I applied for this card to help improve my credit after my score plummeted following a divorce. I paid the $95 fee and made a few small purchases in the beginning. After a couple months I received a letter asking for "verification of my checking account" to prove I paid with my own funds. I was stunned, it was so demeaning and ridiculous I didn't act right away; they suspended my account until I obtained this letter from my bank, and reported (the suspension) to the credit bureau.

I went to the bank, obtained a letter and sent it to them. After that I swore I'd never use it again and maintained a zero balance. A few months later my wallet was stolen and the thief used the card to charge $90. I reported it, the charge was initially removed and I received a packet from their security dept to complete. The questions they asked were quite intrusive, i.e., they wanted a list of everything that I lost (aside from their credit card) and a copy of my driver's license. I completed everything and mailed it back.

After a couple months I checked activity and noticed the charge was put back on my account and I was accruing interest and fees. I then received a letter that they did not get my driver's license. I again completed another packet, copied my license and resubmitted. After a couple weeks I received another letter that my license copy was not clear enough and they wanted another copy. This time I went to a news stand and paid to get a color copy of my license to return to them. Then, after a couple weeks I noticed the charge was removed, but they charged me service fees and late fees during the dispute period.

I finally had enough, called to cancel the card, they refused to remove the fees, so I will pay what they claim I owe and will take a hit on my credit report for late payment and cancellation. It should be noted I have other bank cards, with much higher credit limits, who honored my loss and were quick to help me resolve; so I have other loss procedures to weigh against, First Premier was a nightmare.

Time and again when I try to get into the card's website to pay, I can't get in for one reason or another- several times this has rendered my payment late- when I complained about the late fees and damage to my credit I was scolded by their staff that perhaps I should pay my bill a week before the due date in order to avoid these issues- NOT ACCEPTABLE- again, whenever I try to bring up the site, from any angle, the little circle just keeps turning- all other sites come up fine- tested it from another computer and site- same thing. A couple mos ago, the site just froze in the middle of payment. I'm tired of this and I think it's a sham in order to glean more money from us in fees.

I have been a member of First Premier since 2012. I paid my balance off back in March. I still had to pay $6.31 per month for account maintenance on a card that had no balance. I called to cancel the card and they said my annual fee was paid through December. I left the account open and they assured me they would close it in December. So I get a call that I owe $42.00 because of a late fee with numerous fees. I would not recommend this card to anyone for any reason.

I applied for a card on Dec.14, 2015. They took my $95 dollar deposit the following day. It is January 12, 2016 and still have not received my card. I called this morning on the 13 and they said my address and telephone number was wrong, even though I spoke to someone on the weekend where they confirmed my address and phone number 3x. I told them to forget everything and to refund my money. It's going to take them 10-14 days to refund my $95 yet they took my money out in one day. This company is not good in any form or fashion. Will update later to see how long it actually takes for me to get my money back.

I have had an account since 2012. I was called and asked if I wanted a new card and I mentioned, "No I would like my old one increased". Premier bank would only increase $100 even though they wanted to give me a new card with $800. I told them no. They then sent me a letter telling me my account was closed due to not accepting mail which is a total lie by them. They have now called and told me my account is behind, I have a large payment. They told me my card is marked lost even though they just sent a replacement. This sounds bogus. I have since read several bad reviews. Do not get one of these cards. Both capital one and Merrick seem better.

This late payment showed up on my credit report which now I have to dispute. When I contacted the company regarding this issue, the rep refused to take off a late charge, refused my request to speak with a supervisor. They offered a solution of a $10.00 credit on the account, I requested the account to be closed. I will be placing a stop payment on the charge in October, and block any future deductions. They then offered me a 2nd credit card, a whole new account number, which would have a higher credit limit. This is a SCAM! All they want to do is collect more fees and more interest on a 2nd account, instead of increasing limit on an existing account.

I have been a good client of First Premier since 2012. I have always paid on time, no issues. I recently contacted all of my credit cards and requested that the monthly fees be waived. The others all happily removed the fees and one actually refunded 6 months worth of fees without me even asking, now that's customer service. First Premier keeps trying to get me to open a 2nd account with them because I am such an 'outstanding' customer so I called and asked for them to follow suit, put on their big boy panties and waive the fee.

Ha! Boy did I get the runaround when I tried to get them to cancel the monthly fee. I had some guy 'try' to explain to me why it is better to pay their 36% interest + their monthly fee of $14.90 than it is to have a REAL credit card that charges me 7% interest and no monthly fee. He had a pretty slick story and I'm sure there are people who buy into it hook, line and sinker. I actually laughed when he tried to justify his appeal, I think I offended him, oh well!!! I owe nothing on this card. They are going the way of the dodo bird.

I have had this card three years. It was the first to give me a credit card after filing bankruptcy. It did boost my credit. Three years later and I just bought a house. Although I hate that they charge you 14.95 a month, regardless of whether you have a balance, I have learned that the oldest credit line should not be cancelled to help your credit score. However, when I go in to make a payment, get a notice that simply says "This account is unavailable" and tells me to call the customer service line with questions.

THEN when I call, I keep getting a message to call back during normal business hours, which it IS and they were supposed to be open a half hour ago. Fraud? Maybe, but I should have been notified and even if they cancelled my card and reissued because they suspected fraud, I should be able to get into my online account. I am seriously reconsidering paying this sucker off and cancelling it. ALL my other credit cards have increased my limits regularly. This is the only that that hasn't. However, they keep trying to get me to accept a second card... UMMM... with these fees, no thank you. But I am pretty furious right now.

I went online and paid the bill but I didn't see it post to my account. The bill due date have arrived so in fear of any late penalties I decided to call in and make a payment. The next day I seen two charges for 175.00 in my checking account so I contacted my bank to stop payment on one of the checks. I got this credit card to rebuild my credit and it did the complete opposite due to their lack of communication and punitive measures against me. I was a victim of fraud. First Premier Bank sent me a affidavit to sign about the fraud on my account. Although I sent the forms back in through US Postal Mail as instructed, they said they never received anything from me. Overnight, I went from having a $25.00 minimum balance due, to a $1000.00 charge from fees they had reversed because they said since they did not receive the form I mailed they reversed the credit. No one communicated to me ever this would happen, and ALSO I mailed back the form. Fearful of disrepair to my credit and beholden to their requests that I pay $609.00 to them on October 31, 2015 for a payment deadline of November 2, 2015. I had to forgo paying my monthly mortgage on time so I did not get my credit score dropped.

To add insult to injury, the only communication I did receive from the company was that my credit card was shut off. In the first place, this is a secured credit card, meaning I paid $300 of my own money, to use to build credit. They refused to tell me where charges up to a $1000.00, came from, and said since they did not receive the letter, I was responsible for $500.00 worth of fraud on my account. I hope that Consumer Affairs shuts this company down, because it is a complete misrepresentation and does not communicate to customers at all what the process for clearing fraud on an account is and that the consumer will be pinned with the fraud. Also, it is not fair that I, because of situations unbeknownst to me that delayed my letter for whatever reason, had two days to come up with $609.00. Consumers, never get this "secured" credit card because it is the exact opposite of secure and credit building.

As everyone has commented, this card is outrageously expensive, but that's not all. They love to make trouble for customers for no reason at all. This month, I paid down my credit card debt online to less than 10% with this and other cards, to lower my credit utilization. Then they told me my card was suspended! The reason? They said I had used four different accounts to pay down my debt. They also said I made four payments in one month. They regarded that as "suspicious activity!" Imagine that! They said this "raised a red flag" in their loss prevention department. In fact, there were only two bank accounts I used. Each one had an account number and a debit card number attached to it, so they called that two accounts each. Explaining this to them did no good.

They required me to go down to my bank and get documentation from my branch on Chase Bank letterhead that these were both accounts that I was authorized to use and that all these payments had cleared. I included the business card of my branch manager. This wasted the better part of a day. I had to fax then documentation that all this was all legitimate, and sent them a ten page fax to their fax number to show them they had made a mistake and everything was normal. Then they took another week to "process" these documents in their Loss Prevention Department. All of this because I had PAID them with good funds.

I pay almost all my bills online. If every time I tried to make a payment of utility bill or anything else, the payee required me to go down to my branch and sit with my branch manager for half a day to get documentation that the funds were properly paid and fax it to them, I would not have time to do anything else. This potentially would have threatened my credit rating had I not taken prompt steps. I have better things to do with my time. My credit isn't bad as it is. I only got this card because they advertised it would help boost my credit. Instead it has only lowered my score. They made me feel like a criminal just for paying my bill. It's ridiculous. I do not intend to use this card anymore. I'm going to pay it down to a $1 balance and never use it again, until my credit score is solid enough I can afford to cancel it and get them out of my life forever. Stay away from these guys. They act more like suspicious policemen than bankers.

I was happy to receive this card as it was a compliment to my Capital One card - amazing service there, and online access is top notch. Quite opposite to FPBC. To start when I first logged on, I realized there is no online support to setup anything. Everything has to be made via phone call (hello 90's), no email, no online form, no automated support to set up direct deposit or make a payment. I have 2 full time jobs. I do not have time to dial phone number and cycle through countless menus. Unlike Capital One where I logged on, setup my direct deposit, and auto pay to keep my payments on time - a click-and-forget, was not possible with FPBC.

