I've been with Fingerhut for over 2 years. I like that it has helped me build my credit... I've gotten two credit raises in the last 2 years. I pay on time and never buy more than I can handle. I've overpaid on so many things it isn't funny but the way I saw it, I didn't have the money to pay full price so I just put it on credit. Well, I absolutely hate their shipping fees, it's absolutely ridiculous. They overcharge on shipping, so anytime I look for deals with them, I look in the clearance section ONLY when they are offering free shipping. Well the last 4 times that they offered free shipping, I was conveniently locked out of my account and then when I tried the day after I was able to get it.
This time really pissed me off so I called the customer service and she told me that there are several versions of Chrome, Safari and Internet Explorer that don't work due to an update in March!!! However, my argument here is that I'm able to log in the day before the sale and the day after the sale but never during the "FREE SHIPPING" time... It's frustrating and I don't understand it at all. So when I called to ask for the free shipping that I wasn't able to get the last two days, she asked me what products I wanted and they were already gone... I just don't like their business practices. I will be paying my balance off and I'm done with them for good. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to get the sale deals that YOU advertised!!! It's ridiculous... I'm done!!!

I am beyond upset, furious, and distraught due to the situation I am having to deal with with this so called business Fingerhut. I got merchandise from this company. Paid it off. I was always on time, never had a late payment. So they emailed me, called me, emailed me and emailed me stating that I had a credit limit with them for more money than I was approved for the first time due to paying my loan off on time. I was skeptical about purchasing from them AGAIN due to the fact that the ring I purchased from them tarnished and it was suppose to be white gold. I called and the customer service representative told me basically "too bad. Youre out of luck. We have a 90 day return policy", which I could understand so that was that.
My fiance and I then thought hard about repurchasing from this company due to the merchandise tarnishing but we had found couples rings online that we both fell in love with so we figured we would give the company another shot plus I am trying to build up my credit and that is their biggest seller is credit reporting. I ordered 3 months ago over the phone with a man that I could barely understand that could barely understand me. I ordered my ring and then my fiance's ring. Mind you I repeated to the customer service representative 20 times what size I wanted for myself and for my fiance, which was a 7 for myself and 11 for my fiance.
When we received the merchandise my ring was fine. A little small but I made it work. My fiance's ring was sent in a size 8. I have been with my fiance for 6 years now. I believe I know his ring size. A size 8 would not even fit me. So I called. They told me to send it in, that it was a language barrier and they would fix it. So I paid good money to then send the ring back to them - certified mail in which they received. I called the lady, confirmed they received the merchandise back. So I told her that NOT ONLY did I write on the return form I requested a size 11 I told the representative 20 times what size I wanted. She reassured me that she would take care of me and that there would be no problem.
Weeks passed. Mind you as I am paying for merchandise I DO NOT EVEN HAVE, because if I don't it would be derogatory against my credit so I have no choice but to pay for merchandise that I never received properly. After about the 3rd week I finally received the ring in the mail. We were excited to open the package to be FURIOUS AND DISCOURAGED ONCE MORE. They THEN AGAIN send the WRONG SIZE for the 2ND time. I then sent the ring back with big BOLD LETTERS OF THE REASONING OF ME sending the merchandise back because they then again sent me the wrong size. I wrote in BOLD letters "size 11" in which I have a copy of.
I called week later, spoke with a lady that told me they received the merchandise and that they would take care of me and send me the size 11 and to not be upset with them because they are not the ones that make the Jewelry - another company does. Then I call again because I still HAVE YET TO RECEIVE THIS MERCHANDISE and was told my request was denied they would not be sending me a size 11 and that they would not even credit my account for the amount of the merchandise.
I need this resolved so I need your help PLEASE with this matter. I get NOWHERE with this company. I ask to speak with supervisors and they always say they are unavailable and that they would call me back in which I NEVER receive a call from them. I will also write the BBB and beyond if I have to get this situation resolved. PLEASE, PLEASE help me. I am in NEED of help. Thank you very much.

I have had Fingerhut for years. Told my daughter to use them to build her credit. She now has a balance of 180.00 and nothing to show for it. They say they never received a returned item, yet we have the email proof... I called customer service only to get an operator working out of her house with screaming kids and barking dogs in the background. After writing this review I will be getting in touch with the BBB. I had a credit limit of over 3,000, told them to close my account. This new operator says if I ever want to order anything again, I'll have to fill out another credit app. Ha, I'm NEVER using Fingerhut again!! I'm sure they don't even care!!! Please, if you are reading this review, DO NOT use Fingerhut!

I paid before my due date and they applied it to June payment. So it showed 2 payments in June but my second payment was for July. Their company is so stupid you pay before the due date you get a late fee applied. They called me for 3 day I'm off work is why I got the call. 4 people and my attitude and foul mouth got my payment applied for July but my credit took a hit cause my payment is due on the 27 of each month and I paid my first payment on the 3 and my second payment on the 1st. So you get late payment fee if you pay on time. This company needs to revise its standards. Most companies don't care when your payment is made as long it is before the due date.
The last rep I spoke with I told her "apply the payment and I would pay it off and close my account." She started to argue. I said, "Ma'am shut up, apply my payment. I'm not argue about your company stupid policy". And she said well. I said "shut up, apply it" and she go ok. I said "thank you." She said "anything else?" I said "no" and hung up. If a rep is going to argue over a company like this because of their rules it is not worth my time. Never will I order again from them because you get punished for making on time payment. Really? Wtf. I got a late fee for the July payment for August which hasn't even processed yet it still shows my July payment has not been made when it has been paid but they said it applied to the June payment as well. You pay early you get a fine. Really nice huh.

My wife ordered a HP all in 1 computer. We got it, it came with issues so we skipped Finger ** and went to HP. They diagnosed it and said "I thought you said this was brand new." I said it was and they informed that it couldn't be new it has programs from 2014. And it had no driver for video so I looked at a green screen - they fixed that but my keyboard just doesn't work correctly. It took me 25 minutes to type this. I changed it 3 times and still ng, so I called, got attitude so I went to the ceo and left him my grievances and still no call from them and I can't return the crap they sent so I called the Better Business Bureau - seems to be the only way to get stuff done. Bottom line unless you want used crap you won't purchase anything from these rip offs. It's a shame that the customer isn't their main concern. Fingerhut sucks. The law needs to get involved. PS I have a zero tolerance policy for businesses who rip me off. Someone will pay one way or the next.

Fingerhut ** me around over 10 dollars. They took the money out of my account automatically. I have them permission to do auto pay and then on the last payment for 10 dollars they put me down for a 30 to 59 days late and messed up my credit score. I had 732 credit score and lost 100 points because they said the auto pay from my checking account had to be renewed but they never let me know. I called and talked to them and they were very rude and said they can't do anything about it.
I had paid them on time every time, since 2012 never late and they basically told me to go ** myself that ** happens and they aren't going to help me. All of this ** for the last payment of 10 dollars. They don't care about the customers' 10 dollars. They ** me around so I am telling the world don't do any business with Fingerhut. I will never ever do business with Fingerhut again. With most business you get a 5 day grace... With Fingerhut if you are one day late they charge you a late fee of $37.50 but they don't tell you that when you make your order. With a late fee that high you will always forever owe them. Never again will I do business with Fingerhut.

Ordered a 5 pc yard set, waited over the expected delivery date, finally got my order. Lugged the 100 pound box to my yard. Cut it open only to find out it was the wrong item. I quickly called them to explain. The rep on phone told me to bring it to my choice of shippers and send it back. I was like "What, no way you sent the wrong item. I'm not paying to send it back." Finally after that fight I was transferred to someone else who said she will have the shipping company call me in 48 hours to set a pickup date. I was like "I'm not keeping this big thing in my house for days."
Then the shipping company need to set up a date with a six-hour window. So this box could be here for days and I'd have to take another day off. Then they offered to replace my item but shipping would be 18 day - that was already late at the point of the first wrong arrival. For all my issues they gave me 20 bucks store credit. What a joke. I hate this company. I never want to see or hear of them again. They lie and cheat. Hope they go out of business. Can't believe I'm the one that has to suffer from their mistakes.

