When I tried to cancel my account tonight after 24 Years and 5 months, (yes, because I had no options in my rural area except satellite) with this company, I was grilled so harshly that after nearly 40 minutes of trying, with 3 different hard sell jerks, that I was in tears and was shaking so horribly that I had to take heart pills and anxiety pills just to complete the PROCESS as it was repeatedly called. No, it wasn't a process, it was pure torture to try to wear me down with “gifts”, free new equipment, and a monthly credit on my bill for the next year!
How do these people get away with treating customers so poorly? It was a pure nightmare to get disconnected after having spent over $40,000 dollars, on Auto Pay, with this company over 24 years and 5 months. Should anyone be forced to BEG to terminate their service with tears in their eyes and a heart attack looming? They’ll never get another dollar from me, and I’d bet against ever receiving a refund for the coming month that is already taken out of my checking account. GOOD RIDDANCE!

Dish service started in winter time. Ground was hard and couldn't sink a pole to mount satellite or bury the cable. After almost 2 years called to have the satellite that is sitting on the ground put on a pole. Due to the covid ** no techs were doing service calls. Saturday night 1/28/23 I fell over the satellite trying to get my dog before coyotes got her. Dish tells me they have to charge me to install it on a pole which they have already been paid to do. Have called about this before now and DISH never followed through. I am contemplating contacting a lawyer as my legs are pretty messed up from falling all over it. Glad I did not crush my dog while falling. I have been in GM customer service for many years and this is by far THE WORST service I have ever experienced in my lifetime. I highly recommend staying away from DISH NETWORK at all costs.

They lie to get you in with promises. Then when they don't deliver it's too late because they have you wrapped in a quest contract. And if you try to break said contract because they didn't give you what they promised then they will charge your credit card 450 dollars. They lose channels all the time. And won't offer their customers any kind of compensation for this. Their customer service is outsourced and most of the representatives barely speak English. Even though they have names like Jim and Kathy. Watch out for hoppers that haven't been cleared out. I ended up being charged for adult movies that I never rented. After being charged 3 month in a row for 3 adult movies I finally was able to prove I was out of town at a funeral when some of these moves were ordered. It turned out my hopper was still set from the perverse customer. I wasn't renting or recording any of these movies I was getting.
Finally after three months of being worried someone had access to my place and my account. Dish replaced my hopper with a new one. I never got a sorry or offer to credit me for being charged for those movies. When they replaced my hopper the technician had me sign his tablet. I asked him why I need to sign my name. And he said my signature just lets Dish Network know I exchanged one hopper for another. That way dish Network wouldn't accidentally charge me for two hoppers. The technician said that they wouldn't be making me sign another 2 year contract since I just signed one . But guess what? They lied. So now I'm in another contract before the first contract is even over. This company will double charge you. They will shut you off for no reason. And they don't care if you are sick, dying or have no money. You mean nothing to them. They will tell you anything and lie to you to get you in a contract then they won't let you go.

DISH network's customer support is just a tactic to sell you upgraded services for a temporary, usually 30 day, discount. Then, the increases start coming at increasing frequency and amount. Too expensive for poor channel choices!! To get sports or "premium programming" is way too costly. I am "cord" cutting!

Do not do business with this dishonest company. They will trick you into paying for contracts you never agreed to. I contracted with DISH network for satellite service. Part of the agreement was that I was hooked for two years. I even added a service arrangement with them that stipulated I would not be charged their ultra high service fee if they had to send a technician to repair their defective product when it broke. When I experienced an interruption in service that could not be solved working with one of their phone operators they sent a technician to my house. The technician was very pleasant and discovered that the DISH receiver was not functioning properly and was in fact outdated and he replaced it. By doing that DISH extended my contract for another two years. Their excuse was that when I agreed to have the non functioning receiver replaced I was automatically agreeing to the extension of my contract.
The alternative was to continue to pay for a service I was no longer receiving. Use HULU or NETFLIX, or any service that is internet based instead. No hidden equipment rental fees or fake extension of any contract. DISH is simply fundamentally dishonest. They will steal your money and they have interruptions in service very frequently. They offer minimal assistance when this happens.

The salesperson promised a Hopper3, voice remote, and that it would accommodate the 4 TVs that are in my home. The installer informed me that the Hopper3 isn’t operable and that it may never be. He installed a Hopper2 which will only accommodate 3 TVs. The system that was installed doesn’t offer voice remote. One of the TVs goes into sleep mode regularly while I am watching it and the technician who came out to bury the cable in my yard said I would have to live with it since that is common with the system they installed. I gave a poor review to DISH in response to their request for a review and have not received a response. I would recommend people to avoid DISH Network. This is one of the worst decisions I have ever made.

