Is there a class action lawsuit against them yet? I had to search to find a place to review them. I signed up for a very inexpensive plan. Suddenly, they charged me $184 for what I assumed was a YEARLY subscription. I ONLY use this for keeping up with receipts and got the least expensive plan. They just charged me another 184 when I realized they had cheated me. I want to know what salesman is signing people up for fake memberships and fees in order to increase their commission. I want to sign up for a class action lawsuit. Anyone in?

If I could have given a minus 5 I would have given it. For two weeks I tried to get the program set up with no results. I also requested an option to provide direct deposit to our contractors and was set up with a $50.00 a month program which did nothing for us as we do not take deductions from the contactors, plus we were charged $6 per transaction which we were not aware of. Spent hours on the phone trying to straighten it out and get a refund or at least a partial refund after their rep set up the wrong program. After 2 hours on the phone trying to clarify that, I was told no refunds. It took an additional 45 mins to get the programs cancelled and removed from my computer. It is a complete ripoff. Oh and did I mention all of their reps do not understand what you are trying to say or do as they don't speak English!!! They are a complete ripoff and basically a scheme to get access to your account!! Run don't walk away from this company.

I am extremely disappointed in Quickbooks. It has taken a year for Quickbooks to correct a software issue on the migration to quickbooks online and will not offer a discount or a credit for not being able to use the product. I have paid for 2 different subscriptions for quickbooks so i could keep an accurate accounting. I am now in search of a new software because I cant believe I spent all of that time and money on this product and customer service could not help me. I am done. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Thank you for nothing quickbooks!!!!

I have been using Quickbooks for years and it has steadily gotten worse. The system is inflexible and requires ad hoc manipulation to record normal transactions. 1099 filings which are an extra charge are always inaccurate and fail to tally all payments to a specific vendor. On top of all this, Intuit raises their prices 20-30% EVERY YEAR. Not recommended.

After 1.5 years of using QBO, I'm quitting the platform and going back to QBD. QBO is incomplete at best and often nonfunctional, basically a disaster. The platform is plagued with limited features, fields and links that don't link or de-link, reports with very limited formatting, the list goes on. The last straw was them not filing my payroll taxes properly and taking no responsibility for it. People signing up for QBO without knowing the features of QBD have no idea what they're missing. Intuit has lost a lot of credibility by trying to push a terrible produce on its customers at a high price and false advertising by pushing QBO and making it seem like QBD was going away. In Intuit's pursuit for greed (their QBD fees went up by 6x) they may have inadvertently opened the door for competitors to move in. I will definitely be on the lookout for an alternative for those accounting products for small business.

Suppliers? The above is the missing end in the subject. I have been using QB for over 20 years for my clients. The subscription price increased 300% in the last 2 years from around 800 to 2,500. I did not renew. Intuit cut QB desktop access to historical data. Yesterday, while talking with a supervisor from Intuit Canada, I heard, 'You must pay if you want access to the data.' OK. It is understandable for the price to increase to whatever level they want. Customers can accept the new cost and use QB for future transactions or refuse to pay the higher price and not record new accounting transactions. It is fair. However, the historical data does not belong to Intuit.
I asked a question in this scenario. A business owner has used QB for 15 years. Now, he/she is going to retire. They are obligated to keep records for 6 years. Do they have to pay a subscription for 6 years to have access to their own historical business transactions? The supervisor I asked to speak to ignored the question or just did not have an answer. Or staff is directed by Intuit's higher management to ignore the issue at all. With the above, another question comes up. Is this a market collusion of all small business accounting software suppliers, and government should check their hands?

I’ve been a loyal QuickBooks desktop user for over 15 years, but what Intuit has done to small businesses is one of the greediest moves in corporate America. They effectively held my system hostage, forcing me to migrate to their subpar online platform. The setup process was a complete disaster, taking over a week to sort out due to charges and reversals. I have two businesses, and QuickBooks managed to confuse them, causing even more delays and headaches. Meanwhile, they had no problem immediately charging my credit card.
The online platform is absolute garbage. When my accounts were merged and bank data was imported, it left me with a chaotic, unbalanced mess. To make matters worse, I was talked into paying an additional monthly fee for a "bookkeeper" I struggled to connect with, adding more frustration. After all this, I decided to cancel my accounts—but QuickBooks just kept charging my credit card! Their customer service is outsourced, and trying to resolve anything through their AI assistant is exhausting and unproductive.
To top it off, when I transitioned from the desktop version, my system went dark, leaving me with a year’s worth of data entry lost. I feel disgusted, cheated, and believe Intuit owes me compensation for the countless hours wasted dealing with this nightmare. If you’re a small business owner, RUN from QuickBooks Online. They’ve turned what used to be a reliable product into a greedy, poorly executed cash grab. I’m beyond disappointed.

I wish I could give them less than one star. Ran payroll and they tell me they could not match my EIN with my company name and the account goes on hold. But it looks like I owe them $18,000 because they said that they paid my employees anyway on my behalf because they couldn't pull the funds from my account. Which wasn't the agreement in the first place. Intuit was instructed to debit money from my account to cover the payroll. Which never happened. Intuit never presented payment to the bank. Not even one time. And then I talk to their tier one agents based OCONUS, and they are powerless and give me a totally different story than what I am seeing on their UI. Absolutely insane. Do not recommend to anyone.

I have been a Quicken user for more than 20 years and a QB user since 2018. I am the comptroller for a non-profit. We recently switched to QBO, the cost nearly broke the bank, and it has been nothing but a nightmare. QB desktop was simple to use and provided quick and easy reporting. So simple, even a child could do it. Checks were easy to create, easy to print, reconciling accounts was a piece of cake. QBO is nothing like QB Desktop. I urge you to stay away.
I integrated QBO with Shopify, which enhanced the nightmare. Nothing is easy. I asked a bookkeeper, two accountants, and a CPA for support. They are just as baffled as I am. I have spent countless hours trying to figure out how to track my sales, my expenses, and have everything clear from the clearing account, to no avail. It is frustrating and I'm nearly in tears. What used to take me minutes now takes endless hours and all I'm doing is creating a bigger mess of my books. I'm looking to start anew, with another company. Intuit should be embarrassed that they put such an awful product on the market.

Never use payment links unless you are willing to wait a ridiculous amount of time. I had a client that was going to send a 64k payment with a wire transfer. I offered the QB payment link because I expected to be a 3 day max turnaround. Payment link was sent on the 2nd of Dec. Customer payment was made on the 2nd as well. Now I'm finding out I won't get the deposit till the 10th at the earliest... Look I'm fine a few days delay... But this is ridiculous. We're not talking about a couple hundred bucks here. This is not my first payment link...
I have 2 different companies and have sent plenty of links to know how this works and normal deposit timelines. Their solution was to just wait... LOL! If I reversed the payment link or canceled the transaction they said it could take months before the money is released. Is the mob running Quickbooks? WTH?! VERY unsatisfied with the resolution options of the payment links. BTW, I never leave reviews, I'm just that unsatisfied. Hope that helps someone.

Although starting with Quickbooks was easy and supported, the end was anything but. I decided to use the payroll support, which claims to support all aspects of payroll, including filing federal and state documents, such as W-2s and unemployment. Once I needed to close my business and cancel my subscription, I was told that there would be an additional $150 charge to assist in closing and filing the payroll files for my business. This was not addressed when I signed up for the payroll services and there is no way of waiving this additional charge. It seems that this is one last opportunity for Quickbooks to get some additional money from a closing business, during a time that is already challenging. I will never use quickbooks again for this unethical practice.

We used QuickBooks for 3 years. This year we received a request to be audited from the Texas workforce commission. This is when we discovered that for the past 3 years QuickBooks has failed to fill our contractors' 1099 and 1096. QuickBooks says this is done automatically and it should be as you have to input all contractor info and pay into your app, which we did and can show that we did when we run reports out of the app.
All of the info is there and it shows that the app didn't even generate them let alone send them out. Now after over 5 hours on the phone over this past week with tech support there is nothing that can be done even though it's a failure on QuickBooks side. Now I am on the hook for these penalties even though I paid QuickBooks monthly subscription for service and input all info correctly. QuickBooks says that if there is a failure on there behalf when filling taxes that they will cover the charge but no one on QuickBooks side will acknowledge anything or respond to the escalation of this issue. They are full of crap and need a lawsuit pressed against them which is what we are considering now.

