This company’s tactics and false advertisement are at an all time high stating that you have $1 million in coverage that if somebody steals your identity and deplete your funds that they will replace it if the credit card companies don’t. These are all lies they tell you to get your business. $1 million in coverage sounds wonderful. I couldn’t get them to reimburse me 5000 so how did they ever think that they would do 1 million? I have bought with this company for the last six months trying to get my funds back providing him with every document that they ever asked for answering every question, without hesitation, speaking with supervisor after supervisor to get no relief, and the been continually asked for the same items that you’ve already explained to them 15 times just so they can prolong and not pay out.

I get it, companies want to make money, but..WOW!!! Norton now hemorrhages UPGRADE, UPGRADE, UPGRADE! WORSE than the gov't wanting to spend more money that doesn't exist! It's ridiculous how much norton antivirus tries to get you to upgrade for 2 - 3 times the cost and for what!? Only to be hounded to upgrade again? And for only an extra feature that SHOULD have been included in the most basic subscription to begin with!? Go ahead, unsubscribe to their daily emails about "upgrading" BUT Don't forget to shut off "Notification" settings about.... Can you guess it? YEAH! UPgrades! (Btw, hope you enjoy silencing notifications E V E R Y Day, that's the longest they allow you to do so.)

The most basic features on any other antivirus, ANYWHERE else is considered an extra $20 - $59 upgrade! I won't finish out my subscription with norton antivirus. I've been with them for about 50 days and it's getting WORSE! Want to have your browser protected? Great! Go for it... But it won't work on Brave Browser. In fact, it will only work on lol..Edge, Chrome and Firefox. Anyone else? Nope! Not happening! Don't bother with "LifeLock" WOW.. What another joke for a EXPENSIVE service. You can set your alerts on your bank acct apps and freeze your credit for FREE, and catch bad things happening faster than lifelock. Lifelock NEVER ONCE notified me that there was fraud on me... Yet, my bank alerts and frozen credit sure did! And remember, those..are F R E E!!

Norton/lifelock..Nooope! Uninstalling within 5 days, I don't care if I lose out on this useless subscription! BTW, UNCHECK Auto Renew!! When it is set, AND It IS by default, to "Auto Renew" they'll hit ya with FULL cost.. If you're not prepared for it, it can really cause issues. (Friend of mine had it done to him. He has the gamers version of norton.. Idk.. I don't play games online, but he said, he forgot to shut off auto renew, he didn't get ONE notification that his subscription was set to expire, 109.00 later he was already charged!

So, who am I going with instead of, "all flash and no sizzle" norton? I'm NOT going with MacAfee, that's for sure! Had them for 4 years, WILL N E V E R go back.. (Check the reviews, you know, the ones that in depth, not that are so vague that a spider's web would be able to catch more fakeness.) Tried, Kaspersky before I had mcafee, good.. But...then the whole thing about ** owned blah blah blah.. So, to the reviews I go, looking for a yet ANOTHER antivirus. Hope you choose wisely with yours.

Their Utilities Ultimate didn't work properly and I had contacted them about this more than once. Lots of glitches with programs, communicating with their server and logging in. Services renew automatically, so while there was no disruption in service, my computer still got viruses and damaged the hard drive. I decided to go with my internet provider's anti-virus protection and contacted them to cancel, stating I wasn't satisfied with the programs and requested a prorated refund. I was told I couldn't receive a refund on all of it, as it had been over 180 days. I paid $291.01 for just under 6 months "protection", still got computer viruses and was told all they would refund me is $36.79. Save your money!

Meaning it's up and running and I am losing time. I called to tell them they're all activated and they said that's what I asked for but that Is false. All I asked was for product keys. Very unprofessional, Horrible customer service. I would not recommend this antivirus to no one. I've owned a computer business for about 20 years and I am clearly going to move out of Norton. I am going to remove Norton from thousands of my clients and I am no longer going to put it.

Then, I was told my operating system (Mac) was out of date, that I should change operating system, etc. "Too bad, you are past your 60 day refund window. Thanks and bye." Not happy with those people. Purchased their 360 subscription, I believe. It's bloatware, and you can't interact with the software without it finding somehow to "upsell" (i.e. force ads on you) their other products. And, of course, it'll randomly pop up ads on its own all the time. Gotta get those upsells! And yes, I have clicked on "don't show me this again" until my fingers (metaphorically) bled and have combed through the settings with a fine-toothed comb. Nevertheless... constant ads interrupting my work at every opportunity.

Performance is poor, especially on updates. Lately, it seems like every update has caused the software to crash and forced an immediate restart (or to continue browsing with no antivirus in place). And of course, they don't send a courtesy renewal when subscriptions are ending. Gotta make sure to get that one last payment from unhappy customers who forgot to set a calendar reminder about the renewal date, after all! Overall, ad-centric bloatware that absolutely refuses to run quietly in the background and intrudes on every aspect of the browsing experience. You can do better, for less money, and certainly with much less intrusion, elsewhere.

