I'm going to be completely honest and I dont really care if this sounds petty but I've had eHarmony for less than 2 weeks and I'm a single 34 yr old woman with a decent job a house, no kids etc.. The vast majority of my matches are well, less than interesting and I have yet to come across a single match that I personally find attractive.. Yes I know looks arent everything but it is a pretty defining feature of chemistry.

Also there are very few men within 60 miles of me that are matches in my given age range (29-40) which I think is fair for my age.. There are however a good deal of men over 40 and men who say they are in their 30s but look to be over 45 viewing my profile and sending me messages.. I'm not saying I'm a model or anything but I eat healthy, run, lift, do yoga and generally takes care of my appearance.. I feel duped that eharmony has my money. I'd rather sort through all of the unsavory characters on Tinder.

I took out a 6-month subscription on a payment plan with e-Harmony. I had previously had a good experience on this dating app a few years ago but did not have the same experience this time. I live in a rural area so my matches have been limited and most are an hour away. I believe this has been a deterrent for matches to make a connection with me. I asked eHarmony to make an exception and waive my last 2 payments and cancel my account due to the challenge of my rural location. Their response was to refer me back to their policy with absolutely no willingness to offer a compromise. I was well aware of the policy which is why I asked for an exception. As well they suggested I increase my search area to other states. I am not interested in a long distance relationship and I was angry that this was their “solution”. Don’t subscribe to eHarmony - they are focused on taking your money but not on making sure you are happy with their services.

I would give eHarmony negative stars if I could. I joined eHarmony at the beginning of July 2020. I paid ~$300 for a premium 1-year subscription. In that time, I've mostly been contacted by men who are scammers and men who are not paying members and cannot reply. I continue to be "matched" with men whose profiles have been inactive for well over a month (some up to 2 months) and men who are well outside my criteria. Traffic to my profile was ok during the first few days of my subscription, but over the past few weeks has dwindled to essentially no views (indicating poor exposure by Harmony).

I did not pay ~$300 for a sub-par service. Within the first 3 days of my subscription, I realized the service was poor and immediately contacted eHarmony for a full refund. I was told they could not refund my money. I decided to give it another shot, only to have the poor service continue. Since then, I've filled out their online "contact" sheet to request a refund. I received an acknowledgment email from the company stating that my complaint was received and that they'd reply in 24 hours. This has been a few weeks ago now, and I have received no response. I then sent direct emails to a provided email address: support.eharmomy.com, with no response.

Now, when I click on the link to the "contact" sheet, I can no longer access it within my account. eHarmony has essentially scammed me out of $300 and its customer service is abhorrent. I've been on other dating sites and their customer service has been much more responsive than eHarmony's. Avoid joining eHarmony at all costs.

I've been single for a while now and decided it was time to put myself back out there. I had tried several sites including eHarmony in the past and my impression was that eharmony was safer with fewer scammers. However, this time around, I've not encountered any scammers (good!), but also no one has liked my profile and only one person has even made an effort to respond to me. There is rarely anyone listed who's even living in the same state I am, and even if someone looks at my profile, they never initiate any contact. Most don't have pictures and most don't fill out their profiles so you even get a feel for what they may be like. I even wrote to eharmony asking for help and advice and no one ever responded.

I’m embarrassed to report that boredom and curiosity provoked me into clicking fast and NOT reading fine print. What I read was that I had three days to try it out for free, but after realizing I couldn’t really see anyone else on the site or access filters, I had to pay. I looked through the payment options and how much things cost. What I read was that it was $17 for the first three months, then it bumped up significantly. THIS WAS MY MISTAKE. I assumed (and we all know what that does) that I could fiddle around in the site and see if I liked what I saw for a few weeks and cancel if I didn’t love it. For $17, I was willing to sate my curiosity. No. Y’all, they charge 3 installments of ~$100 NOT the $17 for the first three months then the monthly charge.

It’s is NOT clear and while I did not slow down to read carefully, I would venture to say that the lack of clarity and explicitness is similar to the poacher-style loans you see on the side of busy college town streets. People are too caught up to read the verrrry small print and make an expensive mistake. I am so mad at myself because ultimately, I fell victim to an unclear marketing tactic. I found a hack to avoid the further installment payments, but I’m frustrated that I’ll be out the $100.

I recently registered with eHarmony and chosen 24 Monthly subscription, but I wanted to take on a Monthly base. They took the whole payment, even though I was asking them to cancel while I was still in 14 days cancellation from the registration. They ignored most of my emails and waited to pass 14 days (this is the period you can cancel your subscription) and took the whole payment at once. It's really very unprofessional service. The person that dealt with me was sort of annoying, telling me to spend time on the website instead of complaining. In that sort of manner. Terrible service. They don't deserve to be supported. I am very upset and I can't wait to finish with them. I wouldn't suggest eharmony to no one.

    Reviewed Aug. 22, 2020

I would give eHarmony zero stars if I could. They want to hold customers to their policies, but do not hold up their end of their policies like the guarantee the site advertises. I paid in full for a 12-month subscription. The site was terrible and didn't help me to meet anyone. I stopped using the site several months before the pandemic and the national lockdown which kept anyone from being able to meet people and use the site services. I did not request a refund due to the pandemic hardship, which should be automatically done since this is an unprecedented hardship for many people.