I signed up with DISH in May of 2021. I got their basic equipment, which seemed to be very buggy. But I figured it was just the nature of the beast. After a few weeks of pixelization, and interruptions in DVR programs I called DISH. They sent out a the same technician who installed it originally, and he quickly came to the conclusion that leaves on a tree were causing the problem. Hmmmm....I thought there were leaves on the tree when he installed the dish. But I accepted his foolishness and cut down offending limbs about two weeks later. No leaves....same problems. But as it was summer, and I spend little time watching tv in the summer I was recording quite a bit on the DVR though.
After about three months the satellite box was barely able to provide an hour of programming without audio and video cutouts. I called DISH again....and they sent the same imbecile out again. He said he could swap the box out, but that I would lose all of the premium programming I had recorded (3 months free pay channels). So I kept the box in order to keep the programming I had recorded.
After about a year the box had become so unstable that pixelization and audio/video cutouts were like part of every tv show. I had enough. I called DISH and demanded a new box. I asked them if they were able to transfer programs saved on DVR and they said they now could. Great!! The same knuckle dragging technician showed up with a new box, connected it to my old box, and quickly deleted every single recording. Ooooops. And to add insult to injury the box that they replaced the old box with was nearly as bad as the original. Now that box has failed completely (with a full DVR), and with 4 months left on the contract. They are sending out a new box (and TRIED to charge me to replace their defective equipment), but I know again everything on the DVR will be lost again.
There's a few things people should know about DISH. They do not honor the promotions offered when you sign up. I signed up for the 55+ plan, which offered a free movie every month. They have refused to honor that. They provide substandard equipment. The boxes I have received have great difficulty streaming, are not capable of recording one show and watching another, have a nasty habit of shutting down and rebooting while I am watching television, and lack the basic tool of a screensaver to prevent burn in on flat screen tv's when programming is paused.
If you call their "customer service" you will spend hours on hold and usually be connected to the Third World. Once reaching someone they will blame everything but their own equipment for problems. It's the weather (cloudy)....your internet isn't working (it's working fine)....the box needs to be reset(I've done that while suffering through waiting for a customer service non professional), etc, etc.
Once the problem isn't resolved you will be transferred to a different customer service non professional and the process repeats itself. And expect calls to be frequently disconnected, allowing you the pleasure of wading through their hellish automated answering system. Expect to listen to a noxious diatribe of DISH propaganda while waiting for an indifferent customer service non professional, most of that propaganda centered around how to pay your bill and how to buy additional services (even though they aren't providing the ones you've paid for).
Unless you rent their more expensive box many of the services they claim to provide don't work. You cannot remotely access programming on your DVR, the DISH anywhere app is limited to a small amount of programming, and Android devices cannot be used as a remote. That last thing is a real problem, because if your remote doesn't work the entire system is essentially useless. That happened once with me. My response was to get a new remote and then claim it doesn't work, prompting them to send you another. They will try and charge you for this, but if you refuse to pay they'll send it anyway.
Having DISH has been the most unpleasant video provider i have ever had. They are a dishonest business that tries to bleed the customer for every dollar possible once you are locked into a contract with them. I will be done with these dregs this May, and I am already sharpening up my streaming skills. Streaming does have a few disadvantages to satellite to be sure, but at a little over half the cost, no garbage equipment to fail (a backup FireStick is cheap) and far less time spent on the phone with the Third World. I'm sure those disadvantages will be more than outweighed by the wonderful feeling of being liberated from DISH network.
Oh, and one more thing. I haven't had my local Fox affiliate for months. When asked about this DISH tells me the only option is to get a streaming service or a roof antenna. I'm too far away for a roof antenna, but the streaming suggestion was very helpful. DISH pointed the way to their own replacement. DISH has been an excursion in hell for this customer.

We've had Dish service for close to 3-yrs now, approximately 3-4 months ago our bill increased by $70-$80 a month so we started looking for a cheaper service. We located an alternate service that was significantly cheaper than Dish. I contacted Dish on 01/13 to cancel service and was told it would cost $220 due to an early termination fee. I questioned the early cancellation fee since we've had Dish for close to 3-years, we only signed a 24-month contract? The Senior Resolution Rep (Maria) stated that when we moved to North Carolina from Florida in November '21 that I requested an extra Joey Box for our Den, the other Dish equipment was brought with us from Florida.
I did request an additional Joey box for the Den and Maria stated when doing so it automatically renewed our 24-month contract. I never agreed to a 24-month contract extension, I was never informed of an extension and would have NEVER agreed to an extension for just adding another receiver? Contract extensions generally occur when the customer is getting a special rate or something similar and NOT because the customer is paying more a month for an extra receiver.
I found it EXTREMELY suspicious that on (2) occasions Maria stated the reason our monthly bill went up was because our contract ended cancelling our "special rate." I stopped Maria twice and questioned why the cancellation fee if our contracted ended as she mentioned TWICE. Maria quickly corrected herself and said the contract was renewed when we requested an extra box, if we use the renewed scenario, we should still be receiving our special contract rate, correct?? I got no response...
We NEVER agreed to a contract extension and Maria stated TWICE our monthly bill went up because our contract ended? There are WAY too many customer complaints on BBB that revolve around a shady business practice severely lacking in ANY sort of transparency! There are too many alternatives to be treating customers in this manner. Based on other reviews from this site and many other sites, Dish has a reputation for being dishonest with their customers, this isn't just a one-off from a lone disgruntled customer...

If you are considering Dish's product. Please be aware of the automatic two-year term of the contract. Once you sign up, you must pay for it for two years, even if you dislike the service or pay a $500 fee. This term is set automatically upon signing up. We bought their product, disliked the quality and quantity of the available content and wished to cancel. The first time we called, they recommended that we put the service on hold for six months as we were "too new to cancel." Being on hold requires a monthly fee of approximately $18.
When we called back several months later to say we were not interested in the service and wanted to cancel, they told us that the two-year term would start when we started paying for the service again (e.g., two more years) or we could pay a $500 termination fee. Nobody mentioned this in any of our other calls. Tricking customers into delaying their ability to exit and announcing fees when they actually want to cancel is a very poor customer experience. We recommend that you select another cable or satellite service that is more forthright in its dealings with customers and provides a higher-quality product.

If you are an automatically paying account and don't realize it, they will take advantage and add it. They give you a free trial, but don't tell you. You may not catch it for months. Sad! And then the team resolution team member was rude, mean, and condescending. They have no integrity. They would not even talk like he understood how I missed it, when my bill was paid automatically. I am very upset. This last year has been so very difficult financially so have been putting my account on pause. I have been very ill with covid and rsv. I called in November to see what I could work out. The agent said he could put me back on pause. I haven't used my service for a very long time due to financial hardship as a single income with many challenges. When I called in the agent advised me he could pause another 9 months and I paid the amount he told me. I said, "So we are ok?" He told me I was OK.
I did not realize there was a balance still owed. Tried to work something out. They can't do anything. In addition my furnace went out. I had to have heat in winter. My point is I may have missed this but their agent did as well. Sometimes we have no control over what happens in life. The agents I spoke with today would not work something out so unless I can come uo with $$$ I just will have to let them do what they have to. Heat and food is a tad more we important than tv. I know they've heard sob stories before. I can back mine up.

