I'm on the line with Norton now. It's hour 6. These guys are the definition of inept. They're unable to make their single-sign on work. Viewing subscriptions doesn't provide a view for the Norton subscriptions. There's not a way to manage/add/delete subscriptions and worse, they charged me for 5 years on a dead account that had an expired credit card. The system has logged me out 3 times while in active chats with the "service" which operates at sloth speed.

Absolutely impossible to cancel the automatic subscription renewal. Norton gives directions that do not have the options they give and cannot be followed. "Go to A", but there is no A! Norton is the scam - they just want to start charging you, selling you more and more, keep charging you, make it too hard (or impossible) to cancel, and hope you'll go away (but keep you paying because it's easier than fighting them).

I am so disappointed with Norton's customer service. It has been over a month that I have been waiting for a call back on something as basic as getting into my account. I changed my phone number and the authentication code that it sends to my old number I am unable to access. I called the customer service number 800-745-6034 many times and have very long hold times. Once I was able to speak with a representative, it was difficult to have a dialogue due to the thick accent. This is one of the worst customer services business' I have ever experienced and they seem to not care! Very disappointed.

Beware of what you WILL NOT get with Norton. I have purchased coverage from Norton off and on for years. Never had a problem until recently. I have off and on now had large ad blocks appear on my screen making reading anything very very difficult, if not impossible. I have let them know, and so far no solution. An example, a pop ad has appeared today, but now is suddenly gone! I am sure it will return as it has for the past week or so!!

I've used Norton since about 2003 now. I recently bought a renewal 2 months early to keep my AV running. I was told by a customer service rep the new sub would automatically start when the old one ran out. THAT never happened! I called customer service which was some scam call center in India. They couldn't or wouldn't fix the issue. I asked for a refund and they said they don't do refunds after 60 days but they also refused to activate the product I bought. Several times they tried to gain access to my PC via remote control to fix the issue. I refused access and in the end hung up. They clearly employed people in India who are also connected to scammers attempting to steal personal banking information using the company as a cover.

Also, Norton said I purchased a 360 Deluxe program when I already had one on file that would not expire for almost a year. I would not do this if I had one on file already which I knew I had one by examine my apps in Google. Reported this as a disputed charge on my credit card.

I contacted them and because the credit card that was used was no longer active they said I would receive a check in 6 weeks. Well 8 weeks passed and no check so I contacted them again. Updated on 12/19/2025: It's been one full month now and Norton has not fixed my printer driver that was deleted. I did receive a phone call, but not sure why they even reached out. I was told that the issue had to be resolved by Level 3. The person who called me was Level 2. In addition, I see there is a huge data breach with Norton. This is such an unfortunate situation. Stay away from them. They have not refunded me for the period November-April 2026. Sharon
Original review: Norton did a scan on my drivers and the computer went down. I called and it took several days for them to repair. I was given the excuse that they needed to escalate to another level. I noticed when they were going through motions of fixing, they deleted my printer driver. Therefore, I wasn't able to scan or print certain documents. I called them several times and spoke to several people, but was told they needed to escalate to level 3. I requested a Manager and told him it was probably an easy fix, and he said then why don't I fix it. I waited another 5 days to no avail. So I canceled Norton. I had another 4 months left with Norton and they said they don't return money anymore. Do you realize they could be making $$$ on the consumer by refusing to return money owed them?

We have had Norton for quite a few years. To the Norton's credit, we haven't had one virus on our computers. Last year, I noticed a charge on my credit card in Norton's name for $500.00 for annual renewal. I was astounded! I called Norton, the extras were peeled off and I was refunded. What had happened is that I had signed up for several additional services over the course of the year and had not cancelled them. That part is my fault. However, these services are not requested. They come in the form of pop-ups, implying that I have some creepy problem on my computer and a new program is necessary to maintain computer function. Then, of course, there is no reminder offered when time arrives to pay/cancel and the additional services with accompanying costs accumulate. So, if you are considering using Norton for their anti-virus vigilance, keep that in mind.
On another point, I like to play minute games on my computer. A pop-up for McAfee's anti-virus service has been frequently making an appearance while I'm playing. Norton, of course, shuts down their competition immediately (and the whole page, as well) as though it is a virus. I am close to cancelling my Norton subscription. I am wondering if the improved computer firewalls could do as good a job as Norton, for free.

I purchased an MSI computer around a year ago that had a free 3-month subscription to Norton 360 for gamers, and Norton Security. During those 3 months, I failed to find any use for either of these programs whatsoever. I come to find out that these apps are acting more as malware than any other app I have on here. From random pop-ups that literally force you out of a program, to a now completely broken pop-up that I can't even close this very moment.
I've done everything in my power to uninstall this app, even removing any trace of it from my files, yet it is still here. I don't even have access to the settings in the actual Norton program, as it won't let me interact with anything unless I have a subscription. The sheer awe I feel in how this app, that is supposed to act as an anti-virus/malware program, actually turning out to be more of a problem than anything else is shocking. I would only recommend this app to horrible people, in hopes of them suffering from the incomprehensible stupidity that this app contains.

For many, many years I have been buying the version 360 DELUXE because, several years ago, I had a problem with my laptop running WINDOWS XP: The light went off in the middle of a DEFRAG session and I could not start it anymore. So I called Norton and, since the “technician” on board could not fix the problem, he promised that his Manager would call me the next day, which he did.
That manager took control of my laptop (all the way from India, I believe), spent many, many hours with me trying to restart it and he succeeded at the end of the day: he fixed it all. That was December 24, 2011, which should be noted! I immediately wrote a very positive review of it in Amazon, praising their expertise and their honesty, which is now obsolete, unfortunately. I will see if I can modify it with the latest news… THEREFORE, since that day, I thought, naively, that Norton was still offering the same excellent service and, ever since, I kept buying Norton 360 Deluxe year after year. BIG MISTAKE!
Today, November 13, 2025, I called Norton because I tried to download the last Windows updates several times and they always failed. So I logically called Norton But, unlike their old excellent service, they wanted to ransom me with an extra $19 to solve this minor problem, compared to the many hours that their manager had spent with me on December 24, 2011 to fix my laptop for free!!! Now, they want more money, always more!!! They will never have enough!!! Therefore, my advice to you is: why pay more for a norton 360 deluxe, which is supposed to “fix” your laptop but which will not give you any extra service than the cheapest, simplest antivirus???

