First of all they cut our power line when burying the cables. DISH employees ran off without informing us of what they did. I looked out and saw the power company outside and had to ask them what was going on. They explained Dish employees cut the main power line. No apology. Nothing from dish for this. Service was very poor the first 6 months, the frame kept freezing continuously. Finally they changed both boxes the Joey and the hopper, this worked for 3 months. Now we’re having the same problem. The TV shows interrupted every few minutes. They promised a gift card of 400.00 which we never received. I was calling since service started to let them know we hadn’t received the gift card. They continued to say it’s coming and don’t worry about the expiration date that I saw on the card in dish app.
Now their response is the gift card expired even though it was never received by us and apparently no one else. "Dish stated it wasn’t activated. We still cannot replace it”. DISH Network is a company that lies and does not stand by their word. I have never ever had such a horrible experience with a company period. The worst experience ever. Fraudulent!!

1st dish is an extremely dishonest company. Took me 4 hours to cancel Dish. Almost takes an act of god. So I drove to their office on their website to cancel in person only to find they moved out 10 years ago. Was told the codes office was an hour away. Finally got it cancelled just to find out they charge you $20 dollars to send their equipment back to them. So run away from this company.

DISH is absolutely worthless and I wouldn’t recommend them to my worst enemy. After 14 years as a customer I called in to discuss another price increase and stated that I was going to be canceling the service since we rarely watch cable and could no longer justify paying the ever increasing rates. The woman I spoke to kept me on the phone forever and ultimately offered to lower my bill by just under $30 (a special top 200 package) and we talked about getting rid of the Joey Hopper in the bedroom as well as the kids package since we don’t use either of these. This should have amounted to about $40-45 in savings once I downgraded to one DVR and no kids channels. Fast forward a few months and I am paying $20 more a month than the original amount I called to complain about. I went to cancel my service and was told I would have to pay a $360 cancellation fee.

Updated on 09/09/2023: See prior post...after 3 hrs on the phone, transferred 13 times, Dish still can't this simple move right! I am moving to a different state and called Dish to advise of the up coming move. Even though the move is not for another 10 days, they have changed my TV time and programming to reflect my new location. So as I tried to watch TV in my current state the programming is 2 hours off to reflect the shows in my new state. Unbelievable!!! They know when I will be in the new state because I have set-up an work order for them to come and install at the new location. You have to work very hard to get this simple task wrong. Maybe if Dish stop giving job to 3rd party companies and get some employees who speak english they might be able to get something right for a change.
Orginal Review: How do these people stay in business? The worst customer service of all time and the TV service rarely works. I decided to write a review as I sit on hold with Dish. I have already been transferred 8 times and each rep just screen my call for the next person. They ask a few questions and transfer me to the next person. I am moving and I want to transfer my service but no one know what they are doing. Over an hour and all they do is transfer me to person to person. Now I am holding waiting to be transferred for the 9th time. Every time I call Dish it is the same frustrating experience. Even though there is no contract they claim you must stay with them for 2 yrs because you're renting their equipment. Something they forget to tell you when you sign up.
They also lied about the price and the 2 yr guarantee. Dish is very deceitful and a nightmare. The last rep put me on hold over 25 mins ago and has yet to come back to the phone. Now it's 1 1/2 hour and nothing has been done, still holding. You would have to be crazy to sign up with this company. Now after 46 mins on hold (this time) and without anyone coming back to the phone, someone has come to the line! No surprise I need to start from the beginning again!!!!
William will transfer the service and for my trouble he will give me 2 months of Showtime for free. Hang-up, 2 hrs later and still NO Showtime. Would you believe I have to call back. After 50 minutes I have learned that William put in the work order wrong. No surprise!!!! The only way to get me Showtime is to cancel the move order and start from the beginning. However, if they do that they will no longer be able to install the service at the new location on the date I had set-up! Unbelievable!!!! Today total time on phone with Dish is over 3 hours, transfer 13 times. Counting the days until I can kick Dish to the curb.

I was on hold over 30 mins, when I finally got to talk to someone I told them I would like to cancel my dish. So they told me I would have to pay 137.00 dollars to cancel my subscription, I told them it's not fair to change me that and the lady try to let me talk to another person., So I told the lady all I wanted is to cancel my dish nothing else.

Dish seems like their customer service is run out of an internet cafe from somewhere on the other side of the planet. Service representative was barely intelligible and the hold time was almost an hour. Livestreaming is going to end their stupidity before long anyway.

Service was hooked up with no problem. Constantly rebooting after install. After contract was over I got the 132$ bill called to cancel - no answer. Had to call dozens of times and when I finally got through, the guy said he can't cancel. More calls, finally got through to a woman, asked to cancel, she said it was canceled - she lied. Next bill due called to cancel, guy said he couldn't do it because computer was down. Had to put stop payment, been on hold while doing this review. Have complaint form sent from BBB and writing letter to corporate in Colorado. Disconnected the box a month ago waiting for the return box that's not coming. Regret getting this product, wasn't worth what I was paying anyway.

I was trying to cancel my 80 year old mother’s account because she can’t afford it anymore. First I was on hold for 30 minutes 4 times! Then finally getting to the right person, he was stalling me trying to talk me into a cheaper service. I explained to him that we wanted no service from Dish 3-4 times and he kept on trying to talk me into it. Then, he was asking about what she watched, is she using something else…. I asked him politely a few times to please just cancel and he refused! My husband had to take over and get more firm but he continued his nagging. That phone call lasted over 30 minutes. These people are awful, rude, and their customer service is horrific! It took me 3 hours to cancel my mom’s service. DON’T USE THIS SERVICE!!!!

⛔⚠️ $104/MO TO BE TREATED LIKE THIS?! We have been customers for 5 years. So much for that! I paid Dish the $50 service call to have my receiver moved to another part of my house. After waiting the 5 hours window, the tech never showed. He claimed there was a different address on my account. That's weird! The DISH bill can find its way to my home every month, but the technician cannot?
I called Dish to ask them . . . anyone to get in contact with their Tech Dept/Dispatch. 6 transferred calls later (and having to explain myself each time), and 2 hang ups, I sat on hold for 1:18:17 to speak to someone to say, "JUST CANCEL MY SERVICE!" Dish can forget about any type of contract we had with one another since only I have been holding up my part of the service commitment. DISH BREACHED THE CONTRACT, I WALK AWAY. PERIOD. DISH's customer appreciation monthly fee must start at $105/mo.? Therefore, my $104/mo. payments can be better served by any of Dish's competitors.

