There were red buttons "NEEDS REVIEW" next to the lines titled "Financial Institution", all of them not working (not clickable). One of many examples of how mass proliferation of ** programmers has decimated the quality of the software we use. To make things worse, no telephone for help is provided with TurboTax. All they offer in the case of problems is "Community discussions".

I went to a brick and mortar location (they have very few!) and the guy basically wanted me to do everything on my own phone, and I do it, not him! Why are they making customers pay for a service customers are doing themselves? He even suggested I go on their wifi, which is UNSECURED. There were a few things he did not know how to do, could not advise me, and told me "someone else will take care of it". I left and 2 days later got an email asking me to come back in. Like I have nothing else going on in my life. And that I must come in by April 8 (even though deadline is April 15). Yeah, no. Sorry pal. Not going by Your personal schedule, going by my schedule! I deleted everything in TurboTax and filed quickly, easily w HR Block.

I have used TurboTax successfully for at least 10 years. This year I realized that the software was dropping my W-2 income from the total income calculations, even though it showed in the income section. After trying the chat for several minutes I asked for a live person. The first representative confirmed all the details and agreed that the program was dropping my W-2 income which would result in underreporting income and getting to much of a refunds. He said he was going to pass me to a support person who could address the issue but, instead, he passed me to another first-response person who repeated everything he did and then acknowledged she didn't know why he passed me to her because if he couldn't correct the problem, she couldn't either. She offered to give me a 20% discount for me trouble but rather then the regular Premium + Business price they were now quoting me $229 because I requested help due to their faulty program.
This rep then passed me to someone I thought was an actual support person who could help but he was an intermediate screener who listened to my issue and my frustration over the lack of help and poor coordination, plus the 2 hours I had now spent between the chat and two reps. He offered to connect me with a person who could really address their software issue but I had to end the call due to a family emergency. He said the support person could call me back in 24 to 48 hours but I explained that I would only be available in the next 24 due to a medical procedure and work responsibilities. He said he would pass on that message but couldn't promise anything. So two hours wasted plus the hours I spent entering all my information. It's hard to imagine at this point in the filing period that they haven't run across this issue before. Either way, I will use a different service.

I’ve used Turbo Tax software for years and found it to be easy. This year, there’s no software, just a website, and I hate it! It took two days to do Federal and State and then was over $200 to send both. I had to study and research some of the state laws myself, because Turbo Tax lacked much help. I was a loyal customer, but I will never use it again!!

Total scam. TurboTax and Credit Karma lured me in with a $1,000 Refund Advance offer. I paid $150 for their 'Premium' service, and then they proceeded to hold my taxes in 'processing' for THREE MONTHS. Now that they finally finished, I find out the Refund Advance application closed on Feb 28 while they were dragging their feet. They literally held my return until the promotion expired so they wouldn't have to honor it. They got their $150 fee, but I’m left with zero advance and a 90-day headache. This is absolute corporate fraud. Do not trust their 'advancement' promises—they will just delay you until the deadline passes.

Purchased Deluxe version of TurboTax 2025 tax return thru Amazon. Have used this version for many years. Found this year to be extremely confusing and misleading. After my e-file a friend found that it did not add the Schedule 1-A needed for the senior government bonus though I was eligible. It did fill out the 1040SR and had my birthdate. I had a refund coming so I wanted it to be direct deposit and take out the required $25 to e-file my state. Made me sign a bunch of extra crap and then said it was charging me an additional $40 to do this thru SBGPT. I now have found there are many other consumers that had very similar issues and complaints this year. This needs to be looked into. And who is this Santa Barbara Tax Products Group???? They now have my bank info!!!!

I filed with TurboTax last week. It was rejected by the IRS for some missing information. I then discovered some other things that I needed to add into it so I tried to cancel or tried to get a refund for the one I filed last week to start over again. Turbo tax will not give me a refund. They'll give me 20%. So my advice to everyone is do not use TurboTax. They just want your money.

I have been a TurboTax user for many years without an issue. 2025 is the first year I used the online version, and I am very unhappy with the change. There is a flaw in the program where it does not properly calculate taxable social security. The explanation for this problem that "support" provides is not even close to a reasonable explanation. They say it's because I skipped a question about living outside of the country. I did not. I know where I live. Because the program under-calculated my tax, I am now saddled with an almost $1700.00 tax bill, I was not planning on instead of the $1700.00 return I was expecting.
I think Turbo Tax needs to fix its program and provide consumers who were misled about their "100% accurate calculations" guarantee should be compensated for the inconvenience and false advertising rather than being provided with excuses that are not valid. I paid close to $200.00 to have the job done wrong. Thanks for the trouble, Turbo Tax.

I've used Turbotax in the past with little issues. However, Turbotax for 2025 is terrible and there is no customer service. I have tried contacting customer service to solve a major issue or receive a refund through email, chat and phone calls and have received zero response. The downloaded software crashes, won't allow me to save my tax return or file it, and repeatedly says "I do not have permission." Everything is set according to their automated advice to solve these issues. I have a new MacBook Pro purchased in January 2026. I purchased this when I realized my 10 year old Mac would not work for this year's download. Therefore, it is not the computer with issues. It's the TurboTax software and their lack of customer support. I'm switching to another service. This was a waste of money. I paid for a product that does not work and Intuit will not respond for assistance or a refund.

