Fox News is an important part of my daily life. When I called Dish to complain they offered a five dollar discount for six months! What a joke. It is bad enough that they force me to buy 250 channel - 240 of which I never watch just to get the few that matter to me. Bring back Fox or I am gone.

I have been a customer of DISH long enough that I am no longer under contract. When I signed up with DISH, CBS and FOX were part of their channel lineup. That is not the case now, yet my monthly rate is still the same. A good percentage of what I watch was on those channels. DISH needs to find a way to get these channels back soon, or lose a long-term customer.

First CNN and now Fox News. DISH Network removes Fox News and blames Fox for it?!? That’s shameful! Unconscionable! Unethical! (Bleep) Poor for those of us where one of the primary reasons for signing up with DISH in the first place was that they had Fox News. Well, that can be remedied. There are a number of other good alternatives where you don’t have to suffer with DISH’s on-again/off-again programming, and fight with them over their 20% to 25% annual fee increases, and where their program guides at least have the correct program, and where their equipment doesn’t crash, burn and have to be replaced every year or so.

And while we’re at it, here’s what you get (aka don’t get) for DISH’s 200+ channel “TV” package. Our “My Channel” guide has 479 listings. Oooh! That sounds like a lot! Well, take a look… Sirius/CD/radio - not TV 135 listings/channels, VOD/Movie - extra $$ 101, Sports - extra $$ 68, Shopping 26, Adult ** - extra $$ 22, Spanish 17, DISH programming notices 10, Duplicates: 20 or so. Total 399. That leaves 80 channels to select from - the vast majority of which are of virtually no interest to us. Oh, yes. DISH does offer special teaser programs every now and then like the Hallmark Channel. But, of course, you have to BUY them for extra $$ if you want to keep them. Well, if DISH wants to talk about buying, here’s one for them. BYE DISH! We’re sick and tired of dealing with a low-class operation like you.

I pay $111 per month for the Dish package that gave me the channels I want to watch and MANY that I do not want to see. They have chosen to remove the channels I WANT, and give me recommendations for other channels I can watch instead. If I had wanted to see the other programs, I would have watched them instead of Fox. Been a Dish customer for 8 years. We live in a rural area and the only other provider here is DirecTV. Not a good option, but at least Fox is on DirecTV! I e-mailed Dish when they took Fox off. Asked them if this blackout was financial or political! We got a long-winded excuse of an e-mail back blaming Fox for the outage but offering us a $5 credit for 6 months. I am suspicious of that because every time they offer us something "free" it comes with a hike in the rates!
There are at most 10 channels we watch on our 200 channel programming. Fox News and Fox Business are 2 of the 10. The remaining 190 channels are crap.

We get our news from Fox and only Fox. If Fox isn't back on next week, we start our switch to DirecTV.

We live on an island off the coast of Maine. The only possible way to receive subscriber TV is via satellite feed. We have been satisfied Dish customers for many years. But, out of a roster of useless "info and entertainment" channels, Fox news channels are pretty much the only thing we watch. Without those options, Dish is worthless to us.

It is not a small matter for us, on an island accessible only by ferry or private boat, to switch to DirecTV. It takes forever just to set up an appointment, and often it takes 4 or 5 appointments before a technician actually shows up. (not to mention the huge up-charge for coming to an island.) If this dispute isn't settled, we are probably looking at a month and many $$$ before we could be connected to DirecTV. Rather just see it back on our Dish guide again!!!! Soon!!!

Without warning, FOX News disappeared from Dish. I want a 50% reduction in the charges, or we will drop Dish and go with one of the several other alternatives. I don't expect an 'early termination' fee, either. If I'm not getting what I am paying for, let's call it quits. I am so tired of paying for all the ridiculous programming that we have NO interest in -- and then they remove half of the only programming we care about.

I received an automated call from Dish that stated I had to return rented equipment in a timely manner or my credit card would be charged. There should be no reason for me to return equipment! Even though I have two receivers, both work fine and I never generated a service call or a transaction that would warrant me to return anything. The first tech I spoke with said it was just a "disclaimer call" and should be disregarded. After pleading with her to look further because the message was very specific, she agreed an error had been made. I asked to be transferred to a manager in the U.S. which took 20 min. Amanda (manager in US) also agreed that an agent made an error and that she was going to forward some sort of letter or memo to the powers that be that would correct the problem. This she stated would take 72 hours. I received another automated message from Dish again looking for equipment. Called Dish again and spoke with Juana. She said the efforts Amanda put forth never went through. Great. Juana stated that she would put it through to the appropriate investigatory party for their review and action. She couldn't tell me who the party/ies or department was only that it would take until Friday before I find out if anything has been settled.

In the mean time, Dish can charge my credit card for equipment I am not responsible for. As sophisticated as Dish is, you'd think this type of problem would be an easy fix. I guess not. I'm not only very concerned. I am very disappointed. Also if I had known that Dish could change the programming I am signed up for without giving me the option switch providers, I would have chosen a different provider.

