I joined Harmony on December 30, 2022. I quit 2 hours later. I got cold feet. I'm a senior female with health issues. I've decided to live by myself. I figured by canceling within 24 hours maximum (which it wasn't at 2 hours) Anyway, they will not cancel my monthly plan even though it was by December 30th. This company is a ripoff and it doesn't follow its own rules. Be careful joining! Buyer beware. I wish I had a way of their response letter being posted so you can hear how stupid they sound. I don't have access to the account by my choice and I have to pay monthly fees until Dec 31, 2023. There's other dating sites to go to. I suggest you do.

My frustrating with eHarmony was with their automatic renewal process and the inability to cancel it. Once I was able to get someone from their customer service area to respond it was too late to cancel. They renewed at much higher amount than I had originally paid and were not willing to negotiate a shorter time frame nor adjust the amount. Horrible business! I do not recommend using them at all.

They are crooks and liars and stealing people's money. It’s awful. It’s a catch 22 and the collection agency is waiting in the sidelines to Badger you for money. If nobody would sign up they would go bankrupt. Let’s all try to put them out of business then it’s game over for them. End of story.

There was once a time when eHarmony enjoyed a good reputation. It was even viewed as a ‘Christian’ dating site. I have been trying to get a refund since I discovered the site had no users in my area. I live within 25 miles of 2/3 of the population of this state, therefore ~1.5 million women within 30 miles. As soon as I realized there were only 3 ‘profiles’ within 50 miles, I began trying to withdraw from eHarmony. None of those 3 profiles had a photo; and as time went on, none of those three ‘profiles’ were responsive. Who knows if those profiles were ever actual persons. No other profiles appeared.
eHarmony would not refund, despite language on their website that made me think I had four days to check it out. I tried stopping charges from Paypal, the payment provider, but somehow eHarmony has that jammed. No matter when I call, it is always ‘too soon’ or ‘too late’ to stop the charges. I could never seem to customer service at Paypal to understand the situation. eHarmony has devised a way to entice victims with vague assurances, and then trap clients financially. This exemplifies the mentality of a predator, a psychopath, whose greed outweighs any concern for who gets hurt.
Imagine you were hungry. You went into a sandwich shop, you saw a sandwich you wanted, you had enough money to buy the sandwich, and you gave them the money, and they gave you a sandwich. That is the definition of voluntary trade. While eHarmony advertises their prowess at finding the right sandwich, in the end, they did not even show me the picture of a sandwich. eHarmony showed me the equivalent of three silhouettes. There was nothing to indicate that there had ever been any actual people on the site.
I finally found a dating site ‘rating’ site that wasn’t owned or controlled by the dating site industry. Every eHarmony review I read was another story like mine. At least I didn’t lose $500, as some people did. But I’m not willing to blow $100. To add another outrage, eHarmony now has some collections agency pursuing me. The right thing for eHarmony to do is to refund my money, as I asked within 48 hours of my great error of trusting eHarmony and making a payment. The next right thing eHarmony should do is stop pursuing me over payments for its worthless ‘service.’

eHarmony's business practices are deceptive and meet the definition of fraud and scams. They allow the ability to create a profile for free but lock all meaningful functionality behind a subscription. What this does is creates an influx of inactive profile matches presented to you that can't be interacted with even if you've paid for a subscription yourself. They only provide subscriptions in the form of 6 months, 12 months, and 2 years, likely because anyone who joined with a monthly subscription and realized the deceptive practices would cancel their services. If you're unfortunate enough to fall into the trap of paying for a subscription then they will continue to take your money with no opportunity to cancel the service until all payments have been made. Save your money and efforts, don't engage with eHarmony and their fraud.

I agree with every other negative review written here for eHarmony. I think they are struggling in their ability to get signups. My age group (65) is a wasteland. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a class-action suit filed against them soon. That's what happened with "It's Just Lunch" for the same reasons. Perhaps it's better for younger people. But it should not accept members if they can't deliver what they promise and what is reasonable. Anyone here a lawyer?

I signed up for eHarmony dating app 2 years ago with high hopes. I met one person but overall was not impressed by the app. I ended up using other apps and not using this one as time went on. I eventually got an email from eharmony saying that I owed $373 because I did not turn off an "auto-renewal" toggle when I signed up. I immediately emailed them back and told them I didn't realize I was on auto renewal and to please discontinue my membership. They said I still owed the $373 and that they would take me to court if I didn't pay. I research this issue online and found numerous other people having the same issue and even a court case in CA. I did pay them but I will never pay anything to this company again. Worst app I have ever used.

EHarmony is absolutely horrible - I do NOT recommend. You will find the same users as any other platform. Relatively speaking, few active users, no unique features, and all for an exorbitant price tag. Additionally, they will NOT offer a refund even if you contact within three business days, unless required by state law. Other major platforms allow for that flexibility. It's a strong reflection of the quality of service if it can't stand on its own merits.

