This was a waste of my goddamn time. It took me ages to set it up, as they advertise a 'free' dating site, only to get to the end of the process, for them to say "you now can't send a message or view a picture without paying!" False advertisement isn't going to get you more customers. By advertising the price at the end just pisses people off!!

I purchased the eHarmony app to start online dating hopefully with less scammers. If you don’t pay you don’t have access to photos of matches. What did I get, NOTHING, not a single date or even answers to my likes or comments. I also received more than half of my matches with no photos available. I didn’t go on a single date. I still had to pay. There is no customer service or contact info only a P.O.Box address. I can’t believe this site is still running and not breaking any laws. I consider this theft. I paid for a service but received nothing in return.

STAY AWAY!!!! This is one of the worst companies I have ever had to deal with! Always read the reviews before you sign up for anything, this company is all about the money and are not willing to work with anyone who decides it's not what they want. They reel you in with "free trials" or "half price off for the 1st month" and then BAM they think they have you stuck in a useless subscription. This was not my first time dealing with this dating site, however since the new management things have changed. It seems to be all about the money, not about truly trying to help people find love or companionship.
Stupidly I made a rash decision and signed up the other day and within 1 HOUR I emailed them telling them I would be cancelling, it took 24 hours for them to respond with the "you're stuck" **, I will admit I was quite angry and nasty in all correspondence after this. Really? After 1 hour you won't budge? What a disgrace this company is, not to mention the matches aren't even in my province! Their customer service representatives are ignorant and have no idea how to treat customers! I was even willing to let them keep the first month charge! This site is not worth your time, or money!

This is the worst company for dating. Please show reviews to let people know. They are just want to get to your bank account and there's no way you could cancel on them. I thought this company it was same as 18 years ago, but now the company owns by different nationality and they just want to getting to your bank account.

I logged into eHarmony for one day. Literally one day. A Sunday. On Monday I requested to cancel my membership and asked for a refund of $314. I was told Florida is not a state that has the 3 day cancellation ability. I then contacted customer service and said "charge me for the one day I used your service." Again I was told the 6 month membership was non-refundable. Not one man I saw on the site was anything of my taste. Much too far in distance and not pleasing to look at in any form or fashion.
After a couple of hours I knew immediately this was not going to be a site I would find a match on. It's just proof that if you use their service for one day, you are forced to buy a long term subscription. Further proof that's how they stay in business. Robbing people. If their site for dating was so great and they had so many happy members they wouldn't need to steal money from anyone. I would have felt much better giving my $314 to a charity other than being scammed by eharmony. Harmony is making members happy. What they do is rip people off.

I am a young and energetic 58 year old woman, who is in great shape and looks much younger than my age. Being recently divorced and ready to start dating again, I decided to give eHarmony a try because it caters to older and more serious people, it claims to match people on the basis of compatibility, and it seems to have a system that discourages fake profiles. Soon after opening my account, I was immediately matched with many people and one of the ones I liked contacted me. He was a 56 year old man who said he was looking for a long-term relationship and had expectations of commitment, that he was recently divorced too, and that we seemed very compatible (although our compatibility score was 96). He and I hit it off and began communicating by text and phone calls, we met in person several times, and were together for three months. It was a long-distance relationship and these things rarely (if ever) work out.
But the problem is that, ever since I made my eHarmony profile visible again to test my luck, the number of matches has been minimal. Although one match that had a high compatibility score of 117, we messaged each other twice and then I didn't hear back from him. So, this is a very expensive service but they have absolutely no support for their customers. The only thing I can say about eHarmony is that it doesn't feel like a 'meat market' the way some other dating sites do. Personally, I'm going to avoid online dating sites and apps because, in the end, all of these sites encourage people to treat each other like commodities. eHarmony seems different in this regard but at the cost of charging lots of money for very little return.

This organization is worthless. They send an average of 1 match per week, and every match they tell me is "perfect" is at least 10 years older than what I've specified. There is no easily accessible customer service contact information where you can share your experience and try to find out why they ignore your specifications. Way too expensive, way too ineffective, and unreachable. How do they stay in business??

I would consider this site the worst dating site ever. I thought I was applying for a free trial, but after entering my credit card info - I was immediately charged $103.00 and told that I had to pay four more payments and that I had subscribed for a year. They would not let me cancel this or change this. I wrote to the Better Business Bureau and they were unable to help me resolve this. A new law filed by Governor Gavin Newsom has been filed to make canceling subscriptions without a hassle easier. Assembly bill 390 - which I will be using against them if there is any legal dispute. I had to advise my bank not to pay them anything else. I sent a letter to the CEO, and the Administrator of their Billing Dept. - no response - Do not waste your money on this site!!!!

I ended up paying $250 for a year's subscription. I am 70 years old, attractive and slender. They have no inventory of men my age. You cannot even do a search. In the entire year, I was presented with nine profiles and they were pretty pathetic. Maybe this is a good dating site if you are younger. If you are a senior, do not waste your time or money. Match and Zoosk are so much cheaper and they have plenty of inventory.

Relatively few matches for such an expensive service so I ended up not using it much after the first month or two. Come to find out a year later they had auto-renewed the service for $150 and refused to provide any sort or refund or compromise, even after I complained to the BBB. They had what I considered poor customer service in resolving the dispute, with a dismissive, entitled attitude. If you do end up signing up for the service, it's a good idea to immediately disable the auto renewal option or you will end up with an expensive mistake!