It seems the Dish way is to battle every broadcast negotiation using the paying subscribers as leverage but these always end in the loss of channels. If that's the M.O. then Dish needs to switch from a package billing system to an a la carte style such that the costs incurred for a blacked out channel should be easily quantified and reversed or in the case of extended outages, not billed in the next billing period. Saying to us that there is no way to calculate the cost for the lost channels in criminal when factoring in the 14 million claimed subscriber base. There needs to be a better system. Basically, if we can't watch the channel then my bill should be reduced to reflect the channel's absence. Dish shouldn't be allowed to collect for blacked out channels.

Knowing that within weeks I will probably have it back may seem silly to some that I would switch my provider but the only way as a consumer I see to prove my point is with my money. With the games they just played using the customer as the chess piece with CNN and CBS I am not willing to play it anymore. Dish, say goodbye to my monthly bill!

In fairness, let’s assume Dish is negotiating in good faith for its customers to keep rates down. However, I do not agree with their process. It is the customer that bears the burden, not Dish. I pay for a service and that service is no longer available; Dish still continues to be paid. The negotiations should have occurred long before the contract expired. Since Dish was not successful in reaching terms, one can assume a lengthy delay before settlement is reached. This form of brinksmanship is the same flawed process that Congress uses; we the people end up paying the price as the fat cats get richer.

I am giving Dish until the end of the year to resolve the contract dispute. Since there is considerable work to remove a programming service and substitute another, those customers that leave will not be back anytime soon. Dish needs to weigh the cost of lost customers vis-a-vis its profit margin and make a determination of how much it is willing to reduce earnings per share. Unfortunately, Fox is in the driver's seat since there are other service providers to choose from. Let's hope for a solution where Dish and Fox can forego some of their greed in favor of the customer getting a fair deal. It's bad enough that 60% or more of the programming is reruns and that we are paying to watch commercials.

I wish more people would side with me in that I believe Fox would be foolish if they pull away from Dish. Fox has a very healthy share of the Cable News followers and if the several million that are (were) viewing them thru Dish Network decide to stick with Dish, Fox stands to be the Biggest Loser in the game. Fox is a much bigger multifaceted conglomerate and is throwing its weight around much like the Government. They have had it out for Dish since the DVR law suit a while back. In July 2013, I signed up for Dish Network. BIG MISTAKE. In November 2013, the ex-boyfriend and I split and we both moved out of the house. I called Dish and wanted to cancel my service. First of all, if I said I wanted to CANCEL my service, NO I do not want to move it, NO, the house I'm in now has DirecTV. The guy I spoke with could barely speak English and I could hardly understand a word he was saying. He told me that my ETF was $700. Wow. There's no way I was paying that. So he convinced me to continue to pay the $80 a month I was paying until the ETF gets lower. Fine. I was paying for service in a house that NO ONE lived in for almost a year.

October of this year, I was laid off from my job. Not being able to afford the bill, I called and asked if I could pause my account. The guy I spoke with said it was no problem and we went with that. A week ago, I received a phone call from Dish stating they were canceling my service, and I needed to send back the equipment and pay the ETF... Wait, what!? So I wanna know what my $5 pause fee was paying for if they turn around and cancel my account? They stated that if I do not pay the ETF or send back the equipment they will charge my card on file. Well good luck Dish, because I'm still laid off, and I canceled the card on file. I'll send back the equipment with no problem, but I'll pay the ETF monthly, and on my own terms. Dish has given me nothing but a hard time since day 1, and I wouldn't even refer my worst enemy to their service.

I had a 19-minute conversation I had with Matt on 10-23-14, the supposedly record these conversations "for QUALITY ASSURANCE" stated at the beginning of every call. I happened to get the agents permission to record it and glad I did: 9-24 install, 9-26 gave dish my credit card (nothing said about the $5 + change not going through for the initial payment which was to come out of savings NOT Checking) could have been corrected easily at this point. 10-2-14 @ 10 pm my mother stated she received a phone call that she would be disconnected unless she pays $75 + change. 10-3-14 I call in paid $49.74 (this was the $75 + a credit of $25 for 1/2 my mothers NSF fees), which the NSF fees were actually $50. 10-23-14 I call in and was not allowed to talk to loyalty dept. UNLESS I PAID the $130.76 (similar to blackmail in my opinion).

Oct was supposed to ORIGINALLY be free (we ended up having to pay in advance for with the above. $49.74). We then paid the $130.76 on Oct 23, just to get to the escalation dept. & talk to Matt. Thus OVER $179 was paid to Dish for LESS than 30 days of service! This is where it got switched into a new account so they could reverse the charges & issue the credits. Matt in Escalation dept. & I discussed the breakdown of the bill he said $55 a month, and I verified the 35 dollar discount with the $55 monthly fee. He said yes. We then discussed that she was also to receive the protection plan FREE for 6 months & he put me on hold, verified she gets that free for 6 months (he at that point mentions that the bill without that is $48.99), I asked about her 3 month free premium channels, put on hold he verifies yes 3 month premium channels to auto disconnect after the 3 months.