I completed my taxes with Turbo Taxes, and they forced me to pay for a 5-day early refund gimmick that I tried to cancel inside the program, which, through deception, tricked me into accepting a $35.00 charge for early refund, which I did not want. Also, there are various phishing numbers online that have offshore call centers pretending to be Intuit that ask for sensitive information and try to take over your computer! All of this was a nightmare this year, a very unpleasant experience. I will now just pay a professional to do my taxes from here on out.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience using TurboTax this year. I have contacted customer support five separate times regarding a single issue involving the proper handling of the Premium Tax Credit (Form 8962) under a special filing situation. Despite speaking with multiple representatives, none have been able to resolve the issue or provide consistent, accurate guidance. Each interaction resulted in conflicting information, repeated troubleshooting steps, and no clear path forward. The software itself failed to prompt the necessary questions to properly apply my situation, and support has been unable to correct or override this limitation.
What is most concerning is that when I requested escalation to a manager or someone with more advanced knowledge, I was denied access. I was told that escalation was not available, which left me without any meaningful resolution. This experience has been frustrating, time-consuming, and financially impactful. Tax software should be reliable, especially when handling complex but valid IRS scenarios. Instead, I was left navigating a critical tax issue on my own after multiple unsuccessful attempts to get help. I expected a much higher level of support and accountability. At this point, I cannot confidently recommend TurboTax to others, particularly those with more complex tax situations.

I was charged $302 for services I did not opt into, during check out there were no break of fees for deluxe and I paid $40 upfront for TurboTax when it should technically be free as advertised. This will be my last year using TurboTax and I strong advise using a service that acknowledges fees upfront and does not utilize your hard earned money to build revenue for their company. They're basically offering you a deal but hiding the fees associated with the deal they advertise and using your Tax return to deduct the cost of said deal. Mind you I filed my taxes BY MYSELF, no agent assisted, I didn’t use their AI assistant, and I had no issues with filing my taxes. So they basically got paid $302 for no reason.

I only needed help with one issue — TurboTax misreading my W-2 — but the support agent stayed with me through the checkout, seemingly trying to rush me past the cost-summary page. I assumed this help was included in the $65 per-state return fee (which I agreed to for two states), but an additional $119 phone support fee appeared with no clear warning. Had I known, I would have stopped and completed my return elsewhere.
Instead, I ended up paying $249 for my college-student son's very simple part-time job return — the same as I pay a professional accountant for my much more complex return. Further, the agent said goodbye as I proceeded through checkout, so I thought he had left. Later, I received a message that his internet connection was experiencing a problem and being resolved, which confirmed he had stayed on my screen. This felt a little creepy and gave the impression he was monitoring me through payment — another reason I will not use TurboTax again.

I signed up to be notified by email. Heard nothing after several weeks. Decided to delete everything and start over. Retirement section was there. Completed my taxes but couldn't efile due to a problem with a 1099-R on my NY state return. Said the amount withheld for state tax couldn't be more than gross amount. It wasn't. Decided to at least efile my federal return. Said I had to download any updates before filling. Hit that button, but error message kept coming up. So deleted everything, redownloaded the app for the fourth time and same thing happened.
Contacting TT customer service was a joke. They just kept referring me to active help which was an additional charge. Fortunately, the retail outlet where it was purchased gave me a refund. Went with a competitor and had no problems. Interestingly, when comparing the paperwork between the two, it was clear that TT had also figured something wrong. That's it TT. Having just moved to Pennsylvania, I had no idea the state requires separate local tax filings. That’s exactly why I trusted a CPA through TurboTax — to guide me through what I didn’t know. They didn’t file my local taxes and never once mentioned I needed to. No warning. No guidance. Just an incomplete return handed back with a smile.
Three years later, I’m receiving penalty notices from my local tax collector for the missed filing. When I contacted TaxAudit — the add-on sold through TurboTax for exactly this kind of situation — they simply told me “it’s not an audit, contact TurboTax.” The safety net I paid for had a hole in it. TurboTax support has been nothing but bots and dead ends ever since. The price I paid stings, but honestly that’s not even the point anymore. The point is that I trusted professionals with something important, and they let me down at every step — the filing, the guidance, the guarantee, and the support. Disappointing doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Turbo Tax Full Service - Why do "Experts" repeatedly need coaching and still provide sloppy work. I talked with over 20 tax experts and had 4 of them complete my taxes, only the last one, a certified CPA, did them correctly. The $150 "deal" was not a deal after all. I spent over 40 hours total and many of those hours coaching the "turbo tax" experts on topics such as: You must enter all stock sales from a 1099 B into my taxes. You must adjust the cost basis. A 1099-MISC must be reported. When entering data, you must enter the correct ticker symbols for the amounts that were sold. When entering dividends, please report the government portion, and have a basis for that. You must not enter income as a duplicate, and then try to back it out as a duplicate, how does a backdoor Roth IRA work.
I observed dozens of repeat basic mistakes not even a junior level tax expert should make. Intuit encouraged me to pay a second time to see my tax forms which I reluctantly did because the 4th tax expert assured me that the refund was in process for my first payment. To date I have not gotten refunds that match my original payments. Turbotax is not so "turbo" in replying (in fact - they seem to ignore. I have a copy the chat records. Terrible service, unfulfilled promises. After 10+ years with Turbotax, I ended up using Free Tax USA which was easier to use, and free for Federal. It took me less than an hour to complete. and only $15 for state. I know another person who has happy with express1040 as another free option.
"The Experts". Tax Expert 1: Nancy W (close to finishing then closed my case - couldn't seem to handle medicaid waiver payments, I spent much time coaching her). Tax Expert 2: Neda H (sloppy work, missed basic entries). Tax Expert 3: Vandetta, an EA, (sloppy work, missed basic entries and even reclassified one correct entry and made it incorrectly self-employment). Tax Expert 4: Joseph EXCELLENT just too late. I do not plan to use TurboTax again. Will be happy to adjust this review if Turbo Tax or Intuit would kindly reach out to resolve the open issue.