Aside from charging me the atrocious price of a *discounted* membership, eHarmony is sending me the worst "matches" possible. I'm a writer, and it seems like almost all of my matches are uneducated, don't use full sentences or punctuation, and only want to meet in person without having demonstrated any communication skills whatsoever. Why would eHarmony consider them good matches for me?
Early on, I met someone who seemed like a decent match. He had a college degree, lived fairly close to me, and was decent-looking. His grammar was ok - better than others I've seen at least. We started chatting and he seemed nice, but he refused to talk to me on the phone first before meeting in person. I looked up his social media account and found him to be almost a decade older than what he was pretending on his profile. I also saw absolutely no evidence of the job he claimed to have, and when I asked about it, he changed the subject.
I consider myself open-minded and willing to give people a chance even though I do have my preferences. The problem is, these matches are so far out of my level of compatibility that it would be more than just "settling" if I considered them. All I want is an imperfect but decent man who can communicate and isn't intensely lazy and after one thing. The few decent-seeming guys never seem to respond to me. I guess since there are so few, they can have anyone they want. I put care into my profile and photos, so why can't I get the same in return?

There were on tons of other sites, just not eHarmony. You can't cancel, you have to pay for an entire year and don't know it's worthless until you pay for it. You can't see pictures until you pay. The compatibility matching is dumb. They don't take into account looks, religion or politics. I'm relatively attractive, make decent money and they're suggesting I'm compatible with a man 16 years older that's unemployed and on disability and was very unattractive.
The worst part is other sites require 2 people to like each other before they can message. Not eHarmony. All the creepy guys can message me. My inbox was flooded with creepy thumbs up. For reasons I cannot go into I organised eHarmony subscription for my son. I am no expert at it however I needed to give him a prompt or I should say I felt I was doing him a favour. I signed up thinking it was a monthly debit however the trickery in their marketing I did not realise it was a one off deduction for over AUD 400!!!! I was shocked to see this so I tried and tried and tried to find a way to contact them without getting the generic robot response. When I did I was told, "Sorry no refund," even though my son adamantly refused to take on the subscription.
I asked them, "What if he met the girl of his dreams in the first month?" Why can't I cancel subscription instead of hide it. I would not want my partner having a profile hidden or not while we are together. TO me there is no commitment then. My son did not even use the site nor will he ever and I will never see my money again. The point of this story is they are scammers and will take your money and too bad if you meet someone or for some reason you are unable to use....You never see it again. eHARMONY IS A TOTAL RIP OFF AND A SCAM.

eHarmony's marketing practices are designed to coerce people to pay for an expensive subscription. They blur out other accounts initially that allegedly try to contact you and you cannot see them or communicate unless you pay an expensive subscription fee that runs far over what most other sites charge, and they have no short term options to try to see if you like the site. Once you have done so and the accounts are fully visible you find out that there are hardly any accounts in your metro area which in my case is the San Francisco Bay Area in California with over 7 million people. When I seek matches in my area I get fewer than 20 people in spite of the fact that this is a hugely populated metropolitan area. Almost all my matches were over 100 miles away. There were many of those 19 matches where there was no picture at all, and the rest were not compatible in education, income, or any other interests.
I had already paid for 1 year, and when I cancelled after just two weeks, their customer service team said I would owe them for the remainder of the annual subscription, even after deleting my account. I have used other dating sites and have never had this issue before - where there simply are barely any people in my area in the same age range and economic/education level as me. I am an attractive and athletic woman and I've had no trouble finding agreeable matches on other sites in the past. eHarmony's response to my complaint is that I should widen my preferences for acceptable matches. But I've already widened these aside from the fact that I don't want to date someone long distance! This was not clearly advertised at the time of purchase.
This is extremely unprofessional, coercive, and predatory. They can't deliver what they say they will, and I'm paying almost $200 for a site I can't use. I complained and received a response that did not answer my questions, nor were they at all willing to stop charging me for the remainder of the year. I think their responses are all the same for anyone asking for a refund. DON'T use this dating site!!

eHarmony is a scam. They do not have the quality or quantity of matches you would expect from a pay dating site. Honestly, the free ones like OKcupid or Bumble are much better. They do not let you quit the service and they try to pursue the entire term of payment whether it be 3 months or 6 months. I had to cancel my credit card and I explained I wasn't going to pay for a service that doesn't provide what it says it will. So I decided to create a profile. Plenty of Fish and OKCupid allow you like 10,000 characters to say everything about yourself that you want, so I was really surprised that eHarmony only allows 500 characters. Their profile header is "tell us about yourself and what you want". Really? I need to tell you all that in just 500 characters?? So I tried my best to make bullet points, but the site doesn't allow you to display things in paragraph form, so when I was done I came back and all my bullet points were mashed up together.
Finally, it doesn't let you search by radius, meaning if I did pay the OUTSTANDING fee for 6 months of use, there's no way to limit my search to the towns and cities nearby. Some of the sample matches (blurred out of course) were already 5 hours drive away from me. Kind of amazed they're this bad, given how much they advertise and how well known they are. Plenty of Fish and OKCupid are completely free (POF even allows livestreaming), and allow so much more.