I had Norton a few years back and decided to switch services from a competitor. Was not unhappy with competition just thought I would switch to see if competition not doing its job. Well I have never been so disappointed with an application as I have been with NORTON. Not sure it is really doing much other than sending me spam and constantly asking me to pay for more when I already paid for the service. Will be dropping them as soon as my paid subscription is up. I know they have something to do with Lifelock and will likely just get rid of both. Tired of being asked every time I log on indicating need to do something and then there is a charge. I would call them but hard to find a number to call and figure they will probably charge me for the call.

I am a current paid Norton 360 Deluxe subscriber. In late August, my Outlook e-mail program began generating an unstoppable stream of mysterious, unexplained draft outgoing messages without a visible addressee, subject line or text. I was able to stop the process only by restarting my PC, but after some time, it started all over again. I ran several Smart Scans using the Norton 360 software. None detected any threats. I then scanned my entire system…. Time duration 6+ hours...using the Microsoft Safety Scanner (MSERT), which detected and successfully removed 176 instances of hacktool.win32.keygen.

Due to this experience with my Norton 360 paid subscription, as well as its endless solicitations, both veiled and blatant, to “upgrade” or add features for which I have no need, I made repeated attempts to cause Norton, via e-mail, to explain this intolerable failure of its AV program and give it an opportunity to convince me to renew my subscription. A "customer support" representative finally called me at my insistence today, 11/4/2022, shortly after 1:00 PM EST...after first trying to pawn me off on a technician. She couldn’t think of a single word and failed miserably to defend the Norton 360 software. Worse yet, she was hopelessly unprofessional, discourteous, disrespectful, even rude, and customer-averse, constantly interrupting and trying to talk over me, without the foggiest notion of what the term “customer service“ means.

After the verbal exchange, I asked that I be sent a customer review form so that I could rate the experience with her, but am still waiting. Hence this public review. I have since cancelled my automatic Norton 360 Deluxe renewal, which would have cost $109.99, but subsequently entered a new one-year subscription for $39.99, only to avoid the hassle of switching to a different AV program. I will definitely end that if I experience any further problem. My recommendation to all would-be Norton subscribers: Try the free AV software download, which is what I will do in the event the new Norton 360 subscription disappoints once again.

After an even lengthier conversation I told the agent to cancel my service and I stated "I want nothing else to do with Norton", I removed Norton from my systems and contracted with a different company.

Today 9-6-2022 I received a text from Norton they were charging $199.00 to my card for renewal. I bought Norton's 360 for Gamers 3 users at Walmart. The software didn't work at all for me. So, I contacted their (Norton's) tech support, they wanted my social security number, another credit card and my credentials. I saw this as a scamming attack and then they would hang up on me. I had to call over and over again. Then they told me that since I got my software from a third party, Walmart I couldn't get a refund from Norton's either. I had to go back to Walmart. I went to Walmart who told me that once I scratched off the code. I couldn't get a refund as part of Walmart policy. I contacted my bank about what happened to me and they said they couldn't stop my payment or refund me either. They said I should go back to Walmart and ask nicely for a return. So I contacted Nortons who re-instated they wouldn't refund me my full year's service I paid for but couldn't use.

They tried to me to extend my service I couldn't use. It was only when I told them to stop my service that they told me I could by the Norton VPN 360 for gamers (Deluxe) which could fix all my issues but nobody mentioned this until I asked to stop my service. At this point I neither trusted Norton's company, their staff OR their services. And they never did give me my money back. How can Norton sell products through 3rd party companies (customers) they can't use unless it's bought by Nortons directly. And you can't get a refund if anything goes wrong or be fixed.

Norton is the biggest scam ever. I have the Norton 360 Total Protection plan and I got a virus. Three times Norton tells me to uninstall and reinstall the antivirus software, which doesn't make sense to me. But I did twice, after the third time of being told to do this in a matter of a week, I said no, it is not working and seems like it's only letting whatever is on my system stay. They hung up on me. I chatted online with them after that so I didn't get frustrated and become abrasive. They told me that they would help me if I paid them more money to upgrade my account to include the support I needed. I did not expect Norton to be so greedy.

My computer became infected after their software informed me that there was an issue that needed to be resolved. I attempted to resolve the issue but it was unable to complete. I called and Norton said to uninstall and reinstall Norton's software. I did, and at that time my computer cycled through a relentless number of pop-ups and the screen went blank or would flash insistently. Norton told me that they needed to escalate the case to another team and I would receive a call within 24-48 hours. WHAT?!?! She also said that it was ok to use my computer since Norton is installed on my system and will protect It even though the popups continued. I did not receive a callback, so I chatted with customer service and they wanted more money, $149 to be exact, to even look at my computer.

I am so infuriated by this and want to share this experience with others so that you are aware that Norton's protection is not effective and that when you do have issues with the software, they are not there to support you, be accountable, and will seek more money from you. Because if you don't pay them, then you are stuck with whatever they let on your computer. I would definitely choose another Security software other than Norton.

Norton might be a good product for other consumers, but for me, using Norton has been more labor intense and time consuming than I preferred. (1) I have had no success with running the Password Manager on either my laptop or my smartphone. Tech Support walked me through it twice for the laptop and after 1+ years, I still cannot use it. (2) Anti-track has slowed the computer processing significantly (my browser is Edge) since it has been downloaded. It works well, but the processing speed is annoying. (3) Norton has blocked the SSA government website, indicating the site has not been verified to be safe. Maybe it was a fluke, but more time consuming again.