I moved from Texas in September 2025 to Michigan. I was aware that Michigan, unlike Texas, has a state income tax. I was taxed on dividends paid during the time i lived in Michigan (3 1/2 months of 2025).. Michigan did not tax my Social Security. I paid $87 tax to Michigan and Turbo Tax charged me an additional $64 for the Michigan return. I spent three hours doing the full return myself before I had online/phone assistance from Turbo Tax. It was apparent that the Turbo Tax person was rushing me through the process. At one point she asked me to upload my pension statement then, when I had questions about it she repeatedly told me she was not authorized to review the information online. She would periodically go silent on the phone for minutes at a time so it was apparent she was doing something else and was distracted. I was aware that I owed federal taxes and state taxes. The big surprise came after I filed electronically.
I owed additionally taxes to the local municipality. These could not be filed electronically. I had to make an in-person visit to the local tax office and will need to make mandatory quarterly payments to the municipality for 2026 taxes. This is fine but I expected that the Turbo Tax employee would have been knowledgeable about this additional tax liability which would have made the process smoother and much less stressful. Instead, she brushed off my questions and urged me to go ahead and file. I ended up paying Turbo Tax $342 which I consider exorbitant since I really did all the work myself. In my working life I spent almost five decades as a professor at the City University of New York, and when I retired eight years ago my retirement annuity was funded by six different accounts at TIAA, four of which I had contributed to. Until this year my taxes were done by an accountant, but he is retiring so decided to try to do my own taxes using TurboTax. TurboTax did my federal taxes correctly, but my New York state income taxes were done wrong because when I told TurboTax that my annuity was from New York State, it put the entire annuity into the category of pensions to which I had not contributed, making all of it tax exempt to NY state. I had the precise figures on page 2 of my 1099-R but there was no way to change the number of the total annuity payment on the NY state form. I sent in the erroneous NY State return.
I had paid $266 for TurboTax with expert assistance and spent most of an afternoon waiting for an expert qualified to handle New York State tax issues, and then an hour on the phone with the expert. He guided me to a different area of the program, where what I was supposed to do was to insert the dollar amount of the TIAA 403B and 401A accounts that gone into the creation of my annuity. I did not have those figures available. I told him that I knew from the TIAA annuity exactly how much was taxable and how much was not, but there was apparently no way to put these numbers into the NY 201-A return directly. So what I am going to have to do is get the amended tax form from somewhere, figure out how to fill it out myself, and mail it to Albany NY with a check for the amount that I owe for the year plus the refund that I am going to receive some time in the next few weeks.

A customer service rep walked me through everything, only to put me on hold. When they put me on hold, another service rep picked up the line. This new service rep knew nothing of the half hour I had just spent on the phone with my first service rep, and wanted me to start from the beginning. In spite of getting my callback number, no one from TT has called me back. Apparently, I have just paid a large amount of money for something that does not work, and something that there is no fix for. After 25 years using TT, I'm finally done.

I initially used the desktop version of TurboTax but eventually felt pressured to switch to the online version due to repeated prompts to decline it every time I opened the application. This turned out to be a significant mistake. After signing up for the online version, it prompted me to import my 2024 tax information but failed to ask for the already completed 2025 information. As a result, I had to re-enter all of my 2025 data from scratch. While inputting my tax information, I was frustrated by having to "review" the same details repeatedly. It made no sense to me that once information was verified, I would be asked to verify it again. Additionally, if I exited and returned, I had to answer the same questions I had already completed.
For the first time in ten years of filing a similar return, I received a "Qualified Business Income Deduction." I suspect this is because TurboTax this time interprets my involvement in an LLC that owns a rental property as self-employment. Another annoying feature of the software is the constant upsell prompts. Even after declining the Max offering five times, it continues to ask. While there are some redeeming qualities, like the drag-and-drop functionality for files and the absence of software updates, the added frustration outweighs the benefits.

I have used TurboTax for years and had great results, until this year. I filed and the IRS lowered the amount of my return because TurboTax took my wife's social security completely out of our adjusted income and the IRS put all of her social security back into our adjusted income, hence the lowered return. I called TurboTax and tried to get help to adjust the TurboTax return for my records and so that next year TurboTax knows the actual return not what they calculated. Needless to say it did not go over very well, the TurboTax representative tried to blame me for their error and would not listen to what I was saying. I might just go with another company next year.