DISH Network is a company is that lies and does not stand by their word. The worst experience ever. The salesperson on the phone will make all types of promises to get the deal and once the service technician arrives at the door, the installation technician will let you know what their work order states. The installation technician is the only one with integrity and the head workers and management lie like today’s politicians and fake news. Once a manager or management is contacted, he will lie saying he is going to resolve the issue within 24-48 hours. The issue will never be resolved and the political customer reps and Residential customer agreement for cancellation will dance around the problem instead of fixing the issue or discontinuing the service.
You will be left feeling disappointed and regretful, and praying that there is someone that cares about the customer and customer satisfaction. I blame myself for not looking at the reviews before calling DISH, and I could have saved myself from feeling overwhelmed with lies and disappointment. If you do not believe me inbox me on Facebook or email me. Based on my experience, I will let you listen to my entire conversation and you can make your choice about DISH.

My advice to anyone thinking about DISH is run as fast as you can from this unethical, immoral business who gouges you if you ever decide to leave their crappy service. They do not care and customer service shouldn't even be a department with this immoral company - it should be called the Liars Department. I held 2 Dish accts for many years. In one location, just as I was getting ready to move, they offered me a "free trial". I didn't want to take it but they assured me there was no obligation. Then, when I called to cancel less than a month later due to a pending move, they said my contract had restarted (they didn't say this in the "free" offer) and it would cost me several hundred to terminate. I protested. They charged me anyway, but after many complaints, they charged much more manageable amt which I paid under protest. I am still getting collection letters almost 2 years later. I have called dish multiple times. As recently as this morning. They said "gee we'd love to help but we are going through a system update and can't take your information". Do NOT use this service.

My parents have been with Dish Network for 9 years with the same equipment the whole 9 years… The equipment was so old the dish wasn’t working properly, so my mom called to speak with them. They brought new equipment which she thought was great. She didn’t understand that meant sign a new 2 year contract. I called and spoke with them today and they were no help at all. She asked to terminate and set up a payment plan since they are elderly and on a fixed income and was told no has to be paid in full. He clarified THEY DID NEED NEW BOXES due to the system updated and their boxes wouldn’t work anymore. So my question is why make them sign a new contract if the equipment needed to be updated for the system??? We are very disappointed at this point. After being a customer for 9 years….

They did not verify the account info to take payment but made it difficult to cancel the account. I called. Was told my bill would be corrected and I would get a new bill in 7-10 business days. Never got a corrected bill. Instead they turned me over to a collection agency. Then to top that all off they ran my bank card for a 40 dollar cancelation fee without my knowledge or permission. When I called they told me that was part of my contract. No notice, no phone call, no email, nothing, just a 40 charge to my bank. The only reason I did not pay as of yet was because I was waiting for a corrected bill. Never mind they had already turned me over to a collection agency not even a month after I cancelled my account.

Dish Network has been a nightmare since day one. My house loses reception anytime there is even a drop of rain of a storm miles away. The signal is lost for hours or days. In addition the $100 that I pay for 150+ channels is VERY misleading. There are duplicate channels, in some cases as many as 4 channels broadcasting the same content under a different listing. Add in government channels and other channels that have ZERO entertainment value out of 150 channels I’m the total number is much lower, maybe 50 or so.
When I recently purchased a new flatscreen tv and called Dish Network to walk me through setting it up I was told that I would need to pay $50 to send a tech to my house to program the tv and remote….The remote controls are terribly designed….If you push the wrong button by accident you’re down the rabbit hole spending the next 30 minutes trying to solve the puzzle. After being a loyal Dish customer for over 25+ years, I decided to just stream the channels that I like. My biggest complaint with Dish has been that I'm paying for channels I never watch and my bill continues to escalate, and had asked on several occasions how I could get my bill and channels reduced to meet my needs. However the catch is the cost is associated with certain channels that are the most popular, so if you want a plan that includes these, you also pay for sometimes hundreds of channels that you will never watch. I decided to cancel my subscription and I was treated in the most deplorable way. After being routed around for over 1 1/2 hours and placed back on hold numerous times, I was finally transferred to "Benjamin" who claimed to be the "specialist" to cancel with.
I've never been treated so poorly by anyone in the customer service world. He badgered me in ways I have never been verbally badgered before. He was condescending, rude, and verbally abusive. After having listened to him for 30 minutes taking insult after insult I was finally able to cancel. This should have been an easy 10 minute max consult but he dragged it out and he continued to escalate his banter. I was so close to hanging up, but to be put back in the queue for another 1 1/2 hours, I just didn't have the time away from my job to do this. I will never use Dish again in anyway shape or form after this experience. With streaming services as competition I would think that Dish would be the ultimate in kindness to keep good loyal customers. Not the case.

Caution to anyone considering subscribing to Dishnetwork. Once your term of service has expired, your monthly charges will increase considerably (for me, it was 69.00 to 116.00). In addition your favorite channels will simply disappear. After a very long wait on hold, the response that I received about all of my favorite channels going missing, was "your free preview of these stations expired on July 1st". As if they were "free" for the past 3 years. Then a superior was going to do me a great favor and upgrade my programming to include my favorites for no additional monthly charge on top of my greatly inflated increases if I sign another three year contract. It is very expensive to break that contract. Is scamming their customers into new contracts the only way Dish can hold onto them? No wonder they want you to isolate your favorite channels.

We cancelled our service on May 21, 2023. I'd just paid the monthly the week before, so we were due a refund of $65.23. I've been contacting them regularly because we've never received this money back. I've been told they couldn't refund to our payment source because banks have a different routing number for money going into the bank and going out of the bank. This was a lie. Then I was told a check was issued on May 22 and mailed out. I would have it within 17 business days, 23 at the most. Here we are on July 7 and I still don't have my refund. When I called yesterday the woman told me she'd send a refund request to customer relations and then follow up with me by the end of yesterday with an email letting me know when to expect the money. So far nothing. Their service has gone to the dogs since they had the month long outage, which is one of the reasons we cancelled the service.
These people continue to lie and drag their feet issuing this refund. Personally think they're getting hard up for customers, so they're trying to keep it. They'd never allow me to take 2 months to pay for my service. They'd charge me a late fee and a reconnect fee. If you're thinking of getting dish, RUN!!! Service is terrible and they don't take care of their customers.