You would not believe what our company has been through in the past 20 years with these crooks. I'm going to sum it up with our latest problem and interaction. In 2021 we had a 1GB company files size and compress it and purge data and it allowed it. QB decided to remove the compression feature and limit the file size to 500MB. So they essentially put a limit on file and commit corporate blackmail for you to get it back!! They literally held our books hostage unless we paid! Not only this but it's always been riddled with software errors so we moved it to a fresh 2022 server and welp, same crap. Wouldn't you know it you can PAY to have them solve the errors they know they've had forever!
They force you to pay to correct their horrible software glitches! Guess what? IT STILL LOCKS UP!!!! In my 20 years of being in my IT position I have never dealt with this crap except Intuit. The people that you speak to are just trained to argue and his excuse was "if your hard drive runs out of space you have to purchase more space". Issues with getting any decent reports being the biggest problem, but for the money it was ok. For a very small business with 8 employees, I was up to 1300 a year for the privilege of using their software. Until September 2024 that is. Since September 30th, they want another $1200 a year for what they call service, updates and backups, which used to be included. I am extremely concerned about QuickBooks' sales practices. Every time I try to call for basic support or assistance with software issues, they constantly try to sell me something I don't need. I initially paid an affordable amount during my first year, but then after that, my cost jumped to $250 per year, and now I’m paying $649 annually for QuickBooks. Unfortunately, the service and support I receive are no longer helpful for my small business.
One specific example of my frustration is when I needed to add a user to my account. I don't have employees, so I just needed to add one user to the network, but QuickBooks convinced me to upgrade, trying to make me pay over $3,000 just to use QuickBooks on my small business network. It’s incredibly frustrating—whenever I try to get help, I feel like I'm just being sold more services I don't need.
Now, when I try to add job costing, they’re telling me it will cost me over $1,000 per year. It’s just too expensive or very small business. They want me to add a receipt to show that I am a verified user but I don't get receipt but this is what I get through email. "Billing reminder Velia **, your annual subscription is going to be renewed. Subscription: Intuit QuickBooks Plus Annual Subscription. Billing date: Nov 30, 2024. Payment method: Credit card **. Estimated renewal amount: $999.00*" :( It seems that I will now have to pay $1000 a year just for the desk top pro subscription. I'm leaving QB.

I've been using Intuit's QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Payments for some time now, and I have to say, the experience has been incredibly frustrating. The decision to implement batched payment deposits has turned what used to be a simple process into a complicated mess. Matching payments to individual invoices is no longer straightforward, leading to confusion and errors in my accounting.
The lack of responsive customer service has only added to my dissatisfaction. When I encounter issues, getting help is often a long and tedious process. It feels like Intuit is more focused on cutting costs than on addressing the needs of their customers, which is disheartening. Navigating the interface can also be a challenge. It seems increasingly unintuitive, making it hard to find the features I need. Tasks that were once quick and easy now require far more effort and time. The integration of QuickBooks Payments with the online platform has also been problematic, with delayed deposits causing cash flow issues. As a small business owner, timely cash flow is crucial, and these delays can have significant repercussions on operations.
Furthermore, Intuit's communication about updates and changes has often been lacking. I frequently feel uninformed about important changes that could affect my workflow. Clear communication is key to maintaining trust, and I believe Intuit has dropped the ball here. In short, my experience with QuickBooks has been disappointing. Quickbooks Online withdrawals money from your account days in advance of making a payment. That’s fine. What is not fine is they will then refuse to make payroll until the money clears on their end. I made payroll tax to the CRA on the 9th of October. They withdrew the money from my account on the 10th. I assume the payment was made to the CRA prior to the due date on the 15th. I submitted payroll today, the 16th, for a pay date of 18th as the 20th lands on a Sunday. Quickbooks would not allow a payroll submission as the tax payment they withdrew from my account had not “cleared” on their end. What right do they have not to allow payroll to my employees? There is money in the account - more than enough to make all payments.
Their “fix” was that I make a wire transfer in the same amount of the tax payment they already withdrew I to their account. Even if I did that I would have to wait a day before trying to submit payroll again which means I am still missing the payroll deadline. I changed everybody to paper cheques but it would still refuse the submission so that I could print them. Out of sheer frustration (having talked with “help” and getting none I am handwriting the cheques. I then tried to change the employees back to direct deposit and all the banking account information for each employee has disappeared. I now have to re-enter each individual’s banking information again. Quickbooks' demanding a wire transfer prior to allowing a payroll submission - I define that as extortion.

I do the general accounting and run payroll. Over all, QBO is a good accounting software that is feature rich and relatively easy to use for a person with knowledge of accounting. However, over the years Intuit has become less customer centered and more profit centered. There have been a few enhancements to the payroll feature over the years. Yet some functions of the payroll system are cumbersome. For example, there is no obvious way to set up or modify pay types or pay deductions. You have to create them at the time you are assigning them to employees. Also, sometimes QBO maps payroll items to GL accounts that it creates without input from me.
The other big negative is how expense the software is. It is no longer economical for small, simple entity. The latest financial hit is that QBO withdraws funds for tax payments days if not weeks before the funds are due to the taxing entities. In other words, they are banking the funds for days and weeks before they pay them out. Given how many customers they have, they will be able to earn interest on large sums of money. I sense the financial people are driving the company, not the product owners. As a result, I recommend this product with reservations.

And not only is the Desktop version higher priced than a CD, they try to get you to go to the online portal, which is absolutely ridiculous. And I DO NOT want my books on an online portal. That should not be the decision of QuickBooks!!!! That's just one more way they want to control everyone. They should be ashamed for what they are doing. Especially those who do not make much money or volunteer their time to do books for Non-Profits, and small business owners trying to make a living, etc. And I am not Paying more money with a monthly subscription than paying for a CD.
I have been using and teaching QuickBooks for over 30 years and I am so disappointed in QuickBooks for what they have become. Why didn't the customer service person let us know there were any problems with our account, they were the ones that set it up, all was good and we've ran payroll a couple times no problem. Now we are in a bind. We are going back to our former payroll processing company.

Collaboration and customer service are nonexistent with this company. Nobody is on the same page. I talked to one person who told me to cancel my merchant account, which I'd been using for 4+ years, because they couldn't figure out why it wasn't working. After over an hour on the phone this representative had me cancel my account and informed me that he would call me in 3 business days, once the cancelation could process, one Monday at 1:00pm and set up a new merchant account for me. Three days later a different Quickbooks rep called me to schedule an appointment to set up my merchant account. I informed her I already had an appointment with the gentleman I spoke with a few days ago, he knows what's going on with everything. She said she didn't know what I was referring to and so I set up an appointment for a couple of days later.
Finally, I got a call to set up my merchant account so I can start invoicing like I have been for the last few years and accepting card payment through an emailed link. I am informed that because I am setting up a new account, I no longer get the same rates/fees as I had before because those were grandfathered in with my old account. So now, instead of my $15.00 cap on AHC transactions that I had had and been using for over 3 years, had been replaced with a 1% fee on all AHC transactions. I am a General Contractor and most of the invoices people pay are $10,000.00 or more which means now instead of paying $15.00 on that transaction I pay $100.00.
The lady who set up my new merchant account, of course, has no idea why the original person I spoke with had me cancel the account in the first place but that there was nothing she could do to help me and nobody she could transfer me to would be able to help figure out why the person had me cancel my merchant account or help me reinstate my original fee structure. It's very suspicious how this all happened, and I will be looking for alternative Accounting software.

As a professional bookkeeper, I do not understand why they have to keep changing or adding more buttons and "ask an expert" tabs in the programs (the expert is the bookkeeper paying intuit for the program) not their in-house bookkeepers that they are trying to siphon away business from us. Every email had a link to upgrade. Guess what? The only option to upgrade to was Quickbooks Online. When I called to upgrade the salesperson told me that the online version could do everything that I needed. Boy was that wrong. I am in the design business, and we have multiple jobs where progress billings are required, where WE have to bill in increments for various stages of design by creating "estimates".
QB Pro 21 would show a column that showed what had been previously invoiced (by percentages & amounts). The online version DOES NOT DO THIS! The only way to find out what is left to bill (per task), is to physically go back and look at previous invoices to find out what has already been billed. This is asinine. How inefficient is this? It was so easy to do in QB Pro 21. My staff and I have spent hours upon hours on calls with tech support only to be told this function is not available. WTH? I was unaware of this before I checked my account and saw where Intuit had debited a previous transaction plus an additional $25 from my account. This was in addition to the 3+% ($52+) fee paid for handling the initial transaction. Intuit asked me to supply proof that there was no fraud on my part as a merchant...Which I did. However, Intuit has refused to supply me with any information. I have no idea if the customer used a stolen card or made up a fraudulent case to keep the merchandise delivered and pay nothing.
Intuit closed the case siding with the customer. To date, I don't know who actually launched the complaint, if it was a stolen VISA card, what the full credit card number is (QB only list the last 4 digits), who the issuing bank of the credit card is, or who handled the case and made the decision. I have been kept in the dark. As the merchant, I am the only person who loses - paying for and shipping merchandise and nearly $80 in fees to Intuit. I have not been able to speak to any of the less than competent people handling this case. They provide no phone number and no documentation. This was a case that VISA should have compensated their customer for, if there was indeed fraud. 2. Most of their Support people know less about their products than their users. They work off a script and try the same methods to solve different problems.
3. Their Services fail constantly and money is missing from their merchant services.
4. Their Software is Very Expensive.
5. Hold Times take forever and there are many toll free numbers that do not work.6. The sales staff pushes very hard to get customers to move to their online version with almost no support and desktop and online have different support people and they are not crosstrained.
7. Your desktop services will not migrate to online. For example if you have merchant services with desktop you will have to reapply for merchant services online. This process can take weeks or even months.8. I normally have to call 8-10 times per problem without getting any help and long hold times.
9. The AI who answers calls will do everything they can not to let you speak to a human and the verification process has to be constantly repeated.
10. Intuit & QB do not accept responsibilities for any of their problems.

