This company is a rip off. They charged me a fee to hold the card, on all of my purchases, $125 annual fee, a monthly processing fee and credit protection fee. Your bill is $40-$50 before they include your purchases. I have 3 other credit cards, none with all of these ridiculous monthly fees, they are ripping people off (Beware). I paid in entirety which was over $1000, just to get rid of the card, I paid in full and cancelled the card and everything and the next week they tell me that they are still billing me for all of the monthly fees and that the person that closed the card (at my request) forgot to tell me that I'm still responsible to pay the monthly fees. Now they cut-up in the garbage where it belongs.

I won't wish my worst enemy to bank with First Premier Bank. Why? Because they are nothing but scammers. First, I paid $95 ACTIVATION FEE, then paid $75 ANNUAL FEE in advance, then LOADED MY CARD UP TO $300. I used it to build credit. But I changed my mind after a few months, and tried to cancel my account, thinking that I would be able to do so in a few minutes. Contrary to my thoughts, First Premier Bank charged me $328.00. When asked what those charges are for, they said they were my unpaid balance and late fee. When I heard that, I laughed due to their absurdity. How can First Premier Bank charge me $300 when it's up to my discretion to load my secured credit card?
As for credit, they denied me of $30 credit right before I tried closing my account. Conclusion, First Premier Bank never heard what my husband and I tried to say; "$300 was my money I used up. You, bank did not give me a dime of credit at any point. For you to come at me with $460 (as of today), you need to provide us with FACT SHEETS." Their operation is insanity. Repeating the same thing over and over again expecting different results. All they do up to this date is to repeatedly call me and repeatedly tell me I owe them $460. Do not ever get any credit card from First Premier Bank or become their customer. They are scammers. They never answer your questions either but try to distract you. They have sent my "bill" to my credit and now I have a delinquent payment posted by a scam company, and they keep on harassing me over the phone.

I use my card and on day 1 the card is declined. For some reason it has been suspended. I contact customer service and accept responsibility for any and all charges. I am told to wait about a week. After 2 weeks, I receive a verification request in the mail. I contact customer service and am ready and willing to get this over with. I ask if I can take photos and send via email? I am informed that this company does not have email?! GTFOH. They require your personal info to be sent in an envelope for review. In addition, the request states, "process may take up to 30 days." GTFOH. SMH. This week I am paying off and closing the account. After paying $95, and having usage for half of one day, it is only fair that I blow up the customer service line to voice my dissatisfaction with the entire experience. I do not anticipate reimbursement, so $95 dollars buys me repeated explanations that I just 'don't understand'. Lol.

I got a preapproved credit application in the mail. Trying to improve my credit so I applied with the confirmation number given. It looks like the other legit offers. I instantly got approved for 400 limit and no card. Started to get worried about the card being lost too then do more research to learn they needed to collect 95.00 to activate my card, TO SEND MY CARD REALLY. No way will I pay upfront fees for this. Not like any other cards I've had. Then I read all the reviews online, with terrible ratings. Good thing I'm just a little naive. More worried that I provided my personal information, so now I have to keep an eye on my credit score which I do anyway. What a disappointment and waste of time!

Please only get this card if you have no other choice. The fees are ridiculous. Make sure you pay 2 to 3 days before the payment is due because, if you pay the day before. It will be credited as late then a late fee added plus an annual fee which should be processed in January. But in December which is added to a monthly fee. It it's a Bad gift that keeps on giving...I'm buying a house and can't close my account out until after closing. Can't wait!!!!

So I received this card like 3 years ago and oh my god, I cannot finish paying it off, they make you pay fees and monthly fees which any normal credit card doesn’t do, and they don’t even tell you about this until you realize, I would never ever recommend Premier Bankcard, they take all of your money and you still be paying off your credit, and on top of that you get a call literally everyday that you over the credit limit. This credit is BS.

I asked her about the bad reviews on this company. She said, that is because all these customers are doing something wrong". That was enough for me.

Opened an account and made payments right after purchases in order to build credit faster and wouldn't you know it they SUSPENDED account because they needed proof of account information (this is provided at the application stage...morons). They have held the funds in account for over 15 business days and said they mailed a letter requesting bank docs (sent via fax to them over 13 business days). When I call their Customer service it's the same song and dance that it's being processed. Today I am filing a formal complaint to the BBB in their area along with the CFPB and expose these losers for their unethical practices.

I’ve been going back and forth with them for over 2wks. My husband has let me use his debit cards to make payments in order to not be late on payments, bc you know...that tends to hurt your credit score, which defeats the purpose of ever opening the account. I was advised to send faxes of both cards I used and my husband had to advise permission was given for the payments. My account was noted but NO ONE...absolutely NO ONE has called to advise the info submitted didn’t suffice bc his name wasn’t present on one card, which it was. His name was on the front of that card but card info on the back, which is why I submitted 2 pics.
We also submitted the letter again bc they wanted the note to be signed. We did...still currently waiting. I will be contacting the CFPB. I’m also very sure that there is a UDAAP violation in here somewhere. Especially with the hurtful effects we as consumers are/maybe experiencing. I’m just confused on how being a good customer gets you these results.

I opened my account in September of 2019. My credit limit is $300 and monthly payment is $30. Since September I have only used my card to rent a car to visit my sick mother. I have always immediately paid the balance off right after I returned the car. I rent multiple cars a months so on average I pay roughly $700 a month to First Premier Bank/Credit Card. I use the same bank account that I have always used since I open the account.
On 12/10/19 I contacted First Premier Bank/Credit Card company regarding a payment I made to my account on 12/6 that was already cleared from my checking account. I spoke with Tammy, who placed me on hold and called my bank on conference call. I verified my identity with bank who confirmed with Tammy at First Premier Bank /Credit Card that the funds did clear my account.
Tammy then released the funds and 3 days later I received a letter stating my account was suspended and in order to reinstate my account I need to fax them confirmation for the payment that Tammy already verbally verified with my bank, and that it's my bank account. I immediately contacted the First Premier Bank/Credit Card to informed them that Tammy, the CSR acting as a representative on behalf of First Premier Bank/Credit Card had a verbal confirmation with my bank on 12/10.
I was told, "Yes we see that, but lost prevention needs documentation that it's your account and the payment did clear your account." Confused, I said, my bank has already confirmed verbally that the payment cleared and I had to verify my identity with my bank before they would release any information about my account when I was on a conference call with Tammy. Again, I was still told to fax over proof that it's my bank account and the payment has cleared. So I faxed over everything they asked of me and my account is still suspended.
I have called several times and the only response I get from CSR and the Account Supervisor is "we don't handle that is this dept" and "we are unable to transfer calls to lost prevention" and "will make a note on your account". How is it possible for my account to be suspended after you already contacted my bank and received a verbal confirmation that the payment has cleared my account to me faxing over written proof that the payment has cleared and it is my account to still not have access to my funds? All I get is, "We will make a note sir, nothing else we can do."
This is by far the worst level of customer service I have ever received. The lack of compassion and understanding by this company is horrible. I have been attending therapy as a result of this frustration with plans to move forward with legal action. It's time that we all take a stand and fight back together within the law to prevent companies like First Premier Bank/Credit Card from acting reckless and negligence. If we don't take a stand now, many more people with encounter the same experience we all have. All it takes is the drive to make a difference, writing on these sites are good, but we need to take this to the court room. Please feel free to email me directly at ** if you would like to join the legal fight with me.

Like everyone here I only agreed to the ridiculous fees and 36% interest to raise my credit score like a good little consumer. I had two cards with them for years. I was NEVER late. I NEVER missed a payment. I ALWAYS paid early and it was always more than minimum amount. It was always a nice balance - not maxed and not shallow. I was by all accounts an ideal customer paying his weight in interest every single month, early or on time. I received an alert from Experian's service that monitors your identity and finances for fraud which stated they had found my info on the deep web.
A hacker or group stole millions of personally identifiable customer information (email addresses, first and last names, full LinkedIn profile data, browsing history, passwords and more) from two different companies that while are unrelated, both specifically buy, gather and sell that sort of parcel and grouped data and info to any advertising agency business or whoever will pay (like Google does) making them ideal targets.
Shortly after I checked my account and found several small PayPal charges that I didn't authorize or make and hadn't noticed previously and they had been going for a while. Paypal uses your route and acct number, and unlike a debit card which is apparently very easy for a bank to filter out charges when someone has your checking or bank account info there isn't much you can do. So my bank's only recourse was to create a shadow account doing some behind the scenes bank type work which unbeknownst to me in effect changed my checking and routing information. They said my paycheck's direct deposit and everything "proper" would still go through, but now they could block the fraudulent charges someone instantiated with my stolen credentials via PayPal.
Auto pay through First Premier's own site attempted a payment I set up previously. I did not owe any minimum - as previously stated I'm always ahead on my bills. So they never missed anything owed to them at that time - but nevertheless since the Auto Pay hit my former account and route numbers it bounced back. This single attempted charge, not owed and set up by myself to be a good little consumer was apparently cause for them to shut down both cards I had with the company. Again never missed a payment, never late, never over. I of course reached out to customer service and the second they heard the topic it was if the line went dead. The rep cut me off mid sentence and said there was nothing anyone could do. She told me to get what I could on bank letter head describing the issue and why the one unneeded payment I scheduled early through autopay came back as null and to send a fax.
Their Payment Services/Fraud Dept. has no email or phone number. Can you believe that in 2020? They can't even transfer a customer directly to them if you were to call into regular support. They are only reachable via fax. So I did - and nothing changed. I wrote all this for two reasons
1 - Always read all you can tolerate of terms and conditions on applications and sites that have either personal or payment related info.
&
2 - For the good of your credit and FICO score, please stay away from this sham that calls itself a business. An amazing alternative is Credit One. No issues there and they actually talk to customers and even bother to sound like they care.