I finally had my bank stop payment and I wrote Dish a note on the bill. When I got through 2 weeks later, my call was dropped. I continued trying and finally was able to explain the whole situation to an agent. The agent said I did not owe that month's charge, and I returned the equipment. Now I have a letter and a bill from a collection agency for amount I was told I did not owe. I called Customer Service and during the conversation, the call was dropped. (Surprise!) I cancelled my dish subscription, someone came out and took the equipment which I was not supposed to get charged for, and I still had to call them because I got charged anyway. They said they charged me for someone coming out. I told them I was told I would not get charged when I cancelled, but they would not honor what had been said to me previously. This was after I had been transferred to 3 different people and been on hold for 40 minutes. I also found out my account had not been cancelled. If I had not called, I would have been charged for service too. This is not worth it. This is just one of the many things I could tell you. Lots of other issues with price hikes, charges we could not get an answer for, etc. I would not recommend Dish to anyone.

Just extricated my grandmother from her very limited Dish service, and it cost about $300 and 3 different 30 minute phone calls just to get rid of them. Originally she was able to access quite a few stations (like 20 years ago) but now she was down to about 10 useful stations and a ton of pay per view to the tune of $135 per month. This company is dying a slow painful death and in its death throes it is lashing out at its few existing customers.
In my opinion, no one should be using this antiquated, user unfriendly service now that we can all (most areas) stream for a tiny fraction of the cost (or for free!) without all the foolish equipment and hardware and ancient remote/screen interface. Because customers are leaving in droves, they are coming up with ridiculous so called “deals” attached to hideous early termination fees - hundreds of dollars (even after staying with them for years) that they hardly mention as they obnoxiously tout their “wonderful” (actually pitiful compared to what is available online) offers.
They raise rates without warning. Their onscreen interface is difficult and confusing. It allows paid per view services to be purchased with little or no notification so children and unaware users mistakenly buy shows and rack up unnoticed charges. I think older people are sometimes falling prey to these scams because they don’t realize how TV service is evolving. My advice, check in with your parents and grandparents and help them get out of their ancient service and teach them the joy of online streaming - sometimes simply controlled by voice commands without any hidden costs, early termination fees, rooftop equipment installation etc.

I finally got a hold of a few representatives on April 11. One of the representatives I spoke to was pulling up the account on his end and said that the account started to appear, then disappeared from his screen. He said they were having technical difficulties but assured me that we would not be charged since we had been trying to cancel the service. He said to call back in 7 days.
I tried calling again after a week and couldn't get in touch with anyone. I finally spoke to an agent today because we just received a bill and a notice of service disconnection. I told the representative that we had been trying to cancel for the last several months, told her about the conversation on April 11 (that was supposed to be documented) and asked her to speak to a manager. She asked me why I wanted to speak to a manager. I told her that no one has been able to resolve this issue and she just seemed adamant to not get a manager. Where do I begin? I've been a Dish customer for more than six years, and I must say, the service has been consistently dreadful. The customer service representatives seem clueless and incapable of resolving issues. Throughout these past six years, I can count on one hand the number of pleasant interactions I've had with both phone agents and technicians who visited my home.
The final incident that pushed me over the edge was when a technician arrived to fix my internet, but after a painstaking four-hour struggle, he couldn't figure it out. I felt terrible for him, especially when he called his manager and put him on speakerphone. To my dismay, the manager simply stated that I would need to upgrade my plan or seek another service provider, at an additional cost of $10.99 per month. Let me remind you that I'm already paying a whopping $181 per month for internet and cable services.
The disrespect I felt in that moment was unparalleled, and the technician was at a loss for words since he couldn't rectify the internet issue. Fed up with the situation, I made a call today to cancel my services, only to encounter an incredibly rude individual on the other end of the line. We called 2 weeks prior to the end of our billing cycle to cancel our service. We called Feb 15, 2023 and asked to end Feb 20, 2023. Billing cycle ends on Feb 28. Service was disconnected on the date we requested. We were told we would receive a box within 10 days to return the equipment. Well, DISH had a breach of some kind for well over a month. Then in March they continued deducting my monthly payment of $121.93 for service from Feb 28-March 27 (no service). There was nobody available to call because of their "breach".
Finally, I got thru and was told they did not have access to accounts but was told she assumed they probably just billed everybody across the board. I have called probably 8 times. I also sent written request. Hours on the phone. Until the last 3 calls always told the same thing. Call back. Then I got George on 4-20-23 that requested my refund for me. Would process in 24 hours. Nope. Called 4-25-23 and got Andrea. She was processing it. Allow 7-10 days. Nope. Called 4-25-23 got Imee. Said I was owed $21 because equipment not returned. Mind you, with each call I asked for a box. Then I emailed local news. Figured probably other people with same issue. Still waiting on them too.
Today I got an email from DISH giving me a free movie certificate with my new service. What new service? Called DISH again, 5-10-23. Told to just disregard as they did not restart my service (they better not have), but also told that I was issued my full refund on 4-25-23 and it takes 19 days and today is day 11. Don't know why Ms Imee on May 5 didn't know that! Also was told that Imee's notes stated she told me to call my financial institution. False. Could not verify where they sent the refund. Also, finally I did receive my box 3 days ago and sent equipment back. I know this is a long rant, but I just wanted people to see what an ordeal it has been! Ridiculous! From the day I first started my association with Dish they have continually used lies and deceit in every interaction I have had with them. When I called to begin service, I was told I didn't need additional boxes, I could have up to several people streaming the service on MY Dish. This is a blatant lie. Only one person at a time can stream the service and it is crap. Unfortunately, I had already entered the contract at this point so I had to add more services to have what I needed. About six weeks ago, I decided to change companies and cancel the service. Unbeknownst to me, their website had been hijacked. The wait time to talk to someone was rediculous; no way to contact them online. However, they had taken the trouble to set up a method to pay your bill. They will get their money no matter what. I finally get to talk to someone and they were supposed to cancel my service. Didn't happen.
I call again. This time I get the option to get a call back. When they call back 2 hours later, the guy cancels my service and tells me I will receive a box to return equipment and I can view my final bill of -$9.43 on my account in 48-72 hours. I wait 3 or 4 days and pull up the account. It says my account has been closed and do I want to re activate it. I take this to mean I am reactivating my online account. I click yes and it take me to my account where the balance does show -$9.43. I am satisfied with this and let it go.
A couple of weeks later, I get a bill for $111.92. I call again. This time I am told they are cancelling my account and my final bill will be $19 plus. When I asked why, they told me I had re activated my service when I went to my account online. In my opinion based on 30 years of customer service experience myself, the website was purposely misleading to try to recoup some of the money they lost when the website was hijacked. I will never ever use this company again!!!