Please shoppers out there, you can find cheaper online or in few apps that you can download from your phone. Don't fall in the trap of making payments every month which is gonna cost you triple with this company. Horrible choice I made!

I have never seen a company do this and I am so disgusted. I received a letter offering me 600 dollars added credit if I spent that amount. I didn't have any need to spend it and didn't want or ask for the additional credit. What they do is go ahead and put the increase on your credit report and then if you don't spend the money they remove it, putting you back to the original amount, causing a huge hit on your credit report. It's as though you are being held hostage. Either spend more money or they will hurt your credit report.

While Fingerhut is a creative "second chance" credit alternative, they already overcharge you on financing then on top of that they add about 18-24% to the average box stores pricing as a corporate policy to cover loss in nonpayment accounts. How is that fair to those of us who pay on time? Also how can you not match the prices of Home Depot/Walmart when the costs of these items to you and those stores are identical. Clearly you don't care even enough about the customer or you would have a knowledgeable American customer service team just like my three companies. You ruined my nephew's credit and now I have to help him because of YOUR MISTAKES AND IRRESPONSIBLE DISTRIBUTION OF CREDIT...

Fingerhut sends out catalogs with "fill in" and order pages. Anyone can and does order only to take the goods that are left at your door. Fingerhut does not require a signature, so you have no proof the items were not received and since you did not order it you're totally in the dark! Then Fingerhut sues you for the items you did not order and did not receive. FINGERHUT IS A SCAM COMPANY THAT ENABLES IDENTITY THEFT! THEY NEED TO BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS!!! Wow! Where do you even start with this "company". They are overpriced, sell cheap products, and their customer service is horrendous! After 3 attempt to contact them they sent me a general email telling me to call customer service weeks later. They will harass you with phone calls and emails if you owe them the smallest amount of money and are even 1 day late on a payment. Just a bad idea. It is often sold as a "rebuilding your credit" option and they really take advantage of you.

Ordered a laptop computer to be sent, and paid for 2-day delivery. Appropriate action was taken and was sent quickly. Within 2 days the package was delivered to Houston Post office to be delivered to me. Then an order was placed to send package back to Fingerhut (requested by Fingerhut)... After several calls and online requests Fingerhut informs me that there was a security concern. After several conversations, and different excuses, there was no stopping this process. Turns out some idiot, who gets a bonus for flagging suspicious requests, made a decision (bad guess with no reasoning, unless receiving commissions regularly, is ok).
I had to reorder, take a day off to receive a new package the next week! Never complained of minor poor service before! Customer for 7 years! $0 balance before, soon to be again, but cancelling service after paying off. No apologies, nothing. Just a credit reduction for complaining. Grand Poor Service. I set up an online payment for my payday (5/31/16) which was a day before my bill was due. Fingerhut took the payment out 8 days early (5/23/16). On 5/23/16 I looked at my bank account and Fingerhut had taken out my payment. I immediately called their customer service. They assured me the payment would not hard post to my account, but they cancelled the payment upon my request. I checked my back account the next day. The payment hard posted, and I incurred an overdraft fee. I called again. In fact I called 5 or six times. I was asked to provide documentation to prove the overdraft was attached to the payment posted early.
I provided everything they asked. They still will not take responsibility for this. Finally today I talked to someone and notes on my account have been doctored, because they now tell me I set up a payment on the date they withdrew the payment (5/23/16) without my permission. This is COMPLETELY FALSE and someone internally has changed information. There is no way to go into my account and see anything specific. I have closed my account. I will continue to pay my account and take care of my credit. But this is ridiculous!!!! This company is unbelievable.

Fingerhut customer service's very rude. I had a representative to hang up on me today on May 26,2016. She made a mistake on my order in which it was cancelled out instead of her cancelled the one particular item that was in question. I found out that by the order had been cancelled I wouldn't have my available credit until 24 to 48 hours.
Therefore, the promotion of free shipping fees wouldn't no longer be in affect...That's the reasons I place the order in the first place because of the high shipping prices... I asked for supervisor. The customer service said they were all busy... I told her I'm was willingly to hold. Of course she said I couldn't hold... Then I asked to speak with another representative. She said I didn't have enough available credit. I asked "how you know what I will be order to know whether or not I will have the available credit..." That's when she rudely hung up on me. I definitely regret having Fingerhut credit... I only was using the line of credit to boost my credit scores... Fingerhut that particular customer service did not want to deal with her misunderstanding with the conversation...

For those of you complaining about your Fingerhut accounts...get a life! You know exactly, from the start, what you're ordering. Look at the price. If it's too expensive for you, don't order it. Look at the dimensions. If it's too small, skip it! Nothing ever comes "bigger" than you expected. Fingerhut is a company that offers you products and credit lines that fit your lifestyle. I've read complaints that are way too involved for a company to handle, and be involved in. I have ordered from Fingerhut many times. Have had to return a few items, and have had to cancel items. I have done all of this online through my account.
I have received most orders early. Have been alerted to an order being out-of-stock. Orders sent to family and friends have been received with no issues. Sorry some of you have bad experiences, but...some complaints sound a little ridiculous! Know what you're ordering. The picture is nice, but look at the dimensions. See what it's made of. Track your account and shipped orders, it's all right in front of you folks. If I screw up, I screwed up!!! If Fingerhut screws up, we'll deal with it and it will be corrected. If you don't like what this company does for you...pay your account, and move on!

I have ordered items from Fingerhut for approx. a year with no problems. I recently purchased a flat screen tv and it worked fine for about (2) month. Then one day (while it was not even on), my daughter heard a loud pop. We realized that the screen (from the inside) had cracked. I called Fingerhut then contacted Samsung (who stated that they would not repair it via a picture I had to send in because it look like a surface crack). What? How could you tell from a pic? So, I contacted Fingerhut and they stated that I was over the return policy by 2 days! What? You cannot honor a broken tv? Which by the way, they charge at least $400 - $500 more to their customers for the same television.
In the process of me trying to rectify this, they reported me to the consumer companies for being (1) month late...which brought my credit score down by 20 points... absolutely ridiculous. I had NEVER been late and actually paid extra payments every month and this is how they treat their customers? I will NEVER purchase from them again.

Fingerhut is an online credit company known for their "Fresh Start Program". It seems right, if you can pay off a small amount in credit responsibly, a reward would be a revolving account. Here's what happened to me. I "graduated" the fresh start program in the middle of moving. As did my wife. We both received welcome packets and every bill since then has arrived to us. I checked my account as there was a purchase I wanted to make and all at once I had a zero credit balance but still owed for previous purchases. I paid every bill early, and more than the balance due. I was on a roll.
I called customer service that bounced me all around until I found out there is a red flag on my account. They said my welcome packet had been returned to them twice so they closed my account. None of this makes sense, as my wife and I had the same forwarding address and I've gotten every paper bill from them. (I also asked for paperless numerous times, never happened.) Now to open my account I have to send proof of receiving my welcome packet and send in a request to reopen the account. This is ridiculous treatment of customers who are promised something from a business and then lose it because I didn't receive a welcome packet but none of their paper bills have been sent back. I will gladly join in a lawsuit to help stop businesses such as this.

