossess the vehicle and took it with all my personal belongings. Now I am protected under Chapter 13 and they refuse to let me know where the vehicle is. I am assuming they are trying to inflate any fees that may have occurred from the repossession by holding onto the vehicle.
It means they will take you for the max they can. Predatory lending. They make it sound fair and it is just about preying on people desperate enough to even consider using them and using the great human ability for denial to believe that it will be paid in full ASAP. They should be shutdown and are disgusting and love how people in financial straights are easily convinced they are the best option when one needs money fast. They are criminals. They are welcome to the car if they can find it and welcome to talk to me if they manage to get in touch. They can go to hell.
After a long and financially catastrophic illness, my girlfriend was nearing the end of her life. Her final wish was to see her two children once again before she died. We were tapped for money and our credit was wiped out, so I went to Title Max in Decatur, Illinois for an $800 loan. I used the money to fly her 22 year old son from Arizona to Illinois and back, thus granting her final wish. I lost her a month later. I had used this company before and had borrowed a smaller amount which I paid back. I had been told by the manager at that time that Title Max had the lowest interest rate of anyone in the business. If that is indeed true, everyone else in the business must be multibillionaires by now.
I have paid this company back well, over double the money I borrowed from them and was told a few days ago by a rep that I would have to come up with another $470+ to pay the loan off. Even if my payment is made on time, I am racking up interest every single day. In a week or two, I intend to pay them off. They've been a monkey on my back long enough. I found a local lender who for a $400 loan will be paid off in 7 payments of approx. $77. Do the math. $538 to repay a $400 loan. Still a little high, but not even in the same ballpark as Title Max. Title Max, you have made your last buck from me, so spend it well.
I went to Titlemax at 11019 Briar Forest Dr Houston, TX 77042. I dealt with a gentleman named Jeremiah, who is the store manager. He gave great customer service and answered all my questions. By the time I left, (about 15 minutes) all my questions were answered to the point where I was trying to think of more questions just to test the guy. I borrowed $4133.00 on my truck and Jeremiah made sure I understood Titlemax's expectations. About 3 months into my loan, I was laid off from my job. Jeremiah called his district manager and lowered my interest rate and made it affordable so my truck wasn't repoed.
What I don't get is people on here complaining about how their vehicle was repoed after not paying. What do you expect? I would bet you people are the type that refused to talk to Titlemax once you knew you couldn't make your payment and then act stunned when they repoed your vehicle. If you go to a pawn shop and pawn your grandma's gold ring and don't make the payment what happens? It goes on the floor for sale! This is the same concept except with a vehicle! There is not one person who wouldn't do the same thing if you were the business owner and if you say otherwise, I call BS! These people do show that they care but there are rules they have to follow in order to keep their jobs!
I was in the store to make my payment a week ago and there was this lady crying that they repoed her car. The general manager explained that Titlemax attempted more than 20 times to call her and even visited her home and left letters on her door before they were forced to order a repo. I work for an auto auction in Houston that sells some of Titlemax's repoed vehicles. These people lose money 95% of the time when a repoed vehicle is auctioned off. They do not want your vehicle! Pay your bill and you won't get repoed, if you can't make your payment you need to talk to them. They will work with you but they are also trained to see through the BS people tell them. Don't lie, be honest and explain your situation! Stop acting like they did you wrong when if fact you are the one that didn't keep your word/agreement.
I am in Virginia and got a title loan on my vehicle that was repo'd. I received a letter stating that the vehicle would be sold on or after a certain date. I had to either pay or could pick up my possessions by that date. I paid the loan off in full, went to pick up my vehicle and hadn't realized until I was pulled over by the police that I never got my title back. The police informed me that my vehicle was showing as sold. When I called Title Max to inquire about my title and the vehicle showing up as sold, she tells me that they had titled the vehicle over to themselves because they weren't informed that I wanted to get the vehicle back.
Keep in mind I paid the loan off well ahead of the time they said I had to purchase it back. So I have been driving around on tags that were no longer registered to the vehicle because according to DMV the vehicle no longer belongs to me but now I have to go through the entire DMV process to tag and title my vehicle as if I just got it. I want to know is there anyway I can hold Title Max responsible for these fees?