I was able to make a first payment, but something went amiss (on their part, and they apologized for it) however, it left my account blocked. Since again, I did not have time to deal with the lame phone call, it became lapse in a payment. Again, I searched everywhere for an email I could quickly write, but not there. And since my account was locked, I could not even make an online payment to them. To add insult to injury, they call from a blocked phone number.

NOTE TO FUTURE CLIENTS - DO NOT DEAL WITH ANY COMPANY THAT HAS TO CALL WITH A BLOCKED NUMBER. If I knew this information before I signed up, I would never have been a member. What kind of company does that. My phone blocks those anyways so I do not get them after the first call. Like I mentioned, this company operates at 90's level and not 2015+ level. If you have an online business, at least have an email to contact. Some of us are just too busy to be on the phone - especially when hold times are just ridiculous.

This review is to warn all consumers to think twice before obtaining this credit card. I had great credit, no late pays on ANY of my accounts. I decided to get this for traveling. All of my problems stemmed from not being able to set up the auto-pay online. The asinine system does not allow for you to sign up online. You have to submit paperwork, which I did. With a very severe illness in our family, I did not follow up to make sure that the paperwork was received.

THREE MONTHS LATER, I find out that payments have not been received. They said they tried to contact me but when I logged onto my account to pay, I noticed they didn't even have a phone number listed for me. Then they said that they sent me letters, I received one. That's the one that prompted me to log on and check my account. So now, I have three late pays on my credit report.

I requested, kindly, for them to reverse this as the error was mainly on their part for 1) not allowing consumers to set up auto-pay online and 2) God only knows what happened to the paperwork that I sent to them. And what the heck is the $8.50/mo service fee? What are they servicing? They sure didn't contact me and they don't send me bills, emails, phone calls, etc. So glad that I decided to get this card ruin my credit. Run people run...

If you have one of these, cut your losses asap and cut the card up. There are much better Credit Cards to have if you want to re-establish your credit. Try Merrick Bank or maybe Credit One Bank.

I had gotten the first Premier credit card with a $300 limit on it. I've had this card for about 6-7 months now and have been making my payments on time every month, but I pay every 2 weeks to the day sometimes the amount is over $200. Well, today 9-17-15, I check my balance to find out I don't have any money in it after paying 275 on the 11th. I call to find out had happened to all the money on my card. They had told me that my account had been suspended and the reason they told me was the most bogus excuse I've ever heard. My account was red flagged apparently because I pay my card 2 times a month (I get paid bi-weekly) and sometimes my balances are a large amount.

They want me to verify that the account I have been using for 6-7 months already is actually my bank account. Most credit card companies would love to see your account not having an outstanding balance. Besides I like to see that my whole check doesn't go into my card at the end of the month. I think they are upset because they aren't getting interest rate fees and etc. I don't know about you, but this has got to be the most outrageous explanation I've ever heard. Whatever you do don't get this card.

After I applied for the card, I had to pay $100 processing fee on top of the $99 annual fee ($199). I used the credit card twice on the first month. I scheduled the payment online through my bank account for the full amount due. The payment was not processed because I mistyped the account number. I received a call from their customer service letting me know that I missed a payment. After I explained to them that I scheduled the payment online and verified my account number, the rep asked me if I can pay with a debit card over the phone. I paid the full amount due, no questions asked. I found out the next day that they completely suspended my credit card account. I called and explained to them that I have done what I was supposed to do by submitting the payment online and that I didn't have any intention to not pay. They didn't care!

I don't care about the fact that they closed my account because I didn't need their credit card anyway. My reason for getting it is to establish my credit. They ripped me off by taking $200 up front and canceled the card. From what I have read online, this company has horrible practices and they simply prey on people with bad credit!

I got my statement and it said that I was over the limit so I tried to sign on and make a sizable payment to bring it back under the limit and it told me they could take my payment without calling in and paying for a phone payment. I refuse to pay the extra fee for the phone payment so I mailed a check in this morning. I just received a call from a rep that said that I missed my payment. What?!?! How can I miss a payment when I made three payments in one billing cycle? Then I was told my payment was not big enough. Really it was over what they said my minimum payment was so how was it not enough?

I understand I messed up and went over my limit but to cut me off from being able to make a payment is ridiculous. I will be paying this card off and will not being using it. Closing my account will hurt worse than just paying the minimum fees and not using it for now - so that is what I will have to do until I am able to close it out. They also want a copy of a piece of personal mail proving your address. I got to find all this out when I attempted to buy dinner while working out of state after my card declined at the place I chose to eat. Embarrassing to say the least and when I called in to find out why my card declined considering I have a zero balance due. First they verify my identity over the phone only to tell me "we are sorry but you will have to do what the letter instructs you to do to get the card reactivated." I'm like "Listen, I can tell you every charge to this card since it was opened and the amount of every payment made to it and I can tell you what the charges were for which is verification enough".

Now, the supervisor says it's not. I'm like "Well, I'm canceling this card then and thanks for the 175.00 rip off." I have been with this card for 5 months and I have NEVER had a problem or had to contact customer support. This card helped me dramatically with my credit score. I had a debt on my credit report that belonged to a relative with a similar name. I was denied for every single credit card because of that debt. At that time my TransUnion score was 540 and no Equifax score.

I applied for a First Premier Bank credit card and was approved after I had verified my identity with a representative over the phone. That representative was extremely nice to me, had patience and spoke very well English. A week later they sent me my orange card with my name on it with a $300 limit. I never paid the $95 processing fee. Since I had the card on hand I paid the fee with my debit card and the credit card was activated immediately. I contacted the credit bureaus and they removed that debt I mentioned earlier after sending them documents. I had a perfectly clean credit score with only a few inquiries.

I started with $220 available credit since a $75 annual fee was deducted automatically and I registered an online account for a one-time $4.95 fee. Online statements weren't available until a week later. My first bill came in two weeks later with a minimum payment of $30. I maxed out this credit card with only $3 left in credit, paid $100 with my debit card over the phone for FREE and was charged $5.65 in interest (36% APR). These fees were specifically on the terms and I was not charged for any additional fees within during the 6 months of use.

Within the first 3 weeks my TransUnion score went from 540 to 610! Another week later my Transunion score jumped to 620! After 5 months my Transunion is now 690 and my Transunion is 680!!! All with just ONE secured credit card. All you have to do is pay the minimum payment, THAT'S IT! I don't understand why some people can't follow that simple rule. Yes, I was a bit wary about the fees but I did it for the sake of my credit and guess what? I was JUST APPROVED for a $1500 credit limit with Capital One who DENIED me before I applied for this card. I don't even need this card anymore, but as long as it's open my score keeps going up and up. I recommend this card temporarily until you resolve your credit crisis. Thank you First Premier Bank!

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT get this card. Though it does help re-establish credit the fees are extraordinarily high. There is a fee for everything. They charge fees for what most high risk credit cards charge but their fees are far higher. I typically paid no less than $100 towards the balance and being there was only a $300 credit limit most of the time it was paid off since the interest rate is 36%. My problem arose when I tried to pay my bill online because if you pay over the phone there is $10 processing fee. I had my card in front of me and when I went to log in it said the CCV number was invalid. Really... The card is right here... Long story short, I called to make my payment over the phone and they would not waive the fee, I asked why I couldn't log in online and they didn't have an answer for me. I typically make my payment 1-2 days before the due date. I tried numerous times to log in but was not successful.

I received a letter 3 days after my bill was due stating that they have cancelled my card due to possible fraud and apologized for the inconvenience. The letter said they would send me a new card and my old card would not be invalid after 14 days. In fact that was not the case, my card was cancelled the day they sent the letter which was dated two days before my bill was due that is why the CVV number was not recognized. Customer service couldn't tell me that when I called??? Really... I received my card a day after I received the letter. I then received another bill a day after I received the card stating that I had a late fee, because the late fee put me over my limit they charged me an overage fee, they charged me the annual fee, 36% interest, and an additional fee of $6.25 for sending me a new card that they cancelled.

I called customer service and they were HORRIBLE, USELESS, and DUMB. They had no record of the card they cancelled or the letter they sent, they just told me I didn't pay my bill. I have never paid late, I have never paid the minimum balance... etc. I take responsibility for not being more demanding to waive the $10 processing fee and paying the bill over the phone, but they added nearly $100 dollars in additional fees. I ended up cancelling the card, when I spoke with customer service again they had told me there would be charges reduced but of course they were not. They are not willing to help, they pretty much told me it was my fault. Bottom Line... don't get this card unless you like paying a ton of extra money in fees.

I have paid this card in full without fail before the due date. I even paid the $175 processing fee in a timely manner. Because in order to use a debit card to pay the bill, you have to be routed to the Western Union site. I opted to directly draft from my bank account. The money comes out in about 3 days. Annoying but like waiting for a check to clear. It then takes anywhere from 10-20 days for them to decide to credit the payment they have received to your account. So if your limit is 400, you owe 300, you pay 300, they RECEIVE 300, your available credit is still only $100 until they decide to post it to your account.