Lost my wife a while ago and thought I was ready to start dating, so I signed up. In the process of filling out questions and responding to a couple of those interested I realized I wasn't ready and don't know if I ever well be. I contacted Customer Support as I had only created the account a day or two ago, requesting a refund. They were totally without compassion and refused any refund in fact told me I was still responsible for additional payments! I used PayPal thank goodness and have instructed them not to make future payments, unfortunately I'm out the initial payment. I would NOT recommend using this site as they have NO heart! Tip for consumers: Be very careful, I'd suggest if you want to go ahead and try them, which I discourage, to opt for the shortest term possible until you're sure you want to continue.

Paid for the subscription, been on for 3 months only to find out that there’s only been 4 matches within 60 miles and, so far, less than 50 within 150 miles. Also a number of fake profiles. Tried starting conversations with over 20, only 4 ever responded, but usually only once. My “new” matches over 3 months have often been the same person more than once or someone that’s not been active for over a month. Their claims are very misleading, I regret subscribing, worst dating site I’ve tried.

We had a very poor experience with eHarmony. We joined in the fall with a promotional sale for 6 months for $100. We were not going to continue on with this dating service. Unbeknownst to us they signed us up for an auto subscription, and by the spring they charged us $350 for the next year. We did not give permission for this, and they did not notify us that this was going to happen. When we tried to call customer service it was very difficult to find a number to call.
When we finally got through to a customer service representative he basically said there was nothing he could do for us. He said they would not provide a refund and he would not refer us to talk to anyone else. This is a very shady business. The representative said that he would pass our case along to a "specialist", and that robot "specialist" promptly sent us a form email saying there were no refunds. No exceptions. I would think twice before getting involved with this unethical company. Very bad experience.

So I fell for the idea of online dating and checked out eHarmony for free, with my search results I had 150 matches in my area, I found about 30 profiles that I would like to meet and so I purchased a year scrip. Soon as I did half the people I favorited disappeared and out of the 150 matches I had prior to paying went down to 55. So I checked my settings thinking it was a fluke and everything was the same. I contacted Eharmony about it wondering what was going on and the only response I got was automated "we can't do anything" so I asked for a refund because I felt ripped off at this point, false advertising. They of course won't refund but luckily my credit card company feels differently, DO NOT USE THEM!.

You also have no way to delete all your personal information w/o going through customer service which once again, says you have to do it which once again, there is no way to do it. I signed up for free to start with. I created my profile and was honest about what I was looking for in a mate. I started getting matches and at first it was fun. Then I started seeing men's profiles that were simply nasty talking about sexual preferences. I of course deleted this person from my matches (so I thought) but the whole idea that this man could get on there and basically solicit sex was disgusting to me. By this time, I was paying for the membership. I complained to eHarmony and kept using the app. My matches got fewer and fewer, I had ZERO conversations, and found it to be a complete waste of time for me. So, I contacted customer support to let them know that I no longer wanted to use the program. I was ignored and told to adjust my profile to get more matches.
I sent another email asking for someone to contact me. I received YET ANOTHER patronizing email telling me I needed to change my profile and my location settings. Bottom line is there is ZERO customer service. If you have a problem you are out of luck and you are stuck paying for it whether you use it or not. There is NO satisfaction guaranteed. It wasn't like I wasn't trying to talk to my matches it was just that the matches weren't worth talking to. I really think I'd do better going to a bar! Why should I change my profile to FIT what someone wants? I am who I am and if someone doesn't like it... tough! eHarmony wants your money, not your happiness. They couldn't care less whether their product works.

eHarmony is only interested in taking your money. I joined, was charged a ridiculous amount and within 3 months of joining, I received a total of 6 matches. That's it. I joined another dating site and was inundated with matches! When I wrote to the company expressing my dissatisfaction, their customer service replied with a prewritten response, and when I replied back to them, they ignored me. They simply do not care. This must be how many others feel and would also explain why my activity was so low - their pool of candidates have probably shrunk - no doubt to their lousy business practices and subsequent poor reviews. You can add mine to the pile.

Here are the facts about this company. They have no desire to let you see the product they offer before you buy. I'll be more specific and I'll use a car dealership as an example. If you go to a car dealership to purchase a vehicle, you have the opportunity to search their inventory to first determine if they have the type(s) of vehicle that you want to buy. Eharmony does not allow you to do this, you cannot see the men or women unless you first pay. Let's say you were looking for a Toyota or Honda SUV. You can search the car lots for free in your area to determine if there are either Toyota and Honda SUV's in your specific geographical area. You can then look at the vehicles for free to determine if you wan to move forward with a purchase.
If you are looking specifically for a ** or Latino man or woman to date, Eharmony does not allow the user to search for free their inventory to see if there are indeed any ** or Latino men or women who are members of their site. They first want you to pay for at least 6 months with absolutely no guarantee that they can offer what you are looking for. What other business has this horrible customer service model? You may pay for a minimum 6 month purchase and once you are allowed to search without restrictions, you may discover that there are no men or women that you like on their site yet they have your money and there is nothing you can do to get it back. What they do is make you go through this B.S. 20 minute compatibility test which means absolutely NOTHING. You get to know the person by actually meeting, talking and spending time with them. That compatibility crap is all for show and had zero value for the customer.

If I could give eHarmony a "0", I would. The matches are very limited, not my preferences, and not anyone I would be attracted to. There has to be some physical attraction as well. You go through all these hoops to find a good match, but they don't get your matches right. Trying to communicate to people is worthless, because these people are probably in the same boat as me, and don't use the site anymore, as it is horrible. And that is why no one responds to you.
There is no option to cancel, and when you do get a hold of someone, there is ZERO OPTION TO CANCEL. I tried to do it within the timeline they give you but they come up with some reason why you still must pay. You can not get a refund, and they take your money monthly, even if you do not use the site. Terrible customer service, they do NOT CARE if you are not happy with their services. Other companies will refund your money if you are not 100% satisfied. Not this place. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME PEOPLE!!!

