Updated on 06/12/2026: Everything was fine until I cancelled service. They sent a bill that I didn’t think I owed.? Paid it anyway but I didn’t know it reactivated the account. So I had to cancelled it again. I’ve since received 3 more bills. I should not owe anything because I’ve overpaid.
Original Review: Programming was okay. The cost became a problem. I can get a bunch of streaming channels for $50. When you close your account they charge you a months fee.

Cost of Dish is a lot more Directv for the same service. I was direct customer for 15 areso year but decided to go with dish, now very unhappy

If I could could make it negative 10 I would! First off if you have a problem, you can’t talk to to anyone able to address or even try to correct it. I won’t try to convey the ridiculous issues I had with trying to cancel my service. Initially not for any problems but only because my community was converting to a new service. However I was convinced to keep my service in a paused status by a very talented salesperson. Long story short it ended up being a huge/costly mistake. Don’t fall for it. Their BS lies etc. In the end this big company holds all the cards and you’re screwed. Don’t sign up for their BS 2 year contract. Many better options out there. BTW first bad review I’ve ever written if that tells you anything. I’ll just suck up my loss and hopefully save you from the same bad choice. Good Luck!

We were loyal customers for over 30 years. Our remote stopped working, so we called to get a new one. The lady on the phone insisted they can’t send anyone to help us or give us a remote. She talked to us like we were stupid insisting was the batteries or a blocked receiver. She had me on my hands and knees “troubleshooting “. I’m over 50 and have had surgery on my foot, so this was not easy for me. We never got our issue fixed, so we are going to DirecTV, so we can get equipment we can use. If they don’t want to lose more customers, they better train people how to talk to customers.

Moved from an apartment to a house. Had to cancel my account and tried to get Dish at my new place, waited 45 minutes just to be told no, I had to wait 60 days.

They removed our local channels. I called customer service and she tried to sell us an upgrade with the hopper at no cost but had to sign up for the equipment protection so a tech could come out and install the equipment for free. The equipment protection is 12.00 dollars extra a month with the first month free then you had to cancel it if you don't want to pay it. Also had to get into another 2 year contract when we have been customers for a decade. I passed the phone off to my husband and he tried to fix the problem with the service representative on the phone. That did not work so we decided to cancel so she transferred us to another line and the cancellation guy tried to talk my husband into another package. Their sales tactics are too aggressive. Their tactics are removing channels and telling you your equipment is outdated. This is offensive given the fact we have been customers for more than a decade.

The only reason I gave 1 star is because of the dvr. My bill is outrageous going up every month. Customer service and technical support is absolutely horrible. Find a better option. Making payments is normally ok but can be a total headache. Their internet is completely useless.

Dish suspended my service several days after I made a full payment. I have been a Dish customer for over 7 years. When I called them, they apologized for their mistake blaming it on a computer glitch. I was offered several options including a $90 discount for 12 months. I told them I was probably going to cancel my service but I would consider their offer. I called back today to accept their offer and they said it was no longer available. Wow, this is a rinky dink company that will tell you anything to get your money. BUYER BEWARE. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF AND LOCK YOU INTO A CONTRACT AND BASICALLY BLAME IT ON THE COMPUTER. MY RATING IS NEGATIVE 1. DO NOT TRUST DISH!!!

I have been a Dish customer for about a year now after leaving DirecTV. Up until now I have been happy with the service. Our area has been experiencing days of storms and rain. My service worked yesterday in the morning but now it is searching for a signal. I cannot get anything with either the hopper or the remote. I called customer service with no solution. The person that I talked to was patient and a bit demeaning. I have had satellite services for over 25 years and understand the basic troubleshooting. This person talked down to me as though I was an idiot. He had me continuously trying the same troubleshooting steps over and over for 20 minutes. He finally accepted that nothing was working and scheduled an appointment for me. Great except that the appointment is not until over a week away. That is not acceptable as he stated that I reside in an area that does offer much support possibly due to a lack of personnel.

The absolute worst cable I've ever experienced. In the past, Spectrum has been my rock. Now I'm in a mobile home park where Dish is the only choice. Though I'm thankful, as an 84-year-old, to get TV, this company is pathetic. Can you believe they have channels set specifically to advertise Boost Wi-Fi? If Dish is your only choice, enjoy. Otherwise, find a high-quality cable company with A+ ratings.

I WARN YOU TO NEVER SIGN UP FOR DISH SERVICE - Dish is a financial drain system on their customers' accounts. I was a loyal customer for over 10 years until my account kept getting higher and higher each month. My Dish failed to work one night and so I called to get them to fix, and they charged me a high rate to fix. They failed to contract with my ABC Provider and my Local Channels Provider for four months, and when I complained and wanted a discount to my bills, they charged me additional fees. I finally had enough, so I left Dish, and then they charged me over $500 to leave. Dish is a terrible, unfair, and poor company and does not care about their customers! Go anyplace but with Dish! You will be sorry if you sign up with Dish!

Over priced, horrible service, joeys only work sometimes, installation is the worst. Lots and lots of empty promises and confusing billing issues. I say stay far away from these guys!

OMG! I want to scream. Anyone know how I can reach a human being at DISH?!? I have been trying to "chat" for over a half hour and it just keeps telling me my account is closed and do I want to ask another question. So, I canceled my account on March 17th. I was charged full price for my service (112.60) on March 28th. I was charged 65.12 on April 28th. I was charged another 25.74 on April 30 .... WTF?!? I know math is hard but they've charged me a total of $203.46 SINCE I canceled my account. Now, I can't reach a human and AI is blowing me off - anyone have any suggestions besides screaming. I've been Googling for corporates address, but I haven't found anything legit yet.