I went on vacation and charged several items before hand. I got paid and paid off those items so the card would be available for emergencies on the trip. I had an emergency and charged almost to the limit. When I got home, I got my paycheck and paid it off. I have zero credit available. I called and inquired as to what the hold up was. They FROZE my account because 'suspicious activity' (They received and accepted the payment though).

My payments have increased since I opened the card. Yes because my CHARGES increased. Paying off the charges in a timely manner is normally considered responsible not suspicious. They demanded a letter from my bank stating it was 1) my account, 2) a personal account, and 3) the date the funds left that account and that they had cleared (the funds they already HAVE). I called my bank immediately and had the information faxed. Now I cannot get through their robot phone system to speak to a live body and confirm they received the fax. I tried to contact them through their site only to be told the situation was too complex and I should call this other number which hung up on me. No amount of credit building is worth this.

On the First Premier Bank website they state that a MoneyGram payment is considered guaranteed funds that will not be placed on hold. But they are holding my funds. Anytime I have called them they have been nice and polite, even when I had to pay late because of a hospital stay, I was not charged a late fee nor have I received a "courtesy call" some are saying they get. Yes, the interest rate is high but that is what happens when you have no credit or bad credit.

I only wrote this review bc I thought it was important that if you know what you are doing, these cards can help the people who have destroyed their credit. Key thing is pay twice a month at least twice the minimum. Minimum payment is 25 dollars. if you can't pay 100 dollars every month.... don't get a credit card. And don't talk to CSRs they just screen the calls you want to talk to the Acct Specialist and ask for their employee number before you say anything. "Hello **, I hope your day is peaceful, can I have your employee number in case if we get disconnected, my cell phone doesn't get the best reception".

Before the credit card act.. I took up Orchard Bank and First Premier after being screwed over by Capitol One and an secured card that I defaulted on. Orchard and First Premier had the same ** sign up, activation, annual fees and such. I did know what I was getting into this time around since the first set of cards I really messed up and effectively killed my young credit history. The first year of the cards it was really hard trying to keep up with all the crappy fees and such. the second year of the both cards, I said I am not going to use them. I used both cards only as Gas Cards.

After not missing a payment in over a year, I paid them both down then I requested a limit increase from both companies. First Premier gave me a 200 dollar increase and Orchard Bank only gave me 100 dollar increase. The third year, I was tired of the fees from both cards. So I called First Premier and told them I "Was Not Happy and wanted to talk to an account specialist".

I explained the Acct Specialist my situation. I had two cards that were both charging fees. I understood the fees well. I told her that I personally look at the fees as "You are a ** and should had not defaulted on your first 2 credit cards" she laughed. I continued, "my point of the call is that I need to close one of these credit cards today and I called you guys first to see if you can help". I was put on hold about 3 times and when the acct specialist came back online she said she could drop my APR down to 11 percent or something like that. I said that's great! So I called Orchard Bank and closed the acct. Orchard Bank may have offered me the same deal but they only gave me a 100 dollar credit increase.

Over the next few years I requested limit increases every 6 months and eventually had a limit over $1000 and an APR of 9 percent. I made payments every payday (twice a week), that way I could never be late. It was almost REAL credit card except no reward points and that damn annual fee of 60 dollars. There was no monthly fee if I made a purchase every month.

After the credit card act.. Everything is great. I was late on a few payments and electric bill once. But not the First Premier card. Over the past 5 years I was over the limit twice and that's it. But it was currently paid down. Then I get a letter in the mail saying that there was a possibility that my APR would go up and there would always be a monthly fee but the annual fee would not change. In my mind I was thinking "Man, I haven't missed a payment. My limit is high and my balance is low, I don't have a thing to worry about". Wrong, next statement said my APR was now 21.9%. I was mad and called them. Later I found out every bank was doing it and I was just screwed. I just kept the balance as low as possible.

About 3 years later than that I start receiving Actual Good Credit Card Offers in the mail. Even my arch nemesis Capitol One and Chase, who wouldn't give me the time of day before. I didn't really care until the offers with (NO ANNUAL FEE) and 0% APR. So I accepted two offers and got the cards in the mail. I was so happy but the limits were only half as high as the First Premier limit. But the two new cards almost equal the First Premier limit so I called First Premier. I told them I had a complicated situation and I needed an acct specialist.

I explained to the specialist that, man I been with First Premier for a really long time and even stayed with you when you doubled my APR. I haven't missed a payment in at least 6 years, and I have monthly fees and annual fees and a high APR. I have two other credit cards in my hand right now that both offer cash back and no fees. So I need to close my acct.

She puts me on hold and comes back... Long story short... I now have 11% APR but she said they can't do anything about the monthly and annual fees, but they were as low as they could possibly be "from them". Well I kept the card for now. But I will have reached the maximum credit limit in less than two years. So I will keep the First Premier card until I buy a house in a little over a year. Once I am approved I will cancel the card. Too bad First Premier doesn't offer a rewards card for the people who actually have good credit because of their help.

So I spoke with a representative and she stated "I don't know why you are paying this amount, you minimum is only $30.00 a month." So I changed the automatic payment to $30 a month and this is where they get you. They lie and then you pay what they tell you and it wasn't the correct amount and then BAM you get a late charge!!!

I called them and spoke with a supervisor and told them "you are actually going to harass me for $5.00 when I actually overpaid you 2x by $100 each?!" She said "yes because you can't overpay. We don't work like that." Really!?!? So I reset this automatic payment for $35 and I am still being harassed and no I have my attorney involved because what they are doing is very much against the law and they are counting on people being stupid and not knowing the law (I work in collections and I know the laws). I had called the automated service and put my info in only to be hung up on when going to the next prompt. Next few times I tried calling, the automated service does not recognize my information at all. I finally get through to a person and even though they are customer service, they can't close my account. They have to transfer me to a specialist... I want to close my account, why am I being transferred to a credit specialist??? I get hung up on again. I call a few more times, automated service is not recognizing my info again. I finally get through to someone and they transfer me to a credit specialist again (Still confused why I have to be transferred to one to close my account).

The woman was very ignorant and demeaning. Talking down each time she could. I had to repeat myself about 6 or 7 times to cancel my account, and each time she would start spewing some garbage on how their service helps build credit. I had told her my credit is fine now, I want the account closed. This is about the 8th time. She starts in again until I cut her off and go “How many times do I have to repeat myself and tell you to close my account? I'm not interested in doing business with you and don't want you trying to convince me otherwise. I want it closed.”

I had to start talking over her ‘til she finally got it through her thick skull that I wasn't bashing around. She said the account was now closed, but I had just signed in online and there is no indication saying otherwise yet. This card is not good to build credit unless you have money to burn. Chances are, if you have this card then you cannot afford to waste any money. Money is tight. Stay away from this card because it will do nothing but suck your paycheck dry. I wish I never got this card. It has been nothing but a hassle. All I know is that my account had better be closed otherwise I will be looking into pressing charges against them for fraud.

First Premier Bank may offer cards to those who are with bad or no credit. My husband had no credit and this was his first credit card. This thing is a pain. They call with "courtesy" calls weeks before the payment is due. The interest is outrageous (pay the thing off in full every month), customer service is a wreck to deal with. They have even spoken to me in detail about the card (I am not on the account and all they verified is that I was his wife). Making payments online is out of the question unless you want to pay a fee, paying your bill on the phone for the due date within 48 hours of the due date has a fee associated with it. The card and the so called "privilege" to use the card is not worth it.

When I do business with a company I want the feeling that as a consumer I matter. First Premier Bank has a different attitude, because you have no credit or are rebuilding your credit you should be taken advantage of. Stay away from First Premier Bank credit cards and if you choose to do business with them READ every shred of FINE print. This kind of banking should not be allowed.

On June 1, 2015, I called First Premier to attempt to settle an old debt that I couldn't pay 3 years ago. When I was connected with the right department, I asked the simple question that "If I were to pay the bill in full, would it be possible to also have the bill taken off my credit report?" The gentleman whose name was ** (and I use the term "gentleman" very loosely) stated that "First Premier does not do the 'pay for removal' service that some creditors offer".

So that's all I needed to know because thru credit counseling, I have learned that simply paying a debt that's on your credit report is ineffective at improving your credit score because it's still a derogatory debt. Only difference is if you pay it, it will show as a "paid derogatory debt", which explained why years ago whenever I would pay an old debt off, my credit score never improved. But creditors want you to believe that paying a 2, 3 or 5 year old debt is a good thing when it's really only good for them because they are getting paid. But until it actually comes off of your credit report, it will always be a negative for the consumer regardless if it's paid or not. So don't let creditors convince you that it's a good thing to pay old derogatory debts, because as long as it shows on your credit report (paid or unpaid) it's gonna go against your credit score.