I have not used nor downloaded Norton software since 2022. I found out today that the firm was "auto-renewing" me for years without my authorization to do so. They agreed to refund me for the most recent ripoff they performed on me, but are insisting they cannot refund for the past 3 years when I did not download, nor use their software.
Do not trust this company. Norton is over-priced and have very unethical business policies. When I called them they admitted that I had not authorized the charges and was "placed" in auto-renewal. They also informed me that I had not even downloaded their software since 2022. Yet they will not refund me for the years 2022-25. This is a very bad company to do business with. Avoid them at all costs and seek lawyers to get class action cases filed against them. That is the way to get a company like this one to act ethically.

Norton is not HIPAA compliant and is not keeping up with security, too many pop ups on the computers also trying to entice you to buy another one of their products. It's just a sales pitch - not true antivirus/malware software. I attempted to cancel my subscription today, but they refused to give me a pro-rated refund because it is beyond the allotted time frame for a refund - which is supposedly 60-days after renewal or initial purchase. I feel trapped into paying for something that is basically useless and worthless, at best.

I am not, and have never been, a Norton customer. I did not sign up for any subscription, and I do not have an account with Norton. Nevertheless, two charges were made against my card. When I contacted Norton’s customer service, I spent more than two hours on the phone without resolution. Their representatives were unable to locate me in their system, unable to cancel the supposed subscription, and unable to reverse the charges.
This left me in a position where the only available option was to report the transactions as fraud to my credit card company. As a result, I am being forced to issue a new card and update all my legitimate business subscriptions and automatic payments, which has caused unnecessary disruption and financial risk. I consider these to be fraudulent “ghost charges” and an example of abusive and irresponsible business practices. A major corporation should not be billing individuals who are not customers, then making it impossible to reverse or cancel such charges. I respectfully request that Consumer Affairs investigate Norton’s billing practices to prevent other consumers from experiencing the same hardship.

This company practices a form of usury in their business practices; they are unaccommodating, to say the least. Be very careful when signing up with long auto-renew subscriptions. You can't get out, unless you pay them more, even if you contact your bank. And they have 6–10-year subscriptions. Also, their add-ons are useless and very pricey.

We are so fed up with Norton. We have two charges on our credit card for Norton LifeLock which we canceled, and we have a case number for the one, and we were able to remove the auto renewal from the other one, but they still charged our credit card so we opened a dispute with the card company. Also, we do not like the fact that Norton insists on keeping our credit card on file until the subscription runs out. This is not right!!!

Norton kept sending me a notice that they wanted me to update my credit card in order to renew my Norton 360. I signed in but could not find the price for renewal. I could find in several places where they said they would send me an email with the renewal cost before charging my card. This would give me a chance to act if they were overcharging me.. An hour after updating my card they charged it $74.89 (over 3X what they charge a first year customer) but I never got an email. In my experience Norton lacks integrity and uses shady business practices.

So on Friday 9/12/25 Norton VPN cancelled my account. There was no notice. No email, I just couldn't get logged in. I contacted support and after a long time, they came back and told me that my account had been cancelled because I used it too much. I can understand that but a warning of some sort was not given. I wasn't asked to throttle back or asked for more money. I was just dropped. I should get a partial refund, but no one has contacted me. This is pretty lame way to do business and unprofessional way to treat a customer of multiple years.

As I read the reviews, I realized that I am not alone regarding the horrific experiences I'm having with my Norton 360 product. I upgraded and purchased a new PC 2 months ago. I uninstalled Norton from my old PC and installed in on my new PC and a new Nook notebook. In less than a month, I started getting notifications about all the so call issues with my new PC and were trying to sell me numerous add-ons. I ignored them. After a little over a month, my VPN began to continuously disconnect, then uploading simple sites became tediously slow. I am constantly having to restart my PC to get my gaming apps to open.
Now tonight Norton is telling me that I'm being tracked, and my information may be visible to several named trackers even though I access the internet via Norton's private browser on all my devices. I have had this problem continuously with Norton 360 on Microsoft Windows. There doesn't appear to be a way to get it corrected. Just so you know, I own the Norton Lifelock Ultimate plus Norton 360 combination, for which I pay over $500 per year. The Norton 360 products I license are Norton 360, Norton Utilities Ultimate and Norton Driver Updater, in addition to LifeLock Ultimate. Every day, I get a popup on all of my Windows PC screens telling me that I have issues and that I can click on "Continue" to fix them. See the "Screen 1" attachment. Note that I have attached four screen grabs to illustrate the entire problem. When I do so, the window shown in "Screen 2" pops up. It tells me, at a high level, what my machine's issues are and that, if I hit Continue, those issues will be fixed.
So, when I hit Continue, I receive what's in "Screen 3". It's telling me that if I want to fix the issues, I need to buy Norton Utilities Ultimate -- for which I already own a license. But I'd have to pay $47.53 to buy what I already own. If I hit Continue, I get what's in "Screen 4", an actual purchase screen. What you can also see behind the Norton Utilities Ultimate purchase window is the actual Norton Utilities Ultimate window, which I have already licensed and have for years.
Note that whatever supposedly needed cleaning did not need cleaning. I have also uploaded the screen capture of "Screen 5", which shows that the 53 gigabytes of "system junk" was bogus. The last time Norton Utilities Ultimate was run, only 577 megabytes of "system junk" was cleaned. In addition to being a daily annoyance to me, I am concerned that people less technical than I am and who already license Norton Utilities Ultimate might end up buying additional licenses that they don't need.

Original Review: June 8, 2025
3 chats with support and 2 phone calls and they still refuse to instruct me on how to uninstall Norton. My Norton was set up with a password protection so that it couldn't let someone access it and mess up firewall settings...etc... After FINALLY getting it through their head that I am NOT trying to change my password for online access, they advised me to use the "Removal Tool" after I wouldn't let them connect remotely to my computer due to client protected files in which I could be sued if something happened.
So after 5 attempts of trying to use the tool in normal mode and safe mode, it still insisted on a password that was created to allow access to the software settings, thus failing to allow uninstalling. I requested to, "PLEASE just tell me what you were going to do remotely and I will follow along." NOPE, not happening!!!! Here is the thing!!! If Norton sees that your subscription needs renewing, they won't help you until you renew it. That's how they hold you ransom to staying with them. You can't uninstall it if you forget the password because they want you to reinstall it so as to allow you to get back on Norton and reset the password, which is where you have to renew your subscription. Very very ignorant and a scamming way to make you buy Norton. Thank you for nothing Norton.... BUYER BEWARE!!!!

DO NOT USE NORTON!! Hello, my family has been using Norton since the 2006. Back when it was actually good at its job. Every useful item (such as scrubbing your info from the web or using their private browser) costs extra money. Why isn't the private browser part and parcel with me using your service? I thought your whole point was to keep my network safe and secure?
And the VPN, I had to manually turn the stupid thing on even when the area was primed for the VPN to work. There were literal times Norton would activate the kill switch in a VPN-viable area, just because it didn't want to take the extra time to turn it on automatically. And why are there places where the VPN won't work? Doesn't that negate its whole purpose. At the time of seeking a refund, my bill was $309. $309 for a five device plan for two people over one year. That is extortion. I can get that coverage for two years at $150 for Surfshark WITH all the amenities that Norton keeps out of reach for a fee.

