We moved to DISH from DirecTV because for some reason I thought nobody could be worse than DirecTV. However DISH has been so successful at showing just how a business can really suck and still stay in business. It's truly amazing. Go anywhere but DISH, unless you want to pull your hair out with total incompetence.

Didn't help at all. Runaround... lies... exorbitant price increases. Installers do whatever they want. Will not listen to where you want equipment... where they want equipment even though you had equipment before in same place. Smart A$$. 20 channels of copper clad skillet infomercial at one time.
UPDATED ON 04/28/2017: 11 phone calls to Dish and 4 technicians from Dish and the problem still isn't fixed. Bad hard drive, warped satellite receiver, said system crashed and left us alone to wait for it to come back up. We are 70 years old. Wait the hell for us to do the work? We don't know what to do! Threatened us with $480 early termination fee when we haven't been able to use the system the whole week we have had it. Stay far far away!!! We have had the system 1 week!!!

Ok so this maybe a strange circumstance but that's my point. I sign up for DISH with the idea I will be in this rental house for a few yrs. Turns out I get really unlucky and have to have back surgery/lose my job and I have to move. I contact Dish and try to put it on hold. I finally recover but I have to travel for work and Dish keeps sending me bills. I have them put it on hold and they start it up again without asking. This has been going on now for 2 yrs, I finally get a steady job and have a Dish Tech out to my house... He says I have to expose and no chance of getting service. Dish keeps sending me these bills and now they messing with my credit. Every time I get a hold of them I get an Indian or someone not American. My contract goes on forever because it doesn't count when it's on hold!
I am losing patience and why can't you see I can't get service where I live? They tell me they work out the details and I say, "What cut down trees and blow up buildings so your pathetic Dish can pick up a signal!" Come Dish! Next I will go legal if I can prove they are lowering my credit! They are taking money from me without providing a service... Since when is that legal!?

From the start this company did not provide the services that it promised. They deliberately installed an extra box when it could have and should have installed a cheaper box called a Jimmy that would have provided cable to a bedroom in my home. They said they could provide internet service and they could not and did not. Then their so called On Demand was frequently not working causing great inconvenience to me as a consumer. When I called them on multiple occasions they attempted to pacify me by lying and stating they would correct the problem and NEVER did.
Finally as after the 5th or sixth phone call which was time consuming and irritating due to the condescending tone and attitude of their customer service department I informed them that I was sending them back their equipment and canceling my account. Not only did they say they did not receive their equipment they had the audacity to charge me twice for services that I did not receive. How can you receive service on equipment when it's not connected or in the home?
After several disputes to my bank they collected the money and put a hit on my credit report. My bank then showed me a so called document that had a signature that WAS NOT MINE so I also closed my account. As someone who works and want to be provided a service I thought it was not unreasonable to be able to watch a program on On Demand that was allegedly provided by a cable company when my schedule permitted. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH DISH NETWORK they provide substandard services and have fraudulent business as well as Deceptive business practices. They will do everything to get as much money from you by any means necessary even provide false signatures.

Never will refer or ever get DISH again. I have spoke to their office of the president and they are very unprofessional and rude! They claim they credit my bill the 80$ that was in dispute but with the first claim she sent me a packet with the explanation and the bills in with nothing shows a $80.17 credit. I have called many times and still have got nowhere with dish. They completely steal your money and will never trust this company ever and for further people trying to get dish DON'T DO IT! I’m writing reviews on many sites about them. Please they are not accredited with the BBB. They have so many complaints against them and are NOT A TRUSTED COMPANY! They also STEAL AND LIE! BEWARE.

Have had Dish Network in our motorhome for over 6 years. Had a problem with the actual dome on unit and had made several calls to technical support for answers... Then had several boxes replaced in the unit and now all the sudden got a call from customer service and so called a supervisor that said account suspended and will no longer let you be a customer of dish. Really. I asked why. He said I made too many technical support calls and would not let us continue as a dish customer... They suck. I can only tell you the supervisor was one of the rudest customer service supervisors I have ever spoke to in my life... We own a business and if one of our employees spoke to someone like that they would no longer have a job... Buyer beware. If you use the service for any reason they will cancel you.

I regret signing a 2-year contract with Dish. My TV keeps losing satellite signals. This last time it couldn't be resolved by phone. I have been without my TV for a couple of days now. I'm told it will cost me $95 to have a technician come out to see why it's not working. Why should I have to pay additional money for them to come check their own equipment. I'm already paying for service I'm not getting. I'm now considering just paying all that cancellation fee just to be done with them. Either way I am being swindled out of money.

I have been with DISH Network, roughly seven years. I was a DirecTV customer for twelve years. Until they started charging more, and taking channels away in their packages. Now, DISH Network is doing the same thing. I recently went to their flex pack, and was told that it would not go up, or there would be no loss of channels. Now, they have taken the Reelz network off this package (without notice), and not offered anything to replace it. Customer service very rude!

DISH has turned over a fraud account to collections that was dealt with two years ago. Two years later I get a collection call. I called DISH and have to jump through all kinds of hoops to resolve. This is going to take a long time to resolve. I have had fraud with DirecTV, in the past, for twice as much money and they resolved. Why is this happening again after two years of being resolved and sent to collections. They must be desperate for revenue! I had been thinking of going back to DISH after canceling about 6 months ago. But after this HORRIBLE experience, have rethought and decided against.

My complaint about Dish Network is like all of the others, so I won't need to go into a long detail. They added another wrinkle to not helping us correct the problem we were having. We did cancel our account today because we just had to give up. Just remember to not trust anyone who works for Dish because the customer service person we tried talking to told us that they are an equal opportunity employer and they are not responsible for what their employees tell you. We got stuck with a $380 early termination fee because we were not informed that if we got another DVR they would extend our contract for 2 more years. ENOUGH SAID.

I am a new customer with Dish. I have the flex pack, and when I asked if that included the music channels they said yes. Now they are charging me $10 for them. They did not tell me that they were about to start a bid war with Hearst, the provider of NBC feed. One week after I started, NBC and all its other channels went off! It's been almost 6 weeks and still no change. When I call to complain, they lie and say they are "working" 24/7 on it. A terrible company!!!

Dish Network's new software package is extremely and intentionally corrupt. What do I mean? Dish has eliminated many options you used to have. For example, you can no longer access most channels' on demand features. An attempt to strong arm their customers into having Netflix, a company they're in bed with financially? Sure could be. As some shows don't arrive on Netflix for months if at all, you have lost many viewing options. Options took from you with no warning. Legal terms. I pay Dish in good faith. They must provide a product in good faith per our legal contract. Now their product is clearly inferior. Without warning or compensation. CLASS ACTION ATTORNEYS, PLEASE CONTACT ME VIA FACEBOOK PM. Cancelling Dish Network service has been on my to do list for a while. I signed up with them 4 years ago. Initially, my bill was $45 then $65. At the end it was $109 (no change in service level). I was lazy about cancelling because it is an ordeal. I had a Friday afternoon off, so I called on 4/7 to cancel service. On the phone for an hour patiently listening to at least 10 pitches for discounts. Whatever. The guys is just doing his job. Finally, after saying no 20 times, got him to cancel service. He told me 7 to 10 days to receive a box to return my receiver. I never did receive the return package. But I did get a bill for $75 saying "Welcome Back." Apparently, my service was not cancelled.
I called them back on Easter Sunday. The Customer Service Rep said I called 4/10 to re-enlist. She did not believe me when I said no, I did not call to reinstate service. She said that I must to talk to their fraud department before they would cancel service. After 15 minutes on hold transferred to the "fraud representative" who was a sales guy, and started our conversation offering me another deal. That's when the screaming started (my screaming). The guy insisted I called on 4/10 to reinstate service. Basically why would anyone at Dish do that? I don't know, but the only people with access to my account information and PIN are at Dish. And if I did not call on 4/10 and someone at Dish signed me up again to make a quota, that is fraud and identity theft. I think this is something that Dish should be taking more seriously.

In that case, my card was stolen and they just let the person use my card to pay whatever the hell they owed them without the cardholder's signature. They charged me for equipment and other things I knew Nothing about.
I called over and over asking why are they charging my acct for something I didn't do and they constantly nagged me about Payments. Dish said they would refund my money, after I spoke with my bank and the next couple of days passed and they said they're Not Refunding because "multiple" payments have already been made... AGAIN something I didn't sign for!!! What I look like checking to see if money disappearing from my acct if I already know what's being taken out from my own hands... If I could give a negative 5 I would. I normally like DISH. So much so, that I've had no other provider since the late 90's. On my most recent move to NC however it's all changed. The setup in my apartment was very tacky looking, with wires everywhere. Screw holes and more holes, and then not used. They were supposed to follow my complex's rules and come back within a week and mount the pole. They never came back. The DISH sat right next to the sidewalk. I had to cancel the service for noncompliance. Of course then I had to jump through hoops doing so. Now I'm having to wait 3 weeks to get refunded over $200 in returned items. Their paperwork states it takes 5-7 business days after receiving said merchandise. Well, apparently they don't follow their own rules. Don't bother with them. Unless you got fight in you.

When one of my DISH NETWORK receivers failed a couple of weeks ago, they wanted me to pay 95 dollars to have a technician come to my house to effect repairs. I told them to come and get the antenna and both receivers and discontinue my service. They wanted to know why and I told them I would not pay for their technician to repair equipment that belongs to DISH. The only thing I own is the televisions but the equipment belongs to DISH and it is up to them to keep it in good working order. They "waived" the charge.
When the technician came to my house, he tried to get me to pay a monthly fee to insure against future failures. I refused for the same reason. I told him he might as well ask me to insure his truck to cover repairs in case it breaks down on the way to my house. I wonder how many old people go ahead and pay DISH to repair their own equipment? I pay DISH a monthly fee to provide a service and it's their responsibility to keep their own equipment in good working order and if they can't, then they are not capable of providing the service and I'll go elsewhere!

The first year they give you a great deal then the second year it increases. Every six months you are constantly calling to reduce your bill. I am writing to square away my balance with Dish. Their prices are tremendously overpriced for TV service. When I began service with Dish, I was comfortable with the amount. After two years I had to call every few months because the monthly charge was just too high just for TV service compared to other service providers. The numbers do not make sense.
They charged me a $7.00 late charge on my final bill because I didn't pay for services in advance because I was moving. $12.00 Equipment Return Box. I never received the box to return equipment. I had to call Dish once again because I did not receive it, so the agent emailed a label to me and told me to use my own personal box. The representative assured me I would not be charged since I was using my own box. $3.99 movie charge - I did not order a movie. $5.80 Courtesy 3 of 6 charge a bogus charge. A total of $134.33 for TV services for 25 days for my final bill. Ridiculous! I have been emailing and calling them and they keep arguing with me they aren't going to remove the charges.