Think of it this way would you pay $179 for 30 days of DISH? Probably not, by restarting her with the normal new customer discount did not make her whole (due to your errors) the additional $35 was to correct the $179 that should have NEVER been charged. We were told this is why we were getting the additional $35 discount on top of the new customer price. IF dish would have done as I suggested by making Nov free, Dec Free, Jan Free and a partial payment in Feb due to the remaining credit this wouldn't have been so confusing. BUT Dish stated they wanted to spread the discount over the 1 yr. As I mentioned to Matt (and got his approval to record because of) I play the tape for my 81 yr. old mother so she can hear what happened for herself, this way information is NOT misinterpreted by me repeating what someone else has said. In this case I am extremely happy I did record it. But now they are stating it is $56 and change per month, no reimbursements, this is the 2nd time since late Sept I had talked to the president’s office.

After several automated phone calls saying I was past due on my account I was told by Dish the past due amount was on my internet service. Most recently you acted to eliminate Fox News. I believe we have reached a breaking point with you. As soon as we can we will be discontinuing service with you. We live in a rural area where DSL was our only option for Internet until recently. We bought DISH internet with full assurances of truly high speed communications. The installer came and installed a new dish (separate from our DISH TV equipment) and left without demonstrating that it worked at all, it didn't perform at anything that resembles acceptable slower than the DSL line. After three days of no one returning calls to the installer's number we contacted DISH support. The representative tested the line, saw that it was totally unacceptable and made a service call. The tech came out the next day and without checking anything told us that DISH internet would not work in our area, his own test equipment would not work. He told us we had to contact DISH to cancel our subscription.

When we called to cancel we were told that there would be a cancellation fee equal to a portion of what would have been billed for next two years, they would not come get their equipment and we needed to ship back a portion of it ourselves. After a lot of frustration and contact with their higher ups they finally cancelled the internet without additional billing. We still had to hire someone to remove the dish from the roof of our home and ship back the equipment they wanted, we have to personally dispose of the portion they didn't want. DISH is already not on our nice list, we pay for a service that included FOX news and will start to evaluate our options.

They dropped Turner first which I enjoyed TMC and now Fox News. As a "Truman Conservative" I now have no place in TV news! Once in awhile I view CNN but I am put off by their liberal slant. Fox News appears more conservative than it is in actuality because MSNBC & CNN are so liberal. Also the tech support of Dish is laughable. When you call in, they outsource to the Philippines, the first question they ask even in July "is there snow blocking your dish?" and it goes downhill from there. We live in a rural area and only our TracFone works from home so we pay every minute of a trouble call. Also their search engine reminds of MSDOS, if you don't get everything precise it goes blank. Whereas Direct TV (which we had for several years) search engine is like Amazon i.e. if you're close it'll give you plenty of choices along with "if you enjoyed this what about these." It also will give you a search for actors, etc.

I must applaud Dish Network for their stance with Fox, Turner, CBS & any other content provider. What few people realize (by the pro Fox shill comments) is that when these content providers raise their rates to service providers, that rate increase is passed on to the consumer. I don't believe all of these complaints are actually from consumers as most legitimate commentators would understand this. If the price of tomatoes goes up in every store, you don't blame the grocers because they know to keep their prices as low as possible else you'd shop elsewhere. Same thing for ANY service provider of ANY service. This battle between Dish & Fox is no different than DirecTV's battle with The Weather Channel or CBS or the countless other disputes they had with content providers.

The content providers know if they win against 1 service provider & raise their rates they will eventually win over the rest & eventually cause other service providers to also raise their rates. A 1 or 2 penny increase per subscriber may not sound like much until you multiply it by 14+ MILLION subscribers. And if Fox is allowed to raise their rates, all the other content providers will follow suit & raise theirs which in turn forces the service providers (like Dish or DirecTV) to raise their rates. Meanwhile the content providers that are also service providers (like Comcast) are not going to raise the rates they charge themselves now are they? So the next time you stand with a content provider, don't open your bill & complain about your service providers (like Dish OR DirecTV) raising their prices.

    1. If there is a cloud in the sky, God forbid it rains or snows....no service!

    2. Every day the receivers shut down to update programming. As you can imagine it only happens when you are watching something. Oh, and you can say "no", but then the programming schedule will lose information and become inaccurate. EVERY DAY!

    3. My son switches sources on the TV from XBOX360 to HDMI 1 for Dish, no picture. I go through the obvious troubleshooting...it's the box. I tried another TV, different cable, it's the box. After arguing with the ** on the support line, they "have to send a tech" which I have to be home for....I work 45 miles from home. He confirms my conclusion, sighs about them wasting his time, and gives me a new box. Then he mentions how they send boxes to 85 year old people who require his help anyway.

    4. When I called to cancel the first time, I got bounced to 4 different people. It ended with "the presidents" whatever...who gives a crap, who pulls all kinds of BS out of a hat to give me discounts to get me to stay. This ends with me conceding to "suspending" the service just to GET OFF OF THE PHONE!

    5. A month passes, I call to CANCEL this time, and the lady on the phone who BARELY speaks English tries to re-instate my service! I say "NO! CANCEL, END, TERMINATE!" "Oh" she says. Then she wants to know about the new service...I said, "It's none of your business! Cancel my Dish account!"

And the best part....Now, I will own the $20 pro-rated early termination fee, which for me meant $140. I knew about the early term fee...but... What they do NOT tell you is that they want you to pay $17 a package for each receiver to send them back!