I just finished a half hour marathon with three different reps trying to figure out why I was being charged for service through 1/14/23 when I am scheduled to be disconnected on 1/5/23. I decided to cancel service at the beginning of December because 1) no access to the local ABC network even though they advertise that they provide this and I have had to listen to them whine about their contract with Cox five times now, 2) the satellite goes out every time it rains and 3) I get static in my pictures all the time.
When I scheduled the disconnect for 1/5 they didn't tell me that there was an $80 charge for stopping service before my 2-year contract was up. I asked what they were doing to reimburse me for my lack of service and got no answer except that another recitation of their sales hype about negotiating for ABC. Then they tell me that it will cost me $20 to ship their equipment back to them. I was so furious at learning now about the extra $100 I will have to pay that I told them to stop service immediately.
When I first had Dish installed, they broke my attic ladder and it took me a month to get anyone to do something about it. Now they aren't providing the service they said they would and are still going to charge me to stop service. I wouldn't recommend Dish to anyone ever. I disconnected our Dish Network service secondary to its expensive monthly charge. I bundled our cable TV service with my internet service with another provider which led to a savings of $85. When I disconnected the service, I was told that my account would be charged $60 for early termination. I asked if I needed to return the equipment and he initially said yes, and then I told him that I was not at the location where the equipment was, and he checked something in his computer and then he said that I did not have to return any of the equipment or Dish Network boxes.
The Dish Network rep told me that I could take the three satellite boxes for recycling at any nearby Best Buy, which our caretaker did, and now Dish Network is charging me $349 for unreturned equipment. Dish Network should always be upfront and honest with their customers even though they are disconnecting service and not be deceitful like this. If I were told that I needed to return the equipment or I would be charged $349, I would have made arrangements for it to be done. This is so disappointing and appalling. When I called to disconnect the loyalty team said they would take of twenty dollars a month for a year, but then I would be locked into another 24-month contract. What a racket. I cancelled my service and had to call twice to get the boxes to send back the equipment. Then they expected me to climb up on the roof to take the receiver off. I'm 66 years old and I'm not climbing on the roof. I called and asked when the technician would be out to retrieve their equipment and I was told that it was my responsibility. We lost ESPN/Disney a few weeks ago, lost NBC last year, and currently have lost ABC (still without). I received a 40% billing increase after losing ABC this month....That's what I wanted to discuss but cannot get anyone to speak with after over 10 attempts this week and hours of holding and getting calls disconnected. One of our receivers in the bedroom never connected and I called customer service about 5 time and not one person seemed to know how to help, saying it is my wires in the RV. Every time we have a problem and call customer service they don’t seem knowledgeable and sometimes that contradict each other and more times than not we hand up with no resolve. DISH Network fraudulently copied signatures electronically captured from the documents accepting the equipment INTO A CONTRACT. We proved it because there was a mistake in the signature. That mistake was copied multiple times into the "Contract". Every signature in the contract had the same mistake in it. After several weeks of not having service and DISH not fixing the problem, we cancelled the service and they fraudulently deducted the funds out of my 95 year old mother's account. We disputed the payment, so DISH sent the bank a copy of the contract.
The bank agreed with us that the signature was exactly the same throughout the entire contract. So the bank reversed the charges. Each time we show proof to the collection agency, DISH sends the billing to a different collection agency. WARNING: only sign a hard paper copy of any documents. DISH has their installation technician have you sign on a Tablet and uses that electronic signature wherever they want in a contract that was never signed.

Do not work here or purchase their services. I worked at the Duquesne, PA location in 2022 for around 7 months. My time here was cut short due to incompetent operational managers lying to human resources about my work related injury. This company flat out sucks. You work long hours in which you have no say over, you work 365 days of the year meaning you work each and every holiday and the managers just don't care about you. It's all about how many work orders you can knock out to make them look better.
Every customer I came across hated the service because every time a thunderstorm came around, the service would go out or even as much as a cloudy day would come about, still no service. Truly a dumpster fire for a company, especially in Pittsburgh. Do not let 18.00 per hour catch your eye. There are plenty of better jobs that offer that exact hourly wage throughout the city. We were loyal Dish Network customers for many years, but we noticed that new customers were getting better more advanced equipment with lower rates. We spoke with their retention department and that if we wanted the most up to date equipment that we would be paying twice what we were paying at the time. So we elected to cancel our service. We asked them where we could drop off their equipment and they said since our equipment was so old that they did not want it returned to them, but we could take it to Best Buy and they would recycle the items. We did just that.
Now fast forward to today. We called to re-establish service with them to take advantage of their special offers, plus, we were unhappy with our current provider. The Dish Network representative checked our old account and history and said we would not be considered for a returning customer since we never returned our equipment to them 2 years ago! WOW! To begin... My fiance had become frustrated with AT&T/DirecTV and I suggested Dish (since we live in the boonies, in my father's childhood home/rural Minnesota). When we reached out, the sales department gave us the 'full court press', so to speak; we were TOLD we wouldn't lose any channels, all would be the same, we would receive a $200 gift card, free install for two years, yada yada yada... Not a single thing proved true...
We were placed on a 'prepaid account' (admittedly our credit was limited, we paid cash for 90% of our purchases, no loans, no credit cards, etc, inherited our house, soooo... Understandable) -- but we were told that after 2 years of on time payments it would AUTOMATICALLY TRANSITION to a traditional postpaid account (but we could not make payment arrangements, the day the bill was due, we would get a 48-hour window [in actuality it's roughly 36-hours] before the service is shut off, with a LARGE reconnect fee would be added)... ***And were told that we would be notified before each price hike by 30-days.***
We did so, to no avail... After enduring the 2 year gauntlet, nothing happened... Apart from a rate hike... The IMMEDIATE issue was the lack of HBO. We were PROMISED HBO/MAX and no changes to our service... Lies... They were "in litigation" with HBO over a rate hike that lasted the length of our contract... But we were 'locked in", so we zipped our lip and endured... Then, after waiting around 6 months, I reached out regarding the $200 gift card that didn't arrive (which would have been WELCOME because in that window 3 of my vertebrae exploded... I underwent emergency surgery and when I awoke, I was wholly unable to bear weight from the waist down and became trapped on my side in a hospital bed in my living room, awaiting further surgical interventions, to present)...
We were given a handful of PPV vouchers in exchange... I informed the person on the phone that internet service ends 2 miles away from our home, so if PPV is contingent upon internet/WiFi, they would be useless, he claimed that internet service was unnecessary... So we accepted the vouchers. We attempted to use one a few months later, to no avail... Internet service was INDEED required to utilize the vouchers, so there they sat, useless and unused for the duration... We held our breath for the two years, waiting out the final promise from the company, which [surprise, surprise] was NOT honoured...
Recently, we discovered our bill jumped from $165 to $212, which is a MASSIVE increase (with ZERO NOTICE) and were rudely informed that that was the price of service at the close of the 2 year contract. The account TYPE never "automatically" transitioned. We were informed that the ONLY way to do so was to cancel the service, wait anywhere from 30-days to a year (depending on who you speak to, the duration changes), and RE-ENROLL as a client (which is asinine). I was aghast... The KICKER is that I WORKED for Dish Network out of high school, out of the corporate offices; rising through the ranks in customer service and eventually becoming a team lead for Customer Service and Retention... And I would NEVER treat a customer/client the way we've been treated...
As I said to countless reps: Clearly, one hand does not know what the OTHER is doing (between Sales and Service)... This situation is SNAFU/FUBAR... And if I have to climb up the ladder, to corporate, in order to rectify the countless lies, inaccuracies, and missteps, I most certainly WILL. I may be disabled... Crippled... But I have a mind like a steel-trap... They will NOT be getting over on me ... One way or another, we will hold them to account...