As American consumers I can't believe that Dish Network gets away with operating their business as if they are making their own laws, dictating their own policies and they think they are dealing with uneducated and ignorant families! We like to think that we are good Americans; we pay our bills each month and on time. We follow the laws of our country and give to our communities. Dish Network is by far the worst company we have ever had to deal with. I recommend to all cable TV subscribers never to sign up with Dish because of their illegal business practices, their immoral and unethical philosophies, and their greed which will eventually bring them down as a company. Not to mention their ignorance to loyal customers who keep this company in business! We will never, and I repeat NEVER do business with Dish Network ever again.
On a positive note, we recently became customers of Comcast and we now have our telephone service, our internet service, and more importantly our cable TV service with Comcast. And we couldn't be happier. The programming and choices does not even compare to this "two-bit" cable provider. It's too bad that it took an "early termination fee" by Dish Network that set us free from their tyranny and outrageous lousy customer service and disregard for loyal patrons! Whatever you do, do not do business with Dish Network or you will despise them immensely because of their greed for money and the lax in the laws which allow them to get away with bad business practices!

I got Dish Network for my mom almost 2 yrs ago as she wanted couple of the international channels. They came and installed and my bill came up to $46 each month which was ridiculous but since it for my mom, I let it go. Now, I got DirecTV and for 100+ channels I am only paying $73, so I started inquiring about the Dish bill. I was told that I did NOT have to have a DVR and to request it w/o it as they had tagged along an additional $10 for it. When I reached out the customer support, she told me since I had this plan for almost 2 yrs why didn't I cancel before? I told her because the tech or your company never gave us that option. They said they were sending someone to install it and he brought one box and that was it. I did NOT ask for a DVR. They made it seem like that was the only option I had.
So she suggested that since I don't have the protection, I will pay $95 service fee or I can purchase the protection for another $8.99/mo for min 180 days. Ok, since I was already paying an unnecessary $10 each month either way, I decided to go with it...till she tells me this will be considered a new contract and it will be extended for another 24 months! HECK NO! You guys already RIPPED me off the past year and a half and I AM NOT going to extend my contract with such company who base their business on frauding people. Had they been fair, we might have even looked into having more services with them but since we were paying $46 just for 2 channels we never even looked into their other plans and now I am so glad! DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING THIS COMPANY DOES... FRAUDS!

I recently moved to the Jackson area from Cherry Hill and was in need of new cable and internet service. After a Google search I contacted what I thought was Dish Network and I was advised that due to my location cable was not available at my location and I had to use a Satellite Dish service for my cable TV and a local dealer named Hughes for internet service. I understood there was no other option. With that said I signed up. 3 days later I was to have my internet installed only to get a call that they couldn't come due to not having the equipment needed. I waited another week and they never showed up.
My fiance called the local cable provider only to discover cable with internet is available for 100.00 less than Dish and Hughes internet combined. I was deceived by Dish Network telling me cable wasn't available. I called Dish and they want to charge me 480.00 cancellation fee. I was manipulated and deceived by Dish Network by them telling me I had to use their service very well knowing I could get cable from Optimum Cable. Optimum came out same day and connected my cable and internet service. Beware consumer, be careful who you talk to and never order from Dish Satellite TV.

I wish I could list all the headaches they have caused, but I will be brief. Digital TV gets stuck and you have to wait at least 10 min or a little less for it to reboot. I had this happen to me when I cancelled my Protection plan, I mean after all I do not own the equipment. Dish owns the equipment. I am not planning on damaging the box. I received and had new box installed and all was fine for almost 6 months, but once I cancelled the Protection plan I started to have issues with receiver. I requested cancellation of my DISH contract on April 8th because it renewed on the 9th. I did this because you cannot cancel giving a future date, (tried that) the coverage is cancelled the day you call. First I was told the cancellation fee was $480.00, which was the same thing I was told last December. When I told them this could not be right since it was the same, I was transferred to someone that told it was $150.00.
When I cancelled on the 8th, I was told it was $130.00 and I had to pay $12.00 for each of the return box to send the equipment back. The total of $156.19. I said fine and went ahead and paid the fee. The same day this amount was taken from my account, the regular monthly fee of $157.42 was also deducted from my account, which I understand as it was too late to stop the transaction. By now I had also received an email from DISH that my early termination fee would be deducted on April 29th.
I called DISH, whose customer service is in the Philippines, and explained that I needed a refund of the monthly fee of $157.42. The agent told me it would take 19 business days to get it returned to my account. I told her this was unacceptable. I asked to be transferred to supervisor, still in the Philippines, and was told the same thing. I asked to be transferred to someone in the U.S. I was transferred to Brian agent code: **, that it would take 19 business days. I had worked with EFT accounts and just could not believe this to be true and was told again 19 business days was their policy.
I then asked why I had gotten the email about the early cancellation fees, when they had already been paid. I was told it was an automatic email that goes out when an account had been cancelled. I asked him if it made sense to him to receive an email saying a fee that had already been paid was going to be deducted from your account on April 29th. He said he understood what I was saying, but the email was automatically sent. Didn't he think this should be re-thought? He just said he would put my refund request in. I do have to admit by this time I was very frustrated and just hung up. Their customer service really needs help!

I switched from TWC to Dish for television and internet. The promotion sounded reasonable, or so I thought. While the cable TV is working okay, the internet does not work. They contract it out from Century Link. First, the tech only works outside so no one comes into your home for a complete internet installation. It was only after I hooked up the modem/router that I discovered it didn't work. I called and a tech is supposed to be out in the next 2 days (again outside only).
The problem is that the internet goes through the phone lines as opposed to ethernet and wi-fi, which seems out-of-date to me as I've have ethernet/wi-fi for the last 10 years. I was told that if the problem is with the phone lines inside the house, then it's on me. DO NOT EVER GET THEIR SERVICE!!! THIS IS A BAIT & SWITCH COMPANY!! Not picking up HD on any local stations. This is a new problem. After going through all their required "reset" steps over the phone with the rep, we were told it was probably the old receiver and a tech would need to come out. The charge for this was $95.00 but they would generously cut in half. After being a customer of 18+ years and never having the receiver upgraded I thought the least they could do was fix the equipment they actually own for free. Could have just sent a new receiver!
After much complaining about this situation, we were told to pay up or we could just find another carrier! Are you kidding me!!! After all these years as a customer they felt the $47.50 was more important than a long time customer. Perhaps we'll end up paying their ransom to get HD up and running but we were shocked. What ever happened to rewarding loyalty?? Now searching for a reasonable carrier so we can tell them this decision is wrong. Not so much the cost, just the principle of it. An extremely poor way to treat loyalty.

After 4 years of being with them and going through this process multiple times to keep my price down (every six months) I called to cancel service and switch providers and was told I would be charged $240 because I was under a contractual agreement. When I asked to speak to the customer service agents manager, I was put on hold for a great while and spoke with a woman named Star (her operator ID was **).
She began to get rude with me when I explained that I was put under a contractual agreement without my knowledge. I set up autopay for my monthly payment via my debit card for MY account but unfortunately DISH NETWORK attached MY debit card with someone else's account. After several calls to DISH NETWORK, with no help from their so-called Customer service and Fraud Department I met with the branch manager of my bank and we had a call together with their "Fraud Department". Nick (from DISH) and his Supervisor, Victoria, Admitted the Error was done by THEM, the merchant, yet they Still REFUSE to reimburse my bank account with the money they took from MY Debit card/account! Initially, it was the Exact amount done via autopay against my card on the Exact same day (seems like an inside job to me!!) and after a few months the amount to the "mysterious other account with someone else's name" became more every month until it was more than double mine.
I didn't catch it for a while because I was encouraged to "go paperless And set up autopay so I wouldn't ever be late on my payments." It seemed like good idea at the time. I couldn't have been more wrong! I have even spoken with the so-called President of this region. He was as rude and unprofessional as Customer service and the Fraud Department. They all started the conversation the same way... with "It's your Bank's fault," until they all finally admitted They Made the error but yet they Refuse to make things right by reimbursing my bank account! I told them they sure didn't mind taking My money without my authorization!
I have filed a Credit Card Fraud Report with my local Police department and filed a Fraud report with my bank. Looks like I'm going to have to hire a Lawyer! Also, I attempted to cancel my DISH NETWORK and they threatened me with early cancellation fees!! After They Fraudulently charged ME!! I can't believe it!! I have read many reviews where this has happened to many other people. What should I do? I am Beyond frustrated! I am currently looking for a good lawyer that handles cases like this.
After reviewing my account Very closely, this has been going on for over a year! I wish I had Never set up autopay. I wish I had Never never gone paperless (out of sight, out of mind) but most of all, I wish I had Never signed up for DISH NETWORK! If I could have given them a negative star I would have. What they are doing is absolutely a Felony. This is the most unprofessional, rude scam scheme I have ever seen and it's happening to Thousands of people all over the USA.
Prices go up without prior knowledge, they take away channel after channel, month after month. They re-sign people's contracts without the person's knowledge. Several people have had them for more than 10 years and get charged an "early cancellation fee" from $300 - $600? (After 10 years? Really? That is absurd!) I told the "Region President" He needed to do an internal investigation into his billing department because this is absolutely illegal! He went on and on about how the IRS scams people everyday, etc... going completely off subject. Like that was going to smooth over the situation and the illegal actions they have done. I told him I didn't care what anyone else does I was concerned about what They were doing to me and other people like me. Finally I hung up on him. Please, Do Not Ever Sign Up for DISH Network!

About 12 years ago we subscribed to Dish. About 10 years ago, shortly after my wife succumbing to cancer, we suffered a house fire. My insurance company had a claims agent there the next day, and in a few days the fire restoration firm had everything including the TV and the dish boxes removed for cleaning. A week or two after the fire, I received some cards in the mail to 'upgrade' my boxes. As the boxes were being stored until the repairs were complete, I talked to a gentleman at Dish explaining my situation asking what I should do. He had NO answer, and hung up on me!
For the next 5 months I continued getting bill from Dish and I paid them. When we got back into the house we had trouble connecting the boxes so I contacted Dish. I told them I had paid out nearly $400 and was told "tough luck" we won't reimburse the money. THIS IS ROBBERY IN MY BOOK AND I CONTINUE TO TELL EVERYONE I KNOW NOT TO DEAL WITH DISH!!! I know Dish will never see nor respond to this complaint as they are a bunch of spineless thieves.