Anyway, I was unaware of the auto-renewal since I didn't really use the site and haven't logged in months before the renewal. My credit card number changed, so they weren't able to charge me in July. I got an email in August with a bill I owed for $388.15 for another 6-month subscription. I emailed them immediately to tell them that I do not want to continue my service and that I haven’t used it in months. They replied with a legal policy that I must pay for the subscription unless I canceled before the renewal date. It was a few weeks passed the renewal date and I haven’t used the service, so I don’t feel that I owe this money. I was unhappy with their site, I haven’t used the site much during my paid subscription and I didn’t use it at all months leading up to the renewal date due to the pandemic. This company does not care about their customers and only wants to enforce policies without any consideration.

I am not seeking a refund for the year that I barely used and terrible service they provide. I wasn’t charged for the subscription they say I now owe because of my credit card number changed. I will never use their site again. I just want my balance owed to be removed for a subscription that I didn’t authorize for renewal and haven’t used. I would never use a service and not pay for it nor would I neglect to pay for something I received. However, I don’t feel I was treated fairly, I didn’t use the site, and I don’t feel I owe them for the new subscription that I didn’t authorize or use that they are forcing me to pay because it’s in their policy.

When I asked them for some consideration to resolve this matter, they emailed me back and said that I owe them for a 12 month subscription and not 6 month subscription like the original billed emailed to me in the first email. This is not what they said in the first email. You cannot tell someone they owe $388 for 6 months and change it to 12 months for $800+. This company needs to get their act together and not treat people so poorly without any consideration. Lastly, I was so angry about their business practices that I asked about how to fulfill their guarantee that is advertised. They haven’t answered any of my questions in several emails regarding this. They just keep telling me I owe them money even if I delete my account due to the policy.

I did not read the find print in the payment agreement that says you must complete a year's worth of payments, even if you are dissatisfied and want to delete your profile, something that is commonly done on dating websites...except for eHarmony. I believe this to be the equivalent to the scammers that often visit these sites. I received absolutely no views, no likes, no conversations, nor did I find anyone in my city of 250,000 among their subscribers. Now I'm stuck with the rest of the yearly subscription payments for a very lousy service. Don't fall for their scam that you cannot have recourse if they fail to live up to your even mediocre expectations, much less if you have to believe their ads and actually have high expectations. Thank you.

I was a non-paying member of eHarmony for 2 days and in that time 11 men wrote me. That seemed like a nice amount to me since the site promises quality members. Quality over quantity was attractive to me. Unfortunately you cannot view profile pictures of people who write you as a non-paying member, so I became a paying member on day 3. In the 38 days since, only 15 men wrote me. I work in data analytics and that’s not statistically possible if an environment stays the same. 2 days = 11 emails, 38 days = 15 emails.

I reached out to eharmony as I felt duped and wanted to cancel my contract. They wouldn’t allow me to cancel and had the nerve to give me advice on how to make my profile more attractive. As a comparison, let me share that I joined another dating site the same day as eharmony (Plenty of Fish) and I’ve had 200 men email me in the same timeframe and am actively going on dates! I can’t say for certain, but my theory is that most of the 11 men who wrote me the first two days on eharmony weren’t real humans but straw men whose profiles eharmony created to give me the impression that I would be getting a lot of emails, when in fact I barely get any.

In fact, I am writing this on August 11th, and in the entire month of August only 5 in total men VIEWED my profile on eharmony. I get at least 5 men writing me PER DAY on Plenty of Fish and I’m over 40! I suspect that there are too few members of eharmony to make any real pairings. I wish someone would subpoena their algorithms for matching people because they deliberately con you into believing you’re popular when your a non-paying member only to give you no return on your investment once you actually pay for the service. If there was a class action lawsuit against eharmony I would gladly join.

Before signing up and paying such huge amount of money for this app, I had heard good reviews and I thought I give it a shot and see, maybe there will be more serious guys in here and I couldn't be any more wrong in my judgment!!!

    - There are not many guys available in this app because it is expensive.
    - The ones which are available are not any better than the ones who are in free dating apps, oh and to be fair, let me tell you, the guys in free apps are even more fun and entertaining.
    - There are so many profiles of guys without even a single profile pics, let aside the rest.

    - Majority of the guys I contacted follow the same ghosting trend, no difference because it is paid.

So, what I did, I raised my concerns (not many members according to my filters, no profile pics, impolite and rude guys, etc) to the customer service, and you would be surprised by the response I got from them; here are few:

    - "Your filters are too tight, and your distance is small (50KM) and your age range is low (between 40-45). You can increase the population of the members by increasing the KM to 100 and age range 38-50!!!!" Really? Like no brainer, I can even date someone from Australia if I increase the distance to few thousands! Oh and trust me, I know what age range I am looking for, but thanks for the help!!!

    - You can pass on your membership to a friend by providing so and so code! Oh, how am I even going to refer you to another person when what I see is already awful! I wish I would written a lovely review here, based on an amazing experience I have had with the app, and highly encourage others to subscribe, but nope, that is very remote as I am writing.

I have had so many communications back and forth and I don't want to bore you with those. All I am saying is, this is a business unit with the same corporate profit and loss concept and they care zero about who is there and who is not there. All they are looking for is money without providing any services. One important thing which was even more surprising, there is no background check on the members joining this platform. If at all you have an extra $250/- in your pocket please do just anything than paying for this app. All these have been purely my personal experience and I am happy for those who paid and got what they were looking for. Is there no rating star or negative that I can choose? :)

I'm pretty sure that they have a program that "entices" you to find your match by having someone write you a personal note. They take advantage of your curiosity and desire for a meaningful connection and offer you a subscription "deal". This "deal" means you can pay $120 for 3 months, or $240 for a year. Most hardworking people believe that they should take the deal, without realizing that eHarmony's policy is to NOT refund offers if you select a program that pays in advance. I'm in a large Metro area in Atlanta, and I've had random notes from someone in the SE Asia, and one who suddenly disappeared when I matched with her- then paid to sign up to speak with that person. I was willing to let that go, thinking that there would be more promising matches.

