Title Max or EZ Loan Look-Up East Dundee, IL - I e-mailed this place as I have a need for a loan. I saw in their ad that "the lender would come to you". My car is garage stored; it runs but needs work. I cannot drive it to their place of business. The representative told me I had to bring the car in. I had explained that I couldn't drive it, but that their ad said "lender would come to you". They wouldn't.
Early this month I was taken to the hospital by ambulance because I was bleeding internally. Fortunately they were able to save my life but not before TitleMax repossessed my car for being $100 late for 13 days. Not just any car, my pristine 1984 Pontiac Fiero Indy Pace car. I doubt I'll ever get it back because they will tax on charges that will make it impossible for me, a disabled war vet, to ever get my car back. Save yourself the grief and aggravation and avoid them. Their excuse was "we couldn't get a hold of you by phone". Of course not, I'm clinging on to life at the hospital. Did they ever think to send me something in the mail? I think this should be illegal. I know in my heart it is wrong, very wrong.
My husband and I fell on hard times. 9 children, 2 chronically ill, 3 in college and all on one income. We had to get a title loan. We heard so many horror stories and tried everything to avoid it but to no avail. We fell behind in our payments, we stayed in contact. We made a arrangement for this past Friday (which we kept) and a payment this coming Friday (which had not yet passed), this would have bought us current. To my shock, I seen them taking my car this morning. I was beside myself. It was at 8am and the place didn't open till 10.
Needless to say, all that I had read and heard started to flood my mind. At 9:45 I called the company. Upset and preparing for the worst. Well... what I got was an apology, told that it was an oversight in their part and not only didn't they demand any money... they actually brought my car back to me. Yes, you read correctly, they personally returned it! I had to write this because I know how quickly we write to make complaints but lack that same zeal when it comes to praise. Consider this "One for the Gipper." It would be a absolute shame not to have let everyone know the good as well. Thank you.
I went into TitleMax loan and got a loan on my custom Harley. I was told a payment would be due Oct 22. Well my bike was ripped off on Oct 9th. Now they want me to pay the fees towing and everything else. A 1,000 loan on a 2004 custom Harley worth 20,000. I see why they would. Someone will pay dearly for this.
Huge ripoff. Picked up my daughter's car on a $600 loan and I loaned her the money to get it back and it was $1,275. Part was $600 to the Can Academy for towing and with only two days there. They ruined the Title and didn't send it back for 3 days and by the Title being ruined she could not get a loan to give my money back so they screwed me and were very disrespectful. They got double the money and basically pushed us out the door. Don't fool with these guys.

I received 2 emails from a ** giving me a docket number, telling me that I would be served paperwork, & that charges will be pressed against me. Googled them -- a title loan co. Apparently they take people's cars. Never had a title loan. Still making payments on my car.
Almost 3 years ago I went into a TitleMax to look into getting a loan. I went in. They looked at my car, took pictures, looked at my title and started to fill out the paperwork. As the person explained to me the interest rates and everything I decided not to get the loan. Well yesterday I came home from a family emergency and my car was not in my driveway, called the police and was told it was repossessed. I called TitleMax this morning and they said I owed $1100 for a loan I took out 3 years ago. Umm excuse me I didn't take any loan. I have the title to my car in my possession so how the heck are they telling me they have my title. To make things worse I have been trying to get a hold of corporate and they keep giving me the runaround saying someone will call back and no one has. So I have missed a day of work and my child missed school today. This place needs investigated and shut down.
I wish I would have looked up their reviews to this scam of the place! I was in between jobs my child's birthday came up and I needed the money for my power and his birthday, I'm a single mother with a full-time job & was having hard times like everybody else making a review for this place. My car is worth $10,000 and I borrowed $1,500 dollars from them 6 months ago. I am charged $250 a month and $50 a day "they never tell you about in the beginning" for being late. Just like everybody else on here I figured my car should have been paid off by now so I walk in the store to get my principal & pay for the month thinking that was probably going to be my last payment to find out I still owe them $1,500??? So for the last 6 months my $250 plus the few times I was late they charge me $50 a day all that money went to them!