6 months ago I made a very bad decision. To lower my costs I switched from DirecTV to Dish. The first few days after installation none of the "timers" would work. That means I couldn't record anything. For someone who never watches live TV that presented a problem. Tech support was worthless and they send me a new Hopper. After a while, when this one had been working fine, it stopped recording programs unless I asked it to record them one by one. The timers would not record a series or a number of games.
Again tech support had no ideas and I eventually got to an "Account specialist" who informed me that it was a known problem and that they were working on it. After a few weeks of no progress I called and canceled on the grounds that the service I signed up for was not being delivered. They argued with me that the service was just "television programming" and that I couldn't cancel because of a "feature". I call DVR recording more than a "feature" in today's world. They are trying to charge me a cancellation fee of $380 and claim to be going to take it from my credit card without my authority. I will dispute this and fight them all the way. The system didn't work and they admitted as much. I should therefore not have to pay for it or a cancellation. They are unreasonable, uncaring and in the end downright rude. It was hard, going in, to imagine such incompetence. Never, ever again.

Last October we had a service tech come to our home to fix an issue with their equipment. After he had completed the work he said Dish was offering a special on Polk Surround Sound systems. It sounded like a great deal at $399 so we purchased it. He had the bar and the subwoofer in his van, but said there were 4 other wireless speakers that we would get sent to us in January. He said they were back ordered. Dishonest service tech. We called in February asking why we hadn't received them. We were told that system doesn't come with any additional speakers.
When we told them what happened, they said the service tech would have never told us that. I argued my point and then said I wanted to return the system. She told me we couldn't because it was over 60 days. Are you serious!!! We waited because we were told to wait. We, "apparently" spoke with the assistant to the president (doubt it) and she would not do anything for us. They took $50 off our next bill and that was it. We also have interruptions in service quite frequently. When we move we're going back to DirecTV.

I had two Hoppers and five Joeys. One Hopper went out. After I installed the replacement they shipped I could no longer access ANY DVR recordings on either Hopper from any of my Joeys. I called their tech support repeatedly. Every time I was told it was a software problem and they were working on a fix. They said I would be contacted when a fix was found.
After a week I demanded a bill reduction. They agreed to a ten day credit which turned out to be only a few dollars, not a proration of my entire bill as they represented. After a month with no fix they offer a temporary bill reduction from around $175.00 a month to $157.00. I argued that offer was ridiculous. I am not getting anything close to what I was paying for. Their attitude was one of indifference and lack of concern. An 18 year customer spending huge money on their products! Forget them, I fired them and will NEVER do business with Dish Network again!

In short, different Dish employees quoted me different monthly fee amounts, while I was on a temporary pause. Then they quoted me an amount, I supposedly owed them - (I gave them no money) and yet in about 2 weeks, that amount went down by about, $40. Then, they quoted me an amount, they were putting me in collection for. Again, when the collection amount came through, it was less than originally stated. Why are these employee's constantly quoting different amounts? And claiming, the last person was wrong?? Are they not trained?? I have all this, on paper. They even sent me an empty box, to the East coast to retrieve their equipment, that was still on the West coast 4000+ miles away. I told them this, but - again they did NOT listen.
They later sent 2 more empty boxes and also, put stickers on my ex husbands house windows after I left - to again try to retrieve this equipment. He's angry now, too. On top of that; they're now trying to, "charge me" for their employee's ongoing errors! These errors, have severely messed up my health and I finally had to accept they're voiding my contract. I proved my case in small claims court. So, now they appealed. Now they sent an attorney to redo it. The Judge told her - (last time) to just pay me the $300! As it's a waste of courts time! But, in the hallway, She said, they have to stop people from filing cases like this! Wrong!!! They should focus on correcting the problem with their staff! Not shoving errors down customers throats and charging them for it!
I could use, some ex-customers with similar issues behind me in court! Let's stop them from doing this. What ever happened to, the customer is always right? In Dish's eye's, they're always right and the customer is always wrong! How are we to know, company policies - if their employee's don't know the correct info to tell us?? I'm angry and very confused.

Two days ago the dish wouldn't work in any of the units. I phoned Dish for their "world class service". The man was helpful, he stated he reactivated the service and if that didn't work then the receivers should be unplugged for a few seconds. I inquired about installing Dish in the remaining 4 rooms. After some misunderstanding regarding an advanced payment the issue was resolved.
Dish Network was to be installed today. As of yesterday, the original 7 units Dish still would not function. I phoned Dish probably 8 times, getting different and conflicting information on each occasion. I requested a supervisor, more conflicting information. Finally he stated that my account was classified incorrectly. If I wanted it repaired, I would have to agree to reclassification. I inquired if this would affect the cost. He stated probably, but wouldn't address price. I became extremely frustrated with this extortion stance. I told him to shove it and more. Dish installed the system and reinstalled it again in 2015 with new wiring and receivers in all of the rooms. They were certainly aware of all conditions. Refusing to repair their system unless I paid a higher monthly fees is extortion. I wouldn't recommend this provider. No ethics, they made the original deal. When I called I was told I can't because my contract is up NEXT June. I tell them that is not possible and they proceed to tell me I resigned a contract in June 2016. I tell them the only thing I did in June was downgrade my receiver to get a cheaper payment because the price kept going up. I am then told I voluntarily signed a contract when equipment is changed. I told them I was never verbally told this and would have NEVER changed receivers if I knew I was resigning for another 2 years. I told them the technician had me sign something I thought was just acknowledging that I had a different receiver being put in. I would have never dreamed it would be another 2 yr contract. I asked to see the contract I signed and was told I could dispute this. I was to receive an email in two days.
Four days went by so I called again. I was then told I could not dispute anything and there was nothing that could be done because I signed the contract. I asked to be emailed the contract I signed and was told there was an issue and my email didn't work, which is funny because I receive my bill every month through my email!!! I asked to speak to a manager and was very rudely told that wouldn't get me anywhere. I spoke with a manager and was told the same. No sympathy, no compassion, just flat out that if I want to terminate my contract it's $300. I asked if they can review the phone call in June and see that none made me aware changing my receiver would mean I would sign another 2 yr contract. He said they would review it but even if the person didn't tell me that, it wouldn't be waived. So I got screwed.
He then in a condescending voice told me I should have read the contract I signed. They are sneaky liars, who don't care about their customers. All of the customer service I received was garbage. This is my first tumultuous year with DISH. I began my two year contracted "guaranteed" rate of $59.99, which was reduced for 10 months by $5 due to the Friends and Family rewards. My new bill for 10 months was to be $54.99. Within a couple of months, my bill showed a ridiculous .02 cent charge for FCC or Federal tax (I honestly cannot remember what excuse they gave me); my rate then went up to $68.02 to cover the cost of the Hopper. Mind you, this was all supposed to be covered in my "guaranteed" first-year rate. Just this past week, I was informed that instead of the $79.99 "guaranteed, contracted" second year rate, my bill is going to $108.02! They are separating the Hopper, additional 200 channels and whatever else their heart desires from the $79.99 and essentially charging me double for the second year!
I have called and been placed on hold for so long that I have had to hang up. I have emailed requesting an explanation, to which I did receive one response that told me that I needed to go online, review the channels available, and work with them to "reduce my bill". This was an already pre-arranged, pre-guaranteed rate that they want me to "work with them" in order to reduce my bill?! I am absolutely livid. Now, no one will respond to my emails or telephone calls. The email they sent telling me I had to choose other methods to reduce the bill, had a disclaimer at the top saying that if they didn't hear from me within seven days, they would assume the matter was resolved. HELLO! No one will respond to emails or telephone calls, so I cannot resolve this issue.
I have asked for a final bill, instructions on how to send the receiver and remote back to them and requested the bill be sent via email because I have been out of town since February 11 and won't return home until the end of April. Still, no one responds. Essentially, what will now happen is that they will keep charging my account $108.02 until I can get someone to talk to me. I haven't even used their service since February 11 because I have not been home. PLEASE dear public, be informed. This company is dishonest, evasive and nonresponsive.
I switched from DirecTV because I had a relatively small issue, compared to this one, and was encouraged by DISH that they stuck by their "guaranteed" rates. R.I.G.H.T. As soon as I return home, I will be reconnecting with DirecTV and paying DISH $20 a month until the end of my "guaranteed" second year contract ends. They should be ashamed of themselves. I, like so many other people, am retired; I budget my money and pay all of my bills on time. Surprises like this from dishonest vendors is extremely unprofessional and could be damaging to many of us retired individuals. DISH should be aware that karma is a beast!

I had DISH for several years. I reached out to DISH about problems I was having with my service. The On Demand didn't work and the box had trouble connecting to the internet. They told me the best way to solve my issue was to upgrade my box in my living room for a better connection. I agreed and they installed the box to fix the issue. It turns out that did not solve my problem. Then shortly after I lost some of my favorite local channels. I decided enough was enough and I was going to cancel my service. I was well out of the original 2 year required time frame from my initial setup. When I called to cancel I was informed that there would be a cancellation fee. When they installed the new box to fix my issue it automatically placed me in a new contract, even though I didn't sign anything. I was further informed that within 10 days of cancelling my service they would be drafting these funds out of my account automatically!
On top of everything, they were incredibly rude to me on the phone as well. I definitely moved forward due to their poor service. I didn't want to pay the fee, but since they just drafted the funds I guess I didn't have the opportunity to fully dispute the fact that I never agreed to an additional two year. I was informed of my final bill amount and proceeded with termination. I get my final bill and sure enough it was $89 more than what I was told it would be. I called in and after getting to "the office of the president" and an hour on the phone they agreed to refund me the $89 difference. Now, let's fast forward a month. I was told I had to climb on my roof to return equipment as well as pay for the boxes to return it in. I will admit that it took me some time due to weather etc. for me to climb on my roof. I had the boxes for over a month and hadn't returned the equipment. I had full intentions to do it, it's just not convenient for me to get on the roof.
I received an email on 3/7/17 stating that I had a bill due of over $700 due to unreturned equipment. I realized it was finally time to force myself on to the roof. On Monday March 13, DISH network drafted $649.00 out of my account for the equipment. The email simply said I owed a bill and that it was due immediately, it DID NOT say they would be drafting funds from my account. I was charged several fees to transfer money to cover the funds they drafted without my consent. I called them and was informed no monies would be returned until they received their equipment. Since I had just gotten it around I immediately went to UPS to have it sent back. IT was received by DISH yesterday (I mailed it on 3/13/17).
I then receive an email that says they will be refunding me $249.00! Of course I immediately call them to find out about the rest of my money. The guys says that they will refund all of it and I should have it in 7 DAYS! Seriously, I have to now wait 2 weeks to get my money back they took without permission!!! Also, let's point out if I hadn't called they were going to keep the majority of my money!!! I feel that due to their poor business practices there may be room here for legal action. I read many other reviews where they pulled funds from people's accounts without permission and they forced you into new contracts or in my case setup new ones to solve their own issues with services!! I will be forwarding this information on to anyone who will listen!! This company needs to be reported and addressed!!