We pay about $87 per month for basic satellite TV service from DISH. This includes an extra $10 per month or $120 per year for service calls. On March 30, mid PM our TV quit, with a message to not call for service as service would be restored shortly. The next day - No Service - with a message for self-fix involving checking power cables, checking antenna, disconnect then restore power, all to avoid a service call. Everything that was advised was performed with the exception of antenna inspection because it was above freezing and no snow & no tree branches were obstructing antenna. It was dark & any inspection would involve a strong beam light source. The DISH service number was displayed 800-333-3474 - I called.
Upon calling DISH, the usual robot answered - the tone was muffled and monotone - difficult to understand - finally after numerous attempts I succeeded in getting in line for a connect for service. After waiting 20 minutes, I decided to get thru using the DISH chat feature. After initializing the "chat" on the DISH site I waited for about 20 minutes for a response. Finally, the DISH agent responded. He asked me for the reason for call - I responded - No Service - DISH asked if there was a number on the screen - I responded asking for a service call - this went on for about 3 cycles.
I informed DISH that I was not able to see the TV as was using a computer in another room, but should I need to leave the computer, turn on TV, look at screen, observe message on screen, leave TV, return to computer it would take 15 minutes - I asked DISH if he would be "OK" with that. DISH finally agreed to allow a service call that should/might occur some 24-30 hours later - next day. Like, fix it - we paid the extra $10. All this follows an event that disabled the DISH on-line site. Apparently, DISH was hacked, possibly, ransom ware?
Almost 1 hour was spent in obtaining a service appointment including long wait times then continual efforts by DISH to avoid a service call. We pay DISH $10 per month or $120 per year for service calls. We can understand why DISH needs to avoid making an unnecessary service call but the $86 per month fee should enable better & improved access to resolve technical issues like no TV service for about 36 hours. DISH (**) is marginally better then DIRECTV (*).

I might mention that we have the $10 a mo. service plan because we do not do TV repairs/resets, etc. well. It was 11:30 at night.
Today I called Dish again. The pause was still on the TV the person told me. She also said that she was taking it off. Long story short, she didn't either. I will start off by saying I am aware that DISH Network was hacked recently. The service and treatment to follow is beyond belief. I have been with DISH for 11 years. When the attack occurred, customers were told their service would not be interrupted. Well that was not correct. My service was, in fact, shut off during the period of time we were assured it would not be. I could not go online to pay my bill because I had to have an account number to do so.
Their troubleshooting fact page said, "account number is on your paper copy" which I have not had for years. I called several times to pay my bill and when calling got a message that said, "call volume too high right now, call back later" and would hang up. I was finally able to get in line and sat on hold for 2 hours. The agent offered to take my payment over the phone and when giving me my balance, I was charged a $10 late fee...for something that was not in my control. Rather than deducting it and restoring my service, I was told they would credit me next month.
Yesterday, a sunny, clear, no wind day, I had a message on my tv that said "complete signal loss". I unplugged as they suggest in their troubleshooting video only to end up with a black screen. No tv. I attempted unsuccessfully to troubleshoot. That brings me to today 3/23/23, I attempted every problem-solving step outlined in the DISH YouTube videos. Dish not obstructed, receiver is plugged in, cable is screwed in tight, even unscrewed and screwed back in to be sure, unplugged waited 10 seconds and plugged back in. Still a black screen. Unplugged several more times and waited 60 seconds, 5 minutes. No change.
I decided to try the chat feature. After an 1.5 hour wait, I was connected to someone who asked me to troubleshoot the steps I had already completed, however complied in an attempt to resolve the issue. At the end of troubleshooting, I was told I needed a tech to come look at my system. The representative could not give me a timeline of when the tech would be out to resolve the issue. I expressed concern about paying for a service I did not have. I was told I could contact DISH and they would credit me days I am without service but cannot give me an idea of how long I will be without service.
I was told I could not cancel my service with said representative but would need to call DISH, which either does not take calls or has a significantly long wait time. We ended with the representative telling me I could go online and access their most common troubleshooting YouTube videos, to which I shared, I had already done that and completed again during our chat. No tv and no timeline of when it might be restored.

She transferred me to a gentleman that seemed pleasant enough at first. He had asked me what I was calling for and I told him also that I was closing my account. He then began to question me as to why I was canceling my account and I told him I was moving and there was already TV at my son's house so I didn’t need any TV service.
Then he asked me why don’t I take my Dish with me and all my components and I told him what would I do with them? If there is already TV at the home I’m going to. Then he asked me, "Why don’t you just leave all the stuff that you’re home you’re living in now and just take a pause in your account." And I told him what would the sense of that be if I’m moving and selling the house. Then he tried to tell me to keep the equipment for the next person that buys the house and just keep the account open.
Finally, after talking to him for 30 minutes and being put on hold three times he came back after talking to his manager and said, "We can’t close your account today because our computers are down." And I asked him, "Why did you just tell me that when I called 30 minutes ago. You could’ve told me that right off the bat." He said I would have to call back in about a week when their computers are working again. I asked to talk to his manager and he said all the managers are busy answering the telephone, so I wouldn’t be able to speak to them today. I intend to follow this up in seven days and if that doesn’t work, I guess I will just turn off the system and move out of the house and leave the stuff behind.

We had no less than 5 702 receivers replaced and each time we got a hassle to pay fees for the replacement receiver when we were paying a monthly maintenance fee already. Last year 2022 we were told the 700 series receiver was discontinued and we would have to go with a hopper replacement. This required a new contract and unfortunately we live in rural area and had no other options. Immediately our bills from dish were $30.00 higher than we were told when we regrettably signed the contract. We had to constantly negotiate to get billing down as they claim 120 channels but all but local channels are repeats of repeats that are of no interest.
Recently we negotiated a temporary lower rate due to both of our out of work and surgery required by both of us. 2 days before the end of our February period and 1 day before I was to go to the hospital our service was disconnected. Over the years we have spent thousands of dollars on this useless service and hours and hours on the phone trying to get bills corrected. Yesterday we spent 2 hours and talked to 4 people who insisted we pay $13.00 they said we owed because they had no records of the reduced amount for 2 months billing by dish.
This has been typical for the entire 20+ years we’ve had them they don’t take any thing down and then claim that there was no agreement or that we have agreed to something that we never talked to them about again and again and again. If you don’t already do business with dish, don’t, stay away from them don’t call them and if you do business with them cancel as soon as you can and definitely don’t renew a contract.