I understand charging a fee are making a reasonable interest rate but what they're doing is downright Savage. I doubt that the owner even gives a ** or ever reads these reviews but I really hope he/she one day does and knows that they will have to answer for all this one day! If their life's not already miserable from Karma. I've used other title loan companies and never has it been this bad where nothing goes to the principal or they do 90 days no interest. And when I walked in there and seeing that I still owed $1,500 of course I paid my $250. I got a receipt back that said I now owed $1,250 but 15 minutes later I got a text message saying that I owed 1,500 to get my title back. So they make you believe your money is going towards the principal when you pay them but when you leave it's really just a fee and they somehow always seem to "justify it".
I wish I could go tell them to ** themselves but then again "they have my title" last month I paid $300. I was 1 day late so I owed $250 plus $50 for one day late fee. I didn't get a message until a couple weeks later saying my car is on the tow list because I owe them $2.38. Yes that's right "TWO DOLLARS & THIRTY-EIGHT CENT" for the previous month which makes me 1 month behind. I called and ask the girl from the Mobile, AL store (no names until I get my title back???). "Why do I owe $2.38 & why didn't you let me know when I paid" and she said "It was taxes!!!" If they'd had my right address they would have done towed my car even though I pay every month even if it's a couple days late but you can believe I'll be paying that bad boy off when I get my next check.
Bottom line is there's NO WAY to get your title back unless you pay the ENTIRE amount that you borrowed all at one time. What's ** is that if you are in the situation where you have to borrow that amount of money? The chances of you accumulating that much again on your own is impossible. You would have to put back some money each month, which is also impossible to do if you owe them each month too. There's no payment plan! There's none of that. In order to get my car back I would have to walk in there with $1,500 and hand it to her as long as I'm going in there with $250 a month the principal will stay the same.
There's other title loan companies that treat you better and charge you a moral price. So if you can't get the entire amount then try to go to another Title Company "a legit & moral one" (trust me there are few good ones) and make sure you ask all the guidelines and Maybe even have a lawyer present & then go get your title back from the HELL of a place TITLE MAX!!! Oh & FYI if there are any good reviews on here notice how they name names and locations! Because they are employers reviewing themselves. Trust me!
Make no mistake. This loan is designed to repossess your vehicle. Granted you know the terms going in, people go here in dire straits, not knowing they just lost what little they had. They justify by saying emergency cash, all payments go to TitleMax, nothing to principle which has to be illegal. You are basically selling them your vehicle for pennies on the dollar, then any payments you make they get that and your vehicle.
Shame on this company, GREED at its finest. They pray on people that are in dire straits, and make their life even worse. This HAS TO BE ILLEGAL. TAKE WHAT LITTLE DIGNITY they have left and put them walking. Ya get a mere smidge of the value of your vehicle. Take a few payments and first time even one day late snatch what ya have left. Hope their owner rots in hell!! Should be on American greed, another idea someone thought of to totally steal, rob and degrade someone already at a low point in their life, and I'm sure sleeps well at life in his mansion off the blood money of poor hardworking Americans. Shame on YOU, every dog has his day!! KARMA is good. You have a debt to pay my friend, I hope it's slow and extremely painful.
I was in an terrible CAR accident on MAY 31, 2016. WAS unable to get to store. TALK TO store NUMEROUS times. They said they understood. Made arrangements to provide them with accident report. Talk to them on Saturday July 9, 2016. Asked them to give me until the end of the upcoming week and they agreed on Monday. The repo people came into my locked gate and took my vehicle THEN closed it back. I have a private property, no trespassing signs on my gate. They still entered. I had valuable items in my vehicle. I was told there was nothing of value in there. VERY, VERY UPSET ABOUT THIS.
This is the Athens TN store. This place is awful with customer services. The manager Jamie when working with him he does not keep notes. My husband spoke to him in July around the 9th. My bank messed up sending my money so we sent it Western Union. My husband called and talked to Jamie, told him we were sending $800 July and August payment gateway.
