Beware if you disconnect. They charge $25 to send old equipment back, they waived charge for caps on top of the roof because I’m crippled and 75 and told her I didn’t put them up and wasn’t taking them down. Disconnect is because they lied to me and said they lowered my bill but didn’t tell me it was for 3 months only. Oh they promised to lower the bill again but I don’t believe them anymore. I’m on social security and can’t pay over a hundred dollars anymore and eat and buy medicine and copays. They will say anything to keep customers but don’t believe what they say, I’ve been with for over 7 years, same equipment to, unreliable, expensive, and not worth my money, I feel very hurt by this company. I didn’t have the money they charged for last month and disconnect fee.

All I did was ask for a new remote as the one I have is old with some of the buttons rubbed off from use. It also flips my TV off of my hdmi to my smart tv mode. I get this big song and dance about fixing the remote and disabling smart tv mode. Can't you just send a new remote? I have been with Dish for over 6 years. I may start looking for other ways to watch TV.

In fact my wife and I were out of town that day the pay per view events were supposedly ordered. Worst experience ever!! Would never recommend Dish Network in this lifetime. Thank goodness for Spectrum! They took great care of us and even saved us money with NO CONTRACTS!

I’ve been a DISH customer for over 20 years, and the way they handled my recent issue is the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had. DISH’s own equipment suddenly locked me out of years of recordings stored on a DISH-supported external USB drive. This drive was purchased because DISH promoted that feature, and it has never been used with any other receiver or account. One day it simply stopped working, claiming it was “configured for another account”—which is impossible. This is clearly a DISH system or authentication error, not anything I did.
When I contacted DISH, the first representative said the issue would be escalated to engineering. Three months passed with zero follow-up. When I called again, the next representative avoided escalation entirely, offered no solutions, and kept repeating, “We’re still providing you service,” as if losing years of paid-for recordings didn’t matter. DISH’s A+ BBB rating exists only because they respond to complaints—not because they resolve them. Their real performance is reflected in their 1.11/5 customer review score with nearly a thousand reviews, which is a much more accurate measure of how they treat customers.
Their final answer to me? A $50 credit for the permanent loss of content I paid them to allow me to record. They refused to investigate the error, refused to restore access, and refused to offer meaningful compensation. They even claimed DISH “does not support hard drives,” despite having long advertised and documented external USB recording as a feature. In short: DISH broke a feature they sold, denied responsibility, and dismissed a long-time customer with a token credit. It’s clear they no longer value customers, their loyalty, or the integrity of the services they advertise. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. If DISH’s equipment fails, you’ll be left on your own.

I have been with Dish for several years, but they have recently changed their DVR program so that I have to pay an additional fee to watch various episodes in addition to the high monthly price I am already paying. As far as I am concerned, they have destroyed the DVR part of their service so I have canceled Dish. If DVR is important to you, find some other service.

For those who are reading reviews to help decide if they want to do business with Dish, please don't. They are all good and jolly to sign you up but when it is time to close your account, they are the rudest and most unhelpful beings on earth. The call center is in foreign land and I had to ask several times for them to repeat what they are saying. So, new customers. There is a lot more to the crappy service and I'm not going to waste my time explaining but in a nutshell, Dish is one of the worst companies that I've had to deal with in my 70+ years. On top of them being useless and unable to communicate because of language barriers and them behaving like robots. They won't answer questions and they will hang up on you. I even talked to a manager (probably bullshit and wasn't a manager) and she hung up on me because she wouldn't answer my questions and I asked her multiple times. They are scam artists. Dish is a money grubbing and disreputable company whose employees will lie and deceive you in every way possible. When you leave this disreputable company they will fabricate false charges and try to continue to bleed you for more money. They will attempt to degrade and threaten you with false accusations of owing them more money. The coax line was left mostly uncovered and I was forced to insist more than once that the line was exposed and I could not mow grass in the area until the line was properly buried. Secondly value for the money charged was way out of line for the service. Finally they will attempt to destroy your credit with false accusations of not paying for their services. I will be hopeful that the Dish management will turn this company around and if they continue to discredit their customers, they will find themselves out of business. James A **

I have been a Dish customer for 30 years. I had 4 Joey’s and a DVR I was paying 200 a month. I called because my kids hadn’t watched YV for years and I wanted to cancel 2 Joey’s. One was missing and I was told they couldn’t cancel without the serial number. They also told me they can charge me up to 300 for the missing Joey. I have been paying for insurance all these years but that didn’t matter. After going around and around with a guy probably in an India call center heavy accent I told him the serial numbers from the Joey’s that I was using. So the one missing was the one left. I asked to speak with a manager he said he was and there was nobody higher than him there. If they charge me for Joey I will be canceling. This company has joined the ranks as many American companies. It’s sad. I remember the days of the Charlie chat trying to build their brand. Never again

I was told that if I cancel my service, I had to pay over $400. I have been taken advantage of. They gave the worst quality of picture and they have not been true to their word as far as the other benefits are concerned.