They lie to get you in with promises. Then when they don't deliver it's too late because they have you wrapped in a quest contract. And if you try to break said contract because they didn't give you what they promised then they will charge your credit card 450 dollars. They lose channels all the time. And won't offer their customers any kind of compensation for this. Their customer service is outsourced and most of the representatives barely speak English. Even though they have names like Jim and Kathy. Watch out for hoppers that haven't been cleared out. I ended up being charged for adult movies that I never rented. After being charged 3 month in a row for 3 adult movies I finally was able to prove I was out of town at a funeral when some of these moves were ordered. It turned out my hopper was still set from the perverse customer. I wasn't renting or recording any of these movies I was getting.
Finally after three months of being worried someone had access to my place and my account. Dish replaced my hopper with a new one. I never got a sorry or offer to credit me for being charged for those movies. When they replaced my hopper the technician had me sign his tablet. I asked him why I need to sign my name. Do not do business with this dishonest company. They will trick you into paying for contracts you never agreed to. I contracted with DISH network for satellite service. Part of the agreement was that I was hooked for two years. I even added a service arrangement with them that stipulated I would not be charged their ultra high service fee if they had to send a technician to repair their defective product when it broke. When I experienced an interruption in service that could not be solved working with one of their phone operators they sent a technician to my house. The technician was very pleasant and discovered that the DISH receiver was not functioning properly and was in fact outdated and he replaced it. By doing that DISH extended my contract for another two years. Their excuse was that when I agreed to have the non functioning receiver replaced I was automatically agreeing to the extension of my contract.
The alternative was to continue to pay for a service I was no longer receiving. Use HULU or NETFLIX, or any service that is internet based instead. No hidden equipment rental fees or fake extension of any contract. DISH is simply fundamentally dishonest. They will steal your money and they have interruptions in service very frequently. They offer minimal assistance when this happens.

I signed up with DISH in May of 2021. I got their basic equipment, which seemed to be very buggy. But I figured it was just the nature of the beast. After a few weeks of pixelization, and interruptions in DVR programs I called DISH. They sent out a the same technician who installed it originally, and he quickly came to the conclusion that leaves on a tree were causing the problem. Hmmmm....I thought there were leaves on the tree when he installed the dish. But I accepted his foolishness and cut down offending limbs about two weeks later. No leaves....same problems. But as it was summer, and I spend little time watching tv in the summer I was recording quite a bit on the DVR though.
After about three months the satellite box was barely able to provide an hour of programming without audio and video cutouts. I called DISH again....and they sent the same imbecile out again. He said he could swap the box out, but that I would lose all of the premium programming I had recorded (3 months free pay channels). So I kept the box in order to keep the programming I had recorded.
After about a year the box had become so unstable that pixelization and audio/video cutouts were like part of every tv show. I had enough. I called DISH and demanded a new box. I asked them if they were able to transfer programs saved on DVR and they said they now could. Great!! The same knuckle dragging technician showed up with a new box, connected it to my old box, and quickly deleted every single recording. Ooooops. And to add insult to injury the box that they replaced the old box with was nearly as bad as the original. Now that box has failed completely (with a full DVR), and with 4 months left on the contract. They are sending out a new box (and TRIED to charge me to replace their defective equipment), but I know again everything on the DVR will be lost again.
There's a few things people should know about DISH. They do not honor the promotions offered when you sign up. I signed up for the 55+ plan, which offered a free movie every month. They have refused to honor that. They provide substandard equipment. The boxes I have received have great difficulty streaming, are not capable of recording one show and watching another, have a nasty habit of shutting down and rebooting while I am watching television, and lack the basic tool of a screensaver to prevent burn in on flat screen tv's when programming is paused.
If you call their "customer service" you will spend hours on hold and usually be connected to the Third World. Once reaching someone they will blame everything but their own equipment for problems. It's the weather (cloudy)....your internet isn't working (it's working fine)....the box needs to be reset(I've done that while suffering through waiting for a customer service non professional), etc, etc.
Once the problem isn't resolved you will be transferred to a different customer service non professional and the process repeats itself. And expect calls to be frequently disconnected, allowing you the pleasure of wading through their hellish automated answering system. Expect to listen to a noxious diatribe of DISH propaganda while waiting for an indifferent customer service non professional, most of that propaganda centered around how to pay your bill and how to buy additional services (even though they aren't providing the ones you've paid for).
Unless you rent their more expensive box many of the services they claim to provide don't work. You cannot remotely access programming on your DVR, the DISH anywhere app is limited to a small amount of programming, and Android devices cannot be used as a remote. That last thing is a real problem, because if your remote doesn't work the entire system is essentially useless. That happened once with me. My response was to get a new remote and then claim it doesn't work, prompting them to send you another. They will try and charge you for this, but if you refuse to pay they'll send it anyway.
Having DISH has been the most unpleasant video provider i have ever had. They are a dishonest business that tries to bleed the customer for every dollar possible once you are locked into a contract with them. I will be done with these dregs this May, and I am already sharpening up my streaming skills. Streaming does have a few disadvantages to satellite to be sure, but at a little over half the cost, no garbage equipment to fail (a backup FireStick is cheap) and far less time spent on the phone with the Third World. I'm sure those disadvantages will be more than outweighed by the wonderful feeling of being liberated from DISH network.
Oh, and one more thing. I haven't had my local Fox affiliate for months. When asked about this DISH tells me the only option is to get a streaming service or a roof antenna. I'm too far away for a roof antenna, but the streaming suggestion was very helpful. DISH pointed the way to their own replacement. DISH has been an excursion in hell for this customer.