I took the “free” compatibility test, thinking it would lead to the “free” platform. 2 clicks later, I ended up paying for what I thought was a $19.95 thing. ONLY when I checked my bank did I see that $418.95 was charged!!! I have emails confirming that the automatic renewal is OFF and that this crap service will expire 8/20/2023. They confirmed ALSO that my account will be deleted in 10 days. I won’t even be able to log into the site, plus, will not receive match suggestions (…which also as others have stated are nowhere close to my actual preferences!).

Eharmony is the worst! They only offer 6 month, 12 month or 24 month subscriptions, which are EXTREMELY overpriced. If the goal is to meet “the one”? why only offer such long subscriptions? What happens if you meet someone in month one? You continue to pay for services you aren’t using. Eharmony is a SCAM! I expected the matches to be better due to the long questionnaire at startup. However, all my matches have been OPPOSITE of what I am looking for! I’m convinced they purposefully give you bad matches so that you are forced to stay on the app longer and pay them more. Also, the features are substandard to the other apps. Sorting of matches isn’t as specific as bumble or hinge. You can only sort by distance in 15 mi increments; with other apps you can go by 1 mile. Also, after contacting support (only via email fyi and more than 48 hours to respond), I was still unable to get a refund.
I pointed out all these reasons as to why I should get a refund and they only replied with chunks of their “terms and conditions” which are written in a way to cover their ** when their subpar services fail. AND, I was being harassed by one of my matches and when I reported to eharmony, they took 4 days to respond! What if the match had somehow found me in person or via internet and continued to harass me after I blocked them? I got an email from eharmony saying I should use caution when communicating with matches and, again, they quoted their terms and agreements about how they can’t confirm the quality of matches. What a joke. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS SCAM!

I'm not allowed to "Cancel" my membership, only to unsubscribe from updates and messages. So, I guess I'm stuck with paying $34.21 per month until my "Automatic Renewal" is cancelled on 08/07/2023. Doing the math, that is about $410 for nothing during the next year. There were very few contacts made within 60 miles, and the few women that did actually respond would not agree to meet, even at a neutral, public location, i.e. a restaurant. I joined eHarmony thinking it would have a better client base and results due to the lengthy application and matching process. I was extremely disappointed to find this was not the case at all. I'm educated with a good job and very active. I was really hoping to find someone in a similar place in their life and a partner to mountain bike, rock climb and share other similar activities. Unfortunately, it seemed that I had very, very few matches (compared to other dating sites) and when I did they were unemployed or disabled. If there were good matches they didn't respond or would only send a smile and compliment things on my profile... very frustrating.
I was presented with very few good matches... that is until my subscription ended. Then, all of a sudden, there are multiple matches and, of course, I can't see pictures, but many of the profiles sound potential. I then find that these members can still see me and message me, but I'm not allowed to message them back and I cannot even view their messages after the first couple (they are blurred out). It's clear what their model is... Better matches are presented to members who have not paid for a membership in order to entice them to pay for a membership. While you are a member you will not see good matches, those only come once your subscription is expired to entice you to pay again. I think this model is not only obvious but also deceptive and unfair. eHarmony is ultimately a scam... Shame on you eHarmony!

I signed up for a year of their service yet continued to be charged after the year was up even though I had unsubscribed only months after initially subscribing. This also happened to someone else I know and I thought it was a mistake on their part such that they forgot to uncheck some box in the settings. However, I am sure that I changed all my account setting to being unsubscribed and am now in the same situation.
I contacted eHarmony about this issue and received the same reply that my friend had. They said that they'd make a "special exception" and cancel future payments but they wouldn't refund what had already been charged. I'm referring to what they charged BEYOND the initial subscription I signed up for. When I asked them why I continued to be charged after cancelling my subscription, they said that they have an AUTOMATIC RENEWAL system in place. I saw no option to opt-out of this renewal when I unsubscribed last summer.
There may be details buried deep in their terms & services, thus protecting them legally, but it is also true that they have developed their settings to give users the false belief that they are unsubscribed when they are not. Then when confronted with the issue, they give a canned response and put the customer last. This was an intentional use of "fine print" to weasel more money out of their customers. I know a lot of companies do this but that doesn't mean it is right. We should all be fighting for a more just world and not contributing to the corruption.
I was refused a refund (hundreds of dollars) for services I didn't consent to, at least not knowingly. I also felt as if my concerns were belittled, ignored, and treated with contempt when they ended the email with "Your request has been denied. Thank you for your payment!" I want other users to be warned that subscribing to eHarmony will cost them more than initially agreed upon. If the service is worth that to you, that's fine. Otherwise, I don't think that eHarmony can be trusted to treat their customers with respect and care.
After reviewing eHarmony on the Better Business Bureau, I see that this is something that has happened to many others as well. I'd recommend that no one uses this site.