I'm highly upset with Fingerhut. It comes down to Mother's Day and I'm trying to purchase some flowers on Teleflora.com as they advertise on their site. I couldn't purchase anything with my credit account with Fingerhut so I call Teleflora to place my order and they say, "We have your confirmation number" and then the next second, "Oh it's declined."
I then had to contact Fingerhut and they told me I had a holding on my account. So for them to take off the holding on my account, you know the usual: name, address, SS#, birthdate and etc. They even asked me some identity security questions and the woman on the phone verified that everything was accurate and correct for them to pull the holding off my account and it may take an hour for the holding to come off. An hour later and I'm just still crazy about what flowers to get for Mother's Day. An hour later I tried to replace the purchase and it still didn't set right and the Teleflora lady couldn't get the order to go through.
I called Fingerhut again and they told me I need to verify some documents before they could lift the holding off my account. I'm like didn't they just re-inform me that the holding will be lifted on my account in the next hour but if it's not one thing it's another. They needed my SS card, I.D., and a utility bill to verify me. At the time I couldn't find my social security card because I've swap so many purses and since I live with my mom, I don't actually have a utility bill in my name. Anyway I tried verifying some things they recommended like a "bank statement" and everything.
I even gave them my birth certificate, SS#, and everything I could to get my account in good standing and WAH-LAH, guess what? They said; "This social security card isn't valid until signed and you need another bill with your name on it, which another document proves I live there." So I've been back and forth verifying things with Fingerhut then it came close to their closing hour and now I can't get back with them to Monday. Total **! These lowdown arrogant, carnal minded, prejudiced red-necked crackers would care less if I had something or not. How much damn information you need to verify I'm right damn person.
These days, people know it's you but what's the damn point of verifying all this **? I gave you my birth certificate, my ID, my freaking SS#, and even answered all the identity questions right. What more do you want? like really? I was really upset cause I really wanted to give my mother some flowers for Mother's Day cause I didn't have the money at the time. But I had to go through all this just to send a simple gift and now Mother's Day is tomorrow and I would've paid my credit back by the end of this month on my next pay period. I do not recommend Fingerhut to nobody. They really pissed me off cause they're not there when you need them.

I called Fingerhut today and reported the fraud. I was told that there was nothing they could do to help me as the account had been sold to a debt collector. Fingerhut's customer service representative gave me the phone number of the collection agency. I called the collection agency and they told me that they had obtained a judgment against me. I don't know how since I never applied for or obtained a Fingerhut credit card, ever.
Fingerhut has never sent me any correspondence or bills. I never received any correspondence or a bill from the collection agency either. While I have been with Fingerhut for a little over a year, I've never made a late payment, my payments are handled in a timely fashion. My products arrive usually in good condition however the products are crap and of low quality are WAY over priced and interest is ridiculous. However I still understand they are taking a chance giving you items up front. My credit line started at 600 and now I'm at 2100$.
Now on the flip my mother in law had ordered a portable washer and some toys for my son and daughter for Christmas. The washers was sent back (we ordered 2 and both were damaged). Sent them both back. They resent 2 more again both were damaged, ended up with 4 total. Sent all 4 back. They are still charging her. She ordered with no payments till February and they put her in collections for not making her Dec payment. She ordered a hockey table that was so damaged where the box was damaged. Sent pics, they refused to send a slip to return it. Ordered a rocking horse that neighs for my baby and the electronic box doesn't work. I opened an account with Fingerhut around the holidays as funds were tight. They messed up my order and didn't ship items they claimed to have shipped. "Oh wait those were on backorder, we're sooo sorry." The quality of the products is below substandard and the pricing and finance charges are way over inflated. Customer service, they have none. When you do get a person it is someone offshore (overseas) that is reading from a script. Ask for a supervisor and get put on hold until they finally drop the call.
Now move on to having a single late payment with them. When you have trouble like this you get the account caught up, make an arrangement to auto draft the account and then request a good faith removal of the negative impact to your credit score. "Oh no we can't do that." Sorry I say all other credit card companies will make a one time correction on good faith. Why then are you so different? This company preys on people with less than stellar credit and makes bad situations worse. Never ever no never use them.

We called less than 12 hours later. They wouldn't change the size, but our cancellation request may or may not be approved. We won't know for 1-2 days. So, I guess we may or may not be stuck with a ring that won't fit. I told my husband that I never want to order anything from them... I doubt they could make a quality ring, with 4 different stones, in less than 4 hours unless they slap it together.

Seriously annoying company. Seriously. If you are 5 minutes late with your payment they are calling and harassing you for payment. Seriously, mine was due yesterday at midnight, called before noon today. The payment had been made, it just hadn't processed through my account yet (because they are suuupppeeer slow at processing your payments). When they call they act like they are some sort of debt collector and try to force you to make a payment over the phone. I never make payments over the phone, especially if the person is calling me. I have no way of knowing for sure if that person is from the company or if they are just some scammer trying to grab my credit card info. Not to mention that 9 times out of 10 when they call I've already paid and they just haven't bothered to apply my payment.
On top of all of that the products they carry are usually less than impressive, and WAY, WAY, WAY overpriced (especially when you factor in their INSANE interest rates). I got the account to push my credit score up (and it has) because I had some issues back in the day when I was younger that left my credit less than stellar. However, if you can get credit anywhere else, please, for the love of God, go somewhere else.

This company is a complete joke. First off my grandmother has an account with them and is blind so in March I called to make a one time payment with my debit card for her and had to fight with them 45 min to even take the payment since the card was in my name. I had told them it was a one time payment. Well this month I am looking at my bank account and see where they decided to go into my bank account and help their selves and draw my bank account negative on top of that.
I called and let them have it and all they wanted to say was they were sorry but they spoke with me before they took this last payment and I told them they could um no "y'all have not called me" and I would not have told them ok to take money out my account. They say they record phone calls. Well please bring up the one from March where I had to fight y'all to take a payment and also I would love to hear the call where I told y'all it was ok to take money out my account for something that is not mine. My name is on the bank account not hers - it's MY FREAKING money. I will NEVER EVER EVER BUY ANYTHING from this COMPANY. They are making a bad name for their selves and I would love see this ripoff company shut down!

I purchased a desktop PC from Fingerhut on 1/27/2016 for $689.99. This same PC is located at multiple other sites for around $200 less. I asked for a discount, but they would not budge on the overpriced product. I went ahead and made the purchase because my wife required a PC for school and our laptop was not working at the time. Upon receiving the item we did not begin using it right away. It sat in the box for an extended amount of time. When we did unbox it we noticed multiple areas where the item was damaged. It has a window on it to see the inside of the PC, but this window had a big scrape the length of the window and it was diagonal so it defeated the purpose of the window. One of the screws that holds the side panel on was missing because the back end of the case was almost folded in half, and there were other damaged spots on the PC.
PCs are fragile items, and this one had clearly been beaten up quite a bit, so we did not want to risk this PC breaking on this. We set it up and used it slightly. Ultimately we decided with all the damage and considering the price was $200 more than average we did not want to risk a broken overpriced piece of junk. I contacted Fingerhut via chat to discuss returning it. I was told it was passed the time to return it, but I discussed further and explained that they sold us a damaged product and that it was unprofessional and not a good practice. They asked if I still had my RMA paperwork to send it back. I could not find it, so they sent me a new packing slip. We sent the PC as soon as we had time, which was probably a week after getting the packing slip. Fingerhut has called me non-stop for months for payment for this item. They call at night, in the morning, Monday-Sunday.
I finally answered today 4/12 because I wanted to let them know I have sent the PC back and I would like them to stop calling. I was told to speak with Fingerhut customer "service" and was transferred per my request. The individual I spoke with told me I am expected to pay not only my monthly fees, but also late fees, and if I did not, I would be reported to all credit agencies. She mentioned this more than 4x in 5 minutes. I guess they are trained to threaten their customers repeatedly to try and force them to pay something. My issue is that I did not rent this damaged product, and initially I did want to own it, but since it was so damaged and overpriced I could not justify getting ripped off. Well not they are basically asking me for a rental fee and late fees and they would not work with me on the phone.
I spoke to a manager too. She told me, because I exceeded the 30-day limit and that this item is part of electronics I could not return it for a credit. She was very rude from start to finish. I told her I was given permission from Fingerhut to send it back, and they even sent me the shipping slip to send it back. She still told me that I will not receive a credit and they would send it back. This makes no sense. I was told I could ship it back for a refund since it is damaged and they even provided the shipping slip via mail. This was very unprofessional and they aren't protecting the customer at all. Yes, I did not send it back right away, but I didn't even open it for a decent amount of time so I had no way of knowing it was damaged. Life gets busy and sometimes you can't always play with your toys. This is ridiculous and I am disappointed in them for being so rude, unprofessional and trying to scam me with an overpriced damaged product.