I had credit with First Premier Bank Master Card. I started with a $700.00 credit line and asked for a credit increase. They approved $100.00 and billed me $25.00 for the increased. I paid off the account and ran into some unexpected expenditures. So I called First Premier Bank Master Card to ask for the account to be reopened. The Representative I spoke to said the account was reopened with the $800.00 credit line. The next day I telephoned to confirmed that the account was opened and to make a purchase. The account was not reopened and I was told it was in the stage of my identity been verified and was given a Fax number for me to fax over credentials. I faxed my drivers license, social security card, my voter registration and my ATF License. It has been 5 days and still the account has not been reopened.
I’m canceling the account and will never ever do business with this bank again. They have absurd annual fee, monthly maintenance fee and their interest rate is very high. First Premier Bank are Loan sharks. BEWARE. I do not recommend. Read all the reviews. Out of 5 stars rating they rate 1 and that 1 star is really not merited. More like a 0 star should be their rating. Beware. If you do business with first premier you will be sorry.

First Premier credit card I received in the mail within 10 business days. I made several payments but my balance never reflected the payments I made till 2 weeks later. I used this card to build my credit. I received a notice in the mail saying the account I used for payments was discontinued after they tried 3x to draft my account for $40. I set up a payment for $40. Called and informed them my card was stolen so the account was shut down. I made the payment with my other checking account. They still kept trying g to take $40 out of an account that I informed them was closed.
I received a letter saying my account was suspended. I called. Asked why. I was told my account was closed because they attempted the payment of $40 a total of 4 times so it was considered fraud. I asked to speak to a supervisor and I asked her because I wanted to make sure I was clear on what I was informed. I asked her the company closed my account even though I made the $40 payment and informed not to attempt to withdraw the payment because the account was fully closed. She stated, "Yes that is correct." I asked, "Is that in the notes on my account," she stated yes. I said I never was late. Paid early at times and it's closed because of a mistake that you all informed me would not happen and it did.
She stated yes. She said, "But we can reopen it if you send something from the bank saying the a couple t was closed due to being lost or stolen." I asked when the check came back what was the reason. She paused then stated for closed account. I said, "But you kept trying the payment 1. when I called and informed you of the status. 2. When I was told that the continuing drafts will be stopped and 3. The error code even said closed account." She said, "Yes. This closure will be on your credit." I stated, "Okay I will dispute the reason and in the meantime I'll pay the balance in full." She told me I can only pay the minimum payment. I asked was this policy in their terms and conditions. She said yes. I said, "Can you tell me what page because I didn't read that." She paused for a minute and said, "Well it's a company policy. It wouldn't be in the terms and conditions." I laughed and said ok. I sent them a postal money order and paid the balance in full. Good luck if you chose this card.

August 2019, I received an alert from Experian that one of my credit cards reported as "over the limit". I went on line and found that some unknown person had charged my card over $300.00 which put it over the limit. I got this card to rebuild my credit in 2015. I paid the card off in July, 2019 but continued to pay the monthly fees to keep the card open in the event of an emergency and as to not hurt my credit score. I immediately called First Premier and spoke to someone who clearly could care less. She asked me if I would like to cancel the card and issue a new one. I said to cancel the but DO NOT issue me a new card, close the account. Soon afterwards, I received a dispute form in the mail, which I filled out and sent back immediately.
A couple of days later, I received a new card in the mail. I did not open it, because I expressly stated I did not want another card. About a month later, I received a notice of a Late Fee. They had transferred a balance of $54.00 onto the card I did not want for some unknown reason, since it was disputed and Experian stated that the dispute had been resolved. I called and spoke to two people, the latter I explained the entire situation all over again. She said that she would take care of the balance and close the account. Now 90 days later, I receive notice from Experian that the First Premier account is 60 days overdue and the balance is $139.00 because they have added fees to the balance that should have never been there in the first place.
I got this card because I was trying to rebuild my credit, but their practices are to keep you from gaining that goal. They are manipulative when you speak with them and their goal seems to not care about the truth and keep lying to you to keep you in debt with them. If you can, I would give you this advice...DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM. You will find yourself in a situation that you will regret. I understand that people get themselves into financial situations and use desperate measures. I've been there. I am sure if I did not take the first thing that came along to "help", and thought more about who I would be dealing with, I would have changed my mind. Do yourself a favor, if the situation is dire and you need a credit card, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE and don't go to First Premier.

They continued to charge a fee each of of $15, which I paid only because I didn't want it to affect my credit score. My interest rate is 36%, so there is no way I would use this card.
This past September I get my new paperless Bill notification and it had a $60 Fee, plus the $15 Fee and then a credit protection Fee!! So I called and talked to a customer service rep. I explained I would just like to close the account, and not pay the $60 fee because I did not intend to keep or use the card. I did pay that months $15 fee, which she accepted. Since then I have received a many calls, which to them I am past due. I have gone over what took place over and over. They then sent me a letter explaining I needed to verify that I wanted to close my account with a letter or fax, which I immediately faxed. Again more phone calls! Be careful of this credit card. The other fees are $7.00 to $9.95 monthly fees depending on your credit limit. There is also a $48.00 Annual fee as well! Included as well is a late fee of $35.00 which they can waive that fee once a year. They were kind enough to extend my credit limit to $700.00 after about 7 years due to my credit score increase. I have been thinking about canceling to get my $200.00 dollars fee back from securing it. Now they say my card is not secured, which means, where did my $200.00 go? I have a First Premier Bank credit card. Initially I obtained it for credit building in January of 2019. Following the advice of my consultant I was to spend about $50 transaction a month and then pay the balance down to $10. I’ve don't that and can see the reflection of where it has improved my credit. Now the problem comes when one time a portion of that $10 balance that I left was part of the previous months bill, so they suspended my card. No big deal. Paid them and was able to use my card again. Had to use the card to help pay bills sometime for a few months, but always paid my balance and never late doing so.
Now fast forward to September 2019 I go into a store and try to use my card. It gets declined twice. After leaving I call the company to inquire as to what’s the problem. I find out that I am again with a suspended card, but this time for making TOO MANY payments to my account, and the only way to gain access again is to fax them a picture of my debit card that I use to pay my balance and prove my identity. Now this is the card that I have used since January to pay my balance and it’s never been a problem. However now all of a sudden it is one.
To top it off, who do they think in their right mind is gonna fax a picture of their debit card to someone. They’ve suspended my account twice within 9 months and both times without a warning or notice or any communication as to why UNLESS I call to find out. One suspension because I owed $5 and the other because I pay my balance that I owe them. Screw them and save yourself trouble by staying away from this company.

I applied for this card to rebuild my credit and I began making a lot of payments using my debit card in one month, I almost had my current balance down to zero dollars then all the sudden I noticed my account was suspended and I called customer service of Premier bank, they tell me, it's suspended for making too many payments in one month, they saw that as suspicious. I explained to them idiots, I am trying to get the balance down below the recommended 30% level before Premier reports to the credit bureaus and that's why I made a lot of separate payments in one month and I couldn't afford to pay the entire balance all at once. I also said, I've never heard of making "too many payments". It's NOT like I was abusing my credit, NO, I was paying them money almost every week to pay down the balance.
So to resolve this, they want to see my bank statement showing my debit card number to lift the suspension. I told them, "What's in my bank account is NOT your business" and my brother who's a bank examiner and my sister who worked in the mortgage department at a bank for years both told me to pay off this balance and close this card out because it's ridiculous they are complaining cause I made "TOO MANY PAYMENTS" in one month.. To me, THAT sounds suspicious of them. I told Premier bank, they are hurting my credit more than helping it by suspending it cause I paid them too often. Stupid.

My name was spelled wrong on my initial card. The "a" was missing from the end of my first name, due to my last name being hyphenated. The supervisor fixed it, but refused to send me the right card, until I pay my fee. My argument was I don't mind the fee, but I didn't have to pay first when I ordered the card and got the card with the missing letter. So when I get the card with the right info, I will pay the fee. She said no. I told her that's not in the terms and conditions. If I get a wrong name I can't use my card, so I should pay money then get card when it was their fault to begin with? Absolutely not!!!

