I applied for a First Premier Bank credit card, and after reading the horror stories, decided to cancel the card. I received a bill for 106 dollars for the annual fee and card for my husband. Got called to have a new card sent and second card cancelled. I'm scared now. The "Rep" I spoke with was very friendly and accommodating. She stated that I didn't have to pay the 29 dollars for the second card since I never used it and was receiving a new card.
As of yet, I have not gotten the reordered card but decided to contact Julie **, whoever she is, that responded to complaints from other people. I sent her an email requesting my 95 dollars back and the card be cancelled since I only applied for it to build credit after I file my bankruptcy in a few days. I wasn't going to use it for anything but to pay one of my usual bills for the month and pay it off every month. I explained that if they failed to assist me, all I would do is put them on my bankruptcy and explain to the federal court why I had to file on them so close filing.
I never had any real credit problems except medical bills and a judgment through no fault of my own. You can't make me pay for service I never used and I will probably place them on there just to be safe. Thanks to everyone who came forward with their issues with these losers and next time they harass you, inform them of the debt collection laws.

Unfortunately, like many of its users, I thought I needed the credit card to try to build credit history. Boy was that a mistake. Now I am stuck paying their stupid $7 monthly fee and $45 annual fee until I buy a house next year, because I don't want to ding my credit by closing the account (although the responsible thing to do would be to end the relationship with them). But once I do purchase my home, they are gone and out of my life forever and I will never stop advising people against them.
This past month I failed to pay the bill because I had built up a credit on my account of more than $30 beginning last February, of which they happily held onto (my Capital One credit card issues me refund checks when I overpay). I currently have a past due balance of $2.00. Yes, that's right. TWO WHOLE DOLLARS. I realized this when I got three phone messages on my answering machine today, urging me to call them on a very important matter (eyes rolling). Checked my account balance, and now I owe $27, which includes $25 penalty for my $2 late payment. I've kept a credit balance with them for months and they ding me on $2. It just seems so ridiculous. It's hard to believe they even employ business practices like that. Email reminder, ok. SMALL penalty (there should be some rule that allows for waiver of fee or smaller fee if you have a past due balance of $5 or less), okay. THREE PHONE CALLS? Not okay. $25 penalty despite perfect on-time payments for 4 years??? NOT OKAY.
My warning is this: DO NOT STOOP TO THE FIRST PREMIER LEVEL! Have some dignity for yourself and your future credit history by using a prepaid credit card, preferably through a major bank. That way you are in control of the account and not some B-rated bank company just looking for a quick way to make a buck, even if it is at the cost of customer service. Hell, even a JC Penney charge card is better. Target, etc. Anything but First Premier and every other bank that charges high fees and monthly "maintenance" fees, despite that they have the worst website and online account maintenance design I have ever seen for a credit card/bank company.
Good luck, and I will update with my experiences with closing my account, since I see that several other reviewers have been hassled while trying to close their account. FYI, I've attached a snapshot of their website home page, misspellings and all (look for "picuture" under card customization, which can be done, for a "nominal" fee, of course - gag). Also, I wanted to further elaborate on other posts about their credit increases - they only give them if you request them, and pay the $25 fee per increase, for a $25-75 increase. HA! This company just really takes the cake for worst bank ever.

I have been with Premier for now 4 years. It has done me no good. My credit limit is low and has not changed even though I pay monthly on time. I get charged 7$ every month and a yearly charge of 40$. I would not recommend this to anyone. When I call to cancel, they try everything to keep me with the company, but recently I finally said no. The people are rude when you call and the interest rates are high. Not to mention the amount of time it takes for them to post a payment. It does not take any time to come out of the bank, but it takes forever for them to realize a payment was already made on time. This is a nutshell and I could go on.

The customer service stinks with this company. The reps are always rude every time I call to ask a simple question. I have been with this company for almost 4 years. The interest rate is very high and the credit limit has never went up. I feel like I'm paying for a card every month that I rarely use because most of the damn payments go towards the interest rate & finance charge. Once I start making enough money, I am going to pay the account in full, close the account, & go with a better company.

I have made numerous payments to them and they never show it on my statement, or they say I didn't make the minimum payment when I have. They also changed the amount due and say there is a late fee every time, and I pay it early. So far, to date, they have not acknowledged the $600 that I have paid. I have called them numerous times and have not received any help on this matter. Meanwhile, they just keep adding more fees and interest. They call our house at all hours and on holidays every hour on the hour. It is, honestly, harassment. They also are very threatening to me when they do call. I honestly do not know what to do. I am a nineteen year old college student and I used this card for school.

This bank has became rich by giving consumers who want a major credit the worst interest rate and fees in the world. I’ve had this card for 10 years with the same $300 limit. Paying the monthly $7 plus finance and yearly membership. The best thing you did for me was close my account... I have officially paid it off. They are quick to report 31 days or late and over limit on your credit report, but slow to increase your credit. Don't be fooled, you will never be done once you get the card. I missed one EFT and closed both accounts. Thanks for nothing, First Premier. I believe this bank is subsidiary of Chase...

This company has ridiculously high fees. Even though the credit limit is 300 dollars at the start, you will not get that because they take more fees off the top of it. That's even after you pay the enrollment fee. Then, when you pay your bill, it takes them forever to credit your account, thus a penalty will be added. Even if your account is closed and you are not using the card, they keep adding the penalty so the bill just goes up and you never get it paid off. It is a total scam. It will not help you build credit.

On several occasions, I have made 2 payments in 1 month only to be told 3 months later that it has to be by a certain payment date. Now, I have sent in a check from a financial institution in which I took out a consolidation loan and was paying 1/2 the card balance only to be told it would take 20 days to post... Seriously!!! There is no way that a check takes 20 days to post especially when it's a bank that wrote the check... Horrible customer service and late fees and overlimit fees because of the late fees because you made a double payment before the statement was sent... This really should not be allowed. This is why people cannot get out of debt. Capital One is a much better company.

For convenience, I chose to enroll my monthly payments online, using the bank instruction and e-mail, www.mypremiercreditcard.com. I was told of only one payment of enrollment fee, the amount of $4.95. What the bank "forgot" to disclose is the company servicing the bank payments of customers is a third party servicing company who is charging a fee of $4.99 for each payment. I tried to clear this inconvenience but it's impossible. The credit card company, First Premier Bank, is sending me to the bank and the bank is sending me back to the cardholder company, both of them claiming they did not charge this fee. I can't find out who is charging me and with whose approval. I think some of them commit a FRAUD. Please help me to end this inconvenience and find the truth.

My mother is authorized on my account, so normally, she will make payments as soon as I give her the cash money and pay with her bank account. Well, this has happened 3 times and we are tired of it. They received the same bank information for the past 3 years, and have been receiving payments from the same account, and now it's an issue. When all documents are submitted to them and verified, they act as if the money is coming from their account.
I stayed with the company because I rent cars monthly for business, and I went to the rental company to pick up the car, only to be told the card is not authorized. This pissed me off because I missed a very important meeting and needed to reschedule. When I called First Premier, I was told that too many payments were made on the account and it's funny. Well, for the past three years, you received payments from the same account and now it's a problem. When I contacted customer service, a few reps just didn't know what they were doing. I submitted all documents only to be told we will need a few business days to review, but you didn't call to let the consumer know what you were doing....

This company is a scam. They will not allow you to cancel your account with them no matter how many times you ask. Then they send you a bill with a monthly fee of $14.50. Even when you pay that on time to prevent hurting your credit, they also add a hidden fee of $30 to your account that doesn't reflect on your bill; and they send it to collections to wreck your credit! Please don't trust this company. They will try to ruin your credit over a few dollars and allow you to do nothing about it to help yourself.

I opened this account more as an emergency backup. My sister was moving and I wanted her to have a CC in her name (she has bad credit) so I got this offer in the mail for $700 initial line of credit. My credit is fair but I did not want to add her as another cardholder on my regular CC. I knew the initial fee was $175 plus another $29 for her card. I got the card, signed up online to pay my bill, and these crooks charge you a $4.95 fee to sign up for their online monitoring of your own account with them! I paid it for the convenience and paid the bill in full. That was over a week ago and nothing has been credited to my account although they took the money from my bank account that same day.
Every time you log in, it is a pain and they treat you like some fool. Example: your log in name. They give you a hint. This is my firstpremiercreditcard (their dot com website) user name. Really? Password. Hint: this is your firstpremiercreditcard password. Really? They then ask you for your security code on the back of your card. Hint:... Of course, you do not know that so you have to dig out the card to finally log in. As soon as my sister's move is over, I am paying this card off and closing the account. I do not care if I get dinged on my credit score. I will not be giving these crooks any of my money. The only good thing I can say here is even though the interest is high, it is still lower than a payday loan. If you pay it off in full, after their initial usury fees, you can take advantage in an emergency. But let's face it, the majority of people who have to get this hard are victims of places like this.

Scam alert. Not a real credit card. Never ever ever get a credit card from this company. If you were denied, thank your lucky stars. You start with a 175 dollar balance on a 300 dollar card. It’s 36% interest. I made two payments - one for 95 dollars, the other for 65 dollars. It’s been 3 weeks and nothing has been credited to my account. They offer no email address for customer service, and when you call in, the person who answers just lies to you to get you off the phone. I have been lied to over and over by this complete scam of a company. This company should be shut down and the owners prosecuted for fraud and theft. This is not a real credit card. This is a scam!!!

When I applied for this credit card, I was getting calls every other day to pay a $95 deposit to get a $300 credit limit. Once I got the card, the credit limit was less than 300 then I make my first payment of $100 charging me an $11 fee to do so. Then without my knowledge, my account is suspended and I paid way before the due date. And instead of my account balance being $200, there was an additional $15 added to my account. When I signed up for online payment, they charged me $4.95 fee to do so, and I found out after I signed up for online payment when I was sent an e-mail. They did not disclose this information when I created an online account.
Naturally, no one works at the office on Sundays but I will call them and find out what is their problem and plan to file a complaint against them with BBB. I have another credit card with another institution and they have treated me way better than this bank. The gentleman that took my payment over the phone this past Friday was also unpleasant to deal with. He even asked me why I was paying so much on my credit card when the due amount was only $30. I asked him if it was beyond his capability to process a $100 payment. I look forward to getting the answer tomorrow why they have suspended my account. I still have the email they sent me for registering on their website.