Oh my gosh - to be polite. A mess doesn't even describe the frustration. For example I am on my 3rd tech support call in 3 hours with half the time on hold. My blood pressure is up from trying to get the help needed. If they offered me a 1-3 month credit, I'd be slightly appeased assuming the problem was fixed. To save a couple hundred I went with online. BE WARNED, your desktop QB will not transfer, anything progress invoiced will not move over, and online is completely different than desktop, you will have to completely learn all over again a program that is absolutely nothing like the desktop program, while at the same time trying to reconcile what was on your desktop.
If you have multiple jobs going and had progress invoice going, you won't have any of that information available once account is transferred. I promptly responded to the email, provided all the requested information, and even called customer support to ensure everything was in order. The representative assured me that I had done everything necessary and that the issue would be resolved within two days.
Despite these assurances, 15 days have now passed, and the issue remains unresolved. The payment has cleared from my client's account, but I still do not have access to my funds. Every time I call QuickBooks customer service, I am unable to speak with anyone who can actually move the money. The user interface was already horrific. I mean you have to literally stumble across the options you need to operate the thing. And let me make this absolutely clear...the last 9 months I've been able to create an invoice, send it to the client, then receive the payment with the card on file. Now all of sudden that's disappeared. Again, I want to be clear, the option to receive payment is still there, but there's no way to actually process the payment! The stupid button to push the payment through is gone!!!!
Okay, so I wait a day to see if it gets fixed. Nope! Still not there. Alright, let's call customer support, surely they have a solve. Maybe they put that button in a totally obscure place (this is the norm for this company by the way), NOPE! I get on the phone with a customer support person, who literally looks at my screen and goes, "I don't know why the options is not there". I tried Safari, Firefox, Chrome, cleared my cache, nothing works.
So I think, okay I'll just have my client pay the invoice on his end (he's never had to do that by the way, and it makes me look REALLY unprofessional, luckily he's a great guy). A month passes, I submit an invoice like I normally do and, I can't believe it, they still haven't fixed this problem. So basically, I've moved on. This company just wants you to signup for a bank card so they can use your money. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH INTUIT QUICKBOOKS. I literally see an option to do exactly what I want in stripe. My experience: 1) No ability to have multiple windows open so if you need to cross check things, gotta close one window, completely specify the other window you were working on and "remember" what you saw on the other screen, 2) it uses browser cache, which not infrequently just gets hosed and large portions of the product just stop working altogether -- solution, start a new session in a new browser WINDOW (not tab), 3) If you are a speed typer, forget the quickpick option for accounts, classes and customers -- the response time is slow and if you tab out of the field before it has resolved your type ahead, it either chokes giving you an error message or wants you to create a "new" account code, class or customer/vendor.
OMG, my ability to work with the product is at least 50% slower than with the desktop version. Only reason I switched was for multi-user access, but I can't even consider delegating even report views to another person knowing what a nightmare this is.

That means now customers I used to bill and get the money the next business day I won't see for up to a week after it's billed out. There is no way I am going to let Quickbooks sit on my money for a week and make interest off it in their banks especially after the numerous cost increases to the platform and to transactions ran through Quickbooks.
I used to pay 50 cents to run an ACH Debit then they added a $10 max fee, now a $20 max fee, and just a couple weeks ago put this garbage in place. No way should any business owner put up with this. My experience with QuickBooks has been nothing short of a nightmare. I encountered an issue with the payroll setup due to an error on QuickBooks' side, and their support team advised me to cancel the setup. I was explicitly assured by their support representative that canceling the process would not result in any additional credit checks. However, to my shock and dismay, I discovered multiple hard credit checks on my credit report after following their advice. When I confronted QuickBooks support about this, they informed me that each direct deposit application triggers a credit check and that these checks are irreversible. This is a complete contradiction to the information I was initially given, where I was assured there would be no further checks. Furthermore, I was informed that our payroll threshold should have exempted us from any credit checks in the first place.
The support representatives have proven to be utterly incompetent, providing misleading and incorrect information. Their failure to resolve this issue or even acknowledge their mistake is deeply concerning. It's clear that QuickBooks has no regard for the impact their actions have on their customers' credit ratings and overall financial health. Despite reaching out multiple times, their response has been dismissive and unhelpful. They merely reiterated their policies without taking any responsibility for the misinformation provided by their own support team. This lack of accountability and transparency is unacceptable for a company handling sensitive financial data.
I strongly advise anyone considering QuickBooks to think twice. Their deceptive practices and inadequate support have caused significant damage to my credit score, and their refusal to rectify the situation speaks volumes about their customer service standards. If QuickBooks does not take immediate and appropriate action to resolve this matter, I will escalate this issue to the credit bureaus, the Better Business Bureau, and any other relevant authorities to ensure they are held accountable for their actions. Save yourself the trouble and look for a more reliable and customer-focused alternative to QuickBooks. This experience has been a clear indicator of their lack of professionalism and respect for their customers.

I have been using them for a little over a year, and one morning I tried to login into QuickBooks and my account was deleted. I called them to figure out the problem. All they could tell me is that it was a business decision and I could no longer use their payment service. I had $5000 in my Quickbooks account. I’m still waiting for my money. They are holding the money so they have interest-free money and they are hurting small businesses that rely on the cash flow. Upon calling the customer service, I was informed that it was a system-generated error and that my account would be reopened. However, after several weeks passed without any update, I called again and was told that my account had been closed based on a QuickBooks review. I am grateful that I only had $50 in the account, which I had opened to test the service before transferring a larger amount, as I had read negative reviews online. I was told that I would not be able to retrieve my money and that I cannot dispute the decision. If your bank has 3 fields to log in, you cant sync it (wouldn't be a big deal, but they won't show you your bank accounts on the main page unless its synced). I currently have an acct with QB. If you are starting your own business and are looking for a platform for bookkeeping stay away from quick books. Scammers were able to log into my acct and change my bank account to another acct and made invoices under my business and charge all this invoices. Quick books call me after a couple of days and said that somebody change my acct and committed fraud quick. People that were charge got refunded by their credit card companies but quick books told me that I am liable for all those invoices. It's about 60k. They told me that in 28 days somebody was going to call me to make a settlement on the money, money that I believe I had no responsibility since scammers were able to go in their system and change my acct without my consent. Quick books before I could make payment arrangements quick books decides to charge my acct and literally left my business with no money.
I call them and they said that there is nothing that they can do. They have no security measurements to save the merchant if you want to be vulnerable from scammers and be in danger of being liable for fraud under your business cause it could happen to anybody but qb takes no measurements to protect your acct. If you want to make a right choice stay away from QB. Quick books told me that it was going to take 28 days for the settlement to go through and then we can see how we can make payment arrangements. Quickbooks told me that my billing was active so I started doing my normal day to day business. I made a charge of around 4k and I notice that there was a message on my platform and it said that the charge was cancel. I call quick books and they said that the card was decline but the customer was a friend so I call the customer and ask if he was charge and he said he did.
He sent me a screen shot and I presented quick books with it and they gave me the same answer that the card was decline but what they were doing is pocketing my transactions for supposedly the invoices that the scammers did under my acct. Long story short stay away from qb that way it does not happen to you. PS I call today and quick books told me that what happen to me happens to a lot of people and they seem to be ok with it.