There were pros and cons of our 16 year service run with Dish. Ultimately their pricing is inferior to other streaming services. I’m now saving about 40% having switched to Hulu. Customer service wait times aren’t great but we always got our issues resolved. When they tried to give us something “comparable” to Hulu or YouTube TV we lost many channels that are available on the live plans Hulu offer and most would’ve also been available on YouTube TV. If you have a reliable high speed fiber internet connection, I would advise you to not consider Dish as your primary entertainment provider. You can add other services elsewhere and still save money even without promotional rates.

I spoke with someone who had a strong accent, which made it hard to understand the double-talk. After spending an hour on the phone, I thought everything was resolved. I was told I would not receive another bill since I had just paid my last monthly payment. However, the following week, I received another bill!
I called again, was transferred to three different departments, and ended up speaking with the same person who had the accent. They need to stand up to the channels that they have and stop the ten minute commercials breaks. Every single day they show a movie or show and every ten minutes they have commercials for over 10 minutes and it’s the same thing over and over. We as people pay for TV services over a $100 A month. And for what and half the other channels you have to have internet connection to watch and that means more money. Another 100.00. That’s two hundred bucks a month just to watch TV shows movies. I have been a Dish Network customer for 19 years, and for many years been only subscribing to Polish channels. I have not had any issues with service, until Dish switched service to streaming, because they decomm'ed the 118 deg satellite in April this year. Since about August 14, when they had major firmware update on Hopper 3 receiver, one of the streaming channels stops working every day at about 10am my time zone. I have been calling dish constantly since early September. Dish support has been remotely accessing the Hopper 3 and collecting some basic data, and supposedly opening support cases with other engineering teams. I never got any case # for it.
The problem still exists as of 10/8/2025 on channel 611-02, when I get an error 2008 - Streaming Error. In order to resolve it I have to reboot the Hooper 3. The channel starts to work after reboot. Each time I call Dish, I am being asked what the issue is, even though I tell them it's the same problem with streaming. Dish blames my internet service, where it works perfectly fine, and other streaming channels work fine too, just one channel has issues. They don't even read notes (if they make any) before asking me to describe the issue again. Few days ago Dish raised prices for monthly service from $66 to $74. I am going to cancel service with them after 19 years, as I am tired for their lack of ability, or unwillingness to fix the problem. Dish Net is a service provider of the Polish channels, so they should be responsible to fix the problems. I am extremely dissatisfied with their service.

Oh and you know what we’re gonna give you 200 new free channels to watch. Well you know what I don’t give a rat's ass. You keep raising my rates. And then when I call Customer Service, I’ve got some **. Who’s trying to saying how we should work together and you know it’s always beneficial to be polite and kind to each other when I was in fact, polite.

Dish Network Review – Avoid at All Costs. Total scam. The Video On Demand library is terrible, with most shows missing entire seasons and episodes. Before signing up, we were impressed with the advertised channel lineup and excited about the idea of being able to watch our favorite series on demand and skip through commercials. But once installed, we were shocked to discover that almost every series we wanted had only one or two seasons—and only a handful of episodes available. Half of the channels are filler: infomercials, outdated movies, or things nobody actually watches. The interface is confusing, hard to navigate, and just feels outdated compared to other services.
What makes it worse is the lack of a trial. Dish immediately locks you into a 24-month contract, and canceling after just 10 days would have cost us nearly $480. We called to cancel, but they refused unless we paid the penalty. We came from Hulu, where we paid $89/month for far more content and a simple, user-friendly platform. Now we’re stuck paying $137/month for 2 years on a service that feels useless. Save yourself the regret. Stick with Hulu or another streaming provider. Dish is overpriced, outdated, and misleading.

The channels, etc. are ok, although they have been in what they call a battle to show local baseball Diamond Backs, which supposedly has been so-called going on for years, even though we pay for DISH Sports package. Their answer is it not our problem, basically switch if you don't like it. They continuously slowly increase your bill without any notice. When you call in to ask why it was increased, they give you statements like, it's the cost of doing business and we have to pass it on to someone... My cost just went up to $209 and I have basic plus their sports package and started under $100 and we haven't added anything.
Most of the channels they advertise are useless, of course, this isn't just a DISH problem, except if you don't pay for the useless channels, you don't get the channels most people watch. My overall complaint is they're just so slimy about how they increase your bill; most companies I deal with at least send you a notice they're increasing the bill and the reason; some even give options to not have it increase, NOT DISH. It's only $5-$10 each time, but often and multiply that times the number of customers... If it weren't so difficult to switch over to another streaming etc. I would drop them in a heartbeat. Horrible Customer Service...