    (4) My biggest disappointment with Norton has been its Customer Service, over the past two days I have been on the phone for a good 3-hours and need to call back again in two hours for their Tech Support, as they are running server checks and could not help me with my account. Sadly, that is the same comment I got yesterday about calling back and for the same reason. I just keep getting transferred from one department to another and getting nowhere fast. And all I wanted in the first place was to cancel my subscriptions so they do not renew and here it is day 2 with nothing but getting the run-around. I was hoping for a Prorated Refund (terminating the account now), but it appears I have to keep the account open until the subscriptions run out and terminate on the December 2022 (would be) renewal date. Keeping my fingers crossed to see if all is resolved today.

I purchased 360 Deluxe internet security package from the official Norton Anti-Virus website, with immediate payment directed through Google Play. I never received any correspondence from Norton with confirmation of my order or steps to set up the software. I was NEVER contacted by them. I only received confirmation from Google Play for the payment. I never got to use their service with this purchase.

As I did not receive any goods/service for my payment, I requested a refund from Google Play and Norton. Google Play refused to co-operate and told me to request a chargeback from my bank if I was concerned. Norton LifeLock was completely unresponsive to the claim I opened for a refund. The only way to contact Norton was through online chat on their website. The assistants did nothing to resolve my issue. I tried twice to raise this claim with them. Otherwise there is just no means of getting in touch with them.

I arranged a chargeback with my bank, and my bank escalated the dispute to Visa International. Visa International arranged a refund for me. However, Norton had the opportunity to reverse the refund within 30 days if they were not satisfied. They charged me again for the same amount. I reported Norton to the ACCC and the Federal Trade Commission in USA. I'm now going to bring the case to the police. Norton (also known as Symantec) is a scammer. Please AVOID their business at all costs. Please do not give them your money. Purchased in October 2021 at Norton LifeLock for $89.99.

I purchased a Chromebook through Verizon and was looking for an antivirus before I would be using it. Since Black Friday was coming up, I received an email from Norton advertising their software with deep discounts for the first year. I decided to purchase the Norton 360 deluxe because I felt it had what I needed to feel secure on the internet. I made the purchase through Paypal and attempted to download the software to my Chromebook. I received a notification that the software was not compatible with Chromebook so I tried to contact their support team for a refund. Since the hold was going to be long, I opted to use their chat function instead. I gave all information needed for each prompt and plainly said I wanted a refund since I had no use for the product. Of course they tried to get me to keep it for another device, but I already had a service on my cell and had no need for it.

Instead of cancelling and giving me a refund, they only cancelled the resubscription in a year. They tried to be slick about it, but when you purchase with Paypal and get a refund, you receive an email, I never got an email, so I had to hold on the chat for another agent to issue the refund. I had to give the same information again. The crazy thing is I had just purchased the software and they asked me for the order number after verifying my email address and phone number. Of course I had it but it just seemed a bit much. If I had not caught them not refunding me they would have kept my money. To me, if a customer has no way of utilizing a product, they should not have to ask three times for a refund, I did. This is a terrible business practice.

The email advising me of the subscription renewal arrived the day it was due (the email said to cancel I would have to cancel 48 hours BEFORE due date). Prior years I would always have received the notice a few days before it actually went through my financial institution. It seems they are now run by Geek Squad as third-party supplier. To cancel you have to call them and jump through numerous hoops - besides the fact that they do not understand what you are telling them. They kept talking to me about my Capital One checking account, which I do not have and have never had. They speak to you like you do not know anything, when in reality it's them that do not understand.

I'm praying that the refund/charge has gone to the correct account since once we were on a TeamViewer they decided to cruise through all my open tabs and obtaining other account numbers. I was with them for YEARS. I would not trust them any longer. Geek Squad is losing business for a reason, Norton. Get rid of them and go back to an in-house customer service.

I have no issues with the software itself. I have an issue with dishonest marketing. I buy (or did) Norton antivirus software at Staples every year on boxing day or black Friday at an 80% discount at Staples. I purchased a couple of years ago (10 uses for $29.95). To register the product it was necessary to enter a credit card number for an already purchased product. To avoid auto renewal at regular rate auto renewal needs to be turned off. We are already in predator territory here.

I did in fact turn it off. And did not make it to Staples for my 80% discount a year later. Upon doing so this year and entering my product code I found out I had been auto renewed for $140 for what I usually pay $29.95. And I had tuned auto renew off. So I was victim of a bait and switch. I did ask for a refund due to Norton's predatory policy and was refused. I wanted to return today's inexpensive Black Friday purchase for $40 for 10 uses as I no longer trust Norton. I was refused a refund by both Staples and Norton.

So I am left with no choice but to reluctantly use the service I paid for. If you buy Norton (and I would not recommend this) - after entering the product key click and turning off auto renew click on the chat icon in your account and ask for confirmation that auto renew is turned off in your account. And click on the transcript icon at top of chat for a copy of chat. It may be the proof you need to avoid highway robbery. The fact is that Norton anti virus auto renewal process IS IN FACT A VIRUS.