I think Turbo Tax is ripping people off. I had back taxes 2023 and 2024. I had to download those two years after paying for them. Finally get everything done and was told efile for those years is closed. Print and mail it in. Couldn't efile. I called the IRS asking some questions and was told efile is still open for 2023 and 2024. A little more research and had to redo them with FreeTaxUSA. They did the federal for free. State was 17.99 and efiled them. So that's 2023 file. Turbo Tax literally charged 4x that and wouldn't efile them. That's just a rip off. Actually got more back with FreeTax too. And it's done. No waiting 4 to 6 weeks. My 2024 and 2025 taxes are a little more work but I'm not ever giving Turbo Tax any money again. They're just greedy and their software's no easier than the other one.

I have been using the Turbo Tax programs for 40 plus years and I can say that my past experiences using Turbo Tax were easy and I would highly recommend using their products. Because of the special offer to use one of the available tax experts, I decided to go this route. Before going further, I want to say that the tax expert I met with was just that; he was a professional, an expert in his field, polite and someone I would trust to do my taxes. It was unfortunate that the system that Turbo Tax put into effect this year, handcuffed this expert from doing his job efficiently. My first day using a tax expert was a complete waste of my time.
To begin my process, I called the number that you find online. By calling this number, I was immediately connected to one of their telephone concierge’s. They assist you with setting up an appointment at one of their local offices with one of their tax experts. This was done quite quickly. I saw that there were two locations in Marlton NJ and I chose the one that was the closest. The first problem I had was finding the office where I was to have my taxes completed. If you Google Turbo Tax – Greentree, Marlton NJ one of the locations comes up but not the second location. Both of these offices are located in Marlton, NJ, a few blocks apart yet the office I picked had no information available online.
My next problem was locating the office where I was to meet the tax expert. I foolishly thought that Turbo Tax would have a store front similar to H&R Block. I was wrong. When I arrived at the location, I saw several office complexes. I went inside the first looking for a Turbo Tax office but none was found. I looked through the directory and did not see an office for Turbo Tax nor the representative I was seeing listed among the hundred of listings. There was another building across the walkway, was I in the wrong building? I walked to this building, asked the few people I saw if any were familiar with Turbo Tax and received no as a reply.
Back to the first building I headed. I called the number for Turbo Tax, hoping that I could contact the tax expert but there was no direct line to him and they had no office number on file for the office I needed to find. I went back to the office directory and scrolled line by line, looking for either Turbo Tax or the name of the tax expert. Neither were listed. I did see Intuit listed and thought this is the floor I needed to go to. Note: if I did not know that Intuit was the TurboTax I would not have found the office and my whole day would have been wasted. Up to the second floor I went, where the receptionist for the floor located the Turbo Tax expert and in I went for my appointment. I was familiar with the process of using a service like H&R Block so I thought Turbo Tax would have a similar procedure. I brought with me all my necessary tax documents.
Now for the clincher. The tax expert said he could not enter the information for me. Let me repeat that: The tax expert said he could not enter the information that I had brought with me. As much as I liked the tax expert which I truly did. I was shocked. In my head, my thought was: “What the …. am I doing here?” I drove 35 minutes to get here, will drive another 35 minutes to get home, wasted 20 minutes looking for the office, spoke with the expert for 20 minutes to learn of his 50 years of experience, a fellow Vet like myself and now I am going to be leaving with nothing.
It seems that Turbo Tax did not set up a system that allowed the tax expert to directly input the information I had brought with me. That was my responsibility. Wouldn’t it have been nice, even professional, if the first person I spoke with let me know that I needed to have done this. Even contacting the expert was a problem as there was no direct number to his office and the original number I was given only connected me to the Turbo Tax service department.
Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed (except for talking with the expert) with my whole experience with TurboTax. I don’t know how I can trust them to improve the quality of their product. It is not enough to have a polite, professional staff. What is needed is a quality product that the experts can work with. A very disappointed Turbo Tax user.

Turbo Tax is misleading and their so called “experts” are nothing more than someone who filled out an application and has a pulse. They have a few CPAs and some credentialed people to speak to when getting “live” help, but if you want an actual accountant to speak to you have to pay for it, their advertisement of product cost is misleading and their “expert” help is nothing more than someone with a GED or high school diploma. Don’t be fooled by their misleading marketing gimmicks. If you have a more than one W-2 or any employee provided retirement plans you will be charged at least 40-50$ to file your taxes, plus their state tax forms always have glitches causing delays for the person filing. Don't use this software if you didn't use it the previous year. After spending a fair amount of time working through the process, it came to the point where I needed to submit my tax information for return. They asked for payment and it was removed from my account for both Federal and State taxes. However, I received several questions after the money was removed, questions that I couldn't answer. I had to go to a CPA to file my taxes, which I should have done in the first place.
When I asked for a refund for the money that was taken from me, I get the following response: "TurboTax Online can be used at no cost up until the point that you submit payment. Once payment has been received, the product is considered to have been used to prepare your taxes, regardless of whether you print or electronically file your return, or if your return is rejected by the agency you filed with."
I couldn't file my taxes. They took my money and refused a refund. I will never use TurboTax again. Funny thing is, I know they'll bug me all year to finish filing my taxes. I suffered through it all of last year because I didn't use them, and I know I'll get a ton of e-mail (and phone calls) to finish filing for this year. I suggest you go elsewhere.