Unlike other dating sites, where you pay a monthly rate and can cancel anytime without penalty, eHarmony requires a contract and will not let you out of it for any reason. They wanted me to give them a lump sum of $312 or $78 a month for four months for a six month subscription. I took the monthly payment option. It was more expensive than Match or Okcupid but I gave it a shot. There were only about five people in my area, none of whom I was interested in. Now mind you, I live in the DC area so there should have been plenty to choose from. Maybe they all were smart enough not to use eharmony.
I called eharmony less than 24 hours after making my $78 payment and that's when I was told I had entered a contract and could not cancel. I called my bank and stopped payment to them. When they were unable to take my money, the aggressive phone calls and emails started. I was even threatened with legal action if I didn't pay off the remaining balance. They have now sent me to collections. If I see them on my credit report, I will dispute it. If I can make even one person decide not to use eharmony, I will be delighted. They are shady as hell. $312 for five people within 50 miles of DC? I don't think so. Eharmony can go to hell. They will never see a dime of money again. You must pay to see your matches because they know if you see your matches upfront that you will never join and pay them your hard-earned money. Let me just say this. When a photo pops up and your head literally flinches back from the visual horror that you have just been exposed to, well, that's not a good sign of the future. I have tried e-Harmony a few times off and on over the years and have always been left feeling very, very disappointed. Scammed and ripped off. For some reason though after maybe a year or so, I think that maybe things may have gotten better or maybe my memory simply just failed me and I try again. I have had maybe 7 dates over the years and met one woman that I really liked. Unfortunately for me she liked me and about 6 other men. There are always three to four more men than women on all dating sites. This is all not e-Harmony's fault.
(By the way, I am no Brad Pitt but I am an above average looking guy, physically fit, highly educated, financially successful, debt free, etc. So it's not like I am an unmarketable loser). My point here is that if you pay to sign up and you are unhappy, disappointed and get absolutely no results or satisfaction from your membership, well that's too bad. You are not going to get a refund. Your money is gone. And if you are paying monthly the pain is even more excruciating. Helplessly watching your money withdrawn from your account each month until your membership is fully paid for and the torture is finally all over.

I didn't know that I would be automatically charged for an entire year and did my best to cancel, but was told that I still had to pay for a year of service even though my niece didn't want it. It was over $200 and I had contacted them the day that I was charged. It was also clear that my niece never even used the first 6 months. By the way, they will only communicate through email and they sometimes don't get back to you for a few weeks and sometimes not at all.
I was then informed that I could transfer the year over to a family member or friend. I talked my mom into trying this and changed everything over to her and then we were informed that the account was blocked. I've emailed them numerous times trying to explain what happened and have them open the account and help me to get it to my mom's name, but they don't get back to me. It's been months that I've paid for now, with no one using this. I'm so frustrated. I thought that this was a reputable company - looks like I was wrong!

eHarmony was the strangest experience I ever had with a dating site. As others have complained, very limited matches, if you want to call them that. But what was so strange was that most of photos of the men looked like the they were asleep, drunk or dead. Seriously. Several had their eyes closed like they were passed out and their mouths open, like someone sleeping or dead. I showed it to a friend of mine and she was shocked and asked what it was. I don't know if someone at eHarmony decided to have a joke at my expense -- and it was expensive.
I had a 6 month membership. I was ready to cancel when it was to expire, but a few days before, they charged me for 6 more months. I called and was told I had not requested for my membership to stop -- not true. She refused to refund me so I filed a claim with BBB. eHarmony then refunded my money. Never again! Beware! By the way, I didn't even meet one person or even get contacted by anyone, especially since there were really no matches.

I have used Match, Zoosk, Bumble and most recently signed up for eHarmony. I am beyond floored at how TERRIBLE eHarmony is compared to the rest of the sites considering it’s way more expensive than all other sites and they force you to sign up for six months minimum. Issues with the service: The site decides who you match with and you only get to see those people. You don’t have the option to search all members.
To make it worse the the majority of members don’t even have a photo so you’re constantly just scrolling because you can’t see what people look like nor do you have the option to filter to only see matches with photos. Seven out of ten matches that you get matched with daily don’t have a photo. Secondly, you can’t access a lot of your settings and preferences through the mobile apps. You have to log in from your computer to access several of the settings. This is ridiculous considering that everybody uses a mobile app and all other sites let you change all your settings on the mobile app.
Lastly and most terrible of all are the issues with billing and their terms & conditions: In the terms and conditions they clearly state that you can request a full refund if you cancel within the first three days. (Keep in mind that the minimum you can sign up for is six months and the price per month is much higher than Match, Zoosk or Bumble). But because there is an option to cancel within 3 days I decided to sign up to see if it was more expensive because it was a better quality dating site.
Within the first day I realized how terrible it was (due to lack of photos and inability to search more members), so I emailed the subscription email address as noted in the terms and conditions to request a full refund. To my surprise the customer service team replied stating that Canadian customers do not have the same option to request a refund within the first 3 days. With their reply, they sent me a link to the terms and conditions. It was the same terms and conditions I read originally and nowhere does it state that the refund policy only applies to American customers. If it’s there, they have hidden it very well which is dishonest and unfair to non-American customers who would of course assume that the refund policy would apply to them as well.
After several unsuccessful emails to their team I filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau and only then did they get back to me to provide an acceptable resolution. They charged me for the first month and cancelled the rest of the remaining months which to me is a fair resolution. However, this only happened after I filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau. To my surprise there was a ton of claims about them. I never write reviews but I decided to do this because I hope it helps someone else avoid this nightmare. They should be ashamed of themselves the way they hide things in their terms and conditions. It’s dishonest and I also think it’s not fair to provide that refund option to all customers.
Their whole gimmick is that they supposedly match you really well because you fill out a large survey. Don’t fall for it. It’s terrible, over priced, horrible customer service and flat out dishonest. I really hope that with all the claims against them through the Better Business Bureau they finally update the terms and conditions to either clearly state that the refund policy is not available to non American customers or better yet that they offer it to ALL customers because that is what an honest business would do.