I just got a call - the caller ID information on my phone said “The Warwick Hotel” with a Seattle (local) area code and phone number. I curiously answered the phone and it was an idiot rep from First Premier Bank (I had an account with them several years ago and have not used the account since 2007). I recently purchased a new car and saw on my credit report they reported the account is still open with a balance due of over $1,000. I asked the rep why the caller ID on my phone said Warwick Hotel in Seattle. He said "I don't know. Is this __ (my name)?" I asked who he was and after asking him to repeat his name and company three times because he was talking too fast for me to understand, I told him to hang up and try this call again.
I refuse to speak with these people on their fraudulent terms again. Back in 2005 when my account was active, their rep called regarding a late payment and the caller ID information said the call was originating from Boeing in Renton, WA. Isn't this kind of practice illegal? They are obviously hiding their identity in order to get you to answer the phone and/or call them back. I am writing them a letter today demanding to see a statement of some kind and what the current balance is for.

As has happened to a lot of people in the past few years, I lost my job and came on some hardships including several weeks in the hospital and moving to a different state to find work. All during this time, I have tried to maintain some credit. I have several small credit cards that I make payments on and almost always make them on time and, generally, the companies will work with me, except for First Premier. They seem to do everything in their power to screw you up an add more charges. My system has been when I get a statement for a credit card, I will go online and schedule a payment. First Premier has locked me out of my computer access to make payments because my bank returned one check for being 40 cents overdrawn. I have paid all their extra fees, at least $35. I have called and spoken to customer representatives to no avail; I am locked out. So now, for this one account, I have to acquire and send them checks. Do not use this bank. They are a bunch of swindlers. Stay away.

I had opened my mail yesterday and found out one of my cards with First Premier was charged off! Naturally, they send you mail on a weekend when business hours are not in effect, and now on top of waiting for Monday morning to roll around, I have to deal with the fact I will have to pay this off (and request the charge off be removed from my credit report). Hopefully, they will remove the charge off. I have a second card with this dummy organization, and when the balance is zero on this account, I will be canceling. First Premier Bank, let me be clear: consumers have a lot of power. Do not think you are above the law. When you push enough people around, we push back a lot harder. I am trying to buy a house this year, and these tools are not making it easier. I have been working hard to improve my credit score, and this is a significant setback. Just wait, First Premier. You'll be knocked out of business one day.

First Premier Bank Credit Card is the worst bank I have ever dealt with in my life. We filed bankruptcy in 2009 and it was suggested to us that we get a credit card so we can begin to reestablish our credit. We applied for a card and agreed to pay 23.9% interest (it didn't matter because we were going to pay off the balance each month). In January 2013, we received a statement and noticed a charge for $14.50 (fee). After close examination, I noticed that it was an annual fee. I looked at all the previous charges and we had been paying $14.50 a month (in addition to the 23.90% interest they charge) since 2009.
We did use the card and paid the balance in full every month on time in addition to paying $14.50 per month ($174.00 annually). There are many banks out there that may charge higher interest rates to reestablish your credit. However, charging $14.50 each month to just be able to use the credit card (or not) each month? I have never been so irate in my life and I can do anything to warn others not to associate themselves with this bank in any way, shape or form. It's outrageous!
Reviewed Jan. 6, 2013
I can't believe that nobody has noticed that First Premier does not give you all the credit they say you have. If you have $5 left as an available balance and you spend $0.50 for something, your available balance becomes $4. Apparently, they take the extra change in all transactions from you. This has to be against some kind of law.

My original due date was on the 16th of each month. On October 25, 2012, I called in to make a payment and explained to the rep I was late because I was no longer working and wanted to know if I could change my due date to the 26th of every month. She told me yes and also offered me a one time credit of the late fee I was charged. She then told me that if I made the payment over the phone with her, she would waive the payment fee. I told her, "No, thank you," and that I would just make the payment online. She assured me she could take the payment over the phone and would not charge me.
I agreed, and when she finished accepting my payment, she said she updated my account and my next payment would not be due until November 26, 2012. However, on November 19th, I logged into my account online and saw that my due date had not been changed and still read due on the 16th and not the 26th. I also noticed I had been charged a $35 late fee.
I immediately called First Premier Bank and spoke with an account supervisor by the name of Robin, and explained what happened. Shen then told me that I could call back on November 26, 2012 and make a $30 payment and she would give me a $35 credit, since the previous rep had given me incorrect info by telling me she updated the payment due date for November and she really didn't put it into effect until December 26, 2012. She also told me she would note that on my account.
I called back today, 11-26-2012, and spoke with another account supervisor by the name of Pamela who told me she could not do that and that they are not obligated to give credits and I should have made the payment with the last supervisor I spoke with to get the credit. She also told me it depends on who I speak with. She said what I could do was make a $40 payment and after that, I could call back and submit for a review to get a $25 credit. She also said there was no guarantee that I would get it. She was very nonchalant and rude.
I feel robbed because this credit card is for people with bad credit so I have put more money in than I have gotten out. I put almost $100 down to receive the card. I want what I was promised - my account brought back to good standing with a $35 credit and I know that I do have to make the $30 payment. Or, I want the account closed but left in good standing, reading paid as agreed on my credit.

I missed a payment by mistake and was going to pay online, and realize that the minimum payment was $106 instead of the usual $15-$25. I received a call from an unknown number, answered and it was an employee calling in regards to the missed payment. She stated that my payment was due and wanted me to pay the minimum of $106! I was surprised to see all the fees, the late fee, annual fee; I thought this annual fee was the first and only fee to be taken out when I first received the card which actually came out of the credit limit of $700. I hadn't even used the card, yet and was already owing around $49, plus interest fees, maintenance fees OF $15, late fees of $35, and over the limit fees.
I explained to the lady that I would be paying, but I was going to consolidate my balance to another account, and she reported me that same day to Experian. I was furious. I explained to her that I had been paying on time for almost a year, and then she turned my account over to the agency after 30 days! Now, my account has a minimum of $306, just about half of what the total credit limit is, and I feel this is unjust. I have been paying on time. She stated that I had received another statement in the mail, and I explained to her that I hadn't received a second statement. She also stated that they had left messages, and that was totally not true. I asked her why was she calling from an unknown number, and she wouldn't answer me. She just kept fussing and complaining that I knew when I signed up for the account what the fees were, and stated "I need to pay my minimum payment" and I stated that I was going to dispute it on my report.
Now I am having this one creditor reporting against me, and causing my credit score to go down, and this company is supposed to help rebuild credit. This is a scam and a disgrace. The money they are making off from others that are working to build their credit while this company is working to destroy it! I would like to know what I can do to have this removed from my credit report. Every one of my other accounts is positive, and if you are late one time, the credit score will decrease 65 points!
This is not right for an agency to collect additional fees, and be able to tag on more fees even after they have reported against you. My point is why should I pay them all this money in fees, when they have already started the process of ruining my credit? They are not my first priority given the fact that they didn't think twice before reporting, and I do believe that you are supposed to get three statements before reporting? Help to locate the right resources to get this matter resolved. This will remain on my credit for 7 years. This is outrageous!

First Premier Credit Card - I, like many others whose credit is "less than perfect" during these trying times, was duped into signing up for this card under the false impression that it was a step toward re-building my credit. Although I had my apprehensions, I decided that maybe I could in fact take a step in the right direction where my credit was concerned. After all, who else was going to approve me?
I knew that the credit limit was going to be very low ($300), but didn't care as my only intention was to further establish my credit. However, I didn't read all of the fine print (my fault) prior to receiving the card and soon found out that by the time they were finished applying all the needless charges i.e. annual fees, one-time fees, etc., I actually only had roughly $50 available for spending purposes. In the end, I ended up -$250 by the time I received the card.
Even after putting this aside, I soon found that the fees just kept coming. I received the card late 2009 and probably used it four or five times. It's now late 2012 and I'm still paying every month only to find that they keep sticking me with fees. To date, I've probably sent these greedy monsters over $1,000 and only spent the original $50 that I had available after the fees previously mentioned. I know that this is really only my own fault as I was very naive during the initial stages of this financial decision-making process, but just thought that maybe I could sway some of the younger individuals away from making a decision like this. Take it from me, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

After 2 years of perfect payment history, I noticed a $14.95 "maintenance fee" occurring monthly. When I called, I was informed that after 2 years the fee kicks in (along with the annual fee). Why? "To offset the risk," I was told. This may be the stupidest excuse I have ever heard for a ninja fee. The risk was when I received the card, not after 2 years of perfect payment history. Way to reward your customers, First Premier Bank! I have cancelled the card. Unfortunately, they have me for a $700.00 balance, so I will probably have to pay that scumbag fee at least 2 more times.

First Premier sold me a credit card for $175 with a $700 limit. The $175 was to go onto the card. Then, they immediately started sending me bills. They never sent me a credit card, only bills. It took 3 months of bills before I could get a live person on the phone, in which I told them I have no intentions of paying for something I never received. The representative said they would do a "do over" erase any bad credit reported, and send the card. He charged me $30 to apply toward the $175.
At this point, I should have a balance of $145 and a credit card should be coming in the mail. Instead of receiving the card, I received a letter stating I cannot get a card at this time because I am overdue. This is supposed to be a card to build credit. But in my experience, it is only to screw me over and ruin my credit. I just cannot justify paying them for the illusion of holding a credit card in my hand. It appears that they are only taking advantage of the poor and needy. I wish I knew how to cancel this card, and get my money back, and have any and all credit reports by them wiped clean. After all, they are charging me for services that were never rendered.