DO NOT USE QB! I had 3 Quickbooks online accounts for my businesses. I have canceled them all for the following reason. My oldest account was set up by a former CPA firm I used. Years later, I started getting a bill from QB for the "merchant account" that the CPA set up which was associated with the QB account. I canceled the merchant account immediately by contacting QB. Suddenly, my business QB Checking account was placed on HOLD status.
It has been almost two months and no one from QB can release my funds or give me straight answers. I've been lied to and misled by several reps. I finally broke through their human firewall and got a supervisor on June 20, 2024 who admitted the reps did not know how to escalate the case properly to get the hold released. It is still not released. I am again being given the runaround.
The latest rep today (6-26-2024) told me, "Once your case has been escalated, there is absolutely no one in the entire company to speak with. No one has the authority to speak with the escalation department." This is absolutely unbelievable that QB can hold my funds - and the funds of multitudes of others per my research - without any reason given and no time frame. In January 2024, we acquired a QuickBooks Online account and were contacted by an account manager who negotiated various benefits with us. She assured us that if we were unhappy with QuickBooks, we would receive a full refund. She also promised to reimburse us for an overpayment, as we initially received only an 80% discount instead of the promised 50% discount. We waited for a week and received the 30% reimbursement. However, according to their policy, we could apply for a refund within 30 days if we were dissatisfied. Despite numerous complaints to customer service, we received no satisfactory assistance, leading us to cancel our subscription and request a full refund.
QuickBooks charged us $75 for "Subscription conversion to RSG" (Original invoice: **, issued 04-Mar-24, VAT: 220-161-440) and refunded $92.54 for "Billing credit" (Original invoice: **, issued 04-Apr-24, VAT registration number: **).
Here is the detailed breakdown of our transactions:
Initial charge: $287.28 (discounted price of 30% from the original price)Refund: $82.08 (overpayment to meet the 50% discount)
Charge: $75.11 (Subscription conversion to RSG) (we were not notified that they will charge our credit card for it)
Refund: $92.54 (Billing credit)
Despite these transactions, we have not received the full refund of $205.20 as per their 30-day refund policy. I have added extra apps to accommodate all the items that QB online doesn't offer so now it is costing me more money. Intuit, as a company, is able to, AND does collect immense amounts of information about your personal financial picture, and you are kidding yourself if you think they don't sell it and/or use that information for their own profit. Quickbooks online is a total scam. Not only is it a useless bag of garbage, but it gives these crooks access to ALL of you sensitive personal data like access to your checking accounts, credit card accounts, they know where you work, your SSN, how much you make, family members, the car you drive, what subscriptions you have. They literally have a camera lens into your life.
To confirm this I set up a "fake" account with these crooks as a "trial" where I wasn't supposed to be charged, but of course they charged me for 3 months before I could finally convince them to cancel a subscription I never wanted anyway. Then there's credit karma... We all want to know what our credit scores are and if our credit could be hacked. I used the service until I figured out that intuit bought it. Then I dropped it like a hot potato. Do the smart thing and cancel ANY subscription you might have that has anything to do with intuit.

I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY, especially for small business owners.
I received a transaction from a client and was charged a 3% processing fee. I suspected that this was a bit higher than normal, so I put a stop payment on the merchant fees. I later spoke with QuickBooks and learned that it was indeed their fee, so I removed the stop payment the next day. This happened on the 15th. I spoke with a representative and informed them that I had removed the stop payment and that they could go ahead and remove the funds from my account, the same account that has been on file for three years. They have been taking the merchant fees automatically. They said I would receive an email or some type of correspondence concerning this matter. I received none.

I was so upset that I cried countless days over this because I was talking to them for hours a day for a month and a half and nothing was getting done. It took up so much of my time and mental energy.
Wow. Especially the live assisted bookkeeping. I have legit spoken with 20+ people on bookkeeping: No one knows anything. Everyone says I don't know.... Or they tell you wrong things. If you know they are wrong, you are in luck. They say all sorts of different things (they don't know) and you can't tell what's true or untrue. For example, someone had me make a bunch of categories, and then the next person was like no get rid of them, the next next person would be like let's create something else somewhere else.. Ah I don't know...
This is what they do when they can't answer the most basic questions: "This is not a bookkeeping question, talk to an accountant." The question was literally, "Hi, how can I categorize this? Hi, how do I record inventory cost into quickbooks? Hi, how do I literally reclassify this tech wise?... How do I use this feature, or that feature?" Okay then I also stupidly signed up for Intuit Turbotax Live assisted bookkeeping at the same time. I spoke with another 20+ and they didn't know either!! They are like these are bookkeeping questions talk to bookkeepers. Literally one woman accountant there said, "I can't do bookkeeping questions because I'll lose my job!" OK. She couldn't answer any of the accounting jobs either. Wow, I don't want to wish ill on anyone but I almost said out loud to her, you should lose your job because you don't know a thing!
What a show. Between the countless people I talked to on TurboTax and Quickbooks Online Support and Quickbooks Bookkeeping, I didn't get any questions answered and wasted a bunch of my time. Like I said, this took up a majority of a month and a half until I gave up. I beat my head on the wall too many times. I just lost the money there and had to get out.
So don't do Turbotax Live Assisted Plan either. You will regret it!!! They will make your brain+mind spin in a thick mud of not being able to get the most basic questions answered. We are an extremely small business. If they are like this with us, no one is going to benefit from this. No one knew. Which meant I spent all of March and days in April so far to talk to so many of them and no answers to any of my questions. I am hiring a legit bookkeeper. I wasted money on this stupid live assisted thing and now I'm paying more.
Oh, quickbooks online - there are things that should definitely work but don't. Like, say I misclassify 50 transactions (which can happen), now there is no way to reclassify 50 transactions at once. You literally have to click each transaction one by one to move it. It takes a very very long time. Say by mistake you misclassified 500 because you were confused about a category. Good luck!!
It's just crazy. Oh, and I had to redo the whole categorization again 4 times. That is redo the whole thing 4 times from scratch. At they end they were like, we don't know what's wrong, your bank accounts can't be connected without duplicates blah blah might be a tech thing and had me make an entirely new account and I had to do the bookkeeping all over because data couldn't be transferred. I'm like What the...
Intuit does a ton of marketing and you think they might be the best, but they are not only not the best, but the worst!! Just writing this makes my blood boil. Do yourself a big favor, and avoid Quickbooks Live Assisted (or I'm sure full service won't be different) Bookkeeping or Turbotax. I wish either Quickbooks Bookkeeping go out of business OR they repent and train their so called bookkeepers and accountants properly. Please train or hire competent people.
I am just so upset, so angry about this whole thing. My brain is fried because I had to self study on YouTube and on the internet and learn everything myself because they didn't know bookkeeping or accounting 101. I thought, if I keep going with this service I will not get it done ever, I already wasted so much time, need to get out to keep myself sane. I hope everyone reads this because I'm writing this from the bottom of my heart. Just don't go there. Don't do it. This is the longest review I've written in my life, but I really want to tell consumers that this made me throw up (I literally did, no lying), so avoid.

I HAVE BEEN A QuickBooks desktop user for 30 years. I was faced with the decision to move to the online version because they had discontinued the POS software, and we were highly encouraged by the online version of this product. This was a big mistake. The online version is like QB 25 years ago. It is very antiquated and very difficult to navigate; the option for reports and the ease of performing tasks as simple as a printing check is made difficult. The online help is unhelpful. I spoke with a rep about my bar scanner and if I would be able to continue using this with my product sales; of course, the sales rep said yes, and now they wanted me to add on an App for another 160 per month. I have been on the helpline and called 6 times regarding this matter, and no one seems to really know the product very well. It is a scam. DON'T DO IT.

It is a bummer that I have to leave one star. If you ever have to contact customer support, prepare to be very disappointed. You will not have your question answered after being on the phone for an hour, will have to submit a case, and won't hear from them for 2 and a half months, and will get an email that isn't really fixing anything, that gives you 24 hours to respond, and that says "In an effort to provide timely resolution, the case will be closed if the information has not been provided after the given time/period and taxes will be recorded manually."
I think that 10-15 years ago, QB was ahead of its time and was working to help small business owners. Now, it is a giant corporate conglomerate that is in the 'milking phase'. They have great people hired in the US for their sales department, but their customer support is elsewhere and plagued with bureaucracy, so that they can't really help you. Because they want to make more money, they are moving away from their desktop platform, so everything is on the cloud and so they can charge you each month.
However, this is not the time tested software that they were giving out 10 years ago on the desktop version. This is a new software that is buggy, and will be for a long time as long as they choose cheap workers over quality workers. It might work for the basics, but if you ever anticipate not understanding it or entering something wrong and wanting help, look elsewhere, and the chances of you finding something better are quite high.

I could find them if I looked for them, but I couldn't seem to get them included in any reports. Slso, the income was way too high. I was having a terrible time figuring out the problem. I called customer service to get help. They had me "uncheck" a bunch of boxes with no explanation why. When the report numbers looked more realistic he asked if he could help with anything else. Gee, I don't know...Help me with the over $7,000.00 in uncategorized expenses I now have? How did unchecking boxes fix the problem in any way? My husband made me a spreadsheet and I had to start the entire year over from scratch. I would give them 1/2 of a star if possible.