To summarize...Unreliable product, combative reluctant service, hidden costs not revealed until the end and the worst part ... THEY LIE!! The claims they make about their service are **!! It was easier and cheaper to get divorced, than to terminate a contract with Dish Network. If this is the path you choose, good luck...you've been warned.

Like fictional stories of Satan or Vampires, you invite these Satellite Internet providers into your home. You sign a contract of ludicrous arrangements, willingly.

With that disclaimer said, I will continue with how horrible this technology is... For something that's been around since the 50s, readily available as access to the internet since its inception during the late 1990s and early 2000s, it's advanced at the rate of say Fossil fuels. Horribly.

Sticking with performance issues, latency is your major issue. I check this nightly and very regularly average 800-1000ms... This alone, regardless of which satellite internet provider you use, or which package you purchase. Yes even the very best package you will suffer from this issue. Currently, I have the very best package from DishNET, which basically translates to data USAGE per month. Period. They convolute the details with Anytime Gigabytes & Bonus Gigabytes to confuse people or make it sound like you are getting more from the goodness of their hearts, but you are very much not.

Prepare to have "broadband" "high speed" internet access of 1996, with less than 1mb upload/download speeds.. Oh yes, even with the scam they offer of improved hardware and forcing even customers that have 1-2 yr old equipment into "upgrading", only to receive the exact same hardware, you will still encounter rain/snow fade, signal loss & however it is even remotely possible... a decrease in performance.. This equipment scam is probably the primary reason they are even still in business financially.

Wait, it gets better, when you run out of data allowance for the month, you are throttled to a virtually non-usable internet access reminiscent of early 1990s 300 baud "screamer" days... So to sum up the performance, even with the very best and ** insane costs associated with this "service", you can not game. Period. Nothing more disheartening than listening to a 6-yr old complain that his PBS kids links fail to load or take forever to load, or the grumbling frustrations of a wife trying to crush candy. Even with only 1 person online at a time, you are barely able to load basic webpages without the anger swelling enough to even scare the Hulk, but you're forced to enable basic versions of many common websites so you do not waste your entire night or morning doing fundamental things.

With the craze of social media sites, it only boggles me further how these companies are still in business. Auto loading video clips and streaming ads, wow, remember we asked for this "service" and pay for it. Throw in updates for your favorite software packages/games, OS updates, anti-virus updates, throw in basic email use, random web sites hit each day and many times you will be offline before the middle of the month. Spend 2 months downloading the average game from an online gaming service and you will quickly find yourself on the phone with your satellite internet company learning ALL about the details of your contract and how you can't cancel your service without paying an insane 400-600+$ early cancellation fee.

I'm telling you right now, it's worth it, save yourself 2 years of frustration, pay the early disconnect charge, consider this a valuable life learning lesson, tell all your friends, family & co-workers and yourself a favor and if you absolutely can not get cable or DSL internet, call your local tel-co and order good ole fashioned dial-up internet. At least your latency will be 100-200ms and your at least guaranteed 56kbit/s ALL MONTH for like 9.99$/month!!! I know right?! Who'd a thunk?! Suddenly your kid can load children learning webpages without throwing a fit, your wife can crush candy without throwing things without breaking the bank. Don't forget all those holes drilled in the outside of your home from 2-4 different satellite dishes, err upgrades.. ;)

I'm not even going to comment on these companies customer service, ethics or policies, because as I opened with, we the consumers call them, we ask for this "service", we sign the contracts and we pay them... How do we stop this? Like many aspects of our lives, we can vote with our money. Stop paying for this and eventually it will go away... Spread the word.

Have been with Dish network for 4 - 5 years. A year or so after our contract was up, I got a hold of them to see if we could possibly get a new system. They say sure just need to sign a new contract but no good pricing schedule. Have to pay full price. I say forget it we're going to DirecTV. So they send me to account specialist. They say great news we can get you all new systems for free. No commitments! I say sounds good but I want paper billing. Sure sure! We get the new system and at the end tech asked to sign for equipment and 2-year contract. So I sign for equipment but say there's no way I'm signing a contract.

So after 10 months of calling them every month due to not receiving monthly paper bills and continuous late fees, I've had enough! So I call to cancel. After talking to 4 different people telling me that I signed a contract and me going ape ** saying there's no way in hell, come to find out that there's an X on the Contract. Are you ** kidding me! So an X is my signature now! Pretty sure the tech or someone (not me) put an X in the spot where my signature supposed to be. And this is a binding contract? This is just the icing on the cake for this situation. Dish network is the biggest joke ever! They could care less about their customers! I just hope people do some homework before committing themselves to a company like this. When I get through this situation they will never get me back! Thanks DISH!

So I want to know since they have lied to me about the contract and the price and we have had nothing but problems with it since we signed up. What right do I have to get out of the contract??? They say their customer service is great and it's not. When I first talked with them they said you can run two tvs off one box. What they didn't tell me was if you're recording two shows, both tvs have to watch the same show, so needless to say we have to have two boxes which is more money. So in the long run the consumer gets screwed again.

Be warned, Dish TV DOES NOT STAND BY THEIR CUSTOMERS once they get your signed contract and money! I recommend that anyone who is thinking of becoming a Dish TV customer, that you do your research!