Our life situation had changed and now after 2 hours trying to cancel has become you owe us 167.20 for leaving 16 months early from a contract they can’t proved was authorized. Some say we had a “verbal” 4 digit confirmation then when that was shot down it was … no sorry it was a written one. Needless to say there is a reason streaming services will close this type of TV down and they did it to themselves. Do not go with this company as you too will be back sorted and punished when the time comes to part ways. And he said I needed to go on the roof and remove a plastic piece off the satellite and mail it back. I told him I am a 70 year old woman and can't go up on the roof. He told me I will be charged for that part if I'd send it back. What kind of company would ask a 70 year old woman to go on the roof! I will never see them again and I will tell everyone I know about this so they don't use dish.

After several hours of installation, holes drilled in my new Hardie Plank siding for cable and wasting my time, I refused to accept a lower grade service. Dish told me to climb on my roof to remove equipment or face charges and even mailed me a box for gear I said I couldn’t remove. Now I’m stuck with receivers and cords they expect me to dump. It is ironic that Dish dropped NBC Sports Bay Area because they say NBC was charging them too much! The major satellite and 'cable' providers have no shame when it comes to making a buck, fleecing their subscribers. Adding to my frustration with Dish Network is that it is confusing to set up, prone to resets and other oddities.
My recollection of 'Infinity' (also a rate gouger) was there weren't so many disruptive pauses, while the spinning circle of procrastination keeps you on the edge of your seat. 'Joey' sorta works on some recorded shows but not entirely (you still get trailers and bits of network promotions, cut off but still there). I don't like or recommend Dish. Their pricing is arbitrary, customer service so-so and as far as I know, there are no wireless products so you can't save money by bundling TV with cellular service packages.

When I called to cancel, the representative continued to try and continue the service but I had to continually decline several times and advised him I was no longer living in the house and did not need the services. Then he indicated they wanted me to climb up on my roof and remove the LMB box connected to the satellite dish. I advised him I am an elderly woman and I cannot climb up on my roof and if they want it, they would need to send someone out to get it. He then advised they would charge me $100 to send someone out. Once I told him how old I am and could not physically climb up a ladder, he finally waived its return and to only return the Hopper.
Once we finally got to the cancellation, he quickly read a "Disclosure", which I caught they are going to charge me $25 to send me a box to return the hopper in. I told them I had the box the hopper originally came in and did not need to spend $25 for a new box, but he insisted the only way to cancel the service was to send a new box for $25 and if I did not agree to it, he would not cancel the account. This is unbelievable. So in order to cancel the service, I was forced to agree to $25 for a new box. When they finally did cancel it, after long discussions, we were informed that we will be billed for $220 for early termination of a two year contract for a Joey upgrade last year. We informed them that our Joey had quit functioning and that we were given a replacement, not an upgrade. We were told nothing about a 2 yr. contract. After talking to a supervisor (second attempt, as the first call was disconnected), we were told there was nothing they can do. No one mentioned to us about having to pay for the boxes they're sending us with return labels to return the equipment, but as I have read through other reviews here, I am now expecting those charges too.
After 26 years of loyalty, the rude people we talked to and the hidden charges have made us decide to NEVER go back or recommend them to anyone. I was transferred to a supervisor who told me since we were long time customers and seniors that he could lock in a discounted price of 110.46 but I had to agree to a 2 year contract. He assured me that he but notes on the account and that the price was locked in and that I would not see any price increase. That lasted for 1 month. I believe this is complete fraud. Today 7/21 had to call because Dish decided to take out both what I agreed and the rest of the bill. I didn't agree to all at once. Spoke to another supervisor today... Marlon. Very belligerent and argumentative. We talked around 8:15 pm MST for 30 mins. After arguing and talking to me like an idiot and telling me to stop speaking and letting him speak. He said he was the highest up... obviously not, everyone has a boss... so they will refund me the rest in 17 business days. So have to wait weeks for their illegal actions of taking what I did not agree and treating me like that after 9 years. We are talking $168.60 monthly. And that's the amount a multi million dollar company illegally takes out? What?
No customer service. I'm seriously contemplating no more dish... This is ridiculous. Wish 9 years meant something or they could believe customers might be smart too! Here after an up grade after finding out my hopper with all my movies recorded went bad. So now we are having to reset the hopper and Joey’s all the time. Even just changing the channel. Our household remained loyal DISH NETWORK customers for three decades... Was it really necessary to remove the TNT channel from our package RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CLUB WORLD CUP CHAMPIONSHIP?! I understand there are occasional third-party broadcast disputes on the DISH we are purchasing. In the past, we went without CBS for about five months and more recently, NBC for what I believe was close to a YEAR-and-a-half! But to send out a customer letter within literally a weekend of pulling the plug on a channel the customer is paying a package for -- and in the middle of a sports championship -- that only lasts a couple more days. THAT IS THE EPITOME OF CRUMMY TREATMENT OF YOUR CUSTOMERS!
And... please don't blame this TIMING all on the Turner network. I am one customer who will be discontinuing my selection of DISH for my entertainment/sports broadcast in the near future. TO MY DISH NETWORK FBF. Dish network has been deceiving us on our bills. After your billings cycle they are charging you a $12 late fee. Which is understandable. But the deception/lying comes is when they send you a past due interruption correspondence by email/phone they give you 15 days in that correspondence but it's for the entire bill amount instead of the past due amount. They never mention that the customer has only 10 days to pay the past due. As the customer you thinking you got 15 days to pay the past due but in all actuality you only have 10 days and on the 11th day the interrupt your services. Which in in turn they charge you an extra $15 for a re connect and also they take it upon themselves too give you and extension and charge another $15 for days. So your next month bill has went up $30.
Please watch them. I know what most of my friends gonna say. Why not stream. My spouse likes her Local channels with the News and Weather. Plus, mostly those streaming services go out if the weather is bad so it doesn't help. I'm just saying if you don't have streaming services watch your bills because all of these companies are charging you extra and think you not paying attention. BE AWARE OF YOUR LIVELIHOOD. My first payment to Dish, for everything was 35.99. That should tell you how long I've been with this company. They have an entire book on me with problems with their products. On Mon. the 23rd of June at 9p my screen went black. Wonderful, they close at 9p. So I unplugged for 10 to reboot, did nothing. I pushed the button on the front to reboot, nothing. I then went to unplug again and felt a lot of heat from the joey. I went to move it and the top cover came right off. I then picked it up by the side and as I lifted it, pieces fell all over the place. At that point, it's worthless. I then started to contact Dish, and being after 9p only got a computer that didn't do anything it said. I then called the alternate number. I also got a computer that didn't understand, but it put me through to a "live person"! They then would transfer me back to technical help.
The first person, a foreign lady who after hearing the same thing asked, "Is it broke?" After communication problems, I hung up. I called the same number again and got a man who understood English (American English) well. Speaking with him was great. We got the whole way through it and he said it would cost me, I cut him off. "Our plan covers everything." At that point I was finally made aware that it would be shipped to me then I could call back to make another appointment. Every time a receiver went bad Dish brought a new one out and installed it. Because of our plan. AI has done Dish Network, no good. What it has done is make the employees a hell of a lot more confrontational and willing to tell false truths and saying "sorry" for everything. Unfortunately the word "sorry" doesn't really mean anything anymore because of its use for everything. P.S. - I'm not saying "do or don't", you can figure that out on your own. Shouldn't be too hard. 🤷