I enrolled in the Quickbooks accounting services to provide extra help with my business. Every time I called, I had a different person who gave me a different answer. I needed help transferring my QB Desktop to online. The payroll part of it doesn't come through automatically. So I had to hand enter everything from Jan through Sept. It took hours! Every time I called to get help, they said I needed to call the payroll side. When I called the payroll side, they said I needed to call the general help side. I finally gave up and cancelled the accounting end of it, but still kept the bookkeeping side that I managed. Then out of the blue, I get a letter from IRS stating that I owe 11,000. When I called, they said Nicole from QB sent that info in. So I tried to call "Nicole" but conveniently she was not available. I spoke with Icee and she stated that I hadn't paid taxes from 3 certain months.
I told her those were all in desktop, they should have come through but she said they didn't. I dug through all my records and was able to find proof that everything was paid. I just now called back to see if they would reverse what they had sent in. After going rounds with AU, I asked REPEATEDLY to speak with a manager. They ALL happened to be in a meeting. They will not let you speak with anyone other than themselves. She then told me that I DIDN'T owe 11,000, even though they told the IRS I did. Please for the love of God, do not frustrate yourself with this company. They have cost me so much money and time trying to get things straightened out.
They were also late on a payment which cost me 118.00 in late fees, but would not take responsibility for. I started with them in Sept. 15th, the payment was due Sept 30th and they basically said too bad. It's so sad that the customer service is so horrendous. I do love the convenience of it, but absolutely not worth it with all the incompetent people that I have gotten to speak with.

I have 4 employees so that adds about$175 per year. So $1500 a year for a software I hardly use. I'm stuck because it is what my accountant uses. I only need it for payroll and as a digital check register. Customer service is outsourced and hard to understand. If you can get a human. We started using QuickBooks a month or so ago strictly for their invoicing. Their fees were cheaper than Stripe and they offered reminders for past due invoices which I liked. I had sent out our first invoice on March 1st for $3932.02. Our customer paid the invoice through the QuickBooks invoice and the money was deposited into our bank account. The next day I get an email stating that the customer's bank account cancelled the transaction and that they would be taking the money back out of our bank account. (This is normal, and I understand this.) Our customer contacted me apologizing and explained that their bank account has a debit block that she did not catch. I sent her another invoice through QuickBooks for the $3932.02 and she contacted her bank approved the debit block and allowed the payment to go through. (She even paid the extra $10 for the return check fee).
This went through on March 6th and was in a 3-5 business day hold. Then on March 8th I received an email from QuickBooks stating my QuickBooks Payments account has been closed and if I did not do this to call them. When I called them, the support member told me that QuickBooks no longer wants us as a customer and they chose to close our account. That is fine, but they are holding the $3932.02 and will not return it to our customer or deposit it in our account.
We were told today they can hold it up to a year!!! They said we need to contact our customer and have them dispute the payment to get the money back. The problem is, since she had approved the debit block and allowed the payment to go through, they won’t return it. Now as a small business owner who switched to QuickBooks to save a few dollars, QuickBooks is keeping what is 2 months mortgage worth of our money for what they say could be up to a year. This has to be illegal. Oh and they will not send an email stating any of this. They said it is against their policy. So for all our customer knows, we took their money and want them to pay again.

Quickbooks cares more about making money for its business than helping me make money for mine.
1. Quickbooks technical support has been horrible since the first time I needed it. I have NEVER had a good experience with it and often my experiences have been very poor. For example, on December 1, 2021, I was on the phone (in 2 separate calls) with technical support for 3 hours & 54 minutes just to figure out how to add a logo and project / job name to invoices. Even the cancellation phone call I had with technical support (on 12/27/2023) was bad. I had tried to figure out how to cancel my subscription online but ran into problems. All I wanted from technical support was to have them walk me through how to cancel the subscription but the representative was more interested in trying to sell me more services. The contentious call took 25 minutes and should have taken 10.
2. Intuit is more interested in its business than mine. Every pop-up or email I've received from Intuit has been geared toward getting me to move to Quickbooks online - which would cost me more money (I used Desktop Premier). Only during the cancellation phone call did I find out there is a version of QB that may have been better suited to my small business.
3. QB is not intuitive and there are too many ways to input the same information. This leads to a greater possibility of making mistakes. Doing simple tasks is cumbersome.
4. The online information about how to use QB is difficult to find for the version of QB I used, and often poorly described once found. Most online articles (authored by Intuit) are geared toward QB Online because that’s the one size Intuit thinks should fit all. Once again, Intuit cares more about making its business profitable than helping my business become more profitable.
5. Finally, QB just announced that it is increasing my subscription to $950 which is a massive increase in one year of about 10%. In theory this is to cover costs of "improvements" - which are not really improvements, just changes - and to cover the costs of technical support which is ridiculously horrible (see item #1 above). I started out using a desktop version which was loaded onto my PC and static. This worked well for my small business but I was forced to endure a subscription with an annual fee. I did NOT receive better service from Intuit or a better version of Quickbooks - just a costlier one. Once again, QB cares more about making its own money than helping me make mine. The cost increase at the end of 2023 was the straw that broke this camel's back. Why pay a lot of money for a bloated application with terrible technical support? Good riddance Quickbooks!

Everything is hit or miss with them. Tell them your problem. After 3 long, arduous hours with this bottom level agent, he said he fixed it. After the next payroll, he apparently didn't. Call back and ask for an agent that is higher credentialed. They put you on hold and don't come back. 35 minutes go by and I call back. I tell the agent my experience and we get disconnected and he doesn't call back. I call a third time, I am in the wrong department so now I am on hold for 11 minutes waiting to get to the right department. This is the worst customer support on the planet.

I run a small specialty business and know nothing about bookkeeping. I thought that hiring QB Live Bookkeeping would make my books better since I didn't really know how to categorize expenses correctly. Wow! I had to do all of the work. All they did was produce Balance Sheets and P&L reports, which are so easy to produce, and ask me if they were correct. Essentially, I had to go through line by line and check that every thing was categorized correctly. If I knew how to do that, I wouldn't have needed them!
Also some items needed fixing, and I couldn't figure out how to fix them. QBLB never fixed those items. I had to figure out how to fix them myself. Some I never did figure out. Besides having to do all of the work and figure out where all of the errors were, the interface is so cumbersome, it multiplied the wasted time by a factor of 3 or 4. In over 2 years I never received a correct report on time! This is 100% a process problem. IntuitQB has not figured out an effective process yet.

This allows one to put away money to an assigned envelope within the checking account for accrued expenses such as taxes or registration fees. We have not been able to access this money since September of 2023 - it is a total of about $8700.00. Quickbooks says it is a "Greendot" issue - the bank associated with Quickbooks checking.
When we contact GreenDot, they say the money has been "permanently blocked" but cannot give us any reason or recourse. We have asked to escalate the issue but they say there is no one else to talk to. We have contacted both Intuit Quickbooks and Greendot over 27 times attempting to get our money from OUR checking account. Customer service is always somewhere overseas and only reads from a script. I am convinced Quickbooks is a complete sham. I am a modest consumer that was trying to operate a business, and now I have no one to contact to remedy this situation. We've been using Quickbooks Desktop for many years and have been able to associate invoices and bills with customer jobs without issue. We bought a 2020 Desktop for Mac version about four years ago for ~$200 and used it until the Sonoma OS update rendered it inoperable a month ago. At that time, QB website did not show any desktop version and all communication with support indicated we needed to "upgrade" to online Essentials. While I expected a price increase to do the same things, I was not prepared for the 1,300% increase to $650/yr versus $50/yr. After voicing my displeasure and looking for alternatives, I finally decided that I would just bite the bullet rather than deal with mapping data to a new accounting platform and going through the learning curve.
After some difficulty, Quickbooks eventually migrated our data to an Essentials online account. After working for a few hours updating payments, deposits and credit cards, I discovered that we could no longer create jobs. I spent more hours doing research and communicating with QB migration and tech support only to discover that Essentials is inferior to my 4-year old desktop version and will not manage jobs. Similarly, all the migrated job and billing entries were miscategorized as "sub-customers" and "unbilled customer expenses".
After multiple contacts, QB says that I need to upgrade AGAIN to Plus or Advanced in order to have job cost capabilities (now called projects). Of course that comes with another price increase to $1,080/yr - over 2,100% price increase over my desktop version. The forced/extorted obsolescence, bait-and-switch application tactics and ridiculous price gouging of small businesses (supposedly their target customer group) seem criminal. Everyone, with the exception of one person, has been evasive, dismissive and completely useless in resolving these issues.

They fronted a company I just started working for $7,400 on an invoice I sent them. Come to find out it was all a scam and now Quickbooks is trying to come after me for the invoice. This was the first invoice I had sent to someone and had them pay. I get an authorization code from Quickbooks that the invoice was paid. I assume it's paid, right? WRONG, I use the funds to pay the company's bills and now QB is trying to come after me for the money? I never asked you to put funds into my account. I filed a police report, provided them a case number, and they just don't care. I was just on the phone with them for an hour with an uninterested person. I actually think QB is working with the scammers. Why would you just front a company you don't know money? And, the bigger questions is, why don't they want to help me? How can they as a platform just allow their customers to be scammed. They should of never put the funds into my account until they captured the funds, right? I cannot believe they have allowed this to happen to me. Being a new company, I would of never used funds that I knew wasn't available. Quickbooks as a company, should take this as a loss.