TitleMax had my car towed for missed payments. My car was sent to an auction. I had 10 days to pay. Paid in 8. Picked up my car. Car had a brand new Kenwood sub and a Memphis amp that was taken. They also took my brand new Klein wrenches, a digital camera, a tactical flash light and $8 in quarters. They took about $500 worth of my property. TitleMax in Phoenix, AZ. The one on I-17 and Bethany Home Rd.
My new loan is with Instaloan, and they are owned by Title Max. I defaulted on my original loan with Title Max in 2009. They then confiscated my Toyota Camry. The loan was written off. In 2013, I began looking for a personal loan and contacted Instaloan, not realizing they are owned by a Title Max. Instaloan discovered all of my new information, and forced me to come to their office by using the threat of contacting the courts, and so set up a new loan. They set up the new loan as a first lien or title loan, even though I don't have clear title to my current car. I defaulted on the new loan, and they have threatened to take it.
When I got my loan through TitleMax in 2012 I was very doubtful, but everything went fine and I was able to make payments on my loan. Then one day I got a go from TitleMax telling me that they are able to increase my loan and I thought about it and went through with the proceeding. Then I got behind on the payments and they told me all along that they don't want the car or that will take months for them to get possession of the car which was bull.
One month later they came and got my vehicle and wanted me to turn over my keys to them and I told them to be polite… "But no, but HELL No", but I did get my car back after trying to file for bankruptcy but then I was not able to make the payments and once again the car was taken from me. I got told by the district manager that I can call around to other title companies and have them buy out the loan. So I did and everyone told me the same answer that they would have to see the car which I knew. I called the district manager back and he basically said "Oh well... I guess you are out of luck."
All I can say is don't do it unless you want called four times a day. This is what I did. I went to a credit union and had them buy my loan out for 4% int. instead of 297%. Please don't do it.
They took my truck, and told me I was six days late. Then I told them I had paid my loan off two weeks ago. Which was two weeks after I received my loan. That's when they hung up on me and every time I called back, they would give me the "you're late six days." Finally after I had talked to all the people there, this lady took the phone from the lady I was talking to and said, "We don't have your truck and we are not responsible for what our contract wreckers do." What did that mean exactly. Needless to say, I have not received my title or my truck and they refuse to tell me where they tow them to, so I can go see for myself. Why won't they give me my title if they don't have my truck? They got to where they just hang up on me every time I call. What do you think about that company guy. I borrowed $1000.00. Paid it off two weeks later for $1289.52. Then they stole my truck and $3000.00 worth of my tools that were in my truck. Now they won't give me my title and told me to stop calling. That's what you get when you pay on time. Isn't that right, company guy.
Do not do business with this company. They have horrible business practices and do not accept when they make mistakes.
In July of 2012, I went to Title Max to get a loan. I borrowed $3000.00, they added a fee of $18.00 so total $3018.00. I made my payments according to the schedule they gave me from August 2012 till November 2012. Total payments equaled $4800.00. In December, I called to get the payoff amount and was told it would be $3457.94. It was as if I never paid a dime. I made several calls during the year to ask if they would lower the interest rate and they told me they could not do that, even though I told them that I had lost work and my ex-husband had lost his job so I no longer was receiving child support or alimony. In December when I could not make the full payments, just partial ones, they called me everyday and called the references I had given them in the beginning and harassed them.
They were rude and insulting to them and told them my personal business. Even though I kept in touch with them, they continued to call my references to discuss my personal business. In January, I told them that I would try to sell my car to get the money to pay them and try to get me another car; in spite of this, they came and picked up my car. I was left with no way to get to work or get around. This was the worst mistake of my life, I learnt a very hard lesson. I urge people not to do this. I should have called my creditors and worked out something with them. They would not have charged me that outrageous interest rate. I was never going to get out of it. They take advantage of people in desperate financial situations. Stay away from title pawns. They got my money and my car.
Wow is all I can say after reading all of these other comments. Thank goodness I actually took the time to read the contract and that the sales rep that I dealt with was very informative! I will call her Maggie for this. When I arrived Maggie was the only person in the store and was able to sit with us (my husband and myself) who were both apprehensive about doing the loan in the first place but personal circumstances dictated that we NEEDED $700 to put down and secure a new apartment, and once we got the deposit back from our old place we would be paying it back in full.
Maggie was very polite through the 20 (or so) minute process. When we gave her our references, told us that she was going to call them and verify that they were correct. She did this in front of us, simply saying that "Samantha has used you as a personal reference; can you verify your relationship to her?" Then she asked each one a different question like "What's the best way to get in contact with her?”, “Do you know where she is currently employed?”, and “How often do you speak with Sam?" She told us that she would not say where she was calling from and if they (our references) needed to speak with us, she would hand over the phone.