I have been a Norton customer for years, and am overall pleased with their service. Their communication system and refund policies, however, leave a lot to be desired. I underwent what most companies call a "life change" - my fiance and I started combining expenses. Because he had computer protection through another source with multiple seats that his children were also using, it made more sense for me - one person - to re-locate my computer protection to an empty seat on his plan that five others were using rather re-locate five people to my plan.

I tried to contact Norton voice support, but the automated menu would not connect me to a person. It ended the call three times when "too much background noise" prevented my response from being understood...yet all of my other responses were clear. I had to search the internet for the correct numerical sequence to bypass the system to be added to the queue for voice support. This was clearly an example of intentionally hindering customer interaction with a person.

When I finally reached an agent and requested a partial refund, I was told that since my automatic renewal was charged on 24 May 2021, the 60-day period for a full refund had expired. I clarified that I was not requesting a full refund and only wished a partial refund for the months I was not going to use. I was told that Norton did not do that. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, the individual's available time to speak to me kept changing - first it was a couple of minutes, then it was ten minutes, and then it was she had no idea because of "meetings". This is a clear example of the individual's goal to force me to hang up the phone. I find this reprehensible.

The policy is unacceptably rigid, costing people who undergo situational changes outside of Norton's preferred schedule hundreds of dollars. The automated system's intentional hindrance with connection to a person, the company's policy, and the supervisor's treatment of me as a customer are unethical and disrespectful. I used to recommend Norton to friends or family looking for computer protection...as of today, that practice is over.

Norton offers software to protect you from scammers, but their business model is set up to rip you off. Clever. They set it up to automatically renew, whether you want to or not. They don't tell you when your software is due to expire, and conveniently neglect to tell you they've charged you for another year, knowing many customers won't realize it. When you call customer service (overseas), their "representatives" read from a script that they "understand" your frustration but that it's too late to get a refund for a product you didn't want or use, because that's their "company policy." What a sham. I gave one star because zero stars wasn't an option. The UK market watchdog is suing Norton. Regulators in the U.S. should be suing them, too.

All seemed to be working except one child's device seemed not to be "monitored" despite downloading the software correctly, as I had with the other 3 kids' devices. I called tech support and asked her why the one child's device was not being monitored. She proceeded to walk me through a series of steps that seemed very much like I was starting all over from scratch. I told her several times that I do not want to start from scratch but just need to find out about one of the 6 devices I was monitoring.

She did not listen to my query but seemed to be reading from a script and going down a pathway for a problem that I did not have. Her actions ended up erasing all the work I had done the day before and after 2 hours and passing the control of my computer to her, she had messed everything up so badly that she said that someone else will need to step in. She told me to call back and ask to speak with someone who specialized in Family monitoring part of Norton. I did and again waited 20" on hold and had to start over again. That person then told me that the previous tech person had logged on too many times and that I had to wait an hour to try again. He conveyed that he would make a note in the record that I was to be connected to a supervisor when I called back in one hour.

Keep in mind, that I have to wait on hold to be connected to a human being for 20 minutes minimum (and sometimes much longer). So then in the next call, the tech person said she is working from home and cannot remotely assist me and to try back in a few hours. It has been 2 days and my account is in complete shambles, no monitoring being done at all and I have wasted so so so so much time!! I wish I had never signed up with Norton. Had to be transferred for that problem and a 20 min wait. Nobody was able to help at their outsourced customer service.

When I finally got fed up with deciphering broken English I requested USA tech support. Still got outsourced to another foreign country after another 20 min hold on the phone where I was told that its another department and another 20 min wait to get help with that problem. Mobile phones was another department and PC support was a separate department. Finally cancelled my order that I had just purchased 2 hours ago. 2 hours I had spent trying to get Norton installed on my PC and phones. It should never be that difficult an endeavor to install an antivirus on a persons equipment. The only time I didn't have a wait time or spoke with someone from the States is when they took my order and my money for their lousy service.

I bought Norton Anti-Virus in a local store with a code to use online to get anti-virus protection. I think the product itself is good, it's the policy that feels me like I am a "captured market", do not the right to decided for what I want. I remember when I activated the anti-virus, I asked to enter my credit card information and because I can not proceed without entering it, I entered it just the same, and click boxes that would enable me to finish the installation - just to be done with it.

After almost a year, I saw a charge in my account of $94.00+. I don't intend to renew it with them at this cost! Why would I pay this much if I can buy it in a local store for less than half the price? I was told that they provide support as well. Well, I don't need anything other than simple protection. Why can't I have a CHOICE? Am I not supposed to decide how to spend my money? After a long talk, they are willing to refund my $94.00+ but I have to pay $40.00 for the cancellation. Not only that, they sent an e-mail with a link to pay right away, they don't even want to charge it to my card. This is not a customer-friendly policy at all. Are businesses not supposed to earn money from customers? I am getting any service here, yet they want me to pay.

I called for A NEW identity theft occurrence and couldn't pass their security questions, because THEY had inaccurate information on my past (possibly due to identity theft)... An hour and 15 minutes after I tried and TRIED to work through their incompetency, I asked them to cancel my membership and pro-rate the 163 days remaining that I had on my membership. The supervisor (whom I was transferred to early on in my phone call) informed me that she was unable to cancel my membership, but would put my account into the "Escalation Team" for review. "If they deem it appropriate, they will cancel your membership and decide if they will pro-rate the balance back to you."