It's clear that there are multiple fake profiles online, also that people are summarily dismissing a basic attempt to communicate. It's not worth the money, it's not worth your time, and quite honestly- I believe this is a complete scam. MAYBE there are people out there who will match and end up finding their partner. But if you could do an analysis of their success rate vs. the people who never find a match I bet you would see something like under 5%. I asked to switch to a 3 month plan so I could possibly get back some money, since this is a tough time for people financially, and this could have better been spent (IMHO) if I bought a bunch of scratch lottery tickets and got a bottle of bourbon. DO NOT BOTHER. "customer service" is not offered here, and they also do not make any effort to work with you if you're unsatisfied. Just canned responses and delays so that you can't find a satisfactory solution together.

IF you want to sign up- try for one month. You'll save your money- and maybe see that your experience is similar to mine. I'd also like to point out that most folks today have zero intention of meaningful dialogue. Either people are trolling for a quick hookup, or they are trolling you period. So many bots on this website. You could waste hours looking through their "matches" and your time is better spent trying to better yourself physically and mentally. I'd love to see their "success" rate overall. At best, single digits- over millions of people this is not successful or worthy of your hard earned money.

There is literally nothing positive I can say about eharmony. First red flag should have been that they demanded I pay an entire year’s subscription upfront which was over $180. Their deceptive advertising shows the membership price as a monthly amount. This is clearly designed to make you think you will pay on a monthly basis but that is NOT true. Second major red flag is they will not issue you a refund after 3 days for anything in the world. Seriously? You’re supposed to decide if you’re satisfied with your membership within 3 days!?

Strangely enough I noticed that I got by far the most attention from other members during those first 3 days of signing up. After that there was almost no sign of life. Really seems like eHarmony purposely generates smiles or messages from profiles they probably created themselves during your first 3 days of being on the site so you will not cancel your membership because then they would have to give you your money back. When I confronted customer service about this they would not acknowledge it at all and instead told me I wasn’t getting attention anymore (notice my use of the word “anymore” here) because I just needed to add more photos. My number of photos was the same in the beginning and I was getting way more attention back then. The quality of the site is just terrible. Their so called compatibility matching system matches you up with people you have nothing in common with.

Your search preferences like match distance are completely disregarded. I said I wanted matches within a 30 mile radius so instead I get matched mostly with men from other states! The match quality leaves much to be desired. This site seems to be crawling with flaky insincere people that string you along and ghost on you when it comes time to meet up. Many profiles don’t even include photos anymore. Furthermore eharmony keeps showing your profile to other people even after you cancel your membership so some poor unsuspecting person tries to message you and they have no hope of getting a response. This company is a bunch of horrible greedy liars who prey on people’s loneliness and vulnerability and they deserve to be in prison for scamming the public. Do not give them a cent of your hard earned money!

I live in South Africa and clearly stated that when I signed up to the eHarmony dating site. Eharmony is one of the more expensive dating sites and I thought that would at least reduce the chance of finding some of the thousands of dating site scammers. One cannot see where other potential dates are based/live until one signs up and pays for the membership. Once I signed up, I discovered that there are NO potential date on the same continent as I live on (not even one)! The closest matches distance-wise are 17,000km and 22,000km away from me! I tried searching for several weeks but constantly got messages from men in reply saying that the distance is too great (no real surprises there!)

But when I contacted eharmony to ask for a refund they initially lied about there being more than 200 people within 150miles of me. I went back to them and said it is clear that this is not the case, they then replied that there were 44 members within 150miles from me. Actually - their own site states that there are 44 possible members GREATER THAN 150miles from me. I tried several times to get them to acknowledge that and ultimately they simply say that I signed a contract and that all payments must still be made despite the service being useless for me. Very disapppointing, eharmony. I would not recommend this service to anyone unless you check whether you fall into their catchment area.

In the 10 years of using this service, I received a grand total of 0 actual contacts with women. It seems like a bot is running the responses to keep people subscribed while the site does not work matching you with actual people. My advice is spend your money elsewhere.

After one month I had messaged 2 or 3 guys and had only one inbox interest.... who was not at all a match. And, speaking of Match.com, I initiated an account with that site owing to a deep discount (pandemic, probably). I wrote eHarmony and asked to have my subscription canceled & a refund. No way! They try to sell you on a complicated compatibility matching system, and they offer a lower monthly rate if you take out a year subscription, rather than the ridiculous rate they demand if you only pay month by month. It's basically a ploy to sucker you into paying a year's worth of money for a service that offers very few opportunities. I had very few matches, and I live in a fairly large area with plenty of people within drivable range in many different communities.

Half my matches were out of country, which is pretty useless, especially when the country you live next to has some of the most difficult immigration policies and work visa programs worldwide. None of my matches went anywhere. I cancelled my service and now I'm obliged to continue paying 28 dollars a month until the end of the year for a service I'm not using, which is ridiculous. Found a great girlfriend the old fashioned way through work connections and will never use an online dating service again. Waste of money.

I joined with the basic membership. Then I paid for a subscription. Here is what it was for me:

    1. Fake “free basic membership”: if you join with basic membership, they get the right to sell all of your personal Information to their third parties, and what do you get? Nothing. Others’ profiles will be blurry, you cannot email them not even if they are paying members. If you don’t pay, you get absolutely nothing but having your personal info sold out there.