TLDR: A funny story of how my life got flipped upside down, because QBs Online is the worst company I've had the pleasure of doing business with. This one's a doozy! Started working the on an issue with them at 12:14pm today and finished at 3:58pm only because I lost all hope in humanity, civilization, and life itself. All jokes aside, Quickbooks Online Plus + Payroll is an absolute joke. I have an employee that could not access his Workforce, account, so I resent the link for him to create an account again. Workforce is the partner company that handles their payroll system. The link crashed his Outlook. Thought hey, maybe it's his computer or email, so I tried the link I get every two weeks for my payroll. Crashed my email 3 times.
Decided to contact support via phone call, boy was this a mistake. The first two people told me I needed to contact Workforce directly. The first person gave me a phone number to call. I even read it back to him for confirmation. Awesome. Call the number and it's a scam number demanding my credit card information. Hang up and call QuickBooks back. I explained the previous situation to the gal and she stated that she needed to send me a link for me to chat with a person and the phone number I was given before was not correct and I should call a new number. Again, I read it back to her for confirmation. Call this number and wouldn't you know it, it's another scam number demanding my credit card info. It's just getting good!
Call QuickBooks back again and explain the situation back to her. Including being given two scam phone numbers. Here, we have the only person in this whole story who was helpful and gave me correct information. She also told me that they just had a company announcement stating that Workforce does not have a phone number and they can only be reached by the link to the chat feature. I politely finished expressing my displeasure with the situation, she sent me a link to leave feedback, and I bid her adieu. Great Gal. Should be CEO. Don't worry, stories almost over!
Finally a glimmer of hope as I begin my chat with the gal at workforce. I explain the situation in it's entirety. We go back and forth just to get her the information to find the account. This took 30 minutes and she was not the quickest. No worries, she's likely servicing other customers at the same time. Then for 10 minutes, she kept suggesting I use the link to reset the login info and each time I told her how it crashed his email every time we tried that, no matter how many times I resend him the link. She then suggests that we try to use a different email for the employee. I figure, it's worth a shot.
So I get up from my desk and walk to my employee's office to ask him if he has another email. He's 62 years old and doesn't use an email other than our work one. His wife runs their joined email. We call her to get the information and I return to my desk. The workforce lady closed the chat. Guys, I could have punched a hole through a 20 foot thick concrete wall and steamed 18 bags of frozen broccoli in my ears.
So this concludes, without a doubt in my mind, the most frustrating 3 hours and 44 minutes of my life. I had to give up before I lost any more brain cells. For anyone wondering, I was completely professional and respectful to each person I was working with. Honestly, whether or not you believe that, I don't care. QuickBooks Online is awful, a scam, a waste of time. Not just this situation, but QuickBooks Online is not user friendly, the pop up windows within it are a pain, navigation is the worst, and their employees are uninformed and incompetent. Besides the one gal I worked with, she was great. CEO material. I left that in her feedback too. Lastly, the worst part, should you ever decide to move to a different accounting software, QuickBooks Online does not allow you to export any information. You're locked in for life. Anywho, This concluded today's TED Talk.

We have been attempting to add a new user for over two weeks now. Typically, the self-service system sends a verification link to the user when setting them up. The user clicks the link and is able to then create a password, etc. Since our first attempt, we've been on several support calls for hours with no resolution. We've had to call in because their help desk gives us this response: "I’m having some technical difficulties right now. But we probably have an article that can help you!"
We've walked through all of the usual basic steps: check our licensing, clearing browser cache & cookies, deleting then re-adding the user, using different browsers (even mobile) - to no avail. The link simply does not work. On the support call today, we were told there will be a resolution on September 22nd. That's four weeks without our user being able to perform their duties.

A Loyal Customer's Plea: QuickBooks Online's Declining Support and Unannounced Changes. We've been steadfast customers of Intuit QuickBooks Online since 2012, and Advanced-level QBO users since 2016. Over the years, we've witnessed the platform's evolution, and while there have been many positive strides, our recent experiences have left us deeply disappointed.
In July 2023, without any prior notice or explanation, QuickBooks Online disabled the Time and Expense Entry option for new employees/users. This abrupt change not only disrupted our operations but also left us scrambling for answers. Since then, we've reached out to their customer support over seven times, dedicating more than 2 hours on each call, hoping for a resolution. Each interaction has been a repetitive cycle of trying the same workarounds, being reassured with promises of fixes in the "next scheduled update", only to be met with continued inaction.
The most disheartening part is the realization that we've invested tens of hours on support calls, only to be taken through the same ineffective steps, time and time again. It's as if there's a script that's being mindlessly followed, without any genuine intent to address the underlying issue. Paying over $2,600 annually, one would expect a certain level of professionalism and consideration. However, QuickBooks Online's approach of unilaterally removing or disabling crucial functionalities without informing its loyal customers is not just unprofessional but also deeply unethical. It's a stark contrast to the service standards we once admired. We pen this review with a heavy heart, hoping that potential users tread cautiously and that QuickBooks Online re-evaluates its approach to customer service. It's disheartening to see a platform we once championed become a source of endless frustration.

I have been on chat with support over five sessions, each about three hours. Support upgraded me to Desktop Pro 2023. Same issue. They had me send files which they reviewed and found no discrepancies. They ran utilities, turned off my virus protection, et al. QuickBooks Support admitted that multiple customers have been experiencing this. I can access only one account of the three, which means I am locked out of invoicing, billing, and tax reporting, which is costing me thousands. The case has been open for three weeks. Support admits to having no solution yet. QB does not port to other solutions. I am collecting names for a class action lawsuit. QB already admitted the outage is affecting numerous customers.

I am so happy to find this website "ConsumerAffairs" because it feels like anything bad about a product is scrubbed from the internet. I am livid about the lack of support or transparency about technical issues with QB Desktop, and so I am overjoyed that I get to express my dissatisfaction with Intuit. I guess if a company chooses to end support for a product, that is their right. But to leave people like me spending endless hours trying fix problems is "heartless". Starting back in September 2022, Intuit and Chase bank had some kind of financial dust up, which ended up with Intuit changing the whole bank feed process. The new way of connecting the Desktop product resulted in me missing multiple transactions on every account (I was not getting transactions downloaded to my accounts). So the #1 reason I use financial software is to manage my bank balances. Isn't this the #1 issue for everyone?
If the bank says I have $40k in an account, but QB says I have $10k, I am in big trouble. This makes QB practically worthless to me. So now I can't rely on the product to accurately tell me my bank balances. Unless you have lots of extra funds in your account to cover for the discrepancies, relying on QB will have you bouncing checks left and right. After so many many phone calls to technical support, I've just come to the conclusion that they don't want to support QB Desktop. But instead of announcing this, their plan is to just let people get fed up that they abandon Desktop. I really loved using QB Desktop. I think most of the support staff is in the dark about this as well. Because I have not been able to find a comparable product, I just gave up and migrated over to Online Essentials (Funny that Online Essentials doesn't see to have a problem with missing transactions from Chase bank!).
So now I have accurate balances with the Online version. But there are so many things the Online version doesn't do! For example, I just spent 4 hours with tech support asking how can I import a list of 45 employees to my check register. Desktop allowed me to create an iif file and import it. The result is I have the date, check number, employee name and net paycheck amount in my register, which then matches up perfectly as a cleared check when I connect to Chase.
After 4 hours with tech support, the tech people finally said, "the online version doesn't do this". This is really really sad for a couple of reasons: 1) tech support wasn't able to tell me this feature wasn't available. It took them 4 hours to figure this out??? and 2) It's not a big technical issue to import a file. QB allows you to import a bank statement, but not other files? QB management just doesn't care! It is so easy to provide this option. Bottom line I have concluded is "they just do not care". Not sure if we can shame them into responding, but management deserves a big fat ZERO rating. They have ruined all the goodwill from me. I hope somebody with an ethical backbone buys the company. But again, I'm somewhat happy to see that I'm not alone in my frustration! Keep posting everyone!!!!

To all small businesses do not hire Quickbooks live Bookkeeping. This is how they operate. They will ask you to pay $200 a month for Bookkeeping. They will delay your books by 2-3 months so you have to pay in advance 3 + months ahead of time. They will not provide you any financials for your books until 1 year later you will have to get a extention to file taxes. So the first month you sign up. They will delay it out 3 months then turn it into 20 months. Of paid $200 a month services. If you stop your subscription they will refuse to provide you any books for 20 months. This is what happens. I signed up in January 2022. I paid $200 every month the bookkeeper is always 3 months behind. So that's an extra $600 I paid. Now today is August 23rd 2023. They are still delaying my 2022 books and still never received my tax package for last year.
I canceled my subscription Aug 2023 because they are not sending me any financials for 2022. And now they are stating since I canceled my subscription they cannot work on my books at all or provide me my LAST YEAR financials. I have videos confirming all bank statements were received by QuickBooks and they still refuse to send me my financials until I resubscribe to the service. Because I already paid for them. They never provided me any financials for 2022 and 8 months in 2023. Meanwhile the bookkeeper is in receipt of all my financials. They refuse to send me my books from 20 months ago. They want me to continue to pay $200 in advance to be 20 months behind.
This is fraudulent. To intentionally delay the books by 20 months to keep collecting $200 for Bookkeeping service. This is a scam. To make small businesses pay $200 in advance $200 x 20= $4,000 I paid and now QuickBooks is saying because I won't continue to pay 20 months in advance they cannot provide any financials because I need to have a active current subscription in order to receive anything. This is a scam. Why would small business pay $4,000 receive no services then get demanded by quickbooks to continue to pay $200 just so they can delay it 3 more months to continue collecting money for services. They tell you it's $200 a month in Bookkeeping but small business beware.
They tell you $200 but they delay your taxes by 1-2 years to keep collecting the $200. And if you cancel after paying in advance for 2 years they will refuse to send you any financials I got scammed. I have paid 20 months of books and quickbooks refuses to send me any documents because I do not have a active subscription. So they want me to pay $500 reactivation fee plus $200 more per month and now we are 2 years behind. Consumer affairs legal needs to be aware of what's happening. Quickbooks is defrauding small business.