Now I wait, she had no time frame to share with me about ANY of it. When I asked her for a phone number, fax number, mailing address or email address for the Escalation Team she responded that they did not have any of that contact information. The only contact information that she had to share with me was... 800-LIFELOCK (which has more #'s than a regular phone number even). I will NEVER but ANYTHING Norton for the remaining of my years!

Norton Secure VPN is a terrible product riding on the coattails of Norton's virus protection legacy reputation. I have had Norton's Security and VPN service for 18 months. It has not worked properly for any of that time.

    1) Secure VPN will not automatically connect. Period. You are forced to quit it, then relaunch it every time you connect to the internet. Ridiculous.
    2) When using the VPN, it will not allow you to connect to ad links resulting from google searches. Absurd.
    3) It measurably slows down the interoperability of many sites.
    4) Norton Secure VPN does not allow for consistent, reliable connections to services such as Quickbooks.

    5) It is so bad, that 3 of the 4 people for whom it was installed on laptops, desktops (both Apple and Windows), and mobile phones, have given up trying to use it.

When attempting to contact Norton for tech support, you wait on hold for 25 minutes, only to be connected with an off-shore call center which has a connection making the person whom you are speaking sound like they're in an auto-tuned music video. The wait time is an insult to you, and they obviously do not respect or value you as a customer. The fact that they have such low quality connections also demonstrates that they simply do not care about actually helping a paying subscriber.

When attempting to initiate a Chat session, you are routed in circles, filling out the same form over and over again, and never being allowed to actually initiate the chat. They have invested time and effort building a support database, but if your solution is not found, they simply have no interest in actually having contact with you. It would be bad enough if they simply had a poorly performing product, but to add insult to injury by raising prices, and then not offering actual support is offensive. I can not warn you away from this product strongly enough.

This is THE WORST experience I have ever had. Signed up in June after my husband and my identities were stolen. But couldn't get my husband's account to open. Only was able to access my account. Numerous calls to this company trying to figure it out. The wait time alone is about 40 minutes. Once you get connected to a rep and go through the whole issue, they tell you that they need to transfer you to Norton Lifelock as they are only Norton. Another 40 minutes to get to someone.

This literally took 3 weeks for them to get it figured out and hours - and I am not exaggerating here - HOURS on the phone with them. They sent me to their Cyber Security team to try and figure out why his account could not get accessed and then wanted to send me back to the tech team - the tech team wanted to send me to Cyber Security. Meanwhile, I hired this company to protect our assets and we couldn't access or protect my husband's holdings during this time.

At one point, I asked the rep to send me to a manager. The rep asked me why I wanted to talk to a manager. I told him because I am a paying customer and I want to speak to a manager now. He said - direct words, "it's not going to happen". He would not transfer me to a manager. We had to verbally give my husband's private information over the phone to a rep. What is secure in telling a complete stranger all of your financial information over the phone when this is information that is supposed to be able to enter in their 'safe' application. So we are now giving a total stranger all of my husband's personal information so we could at least have his information protected. They ended up having to delete his account and re-enter it before it worked. They gave us 3 months free for the inconvenience.

Then, the accounts they were supposed to monitor kept disconnecting. They send you an alert telling you this. Daily, I had to relink at least 4 accounts so they could continue to monitor it only to get another alert that they were disconnected again. They tried to tell me that the institutions that were dropping must be going through an update on their own site. Every day? And different accounts continually randomly dropping? My bank is going through an update every day? I don't think so. What good is a security company who is supposed to monitor any suspicious activity if they cannot stay linked to your information?

So I called and went through the whole process of waiting and being transferred and getting disconnected with this company. They tell you they will have someone reach out to you when it is resolved. A whole week goes by and we had to call them to find out the status. They give you a case number on the original problem but when you tell them what that is, they tell you that case number is closed.

I sent an email to the president of the company with all of my complaints. Never heard from him. On my daily calls - and yes, they were daily - to Norton, I was finally sent to a manager. Told him all of the issues and the lack of help and the no follow up. He assured me he would get things settled. Gave me his name - Josh and his ID number and that he isn't going to apologize about what happened because he believes in getting things fixed. Gave us another free month of service for the inconvenience. Said he was going to call me back in 48 hours. Never happened.

I called back wanting to speak to Josh. No one knew who he was. At this point, we had had enough. We'd only been with Norton for one month and it was a continuous headache with no resolution. We cancelled on July 9. Got the case numbers for both accounts. You'd think that would be the end, wouldn't you. Not with this scam of a company. My husband received an email stating his credit score was available on Norton. The account is supposed to be CLOSED. Called Norton demanding this account be closed. They weren't going to do it because they needed to speak with my husband (who was at work). I told them they'd better damn well close it as we called individually on 7/9 to cancel the accounts and we had the case numbers.

The only reason they closed it was because I was the one who was the primary account holder and used my credit card to pay for services. They wanted to know if we would be interested in keeping the service and giving us 40 percent off! I laughed. I've already been given 4 months of free service, now they are giving me 40 percent off to continue. I said absolutely not. They wanted to keep the account open for the free months we were to receive. I said absolutely not. I don't care if they gave me this service for free. It was a complete mess and they do not resolve any issues.