The local telephone company is getting rid of their current TV provider. They are replacing it with DirecTV, thus we were looking at the Dish Network. We had also received an offer in the mail to obtain a $500 prepaid Mastercard if we signed up for Dish Network programming. Firstly, there is some confusion as to what equipment would be needed for a home with 3 TVs with DVR service. Their online tool only allows you to add the Hopper 2 with 3 TVs or less. The Hopper 2 only has 3 tuners and would not let you record and watch enough channels at once across 3 TVs. A Hopper 3 is needed as it has 16 tuners, allowing for more channels to be recorded and watched at the same time across three TVs. In order to add the Hopper 3, you need to say you have 4 to 6 TVs. If you say you have 4 TVs to add the Hopper a additional Joey unit for a TV you don't actually have is added to the tool, thus increasing the monthly bill.
I called them and they would be able to add the Hopper 3 at no extra cost per month, but that was true as I had used their tool add a Hopper 2 and price they were quoting me over the phone was $10.00 more a month. To make the sale over the phone they told me about a sports package that would be added if I ordered now. Checking the small print on their site this sports package of 16 channels would only be added until the beginning of 2023 and then dropped. Losing these channels was not a problem as I don't watch sports; however, lying by omission is a problem.
They also bragged about the large number channels in the "America's Top 200" which is shown having 240+ channels on their package flyers. The rep said that the package actually has over 300 channels and they are adding more every day. That is true, but after printing off a list of channels to examine that claim is rather meaningless. I don't have any use for the 103 music audio channels; 32 Spanish language channels; 18 shopping channels; 21 sports channels and a host of other channels. Some 236 channels are of no use at all.
Of the remaining channels some 46 are ones that would rarely be used - they might get watched for a moment if you were casually flipping through the channels. Fifteen more channels would get light use; 4 with medium use and 16 with heavy use. So I paying them $123 a month for 35 channels. They also claim to offer local channels, but that is not true. Each of the local network affiliates operates multiple digital subchannels. Dish Network only carries 9 of the 21 local stations.

They still have not resolved it. Another issue is you set times to all new programs many times it does not. Like This Old House and Ask This Old House. I have to add them manually because when you look at them they say the first time airing was like two days before but yet it was never on that day.
Today I had it set to record two episodes of Emergency. According to to the recorded program list neither recorded. But one did record but it was labeled Little House on the Prairie. Another program is on HGTV called Renovation Island it all over it says new episodes airing yet DISH says they first aired in April so I have to manually enter them. I could set the time to record all new and old but I don't want to watch episodes I have all ready seen. Another one is Mecum Auctions oh the Motor Trend channel. I have it set to record all new episodes but it will not. For each auction you have to set that one to record. They have about 10 auctions a year and if you don't keep track you will miss them. About 1 1/2 years ago my Reciever DVR started acting up real bad, I called Dish Network and they had a repairman come and he replaced my broken equipment with the Hopper and Joey, little did I know that they were locking me into a 2-year contract for the new equipment. "NEVER EXPLAINED TO ME" so roll forward to a couple months ago I was able to upgrade my internet from 3mb to 100mb making streaming a real option. So I decided to call and Terminate my Services because I liked the streaming service better.
Well, the Agent "never told me that I was under contract" talked me into putting my account on standby just in case I didn't like the streaming services. Fair enough, I waited a few months and decided to call back and Terminate my Services only to find out that I am under contract. The Agent tried to tell me that I would have to wait 8 months before I could cancel. She offered to lower my bill from the $120+ I was paying a month to $59 and so much but, but, but from them. Finally, I was told after asking that I could buy out the remainder of my Contract for $20 for each month remaining for a total of $160 I took this option. The 1st tech took 3 hours to setup my box and said my connection was extremely slow. He tried my master bedroom also. I told him my street has patches of one bar reception/signal. He had to reset my Dish unit. He said I could call and cancel my service if I don't like it. After he left, I had to reset my Dish unit multiple times. When I turn on my TV, I get my TV logo and then a black screen. Nothing works. Then after 1-3 minutes the TV turns on because it took that long to get the Android box running. The technician told me when he was installing that it still had a lot of glitches and I can cancel the service if I like over the phone.
I then called Comcast xfinity to start service with them. After it worked, I called on the 4th day of service to disconnect Dish. I thought Dish had a 30 day cancellation policy like Comcast. Instead, Dish said I would need to pay $20 per month for 24 months equating to $480 for my 2 day of service. I called and spoke to the rep then to the supervisor and spent another 15 minutes explaining the situation. They said they would need to send a 2nd tech out.
The 2nd tech came out and confirmed my Dish box was extremely slow and had 4.5 MBPS download and 1.2 upload speed, EVEN though my internet connection was 300 MBPS. I once again said that my home has patches of terrible to no service. I asked again to terminate my contract without the $480 penalty. The technician encouraged me call again.
I called 5x and spoke to 5 Dish reps. I found out even the supervisor can't help me and that I have to go to 3rd level to the resolution team. They again declined my request for waiving the $480 penalty and said they will need to send out a 3rd tech. They did not give me a refund. I will never recommend DISH again! Lina ** Sacramento, CA.