What did I get, NOTHING, not a single date or even answers to my likes or comments. I also received more than half of my matches with no photos available. I didn’t go on a single date. I still had to pay. There is no customer service or contact info only a P.O.Box address. I can’t believe this site is still running and not breaking any laws. I consider this theft. STAY AWAY!!!! This is one of the worst companies I have ever had to deal with! Always read the reviews before you sign up for anything, this company is all about the money and are not willing to work with anyone who decides it's not what they want. They reel you in with "free trials" or "half price off for the 1st month" and then BAM they think they have you stuck in a useless subscription. This was not my first time dealing with this dating site, however since the new management things have changed. It seems to be all about the money, not about truly trying to help people find love or companionship.
Stupidly I made a rash decision and signed up the other day and within 1 HOUR I emailed them telling them I would be cancelling, it took 24 hours for them to respond with the "you're stuck" **, I will admit I was quite angry and nasty in all correspondence after this. Really? After 1 hour you won't budge? What a disgrace this company is, not to mention the matches aren't even in my province! I logged into eHarmony for one day. Literally one day. A Sunday. On Monday I requested to cancel my membership and asked for a refund of $314. I was told Florida is not a state that has the 3 day cancellation ability. I then contacted customer service and said "charge me for the one day I used your service." Again I was told the 6 month membership was non-refundable. Not one man I saw on the site was anything of my taste. Much too far in distance and not pleasing to look at in any form or fashion.
After a couple of hours I knew immediately this was not going to be a site I would find a match on. It's just proof that if you use their service for one day, you are forced to buy a long term subscription. Further proof that's how they stay in business. Robbing people. If their site for dating was so great and they had so many happy members they wouldn't need to steal money from anyone. I would have felt much better giving my $314 to a charity other than being scammed by eharmony. Harmony is making members happy. What they do is rip people off.

I am a young and energetic 58 year old woman, who is in great shape and looks much younger than my age. Being recently divorced and ready to start dating again, I decided to give eHarmony a try because it caters to older and more serious people, it claims to match people on the basis of compatibility, and it seems to have a system that discourages fake profiles. Soon after opening my account, I was immediately matched with many people and one of the ones I liked contacted me. He was a 56 year old man who said he was looking for a long-term relationship and had expectations of commitment, that he was recently divorced too, and that we seemed very compatible (although our compatibility score was 96). He and I hit it off and began communicating by text and phone calls, we met in person several times, and were together for three months. It was a long-distance relationship and these things rarely (if ever) work out.
But the problem is that, ever since I made my eHarmony profile visible again to test my luck, the number of matches has been minimal. Although one match that had a high compatibility score of 117, we messaged each other twice and then I didn't hear back from him. So, this is a very expensive service but they have absolutely no support for their customers. The only thing I can say about eHarmony is that it doesn't feel like a 'meat market' the way some other dating sites do. Personally, I'm going to avoid online dating sites and apps because, in the end, all of these sites encourage people to treat each other like commodities. eHarmony seems different in this regard but at the cost of charging lots of money for very little return.

Unbeknownst to us they signed us up for an auto subscription, and by the spring they charged us $350 for the next year. We did not give permission for this, and they did not notify us that this was going to happen. When we tried to call customer service it was very difficult to find a number to call.
When we finally got through to a customer service representative he basically said there was nothing he could do for us. He said they would not provide a refund and he would not refer us to talk to anyone else. This is a very shady business. The representative said that he would pass our case along to a "specialist", and that robot "specialist" promptly sent us a form email saying there were no refunds. No exceptions. I of course deleted this person from my matches (so I thought) but the whole idea that this man could get on there and basically solicit sex was disgusting to me. By this time, I was paying for the membership. I complained to eHarmony and kept using the app. My matches got fewer and fewer, I had ZERO conversations, and found it to be a complete waste of time for me. So, I contacted customer support to let them know that I no longer wanted to use the program. I was ignored and told to adjust my profile to get more matches.
I sent another email asking for someone to contact me. I received YET ANOTHER patronizing email telling me I needed to change my profile and my location settings. Bottom line is there is ZERO customer service. If you have a problem you are out of luck and you are stuck paying for it whether you use it or not. There is NO satisfaction guaranteed. It wasn't like I wasn't trying to talk to my matches it was just that the matches weren't worth talking to. I really think I'd do better going to a bar! Here are the facts about this company. They have no desire to let you see the product they offer before you buy. I'll be more specific and I'll use a car dealership as an example. If you go to a car dealership to purchase a vehicle, you have the opportunity to search their inventory to first determine if they have the type(s) of vehicle that you want to buy. Eharmony does not allow you to do this, you cannot see the men or women unless you first pay. Let's say you were looking for a Toyota or Honda SUV. You can search the car lots for free in your area to determine if there are either Toyota and Honda SUV's in your specific geographical area. You can then look at the vehicles for free to determine if you wan to move forward with a purchase.
If you are looking specifically for a ** or Latino man or woman to date, Eharmony does not allow the user to search for free their inventory to see if there are indeed any ** or Latino men or women who are members of their site. They first want you to pay for at least 6 months with absolutely no guarantee that they can offer what you are looking for. What other business has this horrible customer service model? You may pay for a minimum 6 month purchase and once you are allowed to search without restrictions, you may discover that there are no men or women that you like on their site yet they have your money and there is nothing you can do to get it back. What they do is make you go through this B.S. 20 minute compatibility test which means absolutely NOTHING. You get to know the person by actually meeting, talking and spending time with them. That compatibility crap is all for show and had zero value for the customer.