    2. Signed for a paid membership: they don’t have short term options, so at least you will pay around 200 USD, minimum. Matches are extremely scarce to say the least. They won’t let you out of the contract even from the beginning, and will make you pay the whole service even so if you don’t want to keep going.

    3. Customer care is unreachable, unless it’s in their own terms: they have a phone number which will never connect you to a real person nor solve any issue. Also, all you’ll get from calling is an automated message telling you to go to their website, and send a form which they will reply at their own convenience.

    4. Matching system is worthless: their matching algorithm is pathetic. You will get matched with people you have nothing in common, and in fact, they will match you with people you specifically asked not to be matched within the questionnaire. Example: divorced, with kids, religion views, political views, etc. I respect everybody’s preferences, but preferences exist for a reason. And I am paying for them, so it’s the least I can expect. I think that what happens is that they don’t have cool people to join due to their lack of selectivity.

    5. They don’t truly confirm the profiles: I got a “match” with someone who said to be someone he was not. But since they do not have a confirmation method like most of online ratings platforms, be aware that you may get a scammer who fakes her/his identity.

    6. They don’t have many quality profiles: this last one is a personal opinion. Nevertheless, it’s worth to read by people who really wants to find a relationship. Most of people in this website seems desperate. Not to tell that most of people who joins seems to have lost all hopes to find something decent somewhere else. I think that for what you pay here, it should be more selective, and the dynamic more appealing. Don’t waste your money here. Bumble, Zoosk, even Plenty of Fish, are much more appealing than this fishy and outdated website, you can communicate with your matches without paying in the other sites, and the extra features are not as insane expensive, or extended. Rather put a quarter of the money in those other websites if you want the additional features and walk away whenever you want. eHarmony is a leech, and it’s not likely you’ll get matched but with a bunch of losers.

They ask politically correct and vanilla questions instead of relevant and game changer questions about the big 3 or 4 that end most relationships. It's a known fact that most relationships end over money, sex, children and I would argue politics now as well. In their 20 minute questionnaire, not once did they ask me what I was looking for, they just assume I'm looking for a clone of myself, which is not the case at all. They assume that I only wasn't someone in my income bracket, at my level of education and with my child history. At no point do they ask, in any way shape or form, if those things are important to me in a potential relationship. Instead, they want to know if I'm more comfortable in a tux or khakis, how I would respond to being a party where I don't know anyone, if I heard something that I found offensive, would I speak up or ignore it. Who cares???

I know marriages that have ended over political differences, people that are omitted from guest lists over political opinions and Thanksgiving dinners that have ended in near fistfights over politics and they never even mention a word about political affiliation or how strongly you feel about your positions. Personally, to me that's a game changer. Statistically, 85% of women have at least one child by age 40, but they don't ask about willingness or desire to help raise and support someone else's children. To me, that's a major commitment and very important. Regarding money management, not a single question. Are you frugal, live beyond your means, a saver, a spender, work with a budget, etc., etc. Nope, they would rather know if wear shorts or slacks.

Regarding sex, they only vaguely make mention about what they call "intimacy". How important is "intimacy" they ask. Well, some people call a peck on the cheek and holding hands being "intimate", while I have a completely different idea of what I want to know about a woman's wants and desires regarding "intimacy". So, as I said, they don't address the key issues that statistically end relationships and thus, must be critical to having a successful relationship, but they sure want to know if I want a casual dinner or a formal dinner.

After completing my profile eHarmony said I had almost 2000 matches, nonetheless, when I started to reached out to my matches I noticed most had not been on in weeks or months. I had only one response in 3 days and decided to cut my loss during my trial period. Here is the big lie. The phone number is ran by a phone bank in India with the same canned speech from each person saying they will forward my information to customer service and wait for an email. At the time of this review, I have made phone calls but not one email from customer service. Dig into real reviews and you will get the same overall answer. eHarmony is a fraud dating website, with outdated profiles, and poor customer service. If you don't like your money then sign up or better yet give it someone in need rather than this fraud dating website.

I didn't find the quality of matches worth 500$ a year and even when I simply requested for my account to be deleted they said that they would just keep charging me.

Back in the day I remember joining Eharmony and feeling that my interactions were very special and even though it was a long process to even just communicate with someone, looking back it was a great system. NOW on the other hand this site SUCKS! Not only is it expensive and they rope you into paying without allowing for any type of refund is something goes wrong or you want to cancel (make sure to always read the fine print), but also the new way they do things is NO better than on the free sites. I came back to Eharmony because of what I remembered about how you got quality matches and had to work hard to even communicate with anyone. I started this new subscription about a month ago and since they I have hated every moment of it!

First off when I tried to create a decent and interesting profile it wouldn't let me go beyond 500 words and then I cannot even see the profile summary that I created. Instead they want to answer their stupid questions and check things off to create a profile of sorts. Also I get way too many matches which makes me believe that they are just matching people to match people and it isn't as special as they make it seem. Then when I attempt to reach out to someone I never get any type of response whatsoever. I have had more traffic and more dating options on the free sites than on Eharmony. The amount of people as well who don't even have photos is astounding to say the least. Again, why am I paying so much for a site that would let someone build a profile without any pictures?!

Overall this site is HORRIBLE and not worth all of the money. I have read some other reviews and find it interesting that any of the positive reviews I have found have been from previous years and since 2020 ALL of the reviews have been negative, what changed?! Obviously something and not for the better. I am happy to cancel my subscription and tell everyone how horrible this site is and never ever return. This site is NOT at all special and I am going to go back to the free sites for sure!

I was suddenly having my profile favored by men whose faces I couldn't see.