I closed my account on 3/28/19 with a zero balance. This Premier Bank credit card company reopened my account without my knowledge or permission and put through an outrageous charge of $450 plus a $6.10 fee. I immediately called them and reported it as fraudulent and after only a few days they've put it on my credit report as the card being closed on 4/28/19 with a balance due of $456! Avoid this credit card company and if you have their card be very, very careful. I've opened an investigation with Master Card and if I don't get this resolved, I'm going to call my State Attorney General's office. I highly suspect people within this company of making that fraudulent charge.
When I called them to close the account, they just kept trying to get me to keep it open. I made it more than clear to them that I did NOT want their 36% interest, $96 annual fee card anymore. They gave me a "closure" number so I wrote it on the envelope, cut up the card and thought that was the end of it. Next thing I know, I'm getting another card from them and then a letter saying they suspect a fraudulent charge on my card (which was supposed to be closed). Now they have reported the card as being closed on the 28th of April (a whole month after I actually closed the account) with a balance due of $456! It has made my credit score go down and every bit of it is nothing but fraud because I paid the card off to the penny and was assured the account was closed! Consumers beware! This is NOT a reputable company and there are plenty of other credit card companies who don't do shady things trying to ruin your credit.

This is the worst credit card company out there. If you are trying to rebuild your credit seek elsewhere. I made a payment 2 weeks ago that cleared the bank on 4/12 and they still haven't posted the funds to my account. This is almost $400 of my money they are holding and making interest off in their bank account right now. They are saying it takes 30 days to post what?!? Are you kidding me? I paid $95 processing fee and a $100 annual fee. WTF was I thinking?!? I have been calling customer service and supervisors and managers for 2 weeks now to have my money released so that I can use my card and no one will help me.
We called the bank and they verified the funds posted and we even faxed the check from the bank to First Premier showing that it was cashed by them on 4/12 and they still haven't release my money to my account. I'm ready to get a lawyer and sue them. Once it's credited I will close this account and call it a day and dispute the processing fee and annual fee changes with my bank. Lesson learned will never use this company again.

This month, we made a much larger payment to get the balance (and their outrageous interest charges) lowered. Shock of all shocks... they show the payment was made, but have suspended the account! Premier Bankcard provides a great avenue to improve a credit score and creditworthiness, it's a shame that this system provided by one of the greater philanthropists in the banking industry is being abused and dragged in the mud by consumers. The backlash seems to come from mismanagement of one's finances and lack on understanding of the credit industry. Credit is a privilege, my advice is if you hold yourself to higher standard one that doesn't revolve around entitlement this is a great tool to prove that. If you had some slumps in credit like I have, this card provides monthly credit reporting and as long as you eat the fees (because why would a major credit card trust your crummy credit history) the road is yours to drive on. Food for thought, you do the dishes. A scam this company is definitely not.

I've had this card for 7 years and had my first experience with $400 in unauthorized charges. They didn't reverse the charges or apply a temporary credit due to the fact that they had to do an investigation which takes a 60 days. I was told that a temporary credit is not guaranteed or may never be considered at all. I find that to be incredibly insane! What happen to zero liability? The dispute process is very antiquated and dated. These unauthorized increased my utilization rate and decreased my credit score by 15 points!
Unfortunately, I cannot close this card as it was the card I opened to rebuild my credit 7 years ago which would wipe out my oldest credit card age. While I was disappointed with their antiquated dispute process, I applied for a Navy Federal Cash Rewards credit card and was approved for $25,000 credit limit which I should have been approved for a $40,000 credit limit with the $400 temporary credit. I've had my First Premier Credit card for less than a month, so it is too soon to give either a great or terrible review, so I chose 3 stars. I do however have to say that many of the reviews are terrible, but I wanted to comment on some of the reviews that scared me the most. In my experience so far: I was in fact able to sign up for a FREE online account. (I read repeatedly people say that they had to pay). My card worked immediately. I used it online and at the store, without incident. (I read many horror stories of it not working so I put that to the test). I paid over the phone, using my bank card as soon as the transaction cleared. (No problems making my payment either as others stated. The payments were free and posted the next business day).
I was able to call and choose my own payment date because the assigned didn't work for me. I did not have to wait on the phone long and the employee wasn't rude or anything either as many stated. My credit score went DOWN but that is normal when opening a new line of credit and it will recover in time, as long as I'm not using it much and paying my bill. Only use less than 30%, preferably 10%, and always pay your balance off in FULL by the due date to avoid the interest charges. As stated, I haven't been a customer long, but as of now I have not had any problems other than the initial dip in my credit score. I will revise if I run into problems that are NOT related to ME misusing this card.

Updated on 07/02/2020: I reviewed this company and card about 2 years ago, and I wanted to give another update just to reiterate how absolutely terrible this company is and I truly, genuinely hope that you stay as far away from this company as possible. My previous review talked about how I had 2 credit cards, and both were closed due to a payment issue on one of the cards and First Premier couldn't be bothered with work with me.
Well, the card that didn't have the payment issue has been paid off for a long time. Earlier this year, they started charging me a monthly fee for the account. But the account is still "closed", so why am I being charged? Well, upon further investigation I discovered that the account isn't really closed, more so "disabled" until my other account (the one with the payment issue) is paid off. Okay, fine.
Well, the other card with the payment issue is now paid off. Has been for months now. However, I still don't have access my "disabled" card but I'm still being a charged a monthly fee. Can I get anyone on the phone? No. Of course not. So, I'm sending a letter via certified mail asking them to close my account, and to refund the monthly fees for my account that I haven't had access to in over 2 years. I'm not holding my breath that this is going to be an easy process. Again, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE stay away from this company. Go with Merrick Bank, go with Credit One, heck... get a secured credit card. Anything is better than this company and their shady practices. Don't make the same mistakes I did!
Original Review: Like many other reviewers and cardholders I've seen around the Internet, I got a credit card from First Premier because I was desperate and I wanted to rebuild my credit. Long story short, my first credit card from them had $300 limit. Right off the bat, they charged a ridiculous $75 annual fee, bringing my available credit down to $225. Whatever, I needed the card anyway. I used that card for a few months before getting another offer from them, this time offering me a $700 limit. I jumped on it as I thought it would be nice to have an "emergency" card. Again, another annual fee.
I used the cards and made the minimum monthly payments for a while. All was good, and while I wasn't too happy with my interest rates, I was just happy to be able to starting building my credit back up. That was until one month when I logged onto the website to make my monthly payments as usual. I went in, selected the option for "minimum payment due" for both cards, selected the bank account I wanted to use and the day I wanted the payment to come out and submitted the payments.
Next thing I know, FP is blowing up my phone, telling me I missed my payment for my card with the $700 limit. Um, what? My records show that I paid it, the money has come out of my account so what's the deal? Well, turns out according to FP, my minimum payment for that month was $20 more than what their website stated. But of course, they had no records or any documentation that says the minimum payment I saw on the website was any different than what their system says. So because their website said I owed them $50, I paid them $50, but they actually wanted $70, I was screwed. At the time, I couldn't swing an extra $20 so I just had to let it go. They charged me a late fee, naturally.
The next month, since I still "owed" them $20, plus the late fee, plus my the payment for that month - was just too much for me to afford, and FP didn't really care. It snowballed until they closed both of my credit accounts (yes, even the unrelated $300 CL one that didn't have any issues). So now, even though I took out these cards with the intention of rebuilding my credit, FP is now hurting my credit even more, and I'm stuck paying two credit cards that I won't even have access to the line of credit again once I pay them off.
Moral of the story: Stay as far away from this company as you can! They don't care about you, or your credit. They are dishonest, and will nickel and dime you for anything and everything they can. Even if you're desperate, go to a more reputable company like Capital One, Bank of America, Chase, Citi Bank, or even your local credit union. Even if they don't approve you for an unsecured card, you'll likely qualify for a secured card. Sure, you might have to make a deposit, but trust me, it's much better for you and your credit in the long run.