It was more expensive than Match or Okcupid but I gave it a shot. There were only about five people in my area, none of whom I was interested in. You must pay to see your matches because they know if you see your matches upfront that you will never join and pay them your hard-earned money. Let me just say this. When a photo pops up and your head literally flinches back from the visual horror that you have just been exposed to, well, that's not a good sign of the future. I have tried e-Harmony a few times off and on over the years and have always been left feeling very, very disappointed. Scammed and ripped off. For some reason though after maybe a year or so, I think that maybe things may have gotten better or maybe my memory simply just failed me and I try again. I have had maybe 7 dates over the years and met one woman that I really liked. Unfortunately for me she liked me and about 6 other men. There are always three to four more men than women on all dating sites. This is all not e-Harmony's fault.
(By the way, I am no Brad Pitt but I am an above average looking guy, physically fit, highly educated, financially successful, debt free, etc. So it's not like I am an unmarketable loser). My point here is that if you pay to sign up and you are unhappy, disappointed and get absolutely no results or satisfaction from your membership, well that's too bad. You are not going to get a refund. Your money is gone. And if you are paying monthly the pain is even more excruciating. Helplessly watching your money withdrawn from your account each month until your membership is fully paid for and the torture is finally all over.

I've emailed them numerous times trying to explain what happened and have them open the account and help me to get it to my mom's name, but they don't get back to me. It's been months that I've paid for now, with no one using this. I'm so frustrated. I thought that this was a reputable company - looks like I was wrong!

eHarmony was the strangest experience I ever had with a dating site. As others have complained, very limited matches, if you want to call them that. But what was so strange was that most of photos of the men looked like the they were asleep, drunk or dead. Seriously. Several had their eyes closed like they were passed out and their mouths open, like someone sleeping or dead. I showed it to a friend of mine and she was shocked and asked what it was. I don't know if someone at eHarmony decided to have a joke at my expense -- and it was expensive.
I had a 6 month membership. I was ready to cancel when it was to expire, but a few days before, they charged me for 6 more months. I called and was told I had not requested for my membership to stop -- not true. She refused to refund me so I filed a claim with BBB. eHarmony then refunded my money. Never again! Beware! By the way, I didn't even meet one person or even get contacted by anyone, especially since there were really no matches.

I have used Match, Zoosk, Bumble and most recently signed up for eHarmony. I am beyond floored at how TERRIBLE eHarmony is compared to the rest of the sites considering it’s way more expensive than all other sites and they force you to sign up for six months minimum. Issues with the service: The site decides who you match with and you only get to see those people. You don’t have the option to search all members.
To make it worse the the majority of members don’t even have a photo so you’re constantly just scrolling because you can’t see what people look like nor do you have the option to filter to only see matches with photos. Seven out of ten matches that you get matched with daily don’t have a photo. Secondly, you can’t access a lot of your settings and preferences through the mobile apps. You have to log in from your computer to access several of the settings. This is ridiculous considering that everybody uses a mobile app and all other sites let you change all your settings on the mobile app.
Lastly and most terrible of all are the issues with billing and their terms & conditions: In the terms and conditions they clearly state that you can request a full refund if you cancel within the first three days. (Keep in mind that the minimum you can sign up for is six months and the price per month is much higher than Match, Zoosk or Bumble). But because there is an option to cancel within 3 days I decided to sign up to see if it was more expensive because it was a better quality dating site.
Within the first day I realized how terrible it was (due to lack of photos and inability to search more members), so I emailed the subscription email address as noted in the terms and conditions to request a full refund. To my surprise the customer service team replied stating that Canadian customers do not have the same option to request a refund within the first 3 days. With their reply, they sent me a link to the terms and conditions. It was the same terms and conditions I read originally and nowhere does it state that the refund policy only applies to American customers. If it’s there, they have hidden it very well which is dishonest and unfair to non-American customers who would of course assume that the refund policy would apply to them as well.
After several unsuccessful emails to their team I filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau and only then did they get back to me to provide an acceptable resolution. They charged me for the first month and cancelled the rest of the remaining months which to me is a fair resolution. However, this only happened after I filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau. To my surprise there was a ton of claims about them. I never write reviews but I decided to do this because I hope it helps someone else avoid this nightmare. They should be ashamed of themselves the way they hide things in their terms and conditions. It’s dishonest and I also think it’s not fair to provide that refund option to all customers.
Their whole gimmick is that they supposedly match you really well because you fill out a large survey. Don’t fall for it. It’s terrible, over priced, horrible customer service and flat out dishonest. I really hope that with all the claims against them through the Better Business Bureau they finally update the terms and conditions to either clearly state that the refund policy is not available to non American customers or better yet that they offer it to ALL customers because that is what an honest business would do.