I am very disappointed with their whole dating app. A lot of red tape to answer silly questions and the dating pool leaves a lot to be desired! Then I get an email saying that I still owe them $270 and I said I am not even using the service anymore. I've already paid $70 for nothing. I could have had a steak dinner, their response was, "Well you still have to pay it and your account is deactivated" and I'm like I don't care, I don't want it anyways, all of their email responses are very generic and they still think that I should pay $270 for something that I am not using after I've already paid $70. I am extremely fit and healthy. I don't need a man but would like to find an equal to share my life with. EHarmony thinks I am best matched with people who have high school educations, mediocre jobs and mostly haven't traveled further than their neighboring city. None of the extremely limited matches looked they they had done any kind of exercise in the past 10 years. Coming back to the algorithms, I am liberal and live in a very blue part of Florida. They flat out told me no and kept referring to the "terms and conditions" instead of trying to help resolve it. I mean it could not have been more 5 minutes after signed up. They refused to help so I called my bank and disputed the charges, they told me I had to close my bank account and open a new one to stop them from continuing to charge me...what a hassle!! However immediately after expiry and for a month I was inundated with emails about matches. This could not have been a coincidence. Like everyone else signing up for a dating site, I was hoping to have a result that was joyous and love-filled. I read the cancellation policy and saw that I could cancel within the first 3 days if it was not for me. Turns out - they meant if I was American and I do have this in writing. The site only provided me with 7 dating options to choose from, and I found none of the men appealing. My preferences are not outlandish as I am open to Any Ethnicity, any height above 159cm and within the same city. It clearly did not take me long to realize there were no options (all of whom are also on the free dating sites), so within MINUTES of my account activation, I tried to cancel and thus began the runaround. I am now being forced to pay a total sum of just under $300 for a service that is not giving me anything in return.
The lack of understanding when speaking to the service representatives appears to be intentionally vacant and unconcerned. The representatives have told me that I need to broaden my preferences and it was eluded to that I need to be more open-minded - I also have this in writing. What is the point of having standards and preferences, if you are going to be asked to remove them?
What started out with optimism and high hopes is fast turning into a nightmare for me, as $300 is a lot of money to throw away these days. It makes me question if this is a sign that I should not be attempting to find love yet. Imagine that - a pay dating site that is acting as a deterrent for me. At the end of the day, I am quite disappointed in eHarmony and I would like my money back. That won't happen, so this is going to be the first post of many, on as many platforms as I can find. If I can prevent one other person from being robbed, then it will have been worth the effort. To all the other single hopefuls out there - I sincerely wish you all love and happiness.

You would think an ethical/transparent company would show your exactly how much you’re paying before you send them money.
I tried to contact customer services right away to cancel, not only did it take them two days for them to get back to me, they said that they were unable to cancel the payment, because I didn’t live in a State where the 3 day cancellation policy was in effect, and also due to the fact that they didn’t want to or have to. Where’s the customer service and customer loyalty? How can they hide the total of the price before checking out? I entered the online dating world having read reviews of all the major dating sites. eHarmony was consistently rated in the top 3. My experience has been that people truly get what they pay for, so I applied this to my selection of eHarmony over the competition with my initial choice of dating services. After completing the evaluation I reviewed those who rated above 100 on their compatibility scale. There were 2 that rated above 120, and I reached out to both. Of the 2 I reached out to, one responded with interest, the other politely informed me she was focusing on another. The person who responded with interest and I met, had a nice dinner together, and have been together ever since. I connected with her and began our journey on the very first day of using eHarmony!
I was skeptical of the compatibility index, and the actual compatibility of two humans meeting after taking the evaluation. Honestly, I have not had such a great connection with a partner in my life. The ability to openly communicate is great for us. I attribute this to the close compatibility for openness and communication we both shared on the evaluation. In my personal experience, and in the geographic region I live, I give eHarmony very high marks and would recommend the service to anyone seeking a serious love interest and life partner.