Subject: Ongoing Disappointment with Overmarketing and Product Performance. To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to express my ongoing frustration with the increasingly aggressive marketing tactics and complicated service structure surrounding your Norton products. I have been a loyal Norton customer since the 1980s and have had a long-standing trust in your virus protection. Unfortunately, in recent years, that trust is being tested.
Each time I run a system scan, I am inundated with alarming messages warning me of vulnerabilities—many of which appear to be tied to services I haven't purchased. These warnings feel more like scare tactics aimed at upselling than honest threat detection. It's disheartening to feel like a simple scan is being used as a sales opportunity rather than a tool to ensure my system’s security.
Moreover, your pricing structure has become incredibly frustrating. Each service—antivirus, VPN, identity protection, driver updates—expires at different times, making management needlessly complicated. Worse, renewal prices often spike to outrageous levels. And when I call to cancel or question the cost, I'm instantly offered a price cut of nearly two-thirds. If that lower price is fair, why is it not simply offered upfront? I also had a negative experience with your driver update service, which rendered my printer inoperable. It took an uninstall and reinstall to restore functionality. Meanwhile, my own device reports that my drivers are up to date, raising questions about the necessity and reliability of your driver-related offerings.
It’s becoming increasingly burdensome to use your software—either I submit to constant upgrade pressure or navigate an exhausting maze of sales pitches and warnings. After decades of loyalty, I expect better. Your focus should be on protecting users, not constantly upselling them. I urge you to reevaluate your customer experience priorities and return to the trusted, straightforward protection Norton once represented. Otherwise, you risk driving away long-term customers like myself who are tired of being treated like walking revenue targets instead of valued clients.
Sincerely,[Omitted for security purpose]

I was charged $112.46 on May 11, 2025 for a supposed “automatic renewal”. My subscription expired about a year ago and I never renewed it but Norton was still downloaded on my computer. Automatic renewal was turned off and the debit card I had on file expired in June of 2024 so it was unusable anyway. I haven’t been on my personal computer for at least 6 months until I got on it on 5/11/25 to download some pictures from my iPhone to my computer. That same night my Norton subscription was “automatically renewed” with my current debit card information that was stored on my iPhone. I tried calling the company 6 times today and they hung up on me every time I told them why I was calling. One representative even told me to “go ahead and file a complaint. There is nothing you can do to us because we are a trusted company and you’re still not going to get your money back.” He then hung up on me.
I never gave this company my current debit card information. They took money from my account using a debit card number that there is no way they could have, or should have, had access to. How did they get this information? Did they take it off of my iPhone when I was downloading my pictures? I’ve had to cancel my debit card and file a complaint with my bank in an attempt to try and get my money back. Norton customer service will not do anything but hang up on me when they hear my complaint. That in itself should say something about this company. Isn’t this company supposed to protect your personal data, not use it for their own purposes?

I got a subscription for Norton at Walmart it was the cheapest around.$29.98 it included everything. On Friday May 9th 2025 my bank card was charged $209.98. I never got a email letting me know it's renewing. I called Norton and oh my what a big mess, not to mention I spent hours on the phone with their call center in the Philippines. The first representative said, "Okay I will cancel your subscription and refund you $139.98." I said what? She said, "I am giving you a break on the subscription." I told her no I wanted the $209.98 back.
Then not even ten minutes later my bank fraud department called and said did you just make a charge for $139.98, I said no. So my bank wanted to shut my card down. I said then I would not be able to do anything over the weekend and I needed food and gas for my car. So I called the call center for the second time waiting and waiting so the representative said, "Okay we will refund the full amount," and cancel my subscription. I told her the last representative tried to take another $139.98 from my bank. She said, "Don't worry I will fix this."
Well today I got a refund of $70.00 from Norton so I called the call center once again and this representative said, "I can't give you a refund for the remaining amount of $139.98. You have to go to the email that I am sending you and fill out the form and we will mail you a check in 6 to 8 weeks." I said no I want my money now. She said, "I promise you will get your check in 6 to 8 weeks." I said, "Ya'll can't be trusted so no I'm calling my bank." I called and had my card shut off and did a dispute with my bank. Do not trust these people for a subscription that was $29,98, they charged me $209.98 and tried to take another $139.98 in one day. Run, I will never ever use Norton products ever again. The economy is rough right now - I get it....it doesn't mean that ANY antivirus solution should be advertising its services every...time...I turn on my machine. It is wholly obnoxious and unbelievable. Each time I turn on my PC, I'm notified via a BIG window in my lower-right hand that Norton's web browser is available. I've been using Norton for years; I KNOW the browser is available. I don't WANT to use it, but I'm getting consistent notifications about it. When I reached my breaking point, I reached out to customer service, and they said there's nothing they can do about it. Canceled my subscription. Giving Bitdefender a go.

Busy at work and didn't attend to as I should, and I didn't catch it on the credit card until six months later. Called Norton to cancel, when you do that, it is not as simple as just canceling, you have to go through the sales techniques to try to sell you something else. When we finally got it canceled, it became obvious the subscription would run another year and half for a computer that is dead. It was my fault I didn't catch sooner, but I question the idea of Norton trying to sell me more services for current equipment, when they have no plans for refunding ANY of the unused service. No more Norton for me.

I purchased Norton because they were offering the first year for $39.99. After I discovered that NORTON gave a false positive on 3 important apps and quarantined them, I knew their software had to be uninstalled. Because of their crap software, I almost lost them. Additionally, when I was navigating their software when I had it installed, every time I clicked on something, a pop-up appeared wanting me to purchase something I did not want. A used car salesman is not as pushy as NORTON. Now, finding a way to cancel my subscription via the website was a challenge. When I finally found a way to chat with a human being, I immediately canceled my subscription and uninstalled their piece of garbage from both my PC and my phone.
Both the purchase and cancellation occurred within 15 minutes. There are many FREE virus, malware, and dark web protection apps that do a much better job at protecting you than NORTON. NORTON is all about lining their pockets by pushing additional products. Nothing more. I will NEVER consider using their software again, and I will urge my friends and family to look for a more reputable company.