And they keep modifying it to keep it that way! These schmucks charge $15+/month for no reason, don't let you know when the card is due until it is overdue by one day, then hit you with a hefty late charge ($30-50). When I told them to cancel my account, the guy tried to tell me how this would hurt my credit rating. So add "liars" to the above adjectives. Stay away from First Premier Bank cards. I had a card with this company for almost three years to re-establish my credit and managed to only have a $300 credit limit the entire time. I was laid off in January of this year but still managed to pay my minimum balance each month. In June, I was unable to make my minimum payment and decided to utilize the account protection plan I have paid for over the last three years. After applying, I was denied because of the length of time on my job. This was not explained when I was being swindled into accepting upon my getting the card. It really shouldn't have mattered anyway because I have never missed a payment prior, nor been late. Upon my calling and trying to get a late fee removed, I was told no and asked when can you get this account cleared up. Did she not understand the buzz words "laid off" and "no extra money?"
So after getting nowhere, I began to lose my character and of course, there wasn't a supervisor available and a "by the way, this call is an attempt to collect a debt." Little did she know, I recorded the conversation as well, so just because you didn't accept what I could pay, to hell with you. You should've accepted what little I tried to offer because now, you get nothing. I called the CC and they treated me as if I made the purchase and was lying. However, they would not give me the complete information on this pending authorization of $550. Just the name and city/state only. They told me they have nothing else, no authorization tracking #, etc. I had requested to speak to a manager, they would not transfer me through.
So until I called on day 2, requesting to cancel my card and start a claim. They said they would not make a claim because this transaction is pending still. Day 3, I was finally pushed through to a manager on my request, who stated, she just now sent my issue to their investigations department. This transaction of $550 is still pending as of today 3/23/2012. Why is this any different from day 2 when I made that very same request to file a claim? 3 days later of me calling and harassing their office to get this process started. That is if she was telling me the truth and did forward this to start a claim. She never gave a reference number so I am now beginning to feel there is no real investigation being started.
I had to do my own investigating work, to rule out information with all the other companies I have noted. I called the hotel's corporate office and they have zero record of my name/CC information on file and this is through their main booking system for the day of 3/21/2012. I even called Travelocity, all the other companies did their best to look and see if the CC# was used within the time frame and the date I gave them.
So far, the only place that states I have this, is the transaction in First Premier Bank, not only that this ghost transactions isn't even coming up on my online account, which I found rather interesting. They were pushing for pay by phone to receive "immediate" credit. This was mid-February and I didn't need to use the card until March 9, so I decided to set up an auto-payment from my checking on 2/21/12 (FP written notice indicated this would take up to 6 business days to credit to my account, but I had much more than 6 business days so I saw no urgency). On March 5, I phoned to find out why my $75 credit had not posted. I even had Bank of America on the conference call offering to fax proof of payment to FP. The FP representative was very rude, would not accept the BOA representative's offer, only indicating it would take 3 business days to 'investigate'. In the mean time, I have paid a total of $70 more in order to use the card for the security deposit that I opened this account for.
I have requested in writing on the FP website an updated status on their 'investigation' since it has now been over a week of 'business days'. Now I am getting 'we cannot answer your inquiry, please call'. So far I have paid $145 to this account and am still missing the original $75 payment from 2/21/12. I have begged, threatened, sent multiple inquiries, and still, FP will not update me on my missing payment, the one that Bank of America offered to fax proof of payment that was rejected by FP. Currently, I am still working on getting this taken care of, despite the fact that the customer service dept needs to be retrained and have to stop telling people what they can't do for them and let them know what they can do to help them. Two days after this payment posts, they started calling me on my cellphone more than 10 times a day on a blocked number. They told me that I needed to make another payment, to which I said I just did and I am not late, so why are they calling me. Their reply was it was only to remind me that I was now over my limit (due to their hidden fee of $48.00 per year). I told them I will make my payment when it is due, and when I get my statement in the mail, I will go online and pay it as I have done all year. They told me that unless I paid them right now, they were going to report me to the credit agencies, and it will mess up my credit. It is so hard to get credit, that this will ruin my future attempts to get a credit card. I told them to close my account, and to stop calling me on blocked numbers. They again told me that I will be placed on their "high cycle" call list, and to expect more calls now, unless I pay right now, and again threatened me with a bad credit report.
I asked why they keep calling on a blocked number, and was told that their computer system sometimes does this by mistake. Every call I have gotten from them in the past two weeks has been blocked, and there have been a minimum of 10 calls per day.

I paid off my credit card account on 10/18/2011. I checked online to make sure that the account did show a zero balance. My account shows a $7.00 monthly service fee. I called and spoke with a woman by the name of Rhonda, who informed me that the charge has been charged due to the term and conditions every month. I asked her why is it charged to an account that is paid in full, her reply was because they do things that other credit card companies don't do; that they report ‘40 something’ times to the credit card bureau. I told her that I find this ridiculous to charge for an account that is paid in full and that they do not need to report it so many times and that I just may close my account.

I am making the payment on the exact due date on my statement and am told that I will be charged an ($11.00) fee which I think is ridiculous! I can understand if it was late, but my payment isn't late. Not only that I sit on the line for (15 min) being sent from your voice activated system, to a customer service rep. which doesn't speak English well. For the card I am making the payment on, I shred over 2 years ago. I am also told because I have shred my card that I am charged ($11.00) to make an online payment to the same account. I am very dissatisfied with First Premier Bank and have been the past few times in speaking with your customer reps.

I arranged to make a payment after the due date of the payment. This showed up on my credit report as a late payment. I was confused. Why would it be late if I had called and explained to them my story? I called them up and got no satisfaction. Even though I arranged to make the payment after the due date, it was still considered late. My credit score dropped 50 points. I am in the process of buying a home. Now my score is below 620 and the mortgage company won't move until it comes back up. Meanwhile, I've already moved my family out of my apartment.

So this may be a bit different from what is typically being said on this forum about this company but here is my story.
I opened my first credit card with Premier Bank in October of 2008 with the standard one-time fee and ensuing agreement of the monthly fee that would be charged to use the card, etc. I made minimum payments every month but they were on time. They used to charge a fee to make payments online on their website but I haven't been charged a fee in months and reviewing their recent information shows that they no longer charge for that option.
Fast forward a little bit to July of 2009. I was feeling a little zealous and decided I wasn't satisfied with my credit limit of $200 so I went online to the website and applied for a limit increase (they do charge at minimum $25 if you are approved for one). Well, I got approved so that was it. I walked away expecting it to show up on the next billing cycle.
Fast forward to August of 2009 and I got a voice mail from customer service on my phone telling me I was late on a payment. I flipped out. I have had horrible credit for years and I was finally in control of my credit and was trying to lead it to pristine waters. So as soon as I got home from work, I called customer service to find out what was going on.
The representative I spoke with informed me that a new card had been sent out (that I had zero knowledge of) with a $300 credit line on it and I was late for the first payment, which was the activation fee and that I would be assessed a late fee if I couldn't make the payment with her over the phone.
So instead of totally losing it, I started poking around for more information. I asked her if the system showed a limit increase request, she said yes. I asked her if I was assessed a fee for it, she said yes. I asked her if there was ever any record of my contacting them for a new card or anything showing they ever contacted me, advising or offering a new card, she said no. So slowly, I was building up to boiling point and I asked her how it was feasible for them as a company to give me a new credit card that I didn't ask for or know about and send it to my home address (100% activated and ready for use, someone could have pilfered my mailbox and used it) without my knowledge and then bill me without my knowledge and then try to get a late fee out of me, too?
Well, she understood my concerns and we both quickly saw that there had been an error made on behalf of First Premier Bank so she did remove the late fee (I had already been assessed) and waived the over-the-phone fee and processed my payment. So at this point, I have two credit cards with Premier Bank with credit totaling $500.
Fast forward to February 2010. I had a late payment that was my fault. I lost my job and didn't manage my money well enough to have made this payment on time (I made one of them but didn't have enough for the other). I was upset at the fee but it was reasonable.
Fast forward to October of 2010. I contacted Experian who contacted First Premier on my behalf to ask if they would be willing to remove the reported late payment status. They did!
Recently, I applied again for a line of credit increase on my (original) card and was approved for a $100 increase with a $25 one-time fee. I now have total credit with Premier Bank of $600, of which about 40% is currently in use mainly on one of the cards.
Overall, I have to say that as a company, I am impressed with the way Premier Bank has treated me as a customer. Even the brief period when I was jobless and used my credit protection aside from having to fax the information to them every month to have them apply the credit protection payment was seamless. And the fact that they were willing to retract my late payment reporting status on one of my cards just proved to me that they are at least, in my eyes, dedicated to helping me re-establish my credit.
I do have to admit I would have preferred them just keeping me with one card and increasing the limit instead of having two credit accounts with them but that isn't a real complaint. The main reason for this post is that I know there are tons of people out there with horrible experiences and while the small problems I have encountered with them over the course of my history with them pale in comparison to what everyone else here has experienced, I just wanted to make sure there was a balanced representation of both aspects here.
If you are struggling with credit but have a good financial situation, First Premier Bank can help you get re-established.
My definition of good is as follows. "If every month after you pay your bills and take care of everything that needs to be taken care of and you still have disposable income around (complete BS money that is solely dedicated to whatever you want to use it for) $100-200 without having to borrow from anyone, that you should be okay to get a starter credit card like this one."
If you are struggling or think that a credit card like this can help you with extra money, you are wrong. A lot of people forget that you have to pay for it and starter cards like this, with all the fees they charge, are not meant to be used like, say a Capital One credit card or a Discover Card (which I now have).
Anyway, good luck to those of you out there that are trying to resolve issues with Premier Bank!

These people are very good at scamming. I will admit that I charged probably $300.00 (I have a $700 limit.) Somehow my balance due was $700 -- convenient, huh? One month, they sent me a bill for $30, so I paid it. I didn't purchase anything else, and my next balance was like $740. I had asked that they send me a list of my transactions as I paid the $5 for the online banking but it wouldn't show my transactions (or I couldn't find it).
Anyway, I have made no more charges, but a lady called today demanding payment today! I told her that I could pay it next week as some circumstances had arisen. She got more and more hateful and even said she would mark it down as refusing to make a payment if I didn't give her my checking account number over the phone. I told her that I hope she was recording the phone call as I repeatedly told her why I couldn't pay today and that I would certainly pay next weekend. She kept insisting and threatening so I hung up. I will never use the card again. And I have turned this into a lesson.

When I opened my account for a credit card, I requested, due to income pay date, that my due date be changed to the first Friday of each month. For 3 years plus, this was an established practice, making note that I always paid the total amount due in full with all banking charges.
In September 2011, I elected to pay the minimum amount due of $25.00, then in October again, the minimum amount due of $36.00 via money order and deposited it into the U.S. mail at the same date on the money order. On the 3rd, I made, as always, the mail payment by the end of the week on the first week as the agreement made prior to this incident.
On the 6th of October, I received a call, demanding payment that was subject to late charges and the bank fee's bank acting agent states that they did not receive my payment. This is the reason for the call and collections via the phone call!
Per the automated systems at the bank, my payment was received on the 6th of October. The acting agent of the bank states, "Yes, your payment history is, as you say, for years in the first week of every month, after the 3rd." And regardless of the years of my payment history and paying my debts, I'm past due, subject to late fees that is now affecting my credit history and report.
This is a case of misstatement of facts and failure to verify records, damaging my credit report and history without justification of action taken by bank employees as acting agents of First Premier Bank. This also violates any and all verbal contract with the bank with the evidence of such within my years of doing business with the bank as an established custom and practice. I closed the account with merits that the bank in fact broke the contract and damaged my credit score and history without justification.