I was promised up front because I was cashing in on a special offered to me, there would be no set up fee for that amount. He said "Oh that wasn't supposed to happen" and then put me on hold. He came back and said it was reversed and I would have to wait 7-10 days until it goes back into my account.
I was supposed to get a bill for my monthly amount of $119.96 that was due on the 22nd of each month. I paid $900 in bills yesterday and had just enough money left in the bank to cover the checks I had written and to get groceries and gas to get to work for the next 10 days. I woke up this morning (the 14th) to a lovely $119.96 charge to Dish Network. I was furious to say the least. I called and gave them down the road for stealing my money and Michelle # ** said that they don't do the charges. That comes from a company called GoDish.com/ltd and I would have to contact them. I told her that I did business with Dish Network not this 3rd party clearinghouse. I then told her that if I go to McDonald's and order a cheeseburger, I don't go to Burger King to pick it up.
So I called this GoDish company and the very rude woman who answered the phone with a monotone voice, said that the money was refunded on February 28th. My bank said they had no refund of $50 to my account at any time from any company. Then the rude woman said they only deal with the $50 set up fee and they don't deal with the monthly bills.
Well I now have about $40 to last me 10 days thanks to Dish Network. I hope people come on this website to read these comments before they think of slitting their throats with Dish Network. What really gets me, regardless of the fact that we lose the signal so much, they (Dish) wouldn't dream of knocking that off a person's bill. Never mind the fact that we can't very well watch t.v. when the signal is out. We still have to pay their outrageous bill. Why should you have to pay for something you don't get? My husband and I have had Dish in the past and had great service. We switched a few years ago due to them losing a local channel. I tried to switch back in my name since our current satellite is in my name (was in my husband's) and after giving all of my personal info (which I would never normally do) I was told I needed to give my husband's ss# as well as mine and put in his name or give a family member's ss # that referred me to verify who I was. My security questions were not difficult ones to answer. They were ones I live and breathe and yet I was told if I wanted service with them I had two choices. Give my husband/family members ss# OR pay $300 for equipment upfront. He was VERY clear, I had no other choices. The gentleman (I use that term VERY loosely) that I spoke with was rude, condescending and acted like he was doing me a favor.
I asked repeatedly who I needed to speak with to move forward with a quote of having DISH in MY NAME, not my husband's and was told he was the only one and a bunch of other garbage. He acted like I was ridiculous for not wanting to give my family or spouse's personal information (social security numbers) over the phone. I immediately changed by bank card of which I had just given him all my info on. I will NEVER recommend DISH to anyone again. I am so disappointed that a company that I thought excelled at customer service, is now a company that clearly does not care about their customers, whether former, current or potential. I was upset about DirecTVs pricing but at this point I will pay the extra to be treated with respect.

Once a very good company now the very worse of the worse. Years with no problems and great issue resolution experiences. But starting Feb 2016 they changed their behavior when their receiver broke down and had to replace mine. I ask for the exact one I had as it gave me no issues. They said the only they have to replace it with was their Hopper now but that won't affect me at all except with more functions. No price difference and my programming package would stay exactly the same with the same pricing. Within 1 day this new receiver had been malfunctioning. They returned a week later and replaced with a 2nd new one. That failed within a week, 2 weeks later replace with a third then a 4th. I learned some workarounds so we may watch some programming but never received what I was paying for.
We are on Social Security and my wife is bedridden. We must control our expenditures as they have been aware of for years and have been very cooperative until now. Now they want to raise my fees by 50% claiming all kinds of nonsense and still unable to solve receiver problems. I'm moving on... I have given them every chance a loyal customer can give, but now they have become indignant to my problems. Too bad, they were once a good company that I believe is under different management. They soon will go the way of other companies who forgot what got them to where they are. I reward good companies with blind loyalty by paying my bills early, recommending customers and never changing carriers.
We have been with Verizon and AT&T since the 1980's among others companies. Next week I call AT&T and a few others. Once I change, they'll never see me back. Sorry that you have changed. BTW... I have been a "C" band user for many years and in the past communicated with their founder, another "C" band user Charlie Ergen. We had a great relationship. So if they can treat us this way, many more are next.

I created an account just to tell everyone and anyone out there wanting to make a deal with Dish. If I could give ZERO stars I would. For anyone currently looking to purchase services with Dish Network, I will warn you - DO NOT DO IT!!! We have literally been put through the ringer with this company of crooks. Our internet NEVER worked. I spent more of my time on the phone with technical support saying, "Yes the box is plugged in" than actually on our internet!
When we finally disconnected our services in January we were told there was a credit on our account and to look forward to receiving a check in the mail- yea right! I got a call a week ago, it's March, saying that we owed $57.39. After a full week of at least four phone calls a day to collect this debt that Dish magically managed to pull out of their hat I called and was transferred from one person to the next who all couldn't answer why the representative that I formerly spoke with couldn't do simple math and told me that Dish apparently owed us money! How do you go from expecting a check in the mail to owing money!!!?
We switched our services to DIRECTV and not only has the price for our TV decreased, but the combined price for our TV and internet is CHEAPER for what we were paying Dish Network for the basic TV package. Also, their customer representatives aren't idiots. Save your money and don't waste your time with Dish Network.

However Gelina ** stated NO charge to do this process and on about validation would provide me with the most technologically advanced equipment available. I stated I did not want to commit and would speak with my husband before making any decisions.
Finally I was given a price but stated again I would not commit till discussing with my husband. She still wanted to lock in the deal for TV and I could add internet later. I stated again no. Gelina ** stated "by locking in promotion, you won't to do the same process all over again. We're giving you guaranteed price and we don't want you to miss it." I thanked her and she said "for security, we don't save any information here on our end."
Well fast forward to today 3/8/2017 my card was charged a fee. Mike at customer service 18448481071 a sales specialists says it is a pre authorization fee. I stated I was told in online chat I have printed in front of me NO charge to do process. He says it is really not charged to account. Well my bank subtracted it. I have been with Dish for a short time and have had many problems. Today was the worst. Dish sent someone to fix the most current issue and after some time he switched the receiver. It took a long time and many tries to get it working but it did. About an hour later the On Demand would not work so again I call Dish and was told to run all the tests again and that they have been having problems with this and that. It may take some time for them to fix. I asked if I would get a refund for the now five days and soon to be weeks without the service I am paying for and was told no but could get HBO for free. I said "No. I just want what I pay for. Nothing more nothing less."
Richard from customer service told me that it was my internet and that Dish could not fix. My internet worked on all other things and worked for the first hour and now it is my problem not Dish. After a while Richard said he would send out another receiver but if that did not work Dish was done doing anything for me. I then asked to be released from my contract. Was put on hold and then disconnected. They have my number but have not called me back. After seven hours of this I have had it for one day and will call tomorrow. All I ask is that I get what I pay for or released from my contract. Never would I think a company would treat customers like they are the problem.

We switched from DirecTV less than 6 months ago and got Dish. The first installer came out and it was a TOTAL day job for installation. After that, the TVs just started freezing up and when we called Customer Service (offshore) all the response was they will "send us another box" (3 in total). That didn't work either, TV still kept freezing up. Called again and another DAY JOB... replacing inner workings of sophisticated equipment built into a home in 2005.

I have had Dish Network for nearly 3 years. Recently, I got irritated with my bad WiFi service, constantly resetting the modem and TV boxes, and losing service in bad weather, so I called Xfinity to see how their prices matched up with Dish. It was cheaper by far and gave me more services (including a home security system). So I switched and once they were done installing it, I called Dish to cancel.
The first lady I spoke with tried to get me to stay, but when I told her it was already done, she gave up and transferred me to an "account specialist". This lady, Sam, would not take no for an answer. She was offering me discounts and help with tech issues. For ten minutes I just kept clearly stating to her that I already had Xfinity and just needed to cancel. WELL -- so much for the nice Sam who wanted me to stay. She said I was going to be charged for early cancellation. I told her I didn't see how, since I had been with them over 2 years and get this -- apparently when I moved and upgraded my services (Upgraded as in paid them MORE money), a new contract started. Dish Network is the worst company that I have dealt with. When first starting my service I had wanted to bundle TV and internet. I was told that while internet was available, I would have to stay in good standings with their company for 3 months to get their internet service. Three months later I was told that it would be another 3 months. Also, when I signed up I requested a sling box that I did not receive and was told to "buy my own from another retailer". In addition, one month my service was shut off for non-payment THE DAY BEFORE my bill was due. After all this I decided to cancel my service due to their horrible business practices.
Over a year later I let a friend put $1000 on my debit card for an online order. IMMEDIATELY DishNet took $600 off my card for early termination fees so needless to say my friend is pretty upset about the $600 I cannot pay him back. To sum it up, DishNet will break their own rules and regulations and then bleed your bank account for anything they can. If you want to spend money on services you never receive and have your service shut off based on a hunch, then Dish Network is perfect for you but if you are like me and don't have the money to donate to a multi-billion dollar conglomerate who provides little to no service, then you should look into a respectable TV company and avoid Dish Network at all cost.

I have been a DISH customer for the past 10 years. When I first purchased the DISH service in 2007, the cost $40.00/month was not a bad purchase. Programming was good and service was tolerable (still it was very hard to understand the India service personnel). Jump ahead to 2017. I am just about ready to disconnect from DISH. Programming has become a constant barrage of reruns and old programs (if I wanted to watch old programs I would switch to the antenna and watch the H&I channel). DISH shows the same movies over and over again to the point I am learning the dialog. When I complained to them, they suggested I purchase the $40.00 movie package.
The programs are now secondary to the commercials. Some programs have as much commercial time as they do actual program time. I have counted as many as 14 commercials in a row followed by as little as 53 seconds of program, followed by another large barrage of commercials. I know commercials are important for the revenue they generate, but have a heart, I don't buy anything they advertise on television. Then there is the synchronized commercials. It seems like once the commercials start on a channel, commercials begin on every other channel offered by DISH. This gives me a good amount of time to clean house.
My original DISH bill was $40.00. Now I am paying a bill that is a slight bit over $80.00. Recently I received a note that I was receiving a rate decrease of a few dollars. The rate decrease was to compensate for the newly imposed charges for the local free TV channels they added to the line-up some time ago. I still receive my local channels through my antenna because this is a high-def signal while DISH is a low-def signal (I have not opted to buy DISH's high-def, Hopper, recorder, receiver due to the added cost and new service contract).
The way I currently figure I pay $45.00 a month for old programming (very few new shows are ever available) and $35.00 a month to watch commercials. You guys ought to be ashamed of yourselves. Being a senior citizen with a disabled wife I live on a very limited income. We are not able to travel anymore due to the wife's bad back and other severe medical conditions. Our television is the main source of our entertainment.