I don't seem to recall having made any inquiry to you or Quickbooks as we have not used your services since January of 2023 due to the revelations that we were rather suddenly made aware of concerning your company's business practices in support of criminal activity. You see, at the beginning of the year we found ourselves in the middle of an ACH money laundering scam that cost our small business upwards of about thirty thousand dollars (about $15k directly from our QuickBooks account). There was absolutely NO attempt to contact your paying customer (ME) of the situation, other than an email that blended in with all other email notifications received from your product, which doesn't count as a reasonable attempt to notify.
Before we (your paying customer) were given the opportunity to make our case in an attempt to stop payment back to the criminal who disputed the ACH after we had shipped his product and he took delivery, Intuit decided to join in on the criminal activity and refund the monies that were not owed to anyone but ourselves. After almost eight hours on the phone attempting to present the filed police reports and other evidence to Intuit and different representatives within, absolutely no assistance was rendered on behalf of your paying client. However every possible step was taken to render aid to the non-paying criminal dealing a virtually crushing blow to our company. A hindrance that we still try our very best to continue to recover from today with no thanks to your company.
There's many more details I could share, but what's the point, right? Yet you still try to make contact to get more business from me. I think not. Your company only needed to prove to me once where the loyalties lie. With the criminal, not the customer. That said, I can be bribed to change my opinion on Intuit for the small refund of about $15,000. Since Intuit likes to engage in criminal activity such as the money laundering previously mentioned, they should be able to refund my money without any remorse for the actions they would need to take to do so. It's only logical afterall

We switched to the online version which is just as expensive if not more. The online version allows you to download an app to your computer. The app no longer works. Now we are forced to try and run payroll for 15 employees from a web browser. Well now the web browser version does not print our check correctly and there is no way to fix it. So the sales team talked me into migrating to Quickbooks online, telling me how convenient and much easier it is to use than our version. They have made the online cheaper overall than the desktop version so I decided to switch.
I found out I was grossly misled on the amount of time it takes to migrate the system in order to run payroll so we almost missed a weekly payroll for all of our employees and when they said support was easy to reach that was a load of crap plus when you do reach support, maybe 1 out of 100 support professionals even have a clue how to fix the issues you experience. I was told this whole process takes "45 minutes to 1 hour" and I have spent 2 weeks working 10 am to 2 am setting up to do payroll, have almost missed a payroll that I had to do manually and support is almost completely worthless, especially since they disconnect the call when they can't figure out how to help you instead of transferring you to someone else who knows what they are doing. When the email arrived, there was a download link, but no new license number and product ID listed. I contacted customer service, told the rep the confirmation number and what I needed, and spent 1.5 hours with her repeating everything I said, putting me on hold for several minutes a minimum of 20 time, and getting nowhere.
My requests to talk to a supervisor accounted for half of the hold periods, with her returning each time and asking more questions... with my answers repeated by her. Except I have told them million times that I only paid for upgrade but have not registered yet and was still using desktop form and reason for call was to register and install online version.
After that I just told them to cancel my upgrade and reimburse me the money. Nope none of that happened. They jacked up my rate, did not reimburse me. This went on for several weeks where I call, everybody is so sorry about my issue but they continued to make things worse. I was at least 1-2 times during the call transferred to bogus departments. If I needed Billing they would transfer me to Bill pay. Or tell me I needed desktop support and then they would tell me I need online support.
Then they blocked my desktop version. I would get Must register error and if I clicked on it would say already registered. When I called about this they said my account was blocked for defaulting on payment even my payment is automatic, with overcharged higher rate and, of course, no reimbursement for Online version upgrade that never happened. As I write this I am still being transferred from agent to agent. They claimed they had to review the transactions before they would send me payment. I do not understand why they need to review a transaction between two consenting parties where the funds are fully available. Intuit has now been withholding funds for the past 4 months under the pretense of reviewing these transactions.
However, it is my belief that Intuit is withholding my funds because it is a way to defer payment without paying interest to me. If they had an issue with the dollar amount of these transactions they should have denied the transactions when I attempted to run my client’s credit card at the very start not a week later after my client received the merchandise and further gifted the merchandise making it impossible for me to process a refund. Very disappointed with Intuit's business model. For years one could defray the cost of the product by simply renewing only after your version was no longer supported (avg 2-3 yrs). Beginning 2023, one is forced into an annual subscription "service" just to use the product. Price has doubled (yr over yr) with junk features designed to imply value, but most users will never use (data back up, full support*, full pc data protection). In addition, Intuit has been a la carte priced for additional modules like payroll, which do not offer full access to report items to run your business.
Beware if you consider any Intuit QB product - intro costs priced to get you started, thereafter the business model is to soak you for as much as they can. *Online or phone support is nearly a joke. In the few times I have called over two decades, support has not often been helpful. One agent clearly paid by the sale as he did everything he could to avoid answering direct questions on modules being pushed/sold and if they were REQUIRED to use the base program. Beware unsolicited sales calls or emails suggesting you have to "renew" this or that... to keep using QB (implied). Let the program tell you your sub(s) have run out for the features you have purchased.
If you are a very small business beware you will HAVE to purchase features you just will waste money over. If you are a 1-2 employee company there is no "lite" version to do basic accounting, issue POs, run payroll, etc. The software is designed for non-cash basis businesses of 5+ before the automation offered returns any real value. One has to think that if companies can make money ($300 or more) selling you comparisons of Intuit products, then Intuit has intentionally over complicated their suite of offers. Will be searching for a replacement to QB as they have out priced their usefulness and no longer return a reasonable value for the price.

Our company has used Quickbooks for many years, we started out using Desktop and switched to Online in 2022. Any time I have had an issue in the past it was extremely difficult to get any help resolving the problem. Against my best judgement we switched to Online thinking it would make things easier and the customer service rep we spoke with assured us that all our data would be transferred seamlessly. The thought of having to set up an entirely new bookkeeping systems seemed daunting so we switched to Quickbooks Online.
The transfer process was not easy and seamless, we ended up having to spend a few weeks on the phone and working to fix all the information in the system. Into the second quarter I started getting letters from the IRS saying that we owed money and hadn't paid the correct amount of payroll tax. I scoured our records and could find no mistakes. I have always submitted our 941s quarterly, w2s and w3 annually and never had a problem like this. Looking closer at the amounts the IRS said we were short made me questions a potential employees info that I had entered into our system, just to run numbers for one month. We ended up NOT hiring this employee and when I went to delete their information out of quickbooks it wouldn't allow me.
At the time I selected "not an active employee" and didn't think about it again. I revisited this information in the system and thought it seemed like Quickbooks had possible reported it to the IRS erroneously. I called quickbooks and asked if our payroll information would be automatically sent to the IRS and the service rep assured me we had no settings on our account that would do this. After getting a second letter from the IRS the following month I called Quickbooks again and the customer service rep told me the same thing, no way our information would be sent to the IRS, we don't have that setting turned on. I asked to escalate the issue and have someone look into it further.
I uploaded the letters I had received from the IRS and potential employee name that I had entered into our system and was told that a supervisor would look into the matter. I received an email a few days later saying that they could find nothing that would explain the letters I was receiving from the IRS. I had no success reaching anyone at the IRS by phone so I made copies of everything, wrote out what I suspected was happening and mailed everything to the IRS and kept a copy for myself. I didn't receive any more letters from the IRS.
At the beginning of 2023 I was completing taxes and noticed that the potential employee that was listed as not on payroll and not an active employee was still pulling on profit and loss reports, it would not let me delete the information and this time showed me a message that the info couldn't be deleted because payroll information had already been submitted to the IRS! On top of this, myself and the other employees in our company received w2s in the mail that had been automatically generated by Quickbooks. This information was not accurate, as we had been finalizing corrections in our system and planned to handwrite the w2s as we always have done.
I called into Quickbooks again. After explaining what was going on I was told AGAIN that there were no settings on the account that would be auto generating tax forms. I told the customer service rep that I was holding one in my hand that I had received in the mail so they definitely were sending them. I told the rep I had called in multiple times in 2022 about information automatically being sent to the IRS and was told it wasn't happening. I was then told that that it is standard practice, that quickbooks is legally required to send all information to the IRS.
I asked why there were settings on the account to choose autogeneration of tax info and e-file if everything was sent anyway but I didn't get a straight answer to that. I stated that I wasn't getting off the phone until I could speak with someone that could figure out why tax information was being generated and sent out to employees and IRS if there were no settings on our account allowing them to do so.
After waiting on hold nearly an hour the customer service rep told me that she DID see where we had a setting that was autogenerating tax forms and that WE turned it on and chose that setting and there was nothing she could do about it until February. She said that the system wouldn't allow her to disable it in the middle of tax time and that there was no way for her to correct the information that was already sent to the IRS and that I would have to amend our taxes on my own. I asked to speak to a supervisor and I am still on hold. I have been on the phone for nearly 2 hours. Quickbooks is beyond frustrating and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