After she verified the references Maggie explained that the loan payment date was just that, the payment date. The company pays her to give and collect loans and she does not like calling references, so please pay on time and early if possible. She also explained that even though she does not like to make these calls, she will because it’s her job, which is more important to her than not having a job and the company is there to make money... They do not care what your circumstances are or why your bill is late. If you get a flat tire, or you couldn't work because of the weather, or your granny died... They don't care. You took a loan and it’s due when it’s due. You can’t go to Food Lion or Wal-Mart and walk out without paying "because your granny died" or "you had a flat tire".
Maggie was VERY, VERY diligent in making sure we understood what we were getting into. As it turned out we were able to borrow almost twice what we needed. Maggie explained that if we took the $700 what our payments would be, then she explained what they would be if we took the $1400. Of course we didn't want the whole $1400 and Maggie really went out of the way to push. "Do not take more than you can afford to pay back. You (we) are selling us (TM) your car for however much you choose to take and we are selling it back to you at our price. If you pawn your wedding band for $100 would you pay $200 to get it back? Think about your car the same way."
As it turned out we took $900, and the contract said that IF we made monthly payments on time every month for 12 months it would cost almost $1300 to pay back. Apparently if you pay ON TIME then a certain percentage goes to interest and the rest to the principal. And if you are ONE DAY LATE not only do the collection calls start, but at that point 100% of that month’s payment goes to interest, leaving none to the principal. And you’re basically SOL for that payment.
We made our first payment of $100, the following week when I got my next pay check, then another $100 when my husband got his check the next week. We skipped the third week, and paid another $100 the fourth week. We did this for pay two, skip one until we got our deposit back from our old landlord almost two months later. All in all we ended up paying $1030 and some change. One of Maggie's co-workers took our final payment and signed over our title to us right then and there.
I think that if you need a loan, and you think the people are being coy or not giving you all the information you need, you find another provider. But don't think playing the victim will get you anywhere with these companies. The people in the store are doing their jobs. Some maybe (per my experience with Maggie) much better than others and no one has forced anyone to go and get loans in the first place... Think before you act.
Title Max Naperville Il Ogden ave - Wow I went to this establishment, and when the GM MR Ila ** got flustered with my question's about the class action suit in Texas, he was extremely rude and unprofessional. It was quite easy to dazzle him with my vernacular gymnastics, so much so that when I proceeded to leave he ran out and took a picture of my license plate, saying that he was going to call the police, and I was going to jail! Needless to say when the police showed up they apologized for the inconvenience and sent me on my way. What a pack of thieves and liars. Do yourself a favor, no matter how much you need $ Run for z Hills!!!
I went for a loan and always pay on time or early and always pay more than the monthly due. Unfortunately I fell on hard times and had to take time off work after my car breaking down and health issues. I still have child support and luckily family to financially help, but they are all out of state. I'm here on my own with my two children going to school full time and explained to Title Max my situation. They explained they were not in the "car repossession business" and as long as I kept in contact and paid what I could they would work with me. I explained I would simply have to miss one month (November 2013) and would be in the next to catch up my ONE month missed plus current month (December 2013) split into 2 payments that week.
The next day the tow truck was here at 1:30 in the morning to pick up my broke down car! I called to find out what they wanted to get it back? They want the entire loan paid in 10 days or they are selling my car... Then got a hold of someone willing to work with me but they still want $1,000 in 7 days?!? That's 3 payments and repo fees :( and it doesn't even run! Even a bank waits 30 days and sends a letter as I missed one month, made arrangements with them and still lost my car without notice... This can't be legal. I'm looking into a lawyer. Anyone interested in a class action law suit?
I have been a customer for over 7 years and I've been going through surgery, sprained ankle, domestic assault, divorce pending and because I can't pay one month, they are going to threaten to repossess my car. Ha! I have too many friends for that to happen. You will get your money on the 20th like promised. Thanks for being loan sharks - acting like you care when you don't.
