NEVER SIGN UP FOR DISH SERVICE - Dish is a financial drain system on their customers' accounts. I had to cancel my service with 10 months remaining on a contract which became effective due to my service cancellation request in 2025 because of their greedy rate increases that were exorbitant. They promise anything to get you to agree to keep their service even to saying if I needed to cancel before the contract ended, I could cancel without penalty. Well, the representative stated I would have to pay $200 early cancellation fee. They also charge $50 to mail the boxes to me in order for me to return the hopper & the joey. In addition, we have been without a local channel due to Dish not being able to agree to the cost for them to broadcast CBS. Unfortunate for me, I lost my husband, have recurring health issues, am 83 years old, & live on social security which causes me to have to move to another state to live with my son.

We’ve had DISH Network for 2 months and have lost service twice already. Each time it took days for a technician to get to us. The last time, we were scheduled for a technician, rearranged our schedule on a Sunday morning, received texts letting us know the appointed time and confirmed, only to receive a call delaying their arrival by several hours. I do not recommend Dish Network.

I was told that I would have certain channels when I signed up, but didn't get them. I was told that I would have to upgrade my package. That was just day one with them. Prices kept going up, so I contacted them about trying to get a lower price. They would give me a couple of channels for two months free. I told them I didn't want extra channels, I needed a lower price. They finally offered me $20.00 of my bill from now on if I renewed my contract. This was acceptable with me, so I agreed. My next bill was exactly what they said it would be. The next month it was $10.00 higher, so I contacted them and they said that it was correct. I stated that I was told it would be cheaper, all they said was it is correct.
Next I was looking at their homepage, and it advertised free local channels, where I pay $14.00 a month. I contacted them about this and their reply is that must be for new customers. I stated that it did not say that anywhere in that ad. Their reply was that I had to pay for it. I told them that it was false advertising, all they said was, "Sorry you feel that way". Now I don't get any local channels because they are in a dispute with that provider. I asked why they were still charging me for them then. They offered to take $5.00 of my bill for one month. That was it. Many of my neighbors have the same issue. Do not do business with this company.

DISH is the worst possible TV satellite company. They care more about their shareholders than anything else. After several weeks of channel blackout due to contract disputes, I had enough and switched to DirecTV. Dish gouges the customer for everything...you can't return the equipment to the local office, you have to pay for shipping to some remote locality. Even though they told me when I signed up there was no contract, suddenly, when I cancel their service, there is an early termination fee. So, if I could give this company -5 stars I would...I would never deal with them again under any circumstances and not recommend them to anyone.

Awful customer service We had problems with our receiver. The “tech” call was a waste of an hour. Then I was informed that a tech visit was $95. Note! The problem was with their equipment. The tech visit was a week away. The original tech couldn’t fix the problem so he had a second tech assist him. The replaced the receiver but still couldn’t figure how to turn off the TV. They told me they would be back on Tuesday to fix the issue. Between 8 am and noon. That was 1 1/2 hours ago.
Note! They had to retrieve the old receiver as they forgot to transfer data, like my DVR recordings, to the new receiver. Getting ahold of the techs after they left took another 2 hours. So as of today? Defective receiver and they can’t figure out why the remote won’t turn off the TV and I’m hoping they show up with the old receiver. In any case I’m done with Dish. I’m surprised that the founders of Dish show their faces on TV ads.

I have been a long time customer of dish and today I was told to keep my Netflix I would need to upgrade my hopper, and it will coat me 60 dollars plus I would have to sign a new two year agreement. This is bull shit and just goes to show what dish thinks of their long time customers. At the end of my current contract which won’t be long I will be leaving dish and going to another provider. GOOD BYE DISH.

Like many others, I would rate them zero stars, but I understand that's not possible. I spent 20 minutes trying to close my account with Dish. The representative tried everything to change my mind. After I told him ten times that I wanted to close the account, and then mentioned that I had a witness recording the call, he finally relented. Worst customer service ever.

I have been with Dish for over 20 years and never had a problem till they now took Netflix off my Joey. They want me to upgrade free but a two year contract. I do not want a contract. I'm already in one till Aug 2026. The reason we plan on moving and of course they say I can get it in another state. Well I know what state I'm going to and have people tell me it's horrible in certain areas. So I asked to not sign a new contract till I move and make sure it's going to work there. They will not do it so as of today I lost Netflix. I called again but they will not install new equipment unless I sign contract. I said, "After 20 plus years and never late on Payment and this is how you treat customers." I will be done with them when my contract is up in August. They give nothing to valuable customers so my money can go elsewhere.