I signed up with DISH Network for service for my RV, I previously had DISH Network for home and had a good experience with it for about 6 years. My service at home is no longer DISH but that is besides the point. I had my RV account on pause due for 6 months as during winter we were not using any of the services. This was costing $5.38 a month service charge. During this time I had an accident and was admitted to the hospital during which time the pause ran out. They immediately reinstated my service even though I was not using it and sent a bill.
When I finally received the bill almost a month and half later I called them reinstate the pause. I explained the situation to them and they were unsympathetic and now stated that I owed them 2 months of charges. I told them I would pay them one month but not two since l never got a bill in a timely manner. They refused to budge and since I am now disabled and have no income I told them I would pay as I could.
Then the harassment started. I started getting calls several times a week to pay my bill. I called after paying some of my bill and told them to cancel my service. I am now getting calls DAILY to pay my bill. Each time I have explained my situation and told them I would pay them as much as I could each month until the bill is zeroed out. That is not good enough for them, they are continuing to call daily, sometimes several times a day. I have now had to block their number as they refuse to listen to reason. I was actually thinking about going back to DISH for home service prior to this happening, I will no longer be considering DISH for any service in the future. Going into my 5TH year with Dish; you'd think I was a happy customer! I tried to be, but continual billing errors made that nearly impossible! Should have realized from the get go, when after signing up on a bundle deal with Frontier in Sept 2012! My first bill I was overcharged on the Dish portion over what was agreed to! So here was my #1 phone call (to be fair Frontier was great and got this rectified).
I am on fixed income, so auto pay is not something I take advantage of, and review every bill before scheduling! I highly recommend to all of you to do likewise! Once my first year was up, they high jacked the price to no longer affordable levels; at the same time weekly offers arrive in the mail for new customers to get hooked up! Yes, they agreed to some price matching! Then you'd still be billed incorrectly and make that call to get corrected! Little did I know their errors become your penalty; and on Jan 16, 2017 I get my bad episode of Celebrity Apprentice phone call from Mr Carlos ** in escalation that in 20 days time we were being "terminated"; which just happened to land us on Super Bowl Sunday on Feb 5, 2017! Talk about punitive; but that's your reward for loyalty and making sure of accurate billings!
Here's what I've learned through this process; if they start out with incorrect billings! Guess what; it doesn't get better? Consider changing providers every 2 years so you're always a new customer somewhere. We have an 88 year old and a couple of 70's in this household and we like continuity so would have preferred being treated with dignity, respect and accuracy! Guess what, your Smart TV can pull in 31 stations for free! With aid of a laughably simple antenna, who knew? DirecTV offers service for 1/2 the price and includes your Genies and Super Genies for free for up to 4 TV's which is what we have!
This should be a Thank you to Dish, as in 5 years time we have paid too many thousands to think about! Explore every other option before you take the leap! This was misery start to finish! Actually thinking strongly about cutting the cord permanently and not commencing with alternative service; as taste in my mouth is not one a Christian wants to mention! So do you feel lucky? Have been loyal Dish customer since Spring of 2008. Typically have had 2 homes, one in town and one in country. A year ago purchase second country home and attempted to stay with Dish, contacted to see if the would compete with DirecTV to keep my business, refused so purchased DirecTV for second home. Home didn't work out for us, so sold last October. Could have moved DirecTV for $99.00 but opted to stay with Dish by updating to new system even though it cost me more than staying with DirecTV. Am currently very disappointed with new Dish compared to both old Dish and new DirecTV.
When attempting to watch recorded/DVR shows once our free 90 day movie channel package expired results in our being harassed by Dish pop ups/blocks making it very irritating to attempt to watch our saved shows. Old Dish did not play that game and either did DirecTV. Attempt to use guide to see what's upcoming in perk periods as well as looking for specific series time frames with the thought of purchasing packages for certain time frames. Old Dish was very user friendly, hit guide once for subscribed channels, twice for HD channels and 3 times for all channels. New Dish is much more difficult and will not allow us to look at guide for unsubscribed HD channels such as 308 because they don't have SD. How does Dish expect us to purchase when we can't even tell what is upcoming? Again new Dish is worse than both old Dish and DirecTV.
Old Dish had a 4x forward and reverse speed which made it easy to go back and pick up where you left off you got interrupted for any reason. New Dish starts at 15x which means you spend a lot of time going back and forth to find where you left off at such a high rate of speed or at 10 seconds at a time back or 30 seconds at a time forward, and who needs 300x, easier to stop and choose restart. Big step down from both old Dish and current DirecTV.
My son is currently building his first home in the country and asked which I recommended, this was last November, a month after purchasing new Dish. Even though new Dish, and therefore me, have seen many hopper issues I was so pleased with the old Dish I told him Dish assuming things would get better. His best friend recommended DirecTV. At this point, unless Dish makes changes, I am going to recommend DirecTV to my son as well as take a long look at DirecTV when my two year contract is done. Very disappointed to date!

Switching to DirecTV!!!! DO NOT get this service! The only reason I had to get Dish in the first place is because DirecTV didn't have it available in my previous location!

I have had Dish now for 1 1/2 years. Contract for 2 years. I now found out that I have an extra add year because we downgraded due to not wanting the hopper. They send out contractors that do not explain the facts. They come in, exchange equipment and you sign for the exchange. We have had so much problems with Dish. Even in great weather the satellite continues to go out. Watching a TV show and out goes the satellite. Thank goodness for Netflix. There needs to be some consumer protection against companies that perform in this manner. Dish needs to be reported for not reporting the actual facts and contract to the consumer. They did state if I dropped my Dish they would take money out of my checking account without my authority.

Bad customer service. This company will lie, lie, lie. Beware of Dish Network. They will go up on your bill even if you're under contract. When you try to leave them, they will chase you down with BS charges. Read all the reviews on Consumer Affairs. They are all true. Dish kicks out my review on their site. So don't believe the made up ones they put on there. Bad bad business!!!

I was looking into getting Dish but my husband I wasn't sure of we would be getting it so the man I talked to went ahead and made an appointment. Well we decided not to get it so we canceled and then come Saturday we realize that they charge us 49.99 for processing fees on a service we never received. So I called customer service to get my money back and they gave me the run-around and gave me four different numbers to call. I was on hold for two and a half hours trying to attend to my four kids while they kept giving me the brush off about it all and then when it came down to it they did not refund my 49.99 so they took my money when I didn't even have a service provided to me. Let's just say I'm beyond livid and will never recommend Dish Network to anybody.

I left DirecTV to come to Dish because they offered me programming at a good price. I've only been with Dish for twenty-eight days and I'm a very disappointed customer. They told me certain things that would happen as for me being a Dish customer. I have been misinformed since day one. For example: I was told that I could change my due date for my billing. I called in tonight to have my due date change and I was told that I had to have a zero balance and that it would take a couple of billing cycles for the date to change. I was not informed of this when I first purchased Dish as my tv programming provider. When the Dish installer came to install my services they brought the wrong box for my programming. I had to call Dish to inform them that what I had installed was not correct. Dish had to send out another installer with the right equipment the day after. I could go on and on but I'm just going to stop at this point. I regret leaving DirecTV to this day.

I just spoke with customer service and asked about my bill. I get a smart package for a total of $41.00 and I explained I expect an added tax fee but not to exceed around $15.00. Explain to me my equipment fee which is $33.00 per month. I am getting charged to record. My Hopper for TV is included in my TV package but not my recording ability or service on my receiver. I was offered to have my receiver changed or keep paying $12.00 a month to record or it's called Hopper DVR Services. I am also being charged $7.00 per month for each Joey Box which is 3 in the home. My bill has basically rent charges added for equipment which enables me to buy DISH TV each month. Equipment and DVR service should come with package. I explained I've probably have bought the equipment by now and want the equipment fees off. Thank you.
UPDATED ON 03/18/2017: Called to switch to new Flex package, but of course my phone call picked up by crooks and not the honest Dish employees. If they look at my account or the one I can only bring up on my TV then it's crooked. They would not let me add a package (one is included free with Flex package). Told it would be a 10.00 added charge cause not autopay and that's an extra charge of 5.00. Currently on my account I'm also paying for local channels which I was not aware of before I looked at my account on the TV to try and order it myself. The crooks have it rigged to what they want.
I was going to be charged also 23.00 for local channels. Right now it's 10.00 and all basic channels are suppose to come included in my package. They are ripping me off and I cannot get Flex package at 39.99 with one kids pack included and without paying extra for local channels. My account number is **. Please have Dish contact me so I can change my package without crooks and have my bill corrected so I'm not being ripped off.

I called 13 months ago about service. First they set up the wrong equipment and wrong plans. Not even a week later I wasn't satisfied so I asked to cancel. They tried to slap a $400+ cost for cancellation. They then offered me a different package that was $20 a month. When I moved to Florida the price went up $5. They say state fees. However now that my year is up and not in the lower rate they changed my rate three times. I question it and they tell me they can change it whenever they want and to whatever they want. I have asked to speak to someone higher up which in turn I am told no one is higher than me.
Once even that they do "I have someone that signs my paycheck and do you think they will talk to you? No!" His name was Chris and apparently with the company 8 years. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and today spoke to Ana. She tells me the same that no one is higher up than her. She also doesn't know what customer service is. She also swears that I signed a contract with them. This said contract is the papers you sign when they install your equipment... She states that you are signing the contract at that point. I read the documents and this was never on that paperwork she swears by.
This company has also promised to email me this said document which still is not in my hands. The only thing this company did do is cancel my service right after Ana hung up with me... not when I asked Chris the supervisor to do it 4 days ago... The interesting thing is this company settled a case Jan 2015 in Colorado the same thing I'm complaining about. They are misleading about how they change the rates even after we agreed per our said contracts that we had no price increases for the term of the contract, that it may change after the contract but not during.

In February of 2015 I signed up for a 2 year fixed price deal with Dish Network. In January of 2017 I received a letter informing me that local channels were going up by $10.00 but I get a $5.00 discount. Nonetheless, my total bill was going up by $5.00. I called Dish and told them I had a two year fixed price deal but the (so called) customer service guy told me the charge was effective in February. I then said I wanted to cancel effective the last day of my two year contract which is February 24, 2017. Once I mentioned cancel he was all for offering me a discount or fewer channels to reduce my bill. I told him I wasn't interested and to cancel my service as of Feb 24. He then transferred me to Customer Retention and I has to go through the same BS with that person before I finally had confirmation that my service would end as of Feb 24, 2017 and that I would receive a prorated bill for the final few days of service.
Today, Feb 9, 2017, I received a bill from Dish for a full month's service. I immediately called and spoke to a David (pronounced Dabid). I had great difficulty understanding him. After much back and forth and being put on hold I was told I would not receive a prorated bill and must pay the full amount and that Dish would refund any money after the end of service. I told him there was no way I was paying the full bill and he said that if I didn't it would affect my credit rating. Now that threat is wrong. I've done everything by the book and still they jerk you around. I admit that I lost my temper at this stage and asked to speak to a supervisor. I was put on hold and after 10 minutes of waiting I hung up.
Luckily, I had agreed to a 2 question survey so when the phone rang I was able to answer the questions and leave a 90 second summary of my situation. Whether it will do any good remains to be seen but I am finished with Dish. We have an antenna over which we get 17 channels free so I wont be looking at constant repeats of car shows, Storage wars and what passes for entertainment these days and paying $83.00 per month for the privilege. The repeats will now be free.