We've had Dish service for close to 3-yrs now, approximately 3-4 months ago our bill increased by $70-$80 a month so we started looking for a cheaper service. We located an alternate service that was significantly cheaper than Dish. I contacted Dish on 01/13 to cancel service and was told it would cost $220 due to an early termination fee. I questioned the early cancellation fee since we've had Dish for close to 3-years, we only signed a 24-month contract? The Senior Resolution Rep (Maria) stated that when we moved to North Carolina from Florida in November '21 that I requested an extra Joey Box for our Den, the other Dish equipment was brought with us from Florida.
I did request an additional Joey box for the Den and Maria stated when doing so it automatically renewed our 24-month contract. I never agreed to a 24-month contract extension, I was never informed of an extension and would have NEVER agreed to an extension for just adding another receiver? Contract extensions generally occur when the customer is getting a special rate or something similar and NOT because the customer is paying more a month for an extra receiver.
I found it EXTREMELY suspicious that on (2) occasions Maria stated the reason our monthly bill went up was because our contract ended cancelling our "special rate." I stopped Maria twice and questioned why the cancellation fee if our contracted ended as she mentioned TWICE. Maria quickly corrected herself and said the contract was renewed when we requested an extra box, if we use the renewed scenario, we should still be receiving our special contract rate, correct?? I got no response...
We NEVER agreed to a contract extension and Maria stated TWICE our monthly bill went up because our contract ended? There are WAY too many customer complaints on BBB that revolve around a shady business practice severely lacking in ANY sort of transparency! There are too many alternatives to be treating customers in this manner. Based on other reviews from this site and many other sites, Dish has a reputation for being dishonest with their customers, this isn't just a one-off from a lone disgruntled customer...

If you are considering Dish's product. Please be aware of the automatic two-year term of the contract. Once you sign up, you must pay for it for two years, even if you dislike the service or pay a $500 fee. This term is set automatically upon signing up. We bought their product, disliked the quality and quantity of the available content and wished to cancel. The first time we called, they recommended that we put the service on hold for six months as we were "too new to cancel." Being on hold requires a monthly fee of approximately $18.
When we called back several months later to say we were not interested in the service and wanted to cancel, they told us that the two-year term would start when we started paying for the service again (e.g., two more years) or we could pay a $500 termination fee. Nobody mentioned this in any of our other calls. Tricking customers into delaying their ability to exit and announcing fees when they actually want to cancel is a very poor customer experience. We recommend that you select another cable or satellite service that is more forthright in its dealings with customers and provides a higher-quality product.

I called in November to see what I could work out. The agent said he could put me back on pause. I haven't used my service for a very long time due to financial hardship as a single income with many challenges. When I called in the agent advised me he could pause another 9 months and I paid the amount he told me. I said, "So we are ok?" He told me I was OK.
I did not realize there was a balance still owed. Tried to work something out. They can't do anything. In addition my furnace went out. I had to have heat in winter. My point is I may have missed this but their agent did as well. Sometimes we have no control over what happens in life. The agents I spoke with today would not work something out so unless I can come uo with $$$ I just will have to let them do what they have to. Heat and food is a tad more we important than tv. I just finished a half hour marathon with three different reps trying to figure out why I was being charged for service through 1/14/23 when I am scheduled to be disconnected on 1/5/23. I decided to cancel service at the beginning of December because 1) no access to the local ABC network even though they advertise that they provide this and I have had to listen to them whine about their contract with Cox five times now, 2) the satellite goes out every time it rains and 3) I get static in my pictures all the time.
When I scheduled the disconnect for 1/5 they didn't tell me that there was an $80 charge for stopping service before my 2-year contract was up. I asked what they were doing to reimburse me for my lack of service and got no answer except that another recitation of their sales hype about negotiating for ABC. Then they tell me that it will cost me $20 to ship their equipment back to them. I was so furious at learning now about the extra $100 I will have to pay that I told them to stop service immediately.
When I first had Dish installed, they broke my attic ladder and it took me a month to get anyone to do something about it. Now they aren't providing the service they said they would and are still going to charge me to stop service. I wouldn't recommend Dish to anyone ever. I asked if I needed to return the equipment and he initially said yes, and then I told him that I was not at the location where the equipment was, and he checked something in his computer and then he said that I did not have to return any of the equipment or Dish Network boxes.
The Dish Network rep told me that I could take the three satellite boxes for recycling at any nearby Best Buy, which our caretaker did, and now Dish Network is charging me $349 for unreturned equipment. Dish Network should always be upfront and honest with their customers even though they are disconnecting service and not be deceitful like this. To begin... My fiance had become frustrated with AT&T/DirecTV and I suggested Dish (since we live in the boonies, in my father's childhood home/rural Minnesota). When we reached out, the sales department gave us the 'full court press', so to speak; we were TOLD we wouldn't lose any channels, all would be the same, we would receive a $200 gift card, free install for two years, yada yada yada... Not a single thing proved true...
We were placed on a 'prepaid account' (admittedly our credit was limited, we paid cash for 90% of our purchases, no loans, no credit cards, etc, inherited our house, soooo... Understandable) -- but we were told that after 2 years of on time payments it would AUTOMATICALLY TRANSITION to a traditional postpaid account (but we could not make payment arrangements, the day the bill was due, we would get a 48-hour window [in actuality it's roughly 36-hours] before the service is shut off, with a LARGE reconnect fee would be added)... ***And were told that we would be notified before each price hike by 30-days.***
We did so, to no avail... After enduring the 2 year gauntlet, nothing happened... Apart from a rate hike... The IMMEDIATE issue was the lack of HBO. We were PROMISED HBO/MAX and no changes to our service... Lies... They were "in litigation" with HBO over a rate hike that lasted the length of our contract... But we were 'locked in", so we zipped our lip and endured... Then, after waiting around 6 months, I reached out regarding the $200 gift card that didn't arrive (which would have been WELCOME because in that window 3 of my vertebrae exploded... I underwent emergency surgery and when I awoke, I was wholly unable to bear weight from the waist down and became trapped on my side in a hospital bed in my living room, awaiting further surgical interventions, to present)...
We were given a handful of PPV vouchers in exchange... I informed the person on the phone that internet service ends 2 miles away from our home, so if PPV is contingent upon internet/WiFi, they would be useless, he claimed that internet service was unnecessary... So we accepted the vouchers. We attempted to use one a few months later, to no avail... Internet service was INDEED required to utilize the vouchers, so there they sat, useless and unused for the duration... We held our breath for the two years, waiting out the final promise from the company, which [surprise, surprise] was NOT honoured...
Recently, we discovered our bill jumped from $165 to $212, which is a MASSIVE increase (with ZERO NOTICE) and were rudely informed that that was the price of service at the close of the 2 year contract. The account TYPE never "automatically" transitioned. We were informed that the ONLY way to do so was to cancel the service, wait anywhere from 30-days to a year (depending on who you speak to, the duration changes), and RE-ENROLL as a client (which is asinine). I was aghast... The KICKER is that I WORKED for Dish Network out of high school, out of the corporate offices; rising through the ranks in customer service and eventually becoming a team lead for Customer Service and Retention... And I would NEVER treat a customer/client the way we've been treated...
As I said to countless reps: Clearly, one hand does not know what the OTHER is doing (between Sales and Service)... This situation is SNAFU/FUBAR... And if I have to climb up the ladder, to corporate, in order to rectify the countless lies, inaccuracies, and missteps, I most certainly WILL. I may be disabled... Crippled... But I have a mind like a steel-trap... They will NOT be getting over on me ... One way or another, we will hold them to account...