I am very disappointed with their whole dating app. A lot of red tape to answer silly questions and the dating pool leaves a lot to be desired! Then I get an email saying that I still owe them $270 and I said I am not even using the service anymore. I've already paid $70 for nothing. I could have had a steak dinner, their response was, "Well you still have to pay it and your account is deactivated" and I'm like I don't care, I don't want it anyways, all of their email responses are very generic and they still think that I should pay $270 for something that I am not using after I've already paid $70. There are so few paying members, well, so few members at all and the matches are just awful. I'm a 56 year old woman, successful, educated, intelligent and well traveled. I am extremely fit and healthy. I don't need a man but would like to find an equal to share my life with. EHarmony thinks I am best matched with people who have high school educations, mediocre jobs and mostly haven't traveled further than their neighboring city. None of the extremely limited matches looked they they had done any kind of exercise in the past 10 years. Coming back to the algorithms, I am liberal and live in a very blue part of Florida. They flat out told me no and kept referring to the "terms and conditions" instead of trying to help resolve it. I mean it could not have been more 5 minutes after signed up. They refused to help so I called my bank and disputed the charges, they told me I had to close my bank account and open a new one to stop them from continuing to charge me...what a hassle!! However immediately after expiry and for a month I was inundated with emails about matches. This could not have been a coincidence. Like everyone else signing up for a dating site, I was hoping to have a result that was joyous and love-filled. I read the cancellation policy and saw that I could cancel within the first 3 days if it was not for me. Turns out - they meant if I was American and I do have this in writing. The site only provided me with 7 dating options to choose from, and I found none of the men appealing. My preferences are not outlandish as I am open to Any Ethnicity, any height above 159cm and within the same city. It clearly did not take me long to realize there were no options (all of whom are also on the free dating sites), so within MINUTES of my account activation, I tried to cancel and thus began the runaround. I am now being forced to pay a total sum of just under $300 for a service that is not giving me anything in return.
The lack of understanding when speaking to the service representatives appears to be intentionally vacant and unconcerned. The representatives have told me that I need to broaden my preferences and it was eluded to that I need to be more open-minded - I also have this in writing. What is the point of having standards and preferences, if you are going to be asked to remove them?
What started out with optimism and high hopes is fast turning into a nightmare for me, as $300 is a lot of money to throw away these days. It makes me question if this is a sign that I should not be attempting to find love yet. Imagine that - a pay dating site that is acting as a deterrent for me. At the end of the day, I am quite disappointed in eHarmony and I would like my money back. That won't happen, so this is going to be the first post of many, on as many platforms as I can find. If I can prevent one other person from being robbed, then it will have been worth the effort. To all the other single hopefuls out there - I sincerely wish you all love and happiness.

You would think an ethical/transparent company would show your exactly how much you’re paying before you send them money.
I tried to contact customer services right away to cancel, not only did it take them two days for them to get back to me, they said that they were unable to cancel the payment, because I didn’t live in a State where the 3 day cancellation policy was in effect, and also due to the fact that they didn’t want to or have to. I entered the online dating world having read reviews of all the major dating sites. eHarmony was consistently rated in the top 3. My experience has been that people truly get what they pay for, so I applied this to my selection of eHarmony over the competition with my initial choice of dating services. After completing the evaluation I reviewed those who rated above 100 on their compatibility scale. There were 2 that rated above 120, and I reached out to both. Of the 2 I reached out to, one responded with interest, the other politely informed me she was focusing on another. The person who responded with interest and I met, had a nice dinner together, and have been together ever since. I connected with her and began our journey on the very first day of using eHarmony!
I was skeptical of the compatibility index, and the actual compatibility of two humans meeting after taking the evaluation. Honestly, I have not had such a great connection with a partner in my life. The ability to openly communicate is great for us. I attribute this to the close compatibility for openness and communication we both shared on the evaluation. In my personal experience, and in the geographic region I live, I give eHarmony very high marks and would recommend the service to anyone seeking a serious love interest and life partner.