I have fell victim as many other customers that feel tricked into the length of time they’re being put on a subscription. Once you get another enormous charge you figure out that they have taken it upon themselves to select the subscription and when you realize it they give you all hell and zero opportunity to pay for what you’ve used and to cancel out.
They even go as far to have a collection agency come after you after your bank and PayPal have dealt with them along with your multiple letters. They don’t care about. They rather fight you to pay however many hours to deal with an unhappy customer and in the long run they have already spent more trying to get a measly hundred dollars out of a customer rather than just saying, "Sorry you are unhappy and we can correct this mistake next time and maybe you would come back." They absolutely can cancel a subscription, they choose not to and in the long run they spend more time sending people to tell you they can’t and answering emails and better business reports than just canceling the subscription.
It is the only dating site that I have noticed that had almost 0 matches in a very large city that I live in. I don’t know how they’re not being sued more they already have been sued for sending people to collections. There are many other dating sites that are easy to opt out of and have better matches. I live in California and my parameters were 10 year age difference within 30 miles, which resulted in very few matches. I was disappointed with this app because quite frankly, I watched some pretty convincing reviews on YouTube. They are LYING to you. The biggest problem with Eharmony is the lack of matches. The site is so expensive that no one joins. It’s a ghost town. Eharmony tells you that you will get new matches daily. But this is false. And if you try to claim otherwise, they place the blame on you by constantly telling you to expand your search preferences. Well, I did that and still no daily results. The only preferences I had were to be not above 4 years my age and a distance no greater than 100 miles. And I think that’s pretty reasonable to ask.
I tried emailing Eharmony about this problem and they still haven’t gotten back to me. It’s been over a month. Even if you do find a match you like, they all will most likely not respond to you, and I believe that’s because most are using the free version, which doesn’t allow them to respond to messages. Word of advice: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. THIS IS A GARBAGE APP AND I WISH I HAD READ THE REVIEWS FIRST.
Reviewed Jan. 23, 2022
The deception starts by them first asking for your preferences for a match. Based on what you said you like, they start sending you fake profiles and pictures of what you like. Then one or more of those fake profiles start sending you messages and then the eHarmony website sends you an email message that you have messages from one or more of the people you like. However, you cannot read those messages until you make a payment. Their prices are ridiculously high and all payments are non-refundable even if you want to cancel the service on the same day you make the payment after realizing that the messages you got were from fake profiles that do not reply to your messages or disappear after you sign up.
They have no phone number or support on their website. You may be able to send them an email but don't expect any good response in any timely fashion. I only got an email response after I submitted a dispute of the charge with my credit card company. Their response was "We don't have phone support but you can email us. Please read our policy at this link on refunds.... There are no refunds after enrolling in the agreement."
On your credit card statement, you will see a (800) number for eHarmony customer care as required by Visa or Mastercard to address disputes. However, the phone number is fake and it is out of service. Apparently Mastercard and Visa are not aware of this. When you explore the website, there is no link to cancel your subscription or delete your profile as they are in the business or gathering inactive or old profiles to present to unsuspecting people.
Don't get fooled by the lower monthly prices if you choose a 3 month, 6 month or 2 year subscription. Their scam is to charge you all the money for the entire or half the subscription period upfront so they get all or most of your money before you realize it a scam service after you start using it (which is unrefundable). In other words they charge you a large sum of money upfront for future service in order to take your money and then have the liberty of giving you unsatisfactory service with no recourse. Save your money and don't get fooled by the fake profiles and fake messages.

Having looked at the T&Cs it states I have to cancel within 14 days in writing - not the in app option. I have therefore appealed for some compassion due to my mistake and offered to pay for the time I utilized the app pro rata and the personality services used. It should be customer don't care. Thought I'd give it another shot with the new year, hoping eharmony had improved its site with all the negative reviews. They haven't. It is worse than ever.
Tried to purchase a 6 month subscription to test it out. I couldn't. Supposedly there was a 35% discount for six months. Tried this one, showed a 3 month subscription in my details, but I couldn't send messages (the receiver didn't get them though they showed in my message center) and my profile could not be accessed via a match search with specific details. (Had a friend try to find me using their profile. They couldn't.) Eharmony is a fraudulent company and should be closed down. Tried to go in and change the subscription from auto renew, following the help instructions, can't be done. Had my bank deny the charges. EHarmony will take your money but not provide a good service that actually works. Their customer care is a joke.

EHarmony send profiles of men with no photo about 75 % of the time, send photos of horrible looking men, the men had nothing in common with my selections, the customer service department are all rude and do not respond to complaints. They actually sent a photo of a man that was a retired dish washer and looked like a serial killer. I'm reporting them to the Federal Trade Commision and the BBB. DO NOT JOIN!!!

eHarmony.com proved to be the absolute worst experience online of any online dating site. Prior to becoming a premium member, the site displayed pictures of prospective matches, though many were listing that were expired. After paying the premium, interestingly enough, at least half of the profiles had NO pictures, many of the listings once again expired. eHarmony's success obviously relies on its heavy advertising but actual members quickly realize that the company cannot live up to its promises. "A new dissatisfied customer every 14 minutes" might be a more adequate slogan for the company.
The customer service team, upon being contacted, repeatedly responded with scripted emails, never acknowledging the actual concerns. Now, in a desperation to connect with a wider audience, eHarmony's commercials promote the emphasis of its catering to gays and lesbians. Thanks to eHarmony, every household with children sees guys kissing guys & women kissing women. The message conveyed to these receptive children is that this is all quite natural. What a shameful organization. It should be banned.

Once you do, they continue to bill you 104 bucks a month in perpetuity. Once you "cancel" your subscription, they still have you for 1 to 2 years subscription. The only way to fight this is to dispute the charges every month. This is the worst dating platform I've ever used. All predicated on the "christian" dating alternative. Then I read the reviews and saw that not only me had the feeling that they play with the numbers, and manipulate the actions on your profile. The saddest part that I did find two very promising matches, both were very excited about me, too, and then one day I saw that they didn't see anymore my messages. As some other reviewers have mentioned, I'm sure that I was scammed by the company, in the form of them creating fake profiles to lure me into buying an expensive subscription. Once I created my profile, I got messages from two eligible men (professional, educated, nice looking), which of course I couldn't respond to without paying hundreds for the subscription service.
After I bought the service, these men disappeared from the site. After that, I was only matched with men that were nothing like what I'd asked to be matched with: they were not professionals or educated (higher education was my top priority request for a match), looked too old for me, sloppy and were inarticulate. And of course, eHarmony's annoying matching system doesn't allow you to search through all available potential partners yourself, you have to passively be matched by their computer algorithms (which don't take your requests into consideration). That contrast between the men I was matched with before paying, and the men I was matched with after paying, was too stark to be a coincidence: I have no doubt that those initial matches were fakes & used as bait to bring customers in. Because I was scammed, I disputed the charges with my credit card company.