I had filed ch7 in 2004 due to massive medical bills and have not been able to rebuild my credit since then. I received a offer from Premier Bank in 2016 and I was excited that a credit card company was offering me credit that wasn’t prepaid. The terms was no monthly fee just a yearly fee of $75 and a startup of $99. So I paid the $99. Confirmed my identity since I have a identity theft warning on my credit (my identity was stolen as a teen). After a year of comparable interest on my card and on time payments I received a offer of a second card thru Premier, again same terms but a higher credit limit. I had asked about a credit increase and was told my account was too new (12 months) when I received the offer, so I called and the agent and she confirmed the offer was real, terms was the same.
A real estate agent told me I needed 3 forms of good credit and my vehicle needed a lot of work, so I accepted the new card. It’s been a year since I open the second card and I noticed that when I would pay 40 or $50 on each one of my cards my available balance would only increase by six dollars to $10 a month. So I looked at the statements today and Premier has been charging now the equivalent of $30 a month for one of my cards and interest in monthly fees and the other card is nine dollars a month in interest, which I understand the interest portion. So I called Premier Bank today and spoke to a rather rude man who told me after I explained to him that I did my application over the phone. The offer was for both cards. No monthly fees. Low interest rate with a yearly maintenance fee which I accepted. After all I needed to build my credit.
He informed me it doesn’t matter what age it tells you when you were doing the application that they have to go off of the agreement that is sent in the mail which I never received and then he informed me that all pre-acceptance letters have the information stating there is a monthly fee as well. When I told him mine stated no monthly fees he basically called me a liar. Told me that you have that Premier Bank is doing everything legally that they’re accredited and they won't to be in business if they were scamming people and I asked him. I said how was it not a scam when the minimum payment is 35 I pay 40 or 50 instead and my available balance only increases by six dollars.
How was that not scamming people and he told me, "Well it doesn’t matter. Do what you gotta do. Turn us in but you are the money now." I’m not denying I don’t know the balances and I’m going to get those paid off. I’ve never been late on a payment and I won’t be late on a payment but the fact that they’re taking between both cards they are taking between 60 and $80 out of $100 a month that I give them and putting that towards fees and then they turn around and charge a yearly fee on top and they don’t even give you notice of when that comes out which causes overdraft fees on top of that this company is a scam. As soon as I can I am closing out my accounts. I’m going with another card company.
This company has literally in two years: thousands of dollars when I only use my cards maybe once a month if even that and I’m not getting anywhere when I making my payments and I making larger than my minimum payments. Stay clear from this company. They take advantage of people with low credit scores who are desperate to improve their credit score. You can’t even rent an apartment without good credit and they’re taking advantage of people knowing this fact. I will admit, like everyone else I was desperate because I had bad credit. Saw a chance to improve it and pay my bills. Young and on my own for the first time I was scared and just wanted to ya'know...not be homeless. I applied for the card and paid the stupid fee. Then I found out about the $125 taken off the top...backwards and wrong...but I disregarded it because I would still have enough to pay my bills. Then I got myself in deeper than what I could handle so it became difficult to make the payments but I did. I enrolled in auto pay. One day my bank was negative so I switched the account that the auto pay was attached to. Not only did they not change the account like I asked but attempted to take the money out 3 times. Which put fee on top of fee with my bank because I didn't have the money in my account and they returned the payment. That's a $35 fee for each.
So for every time they put it through to the wrong account I was charged a total of $70 in fees. That's $210 in fees from them processing a payment to the wrong account 3 times. It wasn't until after about 2 months of not making payments that they cancelled my auto pay "per my request" but I didn't mind because they had been racking up fees with my bank anyway. Pair that with the fact that they had been calling me several times a day from a "private" number starting at 8am, I have had enough. It wasn't until they finally left a message, 'cause I don't answer private numbers, that I knew it was them calling me. I've had this card for over a year and it helped me out when I was in a bind but all the trouble that came with it was not worth it.

I called customer service, and the response I received was "well... Give it another 14 days". Umm... My bill is DUE in LESS than 14 days. So you want me to pay my first BILL before I can even utilize or build my credit? I already paid your 95.00 fee. The customer service rep's answer was, "Well, it was mailed out the 22nd." So I guess it takes a MONTH before you will get your card through these clowns, and you'll be paying credit card bills before you can even USE it. I explained to the customer service rep that if I don't get my card BEFORE my bill is due, I am NOT paying it. Sorry... No services rendered means no payment.

I was offered this credit card with no deposit and a required annual fee. I didn't really need it as I have successfully been on the right path with my USAA credit card (great card by the way... if you qualify). I was thinking because I only have 1 credit account open, why not have 2 with one I only use for incidentals (First Premier). So immediately after I opened it, I paid it completely off (their *fee) and didn't touch it. While the payment "posted" the same day I paid it (through the app) a week later the credit limit had not change and the balance due remained the same.
It still showed me owing them money, even though I paid it completely off and it shows online and via the customer service rep. However, no one can tell me when the payment will actually post. I don't need to credit but I do find it fishy that a week later, they are still dragging their feet on posting the credit. My USAA credit card posts... immediately, regardless of the bank account I use to pay it with. If they get a payment...I get a credit.
Maybe I got spoiled with a good company and am just lost at how in 2017 a company can receive a payment... on time... in full... and still not post it after 7 days?!?! Does this company operate out of a cave in Afghanistan on DSL? Madness. If you're truly trying to improve your credit, "maybe" get this card, just don't plan on ever being able to use it. Hahaha. If you have other options, I highly recommend you explore them. I will continue to keep this account because I recently opened it and don't need a negative mark on "age of account". I have not forgotten about account because this company is reporting to the credit bureau monthly on a closed account in which they closed. I received a letter from the directing officer on 12/22/2017, stating my account was closed due to returned payments and they credited account of $87.00. Between the months of April and October I had somehow racked up a balance of $260~ on a $0 balance from late fees assessed from monthly fees. I paid a late fee on the monthly fee? Oh, and of course that affected my credit score negatively. I paid off the account, then closed it.The retention agent had the audacity to offer me a $25 credit if I kept the account open - I almost laughed if it weren't for trying to maintain some sense of decorum with this farcically extortionist company.
$400 to open the "secured" account, several hundred more for monthly/yearly/'late' fees assessed, and no they don't send your initial deposit amount back to you when the account is closed. Only recommend First Premier Bank to your enemies! This company is greedy because they charge you a $14.95 monthly fee simply for having an account with them whether you have made charges or not, whether there is a balance or not. Just for having their card, you are charged $14.95 a month. Their other fees kick in very quickly, yet they are extremely slow to update their website to let you know what transactions are pending/posted or whatever fees they charge making it easier for you lose track or not know what you're getting charged. This scenario will put you over the limit if you go anywhere near the limit and you face over the limit fees when they tack on their various fees such as interest and other fees they deem necessary.
Never go anywhere near your limit on any card, but especially with these crooks. They take up to 20 ** days to post your payments made from your checking account which is complete BS. I've had one secured card with them for a year and they offered me a second, unsecured card. I just paid them off today and will close both the accounts. This bank scams you in fees because it needs the money... Aside from the initial $95.00 fee to activate the account, there's a $75.00 annual account fee. I got this card to try and build my credit, however in reading the reviews and going through my own experience, I'm led to believe that this bank is targeting consumers with low credit scores and fumbling their payments to charge additional fees. I say this because even with the extremely high interest rate, they're still not making any money off of existing balances, so the objective would be for the financially hardshipped consumer to either care more about their credit rating being affected and just submit and pay, or the report of the consumer's poor credit rating supporting this scamming loan shark of a bank.
I suspected something was funny when I scheduled my first card payment to this establishment through the bank's online customer account portal, I was very efficient in entering my account ACH information and scheduled the payment on time. However, I received a phone call from customer service saying my payment was returned. I was outraged because my checking account could verify the funds were available, and my checking account has been open and active with this nationwide notable bank for 11 years. So I just hung up on the lady because I wasn't about to submit to ANOTHER FEE for making a payment over the phone with a representative, thus admitting to them being correct in pursuing collections activity on my account.
I logged into the customer account portal to verify that my ACH payment information was entered in correctly (AS IT WAS) and re-submitted the payment (IT ACCEPTED IT). The following month, the same thing happened again. Despite the proven acceptance of the previous correctly submitted payment and saved information that I had no need to update... I still received another phone call and it sounded like the same lady; I instantly just hung up! When I logged onto the online customer portal to schedule the payment I discovered that I also received a LATE PAYMENT FEE which depleted the credit limit and pushed it over the limit so AN OVER THE LIMIT FEE was applied. In addition... I had been blocked from making online payments.
To make situations more trifling... when I called the number on the back of the card to make the payment, their automated system undermined my banking establishment and delivered me a message that the banking information was a money order and the payment couldn't be accepted. Luckily I have two checking accounts with the same bank, same verifiable routing number, and within good standing for 11 years. The phone automated system repeated the ACH account information in which I only had to enter in once and correctly, accepted the payment and provided a confirmation number. I'm completely interested in pursuing a lawsuit behind the chain of events resulting in fees with this institution, and all of the previous reviews are supporting facts.
You people need not doubt yourself because this company is minor and the tone set by their business affairs leads me to believe they feel more entitled for extending us lines of credit considering hardships and previous experience. Their intentions seem greasy as if they don't really care to help consumers build credit by sticking to the terms and conditions of the consumer agreement, and without conspiring against the consumer within those terms of agreement as a profit scam to make more money.