I opened a First Premier prepaid credit card to start fixing my credit. I had the card for four months and made payments on time every month without ever having a problem. I got my taxes back this year and decided just to pay off the $300 balance, so I called the 800 number to make the payment like I always do. They have all of my bank information on file. I went through the automated line, made the payment and got the confirmation number.
About a week later, the money was still not out of my bank account so I called to check, and the automated was saying that they had not received a payment. So, again, I tried making a payment and, again, the same thing happened. I did this for four times and each time the same thing happened. I have confirmation numbers for every transaction. I had plenty of money in my bank account to make the payments and it never once showed up in my bank. I tried contacting someone from First Premier bank and never got a hold of anyone.
It has been three months and now, I am getting hot with $29 late charges because the payments are not posting. I figured that someone would eventually call me asking for money. Finally, someone called me and I explained what was going on. The lady was very nice and she could see all of the records wherein payments were made but never taken out. She said that she had never seen that happen before and she would take the late payments off. By now, there were four late payments and I was over limit. She took a payment over the phone with the same information that they have on file and the payment went through just fine. But she only took off one late fee.
Today, I called to discuss getting the other late fees removed and the lady was very nasty telling me that the one $29 fee that they took off was only a courtesy. They didn't have to do that. It was my fault that the payments were not made and nothing was wrong with their system. I feel very strongly that this is fraud and a scam to get more money out of people. It's not as if they don't already make a killing by charging almost 30%.

Realizing this was not a good idea anymore, I decided to cut up the card and not use it anymore and just plan to get the charges paid off as soon as possible. I never received a statement in the mail and started getting phone calls looking for the first payment of $68. I told them I did not receive the statement and requested they resend it.
I also asked how much the interest rate was on this and she told me 35%, so I knew at that moment it was a really bad idea to have the credit card. I never received the statement but got a letter in the mail asking for the $68 minimum due on a debt of $535.12. I called them, talked to Charles and asked how this could be. All this while, the amount of the debt is rising, and they report every month to the credit bureaus that the debt has been charged off. The latest strategy they use is to keep switching collection agencies, so I can't even pay a collection agency! I have worked very hard to clear up 3 messes in my life, and this is one of the companies that uses underhanded business practices. When I did not get my card, I called the company. The rep claimed the card had to be made, then shipped out and that I should get it in 3 to 4 days. The 4th day came and went. The card did not come. I called the company again and asked for a supervisor. The rep refused to let me talk to a supervisor. I asked again and again the rep refused. I asked where my card was and explained to her what the late rep had told me. She claimed the card would come anywhere from 7 to 10 days. Something do not seem right about this company, so I decided to go online to see if they had any complains, and I found this site.

I first got this card with the APR at 9.5%. I pay more than the amount due. In fact, they have a balance due me of $67.00. I had no late pays, etc. The APR went to over 20%. When I called, I was told that "this is a fee based card.” I get charged for any way I pay except by snail mail. This is an unfair practice and should be banned.
After teaching for 30 years in Special Education, I am now on Temporary Disability and the prognosis does not look good. Triple fusion, I can not feel my left leg or right arm. I am going through financial ruins; I had to file bankruptcy 4 years ago. I am 60. I never knew I'd end up like this! But my son had cancer. My grandchild died at 5 (cancer) and I am unable to work. They are scam artists that take advantage of those in need when we live in tough times.

My husband and I are purchasing a home, but we had to build up our credit. We did not know that First Premier will be rule and disrespectful. We only have been late 3 times, but they call our house all times of the night saying "just give us our money, maybe we would think about not calling". I told them, "listen, the payment is in the mail. Do you want me to give you the number of the money order? Sometimes, we used our debit card to make a payment, but they are the most dishonest people I have ever seen. Do not get me wrong, it's a great card to have and the rate on the card is very high (20.15%, it's crazy).
I just want them to stop the phone calls every night. One called on 7pm telling me to send in a payment. I told her the payment was due on the 24th of September. They said, "well, we are going to keep on calling". Please help us. When we pay them off, we are cutting up those cards. Please help.

I applied for the card with the intent of re-establishing my credit; the company appears to be a scam. They prey on persons with limited options. I make close to six figures documented. But because I didn't have any credit cards (and had some slow pays 5 years ago), my credit would never exceed $615. So, I secured the "non-secured" card with all of the miscellaneous fees, to the point where you begin to pay interests in your own money.
Anyway, I made sure that my balance was paid in full before leaving for Army Basic Training, which is active duty status. And I incurred a monthly processing fee in that 10 week period that eventually was reflected as a 30-day late blemish on my credit report. Even after forwarding them a copy of my orders, they refused to reverse the negative credit reporting. The person I spoke with the first time said that they would take care of it. But today they said that it is my responsibility, and that I should have canceled the card if I were not able to make the monthly processing fee, even if I get shipped without notice. Currently, I have not been able to refinance my home, secure documented loan under 20% interest, etc. due to the negative reporting by First Premier Bank.

I paid on this premier credit card ever month. I never had a late payment. In July, I made my payment as scheduled and then I set up an auto payment through Wells Fargo bank. Wells Fargo immediately made a second payment to Premier Bank. I had Wells Fargo cancel the 2nd payment and refund my money on that payment only. Premier Bank cancelled the card because I would not make 2 payments to them. Now they say they have notified the credit bureaus that I owe them money. The fact is that I never made a charge on this card. The invoice or bill I received on August 9, 2010 says there’s no past due balance for a payment in July 2010. How do we stop these thieves from doing this? This caused negative on credit report.

I obtained two credit cards with First Premier Bank. Last February, I called to ask them to please make both of my cards’ due date on the 12th of each month. They assured me this would be done. Then every month since then, I have been charged with past due charges on these cards. And I have proofs that I make my monthly minimum payments via my online Bill Pay with my credit union and I always make the payments three days prior to the due date. My credit union has assured me that these payments are fully transferred to these accounts in that amount of time. I have tried to set up online accounts with First Premier several times with no luck. I keep getting error messages that I am not giving the correct card numbers or what have you.
I am calling them again today to ask what is going on. But, I’m sure it will do me no good. As it did last time, I called two months ago. I do believe this company is committing crimes against their account holders and it needs to be looked into. I am being charged extremely high interest charges and penalties against my credit card and my balances are going up instead of down. I have spent nothing on these cards since last December and have made my monthly minimum payments on time each month. Yet, I continually am being charged fees. This is costing me dearly. I am a disabled widow and cannot afford this kind of fraud to be done against me. Thank you.

The resort gladly returned my money, but they put $50 too much to my account. I had used my credit card for 200 and my debit for 100. Now FPB has suspended my account. They reopened my account so the resort can fix it as FPB suggested and they are just unwilling to work things out. These people are trying to tell me this is a scam, fraudulent activity, and suspicious. Now I can’t reserve any where else because of this setback.
Not only are they holding what is mine, they also have ruined my son’s vacation. I can’t reserve without my credit card. So now we are stuck at home. I'm not worried about my vacation. Now I have to tell my son a trip he has been planning since spring has been stolen from him.

This is concerning my First Premier Credit Card. I have had this credit card since October of last year. I was somewhat concerned about the initial fees, but I realized I needed a card to boost my credit rating. The APR isn't bad at all if you can get over the shock of the fees. I did, at one point, call customer care because I wanted to see what they could do about the monthly fee they were charging me. The gentleman told me that the fee was there to ensure that my payment each month was reported to all three credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion).
It does seem a little ridiculous to pay the fee, but if you have no credit and you are trying to build your credit, having this card helps. My credit score has gone up almost 40 points just by having this card. That is a dramatic improvement from what it was. This card is not intended for long-term use, in my opinion. It is a means to an end. Eventually, having a credit card with no annual or monthly fees is the way to go. It's a patient process, but eventually, your credit will build or repair itself. It helps to keep your payments on time.

Although there was a ZERO balance on the card when presented, and no actual charges made at the hotel, First Premier froze our card from use for 10 days. We had no knowledge of this, but called the company after the second time we were unable to use the CC. A phone call to First Premier clarified their process. We were informed that although we had checked out of the hotel without charges to the CC five days prior. First Premier had put a hold /blocked use of the CC for for up to 10 days unless we called the hotel and requested them to call First Premier.

We had a death in the family with an emergency funeral 1100 miles away. I paid one card almost off with funds to have on hand for gas, etc.
The annual fee hit on the other one - with moving and 2 recent family deaths, I lost track of when it hit. First Premier now cut off both cards because of the annual fee one. All of our cash went into paying off the other, they refused to grant a 2 day temporary line increase for $52 after 5 years of consistent on time, never missed a payment. Stranded by the side of the road 500 miles away from home in 100+ heat on the way to a funeral, dependent on a payment that has already been made to post, with a diabetic husband and disabled wife, with no extra food or drink for 3 days, missing my father in laws funeral.

I, Richard ** was approved for $350.00 credit card, never told that I would have all fees attached equaling $179.00 for the credit. Moreover, I was then charged a service fee monthly $7.00for service, which is very poor to say the least. I went to use my card for a cash advance because the store I was purchasing at did not have a credit card machine and was denied cash that was needed for the purchase; I called consumer service and was told that I could only take 10% of the credit cards limit ($35.00). I was very upset and explained to the service operator that i was in a bad situation not having cash to paid for my purchase, I was told that this was told to me prior to getting my card.
False, I was never told anything about all the fees attached to the card prior to accepting the agreement. I only knew of the high interest fees attached which is almost 60%. I then applied on-line with tri-shoppers (a company that sends you information regarding work at home $$$). This company never send anything to me and charged my card 49.95 per month and a set-up fee of 2.95, this was supposed to be billed to me after I had 7 days fee information that I was suppose to have training and that I would make money which the fee would pay for it self because of the money I would be making.
I reported this to First Premier Bank alerting them that I believe that the company is committing fraud by false claims. They ignored my phone alert and let the charges go on my card, I spoke to Jennifer who identify her self as security only to find out that she wasn't security. After three phone calls, I finally talked to security and was told that the said company (tri-shoppers) had tried to bill my card five different times, I asked "Isn't that good enough reason to look into the matter after I had reported the first try." I was given the number to tri-shoppers and spoke to Jason (manager). I told him that I wanted the charges removed from my card as I did not receive anything promised to me. He offered me two free months for my trouble and when I told him I wasn't interested he told me that the charge would be removed. Never happen, instead they made more attempts to bill my card.
First Premier Bank not all didn't take the charges off but charged me interest fees and bring my my card to the max. Limit I was not able to use the card, still paying interest, fees, and not being able to use the card. I stopped the account paid all my charges in full and refused to pay for any of the original set-up fees ($179.00). I had the card 4 months and couldn't use it for two of those months. First Premier Bank offers you the convince of paying your credit card bill on line with their company. Once you register your checking account with them you make the payment. I sent over my bank statement to their settlement department showing that the payment when thru and still they would not release this payment to my account. ACH transactions done online can be processed right or way or within 2 to 3 business days. There is no way that you should have to wait 7 to 10 business days for a transaction to process to your account. This is an awful way to do business and this should not be offered as a payment option unless you inform the customer that you will not post the payment until 7 days later and not remove the funds from their account until then.