When I was making the change I asked do they bundle Tv and internet. They told me yes, and Hughes now was who you all bundled with. So we discussed the price and they said I would only get one monthly bill. Today my mom called me and said that the actual HughesNet billed her and of course you all billed her for internet services also. I call and talked to customer service and guess what. I was told that you all only use their towers which is not the same as having HughesNet.
Now if your representative would just inform the pending customer that unless you cancel your current HughesNet policy they will still bill you won't have a misunderstanding. However, when you say over ten times that you will keep your existing service, one would assume that you will are bundled. I took me and my mother off DirecTV for poor customer service and telling half truth. I have been with your company one month and I already have a complaint. For the money your company charges you should do much better by your customer. I am disappointed with my decision to switch as of right now at 2313 hrs.

Moving out of state and trying to close my account after 9 years of doing business with Dish, was like a game of hot potato. I was sent through the same automated system twice after 2 voice to voice conversations with individuals saying they didn't handle closing accounts. Selecting the "other" option or "5", I got lucky and finally got someone who could close the account.
I learned that you can only cancel on the day you want services to end, so no future cancel dates - not even 2 days. Of course, I could always call back on the exact day I want service to end. Not a gamble I was willing to take, getting a live person to actually cancel for me now that all of Dish knows I intend to cancel. The other thing questionable with their policy is the return kits they mail you within 7-10 business days for returning used equipment. I had to ask the guy if he needed my forwarding address to send the kits to, in order that I wouldn't be charged up to $350 for each unreturned receiver. I asked for his worker ID #, since the response from him about a confirmation number was "we send you an email, usually within 24 hours." The whole process took longer than it took to cancel all 3 major utilities. Seems their mission is to make it really difficult to cancel service.

Every time I call them to make a change there is a problem. Their people are not thoroughly trained or perhaps they have high turnover and cannot keep people adequately trained. We are one month away from our 2 yr anniversary and called them to see why it went it up and asked about cancelling. They told us "because it's more expensive now so we raised your rate," (wow great answer), and we are locked into them for another year because we added another receiver a year ago.
Our cancellation would be 300.00 for the extra receiver that we added. I told them that they advertise their packages for much cheaper. The rep told us that is only for new business. I asked "don't you have anything for loyal customers?" He told me no they have never done anything like that. No wonder you have a 1 star rating out of 5000 customers. We told the Dish rep that Dish has on their website when you choose the Flexpack, you get the popular channels such as HGTV. The website then has you click on that button and goes to next page where it states you get one of their listed packs free along with the first bunch, which is about 40-ish. So we choose to get the National pack free and then add the local pack for additional $10.00. Well the rep left as we were finishing up. We did not check our channels until today.
Going through our channels to set up our favorites, I noticed we didn't get our locals. I then went to recheck our receipt and it only states we paid $10.00 for National pack and nothing on local pack. I called Dish and told her it was not put on our plan because we didn't pay for it. Since moving to my current home/city I soon obtained DISH for TV and internet service. No problems with the internet but have had CONSTANT problems with the TV receiver. In the approximate 6 months of service I have had to call DISH tech support at least 15 times. They make you go through all the steps for correcting the problem (per what the tech rep reads from the manual in front of them and IF YOU CAN UNDERSTAND THE TECH REP you will have wasted a good 30 minutes to end up rebooting your receiver). It's amazing how many different tech reps DISH has who can barely speak English! But that's another story.
So, after nearly a solid two weeks of calls to DISH they finally send out a tech to go through all my wiring, TV and receiver. He clips a few wires and pushes a few buttons and proclaims all is well. About a week later it all starts again. The receiver just reboots itself or shuts down or doesn't work when I turn on the TV... again, and again, and again! I continue my calls to DISH and we go through all the do this and do that's and always end up rebooting the receiver. Then after my constant bombardment of calls they send me a "new" receiver but I have to install it myself. Everything's great for a couple weeks and then here we go again. I've had to call DISH 10 straight nights in a two-week period with problems with the receiver shutting down or not working or the sound not working or the remote not operating. ALL OF WHICH IS CORRECTED BY REBOOTING THE REMOTE.
With my latest complaint I WAS ASSURED THAT "THEY HAD FOUND AND CORRECTED THE SOFTWARE PROBLEM!!!" So much for that. My problems continued. I was finally promised another receiver was being sent. That was a MONTH ago. And with each subsequent call with tech problems I was assured that the receiver was (still) en route! And now, after having completed my last call to tech support (in the Philippines or India) I've had enough... problem is that I'm STUCK with a two-year contract!!! I've thought about getting an attorney to sue DISH for breach of contract but that would cost more than the early termination fee. So I guess I'll get my money's worth by continuing my calls to DISH on a daily basis. If I had it to do over again??? You make the call... (so to speak).
I'll just add a bonus line here.... when DISH finishes taking away all the promotional programs from your plan (after 6 months) you are left with MAYBE 15 percent of "watchable" programs. Most everything else is "paid programming" selling stuff or ways to lose weight or ways to get rid of loose skin around your neck or correct hair loss or trips of a lifetime to Bora Bora or such places or "are you not pooping enough" (an actual program!!)... to name a few. I'm going to keep track of the time left on my contract and just as soon as I see the cost bearable I'M GONE!!

When I called to inquire about it and brought up the fact that the month before my bill was correct and I have a price guarantee, the very rude "supervisor" said it must not have been completely updated the month before. He kept asking what I wanted, to which I replied that I wanted to pay the price I was guaranteed to pay. He said, "That's not gonna happen." I am now being charged an extra $5.00 each month. For no apparent reason (ie. no storms, no trees down, roof work), my main Dish Network receiver stopped working. I did all the normal reset steps, without results. First I had to wait 12 minutes for the call back from customer service. When they did call back the person started with all the steps I had just done, wasting another 20 minutes. She then surmised that a technician had to come to the house. I asked why I couldn't bring the box in for repair and was told there was no place to take it. When I asked why only one box didn't work of the two we owned, she said it must be a splitter on the dish.
Since we did not have an extended service plan for their equipment (on top of the over $100 monthly fees), we needed to either pay a one time fee of $95 for a technician, or $8 per month for a minimum of 6 months, or face cancellation fees for a service plan. We decided none of this made sense and declined her "offer". Before calling a competitor for a new service, we decided to give it one last try ourselves. We worked our way through the diagnostics, unplugged it a few times, and amazingly it started working! We believe this to be a scam to sell service contracts. Subscriber Beware!

Then when I called in to cancel the service they told me that I could magically have the service upgrade for FREE if I signed up for a year. It was simple and they promised to have someone at my house to fix it right away. Well they stood us up in one week twice, with no concern at all that we took time without pay off to wait around.

I recently found out someone opened a Dish Network account using my name and social security number and had it for 10 years! I have never had Dish Network. Not to mention I never have even been in the city where the service was provided. It only showed up because after 10 years they missed a payment. Unfortunately, I've been fighting negatives additions to my credit report that were not mine, for years. When I contacted Dish Network to report the fraud, they wouldn't give me any information on the account, nor remove it from my credit report. Their reason was it could be fraud (you think? That's why I'm calling you!)
After 9 hrs of phone conversations between me, Dish Network and the collection Company ERC, I was told by a woman in the President's Office at Dish Network I would need a to get a SUBPOENA to get any information on this account. That they claimed was mine and refused to take it off my credit reports. Long story short the people who opened the account are spanish (Dish Latino) I am not, I don't even speak Spanish. I informed Dish Network of that fact. I am Greek and the spelling of my name definitely points to that fact. Dish Network is protecting these identify thieves for the sake of another account on their rosters. Meanwhile, providing no help for me to recover my identity or stop this kind of damage. When I asked if they had a driver's license number or copy on file they didn't. Or at least would not providing it to me.
I filed a federal identify theft case and Dish finally sent me the address and a final bill (IN SPANISH) but NO identifying signature (WHICH I REQUESTED, TO PROVE THIS IS NOT ME) or methods used for payment by these thieves?! I think if they paid for 10 years, unless they took cash to a local office consistently, some kind of card number may be a great help in catching these people.
In the mean time, thanks to Dish Network, these people have my social security number, my birth date and my name and I have a final bill in Spanish. Just for everyone FYI: it is illegal for any company to require a subpoena in cases of identity theft and Dish knows it. I am still trying to rectify this but it requires many, many hours, much stress and still Dish Network protects the fraudulent party. I will try to update later. I've contacted them several times about this concern and I keep getting the same runaround. This last experience I was told that the monthly bill went up due to the channel providers went up on their price, so they increased mine. My rate was supposed to be locked in for 24 months. When I called their "office of the president" to try to resolve this, they once again told me wrong information and told me that the current price is correct. WHAT A BUNCH OF CROOKS!!! I am going to turn this over to my lawyer and let him review this for a breach of contract. I want their crap out of my house. Never again will Dish be used at my house. I bundled both internet and satellite TV when I moved last year. I had been using satellite for TV for a couple of years with no problems and am now too far out in the country to get anything other than satellite for internet service. I am not a heavy user. I do not game or watch much Netflix but do work from home some. At first I thought it was just a little bit slow. Then it became more like early 90's dial-up. Unplug. Reset. Bypass router. Use off-peak. Etc, etc, etc. I called Dish for "technical support". Ran the speed check through their website and was told my speeds were fine; perfect in fact. I must need a new router.
Would I like to buy a new package with more data? No offer to come out and fix. More calls. I ran an independent speed test. My speeds were 1/10th of what they were reporting! Go figure! Called to cancel. Since I am terminating early I will be paying a $245 early termination fee. Thanks Dish. I get to pay for something I could not use to do work I could not complete because YOUR service would not work! Bottom line- don't do it! Don't even think about it!

I ordered regional action package to go along with our previously ordered Local and National Action packages that are add-ons to our Flex service. Once the regional package was added the other two packages disappeared! The service rep apparently believed that was the only package we wanted to have with our Flex service and removed the other two. But that was not what I specified in the call to customer service. Online service chat has been no help either. Do not order DISH Network! They are in the habit of removing packages once you order new ones in order to make you reorder the old ones and then pay more. The people behind the DISH Network curtains are nothing more than greedy ** who love to overcharge you for service. Not to mention their customer service and support are among the worst I've encountered, and I'm typically patient with customer service reps.