Last month, I realized that I may not have paid my monthly payment as I did not see the payment I had made regarding the monthly credit when referencing my payment history. I immediately called the card number and authorized a payment that normally takes 20 days to clear. In the process of waiting, I decided to process another payment via my direct debit (same bank) for an additional amount because I was close to my credit limit. When checking my account again a few days later, I still did not see the auto debit payment I authorized and submitted another direct debit payment because I was afraid I had not made the payment. At this point, I have made three payments, on time to both my accounts and as far as I knew everything was ok.
Around the third week of March, I received a notice from my bank that I had an insufficient amount in my account that I used to pay my credit card off with. This did not make sense, so I checked to see if my payment had gone through and reissued another auto payment (*this time for the amount suggested by pay by phone) this amount was auto payment and not direct debit because I had transferred funds in my account to make sure that all amounts were available to be paid and cover the amounts I previously sent.
I received a notice by the end of the month after a purchase had been declined that my account was on hold for fraudulent activity due to insufficient funds. I immediately called the bank and paid another direct debit payment (this makes three direct debits in the amount entire amount of the payments that were supposedly returned). When speaking to an agent who said I had to fax in copies of my active bank accounts I used to make these payments, I was told days later that first premier closed my account for returned checks.
When speaking to the supervisor on the phone, after I had faxed in the information about my accounts and even tried to explain how I tried to cover over paying my account, I was told my account was closed because the auto payments I made were returned after First Premier kept processing the payments after I made three direct debit payments to cover those costs.
What I find hard to believe about this is, I have not only covered the returned payments via the direct debit payments, I paid my monthly payment on time and now over the minimum payment. As it stands, First Premier closed my account for one returned payment they processed several times despite my being able to prove where I submitted direct payment to them to cover those auto payments and where I transferred money in my bank account to cover the auto payments that were rejected. In one instance, the money I transferred within in my bank account did not cover the second processing because the credit between my bank account happened on the same day First Premier debited the auto payment for the second time.
As such, my account was closed. It should be noted, I am talking activity that has only happened once and during the month of March. Prior to this, I had not been late on my payments since opening the account in late 2015. I have received a credit line increase and was awarded a new card last November. I have called the customer service line who has told me there is nothing they can do and my accounts, both in good standing, are now closed with balances and payments still due. Fortunately, my bank, Wells Fargo, decided to refund me the entire amount of the insufficient funds fee because they didn't understand why First Premier kept processing the auto payments when I made three direct debit payments that covered the auto payment and transferred funds within my accounts to cover any other payment should they keep making it.
What I fear now is my account is closed, they will not open it and I have done everything they have asked me to do. How do I make a proper complaint about this and protect my credit history as there was no fraud. I tried to catch my mistake and correct it and my account has been paid on time since it has been opened. I am not sure what else I can do.

1st of all. I am not and never will be a First Premier customer. The other day I saw a pending debit card charge to my checking account from First Premier card services. I called my bank and reported the fraud. I then called First Premier. After getting the run around for about 20 minutes I spoke to someone who talked like they were trying to talk ghetto to me. I was shocked someone like this would even be employed. I was simply trying to get them to reverse the charges as it was fraud. In terrible English all I was able to understand was it wasn't her problem and I needed to call my bank. I truly feel bad for people who have bad credit and have to deal with companies like this. To make a long story short, I will have to wait 10 to 14 days for my bank to put the money back in my account and First Premier didn't do a thing about the fraud.

DO NOT BOTHER! Something is really fishy with these people. My husband was offered a $500 credit limit, he paid a $49.00 processing fee, and was billed $125... FOR A CARD HE NEVER RECEIVED! How are you offering $500 and taking $175 off the top and calling it an annual fee for a credit line he just got? Wouldn't that make his credit limit $375 in all actuality? On top of that, they had the nerve to tell him they would order him a new card for another $35... I DON'T THINK SO! He never got the first card, which you claimed you sent OVER a month ago, and you people think you're getting more money for another card on top of this bill you just sent. NOT IN THIS LIFETIME!
If that was not enough, when he called to cancel the whole thing they started asking personal questions about WHY he wanted to cancel. Excuse me... HE DOESN'T OWE ANY EXPLANATIONS JUST DO WHAT HE ASKED!! They had the nerve to offer a $10 credit in order to keep this card. WOW! You people charged $49, billed $125, and was asking for an additional $35. The best you could offer us was $10. GEE THANKS!!
Keep your card! AND IF that $49.00 is not refunded in the next couple days like you promised. We'll be calling back! Trust me, you think you know what hell is, when you people tried to take advantage of my husband who was trying to do something good for us. NEXT TIME... YOU GET TO DEAL WITH HIS OTHER HALF. On more than one occasion, they have applied both payments to one card, and then charged me a late fee AND reported me to the credit bureaus.
I finally printed up my bank statement and sent it along with a letter telling them they need to fix it NOW. They did take the misapplied payments and corrected them, and removed the late fee from the card. However, they say they can't remove "accurately reported" information from the bureaus. Hello... they made all those corrections which is an admission of error on their part. In addition, I got no email, no letter, no phone call... NOTHING stating that I had missed a payment when they made the error. That says to me that they are purposely doing that to be able to collect late fees. I think a class action suit should be considered if anyone else has had the same problem.

First off, I have never had a single missed payment on any bill ever in my whole life. This month I am in the process of moving, and I just happened to forget about the credit card bill till they gave me a courtesy call yesterday at 10:38 am. It was the only phone call I got all day by the way, so I didn't "mix up two accounts". I was pretty grateful that they called since I had forgotten, so I just made the payment over the phone. The lady told me that she would charge my card the amount I wished to pay and would credit me an additional $5 for paying over the phone as long as I paid with her right now. She also stated that because my payment was due that day (yesterday) that it was not late yet and I wouldn't be charged a late fee as long as I paid now. So I obviously made a payment. I did have a card on file for payments, but it was previously closed a few weeks ago, so I told her I needed to update my payment information.
She got my debit card information, and asked how much I wanted to pay. Then after she said the transaction was completed she continued to read me a list of things. I think she said they were disclosure papers saying that I authorize payment (they do that every time). I finish the call and hang up. Today, I check my bank to make sure the payment came out okay, and it shows nothing. So I log into my Premier credit card online to check. I now have a $27 fee for being late. I immediately call them to ask what happened, only to be told I never paid. She stated that there is no record of a phone call EVER being made, and no record of a payment. Then she proceeded to just repeat that "no one ever called me" even though I KNOW that someone from this company called.
My card has not been charged any money, so I know it wasn't a scam artist. The lady even read me my last 4 of my card when she asked me to make a payment. She verified my name social and address, AND the previous card I had on file. I even explained to her that I understand it is not in her file, but that I did talk to someone and I gave her the time of the phone call. Yet no one would help me because "there's just no record, so no one ever called". It was not MY fault that the payment was late, yes I forgot, but I did pay over the phone ON TIME with one of THEIR employees. But they just "can't help me".

I just got off the phone with "Lisa" the Account Retention Specialist at First Premier Bank Credit Card division. First of all, she spoke to me like I was an idiot and basically made me feel like crap. I have paid my credit card in full each month since I opened it in 2011. So for 6 years I have had a $750 credit line. This card did help me establish my credit worthiness after we lost everything in 2007 when I sustained a very serious back, hip & shoulder injury in a car accident. We lost our home, our business & our cars because I was unable to work for 4 years.
So I will say this credit card did what it was meant to do. However trying to close the account was nothing short of a Greek tragedy. Lisa kindly informed me that by closing my account I would be damaging my credit because merchants look for longevity in credit lines, which is a factor but I have other credit cards with higher credit lines that also show longevity but don't charge me monthly fees, yearly fees and whatever other fees they want to. In fact none of my other cards charge me a fee - just interest on the credit I use. She talked down to me, was very rude and completely unprofessional when I insisted I do not want this account open anymore.
She then proceeded to tell me she could authorize a credit of $25 to cover the monthly fees until the card renews and then I could call back at that time and I could get a $45 credit toward the annual fee for the next year. To which I replied "then why do you charge a fee if you can give authorization to credit the fee if I call. Just give me the credit of $45 x 4 years upfront now and I will keep my card open because then I know my monthly & annual fee will be covered." She said it doesn't work that way (which I knew she would say). At that point I said "then I would prefer it if you would kindly close my account now since it still doesn't make good business sense to pay these fees."
Needless to say she kept asking me if I was authorized to charge the remaining $6.50 monthly service fee on my debit card and she basically was implying I was using someone else's card without authorization. And then once it was done and I was hanging up, I said "what an idiot" and she said "hey, I heard that" to which I replied "You were meant to hear it - At least I actually said it to you and didn't imply it" and then I ended the call. Freedom from First Premier feels wonderful! Get a Credit One card to build your credit. Don't go into the abyss with First Premier. This credit card company is just not very good at all. I would not recommend anyone that is trying to get their credit back on track to deal with them. The activation fee you send in is put through almost within 5 days and I was able to use my card immediately, why is it that I make my payments in the form of a money order, and I am dealt with this crap?
So Carmen, a credit manager finally comes on the line and tries to assist me, but the issue she tells me is that a money order can be cancelled. The money order is no longer in my hands and it's in their bank, what in the world! How does that even make sense. Anyway, If anyone is sent an offer from First Premier, please please please think about it first, before accepting it. I can't say I'm shocked by the one star ratings from people with trashed credit who, guess what, also can't seem to manage this card. The fees are terrible, the interest rate is obscene but it's a credit card. One step below this is a secured card. If you're not in a position in your life to pay off the entire balance monthly, you should not be applying for any credit cards when your credit is already trashed. You're digging a deeper hole and if you use a high percentage of the card's available credit, your score will not go up. In fact, it'll go down. Use this for a year, pay off the balance on time and you'll see credit card offers pour in with no annual fees, no upfront deposits and a better interest rate. WOW I am very shocked at all the HARSH reviews on Premier bank. I have been a card holder for about 5 months now and I've had absolutely no problems with them. I don't go over my credit limit and I pay on time. I try to make sure I'm paying my balance completely off every month. It makes it easier for me that way, I won't have to worry about late fees and constantly being in debt with them. My advice is to not use what you feel like you cannot pay back. If you think it's going to be a struggle to pay them a certain amount back, then simply don't use it. I have gotten rentals off this credit card but never worried because I knew that I can afford to pay them back in FULL. If you don't have that confidence, then maybe you don't need a credit card at all.
Another thing, don't go over your credit limit. When you go over your limit those are more fees you're going to have to pay. You simply use what you can afford to pay back. I don't understand all these complaints. It's so simple. This credit card is mainly for people with bad credit. Yes, there is annual fee of 125 but you can't expect this perfect card with no additional fees when your credit score is low. You should be happy that this bank even gave you a chance. If you have good credit, then you shouldn't of even got this card. Go get a better one. Go to a major bank. Why are you even with this bank in the first place? This card is to help build credit and once your credit score has improved, simply cancel and move on to a better credit card.