I haven't watched more than 2 hours on my Dish in the past couple of years. I called today to cancel. Suddenly they miraculously had cheaper packages. I had to say no to the customer service person so many times, that I lost my temper. She kept harassing me. It took me 35 minutes to cancel my account. They weren't even going to come and remove the Dish from my roof. She told me that that would be a $50 charge. I was placed on hold multiple times.
After one time, when she was supposed to be finding out if I would get a credit, she came back to tell me that it would be an additional $95 for the technician to get the Dish removed. After another hold, I was informed that only the Dish would be removed and that the pole and all of the cords would remain there (for $145 mind you). Then she told me that the Technician wouldn't be able to take my hopper, etc... back with him. He couldn't be held responsible, even though technicians install and bring the equipment to set up an account. So, in addition, I have to pay $15 for a kit to mail it back. She made me repeat my address (that hasn't changed in the 15 years plus that I have had Dish) 4 times just to be difficult. Dish and cable are antiquated ways to watch television anyway. After more than 15 years with DISH Network and no contract, in this day and age wanting to cancel my account. After, several times of calling and trying to cancel being kept on the line for 45 mins or more each time my husband had to step in. We just wanted to cancel our account that we didn't need anymore. With all the apps and every tv coming as a smart tv we finally decided to upgrade. I had been begging my husband for the last several years to finally make the jump. We already pay for several other streaming services and barely used the dish. Not only did our monthly amount skyrocket over the years for channels we never used. The only way we could get the few channels we used we had to purchase their package with the most channels. Then to be able to allow our children to watch on different tv's in the house we had to add joeys. Eventually, we didn't bother to ask for a lower price as that would stick us into a 2 year agreement.
At this point we became prisoners of the system. I had had enough and with the inflation going out of control we need to rethink our choices monthly. Finally the day came and my husband agreed to go with another provider for our home entertainment needs in this century and we went completely streaming. So again we tried cancelling our dish account. Over and over again we would ask to just cancel and 45mins later still going back and forth we now had to be transferred to a manager. While on with the manager went round and round again. My husband is now heated and demanded to just cancel.
We have had our equipment for well over 5 years and have never been asked for there equipment back. No agreement just month to month and now we are being charged $15 each box to return their equipment. Yet they won't come and get their really old sat dish on my house. In times when everything is going digital and streaming you would think they would be more considerate and helpful. Losing customers at crazy rates will run them out of business. They offered a flex program after asking me what channels I watch. The customer service rep advised me to sign up to it. A few days post signing the contract one channel was removed. When I called back they said this news channel was not included and I had to pay $10 more for it...and I said ok...Now another channel after 2 weeks was removed. I called again 3rd time and after 30 min was told that this channel also not included. Also told if I wanted this channel I needed to pay $6 a month until they reviewed the phone call I had originally. Gonna let the 2 weeks I still paid for and sign up with another cable provider. We have been DISH users for nearly 10 years only because they are the only provider in our area. Not once during that time has the customer been first. They do not monitor the age of equipment and/or offer to replace before it dies. Our most current issue: primary box had fatal error meaning we can not record, pause, go back, go forward, can only watch prime time recordings from primary box, will have to re-enter all of our favorite recordings set up, and DISH will not expedite delivery of new box or provide a delivery date. The only positive I have to say about DISH is they have live chat so it is not necessary to speak to live person and listen to them read canned responses.
Our bill continues to climb - is nearly $200/month with NO premium channels. They have never allowed a credit no matter how long ALL paid for services are not available. Our bill is set up for auto pay so they get their money on time no matter how poor the service is. My next correspondence is to the FCC and both my state and federal representatives.

However, it turns out that Dish doesn’t even offer regional sports at all. This is clearly a breach of contract. When I called to get the services canceled, I was told that I would have to pay $480 cancellation fee. I tried to explain to Josh that I thought that it was unfair that I pay that amount since their services was misrepresented to me. To prove it, Dish advises that they record every call when customers order their services. I asked Jordan at ** to review the recording, and he stated that they do not do that! What’s the purpose of the recording then? I would like Dish to reconsider charging me the $480 as they misrepresented their services that caused me to go with them in the first place.