Got a text saying I was due so I called. Told him we sent two payments and my husband had spoke to him and told him this! His remark "I haven't spoken to your husband." Lol my husband gets on the phone, tells Jamie "You're on speaker and yes, we did talk twice. 1st time he was supposed to give the tracking number to one of the ladies and the second was when I called you because you all were blowing my phone up." He had to give the tracking number again. Will keep updating on how this turns out but these people are not right.
So I took out a loan from TitleMax, not knowing the huge scam that they are. For the record let me mention that I took the loan out of the Modesto branch on Oakdale Rd in California. Wow I didn't know what I was getting myself into. I borrowed $4,000.00 with a payment of 407 a month. After making 3 payments totaling $1,221 I like to be careful with my stuff, so I asked the guy at this location after making a payment of $410.00. I asked if he can give me my principal balance. He said "Yeah give me just a sec. I have to apply your payment." He told me "If you were to pay off your loan today your balance is 4,060.00." I was in total shock, so I was asking where has my money gone. I already paid you guys over $1200 dollars."
So he tells me "Wait a second while I review your account." So he comes back with a bunch of bogus numbers that don't add up so I told myself "I'm done with you guys. I'm calling your corporate office." So corporate tells me "Wait for a call from Charlie. He's the regional manager." So I'm still waiting for this Charlie guy. So for you guys out there try to avoid this company. They're a huge scam and should be shut down. They been in my town for a couple of months and we already want them gone. I wish somebody would of warn me now. I'm stuck dealing with this scam.
I would like to set the record straight, I recently got a loan at TitleMax in Decatur, Ga. and as soon as I opened the account I fell into some really hard times. I mean I was out of work and all that. So I read all the reviews and began to get so afraid that I would end up losing my vehicle. So I call them, they called me for weeks, but I stayed in touch with them. Time went by. I was able to walk right in and make a payment, I'm mean really late but it was not too much. The customer service is super great in Decatur. I can't speak for anyone else, but Dan, the manager made my family feel right at home. I love the staff!! I'm saying if you stay in communication and try to keep your word then you'll have a great experience like me!
It seems like I paid off my title loan and still want money. I just want my title. They didn't send me a text message for a reminder. It seems that I paid over 1000.00 dollars. Just give my title back because I know for a fact that I paid it off.
The Mt Pleasant TX office is a joke. I took out a loan with this company and was mislead. Never once was I explained to on how much interest I will be paying back. I have been paying these people 450.00 a month for a year and a half. My loan is still at 4000.00... Nothing has came off of my principal. I asked for a two-day extension. They want to charge me another 200.00. These people are very misleading. It is just a paycheck to them. Something needs to be done with them.
Please be very careful and DO NOT borrow from this company. I have not been late and they have not tried to take my car but the experience with them has been horrible. They were very nice when I spent over a hour in their office applying. But as soon as I signed the dotted line everything changed, and they have been horrible since. After you sign they send in " The Closer" as I call it. That is the person that then starts telling you firmly that you had better not even be 1 day late. And that a phone call is NO excuse. If there is a problem you had better show up in the office in person. I figure that is so they can take your car right on the spot.
I work on the road and I have to Western Union them the payments. I was never told I had to call in the Western Union number each time I made a payment. But yet they swear they told me. I usually pay in advance of the payment date but I still get texts saying I owe the payment. When you do call them even about this they treat you horribly. This has been the worst experience of my life dealing with them and please advise everyone you can to go another route. I swear this company is like dealing with the mob who you just borrowed money from.
I called with my loan payment and they told me I had to pay 2 payments at a time. They have switched my date for the bill so next month I'm taking him $200 in pennies and I'ma make him take it. They want to mess with the normal people. What's what normal people do to them? I don't know how they sleep at night. I don't know how they can look people in the eyes. This place should be shut down and out of business and that's my goal.
They gave out a loan without my consent being the owner of the vehicle, didn't verify The Title or Employment. They have already recover the vehicle and sold it.