Title Max is starting to piss me off. They have come to my house twice. Payment was due on the 27th of Nov. I'm a trucker and I didn't get home in time enough on the 27th to make it to the bank so that Friday Title Max sends one of their office employees to my home as if they were going to whip my ** so I tell them I can't get in my bank till Monday. Well Sunday, my daughter gets sick and has to be rushed to a hospital two hours away so on Thursday, my mother-in-law calls me and tells me that Title Max came back to the house. So I call them to let them know that I am still at the hospital with my daughter and they want to call the hospital so they do and call me back and tell me I'm telling a lie. So I call my lawyer and Title Max will be hearing from him for harassment. Title Max, I hope you guys read this because coming to my house and calling me a lie was so uncalled for.
After my car was impounded, it was immediately taken over by Title Max. At that point, I had only deferred one payment in over a year and that was only for 2 weeks. Title Max turned my car over to an auction and when I received a letter from the auction (about items left in the car), I called Title Max to see when it was sold to the auction and the status of my account. The customer service rep at Title Max told me (after a hold of about 6 seconds) that, "Oh, it was sold and you don't know anything." So, I asked whether I would get anything back, and she told me no. I told her that Title Max is supposed to give its customers whatever is left over after the sale of the vehicle and the settlement of the account.
She transferred me to the manager who informed me that "state law does not require Title Max to give anything leftover from the sale of my vehicle back to me once the account is settled. I asked her did Title Max policies vary from location to location since a relative of mine was told the exact opposite and actually received every cent leftover after her car was sold by Title Max and her account paid off. She finally told me it is Title Max's policy (by choice) to give monies left over from the sale and account settlement to the customer. Question #1: Why can't all of Title Max employees and locations be on the SAME PAGE? Question #2: Shouldn't Title Max be the recipient of a class action lawsuit by now-considering the mistreatment of its customers?
If you want to take your car title to a company that act like loan sharks that would possibly break your legs, take it to this place in Fayetteville. We pawned our car title in Newnan, Georgia three times. Always a courteous crew who tried to help you if you were in a bind at Title Max. We always paid the loan back in full when we got our taxes back. The crew in Fayetteville don't see things the same. They are always going to get their money. Quit tripping people.
We were a day late when the phone calls started happening. We have recently gotten custody of our three stepdaughters as their mom vanished two years ago to a life of men and drugs. She lives at the beach and she is having a great life or so she says on Facebook. Yeah, I snooped, but oh well, just can't understand a mother (which she isn't) walking away from their children and never calling, not on birthdays, Christmas, nothing. Not even a simple Happy Birthday on Facebook yet she can tell everyone else... Anyway, this post isn't about that. That's a whole other soap box. Okay, so we take out this loan, stupid as hell on our part...
My husband gets paid this Tuesday. I tell them we are coming to pay. Last Thursday, well just so happens, he got a flat tire and had to call in. The job was supposed to be done and he would have gotten paid Thursday. Well, he had to call out Thursday, because he has low profile tires and they were hard as he** to find at a used tire shop. We finally found one 40 miles away, and after several incidents, we were good to go. Then we come home. Well, he does HVAC work and just got his first job since being laid off and starting his own company. He was to get paid when the job was finished. Granted we owe every bit of it out. Well, anyway, Friday it rained, and the units are outside, so he could not go that day.
Now, last night, we have been hiding it in the woods and a tow truck has not been here since the first one did, a week ago. Well sure enough about 3am, in pulls a red wrecker. I went out there and talked to the man. He let us get all of our stuff out. However, I am wondering if I could not have just told him no, he could not have the car, since it was not on the roll back. Matter fact because of the way my husband's truck is, it is a low rider with air bags, if I could have just told them to leave since they are on private property?

Title Max took my car when I was only 16 days late. Policy states 2 days. I expect nothing but professionalism when I signed their agreement. Title max in Moncks Corner in SC was under investigation due to fraudulent titles. The manager that handled my loan, **, was just arrested and is serving time. She and five others were caught. I received a surplus check from the company for an amount from ** and signed by her. Now I know we cannot trust this company with the data they have. I’m sure it has been altered in some way or fashion. I expect they are still lying about my record there.
I have also incurred charges from the DMV because a year later she had not turned my plates in. I went to the company and they found a bag in a corner of the room with the plates in the bag, along with items I didn’t recognize. Which told me someone had been driving my car. If this email seems like it’s jumping around. I am having difficulty on your website via email. Please contact me regarding this matter. I have contacted BBB and they said you could utilize my emails back and forth with them. They referred me to you. Thank you.