If they had explained this and I would be saving a whopping $6 per month I would have for sure cancelled Dish. Don't trust what they tell you.

My 83 year old mother signed up with DISH 4 months ago. She was not aware of a 2 year contract or being cognitively challenged at this point in her life she did not understand or remember that should she cancel before the 2 years is up she will be charged $400. She lives in a rural area in NY and had lots of technical issues. When she would call for assistance she repeatedly spoke with technicians who she could not understand and they would try to walk her through fixing her issues. After a few attempts to fix her problem she got frustrated and cancelled her account.
We have sent the necessary equipment back and when I called to ask if they would rescind the $400 charge they said the only thing she could do is reinstate her account and they would waive the fee. Otherwise, she is to pay the full $400. I explained that she does not have $400 to pay and at her age she lives social security check to social security check with barely enough to get by let alone pay such a substantial amount of money. I'm just putting this out there so if others sign up, please check on the termination fee and read your fine print.

We had been a long term customer who paid our bill promptly every month. Service was spotty - went out often. Sometimes with just a few raindrops. Prices increased exponentially as channel options decreased. Finaly straw was a 50.00 per month increase and a request for yet another two year contract. Cancelled service. Had to jump through hoops to get the boxes and labels to send equipment back. Finally received. We immediately boxed everything up and returned it.
Two weeks later UPS shows up asking if we have a box for DISH. I explained that equipment was already returned. Driver advised that this happens all of the time. In addition, he warned that they will probably try to claim some or all of the equipment was not returned. Sure enough, six weeks later, we get a bill for unreturned equipment. Supervisor informs me that one Joey was missing. (It was not.) Terrible company. Terrible customer service. The only good thing I can say is that their terrible service led me to a streaming service that is much better. And $100 per month less expensive.

The local telephone company is getting rid of their current TV provider. They are replacing it with DirecTV, thus we were looking at the Dish Network. We had also received an offer in the mail to obtain a $500 prepaid Mastercard if we signed up for Dish Network programming. Firstly, there is some confusion as to what equipment would be needed for a home with 3 TVs with DVR service. Their online tool only allows you to add the Hopper 2 with 3 TVs or less. The Hopper 2 only has 3 tuners and would not let you record and watch enough channels at once across 3 TVs. A Hopper 3 is needed as it has 16 tuners, allowing for more channels to be recorded and watched at the same time across three TVs. In order to add the Hopper 3, you need to say you have 4 to 6 TVs. If you say you have 4 TVs to add the Hopper a additional Joey unit for a TV you don't actually have is added to the tool, thus increasing the monthly bill.
I called them and they would be able to add the Hopper 3 at no extra cost per month, but that was true as I had used their tool add a Hopper 2 and price they were quoting me over the phone was $10.00 more a month. To make the sale over the phone they told me about a sports package that would be added if I ordered now. Checking the small print on their site this sports package of 16 channels would only be added until the beginning of 2023 and then dropped. Losing these channels was not a problem as I don't watch sports; however, lying by omission is a problem.
They also bragged about the large number channels in the "America's Top 200" which is shown having 240+ channels on their package flyers. The rep said that the package actually has over 300 channels and they are adding more every day. That is true, but after printing off a list of channels to examine that claim is rather meaningless. I don't have any use for the 103 music audio channels; 32 Spanish language channels; 18 shopping channels; 21 sports channels and a host of other channels. Some 236 channels are of no use at all.
Of the remaining channels some 46 are ones that would rarely be used - they might get watched for a moment if you were casually flipping through the channels. Fifteen more channels would get light use; 4 with medium use and 16 with heavy use. So I paying them $123 a month for 35 channels. They also claim to offer local channels, but that is not true. Each of the local network affiliates operates multiple digital subchannels. Dish Network only carries 9 of the 21 local stations.

I called, put on hold, Rep could not offer anything other than reducing channels, transferred call where I was on hold 20+ minutes, called back, on hold 31+ minutes, this Rep tells me, "You have a build up of $600 in credits!" WHAT? Too late, why couldn't Rep #1 provide that information to save the customer? Rep #2 asked enough questions to be my best friend and learn everything she could about my new services, I repeatedly requested to simply cancel service and tell me what to do. After another 15 minutes, she finally was able to cancel service, but wait -- not until she asked if I had anything exciting to do this weekend. Geez.

I don't even go into that area out with the remote to where you can do such a thing. I think that's pretty cheap. I guess that's what paperless Billings are so you don't know that they've been charging you for something and then they say they've been charging you so long getting away with it so they are not gonna do anything about it but give you one month's credit. $10. Dished problems keep getting worse. If you record certain programs to watch later and you want to fast forward sometime when you want to advance 1 minute it jumps 10 minuets then when you try and back up it goes back to the beginning. 2 years ago they told me it was a software issue and were working on it. They still have not resolved it. Another issue is you set times to all new programs many times it does not. Like This Old House and Ask This Old House. I have to add them manually because when you look at them they say the first time airing was like two days before but yet it was never on that day.
Today I had it set to record two episodes of Emergency. According to to the recorded program list neither recorded. But one did record but it was labeled Little House on the Prairie. Another program is on HGTV called Renovation Island it all over it says new episodes airing yet DISH says they first aired in April so I have to manually enter them. I could set the time to record all new and old but I don't want to watch episodes I have all ready seen. Another one is Mecum Auctions oh the Motor Trend channel. I have it set to record all new episodes but it will not. For each auction you have to set that one to record. They have about 10 auctions a year and if you don't keep track you will miss them. And for no reason at times it just doesn't record program you have set.