Owed almost $150 after making payments each month for eight months, including a late fee that was accessed after a missed payment in the beginning of January. During a phone conversation, my fiance authorized an automatic payment on 2/13/16, however we ended up paying the entire balance early on the 10th and it cleared from my bank on the 11th. Five days later and my fiance's bank card was denied at two different merchants. Go home and sign onto bank account to realize Fingerhut had charged him AGAIN using his saved bank card. It did not show a confirmation number for the second charge and said it was paid on the 16th and cleared from the bank on the 16th.
After multiple calls to Fingerhut, speaking to 5+ people the past week, they have refunded the initial charge but refuse to pay any fees charged by the bank. (It overdrafted 2x - initial overdraft fee, then another fee because it remained a negative balance for 5 days.) Customer service says that since the payment was authorized that it was not their error, however I explained that EVERYWHERE else that we have automatic payments where we pay early, that this never happens and the system automatically shows that the payment has been made.
They keep making excuses as to how their system is "different" and that it's still my fiance's fault for authorizing the payment. On top of them causing so many issues, they never removed the late fee as promised so we have lost over $100 in fees (in one way or another) caused by them, yet still paid the balance in full as WE promised! $35 late fee, Fingerhut promised to remove if balance was paid in full, plus two fees charged by bank caused by their negligence. This is by far the WORST company I have ever encountered and as soon as this matter is resolved (if it EVER is!!!) then we will be cancelling the account.
ALSO, our only order from Fingerhut was a $54.99 vacuum and a $99.99 bed set. We paid 8 payments of $14.99, then the lump sum of almost $150... The interest is SO high, the bed set had very poor quality, and the vacuum (purchased because of good reviews) doesn't work the way it should and isn't worth having it looked at to fix it. $260+ for items equaling about $160 (if you were to include tax purchasing similar items at the same cost through Walmart)! I do not recommend Fingerhut to anyone, for any reason. I would recommend a secured credit card through a bank if you wish to build your credit. The "cheap payments" are a cover-up for high interest, "90 days with no payment" specials, and their lack of customer service skills.

All I wanted was to return their laptop, which I did and get my money back. They literally make it impossible to make the transition easier for their customers. I was put on hold for 20 minutes the first time, one rep. sent me to a supervisor, not there, what a shocker. I hang up and call back, this one rep. says it's out of her hands and gives me, wait for it... a fraudulent number not even associated with their company. It's an insurance co. I ask the woman who came on the phone within 1 min. of calling and ask her if this association is connected with Fingerhut.com "Uh, no we're not, sorry." I honestly have no words to express the explosive anger I felt towards this company.
I call them up the 3rd time, after the ** of getting your account up, and the pleasantries of calling Fingerhut, I started to swear them out - saying that "You guys made me call a number that's not associated with your company. I am not going to play games with you anymore, I want my money and within the next week - NOT 30 DAYS FROM NOW OR HAVING TO CHARGE ME TO GET IT BACK!" Within about 10 minutes of scaring the ** out the poor guy on the phone who decides to oblige with me asking for a debit card number, which before I did asked "Before I do that, are you going to charge me for anything? If you're reading this, I don't normally go out of my way to give up my opinion on consumer reviews; I usually would make fun of people who took the time out to bash companies. Steve Nave, CEO of Bluestem is far and away one of the worst individuals that should be allowed to oversee a company that has anything to do with customer service. Part of their collection of brands is a long standing company known as Fingerhut. Under this brand, they sell a large selection of items, typically found at retailers, to people with less than perfect credit. They accomplish this through charging higher prices and interest rates. That is pretty well in line with what any company that deals with high-risk customers must do. Fingerhut cannot be faulted for that aspect of their business model.
However, where they considerably fail is in customer service. After experiencing this first hand through repeated 40 minute calls to a person overseas who spent more time placing me on hold and lying. Yes, lying, I caught her at it several times and each time she'd place me on hold again. I asked for a supervisor and was told after a 5-minute hold, that one would be right with me. 20 minutes later, I am transferred into a voicemail box, and although promised to be called back, I never was, that was a week ago.
Today, I tried to receive customer service via online chat, as it can be quite difficult to even understand what the people say over the phone either through their thick accents or because they are using internet phones and the connection is so terrible. But online chat just told me to call customer service. I called and was told I'd have to call someone else. When I try them, I'm told someone else. All this, because I wanted to ship an item, from my established account to my mom's address.
I live in Hawaii, and it would be absolutely ridiculous to ship an item to me here (taking a couple weeks and charging me for shipping), only for me to then pay more shipping and ship it back to her in Nevada. But getting a straight answer on adding a different shipping address was one of the most frustrating things I've ever had to do. And with no support in their shipping FAQ for something so simple (and common, I'm sure), I am still just wondering how the heck I can ship to a different address.
This isn't to mention other customer service issues I've had. Now, I thought, that it must just be me, that no company could treat all its customer like this and still be in business. Lo and behold, how wrong I was. A simple search online for customer complaints regarding Fingerhut quickly drew a horrifying trend with a simple glance at the first dozen reviews. A GREAT number of people, nearly 2 out of every 3 reviews has the same experience as I wrote about above, regarding their interaction with customer service, all the way down to not being able to understand the representative, to (and this surprised me), the infamous voicemail box, where they too, never received a call back.
This is appalling and I'm shocked that the CEO, Steve Nave, would stand for such poor customer service standards when that is all they are in business to provide, customer service! You can give poor customer service if you manufacture something, or you are a public utility or a cell phone company, or countless other industries that actually produce, manufacture, or distribute a service, not that that would be better business sense, but nevertheless, that company's core process is production and manufacturing. Fingerhut's core business is to provide customers with a shopping experience by selling goods being manufactured by OTHER companies and shipped by OTHER companies.
That means that Fingerhut only has two purposes, provide excellent customer service, since without customers at the consumer level, they have no company and to create revenue for their shareholders (which ironically, depends on the first core purpose of Fingerhut). Sadly, with only these two core purposes, one can easily determine which one is more important to them, and to what degree. I'd understand if their main purpose was revenue. I get that, it's a business. But to side step its other purpose so dramatically as to produce such poor customer service that even just in 12 reviews, you can identify a pattern of consistent failures that ultimately drive away customers, such as myself, is mindblowing.
I committed long ago to speak with my wallet since that is the only thing companies want to hear where they won't transfer you to someone overseas who cares as much for you and your experience as they do a hippopotamus fart in Kenya. That is why, regardless of any attempts to salvage my experience with Fingerhut, I am done using them, and cutting my ties. I will not close my account, as I know that doing so means nothing to them, and would, in fact, have an impact on my own credit. I just simply won't use it. Farewell, Fingerhut, your steady demise will be one I can see coming from now, and will be far from shocked upon your ceasing to even exist in the future for having driven away so many customers, and potential customers by word of mouth, of your horrific customer service. Good day.

Then they wanted my name and address and phone number. The women just died about 15 days ago, she left nothing, had nothing. You must have a lot of whiners on this site. I have dealt with Fingerhut for 2 years and have built my credit up from bad to good and I am on SS. I can do what I could never do when I was working, buy nice things and each item has customer reviews that are honest. I have a $530 watch that cost $500 on line, an Apple computer that cost $50 more than the Apple store and most of all, one summer I thought I would die (I am 70) because I had a hard time breathing in the heat. I called customer service and ordered an air conditioner and told them my situation. They expedited my order and I had it in two days. I pay three times the payment amount and that is how you do it. At some point, you can become a member of Credit Karma to keep track, you can get a credit card and pay off Fingerhut and save money but I wont do that because I like how they treat me when I have a problem.