I am so frustrated with this company. I was given several red flags by their own employee. When I first tried to get a title loan the young lady didn't explain anything to educate me on my loan. I would pay the minimum and till one day a new employee told me to pay over and come into the office and pay a little more. She told me I can't work here. They are so dishonest to the customers. I have seen so many different faces. The manager there she has no knowledge. It took another employee to tell her right in front of me she was explaining the paperwork wrong and he was new employee. I am so frustrated with TitleMax. They have no regards for the customers.
TitleMax is famous for repossessing your car the night before when you have made arrangements to pay my late payment. The tow truck driver was ruthless. He drug my mini van down the street with it in park. He said, "Give me the keys," and I said, "No," that I had made arrangements to make my payment tomorrow by 1:30 p.m. "Please call them." He said,"No," and that if I didn't give him the key he would destroy my van. And he did destroy my van, then charged me $325.00 for the repo. So I pay their ridiculous fees and go to get my van, only to find my windshield broken, one tire almost flat, and my van won't start because someone has purposefully broke the fuel lines connecting at the fuel tank.
Do not deal with TitleMax in Phoenix. But if you have and your car gets repo'ed you can go to Total Recovery Auction on 79th Ave. and Van Buren, and demand your car or truck. It is illegal for them to hold your car or truck ransom in lieu of payment. Just call the police, and since it's not a police impound they have to give you your car or truck back. I hope this helps somebody. And don't sign anything. They will try to get you to sign saying you are liable for the charges.
The manager at this location is a joke. Made my payment on Friday, however Monday, May 23rd at 6 am they were here to repo my car (next payment not due til June 13th). Called the Fort Mill office at 9 am and was told they made a mistake that my car would be returned immediately. 7 hours later my car still hasn't been returned, so regardless of whether you make your payment or not they will still repo your vehicle and then offer you an "I'm sorry" like that will fix everything. I missed work so I lost a day's wages, my son missed his 9th grade high school exam as it's the end of the year and their response is "I'm sorry, we made a mistake". When I spoke with the manager she says, "We are doing everything we can to get your car returned". I responded with "Did you do everything you could to prevent this from happening?" Her response was "NO"!!! I cannot believe this company operates like this. A simple apology doesn't do justice.
They Sell Your Contact Information To Debt Collectors. Bournview Recovery Group has called every single reference that I used on my loan at TitleMax saying that I committed bank fraud. Then send the police, don't harass my friends and family. If I've committed a crime, send the police. I used TitleMax because I haven't used credit in 15 years and I had the loan for one month. THEY CALLED EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY REFERENCES AND NOW ALL OF THEM KNOW that I'm took out a predatory loan and some think I've committed bank fraud. Thanks TitleMax.
About two months ago my wife took her car down to get a loan on it. Her car is worth $3700 retail. They said that they could only give her $400 dollars for a loan and she agreed to this and told them that she would be back in one week to pay them the full amount of loan and any interest fees. One week later she returned to the same location and paid them back in full, $400 for the loan and $101 in interest charges for a week... Absurd!
BUT, to make matters worse, after accepting her payment, they tell her that they no longer have her title. It's at the DMV. They have put a lien on it, and now we are unable to get a title of any sort to my wife's car and we are out the $501 we paid to get title back from Title Max. It has now been 3 weeks since the loan was paid back and we are out the $101 in interest fees that we paid on the loan AND our car is worth nothing because our title has been "lost" in the system. This is criminal behavior and the owners of this company should be locked up for grand theft.
They have no ethics or conscience. They should be put out of business by the regulators.
I went to TitleMax on Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington Delaware and had the worst experience. I called the company from Reading PA where I live to explain the distance I would have to travel just to get a title loan. I explain to him that my car had some damages in detail just to see if he would be interested before I even wasted my time traveling there. He explain to me that it was OK and I could get a loan approved from anywhere between 800 to 1200 dollars which my asking price was only a 1000 so naturally he complied. When I got there finally and they seen my car I was denied completely. I was furious. I told them "Why did you give me a price then tell me you can't do nothing for me. That is false advertising." His response was to me "You didn't tell me it was that bad" and he was suppose to be the general manager.