Their "personality profile" matched me with terrible matches and very few to choose from, so I requested to cancel my membership and a full refund 12/16/21. They denied my request for a refund, only providing refunds to people within 3 days if you live in one of these 11 states: Directly from their contract - Arizona, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island and Wisconsin!!!
WHY I wonder? Probably because those states have a law that allows consumers out of any agreement within 72 hours. Every Consumer in the US should have the right to a refund within at least 3 days of joining if not 7!! People need time to review how things work on dating sites like eharmony and if you don't like it, it's only fair to give people a refund within a reasonable period of time. eHarmony is not reasonable or fair in any way.
In other words, eharmony is gaming the system and refused me a refund after just 2 days of membership, leaning on their legal terms and conditions because I don't live in one of the designated 11 states. All US consumers should be treated the same, offering everyone at least a 3 day refund policy - no questions asked. I exchanged several emails with them and they just stonewalled me.
This no refund practice takes advantage of consumers and they provide no clear warning of no refund policy which is buried by their lawyers in the overwhelmingly long agreement they give you. Why read any of these agreements? Smart companies treat consumers fairly and don't fall back on the letter of the law of their long, complex agreements they know nobody reads. Additionally eharmony was recently forced to pay $2.2 Million for its underhanded auto renewal practices which you sign up for unwittingly when you join. These kind of unscrupulous business practices are what make consumers cynical. Shame on eharmony.
I’ve used Match.com in the past, tried it again recently but didn’t like the new setup so I quit Match.com after a month and they offered me a full refund. That is fair! I might even try them again in the future, but Never eharmony. Never! It is only fair to all consumers to offer a refund within a reasonable period of time 7-14 days, so you can see what you are getting into. Not so with eharmony. Once you give them your credit card - like it or not, kiss your money goodbye. By the way, I Never review companies online. If eHarmony is "the nation's top rated dating site", I'd hate to see the worst. I'm an a decent looking 47-year old guy that hasn't had much luck with dating in general, partially because of my location, as well as my work schedule. I'd had a bit of luck with a few other free sites, but hadn't tried anything in several years. I got moderate attention on those others, but it became boring after a while, so I deleted. I finally got a wild hair to see what eHarmony was like, so I nearly completed my profile, put on a few pics, and decided to sign up. I wasn't particularly happy with the lofty charge, however, I had heard good things about the site, and at that price and what they claim, I figured it would be worth a shot.
I had 33 pages of potential "matches", and after about getting through no more than 10, I began to wonder what I'd gotten myself into. On top of not having a phenomenal selection of females that attracted my interest, or caught my eye, few were within a 60-mile radius. One girl (Andrea?) sent me a message. She wasn't bad, so I replied and we talked several hours before finally exchanging numbers. The way "she" talked was a bit odd, but I didn't really think anything of it. That was on a Friday, we talked a bit on Saturday, but by Sunday, Andrea wasn't replying to anything I'd sent.
I decided I'd check out the phone number. Imagine the surprise I got when I saw the number was not registered to an Andrea, but rather an Andrew, instead. I'd deleted the number out of my phone, so I was ready to move on from the strange incident. I continued searching matches, and found one that looked and sounded like somebody good, despite 60 miles away, so I sent her a "smile". Moments later, this girl that was rated a 114 as a match, supposedly sent me a message saying she didn't think we'd be good, and good bye. I looked at my visitors and it hadn't even shown her as one, nor did I see the profile again.
After one week of little action and peculiar occurrences, I marked to not renew my subscription, and hid my profile. I was frustrated enough to send the email they'd sent me for their "matches" (none interested me or were within reasonable driving distance) to my spam folder. I also started working on an email saying I wished to cancel my subscription, I didn't feel their product was worth the price I paid, and I'd delete my profile. Marking their emails as spam must've erased me from existence on that site. I decided I'd keep my profile hidden and still look around, but I wasn't even able to get access codes so I could.
What's more is the email I'd sent, went unanswered for four days when the site says it shouldn't take more than 48 hours. They told me my subscription would not be renewed, they were sorry I found their site unsatisfactory, but I still had to pay for six more months totaling $269 and I'd be on until November of 2021, much to my chagrin. They also said that their emails had come back as spam, therefore, they had blocked sending me anything. Geez, if only all spam email worked like eHarmony's supposedly does. My email must've worked. I was able to get my codes needed to sign in if I want to look around, but I have to bite the bullet and finish paying out even though I don't want to. I didn't bother replying back to the email, I knew it was a no-win situation.
One immediate knock against the site is say you find someone and no longer have any need for it, you're still stuck paying a monthly fee and are an active member. That makes extra work for the subscriber having to hide their profile and possibly explain to inquiring parties. I did some reading of reviews for the site and I, too, wonder if they don't have employees posing as subscribers to possibly dupe members into gaining confidence in the site? I also find their "matching process" to be very shoddy and questionable. All in all, I will NEVER, or advise anyone to use eHarmony if you're hoping to find a good mate. Like many others have advised, it's a serious waste of time and money for a substandard selection of females from the male side in this location.
Never again will I pay for a dating site subscription. I'd seriously think long and hard about joining a dating site that isn't free, if they're actually available in the present time. eHarmony was certainly not worth $2.69, much less the money it had siphoned from me for a monthly charge. Something else shady about the site is you might not see what you need to do to cancel your subscription until it's too late.