I have fell victim as many other customers that feel tricked into the length of time they’re being put on a subscription. Once you get another enormous charge you figure out that they have taken it upon themselves to select the subscription and when you realize it they give you all hell and zero opportunity to pay for what you’ve used and to cancel out.
They even go as far to have a collection agency come after you after your bank and PayPal have dealt with them along with your multiple letters. They don’t care about. They rather fight you to pay however many hours to deal with an unhappy customer and in the long run they have already spent more trying to get a measly hundred dollars out of a customer rather than just saying, "Sorry you are unhappy and we can correct this mistake next time and maybe you would come back." They absolutely can cancel a subscription, they choose not to and in the long run they spend more time sending people to tell you they can’t and answering emails and better business reports than just canceling the subscription.
It is the only dating site that I have noticed that had almost 0 matches in a very large city that I live in. I don’t know how they’re not being sued more they already have been sued for sending people to collections. There are many other dating sites that are easy to opt out of and have better matches. I live in California and my parameters were 10 year age difference within 30 miles, which resulted in very few matches. I was disappointed with this app because quite frankly, I watched some pretty convincing reviews on YouTube. They are LYING to you. The biggest problem with Eharmony is the lack of matches. The site is so expensive that no one joins. It’s a ghost town. Eharmony tells you that you will get new matches daily. But this is false. And if you try to claim otherwise, they place the blame on you by constantly telling you to expand your search preferences. Well, I did that and still no daily results. The only preferences I had were to be not above 4 years my age and a distance no greater than 100 miles. And I think that’s pretty reasonable to ask.
I tried emailing Eharmony about this problem and they still haven’t gotten back to me. It’s been over a month. Even if you do find a match you like, they all will most likely not respond to you, and I believe that’s because most are using the free version, which doesn’t allow them to respond to messages. Word of advice: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. THIS IS A GARBAGE APP AND I WISH I HAD READ THE REVIEWS FIRST.
Reviewed Jan. 23, 2022
The deception starts by them first asking for your preferences for a match. Based on what you said you like, they start sending you fake profiles and pictures of what you like. Then one or more of those fake profiles start sending you messages and then the eHarmony website sends you an email message that you have messages from one or more of the people you like. However, you cannot read those messages until you make a payment. Their prices are ridiculously high and all payments are non-refundable even if you want to cancel the service on the same day you make the payment after realizing that the messages you got were from fake profiles that do not reply to your messages or disappear after you sign up.
They have no phone number or support on their website. You may be able to send them an email but don't expect any good response in any timely fashion. I only got an email response after I submitted a dispute of the charge with my credit card company. Their response was "We don't have phone support but you can email us. Please read our policy at this link on refunds.... There are no refunds after enrolling in the agreement."
On your credit card statement, you will see a (800) number for eHarmony customer care as required by Visa or Mastercard to address disputes. However, the phone number is fake and it is out of service. Apparently Mastercard and Visa are not aware of this. When you explore the website, there is no link to cancel your subscription or delete your profile as they are in the business or gathering inactive or old profiles to present to unsuspecting people.
Don't get fooled by the lower monthly prices if you choose a 3 month, 6 month or 2 year subscription. Their scam is to charge you all the money for the entire or half the subscription period upfront so they get all or most of your money before you realize it a scam service after you start using it (which is unrefundable). In other words they charge you a large sum of money upfront for future service in order to take your money and then have the liberty of giving you unsatisfactory service with no recourse. Save your money and don't get fooled by the fake profiles and fake messages.

Having looked at the T&Cs it states I have to cancel within 14 days in writing - not the in app option. I have therefore appealed for some compassion due to my mistake and offered to pay for the time I utilized the app pro rata and the personality services used. Tried to go in and change the subscription from auto renew, following the help instructions, can't be done. Had my bank deny the charges. EHarmony will take your money but not provide a good service that actually works. Their customer care is a joke.

EHarmony is the worst... Before I joined this dating service I did research several companies. They all had about the same risks and pro's and con's. EHarmony send profiles of men with no photo about 75 % of the time, send photos of horrible looking men, the men had nothing in common with my selections, the customer service department are all rude and do not respond to complaints. They actually sent a photo of a man that was a retired dish washer and looked like a serial killer. I'm reporting them to the Federal Trade Commision and the BBB. DO NOT JOIN!!!

Do not get a Subscription to in Eharmony (36$/Month) To cancel the renewal you will need to go through a series of links to then be told Your automatic subscription renewal will be cancelled... IF you do so by writing them a request letter with a specific ''Password'' and a ''User ID'' etc... making it as unclear and complicated to increase the probability of collecting further payments before customers realize renewal wasn't ''successfully'' cancelled because X or Y. It is kind of ''Legal'' but... mostly a shady business model for an institution in decline.
I've been testing a few Dating Apps over the last years (quick tip; best one is Hinge) and I believe in not being too cheap if you're being serious. So out of curiosity I wanted to try other Apps like Eharmony to get a good idea of what are the type of users and I have to say it is even worst than Tinder! Do not bother if you're 40, 30 or younger, there's nobody there; it is not only the process that matter, but the actual number and quality of users.

