Second, I am putting the table together and one of the attached screws in the table leg is too short, and does not come through the hole in the table. Therfore, I cannot attach the hardware (flat washer, spring washer, and hex nut) to the screw.

There were two incidents that occured with Fingerhut.
1.) My mother purchased a cookware set for me as a gift, and while waiting for this cookware set to arrive, which lingered for several weeks, it turned out that Fingerhut had cancelled the order without notifying my mother about it. 2.) So she re-ordered but this time upgraded to a cookware set with more pieces, 40-piece cookware set that included pots and pans, plastic containers with lids, and cannisters. When this set arrived, it arrived in extremely poor condition. The box it was shipped was wobbly and in general unsturdy. The items inside were not wrapped well individually in plastic; some were wrapped while others weren't. The most noticeable condition of the product is that the items were dirty, as in grease and dirt. I had to use gloves to take the pieces out because my fingers would get dirt on them. The lids of the plastic containers were all scratched up to the nth degree as if dragged for miles and they too were filthy. The lids of the cannisters were already tarnished. The handles of these same lids were really loose, not secured well. On the lids of the pots and pans opposite the side of the handle, the metal fasteners were chipped. In addition to the presentation of this cookware set, I found what at first appeared to be a chunk of hair but it was some grungy srawlike material that ended up in the box during the packaging process. Everything I just mentioned is what I wrote in my description on the return form. Finally, my main complaint: Upon returning this item, I followed the company procedure which was in writing that to return the item it had to be done through FEDEX, although initially it was delivered to me by UPS. There was no prepaid shipping label, so I had to pay the shipment costs of $21.36. I wrote a follow-up letter requesting reimbursement for the postage I paid, and now they tell me they have declined my request. I would have understood if I returned it just because it was the wrong color or size, but this product arrived unacceptable in its condition, damaged, and dirty. Before sending the letter to request a reimbursement, I spoke to a Fingerhut rep and she agreed that I should be reimbursed for postage for returning an item that arrived in poor condition, and in addition I had to pay for something that was a gift to me. This morning I spoke to another rep and he told me, had I called Fingerhut before sending the package out, they would've sent me a prepaid postage. So what difference really does it make if I sent it to them and now seek reimbursement if they claim they would've sent me a prepaid postage? The rep also admits how would I have known this unless the instructions mention this. It only stated to bring it to FEDEX and after that I took what I believed to be the proper steps, write a letter to make the request which the first rep advised me to do.

As I explained people don't foresee when they will loose their jobs. They are just rude and impolite. I explained we are trying to keep from losing our home and everything to worry about this type of bill at this time. They don't care you owe us. It simple not lawful to allow these people to treat people like this when they have fell on hard times and trying to keep a home and a roof and food in a home for a child. It's sick these people value money more than a person's well being.

I purchased a camcorder from them only to find out that it had a defect. So i was informed to send it back to them. I sent the camera back and they still sent me a bill for $16.99. I called them to tell them that i had sent it back and i was informed that i had to make the payment anyway. I should of thought at that time but i didn't. I was told that it would be credited to my account. So i decided to order a different camcorder from them intead. The $16.99 was to come off the balance owed for this. I have had the camera for almost a month now and i received a bill for $13.99 due on 10/26/08. I called to tell them that i already made a payment of $16.99. Evidently this doesn't count as my first payment. So i tell them i get paid on the 1st and the third of the month. They offer to change my payment arrangements to fit around the time i get paid. I am informed that they don't accept post dated checks so to call back 10/27/08 to have the late fee waived and that my account would be noted. So I call back on the 27th and i am informed that my account has not been noted and that they now want a post dated check, over the phone to boot. I tell them that it was supposed to be taken care of so then the woman tells me that its ok i can pay as planned on 10/31/08 with no late fees that she will note my account. As soon as i hang up they call me back wanting to collect the $13.99. Here we go again. I tell the guy on the other end that i just got off the phone with them and that it was taking care of. He more or less demands payment over the phone via post dated check. I tell him once again that its been taking care of and tells me that he will note my account for me.That was on Monday. Now its Wednesday, my phone has done nothing but ring all day long. I finally answered it and guess who it was Fingerhut wanting to know where the $13.99 is. They want a post dated check again. By this time i am truely upset with them. I tell the lady i will pay them Friday. But guess what? Next week i will get another bill for $13.99 for November. So basically i am getting ripped off here. I already paid $16.99 so actually i should be credited $3.00 for Novembers bill. I should only have to pay $10.00 this time then $13.99 a month. Plus now they want to charge me a $3.00 processing fee, when does it all end? I am not sending another dime.

I called Fingerhut the next day and explained what happened. My response was they were not responsible, for whatever happened. The table was intact when it left the factory. I would like a replacement table. I still have to pay for the table, even though it exploded. To show such a lack of concern, for what could of sent any one of the two ladies to hospital is intolerable.