I had a disappointing experience with Norton/Lifelock. My mother had automatic billing setup with this company. My Mom had a stroke and was unable to manage her affairs and I took over her financial obligations. I followed all the online direction of the Norton customer service representatives for 5 months in an attempt to receive a refund to the account and cancel her subscription/membership. This is what I learned through this experience:
2) Turning off the automatic billing feature was only accomplished by talking to their IT Dept. and having protected devices removed from their network.
3) Removing billing information was another conversation with their financial dept. to accomplish.
4) This took many months to figure out and was very exhausting. I received no refund from them and they tried to get me to take over her account. Unbelievable, then they had someone else's personal data.
In conclusion doing business in our new modern world is a very frustrating experience and by then you exceed the time limit and receive no REFUND. I grew up when this experience to a phone call and you could talk with a real person to resolve. Nowadays companies hide behind technology and they are able not to provide adequate customer service.

I have been a customer of Norton’s VPN for over 15 years and had never needed customer support until 3, 31, 2025. Switched my internet from Xfinity to T-Mobile Wi-Fi. Norton didn't seem to want to play well with T-Mobile and kept locking me out of things like my Gmail and Bank sites. The first lady that tried to help me did try hard but seemed new at this and after about 45 minutes she said she would run it up the ladder and "call me back tomorrow between 1 & 2 pm". She never called back but I did get a case number which came in handy with the next call. His name was Paul and he was happy we had the case number and looked into it, Paul was the most knowledgeable Norton Tech I talked to and spent 2-3 hours uninstalling Norton and re installing it and got on my computer remotely and made sure everything was by the book.
Finally he said he would run it up the ladder and they would call me back tomorrow and fix my problem. Guess what – yep they never call us back again! We called back after 24 hours and talked to Sid this time. After a bunch of questions and the case number again we were put on hold a few times and another 30 or so minutes and he said they would call me back in 24 hours and resolve this!
Needless to say we waited for 24 hours and called them back again but this time to cancel my subscription and ask for my money back. The young lady’s name was Jas and she kept me on the phone for about 30 minutes asking question after question so that they could allegedly improve their customer service. She then proceed to tell me that I was out side of the “refund period”. Guess all I want to say is Norton’s customer service is highly over rated as I found out checking their ratings on Google. I didn’t get their product fixed or an apology and I doubt a refund for being their loyal customer for 15 some years! By the way, their customer support is not in USA and they would tell me where they were located. In my opinion there must be better VPNs available!

DO NOT BUY THIS PROGRAM!!!! Once you take the deal of paying a lower cost to start, you are trapped with a system that does not work. I paid for the year and to have other computer users in my family to have the opportunity to have the "so-called protection." When husband tried, his computer system started to mess up. He was able to uninstall what little he tried to install. We have new computers and laptops. Hp. Every time I went to look up anything on my computer, Norton took over. It also removed some things that I had that were not viruses, but power point work, etc.
I called to cancel, and the agent tried to sell me something else. You cannot just go in and uninstall Norton. You have to download their program that is a reinstall and remove program to uninstall. Then they have a N360 back up folder on my PC, that I have tried several times to delete. It keeps saying you need administrator permission. I am the administrator. It's crap. They want to stay in your laptop or computer. Yes, I got my $49.99 back, which would go up to over $100 plus once it was time to renew. I want this backup which is the real virus out of my system. I have used the same software with Bitdefender and Webroot, and have never had such security software issues with my business software except through Norton, and never had to place them on a special list so they wouldn't be targeted.
I don't have time to begin to list the various software I have been using over the years for my business on their avoid threat list. After they constantly keep their scan for threats on the same software I use daily and it all comes back safe, and to have it with a scan for threats up for 24/7, is too much. They are a threat. I have to go back to Bitdefender security or another software for my business that does not act as a threat. I purchased Norton 360 Deluxe for 5 devices. After installing on the first, none of my home wireless network printers will work. I reviewed things published on the web for 1-2hrs and could find nothing that helped. After spending a good deal of time researching how to contact tech support I did so and wasted two hours with a staffer that clearly was not qualified to offer me any support. He escalated to level 2, they randomly called me twice when I was busy. The second time I discussed and they agreed to schedule a third call with me which they abandoned. I contacted the support line again to which they wanted to reschedule yet another time in coming days. I have worked on this for hours over course of 10 days. This is ridiculous. Suggest you do NOT purchase this product, Norton has NO support ability. I could not be any more frustrated with this once Premier company. I will uninstall and go with an alternate provider.

I followed instructions from Norton support but AI is just as annoying. I finally uninstalled Norton to allow applications to run that had been disabled. Neither the chat nor the actual live person were able to help. I continue to receive pop-ups saying my computer has been hacked, which is the problem I was trying to solve before I wasted money on Norton.

Norton never contacted me after giving Norton my information and no resolution has been reached by their poor tech support that doesn't contact me. Can't allow trusted devices thru the firewall and tries to block trusted websites as unsafe websites. Old version of Norton small business ran flawlessly and the new version is a major nightmare to use.
Original review: Terrible experience with Norton's new version of security software. Works poorly and tech support hasn't helped and it's been over 3 weeks of no support from norton. Had Norton for years for all of my family's devices but we will not be renewing once our current subscription expires. The chief complaint is that there are too many popups, and quite frankly there should only be alerts when something is wrong or there has not been a scan done recently. Norton chose to make their program send popups to the desktop, that minimize games if you are playing btw, every day. Sometimes multiple times an hour. The program that I pay good money for is nothing more than scareware now that is constantly putting out what are essentially advertisements on my desktop. I don't pay money to grant Norton permission to advertise to me, and won't be paying for that kind of treatment in the future.

1. Customer support. May be good at quick help for not technical customers, but appeared very disappointing for customers with technical background. Every time the first suggested option is to remote-in to my PC, even if it takes a quick explanation of a couple of menu navigation steps. I tried to report a flaw in details 4 times, as a favor to Norton team - with no success.
2. Flaws. There is a flaw in Norton (standard) Windows App. I tried to report it to customer support 4 times, with no result. When WiFi is temporary disconnected and VPN is turned off - After a while Norton VPN User Control gets disabled at "VPN stopped working" status. At this point there is NO way to Turn ON VPN, even when WiFi is connected again. The ONLY option is to reboot PC. This is so inconvenient that if this issue is not fixed - I would have to request the refund and will switch to another service provider. Here is where Norton software has flaws which cause this issue:
- Norton VPN should not attempt to connect when it is turned off by VPN UI Slide Control and when all settings related to re-connect VPN are turned off.- When WiFi, after being disconnected for a while, is turned on - VPN UI Slide Control remains in OFF status, but at the attempt to turn VPN ON using VPN UI Slide Control - this control becomes disabled with the status "VPN stopped working". This makes it impossible to turn VPN ON, which jeopardizes the WiFi connection without VPN.
- VPN UI Slide Control should not be disabled, so customer can turn VPN ON when WiFi is connected. Even if Norton software by mistake attempts to re-connect (despite the settings) - enabled VPN UI Slide Control should assure VPN reconnection.
3. There is no way to prevent my code from uploading to Norton. I am a developer with 40 years of experience. I do NOT want to share my own EXE with "Norton Lab for further investigation".