We signed off on paperwork which we thought was for the purchase and installation. Forward 3 years....We no longer need Dish at this home and when I called to get a disconnect, I was told I would have to pay $370.00 for breaking a contract. CONTRACT!!, how could I possibly still be on a contract with Dish after 20 years. The receiver had died, I believe it was their responsibility to replace it upgraded or not! I paid dearly every month for the service, and can I say the channels I paid for were crap!!! They kept taking good channels away and adding "NOTHING" channels to the 120 plan.
I argued that there was no way I should be charged for breaking a contract, when I was forced to do the upgrade. Not my problem. My receiver was no longer compatible to their system. Well, I got my bill today and sure enough, even with a $94.00 credit I had on my account, I am charged $340.00+. I will be writing to the Public Service Commission with my complaint. The number of commercials is excessive, especially considering the high cost of the subscription and the quality of programming offered. Customer support has also become unreliable. One representative will tell you one thing about pricing or billing, but when the bill arrives, it's often completely different—leading to hours spent on the phone trying to resolve the issue. This time, we had a more serious issue after lightning hit near our house and took out our hopper box. We requested a new box and after an hour of hold time, language barrier instructions and an offer to send a tech out with a new box in 17 days, I opted to have a box sent to me because I am pretty tech-savvy.
The box arrived and it is a refurbished box, 1. And I've been two days now trying to get the thing set up. They didn't send any new cords, BTW. Spent an hour on the phone climbing around back behind the TV to cycle through the inputs on the TV a hundred times before having to switch out the HD cable. Which effectively got a signal from our box to the TV, but has been stuck on the set up screen for 12 hours now. Yes we've tried to reboot. Then we were connected with a woman who wouldn't listen and talked over us and everytime we tried to explain why we had called, she just talked louder. Then we were connected with a man who said, "We can lower your $162 a month bill by $10 but if you want channel 198 you will have to stay with the plan that you have."