I wanted to save a little money on my bills so I stupidly listened to one of my coworkers and switched from Cox Cable to Dish TV and it would have saved me about $40.00 per month for the first few months, however, when the installer came to my home, I informed him that the previous owners were Dish TV customers and that the satellite dish was still on my balcony connected to the existing cable that ran throughout my interior walls. Well the installer decided not to listen to me and ran a new cable after cutting the existing one and drilled a new hole through my back wall into my formal living room, then proceeded to use 3” brass hex-screws every 3’ – 4’ into my molding and attached the new cable to it (about 85 – 100 ft.). Doing so, he caused the molding to split in several places ranging from 7” – 18”. The installer also scratched my not even 6 month old gray bamboo flooring in 3 places as well as took a nickel size chunk out right in front of my steps about 1 away from the molding.

I contacted Dish TV to complain and that is when I found out the Dish TV does not do installations and that it was a subcontractor HaloPrime and gave me their number. I contact HaloPrime and they sent out their Las Vegas office manager by the name of Trish. Trish was very shocked, well, acted like she was shocked and apologized and took several pictures as well as video. After 3 weeks of getting the run-a-round from both Dish TV and HaloPrime, some guy by the name of Cameron called me from ** which is his cell phone and insulted me by offering me a mere $250.00 and said that I can take it or leave it but that is all I would ever see from HaloPrime. I of course flipped at that and called Dish TV back, they pretty much said that since they didn't do the installation that they cannot do anything for me. I said to cancel my services to which the employee in the office of the president by the name of Tyler at 1-866-946-5710 Ext. ** said that is fine, but they will charge me a $250.00 cancellation fee!

I now have a severely damaged home and have to hire an attorney to get my home repaired! I also found out that HaloPrime uses a Shell company based out of Wyoming at the address: Incorp Services, Inc.1621 Central Ave, Cheyenne, WY 82001.

They make you get a 2 year contract and they offer a "$20 discount" for 1 year (you can get this specials with more channels for the same price "Discounted price" with other cable providers). Plus that was something that was not mentioned to me at the beginning. Wow!!! If you want to add a receptor, please avoid that. Then if you want to cancel the contract there is a $260 fee for that. Idk I'm just not happy with their service. I felt they just want to have you stuck with a 2 year contract and once you have signed the contract there is no way to reduce the bill. I just didn't have this experiences before with other cable providers I have used. I wanted to try something new, but I went wrong this time.

Well I got TV and internet bundle. When I purchased, the lady asked if I had a router or needed to purchase one from Dish. I said I would just purchase one from Dish and she said that it was $100 but on special, I could get it for $50 with the new service. The tech came out the next day and installed everything but the internet was horrible. We literally had to reboot the router every time we tried to use the wireless internet. I called and complained and they sent a new tech out to check the router for problems. Here's where it gets interesting.

The 2nd tech said that the router that the 1st Dish tech installed was a $5 10 year out of date complete piece of junk and that Dish does not carry it. He said it had no business being on the 1st technicians truck unless he was up to something shady. He said that all the equipment is right there in the shop and he said there was absolutely no way it was mistake that piece of junk was installed in my house and that he would be sure to take it back to his boss and have the 1st tech fired for trying to con me by swapping the nice router I purchased from dish for a cheap junk one he purchased on his own.

I was extremely upset about the whole situation and just called to cancel everything because of this and was told that was ok but I would have to pay $450 for early termination. I explained I wanted to cancel because they sent a thief to my house to con me and the person seemed generally concerned and forwarded me to the office of presidents. There I was told they were concerned about the situation and would have to call into the local division the next day and would be giving me a call back in a day or two. Well I gave them a week and no phone call so I called back.

Again I was forwarded to the office of presidents and this time was just told that everything I said was just hearsay and they don't see what the problem is if the 2nd tech swapped the router back. Seriously?? You don't see a problem with an EMPLOYEE keeping merchandise I purchased and replacing it with a cheaper inferior product obviously so he can resell the nice one for a profit. Most criminals do not get caught the first time so it's very likely he has done this numerous times to people and only got caught because the one he installed at my house was broken or I'd have not known. I went back and forth with the representative I talked to in the office of presidents several times and his response was always that he does not see what my issue is though since the 2nd tech brought me the router I purchased and took the inferior one back. He eventually said fine he would file a complaint to the 2nd tech's boss who told me I got ripped off.

Once I was told that was their only resolution to this issue was to discipline the 2nd tech that told me I got ripped off by the 1st tech, I said I just wanted to cancel everything because it appears the 1st tech wasn't just a bad apple and the business itself is just shady. Again I was told I can cancel for $450 early termination even under the circumstances. That is all good and fine but I will surely share my story then to prevent somebody else the trouble I went through.

Be aware when you cancel service you are required to pay shipping costs of returning equipment, not a huge deal, about $18. They will tell you this. BUT what they won't do is charge your account on file. When you cancel, your account is closed but they will send you an email with the $18 charge stating "charged to your account," so you think it's done, then a month or two later you get daily phone calls from collections over this charge. You try and contact DISH via the email you received (because you no longer have an account and can't log in or get anywhere over the phone without an account #) and get a notice "charged to auto-pay." Well, they won't ever charge your auto-pay because you no longer have an account. The collections person even said they shouldn't have worded their emails this way. Do yourself a favor and if you haven't yet signed up - DON'T and if you cancel, see how you can just pay that charge over the phone.