Their customer support consisted of sending me to a paid support group that required a $55 monthly fee. So-called FULL SERVICE 2026 TurboTax is an unmitigated disaster. On the tech side, the website did not allow for the IMPORT of data from major financial institutions like Vanguard, unlike past decades. Conversations with four different staff revealed that NONE of them were aware of this. None was able to remediate. One helped me UPLOAD the required forms. I chose FULL SERVICE to meet in person with my agent. TurboTax had rented temporary office space. The individual was professional, personable, and had worked in the tax field for some years. This was the first and last positive interaction. There was no direct line to her desk. One could only reach her via the office rental manager. That number was often busy or "inbox is full; try again later." Using the CHAT function was equally frustrating.
I was lucky to get a reply in 24 hours. Often, the reply did not address my questions. Several times, she indicated she would call me; she never did. I could never get an agreement on when she would have a draft of the return for my review. When I pointed out that she would have to input the data from the uploaded forms, she replied this would further delay her preparation (still no indication when she would have it); I should IMPORT the date. I repeated this was not possible and SHE HAD ENCOURAGED ME TO UPLOAD THE FORMS. Every time I called TTax to discuss, I got a different agent and had to repeat all the problems I was having. The last person with whom I spoke (this past Saturday) told me she could not see my account/file; they were apparently having IT problems. She tried but could not connect me with a manager.
Several hours later, she did call me to say that she had sent the manager a long message detailing my problems; assured me that Ttax would wipe my UPLOADS; would contact my agent to either return or shed my hard copies, and would call me again Sunday to give me an update. As helpful as she had been, I regret to say I have not heard from her. Prior to this NIGHTMARE, I had used TTAx for a decade plus (with its typical problems). I have no idea how Intuit has ruined the product and its reputation (as evidenced by the numerous 1star ratings on this website) but it has. In fact, if you use AI and do a search for what are users saying about 2026 Turbotax, you will find confirmation of the negative comments posted here. The only positive thing I have to say is that at least I had not yet paid for this catastrophe.

I won't use this product again. My husband and I had used it satisfactorily for years until recently. Last year (2024 taxes) we contacted customer service to report a glitch in the program... The software claimed we were going to be penalized for me not taking a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD); I was not yet 73 so not required to take one. The people I talked to told me I could pay to have an expert do my taxes...That was the extent of the help I got.
This 2025 tax season, my husband who exceeds the minimum age for withdrawal by more than 20 years was told we would be penalized for taking an early withdrawal from his retirement plan. We reviewed the data entries multiple times, tried different scenarios, nothing corrected it. After almost 4 hours of work, we gave up and tried H&R Block. Data entry was quick, the results what we expected. We completed that in less than 2 hours including the state tax return. TurboTax has lost me as a customer forever. I couldn't find the desktop so made the mistake of using the online version. It absolutely insisted that I had to enter an RMD amount when I took it from another account and would NOT allow me to file unless I filed incorrectly. This caused my income to be incorrectly recorded as increased by $750.50 which resulted in a lower state and federal refund plus it crossed into the Federal senior bonus area and we received a lower deduction and thus more taxes there. The site is terrible and phone calls (when I could stumble upon a number.) were NOT returned as promised. I am currently 44 min. beyond an appointment with a Turbo Tax agent so am back where I started trying to fix this mess.
In addition, the amend site is NOT functioning. I was also overcharged and am VERY ANGRY about the $35 charge to file electronically which was NOT disclosed when I started. My accountant in my presence while chatting at the same time will complete my taxes in approximately one hour at what I thought was a very fair rate. For the last six or eight years using TurboTax, because I've moved to a different state away from my accountant, I spent countless hours on the computer trying to complete now, which are much simpler taxes to prepare. In past years I have successfully used TurboTax software but for the 2025 tax year I was unable to e-file my return and after hours of trying and even attempting to call for customer service, I printed out my return and will "snail mail" it to the IRS. There seems to be little real-time support as you proceed though all the steps, checks, and reviews to FILE MY RETURN. I constantly found myself in perpetual loops that of course, always offered to charge me additional fees for additional help. I just wanted it to FINISH and FILE. I have had better experience and less frustration with the Free Tax USA service from U.S.

Turbotax steers users towards giving them all your financial info, despite repeatedly indicating I want to keep that data on my PC. Yesterday it wouldn't load until I completed a mandatory survey on why I didn't want to give them my private data. I'm already angry, but today (after updating per the "update" prompt that appears every time the program is opened), it no longer sees the return I almost finished yesterday. Got the last 1099s, went in to enter the last bit and file, and... it can no longer see the nearly completed file I'd saved and reopened repeatedly before. I can see that file in file Explorer. I started a new duplicate file and saved it repeatedly, can see the newly saved file in Explorer too, but Turbotax can't. Deleted and reloaded Turbotax, all to no avail. This software sucks!