In August of 2015 I moved into a home which I figured I would be in a short while. I was looking for tv service that would have no contract given the uncertainty of the situation. I talked with a Dish rep who gave me a low price and assured me there was no contract obligation. When they arranged installation I told them I would have my neighbor give them access to the home. He signed for what he believed to be was only the installation with only his first name KEN. They put a temporary 4 1/2 foot tall mini dish at the back edge of my pool and did not completely bury the cable. The tech told my neighbor that they would come bury the cable and permanently install the DISH. They did not ever come back and I assumed that was because I had not made a long-term commitment to service. I lived with the ridiculously placed Dish at the back of my pool and mowed around the cables.
After 17 months and numerous rake hikes (from an original $43.86 now to $87.99 with no change in service), I told them to cancel. They promptly informed me that I owed them a $140 early termination fee. I told Dish I had no contract term commitment. The agent said he would have a copy of the signed contract sent to me (mysteriously this takes 2 to 3 weeks to email it to you). The "contract" does state that it is for 2 years but this is not what we agreed to on the phone. I had authorized my neighbor only to sign for the installation. He had no authority to sign me into a term commitment, to authorize auto debit, etc. and he certainly did not intend to do so.
It was fraud on the part of DISH to send a contract contrary to the verbal agreement on the phone. Count on lies as tactics to get you into a contract. Expect rate hikes without further services. Also, expect that if it is inclement weather you will have no signal. Avoid DISH no matter how cordial the salesperson on the phone might be. The company is dishonest, the service is poor and the "office of the president" other complainers are talking about is just an office that deals with disputes when you object to their crooked policies. They hire their nastiest most argumentative agents for that department.

Today I was online chat with Dish Satellite to switch from 15 years of DirecTV to them. I completely changed my mind to do so when they told me to pull down a bubble tab at the top of the page and enter into it my birthdate and Social Security #. Although she claimed it was secure and they never shared information, never would I do that in this day and age. I would rather pay them for a year of service upfront than to ever give my most sacred number to them.
Also they offer $5 off per month if you sign up for them to go into your bank account and take my payment to them. This is also something I do not believe in allowing. My bank allows me to electronically set up my own monthly payments, in which I have the say as to when and how much to pay. I have my electric bill set up so that I have average out my total yearly bill into even 12 payments. There is always a balance and it works out very well. Dish is not working to have quality customers, if at every turn they are acting like they fear new future clients. This is the feeling I got after talking to them. Now I get online to question the SS# thing and I see all these complaints about how they ruined people's property. What a horrible company!

So far, so good... We just had Dish installed and, other than the fact the rep that came by was touting a couple things that apparently aren't true (nothing critical, but makes me wonder how he can be a Sub-Regional Manager and not know these things) and the fact the front box was out of sync (audio; simple fix, just unplug the box and plug it back in), everything is fine so far. Good picture on both TVs. We were charged for two HDMI cables ($20 ea.), which doesn't seem too bad, since we needed them anyways.
Regardless of the horrible reviews (oops... didn't see them until AFTER we committed), we're willing to give them a chance, to save money. Cox TV was going to cost us $98 alone and since we're locked in for two years (about $78/mo), we won't have to worry about a price increase until then. If there are any problems, I'll be sure to update this review or post a new one. Hopefully won't have to (fingers crossed). We live in Sierra Vista, AZ. Hopefully that means something positive...

The customer service people on the phone were liars. We did not sign up for DVR service, yet we automatically get charged for it on our bill. More than half of our channels didn't work and after several phone calls and countless time spent attempting to fix the situation, it only worsened. They wanted to charge me $95 to have someone come fix the problem which was we couldn't acquire signal. Now mind you we don't live in a rural area. After refusing and telling them they could just come get their equipment they agreed to send someone out at no cost.
Basically, just telling me what I wanted to hear because when I got our bill we were in fact charged the $95. The tech who came out only got 7% signal. He was very apologetic and understood our frustration seeing how we were paying for services not rendered. I called and fought with them some more and they finally removed the $95 but refused to credit our account and said we would not be credited due to them only receiving one phone call. That was when I lost it because they had apparently 'lost' every 'recorded' conversation I've had about this problem and refused to make the situation right. Why should I, the consumer, be responsible to pay for services I couldn't watch. No way, so I said, 'fine, cancel our service. I am done giving you all another dime.' They were completely happy to do so and thought they were going to charge me to have someone come out and remove their equipment from my home.
Over my dead body would I consent to giving Dish Network another dime ever. His reply, "well I'm sorry but that's that way it is with Dish and I will just have to wait to receive it and it will be there at some point". This is not how customers' contracts should work for at any point a contract is needed to be viewed it should be done at any given point under the profile; not the case!! I requested to be transferred to a manager and got a floor supervisor (customer retention supervisor), and explained to her what I need. She said that contracts are not viewable online and I would just need to wait until I receive it. Not to mention she was unable to provide me with my contract.
I have been with Dish for 6yrs or more and maybe I should have looked at this many years ago. If Dish Network wants to hold me to a contract then this contract needs to be provided upon request or viewable at any point needed!! Not to mention I was told that they will need to request my contract but yet told me they were able to email it to me; still have not received it.

I had Dish service in Oregon. I discontinued my service in February of 2015 and returned their equipment. Today I got an alert from my credit agency that there was a $640.00 amount reported to collections from Dish. I called and they are claiming that they didn't receive their equipment back and are just now reporting it. I received nothing from them and I have been out of stat for 2 years. Leo, Badge ** admitted that there has been no activity on this account for 2 years but that they didn't show the equipment was returned. I was required to pay the $640.00 for a 5 year old modem and cable box which was definitely mailed to them and on top of that they caused my credit score to go down by 47 points. This is so wrong on so many levels. Even if it costs me money I will pursue with a legal suit. It is the principle!

We canceled our DISH service on 11/28/16 and they told me they would be sending me a final bill and boxes for our equipment. I received the boxes and sent back the equipment. I then received the final bill with a $400 ETF!!! What the Hell!!! So today, 1/6/17, they automatically pulled $400 from a card I had on file without my authorization. I now have $15 in my bank account until next Friday to put gas in my car for work and buy groceries for my 4 children... again What the Hell!!
I called them up and disputed this charge and the fact that I did not consent to them removing any money from my account. They told me there was absolutely nothing they could do for me... even a supervisor couldn't help me. What kind of company can't help its customers out??? A really awful one!!! They are claiming they had my consent to do it back when I opened my service with them. I never signed any contract or gave verbal consent to a contract... they are liars!!
When I called to cancel the service they never said anything about pulling an ETF out of my account automatically!! I would have put a stop to that fast!! So now I will have to dispute the charges through my bank, all the while will be out $400 dollars until it is rectified. DO NOT GET THEIR SERVICE. THEY ARE CROOKS!!! THEY ARE LIARS AND THEY HAVE NO SOUL OR COMPASSION!!! If you have their service beware of their shady tactics and their taking your money without your consent!!!

I called and cancelled because in the paper we signed it stated we had 30 days to see if we liked it and if not there would be no charge. I just looked at my credit report and it is on there for over $400 in collections. This is terrible. We had nothing but issues and never got to watch their TV. 5 years ago a sales rep contacted me and talked to me for over 40 minutes trying to buy me an offer for a cheap price. Finally I got the deal. When the technician came to install it he showed me a screen with the signing place so I signed. I received my first bill with almost double the price. I contacted the same number and the whole number (did not exist)!!! I contacted the customer service and they told me the price is on the tablet with the technician (which he did not show me). I continued paying for almost 2 years. At this point I had to leave the country. I contacted them and DISCONNECTED the services and PAID the termination fee. I returned the device and left the country.
They contacted my family and asked for payment (ANOTHER PAYMENT). My 75 year old mom did pay them AGAIN. Now 5 years later they continue contacting my family and referred me to a COLLECTION AGENCY which is calling my mom with threats on a daily basis. I contacted their customer services and she kept on repeating the same thing over and over (your account shows no payment) no matter what I try to explain!!! Never ever sign up for their services.

So I have had Dish service for 3 years. I moved to Alabama and had my services transferred down with the move. I added a box to my bedroom. When I wanted to cancel my account with them because my bill was constantly different they told me I had early termination fees. Wasn't sure how that was possible since I had been with them for 3 years. They told me that by adding a box it automatically renewed my contract for two years and my total balance to turn off my services was about 800$. I told them I never signed a new contract with them. They said it was over the phone. I requested my contract be sent to me via email. They did so. My signature was indeed NOT on it. They had no choice but to refund the termination fee. They told me that contract was just for tv. So I requested a copy of the Internet one as well. And my signature was NOT on that one either.
Both early termination fees were reversed and all I owe now is about 240$ which is 2 months worth of bills I refused to pay. When I receive the statement I will be contacting them again to make more adjustments because they refused to let me terminate my account and their contracts were not valid. In hindsight take the time and stress to request your contract. Go over it and make sure your signature is on it. If it is you have to pay it. But their contract via paper requires a signature. The phone terms you agree to are not enough to hold you. It saved me roughly 600$ and possibly more. Feel free to contact me if you want to be walked through it more. Screw this company and never go with them.

When I originally contacted a Dish Network salesperson via telephone, I was told that I would have a 12 month contract with a 24 month price guarantee. The installer instead of simply following the wiring from previous DirecTV installation, ran an enormous amount of cable across an entire side of my brick home which looks like crap, but threw the DirecTV satellite dish in my backyard where it was left damaged until I cleaned it up, then using a small smartphone where it was impossible to read the contract they had me sign, only to find out I was locked into a 24 month contract and our service is terrible, the HD is terrible, every time a cloud passes over we lose the signal and if it actually rains it goes out for lengthy amount of time.
The price goes up after a year and if you try to get out of the contract they charge you $20 a month for the remainder of the time left. I will never use Dish again. We received multiple harassing phone calls from them for several months until I basically had to threaten them to have the calls stopped. They are LIARS, CHEATS, and THIEVES. Never use Dish. I have been a long term Dish customer. However, every time I moved or upgraded my equipment, it has been a nightmare dealing with customer service. The latest and final episode was when I upgraded to take advantage of the two year price guarantee/one year free Netflix promotional offer. I ordered a new HD DVR and 2 Joeys that allowed reception for two additional TVs. Dish agreed to provide the promotion under a new two year contract.
When the bill arrived in March 2016, they did not honor the promotion. I called and was told they had no record of the agreement. They said the promotion was over (not true) and the best they would do was to discount my bill by $15 a month. However, they could only lock the discount in for one year: I would have to call in at the end of December 2016 to have the discount continued. I agreed due to the high termination fee but was upset that I was lied to and would not receive Netflix.
I called in late December 2016 to ensure my discount would continue prior to getting my January 2017 bill. They said they had no record of the agreement to continue my discount for an additional year. I am tired of the lies and price gouging from Dish. I now have to pay the termination fee and return postage for the equipment. Dish is now history and I am relieved to never having to deal with this sorry company again. This company is a joke, I should have remembered that my husband had a horrible experience with this company, consisting of endless time on the telephone addressing over charges, false and incorrect information provided by this company. This company locks individuals in with a 2 year contract, meaning that they can lie and do whatever they want and you can't leave. If you choose to disconnect service they charge you a $400.00 cancellation fee. I feel like I am being held hostage by my cable company, this is completely unbelievable.
Here is my experience. I called today to get a payment extension, my bill is due today. I only needed an 8 day extension. I have never been late on this service. I was informed I was not eligible for a payment arrangement due to the fact that I am on a pre-pay account. I didn't even know what that was, I was never informed of this program nor would I have agreed with it. I paid a $300.00 deposit as a normal customer would pay a deposit. It is important for you to understand that I had previous service with sudden link and disconnected to come to this company for 2 channels that sudden link did not offer.
I was on the phone with 3 supervisors this morning for an hour, taking time away from my employer. These supervisor absolutely did not care of the incorrect information I was provided and they all stated they did not have to legally tell me they were putting me on this plan. I am now writing this review and holding on the line with corporate office, again taking time away from my employer.
The only solution is for me to pay a $400.00 cancellation fee. This is so unbelievable, do not use this company. You will be very disappointed and very saddened that companies can treat their customers like this. They state this is a family owned business, the man that created and built it would be disappointed and saddened. I just spoke with the highest department in the corporate office. I was informed the same exact information. I have tried every attempt to allow this company to correct their mistakes and make them right. I will be moving forward with choices I did not want to be forced to do. I will calling the Better Business Bureau and writing this review, something has to be done by this company. I am total confusion.