Was even willing to pay them to get sat back.

All they did was play games and lie to me over and over. They said it would be turned back on the same night and the next day it never got turned back on. They treated me real bad. Four and half years ago at a different residence in a different city, I had an account with DISH Network. The contract I signed said that they would guarantee service in the downstairs living room and the upstairs master bedroom. The service in the upstairs bedroom never worked properly. Sometimes we got the channels to change upstairs by turning the TV off downstairs. Sometimes we had to turn the power off to the box, then turn it back on without turning the downstairs TV on. Often, we would just forgo watching TV in the bedroom.

We had DISH reps out not once but twice to fix the matter. When the TV upstairs didn't work right in front of the rep, I said it doesn't work and I asked him to unhook the box and take it with him. A month after I quit their service, I got a call from a collection agency saying that they represented DISH. After I explained that the service didn't work, the lady on the phone made me an offer "for today only" - if I gave them half of the amount owing ($337.32), they would "terminate the relationship." I declined, saying that if it was truly a valid debt, such an offer would never have been made. She then said that she would be informing DISH that I felt it was an invalid debt and if they disputed that, she would be back in touch with me within a month. NO ONE EVER CALLED OR SENT ME ANYTHING IN THE MAIL.

Today, over four and a half years later at a different address that I've been at for over a year, a collection agency called "Afni" sent me a demand letter for the same amount of $337.32. When I called the number, they said that they would report back to DISH that it was a "disputed" debt and that they would be in contact with me if they disagreed. I made three calls to DISH. The first person said that the account was terminated for "lack of payment" and that they closed the account because of that. He did not mention the box that their representative had taken from our home. The second person refused to let me talk to a supervisor or a manager.

The third person said that the amount owing was due to early cancellation of the two year agreement. She then said that "the notes" said that I told the DISH technician on the second visit that the "problem had been solved" and that I was "satisfied." She made no mention of the fact that I made the technician take the box with him because the problem was not resolved. DISH says that I still owe this money four and a half years later. I told the collection agency that I'd be happy to see them in Court but they said that they would not be able to do that. I can't be the only one who has had this experience. Please do something, anything, to prevent this scam from continuing.

One day a salesman from Dish catches me working on one of my rentals and proceeds to pitch this TV service to me. At the time I had just internet and no TV at my rental. My internet is with TWC which has no contracts, when I got a TV I was going to go with them. This sales guy talks me into going with Dish and has me sign a 7" tablet explaining that I was signing up for the discounted package for HBO etc. I spoke to a gal on the phone to verify. I was NEVER TOLD THAT THERE WAS A 24 MONTH COMMITMENT.

Of course the agreement I was signing you couldn't read because you couldn't see all of it on this little tablet. Had I been told I could not terminate service before 24 months I would have NEVER signed up for this. I am not sure how long I will be here in Idaho. I wouldn't lock myself into anything longer than my 6 month lease. I moved locations 15 days after someone installed my dish. My sales guy came over saw my new place (less than a mile away) and assured me they could move my service. 2 weeks later I still had no service. I was given the run around for days telling me someone would be there. So I waited around for days for someone to show up - one night the guy was going show up after 8 pm, meaning I would have a stranger in my house after 9 pm. No way that was going to happen. Needless to say after a week I told them if they couldn't get my service set up I would be cancelling the service.

When I cancelled they kept billing my credit card. I had those charges reversed for fraud as I had no service they couldn't bill me for it. Then I started getting bills for $800 plus dollars. I actually only had their service for 15 days and paid for 1 month and set up charges. I called them and was then told I had a 24 month contract and would be billed for early termination fees. I told them I did not sign a 24 month contract - wasn't told about any 24 month contract. They sent me a copy of this "contract" which was the computer generated 'signature' from this tablet I signed. Word of caution - do not sign anything that isn't in hard copy that you can actually read. This is a scam especially in my case cause I told this guy I was here temporarily and he still signed me up without telling me about any contract. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. They are dishonest and unethical. Now they are refusing to reverse this and are threatening me with collections.

I wanted to cancel Dish tv and go back to DirecTV because of the price and they said we signed a 2 yr contract. I asked my husband and he said he didn't remember them saying he was signing for that, and Dish tv told us that in order to cancel their service we have to pay 30 or more a month to pay for early termination for the next yr. What the!!!!!!!! That's the same as their low package so now we are stuck with them. Now we are moving and being charged 100 dollars but their ad states, "You pack your boxes and we will move your services for free," where is the free if we are paying for it. Very unhappy with Dish tv. I would not tell anyone to get this service.

We've been with Dish for less than a month. The main box on the hopper system is rebooting every 10 seconds and as a result the other 3 TVs on the system are not working. I was given 4 "options": 1. be without TV for the weekend, 2. be credited for the days we're without the service (that should be a given) or 3. drive to get a new one. Dish can send a tech in two to three days to replace the box or I can drive 70 miles to pick up a new box (that's the closest supplier). Or, get this, I CAN CALL the technician who installed the service and ask if he can come out, if I STILL HAVE HIS NUMBER. Has anyone ever heard of a company that has THE CUSTOMER call the company's technician to replace defective equipment the company installed. BEWARE!