1 year and 2 months ago I fell upon hard times and needed fast cash and a title loan was my best option. I knew that all title loans are designed to work against the person in need so I carefully looked over every title loan company percentages of interest to principal ratio. Upon looking at TitleMax's info I was surprised to see that the contract stated that after 1 year you no longer paid interest, all payments went toward the principal! So I thought although I hope it doesn't go that long, there is light at the end of this tunnel.
Now here is their trick. Each payment generates a volume of paper for your records. You assume all papers are copies of the original forms. The original contract is the only stack of papers that refer to the 1 year deal. So if you assume they all state the same and decide to forgo keeping the first large batch of papers (because you have to sign a new contract with each payment and each payment generates a large sheaf of papers), you now have no proof of that little clause in the original contract. That's their hook. I have heard of other clients bamboozled this way, so I do think they are the best to use. But read your first contract and don't replace it with later copies which you think are exact copies, because they are not.
My husband and I took out a 1,600 dollar loan to pay some bills. We unfortunately had no other choice at the time. We made a payment every month on time of 220 dollars. Seemed a little high to me but what else could we do but pay it. A year into the loan, we still owed $1,250.00. Finally it got to be too much, we could no longer make these payments and continue to pay our other bills. I made a deal with my brother to buy the car for the amount we still owed. I talked to Title Max and they said anyone can call in and make a payment on your account. I verified with them that all they could do was take a payment, nothing more. They can't discuss our loan, they can't give any information, nothing.
My brother calls to make the payment and the manager proceeds to tell him all of my loan information. Then she goes on to tell him how my husband and I are screwing him in this deal and he should back out now before it's too late. My brother calls me and he's mad and yelling and telling me all this stuff that they told him. None of it was true. What they could possibly get out of blocking the sale is beyond me. They were getting their money.
I call them and their response to me was "Oops, it was a mistake to give your information out but your payment is due today. How would you like to pay?" My response was a big fat ** YOU and told them I was not paying another penny on this car nor would they repossess. They voided out the contract when they violated my privacy. Needless to say that did not go over well so they had the general manager contact me. It took me two weeks to get them to admit to being in the wrong and the only thing I got out of this deal was a 600-dollar credit to my account and that was only after I threatened a lawsuit. In the end my brother paid off the car and he got the title. The manager of the store was fired to shut me up.
This is a horrible company. They have no problems violating people's privacy. They call your references and tell them exactly who they are and what they are calling for. They charge horrible interest rates and they explain their actions with an oops. I would highly recommend going bankrupt before taking a loan with these people.
I got a title loan from Title Max for 500.00 in May of this year. I paid 100.00 4 times, 3 more payment of 80.00. Why do I have a balance of 504.03? I paid 640.00 already. Title Max is scamming the consumers. It will be next year, this loan is paid off. Title Max has very high interest rates. Something should be done about those very high interest rates. I’m calling for a boycott for all of the Title Max nationwide; unfair to the consumers.
Can anything be done if someone puts your name in for a reference and didn't bother to tell you? My nephew got a loan and put my daughter's name down for contact (without her permission). The car has broken down and it's shot. He still owes money on it, has told them where to go get the car and they continue to call my daughter...
HELP.
I'd received a title loan from this company. I was paying so far in advance that I had no worries. After a few months, I wanted to renew my loan. So I renewed my loan, then asked about the one month in advance payment that has already been credited to my old loan. I was told, "The money that was paid in advance does not count towards renewal of the new loan." So now my question is, "Do I get that money back, or will it be applied to the new loan?" The answer to my question was, "Negative, Ms. There will be no money applied or reimbursed." I said, "Thank you, and we're done."
My incident happened in Baytown, TX. Went in for a $1000.00 loan. Things have been rough this year, I live off of Social Security income. I had to take custody of my 3 adorable grandchildren. So money has been really tight. The manager said I qualified for the "MAX" amount that being $5000.00. Therefore, I was thinking I would pay off my credit cards, and be debt free. Put the kids in summer camp, YMCA, and other resources that would benefit the children. This being at a 10.74% interest rate.
WOW, At first payment, to my surprise, all I was doing was "paying the interest." I owed more monies than I had borrowed!!!!! I had never been to a "loan shark" before to borrow money. I had to get a loan, from a bank, get my mother to co-sign due to the fact I owe more than I make... Well, most of us have been there.... Just, do yourself a favor... NEVER, EVER, NEVER go to Title Max. Unless you plan to lose your vehicle before-hand. They have got to be the worst, just classified as a "Loan Shark" in my opinion. At first, they were nice, but come first payment, even the attitude and customer service is totally reversed. To the gentleman who sent in a complaint about being terminated from Title Max. Count that as being a blessing. Even though I am sure they ripped you off, at least you're not part of that team anymore.