I had Norton 360 for 5 yrs +. On Feb 3, 2025 Norton did a “live update of their software”. Immediately the Norton program blocked my internet access wifi to my entire house. I worked on it 3 1/2 hours trying to remedy the problem. I contacted them on a friend's phone (since I had no internet access) and after telling them the problem, they wanted me to give them remote access to my computer. Excuse me but how are you going to do that when your program has blocked all access? We can’t watch TV, we can’t turn lights on, can’t open the garage door, our cameras are down, etc. The Norton tech then stopped responding, 30 minutes, I waited. Tried them again 1 hour later.
Once again, they wanted remote access. I said sure, so they told me to open the link they sent me on my computer. Again, I had to tell them no internet because your program says it's an unidentified wifi and internet access is blocked. Same result, they quit responding. So I deleted Norton and internet was restored, I got Bit Defender. Contacted Norton and they denied a refund, “Sucker”. They said and hung up on me.

To fix these issues requires another purchase when I am already spending close to $250 year on Norton 360 and Norton Utilities. 360 should include anti-tracking and driver update tools as nearly all of their competitors do this. When I added anti-tracking software, it blocked my own webmail (email). So, I had to deinstall it. Also, for some reason, my system slows to a crawl on weekends even though it is heavily password protected. I've been with these guys for 18+ years. Now, I am going shopping for a replacement. Does anyone have a good recommendation for an American-made product? I am so tired of Norton's scare tactics!

Norton is a pyramid scheme designed to hook you into program after program after program. They create this maze of issues that they can fix with just one more item from their portfolio. They also love to run never ending "checks" primarily of all websites and web usage making it possible for them to locate even more "eh might be a problem, hasn't been, probably won't be, but just in case spend another $*** on what we have that could help the non-problem". And that constant multi-level running of various inquiries is going to stop the system you're using from being useful. Your computer becomes a paperweight. And it stays a paperweight. Norton is an adware that you pay to put onto your computer. The virus detection is very basic and flawed, it has no in-depth understanding of viruses and flag anything and everything that is remotely non-secure. It is honestly just adware that you pay for, more often than not I get popups promoting new Norton products that have 0 use to me. Typically these pop ups lag my entire computer and sometimes force me to restart the entire machine as the ads freeze my machines. This is a clear PCI compliance violation. NO REFUND. 60 day trial starts before the software is activated. What kind of trial period is that? Do NOT buy. You can't get rid of it.

Norton keeps sending reminders to add more features at an extra cost, which is becoming annoying. Their services are expensive, and they try to lure you into buying more services, which makes the yearly renewal add up and become untenable.

Husband canceled his automatic renewal in 2020. They went ahead and reactivate it and charged for the next two years. So now he died and I canceled the credit card completely. Also cancel the automatic renewal. Tried to reach the company with no success. Was unable to sign in to his account. And, now they're trying to charge the closed credit card again. I never put any Norton antivirus on any of my devices and they are all fine. All of my deceased husband's electronics are absolutely useless and full of viruses. Every time He called to complain about the problems he was encountering They just sold him additional services and nothing ever got better.

Would not recommend Period!
2) Every single day it pops up advertising to upsell a new thing. Tell it don't show again, it is there again!
3) Constantly says out of date drivers, buy a product to fix this. A COMPLETE LIE. I check and drivers are up to date in control panel, using current best driver, Norton even lists driver and when checked it doesn't even exist.
4) Had to call support because of an issue, person barely speaks English, took forever. Then next day the same exact issue reoccurs. Nothing fixed after 4 plus hours of tech support!!!!
6) Use Norton safe search page, which is part of paid service. You are forced to have unwanted advertising!!!! So I pay and then force to have ads so Norton makes more money off of everyone who bought service?? BULL.
6b) Use norton safe search~ horrible accuracy, google is way better and google may spy on you, but isn't Norton??? Prefer duck duck go!
7) VPN~ a pure joke, slow, clunky garbage.

This company is manipulating people. This is daylight robbery. Please let me know if there are any active lawsuit cases. It seems there was one in 2012. I was charged on 11/23/24 for a renewal subscription that does not expire until 12/23/24. I have run into this problem previously with Norton but charging me for renewal a full month before it expires is totally unacceptable beside the escalated price also. I have cancelled my subscription and I am officially done with Norton forever. This is terrible customer service for any company to charge customers a full month ahead of renewal date. I expect a full refund immediately. I also agree with other comments regarding the constant pop-ups and scare techniques to try to make you buy more protection. Goodbye forever Norton.

Have faith in the virus protection, but in recent years, the costs are getting out of hand -- they keep wanting me to sign up for different services and they all expire at different times and then they want to renew then at astronomical prices. If I call they immediately cut the price to nearly a 3rd -- but I have to call. And when I just want to do a simple scan I get all kinds of dire warnings about stuff that I haven't paid for extra coverage on. And I tried the driver update and my printer stopped working - had to uninstall and reinstall. Or I check the drivers on my computer and it tells me they are all up to date. So Norton keeps trying to get me to buy a driver update program. It's becoming more of a burden to use the software and keep up or refuse all the marketing crap they keep sending. I've been a customer since the 1980s --

I had purchased a plan with Norton last year, it worked out fine, This year October 2024 I was told that my subscription would auto renew on November 11/24. I cancelled auto renew and purchased a new subscription. On November 11/24 my subscription was auto renewed even though I had cancelled the auto renew and my credit card was charged for my purchased subscription in October and now for the auto renewed amount I had cancelled. Sounds like a scam with Norton's on their part. And no one to contact. Buyer beware.