Internet will work for a short time then stop working. Also Dish has limits on data usage 10 Gigs. That will not last very long. After 10 gigs are used up Dish will slow down the Internet speed. So slow that nothing downloads. That is how they get you! Add more data. Then your monthly bill go! Best advice Don't go with Dish Network!

Dish would not help me and wanted to charge me $1000.00 Cancel Fee. Dish told technician to remove equipment. I wanted full credit, but no such process exist. Agent ** was very rude. I kept my cool, but with no resolve. It would 10 days approx to look at what I was told my word against Dish's Agent..! So beware, not recommended - poor service! I would be fired at work if I operated in Customer Service this way! I was sold a package of goods! - That was changed at the service technician install equipment, and now can not get out of being charged $1000 in fee to stop this roller coasters.

Stay away from Dish Service! Not a grand idea, hidden fees and charges! To cancel HBO and other service you cannot do it through Dish Service, so maybe expect another nightmare to do this too. You are given a date in the future & a phone number you write down. I wanted to stop service at install, and I would need to retain a attorney to get it reversed without being charged $1000 approx. Also I was getting 5 GB from my other internet service for $5.00, and Dish want $10.00 for 1 GB of additional service..

Consumers please be aware before you made the mistakenly plunge with Dish! I feel angry AND taken BY DISH, and I am sure this is not over with Dish and my opening a huge nightmare. I am not happy, but forced to accept this scam of improper Customer Service from Dish just ordered on 12/10/14 and install on 12/11/14, to be removed by Frank supervisor at Dish, because Dish would not give me what I was promised from get go and still refused to make the situation right as a consumer of Dish.Com & internet services. If you buy in like I did, be prepared for hidden fees and cost that you are totally blindsided by. This is to serve to help others with their complaints against Dish NetWork LLC. Dish Net Work LLC is company that conducts itself with FRAUDULENT PRACTICES. We contacted this company back in Sept 2013 to acquire television network services upon completion of installation of their equipment within our home by a person who represented himself to be a Dish Network service technician. My wife was told to sign and initial a BLANK cell phone screen with nothing on the screen except a single line to sign upon (which was the equivalent as signing a blank piece of paper). When she asked what this was for she was told it was simply confirming that the equipment was properly installed. I was also told that I needed to present the first month payment on her credit card, which she did for $49.95.

Later we learned that the $49.95 was a charge for the installation of the equipment and would not be going towards any service charges. We also learned that the person who came out to perform the installation was in fact NOT a Dish Network employee but did in fact work for a company called "Connect Your Home" which was subcontracted by Dish Network to perform the installation.

I contacted my credit card company to dispute the installation charge that we were never informed of and contacted Dish NetWork, who after repeated phone calls, I finally spoke to John 888-826-8137 ext. ** who finally acknowledged that I was mislead and said I would receive credit toward my Dish Network account for the $49.95, which I did. However during my previous phone calls Dish NetWork due to their misleading business practices, I informed them that we would like to discontinue our television satellite services, which they advised us that in that case we would be “charged an early termination fee of $480,” which we were unaware of due we never got a chance to review because we were never presented with any contract agreement. We requested a copy of the agreement, which we received and you could clearly see my wife’s signature and initials on the agreement had been SUPER IMPOSED upon the agreement in multiple areas. Every signature was each identical in height, length, stroke and character that had been copied and computer generated.

This was a FRAUDULENT AGREEMENT that we had never seen, saw, and was never advised of and never agreed upon. WHO is going to responsibly agree to an agreement that Dish Network would have "The right to change any prices, fees and charges at any time and from time to time???" Which is ridiculous! For these reasons I do not think this was fair to us to held bound to an agreement that Dish NetWork manipulated and falsified for their benefit – to make changes in pricing, to charge absurd early termination fees and charges. This is gravely unfair. We tried repeatedly to convince Dish NetWork to help us but they were only unwilling to cancel this agreement, unwilling to admit wrong doing, unwilling to do anything further except threaten me with harming my wife’s credit ratings and send collections agencies after her.

It was sad to see good business practices have been replaced with BAD business practices. It is unfortunate that this is what companies like Dish NetWork have resorted to just to remain in business. Dish Network at the time of this writing has over 3,333 Consumer Affairs Complaints against them from a multitude of people online who are posting Fraudulent practices by this company. Well let this posting be number 3,334 of posted complaints.

Now for the Good News! I am pleased to post that I spent a lot of time searching for the proper agency that would help me and I found help through: the Bureau Of Consumer Fraud and Protection, Office of the Attorney General, State of New York, The Capitol, Albany NY 12224-0341, and MS. Andrienne **. These people helped me after finding them online. I filled out their question page then printed my complaint and sent it off with copies of any and all paper work that I thought would be helpful along with a detailed letter like you just read explaining the circumstances and I remained truthful and hoped for the best. I am pleased to say Dish NetWork was told to close out our account and make it a Zero Balance! Way to Go Bureau of Consumer Fraud and Protection! Thanks so much. Here’s one for the little guy! Don’t give in to intimidation and stand up for what is right with persistence which pays off if you hang in there! Hope this helps you all.