I gave them a first payment of what I remember to be $130 in the form of a money order. I was told that checks took longer to clear. I would like to tell of my experience with Premier CC and give a bit of advice. In reading all of the complaints thus far, I feel a lot of the problems could be avoided if people took responsibility for their credit card. A few months back, I went on-line to apply. Sometimes (a lot actually) my internet connection will disconnect; this happened when I hit the "submit" button. I never received an e-mail, so I figured my application did not go though. I guess about a month after that I received a letter from Premier stating that I had been approved, the details of the offer: The processing fee is $95.00; Annual Fee $75.00;Credit limit $300. I must pay the $95. processing fee before my card is "open," then my available credit will be $225.00.
I put the letter aside and didn't think about the offer again until I got another letter from them earlier this week, with the actual credit card enclosed with the offer. It did state that the account would not be "open" until I paid the $95. processing fee. I decided to "Google" Premier and came upon this site (and a few others). I would like to thank all who posted their stories, they really helped me! I decided to open the account.
Here is my story. I got a debit gift card to pay the $95. processing fee and called the number. I told the service rep as soon as she came on the line that I received my CC and had a few questions. I basically told the rep that I did not have problems with the fee(s) but was worried about being able to make payments on time. Meaning, all the complaints about holds, late charges, and paying a fee to pay over the phone or internet. I am not interested in sending a check or money order through the mail because I do not want to get hit with a no payment and or late fee.
The rep explained to me that there is no fee to pay over the phone unless you speak with a rep; there is also no fee to pay on the internet but there is a one time fee of $3.95 for using the mypremiercreditcard.com site. I asked about any "hidden fees," she said there are none. They do charge an annual fee after the 1st year($75. and is billed monthly at $6.25). This is also confirmed in the papers I received. But she did state that there was no first year annual fee - that is not correct. It is listed on the papers I received with my CC and is the reason why my account would only have an available credit of $275 after paying the $95. processing fee (actual credit line is $300).
I decided after speaking with the rep about these things that I would go ahead and pay the $95. processing fee to open my account. The rep reduced the processing fee by $25. I would only pay $75. The rep also told me the $75 first annual fee (which she told me earlier did not exist) would be credited to my account within 7-10 days. I was assured that my prepaid debit card that I was using to pay the (now) $75. processing fee would allow them to credit my account the same day (actually she told me it would be by midnight. so next day) since I was paying by 2p.m. central; I would be able to use my CC the next day, my available credit would be $225. I asked when I would be receiving my first bill and she told me within a few days. Minimum payment due is $30.00.
After midnight, I tried to go on-line to their website (mypremiercreditcard) to register (one time $3.95 fee that would be billed to the card), so I could view my account, I could not. I tried again later in the day, and was able to do so. When I got on the site, I looked at the payment options (I just tried to do so now again but my internet connection is acting funny again - I'll try again before I actual try to post this). Now the rep told me that there was no fee to pay online, but from what I remember, it does look like they charge a draft fee to use your checking account? The site also lists the payments options they accept (not only for the website) and they list the means of payment that are considered "cash"- meaning no payment hold, and give the number for their free auto payment service.
I called early on Thursday morning using the automated payment service. It asked me when I wanted the payment to go through, today or I could use another date? I chose for the payment to go through today. Well, the auto service then told me to hold on, I would be rerouted to a live rep? The rep came on, was very nice. She started taking some information and then I asked, "Is this going to cost me $11.00?" She said, "Yes! I asked her why?" The rep stated that since I chose the "pay today" option that was considered an "express payment. " I told her I did not want to go through with this payment. I was using the free auto service, it was Thursday the 6th of May.
The closing cycle on my account is May 5th (same day I first called to pay the processing fee), and my due date is June 1st (all this information I found out from registering my account mypremiercreditcard.com). I obviously did not need to "express" any payment! (just want to add I was not rude about it - and neither was the rep). So if you want to use the free auto service, when they asked you when you'd like the payment to go through do not use the same day! and I decided to not allow the rep to reroute me back to the free auto service that I would just hang up and not pay at all; again all this happened yesterday, May 6th.
Today, Friday May 7th, still being worried about all the complaints with the company with payments not going through in time, holds etc., I reread all the complaints. I read where a person's account was frozen because the person used different debit cards. This worried me because I paid my processing fee with a prepaid debit card and I would have to buy another one to pay my account later in the month, in full. I, too, would be using different numbers (debit cards) - would they freeze my account as well? (I am not going to use my bank debit card until I feel more comfortable - I will get a re loadable debit card). What do I do? Call and ask!
I have read many complaints about not being able to get through to speak with a live rep. Well, I think part of the problem could be that some of you are using the free auto service? The number I use to speak with a rep is the same number I used to pay the processing fee, it is: 1-866-950-2800. I got through quite quickly and the rep stated that the only time an account will be frozen using multiple debit cards is when/if the card is not registered with the actual user, or there has been a report of fraudulent activity associated with the debit card previously.
I also asked the live rep about another thing that concerned me when reading some of these complaints listed on this site - changed due dates. The rep told me that the actual due date (when I have to pay) will always stay the same but the closing date will change depending on how many days there are in the month. For example my closing date is the 5th, it will change but will always be around the 3rd-5th of the month. My minimum payment due date is the 1st of the following month. This is very important to know because if you are making multiple payments during the same billing cycle. There will only be one payment made for the "due date." You cannot pay 3x's in a month and then think, "I don't have to pay my card for 3 months". That's not how it works. Multiple payments within a given cycle just give you more available credit. The closing date means any purchase made after that date will apply to the next billing cycle (your available credit will be affected of course!)
Closing comments/advice:
Know when your billing cycle closes. If you have a history with the company with late payments, send it off a few days after the billing cycle closes so it reaches the company in time. If you think you do send payment off early enough but are still having problems, then don't send through snail mail. Use a Debit card! (considered just like cash -even bank debit cards from your checking account - they are considered as cash and they do not use a "hold" on them). Call the free auto service and choose any day except same day (if you use the option for same day you will be rerouted to a live agent and they will charge you $11.00)
For those with money problems (all of us, right?) think of paying off your card in full, or a large amount and say to yourself: I am gonna pay off a large chunk of money to my CC but because I am using a debit card (just like cash). I can use the free auto service and I will have the money in a few days to use for bills etc. Don't play the Russian roulette game of sending in a check or money order that you know they can hold for up to 20 days!
Take responsibility for your lack of knowledge concerning your CC. Sign up your card (if you have not already done so at mypremiercreditcard.com) and log in daily or at least every few days to make sure you are not gonna get any surprises. You don't need to "wait" for the bill to pay what you owe. Know when your closing date is (by logging on the site) and then pay using the free auto service (800 number) by Debit card, so you can then use that money in a few days for other things. Again, look at it like you are paying your bill on time and then get to use that money again in a few days for things you need to buy/bills etc.
Good luck to all. I really do believe that if we all (myself included) would take responsibility for our CC, we can avoid a lot of the problems here.

I have suffered no damage from them this time because I choose not to do business with them. I own my home free and clear, have virtually no other consumer debt and they had the nerve, after I applied myself diligently to get out from under the marauding of companies like them, to bother me. To put it mildly, as far as I'm concerned, they can all go belly up asap and I wouldn't mind a bit. If there is anything I can do to assist them in having an enormous business failure, leaving the criminals who run them without a shirt, believe me, I would do it. Meanwhile, it's a shame they waste trees on Post Office time on this drivel. No, this obscenity. About time Congress got some courage and went after them. Oh, I forgot, these criminals own Congress. Every month there is a new fee and it is too crazy. This should be illegal. Why hasn't this bank been shut down?
I can't believe that we allow this to happen. There are no consequences for them, it makes me ill to my stomach. This card has continued to corrupt my credit, making minimum payments are not making a difference but in turn costs me more and more every month. If I cancel without having the amount due, then they add more fees. Talk about being stuck.

When I looked at my latest payment statement in March 2010, this company had doubled my interest rate to 20%. I always thought that a doubling of interest was due to poor performance on the part of the card holder. I have been acquainted with a new law called universal default clause.
As far as I can tell, this credit card is useless. My limit is $250 with 20.15% APR. I feel that they hired this person to solicit me to sign up and I even signed up for the stupid credit protection plan. They knew that the law was going to go into effect in January 2010 so they got as many suckers to sign up as they could in order to fleece me and other Americans. I feel like I've been molested.