I placed an order with Fingerhut Fresh Start on December 10th. Apparently Fresh Start is low on their priority list, except they make sure they charge you right away. I was not informed that they cancelled my order until I called in on December 15th. Apparently they had some items out of stock and they cancelled the order instead of contacting me.
On December 16th I called back to place the order again and was promised Christmas delivery. Upon receiving my order confirmation I saw they conveniently missed the "free" blanket I was to receive for paying for one... buy one get one free... I called two different representatives who told me this would be added to my order prior to delivery. I received the shipping confirmation on December 18th and saw the blanket was still missing. I called in and was told that the blanket was now out of stock and I would have to wait 4-6 weeks before I could request it be sent... On December 21st I received the first part of my order, a video game, which arrived in a plastic bag smashed to pieces.
The game was intact but the package was ripped in half and the game has huge indents in it from the plastic shards that rubbed against it. What kind of company sends a video game in a plastic bag? So I contacted Fingerhut again and was told I would have to wait 10 days for a return label and then another 10 days for them to process the return, and then I "might" receive credit for the defective item. I called customer service to speak with a supervisor and after being hung up on twice, was transferred to a "supervisor" voicemail... not surprised but no phone call was returned.
Then on December 22nd I realized the second portion of my order was still not showing as in transit on UPS. I contacted UPS who told me to contact the shipper. Upon contacting Fingerhut on 12/23 I was told first that my item would be here on 12/24, but it was not picked up yet. Then the representative said, "Unfortunately, no, the items would not be arriving in time for Christmas", and I was told there was nothing else they could do for me. According to UPS the package is still not even in their possession to ship, so this is an error ENTIRELY on Fingerhut's end. And they are not willing to do anything to correct it. I am contacting my bank and the Better Business Bureau. I am not paying for this absolutely awful service.

I placed an order for a fireplace heater. When it arrived, the heater insert was malfunctioning. I called customer service and was told that I can use return label and return it. I did that and took it down to my local post office and was told the label was invalid. I called Cust Service again and was told to call UPS. I called UPS and they also told me it was invalid. I called Fingerhut again and they resent me a label and it was for Fedex. I asked them if the replacement insert would be sent to me today. They told me yes, they will send the replacement today and to call back in a couple days to get the tracking number. I hung up and called back just to be sure and they told again it was sent out.
I called today to get the tracking number and they told me that it was not sent out and will not be sent until the broken unit is sent back and processed. I told them this is unacceptable. I was lied to and they need to send me the product today because it is not fair that as a paying customer, I shouldn't have to wait even longer for a product that was shipped to be broken. They basically said their hands are tied. This is the worst customer service experience I have ever experienced. I told them I needed to speak with a Supervisor and got, "Well, no one is here." So I told them since it was that easy for them to take it out, it should be that easy to put my money back in. Nope. I proceeded to get the runaround from one person to the next and then was told it would be back in my account in 24 -48 hrs. Well, that was Friday, hmm, so I called and now they say Wednesday. I told them if it's not in my account by this time, I'm calling the BBB.
I also told them since they charge people interest basically and late fees that I should do that to the company. I have never had a problem with them before and it saddens me that this company that I buy from all the time could treat me so badly. This is actually my very first time writing a bad review for any business ever! I usually understand when something is my fault and let it go if I get upset with a business. Well, this company's customer service line is unbelievable. My boyfriend decided to make a payment early to get it out of the way even though I was set up for automatic payments. He made a payment, then 2 days later on the scheduled date they charged me again. I called them and asked if they could please reverse the charge as I already paid this month. They declined. (Which is fine, I could live with that.) The customer service lady said "We can't since it's not Fingerhut's fault you made an extra payment." I can't believe she said that!! I work for a call center myself and you are never suppose to say something like that. Anyway, I hung up the phone and checked my bank account. ANOTHER payment was charged to my account & overdrew my bank account.
At this point I was very mad. I called them back and told them that I was charged 3 times in one week for one product. No apology was given. She kept placing me on hold. She finally told me that my two charges will be refunded through check. I thanked her and didn't catch quite what she said about a check. She was very hard to understand. I asked "So it's coming in the form of a check not directly back to my account?" She was hesitant and put me on hold, came back and said I would get a check in 15 business days. Weird because I need to have the charges reversed for my overdraft fee to lift. I call back in hopes to get someone who I can understand better. I seriously called around 7 different times trying to get information.
When I called back I got a barely English speaking man. I said "I was just on the phone with someone and she told me that my last two charges would be refunded, so I would just like to verify that. He placed me on hold then came back on asking how he could help me today, so I explained again. After being put on hold countless times (he even forgot to press the hold button and started singing!!!) he comes back on and says "I can't find this out until 24 hours from now." At this point I'm furious. I hung up with him and called back multiple times. I finally gave in and tried to talk with someone who sounded just like him. I explained that all I'm trying to do is verify my two refunds and that they will be reversed to my bank account. He said "Yes you will be refunded 135.00." I said " No, I'm supposed to be only refunded 48.00 for the two payments, I'm not returning the whole product!"
He put me on hold countless times. So many that it was absolutely ridiculous!!! He finally gets on saying that he will refund me for the last two charges...which the other lady said she was already going to do!!! I said "OK thanks, but the previous woman said she was going to as well." I was just trying to get some clarity!!! I asked "Will it be in the form of a check or in my bank account?" He said "Bank account. Call your bank and have them reverse charges" I called my bank and they said the charges weren't reversed so I called Fingerhut back and requested a supervisor. The lady said there is a meeting now and the supervisor will call me back in an hour. I gave her my number & still never received a call and it's the next day. I hate this company!!!

It seems like the only people who write reviews are people who are mad. You’re an idiot if you think that Fingerhut is going to be something unbelievable. It is meant for people with bad or no credit. They gave me a chance to rebuild my credit when no one else would. Within a year they have raised my limit three times. Because of my good history with them I was just pre-approved with Capital one. Yes you will pay double the price for an item. They charge you shipping costs if you return something, hound you to death if you have any available credit that you haven't used and customer service is rude.
These are the reasons I am giving them a 3 star rating. I have always received what I have ordered within 7-10 days. The product is always as it is represented. If you wait they often email you coupons for up to 25% off or free shipping which brings a lot of product even in price to Amazon. Fingerhut is good. I have no unjust complaints against them. I would recommend them to people of good faith and intentions who need help with their credit.

You may want to waste your time shopping elsewhere. After three weeks of eating on the floor I regret using this company. Very upset they have the table I want that matches all my decor cause the stress I have went through has been horrible. For over the last three weeks my wife and I have been trying to order from their site. First they canceled the order after some items were shipped and claimed fraud protection but never called or contacted me. In the process we left three messages for them to call us back. Got a letter in the mail, called that number, left messages for them to call us back.
Still nothing. We then finally after calling in and getting hung up on twice got a man that did not speak english whom was talking in another language to a co-worker instead of placing us on hold. Like how rude was that. I wish I could understand what he was saying cause after that call I was promised a supervisor call back and never got one. We called again got a woman name rebecca that was going to call us back but never did. Again we called in and got a cristy whom promised she would call us back and never did. Keep in mind everytime we called in we asked for supervisor and corporate number which no one could provide us with. Finally we emailed. Still till this day no response.
We finally seen that they applied our credit back onto our account today. We called in to place an order get a nice man whom tries to place it but it does not go through so he says he will call us back at six and to our surprise he does. But the order wont go through so he sends us to the credit department that tells us "there is another hold on the account. There is no department I can speak to. We just wait and see if it gets removed." That is what he tells me. I ask for a supervisor. He says he does not have one. I ask for corporate. He says he does not have their information either.
So I say "I want a supervisor. No way you don't have one". He says he will have one call us back so I ask for the confirmation number to the request for a supervisor call back. He said "we do not have one. I fill out a slip and put it in a box." At this point my wife that does retention management for a large corporation has decided to take measures into our own hands. I am coming here as a start. I cant believe that I am having all of these troubles trying to give them my business. However this is where it has led me. They have put balances on my account for stuff that was canceled and I had to wait for them to decided to fix the error and adjust the credit.
I am so amazed at the countless, more than ten calls we have made and hours we spent on hold to get no supervisor call backs, people in other countries refusing to help us, hung up on and just ignored. We have intentions on letting everyone know how bad this company's customer service is and just how much they disregard their customers. They have not a care in the world. They want our money and that is all. Also I have recorded the conversations cause there were two that the agents had in other languages to provide.
I have call records and times spent on hold and on calls to provide and I have the email snapshots of what was sent to them that they never replied to. I find it crazy that not one person we have spoken to has a phone number where they can be reached or an email address or an employee ID or some sort of identification. They only have first names to provide to us and I have spoken to three different meralands. Yes not pronounced marilyn. Seems we are given fake names and I am starting to wonder about this company all together.