10/11/2014 Digital Dish came out to install 1 hopper with sling and a wired Joey. Problems started from the installation of the hopper. The coaxial sparked when the installer tried to screw the coaxial into the hopper. He then contacted his supervisor many times and informed me he had to unground the outside dish. The system finally booted up. The installer went into the other room to install the Joey. A few minutes later he came out and informed me that the Joey receiver was fried, because he said my outlets were hot. He took me outside to the meter where the main power came into the house telling me it was hot also. He then told me to call my power company, and I did. AEP came out the same day, and stated the power coming from outside into the house was perfect. And that the Dish installer was wrong.

10/12/2014 I noticed my TV in the room where the Joey was going to be installed had no picture realizing along with the Joey being fried so was my TV. I filed a claim with Dish Corp. stating the issues I had. Digital Dish sent out a supervisor out to do a walk thru. And take pictures. They believed I had hot outlet/s. 11/10/2014 I had a certified electrician from Quality Electric from Columbus Ohio come out and check my outlets - the same ones the supervisor checked. Description of work from his work order that I sent to a Dish claims specialist said "Checked receptacles for proper voltage and ground receptacles are in proper working order." The claims specialist sent a copy of the work order to Digital Dish. Dish Network told me that my installation was perfect and informed me they never had a bad hopper system installed. Meanwhile I have low signal strength and some pixelation. I believe the installer rushed the installation.

I decided to switch to DishTV after poor experiences from a cable and another satellite provider. After contacting Dish, I was set up with an installer for the next day. The installer arrived about an hour late and profusely apologized, saying he had a challenge with his previous installation and wanted to stay until he was assured it was working properly. The installer, Johnny, used a laser to discern the optimum location for the satellite dish and then he trimmed several trees (!) to make sure the dish was located for the best reception. Then, Johnny took great care to install the inside boxes just right and even ran extra cable so my daughters could relocate their TVs to other locations if they wished. Each location was thoroughly tested and the remotes labeled for the rooms. He even helped me in hooking up my new wireless modem.

The only negative was that I had to sign a tablet and I did not realize that I had signed up for three free months of programming such as Starz, HBO, etc. When I noticed on my bill that I had been billed for three months for these services, I called Dish customer service. I am a consumer advocate kind of guy, so I had names, dates, and other specifics at hand. The customer service rep stressed she would make it right. You may not believe this, but I received nine months of service free! And, if I forget to send in a bill, all I have to do when my service is suspended is call the dish pay phone line - they have my card information on file-and my service is restored within fifteen minutes, with no reconnection fees. DishTV is the way to go!

He returned and was "finished" at about 4 pm. That's a 6-hour install, an entire waste of a day for me. He stated that the internet modem had to "finish downloading" before I could use it. Then he left.

I waited a few more hours, tried to get online but of course could not... so... here I go with customer service. After about 3 hours online with 'tech support' in Phoenix, I finished the installation. The next thing I know, I get an email with 3 attachments, each a different agreement. In the customer signature line is someone's initials scribbled in...who initialed these?? Each page has a customer signature on it, but it's not mine. I can only assume that these agreements were actually signed off by the technician.

I called customer service AGAIN, and after getting bounced around to 4 different people, got the "office of the president" and spoke to someone named Isaac. Needless to say, nothing came of it; however, I did submit a damages claim. As far as I'm concerned, the agreement is void. We'll see what happens next. Someone from Dish is supposed to call me in a few days about my claim. Of course, now I'm stuck with this crappy company for 2 years. While the technician was still at my house, we called customer service about the situation. After several discussions, we agreed to cancel my service. They informed me that I would owe $440 for canceling my contract early and that they would charge it to my card on file. I had lost that card during my moving process, so I wasn't concerned that they would charge anything to my account. I planned to pay them $50 a month by check until the balance was cleared. I hadn't heard anything from them in several weeks and I never received the box to return my equipment.

This past Friday I received an email thanking me for my payment. I knew they did not have a valid credit card number, so it caught my attention quickly. I looked and sure enough the last 4 digits of the card were my new card, which I NEVER gave to them. I called my bank to report the charges as fraudulent. They are initiating an investigation and told me this is completely illegal. They said whoever gave them the card number can also be held liable. I called Dish and they claimed that I never canceled my services in October. When I demanded to know how they obtained my new credit card number, they refused to discuss it with me. They backdated the cancellation of my service and told me they will not waive the early cancellation feels under any circumstances. As of today, 16 months later, I have lost approximately 16 of the programs in my package, not to mention a huge $50 a month jump for less service. I was suppose to lock in at approx. $46 after the first year. But, it jumped to $79. I had to call constantly and argue my contract. After 3 months of arguing the $79, they put me at approx. $54. Still over the contract agreement! It is a constant harassment and irritation to constantly babysit and keep ahead of the DISH scams to squeeze every dime out of you. I am dropping DISH 3 months before my contract is up because they violated their contract themselves. Everyone BEWARE. None of these companies give a rat's behind about you.