I used eHarmony after reading some reviews and decided to give it a try. I created my profile, gave plenty of details and used most of the character limits that it imposes.
1) You are forced to buy for 6 months or longer; the price is steep. There is no monthly option.
2) All the members in my immediate area had not been active for months; a detail eharmony doesn't care about;
3) When I asked for help they said "add more detail to your profile" -- I was at my character limit for my profile and couldn't add more details. And if the objective is to create a relationship, then the other party should be asking for more information. They also suggested widening the distance I am willing to accept -- that is not very feasible for members with children and careers. Plus, the other party has to be willing to accept it.
4) You have to pay to send and receive messages -- see earlier comments about subscription.
5) I had two people that responded -- one decided the 40 miles that separated was too far for her; the other eharmony didn't allow messages to after a week (she was a paying member and had not violated any guidelines during my conversations).
6) If I had actually had a date from eharmony my review might be more positive, but I did not have a single date, did not meet anybody and didn't even get to meet anybody in person. And I did more than just send "likes" or "hearts" -- I took the time to craft questions and comments about the prospective users I wanted to meet.
7) You are forced to provide certain details that might matter, but not allowed to choose other corresponding details that might also matter.
I was extremely displeased with my experience with Eharmony. I requested my money back, but as I was outside the three days I was then forced to pay for the entire 6 months. It was a very bad experience and Eharmony should not be used by anybody. I'm not requesting money back, I just don't recommend Eharmony for anybody. I'd give negative stars if I could.

I'm a man looking for a lady, Most ladies on the this website have series separation problems and most other ladies are fake 100-%. They are just there to give the client that's me feel that I'm actually meeting my dream girl. I did catch a few lady workers out that is so fake and unfair. It truly is a dreadful site, after a while being on eHarmony it didn't take me long to work this company out and how they make loads of money from us vulnerable people. PLEASE NOT THEY WILL NOT REFUND MY MONEY.

You see eHarmony commercials wherein normal everyday men and women talk about meeting someone special, compatible, to connect with. You think that could be you if you PAY for eHarmony. It won't! eHarmony is a well-designed and highly advertised SCAM. Toss $65 out the window as you drive. Watch it blow out of reach. Do this for six months. That's your experience when you PAY for eHarmony. YOU'RE THROWING MONEY AWAY! Ask eHarmony members how their credit cards continues to be charged even after their membership term ends. Ask them about eHarmony's unresponsive Customer Service Dept. Look, enough of us have been scammed. Don't do this to yourself.

I got an email from eHarmony stating that I received an email from a possible "date." I was a non paying subscriber at that time. They reached out to me...Now, I was curious to this person so I unfortunately paid. The person writing was not of a high caliber and in less than 2 days got silly emails from other guys and way too far away to date. I wrote to eHarmony as you can't call them. They wrote back twice that I should date "out of state, out of country" and change my choices??? Huh....out of state, out of country especially during covid-19? I will be writing to their CEO directly and stop all future payments. I do not travel out of state, out of country and meet non suited men. This is a liability to my well being.
eHarmony does not care about your dating or finding a partner. It is just about money and way too much money. I do better on Match.com or Zoosk. (SP?)... Think twice before joining a dating service that is too expensive and does not provide the great customer service they state they do...nor finding you a date or partner. Thank you.

This is a terrible website. Very deceitful. Go elsewhere. They say there is a three day window to cancel, but there isn't. Barely anyone to date, expensive. Total waste of my money and time. I find better quality people for free on Tinder, and that's a ** site too.

I purchased the service only because I understood that I could cancel within 3 days. I realized I needed to cancel the very next day after I purchased, but it turns out that they allow 3-day cancellation for people in few states only! I feel deceived and misled, they should not advertise the 3-day cancellation if it does not apply nationally!!! I tried to go through my bank but they couldn't help either. I have no desire to use a service of such a dishonest company and so I basically threw over $400 out of the window. I will not recommend this to anyone.

Let me just start off by saying that I can appreciate an attempt at bringing Christian singles together, it's rough out there. However, eHarmony has got to have some of the WORST business practices when it comes to customer service. First foremost, the subscription cost is straight robbery but if there was a potential of finding love then you really couldn't put a price on that right? Except, the quality of matches is terrible, it's slim pickings and not even remotely aligned with what I'm looking for. Not even close! Secondly, their billing system isn't easily accessible or transparent.
You CANNOT cancel your payments once you've signed up. You won't have visibility to your payment history either, you have to reach out to customer service (another issue all in itself). Then, they started billing me an entire week earlier after two months. Customer service doesn't give you clarity other than the fact that you CANNOT cancel payments. Please make sure you do the one thing that you do have control over and turn off auto-renew within the settings of your account ASAP. I hope this rescues you from entering into a messy relationship with eHarmony. I'll be praying that you find love organically! God is good, always.

There were very few opportunities to try to make a connection within the eHarmony dating site platform in the UK. When I say "very few" I am talking under ten chances to start any form of dialogue during a six month period. It was a rare occurrence for someone to view my profile information. In isolation, my experience with eHarmony could be put down to poor profile presentation or substandard photos. This however is not true in my case. I used the eHarmony site in tandem with both Hinge and Match.com dating sites. With both Hinge and Match.com I had "very many" opportunities to make connections. With both these sites my profile was visited many, many times on an ongoing basis. Both sites involved me in several communications via text, lots by telephone and some via video link. Hinge and Match.com were stimulating enjoyable experiences always delivering new and exciting prospects.
In comparison, eHarmony failed to deliver. eHarmony's excitement level was zero, enjoyment level was zero, effectiveness level was zero. eHarmony is clearly not fit for purpose. eHarmony scored no dates after six months while actively using the site as opposed to several dates from Match.com after two months and even more via Hinge after three months. The eHarmony site may work in the USA but it does not work in the UK. There are very, very few female members and this means there are very, very low chances of making a contact. When you read about eHarmony's success rate be mindful that it does not apply to the UK. In the UK the eHarmony dating site is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.