They've been hit with multiple class actions and even faced fines from the FTC for false advertising and failure to deliver on their promises. Despite charging for premium identity theft protection, LifeLock has been accused of delayed alerts and failing to safeguard sensitive customer information adequately.
I am taking action by filing complaints with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), the Georgia Inspector General, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). I’m also reaching out to national news outlets and law firms specializing in class actions to expose these ongoing issues. If I could go any lower than 1 I would. They are no longer the Norton of the past. I recently switched from Total AV to Norton 360 and Norton Utilities Ultimate. What a bad idea. From the moment I installed it, my computer started to crash. I would restart many times throughout the day thinking I had a software glitch or memory issues. I work with several Adobe products like InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, and all were lagging and "not responding" (hence the several restarts).
I upped my memory thinking that was the issue, but it turned out it had nothing to do with it. I spoke with a computer tech who immediately told me to uninstall it and stick to Windows Security, which in his words did everything all these other fad programs do and more. I run Windows 10 Pro and he stated that Windows Security is designed for Windows products. I don't need this extra garbage. I uninstalled everything Norton from my system and guess what, everything is running faster, smoother, and better.
Don't let companies like Norton take your hard-earned dollars for garbage that actually messes up your computer. You keep getting these ads that you need to ad this or that and by the end of it, you end up spending over $200 plus for software that is completely useless. Norton is by far the worst possible Antivirus, Malware, Spyware, etc., software you can get. Please don't waste your money. And what's even more funny, is that one website claims that the top 10 Antivirus softwares include Norton 360 at a whopping 9.8 out of 10 rating, but here it shows the truth at 1 out of 5. Don't trust what these other ranking say because it's obviously biased information from the good people at Norton. Big waste of time and money. Sorry for the rant, but I am completely disgusted with this software.

When you click, "Don't Show Me This Again," it goes away and pops up again the next day. They also offer you free trials and tell you that you will be notified so you may cancel prior to the end of the free trial, but they don't notify you. They also charge your credit card after 7 days, when they told you that the free trial was for a month. And just try to get in touch with customer support. The Loch Ness Monster is far less elusive. Will not renew and will never return.

Several days ago, Norton updated my software - changing my Product from Norton Security with Backup to Norton 360. Upon update completion, I was presented with a message that I had zero remaining trial days and forced to use one of my two remaining licenses for the Norton 360 that I didn't want. Norton 360 has many more components than my previous product including the likes of a VPN. So, not only did I loose an available license, I may yet be billed or be future renewed at a higher cost for things I do not feel I need.
Today, while running a Smart Scan, it stopped processing mid-way through. I opened Windows task manager and witnessed an unexpected change to running tasks. New "Norton Security" modules were filling my task manager window - these published by Gen Digital Inc rather than LifeLock. Subsequent browser searches suggests that Gen Digital may be legitimate, but surprises such as this (especially following a recent hacking scare) cause serious questions of the lack of communications from Norton.
Calling your support number and hearing a non-American support agent speaking accented English added to my concern of a continuing case of hacking. That said, Norton, like most other businesses, outsources product support for costs effectiveness reasons. But that agent's assurances of being a Norton employee may not allay all a customer's suspicions.
Follow-up:One laptop now shows 2 active licenses - one stemming from Norton Security with Backup, and one from Norton 360. Two issues are associated:
1. If Norton must change the Product, it needs to properly manage the licenses - perhaps including an Uninstall and Reinstall as part of the process.
2. Someone at Norton needs to correct this. I'm reluctant to select a license to remove (and restore to my pool of available ones) without fully understanding the correct choice and the resulting consequences on my Computer. And while some may consider it a nonsense task, Norton needs to advise users of Product specific changes well before it happens - especially given changes that CAN appear to be not by Norton.
Thank You.

Overall the product is not bad, however you will be disappointed every time you open it up. Every scan finds something that can only be solved by adding another Norton add on, which you can try free and we will auto-renew after 30 days. These are non-stop. Once you make it past 11 months Norton will launch an auto renew charge early (so you never lose coverage) and the price will be about twice the non-discounted price posted on the website. Now you want to cancel and they really grind you, I went through 4 agents of course 20% off, 40%, oh talked with supervisor 50% off. Bottom line do yourself a favor disable auto-review upfront, it is cheaper just to buy a new copy.

I have several of their products and have in the past had very few issues with them. However, I am currently having an issue with Norton Password Manager. I have been locked out of my 100+ password vault since early August 2024. I contacted support who walked me through using my back up key, etc, and the program glitched during the process, used the key but still locked me out.
Since that time10 weeks now, I have contact Norton Support over and over again. Since early Sept, I have been told that my issue has been forwarded to the engineering team and is being worked on. Every week I chat and get the same information, speaking with Supervisors and Managers hasn't helped, they apologize and tell me that they have escalated my case to priority status as of Sept 17th but cannot provide any additional information. I am beginning to feel that if Level 1 & 2 Support can't resolve the issue it is sent to a black hole where no one that the Customer has access to can provide at least a status and update. I am currently being forced to sit and wait hoping that I hear from someone. Still can't access any of my passwords, still not using the product that I pay yearly.

Buyer Beware. Do not subscribe to this service!. Once you subscribe, they make it virtually impossible to cancel. The 1st year I subscribed, I was getting more than annoyed with their current pop-ups saying your computer has a problem. Give us some more money and we will get rid of it. I turned off the auto-renewal option and they turned it back on without my consent. In June of 2023, they then charged my credit card 5 weeks before the subscription was due to expire. After wasting a couple of hours trying to contact them to cancel, I finally decided to stay with them for another year as I needed antivirus protection. I then removed myself from their automatic renewal option.
A couple of months before my subscription was to expire this year, I double checked to make sure the auto-renewal was off. Once again, they put it back on. I turned it off a 2nd time. Then in June the charge showed up, with the subscription scheduled to expire 5 weeks later. I finally got somebody on the phone who could barely speak English. When I told him to cancel my subscription, He said he would give me 50% off if I changed my mind. Then it was 60%, then 70%. Finally at 80% I hung up on him as he would not take no for an answer.
I sent them a certified letter to a FL address, before the expiration date, which they ignored. They are con-artists. When you want to renew, you are one click away and you can do it in seconds. When you want to cancel, they make it impossible. After reading through many of the ratings here, I am not surprised that almost 80% of the nearly 1,000 respondents gave them a rating of 2 or less. I am only giving them a rating of 1, because giving them a zero is not an option. My only alternative at this point is to talk to my brother-in-law who works for the Federal Trade Commission to find out how I can file a class action suit. It sounds like there are several others who have had similar experiences with them.

I have used Norton for many years on multiple PCs and have never had an issue like I did this week. Now, I'm not sure I would ever purchase it again. I purchased a new pc and downloaded Norton 360 from the Best Buy site to load. I was unable to sign on to my Norton account and I called the Norton tech support group. I was told, my IP address had been hacked and purchases on a porn site had been made. After a number of calls, and time on the phone, I determined, it wasn't my visa being used and I just wanted Norton to load correctly.
Tech support said I would need a security patch called 'Apple for everything' (really an Apple patch for a PC???) and I could purchase it at Target for each device in the house- I would need 8 copies of the patch (2PCs, 4TVs, 2Cells). He even told me, he would stay on the line while I drove to Target to buy the patch (red flag), then he told me it would cost 350.00 for each device and after I purchased them, Norton would give me my money back (really?).
I hung up and called the Geek Squad at Best Buy. They figured out, that my Windows 11 version was corrupt and after loading Windows11 Pro and a security package, Web boot would fix my machine and it did. The only cost to me was the Windows 11. Unfortunately, I can't return the Norton software to Best Buy, so I have to eat that cost and I think Norton should reimburse me for the Best Buy cost. The whole experience was so bizarre, I doubt I would ever use Norton again.