Then I asked for the corporate number it was given to me where I explain what happen to a representative where he wrote down my information and sent it in a email to the corporate boss and told me he would get back to me. A few mins later I receive a phone call where he told me that he couldn't do anything for me and just gave me a bunch of apologies and that he would train his staff better. Never go here especially if anything goes wrong. There is no backup for assistance except your own as far as legal expenses.
Borrowed $3200 like most people here because of some hardship. Title rep called me and told me my payment was late. I advised her I needed more time to make payment that was Tuesday here we are Friday. My vehicle was repo by this TitleMax. This company does not work with you. They want the interest payment on time no grace period or you lose your car so they can sell it for a lot more than what you borrowed. My vehicle is worth about $9800 hundred on a $3200 loan. They are legalized criminals.
My city banned them from our city for this reason so what do they do they open shop outside the city limit and they instruct you and lure you to them with a promise of a higher loan amount outside city limits. These criminal car thieves know what they're doing to lure you into a very high interest rate. You can't ever pay down to get your title back. They need to be banned now. It's just a matter of time these thieves are gone out of our state with their employees without a job to steal your car.
My husband paid on our Titlemax account today. 04/07/2016. 2 hours later they called and said, "Your payment is due today." After he had just paid. This is the third time doing this. They need help that knows what they are doing. Rude people.
I got loan for $3,500, HUGE MISTAKE. I've made 3 payments of $500, my payoff is $3,650. If I make the min. payments for the remaining 9 months, I will have paid over $7,500. I WILL be paying this off next payment. They should not be allowed to take advantage of people!
It should really be against the law what this company does to people. I had a great car white Dodge Caliber that I work hard to get. Had to get a loan for dental. I paid every month for over 3 years at 250.00 a month... I still owe them the same amount after that much money that was given to them. I was 8 days late that last payment I paid. I work every day and need my car for that reason...
I hear a very very light knock on my door at 3:00 am in the morning... Well it was so light I didn't hear it, my dog did and woke me up barking like crazy. I went to the door and looked out the window. These guys were running down the stairs, got in my car and took off in it... That's how this computer gets your car. Steals it in the middle of the night. I had many things in my car which I had brand new boots in there. When I went to pick up my stuff these boot were not in there anymore. The lady took me if it wasn't on the list that the guys there self-wrote up they were not in my car... So this means TitleMax uses a company that can take whatever they want and just say it wasn't in there.
Called TitleMax and told them, they said "too bad, should have taken out of your car." I paid this company over 5000 thousand dollar and they still took my car in the middle of the night. I never saw my car again. Something should be done with a company that cheats people like this!! How sad the law does nothing about it... But Karma is a ** and each and every one of them will have their time!! The BIG tall ** manager at the Columbus GA office on Macon Rd is a horrible person, but she will pays her dues for being a low down rotten person!!
Like many others here I made the mistake of taking out a title loan from TitleMax. I had lost my job and was going through the grievance process, but needed extra funds to hold me over. I borrowed $3200 not realizing what I was getting myself into. The first 4 months I paid $500, which was about $100 over what my interest was. I was attempting to pay down the principal. I expected to pay it off with my income tax, but unfortunately due to that retarded 1095 A healthcare form my income tax go held up. So for the last 5 months I have been just paying $400 a month. So with the payment I'll be making today on my way home for work I will have paid a total of $4,400 on a $3200 loan, yet I still owe $3400 to get my title back!!! That's a total of $7,800 for a $3200 loan and that's only so far.
I have made the decision that I am going to borrow the $3400 from my credit union and pay it off. That way the payments I make on my loan will actually be towards paying it off and I don't have to worry about my car being repo'd if I fall a little behind. I wouldn't recommend anyone get a title loan over a couple hundred bucks, unless you absolutely have no other choice.