So, at that point, I advised ** that I wouldn't be paying the bill since paying it would not improve my score. At that point, First Premier Bank's billing specialist ** became very ignorant, arrogant, verbally abusive, and to some degree, narcissistic. And naturally these low life customer service representatives can be this way because they feel safe being in another state and another place so that they can talk to you like you are scum and garbage. And after reading other comments from other First Premier Bank customers, it seems that First Premier Bank authorizes their representatives to be arrogant rude and nasty to customers. It's really nothing more than internet bullying on the part of a big bank who feels they are untouchable and can treat consumers anyway they please.

That's why these forums are very good to advise people and to give them detailed insight on what to expect from a company that should hold themselves to the utmost standards of respectability, but they settle to be less than human when dealing with people who may have run into a glitch somewhere. When I called back to First Premier, I put in a complaint with the supervisor which is how I learned that this guys name was ** (they wouldn't give me him full last name), and I also submitted a report to the BBB concerning this event. I don't expect anything to ever happen because, apparently, this is the norm with First Premier Bank. But I'm gonna certainly be the fingernails on the chalkboard for them for a little while.

First of all I need to mention how the phone reps "I" was in contact with were not very good at speaking English and had very thick accents! Plus they gave me false info that was important to me and pertained to my account with their company First Premier Bank, which then caused a bad reflection on my credit score. Even though they did fix the part where I didn't have to pay the penalty fee, it still reflected poorly on me, even though "I" had done nothing wrong. Also just recently I have closed out my second card (which is a whole other story on why there were two) and boy did I get a surprise! Not only did they penalize me for not giving them enough money, supposedly I was also late but the lady I talked to never told me there was a set time to pay the card after it is closed out, I just needed to make monthly payments. Yes I am a newb to credit cards, figuring it out as I go. Not only did my balance go up my credit score took a huge dive.

Now I also need to mention on how I paid my "two" cards when they were both open. I always tried my best to make my payments early and close to double if not double my minimum due. And when I closed out my first card, I paid it right off and this time I am not able to do that. So I think they were lucky to receive payments from me after I closed this latest account. Now for why there were two cards I had with them. So I guess when you do really well and they want to reward you they give you a raise in credit but the stipulation is, it has to be on a new card. So they can hit you with a whole new set of interest rates and you know what, I was stupid enough to fall for it and now look where it has gotten me… Stuck between a rock and a hard place!!!

I tried to settle this dispute today with some guy named ** from their collections department. I told him what I am able to do, which is keep paying and they take back what they have done to me since the latest card closing or they keep reporting to my credit score because I am not giving them one more penny after the way they have treated me today and over the past couple years. NOPE I AM DONE and luckily I have two way better cards reporting good on me, so it may take awhile to get over this and get back to good standing but I'll take my lumps and First Premier can shove it where the sun don't ever shine. So please please don't do business with this corporation they are only out to drain you financially! One last thing if you don't do automatic withdrawal payments to them from your banking institution they make you use Western Union. Who will charge you 3.25 for the transaction and they don't even guarantee your info will be safe!

They said they would send a new card, after they lied about the first one, but that took almost 2 weeks also. I told them also that the first payment due date was too soon and they said they would reset the account and the due date, ANOTHER LIE.

After the due date (that wasn't supposed to happen) passed, and I was charged a $27 late payment fee, then they put a HOLD on my card, so I called them again. They said there was no message from customer service to reset my account so that I don't have to make that payment. I asked them to waive that late fee and take the hold off my account. They said they can't do that until I paid $60, which was double my original payment. I asked to talk to customer service. They said they can't let me talk to them until I made a payment of $60. They call me all hours of the day and night. They harassed me over and over and over again. I am getting charged $97 for a payment they say at a of just one month is $30. I explained to them that every time I bought something I paid in full every time and was told that it would catch me up for 5 months with the payment since I paid in full every time that doesn't matter. 1 month of $30 and I'm getting a $97 fee is absolutely insane. This company should be taken to court and shut down. I also found out that they are not accredited company. I am so angry about this. If anybody has any suggestions on what to do please let me know. I will never use them again.

Absolutely horrible! Cannot believe that I fell for this trap. I got this card to help with a cross country move, and making payments on it is such a headache. You have to call about two days in advance, and they charge you all kinds of stupid monthly fees. Forget about the payment due date, there is none. You have to pay an extra C in order to pay on the actual due date. Not to mention the humongous interest rate, and also the monthly fee that is absolutely ridiculous. Completely waste of money and ridiculous. Do not ever ever ever ever get one.

Premier is a good starter for those with bad or no credit. This card helped me get my score back up after reckless spending as a young adult. Yes, there are fees and yes they are high. But that's the cost of rebuilding or building your credit. Pay your due and fees and only use the card in an emergency. Now I have a Chase United Miles card. That's a big step up and all I had to do was make my monthly payment here and keep up with everything else. If you're looking into a card to help rebuild your credit, then check these guys out. They charge an interest fee and a monthly service charge of $14.50 so your monthly payment starts at $35.15 and if you follow the statement date it could be as high as $45.00 without making a charge. You must track your monthly charges to include ALL FEES not to go over limit or there will be another fee of $34.15. Yep we are now up to $69.00 for one month.

I want to warn other about this First Premiere Credit cart account. First off the fees are high for the card under the guise it helps build credit. It doesn't help your credit for years if at all. Next they also play a game charging "servicing fees". What that is I have no idea but have been hit with 40$ in a single month in them. The game they play? You have a low 300 balance. You get a "servicing fee" when your balance is 0. Now it's 40 bucks. You don't send a payment because you owe nothing. Now it's late 35 more dollars. You are reported to the credit report agency as a late payer. 30 days have past another late fee and servicing fee, you are now max credit limit and a fee for being over limit is tack on. All because of a service fee that is criminal, you have a few hundred dollar debt and worse credit. DO NOT GET THIS CARD IT IS NOT HELPFUL AND IS UN-AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I was thrilled to get the so called $400 credit line but they did not tell you upfront that they would be taking $99.00 of that initial $400.00 right off the bat, for some kind of annual account fee . Then every month after that, you would get charged monthly for this fee regardless to the fact if you used the card or not... I had to pay another $95.00, so called activation fee upfront before they would even process the card. Then they tell you that you will get your card in 5-7 business days and the 7th day was stretching it as she said it would be sooner than that. Well... Here we are on day 14 and still no card but however we did manage to get our first bill already. Got my first bill within 4 days of opening the account. I called to ask where my card was only to be told 6 different things and for the agents to keep interrupting me and hanging up on me each time I called. Even had a supervisor hang up on me!!

I finally just called today to ask again why my card did not come yet only to be told ANOTHER date again. So they keep lying saying a different date every time we call. So finally after be hung up on 4 times and the 5th time by the supervisor on the floor I called back again and just told them to cancel the entire thing. Only then did I get threatened by that agent about ruining my credit for canceling the card and the account... After listening to her go on and on about how it was going to hurt me if I cancelled and her trying to offer me a small $10.00 credit, I was finally able to cancel the entire card and account. She then assured me my refund would be back on my bank card in 24-48 hours. Guess we just have to cross our fingers on that one... But the last agent in the cancel dept just made me feel like poo saying basically this is what we get for having less than perfect credit. I will never do this again and I DO NOT recommend this idea to anyone EVER!!!

Good day to you. In concurrence with Stacy's 01/23/2015 review of the "First Premier Bank Credit Card", my experience with them approximately 7 months ago was nearly identical. Payments submitted via draft from my checking account were likewise "rejected for invalid checking account number". Attempts to correct the situation via calls to Customer Service was often met with incompetence, conflicting information per representative, and bad attitudes. The billing cycle, posting cycle, and time cycle for drafting my checking account when the draft actually worked proved convoluted, confusing and more often than not, caused the incurrence of fees. Soon thereafter, First Premier closed my account due to rejected payments. Last week I received another "Pre-Approved" First Premier credit card. The attached letter directed me to "www.60SecondPremier.com" for activation of the card.

Curious to see what was there, I googled that site today where finding many pages of similar named sites mingled together with scathing complaint after the next against First Premier. After visiting 4 of these so-called "card activation" sites, I found them each to be the domain of several companies ads and links. I was hoping that First Premier had changed their ways for the better. Again I am very disappointed in them. The 1-star rating I rendered which translates as - "angry" was only given because it is mandatory and significant of my mindset concerning there being no negative numbered star ratings available. If so, First Premier would receive my uttermost demerit.

Where to begin, this story could be a novel. By far one of the worst, if not the worst, so-called Bank you can possibly deal with for anything!! Had a card with them for over two years, always paid 5 times the minimum. The company I worked for recently closed for good and am now unemployed and awaiting money from unemployment. What savings I had go for the electric, heat, and food.

First Premier is not a priority in this situation. Other companies understood and worked with me...not these fools. The calls started at 9 in the morning and went on until 7 at night, 4 and 5 times a day. They don't seem to know or care about the rules governing repeat calling in the 50 states. My sick elderly father put a halt to it last week since the home phone thankfully is in his name. Now they call my cell phone, but fortunately the carrier has blocked all unidentified callers or restricted callers from day one for me. I can see on the phone's log report at least 5 calls a day for over a week already. Thankfully I don't get the calls nor does the phone ring so I only find out when I clear the phone out.