I purchased a Desktop Prop Plus product from Amazon that came with a one year subscription included. I paid for the product (the product comes with a CD). It was mailed to me and I loaded it on the computer. I then didn't use it for a few months and when I tried to, they had canceled my subscription and now wants $540 Plus. They say I never paid for it although I have my receipt and and bank statement to show it cleared. I have spent 5-6 hours on the phone and they refuse to let me use the product I paid for. When I said are you telling me Amazon never paid you for this product, they were very quiet and repeated I'm telling you we were never paid for this. There needs to be a no star option.

Quickbooks lost my data. I had Quickbooks, Small Business, and Accounting on one of two Windows 10 similar computers I bought about 7 years ago. I update both to Windows 10 with QB on one and the other had Quicken, using the original disk. The QB computer crashed, but I had the backup files on the other computer. So I got my QB disk and attempted to load QB on the second computer, but it would not load, saying it needed flash. I called Intuit, they said to call Adobe who said it was QBs software problem and not theirs. I called QB back and their advice was to subscribe for close to 1000 a year and wouldn't confirm that it could read my data. They had no interest in helping fix the problem, but just a constant buy, buy, buy subscription.
Of course, with the original QB and Quicken, you bought the software and you didn't have to upgrade. Now thru some glitch, they have installed, they've, tried to blame Adobe for the sudden failure of the original disk. So, you'll lose your data and they don't promise after the update that you can get it. I've found a new accounting software, and I'm going to cancel my Quicken and transfer the data ASAP. Don't depend on Quick Books Small Business Accounting. You'll lose your data.

Horrible blood sucking organization. Expect them to steal your data then charge you insane prices to access it. You will never be able to transition to new software because they refuse to give your information back. Then they sell your info and make a killing behind your back. Unethical criminal scumbags who could care less about their customers. Count us in on the class action lawsuit!

I have 2020 desktop edition. I purchased payroll addon - they attached it to the 2010 version I had 10 years ago. I tried to get this corrected and was told it was too late to get it for the 2020 version because the 2023 version was out and I'd have to upgrade. Cost? Almost $800 and that didn't include the payroll. We're a small company. That's outrageous! I'm doing all the work on MY computer. Of course online is cheaper - that's the manipulative part. I don't trust them enough to put my employees' SS# online, or my bank account information. So here I am with payroll I can't use (not refunded yet) and no idea how to move forward. Customer service is a joke.

Most Unfriendly Software I ever worked with. Customer Support cannot help - They need support too. Absolutely not customizable. I tried to use the the time for employees, however the QBs will show to your employee your all existing customers instead of only one he supposed to work on. Badly overpriced.

Intuit Quickbooks Payroll online will be written up by business writers as a classic case of taking something that was working (not the best, but still did the job) and making it really bad. In a patently stupid move, Intuit changed the user interface for their online payroll service, ostensibly to align it with Quickbooks, and made it ten times worse.
1. The user interface is not as functional as the prior version. The previous version was not integrated with Quickbooks very tightly but was more functional for payroll purposes.
2. Intuit took the opportunity to raise their prices from ~$40+multiplier for # of employees to $55+higher multiplier for # of employees. Less value, more money.
3. But the decision that takes the cake was the decision to fully outsource their customer support to the Philippines. Used to be that certain hours of the day, you would get US-based support and then during afternoon/evening hours in the US, you would reach their outsourced support center. Now, you always get the outsourced support center. Nothing against outsourced support - if it works.
(a) The lead times for chat/phone support are atrocious. The disclaimer that 'we are experiencing higher call volumes than normal' seems to be used as the default.
(b) the support agents are inadequately trained and mostly provide canned responses. Their protocol for providing support is annoyingly bureaucratic - they have elaborate validation criteria even for simple questions that do not involve private data. They do not seem to have any initiative to solve the customer's problem - if it's not in their script, they do not venture to help. Speaking to a supervisor is out of the question as none is available most of the time. On a recent call, the agent explained that she was working out of home and did not know how to address my question and that she could not locate any available supervisor but she would put in a request for a supervisor to call me back. 48 hours later - I still have not received a call back.
(c) they expect customers to poll the community for support questions. This model has worked well for Intuit TurboTax and even QuickBooks but Intuit seems to be under the illusion that the support model for a paid online service should be the same as that for traditionally licensed software products where the buyer has no support contract or ongoing subscription.
Bottom line - if you are a business that uses QuickBooks, this *might* work for you, especially if you don't need to use their customer support. But if you don't use QuickBooks (I do not), almost any other payroll service would work better. Disclosure: I have been a subscriber to Intuit Payroll since 2015 but am now switching to another service.

Updated on 11/08/2025: QB left a voicemail re renewing my subscription and so I returned the call only to learn that the fee had gone up from $500 to $900! Context: I've been a single user who bought into QB about 25 years ago. Other than upgrading to newer releases and incremental charges, that all changed 2 years ago when I found myself unceremoniously locked out of my company and essentially held hostage until I forked over $500... This a new extortion plan they'd developed for shareholders. What do you do? Call 911 "robbery in process" or do you pay? I paid. Fast forward to this past week... The new price is $900!!! I explain I'm a one man band, only use it for tracking expenses, etc., he lowers it to $600. Spends 10 minutes doing an interview... As if I was applying for a VISA... Then closes with "an agent will confirm with you within 72 hours." Confirm what? I ask. Your purchase, he replies.
Well... No one calls back but in the interim, several days later I attempt to update a few things but... FIND MYSELF LOCKED OUT!!!! I call, get the usual apologies, am assured $600 will be honored but Rashid has to approve something... Well Rashid required remote access to my computer! I had to leave for a meeting, returning the screen says "Ready to go... Just complete the purchase... "FOR $1,703.00 DOLLARS!!!! WHAT??? Unless you use it regularly it's already a very complicated package to use but as noted earlier, I bought in 25 years ago so have just dealt with it but... $1,703.00????
So I dial back to the "Sr. Whatever" who promised $600... He gives me an 800# for a higher authority... Somewhere in the Philipines... who accomplishes nothing except bolsters my blood pressure... She transfers me to sales... Back to India. That rep sticks to the $1,703.00. Of course he does... He's a sales rep. I'm through... Time to find an easier system to transfer my data to.
Original review: I'm not sure how/why I ever got tied in w/ QB but it must've been an accountant's fault of some 20 yrs ago. I'm a one man band and I use it for tracking expenses. No payroll, no amortizations, none of the big stuff... I probably use less than 1% of this product's capability and let me tell you... it's miserable. If you use it every day, you become fluent in the product, it may be great but, if you're like me who jumps in on a quarterly basis to update expenses... well, there must be far superior products in the marketplace.
I've just learned that I can't log in to my account because my subscriptions expired... I didn't know I had one! Now they want $500 or so to renew my subscription!!! WHAT???? Plus, it doesn't recognize my existing Chrome operating system and wants to download Chrome... again! How might that affect my existing work? So today's 15 minutes of work has not only gone undone, but I'm now 45 minutes in, trying to make things work. Apparently a basic version of QB is no longer the program and one is required to subscribe... as if I need updates!!!
My accountant takes care of all that. Run for your life! Stay away from QB... it may be for rocket scientists but it's not for the faint of heart. I'm in a real, live hostage situation... I cannot access my ledger until I pay them some $500 or so. I'll have to contact our State's Attorney's office on this one... or the police first??? I've never been so livid.

My account was cancelled by them (I guess it was due to the expired credit card info in the account) and I was not informed with any email and SMS from them before they stopped my account. The worst thing is that I COULD NOT ACTIVATE MY ACCOUNT by clicking 'resubscribe' button, and nowhere to update my credit card info! I chatted with them 5+ times, emails back and forth, and called them, each time a different person came up with me, I spent 8+ hours (while my account was stopped for weeks) telling each person the whole story again and again, problem is still there. I do not understand how this easy thing could be so tough for them! I do not understand how they could survive in the market....