Went to Title Max, got 820 dollars. I was 30 days late due to death in family. I went in to talk to them. They gave me a week to pay. Went to pay the week I was supposed to pay. Wife got into a car accident, went to hospital. I was 32 days late. They repo my car. They said they sent me certified letter to go into the 90-day agreement payment. Never received it. Kept telling me he sent certified letter. How can I receive a certified letter without signature and them not getting proof? They get a copy submitted by post office saying I signed for letter. Well guess what? They don't have one so they breached the contract. Now my car is going to auction company. TitleMax are scammers, liars. I've got 4 kids and my vehicle is gone. Now what? We as customers should have some rights in this situation.
My loan with Title Max was due on July 1, 2013 but due to medical expenses that came up for a family member that I'm responsible for with breast cancer, I was not able to make the due date. I contacted the manager at the branch first by phone and later came in to set up an arrangement and at that time submitted documents to prove the expense issue. The manager made copies of the documents and also took a photo of my license and stated it was needed to support the arrangement. I sat down with the manager, we set up the arrangement date and was told that as long as the date is kept there would not be an issue.
Four days later and before the arrangement date, a towing company shows up at my residence and proceeds to pick up the car, when I asked what was going on since no one had called, emailed, text or otherwise communicated to me from Title Max that there was a problem. The driver stated that they had orders to pick up this vehicle from Title Max. I then called Title Max and they stated the manager you spoke with is not in and no one else has any information on your case, try calling tomorrow he should be in. In addition they have added towing, storage, handling and late fees to the original amount. This not a new account and was current up to the July payment and on the record since May of 2012.
I have taken a loan on my car title not realizing I am dealing with one of the worst company that ever existed. They charge 150% interest p/a and if you are late one day, they start calling you like crazy and they repossess your car if you are 10 days late. And, on top of that, they send gangsters to your house to scare you. Please anyone, don't deal with this company. You'll be sorry.
This situation I put myself into, but for all else... do not get involved with Title Max or any other title loan company. All they want is to give you money - take the interest payment and feed on the desperate and someone having a bad luck situation. We were given the top dollar amount for our car due to my husband being in almost grave condition in the hospital... I was grateful at the time. But after months of not having that top dollar amount, I pretty much just tore up the cash I would give them each month since it does not go to the principal unless you pay more than the interest payment, which is an outrageous amount.
When I pretty much had to have no choice but to trade the vehicle in to get rid of the payment, then they added all the interest payments against the amount loaned. So it was hard to even trade my vehicle in and get the same amount of money they loaned. Just a warning - unless you know for sure you are going to pay off the loan the next month, find another way to at least be paying towards the vehicle each month and not just throwing money away.
Employee named Teresa @ store#12672 Broad River Rd. This employee waited until I paid my account off and decided to approach me out in the parking lot to ask me what problem I had with her. She is very unprofessional and when she calls you, she thinks you owe her forty acres and a mule, yelling in your phone, demanding your call. She needs to go to customer service one-on-one class. All this happened after I was in my car!
I took out the TitleMax as an emergency to pay my rent. I regret taking the TitleMax out because it’s been a year, and I paid more than the minimum balance every month for a year and owe $2,000 when my loan was only $1,500. The manager told me I would benefit by paying month to month because it would increase my credit, but in actuality, all it did was increase my interest. I certainly regret this. I rather preferred committing a crime (just kidding). But seriously, when I do call to make a payment, the phone is off all day so I get a late fee even though they’re not picking up their phone. Don’t use a TitleMax pawn unless it’s your LAST OPTION and intend to pay it off within the next month.
I was employed by this company for 4.5 years as a general manager during which I performed all requirements of my employment well over and above, attaining many company awards for top performance, etc. When it suited their program, they terminated me. This is a right to work state so even though I have never had any violations or performance issues, I understand their right to do this (I have read many other complaints which indicate this is normal company practice). My complaint is unpaid wages. I was paid a base salary + monthly performance bonus. My salary represented less than 50% of income and barely covered my expenses. I was required to use my own vehicle (600 miles per week) and purchase supplies for marketing out-of-own-pocket. I was formally instructed by two of my direct supervisors not to try and claim this expense as it would hurt my chance of keeping my job.