But how stupid can you be, if you get a message saying the person does not accept blocked calls?? Why would you keep on calling, unless you are brain-dead?? Don't get involved with these clowns even as a last resort, a shady two branch Idaho bank, that doesn't even have an email address!! Probably not a real bank, more like a loan sharking outfit, that only employs people of society that have IQ's the size of door knobs, and no one else would ever consider hiring. Certainly not a true bank, they would be asked to leave during the interview. Uncaring, unprofessional, arrogant, dumb, and downright obnoxious too. The list could cover volumes but I don't want to rant needlessly.

I received the letter in the mail yesterday. You know the one... The one that has that little hard object just under the right thumb when you hold it. You see the return address is a credit card company, and then the eyes graze past the part that reads, "pre-approved!" I opened it, read over it, because hey, I'm trying to fix my credit like the rest of you. I couldn't find any information about the APR, fees, or anything else relevant to my decision-making process.

I log on to the web address provided, began to fill an application in hopes that "important information" might be brought up. On page 2 of the application, I noticed a link on the left side of the page that was labeled as "Privacy Policy and Other Important Information." I right-clicked, open in new tab, and nothing - a blank page. I right click, open in new window, nothing - a blank page. Reluctant to lose my place in the application (I didn't want to have to refill out all of the credentials on page one again), I clicked on the link once more. Still, a blank page.

As someone who works on the internet 9 hours a day, I found this to be odd. No other links on the site took you to any real page, just blank pages, with no domain name in the URL. This cannot be a real company, or if they are, they need to fire everyone who does IT services for them, starting with the hosting company and webmaster. I Googled the company, and decided to look at reviews. I came here, read the first 15 reviews, mostly because they were good reads, and noticed a trend.... Extreme hatred for the company, and extreme praise.

Those of you who hated had a lot in common - fees, ill-communication with customer service, and having had to pay more at the end of the day than you got out of it. You guys win. This company blows, and is not really a company, but a couple of smart kids (probably in their 20s by now), who developed a way to get rich and never have to make eye contact with you while they financially ** you back into the days of scraping change for gas money. Not cool First Premier Bank. For Shame!! I took the application letter, walked over to my fireplace, and quietly let it go as it drifted its way towards that tall flame, so warm.... So peaceful.... So safe from financial perverts. :)

Never, ever take this offer for this credit card. OK, so my credit was not good so I accepted the 11 dollar a month fee plus the high interest rate. Actually, very high at 35%. After paying on this card for a year with never having had a late payment and always paying more than the monthly payment, they raised the monthly fee to 14.50. Well, that was it and I called to cancel the card but not without an argument from the lady that worked in that department. She actually argued with me for a couple of minutes as to why I should not cancel the card. The card has cost me about 26,00 dollars a month to maintain with the fee and high interest. My limit was 700 dollars. I am just about done paying this card off and will NEVER go back to them. Please, do not take this offer. Try Credit One or Legacy. They will at least give you a fairly decent interest rate and NO monthly fee. I cannot believe this company can get away with this. Oh well, a hard lesson learned and glad to be done with them.

    Reviewed Dec. 4, 2014

I have had a First Premier Credit Card for almost two years. I go the card after reading the terms knowing it was going to be expensive, but I needed to find a way to rebuild my credit after life circumstances destroyed my credit. It has done exactly what I needed...rebuilt my credit. Pros: It has helped rebuild my credit. Because I am using it as a tool to build my credit, I pay it in full before the due date every month. I pay by debit card over the phone and schedule the payment for the next day, so I don't have to pay the convenience fee for same day payments. And I never have to talk to customer service. The debit card payment is reflected on my account every month by midnight on the day the payment is processed and the credit is available the next morning as long. I can reuse the credit the next day after I pay. After the first year, my monthly fee is $6.25. I never charge the card up to more than my credit limit less the monthly fee of $6.25. I am never charged interest! First Premier has raised my credit limit twice.

They have offered me a second card for managing my account well, which I have declined to accept because I now qualify for better credit cards with no fees and cash-back. Once I have my new no fee card(s) for 24 months and have built a long enough credit history with the new card(s), I will close my first premier account. But it has served its purpose well. Because I have managed it well. They do report to the major credit bureaus and I now qualify for other credit including an unsecured signature loan for $3200 which I also used as a tool to rebuild my credit.

Cons: First Premier does charge a huge fees for opening an account and your card will come with those fees deducted from your available credit. They charge an extra upfront fee if you want to add another card for a family member. The interest rate is HIGH! They charge large annual fees for the card, extra if you have more than one card user. They charge a one time fee to set up online access. They charge extra if you want to have online or telephone payments applied to your account the same day you pay. They charge a one time convenience fee if you decide to sign up for online access. They charge a fee for every annual credit line increase, if you choose to accept any offered credit line increases. My monthly fee after the first year of using the card is $6.25 per month. If you make payments from your checking or savings account instead of your debit card it takes several days before the credit to be available for your use. The key here is in order for First Premier to work for you, you have to use it wisely. Pay it off monthly, and the cost is minimal and well worth it.

After a positive interaction with Premier Bankcard, Keith increased their star rating on Dec. 30, 2014.

    Updated review: Dec. 30, 2014

CON's: In trying to pay off my balance before Christmas, I decided to check my 1st Premier online statement today, which initially I had to pay extra to have online access. While justifying the charges on my account against the receipts, I noticed that 1st Premier debited my account $25 for what they itemized as a "returned check fee." During my previous phone calls to 1st Premier concerning the delay they imposed on my e-check payment (see review of 12-02-14), I had advised the 1st Premier agent then that instead of waiting up to 20 days for them to apply the check, I would pay the amount of the check with my debit card, and after they applied the debit card funds to my account, I would stop payment on the check.

The agent never once mentioned that 1st Premier would then impose a returned check fee of $25.00 for MY FIRST PERSONALLY ASSURING THEY HAD THEIR PAYMENT PRIOR TO MY STOPPING PAYMENT ON WHAT WOULD FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES BE AN UNNECESSARY, DOUBLE PAID-IN-FULL PAYMENT DURING THE SAME STATEMENT PERIOD.

After hearing from today's 1st Premier agent that the returned check fee was applied as it was disclosed in both the member agreement and my contract with First Premier Bank, I asked the agent to go through the phones notes annotated during my previous conversations concerning how the 20 day e-check delay could be remedied. After a brief pause, the agent on the phone with me advised that the $25 fee would be credited back to my account, which the credit would take two to three days to make it back to my card.

PRO's: For once I was fortunate enough to FINALLY get an amiable and helpful 1st Premier credit card agent on the phone when calling them to either increase my credit limit by making an additional $300 deposit to my secured credit card account, or to close my account and find a secured card elsewhere. I'm happy to report here that after a thorough explanation from the 1st Premier agent, I decided to utilize Western Union option and the very next day my credit limit was increased to $500, which the $500 limit adequately meets my needs as far as rebuilding my credit and managing my money each month.

Thanks for getting it right for a change First Premier!

    Original Review: Dec. 2, 2014

In order to begin to repair my credit, I recently applied for a secured card with several credit card companies. 1st Premier's $200 deposit was the lowest amount I found for a "secured starter card," so I went with them. I made the $200.00 initial deposit by debit card. The money was immediately removed from the available balance on my debit card and it was deposited by 1st Premier three days later.

As others have mentioned, I too received the first statement prior to receiving my credit card. The gist was that I had already given 1st Premier $200 and from the statement I received, they were advising me I owed them $50 for the annual fee on a card I hadn't received. I called 1st Premier and was assured the card was in transit. But after reading over a dozen of these reviews, it is obvious that this is a chronic problem that 1st Premier has created and further propagated for both themselves and their customers.

While awaiting for checks from my bank, I would periodically pay "chunks" of the balance on my card with my debit card. The credits were always applied by 1st Premier within three days. However, after receiving my checks, I chose the option of initiating an "e-check" payment to 1st Premier drawn on my checking account. (I generally pay my bills in this fashion from that bank account.) WOW! This is where the real problems began. Regardless of when they receive payment by a check, or as it appears in my case even after 1st Premier has actually received the funds from a check into their account, 1st Premier Bank, unlike any other bank I have ever heard of or dealt with, has decided to arbitrarily and without good cause, in my opinion, HOLD SUCH PAYMENTS FROM BEING CREDITED TO CARD HOLDERS ACCOUNT FOR "UP TO" TWENTY (20) DAYS! Twenty (20) days?! Why would they do this knowing the money has already been received and deposited into their account?!?

During my phone calls, that's plural, repeat CALLS to 1st Premier in an attempt to have the payment monies credited to my credit card account, I was advised more than once that AT THEIR SOLE DISCRETION, they can hold the funds from being applied for twenty (20) days. Of course you all know what this may mean, right?