I wouldn't say anything if I knew they were trying to catch these people but I'm sure they aren’t. So I will cancel their software subscription and try some different software.

Trying to talk to them online is a joke, "We will have an agent with you in 5 minutes…." 15 minutes later NOTHING. Tried three times. Trying to get to my so called account it showed I am using the wrong password….Again, another Norton con! After about three hours trying to get a refund I finally get someone by phone that you can’t even understand. Keep calling back, finally get someone that is understandable, explain that I can’t download virus protection or get into my account. He apologizes for my inconvenience and tries to get me to buy something else, he won’t give up. Finally he agreed to give me a refund. This is a con company, they know they are but all they care about is your money. DON’T waste your time with them.

Horribly inadequate. I am "on hold" on phone for over 2.5 hours now, called after trying to get customer support on the affected machine met with two "could not process the current request" screens. Multiple scans did not detect the virus(es?) crippling my desktop (most attacks seem mcafee-related as their software is the proposed "solution"). While on phone, on a third machine I tried tech support via "chat". Another 25 minute wait there. Then as I was describing the initial virus attacks the tech person reported he was not receiving any messages and so signed off - This despite we had had at least 3 back and forths about what name to use, etc, shortly before hand. Another try at chat and another 20 minute wait... This now is 3 failed attempts to BEGIN to describe the problem to a tech person in 3.5 hours. Have requested to speak to a supervisor and once more waiting....

I had the Norton 360 deluxe antivirus subscription (annually) in June. I noticed my IPad running noticeably slow and went to Apple. They ran the testing and said because the antivirus software slowed down the system. They said I did not need another antivirus software because Apple itself provide the protection (IPhone too). Therefore I deleted the antivirus software in July. I made quite a few calls to Norton asking for prorated refund and I got no result. The customer service experience were terrible. Three times they told me that I will get an email notifying me for a refund but they lied every time.
The upcoming government policy to enforce the company to make refund more accessible has no impact to them at all. Meanwhile once I hung up the phone an email appeared that a bogus company sent me a bill $477.00 for annual antivirus protection contract. I am seriously suspecting they are practicing scare tactic and harassing me as well. I have zero hesitation to recommend not use this company.

We had to buy a new computer which came with a different antivirus, so we had to cancel Norton. They would not prorate a refund on the annual renewal that took effect in March, resulting in a $55 loss. We are long-time customers and would have continued if we didn't need to purchase a new computer. I also found out in this process that Norton had a recent massive data breach compromising customer information. How does an antivirus corporation get hacked? Talk about losing trust and customers. And Norton will never see our future business with the failure to honor a long-time customer with a prorated refund. That guaranteed we won't return to Norton when the other antivirus timeframe expires. We'll done, Norton. No honor at all.

I purchased a 1-year subscription. The product was okay, but nothing special and occasionally glitched out. After about 11 months, I canceled the auto-renewal. Unbeknownst to me, Norton had already renewed my subscription for another year. I didn't notice for several months, and by the time I did, they told me it was too late to get a refund, even though I turned off auto-renew well before the end of my original subscription.
They repeatedly told me that I should have known about the renewal because they sent me an email. But when I managed to track down the email, the subject line was "Enjoy peace of mind with your cyber safety protection...." No one is going to bother opening an email like that, especially given that Norton sends several junk emails every month. This auto-renewal, more than a month in advance, without reasonable notice and their subsequent refusal to provide a refund leads me to conclude that Norton is basically just trying to scam their customers.

To whom it may concern, I am currently using your Norton Anti-Virus 360 software to protect all of my computers. However, I have been receiving pop-up messages indicating that my personal information is being sold online. This raises concerns about the effectiveness of Norton Anti-Virus 360. If the software is designed to protect my personal information, why is it not preventing this issue?
Additionally, the messages suggest adding “Privacy Monitor Assistant” for $109.99 per year. Could you please clarify what Norton 360 does to protect my computers and why it is necessary to purchase an additional service to safeguard my personal information? If my information is being sold on the dark web, why isn’t Norton 360 protecting my PC and my data?
Since Norton 360 doesn’t seem to be providing the necessary protection, it feels like paying $100.00 per year for this service is unjustified. I believe that customers using Norton should consider filing a lawsuit for paying $100.00 per year for a service that does not fulfill its promises. I intend to share my experience online to see what others think. Thank you for selling a product that claims to protect PCs and personal information but appears to be ineffective and vulnerable to hackers. Why are we using Norton products if they can't protect our sensitive information and prevent harm?

The ONLY thing Norton is really good at is hassling customers to upgrade and renew 380 days early.
Using it on 4 different devices has become a hideous time consuming frustrating waste of energy and resources. The good reviews are either not honest or are written by someone new to Norton. Norton, formerly known as Symantec, formerly known as Norton...is well known for 1. treating existing, repeat customers like dirt. 2. Eastern continent based far away, outsourced Tech Support who are not properly trained about the product(s). The Feedback Surveys are useless, don't waste your time- it's a phishing scam.

I have been using Norton for years, more than I can count. Slowly its usefulness has decreased and its sales pitches have accelerated, especially after my most recent renewal in 12/2023. I decided I needn't need or want it any longer. I canceled my subscription, removed the software and asked for a refund. After chatting with customer support for an hour, including working with a supervisor, the sum total of what they could provide me was NOTHING. No refund, period.
My loyalty mattered not at all. The fact that I barely use it does not matter. The fact the backup doesn't work does not matter. Not even their own customer service post from Jan 18, 2024 mattered. Nothing matters except a multimillion dollar company wants to hold onto every penny. If I canceled any other service, cable, telephone line, or lawn mowing, I would be entitled to a refund of the unused portion, but not Norton. No, for them, once they have the money, they keep the money, whether I am using their service or not.

I was told the cancellation was accepted because I took action within the 60 day window. I contacted Norton on February 27, 2024 because I did not receive a refund on my credit card from Norton. The on-line bot/representative said it couldn't help me with my request for a refund and asked me to click a link to speak to someone in customer service. I clicked on the button and it sent me back into a never ending loop to nowhere. Norton's website demonstrates that it does not want you to be successful in obtaining a refund.
Out of frustration, I went online to see how other customers were handling refund issues with Norton. I called a number from a site indicating they were Norton's Customer Service Department. The representative asked me a series of odd questions such as what was the balance on my credit card. Alarmed, I hung up the phone immediately and contacted my credit card company to cancel my credit card. I came very close to being scammed - all because Norton did not followthrough with its promise to reverse the charge and the company makes it impossible to find the "secret door" to obtaining a legitimate refund. Though I've lost my $59.99, I hope my review saves you from entering Norton's den of frustration and business deception.