Eharmony is expensive. But I knew that when I signed up. My choice. The RIP-OFF part of my experience was when my subscription was about to expire. I googled how to cancel my subscription before it auto-renews. Then I got on the website to do just that. (They don't have a customer service phone number.) But when I cancelled, they offered a $20/month, cancel anytime option. I decided to go for it.

When you create an account, fake accounts start sending you messages. As soon as you pay for a subscription, they disappear. This website is a scam, don't use it and save your time. Shame on the owner of this app and on the people who work there.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS SO-CALLED DATING SITE!! They come so close to a line of actually stealing your hard earned money. I am sure they had legal experts devise a contract/s so that even if you take them to court (which you would not do for a crappy $150) that you would lose anyway. These customer service reps probably have to leave their morals at the front door when they report for their shifts. All this company does is collect your money. They provide just the very bare basics enough to legally show they provide the service that you pay for.
I joined in Aug 2021, it is now Nov 3 2021. I have had only two matches since I joined and it cost me $140. My subscription expires at the end of Dec 2021. The two matches I could not even communicate with because they were not premium members so they could not answer my messages. I live out in the boondocks in my state and it is hard for me to meet people so I figured I would use this site. I am not a social butterfly and figured this site would at least give me some results. NOT!! This company takes advantage of people that have hard times finding someone to date for whatever reason. Most people are probably down and out and like me after reading what I thought I would be getting for my money end up signing and paying and paying and paying and paying for NOTHING!!
This company should be closed by the US Attorney General's office and taken to court and sued big time!! I cannot understand after my experience and seeing from these reviews that so many people are dissatisfied with eHarmony that they are still in business at all and have not been closed down. There are so many free online dating sites out there. Yes, you have to watch who you meet but the same thing on eHarmony. Just because they are an eHarmony member does not make them safe to meet in person. Again, save your hard earned money. Take a look at some of the free dating/matching sites out there instead of using this fake ** dating site. Having so many negative reviews on Consumer Affairs has to tell you something about this company.

This service is way overpriced. I have had one date from the site and he was already involved with someone and he continues to be on the site. I'm matched with men who won't respond or who are currently dating someone. I'm available but they are just looking to stack their deck. I complained but to no satisfaction. I am not satisfied with my choices and one man was extremely rude to me. Biggest waste of money and time.

I signed up for this service and completed the questionnaire they provide. It is totally ineffectual for matching to like-minded individuals. So you will have to rely solely upon whatever each individual chooses to mention about themselves. My matches were totally not anything like people I would be looking to meet. And most were located a long way away from where I live.
I cancelled my paid subscription within a week of purchase only to find the company refused to provide a refund for months I will not be using their services! The app itself is pretty awful. Information is badly set out and in need of a serious upgrade. As there are so many (better) apps now you'll find your selection of matches extremely limited with small grainy pictures hidden in their profile. That's if you can get into the app at all. Customer service will just continue to tell you to uninstall and reinstall the app over and over if you're having difficulties. When you undoubtedly try to cancel your expensive subscription you will be declined repeatedly and probably eventually give up.

Expensive membership - they do not screen or do as much as other sites to protect you from scammers who apparently love this site. The personality profile limits choices and the scammers use it to find people high on charity and empathy. It is not conceivably a valid practice to match people up with one measure and it limits free choice.

Made an account and for you to even see people you match with or message them you have to pay for premium. Signed up thinking it would only be £6 a month and they charge £160 saying that they made me a personality profile that they send you by email. Obviously asked for a refund and they get to keep £65 for only providing me less than a day of what I actually signed up for which was the dating app and said that it was the cost of the personality profile done at the start (which is some questions about what would you do in different types of scenarios). They call themselves a dating app but is in reality a personality quiz profile. Is ridiculous, the t&C's that they held against me as reason for no full refund was written with manipulative writing and confusing. I would sue them if I had the time or money, someone definitely should. It's misleading, disappointing and ridiculous. So yeah, avoid like the damn plague!

This service may only work if you live in a large city or densely populated area. For us that live outside the city, it is worthless and ridiculously expensive. I had only 2 matches relatively close to me, the rest were anywhere from 3 to 5 hours away. Just imagine, driving 10 hours to date someone. That's not dating. That's a vacation! Further, no reasoning is accepted by this company. Once you sign, you pay, no matter what. Forget cancellations, it doesn't matter if the product does not fit you or does not apply to your lifestyle. Don't waste your money, find other alternatives or a more consumer-friendly service.

Ask for refund within 2 hours of signing up, be denied because they literally do not care about you and only want your money. There are very few profiles on this site. No one likes or used eHarmony anymore. The only decent thing I’ve ever heard about this company comes from The Secret Life of Walter Mitty with Ben Stiller. Otherwise eHarmony is a total joke! I joined, it gave me 3 days to cancel, I thought well 3 days is not enough time to give a chance, so on the 4th day I cancelled. I got the subscription for $160+ and it was going to take out $41 over 4 months so I agreed. Cancelled my membership and now they want to still charge even though I can talk to anyone I can only view now. Can’t message, so I’m stuck with a site that really only paired me up with separated men and men that are 5’5”. No offense I’m 5’8” and just not comfortable with dating someone shorter than me. But the point is, they don’t have many good matches so I basically just gave my money away. Long time ago they use to not take people who were separated because I was one of them, now they don’t care. Ethical my **! He still has the possibility of going back to his wife, DUH! So now I’m out $160 with no date in sight. I’m joining Match there’s a reason they're #1.