This could mean, as I understood 1st Premier's agents during our phone conversations, you could make a payment just like I did, but let's say you did it ten (10) days before your due date, and then 1st Premier could actually hold the payment from being credited to your account until after the due date. Luckily for me, due to making smaller payments through my debit card, my due date had been moved up to the next calendar month. When I required that 1st Premier's agent justified not crediting such a payment to a card holder's account, each and every time I was given the spiel that since THE TWENTY (20) DAY HOLD was mentioned in their disclosure agreement, they could exercise this "loophole" with impunity both from their card holders and or those agencies with financial oversight of their business practices. There is no shortage of lenders that have and are continually taking advantage of people that have had problems with their past credit and or their current credit ratings. In my opinion, 1st Premier is purposely not trying to separate themselves or stand out from this "herd" of predatory lenders.

In closing, yes, 1st Premier's interest rate(s) and annual fees are ridiculously high. Additionally, good luck trying to receive a credit line increase and or finding out how to get an increase by way of adding to your initial deposit. In my opinion, the whole of 1st Premier Bank's overall business practices and its agents disdain for card holders are situated squarely at the bottom of the barrel with regards to being a reputable financial institution, with which someone wanting to improve their credit worthiness should be associated.

I honestly wish I had read these reviews prior to opening a secured credit card account with 1st Premier. If I had, along with the understanding that hindsight is always 20/20, I believe I would have waited until I was able to start a secured card with another bank for the minimum $300 deposit. (NOTE: Loophole, as I used the term herein, is my paraphrasing of what I was advised by 1st Premier's agents over the phone.)

I've had a credit card with the company for a year. Come to find out, after the first year you start paying a FIFTEEN DOLLAR per month "Servicing Fee". This is on top of a $50/year annual fee and an interest rate in the high 20s. The worst part is, while most companies will work with you on your terms and rates as your credit improves and you stay loyal to them, FPB really couldn't care less. Other companies that I have cards with have raised my limit, lowered my interest rate, and removed my monthly fees. FPB just keeps getting worse, instead of better. With "Age of Credit" being a determining factor on your credit score, I'd certainly recommend that anyone considering this card for a long-term account look elsewhere. There are plenty of better companies and better programs out there.

My biggest complaint would be their customer service, their automated system is incredibly long winded, to do anything. Their representatives are RUDE and today I did a balance transfer to my new CC with a better APR no monthly or yearly fees. I cancel the card and pay off the 14.50 (balance) I had. They tried to keep me as a card user by providing a $25 credit. I declined, then the agent rudely said "your acct. is closed, bye" and hangs up! They didn't offer to credit the 14.50 or to take the payment , so I had to call back and use their automated system. The other thing that was frustrating is that they CHARGE for having an online acct! Hmmm trying to make it harder for us to keep track of our balance and make payments - that's nice. They also CHARGE for same day payments. I'm glad I don't have to deal with them any further.

At Premier Bank, you are punished for being a customer for more than a year. Monthly fees are applied beginning your second year as a customer. In my case, it's $14.50 per month. This was buried in the fine print when I signed up. Do the math: That's $174 a year in "monthly fees" alone, and it is in addition to the high interest rate, as well as the annual fee. I suspect that the "monthly fees" are how this greedy bank can dubiously prey on poor people who are trying to reestablish credit. Furthermore, forget customer service - all they seemingly care about that you pay your bill on time, and can't seem to give you a straight answer or explanation in regard to the bottom line of what you're paying for this awful credit card.

The paid my card for about 3-4 months then all of a sudden they claimed they weren't receiving my monthly renewal paperwork. I would fax it about 10 times; eventually I started sending it USPS sign required. Later I received a second card offer from 1st Premier which I only accepted to hold me over with my bills until I received a lump sum payment I'm expecting. I accepted the second card offer and on the day I received my card I received a letter from First Premier (the first card account) stating it had been suspended for fraud. The exact letter says “We are unable to verify the credit from totaling $ that posted is valid. A copy of receipt is needed, account has been suspended.” No further info was provided, no amount or charge merchant information. Since I haven't really used the card except for misc things like gas and it gets paid every month because my insurance covers it, I have no idea what the heck is going on.

I just think it's really unprofessional how they send me a vague letter and tell me none of my purchases will be authorized. I'm just glad I did not pay a bill that charge $35 return payment fee. I believe First Premier actually charge you to speak with customer service representatives too, this is ludacris. I'm seriously considering cancelling my existing card and new card. I'm very leery as to how future business will be conducted on their part if they are so unprofessional regarding suspected fraud activity. Usually a credit card company will call you or send you an email as well to inform you or show some kind of info on your online account. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to make the payments. This, unfortunately ended up on my credit report ETC, ETC. About a year ago, I was sent an offer in the mail to flip over the amount I owed onto a new card. The limit is about 450.00. I said fine - I have paid it off several times and used it several times. I have really had no problem with them. They do charge an 11.00 fee for the representative to process the card - but so does my car finance company.

I find that if I send my payment via bill pay through the bank, I do not seem to have much of a problem and my credit card is credited within about 3 days. I am unsure about the fees as I have no fees that have been assessed to my card. They have been a godsend as far as rebuilding my credit. I have really had no problems outside of an occasional rude customer service rep, but everyone has bad days. I always pay my bill on time outside of twice and they waived my fees due to their mistake (or mine).

I think they are ok as far as rebuilding your credit. If I wasn't stupid to begin with, I would not have needed their card. Their interest fee is not as high as some I have seen for bad credit of 59%. They only charge me 23%. I say that is a bargain. My experience with 1st Premier was not a positive one. I had numerous issues over an extended period of time with them calling me at my former place of employment even after I specifically told them not to call me there. I worked at a state/ local government agency. Personal calls were against policy. I always gave them my personal contact number which they also had on record in their files and they could leave a message at, which I would return when on breaks and lunch. One of the reasons I lost my job was their numerous calls to my employer.

I feel it is necessary to mention that auto payment arrangements were set up and had been set up for months prior where they received auto deduct payments each month from my bank account. When I lost my job, I immediately called them to ask them not to withdrawal the auto deducts in the future since the loss of my job meant there would not be enough in my bank account to cover the auto deducts in the future months. They refused to work with me and auto deducted again which caused a snowball effect of banks fees, NSF fees and other monthly bills such as rent, utilities and phone not getting paid. I was on unemployment for quite a few years until a few months ago.

With the drastic cut in my income level, paying their bill was a lower priority after rent, job hunting costs, food etc. Again, I tried to call and work with them. They wanted payments that I could not fit in my tight budget and they treated me as if I was lying about having lost my job and being on unemployment, working part time only for an extended period of time. About 6 months, after my balance hit 90 days past, the account was charged off. Now 5 years later, I finally found a job making close to the income I made at the job I lost. The current amount that their charge off is showing on my credit report is more than double what the original balance was due to penalties and interest.

All my other bills from that time period are paid off except for this one. I am planning on working with an attorney to address this matter since I have not had much if any luck when dealing with them directly in the past. Additionally, in approximately 2011 or 2012, I applied for and received an Orchard Bank card to help build back up my credit, which is now a Capital One card (I believe Orchard may have been purchased by Capital One). I have been much happier and have had none of the issues I had with First Premier with Orchard Bank and now Capital One. I highly recommend Capital One over First Premier given my experience with First Premier! It took me many years to find a job at that level of income and in the meantime charged off the debt.

Well, I am a senior lady and a disabled veteran who is going through a very stressful divorce here in Hampton, Virginia. I have just perused other complaints on this disreputable bank, and I sure regret the evening in October 2013 when I applied for a credit card at First Premier. As a 65 -year-old lady who happened to begin my Social Security benefits, I was amazed how so many companies wrote to me in October with marvelous, incredible offers! I hit the fish bait with this company"s offer! Ahem, what an ideal opportunity to pull this big ol" fish in!

I applied for a $500 limit credit card one evening, just when I realized that I was approved to move to a lovely senior community on the Chesapeake Bay. Oh, I neglected to mention that I had emergency surgery about two weeks before my move! I didn't get much sleep during this juncture. Go figure! I paid off my husband's credit card debt last year; all finished as of December first. Yup! No credit became very good credit this past year! God has truly blessed me! I did max out the card at my local Walmart a couple of weeks prior to my move! Such great offers on towels and kitchen stuff! Yet, I really have achieved a very good credit rating during one and a half years! All bills paid on time or some have been paid ahead of time!

I began to pay my First Premier credit card $50 a month right away, then realized that I had been duped into all kinds of fees and an astronomical interest rate! The astute businessman who noted how one is encouraged to pay the monthly bill right on the payment due date is so very correct! I just kept paying $50 a month on the phone, and when I realized how my payments did not show hardly a dent, I called to find out what the heck was going on. The gentleman who spoke with me assured me that I probably hit the wrong button on my cell phone when I paid the bill on the due date as suggested prior... He informed me that each time I spoke with a live rep. that a $11 fee would automatically be charged to my account!

I then called to close my account, and a rude woman transferred me to a supervisor, who was even MORE rude and irate! He basically threatened me that if I terminated my card, that the bank would be forced to charge me fees that could reach about $1,000!! When I insisted that I would have to speak to my excellent lawyer (True) and he must send me a letter that stated that I had cancelled the card... He changed his tone considerably! He then agreed to work out something, and he would send me a hard copy of my termination of the card immediately! Wow! I actually resorted to my Scots Irish roots! Happy Day!!!