My uncle signed up when we did and he cancelled the same day we did due to all of what was happening, as well. My uncle prepaid for his year and they refunded the remaining balance. Then a month later, THEY REINSTATED HIM AND CHARGED HIS CARD. Had to call them again to remove that balance and told them this was a fraudulent transaction. They offered him a 40 percent discount to stay on and also were going to keep him on for another month.

I have warned all of my family and friends about this company and hope that you can dodge going with this company by my experience. We went with Identity Guard, which has been rated #1 for the past 10 years in customer satisfaction. I wish I had done my homework instead of listening to the continual Norton LifeLock commercials. Identity Guard is also about $300 cheaper annually than Norton, as well. You get a person on the phone immediately and they go through everything with you. I hope this is the end of my interactions with Norton Lifelock. Cannot stress enough to stay clear of this company.

This is important as things do change. If you do not use the benefits from it, and update and continue with scans etc. at least once a week, then you are in trouble as with any protection. This will scan as a quick scan, but you need to do a full scan and check everything once a week yourself. That is what I do on Saturday's as I am usually doing things around the house and you can come back on check on it and go on the the next item that needs to be addressed. For the past week, people, including me of course, cannot connect to the VPN at all. Unbelievable. Not renewing my subscription. PS: Norton has never responded to to my original complaint.

Original Review: Prior to the most recent update, I had no problems whatsoever. Since the update, my computer is slow. I literally have to reboot every 20 - 30 minutes because computer locks up. I can't get into common websites without getting out of the VPN (kind of defeats the flipping purpose), INCLUDING the NORTON website. I had to disconnect the VPN to post this! I have contacted them twice with no resolution. The Norton forum has 4 pages of the same complaints. This has been going on for almost 2 months!

Norton deserves zero stars. In order to install Norton Antivirus on your computer it appeared that you are required to enter your credit card information to proceed with the install, very clever on Norton's part. I tried entering a false credit card number, but the system did not accept it. I entered a false credit card expire date and a false CVV number, knowing that those clowns were going to pull this stunt. I cancelled my automatic renewal on the web site, however they charged my card anyway for $104.99. I complained to Mastercard, but they said that Norton forces the charge through the system, even with the wrong exp. date and CVV number. Spent an hour on Norton's chat line to try to cancel. Norton tried everything they could to make this more difficult and to change my mind. They then sent me an email stating that the subscription would be cancelled at the end of another 12 months.

Then I phoned Norton 1-888-680-2809 and got the runaround from them. They wanted remote access to my computer to uninstall Norton, after which they would refund. Fat chance that I would let that happen. They hung up twice on me. Called back from another phone, got another person and they finally gave me the number of Norton Billing Department 1-877-294-5265. Jackie was very pleasant and within 1 minute she stated that I would get a full refund for the renewal I did not request. She even sent me an email to confirm the cancellation and refund. I am going to report my credit card lost to Mastercard so Norton doesn't pull this stunt again in 12 months. I am not even sure if Norton Antivirus even flipping works. This morning I received an e-mail from Norton advising me they renewed my subscription at a cost of 40% more than last year. They decided for me without consulting me. I called them minutes after reading the e-mail. I was advised that Norton's can renew even when I didn't have AUTOMATIC RENEWAL in my setting and no credit cards information listed as they charged me using the credit card they had used before. Corrective actions have been taken. Cancelling is still on the table. MY CAVEAT: beware, THEIR NEW POLICIES ARE NOT IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CUSTOMER.

It is impossible to correct the email as the Norton site takes you round in circles. Like many of these so called helpful sites there is no address or direct email link. In other words they make it as difficult as possible to leave. I will have to write to them but have now missed the 60 day notice they require which in itself is excessive.

Today they come online and tell me I have "already" expired and no longer have protection!! Then I start getting all these pop ups out of nowhere and I am booted off; with a message saying, "Let us fix it!!" I am suppose to have protection yet I am still hacked and my information taken! What am I being protected from??? It cost over $169 to renew and it is too high for the lack of protection I have!

Called customer support and they said they could not reactivate her security and that she would have to pay for an already paid for seat. It was SO big of them to say that we had a choice of flying her back to the US to reinstate it or they would give us a 25 percent discount on product we already paid for. When I looked at the bill I was in shock! The auto payment was double the price and somehow they got a credit card number that I only used once and that was on the bill and right then I wonder how safe I really was? I sent a comment to Norton and ask how did this happen and they never did respond so at that point I had to part ways.

3 years ago I purchased 3 sets of 3 licenses for a total of 9 licenses for Norton utilities. I installed this product in my laptop which was a great working computer. I wanted to get rid of duplicates and told this was the perfect program. 10 minutes after installing and doing the first thing this software does I believe goes through the registry and clears out things you don't need. The next 2 weeks were spent getting the runaround from their tech support with excuses so ridiculous I will save for more public display. That's the problem with LifeLock’s methods at Norton. They don't question you to try to help. They question you to try and get out of helping you. It'd actually insult to hear all the ridiculous things they ask. I was told I would be refunded for this software that destroyed my computer. After a dozen phone calls getting hung up on and told the dumbest reasons they were not paying each time worst then the other.