I did complete the profile. After reading an agreement that told me I had 3 days to terminate the subscription without further charge and for a refund. I decided to open the subscription so I could read messages sent and see the perspective suitor. After 24 hours of feeling a bit like a piece of meat, I decided to cancel the subscription. Eharmony so informed me that though they were sorry to see me go, I still had to pay for the subscription. I contacted customer service and Henry D refused to issue me any sort of refund just sending me some sort of terms and conditions and reference state requirement. I paid via PayPal and they refuse to do what’s right and duped me into paying for a full year when that’s not what I signed up for at all. The fact that they refuse to help and that Henry D would even do anything shows a blatant legal disregard to my right and good business practice.

I’m not asking for anything outrageous – just to be charged what I signed up for. Scamming me out of an extra hundred dollars may sound small but how many people are they doing this to across the country and world. It’s probably large enough to be considered federal and for the FBI to investigate because it’s likely over $100,000. All I want is what’s right – my hundred dollars refunded to me.

I think eHarmony is deceptive. The first month, I was given compatible matches. They must have felt that I was a compatible match as well, because we exchanged messages and I met with one. However after a month or so, the matches became less and less frequent and irregular. The quality of matches was also very poor. Many of them were older, unattractive, of lower education level, and very far. Hardly anyone viewed my profile either. My profile was complete with photos. I'm fairly attractive. Nevertheless, hardly any men have been viewing my profile for the past 2-3 months.

When I contacted the customer service asking them if there was any glitch, perhaps my profile would not pop up, they kept sending me the boiler plate response. One of the reasons for lack of matches was that I only "chose ** and Asian men" in Los Angeles, the largest city in the world. I contacted them 4 or 5 times about the lack of matches. A lot of matches did not even have any photographs. I have no way of knowing whether these are real members or just fake ones created by eharmony.

I am an educated attractive single male. I’m not into bar or club scenes — never have been — so I tried eHarmony in 2009 and thought it was okay. I met several people and clicked with many of them, eventually entering into a long-term relationship with one of them. In 2018, a few years after that relationship had ended, I tried eharmony again. Completely bogus. Fake profiles left and right, coupled with exorbitant prices; and what made it worse was that the quality of the customer service had gone downhill, fast. So I tried eharmony again two months ago (late 2019), and again, another horrible experience. Horrible prices, matches completely outside of my parameters — if not altogether fake again — and again, the customer service was atrocious (another poster commented that this may be all connected to Neal’s retirement which may indeed be the case). It used to be where you could call eharmony’s customer service; now, you can only email them.

I never minded that eharmony dragged you through the mud with their hour-long Q/A and self-examination session because in theory, it sounds good. The reality, though, is that it simply filters out people who have no patience and who are not as dedicated to finding someone serious. However, at its core, i.e., to deduce the best possible matches for YOU, eharmony’s compatibility analysis is a total scam, nothing more than a futile exercise in pop-psychology (no matter what they may have you believe).

So in December 2019, I joined Match.com. Not my favorite site because without the filtering process (i.e., the Q/A torture chamber) that can bring you more dedicated, patient and serious matches, you are instead exposed to many more types of “fish” in the sea (and speaking of “fish,” don’t even get me started on that POF site full of the dregs of society). But if you can instead use some that patience that you saved after avoiding eharmony’s scam to do your own filtering on match.com, you can accomplish the same thing and at a FRACTION of the price that eharmony charges. Anyways, that’s my two cents worth.

The men are gross, they apparently do not read your desired characteristics and their pictures are just lazy. And then there are the scams inside the scam... with men & women that present themselves as one thing only to turn around and find out they are “Down on their luck” and you know they are going to ask you for money. As soon as becoming aware of the deduction I requested a refund, along with deleting the app and logged out of the service. I was very frustrated with this service. I signed up for a 6 month trial for my daughter as a birthday present. She never received any local prospects, only ones too far away to even arrange a date. I was billed automatically, without consent, for another 6 months. I tried to cancel my subscription by contacting the service department, but their response, in so many words, was "too bad." I then requested a refund since I immediately closed the account. Again the response was that this is in the contract. I don't know how businesses are allowed to operate like this - taking your money then not refunding it when the service provided was substandard.

Most of my matches were like 200+ kilometres away and that defeats the purpose because I was looking to date and get married in my hometown. I have been using eHarmony since May and at first I was in general satisfied with their service. The proposed matches were adequate, it provided a good readable overview of the interests and expectations of other users, one could filter the search according to country of residence and, very important, I didn't experience any technical problems. However, the platform was updated in October and it is now a complete disaster. Confusing criteria for the selected matches, many users with deleted user names, including me, no option to filter your search by country (except for five English speaking countries and Brazil...), not even the option to search by continent.

But the cherry on the cake is that now, when I am back in my home country Bulgaria for the holidays, my access to their site is denied, without any explanation. A Russian girl I was chatting with earlier reported to me that the same happened to her and she can only access her profile using a VPN tunnel. This is a complete shame, as we are denied service after we paid. I don't expect anything better than a generic answer response saying how sorry are they for my negative experience and the main reason to write this review is to warn other users, especially people from Eastern Europe.

Nowhere in the survey is physical appearance addressed, yet it is quite an important factor. I know the service cannot guarantee matches, dates, or finding ‘the one,’ but I do believe I did not get my money’s worth, and the computer algorithm doesn’t factor in what is quite necessary to some. Don't you think it's strange that most reviews give eHarmony one star, but the first reviews on this page are the few who rate it highly? Everything people are saying about this scam service is accurate, and I used to be a massive fan of eHarmony. Ignore the 3-day window for cancellation. They will NOT refund your money ever, even if you cancel within the first 24 hours. It's because they don't believe in their product and neither should you. They will tell you that they aren't obligated to give you a refund, but you are obligated to pay them even if you cancel and delete your profile. In any other business, that would be considered fraud. At least California legislators were smart enough to catch on.