I HAVE spoken to my lawyer about this bogus, disreputable "BANK"! Now the amount on the bill is $425! I do not lie! I am a sweet ol' lady, indeed! But, I am also a Vietnam era veteran, a Hospital Corpsman and an Emergency Medical Tech. I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to finances! Yet, God graced me with the achievement of my dream in 2000. I graduated cum laude at Seton Hill University with a double major in Graphic Design/Illustration & Art History...Despite two skull fractures and so on accrued in the military.

I am blessed by a great God! Indeed, I am so much! Time to reempower myself! This company apparently been in the news for its tactics... Light always wins over darkness, my dear young ones. Don't let the smoke and mirrors get you down! It is good to choose our battles. My empirical knowledge warns us all to ask our Father about everything! Thank you all for letting me vent! Today, March 25th, 2014, I called in the morning, and was told by another rep that it will take 90 days, from March 16th to receive my refund check, unless I fax a "Faster refund request" to 605.357.3446. I attempted to send that request three times and the faxes kept coming back as "failed"/busy. I then called a second time today March 25, 2014 and spoke to the 4th representative I have had to deal with, Wilma. After being put on hold for a while, she tells me that I already have a request for refund in the system from March 17th, and should expect it in 30 days. So naturally, I asked, If I closed my account on February 15th, and was told at that time that I would receive my refund in 2 weeks (14 business days), why I am now having to wait an additional 30 days? I was then told that "the account was queued to the wrong department originally, but redirected to the proper department on the 16th when I called the second time." "Sorry about that."

As it made no sense to me that I have been told 4 different stories, and recounted every single date and story again, I was put on hold one more time, and was now told by representative Wilma, "After reviewing your account again, I can verify that your check was sent out in the mail today, March 25th." Really, Wilma? It took me proving my case that you all have lied to me 4 times now to finally get MY money in the mail. Your company will charge a huge interest rate for being a day late with payments, but when it comes to refunding my deposit, that I sent to you over 9 years ago... which by the way... my starting deposit was only $200, and in 9 years I only gained $43 in interest on that "savings account". I will give until April 1st, before I call them back and possibly take other measures. Hopefully I will not have to go there. In short... Do NOT Waste your time or money. Over the 9 years having this card, I probably paid them 10+ times what my initial deposit was in interest and fees.

How best to sum up dealings with First Premier Bank. Fees, Fees and more fees. All of this along with poor customer service. This "bank" is the definition of a predatory lender, housed in the bank friendly State of South Dakota. The fees are terrible, up to $223 a year in fees for doing nothing with the card, just having the possibility of having the credit available. Typical charges in the sub-prime market are $99/yr. They also charge $20 for online account access, typically free with most all other companies. Bottom line is, use a loan shark or payday advance if you need money. Dealing with one of these companies is cheaper than working with First Premier Bank.

She was very helpful and friendly, she said they can hold it for 20 days but the held mine for a week. She advised me to pay with a debit card because my funds would be available immediately. I agree this card has high rates so I pay it off before they can charge interest. This is a high risk credit card. If you had high risk insurance because of a DUI you would pay more. The $11 fee for paying your bill the same day is a penalty meant to teach you to pay your bills early. Bottom line... if you can't pay off $300 a month don't get a credit card.

Wow! Where do I possibly start, first off this bank has given the worse experience known to mankind. They have horrible customer service. The people are not nice at all. If you hate your job simply quit. I dare them take their anger out on the customer who are bringing their income. Every experience I ever had with speaking with someone on the phone has not been pleasant. For example speak with a woman recently, her voice very agitated, not helpful at all, not apologetic, and also seemed to be ready to get off the phone.

I am in the process of building my credit and was given very helpful tips to keeping it on track so here goes my story. I started off with a 500 dollar limit, paid bills, shopped etc., all in all I end up paying off the balance. I noticed after I paid it off First Premier had withdrawn their money immediately and my available credit was not available. I called them to find out what's the hold of my money because they clearly got theirs and they told my money will not be released until the following. I do not understand that if I paid them and them take their money instantly why is my money not being released instantly. I just never could wrap my mind around that idea.

So I did the same thing once more shopped, brought groceries, got gas etc, then paid it off not even full partially 481 dollars and once again they did the same thing. I find that bogus to play with a customer's money. How can you take someone's money and not release it back to them when they have taken care of their balance? After I eventually let those situations boil down. Another month goes by and I was getting ready to pay my rent when I call my card they tell me my card has been SUSPENDED immediately, I furious.

I knew there had to be a mistake. I kindly called them to see what the mix up was and they told me that I had made too many transactions on my card recently (which were nothing but payments) so they suspended my account. I find that to be so dumb. You're telling me that because I am loyal and good customer by paying my transactions off when the card is used, you suspend my account. They wanted to do all this bogus stuff that didn't make sense and as a customer I was highly unsatisfied. They did absolutely nothing to accommodate the situation. I feel like they pretty much said because I was paying them regularly, it was against their rules or something along them lines. All in this entire bank is a horrible and when I get the money to get rid of them this will be the first thing gone. I hate First Premier and they should not exist any more. They are a complete rip off and they do not live for their customers and making sure they are satisfied.

I've very sorry to hear that so many people are having problems with this card but really... this is how subprime credit cards work. Many of you are bemoaning having to pay a bunch of fees up front but you are told all of that in the disclosures that you ignore. Okay... so they are holding your payment to ensure that it clears. Yeah... that's what bad-credit credit cards do. Half the stuff that I am reading is just the nature of this kind of business. Sadly, when you are in the subprime category, this is pretty much what you can expect. I current have one of their cards and I will probably close it. I worked very hard on my credit and now my FICO is in the low 700s. From both sides of the argument, it's business. They squeezed every bit of fees they could out of me and I used them to improve my score. We are even.

After reading all the complaints about this company, I am going to stick with them. I just recently received the pre-approval in the mail and accepted it. They are only taking out 49.97 fee so my initial credit will be 650.03. I am completely fine with this. Why? I pissed away my credit chances when I was younger. I was young and dumb. Did not have a real job. Looked at a credit card as a joke. Spend all their money and not pay them anything. All it did was lead to the hardships I faced until recently.

I make over 55k a year but I can't get a loan to save my life. Why? It goes back to what I mentioned in my younger days. Being young and stupid. This company to me seems like a credit REPAIR company. Seeks out people with poor credit to help them rebuild. If they report every month, why not pay the little extra to rebuild your credit? If you were using your credit the right way in the first place, you would have said "no, thank you" to this company. You would have been getting offers from the Capital Ones and Bank of Americas of the world with reasonable interest rates.

My goal is to spend this card only for gas... Pay it off every month IN FULL for an entire year. Starting in the 13th-15th month, I should start receiving better offers from other credit card companies such as the Capital Ones of the world. If you used your credit wisely, spend no more than 30% of your credit limit and pay in full every month... YOU WILL HAVE AN ALMOST PERFECT SCORE. So do not blame these people on their rates. Pay your bills on time and in FULL and you will see light at the end of the tunnel.

My wife paid a few items with our Premier card which came to 225.05 but what Disney world does is not charge your card till you show for the event. So my wife thinking ahead pays the 225.05 to zero our account so it will have no balance. So we show for the event and we are brought a receipt and I pay the 225.05 for the cost of the event on a diff card not thinking about oh we paid that earlier in the month. What do you do when someone brings you a bill? Yah, you pay it. So then we get home and my wife starts freaking out about our account being overdrawn 225.05. So we call Premier and they say that our card is in the fraud department for suspicious activity.

Come to find out, it is in the fraud department because they owe us 225.05. Easy math. We paid early then we paid at the event so they owe us the 225.05. So they suspend the account because they owe us and they want proof that we paid at the event. Really? To make matters worse, they pulled this crap with my wife's card so we closed the account and they were quick to report it. Another thing they told us is that this would not be a problem had we had a balance. Wtf. Are you serious? I found myself in a position where I needed to rebuild my credit. I know that it is my fault, and I am not making excuses. However, First Premier Bank specifically targets people that are in unfortunate positions, and tries to profit from misfortune. I applied for a First Premier credit card, and was accepted. I read some of the basic conditions; such as APR, late fees, annual fees, etc., and decided to take the card anyways. After paying the $175, non refundable, fee to get the card, I used it as I would any other card. I made sure I paid it off, and used it sparingly, due to the outrageously high interest rates. After about six months, I wanted a credit increase. I called customer service, and they told me that I would be charged a percentage (I forger what percent, but it was high) of the increase. I declined.

After having the card for a year, I stopped using it, and kept a zero balance. However, after the first year, I received a $14.95 charge for an account maintenance fee. Weird, I thought. I didn't remember if there was a yearly fee, so I paid it and had a zero balance again. Next month, same thing, a $14.95 charge. I immediately called and asked what the charges were for, and was told that it is a monthly fee for having the card. Knowing that this is a high risk card, I was understanding. I asked if they would waive the fee if I had a zero balance for the month. They said no. So, I asked if the fee could be reduced. They again said no. I asked them if I could upgrade the card to one of their better cards as my credit score was now in the 700's. They said no. Feeling a little attacked, I told them that I had no recourse but to close the account.