The two ladies were traumatized for sometime after the table exploded, one of them was an elderly lady. Thank god she didn't have an heart attack, the sound of that table exploding is still rings in my ears. I would contact an attorney only if the company refuses to replace the table. All I know is Fingerhut is trying to say that I purchased some items from them in 1997 (have NO idea what). This is bogus. But I have a collection agency that has put a freeze on my bank accounts. I called the collection agency Rubin & Rothman and the woman is not able to give me any info on Fingerhut, except that the payoff balance is $3011.00 and that it could have been a small bill but that with the 90 cent interest every day for the last ELEVEN years it has gotten so high. She just keeps saying she is the Middle person and that she had no other information but I could always go on the Fingerhut website to find a customer service number.

In the meantime, I was forced into doing a quick collect Western Union for $400 so the lien could be taken off of my account, two days later I was told I have to pay $150 for 4 months at which time I will either have to pay the balance in full or divide the balance into two payments. I have not paid the $150 and will not. Again I ask for what? I have not ordered anything from them, I got a Credit Report to see what was going on and the report says three different dates.12-01, 03-07 and 04-07. I assure you, I have not received or bought any merchandise from this company. When I called Fingerhut I spoke to a woman by the name of Sheena that is all she would give me and she explained that the REAL Fingerhut has shut down in 2002 and whoever they are just bought the actual Fingerhut name. She said the defunct company was now Compucredit and they only have a fax number and a P.O. Box. They have no number or physical person I can speak with. The collection agency has given me until 03-24 to speak to someone and get this dispute taken care of in writing or have some type of proof that I am trying to correct this situation or else they will put ANOTHER freeze on my account until I make the appropriate payments. I refuse to make payments on merchandise I never received nor have I ordered just because a company claims that in 1997 I did so. I am also contacting my State's Attorney Generals office and the Better Business Bureau. They should not be allowed to do this to anyone, I mean come on, from 1997, are you kidding me? They got some nerve, this is not my bill to pay and I will FIGHT this to the bitter end.

This claim is on my credit report, My bank account had a lien on it. I was forced to pay this collection agency $400 of which I did not have and was out of my prescriptions for four days waiting for my $400 to be processed and lien taken off of my account. I am still being threatened by the collection agency with the amount of $150 for four months and then the total balance there after. This has been a great hardship in my life.

Fingerhut billed me for a product I never ordered and never received. This was several years ago. I explained that I had no business with them. They still sent the bill to a collection agency. I have written them and explained the situation, but Fingerhut continues to refer the bill to collection agencies.

I have the collection agencies calling me and would like to have Fingerhut cease this. I have done nothing and yet they keep harassing me.

We ordered a 13game and 1 pool table for our Grandchildren and Son for Christmas. We went to assemble this table on Dec.24 2007 and the pool table or the 13 and 1 game table was busted. When Fed Ex delivered the table they left it on the ramp when no one was home. I called Fingerhut on the 26th of Dec. and other attempts of trying to get someone to pick up the table. They sent us a return label and they said to take to the nearest FedX station to return,so the table was loaded in our truck took it to where we was supposed to and they would not accept the table. So we tried to call Fingerhut back numerous times. I did get to speak with Max someone from Fingerhut and he said that the table would be picked up. Well the table was still not picked up. So my huband called back to Fingerhut and finally got someone to give a reference number or whatever it is called.

Finally the 13 in 1 game table was picked up in Feburary of 2008 and we are still getting a bill for this. The bill we received in the mail today still states new balance of $245.00. And we owe Fingerhut nothing. We are good customers with Fingerhut or we were but this makes you wonder about the Company.

I did not receive the bill from Fingerhut until the 12th and I mailed it off the same day. Since then I have got harassing phone calls from their personnel. I find that these people are ignoring the fact that I told them that I have already mailed it off and I am not responsible for the mail delivery. So they should mail the bill earlier to me, not on the 12th for the bill to be paid by the 16th; this is making my bill late so they can collect late fees.

Furthermore, I am going to pay them off as soon as possible and I will not do business with them ever again. I do not want them to send me their catalogues anymore. I will not recommend this company to any of my friends and I will spread the word on how they harrass people when the money has already been mailed off to pay the bill.

We bought through Fingerhut a comforter set for my aunt. She was supposed to make payments for us and failed to. We took over payments and settled the account. Fingerhut was supposed to send us a letter for a phone payment and did not. On January 27, 2004, check #1102 for the amount $80.00, was cleared as a settlement on this account again. I was told that Fingerhut would send us a letter saying the account had been cleared. Fingerhut then proceeded to send it to another collection agency. They have since sent this account to several agencies, who have each tried to collect on the same bill.

On Friday, January 28, 2005, a complaint was filed against Jefferson Capital and Fingerhut with the Consumer Affairs Bureau regarding this account. On August 5, 2005, a letter was sent to Penccro Associates disputing this bill. Fingerhut then sent the bill to Midland Credit, who billed us again. On October 28, 2005, a letter was sent to Midland Credit Management disputing this bill. On February 12, 2008, another bill from Midland Credit management was received offering another settlement. I have sent them another letter disputing this bill.