I am writing to you regarding my credit card account. In December 2009, I contacted First Premier Bank explaining that I no longer wish to hold a credit card with their company. I had a balance of $258.07 and made a payment of $125.00 at that time. I spoke with a representative at their 1-800-987-5521 number and set up payments for three months at $30.00 a month until the balance was paid in full.
As I have been informed by several of their representatives through my numerous telephone calls, by no fault of mine, but a typographical error on the company's part, the number for my checking account (which I had used many times to pay my bill) was missing. A number or one was put in which my bank did not recognize as belonging to me or my wife and refused the payment.
In January 2010, after checking our online banking, we noticed that no payment had come out in the account of $30.00 as we had previously set up. On January 29, we called the company again and was informed at that time that due to a computer error, that the account was not paid, but that it was an error on their part--the number used was missing a digit (eight instead of nine numbers). Once again, we set up three months of payments (as that is all the company can do at one time) and on February 11, a payment in the amount of $30.00 came out of our account.
Apparently, the February 5 payment that was originally scheduled in December to come out of our account had inadvertently put in the wrong account number once again. And as I was told by one of their representatives on February 11, 2010, that due to the "automatic system" they have set up, it canceled the remaining payments we had set up after we discovered that no payment had been taken out of our account. The computer did not see or could not recognize that we had called and reset the payment because we saw that the initial payments had not come out of our account!
So once again, we set up three scheduled payments, now being given three separate "out" confirmation numbers and three separate "in" confirmation numbers! This, too, did absolutely nothing to correct the problem and they continued to add charges to our account which we had closed in December! On March 13th, 2010, we received a statement in the mail. And once again, we called the company trying to figure out what was going on with our account!
And by the way, our balance went from $258.07--a $30.00 payment had been processed and now, our account balance showed $461.35! I called the company immediately and was told the same thing. I have now been told a dozen times that it was a computer error, that the computer automatically used the erroneous bank account number and thus cancelled the scheduled payments we had set up, not once, but three separate time!
I just received my mail and I was seriously surprised when I opened a settlement statement from First Premier Bank dated March 10, 2010, offering me a settlement for more than my original debt! Once again, I phoned the company and spoke with a representative. He looked over the account and could not explain what had gone wrong but did explain that the reason our account has more than doubled was due to the fact that they have been charging me "over the limit fees" and "bank overdraft fees." And that they have been reporting me to the credit reporting agencies 30 and 60 days late for months now. They apologized but said that there was nothing they could do. There was no letter that they could provide me stating that it was their error--nothing in writing!
What am I to do? None of this has been in any way my fault. I have not only been the one contacting them for more than four months, but have also been the one dealing with these automatic system errors and been charged erroneously for them! I will not sit back and continue to allow this company to show that I have not only been paying on my account, but have gone above and beyond what should be necessary to fix their errors!
I would be happy to pay the account in full if they could come up with an accurate figure without penalties and showing the payments that they did process and never hear from them again. But I will not do so until I get a letter in writing from First Premier Bank that shows they have reported to the credit agencies erroneously that I am in default and have not paid my payments due on time when I actually scheduled them three months ahead of time!
I look forward to hearing back from you with regard to this matter. I have sent in the required dispute forms to their company and faxed letters to several numbers given to me by various representatives. I have received two emails from them--none of which has been at all helpful. I have kept a paper trail and can prove to all that I have written in this statement.

After reading the numerous postings regarding First Premier Bank and their unwillingness to work with customers, I decided to call (I have 2 accounts with them). They raised both of my cards from 5.9/9.9 to 20.15%. On top of paying fees every month, the added interest did not set well with me. My first bit of advice will come in handy. (#1) When you call to complain about your interest rate and they tell you there is nothing they can do about it, don't stop there.
Tell them you want to close your account and they will transfer you. (#2) When you reach the second rep., tell them that after paying all of their fees and annual fees (please don't try this if you have been late a lot or missed payments). You don't feel the increase was justified and you wish to close your account. I had both of my cards lowered back to the original interest rate and decided to keep them. Don't give up the first time you call. Call back and get someone else but be nice, it will get you a lot further.

When I received my April bill, I noticed that my APR went from 9.20% to 20.15%. I was told that this was done in order for them to comply with the new credit card mandate, and to protect their bank. I told her that this is not what the new credit card act was about and they are using this as a way to jack up the APR's even though you pay your bill on time. Also, I had a late payment warning on my bill stating that if they did not receive my minimum payment by the due date, I may have to pay a $29 late fee if my balance is $500 or less or a $35 late fee if my balance is $500 or greater and also on my bill was a minimum payment warning.
If I only make the minimum payment each period, I will pay more in interest and it will take me longer to pay off my balance and then gave me an example. She replied to me that the late payment warning must have been because I had another bill in my house that was late. My advice to anyone wanting a Premier card is to run far as you can from this company and don't look back they are a rip off especially if you pay your bill on time.

I made a payments on both cards 2 weeks ago of $200.00 and they are calling me because one card is over the limit due to a membership fee. My bill is not due until next week. All First premier customers need to close their accounts with this company. We are making them super rich off our hard earn money. They will try to get you to keep your account open, by offering a 30 dollar credit or lowering your APR back to 9.9%. As long as you close it in good standing, it won't hurt your credit, but may lower your score. I have closed and paid off 3 accounts with them, 1 left to pay but closed. It's a big relief for me and my wife. It cost me an hour or two of my time to do this closing of the accounts, also $22 in fees that were not necessary.

Also, once you pay off your entire balance, don't think you are home free because every month, there is going to be a charge for some fee. It is ridiculous. I think all of the people who complained on this website needs to file a complaint with the FTC. I think that is the only real way something will get done. It wasn't until there was a surge in complaints regarding identity theft that something got done and this situation is no different. There is power in numbers and once more and more people complain to the FTC, in addition to this website, then someone somewhere will have to take notice.

I requested a copy of the letter that has the new terms and conditions as she stated that I have until 3/19/10 to accept the new terms. She gave me an overview of the biggest changes and then told me that I have to accept the new terms or she would cancel my account.
I asked her not to make any changes to my account until I have a chance to read the changes to the terms and conditions. She said "No, I have to put that you accept the new terms and conditions or I will cancel your account". She was yelling at me and arguing with me that I had no choice but to accept the terms that I have not had a chance to read yet or she was cancelling my account. When I asked for a manager, she said no multiple times. I told her not to make any changes to my account, just to send me the letter that I did not previously receive and to put me on with a manager.
She finally put me on with a manager who told me that the previous rep has to either change my account accepting the new terms or cancel my account because that is her job. When I told her that all I wanted was a copy of the letter outlining the new changes, she told me that I must have asked to be transferred to that department where they enter the acceptance or opt out of these terms. I called today and asked if this is common practice to up someone’s APR when I have always made my payments on or before due date and more than the minimum payment. Samantha told me that they did this to all cardholders but they could file a form with the finance dept requesting they reconsider the finance rate but Congress made them do it. I said Congress didn’t tell them they had to go up that high only that they have a cap on how high that they could go. I have had this card for 4 years and told her this isn’t the way business is suppose to be done with a good customer! (God forbid they lower someone's APR for doing paying on time etc).
I told them that it's not the way they would be doing business with me. After I talk with an attorney, I will be closing my account. This type of business is what’s wrong with our economy. As a small business owner that extends credit to my clientele, I speak with some understanding of how to do good business with people. Here is the story. I work at a bank and have had way too many customer complaints about this credit card so I decided to apply for one myself. After reading all the terms and conditions, I was well aware of all the fees and finances charges so I never had an issue with that. However, this company is operating out of compliance under specific circumstances. I've been using this card like a regular credit card to test how they operate payment procedures as well as customer service. My first situation that I came across was when I used the card for a rental car.
After I returned the car, the representative at Enterprise inspected the vehicle and said everything looks good and they will release the security hold. After 3 business days went by and the hold wasn't released, I called Enterprise and they assured that it was. I called First Premier and they have a 15-day waiting period for receipt of purchase on all transactions. This is wrongful practice since there is nothing in writing disclosing this. I asked the supervisor to send me something in the mail showing disclosure about the 15-day proof of purchase and they never sent anything.
The second situation was when I actually had a dispute on my online statement. It was only for $25, but I investigated myself and the item was not my purchase. When I called customer service, they said there is a dispute form in the monthly statement they send in the mail. I said, "Come on now, you expect me to wait a month to receive the dispute form and then however long it will take you to investigate this?" The lady put me on hold and said to fax a letter stating the dispute and they will start processing. I received a letter 10 days later saying it will be under investigation, and if disputed, it would take up to 60 days (horrible customer service practice). Not much you can do about that except pray you never have a dispute.
So here is the deal. This is the worst credit card company in the country. Don't ever argue about fees or finance charges because you will not win. They can and will charge anytime even if it takes them 2 weeks to process a payment. I'm convinced that they are aware that I work for a bank and only applied for their card to catch them operating out of compliance, which I have. However, it is not worth it to pursue anything because, eventually, everything will come back to bite them. Do not use this card to place a security deposit for hotels, car rentals, etc. Make payments by mailing money orders because they have to process immediately since they can track when the money order was purchased and if they hold the payment, they will get caught doing so.

Well, I did apply for a credit card and was very happy to be approved. However, when I received my card, I was shocked at all the fees and costs for having a credit card with them. I was also wondering about the the fees they had already charged me with before I could use the card. They stated the card was already activated and gave me a $250 credit limit with an available limit of $72. Also, they said I needed to make a payment of $25. Yes, I did read that there is a start-up fee of $179 that needed to be paid.
I called a friend for guidance, and he recommended that I hold off on using the card and see if I could apply with another bank that did not charge so much in start-up fees and other monthly charges. So I decided to read the customer's reviews about this bank. I thank all of you for your comments. As I began to read the comments from previous customers, my heart dropped. I knew something was "fishy" about them. Thank you, thank you, and thank you so much. I will call them immediately to cancel my card today. God bless.

I received a bill for $204.00 but didn't owe that amount because only 71.00 dollar was on the card. They were supposed to give me a credit of $250.00 online. After that, I found out it was only $71.00. They were taking out themselves $179.00. I haven't purchased anything. So I called customer service and told them I would like to cancel my card. They said sure, to hold on and a specialist would be on the line shortly to help me out. What they mean by specialist is a sweet talking customer service rep who is going to try to talk you into keeping the card. So I went round and round with this guy and he comes with what he thinks will be the clincher. He is willing to give me a $50 credit that would take effect immediately and my available credit would jump to a whopping $121! I then proceeded to tell him that if he gave me a $179 dollar credit, I would consider keeping the card. After which, his whole demeanor changed and he told me to cut the card up and throw it away when I receive it and then hung up on me without a goodbye.
I need a credit card to build up my credit, but I don't need one that bad. If you are going to keep the card, it is worth calling and threatening to close the account to receive the $50 dollar credit. But if you read enough of the reviews, you will see that it just isn't going to be worth it down the road. I will just save up a few dollars and get me a secured credit card and build my credit that way.

I currently have four cards from this company. This truly is a company that needs to be investigated for their preying of people with poor credit scores. My wife has 2 cards and I have 2 cards. The fees are ridiculous and allow you to never really escape their pocket. $7.00 a month maintenance fee on a zero balance account, $50.00 annual fee, and to top it off, their credit limit increase fee has went from $25.00 to $50.00 starting February 22, 2010. And their interest rate was raised to 16.9%. Well, I have finally come to my senses almost, and closed 3 of them. They will try in every way to get you to keep it open, even offering a $30.00 credit. Don’t be fooled by their deceptive practices. I only keep one open with them because it has a longer credit history, which will help your score. One good thing is they cannot charge you a $3.00 fee on closed accounts according to the new credit card act.