I was immediately transferred to another department where I could close the account. The woman I spoke with was not helpful. She kept lecturing me on how important it is to have good credit, and how I shouldn't close the account. She even tried to sell me additional credit monitoring services while I was trying to close the account. After telling her on four separate occasions that I wanted to close the account, she finally stopped the hard sell and cancelled the card. The whole experience was terrible overall. It cost me approximately $20 per month just to have the card. That is ridiculous. If you need a card for rebuilding credit, I recommend Capital One. Even their secured card is better than the card from First Premier. At least you get your money back if you cancel the Capital One card.

So after the year pass and I was turned down for a credit increase I called customer service to cancel the card. They told me "why would you want to cancel the card?" Not only that but I am not going to pay a fee every month to have the card. Then instead of them trying to close the account down they offer me another card with a different credit limit of $400.00 with an annual fee of $100.00 so you can double your credit score. I asked her "why would you offer me another credit card with a different amount instead of you guys increasing my credit line?" She never responded. That does not even sound right. "How is that being beneficial to me?" I ask. Someone needs to look into this. Actually it is a little scary.

They are so rude! I have so many credit cards and they all work with me! I have just to find out they charge you a fee every month to have the credit card and if you are over the limit then you owe more! I spoke to a rep today and said I pay every month but I'm struggling. You think she said sorry to hear that??? No! Super rude! Then I said I have 7 credit cards that do not charge me a fee every month. You know what her response was? "I have credit cards and they charge me fees. That's not true." What kind of customer service is this?

I am a supervisor at a customer service and I would never respond that way. Like I understand I am responsible but they're rude, they don't have any sympathy and they are the worst credit card company. Even if you are let's say 20 dollars over the limit they call you like 3 times a day! Worst mistake ever! Do not, I repeat, do not get this credit card. Even if you have bad credit this credit does not help you, only make you end up owing more!

I went to pay my credit card bill on the due date with my debit card. I was told that there was an $11.00 fee to expedite my payment. I feel that this is an unfair charge that was not included in the terms and agreements. Since when do you have to pay a fee when you pay on time? When I paid with a check a week ahead of time, they held my payment for twenty days to clear the bank. What options are left? I do not recommend any body take advantage of this service. The banks were bailed out and are now taking advantage of the people they preyed on. We now have to build our credit back using these so called Banks that prey on us to charge people that pay on time.

I applied for a First Premier Bank credit card, and after reading the horror stories, decided to cancel the card. I received a bill for 106 dollars for the annual fee and card for my husband. Got called to have a new card sent and second card cancelled. I'm scared now. The "Rep" I spoke with was very friendly and accommodating. She stated that I didn't have to pay the 29 dollars for the second card since I never used it and was receiving a new card.

As of yet, I have not gotten the reordered card but decided to contact Julie **, whoever she is, that responded to complaints from other people. I sent her an email requesting my 95 dollars back and the card be cancelled since I only applied for it to build credit after I file my bankruptcy in a few days. I wasn't going to use it for anything but to pay one of my usual bills for the month and pay it off every month. I explained that if they failed to assist me, all I would do is put them on my bankruptcy and explain to the federal court why I had to file on them so close filing.

I never had any real credit problems except medical bills and a judgment through no fault of my own. You can't make me pay for service I never used and I will probably place them on there just to be safe. Thanks to everyone who came forward with their issues with these losers and next time they harass you, inform them of the debt collection laws.

Unfortunately, like many of its users, I thought I needed the credit card to try to build credit history. Boy was that a mistake. Now I am stuck paying their stupid $7 monthly fee and $45 annual fee until I buy a house next year, because I don't want to ding my credit by closing the account (although the responsible thing to do would be to end the relationship with them). But once I do purchase my home, they are gone and out of my life forever and I will never stop advising people against them.

This past month I failed to pay the bill because I had built up a credit on my account of more than $30 beginning last February, of which they happily held onto (my Capital One credit card issues me refund checks when I overpay). I currently have a past due balance of $2.00. Yes, that's right. TWO WHOLE DOLLARS. I realized this when I got three phone messages on my answering machine today, urging me to call them on a very important matter (eyes rolling). Checked my account balance, and now I owe $27, which includes $25 penalty for my $2 late payment. I've kept a credit balance with them for months and they ding me on $2. It just seems so ridiculous. It's hard to believe they even employ business practices like that. Email reminder, ok. SMALL penalty (there should be some rule that allows for waiver of fee or smaller fee if you have a past due balance of $5 or less), okay. THREE PHONE CALLS? Not okay. $25 penalty despite perfect on-time payments for 4 years??? NOT OKAY.

My warning is this: DO NOT STOOP TO THE FIRST PREMIER LEVEL! Have some dignity for yourself and your future credit history by using a prepaid credit card, preferably through a major bank. That way you are in control of the account and not some B-rated bank company just looking for a quick way to make a buck, even if it is at the cost of customer service. Hell, even a JC Penney charge card is better. Target, etc. Anything but First Premier and every other bank that charges high fees and monthly "maintenance" fees, despite that they have the worst website and online account maintenance design I have ever seen for a credit card/bank company.

Good luck, and I will update with my experiences with closing my account, since I see that several other reviewers have been hassled while trying to close their account. FYI, I've attached a snapshot of their website home page, misspellings and all (look for "picuture" under card customization, which can be done, for a "nominal" fee, of course - gag). Also, I wanted to further elaborate on other posts about their credit increases - they only give them if you request them, and pay the $25 fee per increase, for a $25-75 increase. HA! This company just really takes the cake for worst bank ever.

I have been with Premier for now 4 years. It has done me no good. My credit limit is low and has not changed even though I pay monthly on time. I get charged 7$ every month and a yearly charge of 40$. I would not recommend this to anyone. When I call to cancel, they try everything to keep me with the company, but recently I finally said no. The people are rude when you call and the interest rates are high. Not to mention the amount of time it takes for them to post a payment. It does not take any time to come out of the bank, but it takes forever for them to realize a payment was already made on time. This is a nutshell and I could go on.

The customer service stinks with this company. The reps are always rude every time I call to ask a simple question. I have been with this company for almost 4 years. The interest rate is very high and the credit limit has never went up. I feel like I'm paying for a card every month that I rarely use because most of the damn payments go towards the interest rate & finance charge. Once I start making enough money, I am going to pay the account in full, close the account, & go with a better company.

I have made numerous payments to them and they never show it on my statement, or they say I didn't make the minimum payment when I have. They also changed the amount due and say there is a late fee every time, and I pay it early. So far, to date, they have not acknowledged the $600 that I have paid. I have called them numerous times and have not received any help on this matter. Meanwhile, they just keep adding more fees and interest. They call our house at all hours and on holidays every hour on the hour. It is, honestly, harassment. They also are very threatening to me when they do call. I honestly do not know what to do. I am a nineteen year old college student and I used this card for school.

This bank has became rich by giving consumers who want a major credit the worst interest rate and fees in the world. I’ve had this card for 10 years with the same $300 limit. Paying the monthly $7 plus finance and yearly membership. The best thing you did for me was close my account... I have officially paid it off. They are quick to report 31 days or late and over limit on your credit report, but slow to increase your credit. Don't be fooled, you will never be done once you get the card. I missed one EFT and closed both accounts. Thanks for nothing, First Premier. I believe this bank is subsidiary of Chase...

This company has ridiculously high fees. Even though the credit limit is 300 dollars at the start, you will not get that because they take more fees off the top of it. That's even after you pay the enrollment fee. Then, when you pay your bill, it takes them forever to credit your account, thus a penalty will be added. Even if your account is closed and you are not using the card, they keep adding the penalty so the bill just goes up and you never get it paid off. It is a total scam. It will not help you build credit.

On several occasions, I have made 2 payments in 1 month only to be told 3 months later that it has to be by a certain payment date. Now, I have sent in a check from a financial institution in which I took out a consolidation loan and was paying 1/2 the card balance only to be told it would take 20 days to post... Seriously!!! There is no way that a check takes 20 days to post especially when it's a bank that wrote the check... Horrible customer service and late fees and overlimit fees because of the late fees because you made a double payment before the statement was sent... This really should not be allowed. This is why people cannot get out of debt. Capital One is a much better company.

For convenience, I chose to enroll my monthly payments online, using the bank instruction and e-mail, www.mypremiercreditcard.com. I was told of only one payment of enrollment fee, the amount of $4.95. What the bank "forgot" to disclose is the company servicing the bank payments of customers is a third party servicing company who is charging a fee of $4.99 for each payment. I tried to clear this inconvenience but it's impossible. The credit card company, First Premier Bank, is sending me to the bank and the bank is sending me back to the cardholder company, both of them claiming they did not charge this fee. I can't find out who is charging me and with whose approval. I think some of them commit a FRAUD. Please help me to end this inconvenience and find the truth.