I told them thank you, but I now carried a near perfect credit score, and had 2 other high limit/low interest cards, so I simply was not concerned. They closed the account. Well, my gripe is that once I paid all of these fees and had a zero balance, yep that's right, a ZERO balance with $500 credit, these fools closed my account!!! I spoke with a representative who stated that I could hold on to my card for emergency reasons and use it as needed. When I called to ask why the card was closed, I was told it was closed because of "nonuse". Really??? I opened the card in April 2016, paid all fees by June 2016 and they closed my card in August 2016. When I asked them to reinstate my card, they told me that they would.
I spoke with three different people and they all said the same thing. The reason for speaking to three different people is because after speaking with the first two, the card statement over the phone was not correlating with what they were saying, so I kept calling and asking why. These people tell you what you want to hear and then turn around and do their own thing. I am upset because I NEVER got a chance to use the card, but they charged me high fees. Once I paid ALL the fees, they closed my card!!! This is credit card scamming at its finest!!! The WORST customer service I have EVER experienced!!! Beware people, this company does not care about people, they care about TAKING your hard earned money!!!

As with many people, my credit needed to improve, so I applied for the First Premier Credit Card. I was approved for $500 credit limit once a processing fee of 95.00 was paid. In addition, there was the annual fee of $125 that was billed on my first billing statement. So, just to get the $500 credit from them, I had to pay a total of $220 for fees (not including their monthly finance charge on the outstanding balance).
For the first bill, I made a payment of $100 to lower the balance I had as much as possible, which brought down my balanced owed to about $25. The payment was made over the phone with a representative, who then suggested I enroll my payment card information into their system so that future payments can be made much faster, or use their online payment system. So, I did just that. When I entered the payment card account number, as indicated on the website, I used the same account numbers that are printed on my card (the same account number I used when I made the payment to the live representative). The next billing cycle I made another payment of $50, and two weeks later another payment of $50 to bring my balance to about zero because I had used some of the credit for some purchases I made that month.
A few weeks later (before receiving my next bill) I went online to see what my balance was, only to noticed that they had charged me a return fee of $25 on one of the $50 payment I had made using their online payment service. I immediately called them to inquire as to why my payment was returned when I clearly had more than enough to cover the payment at least 10X. The representative said that he did not know why, but that perhaps there was an error in the information I entered when I registered my card. He said that he would credit me back the fee, but that that in his system it showed that my other payment of $50 was also returned, and that I was going to be charge a fee of $25, and that nothing could be done about it because it needed to complete the process, and that the fee needs to show on my account first.
He then suggested I go back and remove my card information I had registered and re-enter the information again. So I did. I also made a payment to him for $100 since I already had him on the phone and he took the payment just fine. He also suggested that if possible I make future payments with a live representative in order to ensure no problems with my payments going through. I agreed with him and asked about the other return fee for $25 that had not been posted to my account. He suggested I wait a few day and once that fee was posted to my account, call them and explain the situation. I asked him if he could make a note somewhere on my account of the situation so that the next person I speak to can have an idea of the matter at hand. He assured me that he would log in a note about the matter for the next rep to read.
Four days later I receive a letter from the credit card company that stated my account was closed because of too may return payments. After addressing the matter with the representative that other day, this is what I get from them. After paying the $220 process and annual fees, they go and close my account for some error that could not be determine who was at fault. This is a rip off credit card company and I am glad I owe them nothing. They got me for the $220, but someday this company will pay everyone back and more for their unethical practices. BE CAREFUL. DON'T LET THEM FOOL YOU TOO.

I paid them perfectly and I got a notice that the second year I had to pay a 198.00 yearly charge and the monthly service fee went from $8.00 per month to $12.00 per month. I cancelled my card as I was not going or willing to pay double the second year when I proved my credit worthiness in the first year never late and always paid more than my monthly minimum. They are still charging me the fees and I ripped up the card. I am willing to pay my balance of 640.00 to them but have been sending 50.00 per month and only 20.00 per month comes off the principal.
I called them to see if I can work something out to pay the principle down since they do not have to service my account any longer and they will not work with me. I refuse to pay their outrageous fees and now the card that was to help my credit is hurting it. I asked for a credit line increase and they told me it will take 7-10 days for a decision and if I did get a credit line increase, they would charge 25% of the credit line increase. Today I logged onto my First Premier account and see that my credit limit is $700 but that I owe $1375! A payment of almost $700 had been returned which I did not make from a bankcard. The last 4 digits were not mine and a bunch of charges where made right after this payment. My wallet got stolen on 8-12 and I reported the card as stolen. This fake payment was made right after that.
First of all I usually have to wait 7 days for my payment to clear and they automatically pay off my card with a fraudulent payment and First Premier allows this credit to be used right away? Then I called today to explain I never made that payment or these fraudulent charges and all the customer service rep keeps repeating all the charges like they are reading a script. If they do not clear this up I don't care if this card goes to collections. I will not pay for charges I did not charge nor will I reimburse them for a payment that was fraudulent made (and then returned to them). The representative was very kind, professional and honest. He explained to me the $95 application fee, $125 automatic charge and after 1 year I would be paying $10+ a month and a $125 annual fee. So, I pay $95+125=220 before I use the card which is the actual initiation fee. After 1 year I will then pay $125 annual fee + $10+monthly fee and interest fees. Then I get an available credit of $280 but must pay back $500+ back to First Premier Bank plus annual fee, monthly interest and monthly fees. If I am late or go over my limit I will be charged $27-37 in fees.

I paid the last one because it said I was overdraw by x amount and had to pay like 150.00 because of it. Now this month it says I'm over drawn almost 13 dollars? I didn't use the damn thing and haven't in a while. And then I get something in the mail saying they were going to confiscate our cards because the bank the money is transferring from to pay for the damn credit card isn't in the issuer's name. Hello. I lost my job due to company-wide layoffs on 2/28/2015. Yet for almost a year thereafter, I was able to make timely payments on my 1st Premier Bankcard through unemployment insurance and eventually finding seasonal work that ended on 12/31/2015. Although I tried to make minimum payments on my card, after a couple of months, I became more financially strapped and decided to activate my credit protection option purchased through 1st Premier Bank on 3/4/2016. I spoke to a representative, they took my relative info and activated credit protection by giving me a BENEFIT NUMBER to verify and validate. Realizing that I was approaching the end of the standard 6 month protection period, I went online to review my account and was shocked to find out that none of the credit protection benefits had been paid and that my balance had ballooned to more than twice the amount of my original credit limit.
Not only that, when I called the automated customer service option and entered my card number, it replied that my card number was invalid and after checking my account online, I realized that my card account had been closed. I received no e-mail or regular mail to alert me of this happening before or after. I then called 1st Premier's Customer Service on Sunday, July 31st at 11:25 am CST and it was closed during their stated open business hours between 10 am - 9 pm CST. I recorded the message stating that they should be open for business during those times for additional evidence of bad business practices. This error on 1st Premier's part has undoubtedly damaged my credit rating at a time when I've been unemployed while desperately trying to hang on to the reasonable credit rating I once had.
It has caused me additional stress and anguish to know that the fees I paid and the payment protection benefit plan I've been paying every month since opening my account and was supposed to be in effect not only wasn't but has damaged my credit in a way that will take months to resolve and abate... If I'm ever able to resolve it at all. There's now a bad mark on my credit rating that I didn't deserve and that it seems I "paid for" and I'm ready and willing to file a lawsuit against 1st Premier Bank for their malfeasance that worsened my credit rating that will also include the unnecessary stress and mental anguish that they've caused me.
I will call them tomorrow Monday, August 1 to see if I can get at least the unjust balance they've assessed abated and find out how could they have made such an egregious error. But even if my account is settled, there's still a matter of my credit rating being sabotaged that will make taking legal action against this "bank" mandatory.
UPDATED ON 08/01/2016: Continuing from my previous review, I called 1st Premier the following morning and tried to find out how such an egregious mistake could've been made. After speaking with an arrogant customer service rep who would cut me off at every opportunity, I requested to speak to a manager TWICE before the CS agent respected my request. Once I spoke with the manager, he confirmed that they had placed a "Cease and Desist" order on my account and closed it and said it was because I told them they didn't have to keep calling me after applying and being approved for payment protection. Furthermore, the manager also said that Cease and Desist orders are done without the customer's knowledge as the reason why I wasn't notified. Do even have to go into how nefarious a business practice this is?!
Anyway, the manager continued to debate with me over the circumstances regarding my account, never apologizing and never holding 1st Premier accountable for anything throughout the entire conversation. Realizing that the conversation was going nowhere, I hung up and proceeded to initiate legal action against 1st Premier. Halfway through that process, I thought about it and decided to call back to talk to the same manager and be more affable to see if we come to a satisfactory and equitable agreement. The manager was definitely more affable as well this time around... but still expressed that there was relatively nothing they could do about my card being closed and charged off but did suggest that they may be able to "work something out" once the payment protection plan I "thought" was in effect was reinstated and payments were retroactively applied to my account.
FYI, the payment protection plan is separate from 1st Premier and has no access to account information... which not only makes little sense, it also makes resolutions more difficult to have to coordinate between two separate entities that don't communicate with each other except via electronic transmissions of payments or policy updates. The 1st Premier's manager's suggestion was for "me" to pay off the balance that I verified had ballooned to approximately 40% above my credit limit because of the late fees and interest assessed over time. Needless to say that if my payment protection had been honored, my interest would've been lower, my balance would've been a lot lower and there wouldn't have been any assessed late fees... the undeserved bad mark on my credit report withstanding.
I'm still VERY upset and disappointed in the way they've treated me but I told the manager I'd wait to see how payment protection will handle this and what payments they'll make on my account before I continue pursuing legal action against them. If they pay retroactively what they should've all along and my balance reflects what it SHOULD BE at this point had everything gone as planned, there's still a matter of my account being closed, a cease and desist order that I never asked for or was made aware of and the negative mark on my credit report. Also, I had planned to re-activate my account for regular use soon, making normal monthly payments, but now am forced to pay off the card balance regardless of what the final balance turns out to be because the manager said he couldn't nor wouldn't re-open my account.
So there are still aspects of this case that can not be resolved and require legal action. I'll wait another week or so to see what the final disposition will be and decide how and what type of legal action I'll pursue AFTER reporting 1st Premier to my state's AG office. Bottom line is that I want my credit protection payments reinstated and retroactively paid, the late fees and the accrued interest abated accordingly and my credit report cleared of any dereliction of nonpayment to 1st Premier. And I'll do whatever I have to do make those happen. To be continued with the final part 3.