We changed to Dish after being with DIRECTV for 20 + years because AT&T destroyed their excellence in customer service. We hoped DISH would fulfill our expectations and maybe exceed them. Here are our 3 "W", We Were Wrong!!! We went all in with Dish, we got their top of the line box, and even purchased a sound bar for $200.00 on the day of installation, not knowing that the installation was NOT being done by a DISH technician. The subcontractor was very nice, but when he came in to install the box, it was not the top of the line we were told we would get. I had to tell him that either I get what I was told I would get, or else. He came back with a Hoper3 box that at the time, I did not know it was a used/refurbished box. After 10 months of glitches, weird happenings while watching regular and recorded programs, and the 3 to 4 times a day the interruptions of programming by DISH receiver resets, we called their technician.
Evan came and replaced their damaged box, and explain to us that we got a subcontractor not a DISH employee, consequently we got a used/refurbished box. Two months with the new box and we can't wait until we go back to DIRECTV!!! The glitches still around, the only thing Evan was able to fix was the the resetting of their receiver that was happening 3 to 4 times a day, now happens maybe once a day, everything else SUCKS big time. The links DISH website offers to either chat or feedback, neither one works, to use DISH free movie certificates I have to do it online at my computer, go to the TV room and hope that it works when I open the movie I chosen. The last certificate did not work, they charged me for the movie ($3.99 no big deal there).
I called and talked to Walter who transferred me to "unresolved account issue" (whatever that means), and Amanda was good enough to tell me the system was down and she could not help, that I should call back. I did not call back but I was able to chat (the link was working), and I was told I would get a credit of $3.99, which we did on our March bill. I also brought up the fact that the "feedback" link did not work, she said she would make sure it would be working next time I log in. Today, 4-19-22, I logged in, checked my April bill, the $3.99 was charged again, (do DISH really need my money so bad that they lie about giving a credit and hope that you don't notice their LIE on the next bill?), and neither the "chat" or "feedback" links worked. That night when my roommate got home and tried to use the Dish Network he was getting a message that was already in use. Came to find that we could not both use the Dish Network from two different TVs at the same time.
Next morning I called the provider and informed them of the problem not being able to use the network on both TVs at the same time. The service rep told me very clearly that service only is allowed for one TV to be used at a time. I again informed her that I had requested service for 2 TVs in different rooms and expect to be able to use them both. Her response and I'm quoting her "did you ask if you could use them both at the same time?" After several rounds of discussing this with the service rep it was very clear I was not getting anywhere. All their equipment was packed up and returned to them the next day and told them to cancel the service which is only the second day after I ordered it. They have now turned the $574 bill for the two-year service contract over to collection company and is affecting my credit score. Needless to say I would not ever consider using this company again. In my opinion Dish Network has the worst customer service and most uncaring people working for it. Please whatever you do, DO NOT sign up for Dish Network services. I has been a loyal customer for over fifteen years. I didn’t raise a fuss when channels weren’t available (which was often) because of disputes from the channels' owners wanting more money. Why, because Dish Network was fighting for us the customers so we didn’t get higher costs for our service. Yet my service would go up each year, maybe not a lot but it did and I didn’t argue.
One month prior to writing this I saw my bill went up again, so I called. I spoke with a Customer Service Representative and asked if there was anything that could be done to lower my bill? She saw that I had been a customer for fifteen plus years and that because of that she could help and my bill would be lowered. It wasn’t much but I was fine with that because I liked the service. She informed me that doing this would enter me into a new two year contact. I did agree as again I had been a loyal customer for so long and hadn’t planned on going anywhere.
A few weeks after that I found out I will be losing my job. So today I called and said I would need to cancel my service and wanted to know how to return the equipment. I was immediately told, “I’m sorry to hear that and we can do that but you just did enter into a new agreement and there will be a $230.00 cancelation fee”! I asked if there was any way to waive this since I will be out of a job and the fact that I have been with Dish for so long. The CS Rep said “NO” we can’t do that. Not, “We won’t, but can’t”. That is a lie I found out later, they can but won’t.
I was offered a way of “Pausing” my subscription but paying $5.00 a month plus taxes for up to nine months, but at this point I wanted nothing to do with Dish any longer. Maybe if I was greeted with some form of caring for my situation at the beginning of the call and was told “Yes” we can cancel your subscription and waive the termination fee for being a long term loyal customer but then also offered the pausing deal I may have taken it.
When I asked to speak to a Supervisor, the reply was of course but they won’t be able to help you. She was correct, I spoke to two so called “Resolution Specialist” who informed me that the only conditions to waive the termination fee were being permanently institutionalized or DEATH. So I can be unemployed and possible homeless and still have to pay their BLOOD MONEY! I have been in Customer Service my entire life, and rarely have I come across multiple people working for the same company with such uncaring and complete disgust for their customers. SO PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY BEFORE EVER THINKING OF BECOMING A DISH NETWORK CUSTOMER.

We got our latest Comcast bill and decided it's time to try something different because Comcast pricing was getting ridiculous. Dish advertisements for 80,000 on demand movies and TV shows seemed great, plus it was a lot cheaper. Cursory reviews seemed adequate. This review is for people who are thinking of switching from Comcast. Here's what they're not telling you.
The vast majority of the Dish On Demand features are pay features. On Comcast we could literally scroll endlessly through free movie and TV offerings on demand. If you are lead to believe that Dish is like this, except better, you are going to be sorely disappointed. We counted 74 free titles by pushing the On Demand button. There is an awkward, non-intuitive way to bring up more by selecting certain categories but the bottom line is the selection of free movies is abysmal. After calling we were told that we could get more on demand features by looking within the channels themselves and I asked how user friendly is that? Instead of having a collection all in one place we have to land on and search each and every individual channel? And wouldn't you know the gentleman at Dish had to agree.
Do you like your "Mark Watched" feature? It's very helpful when watching a TV series on demand. Kiss that goodbye. If you do want to look through your 74 free movies it doesn't load completely all of the time so you cannot see a picture of the cover, just text of a movie title which makes assessing the movie more difficult. It's about three steps to delete a recording once you finally figure that out. It often gets hung up "buffering" (even for recordings for some strange reason) and sometimes it will just hang up altogether. Navigation is clunky. And we have lost all of our recordings from Comcast.
We called Dish wanting to cancel on the grounds that it was misleading to advertise 80,000 on demand shows and movies when in fact you must pay more for the majority of those. Cancelling is no problem, all we had to do is pony up nearly half a grand and we could go back to normal. $20 per month for 24 months penalty. Would could have cancelled for free within the first 24 hours but 24 hours is not nearly enough time to figure out just how bad they suck. Ultimately they told us we were stuck with them and they would not release us. If I remember right I had to wait for Monday-Friday during business hours just to complain. Comcast I can call 24/7.
Also, if you are thinking of cutting the cord and going all out for internet don't. The fiasco with CenturyLink is a whole other bad review. Luckily we has enough sense to keep our existing internet. Listen, there is a reason they only give you 24 hours to cancel. And there is a reason they don't offer a 30 day trial. Comcast may be more expensive but it's a much better product if you have access to it. If we could do it over, we would just renegotiate our Comcast package for 12 months. I hope this review saves someone the same experience.