Frontier had schedule me an appointment on 12/18/2016 to have my service installed at my new home. Dish Network showed up to install their service. When the gentleman arrived I asked him who sent him because I had an existing contract w/ Frontier. He stated Frontier sent him out. So he went ahead and installed all his equipment. After he installed his equipment he stated I need to sign a contract.
I informed him I am not signing no contract and he can take his equipment with him. He stated he would leave everything there and let the office know. The next day I called Frontier and informed them of the situation. Frontier informed me they never sent Dish Network out and the transfer was never done. At that point I told Frontier to cancel all my service with them and that I was not paying a cancellation fee due to I have had nothing but problems with their service since day one. The rep agreed and closed the account and voided the contract. She gave me order # ** to verify my contract was canceled. I then called Dish Network to inform them of the situation. I s/w Frank ID #** and was informed that I could not cancel my service.
I informed him you can not hold someone hostage. I informed him of the situation and let him know I didn't call to set this service up. I didn't sign no contract. That I need to cancel this service. He placed me on a brief hold then came back and stated if I cancel he would charge me $400. I asked him for what if I never signed up. He stated because they installed the service. I told him I could see if I didn't call the next day of operation to report the situation. He stated it didn't matter. So, I requested a copy of the contract I signed. They stated they didn't have one. I said "if you don't have one then you have to cancel." He kept giving me the runaround. So, I just informed him do whatever he needs to do to cancel my service without a charge.
I then call Frontier 12/20/16 and informed them of the situation. Frontier then called Dish network while I was placed on hold, informed Dish Network that they did not request the service and my contract has been voided with me. The rep at Frontier then transfer me to Dish Network and informed me that they would take over the call. I was transferred to Christian ID #**. I explained the whole situation to her again after the rep from Frontier explained everything to her. Frontier then disconnected after she explained everything to rep. Miss Christian then went on to explain that I refused for them to pull the contract when I s/w Frank last night. I then explained to her I told Frank to do whatever he needed to do to close my account without a charge.
Christian stated she would try to pull the contract but I still will be charge for this day until they locate the contract. I informed her why would they charge me and I'm calling to cancel. They are the one's leaving it on. At this point I don't think I should be charge for anything. I'm trying to return the equipment and they don't want to take. I did so, not knowing that this new receiver would mean that I had to fulfill a new contract term.

Also, the day that Dish wanted to charge me for the early termination was earlier than my normal billing. I spoke with a representative who assured me that he would stop that auto pay. When my cell phone contract became too expensive I tried to sign up for internet through Dish and was told I didn't qualify. To date I haven't received any information as to why I didn't qualify. I spent a couple of months trying to get some sort of information as to why this occurred with absolutely no luck.
I cancelled my subscription and in doing so I found out, all of a sudden like, that I owed Dish for services already paid for, something that was not indicated on my statement. I signed up with DISH December 2015 and right out of the gate the sales rep was telling me anything I wanted to hear in order to get me to sign up. First of all I'm a senior citizen with a fixed income and get money once a month so I was very specific of when I needed my payment due. And it was Dec. 2nd and I was told repeatedly that my bill was due the 29th and to my surprise that was a big fat LIE. My payment was due 13 days after my installation. At the installation they FAIL to tell you that there is a 25.00 charge, another 10.00 for something else and they tried to sell me a power strip for ANOTHER 25.00 and the installation guy gets upset when you don't buy the power strip which has a surge protector. I had a perfectly good one sitting right there so why should I buy one from them.
At installation, well after the installation is when they tell you that if you have equipment issues it's 95.00 for them to come and fix THEIR equipment. That's just beyond wrong. Had I known that up front I would have never called them. Then the billing issues start. And that is just beyond anything I have ever dealt with in my 40+ years of having utility service. If you call to get the balance due I guess they just pick a number out of the sky because in 12 months I never one time got the actual past due amount told to me so I could pay that. After 12 months of NOT getting the correct past due amount it has mounted up to a substantial amount. So between the service issues and the billing issues it is an absolute NIGHTMARE.
Do yourself a huge favor and get service from anyone but DISH. They are horrible. They attempted to withdraw a payment from my account on August 25th after they had just texted me asking me what date I could pay and I said September 10th so I incurred 144.00 NSF charges because they attempted to take that payment right then instead of September 10th and subsequently my bank account was closed and DISH Network could care less. They will NOT give you one penny of credit for their service issues or billing issues so please please please BEWARE. Even if you have to pay a little more it will save you the headache of dealing with their deceptive practices. The executive escalation team at DISH is a joke. I was getting calls from a local number and have the calls on my call log but I was basically called a LIAR and told that I could not be getting the calls. Do your homework BEFORE you sign up with DISH Network.

As I read some of the other complaints I've had the exact same experiences. Mine may not have been quite as bad. I feel bad for some of these people who have been caught up in and preyed upon by the schemes and negligent business practices utilized by this disgraceful company. I don't understand why they haven't been sued out of business. I don't understand how the agencies created to prevent this type of behavior have allowed this to continue. What are they? The Better Business Bureau, the SEC (not sure I know if that one is the correct acronym for a communications policing agency) and there may be others. I didn't really research before writing my complaint. I just wanted to do as much as possible to spread the word to other consumers to definitely NOT USE this company.
I may have gotten off slightly easier than some other people. I just a week ago cancelled my service. Well actually I'm on disability and Medicare suddenly this year seems to have started to cost quite a bit more (another complaint) but as a result of this I'm overwhelmed with bills and trying to figure out how to pay for all this so I just quit paying and "they" cut off my service. Hummph, imagine that. They don't like getting the screws put to them. So, I still have the equipment and am awaiting to hear from them via the postal service as I've had to cancel my phone as well. I guess I can't get any harassing phone calls now. I'd like to hold their equipment hostage until they repay me for all these illegitimate charges and overcharges but I bet that due to corporate America favoring big business that I would be the one to get penalized or perhaps even fined or jailed. GRRRRR!
I wonder how much it would cost and how much red tape I would face if I filed a lawsuit. I will check on that and if it's not much I'm going to do it. I think we all need to somehow get together and find out if we can file a class action lawsuit. I'm absolutely certain that quite a few of their practices aren't legal. We, as consumers, do still have a few rights left. I thought Mr. Trump would trample those rights and as a democrat was frightened by his campaign promises and shocking statements made prior to election. Well now I'm not sure if he's getting educated on how impossible some of these are or if he just made them to stir the beehive and wake up the radicals or whatever other harm or possible good it did and is now changing his tune but being a businessman and wanting to cut regulations and regulatory agencies created to protect us consumers.
He may help businesses weaken our rights and even destroy our rights to fight back. We may need to hurry before that's allowed to happen. He has surprised me and maybe his goal is actually to help similar to a sheep in disguise. Hard to conceive I know and I won't believe it till I see it. If anyone knows a way to get out of the Early Termination Fees please let everyone know. I know, it seems like them not adhering to their part of the contract should be enough but apparently due to our system favoring "BIG BUSINESS" and not the consumer they seem to be allowed to get away with it. There must be someone somewhere that has fought and won their case against them. Please send a message or publish how and where it was done. Quite often it's up to the state and state laws to prevail and prevent illegal practices. There where clauses in a contract I read but never signed that I'm certain weren't legal.
Oh well DISH I still have your equipment tied up in a chair in the basement crying for their legal guardians to come rescue them. They're getting hungry and thirsty. Oh yeah they don't like water. I wish I had a lawyer friend or one of these Dish customers that has cancelled and had these same troubles that can post something to help. Seems like he or she could make a substantial case and cash from these 1000's of complaints. To have that many it's painfully obvious there must be a problem. I thank you if you actually read all my babbling and would thank you even more if you join in and we do something to stop any new honest hard working citizens from getting their $ stolen and ripped of by these thieves.

I was a Dish customer for 7 years. During the last year I had non-stop issues with losing the signal and the receiver box resetting itself multiple times. Sometimes it interrupted the program I was watching as much as 4 times. On several occasions I missed much of the program. I called Dish each time and was basically given the run around. After going thru the lengthy call tree, getting someone who did not understand English, being told crazy reasons for the interruption, they finally sent out a technician and were going to charge me $99 service call fee. I refused to pay & they agreed to waive the charge. I was told the tech would replace the receiver box. Turns out he did not have the right box for my TV but managed to hook up a box he had on the truck but I did not have any HD programming. I also had to ship the old box back to them.
Within one week I had the same issue with the box resetting itself. They sent out another Tech who did something to the satellite receiver dish on the roof. Problem still persisted. I finally gave up & decided to disconnect the service and switch to another provider. I called & placed the order to disconnect the service. The Rep I spoke to said he would send a box to me to ship the equipment back to Dish. What he did not tell me was that he charged me $10 for the box. I found this out when I had to make another call to get the box since a week had gone by & I still had not received the return box.
Turns out second rep I spoke with said he never sent out the first box. She also told me she would waive the cost for sending out the second box??? & would reverse the $10 charge the first rep had made. I did finally receive the return box & have mailed back the equipment. I have yet to see the credit on my bill. I will never do business with Dish, EVER, again. They never even offered to credit my bill for all the service interruptions I endured with them- Terrible company!!!

We are currently in a battle because they are insisting on charging $400 to break our contract. This is after 7 phone calls, 3 chats, 5 tech visits, equipment replacement etc, etc., and still RedZone only works on 1 TV and if we try and record more than 1 program we get a black screen. I have just filed a complaint with their corporate and the FCC.