Let's face it, those of us with these credit cards only have them because we are in bad credit positions. Otherwise, this company would not be in business, and we wouldn't bother with this card. Fees - Otherwise known as, "please sir, may I have another". Where to start with this card. $95 as a 'processing fee' - Just to open the account. $75 charge already applied to the first statement. That brings it up to $170. The first year you have this credit card, there are no monthly fees. However, that changes in the second year when your annual fee drops to $45 and then you're charged a 6.95 monthly fee, just for the privilege of having this card.
Payments - Otherwise known as "We'll take your money, and MAYBE apply it to your account". Don't get me wrong, they'll apply it. It's just a matter of WHEN they feel like it. I've already made two actual payments to my account. Both were small payments $80 and $25. Both of these small payments were posted to my account the next day. However, when I went to make a $265 payment, the money was withdrawn from my bank. Five days later, nothing has been posted to my account.
I called customer service and was told my payment was being held to make sure it cleared. They must think we are simple people that know nothing about banking. They have my money. They had it by midnight of the day they took it. I wonder where my money went. I'll leave that here. Customer Service assured me that the money would be available by week's end. We'll see. Somehow, I don't think it'll happen. If you want to make sure your payment is posted to your account on the same day, call them and do so with your debit card. According to them, it doesn't have an associated fee. Long story short. This is card for people with bad credit. If you have other options for a credit card, use them. Stay away from this company. If you do not, then make sure you UNDERSTAND what you're getting yourself into. I'll keep my card, but will not do so for longer than a year.

Tanked my scores a couple years ago. Got a card with either a $300 or $500 limit (can't remember). Anyways I took it sideways, got the card. Pay on time, don't go over limit, etc., and your score will skyrocket, at least mine did. Now I have a couple of respectable, low fee, cash back cards.
So, in a nutshell... Read the fine print, pay the astronomical fees, etc. and within a year or so get a quality card. It's the price you have to pay to rebuild your credit. Get a better card, then cancel these guys. On their statement they will give you one months advance notice that your yearly fee is coming up. Pay it off and close it right then!
Again, read all the fine print about annual fees, authorized users, etc., so you don't go over your limit. You have to keep a close eye on these fools. So, I gave it 4 stars, just because it helped me get a huge raise in FICO score. Good luck to all of you. And don't expect anything "fair" from these guys, they're just a tool to help you get back on track.

I have had a Premier card for some time. Yes they have a lot of fees, they are upfront about them (if you read thru ALL the terms). My issue with them is from being over the credit limit on my card. They allowed me to make a charge that put my account over the limit. My next payment was not due for three weeks. They started using an auto dialer system to call my cell phone, which always said Restricted or Unavailable on caller ID. I got calls from them day after day as many as four times a day, computer calls always. I answered one call to see who it was and what they wanted. Their agent insisted that the over limit amount had to paid now even though my next payment was three weeks away.
IF you are willing to pay all the fees and this is a very expensive card to have, whatever you do dont be late on a payment or go over the credit limit. They will hound you relentlessly until you pay them what they want including late and over the limit fees. This is one card you want to stay away from. IT is not worth paying all the fees just to have it. There should be and have been class action lawsuits against them. Also they make it difficult to close your account and will try to talk you into keeping it open. My advice DO NOT get one of their cards, you will regret it sooner or later.

The woman was extremely pushy trying to convince me to keep it reading a script ignoring everything I tried to say until she finished. I yelled "cancel the account, omg!" Still trying to convince me I again demanded it to be cancelled. Ten hours later I log on to make sure it's cancelled and there's an additional $108.00 to be paid. The cards were never used. I cancelled it and they still keep going. Unbelievable. Do not get this card as there is a huge 37% APR. Not at all worth using.

I have been with First Premier Bankcard for almost a year. I have always paid on time, with my last payment I paid on the due date thinking everything was ok. I went into my account and found they had assessed late fees. I called very upset stating that I was not late. I was told since the payment would not post til the next day it made my payment late, so with the late fees it put me over my credit limit so now they have assessed late fees and over limit fees so a $50 payment has now turned into a $96 payment, so now this lousy company expects me to come up with an additional $46 for a payment that was not late. So if I don't pay they will continue to apply charges and plus ruin my credit.
I agree, we need to get a class action lawsuit, this is against the law, maybe not in their state. I want to pay them off - never to use them again. Please if you don't want to be swindled out of your money please don't get this card, I am sorry I did. THEY SCREWED ME THIS TIME BUT IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN. They are a bunch of crooks!!!

I paid $300.59 to used the card and the next day they closed the account saying I had a over the limit account.
I said "Okay but my account was cleared of all outstanding balances so was close the account and what is the amount over the limit?" They said "$170.00 we owe you back." Okay I said "How would I receive it?" "In a check" they said in 3 weeks. This company gives you $225.00 after having to pay $90 to them to activate card and then closes it out after you pay them money to keep it open. They also uses two different sites to receive payments and then shut down the accounts so you can't see what's going on with your account. Highly am not happen with them.

I have requested complete validation of the account, debt owed and my responsibility to pay said debt. I have even made an attempt to settle this account in an effort to remove it from my credit report immediately as I am applying for a mortgage and the incorrect information you are reporting is causing serious issues. This situation as you can imagine is causing me great stress and anxiety.
Information they are reporting is incorrect to the best of my knowledge and I do not believe I owe this debt. In my previous letters I have asked for an investigation into this matter and a full copy of all accounting documentation of this reported account be furnished to me. I have also made them aware that I was in full dispute over this account. To date, I have not received anything that supports that I owe the debt yet they continue to report incorrect negative information to the credit bureaus about me.
First Premier Bank has failed or refused to send the legally required validation documentation of this account, my obligation to pay and the debt. They have been notified that your actions are detrimental to me and that their firm has violated including but not limited to; the Consumer Credit Protection Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. First Premier Bank failed or refused to use reasonable care in the course of business and failed or refused to use even minimal procedures to ensure that I was not harmed.
First Premier Bank communicated and is continuing to communicate incorrect and defamatory information to third parties: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. As a result of these blatantly reckless, wanton, and intentional acts, I have suffered and continue to suffer general and specific damages. I am also very upset at their intentional infliction of emotional distress and at the other diminishments of the quality of my life. I am now demanding the immediate and complete removal of this trade line and all related information from my credit reports of the third-party reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. The gentleman told me I owed more money because of the annual fee and they would just put the amount in the May statement which was no problem. I received five more calls regarding the same issue. In the meantime, I had paid it Now, I get another "unknown" caller and I answered. It was First Premier.
I asked if they put previous conversations in their computers? No response to that question and then, she said my other card fell under the same category as the other card. As we spoke, I looked at the statement which listed an adjusted amount due from the previous day when I had looked at it. The due date remained the same, 23 May. I said I would pay it on the due date. I was then told they would work with me until 16 May, then it would go on my credit report. First Primer Bank offer credit cards for people trying to repair their credit but the fact of the matter is the bank makes your credit worst and gets you stuck in a worst position than you was in. They start you out with a $300 credit line then they take a $89 annual fee from telling you if you pay on time. Over time your credit will be increase and will be reported to the credit Bureau. Interest rates are very high. I paid excellent on my $300 line of credit for a year and when I called to make my payment they offer me a credit increase for my good record of $400. Told me they would send me a new card. Here I was thinking I was getting a new card and the old card would no more good.
Once I got the card and used it, I discover that the old card was still good, still be charged interest, and still be charged the annual fee on this card. Now, not only was I paying Interest and all these fees on my old card, I am now paying them on a new card so I pay double interest double annual fees and double late fees if payment is not paid on time. If you pay one card on time but not the other they lock it. So anyone looking at your credit report is seeing you have two low-end credit cards with high interest, no credit increase. On either which in turn knocks your score down. So this card is a dead end card going nowhere ever and one you can never get out from. Under they never give a increase what they do is open a new account for you. This is misleading and very confusing and someone should start a class action lawsuit on this bank. They are ripping off the poor and taking advantage of people with poor credit just looking for a fresh start.