After 23 years as a customer, I will absolutely never do business with anything even associated with Dish Network. About 1 1/2 years ago my Reciever DVR started acting up real bad, I called Dish Network and they had a repairman come and he replaced my broken equipment with the Hopper and Joey, little did I know that they were locking me into a 2-year contract for the new equipment. "NEVER EXPLAINED TO ME" so roll forward to a couple months ago I was able to upgrade my internet from 3mb to 100mb making streaming a real option. So I decided to call and Terminate my Services because I liked the streaming service better.
Well, the Agent "never told me that I was under contract" talked me into putting my account on standby just in case I didn't like the streaming services. Fair enough, I waited a few months and decided to call back and Terminate my Services only to find out that I am under contract. The Agent tried to tell me that I would have to wait 8 months before I could cancel. She offered to lower my bill from the $120+ I was paying a month to $59 and so much but, but, but from them. Finally, I was told after asking that I could buy out the remainder of my Contract for $20 for each month remaining for a total of $160 I took this option. Just hate that it took me several disconnect callbacks and nearly 3 hours to get my Service canceled. They really made me mad, can't believe that I was treated as I was after being a customer for so many years.

Dish TV was TERRIBLE. They came and setup my TV with the android box, hopper and joey, but because I live in a deadzone, I had terrible internet service. The 1st tech took 3 hours to setup my box and said my connection was extremely slow. He tried my master bedroom also. I told him my street has patches of one bar reception/signal. He had to reset my Dish unit. He said I could call and cancel my service if I don't like it. After he left, I had to reset my Dish unit multiple times. When I turn on my TV, I get my TV logo and then a black screen. Nothing works. Then after 1-3 minutes the TV turns on because it took that long to get the Android box running. The technician told me when he was installing that it still had a lot of glitches and I can cancel the service if I like over the phone.
I then called Comcast xfinity to start service with them. After it worked, I called on the 4th day of service to disconnect Dish. I thought Dish had a 30 day cancellation policy like Comcast. Instead, Dish said I would need to pay $20 per month for 24 months equating to $480 for my 2 day of service. I called and spoke to the rep then to the supervisor and spent another 15 minutes explaining the situation. They said they would need to send a 2nd tech out.
The 2nd tech came out and confirmed my Dish box was extremely slow and had 4.5 MBPS download and 1.2 upload speed, EVEN though my internet connection was 300 MBPS. I once again said that my home has patches of terrible to no service. I asked again to terminate my contract without the $480 penalty. The technician encouraged me call again.
I called 5x and spoke to 5 Dish reps. I found out even the supervisor can't help me and that I have to go to 3rd level to the resolution team. They again declined my request for waiving the $480 penalty and said they will need to send out a 3rd tech. They did not give me a refund. I will never recommend DISH again! Lina ** Sacramento, CA.

I have been a loyal customer of Dish for over 15 years. Once streaming services became popular, I subscribed to several. I realized I hardly used my Dish anymore. When I called to disconnect, they talked me into their "smallest" package which brought it down to $80 a month. Fast forward several more years. I haven't watched more than 2 hours on my Dish in the past couple of years. I called today to cancel. Suddenly they miraculously had cheaper packages. I had to say no to the customer service person so many times, that I lost my temper. She kept harassing me. It took me 35 minutes to cancel my account. They weren't even going to come and remove the Dish from my roof. She told me that that would be a $50 charge. I was placed on hold multiple times.
After one time, when she was supposed to be finding out if I would get a credit, she came back to tell me that it would be an additional $95 for the technician to get the Dish removed. After another hold, I was informed that only the Dish would be removed and that the pole and all of the cords would remain there (for $145 mind you). Then she told me that the Technician wouldn't be able to take my hopper, etc... back with him. He couldn't be held responsible, even though technicians install and bring the equipment to set up an account. So, in addition, I have to pay $15 for a kit to mail it back. She made me repeat my address (that hasn't changed in the 15 years plus that I have had Dish) 4 times just to be difficult. Dish and cable are antiquated ways to watch television anyway. If this is the way they treat 15+ year customers, no wonder they are losing business right and left. Let the dinosaur die--it deserves it.

After more than 15 years with DISH Network and no contract, in this day and age wanting to cancel my account. After, several times of calling and trying to cancel being kept on the line for 45 mins or more each time my husband had to step in. We just wanted to cancel our account that we didn't need anymore. With all the apps and every tv coming as a smart tv we finally decided to upgrade. I had been begging my husband for the last several years to finally make the jump. We already pay for several other streaming services and barely used the dish. Not only did our monthly amount skyrocket over the years for channels we never used. The only way we could get the few channels we used we had to purchase their package with the most channels. Then to be able to allow our children to watch on different tv's in the house we had to add joeys. Eventually, we didn't bother to ask for a lower price as that would stick us into a 2 year agreement.
At this point we became prisoners of the system. I had had enough and with the inflation going out of control we need to rethink our choices monthly. Finally the day came and my husband agreed to go with another provider for our home entertainment needs in this century and we went completely streaming. So again we tried cancelling our dish account. Over and over again we would ask to just cancel and 45mins later still going back and forth we now had to be transferred to a manager. While on with the manager went round and round again. My husband is now heated and demanded to just cancel.
We have had our equipment for well over 5 years and have never been asked for there equipment back. No agreement just month to month and now we are being charged $15 each box to return their equipment. Yet they won't come and get their really old sat dish on my house. In times when everything is going digital and streaming you would think they would be more considerate and helpful. Losing customers at crazy rates will run them out of business. If thinking about using them, I would think long and hard because it is seeming to be harder than a gym membership to get out of.

DISH customer service retention "team" will tell you anything to retain a customer, even if the information they provide is not correct. DO NOT AGREE to anything over the phone with any customer service person before you know for a fact that the package they are offering is actually what you want. They will claim that what they are providing is what you requested and then require you to verbally agree to a "contract" even before you have an opportunity to find out if what they have said was true. Then I'll switch channels back and forth - and it eventually gives me an error message saying "needs to synchronize." This has already happened 3X in 1 week! What a joke! Our most current issue: primary box had fatal error meaning we can not record, pause, go back, go forward, can only watch prime time recordings from primary box, will have to re-enter all of our favorite recordings set up, and DISH will not expedite delivery of new box or provide a delivery date. The only positive I have to say about DISH is they have live chat so it is not necessary to speak to live person and listen to them read canned responses.