I was almost fooled to pay for credit assist when my credit is already very, very good. I will never use them again. I have been using Turbotax for over a decade, it's decent, depending on the complexity of your tax return. But it is not the most user friendly, I have had numerous stressful situation trying to figure things out. Most recently I"m extremely frustrated with the online/desktop differences. I never knew there were 2 types, I assume it's new for 2025 filing. I mistakenly bought the online version, that is good for 1 return. It does not allow me to do numerous returns for the rest of my family, but the desktop version does.
Why would turbotax hide this very important difference? Why does online version not work like the desktop version. Now I have to buy a 2nd time from them to finish our taxes. I believe that is the reason, to increase revenue! This goes along with all the other upsells constantly being thrown at you while doing the taxes. And when it comes time to file, they confuse you into thinking you need to pay to direct deposit your refund, NO, they are trying to get you to pay for a faster refund, later after confusing you they give you the option of receiving your direct deposit for free. Turbo tax is turning into a very crooked company!

Like many of us in the food/delivery industry and many others, the first couple months of the new year are always slow and pay is almost cut in half. This year, I decided to give one of the big companies a try who were offering an advance, especially since I get a healthy return every year. I searched and landed here. I literally started with specifically searching the refund advance, clicking get started under the banner for the advance, filled in everything asked, opened up a new account through CK and even opened a savings to be safe. I fat-fingered a number on my kids' first time around so I re-submitted and went through the entire process again, checking everything. I never had any further prompt about the advance so I continued on filing and all was submitted and accepted (prerequisite for getting approved or denied) and still nothing. Ended up costing me quite a bit coming out of my return to file with them.
I met every qualification listed and did every single prompt. I took my time to make sure I did it right so this kinda thing wouldn't happen. I am very seriously considering using some of my return to hire an attorney to look over everything as I feel I was lied to and intentionally misdirected just so they would get $$ from me. It's very criminal and I encourage all the many in the same boat to consider doing the same. Not only to get anything back you can but on principle. We are all constantly getting screwed over by these big companies and they will get worse until we tell them no. If I do, and win, I promise to make as public as possible so it can be cited for others doing the same. Prime example of how we are being used.

Well I’ve been a customer for at least 25 years. Of course that relationship may be over, it certainly is for the 2025 tax year. They decided to stop supporting MS Win 10. They suggest the web based version as a stripped down alternative. I had a question ie. What is the hardware issue IF my laptop supports 64 bit? As is the case more often then not you have to struggle to talk to a human. I how to make this happen later HINT: lie.
Ok so I get on their website and start interacting with the bot. Yup, they surely can help me all I need to do is fill out a form which the bot displays. You’ll wait forever if you don’t fill out the payment form. The form indicates your payment is fully refundable. You’re paying ‘Justanswer’. Ok it’s only $5. Then you get a human being, apparently well versed in google who parrots back what you already know. Further investigation regarding the fully refundable $5 shows I was charged twice and further they will charge you $5 each month until you cancel and you will not get the original $5 refunded. Ok, I probably took my stupid pill this morning as this is all quite predictable. So now I want to take to someone at Intuit.
If you call Intuit from the phone in your Intuit profile you will receive a useless message about MS Win 10 and then they disconnect. Ok so I guess the most important part of all this is how to get through to a human being at Intuit. You need to call from a phone that is not associated with your Intuit profile, when the bot answers a tells you she can help and refers you to a website that she will text you or email you, you LIE. Say ‘I don’t have TEXT and I don’t have EMAIL and yes this phone is associated with an account (yup lie). You will then get thru to a human, they say 5-10 minute wait but, it’s faster than that. Of course expect to do this more than once as you’ll probably get disconnected. I was disconnected twice.

I’m incredibly frustrated with TurboTax and their misleading payment system. As a Virginia state taxpayer, I selected the option to pay the amount I owed using a credit/debit card—a standard step during the filing process. I followed all prompts, confirmed everything, and submitted my return under the clear assumption that TurboTax would process the payment as selected. Except… they didn’t. TurboTax failed to actually submit my payment to the Virginia Department of Taxation, and nowhere in the process was it made obvious that I’d need to manually go to a third-party site or take additional steps. Because of this failure, I now owe a penalty and interest—through no fault of my own.
Their interface gave me false confidence that the payment was complete. This kind of oversight is unacceptable for a company that millions trust to file correctly and on time. If TurboTax cannot handle state payments directly or requires extra steps, that needs to be clearly and loudly communicated—not buried in fine print or implied instructions. I will seriously reconsider using TurboTax again, and I hope others do too. Mistakes like this cost real people money.

For several years I used TurboTax and was extremely happy with their service and expertise. However, that changed drastically this year, when I paid TurboTax to do my 2024 tax return. Initially, it was difficult to get a hold of my tax preparer. When I finally did, we managed to get through the return, and everything seem to go OK. However, after paying my tax bill, I received a notice from IRS that I owed over an additional $5000, because I made more money than what was estimated for the year. I wasn't happy because I felt that TurboTax would have been aware of this and let me know ahead of time. So, I will be paying that bill because it seems to be accurate.
My real problem was when I got another notice from IRS that I had to pay a $541 penalty because I didn't withdraw enough money from my annuity plan. Problem is, even though I stated to two different TurboTax preparers that, my retirement payments were not annuities but simple plans, from which I can neither contribute or deduct from, but they failed to check the exemption box on my return, so now I have to engage with the IRS to get this straightened out. When I brought these things up, their response was that I didn't pay extra for a guarantee that my return would be accurate. Needless to say, I will not be using TurboTax to do my taxes next year, and I will no longer be referring individuals to TurboTax. I don't know what happened to them over the past year, but they are certainly not the same company I dealt with in the past.