With their new system, dealbreakers are ignored, so I get to tell the hopefuls who match with me that we're not a good match. It's cruel because neither of us should be put in that position. Kids are not a type of dealbreaker you can overlook! Most of my "matches" have no photos, haven't been online in months, or live out of state. One guy has four accounts. I remove matches who aren't a good fit, only to see the same match pop back up a few moments later. It's like they're hoping I have Alzheimer's. I'm in the Manhattan area, where there are plenty of people. How is it possible that there aren't decent matches when most of my settings are set to open? Maybe it's because they've been scamming customers so severely that no one uses it anymore.

I signed up for eHarmony, and within 24 hours decided I did not want to use their service. Prior to signing up I read about the refund policy and saw there was a three day refund policy for Singles Services. Don't be fooled - Singles Services is not the subscription you're signing up for with the six month subscription. I emailed Eharmony the day after signing up and was told I could not receive a refund. Nobody addressed my Singles Services inquiry. I also asked if non-subscribers were able to have profiles on Eharmony. This was also not addressed. Eharmony is over $200 for a six month membership. Allowing non-subscribers to have profiles is an absolute waste of time and paying subscribers' money. Especially when you're sent only a few matches a day. I'm guessing more than 50% of them are non-subscribers. You send a smile or a message to nobody.

Eharmony tried to blame me because of my match preferences. I live in a large city and did a 60 mile range and an 18 year age range. You would think that's a good range. No. And their "What-if" function is useless. I'm 41. They're sending me 25 year old men. What algorithm are they using for that? Two weeks into this horrible experience, I contacted customer service and asked once again if I could cancel my membership. I told them I didn't want a refund for the money I had already paid, but wanted to waive the remainder of my balance. The woman (Bev) I spoke to sent me an email to respond to stating my case to have the remaining balance waived. I also brought up the non-subscriber issue in my email. Again, it was not addressed. Within a few hours I received an email from Kenneth ** once again telling me I couldn't cancel my membership without paying the balance.

I do not know how people meet on Eharmony. Well, unless you want to move to another state, be with someone who's 15 years older or younger, and really not what you're looking for in a match. Basically, settling. I would never recommend Eharmony to anyone. It is the biggest waste of time and money. I would sooner say use a paid site that doesn't cost a ridiculous amount of money or a free one. You will most likely have an easier time meeting someone that way than on Eharmony.

Once I paid, I realized I made a mistake. I read all over the web that you could try it out for 3 days and get a refund. That only implies to certain states! Now I am stuck with a subscription for a year. I should have read their terms more closely, that is my fault. But the site is awful. The men I get matched with I wouldn't even look at once on the street! I explained this to customer service and they told me they based off compatibility and looks were only a part of it. No way! Worst matches... biggest waste of almost $400.

I want it noted of for the record that if I could give E-Harmony Zero stars, I would. Unless you are "practically perfect in every way" (to quote Free to Be You and Me) this site is not for you. The categories about your characteristics that you are required to rate are designed to match you to someone who shares your worst qualities. Their customer service is a abysmal.

When they can't send you matches within your preferences, they offer you the "what if" button. It gives you matches "slightly outside of your preferences". In my case they were totally age inappropriate (16+ years younger than me), totally geographically inappropriate for me (way too far away for someone who doesn't like to travel), and I couldn't even get a good look at their profile to see if there was anything worth risking embarrassment over without embarrassing myself by sending a "a smile" to women over a decade younger than me.

Once I adjusted my preferences to women no younger than 10 years my junior, within a 30 mile radius of my location (which is actually outside what I'd like, I prefer 10 to 20 miles at most), suddenly there are no matches. What a waste. Oh, and their customer service personnel clearly don't speak English fluently. They can't understand what you're texting them in chat and they give insulting answers to your questions because I don't even think they are listening.

So far I have “smiled” at literally 200 profiles whom I was certain had similar interests, ambitions and ideals and being a mid 40’s, stable, fit and kind person myself, I thought a lot of them would also show interest. Nope, nothing, not even a log on to the site. I can scroll thru my list of likes and 199 of the 200 are there but none of them have responded.

I am convinced that this site is a sham. And an expensive one at that. For 100 plus dollars a month (I signed up for 6 months) I expected to make a few more connections... certainly, I have come across WAY more interesting women with some great profiles on this site but I’m sorry, none of them are real folks. I joined eHarmony at the prompting of a friend who advised me to be patient with the dating site. I am however very disappointed by its mode of operation which I find misleading and deceitful. In July, I met a guy I thought we could try a relationship. We had great conversations for two months and planned to meet while I was on Vacation in Europe, where he was also doing some research work. Unfortunately, things did not work out as I had hoped after the meeting. He gave several reasons, but the bottom line was that he did not want the relationship to go on. I continued with my life, only to be matched with the same guy, under a different name, profile and country!!!

eHarmony claims that it verifies its members, and while they do not do background checks, this guy must pay both the accounts to keep them. I felt like a fool, seeing that on the second profile, he had a whole different personality. This guy is actually a math professor at a state University in Chicago, which I checked, thanks to public transparency of state employees.

On reporting to eHarmony, I got the response saying "we will evaluate if he has violated any of the eHarmony policies". The guy himself claims that eHarmony failed to update or remove his old profile. Two things came to mind. Either 1) This man is a lying creep who is up to no good, and eHarmony will serve us best by banning him 2) The lawsuit brought against eHarmony claiming that it hires (or keeps non-paying people's profiles) to bait singles has truth in it. The man bragged that eHarmony did not ban him. eHarmony on the other hand refuses to tell its exact action, and will also not refund or let me out of the membership.