We had DISH Network for 2 years and were paying $89.00 a month, when suddenly at the end of our 2 year commitment they raised our rate to $160.00 a month. Needless to say we dumped them and started looking for something else, as $160.00 a month for their worthless channels, which did not include a local channel at times like when all of the football playoff games were being shown since they always seemed to be in disputes with the local channels, was outrageous. And what we found was something much, much better, as we were able to get everything that we needed with Frontier Internet, which costs us only 79.00 a month for 1 gig of high speed internet that included phone service, and which amount of high speed internet was enough to stream Roku with on all of our TVs so as to not even need a satellite or cable provider, as Roku has hundreds of channels.
So instead of paying 89.00 a month to our former cable company for only 200,000 bytes of high speed internet and phone service, and another $89,00 a month to dish network for their worthless network, that goes out every time it starts raining hard, we are now getting everything we need for only 79.00 a month. The reps are not there to take the brunt of the companies shortfalls, inefficient service, and zero leadership that is not willing to fix and resolve things that matter to paying customers! When transferred to supervisor I was hung up on again. I will be looking for other options! Losing local channels and still paying full cost is robbery. I hope that you find a way to get your company back on track or you don't deserve customers. I will be doing my part to let everyone know this company is horrible!

I bought a Dish RV satellite for my RV, do not know if home service is different from RV. Has spent hours on the phone with tech support and still not working. Every tech tells you something different. Tried asking for a supervisor and was just sent to another tech that had no clue. I am now stuck with a worthless piece of junk. If you only want to watch one TV it works, but regardless of their sales pitch it is a complete lie they tell about the dual system even if you have both receivers tuned to the same satellite. Emails sent to them go unanswered. I bought what they recommended, now saying should have bought two complete different satellite dishes.

We've been customers of Dish Network for 10 plus years. November of 2021 our box stopped working. We had contacted dish and they told us they could not replace our old box that we would have to switch to the hopper and if we switch to the hopper it would be $10 cheaper. We would pay $89 instead of $99 a month and we would also receive a $40 credit due to being without the TV for 2 weeks. We did receive the $40 credit on our first bill. As we received our February bill we are still paying $99 a month for our cable along with a two-year contract. Again this was absolutely a bait and switch situation. Along with the bait and switch we had to deal with the technician that was in our house setting up the hopper for 6 hours. This is the worst experience we've had with dish Network.

My mother, being 89 years old, asked if she could change satellite providers due to the rising cost with the one she had. The neighbors had DISH satellite, so she chose them too. Because of my mother’s age I take care of everything when she requires to have a serviceman come to her home. When she ordered DISH, she used my phone number to schedule people into her home - so I can be there to explain any issues that come up; I live next door.
The installation went well, and, as the installer was leaving, he asked if I needed security cameras - he could make a great deal on them because DISH had a special going on them. I asked many questions about the cameras, because I needed so many of them. The most important was - do we need to hard-wire in each camera, for communication, and for powering them up? He stated the cameras were wireless and that they had batteries that would last a very long time. Of course, I asked how long the batteries would last – he said 3 months with normal use. I was impressed, I asked for paperwork to prove this, but that never came.
I couldn’t find any reviews to see how the DISH camera was rated - JD powers said excellent, boy that was wrong! - I wonder what they have to get paid to print that? My first mistake was that I looked for this site to give a real review, but didn’t find it for several months later. So, in haste I ordered 54 cameras to do 2 homes and 2 out-buildings. MISTAKE #2 - Look harder for truthful reviews. I should have tried 1 or 2 cameras at first to see how the cameras perform. The batteries on the cameras don’t last 2 weeks much less 3 months.
The installer stated this project would be complete in 5 days or 7 days at most. I’m a contractor and I even asked that question 2 times regarding the completion date; the installer said he would work on Saturdays and Sundays if that was OK with me. The installer stated he would bring in more people to keep the completion date good. Half the material was delivered that day. However, all the material wasn’t on site for 6 weeks. The help came for 3 hours on the first day, and the same on the second day! Then, no one showed up for the next 5 days.
I then was very frustrated and called the complaint line 3 or 4 times. After many calls to the complaint line, I found a phone # to a company called High Power - they are the installers for DISH (DISH does not self-perform any work themselves). After 6 days the installer called me apologizing for the lack of people to do the job - all he said was the rep for installers in Kentucky would not get the manpower to my job to keep it moving along. That was the last time the installer called me. He said he was going to quit High Power because of the rep in Kentucky didn’t care about the customers.
These installers had no training how to properly install the cameras. The skill it takes to do this type of work neatly is not a part of High Power. I was embarrassed at what I found - drill holes made in in the trim and siding that were not used or even tried to be repaired; they just left the door bell cameras crooked. I had to furnish a boom lift for them to finish the job because they didn’t want to use a ladder.
In all there were 7 different people on my project - each and all complained about their wages, each one disliked the pay process to either to do the job, repair the cameras or just to show up, in that they didn’t get paid enough to fix or finish installing the cameras. I heard from every installer that they were the ones who deserved the bonus for this job, and that High Power doesn’t pay their people enough to keep the personnel engaged in the work. After calling the complaint line with DISH repeatedly and asking for the supervisor, I finally got a man named Hugo, who said there was no way to help me because if you don’t call in the first 30 days you are stuck with it, even after I stated they didn’t have the material or personnel to finish the project for more than 6 weeks.
All I can say “DON’T USE DISH OR HIGH POWER TO INSTALL SECURITY CAMERAS!!!” This is pitiful work, not up to any reasonable standard, and the installers are not skilled or trained enough. Learn from me and my mistakes - satellite DISH installers cannot do anything else but install satellite for TV’s. They don’t know the product they are trying to sell, and are very unhappy people - and Hugo is in the same category. At this date I am buying extra charging cords to install electric to every camera, including the doorbell cameras.
Sadly,Daniel

It is now 1/19/22 and the credit is still shown on my CLOSED Dish account! My final Windstream bill is due 1/21/22. The Windstream bill is only for Dish service.
Windstream says I owe them nothing, but I owe for Dish service that was bundled thru Windstream. Dish has drug their feet for for over 6 weeks since the original disconnect request date during the first week of December 2021. We've been with Dish Network on/off for over ten years. We mainly watch the local channels and a few of the cable news channels. Nothing premium. So our package has hundreds of channels for which we entered a contract. The problem is, and this has happened many times during our business relationship, Dish drops local channels quite often due to their negotiating disputes. They don't adjust your monthly rate, they just drop the channel and if you try to view the channel you get a message telling you as much with advice of how you can stream the channel with apps for additional fees paid directly to that network. This is criminal, right? Breach of contract, no? Like I said, this has happened many times and it's playoff season for the NFl and Dish dropped a local network within our contract that carries about 30% of the playoffs.