One huge problem is that they bill you an exorbitant $149 for a renew and they do it 1 month prior to your subscription due date. It's abusive because you have to cancel or call to not get the auto renew and why pay for a 12 month subscription and then have to cancel after 11 months? You have to hunt to find the phone number to get your renew money back and even after calling, it took 30 minutes this morning to get the representative to say they are researching it. I had a problem and needed help, so I looked for Support and got the endless list question/canned answers, never addressing my question. Looked for an email address, none. Reply email, Non-reply. Having changed from my previous virus program for the same type of support, I decided to end the trial 2 days early. I went all over the website but could not find a way to end the trial. I finally managed to end the trial, uninstalled the program but got a message the subscription would renew, (auto renewal) anyhow and my credit card was charged! I did protest the charge to my card bank.
In the meantime, the program re-appeared on my computer. So I deleted the downloads and used Microsoft to remove the programs. I received email referring to my "new Account". Very aggressive, over-bearing methods, for a FREE 7 Day Trial". Hours on this, still no communication, all efforts at support referred back to the endless question/canned answers support. Also, after the un-install I was missing my PassWord Files! Now I need a real antivirus program to find my PW files!

First off, I have been a Norton customer for over 20 years. However since the acquisition of Lifelock I assume the company has changed leadership. In the past 5 years there has been a sharp decline in customer service. Multiple data breaches leading to lost customer information including password manager passwords! Most annoying is you purchase a product, and then have to decline pop up advertisements, most of which are predatory veiled threats. You can't turn them off.
They give you a "special offers" box to check, but you are still bombarded daily with, "Buy this new product or your going to have the virus hack stolen data!" They make auto-renew difficult to turn off, for a reason. They use predatory "wait how about 30 days free so you forget to cancel again!" methods. They notoriously charge you well in advance of your renewal date. They make it difficult to get refunded any charge. This used to be a great product. Now its just another one of the malicious pieces of software I buy security suites to protect me from.

Having wasted almost an hour, Norton Anti-virus order was NOT correct in the terms advertised. Clearing up the problem was impossible. If a company cannot process orders correctly they certainly cannot be counted upon to provide good services.

I don't even know where to start! Very easy to set up. Spoke to someone in the United States. Had many many issues. Always talk to someone that was not in this country. Could not understand them. They could not understand me. Bottom line is fraud happened on my debit card and they did not catch it. I called for an explanation and the man told me that they can't monitor everything every minute! Seriously why am I paying them every month for what? Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Easy to set up but that's about all I can say. I would not waste another dime on this company and you shouldn't either.

Had this app and found out that Norton renewed my subscription over a month earlier than when it was due to renew. I talked to a representative via the in app chat feature and expressed my extreme displeasure with this shady business practice. I turned off my auto renewal feature and was told that Norton would refund me the money.
Fast forward to today, when I find out that this app didn't stop and was renewed by Norton against my wishes and still charged over $135.00 for another year. I filed a claim against them with my credit card to dispute this charge and removed Norton from all of my devices. This company should be sued for gross misrepresentation of their auto renewal policies as they charge the credit card before an entire year has occurred.

Norton stinks, they fix nothing and all they want is to charge you more money for every problem they find. NEVER RECOMMEND OR USE NORTON AGAIN. 2 thumbs down, $99 for a year and all year long they try to get more money out of you.

I found Norton anti-virus company has pulled money from account on a date. Immediately, I requested a refund because not notified/authorized. Been over a month with them to get a refund of charge. Keep getting: we are working on it!

I never allow Norton to automatically renew. This time it set itself to auto renew when this current one year subscription expires next May. My efforts to change the status ended in a button to push to go to the next step. But, of course, the button didn't work. A hint was provided that maybe I should allow cookies. So, after several minutes I did that. Button still didn't work. Finally I was provided a toll free number which got the to Ms. Thick Accent. She did it with much reluctance. NORTON T'd me off BIG time. She asked me WHY I wanted to disable automatic renewal! Such crust.

I have a Norton back up I completed on Thursday, July 20, 2017 (6 years ago). At that time Norton allowed users to back up to cold storage. This month I need a file I am searching for. My best guess is that the file is in that Norton Back up from 6 years ago, and it is on a flash drive I have in my possession. How to restore a file from cold storage is covered in a video on the Norton website. The video Norton has on their website is outdated and no longer represents the current version of Norton. Since their video is outdated, I had no other option but to ask Norton tech support. I called tech support for Norton this afternoon. The call was answered promptly. They no longer support the backups that were completed on cold storage in previous years. Now that file will not be able to be restored, because I trusted in Norton 360's product. I feel like my trust in Norton products are no longer justified.

Yesterday, I got my desktop working again after 3 weeks of it being down, and first I saw an email asking me to update my payment information for renewal in November 2023. They say September, but my receipt is for 1 year + a couple of months given to me by another email I may not be able to find. I don't know if I will renew this product, because they're terrible to customers. Advertising pop-ups that won't go away, VPN that doesn't work, and numerous problems that customer service only gives you the run-around about.
I ignored the email, but saw a red mark by the product on my taskbar. When I pulled Norton 360 Premium up, everything was disabled. I get on the website to ask why this was happening, and it wouldn't let me in unless I turned on cookies for the website. I don't allow that ever, and it shouldn't prevent me from getting into chat. So I sent an email, and some inexperienced customer service rep tells me to click 'Help' and 'Subscription Status' to have my product sync with the subscription servers. What a crock. It only sends me back to the renewal page asking for money.
Those people have no clue what they're talking about and are trying to send me in circles again. They have no idea how their product functions and are always trying to send customers on wild goose chases. They need to turn my product back on and quit with the bullying politics & predatory capitalism... period. They can turn it off if I don't renew by the September date.

I have had Norton installed on my computers for a few years. The reason for initially acquiring Norton was for its cloud backup capability as a I have several big files that are the product of many years of work. My computer drive failed so I restored my files into a new drive. Many of the files were restored except for a few big files with extension .slx, .m, and .mlx. I can conclude that Norton is not capable to backup all type of files and it is not transparent about this concern. I will have to go through an outside agency to try to recovery my files from the drive that failed. I need Norton to reimburse me for any expenses associated with the recovery of my files and to compensate me for the inconvenience. Norton case #: **.