After I reported this matter, I no longer get matches, but can also not get out of the membership until March 2020. Each time I ask for matches, I am matched with people outside my preferences: from Wisconsin, Idaho, Canada, Mogadishu, Haiti, even Alaska... while I am in the New England area. Matches that I have almost zero chance of making it work. This has turned out to be such a con. Very disappointed.

EHarmony does not deliver messages to owners of profiles who are not paid subscribers. There are many profiles on EHarmony that are abandoned. EHarmony does no receive money for abandoned profiles. So when someone sends a message to a person who has abandoned their profile, the message is put into limbo, and the sender is never told, (allowed to know), if his/her message was delivered. Why does this matter? Because there is no way to know how many profiles on EHarmony are abandoned, unless subscribers are allowed to know if their messages are delivered and read. EHarmony is scamming their paid subscribers by giving them the impression that many profiles are active, and messages are being delivered, when they actually aren’t.

However, I also REALLY liked the details they required a user to complete because it helps weed out some of the people who are not there to truly date but just hook-up. It also gives a much better way to evaluate potential prospects. And, the first sets of communication allow for you to evaluate potential partners without going on actual dates (saves money from the guys perspective and time/energy on the girls).

I decided after a month that I wasn't ready to get back out there and cancelled. I got the message on the site that said, "Sorry to see you go." All of sudden I had a payment come out in July and emailed right away asking why I was being charged after my 6 months was up and I had cancelled after one. I received an automated response with the no refund policy.

I sent 4 more messages and only one of those responses was from a real person that said they never received my cancellation but would cancel it now. However, I will still have to pay for the 6 months. I don't even get automated responses anymore. They are forcing me to pay for another six months and they have turned off my account. 1st of all, when I did actually log in to check matches, they were seemingly randomly assigned (not compatible) and rather far away. Then, I started to realize very few of the messages I sent were being read so I started the alphabet just sending one letter messages starting with "A" just to see if any of them were ever read. From A to Q (which is 17 messages sent) for the vast majority of them (estimate 30 matches), I would estimate 5% of them were ever actually read. If you can extrapolate that to all your well crafted messages, that is a monumental amount of wasted time I'd rather be utilizing other ways in actually finding a quality match.

Now the money! Approx $55 per month for a 3 month membership with guarantee... fine, great. Charged, paid. No issue. 3 more months for free of which I randomly logged in mainly for amusement purposes. Stopped taking it seriously about the 6 - 7 week mark. Got charged on auto renewal for the 1st of 3 more installments for my "auto renewal convenience" (so my account isn't interrupted. HA!) I emailed within minutes of getting the notification on my phone asking if my account could be cancelled and my recent payment refunded. In response, my account was cancelled (could no longer log in) yet they refused to refund me my payment.

I tried working it out with their customer service dept. via e-mail over a 10 day period (probably 10 e-mail exchanges) and several times requested to speak to a supervisor to which I was told they are not allowed to make outbound calls. I called in to speak to one... Not available and they couldn't tell me when they would be but they could take my number and have them call me. Wait?? What happened to they "can't make outbound calls".... or did they not have any intent on actually calling? Long of the short, I got nonsense from their customer service department, never got to speak with a manager, and inevitably disputed the charge with my credit card company. But this isn't the biggest problem... eHarmony is NOT a dating site!!! I have been on the site for 2 months, and have received only 2 messages, out of about 400 matches! How can that be? I am attractive, I have all my teeth and hair, am well educated financially secure and generally a nice, normal person.

I reached out to about 30 people without a SINGLE response! So I read some of the other reviews, and wasn't aware of the restrictions on the free members which might explain why I am sending messages and not getting any responses. But that also implies that the majority of the people on the site are free members who can NOT communicate with paid members. How does that work? It clearly doesn't. I contacted eHarmony support who suggested that I expand my choices. Sorry but I thought that was the point of a dating site, to CHOOSE the type of people you would be compatible with!!! Anyway, I foolishly signed up for an entire year. I haven't received any matches over the past week, maybe I'm on the black list. More likely eHarmony just doesn't have enough people to match, which is quite a big issue for a supposed dating site. In any case, this was a $500 mistake - don't make the same one. 2 biggest problems with E-harmony.

The website does not send paid members email message notifications. What? If a paid member sends another paid member an email, that member won't know they have an email message because E-harmony said we have to go to their website to see if we have messages.

Another thing, Only paid members can send messages. But non-paid members can ONLY send questions. That's how to tell who a paid member is.

2nd problem and reason why most people don't pay after their fill out the lengthy questionnaire. The amount is outrageous. The monthly price is $60, and that's if they are offering the monthly price as an option, right now eHarmony is not. so, E-harmony wants a person to pay for 6 months subscription at $39 a month, total $234.

I paid for a 6 months subscription. I got sent very few qualified matches. Most of the people I messages never got back to me. I called customer services, I was told a manager would call me back, they never did. I called again, was told the same thing again a supervisor will call me back. They stopped sending me matches, even though I paid for 6 months. Most of the profiles on the website are not paid members. I found this out because after 8months of not using the account, out of nowhere, they started sending me matches. So paid members are getting matched with me thinking I am a paid member, but I am not.

E-harmony no longer makes people complete their profile or file out the summary section. Too many matches I get have incomplete profiles.