eHarmony.com proved to be the absolute worst experience online of any online dating site. Prior to becoming a premium member, the site displayed pictures of prospective matches, though many were listing that were expired. After paying the premium, interestingly enough, at least half of the profiles had NO pictures, many of the listings once again expired. eHarmony's success obviously relies on its heavy advertising but actual members quickly realize that the company cannot live up to its promises. "A new dissatisfied customer every 14 minutes" might be a more adequate slogan for the company.
The customer service team, upon being contacted, repeatedly responded with scripted emails, never acknowledging the actual concerns. Now, in a desperation to connect with a wider audience, eHarmony's commercials promote the emphasis of its catering to gays and lesbians. Thanks to eHarmony, every household with children sees guys kissing guys & women kissing women. The message conveyed to these receptive children is that this is all quite natural. What a shameful organization. It should be banned.

Be realistic. COVID sent people to free apps, I had only around 60 profiles shown, all ethnicities, 20-45 age range, Toronto downtown @ 50km radius. SHOCKING! RIDICULOUS! For $180CDN. Refund declined. AVOID! It's a complete RIPOFF! Extremely OVERPRICED. DON'T BOTHER, SAVE YOUR MONEY. There's no trial period. STAY AWAY!!! They will not even allow you to get refund for remaining payments pending. Absolutely HORRIBLE. You will waste your money, that's a guarantee. I wish I came here for reviews. I should have known better not to do solo guided subscriptions but rather refer to other members who have had experience with them. What a waste of money.

Please, please stay away from eHarmony, when you sign up it automatically renews your subscription with no option to do anything else. They never send any reminders and if you don't remember to cancel there is absolutely nothing you can do. I was just charged 578.34 for 1 year. It is a useless site and never made 1 connection, even online! Never spoke to one person, other sites are so much better, Bumble, Hinge even Match. eHarmony is outdated and has terrible customer service and is so very expensive. I emailed them and they said nothing they can do, which is total crap. STAY AWAY. So not worth your money.

The whole signup process with EHarmony is setup like a scam, similar to the IQ test scam. They get you to invest your time into filling out these ** questions so you're more inclined to give them your credit card at the end. Once you do, they continue to bill you 104 bucks a month in perpetuity. Once you "cancel" your subscription, they still have you for 1 to 2 years subscription. The only way to fight this is to dispute the charges every month. This is the worst dating platform I've ever used. All predicated on the "christian" dating alternative. Of course I should've known it was a scam with that premise. Zero service, zero accountability, zero chance I will ever use this site, and neither should you!

FALSE ADVERTISING! I am looking for matched with similar faith. They have a whole article on the importance of matching values/religion saying they had lots of matches etc. I joined only to not be able to see anything on a free profile. But it said hundreds of matches. When I paid, suddenly there were very few matches, half without photos and lots are fake profiles too!! Many have not logged in in months etc too. When I contacted them about this it was too bad so sad. Escalating this to ACCC in Australia for false advertising. I have had NO NEW MATCHES since I joined 2 months ago!! Do yourself a favour and cancel your credit card. Better yet do NOT SIGN UP! It's basically click bait!

Maybe the only company I've ever dealt with which refuses to do refunds or cancel membership in the first few days of membership. They obviously pay websites (etc) for positive reviews, considering the poor results of their site. Being in one of the largest cities in the country with a handful of matches, none of whom have been online in months

Do not join them. I registered on their site but soon I got suspicious about them, since I had maybe one visitor per day, days passed without any messages. I registered on another dating site, wherein FOUR DAYS I got 550 likes, messages, winks, whatever...I am a hot chick with brain. Then I read the reviews and saw that not only me had the feeling that they play with the numbers, and manipulate the actions on your profile. The saddest part that I did find two very promising matches, both were very excited about me, too, and then one day I saw that they didn't see anymore my messages. It happened before, I connected customer service and they said my account was restricted by a mistake....It's a shame that a dating app actually prevents love.

As some other reviewers have mentioned, I'm sure that I was scammed by the company, in the form of them creating fake profiles to lure me into buying an expensive subscription. Once I created my profile, I got messages from two eligible men (professional, educated, nice looking), which of course I couldn't respond to without paying hundreds for the subscription service.
After I bought the service, these men disappeared from the site. After that, I was only matched with men that were nothing like what I'd asked to be matched with: they were not professionals or educated (higher education was my top priority request for a match), looked too old for me, sloppy and were inarticulate. And of course, eHarmony's annoying matching system doesn't allow you to search through all available potential partners yourself, you have to passively be matched by their computer algorithms (which don't take your requests into consideration). That contrast between the men I was matched with before paying, and the men I was matched with after paying, was too stark to be a coincidence: I have no doubt that those initial matches were fakes & used as bait to bring customers in. Because I was scammed, I disputed the charges with my credit card company.