This is crock! Do not do it! At first, it's a credit builder but the more you don't use it, the worse it gets! I have a small balance and they don't understand not to call my job. It's ridiculous. They even call on Christmas Day! All they wanted was the $20 payment and that's what they keep calling me for. One week, it's $80; then three days later, the balance turned to $100. They also have all your banking information too so be careful if they want the payment. They will take it out of your bank account just because you answered the phone. After I pay in full, I will still have to pay $7 each month just so it doesn't show a bad closed account on my credit.
The lady was so rude when she called. I explained to her that it was just Christmas and to give me a little bit of time. I will receive my taxes and pay it in full in Feb. She didn't want to hear that. It must suck to be a debt collector for that company. They probably receive commission on collecting debt. Just don't even bother with this card; it is credit card suicide. If you are trying to build your credit, pay your debt first and go with a credit card from a jewelry place. I did that and they were an awesome company and had a payment forgiveness and I paid it in full and there were no problems. I suggest Gordon's. They were great to work with.

Then there is a 9.9% APR that more than likely go up to 23.9% in the first 3 months with no explanation at all. There are other fees they assess you if you are late, over limit, bad check, etc. I think the only difference between First Premier Bank and Jesse James was he did it with a gun. They advertise as trying to help people with bad credit, but really they are just taking advantage of the poor people and lining their pockets. Anybody that is working there must not have any morals at all to see this and keep working there. If you apply for a job there, the first question must be "Do you have half of a brain?" And if you answer yes, they hire you. Anybody with more than that doesn't get hired. So we gave the routing number again to a person.
After discussing why there was such a hold on the fund, “Well, it can be up to 10 days.” I repeated back to her, “You’re telling me that it is going to be longer than 10 days and that you are going to hold the money until you feel like it?” “No. No, ma’am. You are putting words in my mouth,” said the supervisor. So in other words, I told the supervisor that I should not make plans for any of the funds that I sent you as payment from 7th of December. "No, you are putting words in my mouth. Let me explain. We have alternative ways of sending payment to us directly.” I told her that we talked to the agent and asked if we could do a debit card over the phone or bill pay. They said no. “I am sorry. My husband, Steve, applied for and received 2 Mastercards from Premier Bank. They were low balance cards, we thought, that were designed to help build our credit. These were not joint account cards but I was an authorized user. They show up on my credit report and should not be as I am not a joint account holder. I do not recall ever even giving them my SSN. Many times, we called in our payments on the day that they were due and still were charged a $25 late fee. When we called and asked, we were told that we had to call our payment in before 4 pm in order to be counted in on time. Even doing this, we were still charged a late fee which continuously also created an over the limit fee. At no time were we offered any type of resolution. This snowballed.
In April 2009, my husband had a heart attack and had to have surgery. We fell behind in our payments. A couple months later, we tried to call to resolve the issues and we were met with very rude customer service. We attempted to close the accounts and we were told that we would still be charged the monthly over the limit and late fees. The company called our home and cell phones and I, at one time, had to have my cell number changed and they somehow got my new number and started calling that.
On Sunday, November 29 at 9 pm, we received a phone call yet again from a rep from this company. I tried to discuss the accounts with her explaining the issues we have had with the cards and the late/over the limit fees and how we could not resolve the issues, and that when we tried to close the accounts, we were told that we would still incur these charges. The woman tried to strong arm me into making a payment at that very moment saying that this would haunt us on our credit reports and cause us problems for 7 years. I told her that I could not make money appear where there were none and she kept interrupting me, telling me, "Would you just let me finish speaking?"
She offered a 50% reduction of charges only if I made a payment of $90 that night. Again, we do not have the money and I told her that when we receive our income tax, we would pay off the accounts on both cards like we did every year. She was very rude minimizing my husband's heart attack saying, "Her husband had one too but this is a bill like every other bill." She said that it stated in the Fees, Rates, Costs and Limitations that we would still be charged late fees and over the limit fees on a closed account. It does not, however. She was rude to the point that I hung up on her.
I feel this company is very misleading and "robs" people of their hard-earned money with empty promises of building credit to those who need it. There was never any prior disclosure of any type of extra fees being incurred if you make payments after a certain time on your due date or late/over the limit fees being charged on closed accounts. In August 2009, my husband tried to close these accounts and we have been charged ever since.
I filed a complaint with the BBB and awaited a response. They came back with they would remove the information from my credit report but neglected to say how they got my SSN in the first place, or our cell phone numbers because we never disclosed those to this company either. They still stuck with the charges on closed accounts being in writing in the Terms and Agreement of their cards, but it does not.
This is an excerpt from that very same thing they claim states all these so-called fees: "Account Maintenance Fee: An account maintenance fee of $3.00 will be imposed for any month in which you have an outstanding balance of $20.00 or greater after you have closed your account. This fee is a Finance charge..." This is the only charge of any kind they mention pertaining to closed accounts. In their response, they also skipped right over the issue of all the late and over the limit fees on payments we actually made on time.

Please type 'Hi' or 'Hello' in the space below to let me know you are there. Our application process is safe, secure and will only take a few minutes.” I said “Hi, I just looked you up because of a news story I heard about your credit card. This is not only ‘not fair’; it's downright unethical. I won't be looking for getting credit from you any time soon. What do you say to this, Karen?”
Then Karen replied “There is an ‘account set-up fee of $29.00 (one-time fee), a program fee of $95.00 (one-time fee), an annual fee of $48.00 and a monthly servicing fee of $7.00.” I asked “Are you a live person? You didn't respond to the question.” And then she said “I'm a virtual agent with First Premier Bank.” I asked “Does that mean you guess at what a question says?” She said “Sure what is your question?” I then asked “How long does your rate last, in months?” Karen replied “After you complete your application, you will receive a response in less than 60 seconds. I have been using this credit card for close to two years now. I have never charged anything over my balance and every month I have paid them on time, with the exception of a single month where my payment was two days late. That month I called them to apologize about my payment and made the payment over the phone (for an eleven? maybe seven? dollar processing charge), to not be hit with a late fee. Each month I send them a check, write the amount in my checkbook, and am done with it. Whenever I have checked my online account with them, the payments have gone through. Last month I looked at my online account and noticed that I was charged a tremendous amount for being over my limit. Frantically trying to avoid late charges, I paid the penalty and the past due balance. I never received a confirmation number but moved on with my bills.
This month I went, like clockwork, to pay my bill. I checked my balance again and now apparently "owe" this company nearly $500-$250 of which are in late payment charges. I do not know how they possibly pulled this off. Did they "lose" my check? Did their automated system not process my payment? I don't know. But I called them today and asked them to please look at my payment history - which is squeaky clean - and credit me money back for the late charges. And the woman with whom I spoke told me the best she can do is credit my account $35. That means that I have to come up with the $250 before the end of my bill cycle or I get charged with another $50.
This is a scam. There is no question about it. This needs to be investigated because this operation cannot be legal. I can now not pay this company and continue to accrue debt that I know that I do not owe. I have also been having severe anxiety over this, as I do not have the money to pay them but cannot let this go to a collection agency, because I am trying to clean up my credit. My wife and I were looking for lower interest rate cards to consolidate and pay off our credit card debt. We have excellent credit ratings of 793 and 804. We applied for what appeared to be a legitimate credit card offer. I think it was a gold card, so we were under the impression we were applying for a $5,000 to $15,000 credit limit. We submitted an online application and the bank website appeared to be legitimate. Three weeks later, I received an email stating we had received a $300 (yes, get this, $300) credit limit. Our Costco card has a higher limit than that! If that weren't enough, the email notification stated we had $121 in available credit. That basically implies we have $179 in charges and haven't even received the cards yet nor an account number!
Apparently, interest has already begun to accrue as our first payment is already due. Yes, on the card we never received. My wife doesn't recall seeing anything about $179 in upfront fees being charged to open an account. She says she thinks she read something about a $75 and maybe a small annual fee. That (the annual fee) wouldn't have been so bad had we at least been offered some reasonable line of credit. But we've already racked up $179 in fees and we don't even have the product. Let's see, the card initiation fees are 59.6% of the total credit limit. Is that legal? Aren't there laws and consumer protections in place to prevent this?
I filed a complaint with the FTC, as the company's business practices constitute false advertising and might be construed as fraudulent. I'm also filing consumer victim reports with the big 3 credit reporting agencies and will report these problems to the credit agencies such as Experian. I read there have been several FTC actions taken against outfits like this - one I read of was operating out of Canada. I think the FTC issued a cease and desist order. I'm really ticked because my wife and I have worked really hard to establish good credit. It would be terrible if these people are to ruin my good credit rating through their terrible business practices. Please help. I want them investigated and for actions to be taken against them to the full extent of the law.

These people are ridiculous. They break FDCPA more than I can even count in one conversation, and have the most insane, awful attitudes I've ever encountered. I was paying them even with being unemployed, and when I called to arrange payments for later, they tried to sell me on paying the whole thing off. When I explained that I could not, they just got angrier and explained it was "for my benefit". I then was unable to make payments briefly but was still contacting them to let them know I was trying, and paying what little I could here and there.
I then started receiving illegal voice mails from one of their reps, Daisy, disclosing all of my private information on my voice mail, and even going as far as to curse. Just recently, after I decided to just pay online (to the tune of $7 per online payment fee), they started with the calls again to tell me I am past due. The first one I got was 2 weeks ago, and it was received while I was at work. I politely explained that I was back to work, and would love to set up arrangements now that money is coming in, but that I could not speak as I was at my place of employment.
I asked for a number to reach Ms. Casey (no last name). She refused, and gave me a speech about how she was trying to help me, and that if I didn't work with her, I would lose whatever "deal" she thought she was giving me. I explained again that I would truly like to get back to her when I'm not at work and asked for the number. She refused and claimed that she had left me numerous messages (funny, because I hadn't received one since Daisy months ago) and explained that I needed to talk to her now. I asked for the number again, and she raised her voice and began harassing me. I then hung up.
Another phone call came the next week - same time - I answered and explained that I would like to call them back/have them call when I'm not at work, the exact same speech from the exact same rep! I explained that her behavior last time turned me off from wanting to contact her, and that if she listened to me this time, I would call her when I got home. She then proceeded to harass me with the exact same speech - like she was reading off a script! I then said that I was happy making the payments online, but assumed she would like a commission, and that if she just gave me her phone number/extension, I would call back that evening. She explained that I apparently avoid responsibility etc. etc. and I promptly hung up on her again.
What is with these people? If they would just treat the customers with dignity and respect, maybe we wouldn't be avoiding contact with you? And if you weren't so sketchy, and so idiotic to call at the same time that someone had said was a bad time and expect a different outcome, maybe I'd have more faith in your company. Having worked in collections, I'm disgusted.