It is like clockwork but the current situation it has been OVER 3 months without ABC. My service started around 30 bucks a month and now is 114 for basic channels, NO premiums and the 1 dvr. When I asked about being compensated for not having a major network channel that I am PAYING for I was told I could only get a 1 time 5 buck credit.
My last straw was when I set a timer on my dvr for a show I had been waiting a year to see. It was there and then sometime later it just disappeared. I have had this issue in the past. Therefore when I went to watch the show it was gone with no on demand or any way to watch it. Then when I called to cancel I have had NOTHING but grief. They ask me why I am leaving and then don't want to hear my answer. To make matters worse they have NO way to drop off the receivers and are forcing me to take time out of my day to have it shipped and CHARGING me to do so. Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. I have been waiting a week for the boxes and I have now been on hold over 30 minutes and got caught off once already trying to see if there was anyway I could drop them somewhere. HORRIFIC. Well I am keeping people in mind before they order Dish Network. It sucks. This is the absolute worse TV source/company I have ever had. All day long it asks you if you are finished watching, well God forbid you did not see that 60 second message on the screen, so therefore your show that you were right in the middle of (watching or just listening to), shuts off. Remember it does this all day and all night long. It is very slow on everything you try and do such as go back to the channel you were watching (but is over now and you missed the best part).
At least once a day I have to reset it by unplugging the cute (stupid really) little Joey for 25 seconds and if that does not work (which it usually doesn't), you have to go back into your phone, look up Dishnetwork.com troubleshooting and reread how to fix a black screen (which works sometimes) and then if the troubleshooting does not work then you get to call customer service, wait on hold for however long it is that day and have a customer service person (who you usually can't understand) to walk you through it.
Well people not sure about you, I might not have much of a life but enough to where I don't feel like wasting my time on this ** constantly. So if you were thinking about ordering Dish Network, don't because you will be sorry. It is a freaking nightmare. Now I hate Suddenlink but I'd much rather use them again than put up with this crap any longer, at least their channels don't go out in the rain, that's a plus and if you live in Texas you know that it has been raining for basically 3 years straight. If you added the days and time up for how many days it has rained in Texas over the past 3 years you should have a lot of money that was spent on nothing literally.
Make your own decision but trust me on this one, if you order dish network you will be very very disappointed, pissed off and wasted a lot of your time. Oh and one more little thing to add to the list of terrible things about dish network, they took away channels because they were in a fight with other broadcasters about money, so my favorite channel CBS 11 is no longer available on dish network anymore but the bill certainly hasn't changed. They did not even tell anyone they were taking them off the air. I guess they figured since they are so intelligent like they claim to be all of the time and we are so stupid that we would not even notice. Hmmmm well how wrong they were. Thanks for listening.

When we finally got fed up with going to a sports bar on Sunday mornings to watch our favorite teams and just simply missing out during the week - we called to cancel.
Granted, she tried to offer a solution of coming out to install an antenna, Really! How about just providing the service. This has been a problem we’ve been dealing with for months. We would call and they would refer us to KFMB (just a side note: KFMB settled all their contracts with all other providers except Dish), why not offer the solution when we were reaching out, and then to throw salt in the wound a 300.00 cancellation fee. We’ve since signed up with Hulu, so not only are we saving 35.00/month which will make up the cancellation fee in 9 months, we are now provided with all the basic networks. I’m writing this review because as sports fans had we seen a review like this it would have saved us a lot of trouble and money.

I have been a Dish customer for more than 2 years. This September I wanted to be able to view shows from the DVR on my computer. I received an error stating my DVR hopper was out of date. I contacted support about getting a newer model. I wasn't made aware that requesting a newer model also meant locking in to another 2 year contract. I was told what the price would be and agreed. The next month the bill was going to be more than 20.00 more than they said it would be so I 'worked with them for an hour on the phone' and the price was changed. The monthly cost though was not changed (they never changed it) and I had to contact them again in October. They got it 'straightened' around and the bill was ok in October.
Now I receive notice of the bill this month (November) and it is scheduled to be 30.00 more than last month! My takeaway is: 1. know that any time you make a significant change to your account they may extend your contract x2 years. 2. Know that what they tell you on the phone may not be true. I had 3 different employees tell me one thing, but something else was the final result. Whether they lied or someone further up the 'food chain' changed it I don't know. So today I told them I wanted to cancel. The employee offered to give me a one time 25.00 credit... but what is the point when I can't trust what my bill is going to be next month? My suggestion would be to go with Sling or another service that does not lock you into a contract. Oh... if you cancel the contract early... it's 20.00 for every remaining month ($460.00 in my case since they had extended the contract). Buyer beware!

We are moving into a new home that does not currently have a satellite dish and we decided we did not want a satellite dish on the house and would try a streaming service instead.
When I told the representative we were going to cancel, he was very polite and as expected, tried to persuade me not to cancel. However, his persistent questions about my home’s internet speed and data usage finally became annoying. When he realized he was not going to change my mind, the tone of the call changed completely. We had just been billed $153. 10 for another month of service a few days before we decided to cancel. I asked if they would prorate this month’s charges, or should I wait until the end of the next billing cycle to cancel. I was assured that I would receive a prorated credit.
Then I was informed about the termination fees and excessive charges to return equipment! The representative claimed that we had subscribed to a new contract a year ago and that we had another year remaining in our contract commitment and therefore would be charged an additional $10 per month for the remainder of the contract. Neither my wife and I recall ever contacting DISH about any changes to our subscription and do not believe it was true. The representative insisted that we had signed up for a new package and would not agree to cancel our service until we gave him a credit card to pay for all the additional fees! I believe it cost us nearly $180 just to cancel our service after all those years. I was a satisfied customer for almost 15 years but even if I’m not satisfied with my new streaming service (which I expect I will be), I will NEVER do business with this company again.