I have been a customer with Fingerhut for two years. I wanted to rebuild my credit. They gave me an account with 400.00 to start with. I paid the balance of what I used immediately. They gave me an increase. Every time I would pay my balance out, they would give me an increase. My complaint is their interest is to high. It seems to me as I pay my bill down the interest being so high it just take my account balance back up to where it was. I do understand that it is a revolving account and if you don't pay enough on the bill, it does not take the payment down. When you pay 20.00-30.00 over your payment and they charge that in interest that is a freaking RIPOFF.
I am done with these high interest rates of trying to rebuild your credit. The creditors could care less about me rebuilding my credit. They look for people like me to prey upon. So I have learned, although I choose to rebuild my credit, but sometimes you really have to ask the question is it worth rebuilding your credit or do as Dave Ramsey say and pay for everything with cash! I'm an old disabled man on Social Security, and just wanted to buy something to re-establish credit since my divorce 20 years earlier. Fingerhut seemed an easy way to start. Yes, the item was a bit overpriced, but I figured that their promised $14.95 a month payments were doable. Well, I got an education right at the start, when I tried to order on the website. I had to call their customer service to pay a $30 down payment, and none of the operators I spoke to seemed to know what to do. None of them even spoke clear English; they are off-shore in Pakistan or India. I have bad hearing and the accents made it worse. After repeatedly calling different numbers they gave me, I was finally able to place the order and make my down payment. It took them 10 days to ship my order!
Here's how it breaks down, rounded: $130 for an induction cooktop sold on TV for $100; $20 for shipping and handling; $10 for sales taxes, total of $160. Minus my down payment, that's $130. Then the bill comes, and they have added a finance charge of around $10. Now it's around $140, divided by 6, and my "$15" payments are now over $23 a month!
I'll pay it, but I'll NEVER do business with Fingerhut again! And I recommend that if you are looking to establish credit, start small, some local furniture companies and jewelers also offer credit and will report a good history. I'll end up paying $170 for ONE of these cooktops, when the TV ad offers TWO for $100 (just pay extra shipping), and with all that, and their pan set offer, it would have come to LESS than $170 and "three easy payments!" Don't be suckered in by Fingerhut. They are scam artists extraordinaire, and hide behind customer service agents who have no accountability because they are just phone-bank people in Bangalore.

Well I decided to open an account to do Xmas shopping and after I filled out my credit app I had to call them due to credit fraud in the past. So I had to verify the phone #. I called 4 times because they kept telling me I was giving them the wrong p# and told me to contact the three credit bureaus to find out the phone number I had on file. The last time I called Fingerhut I was told by Melissa that the phone number I was given was correct the entire time. And even though I was giving the correct number they told me that now I had to now fax or email them a bunch of stuff. And needless to say they pulled a hard inquiry on my credit report and I will be contacting the BBB, all three credit bureaus again to get that pulled off of my account, as well as contacting the newspapers in the news to let them know how they treat their customers!!!

I called to inquire about a memory foam mattress and to learn about the firmness, or lack of, as much as possible. The mattress will be for my son who's having serious back problems. Who I got was an arrogant, attitude riddled punk from the word go and I don't know why. He was completely sarcastic and rude with every part of every sentence. When he then learned that I was happy that the mattress turned out to be a nice firmness, he was completely quick to ask if I wanted to start the purchase then.
When I told him that I wasn't ready to buy just yet, I'll do it later online, he turned in to GIGANTOJERK. Then he said something about him being overseas. I found that curious. I asked him where he is, he said he's in the Philippines! Then I was irritated... Another example of US jobs from a US company being overseas. Not only was there complete disappointment by a two year olds, but also had to pay 90 for a 60 dollar doll, and it never worked once. So, called, told them the product never worked. Asked them for refund sticker. They sent me catalog. Waited few weeks. No sticker. Called back Fingerhut. Again, they said they would send it. Waited. Still no sticker. Called for the 3rd time. Weeks ago. Still no sticker. To resend my broken product paid them 30 dollars to ship.
As of today, got a 20 dollar coupon for being good customer. Still no sticker for a return. Fingerhut will not let me talk to a manager. Every time I ask, they play me off. Have sent complaints. Made calls. Still no sticker. Think they are just waiting till it's too late to return it, and it eats at my heart, coz they are overcharging for products. So, I looked closer at my account, saw that my credit availability was $0? I called to find out what was going on. 1st rep was not able to verify for sure what was going on so she took my information for a manager to call me back. No manager call back. So when I checked my credit, sure enough, the account was placed in charge off. I have made countless attempts to contact the company, no response. Asked for a supervisor and got Celina who was not helpful at all. I asked to talk to her manager since I was not getting anywhere with her about making the appropriate change for the correct address. She conveniently said there was no one available to talk to me about getting the address corrected. I called every number I could find for Finger Hut including the corporate number and have not been able to talk to anyone that can get my correct address updated. The customer rep was quick take my information and my $30 payment via debt card after which she said it'll just take two days to process my order. The call disconnects. So I was left with the impression that my phone will be shipped within or shortly after two days. Having that not be the case, I felt it was the professional duty of the rep to educate me on the entire process and delivery. I felt like I was tricked with the reps wording.
Anyways. Three days came and went so I contacted customer service. The first rep you could tell she gave two ** about my situation. She told me in a rude and snotty way that it was gonna be just about two weeks. When I asked to cancel my order she quickly said no it already in transit there's nothing that can be done then (her tone had me imagine her pulling out a knife on me) quickly asked if there was anything else she could help me out with. I then requested a supervisor she dropped the call. I called back got a nicer Rep whom I walked thru that entire ID process and explained my request. She attempted to give the same explanation. I requested a supervisor she politely placed me on a long hold (10 to 15 mins) for which I had time to research and realized that Finger hut was charging nearly a $80 more than what I could actually buy the phone for at a retailer.
After the long hold she tells me there isn't a supervisor available to speak with me. After some tough words with her (I've work/worked in a call center for over 13 years) you not gonna tell me there's no supervisor available. So she placed me back on hold 8 mins later I get a supervisor who offers to cancel my order however the time-frame between cancelling my order and then issuing out a refund. I wouldn't receive my $30 back until about if not after my told delivery date. Which I felt was kinda some BS make up but, I just decided to wait for it my order rather than risk not getting my money back until GOD know when after all this is FINGERHUT AKA give you the "MIDDLE" FINGERHUT. So I decided to take my chances waiting for the damn phone to come.