I understand this was technically my mistake, but shouldn't TurboTax have some kind of built in automation if a customer has paid but not filed that sends an email to remind them? This just seems like an easy courtesy and I doubt I am the only one who has done this. I booked a TurboTax Live session on April 30, 2025, expecting professional guidance from a tax expert named Chris H., who claimed to have 16 years of experience. What unfolded was one of the most unprofessional experiences I’ve had with any paid service. After an initial brief exchange, the expert went silent. I wasn’t muted, and neither was he. I spoke multiple times with no response. His video was off, but his microphone remained on, and I could clearly hear sounds that had nothing to do with tax prep — a microwave, chewing, running water, and even personal video content playing in the background. I could see in the reflection of his glasses earlier in the session that he was using his phone, not a computer. He eventually returned on video — still eating — but did not resume communication.
At one point, the session ended without warning. Minutes later, Chris called me by phone. There was no acknowledgment of the prior absence or behavior. He asked a few surface-level questions but quickly fell back into silence again. I had already uploaded my Profit & Loss statement, yet he acted as if it was missing. After nearly 20 more minutes of silence, a message came through at 7:09 PM to review the return. No summary, no closure, and still no acknowledgment of the time lost.
What stood out most was the complete lack of engagement. There was no review of deductions, no effort to understand my financials, and no guidance that resembled professional tax preparation. The session resulted in a large tax bill — one that clearly impacts my life significantly more than it ever will his — and I left without feeling that any real work had been done on my behalf. This experience raises concerns about TurboTax Live's quality control, oversight, and vetting process. A platform that charges premium prices for expert access should ensure basic standards of professionalism, time management, and client respect. Unfortunately, none of that was present in my session.

I was using their service for free for several years. I thought it would stay free, but this year they decided to charge me money despite me only making $40K this year. They were spamming me with popups saying pay for bonus features, I'd always say no, so I was surprised that they took money from me. To be fair, I could've switched to another tax service, but I'm too lazy and didn't want to look for a new website to do everything all over again.
To make matters worse, I think I chose a bad option. Every year before, they would just send the money into my account after a few days. This year, I made a mistake without even realizing it until afterwards. To my detriment, I decided to make a Credit Karma account. In my defense, I'm just filling out whatever is being put in front of me. I thought it was necessary to receive my money. They told me to wait until next month (2-3 weeks from then) to receive my money, and that's not the issue. I can wait.
The problem is, they didn't even send the money to my bank. They instead put it into my Credit Karma account. I didn't even realize money was missing from my bank account until 2 days after the fact because I don't check it that often. Here's the problem: I can't deposit all the money from Credit Karma in 1 go. There's a 2-3 business day delay from Credit Karma to transfer the money and there's a daily limit how much money I can transfer. I gotta log into it as a daily chore just so I can get my money. It's ridiculous! They don't even let me write a negative review on their website, that's how bad they are. 2 stars just because they did their service at least.

No even vague amounts were mentioned would be added nor any specific reasons what they could be were ever listed directly. I heard that it was not completely free this year. I wanted the money to go in my checking account.
I tried to go back a page to edit it but nothing was letting me change the information. I wished I looked up the problem on the web first but I thought the chat bubble was for tech support help such as this glitch. It gave me no answers as to what to do anyway. So, I thought if I just continued and paid that small fee with my checking account, maybe it might just switch over to my chosen institution. Then, I was given a receipt for $129 for some “deluxe” service (by typing in about the technical error!). I didn’t know by merely trying to get out of their own program’s error I would get charged! AVOID this incompetent company. I used them on April 10, 2025. Their representatives gave me terrible advice and don't know anything about taxes. I drove to the Federal building and spoke directly to the IRS and they said Turbo Tax gave me bad advice on my tax situation. They must hire their reps off the street because they don't even know the basics about taxes. A drunken bum sleeping in a trash dumpster would have been more competent than these high school dropouts. A big waste of my time and money. I wouldn't recommend these ** to my worst enemy.

My tax situation changes ever so slightly year to year. Our family income is Social Security and fixed annuities almost exclusively. Therefore it is a copy and paste job for our returns. Easy. TurboTax in the early part of the return process consistently estimated the charges would be about $250 using their “in person service”. When it was all finished the charges were close to $500. This was clearly a case of “bait and switch” tactics, evidencing bad faith on their part. I’m done with using them. Inexcusable.

Last year, TurboTax charged me $160. This year, it's $370+, and I did ALL the work. Are they kidding me? They added on ALL OF THIS EXTRA STUFF that I'm sure I declined. But maybe I missed a checkpoint or two... I got ZERO live help... SCAMMERS!!!!