I actually wanted to stay away from Norton for their horrible service nowadays. A month ago I looked online and purchase new Norton which was actually a lot less than what they had for renewal on my account. This week Google Drive was showing lots of duplicates. I thought maybe their utility is better 3 years later. Again I download 1 license. This is the computer I had built after they destroyed my last computers. Solid core hard drive. All the good stuff. 10 minutes after downloading these utilities again my computer is crashing and cannot open anything. Pissed this time I get a tech on the phone. He remotely got in my computer said he fixed it and will get me my refund. Funny my refund life lock left me hanging with a $41K identity theft and never once tried to help. All they did is asking me unrelated questions to try and not help. This last rep surprisingly never removed his damaging software and never fixed anything shocking.

Now this company has rendered my $2000 COMPUTER USELESS with their fraudulent software and service. The best is today's excuse is they do not have a tech that can help with a 3 year old program. All he can do is making sure I get the refund they jerked me around on to begin with. I said so last week, "Your tech got on my computers to try and fix the second computer your software destroyed but today the only thing you can do is lie to me again and tell me you will refund this destroying software that cost me over $3k in computers now. Why don't you tell all your clients to ** off the first call and save us all the ** later." Norton is a lie with the worst excuses I've heard from so many techs without any results other than destroyed computers.

Even after buying a full year's subscription, the ads for Norton's products didn't stop. You can disable them manually, but then still you get the occasional reminder to install their other products such as Internet Security, that I don't even want! And then in the final month of the subscription, I got a reminder EVERY DAY to renew it on every single device and there is no way to disable it. Never buying this again and I am very sorry that I ever spent my money on a subscription.

My subscription automatically renewed early last October 2019; there are approximately nine months left on that subscription. My call to Norton customer service reveals their willingness to keep my money for the remainder of my subscription rather than refund a prorated amount.

Norton says they are afraid I will continue to use the product without paying for it if they give me a refund and implies that they cannot know if I am using the program. However, they lie about the fact that they indeed can monitor my use on their computers. During this call, they contradicted themselves by telling me that their computers show I used the service three days ago when I was deleting Norton Antivirus from my system. It's your call, but I recommend keeping your money for a more reputable provider.

This not my understanding of an auto renewal, in my world an auto renewal should cost the same, and any additional costs should be requested. If your intent is honest then please do respond to me at my e-mail address given to 'consumeraffairs' - if this turns out to be a rectifying response then I shall make an updated post stating just that. Original Review: Just finished reading some of the reviews and responses. Any responses from Norton are from a cut and paste by "Raj" who initially wants to know:

    'I hope you’re doing well.'
'I hope this message finds you well.'

    'I hope you’re doing well.

    Followed by:

'Reply back to our private message at your convenience.'
'Could you check your private message at your convenience and get back to us.'
'Please reply back to our private message at your convenience.'
'I am following up to see if you still need any help with this issue.'
'Could you check your private message at your convenience and get back to us.'

'Please reply back to our private message at your convenience.'

This person I very much doubt can speak English and has been told to cut and paste these sentences which I am sure he has no idea of what they mean. I too am having a $137.49 issue with auto renew from an initial purchase of $57.49. How should I respond to: "I hope you are doing well', 'could you check your private message at your convenience', etc., etc. Has anyone followed up to see if these people are doing well after the fraud that has been wreaked upon them. I believe Symantec is owned by Microsoft and after Windows 10 we must learn how these people think these products should work. We must adapt and learn to think like these people so these products might work in our world. Cynical realist...

I purchased Norton Premium with Backup from Costco years ago and renewed the service for several years. Last year my laptop was infected and needed to be rebuilt. This month November 2019 my PC became infected and the only software that could remove the malware was from ESET. The computer technicians reported they see Norton failures all the time. When I spoke with Norton they refused to refund my money stating that Norton protects computers from all viruses/malware including the "Remote Access Trojan" malware (which is a lie) but that because I had purchased the original software from a third party like Costco they were unable to guarantee the product when purchased by a third party.

The woman stated that all the people she spoke with whose computers had been infected had purchased Norton from a third party. She then tried to sell me another Norton product directly from the company. She stated that the software I purchased from Costco was probably intercepted and that I probably downloaded an infected Norton software. This is absolutely absurd. If you have a Costco membership (or purchased it from a third party) and you purchased Norton and Norton failed to protect your computers, be sure to write to these third parties to let them know that Norton does NOT guarantee their products if sold by a third party. This is absolutely ridiculous.

As he was getting into a lengthy explanation that sounded like a script he was reading I received an email that they had received my renewal payment. In my inbox not my junk mail.

I stopped him and explained to him that what he was saying was not true and further Norton Security misrepresented themselves by not stating on the billing account that a renewal charge of more than $5.99 was going to be charged. I requested a refund and he did so but it could take 5 to 45 business days. I am not sure how Norton Security is going to retain customers if they continue to be fraudulent in their practice. After two Exhausting phone calls NORTON REFUSED TO HONOR THE EMAIL THEY SENT AS CONFIRMATION as to when my protection would expire. Needless to say I will no longer be a NORTON Subscriber! I have purchased protection with another provider. Good Riddance Norton, you took my money and Failed to honor your confirmation.