I made a few purchases and when I checked my balance a few days later, I was seeing a charge of $2 that I was overdrawn but that my credit limit had somehow dropped from $250 to $200. I then went and made a payment online for $50, of which they charged me $7 to make and then called them and confronted them about the over limit amount. It took me almost an hour and a half to get the point across that the reason for the over limit was due to their changing the limit amount.
I have since made another payment online which will cost me another $7 out of the $180.59 that I paid. I was told that the funds were on hold until the 14th for clearance but that when I used the card, the amount that the charge was for is instantly deducted from my available balance. I do all my payments online and there is only a couple that charge for that type of payment. All the other payments that I make get posted either within minutes of the payment or by noon the next day. The only reason for an electronic transaction to take any longer to process than that is that the funds are being held to draw interest before being posted.
If all the people that make payments have the payment held for two or three days, how much money do they make with it drawing that interest? I received many an email from this company saying "how much they wanted me back" and then they treat me with this kind of disrespect. I don't think so. There is no reason for an electronic transfer to take three days to post to an account, no matter what. My SSAN, disability, even my income tax is posted to the balance of my checking account within minutes of it being sent by these organizations, so why should it take all that time to post to my account other than this company's greed for money. Then she went through the usual spill that my card was past due. I let her finish and explained that I am not working and I am not receiving unemployment. She then asked if I was working and when my husband gets paid. I replied with, "Yes he is working." She then asked if he could pay and I told her no, he is taking care of enough. This is when the call took an interesting turn.
She then asked how long I have been out of work. I told her 2 years and she said, "I find that hard to believe. Well, you need to figure out how to pay this." I then hung up. Are these people serious? I have been looking for work for all this time, and I usually get the "You are over qualified speech." What am I supposed to do? I want to file a complaint against them because they are so very rude when people are trying to explain their situation to them. They are some of the few people that have managed to keep their jobs. Ugh! They have also charged me excessive fees when they contact me to set up a payment. I have to pay them a phone fee in the double digits or if I pay online, I still have to pay a fee. What can I do? We are living in very different circumstances these days and it is really hard. Consequences: Nothing yet, she told me that I needed to figure out a way to pay the bill and let me know that they would continue to call me.

I received a number of calls from this company stating that my card is over the limit on my next statement that hasn't reached me as yet. My next bill is not due until the end of the month. The representative told me that my account is in collections even though the account is paid promptly each month. The credit card in question has a $400 limit; however, each month the credit card company approves charges in access of that $400 limit. I don't see why I should be penalized for the actions of this company. The company threatens to put me into collections and report this to the credit bureaus, which is unfair to me since this account is always paid on time.

This company should not be allowed to operate. The fees charged are exorbitant. It is a rip off scam for people with less than perfect credit and charge for every little thing, even paying your bill! I have been ripped off for fees over $200 and they are rude to their customers!

Yes, I just got a credit card that I applied for. When I got it, they gave me a credit of $300.00 and charged me $179.00 initial fee, leaving me $121.00 credit. How do I get out of this?

I was issued with a credit card by First Premier Bank, but I came to realize that the charges are too high and they are not fairly applied. They charged me $172 which they claimed to be initial fee, following that another $29 account setting and other charges such as making payments online or by phone. There were so many charges which leaves the consumer with the burden of paying the debt. I am concerned because I was trying to build my credit but having a credit with charges over the credit line does not help. It's ripping money off from the consumers. I talked to the representative but they said I have to pay off since I have the card.

Many web sites are dedicated to this institution providing poor customer service and excessive fines. To validate this, all one has to do is google First Premier Bank and visit the sites of individuals providing reviews about service. I have dealt with this company for a month and have suffered rude, short, and painfully ill rapport with customer service from this "bank". The issue that truly needs to be addressed is the excessive poorly represented fees attached to my account and additionally excessive fees for what would be standard account service. The most ludicrous fees are the program fee, account set up fee, and participation fee. Overall activation of the account was in excess of $170 in fees that are not normal credit charges.
In short, someone sat down and decided to attach as many fees as possible to their clients. The biggest slap in the face is the monthly fee to view your account online. This is just outrageous! I have never had to pay for account access with any bank I have held an account with! It gets worse from there: if you make a payment via telephone, you get charged a "convenience fee" in the double digits, and a large fee is attached to making a payment online. It is known that banks may charge such fees legally, as long as they are competitive within the market. Once these fees are excessive and beyond what the average institution charges within the shared market, it does become a dance a bank will do on the line of enforceable law.
I believe First Premier Bank is crossing the legal line and a class action lawsuit may be a viable option. It should also be noted a new consumer law is expected to pass in January 2010 that will go directly at banks that have excessive fees towards their clients like First Premier Bank. At a time of people falling deeper in debt, the fees First Premier Bank are almost, if not, criminal. I am a 100% disabled veteran that fought in Iraq, and my credit went from good to bad because of the time it took for the government to process and adjust my income. I have bad credit now and I understand that that creates issues with banks. I also understand when I am getting taken advantage of. I expect the BBB to confront this institution about the business practices it has and to press First Premier Bank into fair competitive services and fees within the industry. It would be best for First Premier Bank to stop the excessive fees before the new laws are passed that protect the consumer in a few months.

I did not read the fine print when applying for this First Premier Bank card. The credit card they offer comes with upfront fees of about $180. There is also an Online Banking Fee, annual fee, and a "program fee" or something. Basically, it's a rip off card. I have bad credit, but I'm not about to pay some random bank just to raise it by a few points. How to get out of it: Call and say that someone had opened the account without your knowledge. The lady was very friendly and promptly closed the account and I did not end up paying anything.

This card really sucks. I get the bill; pay all the fees associated with this subprime card. Fees are outrageous. I was charged $95 program fee, $29 account set up fee, $7 twice for monthly service charge, $48 annual fee, $7 to make payment using their website and $3.95 to access the account online. I gave them almost $300 only to be told that since I used their website to make the payment that they were holding the funds for 7 days. I did not find this out until today when I called to check the available credit on the card.
I specifically spoke with a supervisor on 10/15 and was told I would have full use of my credit card. The solution was to conference a three way call with my bank to verify that the funds have cleared or I should have called in to their customer service number to make a payment using my debit card. What does it matter if I use my checking information or my debit card, it comes from the same account. Besides, if you talk to a live person and make a payment with them, they charge you $11 for the convenience. It’s bad enough that I was charged $7 for the convenience of making the payment via their website. The customer service is lacking, they really don’t care if you have been inconvenienced because of this. Now, I am inconvenienced until 10/20 when I was told my card would be available for use.
At this point, I have put a stop payment on the payment I made via their website and will only pay for my actual charges. Subprime definitely fits this company in their shady practices of charging all these fees upfront and their subprime customer service. Consequences: no use of a credit card that I have paid in full which has now put me in a financial bind. I was relying on using the card based on what I was told by a supervisor and what the website had clearly stated. I am now out $28 for the stop payment fee.

This card is horrible. The fees are so high that I never got to use it except for $75. I am out of work and tried to cancel. Now my balance is $468.27. I received a letter dated 8/19/2009 stating I could settle by paying 60% of balance, still close to $300. I cannot afford that either. What a way to take advantage of people already struggling. The $75 actual charged amount was paid, the rest are fees. This should be a crime in itself.

I had applied online for a credit card (MasterCard). I received one from First Premier about 2 weeks later. So I used it before I received the bill that was over $100 in fees, etc. I thought that since I used it, I had accepted it. However, when I went to make my payment on their site, I was charged for that too. This bank is a disgrace, and they should be put out of business.

On October 9, 2009, I called to report a stolen credit card. The woman took my information and told me a new card would be issued with a new account number, etc. Under the circumstances, I think the best thing to do is completely ditch the card, pay what I owe, but completely and permanently close the account. I told her this and she forwarded me to an "account specialist" who calls himself DJ and refuses to disclose his last name. I explained to DJ that since the card has been stolen, I want to cancel altogether and I asked him to refrain from sending a new card. I said, "I'll pay my balance owed, but just get rid of the card. I'm done with it."
DJ then became hyper-aggressive in his pitch to keep me hanging on. When I told him to please just cancel the account, he told me, "That doesn't make good financial sense to me. You have this card for only 4 months and now you want to close out, just because it was stolen and we're sending you a new one and changing your account number?! That makes no sense to me whatsoever!" I told him, "Your personal opinion regarding my desire to cancel is of no significance to me. Are you paying my bills? Are you bringing money into my home?" He said, "Well, uh no, but I just want to save you money." I said, "No you don't. You want to keep me as a customer because that makes you money, you're not trying to help me. Now just cancel the account already and do not send me a new card."
DJ then became very angry and aggressive with me, yelled at me, "Look, I'm trying to save you money here. What you are doing makes no sense. Your are getting a new card with a new number! I'm trying to help you." I asked, "Why are you yelling at me?" He yelled, "Because you don't understand what I am trying to tell you. You're not listening to me. I'm trying to help you, just listen to me!" I asked his last name and he got angrier, "You don't get that information!" I asked the name of his supervisor, "You don't get that information either!" I said, "Look, I'm paying you people money every month and I'm not allowed to speak to anyone but you? Let me talk to your supervisor now."
He said fine and put me on hold for less than a minute then came back with, "All our supervisors are busy so they'll have to call you back in 6-8 hours." I told him I would hold and he said, "You can't hold. They're busy." He then ended the call. After attempting to bully me into keeping the card, he then blatantly lied to me and said all supervisors were busy and I can't hold. As soon as he hung up on me, I called back and requested a supervisor, who must not have been too busy as I waited less than 5 minutes for her. She called herself Misty and promised I would not receive a card, and that the account will be closed. We'll see.

I have been fighting this for a while now, and they just keep going at it with me. I want this off my report and they say I have a card. I got a card from them but canceled right away since the fees are outrageous. The card says $300 is on it but when you call to get it activated, you are left with $25 since the fees are so high. So they got a call and the card was sent back without use and no activation on the card. I just happened to listen to the machine when on the phone with them, so please help me take this off my account. Thank you. They have a lot of people angry at them for this since they like to screw people.