If I could give them negative stars I would. Dish network is a ** company. My Mom passes away earlier this month and we cancelled services with them. Instead of being sympathetic they asked us to return their box which we did then charged her acct over $500 for early termination fees. WTH. We explained the situation to them but they told us there was nothing they could do. How about not charge a dead person. I will make sure that everyone I know never uses this company. Inform me about the increase. Nothing. I called them up and asked them why, and I have to speak through supervisor, why they never emailed me to inform me about this. There should be cero stars for companies like Dish. My experience with Dish Network has been incredibly frustrating. It took over 30 minutes and speaking with three different representatives just to explain a simple situation—selling a house and having to close the account. The lack of understanding was astonishing; it felt like explaining something basic to a child.
Three months later, they are still sending bills for issues that no longer exist. Today, we received yet another bill for $300. This is completely unacceptable. I've been on the phone with a lady name Jam who could not be less helpful. I was already charged for not returning equipment, and now I’m being charged again for the same issue. At this point, it feels less like a mistake and more like a pattern. Very disappointing experience. This company is a scam.

After having to call and request lowering my bill for local channels that I am not receiving they said they would give $10 credit. Days later I was going to pay and no credit on bill. Chatted with so called customer service and they said wait 24 hrs and pay credit will be applied. Still no reduction on bill. Chatted again, told me credit would be on next month's bill. I replied the channels were missing this month and was told to wait 24 hrs to pay, not to wait til next month for credit. Told me I could drop local channels from my programming. I guess with this company it's OK to hide behind chat and treat long time customers like that. Dish keeps raising rates and lowering their service. UNACCEPTABLE

Unbelievable. I was a "loyal customer" for 15+ years. They try and swindle you with "the hopper". FYI, as most of you may know, you can buy a big flat screen at Walmart for $200 with free streaming channels and movies on demand installed on it. I was paying $100 a month with DISH, now I pay nothing with more channels! Awwww, DISH doesn't like that, so when I cancelled my service with my account paid in FULL as it always has, they said I still owed a balance of $160 for service and breach of contract, what lies! Everyone, go to Walmart, get a flat screen with FREE streaming service. Another FYI; Both DIRECTV and Dish have lost millions of customers in the last couple years, Google it, go figure. Streaming TV is in!! P.S, Thanks for rear-ended a "loyal customer" DISH.

The operator (Steve) reassured me that I would receive two months of free subscription.
I received a "confirmation" email that offered me only one month. When I called back, the new operator told me that they have never offered two months for free. I told her to listen to our recorded dialogue. She put me on hold. Came back and apologized for the offer given by Steve. But they "would not stand behind the contract made between the Dish operator and I." I don't do business with liars and cheaters. They have no appreciation or loyalty after 35 years. My father in law needed a new receiver. When installing a new TV, we discovered through customer support that his was bad. Tech showed up, decided the wall brackets weren't good enough for his liking. So said that it wouldn't work, but he had one that would. (New TV is a bit bigger but weighs less than the old one, plus the bracket we had is adjustable from medium to large TV) then said tech (Michael) "sold" him a new bracket.
This MW bracket is sold at Walmart for 29.99 plus labor to install. Should take approximately 30 minutes if you're mechanically inclined. He charged the $255.00. Most likely because they have Dish Protect and weren't going to get charged anything for the service call. I'm sure these techs get a commission on anything they sell a customer. So a 72 year old on a fixed income gets fleeced by Dish TV once again. He already pays 200 a month for service. Once again a big company screws over customers and can't figure out why their rating sucks.

I was on the phone two hours with three different representatives, as I kept getting disconnected, and the problem only got worse. We were told that they couldn't get anyone out until one week later, and we would have to pay for the service. We have paid for repair service since we started Dish. This was totally unacceptable, and we decided to cancel Dish.
I called them back to cancel Dish. They connected me to a person in Dallas, and she said she would get someone out in two days, which would be Saturday,. They were supposed to be here between 8 and 12 am. At noon, I checked My Dish App, and the appointment was not changed, and we will have no service for another one week. Get the ** bill paid before the month is up. Then they take a payment without our permission. Putting our check and account in the hole. A negative one hundred and fifty-three dollars, which they never apologized for and never credited me back.
Then, they turn my cable off, and I complain about it. So they turn it back on, then they claim that my bill is now six hundred dollars. I have to pay it, which I just paid 262 this month and just still claims I owe them another hundred sixty-two dollars this month, which we paid 425.00 so I freaky canceled our service. I am writing to express my strong dissatisfaction with DISH Network and its failure to reach an agreement to carry local broadcast channels in my area. As a paying customer, I expect reliable access to programming—especially local channels that provide essential news, weather alerts, sports, and community information. The ongoing dispute between DISH and companies such as Gray Television has resulted in the removal of these channels, leaving customers like me without services we continue to pay for. This situation is unacceptable. Local channels are not a luxury—they are a fundamental part of any television service. By allowing this dispute to drag on, DISH is prioritizing corporate negotiations over the needs of its customers.