This is the worst dating site ever. Day after day, eHarmony matches me either with a member that is no longer a paid member. They do not match me within my county, because I live near the Canada border. But they will give me a notice stating how they saved me from a fake profile on this site, that they took down. Then they can not find a match for me. So they tell me to change my criteria/dimensions, so go change who you are? Which the matches they do send me are not ever a match, and do not responded. Plus tell me to add more pictures of myself that will get me more messages. So I can fit into this fake useless dating website, that’s not even dating site. Stay away from this site!

I started out receiving matches within the area that I specified. After a couple of months, I now receive very few matches and they are never within a 100 miles. I have disabled the auto renew so maybe they don't care since they know I won't be paying again. I paid for a full year and it is definitely a ripoff.

As I logged in the first time as a non paying customer, right off the bat a bunch of entries. I filled out the questionnaire and back and forth with someone. Most likely a bot. So I joined. I had one person, I think she worked for eHarmony or was a plant, bought her dinner but this match that was supposedly matched to me HAD NOTHING IN COMMON. Since then absolutely nothing. Many matches are scales and removed.

Today’s “new” matches were a month old. I had already smiled at them. Both at distance. Total scam. Total lies . Refusal to stand by their product. I put in a report to Florida Attorney General's office and FTC, for scamming seniors. Stay far away from this scam. I signed up for 3 Months and canceled auto billing. They did confirm that. I want my money back or send real verifiable dates. I think they are all bots, there is no one there. It’s a scam from day one. This is a Silicon Valley Nigerian like scam. Potential dates removed often and now recycling old submission and smile and send questions to every one and get absolutely 0 responses.

I can see why EH has a minimum year lock-in. Receive a few IMs and after 2-3 exchanges/ kaput. Think hard before signing up here. Either that or the general population is bonkers. What exactly is the harm in being bought dinner or a couple drinks. There sure as hades isn’t any obligation built in.

This website is absolutely terrible. I made my profile and the same very day I tried to cancel it, they never did. You will not meet anyone here. The service is terrible, they control who you can see or talk to. I called once and the guy who answered was extremely aggressive and rude. Please go to Match.com, they are nice, friendly and will be more than happy to assist you if you need anything. Stay away please.

This site is an absolute waste of your time and money!!!! I signed up thinking my matches would be in the surrounding area of which I live or at least in my state. Instead all I have received are matches that are located in Delaware, Indiana, Texas, Georgia, Florida. I live in Southwest Virginia. None of the matches were remotely close to me. Plus I specified I preferred a man of ** ethnicity. 60% of my matches that eHarmony sent me were men of ** ethnicity. I contacted customer service about the matter, requesting a refund and of course no refund could be made. They hold no responsibility for anything on their site. People!! KEEP YOUR MONEY AND DON'T WASTE IT ON THIS SITE!!!!

I joined to try out on a whim based on it being highly recommended. I feel like this website has more decent girls than guys that actually pay. Most of the people who actually message me have most of my major deal breakers like smoking. I finally meet someone and they stand up at the last minute because they got a better match. So it’s very easy for men to find what they’re looking for but most of the decent men either won’t pay or have an easier time finding what they’re looking for.

I’m glad I waited on a promotion and only signed up for 3 months because it’s the biggest waste of money ever for me, and I won’t pay for a spotlight or anything because I already wasted enough. If you’re a man go ahead and join you will find what you’re looking for easy. If you’re a woman unless you’re full of money and/or perfect be prepared to be stood up or not messaged. I also tend to get men way older than me and out of my age range messaging. I’ve had better luck with free dating apps. I’ve had matches that are 100 percent who never responded to me many times. They also should offer trials, like other dating website that charge. There would probably be more selection then.

I signed up for eHarmony THREE YEARS AGO and spent over an hour taking their personality quiz. At the end of the quiz, I received a message that says, "We're sorry – we are unable to find the right type of people for you. This does not reflect on you personally or your chances of finding a happy relationship. Thank you for trying eHarmony. We wish you the best in finding a great relationship." So they brag about having this awesome, scientifically-based algorithm, I spend lots of time answering very personal questions about myself, and then I get that result. The worst part is, there's no explanation whatsoever. I was never even told why they couldn't find any matches for me. What about my answers makes me un-help-able? No clarification was ever given.

Now, notice I said I did this THREE YEARS AGO. I logged onto my account tonight for the first time in three years, and, sure enough, they won't even let me retake the quiz. It just keeps plastering the same message with no explanation as to why and no chance to try again. Evidently, the good folks at eHarmony are of the opinion that people cannot change anything about themselves, even several years later. Once you've been labeled undesirable by eHarmony - well, that's it. Don't waste your time with these awful people. Try OkCupid or some other site that treats its users with respect and doesn't label them for life.

    Response from eHarmony

    Dear Aaron,

Thank you for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear we were unable to find you matches 3 years ago. There are a number of reasons why that result occurred and I'd be happy to review your account and see if I can find more information. Once you get that result, your account is locked unless you contact us. If you would email us at membercare@eharmony.com from the email address associated with that account, I'd be happy to investigate and see if I can unlock that for you.

I signed up for the site, completed all the questions and preferences. I continued to get matches from people who did not meet those preferences. Also had a couple of scammers trying to connect. For all the marketing about being matched based on profile, the results are poor at best. They have a 3 day cancellation which is absurd. How do you know about the site and their customer service within that time period? (I confess I didn't read all the fine print as I couldn't imagine customer service not taking care of customer satisfaction.) If they were confident in their service they would give refunds if people found them to be unsatisfactory. It makes no sense that they would force you to stay in the agreement for a year if you come off their site, wish not to be presented further and not return unused funds.