I have been using TurboTax for years. There have always been some problems because they do not make things easy for some tasks. One thing that I have always had some trouble with was entering my backdoor Roth conversion from my traditional IRA. This year, they have made this process worse. I had my 1099-R form downloaded from my brokerage account. But in the process, they asked me to delete the entries because they need to process it with two separate 1099-R forms, one for the withdrawal from the traditional IRA and one for the conversion to Roth. So, I deleted the downloaded entry.
However, when I followed the new process, it led me to the same place where they asked me to delete the entry and restart with two 1099-R forms. Essentially, it went in circles and never got me out of there. This was very frustrating. I was tired of reentering the same info again and again. So, at one point, I went to my brokerage account and just redownloaded the 1099-R form. Unfortunately, this led to wiping out all my earlier entries from that brokerage account. Worse yet, there seemed no way to reverse the process, and I had to restart everything from the beginning--such a waste of my time! I feel this software is designed by a group of morons. I will definitely try another tax software next year.

Absolute garbage! It won't download, I have to run through the sign in process every 5 minutes. I have been buying this program for over 20 years. I am out! Can't even talk to support. I would give it a zero but the least is a 1.

I wish I could leave a 0 as a review. I will never use TurboTax again. No one in my family will use TurboTax again. None of my friends or Neighbors will use TurboTax again. Turbotax said I owed taxes this year and AFTER I filed I learned that I didn't owe anything. So now I'm out the money I paid the IRS and the money TurboTax charged me. What else is this company missing when they check over your information for "errors"? Buyer beware, file somewhere else. This company is a fraud. They WANT you to have to file so you have to pay them or the big bad IRS will get you.

What absolute garbage! Total rip off! Hopefully IRS will get eliminated and these thieves will get what's coming to them. I hope 2025 is the death of these thieves ripping off the U.S. taxpayer. You should be ashamed of yourselves, how can you live with yourself stealing from the taxpayers?

I paid $430 for full service for her to never respond and my e-file to get rejected. I then got refunded $30 and said do it on my own. They won’t refund the rest because it went directly to Ana ** the full service tax pro I had. She simply declined my calls. Now I have to do all on my own and I’m out $400!!! The picture is Ana ** on Turbo tax so if you're going to use turbo tax at least don’t match with her!!

I tried to use Turbotax for my taxes this year. When the forms were completed it stated I was all done and to submit the payment, which I did. AFTER the payment was submitted Turbotax showed the forms had errors. I corrected the errors and it kept looping me back to the same errors which did not show my changes. I signed out and tried several more times but got nowhere. I ended up going to a tax preparer. I emailed support to request a refund. They denied me.
I am 60 years old on a pension. I could not afford to lose the $137.51 I paid them on top of having to pay the tax preparer. I am a senior and feel defrauded and scammed. It's very convenient for Turbotax to show errors on a return AFTER they are paid. Otherwise I would not have paid them. Also, their software would not accept the changes I made, the original input never changed. Turbotax has a refund policy but does NOT stand behind it.

I've used Turbo Tax for several years, but this year, I went elsewhere. I signed up for the Turbo Tax free tax federal and then you pay for the state. Lo and behold, I get hit with greedy mitts wanting $198. I'm a low income senior and they want half my tax return? NOT! Went to the IRS website and went to one of their free tax partners. Ended up using FreeTaxUSA. It was AWESOME, easy to use and it was -- FREE! I am so done with Turbo Tax and Intuit. Bye.

I paid $700 for the "Full Service" option because I was advised by the "professional" through TurboTax Live that the do-it-yourself product did not have the capability to file the appropriate form to capture a Roth Conversion. Turns out this is false. So $700 later, I had to get my financial advisor to walk the "tax professional" through how to do a Roth Conversion (this was after she skipped 2 appointments, with me and my advisor sitting around waiting for an hour before we gave up) and she still only did it half right, leading to a significant error in reported income that I will now have to have another incompetent "tax professional" file an amendment for. This is assuming I can get one to answer the chat that they are supposed to utilize for communication, as I've currently been ignored for a full week.
So I called the help line, who scheduled an appointment for 10 April with a Manager. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised when they didn't call as scheduled. Absolutely atrocious customer service, competence, and experience. I have been a Turbotax customer for years using the self-service products, however next year I'll do mine on runic papyrus rather than support this company again.

I have been using the online version of TurboTax and paying for it to do my taxes for years. This year, I made a couple of minor adjustments to my federal return, but they were not reflected in my state return. After paying to e-file my returns, an error check caught the mistake. However, the box was grayed out/disabled, and I'm unable to change it to reflect what I entered on the federal return. I'm also unable to go back and file by mail either. It says I already paid to have my returns e-filed. So, I can't go forward and e-file and can't go back and file by mail. I think they want me to upgrade to most expensive product which is totally unnecessary. Just fix your programming glitch would you?!!!!

I used TurboTax in the past and the process was easy and came at a good price, not anymore. DO NOT USE TURBO TAX. This year the cost rose significantly and the process was NOT easy. The app was chock-full of glitches and never ending security checks/log ins. I could have had my taxes done for half the price and a lot less bull crap. Not to mention it took hours and hours to do online. Stay far, far away from turbo tax. Give your money to a local tax preparer instead.