Have had DISH for over 5 years now. Used to be very impressed. However, in the last 20 months or so, we were required to move to Hopper Plus in order to get ESPN-based streaming, and have dealt with multiple issues with that, including a complete change of our Guide function, which DISH blames on Google. Now we've lost our local ABC station, which is our only provider of local news (neither CBS nor NBC have local news programming, plus they are both Sinclair-owned, therefore NOT an unbiased source of news) and DISH & Gray (owner of WCJB) are claiming the other is making unreasonable demands for contract renewal. A reason for having DISH is to have access to our local channels & ability to record shows. ABC is also a network where NCAA sports are broadcast. This issue means we lose that access as well. If we don't get ABC back, our opinion is that DISH has defaulted on their contract with us.

Once we realized the lie, we contacted the company. They didn't care and kept passing me from agent to agent because I didn't want to accept their solution. Their solution was to pay more money and maintain the fraudantly optained 2 year contract. I told them that was a bad decision, as I would now be an unhappy customer sharing my negative opinion of lying and holding me to a contract based on their lie. They didn't care. I called them again and they said they would take me off and keep my bill at same amount. My bill recently went up again, and when I called them to cancel my service because I was lied to. I found out I was on a contract and it would cost me $280 to cancel. I have been lied to so many times I lost count. I just bit the bullet and canceled. Be aware of Dish.

My dad was a Dish Network user for many years before he passed away in Oct. Now in Feb, I got bill after we received a refund check which wasn't cashed. They couldn't stop payment. They needed me to fix their mistake by sending them more money. If it takes 4 months to fix an account billing on someone who has died, what kind of CS is that. You shouldn't have to deal with an account that you closed 4 months ago and also it shouldn't take that long for the refund. DISH should have taken care of it. We always paid ahead. But they did not consider their customer that much. Do not go with Dish. There are cheaper and better options with GOOD customer service. FURIOUS about having to deal with this 4 months after account was closed!

I mean this is just crazy and I don’t understand why a person would have to pay $400 to cancel the service that’s not even working in the first place customer service person on the phone was completely out of line and would not let me get a word in edgewise… 2 YEAR TELEVISION CONTRACTS. Leave them, go to their competition and then they will want you back, and give you a better price again. I don't know why I didn't do that this time. I signed up for 2 years which would end this year in a couple months. I wanted to quit last year but they said I would be held accountable for the last year. So the lady said she would cut my bill in half and that the hopper I had because I owned it was out of date because my uncle had it since 2012 and she would send me a free Hopper because I was eligible for it. That was up to date and someone would come and install it for free. I agreed. Little did I know that because I got that Hopper installed and trust and believe I was talking the whole time she mumbled something and I don't know what but I didn't agree and she asked me. Was I okay with the technician coming out? I said yes. I was agreeing to a contract for two more years.
She scammed me. I didn't know about this until I called today to cancel my services because my contract for the original 2 years was up or about to be in a couple months and they told me no that I was signed up for two more years because last year I got equipment and was signed up for another 2-year contract. They put a collection on my credit report because I am deathly afraid of unplugging electronics. I've asked for assistance on several occasions, and nothing. They just said they'll send me a box and follow the directions. The directions wants me to take stuff off the side of my home as well as the satellite, and I'm not comfortable with doing so. I know the company can send a representative out to retrieve their equipment. As a consumer, if I'm renting something and I damage it, I'm liable. With my anxiety, dealing with electronics is already through the roof and knowing I could possibly damage their equipment, I wasn't taking that chance. Dish Network can call the creditor and get this removed, and they're giving some excuse about they can't. (they most definitely can) The law states they can, and they choose not to!
If I am going to have a bad rating on my credit report because they won't come get their equipment, knowing my reservation. We're going to court because after 7 years, the hopper would be paid for 7 times over. Dish Network also knows I can request a tech to come retrieve their equipment if I'm not comfortable doing so. It even states they frown upon it because of costs. They didn't care I had to bury my satellite line 2X because both technicians got lazy and didn't bury them to specs. They also destroyed my yard and I took pictures of it and emailed it to them. I didn't get a response for that either. We decided to part ways with Dish because my bill went up to $200 a month and we were watching 1980's reruns constantly. I will never refer this company to anyone. Anxiously waited to arrival and started to try understand the install since the offer includes professional installation but not, he-he, in Hawaii. Nonetheless I called Starlink to get some help and was treated very poorly by the support rep who hung up on me. I called again only to find that I had not paid the $300 activation fee!! I have had nothing but problems for the last 9 month service going in and out, when you call they ship you overseas to a non English speaking representative that doesn't have clue what's going on, if lucky they only takes 25-30 min, then you ask for a representative from the actual country you live in that's anywhere between another 45 min to an hr wait, then they have the audacity to not have clue what's going w account. You have to explain all the issues going on which is long list.
Customer service horrible, they try to diagnose everything over the phone which usually works for a day or two if you're lucky, they refuse to send out a technician to come repair. They expect homeowner to repair themselves, they send out new equipment except customer to be able to repair or replace the issue. After that they want you to send back the old equipment if you can do their repairs, if you don't they charge the customer a 100$, just a criminal racket, so if you looking for T.V. service I would suggest look anywhere except Dish Network.