On termination, I was only paid base salary, no bonus. I was let go on the 10th April and was owed a bonus for March ($3500). The company is refusing to pay this or pay the 82.5 hrs pto accrued "per co. policy". I do not believe a company can legally not pay monies owed which have been legitimately earned. The labor board informed me this is something I must pursue through the courts as a bonus is considered a benefit, not a wage. This company has fired 7 GMs in my district (only 11 GMs in district) in the last 6 months, all timed in the same way as to avoid paying money earned by these people.
It is very peculiar that my termination was performance-based; however, I was by far the highest performing office in the district consistently for over four years and the money they are withholding is my performance bonus for the previous month. If there is an attorney out there that thinks I have a leg to stand on, I would appreciate some advice. This company has over $850,000,000 on loan right now at a min. of 120% APR, in some cases 300% and operates the most deplorable business/employee practices which at best are at direct conflict to labor laws and frankly illegal in my opinion. A quick review of job review sites will show my experience is definitely not isolated and is the "norm". If anyone has a suggestion, it would be greatly appreciated.
I have had a title loan for quite some time. I pay it every month. On time, mostly, but as the money I borrowed has been repaid and it is all interest now, I really resent the fact that someone called my banking officer and told them who they were. My banker said, "She has a title loan?" The agent said, "No, she applied for a job here." Not so, and my banker knows me and that I am disabled. The incessant harassing calls are annoying. No one is going to let their car be repossessed unless they have to. The manager Craig told me that was not going to happen again as I was so angry and there was no need for it. Today I got the first call from Matt. My payment, a term I question, was due the day before yesterday. He said I do not have 10 days to pay with a small interest added on top before I have to pay a huge penalty, which I have in the past paid (which I might add, no complaint). So when did this change?
The thing is that the huge payment you are penalized with does not go to Title Max. It goes to their lender, henceforth the harassing phone calls. I am almost 69. It's clearly easier to attack an old woman who is disabled than a big hulking man who may lay and wait for you certainly, but less than 48 hours is unreasonable. To all those who say pay your bills on time, my loan has been repaid. I am now paying the racketeering fees. There is a possibility that this company could get $33k from me should I live that long or the car live that long for a $1,000 loan. Something needs to be done to prevent these people from being able to racketeer. After they have claimed 200% over the loan that was made, that should end the whole thing. But to have to renew the loan every month, you know there is no end.
I used Title Max because I needed a short-term loan to pay my rent and monthly expenses. I borrowed $1615 and paid it off in 30 days. My payoff amount was $1808, which wasn't bad to me at a $193 finance charge. If I had taken two years to pay, I would have ended up paying over $5,000 for a $1600 loan. I was aware of this when I took out the loan that's why I made sure I paid it off in 30 days. If you do not have the means to pay off the loan quickly, do not do this. It’s not worth losing your vehicle over. I had a pleasant experience only because I had an emergency situation and had means to pay it off quickly. I would never use them as a long-term lender though. It is easy to get the money you need quickly, but it can definitely take advantage of people who are desperate for money and do not have the means to pay off the whole amount quickly.
I admit I have not been timely on the payments (I got released from my job of 12 years right after taking the loan but still get SSI every month). I am and have made all attempts to make this a successful business transaction. I misunderstood payment dates as well as a few other things. I get called every day, harassed to the point my doctor put me on meds. I am a single mom of a disabled (blind) 4-year-old and need my old car. It is a 1990 Toyota. I will be making payment any day now, I thought today, but did not know my SSI needed a review today. So tomorrow I will do a review and make payment as well as have an insurance pay out coming in the next few days to pay this loan in full.
I was not surprised I was not believed but, at the same time, Customer Service could give me a full 30 days delinquent before harassment terms were invoked. They are demeaning and trusting and surprise me. I do not and cannot lose my car. I have a special needs child who needs medical help continuously. I can't even talk to them any more. I need a mediator to successfully conclude this deal and was told off, hung up on by instant chat now, a person named "Julie" and no help in commencing a successful business deal.
Why are you all in business if you do not understand bad things happen to good people? If I get through this, I will never take out a loan from such a place and I will wait on my divorce and bankruptcy to go through and do business the old-fashioned way with a bank.