WHAT WOKE ME UP TO MY DISASTROUS MISTAKES WITH FIRST PREMIER!!! I wasn't really using the card that much and I limited the card to using it only for online purchases and website memberships with minor recurring fees like Netflix, PS4 purchases, iTunes, etc. I assumed the charges I received were related to my purchases. Basically the two card quickly flew under my radar. I made timely monthly payments always.
As time went on I noticed that my other cards were giving me limit increases and First Premier hadn't given me a credit increase since I opened one of the Cards in 2014. I called them to request a credit limit increase 4 months back and I was rejected. I figured it was due to my credit score and the rejection letter did not state that it was due to the terms and conditions of the account not being met to warrant a credit increase nor did they offer the alternative so there was no mention of money being required for an increase in credit. However I was sent another card instead for 700.00 and I was thinking maybe they made a mistake and this is their way of increasing my limit.
I'm embarrassed to admit how flawed my thinking was but the question should have been "why would they approve me for another card when they just denied me for a credit limit increase?" Plus I took 2 more inquiry dings on my credit score ranging from 2 to 5 points. That should have been a red flag. Answer: First Premier designed their credit card program to take advantage to the ignorant and desperate suckers of the world.
So I called First Premier today and requested the terms and conditions for both of my cards. I also requested if there were any additional fees that I should be aware of. Card (A) account opened in Dec 2014 (400.00 credit limit) service fee of 8.25/Month with a Annual Fee of 45.00. I've had this card for 16 months, and I probably paid the annual fees upfront and whatever it cost to open the account. My APR was 25%. Card (B) account opened in Feb 2016 (700.00 credit limit) service fee of 8.25/month for the first year 12 dollars/month afterwards. Annual Fee 79.00 per year. My APR was 25%.
Today I asked for a Credit Increase just to see what they would say and this is what the Representative told me: I will be charged 25% of the Credit that I'm approved for and btw they were eager to tell me that I was eligible for a credit increase of 150.dollars for a mere 37 dollar Fee. 37/150 would give me 24.67%. Oooh what a saving they were giving me! So I said "Hypothetically if I wanted a credit increase of 3000.00 I would be charged 25%, a total of 750." The Representative said Yes. First Premier has the nerve to charge for credit increases. WOW!!! I should have draw the line sooner but this is definitely the last straw.
I am ashamed to even admit I have these Card exist in my credit portfolio and I will rectify this as soon as possible. Ladies and gentlemen this is how these vultures can and will take advantage of you. It pays to work on your credit and build it but not at any cost. You have to be aware of fees/charges and what they are comprised of.
I have been working on my credit for 2 years and though it's not high I'm proud to say that my credit score is in the 700s. I have 3 other Major Credit Card. My BOA is 6k, CAP One 3.5k and my Barclay is 1k, 2 of which increased my limits without me asking. Losing the two First Premier Credit cards is not going to hurt my available credit to debt ratio and keeping them will make me even more of an idiot than I've been for the last year or so. It is time to BURN MY FIRST PREMIER CREDIT CARDS!! Do not get these cards! These ** are bottom feeders and they will not improve your credit score. The cost is too high!
Case in Point: I gave Bank of America 800.00 to open up a (Secured) credit card. 3 months later I added 700.00 increasing its limit to 1,500. One year from opening the account they gave me back my 1,500, doubled the (Unsecured) Credit account limit to 3000. A year later I requested an increase doubling the amount and now try Bank of America Credit Card is my largest one of 6K. So, I guess I'm not completely stupid. There are Credit cards out there that are designed to help you rebuild your credit, but not First Premier.

Had the card for 3 months, paid it EXCELLENTLY. I make good money, got a great job after I declared bankruptcy, ironically enough. Anyways here's the story; So for three months I charge up my card, limit 700, then pay at least half sometimes less. 3 MONTHS, then suddenly one day my card declines, no call, no email, no notification. I check my account online, balance is normal, should be available credit but everything is zeroed out. So I call these idiots to find out what the issue was. GET THIS, they tell me that they froze my card because I pay it too well. Keep in mind here I pay it twice a month once a paycheck. Crazy right? Then they go so far as to politically correctly pretty much accuse me of stealing someones account and using it to pay.
Cause you know it always takes your average person almost three months to find out that they are missing a hell of a lot of their money and they say they require me to fax over my bank statements pictures of my debit card, and bank letter verifying my accounts are mine. ** ridiculous. So I calmly explain to them that it is not their job, (worked at a bank) and the customers and banks, and that if this were the case why THE HELL DID THEY WAIT 3 MONTHS? The idiot just sputtered and said it's to protect me. So let me get this straight, you make no effort to notify me of this fraud alert, freeze my account, REFUSE to accept payment from my account, ask me for ridiculous amounts of paperwork and it's for my protection? Yeah ok. After a half hour of getting nowhere I'm told they tried to contact my bank and they refused to give any information out. Gee you think?
So I offer to 3 way call allowing them to call the bank. They agree but then refuse to stop at that and demand the paperwork. My bank strongly cautions me against it claiming THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEFORE. I fax these idiots several times, yet several days later, conveniently they never got the fax, so I faxed again, yet to hear back. If I didn't need to rebuild my credit I'd tell these pieces of crap to stick it up their ** and good luck putting me in collections when you refuse to accept my payment. UNLESS YOU HAVE TO, avoid these pieces of **, not worth a second of your time. And if you have to get them then user beware. You better tread lightly and not pay too much. LOL. I really want to cancel them but because my balance of $450 is still open, it may affect my credit score negatively if I close with an open balance.
Every month I pay more than the minimum payment. But because they charge such high interest charges, very little gets applied to the balance. For instance, last month my balance was $515 I paid $50 towards it. They charged me $15.00 in interest charges. I went online just know to make a $75.00 payment. My balance is about $500 (I haven't used the card in two months). The due date is March 26th. When I tried to pay online, a message comes up that the payment will not get applied until after the 26th.
I called them up and they said that because I did not pay by 5:00 pm CT, I will incur a $35.00 late fee, plus the interest charges again of $15.00. I am a full time student and only I know how I came up with their full payment on the promise that the card would be reactivated, I feel like they have looted me repeatedly and as usual no one answers calls on sundays. If you're one of the millions for whom money is important avoid these guys like the plague. I have never seen thieves like them in my life and I've dealt with cards like verve. It's heartbreaking. $500 is a lot of money for me and they have cheated me.

I paid $89 for a $300 credit limit... Of course I spent it all right away. I have had no issues with this card, nor have I been charged any ridiculous fees. My monthly minimum payment is $43, and I usually pay $100. The few times I have had to call in, the staff has been polite and thorough with me, and kind to explain things in stupid people terms. I have ** for credit, and even with the high interest, this card is quite affordable for me to upkeep. I have 4 months till I have been with this company a year. Honestly the only complaint I have is no weekend hours, and no one late at night when things happen. Granted, the next business day they are quick to solve any issue I may have. I am sorry that other customers have had such a problem. I am sure every circumstance is different. As for me, no problems.

I have paid off my balance & closed account. They debits my account due auto pay & could not address why their system could not stop the auto payment when the account was paid off and closed. It incurred overdraft fees on my checking account.

I have had a couple of things happen. If you pay more than you should in a month, the next month will show $0 as amount due. However if you make no payment, then Premier applies a late fee. Although you make your payment on the due date, they will charge a late fee of at least $25.00 if it's not paid before 3pm EST... Technically it's not late since the day is not over and it's still mid day on the Westcoast. This is definitely not proper business and it impacts every card holder. I hope an attorney can take a look at this and I would be more than willing to assist with a Class Action lawsuit. This is not fair practice.

Since I've received my First Premier Credit Card, I've always made it a point to pay my balance in full at the end of each month. But, when I've tried using the card, I've even checked my online balance, which naturally reads zero and whatever small charge I try to put through gets declined. When I talk to a First Premier CSR, I get the bs story of "It takes five days to clear." So why not leave a balance on the online statement until it does clear. Obviously they're trying to covertly keep a five-day float of interest earned from their customers' balances to satisfy their shareholders. Twits! Think I'll send my card back in 16 pieces back to them. They are not a good credit vendor to use at all.