When I told them we could get the same services with another company at about $30/month less, they informed me of my cancellation fee of $320.00. I was told this was for the Hopper 2 and Joey upgrade we got back in April of 2025. The irony is the equipment didn't work as advertised. The technician who came out ended up unplugging the Hopper upgrade. So now, because I won't renew our contract I get billed $320.00 for equipment you unplugged because it wasn't working. No wonder why Dish lost over half a million customers this year alone. Time wasting and customer service is no help. This is the WALMART of cable companies.

Been a long time customer and the monthly cost just keeps going up. You have to call in every two years and when you do they try to get you to change programming and they get you into another contract for two more years. I called to cancel and they tried everything to not let me do so. Then in the end of the conversation he said that I had to climb up on the roof to get my knob on my satellites and return it or I would be charged up to $300. I told him that there is no way for me to climb a ladder up to my two story house and get anything. He said to hire an Electrician at my cost of course. So don’t start with them or you are stuck with them and they don’t do anything to help you with the returning of their equipment!! My bill got up to $190/month.

I have been a customer for years. My remote went out three months ago. I had to call, and they said I would need to get another one, since the troubleshooting we did on the remote did not work. It took six days for the new remote to arrive…. Here we are three months later, and the new remote we waited six days to get, has gone bad too. We called, and they said we would have to get another remote, and it would take another six days to arrive, or we could pay $20 to overnight it. I told him we just got this remote three months ago…
And here we are with a bad remote again? And we have to wait another six days to get another remote? I asked him if these remotes are refurbished, and he said yes. So I said why should we have to pay $20 to have it overnighted when it could go out within a week, a month, or three months? He said we could just use our phones as remotes. He then asked if we were interested in some other services? Of course we are not. Nothing against the man we spoke to. I just cannot understand why it takes six days to get a new remote? They should overnight them period. We will be looking for a better cable company.

I’ve been a DISH customer for over 20 years, and the way they handled my recent issue is the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had. DISH’s own equipment suddenly locked me out of years of recordings stored on a DISH-supported external USB drive. This drive was purchased because DISH promoted that feature, and it has never been used with any other receiver or account. One day it simply stopped working, claiming it was “configured for another account”—which is impossible. This is clearly a DISH system or authentication error, not anything I did.
When I contacted DISH, the first representative said the issue would be escalated to engineering. Three months passed with zero follow-up. When I called again, the next representative avoided escalation entirely, offered no solutions, and kept repeating, “We’re still providing you service,” as if losing years of paid-for recordings didn’t matter. DISH’s A+ BBB rating exists only because they respond to complaints—not because they resolve them. Their real performance is reflected in their 1.11/5 customer review score with nearly a thousand reviews, which is a much more accurate measure of how they treat customers.
Their final answer to me? A $50 credit for the permanent loss of content I paid them to allow me to record. They refused to investigate the error, refused to restore access, and refused to offer meaningful compensation. They even claimed DISH “does not support hard drives,” despite having long advertised and documented external USB recording as a feature. In short: DISH broke a feature they sold, denied responsibility, and dismissed a long-time customer with a token credit. It’s clear they no longer value customers, their loyalty, or the integrity of the services they advertise. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. If DISH’s equipment fails, you’ll be left on your own.