So I thought "oh wow, this is great since I am having this shipped to another state." When I went to check out it said I couldn't use it. I called the company, the fella took my order, kept me waiting on the line to see what the problem was on the shipping code. He finally said that was for new customers. When I called to figure out what was going on all they could say was my shipping address needed to be verified.
So why didn't they call me to verify it??? After that was settled I attempted to place the same order and I was told that several items were out of stock and I would have to reorder them at a later time on my own. When I finally received my products they had in stock I realized that it's cheap poorly made stuff. I ordered silver silverware that began to rust after 1 wash. I order glass bowls with plastic lids, 4 different sets and the lids will never be able to go in the dishwasher or microwave due to poor quality. They said I'd be receiving it by 11/5, only to find out on 11/6 that it was backordered again and I wouldn't receive it until 11/23!!! Over a month after I placed the order. So upon trying to cancel it, I've had to repeat the same process 4 times because nobody got it done. I also never received a part of my package that they said was delivered, which also took me 4 times to get credited. If I were you, I would not even consider wasting time to spend your hard earned cash!
And worse yet... the charges you incur when you purchase on time! That's another reason I paid them off in a hurry! Don't buy crap! Make it before you even think about buying from them! And this was not the first time I purchased! The year before I spent $1000+! And it was stupid to expect different! So, there you have it! Got this card to boost credit like many others on here. It is decent enough and when it comes to the prices, well that's the price you pay to establish credit I suppose. The downfall I found is that each time you purchase something from them using your credit line they conduct a HARD check on your credit report... each and every time! I thought that since I was already an established buyer with them who has bought and paid off items already that the need for the hard checks wouldn't be necessary.
Well I subscribe to several credit report bureaus to keep tabs on my scores and found that for every purchase I made Fingerhut showed up as a hard check. They are offering credit and the chance for credit improvement but dinging your credit score each time you buy something. I quit using them once I noticed this and opened credit lines elsewhere. The good thing about easily getting a credit line with Fingerhut is that it helps you significantly when you apply for other store lines as you have now established a good history with payments of the same caliber. My suggestion is use it until you're happy with your score but keep a close eye on those hard checks.

My initial credit limit was $200 and was moved up to a $400 limit during holidays. From making all payments on time my limit was increased to $1100. Are there products slightly overpriced? Yes they are but it's nothing to compared to building your credit.
Building credit is about opening accounts and keeping them active for as long as possible. In regards to credit building if you have a poor credit score and wish to rebuild input accurate information, verify it before purchasing and make the minimum payment ON TIME. Trust me, it will help you way more than hurt you. People pay credit repair agencies to do the same and get nothing in return but a better credit score. Why not build your credit and get something in return for it?

I went to order a laptop from fingerhut.com, I got approved for $500 credit (Really? That low? If I wanted something under $500 I would just pay for it in full). I had just recently moved and was in need of a new laptop. There was an alright laptop at $2999, with monthly payments around $120.75. I figured fine, I'll just pay it off in 2 payments, not a big deal. I go to check out the laptop, I can't do express delivery or any sort of expedited delivery options AT ALL. It's literally not an option. It's going to take over 2 weeks to get it. Alright fine. It sucks but it's not that huge of a deal... But then, I go to the payments. Here's where it gets fun.
So, remember the $500 credit they gave me? Well, I can only do the monthly payment options on orders below my credit limit. If it was under $500 I would just pay it in full. What's the point of the $500 credit then? So, since it's over that I HAVE to buy it out. There's no option or way to do monthly payments on something that's over that limit. The entire site is a giant sham. It's basically a bait and switch. It's just lies and gimmicks to get you in. Oh, they also gave me a "FREE" promo code for any new purchase. Here's the fine print for the "Promo code":
"Offer ends 8/22/15 at 11:59 pm CT. Purchase any product Sitewide to receive a FREE Surprise Gift. Enter promotion code E2871 during checkout to get your free gift. Not valid on Fingerhut FreshStart purchases. Not valid on previous purchases. Promotion code only valid online. One promotion code per order. Cannot be combined with other Fingerhut offers."
Sounds easy enough. I'm making a purchase before that date and time. It is SITE WIDE, meaning... ANYTHING on the site. Not valid on Fingerhut FreshStart purchases. What's FreshStart? It's for college kids, basically. Does not apply to me. There were no other offers, this isn't a previous offer (I'm still in checkout). I'm doing it online and only this promo code. So why is the code not valid? Oh is this just another gimmick to get people in? That's all this site is.

The representative told me that they would send me an affidavit for me to fill out and after receiving the affidavit they will start an investigation. I did everything they asked me to do. Two weeks later I received a letter stating that there was nothing they could do for me since I had signed for the package.
I asked to speak to a supervisor and I explained my situation. He sent me a letter saying that I had to fill out a police report. Last October, my Fingerhut account got hacked into. Someone changed my identity. They changed both my address and phone number to out of state.. They stole a $779 Sony DSLR camera from my account. Even though I found out within the week, the camera was already delivered. I brought my case all the way to the FDIC, who requested the file from Web Bank/Fingerhut. According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, I had the right to that file. And Web Bank said "No" to the FDIC, boldly violating the law. There is a law out there to protect victims.
Two weeks after saying that they would not release the file to the FDIC, they sent me a CD recording of the hacking incident. They used a relay system and all they had was my social security number, not even an account number or catalogue. The email to track the order was not mine. I was told of family involvement and a supposed friend (aka criminal) overtook my Chromebook at the time of the order, but everything is hopeless. Afterwards, they hacked into iCloud, mail, T-Mobile, AT&T, Samsung, always changing security questions, birthdates, passwords... I mean there is a huge hacking network that has even hacked into the credit bureaus, my tax files, my sec-8... and I could have stopped a hacking network if Web Bank/Fingerhut had not violated the law and protected a hacking network.
Sad to say, Fingerhut likes criminals and Web Bank is criminal. And these hackers broke into my apartment a couple of weeks ago and stole a SIM card for a tablet and installed a tablet's SIM card into a T-Mobile Apple iPhone4s, which hacked into my T-Mobile account and altered my outgoing and incoming calls... I think for the sake of this nation's security, Fingerhut/Web Bank should not protect criminals... Sad... my phone is never secure any longer and no one can call either home or cell very well.

I have handled my account the same way from the beginning. Bill is due between 25 and 28 of each month. From the first one due I made payments between the 1st and the 10th as not to be late by one hour. Well this time in May I made it on the first day of the month. I always get a statement saying it's due this time due on the 27th but already paid. Today I get a phone call the 29. With their spell of this is an attempt to collect a debt. I check my bank account and my Fingerhut account and it has gone thru both. So I call back and she say I'm in default for my payment that was due on the 27th. I said I made that payment on the 1st of May as always. She says your due again on the 27th and now it's late.
Still explaining that no the payment for May was made on the first of May. After speaking to 3 people that there was so much noise in the background and accents so thick it was difficult to even understand what they were trying to say. I finally deciphered that she was say I made it too early and now another was due. And unless I made it I would be in default. I have never heard of a company saying you made your payment too early and now you're in default. She was mad when I said that and hung up on me.
I finally got hold of a ** on Chat help that was very helpful and promised this would be cleared up in 24 to 48 Hrs and late fees would be removed. This call center is very unfriendly and down right rude. I hope the calls are recorded and someone in upper management listens to them from start to finish. I know there are things I pay a little more for but as they say it is what it is. Do keep all original packaging in good condition if you think an issue will arise. It is a return issue with them. Fair warning but all in all they have not in the three to four years given me any major issues. Customer services does have some issues but I work with the public so I have quite a bit of patience and I know how to get my point across one way or other.
Fingerhut is not Walmart or Target, or any other company you deal with, do they have issues? Yes. Can I deal with the ones I faced? Yes. After putting the nativity set together and putting up all the decorations I noticed that the plug timer did not work properly. The construction of the nativity set was not of good quality. There was paint missing on the nose of Mary (See attachment. How ironic, the photo from website shows exactly what we received) and the light for the donkey was so dim it could not be seen at night. Also, the staff for the Shepherd was missing. I spoke with customer service and was told to use the return label that was included with the shipment. There was only one label. I called Fedex and they picked up the same 3 boxes that was delivered to me.
After several weeks had passed, I started receiving calls from Fingerhut representatives asking for payment. I informed them that I had returned all items to Fingerhut and that I owed nothing. Trying to communicate with the representatives was very difficult because of the language barrier. They followed a script regardless of what I said. I was told over & over to pay and they would take care of the rest. Fingerhut representatives was very harassing, calling 4 times or more a day. It got to the point I blocked them on my cell phone. On March 10, 2013, a woman called (could not understand her name) and stated Fingerhut would send out a form. I never received the form only received incorrect statements.
After further investigation it seems that the problem is that there are 2 different tracking numbers associated with the order but only one return label. That label had the return tracking # ** for the Master Craft 3 Outlet Outdoor Timer PH006 and tracking # ** for the 9-pc. African American Nativity Set K7492. I am 70 years old and my family and my wife's family grew up on Fingerhut! But as it stands right now we will never use Fingerhut again!!!