Terrible, my husband loves to watch METV on sat evenings. For the last 4 weeks all we get is sorry for the interruption of service.. There is no need to call us.....every damn weekend....If this does not stop I am leaving Dish... So tired of it paying them good money every month and I can not even watch the channels I am paying for. It is B.S.

Just switched over from Direct to Dish due to the high price of direct but huge mistake. Custumer service is terrible and installation was terrible. Huge mistake going to dish, very disappointed.

I thought where they say your price is locked in for 2 years it means that is what you pay for 2 years. Apparently not. Such a scam. Will be dropping Dish as soon as the 2 years are up!!

I've been having a lot of problems with my DVR and been very frustrated with no answers and no fixes. One person hung up with us today right in the middle of her checking problems. Then we called again and finally talked with a man named Justin. He went through every single issue. He did not sound like he was just reading a script and just repeating over and over as the others did. He got my equipment working again and even explained why my DVR kept saying it is full when it is not.
I am hoping to hear from Dish soon when the issue is resolved. I can't find anything about the issue anywhere on the Dish sites. If I had not met Justin today, I was going to get out. If Dish cares about their customers they will make sure all their service people know what they are doing. I wish I could give him a great review, but he did not know a way we could do it. He deserves credit for his good work. The service people are humans too, and a little praise can go a long way, especially if you are not paying good wages. I don't know about their wages. Just suspecting. I am not recommending Dish at this time, but if you hire more people like Justin, I will.

I had to call to ask about why my parents' tv could not add streaming services (i.e. Hulu, Paramount+, Disney+). Turns out they needed another piece of equipment. They said it would be covered for the install and the equipment because they had "DISH Protect", AND no additional monthly fees after installed. All this sounds great, right? Nope. If this was going to be installed they would need an additional 24 month commitment. Why? This is absolutely ridiculous that any sort of commitment should be required. I don't understand why, in 2026 (?!?), that this isn't a standard for ALL cable boxes to have this as a standard setup and any additional time is required. Sounds like Dish understands that their product is subpar to all other cable companies. Good luck to you if you're choosing to go with them.

I had to cancel my service because we are moving and are going to be living in our camper. The very next day Dish called and said that if I don't pay my bill they will send me to collections after 1 day. I told them that I was going to pay it in full next week and they said sorry but you canceled so you need to pay it in full. But if you pay $100 now it will stop it from going into collection so I paid a $100. Then they call me the next day and said I have to pay it in full or its going to collection. I will Never use them again and if you're smart you will stay away from horrible company called Dish Network!! Absolutely joke of company. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN!!!

After 6 months, look at the top 200 channels drop down to nothing. You need to buy the internet package to get METV History. You're down to junk channels, Spanish weather, and home shopping. Big waste of money, stay away from this company, rip off big time.

It would be 0 stars if it was allowed. I have literally been fighting with these Dish schmucks for 2 years now. Audio breakups, audio levels, distortion and often total picture losses are all I can say about DISH. I sent a 4-page letter to their CEO about how a rep from their corporate office told me that they could not fix any of this. No return letter was ever sent to me. Not even a form letter came. They have been hiding these problems and more from the media as well as their subscribers. Nobody in the federal government will investigate their immoral business practices either. Things were never this bad 10 years ago. DISH went into the toilet when their current CEO came in from Echostar. Do not subscribe! You will be sorry, just as I have become. They turned me as one of their biggest fans into someone who detests the poor quality of both service and customer support.

I will NEVER have DISH again. Was thinking of cancelling after prepaying for last month. I had a representative in loyalty cancel it for me. Just for saying I may go to DIRECTV. Very rude. Spoke to someone higher up to get it restored. And then he tried to sign me up for Internet. A good example of why customer service overseas horrible. End of 7 year relationship.

I called DISH to ask about how to get HD channels. The guy who helped had an accent and I could barely understand him. When I asked a question I could tell he was reading from a script and was not answering like he was familiar with the topic. I could not get a clear answer and just hung up. I wish they would stop using overseas tech support and have people familiar with the topic.

Don't bother with Dish. I have been a customer for over 7 years. I didn't have a contract and now all the sudden they say I do so stay away, stay away stay away. It's easier to go online than do old ancient services through them. They came out to fix the box and I thought I was signing for the box. They gave me no heads up and said I signed a 2-year contract. I didn't get no money off. I didn't get no extra stuff, no extra channels. Why would I assign it to your contract? They're just **. Don't go there. Don't bother. Get a Vizio and just you can have TV for free. Don't go there. They trick you into contracts you don't even sign. More to come.

I reached out to customer support because I am unable to find a show on "on demand". They wanted me to connect to a technician to troubleshoot. Then they wanted to charge me for the customer service call. I already pay too much for Dish. Why do I need to pay for trouble shooting. Big fail, in my opinion. I will be canceling my account.

I was one month shy of my 2 year contract, I knew I would have a small charge when I canceled my Dish, but small is not the word, I got a bill for 410.00....I had been having problems with my Joey and Dish said they would have to replace it, they sent a guy out, he replaced it, charged me $50., I found out they tacked on 2 years to my contract for changing out their broken equipment. Now they tell me, they will take away the fee if I stay with them, sounds like blackmail to me. Stay away from this company.

Horrible, condescending and rude customer service. It took around 20min and several hoods to cancel. The representative spent at least 5 min Disparaging Spectrum. Avoid DISH! Horrible!