I have not had any issues with service, until Dish switched service to streaming, because they decomm'ed the 118 deg satellite in April this year. Since about August 14, when they had major firmware update on Hopper 3 receiver, one of the streaming channels stops working every day at about 10am my time zone. I have been calling dish constantly since early September. Dish support has been remotely accessing the Hopper 3 and collecting some basic data, and supposedly opening support cases with other engineering teams. I never got any case # for it.
The problem still exists as of 10/8/2025 on channel 611-02, when I get an error 2008 - Streaming Error. In order to resolve it I have to reboot the Hooper 3. The channel starts to work after reboot. Each time I call Dish, I am being asked what the issue is, even though I tell them it's the same problem with streaming. Dish blames my internet service, where it works perfectly fine, and other streaming channels work fine too, just one channel has issues. They don't even read notes (if they make any) before asking me to describe the issue again. Few days ago Dish raised prices for monthly service from $66 to $74. I am going to cancel service with them after 19 years, as I am tired for their lack of ability, or unwillingness to fix the problem. Before signing up, we were impressed with the advertised channel lineup and excited about the idea of being able to watch our favorite series on demand and skip through commercials. But once installed, we were shocked to discover that almost every series we wanted had only one or two seasons—and only a handful of episodes available. Half of the channels are filler: infomercials, outdated movies, or things nobody actually watches. The interface is confusing, hard to navigate, and just feels outdated compared to other services.
What makes it worse is the lack of a trial. Dish immediately locks you into a 24-month contract, and canceling after just 10 days would have cost us nearly $480. We called to cancel, but they refused unless we paid the penalty. We came from Hulu, where we paid $89/month for far more content and a simple, user-friendly platform. Now we’re stuck paying $137/month for 2 years on a service that feels useless. Save yourself the regret. Stick with Hulu or another streaming provider. Dish is overpriced, outdated, and misleading.

My overall complaint is they're just so slimy about how they increase your bill; most companies I deal with at least send you a notice they're increasing the bill and the reason; some even give options to not have it increase, NOT DISH. It's only $5-$10 each time, but often and multiply that times the number of customers... If it weren't so difficult to switch over to another streaming etc. I would drop them in a heartbeat. Horrible Customer Service...

If I could give 0 stars sadly I would, 25 years, 25 years of being a customer gets you nowhere. They can’t “prove“ you have a contract when you want to cancel service. We have paid in time and been a loyal customer for 25 years. Our life situation had changed and now after 2 hours trying to cancel has become you owe us 167.20 for leaving 16 months early from a contract they can’t proved was authorized. Some say we had a “verbal” 4 digit confirmation then when that was shot down it was … no sorry it was a written one. Needless to say there is a reason streaming services will close this type of TV down and they did it to themselves. Do not go with this company as you too will be back sorted and punished when the time comes to part ways. Oh and the true kicker is you have to pay for the box to return the equipment you have been “renting“ so add another $25 bucks to the $169.20.

He called 30 minutes prior and upon arrival was stellar in his customer service and knowledge. Ricardo asked me about the issue and looked at the main TV and equipment. Ricardo then looked outside at the Dish and transponders and told me he recognized an issue immediately. Ricardo installed a new splitter in a better location, adjusted the Dish and tightened everything. He utilized new cables as well. After that he checked the TV statistics and make internal adjustments on all TVs and bingo we has a much stronger signal and TV at all three units. A great value and top notch quality. Ricardo should be training all technicians as his knowledge base and ability to troubleshoot and explain the issue were phenomenal. Highly recommended!

I was told we had one free movie to watch a month on Dish Demand as long as it was a 6.99 movie and they charged us for each movie anyways. My son had medical problems which made me absent for work and I got behind on the bill and got it caught up just for them to shut my cable off and tell me I still owe $186. When a month before I called Dish and got channels removed to lower my bill and paid my monthly bill just for them to still try to charge more and shut my cable off. The major satellite and 'cable' providers have no shame when it comes to making a buck, fleecing their subscribers. Adding to my frustration with Dish Network is that it is confusing to set up, prone to resets and other oddities.
My recollection of 'Infinity' (also a rate gouger) was there weren't so many disruptive pauses, while the spinning circle of procrastination keeps you on the edge of your seat. 'Joey' sorta works on some recorded shows but not entirely (you still get trailers and bits of network promotions, cut off but still there). I don't like or recommend Dish. Then he indicated they wanted me to climb up on my roof and remove the LMB box connected to the satellite dish. I advised him I am an elderly woman and I cannot climb up on my roof and if they want it, they would need to send someone out to get it. He then advised they would charge me $100 to send someone out. Once I told him how old I am and could not physically climb up a ladder, he finally waived its return and to only return the Hopper.
Once we finally got to the cancellation, he quickly read a "Disclosure", which I caught they are going to charge me $25 to send me a box to return the hopper in. I told them I had the box the hopper originally came in and did not need to spend $25 for a new box, but he insisted the only way to cancel the service was to send a new box for $25 and if I did not agree to it, he would not cancel the account. This is unbelievable. So in order to cancel the service, I was forced to agree to $25 for a new box.