I have been a Norton customer ever since the inception of the company and the latest version of Internet Security is the worse I've ever seen. Upon Startup, it locks up my machine on disk space (windows 8.1, core i5) for almost an hour as it does its thing. I guess that their new strategy for protecting the machine from threats is to make your machine unusable, very creative! Norton customer service recommended that I uninstall it which is fine by me as I've now gone to the website and turned off the automatic renewal and am now researching other software suppliers. Perhaps if they spent more money actually debugging their software other than on celebrity endorsements, their software would work to standard.

Norton is now forcing its users to install the Internet Security Browsing extension. Since the last update it has a permanent red Browser at Risk warning that won't go away unless the user installs the browser extension. It has a "fix" button that doesn't actually do anything and it has an "ignore" option that doesn't work either. This is **. I never wanted this extension as I have no intention of allowing Norton keep track of my browsing and banking information. Norton has crossed the line. There are so many antiviruses out there now that are actually better than Norton and less intrusive. It was just a matter of being used to it. NORTON HAS LOST ITS LUSTER.

Do not purchase Norton. If you want to cancel you WILL NOT GET YOUR MONEY BACK. They have auto renewal which I used. 66 days into my subscription, I wanted to cancel because I found something else that works just as well and costs less. Too bad for me, I didn't find this other option 6 days ago and have time to cancel Norton then. They were more than willing to cancel Norton for me but KEEP MY MONEY. They said I only have 60 days to cancel my subscription. I should have the entire 365 days to cancel my subscription. They tried to first say I received the renewal email, etc. and use that as an excuse. Here's the thing, I found something else I wanted to go with instead, wanted to cancel my subscription and get a refund for the remaining time I had left which is a reasonable request. They will not do it under any circumstances because it is "their policy not to give refunds after 60 days".

So basically they have my money and will not give good customer service and do the right thing and let me have my money back. They are "more than happy" to cancel my subscription though. I would be happy to get free money too! Who wouldn't! So very frustrated with them. If you're thinking about going with Norton, DON'T. They are dishonest and deceitful and will keep your money if you don't fit within their 60-day refund policy. If only I would've realized this 6 days ago, I wouldn't be stuck with them now. I cannot wait for my remaining subscription to be finished. I will never use Norton ever again.

After having been your loyal customer since at least 2009 (yes, at least 10 years), out of nowhere the company started FORCING advertisement without consent. It is bad enough Microsoft and others are doing this, but this is a Computer Virus, PC and Cyber Security, protection and your firewall. Which is supposed to be protecting you from such abuse... And they use their installation to abuse your trust and push ads.

For those 10 years, just like many other customers, I continued to come back to them, because I liked the product and trusted it to protect me. Now, your company is the main violator in my PC, forcing advertisement via every means possible, SPAMMING via emails. FORCING Pop-Ups via the Windows taskbar, and even through the browsers if we opted not to install the browser protection, or if we chose not to use the password product, etc. That is an abuse of your clients. And for the first time in 10 years, I intend to find some other provider I can trust. And I hope many other clients take the step to demonstrate this is not acceptable. Shame on you!

Two years ago I purchased a one year subscription for Norton Home Security. I went with one of their competitors. I called as well as sent an E-mail to cancel their home security service. This was for the period Oct. 2017 to Oct 2018. One year later, Norton fraudulently bills me. I receive a statement from them "ONE YEAR AFTER I CANCELLED THEIR SERVICE", billing me for another year! This is outright fraud.

They are in a conspiracy to work the Internet for millions! This is how it works: Google gives Norton exclusive right to place a 'marker' on websites searched in Google Chrome. The marker is either a question mark or a green symbol. Naturally, persons searching will go for the green symbols. If your website has a question mark you will want a green symbol which you can get here: safeweb.norton.com.

If you don't have a Norton account, you will need to create one if you want to proceed getting your green symbol. This is where they gotcha. The next day you will be getting attractive solicitations of 50% off to subscribe. A person would probably think; if I don't subscribe I may not get the green symbol - and you probably won't! I know a person who has a website and applied for the green symbol but didn't subscribe as he already had computer protection from another company. It has been over two months now and he still hasn't got the green symbol! So he had better subscribe to Norton if he wants one.

That is the Norton Plan to get every website in Google search subscribed. Imagine the millions and millions of dollars they will make! If you have a green symbol on your website now you had better renew your subscription when it is due. Otherwise, you will probably get a notice that Norton can't guarantee your website is still safe and you will be back to a 'question mark'. So Norton will keep racking in millions and millions of dollars and probably be giving Google a nice cut for letting them do this.

What can you do? You can notify your senators and congressperson about getting a law to the effect that, "No person or company shall place any marker on another person or company website and any marker on there now shall be removed". It would also be advisable to begin Anti-Trust action on Google for allowing this to happen as they have too much power on the Internet.

Needed help installing Norton Security, was charged extra $89.99 for help after already paying for security for 3 devices. Then it was installed with a different email which wasn't me and cannot change it after waiting over 50 minutes on hold for help. Then they resell the same product to me again. No phone numbers or email addresses that were provided on the internet worked.