My husband ordered a TV for surprise for me, after rush delivery, and about 3 weeks, he finally told m. We called Fingerhut, & said it was delivered to same physical address 4 towns over, & we're responsible for retrieving it, & responsible for paying for it. Got the letter from them admitting they're wrong, but expect me to file police report. When they admit their wrong delivery, I may be shot stepping on a stranger's porch demanding my tv, cause fingerhut says I am responsible for retrieving it, and they did send me another, but now says I owe for both! Really, who in their right mind would step on a stranger's front porch, demanding a tv. So now I have been laughed out of local police departments, & have to file report in town they delivered it to! Their mistake and they admit it, but I have to be the one to retrieve it!!???? & still pay for their wrong doing!!!!!!!!!

I paid off my account with Fingerhut. The following month I received a bill for 6.95. I called customer service billing. Was told that it was a mistake that I had actually over paid and I was due that amount back and I would receive a check. The following month after this I received yet another bill for the same amount. Once again I phoned and once again was told the same. The third month I received yet another bill I yet again. I called and at this time I was told that I have home protection and was being billed for this. I then told fingerhut this is a mistake. I did not order no home protection and they needed to give me credit. I was told well it is a third party and I will have to speak to them directly to get credit.
I called the number that was provided to me. Called and was told I was not even in the system so therefore Fingerhut will have to correct this. I then phoned fingerhut and told them that I was not even in the system so therefore they are to remove this from theirs. I was told that no this is not what they have in their system. I then told them "how can you when they don't even have me in theirs so I have not ordered, did not want and paid off my account and at no time was I made aware of anything." I told them they needed to contact this company of theirs. They then told me "no we will not do that." I stated "but you can bill me for something I do not have" and they better correct it.
Fourth month yet again a bill and several phone calls. Very nasty ones. Very rude. I refuse to pay for this as I was not even aware, did not order and am not in the system for a very rude rep from Fingerhut was very nasty and told me I would have to yet call the company again to get credit credit for something I am not even in the system for.

I returned a tablet I had bought. I ordered one for myself and was going to give other as a gift. I did not give as a gift so I returned it. Well it seems that they credited me $0 and when I called to ask about it I was told she saw that I ordered 2 (different orders) so I was charged for 2 (no kidding really) to which I told her one was returned so I should get a credit right? She said it was returned damaged.
It wasn't damaged when I sent it back and stated that and that's when she told me she had found the credit and told me how much the credit was for (I had told her system showing credit $0). Well I'm still waiting and am not happy about it. It seemed like these reps are reading from a script and not a very good one I might add. Tried to do an online chat and was told the wait time would be 34 minutes (ummm no thanks) so hopefully I will get a response for the email I sent.
I've been with them for 3 years now and never had issues before but it seems that ever since they had a "system upgrade" stuff has been screwed up. I've always paid on time but had a medical issue in March and scheduled my payment for after the due date so when I called to talk about the refund all she kept telling me I was past due and I needed to make a payment (no kidding and will no longer be past due in May). When I called about this return I was told I needed to call and talk to a rep and she tried to give me the number (that I used and got her) so I just basically said never mind and hung up. I did call back and that's when I was told all the other stuff (I know I told this story backwards). I don't think I will be ordering from them again in the future if this is the customer service we get from now on.

I got Fingerhut catalogs repeatedly. It said I had credit so I finally ordered a tablet. I waited to see when the first payment would be taken out of bank account. It never was. I checked with Fingerhut using the account number on the 2 catalogs I got. Phone system said there was no such account. I want to cancel the whole thing but can't reach a human being to speak to. Just hope they don't take out payment when I DON'T know it. I won't have the funds to cover it. I WON'T BE ORDERING FROM THEM EVER. TOO MANY BAD REVIEWS.

26 in. mountain bike--huffy--(granite) - Bought 2 of the above bikes and when trying to ride them, we discovered that they have a dangerous flaw. When turning moderately left or right ,the front tire hits the pedal and caused my wife and I to fall off twice. I took the bikes to a repair shop to possibly have them adjusted and was told that the frame would have to be cut and re-welded @ a cost of $300.00 for both. Now trying to get compensation from Fingerhut and or Huffy w/ no response from either. My advice is… don’t buy… don’t ride.

I ordered a table last year around thanksgiving. The cost was high and I thought the chairs came with it. I received just the table and realized it wasn't worth it. It came with no instructions and I'm sure there was something missing because there was nothing to connect the legs to the table. I returned the item within the time limit but forgot to keep the tracking number on the return receipt. IT IS PITIFUL THAT I HAVE TALKED TO AT LEAST 20 different people about the issue and they cannot help me so I am stuck paying every month for a table that I do not have in my home! The post office said they can't do anything for me because they returned the item and I do not have the return tracking number! Stay away from this company!!! They don't care when you call. They are very incompetent and unprofessional. I learned a lesson and I plan on suing them!

Every complaint and review from everyone on here is so so true. They are a very bad company who don't give a damn about their customers. They just steal your money. They owe me a refund and they are pretty much refusing to give it to me from what I figure. Every time I contact them I get: "It has been processed And you should receive it in 15 days." I say "that's ** lady" cause I know for a fact that it only takes 3 days for it to get into my account because I have had money returned to my account many times and the most that it has ever taken was 2 days. I called the BBB on them and they are going to try and help me. They are rip offs And thieves and I do not understand how they get away with it. Can anyone tell me how they are still in business with such a bad reputation? Cause I don't understand it? I will never ever do business with those rip offs again.

Fingerhut's billing system is bad. 3 months now we have been trying to get a bill. 1st month I called and asked them for a statement, and they said I should have got one. The billing dept calls me and says I am late, they charged me a late fee. NOT OUR FAULT. 2nd month we receive a paper bill for $20.99. Ok we sent that month that bill. Today 4-11-15 they say we didn't send a full payment, s/b 23.99 and wanted to take care of the $3... plus a late fee. We bought a feather comforter for $299 (not a good one) and today we still owe $305 and getting worse. NEVER AGAIN WITH THIS FOREIGN COMPANY. We are SSI and need stability. They are not reliable. We owe more now than when we started..

The response I got said they could not do it via email and that I would have to call. I called. The woman on the phone (from a phone center in the Phillippines) was difficult to understand and said she couldn't help me. Not sure what a consumer can do.

I am a first time buyer from Fingerhut and I will say that I will never order anything again. I ordered two pieces of furniture on March 1 this year. One of my items arrived, on time, to the correct address. The second item arrived to some apartment, for whatever reason, not my address. I called once to twice a week to get resolution and finally after calling today (April 2). I am told I need to submit a form to show I did not receive the item. Well, obviously if it was delivered by UPS to an address not on my account, wouldn't that be proof enough I didn't receive the item? UPS even sent me a print out of the address.

I never really seemed to have a problem with Fingerhut until recently. I get these Customer Service agents that don't seem to understand or they don't care about how I feel or what I want completely and today it got worse. I told the agent I was trying to look something up and then I came back to message her and she was gone, she disconnected me. Why didn't she just tell me she had a time limit or something? Then, I asked another agent a question and he never answered me. So, if it doesn't get better soon I won't be spending any more money over there.

I had my first payment due Feb.13. I paid it early Jan. and then in Feb., I paid March payment. I called Fingerhut and told them this. I was told yes it was fine but not to pay early any more. So now my April payment coming up due was fixin to go ahead and pay, and I get a notice of a $14.90 late fee because I didn't pay March Payment. So I am very very angry. The Bank doesn't penalize me for making my car payment early. How stupid is this. They kept saying it came off your balance bull it did with you charging me a $14.90 late fee. So Please, People I would not ever ever use them again.