I had received an email notice on 12-11-07 that an order for a drumming machine had been charged to my account and was going to be shipped to my address, I immediately contacted the customer service dept and notified them of the charge made on my account which I did not authorize or have knowledge of, I was informed that the order was being processed and that I should call back in 72 hours in order to stop shippment of the item.

I called again on the 14th of December and spoke with another rep that informed me that the first rep had mistakenly given me the wrong info and according to her records the package had already been shipped, I was informed that I would be able to send the item back once I had received it and my account would be credited, I waited several weeks for the package to arrive which it never did, I contacted customer service again explaining that I had never recieved the package and was informed that I would need to fill out an affidavit form and that the rep would send this form to me ASAP.

I had received the affidavit form about a week later filled it out and sent it to customer service as directed, I subsequently received a response from them stating that they had investigated the matter and that they would continue to bill my account as their investigation had shown that the item had reached my address. I called customer service yet again and was ultimately switched to Kendra who I assume was the manager of customer service, she told me that I would need to get a police report concerning both the unauthorized charge and merchandise which I had never recieved and mail these police reports to customer service for fourther investigation into the matter.

Fingerhut continue to bill my account for the $140.00 drumset, and charge interest on the unpaid balance monthly until the balance is paid.

I paid all my payments to Fingerhut through my credit union (Debit) which were $42.00 dollars. Back in May of 2007 Fingerhut starting taking payments out of my account whenever they felt the need to, without my authorization.

I contacted them about this issue, and they said I would need to fax them my statements showing these transactions because their records do not show any such debits from my account. I had my credit union fax all papers over to them and I also sent them to the company. I never heard any thing back from them about this matter. They caused me to over draw on my account and also caused me to bounce 2 checks because they took the money that was budgeted for those checks. With the check fees, bounce fees and credit union fees it all came to $169.80, and I was unable to pay for the one check that bounced because of them. Now it is on my credit report. Now they are sending me bills stating that they are going to turn my account over to a collection agency if payment is not received. I had never been late on any payments to this company until they did this to me and will not take responsibilty for their mistake. I have tried to file with the Better B.B, but they said because it involves checks they cannot handle it. My credit union closed my checking account because of the over drafts Fingerhut caused me. They are ruining my credit and don't even care.

I recently ordered two counter stools from Fingerhut, and charged it to my account. When I found that one of the stools had a faulty part, making it impossible for me to complete assembly, I decided to return them both. I called to make make sure that I was following the correct returns procedure. I was told that if the goods were returned withing thirty days, I would be given a credit to my account.

I shipped the furniture back within the thirty days, but was still charged a higher payment on my account. Meaning my payment went from 19.99 to 28.99. Since my UPS tracking showed that the goods had been received on time, I mailed my regular payment of 19.99 out, since I didn't see why I should make a monthly payment that didn't reflect the credit that was due me. I began to receive up to four phone calls a day, hassling me about the balance of 9.00 dollars. And then they added on a late payment of 19.99.

When I called, the representative became increasingly rude, even though I was only seeking to understand why they expected me to make one monthly payment that was higher, when I had already returned the furniture in excellent condition and on time. They explained that it took up to three weeks to credit my account, and then he said that my payment is considered late, because I hadn't paid it in full. I replied that I have been a customer in good standing, and have always paid on time, and shouldn't be treated like this over one mistake. I asked to speak to his supervisor, who identified herself as Robin, and she said that if I paid the nine dollars, they would waive the late fee.

I paid it to avoid further hassle, but I don't understand why I paid a higher amount for one month when I hadn't even kept the goods for which I was being charged. It is not my fault if it takes them three weeks to credit my account.

As of this date they still haven't changed my address. By the time my family gets the mail to me in Los Angeles, the payment is late. It's been over 6 months since I put in the change. I was furious when the credit department called to tell me I was late. If I'm purposely late than they are doing job by calling me. I don't want my credit to be dinged because of their stupidity. I ordered a swimming pool, and didn't get the pool pictured in the catalog. The catalog described a 15ft pool, but, pictured an 18ft pool. When the pool arrived at my home, the accessories and especially the pump were inferior to what was pictured. I feel that fingerhut used misleading, if not false, and fraudulent advertising.

I contacted customer service and was told that they had sent a request to the manufacturer to send a replacement pump, the one pictured. But, it may take up to 5 weeks to receive the replacement from the manufacturer. It only took 10 days for the original order to arrive at my home. I am not satisfied.

I have an account with this company that I send a check for payment. I used to send it online but it was never processed by due date. I would get calls forever. I once called and yelled at the operator about didn't they check payment status, etc, she just told me I hadn't paid - when in fact the payment had been sent to be processed on time. The payment for this month was also sent to be processed on time (they have a date on the statement which to send payment) - this was done on time, again, this company has been contacting me morning, night and day! The calls come in on my cell phone and my home pone - I check my caller id. I just rec'd calls on today's date again! That shows the payment was not processed because it was sent way in advance of the due date. There has to be something I can do to get this company to change their unfair practices.

There is actually no economic damage (such as late fee); however, they are violating some law because they are harrassing people when the payment has been in their possession.
